Essay About Homework
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essay About Homework" may seem deceptively
straightforward at first glance. After all, homework is a ubiquitous aspect of academic life, and
opinions about it abound. However, delving into the intricacies of the topic reveals a myriad of
challenges that can make the writing process quite demanding.
Firstly, one must navigate the diverse perspectives on homework. Some argue that it enhances
learning and reinforces classroom teachings, while others contend that it contributes to stress and
hampers creativity. Striking a balance between these conflicting viewpoints requires a nuanced
approach, requiring the writer to critically analyze and synthesize information from various
sources.
Moreover, addressing the historical context and evolution of homework adds another layer of
complexity. The nature and purpose of homework have evolved over time, influenced by
educational philosophies and societal changes. Understanding these nuances is crucial to
providing a comprehensive overview and presenting a well-informed perspective.
Another challenge lies in addressing the psychological and emotional aspects associated with
homework. Exploring the impact of homework on students' mental health and motivation
requires sensitivity and a thorough examination of relevant studies. Balancing statistical evidence
with personal anecdotes and expert opinions is essential to construct a compelling argument.
Furthermore, the essay should incorporate the broader educational landscape, considering factors
such as cultural differences, technological advancements, and the changing nature of work. This
requires extensive research to stay current with the latest developments and trends in education.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay About Homework" demands a careful and
thoughtful approach. Navigating through conflicting viewpoints, understanding historical
contexts, delving into psychological aspects, and staying abreast of educational trends are just a
few of the challenges one must overcome. However, with diligent research and a well-structured
argument, a comprehensive and insightful essay can be produced.

Disadvantages Of Deposit Insurance
Deposit Insurance In India: An analysis
Chapter 1. Summary
The purpose of this report is to analyse the Deposit Insurance Scheme as is enforced
in India, and determine whether the current coverage limit of One Lakh rupees is
sufficient.
We have used certain socio economic factors to analyse and evaluate the DICGC
insurance cover, including factors such as rate of growth in accounts, average
deposits per accounts, inflation etc.
We intend to show through the research doneOur research suggests, that it would be
advisable to consider an increase of the Deposit Insurance Coverage Limits, to the
tune of three lakh rupees.
The report begins with a description of the need, concept and classifications of
deposit insurance. It also covers the working of a Deposit Insurance Scheme, along
with the various parameters and stakeholders involved.
We then highlight the scenario of Deposit Insurance around the world and touch upon
the internationally accepted best practices, in order to have a benchmark to compare
DICGC s performance with.
Our focus next would be on explaining the Indian DICGC and analysing the ... Show

More banks would be likely to adopt this attitude, which could cause bank failures
due to the risk taken, and the failure of a large number of banks could stretch the
resources of the Deposit Insurance Scheme to the point where it is unable to meet its
obligations to the depositors, thus undermining the faith of the public in the system.
This potential of moral hazard can be mitigated by limiting coverage of deposits,
either by amount, or number and so on, so as to prevent bankers from being fully
absolved of the consequences of the risks taken. Further, a deposit insurance scheme,
in an economy that has not stabilized, can end up straining the resources of the

Operation Argus. Starfish Prime. Project Star Wars and project A 119. The failed
Mighty Oaks hydrogen bomb test. These, along with other incidents, are part of a
long history of man made damage to our home planet.
In August of 1942, the American government began the Manhattan project to develop
and build the first nuclear weapon. On a Monday morning, July 16th of 1945, this
weapon was tested at New Mexico, and was a success. Shortly after, in August of
the same year, the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb over Hiroshima, Japan, and three
days later another bomb over Nagasaki, Japan. An estimated 140,000 peopled died in
the first blast, and 80,000 in the second, with untold numbers later dying of cancer
and other radiation effects. (It should be noted that these cities are once again
inhabited, though the location of the nuclear reactor meltdown in Chernobyl, Russia
is not. The Chernobyl incident contained much more nuclear fuel the largest bomb,
which exploded over Hiroshima had 140 pounds of uranium, two of which actually
reacted, while the Chernobyl reactor had 180 tons, six tones of which escaped.)
Fast forwarding to 1958, a whole new level of nuclear testing can be observed.
Hardtack Teak was a 3.8 megaton nuclear bomb detonated at 76.8 km above earth.
Hardtack Orange followed shortly after, along with Operation Argus later in the same
year. Argus consisted of the American Navy exploding three nuclear bombs
approximately 480 km above the earth. These tests were purposed by
Streptococcus Pyogenes is More than Strep Throat Essay
Streptococcus Pyogenes: More than Strep Throat
S. pyogenes infections may vary from mild to life threatening with a plethora of
symptoms due to the many types of infections it causes. This bacterium is responsible
for the diseases of pharyngitis, rheumatic fever, impetigo, erysipelas, cellulitis,
necrotizing fasciitis, acute poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis, and toxic shock
syndrome, just to name a few. Each of these infections has its own unique set of
symptoms as will be explored in depth below.
Streptococcus Pyogenes is a very diverse bacteria with effects ranging from nothing

Initial diagnosis of Streptococcal pharyngitis is determined by a point system
awarding 1 point for each of the following; temperature greater than 38 C, absence
of cough, tender anterior cervical lymph nodes, tonsillar swelling, age younger than
15, subtracting a point for age older than 45. If these symptoms are met, a rapid
strep test will be performed before antibiotics are given, a precaution taken to prevent
super bugs from developing.
If a streptococcal infection such as pharyngitis or scarlet fever is left untreated, there
is a small (~3%) chance that within approximately 20 days, the patient will present
with rheumatic fever. After the first bout of rheumatic fever, if the host acquires a
second untreated S. Pyogenes infection, the chance of coming down with rheumatic
fever jumps substantially to ~50%. Most often this secondary disease will strike
people aged 6 15 years old, roughly 20 days after the streptococcal infection, with a 2
5% mortality rate. One of the major diagnostic symptoms of this disease is Erythema
Marginatum, snake or ring like eruptions covering the trunk, upper arms, and legs.
Other symptoms include fever, arthritis (elbows, knees, wrists, and ankles), swollen
joints, pain in the abdomen, nodules
Shakespeare And Emerson Comparison
These two poems are by William Shakespeare and Ralph Waldo Emerson. The
poems talk about the idea of friendship and what it means to them separately. These
poems are kind of different in nature. One poem talks about how great it is to have
a friend and that friend will care for you for eternity. The other poem is talking
about a friend that he has lost and this makes him so sad that he cannot take it
anymore. In these two poems they use a different type of imagery in them and it
makes them unique in their own way. These two works use different types of
imagery and writing styles to describe the theme of friendship throughout these two
poems. In this paragraph I am going to talk about the summary of this poem and what
it means. In Friendship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Friendship Sonnet by William Shakespeare he talks about the hardship he has
with a friend and that a loss of that friend could hurt so much. In this poem he is
saying that he has wasted a lot of time with a friend and he feels depressed about
that. In the first quatrain he is talking about a man sweetly and silently reminiscing
the experiences of the past. Also, he is experiencing fierce pain for the wasted
time and is hurting a lot. In the second quatrain of the sonnet the pain is much
more as he thinks about the people that will never be in his life ever again. This
makes him cry because the pain he experiences is relived again. In the third
quatrain the debt of pain is reopened and he must pay the entire amount again. In
this poem he is basically crying about all the friends that he has lost and this
saddens him. In the end of the poem it is saying that if I just think about you all my
pain will end and I will be okay. This is the meaning of friendship because
everything will be alright in your life if you just think about the good times you have

The Winter Of The West Coast
Water
West:
I was raised on the west coast, so for me, west was literally the direction of water,
because that was the direction we headed when we wanted to see the ocean. Even
now, it makes sense to me to connect west with water. The strongest storms come
from the west through Oklahoma. Rain always seems to come from the west. West is
also the direction of the setting sun, and when at the ocean on the west coast, at
sunset, the sun looks like it is sinking into the water.
Fall:
Autumn is the time of year when the temperature starts to cool. Water doesn t always
have to be cool, but many ancients thought of water as a cool element. Most lakes,
rivers, and oceans are very cold in their natural states. Autumn is also the time of the
year when plants begin to turn inward and prepare for winter. Water is the element
associated with the subconscious, so it makes sense to associate fall with water.
Dusk:
Dusk, the moment of twilight, is when the sun sinks into the water on the west coast,
so it makes sense to associate it with this element. Also, in the evening, many people
come home and rest from the day. It is the time to relax and be ourselves, to turn
inward. In essence, at dusk people do the same things plants do in autumn, and
because water is associated with the subconscious mind, this connection makes sense.
Emotion:
Water is associated with emotions because it is associated with our subconscious
minds. When a person dives into the water they go down deep

The Issue Of Pregnancy Termination
Pregnancy termination is a controversial and sensitive subject that has sparked many
debates in the past five decades. It is a two sided issue between life and death of the
unborn child. Planned Parenthood (2017) reports that thirty percent of women in the
United States terminate a pregnancy before reaching forty five years of age. Abortion
has been legal in the United States since Roe v. Wade, a 1973 landmark decision held
that the Fourteenth Amendment s right of personal privacy covered the woman s
choice to carry a child or not. Republican Administrations such as those of Former
Presidents Ronald Raegan and George W. Bushhave been tough on abortion rights
and sparked anti abortion movements (Joffe 2013). With a new republican... Show

With Clinton cancelling the bill in the early nineties, President Bush later
reintroduced it, adding more elements. The Bush Administration added still more
teeth to the global gag rule, prohibiting funding of any group that promotes or
advocates legalization and practice of prostitution and sex trafficking (Garrett 2017).
Early into Obama s First 100 days, President Obama rescinded it again. There is a
pattern between liberal and conservative beliefs/actions and the Gag Rule. Garrett has
noted that evidence from research shows increase abortion rates under the bill.
However, abortions rates were significantly lower under Obama s administration due
to women having access to contraceptive options, sex education and most importantly
the right to make decisions in reproductive planning. Recently, President Trump has
announced his position on the Mexico City Policy and is leaning towards reinstating
it, despite the statistics on increases in abortions it has had over time (Garrett 2017).
Effects on the Black Woman and Community. Trump has switched his stance on
abortion since announcing his run for president. Once pro choice, he has recently
exposed a different side, from pledging to employ an anti abortion litmus test for his
Supreme Court nominees, to opining not only that abortion should be banned but
also that women should be punished for having the
Beyond The Things They Carried
Beyond the Things They Carried
The Vietnam War began in 1954, consisting of many extensive, horrific years of
battle that seemed to create more harm to the United States and its soldiers rather
than to North Vietnam. The 500,000 United States military personnel returned home
with the loss of the war and the loss of their friends on their minds. Although the
physical and emotional experiences that the men went through is unfathomable, Tim
O Brien does a great job portraying what life as a soldier was truly like in the Vietnam
War. In the book The Things They Carried, Tim O Brien depicts the unstable
emotional and psychological condition of the American soldiers through the
symbolism of their belongings and personal anecdotes from their lives. The book
opens with Tim O Brien listing items that the soldiers needed to carry with them for
life in Vietnam, such as a P 38 can opener, mosquito repellent, C rations, dog tags, and
many more necessities, weighing around twelve to eighteen pounds in total. Many
men also had the added weight of weapons needed for combat, which then added
another five to twenty six pounds depending on what weapon and the amount of
ammunition necessary. On average, most men carried around thirty pounds, but the
load was much higher when considering the emotional and psychological weight put
on their shoulders from the impact of these items. Early on in the book Tim O Brien
states, They carried all they could bear, and then some, including a silent
The Action Of The Colonist
1.The appropriate action of the colonist in response to the taxation imposed by the
British Crown. Take a moment if you will and think what it would be like if you
and all your friend spoke with British accents and instead of your morning coffee
you read the paper over the morning tea. Both are two small differences that would
be about if the colonist had not responded in the manner they did in their response
to the taxation imposed by the British Crown. We will never truly know how the
colonies would have turned out if they would had stayed under the rule of the
Crown. Nevertheless the Crown brought it upon itself with the taxation without
representation. The year is 1764 and the French and Indian War has ended. There
is a staggering war debt held by the crown. George Grenville the British Prime
Minister at the time decided to explore the option of taxing the colonies to make
the debt more manageable. According to (Roark et al., 2014) the sugar act was a
British law that decreased the duty on French molasses, making it more attractive
for shippers to obey the law, and at the same time raised the penalties for
smuggling. The sugar act regulated trade but was also intended to raise revenue
much in the same tradition of the Navigation acts. Grenville s hope for the Sugar
Act did not materialize, however the next year he escalated his revenue program
with the Stamp Act. In the words of (Roark et al., 2014) The Stamp Act was a 1765

Gender Inequality In The Workplace
In the United States as well as other industrial nations, considerable social and
economic disparity is shaped in organizations based on the customary activities of the
working and organizing the work. Various stakeholders such as the civil rights
reformers and the union activists have always based their demands on this notion to
understand how inequalities are instigated and continued. Despite the additional
effort put in place to eradicate inequalities based on several social factors; the
inequalities remain persistent and manifest within the workplaces and the
organizational practices (Alam, 2011). All the organizations have inequality regimes
which can be described simply as the interlinked practices, processes, undertakings,
and connotations that result in and maintain inequalities in specific organizations.
Such inequalities within the workplace result in the discrimination, which occurs
when an individual is treated less favorably compared to others due to an individual
s attribute rather than an individual s capability to do the job (OHRC, 2008). This
paper explores the discrimination based on genderand race in an attempt of illustrating
how such discriminations manifest in the workplace, and how that affects the
likelihood of being a part of the working poor.
Typically, gender is defined as the social construct that sets variances among men and
women as well as the opinions and characteristics that back the disparity. Despite the
efforts made to enhance diversity
Hydraulic Fracture Case Study
In grid based models, the fracture is propagated through a fixed grid. This idea was
used in early 2D hydraulic fracture simulators (Settari 1980) where when the stress
normal to the fracture plane exceeded the tensile strength, the fracture extended into
a new grid cell. Therefore, grid based models were suitable for coupling with
reservoir simulators and geomechanics codes (Ji, Settari, and Sullivan 2009). 3D
grid based models were extended to deal with multiple fractures, for example, the
MultiFrac Placement Pseudo 3D (MLF P3D) model (Dontsov and Peirce 2015).
These models are very complex being capable of simulating multiple hydraulic
fractures simultaneously propagating from multiple perforation intervals where each

2015). The Unconventional Fracture Model (UFM), developed by Cipolla et al.
(2010), considers the effect of natural fractures, stress distribution, and influence of
the mechanical properties of fracture morphology (Cipolla et al. 2010). The UFM
model can simulate the propagation of asymmetric fracture networks accounting for
fluid flow in the fracture network and elastic deformation of the fractures. The
initial assumptions and governing equations (fluid flow in the fracture network, mass
conservation and fracture deformation) are similar to the conventional P3D model
(Weng 2015).
Passey et al. (2010) claimed that there is a large variability in lithology between shale
plays and even within a single shale formation (Passey et al. 2010). Britt and Smith
(2009) emphasized the importance of geomechanics and the state of stress of a shale
play for a successful hydraulic fracturing stimulation (Britt and Smith 2009). In
addition, Rickman et al. (2008) stressed that the mechanical rock properties, such as
brittleness and mineralogy, are fundamental in completion designs. While ductile
shale tend to restore any fracture formed, brittle shale often have natural fractures
which react to hydraulic fracturing (Rickman et al. 2008). In general, the Young s
Modulus of the shale measured parallel to the bedding plane is greater than that
measured perpendicular to the bedding plane. Sone and Zoback (2013) explained the
role of anisotropy on the
Review of Ordinary Resurrections by Jonathan Kozol Essay
In his book, Ordinary Resurrections: Children in the Years of Hope, Jonathan Kozol
pulls back the veil and provides readers with a glimpse of the harsh conditions and
unrelenting hope that exists in a community located in the South Bronx called Mott
Haven. Mr. Kozol provides his own socially conscious and very informative view of
the issues facing the children and educators in this povertyravaged neighborhood.
Just his commentary would paint a very bleak picture of the future. It is the words
of the children that give this book optimism and meaning. The courage and care
exhibited by the volunteers of St. Ann s after school program and the creativity of

Teachers in wealthier schools are paid as much as $20,000 more than those working
in the South Bronx. P.S. 30, the best of Mott Haven s primary schools, runs short on
the most basic supplies and operates with little to no funding for a library, music, or
art education. The average class contains 31 students. Given these conditions,
somehow P.S. 30 still manages to retain talented, generous and energetic teachers
who are dedicated to providing their students with the education that they deserve. As
a teacher himself, Kozol understands the demands of the classroom and conveys
how very difficult it can be to simply manage a group of children, much less instruct
with creativity and grace. One seemingly tireless young teacher wins Jonathan s heart
with her joyful manner and, more specifically, gentle command of her students. He
highlights a few beautiful moments in her classroom when she guides the children
from growing distraction back into order and focus. At the first sign of chaos, Mrs.
Gamble rises to her feet, lifts her hands to mime playing a flute, trills a little, and
soon the children, too, have risen eyes on her, all improvising the flute section of an
orchestra until their leader places the invisible instrument back into its case and
silently glides back into the lesson. Spontaneity, creativity and an element of
playfulness are elements that raise teaching to an art form.
The Consequences Of Success In Animal Farm, By George
Orwell
Success is an iceberg. What you see on the surface is never the full story. Success
can also be very destructive. In the beginning, it seems harmless but the more that
is exposed, the more you uncover how many consequences come with it. In
George Orwell s, Animal Farm, He writes about the struggles endured throughout
the rises and falls of the characters in the book. Animal Farm was always doomed to
fail because the absolute power corrupted the pigs, the uneducated animals were
easily manipulated, and the commandments ended up only applying to the lower
class animals. As the pigs began to take over the farm they got power hungry. They
would sit and order the other animals around as Orwell explains in the following
quote, The pigs did not actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With
their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume the leadership.
This was the start of the pigs takeover. They were beginning to rule the whole farm
without regarding any of the other animal s opinions. The pigs assumed that they
were more equal than other animals and began to abuse this. Since Squealer was
excellent at speaking in a way in which everyone would agree, he used this to his
advantage. In one of his speeches Squealer said, Comrades! You do not imagine, I
hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us
actually dislike milk and apples.... Day and night we are watching over your welfare.

Child G And The Main Components Of The Phonetic Stage
Child G is 6 years old female and her parents express that she enjoys writing both in
school and at home. Her older sister goes to sleepaway camp during the summer
months and so in this piece of writing Child G talks about her weekend at her sister
s camp reunion. This writing is part of a weekly classroom activity, weekend news .
According to Gentry s five stages of spelling development, ChildG s writingsuggests
she is in the phonetic stage, with some examples of transitional writing present
(Gentry, 1982). In this piece of writing, the spelling of words has been based on
the sounds they hear, one of the main components of the phonetic stage. This is
most evident in the way she has spelt reunion, as reyouyen. This may be
understood better by child G with the use of syllable games, such as clapping as
saying words aloud to hear how many syllables are present. However, Child G does
show knowledge of the rules with regards to words ending in e, which is evident in
side. The National Curriculum states that childrenof this age should understand such
rule (Department for Education, 2013a), which indicates that Child G is progressing
into the transitional stage, and is starting to become less dependent on sounds when
writing (Wyse et al. 2013). In order for Child G to sit comfortably in the transitional
stage the child s teachers and parents/carers could use several methods. The Look

The progression of morality as it relates to the influence of family, religion and
society varies between Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Our contemporary society has
been influenced tremendously in many different areas by these different societies.
Social order in Asia was established by Hammurabi s Code of Laws. Hammurabi

Similarities between ancient Egypt and now is that the subject of divorce is a
private matter, unless one of the two wants to publicize it. As for the America s in
their advanced agriculture system led to modern society s agriculture as well. This
system was put to use by Ancient Peru after hunters were in search to consume foods
other than meats. Ancient Peru created the spread of corn, cassava, and potatoes
(Adas, 1992), this resulted in the growth population in the Americas, because people
who only had access to cassava were able to eat this new thing called corn. This
sense of spreading food is similar to how we can get Florida oranges, and Georgia
peaches to Delaware, by trade. Lastly, Contemporary society and the Americas both
served as a melting pot for existing civilizations. People of many descents migrated
to the Americas in search of something new, and today people from other countries
migrate to the many states of America to start a new life with new opportunities.
Once all the newcomers came and got settled in the Americas, a defined culture had

our American culture across many different areas of life. In comparison to all of the
societies mentioned above, each one has contributed to modern American culture in

The Mongol Empire And The Empire
I was watching my cousin play Fallout Shelter, and he said that the things that are
needed for a safe and long lasting shelter is charisma, agility, strength, and
perception. These four words best describe an innovative kingdom, and the kingdom
that best fit all these words was the Mongol Empire, the mightiest and biggest
Empire in the world. Mongols were nomads from north of the Gobi Desert. They
were first ruled by Genghis Khan, which means Universal Ruler . Temuchin, which
is Genghis birth name, lived a rough early life. His father was poisoned by an
enemy. When older, he decided to unite all the Mongol clans under one empire,
making him one of the most powerful people of all time (BK Essay). The Mongol
empire lasted for only 40 years, 1260 1300 A.D (Doc 1). Since then and before
then, there hasn t been an empire so big, with so many advances. Even though there
were many destructions throughout the process of the making of the Mongol
Empire, they should be remembered as an innovative empire because it was the
biggest empire in the world and still managed to be prosperous, it was tolerant
towards all races/religions and people and knew how to protect it, and last, but not
least, it made it s own government and its own way of governing it.

Road Not Taken Explication
Before winning awards and gaining the reputation of being a great poet, Robert
Frost struggled early in his life. Before taking his family to England to start a new
life in 1912, Frost s life was highlighted by variety of different jobs (727),
inconsistent attendance at college, and the attempt to run a farm. He also lost his
father at a young age and two of Frost s children either died or had a mental
collapse. However, after his move to England and the publication of his second
book, North of Boston, Frost finally found success. Most of Frost s writings are

Effective Communication In The Movie Rush Hour
Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth . Chris Tucker said
this to Jackie Chan in the 1998 movie Rush Hour. Rush Hour was about two police
officers from different cultures who could not communicate effectively. Effective
communication is essential in all aspects of life from work to personal relationships.
It is easy for a slight miscommunication to cause a massive problem. Effective
communicationis important because it ensures a message is conveyed properly, it
allows for proper planning, and provides the ability to ensure a shared understanding
is reached.
First, a major factor of effective communication is ensuring information is transmitted
properly. Loss of information can lead to a miscommunication with possibly
catastrophic results. Sara McComb of the University of Massachusetts elucidates
Communication occurs through two processes: the inscription by the sender and
interpretation by a receiver (7). When this two party system is acknowledged, it is

In the military, a leader s ability to extract intent from a message from its higher

Seat Belts
A seat belt is a restraining device installed in a vehicle to prevent or minimize the
force of an injury during a crash ( Seat Belts 5). Although it is also known as a
safety belt, the safety part is the key issue that is causing much controversy around
drivers, manufacturers, and researchers alike. The main idea around the debate is the
fact that although research indicates that when seat belts are used properly they save
lives, opponents argue that mandating their use can actually cause more harm than
good in some cases and is an infringement on personal rights. Car accidents are the
leading cause of death for people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freedom stops when we get to a point where others may be harmed or killed. As soon
as something puts lives in danger, the right of freedom disappears thus making
mandatory seatbelt laws a non infringement on freedom.
Seat belts are the single most effective traffic safety device for preventing death and
injury in a vehicle ( Seat Belt Safety, Seat Belt Laws ). Wearing a seat belt can
reduce the risk of crash injuries by 50%. Seat belts save lives and are effective in
preventing ejections from a vehicle. While opponents argue that in certain cases it
is better to not wear a seatbelt, wearing a seatbelt is usually the safer route. A
person will never know what type of accident they might enter and thus can t
prepare for a certain type of accident. You can t know whether or not having a
seatbelt will save you. It s better to wear a seatbelt and have a 50% of survival than
not wearing a seatbelt and have a 3% chance of being in a situational accident
where not having a seat belt will save you. Research shows that Seat Belts saved
more than 75,000 lives from 2004 to 2008 ( Seat Belt Safety, Seat Belt Laws ).
Without the mandatory use of seat belts, many lives could be put in danger and
this would have negative social and economic effects on society. 49 States in the
USA have issued mandatory seat belt laws to promote safe habits and to protect the
people. With this law in place, many lives have been saved as people were forced to
wear seat belts to properly
Texas Natural Disasters
Residents of the Lone Star State are fond of saying that everything is bigger in Texas,
from football teams to marching bands, farmers markets to barbecue favorites. But a
corollary to that oft spoken refrain is everything is better in Texas as well. After all,
the state was the second most inbound location for families who moved in 2015,
according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and for eight consecutive years, Harris County
maintained the distinction as the U.S. county with the most significant annual

The Effects Of Jake s Anxiety Disorder
There are multiple factors we can attribute Jake s anxiety to. In this essay we will
focus on how Jake s anxiety disorder would be treated by psychologists of three
different perspectives; a behavioral psychologist, a humanistic psychologist, and a
cognitive psychologist. While all would likely recognize that his more difficult
classes are acting as a stimulus for his anxiety, a behavioral psychologists would
emphasize that the stimuli s role in his anxiety, a cognitive psychologist would
focus on how the mind interprets its situation and perspective, and a humanistic
psychologist would focus on how Jake s self esteem and self concept is
influencing his ability to achieve in his harder classes. Let s start with the
behavioral approach; when looking at Jake s situation, a behaviorist would
probably focus on the stimulus that are contributing to Jake s anxiety and how he s
reacting to them. More difficult classes would make it so that Jake had to devote
more time into his studies. So if Jake is used to not having to work as hard, his
reaction to the stimulus of more work would probably be to put in the amount of
work he s used to putting in, and not putting in the more work required for him to
do well in his class. When Jake s grades are not where he wants them to be, his
reaction would be to become discouraged which might make him feel like his efforts
he is putting in is going unrewarded, leading to him being reluctant to put in more

Module 11 Research Paper
A big controversial part of our society these days is the wage gap. As my friend Kylie
s dad says: You can tell there is still a gap because no one wants to talk about it.
Some people ignore the issue and some people are just unaware to the issue entirely.
A wage gap inequality is a difference in pay from a white male to a different gender,
religion, or race. This is expressed as a percentage. Wage gaps have existed because
of the extreme segregation that has clouded our country for decades during our
country s history. In the past, it was not socially acceptable for women to work.
They were supposed to stay home and take care of the household. This creates for
differences in pay as women were integrated into the work force. The Gender Wage
Gap still exists and is an issue in our society because our mothers, wives, sisters,
and daughters still believe they are being paid unfairly, it is proven to be present
in every state in the US, and actions are still being made to this day to try and close
this narrowing gap. To further my research I have decided to research the gender
wage gap nationally as well as locally in North Carolina.
Nationally women on average are paid 80 cents to a man s dollar. Experts say that
women and men will not reach pay parity until 2059. This means that equal pay will
not be achieved until 43 years from now. This represents a big issue in our society. A

corporate strategy deals with the way a corporation manages a number of different

Arundel Partners Investment Analysis Essay
Arundel Partners Investment Analysis
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Background
The proposed business venture, Arundel Partners, is an investment group which
would purchase the sequels rights associated with all films produced by 1 or more
selected U.S. movie production studios for a specified period of time, or a
specified number of films. As your investment analysts, our goal is to assess the
value of the sequel rights to allow a determination of the value of the overall
investment as well as a reasonable price per film for the sequel rights.

A sequel is typically released to theaters 3 years after the orignal film s initial
release. Sequel rights also expire 3 years from the films initial release. Note that
Arundel must declare, based on the profitability of the first release, whether or not it
will produce the sequel, prior to the expiration of the rights at year 4.
RECOMMENDATION
Based on our valuation of the investment, as outlined below in the Analysis portion
of the report, we have determined a per movie value of $8.9 million when
considering purchasing the rights to the entire portfolio of 99 movies analyzed in
the sample data. Based on production of 10 sequels, the per movie value of the
portfolio would be $52.25 million. Our calculations based on the hypothetical
portfolio is that Arundel Partners should make this investment as long as the present
value of the expected cash flows from the sequel revenues exceeds the cost of
production plus the cost of the investment. Depending on what value a studio will
accept as payment per sequel, there appears to be significant profitability in the
investment.
ANALYSIS
As with all options there is more potential profit if the value of the underlying asset
is very volatile. Purchasing sequel rights prior to release of the films
Pirates Impact On Pirates
Popular culture would have one believe that the life of a pirate was one of
adventure at sea, filled with treasure maps and quests. Most modern day movies,
shows, or books tend to portray the life of a pirate as an underdog story, where the
pirates are the good guys, fighting for what s right. This, however, is not the case.
Piracyhas been romanticized by hollywood and does not even come close to
accurately representing pirates or the codes and values; at their core, pirates
terrorists, using violence and fear to get what they want. No one grew up in the 17

they made sure that everyone got the same amount of food no matter what. Even if

permitted to take any more food than even the lowest ranking pirate aboard.
Continuing the theme of equality, every decision was voted on by the entire crew,
and no one s vote was more powerful or influential than anyone else s. A common
misconception is that the captain of pirate fleets has supreme rule over all of his
men, but this was far from the case. He could only make decisions on his own in a
few specific circumstances. Aside from those circumstances, the captain would call
a meeting with all of the crew, and explain what situation they were in, and how the
thinks they should proceed. Anyone from the crew could build upon the captain s
idea, or come up with their own completely knew plan. The Captain would discuss
with his crew, and then a vote would be held. Even if the captain didn t get his way,
he would respect his crew s vote and do what they decided. A common thing that the
crews would vote on is how to deal with captured navy or merchant captains. Often
when merchant or naval captains were captured, their fate was determined by their
reputation. If the captain was known to mistreat his sailors, hold their wages, or

useless to a prince, machiavelli did say that it prints should allow themselves to

a moral occupation and that when the time comes to be in moral a ruler must be
able to frame to their people then in moral action was at least necessary if not to be
able to deceive them into believing that the action was moral to begin with. An

Cause And Effect Of Buying A Car
Cause and effects of buying a new car
Vehicles are a part of a person s everyday life these days. You see them everywhere,
no matter if it s a big city, or a little country town. People use cars to travel to all
sorts of places, whether it is a school or work. We push our vehicles to the
maximum so they seem to wear out really fast. It seems like every five to six years
you have to purchase a new one. People have so many causes to by a new car these
days but owning a car also comes with a lot of effects. New cars come with a lot of
benefits like reliability and warranties. The biggest downfall with buying that brand
new car is the car payment and that expensive car insurance. A new car might look
good, and you might get more attention, but you pay for that attention. You must ask
yourself is the cost worth the award?
The biggest thing that come along with a car is the car payment. After purchasing
a car and all the taxes with it you can be in a lot of debt. To pay for the car you must
take out a loan out from your bank for whatever you owe on the car. The bank makes
money of the loan by interest. Interest is a percentage a bank charges you to use
their money. Depending on your credit score depends on how much interest the
bank charges you. When you take out a loan you pay every month towards it until
you pay it off. When you first start paying your car loan off all the money goes to the
interest because the bank wants there money first and then after a few months or even

An alteration of ticket prices contains a solution for this case. Despite standards
which impede the youth s contact with violence in films and entertainment, there are
many methods which break down the systems placed, including ratings, in order to
access this content and this is where the problem lies. The film industry does not
consider changing the appeal of entertainment due to this issue. The film industry is
dependent on adults and children alike in order to sustain their economic success.
Without the support of the general public, their profit would plummet and create
chaos in the entertainment industry itself. While not allowing children to attend rated
R movies with their parents seems like the simplest solution, it is not a plausible one.
Upset parents and loss of profit for billion dollar companies impedes this solution s
implementation. The dangers of children being exposed to violence in media content
is a great concern to many but not to the film industry. Additionally, many parents are
uninformed and do not recognize the potential harm associated with exposing
children to fictionalized violence. For a solution to exist between concerned parents
and an industry focused around profit, negotiation has to benefit the multibillion
dollar industry in its primary focus. In

Altitude Safety Essay
Changes in altitude have a profound effect on the human body. The body attempts to
maintain a state of homeostasis or balance to ensure the optimal operating
environment for its complex chemical systems. Any change from this homeostasis is
a change away from the optimal operating environment. The body attempts to correct
this imbalance. One such imbalance is the effect of increasing altitudeon the body s
ability to provide adequate oxygen to be utilized in cellular respiration. With an
increase in elevation, a typical occurrence when climbing mountains, the body is
forced to respond in various waysto the changes in external environment. Foremost of
these changes is diminished ability to obtain oxygen from the atmosphere. If the...

At the base of the pharynx are two openings. One, the esophagus, leads to the
digestive system while the other, the glottis, leads to the lungs. The epiglottis
covers the glottis when swallowing so that food does not enter the lungs. When
the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the lungs air may pass freely into and
out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the windpipe branches into two
bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch many
times into smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called
alveoli. It is in the alveoli that the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes
place. The alveoli are shaped like inflated sacs and exchange gas through a
membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood and carbon dioxide out of the
blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of the gases, 2)
the area of the pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking,
1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide large surface areas for the free
exchange of gasses. The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane is less than
the thickness of a red blood cell. The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the
alveolar membranes are not directly affected related to altitude and affects gas
transfer in the alveoli.
GAS TRANSFER To understand gas transfer it is important to first understand
something about the behavior of gases. Each gas in our atmosphere exerts its

As an avant garde writer and a trend starter, Beckett was intensely in touch with his
own time and its most significant realities, one of which being technological
progress. In his play Krapp s Last Tape, first performed in 1958, we meet yet another
one of his spiritually crippled and disillusioned characters: Krapp, an old recluse.

Like in Endgame, the main character has an accurate recollection of his past, but
there is nothing left of it. Unlike 39 years old Krapp, 69 years old Krapp has no
more expectation for his opus magnum and his fire is lost: Nothing to say, not a
squeak [...] Seventeen copies sold, of which eleven at trade price to free
circulating libraries beyond the seas . Another similarity between Endgame and
Krapp s Last Tape is the terminal hopelessness of the characters. In Krapp s Last
Tape, the only significant event Krapp may hope for is his own personal death, in
Endgame it is perhaps the end of the world; in both cases, memory does not
restitute or create meaning. This notion is further emphasized in Krapp s Last
Tape, as the tape recorder does not even have the advantage of being vague. The
audience is made fully aware of how real Krapp s past has once been, and,
implicitly, we are told that he had discovered some transcending meaning, a reason
to give up everything, even his chance at happiness. Nonetheless, the machine
leaves Krapp wilted, a mere husk, to whom even the benefit of waiting is denied
because there is nothing to wait for. Krapp merely exists to exist; he is at one of
the last stages of Death as a process. In the world of the existentialists were choice
is deified, Krapp is godless and forsaken. In this sense, the machine becomes more of
an instrument of torture, a constant reminder of the old Krapp s helplessness as he
contemplates how
Marketing Strategies Of Bmw Benz
Marketing Strategies:
Whose is better, BMW or Mercedes Benz?
Introduction
In general, vehicles can represent their owner s status. Therefore many people spend
their money on buying a car which indicates their tastes and lifestyle. Car
manufacturers, from the cheapest to the most expensive, use many eye catching
marketing strategies to attract customers, especially for premium car brands. BMW
and Mercedes Benz are two of the most well known brands in the world. Coming from
the same origin, Germany, they compete with each other in selling their products.
The purpose of this essay is to identify which company has the better marketing
strategies when comparing between BMW and Mercedes Benz, by analyzing four
strategies: product, promotion, SWOT analysis, and market share. The paper is
organized as follows. The second section discusses the products, and is separated into
three parts: the variety of products, car prices, and after sales service. The third
section presents the promotion strategies which will show the companies budgets,
advertising on television, and other distribution channels. The fourth section reports
the discussion of the SWOT analysis for each company along with their current
market share. The fifth section provides the conclusion. The discussions of prices,
advertisements on TV, and other distribution channels refer to examples from
Thailand, the United States, the United Kingdom, and China respectively.

Steven Vail Case Summary
In this scenario we will assume a robbery was just committed, and the victim
provides the general description of the suspect. The police officer taking the report
works that particular area everyday and develops a possible suspect based on past
several similar past encounters with the suspected individual. The officer is unable
to currently locate the suspected individual for a show up, so he or she returns to
the victim. Instead of calling a detective to create a photo array, which would include
the officer s robbery suspect, the officer retrieves a booking photo of the suspect to
show to the victim. The officer prints a single photograph of the person who he or she
believes committed the robbery, and from that single photograph the victim identifies
the individual as the person who committed the... Show more content on

Therefore in this scenario the identification of the suspect is unnecessarily suggestive
and there is a legitimate chance of misidentification because of the personal bias of
the police officer (Hall, 2015). Furthermore, in the case of Steven Avery, officers
responding to scene of the rape may have influenced the victim s identification of
Steven Avery (Ricciardi Demos, 2015). In the documentary, one of the on scene
officers overhears the victim s description of the rape suspect, and replies that
sounds like Steven Avery (Ricciardi Demos, 2015). Subsequently, the victim
identifies Steven Avery in a photo array and he is convicted of rape (Ricciardi
Demos, 2015). Consequently, I feel the circumstances surrounding photo arrays can
be too suggestive, although police officers follow protocol when the photo array is
2001 Terrorist Attack
On September 1, 2001 a terrorist attacked was launched on the United States. A
total of 19 high jackers boarded planes in Boston and over took four planes. Two
planes landed in the World Trade Centers. One plane landed in the pentagon, the
American defense department. The people on the last plane attacked the terrorist and
the plane lost control eventually landing in a field. There were no survivors of that
crash, but they are recognized as heroes. The planes that landed in the trade centers
caused many debris in the air that caused people to suffocate. The buildings were so
hot that people jumped out of the windows. The jet fuel of the plane melted the metal
beams of the buildings and brought them crashing down. The attacks were

One artistic strength of Hong Kong cinema, then, is its use of parallels and motifs
musical, visual, or verbal to bind together episodically plotted films. : In Plots p 120
So far in this Chinese Cinemas class, I have noticed something every film we have
viewed in class and every Hong Kong film I have watched outside of the lecture: the
stories flow perfectly. At first the films could come off as confusing and spotty with
all the kung fu and epic stories. The Hong Kong films we have viewed so far have
these elaborate story lines that, with thanks to pristine editing and construction, flow
perfectly and the story is conveyed to the viewer with no ... Show more content on

She s the one who wants to be a singer! The use of homosexuality becomes a bit
more serious, as serious homosexuality can get in this comedy, when Sam begins to
find Wing, still disguised as a he, attractive. When Wing listens to Sam play the
piano in his apartment, you can tell that something has change between them. Even
Rose takes notice by how much attention Sam is giving Wing, saying, If you were
a girl, I m certain Sam would be after you. This also gets Wing thinking about Sam
and how much she likes him. For her, the feelings are normal because she s a
woman liking a man, but Sam s feelings for Wing are more complex because he has
no idea about Wing being a woman. But, Sam grows more attached to Wing
because of his personality and his ability to lead a simple life. When Sam suggests
leaving for Africa, Wing seems ecstatic about the idea, compared to Rose who just
wants to go shopping. They almost kiss while playing with the puppets and Sam
mentions how important Wing is to him. He abruptly leaves to go to Rose and
demands sex, as if that will make him forget about his feelings for Wing. But, even
while he is having sex with Rose, he has a vision that he is having sex with Wing.
He begins to question his love for Wing, and

Plasmodium Essay
The Malaria Parasite Plasmodium and the Epidemiology of the Disease
Abstract
For ages malaria has affected mankind in almost all parts of the world. It has left a
deep imprint on people who have been affected with the disease, and even today in
countries where epidemics are common, malaria is a constant threat to people s daily
lives. Malaria is caused by protozoan parasites of the genus Plasmodium (phylum
Apicomplexa), and there are four species in the genus that cause the disease in
humans. Their primary hosts and transmission vectors are female mosquitoes of the
genus Anopheles; humans act as intermediate hosts. Places near the equator with a
warm, subtropical climate are most susceptible to malaria endemics. More than half
of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More specifically, these pathogens belong to the phylum Apicomplexa. Their genus
is Plasmodia and their four species names are falciparum, vivax, malariae, and ovale
(Wikipedia 19). The fevers caused by these organisms vary quite a bit in their
1
clinical presentations so that different labels evolved for their symptoms, even
before microbiologists were able to distinguish them definitively around 1900.
However, their clinical syndromes overlap enough so that their relationship to one
another is apparent, a correlation which has been commonly recognized by
scientists throughout history as one disease called ?malaria? (Day 5). Thus, the
historian can make accurate guesses about which malaria parasite was dominant in
a certain outbreak of the disease. The two most common forms in U.S. history were
P. falciparum and P. vivax. P. Malariae was rare, and P. ovale does not occur outside
of Africa.
As discussed, because the malaria parasite is not a virus or bacterium, it differs
quite a bit from regular pathogens. Thus, explanation is needed about the complex
morphology of this organism. Depending on the developmental stage and species,
malaria parasites can be spherical, ring shaped, elongated, or crescent shaped, and
can range of 1 20 microns in diameter (Desowitz 89). Because P. falciparum is the
most common and deadly species in the genus, it is highly emphasized in research as
it will be discussed exclusively in this paper. Falciparum has several important
Homelessness In Tampa, Florida
The community that I will be using is in the city Tampa, Florida. It surrounds my
place of employment. During my observation, I notice that there are many minority
low income families, shelters for the homeless. Include homelessness. There are
three hospitals, 2 urgent care center, Walk in clinics, a behavioral clinic, nursing
homes with extended rehabilitation, few colleges and universities, miniature malls,
many dental offices, numerous fast food chains and restaurants. There are two
sports complexes: Steinbrenner s baseball field and the Buccaneer s Stadium. Also
there are many churches, Walmart Super Center, a movie theatre and a Zoo. The
people are very visible in the community. They were observed running, jogging,
walking, skate boarding, sitting on park benches, congregating in the front of
convenient store smoking and drinking beers what I believed to be beers because
the containers are in a paper bag. There are multiple bus shelters with adequate
benches and sheds as people lined up to wait for the bus while others... Show more

There are two liquor stores that are visible, but it was not peak hour so the traffic
to the liquor store was very slow. However, I notice that on the weekends people
would visit the liquor store more frequently. The few people that I observed going
back and forth from the liquor store did not appear intoxicated, but a few of them
appears as if they are under the influence of some other type of drugs. Some of the
people were clean and well dressed, while others were unkempt and scantily dresses.
On this particular day that I went to continue my surveillance, I saw some children
playing Jump rope skipping in the streets. Some of the adolescents were constantly
busy on their cell phones, while others ride their bicycles around. I saw pregnant
women including teenagers pushing their babies in
Summary Of Slavery In Toni Morrison s Beloved
Within the novel Beloved, it is clear for the reader to view slavery as the overlying
cause of the events that occur throughout the protagonist Sethe s life. Slavery has so
clearly shaped the history of the United States, and Toni Morrison expertly
incorporated fictional characters with this very real topic to describe the many
different ways that trauma can change the lives of so many. The characters all act
very different following their personal encounters with the impacts of slavery.
Morrison incorporates these contrasting reactions within the actual plot of
Beloved, and they become a major part of the novel s structure. One major theme
seen within Beloved is the way that powerful past experiences, in this case slavery,
can impact the ways that individuals not only act towards their loved ones, but the
actual ways in which these people display their love. Beloved has major effects on
each of the characters separately. Because she symbolizes slavery as a whole, such
an important part of each of their lives, when Beloved returns in physical presence,
the characters all react very differently. Through Sethe s eyes, Beloved has come
back to forgive her for her past sins. This is seen in Sethes dialog.
Beloved, she my daughter. She mine. See. She come back to me of her own free will
and I don t have to explain a thing. I didn t have time to explain before because it had
to be done quick. Quick. She had to be safe and I put her where she would be. But
my love was tough and she back now. I knew she would be (236).
Sethe needs Beloved to be hers, and in turn is oblivious to how Beloved is
affecting her both mentally and physically. She has made her decision, Beloved
came back for her, and this mindset ends up taking over her sanity. She becomes
obsessed with keeping Beloved happy, showering her with compliments and
constantly reassuring her that what she did in the past was really the best and only
option. However, as the novel progresses, we see that the ways in which Beloved
and Sethe interact change radically. Denver witnesses ... Sethe s eyes bright but dead,
alert but vacant, paying attention to everything about Beloved (284). Beloved begins
to drain the life out of Sethe, taking advantage of the

After all, homework is a ubiquitous aspect of academic life, and opinions about it abound. However, delving into the intricacies of the topic reveals a myriad of challenges that can make the writing process quite demanding. Firstly, one must navigate the diverse perspectives on homework. Some argue that it enhances learning and reinforces classroom teachings, while others contend that it contributes to stress and hampers creativity. Striking a balance between these conflicting viewpoints requires a nuanced approach, requiring the writer to critically analyze and synthesize information from various sources. Moreover, addressing the historical context and evolution of homework adds another layer of complexity. The nature and purpose of homework have evolved over time, influenced by educational philosophies and societal changes. Understanding these nuances is crucial to providing a comprehensive overview and presenting a well-informed perspective. • 2. Disadvantages Of Deposit Insurance Deposit Insurance In India: An analysis Chapter 1. Summary The purpose of this report is to analyse the Deposit Insurance Scheme as is enforced in India, and determine whether the current coverage limit of One Lakh rupees is sufficient. We have used certain socio economic factors to analyse and evaluate the DICGC insurance cover, including factors such as rate of growth in accounts, average deposits per accounts, inflation etc. We intend to show through the research doneOur research suggests, that it would be advisable to consider an increase of the Deposit Insurance Coverage Limits, to the tune of three lakh rupees. The report begins with a description of the need, concept and classifications of deposit insurance. It also covers the working of a Deposit Insurance Scheme, along with the various parameters and stakeholders involved. We then highlight the scenario of Deposit Insurance around the world and touch upon the internationally accepted best practices, in order to have a benchmark to compare DICGC s performance with. Our focus next would be on explaining the Indian DICGC and analysing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More banks would be likely to adopt this attitude, which could cause bank failures due to the risk taken, and the failure of a large number of banks could stretch the resources of the Deposit Insurance Scheme to the point where it is unable to meet its obligations to the depositors, thus undermining the faith of the public in the system. This potential of moral hazard can be mitigated by limiting coverage of deposits, either by amount, or number and so on, so as to prevent bankers from being fully absolved of the consequences of the risks taken. Further, a deposit insurance scheme, in an economy that has not stabilized, can end up straining the resources of the
  • 3. Project Star Wars And Project A 119 Operation Argus. Starfish Prime. Project Star Wars and project A 119. The failed Mighty Oaks hydrogen bomb test. These, along with other incidents, are part of a long history of man made damage to our home planet. In August of 1942, the American government began the Manhattan project to develop and build the first nuclear weapon. On a Monday morning, July 16th of 1945, this weapon was tested at New Mexico, and was a success. Shortly after, in August of the same year, the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb over Hiroshima, Japan, and three days later another bomb over Nagasaki, Japan. An estimated 140,000 peopled died in the first blast, and 80,000 in the second, with untold numbers later dying of cancer and other radiation effects. (It should be noted that these cities are once again inhabited, though the location of the nuclear reactor meltdown in Chernobyl, Russia is not. The Chernobyl incident contained much more nuclear fuel the largest bomb, which exploded over Hiroshima had 140 pounds of uranium, two of which actually reacted, while the Chernobyl reactor had 180 tons, six tones of which escaped.) Fast forwarding to 1958, a whole new level of nuclear testing can be observed. Hardtack Teak was a 3.8 megaton nuclear bomb detonated at 76.8 km above earth. Hardtack Orange followed shortly after, along with Operation Argus later in the same year. Argus consisted of the American Navy exploding three nuclear bombs approximately 480 km above the earth. These tests were purposed by
  • 4. Streptococcus Pyogenes is More than Strep Throat Essay Streptococcus Pyogenes: More than Strep Throat S. pyogenes infections may vary from mild to life threatening with a plethora of symptoms due to the many types of infections it causes. This bacterium is responsible for the diseases of pharyngitis, rheumatic fever, impetigo, erysipelas, cellulitis, necrotizing fasciitis, acute poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis, and toxic shock syndrome, just to name a few. Each of these infections has its own unique set of symptoms as will be explored in depth below. Streptococcus Pyogenes is a very diverse bacteria with effects ranging from nothing or a mild sore throat, to flesh eating disease, causing death in 40 60% of patients. The major and most common illnesses associated with this bacteria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initial diagnosis of Streptococcal pharyngitis is determined by a point system awarding 1 point for each of the following; temperature greater than 38 C, absence of cough, tender anterior cervical lymph nodes, tonsillar swelling, age younger than 15, subtracting a point for age older than 45. If these symptoms are met, a rapid strep test will be performed before antibiotics are given, a precaution taken to prevent super bugs from developing. If a streptococcal infection such as pharyngitis or scarlet fever is left untreated, there is a small (~3%) chance that within approximately 20 days, the patient will present with rheumatic fever. After the first bout of rheumatic fever, if the host acquires a second untreated S. Pyogenes infection, the chance of coming down with rheumatic fever jumps substantially to ~50%. Most often this secondary disease will strike people aged 6 15 years old, roughly 20 days after the streptococcal infection, with a 2 5% mortality rate. One of the major diagnostic symptoms of this disease is Erythema Marginatum, snake or ring like eruptions covering the trunk, upper arms, and legs. Other symptoms include fever, arthritis (elbows, knees, wrists, and ankles), swollen joints, pain in the abdomen, nodules
  • 5. Shakespeare And Emerson Comparison These two poems are by William Shakespeare and Ralph Waldo Emerson. The poems talk about the idea of friendship and what it means to them separately. These poems are kind of different in nature. One poem talks about how great it is to have a friend and that friend will care for you for eternity. The other poem is talking about a friend that he has lost and this makes him so sad that he cannot take it anymore. In these two poems they use a different type of imagery in them and it makes them unique in their own way. These two works use different types of imagery and writing styles to describe the theme of friendship throughout these two poems. In this paragraph I am going to talk about the summary of this poem and what it means. In Friendship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Friendship Sonnet by William Shakespeare he talks about the hardship he has with a friend and that a loss of that friend could hurt so much. In this poem he is saying that he has wasted a lot of time with a friend and he feels depressed about that. In the first quatrain he is talking about a man sweetly and silently reminiscing the experiences of the past. Also, he is experiencing fierce pain for the wasted time and is hurting a lot. In the second quatrain of the sonnet the pain is much more as he thinks about the people that will never be in his life ever again. This makes him cry because the pain he experiences is relived again. In the third quatrain the debt of pain is reopened and he must pay the entire amount again. In this poem he is basically crying about all the friends that he has lost and this saddens him. In the end of the poem it is saying that if I just think about you all my pain will end and I will be okay. This is the meaning of friendship because everything will be alright in your life if you just think about the good times you have had with your
  • 6. The Winter Of The West Coast Water West: I was raised on the west coast, so for me, west was literally the direction of water, because that was the direction we headed when we wanted to see the ocean. Even now, it makes sense to me to connect west with water. The strongest storms come from the west through Oklahoma. Rain always seems to come from the west. West is also the direction of the setting sun, and when at the ocean on the west coast, at sunset, the sun looks like it is sinking into the water. Fall: Autumn is the time of year when the temperature starts to cool. Water doesn t always have to be cool, but many ancients thought of water as a cool element. Most lakes, rivers, and oceans are very cold in their natural states. Autumn is also the time of the year when plants begin to turn inward and prepare for winter. Water is the element associated with the subconscious, so it makes sense to associate fall with water. Dusk: Dusk, the moment of twilight, is when the sun sinks into the water on the west coast, so it makes sense to associate it with this element. Also, in the evening, many people come home and rest from the day. It is the time to relax and be ourselves, to turn inward. In essence, at dusk people do the same things plants do in autumn, and because water is associated with the subconscious mind, this connection makes sense. Emotion: Water is associated with emotions because it is associated with our subconscious minds. When a person dives into the water they go down deep

  • 8. The Issue Of Pregnancy Termination Pregnancy termination is a controversial and sensitive subject that has sparked many debates in the past five decades. It is a two sided issue between life and death of the unborn child. Planned Parenthood (2017) reports that thirty percent of women in the United States terminate a pregnancy before reaching forty five years of age. Abortion has been legal in the United States since Roe v. Wade, a 1973 landmark decision held that the Fourteenth Amendment s right of personal privacy covered the woman s choice to carry a child or not. Republican Administrations such as those of Former Presidents Ronald Raegan and George W. Bushhave been tough on abortion rights and sparked anti abortion movements (Joffe 2013). With a new republican... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With Clinton cancelling the bill in the early nineties, President Bush later reintroduced it, adding more elements. The Bush Administration added still more teeth to the global gag rule, prohibiting funding of any group that promotes or advocates legalization and practice of prostitution and sex trafficking (Garrett 2017). Early into Obama s First 100 days, President Obama rescinded it again. There is a pattern between liberal and conservative beliefs/actions and the Gag Rule. Garrett has noted that evidence from research shows increase abortion rates under the bill. However, abortions rates were significantly lower under Obama s administration due to women having access to contraceptive options, sex education and most importantly the right to make decisions in reproductive planning. Recently, President Trump has announced his position on the Mexico City Policy and is leaning towards reinstating it, despite the statistics on increases in abortions it has had over time (Garrett 2017). Effects on the Black Woman and Community. Trump has switched his stance on abortion since announcing his run for president. Once pro choice, he has recently exposed a different side, from pledging to employ an anti abortion litmus test for his Supreme Court nominees, to opining not only that abortion should be banned but also that women should be punished for having the

Beyond The Things They Carried Beyond the Things They Carried The Vietnam War began in 1954, consisting of many extensive, horrific years of battle that seemed to create more harm to the United States and its soldiers rather than to North Vietnam. The 500,000 United States military personnel returned home with the loss of the war and the loss of their friends on their minds. Although the physical and emotional experiences that the men went through is unfathomable, Tim O Brien does a great job portraying what life as a soldier was truly like in the Vietnam War. In the book The Things They Carried, Tim O Brien depicts the unstable emotional and psychological condition of the American soldiers through the symbolism of their belongings and personal anecdotes from their lives. The book opens with Tim O Brien listing items that the soldiers needed to carry with them for life in Vietnam, such as a P 38 can opener, mosquito repellent, C rations, dog tags, and many more necessities, weighing around twelve to eighteen pounds in total. Many men also had the added weight of weapons needed for combat, which then added another five to twenty six pounds depending on what weapon and the amount of ammunition necessary. On average, most men carried around thirty pounds, but the load was much higher when considering the emotional and psychological weight put on their shoulders from the impact of these items. Early on in the book Tim O Brien states, They carried all they could bear, and then some, including a silent
  • 10. The Action Of The Colonist 1.The appropriate action of the colonist in response to the taxation imposed by the British Crown. Take a moment if you will and think what it would be like if you and all your friend spoke with British accents and instead of your morning coffee you read the paper over the morning tea. Both are two small differences that would be about if the colonist had not responded in the manner they did in their response to the taxation imposed by the British Crown. We will never truly know how the colonies would have turned out if they would had stayed under the rule of the Crown. Nevertheless the Crown brought it upon itself with the taxation without representation. The year is 1764 and the French and Indian War has ended. There is a staggering war debt held by the crown. George Grenville the British Prime Minister at the time decided to explore the option of taxing the colonies to make the debt more manageable. According to (Roark et al., 2014) the sugar act was a British law that decreased the duty on French molasses, making it more attractive for shippers to obey the law, and at the same time raised the penalties for smuggling. The sugar act regulated trade but was also intended to raise revenue much in the same tradition of the Navigation acts. Grenville s hope for the Sugar Act did not materialize, however the next year he escalated his revenue program with the Stamp Act. In the words of (Roark et al., 2014) The Stamp Act was a 1765 British law imposing a tax on all paper used
  • 11. Gender Inequality In The Workplace In the United States as well as other industrial nations, considerable social and economic disparity is shaped in organizations based on the customary activities of the working and organizing the work. Various stakeholders such as the civil rights reformers and the union activists have always based their demands on this notion to understand how inequalities are instigated and continued. Despite the additional effort put in place to eradicate inequalities based on several social factors; the inequalities remain persistent and manifest within the workplaces and the organizational practices (Alam, 2011). All the organizations have inequality regimes which can be described simply as the interlinked practices, processes, undertakings, and connotations that result in and maintain inequalities in specific organizations. Such inequalities within the workplace result in the discrimination, which occurs when an individual is treated less favorably compared to others due to an individual s attribute rather than an individual s capability to do the job (OHRC, 2008). This paper explores the discrimination based on genderand race in an attempt of illustrating how such discriminations manifest in the workplace, and how that affects the likelihood of being a part of the working poor. Typically, gender is defined as the social construct that sets variances among men and women as well as the opinions and characteristics that back the disparity. Despite the efforts made to enhance diversity
  • 12. Hydraulic Fracture Case Study In grid based models, the fracture is propagated through a fixed grid. This idea was used in early 2D hydraulic fracture simulators (Settari 1980) where when the stress normal to the fracture plane exceeded the tensile strength, the fracture extended into a new grid cell. Therefore, grid based models were suitable for coupling with reservoir simulators and geomechanics codes (Ji, Settari, and Sullivan 2009). 3D grid based models were extended to deal with multiple fractures, for example, the MultiFrac Placement Pseudo 3D (MLF P3D) model (Dontsov and Peirce 2015). These models are very complex being capable of simulating multiple hydraulic fractures simultaneously propagating from multiple perforation intervals where each perforation... (2010), considers the effect of natural fractures, stress distribution, and influence of the mechanical properties of fracture morphology (Cipolla et al. 2010). The UFM model can simulate the propagation of asymmetric fracture networks accounting for fluid flow in the fracture network and elastic deformation of the fractures. The initial assumptions and governing equations (fluid flow in the fracture network, mass conservation and fracture deformation) are similar to the conventional P3D model (Weng 2015). Passey et al. (2010) claimed that there is a large variability in lithology between shale plays and even within a single shale formation (Passey et al. 2010). Britt and Smith (2009) emphasized the importance of geomechanics and the state of stress of a shale play for a successful hydraulic fracturing stimulation (Britt and Smith 2009). In addition, Rickman et al. (2008) stressed that the mechanical rock properties, such as brittleness and mineralogy, are fundamental in completion designs. While ductile shale tend to restore any fracture formed, brittle shale often have natural fractures which react to hydraulic fracturing (Rickman et al. 2008). In general, the Young s Modulus of the shale measured parallel to the bedding plane is greater than that measured perpendicular to the bedding plane. Sone and Zoback (2013) explained the role of anisotropy on the
  • 13. Review of Ordinary Resurrections by Jonathan Kozol Essay In his book, Ordinary Resurrections: Children in the Years of Hope, Jonathan Kozol pulls back the veil and provides readers with a glimpse of the harsh conditions and unrelenting hope that exists in a community located in the South Bronx called Mott Haven. Mr. Kozol provides his own socially conscious and very informative view of the issues facing the children and educators in this povertyravaged neighborhood. Just his commentary would paint a very bleak picture of the future. It is the words of the children that give this book optimism and meaning. The courage and care exhibited by the volunteers of St. Ann s after school program and the creativity of the teachers at P.S. 30 are utterly inspiring. They work long hours and go beyond... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teachers in wealthier schools are paid as much as $20,000 more than those working in the South Bronx. P.S. 30, the best of Mott Haven s primary schools, runs short on the most basic supplies and operates with little to no funding for a library, music, or art education. The average class contains 31 students. Given these conditions, somehow P.S. 30 still manages to retain talented, generous and energetic teachers who are dedicated to providing their students with the education that they deserve. As a teacher himself, Kozol understands the demands of the classroom and conveys how very difficult it can be to simply manage a group of children, much less instruct with creativity and grace. One seemingly tireless young teacher wins Jonathan s heart with her joyful manner and, more specifically, gentle command of her students. He highlights a few beautiful moments in her classroom when she guides the children from growing distraction back into order and focus. At the first sign of chaos, Mrs. Gamble rises to her feet, lifts her hands to mime playing a flute, trills a little, and soon the children, too, have risen eyes on her, all improvising the flute section of an orchestra until their leader places the invisible instrument back into its case and silently glides back into the lesson. Spontaneity, creativity and an element of playfulness are elements that raise teaching to an art form.
  • 14. The Consequences Of Success In Animal Farm, By George Orwell Success is an iceberg. What you see on the surface is never the full story. Success can also be very destructive. In the beginning, it seems harmless but the more that is exposed, the more you uncover how many consequences come with it. In George Orwell s, Animal Farm, He writes about the struggles endured throughout the rises and falls of the characters in the book. Animal Farm was always doomed to fail because the absolute power corrupted the pigs, the uneducated animals were easily manipulated, and the commandments ended up only applying to the lower class animals. As the pigs began to take over the farm they got power hungry. They would sit and order the other animals around as Orwell explains in the following quote, The pigs did not actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume the leadership. This was the start of the pigs takeover. They were beginning to rule the whole farm without regarding any of the other animal s opinions. The pigs assumed that they were more equal than other animals and began to abuse this. Since Squealer was excellent at speaking in a way in which everyone would agree, he used this to his advantage. In one of his speeches Squealer said, Comrades! You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples.... Day and night we are watching over your welfare. According to Gentry s five stages of spelling development, ChildG s writingsuggests she is in the phonetic stage, with some examples of transitional writing present (Gentry, 1982). In this piece of writing, the spelling of words has been based on the sounds they hear, one of the main components of the phonetic stage. This is most evident in the way she has spelt reunion, as reyouyen. This may be understood better by child G with the use of syllable games, such as clapping as saying words aloud to hear how many syllables are present. However, Child G does show knowledge of the rules with regards to words ending in e, which is evident in side. The National Curriculum states that childrenof this age should understand such rule (Department for Education, 2013a), which indicates that Child G is progressing into the transitional stage, and is starting to become less dependent on sounds when writing (Wyse et al. 2013). In order for Child G to sit comfortably in the transitional stage the child s teachers and parents/carers could use several methods. As my friend Kylie s dad says: You can tell there is still a gap because no one wants to talk about it. Some people ignore the issue and some people are just unaware to the issue entirely. A wage gap inequality is a difference in pay from a white male to a different gender, religion, or race. This is expressed as a percentage. Wage gaps have existed because of the extreme segregation that has clouded our country for decades during our country s history. In the past, it was not socially acceptable for women to work. They were supposed to stay home and take care of the household. This creates for differences in pay as women were integrated into the work force. The Gender Wage Gap still exists and is an issue in our society because our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters still believe they are being paid unfairly, it is proven to be present in every state in the US, and actions are still being made to this day to try and close this narrowing gap. To further my research I have decided to research the gender wage gap nationally as well as locally in North Carolina. Nationally women on average are paid 80 cents to a man s dollar. Experts say that women and men will not reach pay parity until 2059. This means that equal pay will not be achieved until 43 years from now. This represents a big issue in our society. The god Poseidon, the god of the sea, sent a beautiful white bull, and asked King Minos to sacrifice the innocent creature to him. While not allowing children to attend rated R movies with their parents seems like the simplest solution, it is not a plausible one. Upset parents and loss of profit for billion dollar companies impedes this solution s implementation. The dangers of children being exposed to violence in media content is a great concern to many but not to the film industry. Additionally, many parents are uninformed and do not recognize the potential harm associated with exposing children to fictionalized violence. For a solution to exist between concerned parents and an industry focused around profit, negotiation has to benefit the multibillion dollar industry in its primary focus. In

The body attempts to maintain a state of homeostasis or balance to ensure the optimal operating environment for its complex chemical systems. Any change from this homeostasis is a change away from the optimal operating environment. The body attempts to correct this imbalance. One such imbalance is the effect of increasing altitudeon the body s ability to provide adequate oxygen to be utilized in cellular respiration. With an increase in elevation, a typical occurrence when climbing mountains, the body is forced to respond in various waysto the changes in external environment. Foremost of these changes is diminished ability to obtain oxygen from the atmosphere. If the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the base of the pharynx are two openings. One, the esophagus, leads to the digestive system while the other, the glottis, leads to the lungs. The epiglottis covers the glottis when swallowing so that food does not enter the lungs. When the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the lungs air may pass freely into and out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the windpipe branches into two bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch many times into smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called alveoli. It is in the alveoli that the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes place. The alveoli are shaped like inflated sacs and exchange gas through a membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood and carbon dioxide out of the blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of the gases, 2) the area of the pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking, 1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide large surface areas for the free exchange of gasses. The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane is less than the thickness of a red blood cell. The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the alveolar membranes are not directly affected related to altitude and affects gas transfer in the alveoli. GAS TRANSFER To understand gas transfer it is important to first understand something about the behavior of gases. Each gas in our atmosphere exerts its

Another similarity between Endgame and Krapp s Last Tape is the terminal hopelessness of the characters. In Krapp s Last Tape, the only significant event Krapp may hope for is his own personal death, in Endgame it is perhaps the end of the world; in both cases, memory does not restitute or create meaning. This notion is further emphasized in Krapp s Last Tape, as the tape recorder does not even have the advantage of being vague. • 46. Plasmodium Essay The Malaria Parasite Plasmodium and the Epidemiology of the Disease Abstract For ages malaria has affected mankind in almost all parts of the world. It has left a deep imprint on people who have been affected with the disease, and even today in countries where epidemics are common, malaria is a constant threat to people s daily lives. Malaria is caused by protozoan parasites of the genus Plasmodium (phylum Apicomplexa), and there are four species in the genus that cause the disease in humans. Their primary hosts and transmission vectors are female mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles; humans act as intermediate hosts. Places near the equator with a warm, subtropical climate are most susceptible to malaria endemics. More than half of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More specifically, these pathogens belong to the phylum Apicomplexa. Their genus is Plasmodia and their four species names are falciparum, vivax, malariae, and ovale (Wikipedia 19). The fevers caused by these organisms vary quite a bit in their 1 clinical presentations so that different labels evolved for their symptoms, even before microbiologists were able to distinguish them definitively around 1900. However, their clinical syndromes overlap enough so that their relationship to one another is apparent, a correlation which has been commonly recognized by scientists throughout history as one disease called ?malaria? (Day 5). Thus, the historian can make accurate guesses about which malaria parasite was dominant in a certain outbreak of the disease. The two most common forms in U.S. history were P. falciparum and P. vivax. P. Malariae was rare, and P. ovale does not occur outside of Africa. As discussed, because the malaria parasite is not a virus or bacterium, it differs quite a bit from regular pathogens. Thus, explanation is needed about the complex morphology of this organism. Depending on the developmental stage and species, malaria parasites can be spherical, ring shaped, elongated, or crescent shaped, and can range of 1 20 microns in diameter (Desowitz 89). Because P. falciparum is the most common and deadly species in the genus, it is highly emphasized in research as it will be discussed exclusively in this paper. Falciparum has several important

  • 48. Summary Of Slavery In Toni Morrison s Beloved Within the novel Beloved, it is clear for the reader to view slavery as the overlying cause of the events that occur throughout the protagonist Sethe s life. Slavery has so clearly shaped the history of the United States, and Toni Morrison expertly incorporated fictional characters with this very real topic to describe the many different ways that trauma can change the lives of so many. The characters all act very different following their personal encounters with the impacts of slavery. Morrison incorporates these contrasting reactions within the actual plot of Beloved, and they become a major part of the novel s structure. One major theme seen within Beloved is the way that powerful past experiences, in this case slavery, can impact the ways that individuals not only act towards their loved ones, but the actual ways in which these people display their love. Beloved has major effects on each of the characters separately. Because she symbolizes slavery as a whole, such an important part of each of their lives, when Beloved returns in physical presence, the characters all react very differently. Through Sethe s eyes, Beloved has come back to forgive her for her past sins. This is seen in Sethes dialog. Beloved, she my daughter. She mine. See.
