1. Madame Bovary Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Madame Bovary" can be both challenging and intellectually
rewarding. Gustave Flaubert's novel is a complex and nuanced work that delves into themes
such as passion, societal expectations, and the consequences of unchecked desires. The
intricacies of Emma Bovary's character, the narrative structure, and the cultural context in which
the novel was written all contribute to the depth of analysis required.
The challenge lies not only in understanding and interpreting the events and characters within the
novel but also in presenting unique insights and arguments. A successful essay on "Madame
Bovary" requires a careful examination of Flaubert's narrative techniques, the symbolism
embedded in the text, and the historical and cultural factors influencing the characters' actions.
Moreover, writing an essay on this topic involves grappling with literary criticism and scholarly

critical perspectives requires a nuanced approach.

As many other tribe names, the name Tlingit means the people , or essential human
being. The Tlingit are one of the many first nation tribes that lived and still
currently live in Alaska. They live alongside many other tribes, which include the
Northern Haida (Kaigani) and the Tsimshian (de Laguna 1: pp 13). The Tlingit
have formed close ties with the Haida tribe. Though it is estimated that the Haida
are a newer tribe to the area both tribes have common interests and have worked
together to establish a Central Council; in 1935 which according to their website was
originally established to deal with land issues on behalf of the tribes which relied on
their lands for subsistence and survival ( About us www.ccthita.org). Part of the need
for the council is that unlike many tribes many tribes, particularly those of the lower

minority group in the region . While it is possible that there are those who are not on

There is a mutually interactive relationship between the subject, human agents, the
object, and the conditions of their existence. Theories of the individual concentrate on
differences between people and explain these differences as natural. According to
Marxist theorists, individuals are constituted as the possessors of positions through
the effects of social relations. Alternatively theories of the subject concentrate on
people s common experiences in society through watching television, reading the
newspaper or surfing the internet. It is the most important way of distinguishing who
we are. Thus subject identity is a social construction, not a natural one. There is an
association between the development of mass media and social change, although the
degree and direction of this association is still debated upon even after years of study
into media influence. Many of the consequences, either detrimental or beneficial,
which have been attributed to the mass media, are almost undoubtedly due to other
tendencies within society. Few sociologists would disprove the importance of the
mass media, and mass communications as a whole, as being a major factor in the
construction and circulation of social understanding and social imagery in modern
societies. Therefore it is argued that the mass media is used as an instrument , both
more powerful and more flexible than anything in previous
4. How Does Heller Use Satire In Catch 22
Joseph Heller published Catch 22 in 1961 with the novel taking place in a World
War Two setting. Ironically, ideas like patriotism were rare, despite being the
middle of a war and the people who seemed to be likeable to the readers were the
most unliked to the characters within the story. Heller uses the indefinite idea of
Catch 22to redefine the idea of insanity and sanity. Heller s novelCatch 22, is known
as a classic despite the unpopular opinion it strongly forms. Joseph Hellerquestions
how well the U.S. military functions with the use of satirical elements like dry humor,

Rather than creating a positive outlook on the military, he builds a rather negative
one. He gives the readers the perception that the military is undirected and the
system that ran the military clearly needed regulation. This was considered an
unpopular opinion to most people due to the patriotism many Americans had
during the time Catch 22 was published. The reality was most Americans only
knew how to be patriotic for their country and no one truly dared to question
patriotism. He also deemed ideas like McCarthyism with the oaths that Captain
Black forces the soldiers to sign to prove their loyalty. He mocks McCarthyism by
including the fact that if the soldiers did not sign the oaths, they were deemed
unloyal to the United States. This idea itself was a controversy because, the
character Major Major Major Major was considered unloyal by Captain Black due
to the fact that he did not sign the oaths. It was not because he did not want to sign
them, it was because he was not allowed to. This also was an unpopular opinion due
to the Red Scare and the fear Americans developed of the spread of Communism.
Many did not favor this new perspective due to Heller constant questioning of ideas
and beliefs in Catch 22 that most Americans did not

Feminism is an entire world view or gestalt, not just a laundry list of women s issues.
(Bunch, 1979:9) A critical quest for feminisms is the development of theories and
analyses of power. One only needs to start analyzing the material of historical
theorists to identify that there exists the need for feminist theories of power. Feminist
contributions throughout history have been typically assumed much more utilitarian
in their approach. The focus of historical theorists might often be described as more
elusive and often entrenched within the patriarchal systems as opposed to rebelling
against them, often adhering within the paradigm of systematic power instead of
directly challenging the pervasiveness of power itself. Nonetheless, historical efforts
have helped establish the need for contemporary feminisms to interrogate and
challenge systematic power. Power has different manifestations whether systemic or
hierarchical which can be viewed through a feminist critique. Several influential
feminist scholars, including Mary Wollstonecraft, Simone DeBeauvoir, and Audre
Lourde to name but a few help gain a deeper comprehension of the issue. It is evident
that the manifestation of power has affected historical education, law, social training,
and language.
Education has often been used as a tool to facilitate power. Who has been provided
with an opportunity to pursue an education is interesting to analyze. Historically,
women and racial minority men were not provided with

A great part of South Africa s history has been influenced by apartheid, which was
where the black population was oppressed, and the South African society was very
influenced by race segregation. The black population hardly had any freedom and
their daily life was influenced discrimination. This tragic part of South Africas history
is what the author Nadine Gordimer is trying to portray in her short story Country
Lovers (1982). Country Lovers deals with harsh and strong themes, which are shown
through the short story s main characters. The storyline and structure of the short
story are built around the development of the romantic relationship, between the two
main characters Paulus and Thebedi. The romantic relationship between Paulus and...

Thebedi and her family work at the farm, where Paulus lives with his prosperous
family. As kids, the story describes them playing together at the farm, but Paulus
leaves the farm to go to boarding school. This was not an unusual situation, most
white South African children were during this period of time send to boarding
school to get an acceptable education. After the white children went to boarding
school, they would usually not keep having relations with the black children.
Paulus and Thebedi kept having a romantic relationship, even though they both
were very aware of how the society would view an interracial relationship. One can
interpret that as the reason why they are keeping their relationship a secret. As the
story develops and they get older it s very clear that Paulus have the upper hand in
the relationship. This is interpreted because it s always Paulus deciding when and
where they will see each other again. His power over Thebedi is also seen, when
Thebedi comes to his house and isn t allowed into his bedroom. And she is only
allowed to sleep on beds there are covered in plastic sheets. His superior position in
the relationship is a way for Gordimer to demonstrate her criticism towards the South
African society during the

organizations are standing up to the destruction of rainforests around the world, and
have made a large impact on saving the plants and animals that live there. Teen
activism is when a youth group in a community organizes for change. Although
minors are often underrepresented in the organization, they still advocate for an
improvement in society. They can broadcast their opinions in many ways, including
social and political activism. With social activism, they can participate in activities
that they can have a voice in, although still led by adults. They can also partake in
political activism, where students, mainly at school, try to make a difference. They

relation we seek to describe, a rupture that is constitutive of identity itself (Butler
2004, 19). In order for a man to perform his masculinity, it is easier when they are
compared to a feminine woman. The performance of masculinity or femininity will
escalate once these two genders are set side by side, ... power has certain broad
historical characteristics, and that it operates on genderas well as on other kinds of
social and cultural norms, then it seems that gender is but the instance of a larger
regulatory operation of power (Butler 2003, 41). Masculinity performed by men
comes across as a powerful characteristic in a relationship. Through history till now
men play and perform the role of the leader in the household for instance, being seen
as the man of the house. In most households, the man has the most control over trivial
yet symbolically important things such as the upper hand over the remote, sitting at
the head of the table and providing the family with the essentials.
Chris Brickell discusses the ethnomethodology of gender performativity and how
Harold Garfinkel analysed his understanding. The basic idea of a stereotypical woman
would be that she would cook, clean and look after the children while the man
would work hard, provide for the family and come home to rest after a hard day of
work. Brickell describes, This natural attitude requires one to be either a male

role in the ongoing conflict involving the Jewish and the Palestinians, the Arab

aggressive conflict, as well as rejected a few. In May 2004, Lieberman proposed
the Populated Area Exchange Plan . This plan stated that the populations and
territories of Israeli Jews and Arabs would be separated. After disputes over the
plan became more intense, Lieberman was dismissed from the cabinet. After Israeli
elections in 2009, Lieberman said he had fairly recently changed his mind and
decided to support the creation of a Palestinian state. A more recent peace plan was
proposed in late November of 2014. This plan is referred to as the Lieberman Plan .
The Lieberman Plan calls for funding the emigration of Arab citizens in Israel. He
basically wants to move the Arabs into northern Israel creating a new Palestinian
state. Lieberman claims that people who are undecided about Jewish or Muslim
loyalties can choose to be a citizen of the Palestinian state or remain an Israeli. The
plan acknowledges the necessity of territorial compromise with the Palestinians, and
also with moderate Arab countries. Lieberman is willing to give up land because
according to him, the nation of Israel is more important than the land of Israel . A
big part of the Lieberman Plan is his offer to pay Israeli Arabs to move to northern
Israel. He would literally be giving them money to emigrate to northern Israel

12. What Is The Theme Of Saboteur By Ha Jin
The short story, Saboteur by Ha Jin is about a man, Mr. Chiu, who is unjustly
arrested and manhandled after an unpleasant interaction with a police officer in
Muji, China. As a result Mr. Chiu takes matters into his own hands to get revenge on
the people who mistreated him. The theme of abuse of power in Jin s, Saboteur is
revealed through the author s brilliant use of irony, tone, setting, and characterization.
The main element used in the short story, Saboteur is irony. Throughout the story
Mr. Chiu finds himself in many ironic situations. For example, When Mr. Chiu and
his wife are having lunch, a policeman walks by and tosses a bowl of tea in their
direction (288) and has the audacity to deny his actions and accuses Mr. Chiu... Show

As a whole, all these examples of irony help to prove the theme of abuse of power
because they show how the policemen are able to use their positions to overturn the
truth and get Mr. Chiu to sign a letter confessing to a crime of sabotage he didn t
commit and about how Mr.Chiu becomes a saboteur later on himself to get revenge.
In the Saboteur the Tone of the story is direct and harsh. Throughout the entire story
we read about an innocent man being blamed for a crime he didn t commit simply
for the entertainment of the policemen. The Policemen are cruel and arrogant ... the
stout policeman at the next table stood up and threw a bowl of tea in our direction.

men are wrongly accused and mistreated by men who are supposed to prevent such
situations. The Tone makes the theme of abuse of power evident through its brutality
and injustice. Moreover, the setting in a story greatly influences a character s
behavior and actions. In Saboteur , the story takes place in communist china
demonstrated by the concrete statue of Chairman Mao in the center of the square in
the city of Muji where Mr. Chiu is enjoying lunch with his wife. Mao Zedong was the
leader of the Chinese Communist Party who launched the
13. Tidal Power
Engineering Design for Sustainability
TIDAL WAVE ENERGY
Introduction
Tidal power is a form of energy which derives directly from the relative motions of
the Earth/Moon system, and to a lesser extent from the Earth/Sol system.
Tidal energy is gained from the exchange of large bodies of water. Changes in water
levels, and associated tidal currents, are due to the gravitational pull of the Sun and
Moon. This makes Tidal Power completely predictable; furthermore, because it is
created by relative motion of the special bodies, it is in exhaustible.
Therefore Tidal power is much more reliable than other renewable sources such as
wind or solar power and will long outlast fossil fuels.

It is estimated that tidal power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At high tide sea water flows into the reservoir through a one way gate. The gate
closes when the tide begin to fall and when the tide is low enough, the stored water is
released at pressure through turbines, back into the sea. The rotation of these turbines
generates electricity.
The first commercial scale tidal generating barrage rated at 240 MW was built in La
Rance. There is smaller plant in Nova Scotia, rated at 20 megawatts (enough power
for 4,500 homes).
The Dam for the tidal power plant on the estuary of the Rance River, Bretagne, France
The viability of Barrage systems has been questioned due to high civil infrastructure
costs and environmental issues. Although this method have proven very durable,
barrage style power plants are very expensive to build and are fraught with
environmental problems from the accumulation of silt within the dam catchment area
(requiring regular, expensive dredging).
There are only a few potential sites across the globe and there are only three
functioning plants worldwide (Rance River, Bay of Fundy and Kislaya Guba).
Tidal Stream Systems
Engineers have created two new kinds of devices to harness the energy of tidal
currents and generate renewable, pollution free electricity. These are: Vertical axis
and Horizontal axis models. They are determined by the orientation of a subsea,
rotating shaft that turns a gearbox linked to a turbine with

The Dawes Act of 1887 was one of the biggest debates in history after the Civil
War. The plan was meant to help American Indians, but it had many flaws and
downfalls that it hurt them more than it helped. The act, proposed by Senator Henry
Dawes in 1887, granted plots of land of different sizes, depending on family rank
and age, to Native Americans. It also made it possible for any Native American born
in the United Statesa path to citizenship. It stated that all the Native Americans had

Managing unrealistic tenant expectations is an unavoidable challenge that every

As you read through the following four tips for managing tenant disputes and

with a special request, it is critical to make sure you understand what he wants or

what he is trying to accomplish will take far less time than listening to the demands

17. The Consequences Of High School Dress Code In Public
Schools
Approximately 64% of the United States public education system requires a strict
dress code. How does the dress code affect the students and how does it benefit
them? Do the students have a say in this dress code policy? Do they have a fair vote
on how dress code violations should be addressed? There are so many questions on
how the students defend their rights in the public school system, yet they cannot
have the opportunity to have their opinions heard. Dress codeamongst the years have
changed amongst the years and not for the better. High Schooldress code is
demoralizing towards females and the consequences are exorbitant.
Dress code has been administrated all across the world and thousands upon
thousands of students have complained about their school dress code. Some dress
codes have not put into the consideration of weather and current fashion trends. There
are some schools that have extreme heat that almost forces the students to disobey
the school s dress code policies. At Baldwin High School there are very limited air
conditioned buildings which create heat in the learning environment. Despite that the
heat is too extreme for students that they have to wear shorter length clothing and
breathable attire to condemn the fact there is no way to cool down besides clothes
that don t adhere to the dress code. Students are usually taught to practice their right
to freedom of expression, the first Amendment. Dress code prohibits that ability and
discourages students. Most students interact with the daily fashion trends in the
world and want to choose to follow those trends. To some students dressing up in
their clothes is their only way to express their selves. Creating this suppression
against their artistic ability discourages these students from feeling comfortable in
their own school, is it not that school is supposed to be where students feel safe and
comfortable at? School administration claims that the dress code is imposed to create
a less distracted environment and to prepare students for their future careers. The
attire student wear are not the only distractions in the classroom, students are
distracted by their cellular devices and life issues. Yet, cell phones cause a greater

Today s younger generations tend to think of Charles Xavier and Jean Grey when
the phrase mind over matter is involved. Charles and Jean are two very power
mutants with extraordinary mind powers allowing them to read minds and
levitate objects. While some instances of mind over matter might be like that
others tend to be much simpler than that. The idea of telekinesis came to be around
the late 1800s, when the ability to move objects became more involved with
sciences. The idea was already out by that time due to all the psychic mediums
who were able to communicate with ghosts, asking them to move the objects with
their powers (Radford Benjamin). Wolfgang Messing was one of Russia s most
famous psychics of his time told his story of how his powers ended up saving his

developmental psychologist who studied young children and analyzed their
development at a young age. Piaget is well known for his four cognitive
development stages: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete, and formal operations;
as mentioned by Siegler and Alibali (2004). Siegler and Alibali (2004) also stated
that these four stages begin as soon as the child is born and it continues throughout
their young adolescent years all the way to adulthood. Piaget conducted numerous

During this stage, children may develop mental representations but lack ability to
think logically and understand reversibility. Siegler and Alibali (2004) explained
that between the ages of 6 to 12 years old, a child has the ability to learn perception
and take information from multiple sources and piece them together. This type of
development is also critical in the cognitive stages of a child, because it develops
awareness and it allows them to experience world real recognition. This is the third
stage of cognitive development, also known as the operational stage. The
conservation of liquid task will be apparent in distinguishing a child who is either
in the pre operational stage or operational stage due to their abilities mentioned
previously. I do not agree with Piaget s conclusion about limiting this experiment to
older school aged children because through early education and awareness, any
children can pass this experiment. Since Piaget was the only one that transferred the
water from one cup into the taller one, the children probably thought it was some
kind of magic trick. For this modification, I allowed my little cousin, Waverly, to
pour the water into the cup to show that I did not do anything to tinker with the
water, and everything she saw is literally in front of her eyes.

And...
The legal principle on company law established by the case Salomon v Salomon
Co Ltd is that a company upon incorporation is a body corporate which is
recognized by law to have a separate legal entity from its members and officers. The
company and members are two separate bodies. This is known as the veil of
incorporation. Thus, the debts of the company cannot be recovered from its
members. For example, the debts of the company cannot be recovered from its
member. Rather than the director or its member, a company is normally liable for
any breach by itself. A company is an artificial legal personthat exists independently
of the individuals who at any given time are the members of the corporate body. In
the case of Salomon V Salomon Co Ltd, even though Salomon managed the business
solely by himself, yet in law Salomon and the company is separate body as the
company has incorporated.

What is polluter pays principle?
The polluter pays principle is one of the basic principles of sustainable development.
The polluter pays principle(PPP) means that there is an absolute liability for harm to
the environment and the person who is responsible for the environment pollution is
liable to pay compensation to the victims of the pollution and also the cost of restoring
the environment degradation.
Thus the polluter pays principle includes environmental costs and cost to the people

26. The Chivalric Code
Out of both ancient and modern Japanese culture today, one of the most famous and
far reaching ethos is of the samurai warrior. According to popular culture around the
world, the image of the samurai warrior has increasingly been of the katana wielding,
unyielding ninja who not only fights for his liege, but also fights with unyielding
strength, never once giving in or showing weakness or cowardice to his enemies.
These characteristics are rooted in the bushidocode. Mostly unwritten, the bushido
code emphasized honor and loyalty to one s leader and clan, unyielding strength
and bravery in the face of one s enemies, and deference and respect to one s
neighbor and clan members, especially his superiors. However, the bushido code
was not the only one of its day to emphasize and inculcate these values into their
followers. The Chivalric Code, followed by knights and crusaders during the
medieval ages, emphasizes similar values, and were born out of the necessity for
these states to sustain themselves in a warlike era. Although the term bushido would
not be invented until the sixteenth century, evidence for the early Japanese
appreciation of the sword can be found in early Japanese novels such as the Kojiki.

28. Rene Descartes And Blaise Pascal
Rene Descartes and Blaise Pascal were philosophers with a common goal bringing
others to the truth of the existence of God. They both had a desire to help others
scale the heights of religion, using the path of reason, and bring them to the other
side with a firm perception and knowledge of the reality of, not just a god, but the
one, true God. Though their goal and method was similar, that of using doubt as a
vehicle to traverse the oppositional arguments of unbelievers, they arrive at different
ends of logical belief. In this essay I will seek to analyze each philosopher s method
and conclusion and determine its implications for the concept of Idealism.
The philosophy of Idealism is a system of thought that, in a nut shell, claims that
knowledge and reason are dependent upon the mind. This idea is in contradiction to
Descartes and Pascal s belief in dualism. The concept of dualism sets a distinction
between mind and body, whereas idealism believes they are one and the same, that
thought is a direct consequence of the mind/body system.
In his book, Meditations, Rene Descartes covers this idea beginning with doubt and
stripping away all elements of the physical world. He begins by stripping the doubter,
himself, of all possible influences. Eliminating prompts and effects, Descartes begins
to understand this doubt that he has based upon the realities he is still left with that

30. Three Main Reasons For The Fall Of The Roman Empire
The Roman Empire was a vast territory that expanded to three different
continents. They were a place of honor, tradition, and respect. Rome has had several
different periods, some of peace, and some of violence or unrest, but those were
solved quickly and effectively. However, such a magnificent empire could not hold
up under the strains that were slowly causing it to collapse. Rome began to face
many problems that together allowed the fall of the Roman Empire. The three main
problems that caused Rome to fall were invasions by barbarians, an unstable
government, and pure laziness and negligence. Though Rome was a great empire that
conquered countless territories, it was not immune to the numerous attacks from
barbarians such as the Huns, the Visigoths, the Vandals, and others. The barbarians
would raid and sack the capital and other cities in ancient Rome, leaving them
without money or tradable items. The Vandals did so much damage to the cities that
their name is associated with the crime of extensive damage to property. The Huns
were another destructive group of barbarians that were led by Attila. They raided
Rome in 451 AD, leaving an immense trail of destruction. Other barbarians attacked
Rome at different times, each leaving Rome weaker and helpless. Each attack
destroyed their economy and left them desperate for a solution. The Ostrogoths
finally caused the Western Empire to fall when Odoacer chased Romulus Augustus,
the last of the Roman emperors, off the

piece is Schelomo, Hebraic Rhapsody, by Ernest Bloch, and the third piece is
SymphonyNo.9 in E minor, op.95, From the New World by Antonin Dvorak. All
three of these pieces originated in the early 19th century. To begin with, Dances with
Cakewalk by Hershy Kay is an orchestrated Broadway style repertoire, with integrated
creole melodies and a minstrel song using Gottschalks musicarranged originally for
the New York City ballet. There are three different dances to this piece. The first
dance Grand Walkaround opens with loud dynamics from the kettledrum, and
woodwind instruments creating a grand entrance leading into a piano solo. The rondo
theme of this dance is played by different sections. The tempo is lively as the
dynamics increase while the whole symphony plays the theme, in addition, the

expressed that he had been considering a novel about a flier facing the end of his

for the novelcame from two friends of his that had been wounded in the war. Heller
reported that one of them told some funny stories about war experiences, while the
other friend could not see how any humor could be associated with the horror of
war, (Daugherty 2011). In his novel he decided to look at the war and the characters...

Literary scholar Robert Brustein states that the novel is one of the most bitterly
funny works in the language, (Brustein 2009). The main catch and reason for the
title is the unwritten law that keeps Yossarian from leaving the military. It states
that one must be insane to continue flying missions and to be sent home; however,
as soon as one claims insanity and requests to go home they are proven sane and
must stay. Yossarian also remains trapped due to another one of these so called
catch 22s. His squadron has been forced to fly more than double the missions
required for one tour solely because his colonel, Colonel Cathcart, wishes to be in
the Saturday Evening Post. Because of this Cathcart signs his men up for the most
dangerous missions and continually raises the number of missions needed to be
released when someone becomes close (Brustein 2009). Many more examples can be
found in the novel as well. These situations make one laugh due to their sheer
stupidity and lack of logic, while also showing the unreasonable power the officers in
the military have and the ludicrous things they do with that
34. The Power of T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land Essay
The Power of T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land
T. S. Eliot, perhaps one of the most controversial poets of modern
times, wrote what many critics consider the most controversial poem of all,
The Waste Land. The Waste Land was written using a fragmented style. This
is a style that is evident in all of Eliot s writings. There are several
reasons for his using this approach, from a feeling of being isolated, to a
problem articulating thoughts (Bergonzi 18, Cuddy 13, Mack 1745, Martin
102).
What influenced Eliot the most in writing poetry was a book he read
written by the English critic, Arthur Symon, titled The Symbolist Movement
in Literature. This book is about French symbolist ... Show more content on

When Eliot began to compose The WasteLand, he used all the
different themes, techniques, and style s he had been developing to this
point. The Waste Land is developed entirely using fragments and quotations.
This is symbolic of his despair in succeeding in ever fully articulating
meaning. Although it is fragmented, it also reveals moments of continuity
and wholeness quantified with recurrent themes of time, alienation,
isolation, and articulation. Because Eliot used fragmentation as his style
when writing this poem, it survived being cut in half by the editing of
Ezra Pound. Many author s argue that Ezra Pound could have edited many
more parts out, without effecting the meaning Eliot was trying to convey
(Bergonzi 11, Mack 1743, Martin 20 22, 110, Ricks 9, Unger 18).
35. T. S. Eliot s use of estrangement in poems is his way of expressing
feelings between himself and the world. His inability to give himself to,
or to possess others is an example of the greater problem of isolation.
The isolation theme is prevalent throughout the Waste Land, with many of
his characters entwined. This is probably related to his problem of
articulating. Whatever his reason for using isolation it caused him to
turn towards god for answers. In 1927 he was accepted as a member of the
Church of England.

What is the best way to respond to conflict? Is utilizing violence really the way to

persistent disagreements, but their stories of courage still arouse millions today. One
case of a motivation is Anne Frank s story, Anne Frank: The Diaryof a Young Girl,
which depicts a firsthand account of her and her Jewish family s life both some time
before and after being forced into hiding. Another story that inspires millions, is Dear
Miss Breed, by Joanne Oppenheim. This book is compiled with real life letters from
children in the Japanese internment camps, such as Poston Relocation Center. Finally,
the speech Blood,Toil, Tears, and Sweat, given by Winston Churchill, Prime Minister,
proposes his positivity in winning the war against Germany. As proven by the
sources, the best way to respond to conflict is through having a positive viewpoint on
the situation. One approach to respond to conflict is shown in the thoughts and
actions of Anne Frank. In the story, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl
, Anne s
solution to make the better of her situation was demonstrated. For instance, her
diary entry, dated Saturday, July 11, 1942, describing her living space at the Secret

LGBT Rights
Marriage between lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders (LGBT) is referred
to as same sex marriage. It occurs when men and women are attracted to someone
of the same gender of themselves. However, some people denied the idea of it since
they believe it is going against the law of nature and violating certain beliefs and
traditions. LGBT people have faced injustice and discrimination and have been
fighting for their rights for decades to overcome prejudice against them which they
have finally received in 2015.
LGBT individuals has remained largely silent and unseen in American culture until
World War II ended. Many of them hid their unusual sexual orientation from the
society out of shame and fear. Gays who lived in cities often formed close social
networks with other gays while remaining a hidden subculture. During the 1940s
and 1950s, LGBT Americans earned many freedoms they had not previously
received. Their presence became more free flowing but still not widely accepted. In
the middle of 1950s, discrimination against LGBT individuals started to expand,
they have been kicked out of their jobs because of their sexual orientation.
Moreover, the homosexual lifestyle was considered as a threat to American security
in the 1960s as gay and lesbian were being harassed or raided at that time. However,
it was the turning point for the LGBT community in 1969 when the Stonewall riots

As the Democratic platform changed, the Republican party became very conservative
and defended state s rights due to its opposition to what was called big government
(Rise of Rep. Party, p. 567). On the issue of race, the Republican party fully
supported that the white race was superior and the state had its own right to remain
segregated. A key politician that represents this change was the former Senator
Jesse Helms. Religion was the driving force of his political views and he was very
vocal about his opinions. His campaign developed the concept of the New Right
which refers to the Christian church stepping into the realm of politics (Jesse Helms
Doc). In the 1970s and the 1980s, many organizations became available, such as the
Christian Coalition and Moral Majority, to support the church having political
influence. Since the church became a part of political campaigns, politicians became
more reserved in their discrimination in a perception known as Southern Strategy.
This popular technique was used mainly by the Republican party that was extremely
traditional known as the Tea Party or far right . The first politician to introduce the
idea was President Nixon in 1960, through his speeches to the people. The Southern
Strategy technique is used when the speaker uses choices of words to convey a

and when ever I did read it, nine out of ten times it would be right, and that s why I
loved reading my horoscope. It was just something I did every morning, and then I
would go throughout my day. Then at night when I would be back on the computer, i
would reread them, and realize that most of the time those things did happen, or I did

associated taxiways. There are 2 runways on the North side of the airfield (The
terminal area represents the middle of the airfield) and 3 runways on the south side
of the airfield. The advantage of having these parallel runways is that during the
operation there is no need to be concerned with aircraft crossing paths
