Essay Effectiveness of Legal and Non Legal Measures in...
Evaluate the effectiveness of legal and non legal measures in resolving conflict and working
towards word world order.
Introduction
World order are the activities and relationship between the world states, and other significant non
state global actors, that occur within a legal, political and economic frame work. The need for
world order has arisen due to the past historical conflicts, colonialism, greater interdependence
between nations, and the increased impact of the activities of nation states upon other nation states.
Legal measures such as the UN, as well as non legal measures such as the media and Non
governmental organisations, show a mixed effectiveness in response to resolving conflict and
working towards world order. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the UN Charter, the Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of
international peace and security and is argued to have power to intervene in the most serious issues
which disrupt world order.
At the end of the 1990 91 Gulf War, the Security Council passed Resolution 687, which set out the
terms that Iraq s leader Suddam Hussein was to comply with. The resolution required the
destruction of all chemical and biological weapons, and ballistic missiles with a range greater than
150 kilometres and required Iraq to submit to a rigorous UN inspection system. Inspections were
conducted by United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) and later the United Nations
Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) throughout the 1990s to the US
led invasion 2003. The UNSC has proved to be an effective legal response to monitoring conflict
and maintaining world order as no weapons of mass destruction were found after the American
invasion in 2003.
However the UNSC has also shown to be ineffective in some cases. In 1993 North Korea was
referred to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for violating its safeguards. The
following year North Korea and the United States signed an Agreed Framework between the
United States of America and the Democratic People s Republic of Korea . This framework was a
non binding political commitment, noted by the

Women s Responsibility Of Rear The Children And Keep The...
Introduction:
From the beginning of times it has always been the women s responsibility to rear the children
and keep the house tidy, traditional wifely duties. Why? Because kids come from inside of
women? Pew Research Center, reports that men spend 4.8 hours a week (in 2011) more with
their children than they did in 1965 and six more hours a week (in 2011) on household duties
and chores. Women actually spend less time than they did in 1965, a reported fourteen hours
less a week in 2011 (USA Today, 2013) .Men and women are learning to work together. Work/life
balance is becoming a shared priority which in 1965 was not as women spent most the time in the
home. I do find it very interesting that men and women with children both spend about 10 hours
less doing leisure activities with kids (USA Today, 2013); I find it interesting only because the
number is so much higher than originally thought which suggests that teamwork between husband
and wife is beneficial to everyone making better relationships. The percentage of stay at home dads
has increased by 3% in 1989 to 7% in 2012 (Pew Research Center, USA Today).
Fathers are extremely conflicted today, says Christopher Brown of Cedar Park, Texas, who is
executive vice president of the National Fatherhood Initiative, a nonprofit based in Germantown,
Md. Many years ago, the father was looked at primarily as a financial provider. Now he s looked
at in a much more holistic sense of what providing means. It s not just financial

Internal Controls And Internal Control
Contents Introduction1 Analysis of the internal controls1 Conclusion4 Introduction Internal control
is the process designed, implemented and maintained by those charged with governance,
management and other personnel to provide reasonable assurance about the achievement of an
entity s objectives with regard to reliability of financial reporting, effectiveness and efficiency of
operations, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The term controls refers to any
aspects of one or more of the components of internal control. (Ifac, 2010, p. 264) ISA 315 requires
the auditor to identify and assess the risks of material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error,
at the financial statement and assertion levels, through understanding the entity and its
environment, including the entity s internal control, thereby providing a basis for designing and
implementing responses to the assessed risks of material misstatement. (Ifac, 2010, p. 264)
Analysis of the internal controls Internal Control WeaknessImplicationRecommendations There is
ineffective oversight of the entity s staff hiring. The hiring of Mr Newman and Mr Bishop has
been done on a personal favour basis rather than on a professional basis. This has led to hiring of
incompetent staff who do not seem to have the company s best interest in mind. For example Mr
Newman has been allowed to take up a part time position yet it s clearly a fulltime position. This
would mean that he is focusing his

The Influence of History on American Literature Essay
A Tale Intended to be After the Fact... is how Stephan Crane introduced his harrowing story, The
Open Boat, but this statement also shows that history influences American Literature. Throughout
history, there has been a connection among literary works from different periods. The connection is
that History, current events, and social events have influenced American Literature. Authors, their
literary works, and the specific writingstyles; are affected and influenced by the world around them.
Authors have long used experiences they have lived through and/or taken out of history to help
shape and express in their works. Writing styles are also affected by the current trends and opinions
of the period they represent. By reading American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regionalism and local color writings are each specific types of Realism. They worked to record
a distinctive way of life. Regionalism often showed regional dialect, food, clothing styles and
customs of that time period. Naturalism, like realism, works to accurately portray its subject
matter, but naturalism also works to find the scientific theory. Each of these writing styles have
characteristics that make them stand out from one another but they all seem to also have a
common link of showing life realistically of that time period. It is easy to see that current events
and issues of the world around them have had an impact on authors and what they have written
from the stories in this time period. The Native American authors wrote stories describing life
during and after white man came to America. We read Oratory s by two Native American s
COCHISE and CHARLOT. They gave heart wrenching speeches, giving great details into the
history of the tribes and the devastating effect the white man had on them. Author Zitkala Sa gave
us a powerful interpretation of her life as a Indian and how the white s coming to America affected
her life.
The African American authors of this time period wrote stories describing life during and after
slavery. Real life issues that these authors lived through and experienced through the world around
them. The excerpts that we read of Booker T. Washington s Up From Slavery, told a compelling
tale of his life of being born into

King Leopold s Ghost Essay
What is Lingering in the Mighty Congo? 1909, over one hundred years ago, was the death of
King Leopold of Belgium the sole owner of the Congo. Even years after he has left this earth and
is no longer in the reign, the long lasting effects he has had on the people and the land has forever
changed the Congo. The memories left behind from the atrocities that occurred and the diminished
resources due to extreme exploitation has prompted the author Adam Hochschild to write the
novel, King Leopold s Ghost. Using an Afrocentric point of view Hochschild describes how the
events that took place under Leopold s orders were acts of true terror and inhumanity. Where is the
Congo? Who are they? What is the mighty Congo? The Congo refers to the large... Show more

During King Leopold s time he was scrambling for a way to create wealth, but could not dabble in
the trade of Africans because of new abolition laws, then he got lucky. In the Berlin Conference
held by Otto Von Bismarck, Africawas divided like a cake; pieces were given to European
countries. While they had decided that they were respecting human rights, it was also believed
that Africans needed to be governed. Through this Leopold gained the territory of the Congo,
marking the beginning of colonialism, an era of unequal wealth and poverty. The definition of
Economic Liberalism is the idea of approaching the market with private property, limited
government intervention and the encouragement that a free market will be driven by supply and
demand fueled by citizens that desire to succeed.... This is the complete opposite approach
Leopold took in the Congo. In a free market, there is the notion that it will succeed because the
people want to work for their own success. In the Congo, Stanley, Leopold s consultant doing the
groundwork, refers to the locals as lazy and needing guidance while he promotes the gospel of
enterprise, (68) known today as free enterprise. Almost as if going along with Modernization
Theory, he continues to say that they are too idle and the issue is Africans themselves, they are
barbaric and clothesless. In a treaty created between the Belgians and the locals through Stanley,
they decide the payment for the forced

Prison Reform Research Paper
Nowadays , almost all of the criminals are sent to prison , but I think that is not a good way for
punishment of prisoners , and I think sent them to special school is better than sent them to prison .
The main purpose and function as the prison system are to reform the criminals , and it is proved
that the existing prison system in many countries has no way to achieve this goal . When the
criminals are locked up , they will be asked to be locked up with the rest of the criminal . Maybe
a criminal just made some small mistakes , and when he was put in prison , he would be
influenced by others . While others may be felons, made a serious crime . Therefore , the offender
may be affected by other people , after his release from prison , not only on their own behavior
without any conscious awareness , but there may be a more serious crime . Obviously , the prison

There is a need to analyze the real cause of the crime . There are two main reasons : first , the
most criminals are criminals because they have not received a good education , so their legal
consciousness is very weak . Many people will think that they do not have anything wrong , and
did not touch the bottom line of the law . Secondly , because they have not received a good
education , . So they do not have any professional skills and to feed their skills . So , in order to
survive , they can only rely on the way to solve these crimes . When have they released from
prison , they still face the same problem . Because they still don t have any survival skills , they
still can t find a good job . And , worse , their experience in prison will be a stain on their lives ,
which makes it harder for them to find the right job . Therefore , education and training are
relatively better choice . Criminals can learn a lot of professional knowledge and skills , so that

The Effect Of Angular Momentum On Classical Mechanics
INTRODUCTION
We know the importance of Angular Momentum in Classical Mechanics; the total angular
momentum of an isolated physical system is a constant of the motion. For example, if a point
particle P, of mass m, is moving in a central potential (one which depends only on the distance
between P and a fixed point O), the force to which P is subjected is always directed towards O. Its
moment with respect to O is consequently zero, and the angular momentum theorem implies that
derivative of L (Angular momentum of P with respect to O) with respect to time is zero.
This fact has important consequences: the motion of the particle P is limited to a fixed plane (the
plane passing through O and perpendicular to the angular momentum L); moreover, this motion
obeys the law of constant areal velocity (Kepler s Second Law).
All these properties have their equivalents in Quantum Mechanics. With the angular momentum L
of a classical system is associated with an observable L, actually a set of three observables, Lx, Ly,
and Lz, which correspond to the three components of L in a Cartesian Frame. These three
observables commute with the Hamiltonian H for a particle in the central potential V(r). This
property simplifies the determination and classification of eigenstates of H.
Quantization of Angular Momentum: the component, along a fixed axis, of the intrinsic angular
momenta are quantized, which enables us to understand atomic magnetism, the Zeeman Effect, etc.

The Outbreak Of Acute Gastroenteritis
Introduction
An outbreak of infection or foodborne illness may be defined either as two or more linked cases
of the same illness, or as the situation when the observed number of cases unaccountably exceeds
the expected number (Food standard Agency, 2006). However, the World Health Organisation
(WHO) defines it as, any disease of an infectious or toxic nature caused by or thought to be caused
by the consumption of food or water Norovirus is the most common known cause of infectious
intestinal disease in Western Europe and North America [1 3] and one of the leading causes of
foodborne outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis [4 9]. It has been estimated that there are over 600,000
cases of norovirus infection in England each year [10], with infection rates peaking during the
winter months that lend the disease the initial description winter vomiting disease (Mounts et al.,
2000 EFSA).
Background
Noroviruses were first recognized in the year 1968 following an outbreak of gastroenteritis at an
elementary school in Norwalk, Ohio in the USA (Adler and Zickl,1969). For many years they
were known as Norwalk like viruses (NLV), or as small round structured viruses (SRSVs),
because of their appearance when viewed under an electron microscopy. Norovirus belongs to the
family Caliciviridae and is a non enveloped, single stranded positive RNA virus with a genome tail
and a single capsid polypeptide molecular mass (Greenberg,1981). Norovirus have a characteristic

Revenge In Beowulf And Iliad
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary Vengeance or revenge is defined as a punishment
inflicted in retaliation for an injury or offense . Vengeance could be classified as a form of justice
at times. And is seen through Beowulf and Iliad. In Beowulf, it seen through numerous characters.
Revenge is a unique emotion in which is can be very motivating to accomplish a certain task, to
serve for justice. In Iliad, Achillesusing the feeling of Revenge to complete his journey. Comparing
the two stories, vengeances is shown in both, and both stories have a unique way of related the

The love a mother shares for her child is unexpectedly powerful, and although Grendel s mother
may be weaker and smaller in size compared to Beowulf, she has he own advantages, as she is
fighting in her own cave which was under the lake. She put up a fight under her mother s fury,
and her spike and heath of revenge as she realizes that it was Beowulf that killed her son,
although Beowulf defeated her with the help of his weapons and his skills from being a warrior.
Grendel s mom was the first fight of revenge within the poem, and it served as a warning to
mankind, that everyone must not fight based purely on revenge, and it will not end in favor of the
city. It therefore, proves that that holding on to someone or something for long periods of time,
could eventually destroy oneself mentally or physically. It is interesting to that the revenge of
Grendel s mother almost was a example to take not, that revenge doesn t solve our problems, this
seems to be mentioned again at the end of the poem by Wiglaf.
Another example of revenge seen in the poem Beowulf is the Germanic tribe. With this example, it
is unique in the sense that the Germanic tribe was used in hopes of peace in Garland. Hrothgar was
hoping to make peace by having his daughter marry into the Hathobards. Although upon, Beowulf
return, he saw that this plan had its flaws and was unsure of the success of the plan.

The River In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
Quenching for knowledge, Siddhartha travels in search of nirvana. Throughout his journey, he
encounters the river several times. Each time he encounters the river he is in different phase of
his self, which leads him to his goal of salvation. The river is present in Siddhartha s spirituality,
it provides him with lust, and gives him true unity in the end. Siddhartha grew up alongside a
riverbank and is born as the son of a Brahmin. He bathes and performs his ritual ablutions in the
water. Siddhartha begins to become unsatisfied with this simple life. Siddhartha wishes to find

Then what penetrates his conciseness is the OM of perfect completion . He gazes at the river,
noting that what he hears is the voice of its current speaking powerfully and purely. Siddhartha
dies in the water, but becomes reborn anew. Through this, he obtains his salvation and achieves his
harmonious relationship with the world, which is nirvana. Through contemplation of the river,
Siddhartha learns to understand every aspect of life. He notices that it exists always the same and
yet at every moment new. This symbolizes the circle of life. The river also brought little
Siddhartha and Govinda both to Siddhartha. The defiance of his son resembles his own towards his
father , which demonstrates life s full circle. He and Govinda are later reunited by the river after
taking separate paths. Furthermore, the river teaches Siddhartha that time has no existence; it just
flows eternally. His soul, even after death, shall continue to flow eternally. Throughout the story the
river guides Siddhartha, enabling him to find oneness among his experiences. As Siddhartha
achieves his peace and self through the river, he smiles as the perfect Buddha does, for he has

A Report On Worldwide Monetary Forms Like Clockwork
The Department of Treasury requires Congress to to deliver this report on worldwide monetary
forms like clockwork. The report has sort of developed into an approach to weight different
nations on their monetary standards. Timothy Geithner, the Treasury Secretary is taking the
route of the two track approach. As said, he s not marking China as the controller of cash. Be
that as it may, he likewise says the Treasury will consistently screen China s cash/Yuan.
Currently China has released the yuan s peg to the dollar value. Be that as it may, the yuan has
risen not exactly a percent against the dollar from that point forward. The yuan exchanges China,
where it holds fast to the one percent band from the settled value each day. Be that as it may, it
additionally exchanges outside of China, where the business sector does not need to hold fast to
the one percent band (consider it like a seaward market for yuan). Given that throughout the
previous halt, for a while the estimation of the yuan has been relentlessly pushed higher versus the
dollar by the government of the Chinese, the Chinese created a convey exchange. Speculators can
obtain dollars at zero percent, and after it levered up and purchased yuan, for that it s the most
appreciated part. It s not divergent from what we saw that was about to occur in the development of
the markets. (www.marketplace.org) The business procedures of Walmart depend on the low

Les Miserables Essay
Throughout the book Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, Eponine s love for Marius is very evident.
Marius is oblivious to this, and only recognizes it once Eponine confesses her love for him.
Marius is blind to the fact, and overlooks Eponine. Eponine falls blindly in love with Marius,
knowing that he will never loveher. The first time she meets him, was at his apartment to give him
a begging letter from her father. Trying to impress him, she shows her ability to read and write
by reading aloud a passage from a book, and then writes, THE COGNES ARE HERE (Hugo 231).
She then opens up to him about her life and her hardships. Marius feels pity for her and gives her
five francs, and she thanks him.
In the movie, Eponine says Little he knows. Little he sees. She is talking to Marius and how he
doesn t really see the true potential in her. Eponine is smart and tough, but is also sensitive and
lonely. Since he doesn t love her, she feels little self worth. Marius s moods change though
according to his circumstances, so he doesn t always recognize what she is feeling. When Cosette
leaves for Paris, Marius asks Eponine to find Cosette s address. She finds out that he is only in
love with Cosette. While unhappy with his request, she still agrees to help him find her for him

ends up kissing her forehead. And then, do you know, Monsieur Marius, I believe I was a little in

Essay about Mary Paul s Letters
Essay Assignment: Market Revolution
During the nineteenth century, America went through a number of social, economic and political
changes. Revolutions in manufacturing and commerce led to substantial economic growth. Several
cultural movements reformed American society. Mary Paul, once just a normal girl from Vermont,
led a life that was shaped by the changes of the 1800 s. The information gathered from Mary Paul s
letters to her father make it clear that Mary s life experiences turned her into anything but an
average woman. However, in the scope of the economic and cultural reforms of the nineteenth
century, Mary Paul represents the average American. Before the Marketing Revolution, women had
a very limited role in society. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually, Mary Paul s pursuit of success and happiness takes her in a different direction. She
begins to show dissatisfaction with Lowell after working there for only a month. She describes
the dangers of working at the mill, one girl fell down and broke her neck... The same day a man
was killed by cars. Another had nearly all of his ribs broken. Another was nearly killed by falling
down and having a bale of cotton fall on him. Safety was one reason that Mary began to have
doubts about working at Lowell. She also writes, I am very tired tonight... If I thought I could
make a decent living at C[laremont] I would come back there. The aspects of working at Lowell
that once fascinated Mary Paul no longer fit her needs and desires. In a fashion similar to how the
Market Revolution changed her definitions of happiness and success, a new revolution soon
changed these definitions again. During the nineteenth century several cultural reforms occurred in
America. Some movement encouraged individualism, while others encouraged communalism. In
general, these movements served to counter the growth of capitalism during the Marketing
Revolution. Many reformers set up utopian societies, in which they would lead their reformed
lives. Charles Fourier was a reformed who was against the system of labor for wages. In response to
the capitalist waged labor, he created groups called phalanxes. The members

Group Reflection Paper
Forum 12
Johan Rivera
Liberty University
Introduction
In this forum, will be addressing the important concepts learned about groups. Will be describing
my personal experience working with my assigned group for this course. Furthermore, will be
addressing the main three concepts learned through the duration of this course. Those concepts are
tribulation, integrity, and team.
Group
Group work is a teaching strategy that promotes academic achievement and socialization (Frykedal,
Chiriac, 2011). This method is often used since allow individuals to combine their skills with the

39). Part of the role of an efficient leader is to recognize that conflicts and unexpected situations
will be presented in any type of organization. Leaders will have to make critical and tough
decisions that might bring tribulation. A leader should be able to take control of the situation and
provide guidance, always taking in consideration the safety and well being of those who follow. It
is important that leaders make choices that protects the organization and others from undue
distraction to the mission (Dees, 2013, p. 44).
Integrity
Integrity is simply telling the truth or staying true to a set of values (Dees, 2013, p80). Integrity
is essential in the effectiveness of a leader. Integrity is often cited as a critical component of
leadership (Palanski, Simons, TreviГ±o, 2011). An effective leader understands the need to be an
example of honesty and truthfulness. While leaders may wholeheartedly agree with the concept
for a subordinate to fully embrace effective followership, he or she must trust in the leader
/follower relationship (Satterlee, 2013, p. 7). Followers will place their trust in a leader that act
upon values, moral principles and beliefs. Leaders should understand that every decision would
have an effect on those around themselves. The more choices you make based on integrity, the
more this highly prized value will affect your relationships with family and friends, and finally, the
fundamental acceptance of yourself (Dees, 2013, p.

following five historical cultural periods: Enlightenment Culture; Greco Roman Culture; Judeo
Christian Culture; Renaissance Reformation Culture; and Industrialization Modernism Culture. It
also embodies examples of each era that are clearly stated, and how they relate to the cultural
period. The cultural identity of the Enlightenment can be described as emphasizing the possibilities

Epicureanism is a philosophy based on the teachings of the Greek philosopher Epicuris. His views
coincide with those of Heisenberg in the way that they display the incertitude of how it is
impossible to know exactly what things will do or go. In example, he suggested that even atoms
are free to move around spontaneously, without order. Any invention or its inventor would fit nicely
into this cultural topic. Eli Whitney, for instance, and the cotton gin. This invention was one of the
most important, it created a very substantial movement in history. Whitney used scientific
knowledge to produce a machine that produced economic progress along with the advancement of
less manual labor, and more production for sales. The Greco Roman culture is one of a male
dominant society, and conflicting obedience views. The idea was that men were controlled by
reason, and women were controlled by passion, and that if women were not controlled by the
practical reasoning men, that disastrous consequences would occur. The male prevalence in this
civilization was evident in all perspectives of life including the arts that were created during this
time period. For instance, the women were portrayed as clothed, mysterious, and deviant looking
and the men as nude, perfected, and authoritative. This philosophical belief, was taken to the
absolute extreme. Men were in a sense, afraid, of the

The Pros And Cons Of Going To College
Going to college is a personal decision, not a public one. The decision whether or not to go to
college should only be the student s only, no one else s. Pressuring a high school graduate into
going to is unfair, why? The reasoning being is that not all high school graduates need to go to
college in order to live a happy and secure life. Educationis not for everyone. Some high school
students cannot stand being at school at all. Why should people who do not like school go to college
? The supporters for this side, the side that disagrees, can see why people want all graduates to
go to college. A lot of great paying jobs require a college degree, that is a fact that nobody can

Quality Matters Related Issues And Course Design
ENV 1053 and ENV 1073
Quality Matters related issues/course design:
There are no major issues related to Quality Matters; I will touch upon a few of the design issues
that came up during the review.
One of the really good things about these courses is in the incorporation of case studies. Each
week or chapter features a case study that s taken right from the course textbook. I ve advocated
in other courses for the use of case studies and I think this course serves as a starting point to
incorporate them into these other courses. The challenge I think here is that while the case
studies are incorporated into the students final grade, the stakes are so low that students may
complete only a few or none of the case studies. However the overall grade for discussion forums
/case studies is only 4% of the final grade. As such students can complete none of the discussion
forums/case studies and still receive a strong grade in the course. My suggestion would be to
limit the number of case studies to four, and create case studies that combine several of the
weeks for units into one, each worth 2 1/2% of the final grade. Students not completing any of
the case studies as a result we ll lose 10% of their final grade. This is enough to make or break a
student s grade, between b and a. My suggestion is similar for the critical thinking questions that
are part of each week s activities. There are a lot of them and they count for very little in terms of
course grade(s).

Outer Ear: The Pinna gathers sound and sends it down the ear canal. The twists and folds of the
pinna enhance high frequency (pitched) sounds and also help us to determine the direction of
the sound source (AAC). Ear wax is developed by two thirds of the ear s external canal, the
remaining is bone. The Meatus or ear canal is a 2 3 cm of cartilage that strengthens the sound
coming in. Middle Ear: The Tympanic Membrane is hit by sound waves causing the eardrum to
vibrate as such then transferring that energy into mechanical energy. Out of the eardrum and onto
three bones, Malleus which is connected to the drum passing sounds on to the Incus that sits on
top of the hammer and collects vibrations. Ending with the Stapes which is responsible for
compression of the waves so they can travel through the inner ear. The Cochlea is home to many
nerve cells that are capable of damaging and are impossible to grow back. The Cochlea s
frequency selectivity refers to the ability of the auditory system to identify tonal components in
complex sound. It largely depends on the filtering ability of the cochlea and its tuning properties are

Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar )
Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar Disorder is a mental illness, which involves hypomanic episodes, which are changes in
someone s usual mood. Originally, Bipolar Disorder was called manic depression because it does
share similar symptoms with people diagnosed with depression. Bipolar Disorder is a severe
condition because it can cause mania, which then causes hallucinations and paranoid rage.
(Bipolar Disorder) Bipolar Disorder is classified into two categories, bipolar type 1 and bipolar
type 2. Bipolar type 2 is more serious because there is more major depression episodes. (Bipolar
Disorder) A study done by Revista Brasileria de Psiquitra, shows a higher prevalence of Bipolar
Disorder type 1 but overall both are pretty low in the general population. (Clemente) Because
Bipolar Disorder is a mood disorder, the causes are unknown. (Bipolar Disorder) Even though they
don t know the root of the illness, doctors have found reasons that could have contribution. One of
these would be genetics and its most common with people who have relatives that have already
been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Also, after research doctors have discovered that patients
with bipolar disorder seem to have physical deviations with their brains. Another factor could be a
chemical imbalance with neurotransmitters. They also have discovered that stress, alcohol, and
drugs could also initiate the first manic episode. (Mayo Clinic)
The symptoms for bipolar disorder are separated into three categories:

Use Of The Greek Word Logos
My word study will focus on the use of the Greek word logos in the opening section of the John,
namely 1:1 14. The word is used in a couple of remarkable ways in this passage, namely because
it is personified and associated with God and his creative work. Furthermore, this logos is said
to take on flesh and dwell with humans and to enlighten all of existence. We are also told that,
although the vast majority of men reject this logos in flesh, a handful do accept him. These
experience transformation and are no longer considered to be born of natural descent, but to be
children of God. Greek Usage The Greek word logos has the general meaning of word, statement,
utterance, discourse, meaning, matter or reckoning. A derivation of lego, it appears as early as
the works of Homer. It began to be used in a philosophical context in 500 B.C. by Heraclitus, who
used it to express an instrument of thought that expresses the thought itself and its conclusion. As a
concept logos was used to include any information given by the senses, and the underlying
principle that related objects to each other in a sort of universal law. However, for other
philosophers the word could be used in different ways. For instance, Parmenides used the word to
express pure thought apart from the 1 senses. The Stoic philosophers used the term in a very
different way, giving it the meaning of rhetorical and argumentative ability for an individual. By the
third century the term began

Rhetorical Analysis On Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai: The Young Advocate
The Nobel Peace Prize is an international prize that is awarded annually by the Norwegian Nobel

chemistry, literature, medicineВё and peace annually since 1901. It is said that in Nobel s will
the Peace Prize is to go to whoever shall have done the most of the best work for fraternity

on July 12, 1997, grew up to become an advocate for girls education. She believed that girls
demanded the right to be allowed to receive an education and with that she received a death threat
from a Taliban. On October 9, 2012, Malala was traveling home from school and she was shot in
the head by a Taliban gunman. She was left in critical condition but she miraculously survived.
After her recovery, she continued to be an advocate for women s education and gave a speech at
the United Kingdom. In October 2014, Yousafzai received the Nobel Peace Prize, becoming the

The Effects Of Stress On Students With Stress Management
Relief Stress is something everyone deals with on different levels and in different ways. Stress
can originate from daily hassles, bad time management, and big life changing decisions. College is
where all three of these appear to meet; whether it be deciding what career to chase, the impending
terror of midterms, or what to eat for lunch stressis surrounding college students. If universities do
not look into ways of helping students with stress management, than students are not only at risk of
a rough college experience but they are possible health issues. The Universityof Oklahoma has
taken into consideration that stress affects its students; they have posted a guide line of signs of
stress and how to deal with it on the OU Police Department page. My question is why is the
information on the OUPD site instead of where it can be more visible? Do students even know
about the page and is the page even mentioned to incoming freshmen? Are there ways the
university prepares or informs students of the stress they may deal with while in college? With
the current page titled College Stress buried in the OU police department webpage not many
people are going to find the page. For someone to find this page they would need to go to the
OUPD web page and look under the first aid and health tab to find the information. The
information on the site is divided up into four categories; the first one is Effects of Stress on Your

Billy Elliot And Bent It Like Beckham
Everybody has dreams, but sometimes those dreams are difficult to realize because those dreams
don t match with the values and customs of the society they are in .The message presented in the
movies Bent it like Beckham, directed by Gurinder Chadha (2002) and Billy Elliot, directed by
Stephen Daldry(2000) is the rebellion of the main characters against their own culture to pursue
their dream. The theme is shown through cultural settings and the comparison of the relationship

context of both films is a huge obstacle to the main characters dream. Jess comes from an Indian

Billie Jo s Piano Playing In Out Of The Dust By Karen Hesse
In the book Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse, it shows how a girl and her family had been affected
by the Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl had destroyed their crops leaving them with little to no income.
The Dust Bowl caused hardships that they had to experience and work through. I am going to
explain how Billie Jo s pianoplaying is tied to other good and bad things in hers and the families

Relationship Between Catullus And Lesbia
Option 2: Catullus and Lesbia s Relationship
Introduction
Lesbia is the subject of Catullus s most passionate and seemingly sincere poems. The relationship
between Catullus and Lesbia is tumultuous to say the least. His poems about Lesbia and their
relationship display a wide range of emotions which change from a relationship of tenderness and
love, to one of uncertainty, to one of sorrow and disappointment. They rapidly fall in and out of
love with another. Their affections for one another are fickle and constantly changing. They have a
mercurial kind of love. Catullus obviously loved Lesbia deeply, but he also feels intense dislike,
disappointment and contempt towards her. Through it all, it seems as though Catullus longs for

He has succumbed to his weakness for her. Catullus describes his love and jealously as a sort of
illness, to see and hear Lesbia talking to another man ravishes his senses, causing his ears to
ring, his eyes to go black and fire to snake through his limbs. Catullus expresses his suffering in
physical terms. The symptoms he lists indicate an intense psychological state of anxiety He has
become jealous of a man who is interacting with her. He describes his feelings of agony when he
sees her. The relationship at this point is not reciprocal. Catullus describes how her presence
leaves him feeling weak and speechless. Once again he is besotted with her. Catullus describes
how dense darkness blinds him when he sees Lesbia. The darkness here may be the blind love
that many experience when they are madly in love with someone to the point that they cannot
see their faults. He also warns himself against leisure for he knows that brooding over her will
only lead to his demise. Otium is dangerous only so far as Catullus is concerned. It is not bad in
itself but because of the use to which Catullus puts it, he has gone beyond the proper bounds. He
uses his otium to think about Lesbia, but he goes too far and is brought to suffer. The exemplum of
lines 15 16 underscores this pain: otium has destroyed even kings and cities; it can destroy
Catullus, too. There is no humor

Monetronic Financial Crisis
Monetarists connection with the financial crises has its origins on the most influential economist
since 1970, Milton Friedman. Friedman and Schwartz (1963) argued that financial crises are
largerly exogenous phenomena and connected them with banking panics. As they documented,
bank panics lead to decline in money supplybecause depositors withdraw their deposits and banks
move to reserves rather than loans (Mishkin, 1992, pp. 122 124). The decline in money supply
follows the contraction of aggregate economic activity and the price level. It is worth mentioning,
in the early view of monetarism, decreasing asset prices and increasing business failures cannot
characterized as financial crisis, if no bank panic occurs (Mishkin, 1992, p. 116).... Show more

1441 1442) mention that, in this model, shocks due to innovation and/or expectations can generate
credit cycles and asset price fluctuations. Furthermore, they highlights three worth considering
properties of this model related with the recent credit boom. First, loose monetary policy may not
fully explain credit booms and asset bubbles because a decline in interest rate increase the money
demand and the price of assets but the result on credit demand is ambiguous. The unclear effect on
credit demand occurs because the positive effect of declining interest rate and the negative effect
of lower cost of equity. Second, demand for credit and asset prices increase if expectation for
higher future asset prices exist. In that case, the result in money demand is not certain. The higher
asset prices influence positively money demand but the expected return of real assets negatively.
Ultimately, the expansion of credit, due to for example financial innovations, to lead to lower
interest rates and higher money demand and asset

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Research Paper
An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is an area in the lower part of the aorta that becomes
enlarged.1 The aorta is usually about the width of a garden hose,1 but when it dilates 1.5 times the
diameter of its normal width (commonly about 3 cm) it is then termed a AAA.2 Although an
aneurysm can occur along any part of the aorta, it is termed abdominal along any segment below
the diaphragm.3 An aneurysm above the level of the diaphragm is termed thoracic. 1 The most
common location for a AAA to occur is the infrarenal segment,2 therefore it is common practice to
restrict the term AAA to that portion of the aorta.3 There are two types of AAA, bulging and
dissecting.1,3 Bulging (or ballooning) aneurysms can be either fusiform or saccular.4 Most
aneurysms are fusiform since the whole artery is affected, but in more rare cases can be saccular.3

the connective tissue disorders associated with AAA have been identified in chromosome 11 and

Water Pollution And Its Effects On The Environment
Water covers almost 75% of the earth s surface and is undoubtedly our most precious natural
resource that exists on our planet today. There won t be any living organism on our planet without
water. Water Pollution occurs when a body of water is severely affected due to addition of large
amount of materials to the water.[Missouri Botanical Garden] Pollutions such as sewage and
fertilizers contain nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates. At high levels, nutrients can over
stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and algae. Excessive growth of these types of organisms
consequently clogs our waterways, use up dissolved oxygenas they decompose, and block light to
deeper waters.[David Krantz] This could be very harmful to aquatic organisms as it affects the
respiration ability of fish and other creatures of the sea. Pollution is also caused when silt and
other suspended solids, such as soil, washoff plowed fields, construction and logging sites,
urban areas, and eroded river banks when it rains.[David Krantz] Pollution in the form of
organic material enters waterways in many different forms as sewage, as leaves and grass
clippings, or as runoff from livestock feedlots and pastures. When natural bacteria and protozoan
in the water break down this organic material, they begin to use up the oxygen dissolved in the
water. Many types of fish and bottom dwelling animals cannot survive when levels of dissolved
oxygen drop below two to five parts per million. When this occurs, it

number of symbols to express his different views on racism throughout the story. Wolff uses this
literary device to express a message to his readers. Symbols, something representing something else
by association resemblance or convention, are used efficiently in this short story.
Wolff uses colors to symbolize a hatred for an alternative racein this short story. The husband

world in black and white. The husband sees the world as good vs. evil, white vs. black society.

The cut she had from the silverware symbolizes the hurt on the inside. The pain from inside was
symbolizing the pain on the inside. Her husband s inconsiderate feelings for alternate races
made her feel like she didn t know him as well as she thought she did. Wolff used symbolization
very effectively by comparing the pain on the outside to the pain on the inside. Wolff s decision
to put in this description of dirty water was not because Wolff hates washing dishes. Wolff put
that in there to show a deeper meaning to it. Wolff is trying to show the husband s views on the
topic being discussed indirectly. Wolff shows a deeper meaning when the husband is continuing
to wash the dishes. He is spraying the silverware and darkened to pale blue (Wolff 518). This
shows again the husband s reference to colors. This happened right after the wife asked if he
would marry her if she were black. Wolff added this symbolism right after the question to
indirectly show the husbands feelings toward the topic. He shows his dislike for African
Americans when he refused to answer the question. Wolff uses colors to show his negative feelings
towards interracial relationships. This symbolization helps contribute to his theme of the husband s
strong dislike for African Americans. Wolff uses excellent symbols to express his message or

Poly (Оµ caprolactone) is an aliphatic polyester that is commonly used for biomedical
applications as well as for tissue engineering and drug delivery. The physical and biological
properties of PCL makes it a useful biomedical material[7].
Because PCL contains five CH2 Moieties in its repeating units, it doesn t degrade quickly which
makes it suitable for commercial sutures or delivery devices as well as for applications requiring
a long term load[8]. In addition, due to the fact that the aliphatic ester linkage of PCL is
susceptible to hydrolysis, it is likely to undergo hydrolytic degradation [4, 5, 9].
Poly(lactic co glycolic acid) (PLGA) is a good material for preparing scaffolds because its material
properties can be modified to be more extensive by adjusting the molecular range as well as the
lactic acid (LA)/glycolic acid (GA) ratios, unlike the poor characteristics exhibited by pure
polylactic acid and polyglycolic acid. PLGA has been extensively used in bone tissue engineering
in various ways (7 10). It is widely believed that the mechanical properties of bone tissue can be
supported by PLGA scaffolds which take about 4 to 8 weeks to construct [10 12].

Why Was Collectivisation
How significant was collectivisation in Russia up to 1940?
Collectivisation is debatably Stalin s most important policy and the pinnacle of Communism.
Causing drastic changes for the Russian people, it could be argued that collectivisation was very
significant in Russia up to 1940. It was a successful tool used to reaffirm Stalin s power and spread
Socialism; it fueled industrialism, turning Russia into a global superpower once more; but most
tragically, could be named the greatest agricultural and social disaster ever experienced in Russia.
However others may argue that collectivisation was extraneous: industrialisation was the main

rural Russia. Violence levels rocketed as riots against collectivisation broke out all over the
countryside. Many were shocked by the mass slaughter and human misery that it had brought
about. It is estimated that a staggering 10 15 million people died of hunger and violence during the
years of collectivisation; this number alone highlights the significance of collectivisation.
Furthermore, the famine increased as the Soviet government procured grain only for the sake of
doing so. In Ukraine, millions were left to starve in what became known as the Black Famine as the
government rooted out hidden stocks of grain, only to have them rot in warehouses. The situation
was not helped by the elimination of kulaks either; the farming expertise had been purged, thus,
there was no one to pull the peasants out of starvation. Hence, collectivisation was highly
significant as it resulted in a prodigious number of deaths, and agriculturally, was a terrible

Native Americans in the United States and Squanto Essay
Squanto Squanto is a Native American who lived in the early seventeenth century in what is now
the Northeast United States. When the English came to this area of America to settle, they
became very fond of Squanto and used him as a translator due to his unique knowledge of the
English language acquired through an earlier voyage to Europe. Squanto helped the Pilgrims adapt
to their new surroundings by providing them with the knowledge that he and his ancestors used to
survive when they first settled in this area. He became known as a friend to the English and a
spokesman for his Native friends (Johnson p.2). However, in helping the English, Squanto realized
the power he had obtained through his position and used it for his own gain... Show more content on

He also acted as an interpreter and a guide to help make the English more comfortable around the
indigenous people (). Without Squanto s help, the Pilgrims would probably have had severe
famine over the next year, and would have lived in constant fear of their indian neighbors (Johnson
p.2); the English could not have survived without the knowledge that Squanto had given them.
However, the friendly side of Squanto is traditionally the only one taught to the American public,
in which he is portrayed as an extremely friendly Native American who devoted much of his time
and effort to helping the European settlers adapt to their newly acquired land. It is true that
Squanto was a great help to the English settlers, however many modern texts, articles, and essays
concerning Squanto neglect to include his betrayal of many Native American tribes in what is
now Connecticut and Long Island(Vine p. 201 ). Many elementary educated students are led to
believe that Squanto simply saved the newcomers from starvation В… and [taught] the Pilgrims
how to survive (David p. 24). This misconception of Squanto is the exact opposite of what many
Natives thought of him(Vine p.201). He became aware of his position with the English and began
to threaten the indians by telling them he would release the plague (Johnson p.2) on them if they
did not do what they were told. He also provided the English with certain secrets that allowed them
to easily defeat other

`` Atonement `` By Ian Mcewan
In today s society, people often times misinterpret things we hear or we tend to make
assumptions about several things such as who said what and worrying about whether or not it
was true. It later becomes a major problem when these misperceptions get out of hand and are
used to penalize someone for something they really didn t do. These people often times can be
kids. Teens specifically tend to have open ears and observe everything. They crave gossip and
secrets and they aren t able to contain themselves and keep it to themselves. Obviously it is possible
that they don t understand what they hear most times, but can easily make it up or give false
information. False accusations lead to difficult situations sometimes critical and can hurt... Show

Furthermore, McEwan uses symbols alongside, motifs such as the Trials of Arabella in order to
explain Briony s mindset as a child. This suggest and supports the idea that Briony being young is
unable to fully grasp and understand her surroundings.
To begin, in part one of Atonement we learn who each character is through the perspective of
different characters. Alongside we get the unique perspective of several scenes that take place. One
very important scene is the fountain scene where Robbie and Cecilia are filling a vase with water
and Robbie causes the vase to slip out of Cecilia s hands breaks some pieces falling into the
fountain. Cecilia acts fast and removes her clothing in order to retrieve the vase piece.
Meanwhile, you have Briony wondering her room and happens to see the two conversing and is
shocked to see Cecilia remove her clothes. Briony begins to assume things instantly The Triton
fountain, and standing by the basin s retaining wall was her sister, and right before her was
Robbie Turner. There was something rather formal about the way he stood, feet apart, head held
back. A proposal of marriage. Briony would not have been surprised. She herself had written a
tale in which a humble woodcutter saved a princess from drowning and ended by marrying her.
What was presented here fitted well. Robbie Turner (36). Here Briony is only able to see the
interactions between Robbie and Cecilia but she can t necessarily hear anything but, it doesn t

The Stereotypes Of Hinduism And Hinduism
Majority of the religions in the world gets stereotyped because of their abnormal customs, beliefs
and rituals. People judge religion by their narrow knowledge about their rituals and customs
because they are abnormal to them. Majority of the stereotypes are believed to be true because of
their lack of understanding. The consequence of the results is the development of stereotypes that
are both negative and positive. Two major religions of India, Hinduismand Sikhism, are often the
targeted audiences of the stereotyping of the western popular culture.
Originated and practiced primarily by the majorities in India, hinduism is the third largest religion
with more than 900 million followers around the world. Hinduism is very diverse because it is a
polytheistic religion with about 330 million gods and goddesses. Many people believe that they
believe and pray all their gods and goddesses but that is just of of the stereotype. Hinduism is
also labeled as a very catioc religion because of the fact that the religion has so many gods,
therefore they think that it is not organized very well. Although Hinduism consist of many gods,
they don t necessarily follow all of them, hence they follow only the ones that are followed by
the people in a particular area. It is also very organised as certain gods are grouped into certain
temples and. The rules are also changed a little across different temples around the world. Prothero

Comparison Of Scottie And Gavin Elster In Poe s Vertigo
The main character of The Black Cat , in Vertigo is divided in two different persons, Scottie and
Gavin Elster. Scottie is the part of the character in PoeВґs story that is obsessed with the cat and
with guilt, it could be said that Scottie represents the past of the narrator when he was still good,
moreover, the narrator states that after all there were parts of his old self that were still present. On
the other hand, Elster is the representation of the evil, perverse part of PoeВґs main character, as he
is the one that invents and commits the crime as well as the way to conceal it. This duality of the
characters is used to portray that good and evil are not separate notions and are not absolute (...).

Effects Of Stress On The Body
Memory performance can often be hijacked by a given load of stress on the body. Stress is both a
versatile agent that disrupts the human body s normal mental, physical, and emotional state, and
the body s natural reaction to change (Staal, 2004). The effects of this amorphous phenomenon
have been studied from a number of angles including but not limited to stress related sleep pattern
disturbances, mood swings, attention spans, weight gain, long term illnesses, and cognitive
function. This review will focus on the effects of psychological stress on people s ability to encode,
store, and retain memories. When the human body is presented with a stressful situation, the body
enters a state of emergency called the fight or flight response, also known as the acute stress
response. Involuntarily, the body s sympathetic nervous system is aroused and releases adrenaline,
norepinephrine, and cortisol from the adrenal glands of the brain. These hormones trigger a series
of physiological responses facilitating acceleration in heart rate and breathing, constriction of blood
vessels, relaxed bladder, inhibition of metabolic digestion, tightened muscles, and sharper vision due
to pupil dilation. This is a result of the human body instinctively protecting itself from threat of pain
or injury by shutting down all of the nonessential systems, and supplying the bodily systems needed
to respond to the emergency with its necessary components, like sufficient amounts of oxygen and

Solomon Northup Slavery
Although some scenes depicted in 12 Years a Slave may not have been accurate to Solomon
Northup s particular experience, they do portray the grisly reality of slavery as a whole with a
jarring honesty.
One of the first things we learn about Solomon is his ability to play the violin. At first glance, this
would seem to simply indicate that he is more privileged than most of his black counterparts to
have the luxury of taking up such a practice, but if you contextualize the long history of black
people only being deemed valuable when exploitable by white people, it paints a much clearer
picture. The scene of Solomon tuning and playing his instrument (in his own space, in his own
time) immediately cuts to a scene of white elites in luxurious

Introduction World order are the activities and relationship between the world states, and other significant non state global actors, that occur within a legal, political and economic frame work. The need for world order has arisen due to the past historical conflicts, colonialism, greater interdependence between nations, and the increased impact of the activities of nation states upon other nation states. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under the UN Charter, the Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security and is argued to have power to intervene in the most serious issues which disrupt world order. At the end of the 1990 91 Gulf War, the Security Council passed Resolution 687, which set out the terms that Iraq s leader Suddam Hussein was to comply with. The resolution required the destruction of all chemical and biological weapons, and ballistic missiles with a range greater than 150 kilometres and required Iraq to submit to a rigorous UN inspection system. Inspections were conducted by United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) and later the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) throughout the 1990s to the US led invasion 2003. The UNSC has proved to be an effective legal response to monitoring conflict and maintaining world order as no weapons of mass destruction were found after the American invasion in 2003. However the UNSC has also shown to be ineffective in some cases. In 1993 North Korea was referred to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for violating its safeguards. Introduction: From the beginning of times it has always been the women s responsibility to rear the children and keep the house tidy, traditional wifely duties. Why? Because kids come from inside of women? Pew Research Center, reports that men spend 4.8 hours a week (in 2011) more with their children than they did in 1965 and six more hours a week (in 2011) on household duties and chores. Women actually spend less time than they did in 1965, a reported fourteen hours less a week in 2011 (USA Today, 2013) .Men and women are learning to work together. Work/life balance is becoming a shared priority which in 1965 was not as women spent most the time in the home. I do find it very interesting that men and women with children both spend about 10 hours less doing leisure activities with kids (USA Today, 2013); I find it interesting only because the number is so much higher than originally thought which suggests that teamwork between husband and wife is beneficial to everyone making better relationships. The percentage of stay at home dads has increased by 3% in 1989 to 7% in 2012 (Pew Research Center, USA Today). Fathers are extremely conflicted today, says Christopher Brown of Cedar Park, Texas, who is executive vice president of the National Fatherhood Initiative, a nonprofit based in Germantown, Md. Internal Controls And Internal Control Contents Introduction1 Analysis of the internal controls1 Conclusion4 Introduction Internal control is the process designed, implemented and maintained by those charged with governance, management and other personnel to provide reasonable assurance about the achievement of an entity s objectives with regard to reliability of financial reporting, effectiveness and efficiency of operations, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The term controls refers to any aspects of one or more of the components of internal control. Even years after he has left this earth and is no longer in the reign, the long lasting effects he has had on the people and the land has forever changed the Congo. The memories left behind from the atrocities that occurred and the diminished resources due to extreme exploitation has prompted the author Adam Hochschild to write the novel, King Leopold s Ghost. While they had decided that they were respecting human rights, it was also believed that Africans needed to be governed. Through this Leopold gained the territory of the Congo, marking the beginning of colonialism, an era of unequal wealth and poverty. The definition of Economic Liberalism is the idea of approaching the market with private property, limited government intervention and the encouragement that a free market will be driven by supply and demand fueled by citizens that desire to succeed.... • 9. The Effect Of Angular Momentum On Classical Mechanics INTRODUCTION We know the importance of Angular Momentum in Classical Mechanics; the total angular momentum of an isolated physical system is a constant of the motion. For example, if a point particle P, of mass m, is moving in a central potential (one which depends only on the distance between P and a fixed point O), the force to which P is subjected is always directed towards O. Its moment with respect to O is consequently zero, and the angular momentum theorem implies that derivative of L (Angular momentum of P with respect to O) with respect to time is zero. This fact has important consequences: the motion of the particle P is limited to a fixed plane (the plane passing through O and perpendicular to the angular momentum L); moreover, this motion obeys the law of constant areal velocity (Kepler s Second Law). All these properties have their equivalents in Quantum Mechanics. With the angular momentum L of a classical system is associated with an observable L, actually a set of three observables, Lx, Ly, and Lz, which correspond to the three components of L in a Cartesian Frame. These three observables commute with the Hamiltonian H for a particle in the central potential V(r). This property simplifies the determination and classification of eigenstates of H. Quantization of Angular Momentum: the component, along a fixed axis, of the intrinsic angular momenta are quantized, which enables us to understand atomic magnetism, the Zeeman Effect, etc. We shall denote by ... Leaders will have to make critical and tough decisions that might bring tribulation. It is important that leaders make choices that protects the organization and others from undue distraction to the mission (Dees, 2013, p. 44). Integrity Integrity is simply telling the truth or staying true to a set of values (Dees, 2013, p80). Integrity is essential in the effectiveness of a leader. Integrity is often cited as a critical component of leadership (Palanski, Simons, TreviГ±o, 2011). An effective leader understands the need to be an example of honesty and truthfulness. While leaders may wholeheartedly agree with the concept for a subordinate to fully embrace effective followership, he or she must trust in the leader /follower relationship (Satterlee, 2013, p. 7). Quality Matters Related Issues And Course Design ENV 1053 and ENV 1073 Quality Matters related issues/course design: There are no major issues related to Quality Matters; I will touch upon a few of the design issues that came up during the review. One of the really good things about these courses is in the incorporation of case studies. Each week or chapter features a case study that s taken right from the course textbook. I ve advocated in other courses for the use of case studies and I think this course serves as a starting point to incorporate them into these other courses. The challenge I think here is that while the case studies are incorporated into the students final grade, the stakes are so low that students may complete only a few or none of the case studies. However the overall grade for discussion forums /case studies is only 4% of the final grade. As such students can complete none of the discussion forums/case studies and still receive a strong grade in the course. My suggestion would be to limit the number of case studies to four, and create case studies that combine several of the weeks for units into one, each worth 2 1/2% of the final grade. Students not completing any of the case studies as a result we ll lose 10% of their final grade. This is enough to make or break a student s grade, between b and a. My suggestion is similar for the critical thinking questions that are part of each week s activities. There are a lot of them and they count for very little in terms of course grade(s). There is ... Outer Ear: The Pinna gathers sound and sends it down the ear canal. The twists and folds of the pinna enhance high frequency (pitched) sounds and also help us to determine the direction of the sound source (AAC). Ear wax is developed by two thirds of the ear s external canal, the remaining is bone. The Meatus or ear canal is a 2 3 cm of cartilage that strengthens the sound coming in. Middle Ear: The Tympanic Membrane is hit by sound waves causing the eardrum to vibrate as such then transferring that energy into mechanical energy. Out of the eardrum and onto three bones, Malleus which is connected to the drum passing sounds on to the Incus that sits on top of the hammer and collects vibrations. Ending with the Stapes which is responsible for compression of the waves so they can travel through the inner ear. The Cochlea is home to many nerve cells that are capable of damaging and are impossible to grow back. Originally, Bipolar Disorder was called manic depression because it does share similar symptoms with people diagnosed with depression. Bipolar Disorder is a severe condition because it can cause mania, which then causes hallucinations and paranoid rage. (Bipolar Disorder) Bipolar Disorder is classified into two categories, bipolar type 1 and bipolar type 2. Bipolar type 2 is more serious because there is more major depression episodes. (Bipolar Disorder) A study done by Revista Brasileria de Psiquitra, shows a higher prevalence of Bipolar Disorder type 1 but overall both are pretty low in the general population. (Clemente) Because Bipolar Disorder is a mood disorder, the causes are unknown. (Bipolar Disorder) Even though they don t know the root of the illness, doctors have found reasons that could have contribution. One of these would be genetics and its most common with people who have relatives that have already been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Also, after research doctors have discovered that patients with bipolar disorder seem to have physical deviations with their brains. Another factor could be a chemical imbalance with neurotransmitters. They also have discovered that stress, alcohol, and drugs could also initiate the first manic episode. • 22. Use Of The Greek Word Logos My word study will focus on the use of the Greek word logos in the opening section of the John, namely 1:1 14. The word is used in a couple of remarkable ways in this passage, namely because it is personified and associated with God and his creative work. Furthermore, this logos is said to take on flesh and dwell with humans and to enlighten all of existence. We are also told that, although the vast majority of men reject this logos in flesh, a handful do accept him. These experience transformation and are no longer considered to be born of natural descent, but to be children of God. Greek Usage The Greek word logos has the general meaning of word, statement, utterance, discourse, meaning, matter or reckoning. A derivation of lego, it appears as early as the works of Homer. It began to be used in a philosophical context in 500 B.C. by Heraclitus, who used it to express an instrument of thought that expresses the thought itself and its conclusion. As a concept logos was used to include any information given by the senses, and the underlying principle that related objects to each other in a sort of universal law. However, for other philosophers the word could be used in different ways. For instance, Parmenides used the word to express pure thought apart from the 1 senses. The Stoic philosophers used the term in a very different way, giving it the meaning of rhetorical and argumentative ability for an individual. By the third century the term began ... Stress can originate from daily hassles, bad time management, and big life changing decisions. College is where all three of these appear to meet; whether it be deciding what career to chase, the impending terror of midterms, or what to eat for lunch stressis surrounding college students. If universities do not look into ways of helping students with stress management, than students are not only at risk of a rough college experience but they are possible health issues. The Universityof Oklahoma has taken into consideration that stress affects its students; they have posted a guide line of signs of stress and how to deal with it on the OU Police Department page. My question is why is the information on the OUPD site instead of where it can be more visible? Do students even know about the page and is the page even mentioned to incoming freshmen? Are there ways the university prepares or informs students of the stress they may deal with while in college? With the current page titled College Stress buried in the OU police department webpage not many people are going to find the page. They rapidly fall in and out of love with another. Their affections for one another are fickle and constantly changing. They have a mercurial kind of love. Catullus describes his love and jealously as a sort of illness, to see and hear Lesbia talking to another man ravishes his senses, causing his ears to ring, his eyes to go black and fire to snake through his limbs. Catullus expresses his suffering in physical terms. The symptoms he lists indicate an intense psychological state of anxiety He has become jealous of a man who is interacting with her. He describes his feelings of agony when he sees her. The relationship at this point is not reciprocal. Catullus describes how her presence leaves him feeling weak and speechless. Once again he is besotted with her. Catullus describes how dense darkness blinds him when he sees Lesbia. The darkness here may be the blind love that many experience when they are madly in love with someone to the point that they cannot see their faults. He also warns himself against leisure for he knows that brooding over her will only lead to his demise. Otium is dangerous only so far as Catullus is concerned. It is not bad in itself but because of the use to which Catullus puts it, he has gone beyond the proper bounds. He uses his otium to think about Lesbia, but he goes too far and is brought to suffer. Friedman and Schwartz (1963) argued that financial crises are largerly exogenous phenomena and connected them with banking panics. As they documented, bank panics lead to decline in money supplybecause depositors withdraw their deposits and banks move to reserves rather than loans (Mishkin, 1992, pp. 122 124). The decline in money supply follows the contraction of aggregate economic activity and the price level. • 36. Water Pollution And Its Effects On The Environment Water covers almost 75% of the earth s surface and is undoubtedly our most precious natural resource that exists on our planet today. There won t be any living organism on our planet without water. Water Pollution occurs when a body of water is severely affected due to addition of large amount of materials to the water.[Missouri Botanical Garden] Pollutions such as sewage and fertilizers contain nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates. At high levels, nutrients can over stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and algae. Excessive growth of these types of organisms consequently clogs our waterways, use up dissolved oxygenas they decompose, and block light to deeper waters.[David Krantz] This could be very harmful to aquatic organisms as it affects the respiration ability of fish and other creatures of the sea. Pollution is also caused when silt and other suspended solids, such as soil, washoff plowed fields, construction and logging sites, urban areas, and eroded river banks when it rains.[David Krantz] Pollution in the form of organic material enters waterways in many different forms as sewage, as leaves and grass clippings, or as runoff from livestock feedlots and pastures. When natural bacteria and protozoan in the water break down this organic material, they begin to use up the oxygen dissolved in the water. Many types of fish and bottom dwelling animals cannot survive when levels of dissolved oxygen drop below two to five parts per million. When this occurs, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This generated a widespread famine and violence in rural Russia. Violence levels rocketed as riots against collectivisation broke out all over the countryside. • 46. Effects Of Stress On The Body Memory performance can often be hijacked by a given load of stress on the body. Stress is both a versatile agent that disrupts the human body s normal mental, physical, and emotional state, and the body s natural reaction to change (Staal, 2004). The effects of this amorphous phenomenon have been studied from a number of angles including but not limited to stress related sleep pattern disturbances, mood swings, attention spans, weight gain, long term illnesses, and cognitive function. This review will focus on the effects of psychological stress on people s ability to encode, store, and retain memories. Involuntarily, the body s sympathetic nervous system is aroused and releases adrenaline, norepinephrine, and cortisol from the adrenal glands of the brain. These hormones trigger a series of physiological responses facilitating acceleration in heart rate and breathing, constriction of blood vessels, relaxed bladder, inhibition of metabolic digestion, tightened muscles, and sharper vision due to pupil dilation. This is a result of the human body instinctively protecting itself from threat of pain or injury by shutting down all of the nonessential systems, and supplying the bodily systems needed to respond to the emergency with its necessary components, like sufficient amounts of oxygen and ... Solomon Northup Slavery Although some scenes depicted in 12 Years a Slave may not have been accurate to Solomon Northup s particular experience, they do portray the grisly reality of slavery as a whole with a jarring honesty. The scene of Solomon tuning and playing his instrument (in his own space, in his own time) immediately cuts to a scene of white elites in luxurious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
