2. The Last Lecture Randy Pausch Analysis
The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch is a compilation of stories and advice from Pausch. He
includes excerpts from the lecture itself; as well as other experiences that contribute to the
theme of the book. The book focuses on the achievement of dreams. Pausch expresses the
importance of living every day to its fullest potential. He states that It s not about how you
achieve your dreams. Its about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, karma will
take care of itself. The dreams will come to you (Page 205/206) . A section of the book focuses
on the possibilities that arise when an individual simply asks for something. Pausch gives two
examples of this in the book. He discusses a trip to Disney in which he asked the monorail
operator if it would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He employs tactics such as asking for something one desires, overcoming obstacles, and being
self aware. Having the mind to simply ask for something that I desire may be a crucial trait to
have. Additionally, obstacles have been and will continue to be present throughout my life.
Whether in academics, sports, or my personal life, challenges will always arise. One of the most
important pieces of advice that he gives, I believe, is to worry less about what others are
thinking. As a young adult, this is often hard to do. However, there are many benefits to taking
the advice of Pausch. His advice will likely lead to being a more confident, successful person. The
changes, large or small, that can be made will affect every day of my life. Struggling with
depression has allowed me to have a great understanding of the importance of overcoming obstacles.
Similarly, dealing with severe anxiety has allowed me to understand the importance of asking for
something even if it may seem difficult. Making every day count, through the aforementioned
methods, can certainly change the path that my life may

Literature Review
Introduction
The purpose of this literary review is to achieve insight into lean manufacture and how it can be
applied within a manufacturing environment. With global contention, it is important for maker to
remain competitive in their respective marketplace and to understand the principles of lean
manufacturing and the step to implement them to ensure that they are on the leading edge of
manufacturing. This literary review describes the below mention principles.
Birth place of lean and Origins of mass production
Fred Winslow Taylor, a foundry manager from Philadelphia, lay the foundation for mass yield
(Dennis, 2002). He was the first to systematically apply scientific principles to manufacturing. His
many innovations involved: Standardized work classifying the finest and easiest way to do the
business; Reduced cycle meter the time it takes for a given process; Time and question study a
peter for developing standardized work; Measure and analysis to continually improve the process.
The Francis Scott Key to mass production was not the assembly credit line (Dennis, 2002). Rather,
it was the thorough interchangeability of region and ease of assembly. These innovations, in bout,
make the assembly line possible.
Henry Fords conveyor system at the Ford plant, allowed for mass production (Tapping,2007). The
moving assembly line brought the car past the stationary worker. (Dennis, 2002) The assembly line

Net Neutrality and Market Regulation
With a unanimous 3 0 vote on January 14, 2014, the US Circuit Court of Appeals for the
District of Columbia circuit court gutted key pieces of the Federal Communication
Commission s (FCC) 2010 order to broadband service providers, or, net neutrality rules .
Simply put, net neutrality is the principle that broadband providers should treat all Internet content
and applications equally (Lyons). Based on telecommunications law, the FCC s 2010 order had
created a set of three primary rules for net neutrality to govern how broadband companies were to
operate. The first, called the Transparency Rule required companies to

Both Wu and Lyons approach the net neutrality debate from a legal angle these angles are, of
course, different and lead to drastically different trajectories.
Whereas Wu approaches it with a concern for fairness to the consumer and the small market ,
Lyons examines the apparent lack of fairness towards the providers. It goes without saying that the
repercussions of this angle for Lyons distance his argument from many audience.
Furthermore, both use history Wu, in terms of cyclical trends throughout history and new
technologies, and Lyons through a comprehensive analysis of the past and current applications of
unreasonable discrimination as laid out through В§202. Ultimately, Lyons opines, that
broadband providers should be permitted the same flexibility [as telephone companies] and
invoking the traditional language of common carriage while redefining the duties that language

but yet both still legitimate, conclusions. While Wu may be a proponent of Title II as a 5,

5. Jealousy In Shakespeare And William Shakespeare s Othello
Jealousy can cause many things to occur. For example, manipulation, betrayal, and death.
Manipulation, to get them to do things that they know is not good for them for instance, drugs or
alcohol. Betrayal, is getting jealous of their accomplishments. Also death, for being so jealous of a
friend who has accomplished so much that killing is the best solution to get rid of them. In the
movie O a modern version of Othello by William Shakespeareand Julius Caesaralso written by
William Shakespeare, Odin and Caesar were manipulated for being the best at what they do.
Jealousy could really get anyone killed. Odin is a star basketball player at Columbine High
School, he was well known and had great accomplishments, when someone is doing well then
others tend to get competitive and jealous. Odin is very brilliant and has a bright future ahead of
him. I mean who would not be jealous? Odin was manipulated by his friends because of how big
of a star he was. Jealousy will lead to betraying, his friends were trying to make him do stuff that
he know he would get in trouble for. As Odin said before he shot himself to death He twisted my

6. Confucianism And Legalism
The law in which the Qin constructed was harsh and unjust. They abolished the Zhou ist feudal
system, replacing it with controlled local administration. The term in which this practice is called is
Legalism; the belief in which people are born with evil tendencies. The government demanded total
subordination of the people to the ruler. Although there is no commonly recognized founder, there
is one person who is credited for the establishment of Legalism: Shang Yang, an important statesman
during the Warring States Period for the Qin. The policies and measures initiated by Shang Yang

This system was to keep everyone in their place and avoid rebellions and uprisings. There were
reports of subordination put into place once every three months, summaries every six, and
permanent records every twelve. There was a doctrine fixed into law, called the Six Parasites. This
is however a textual problem, there are actually sixteen. These parasites were rites, music, odes,
history, cultivation, goodness, filial devotion, brotherly love, sincerity, trustworthiness, uprightness,
integrity, humaneness, rightness, criticism of army, and lastly being ashamed of fighting. To
violate any of these laws against the six was subject to punishment. Death to any criminals and
any officials who allowed crimes, their punishments were carried out to their families and three
generations after. When punishments are imposed, they shall not be applied to the guilty party
alone. Punishments were severe. Small crimes were punished severly to make sure the
punishment was understood and not repeated, especially if it were a larger crime. When Shang
Yang wrote, ...if they let their ambition go too far, they will become too strong... it is interpreted
that knowledge and aspiration for a better life can be power and lead to rebellion against the
government. More consequential victims were the critical thinking of Legalists and the spirit of
ruling by law, blamed for Qin s demise and condemned for two millennia by Confucians advocating

largest sources of income. As a lucrative business already established in the US and attempting to

Abstract
My paper is about the GAAP (General Acceptance of Accounting Principles) which were created
by the Accounting Principles Board (APB). The board was created by American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in 1959. APB issued 31 Opinions from 1959 to 1973 and
those Opinions created GAAP. I think GAAP is interesting due to how many companies think
they can get away with financial dealings but get caught. I also think that GAAP is a system that

standards distort the true economic reality, produce unreliable corporate standards and serve as an

GAAPS are not natural laws of physics or other sciences but instead are identified in response to the
needs of users and others affected by accounting. They are man made rules that depend for their
authority upon their general acceptance by the accounting profession. (Pyle Larson,1981).
GAAP include both broad and specific principles. The broad principles describe the basic
assumptions and general guidelines that accountants follow in preparing financial statements. The
specific principles provide more detailed rules that accountants follow in reporting results of
various business activities. The broad principles stem from observing long used accounting

My great leader is the late president Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt was an American
statesman and a political leader in the 1900 s. He served as America s 32nd President of the
United States from 1933 to 1945. Roosevelt is widely considered one of the best presidents the
U.S. has ever had, for a wide array of reasons. First, Roosevelt was bafflingly charismatic. With
the combination of the fact that he was handsome, as well as a great orator, he was able to
capture the attention of many American people. Within a week of entering office, he delivered his
first fireside chat, which has been hailed as a stellar performance by FDR. Charisma is an

important when working in big government, because having this quality will help to steer you in
the right direction for the masses of people you would be making decisions for. If one lacks
moral character, they are more likely to make self serving decisions based on the idea of a
payout rather than on the idea of a positive change for their citizens. Another quality that is
important, and also demonstrated by FDR is self confidence. This is important because if you
don t have courage and confidence in your decisions, how can you expect anyone else to be
confident in your decisions. In order to inspire others and make them trust you, you first have to
show them that you know what you are doing and you are comfortable and sure in your choices
and changes. By demonstrating self confidence, the public will be more likely to consider and
agree with what you are trying to do, because it is easier to believe in people who believe in

Oedipus was told that the only way to rid Thebes of the curse was to find the man who murdered

Oedipus tragic flaw, or his mistake, is not really something he did, or did not do, but rather
something he did not know. Oedipus tragic flaw was simply the fact that he did not know his
true identity. This becomes known when the messenger from Corinth tells Oedipus that Polybus
is not his real father (3.1020 1028). Furthermore, Aristotle believed that in tragic plays, the
protagonist must be just like ourselves (Roberts and Zweig 1031) so that the audience could
have a close connection to the protagonist. In doing so, it makes that audience feel pity and sorry
for the tragic hero which is exactly what happens in to Oedipus. Although Oedipus suffered a
tragic flaw, it was not his fault. It was not his fault that he did not know who his real parents
were since he was only a baby when he was given away to Polybus who never told Oedipus the
truth. The audience feels sorry for Oedipus since there was nothing he could do to avoid his

We found that the muscle strength of trunk flexion showed significant differences within group and
between groups. The results of the trunk back extension showed significant differences within
group. Our result of increased trunk strength was similar to previous study results. Within group
difference of muscleactivation was higher in the BLSE group than in the HLSE group. This
implies that the EO and RA were activated as the agonist of trunk flexion, and that muscle
hypertrophy can increase strength of trunk flexion when activated by the EO and RA. One
study showed EO activated approximately 32% of MVIC by bracing and 12% of MVIC by
hollowing (Grenier McGill, 2007). The % EMG max values in RA was 18% in the bracing
strategy, while the RA value was approximately 6% in the hollowing strategy(Maeo et al., 2013).
Thus, we suggest that trunk flexion strength would be increased by muscle hypertrophy if the
bracing strategy is applied in side plank exercise and prone plank exercises, which activate EO and
RA, for 12 weeks.

technological advances and methods being used by computer hackers. The nation s electricity

22. Elements Of Comedy In Merchant Of Venice
The genre of William Shakespeare s most performed play has been debated for a long time: is it
a comedy or a tragedy? The play has elements of both genres, but one is clearly prevalent. While
the story hits upon the tragic element of despair, The Merchant of Venice by William
Shakespeare, is a comedy because lovers are separated, characters are in disguise, and the story has
a happy ending.
From the very beginning of The Merchant of Venice, we see the comedic element of lovers being
separated time and time again. First, Jessica and Lorenzo are not permitted to marry or see each
other because of their different religions and her father s fervent hatred for Christians. Lorenzo
certain, and my love indeed / For who love I so much? (2.vi.30 31). Jessica and Lorenzo and
certain they are in love, despite the distance that separates them. Later, in Act 3, Bassanio must
leave Portia to return to Venice where Antonio is waiting to see him one last time. And then away
to Venice to your friend! / For never shall you lie by Portia s side / With an unquiet soul (3.ii.317
19). This separation between Bassanio and Portia allows the audience to connect with the irony of
these young lovers struggle. These separations between lovers lead to another element of comedy
costumes.
Of the three women in this play, each dresses as a man once, furthering the comedic air with
clever disguises. Jessica starts off the chain of costumes by dressing up as a torchbearer to flee
from her father s house. Cupid himself would blush / To see me thus transformed to a boy
(2.vi.39 40). Jessica s readiness to run away from her father triumphed over her embarrassment
about dressing as a man. In the same way, Portia and Nerissa don the clothes of lawyers to save
their husbands friend. There you shall find that Portia was the doctor / Nerissa there, her clerk
(5.i.298 9). This lie s hilarity is furthered when Balthazar is praised for being smarter than most
men. But the comedic elements don t stop there.
Accordingly, almost every character receives happy news at the end of the play, which doesn t
happen in tragedies. Antonio learns that his despair was all for naught when Portia hands over a
letter. Sweet lady, you have given me life and

The positive side of advertising is that it makes you aware that a product or service is available.
New and improved products are developed all the time and we can t be expected to keep track of

Our new and improved product is now even better! Go out and buy it!
Advertising can also be used to generate awareness among public that which product they use
and to which product they can say no. It can also be used to educate people about certain diseases
or danger. Even the backward people are now aware of many diseases and their problems. And all
these credits goes to proper advertising. Diseases like Polio could never been controlled if the
timings for polio drops aren t advertised regularly.
Advertising can also be used to inform public about social events like concerts and concerts.
Charity can use media to advertise about the diseases and encourage people for aids. Social

24. Mrs. Wishart s Presentation Of Female Characters In Jasper...
1)Gender Issues In Jasper Jones, male characters are portrayed as the controlling species. An
example of this would be the Shire President, Pete Wishart. He controlled and bullied his wife.
He even abused his own daughter. The female characters are portrayed as less dominant and
emotionally unstable. When Laura told Mrs. Wishart, her mother, that her father was abusing her,
Mrs. Wishart called her a liar and defended him. This makes it seem like women did not have any
natural affection for their children. In society, females were less dominant. They usually stayed at
home to cook, clean, and take care of the children. The men, however, were the money makers.
They worked while the women stayed home. This gave men power over the women because... Show

At first he was a young, smart thirteen boy, who took his privileges for granted. When he saw
Laura s body, he had to quickly mature and rise to the occasion to help Jasper. This helped
Charlie to see the evil in the world and complicated his view of right and wrong. Seeing Jasper s
difficult life and everything he had to go through made Charlie think about himself and all the
privileges he has. From the start of the novel, Charlie s maturity and intelligence deepens. This
causes Charlie to willingly help Jasper find out who killed Laura. Another important character is
Jasper Jones. From an early age, Jasper has had to raise himself. His mother died in a car
accident and his father is always drunk and incapable of taking care of him. Jasper s maturity
helps him to be level headed in situations that would get a reaction from others. For example,
when Jasper saw Laura hanging from the tree and choking, he tried to save her. Then, he ran and
got Charlie to help him. Some people in a similar situation would have panicked, but due to Jasper
s maturity, his reactions are mostly sensible. A change does occur when Jasper finds out that Jack
Lionel is his grandfather. In the beginning, Jasper allowed Corrigan s lies and rumors to taint his
view of the situation, and he immediately was set on proving Lionel guilty. This changes when he
finds out the truth about Laura s death and his relationship with Jack Lionel. These two important

where the fire truck is heading. Guy Montag stayed mostly the same, with a few minor
differences. The general idea that Firemen set fires to books stayed the same too. Some
noticeable differences are the changes that occurred to Clarisse. The major character differences

27. Female Love In Araby And John Updike s A P
The character in any story is one of the most important elements, as the conflict and plot progress
because of the characters. It is normally their appearances, mannerisms, and ideologies that the
reader is using to understand the context and dynamics of the story. James Joyce s Araby and John
Updike s A P present stories about an adolescent boyhaving a sexual attractiontowards a female.
The female love interests are presented through a spiritual light and given this holy image from
the protagonists. Due to the boy s ages being toward the younger side, their exposure to sexual
love is quite limited, so when they first experience this type of love, it is so unfamiliar that they
prioritize and idolize it, giving the impression of the girls being these holy beings that they worship
in a spiritual way. In James Joyces Araby the narrator has a tortured on his neighbour, Mangan s
sister. The young boy frequently watches her from his window, occasionally walks by her, and
does not exchange many words when he passes by. One evening the narrator has a conversation
with Mangan s sister about the bazaar Araby, and how she cannot traverse there due to prior
commitments. The narrator is sexually attracted to her as seen by his description of her
appearance. He states, The light from the lamp opposite our door caught the white curve of her
neck, lit up her hair that rested there and. Falling, lit up the hand upon the railing. It fell over one

28. Sir Gawain Archetype
The common archetype of the knight is seen as Christian and chivalric, yet by the end of the text,
Gawain is neither. The narrative begins by portraying Gawain as the epitome of medieval
chivalric values, being respectful towards Arthur and Gweniviere. However, by the end of the
text, we quickly realise his morals are not so clear cut, as he lies and steals from his host. In fact, it
is suggested that Gawainis neither Christian nor chivalric, characteristics tested within the Green
chapel.
Christianity held a central position within Medieval society, its importance being highlighted with
the Green Chapel. This location tests Gawain s morals and ultimately brings to light his cowardice
and misogynistic attitude after he is forced to realise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before finding the castle, he prays to Mary that ho him rede to ride And whose him to sum wone
primarily because he wishes for somewhere to go to church and partake in mass. Mary is a
repeated figure within the poem, appearing on the inside of his shield so he can glance at her
when he requires guidance and strength. Yet, in later parts of the tale, this appears ironic, as
Mary is associated with loyalty and virginity. Gawain was hardly loyal to the promise he made
with his host, refusing to give away the girdle breaking the essential chivalric laws. Furthermore,
as we learn that Gawain is experienced in lufttalking it becomes apparent that he may not be as
sexually pure as we are lead to believe. This provides another aspect on Gawain, as the fashionable
wealthy man of promiscuous pursuits. These hidden values of his directly contradict both Christian
values of purity and chivalric values of respect, illustrating him as the unknightly knight. However,
his status of a knight could be solely due to his own birth, as he is King Arthur s nephew. Therefore,
we can assume that he did not suffer through any trials or perform any great deed in order to
assert his status as a knight. This could potentially be the reason as to why his morals are less than
perfect, and it could also be possible that this trial is his

This impossibity arouse from the North and the South adpoting impervious opinions about politics

Protectionism in global banana market Good or bad?
The present crisis being faced by the company seems to be a result of protectionism in the global
banana market. Ideally there should be no restriction for free flow of goods and services but this
is not true. There is hardly any field where restrictions are not present in trade as the nation/region
imposing those restrictions wants to protect local economies from tough international
competition. Banana industry is no exception to this general rule. The world is still in a
transition phase as regards real integration of the world trade into an ideal single market.
Undoubtedly the protectionism has played a spoil sport for big players in banana market but at
the same time provided much needed support to developing nations especially ACP region that
formed former colonies of Britain and France. The trade barriers proved successful for the less
efficient producers as they got protection against bigger players. Such a strategy can provide control
to smaller entities in growing bigger and providing tough competition in the market.
Despite the protectionist policies of European region as regards banana trade the US companies
and those from other parts of the world have made good money out of it. The trade has been quite
profitable through all these years and has rather stopped this industry from becoming a home
ground for one or two big players only. The fact that this business needs a

31. Decameron Day 1 Essay
Through the contrasting storylines of Day 1 Story 1, and Day 4 Story 2 in The Decameron,
Boccaccio displays the superiority of common folk to people of religious authority, depicting the
triumph of reason over religion. The main characters of Day 1 Story 1 and Day 4 Story 2,
Ciapelletto and Berto della Massa, respectively, bear a strikingly similar resemblance until they
are confronted about words which they have spoken, at which point the storylines diverge.
While Ciapelletto is able to successfully fool a friar, Betro della Massa is unable to fool ordinary
citizens. By having two seemingly similar stories end so differently, Boccaccio demonstrates his
view that natural reason is more valuable than religious authority. Ciapelletto of Day 1 and Berto
della Massa of Day 4 both lead sinful lives; Ciapelletto of Prato is known for willingness to commit
murder, speak out against God, falsify... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the differing outcomes of 1.1 and 4.2, Boccaccio plants the subtle hint that friars are not
any better than the common man, and that the power of reason can be infinitely more powerful
than having a tie to God. While the villagers are able to detect and acknowledge the lies that
Alberto has told, the Friar does not even question any of the overwhelmingly false information
supplied by Ciapelletto. Such a contrast depicts the idea that having religious authority and no
ability to think for oneself is no better than being an ordinary person. In the end, it is not the
profession of an individual that determines his ability to think, but rather it is his own willingness
to question what he has heard or seen. If a man cannot think for himself or challenge what he is
presented with, then those around him can easily fool

32. Mao Zedong Of The World Essay
Though Mao Zedong would argue the people wield the power to change history, they do not.
Perhaps they should, but that concerns epistemological questions. And while elements of Mao s
perspective that the people comprise the motive force in the making of world history wafted around
in compelling the U.S. to intervene in Iraqin 2003, it is not a sufficient explanation. The people did
not form the chief reason for the Iraqi campaign, and certainly did not originate the intervention
alone , as Mao s philosophy would suggest. Alternatively, Scottish philosopher Thomas Carlyle
contends, The history of the world is but the biography of great men. He rightly locates the locus
of watershed moments in history: great men. At the very least, a few powerful men ultimately
control the people s destiny both near to and far from home. In reality, a small, elite group of
individuals set the agenda for world order. As evidenced by the 2003 Iraq War
, a tight circle of
plutocrats the president, his advisors, and those with skin in the financial game can steer the course
for two entire nations for a decade.
The Bush Doctrine vastly expanded what the United States deems a vital interest dragging
preГ«mptive action, unilateralism, and anti terrorism under its umbrella. Democratizing nations
plays a critical role in the strategy as well. A spirit of liberalism flows through the Doctrine, as it
attempts to depose tyrannical dictators to ease relations between nations and foster democracy. It

narrator is the one to notice that yet again, the wall has been destroyed. He is the one who tells
the neighbor about the wall, I let my neighbor know beyond the hill; And on a day we meet to
walk the line And set the wall between us once again. (Lines 12 14).The narrator is very diligent
about the wall, constantly repairing it. This, however, does not particularly tie into his emotions.
He questions the neighbor about the building, and knows that the constant building of the wall is
useless and unnecessary. The narrator is conscious of the fact that a wall between them is a barrier.
He does not see the point of having one. While he questions the neighbor about their actions, he is
actually the one who seeks out the neighbor to repair the wall, although he is against it. The
narrator is unconsciously wanting to keep the wall between them. He is just as territorial as the
neighbor. Tradition is what keeps these two characters interacting with each other. However, the
narrator seems is more willing to break away from tradition. He questions their tradition. As
generations pass, it becomes hard to keep up with traditions because newer generations often think
they are outdated. The narrator feels a duty to keep mending the wall, but he questions the tradition

Prometheus, in Greek mythology and literature, is known widely and most obviously for his many
enthralling elements. Though there is a wide array of dissimilar stories told of Prometheus, the
most dominant and popular one is told by Hesiod in his Theogony. From Hesiod s account,
Prometheus was the great Titan who defied the Greek gods and stole fire from Hephaestus for the
use and helping of mankind. This act facilitated the progression for civilization. Ultimately, there

ritual of sacrifice and the origin of fire Promethean fire, the symbol of defiant progress.
Prometheus archetype was known specifically of the culture god and hero, eventually, he
became the archetype of the divine or heroic trickster. Apart from Prometheus sentencing of
eternal torment, Zeus devised a way for humans to endure sorrowful troubles. Recompensing for
the fire stolen back, he told all men I shall give them an evil in which all may take delight in their
hearts as they embrace it. This evil was specifically named Pandora. With that, Zeus ordered
renowned Hephaestus as quickly as possible to mix earth with water and to implant in it a
human voice and strength and to fashion the beautiful and desirable form of a maiden, with a
face like that of an immortal goddess. But he ordered Athena to teach her the skills of weaving at
the artful loom, and golden Aphrodite to shed grace, about her head and painful longing and
sorrows that permeate the body. And he commanded the guide Hermes, slayer of Argus to put in
her the mind of a bitch and the character of a thief. Ultimately, we still question why women were

lifeguarding save lives but it also helps financially by providing jobs for thousands around the
country. Thanks to Red Cross, paramedics across the country are saving lives and also making a

40. History, Beliefs, And Culture Of The Judaism Ways
Good luck or Mazel Tov as the Jewish people say. Judaism has been said to be a religion, race,
culture, and a nation, and even an extended family. Judaism means living the faith. It is the original
of the three Abrahamic faiths, with Christianity and Islam. Although it is commonly known that
those who practice or believe in Judaismare Jews, a Jew is actually someone who is born from a
Jewish mother, and in some cases, a Jewish father,. It is a monotheistic religion that focuses on the
relationships between the creator (God), mankind, and the land of Israel. Judaism is a semi flexible
religion which dates back some years ago. In this informative essay I will explain the history,
beliefs, and culture of the Judaism ways.
Judaism originated over 4 thousand years ago in the middle east . It Was founded by Moses, but
the Jews trace their roots back to Abraham. They Judaism started off as a structured religion,
with leaders, like Saul, David, and Solomon, the ones who built the first great temple. It wasn t
until the age of the prophets, around 920 B.C and the Jewish people split into groups. Around
600 BCE the great Temple was destroyed and the leader of the Jews was murdered. During the
next 300 years ,the Jews strengthened, despite having a foreign ruler. In about 175 BCE the King
of Syria destroyed the new Temple and tried to wipe out Judaism . In 164 BCE there was a revolt
and the temple was restored .The celebration of the victory of the revolt is now the Jewish

41. The Holocaust and The Final Solution Essay
The Holocaust was not just bad; it was horrific in every way. The Final Solution was meant to
control people and scare people. Over eleven million people died in Europe. The United States
came in later than they should have, but they stopped the Axis Powers from gaining too much
control. However, my people, the Jewish people, would never forget the tragedy that doomed
millions of lives.
It was all started by a man named Adolf Hitler. Native to Austria, he fought for Germany in World
War One. After germany surrendered, Hitler was furious. He wanted Germany to rise to what his
vision of greatness was. After a failed attempt to overthrow the government, he got into politics. A

In Washington D.C, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was planning out attcaks on the Axis

nothing to do with World War Two. Japan took that as a threat and bombed Pearl Harbor on
December 7th, 1941. This caused the US to declare war on the Axis Powers The Axis Powers
were Italy, Germany, and Japan. It wasn t until after the war that the army understood what the

42. Is Equality for All a Realistic and Desirable Aim Within...
Equality exists in many contexts. It can exist in the political level; individuals have the same
rights under the law. It can exist in a social level, between categories of people, for example
gender, or race. It can even exist on an individual level, as to how each person is treated. Equality
cannot be confined to simply equal opportunities for all; for an equal and fair process is still
equality. An equal and fair result is also equality. At each of the different level, equality shifts from
being realistic or being desirable, sometimes both, or sometimes neither.
Modern societies often take for granted that social quality is desirable. Democratic values mean
people from all backgrounds should be given an equal say to affect decisions in ... Show more

Hence one could argue that a certain degree of equality has been reached.
The same case can be made for racial tolerance. In the 19th Century wherein America was rife with
racial discrimination against the Afro Americans, there was strong opposition to even a mere
suggestion of equality between В‘blacks and В‘whites . In modern American, one can hardly see
any signs of the touchy issue that tore the nation into two in the past. In both these cases,
education over a long period of time is a clear factor; people gradually accept change. From
known examples like Sri Lanka and Rwanda, where ethnic conflict is rampant, it is not realistic to
expect change through imposing equality onto people through state policies. However, what the
previous two examples have shown is that too a certain degree it is realistic to aim for equality,
given amply time to change the mindsets of the people. How long would have to depend on the
extent some mentalities are rooted in people.
But just how equal are those two examples. In a sense they too do not reflect equality properly.
For example, there is still a slight degree, not of discrimination, but of expectations accorded to
the genders. In some companies, they prefer men because women have to be allowed to take paid
maternity leave, or least they might choose to leave the company in order to take care of children,

People of the 21st century might question what the most pivotal events were during the American
Revolution. The Declaration of Independence, which was one of these events was mainly written
by Thomas Jefferson but edited by Benjamin Franklin and John Adams. The Declaration of
Independence was a celebration of the patriot s breakaway from the British. Another event
happened on Christmas day 1776, when George Washingtonand his troops crossed the Delaware
River with the hopes of capturing the Hessians who were a group that King George III paid to
fight or them. With luck on the troop s side, they captured between 900 and 1,000 prisoners and
took over Trenton, New Jersey. And finally, in Valley Forge, PA Washington s troops went through
harsh weather and long hours of training. By June 19th, 1778 the day they left, Washington s troops
were stronger than they were before with the help of General Baron Von Steuben. The most pivotal
events in determining the outcome of the American Revolutionwere Declaration of Independence
(June 1776), Washington s Crossing (December1776), and Valley Forge (1777 1778). The
Declaration of Independence was mainly written by Thomas Jefferson with the help of the
Continental Congress. Writing the declaration was one of Jefferson s most enduring moments in
his life. There were about 56 men who signed the Declaration all of different ages. The youngest

changes to the copy but leaving out the body of the woman made it mysterious and hard to

features you are looking for, you can decide on what best rowing machine to choose. Generally,
the price of a rower machine is lower than, or at least comparable to an elliptical trainer. There are

Due to its magnetic resistance, it operates almost silently. While it s virtually impossible to
change the resistance of most piston type rowers, the resistance of a magnetic type rower can
easily be changed. On the downside, it is more difficult to store mainly due to its longer main
rail which can t be folded. If you prefer an adjustable workout and have enough room for its
storage, this can be the best rowing machine to choose. Air Resistance The air resistance rower
has variable resistance which is determined by your pace. It increases its resistance naturally as
you row faster so it gives you more challenge. However, since this machine drives a fan, it is
noisy to operate which can be annoying. It is ideal for taller individuals due to its longer rail, but
this also means it is difficult to store discreetly. This can be the best rowing machine to choose if
you really want a machine that gives you a rowing experience similar to rowing on the water. Water
