Searching Cell Phones
Most people have a lot of personal information on their cell phones, from phone calls
to pictures of them and their friends. I think that the government should have access
to one s cell phone information without a warrant, but with very specific restrictions
for when they can look through your phone and why. Normally, the government

US attorney general, Eric Holder released his opinion through a podcast on may

Language Processing Disorder
Children and most certainly adults can be diagnosed with language processing
disorder. The term Language disorder is broad, and could be understood in two
categories Language Processing Disorder (LPD) and Auditory Processing Disorder
APD. Although the two terms seems very closely related, they are very different. A
person that is diagnosed with LPD disorder may find themselves having difficulty
learning grammar, sentence structure, comprehending what is being read or said
(making sense of what being told) in a given language. The disorder may involve the
form of language (phonology, syntax, and morphology), its content or meaning
(semantics), or its use (pragmatics), in any combination (American Speech Language
Hearing Association 1993) . This does not necessarily mean that the child or adult has
a hearing loss. This could mean that their brain does not process or interpret auditory
information, properly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Especially, in young children. Early signs can be traced right in elementary school,
language disorders often exhibit reading and academic learning difficulties.
Although a teacher, physiologist etc. may assess a child with language disorders
varies based on the age of the child. A diagnosed in which reveals the severity of
the disorder is also observed during play behaviors, interaction with parents, siblings
and peers provides information about the child s cognitive and social development.
There are also certain literacy skills that could but used as a formative assessment.
Teachers should monitor how student print alphabets and names, can the student
recall the story or simply tell a story, conversations with peers and other written
samples of language. There are a lot of ways to see the symptoms in the assessments
of a child with language disorders. The results may indicate specific areas of deficit,

pathways. Your Walkway Will Be Customisable to Your Preferences You can
customise your walkway to fit your specifications or preferences. Pavers are easily
adaptable to even winding paths since the installers only need to cut them into the
necessary shapes. There are no limits to the configuration, curvature or length of
your walkways. In addition, the pavers come in all sorts of colours from cream to
chestnut depending on which pavers you decide to include in your walkway. For
a truly unique style, mix several colours together. Walkway Repairs Are Simple to
Perform With Pavers If a paver does crack or break, it is a simple task just to
replace it with another one. On the other hand, a poured concrete walkway will
need replacing when a crack appears to keep water from seeping under the rest of
the walk, which will increase the damage. All of the above reasons are why you
should select decorative concrete pavers for your walkway. Create imaginative

Lack Friends And Family

Family and friends play an important role in everyone s lives. Family can be parents,
siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends that were made in school or in a
neighborhood. Both family and friends serve as a support system to have fun with,
share experiences with, and get through life with. Spending time with loved ones
leads to feeling included, happy, and part of something bigger. However, sometimes a
job, homework, and other events get in the way and individuals are unable to be
included in family gatherings. On the other hand, sometimes people do not have the
skills to make friends throughout life or their friends have abandoned them because
of their own life decisions. Therefore, lacking friends and family time causes negative
effects including stress, exclusion, and depression which lead to a miserable,
meaningless life. A teenager in high school may be used to spending time with
family after school everyday and seeing friends on the weekend. The student feels
the effect of stress from getting hired for a part time job at a retail store and works
twenty five hours a week. Constantly busy; they lose the extra time to spend with
loved ones that they previously had. Now, the stress from working with the public
and helping customers while balancing homework and everyday life weighs heavy
on a teen. They have no time to express their stress with family or friends and the
pressure builds up. Morrie explains

Science is an astonishing, intellectual field; it teaches humans about life and allows
them to alter it in order to reap desirable results. The diligence and intellect of
scientists who are able to rework the human body has contributed to the sharing of
many beautiful and tear jerking stories about babies who have been born and
patients who have survived. As technology and knowledge about the body increases,
people begin to question how much we should use our intelligence to change the
bodies that God has created. However, within the medical sphere, specifically with
the process of modifying genes, scientists should use their God given gift of intellect
to control the evil, residing in the form of diseases, that would otherwise destroy all...

Individualism And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American poet during the 1800 s who identified
himself as a Transcendentalist. Self Reliance is one of Emerson s most famous
works that is widely known and was published after his death in 1882. Emerson s
works influenced other writers like Henry David Thoreau who was a close friend
of Emerson. Resistance to Civil Government is one of Thoreau s most famous
works. Although Emerson influenced Thoreau with his works and they were
close friends, both of them had two different ideas on the individuality of humans
and their way of life. Emerson believed that individuals conform to society and
others when they should follow their own way of life, instincts, and ideas. Thoreau
thought less towards society and more towards the government. He believed that
individual conscience is more important than an unjust government and the laws
they created. Self Reliance is an essay on the lack of individualism in a person in
society and the reasons behind why individuals do not think for themselves. He
states that because of our consciousness of how others will react towards us is one
of the reasons we do not think for ourselves and let our individuality show. We but
half express ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of us
represents, (Emerson 1164). As humans, we only show a few of our emotions or
hardly explain how we feel to others because we feel ashamed of our emotions and
our thoughts. He does not say it, but mostly anyone who
The Argument Against The Naturalism s View Of God
The Holy Bible revealed to us that God is a symbol of goodness. He likes creating
good things. He declared each day work as good in His own sight. He finally
pronounced all His creation as being good and complimenting each other. Almighty
God forever, remains the highest good any human could seek and a standard to
measure goodness.
Against the naturalism s view of man is that Human beings are complex machines;
personality is an interrelation of chemical and physical properties we do not yet fully
understand (Colorado Christian University, 2014). In the Bible, God revealed himself
as the creator of earth and created He man in His own image. God is the creator of
heaven and earth and all that dwells in it, including human, animals, nonliving
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson Essay
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson, is a story
written in the first person about a young girl named Melinda Sordino. The title of
the book, Speak, is ironically based on the fact that Melinda chooses not to speak.
The book is written in the form of a monologue in the mind of Melinda, a teenage
introvert. This story depicts the story of a very miserable freshman year of high
school. Although there are several people in her high school, Melinda secludes
herself from them all. There are several people in her school that used to be her
friend in middle school, but not anymore. Not after what she did over the summer.

However, Melinda feels it to the extreme. Melinda went through a traumatizing
experience, and everyone and everything around her contribute to the
uncontrollable pain she is feeling. This pain has lead her to depression. Throughout
this story Melinda has missed several opportunities to reach out for help. Teenage
depression isn t just bad moods and occasional sadness. Depression is a serious
problem that impacts every single aspect of a teen s life. If left untreated, teen
depression can lead to problems at home, school, and in other aspects of ones life.
Depression is often caused by past traumatic events. Although some teens aren t able
to really process what is going on, they remember and are haunted be the event every
day. It is extremely important to be informed about adolescent depression, and what
can be done to help. Throughout the story, Melinda shows many signs of depression.
Teens will often display changes in their thinking and behavior, lose their motivation,
or become withdrawn. Psych Info Online presented some signs of depression that
Melinda experienced in the novel. The signs Melinda indicated include: sadness,
anxiety, feelings of hopelessness, withdrawal from friends, decreased interest of
activities, social isolation, poor communication, low self esteem, guilt, and
Greece In The 1920s Research Paper
Cultural Factors
Economic Factors The Greek population in the U.S. started to grow in the 1900s to
1920s. The Greek population boom was mostly young males, who desired to make a
fortune and then return back to Greece (Waves of Greek Immigration , n.d.). There
were poor economic conditions in Greece during the 1900s caused the increase in
Greek immigrates (Waves of Greek Immigration , n.d.). The U.S. economy allowed
for unskilled city jobs to open up, which attracted the Greeks. Immigration of Greeks
still continues today but at a much lower rate (Waves of Greek Immigration , n.d.).

These two different worlds of conflict are between family devotion and self

marriage (Jugrens, n.d.). Education and a career comes second, and is at times

On October 29th, 2012, the NYSE was forced to shut down operations for two days
in lieu of Hurricane Sandy, which severely impacted their stock sales and purchasing
exchanges. NASDAQ had no issues during this time because they don t utilize a
physical location for trading. This is one of the larger disadvantages that NYSE has
when compared to NASDAQ, which had no trouble working past the storm through
their electronic communications model. [IMPACT, MORE INFO] The New York
Stock Exchange utilizes the NYSE Euronext, integrating an electronic stock exchange
model with their in person trading floor model in 2007. This change introduced the
NYSE as the first global stock exchange through their integration of the electronic
stock exchange model introduced by Amsterdam based Euronext [10]. Despite their
electronic stock exchange, buyers and sellers still meet on the NYSE floor in person
to negotiate the sales and purchase of the stocks. The NYSE is one of the only
remaining stock exchanges where physical interactions are necessary for stock sales
and purchases.

Education Of A School s Physical Education Program
education in a school system equally. Looking at it from this standpoint, we can say
physical education will have meaning when all of these factors are contributed and
put together. We have to work together to implement physical education in the
schools, but it will all be worth it in the long run (France, 2011, p.51). Staff, as
stated from the article written by Huberty, is a big part of a school s physical
educationprogram. Most of the participants and staff from this study believe physical
activity is important, but limited because of the amount of homework given,
pressure from peers, and the lack of ability to perform at home because of limited
equipment. I believe all of these factors are important because this is something very

Taking into consideration those factors and learning to differentiate lessons for those
students is very important for success and building of a physical education program.
The most important part about a physical education lesson is so each and every
student is participating to his or her fullest and best ability, while also learning
something. Whether or not a lesson has to be differentiated or adapted, they
should all be learning (Ebbeck, 2015, p. 54). Saving the best for last, obesity.
According to schools in Texas and Governor Rick Perry, these schools will be
participating in physical education to reduce the beginning of diabetes. Since
America is considered overweight, they did not think there was a better way to
hopefully decrease obesity than to incorporate more physical education in to
schools. Kindergarten through fifth grade graders are required to exert for thirty
minutes during PE or structured recess, which students will begin this fall (Obesity,
2007, p.1). This also goes along with the taking away of recesses. We should not be
taking away things, which benefit our students lives. Overall, physical education
courses can help a students overall well being and health. This is the goal they aim to
pursue at these Texas schools. They also are requiring mandatory testing based upon
levels of attendance, meal
Underestimated Due With An Inadequate Surveillance
System
underestimated due to an inadequate surveillance system. Though this was partially
a result of basic failures of the surveillance system (such as a lack of timely
reporting and a lack of laboratory confirmation or serotyping), it was also due to a
lack of economic interest. In the 1990s, increases in tourism (driven by cruise ship
lines, etc.) stimulated interest in identifying and preventing outbreaks, which could
be bad publicity and thus economically devastating. Likewise, although Ebola
hemorrhagic fever (EHF) has ravaged communities in West Africa since the 1970s,
only recently has the disease captured the attention of Western mass media (CDC,
Outbreaks, 2014). A lack of mobility in the impoverished rural areas typically

As a result of this, American economic stimulation in the Caribbean demanded
surveillance increases; the possibility of travel by EHF victims/contacts from West
Africa caused hysteria in the Western world and stimulated intervention from world

2.A case study outline for salmonellosis involves the identification of the source and
the surveillance of the disease. Then, a study method is chosen (here, a retrospective
case control study) to determine risk factor and more. Data is collected and
assessed to aid officials in introducing measures to prevent the spread and correct
the behavior that causes it (ranging from improper egg handling to improper
farming techniques). A case study outline for EHF would begin similarly. EHF has
its origins in the jungle, but it is still key to identify a source. After a source is
found, all contacts must be identified. Thus, we see that the case study for EHF is
more human centric. A case control study would be the practical study design, as it is
less intensive and less expensive. Treating EHF requires a large amount of money
and resources (medical personnel, PPE, etc.). In contrast, individuals with
salmonellosis require adequate fluids to heal and little else. A salmonellosis outbreak
would have a case study outline very similar to that of a norovirus outbreak. One
major difference is person to person transmission is possible with norovirus but not

The use of lens B, a convex lens, clearly demonstrated the convergence of a real
image on the white screen. Joining together lenses A and B and calculating their
joined focal length provided an opportunity to compare the results to their
predicted focal length based on the individual values of A and B using the equation
1f1+ 1f2 = 1feff . The results were fairly close. Joining together lenses B and C
combined a converging with a diverging lens and provided an opportunity to
calculate the location of a virtual image formed by a concave lens. The focal length
of the joined lenses was about double the focal point of the individual converging
lens. This makes sense as rays entering the converging lens are not parallel rays
entering the lens from the normal, but are diverging rays entering at obtuse angle.
The angle exiting the converging lens is at a wider angle than rays entering from
the parallel, and this causes the real image to be focused further out. The focal
length value for lens C is a negative number. This is characteristic of diverging lenses
and the focal point refers to the location of a virtual image behind the lens. Error
Analysis: Percentage errors were calculated using the equation: predetermined value

Saturation And Synthesis Essay
Discussion When the degree of saturation О© is equal to one, the system is at
equilibrium. When О© is greater than one, precipitation should occur because the
solution is saturated in ions with respect to the solid mineral form. The data show
that gypsum should have started precipitating between sample 1 and sample 2
collection time, because this is when the degree of saturation moves to beyond 1.
The peak saturation for gypsum occurs between sample 3 and sample 4, and
decreases afterwards. This decrease is most likely caused by the decrease in available
ions after gypsum continued to precipitate through the experiment, leaving fewer
calcium and sulfate ions to contribute to the degree of saturation. As evaporation
continues, halite approaches... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Degree of saturation calculations showed that gypsum precipitated sometime before
sample 2 was taken and peaked around the time sample 4 was taken. Although
calculated degrees of saturation for halite did not exceed 1, the sudden decrease in
sodium and chloride ions in solutions indicate that precipitation most likely occurred,
and then exhausted the ions to the point where the solution was no longer saturated.
Because the precipitate was not analyzed, whether or not halite did precipitate out is
not known. The order of precipitation recorded in the experiment agrees with Usiglio

Women in The 16th Century Essay
The belief that women were inherently inferior in intelligence, strength, and
character was so persuasive that for men like Knox, a woman ruler was almost a
contradiction in terms ( Documents for Chapters 5 6 ). In the 16th century, women
were looked upon as a gender that should stay in the house and work, not have
power and rule over a country. Discussing the govern of Queens during the 16th
century, such as Mary Tudor, Lady Jane Grey, Mary, Queen of Scots, and Elizabeth I,
allowed prejudices to be lessened but never completely be erased. No matter how
these four notable ladies came into power, the accomplishments they overcame,

as stated, And now, good subjects, pluck up your hearts, and like true men stand
fast against these rebels, both our enemies and yours, and fear them not; for I
assure you, I fear them nothing at all ( Women in Power , 668). Mary showed no

On the other hand, Lady Jane was not as bold to lead others during her short reign.
Lady Jane Grey only held power for a few days before meeting her demise along
with her husband. As a woman in power, Lady Jane had a promising outlook to
being Queen, but Mary I held this opportunity back because she was to inherit the
position, not Lady Jane. Although, through Lady Jane s writings, she was a very
strong willed person that was firm on what she believed, but this was not all she
needed to become queen. Lady Jane wrote in a prayer, O Lord, thou God and

The Brother s Karamazov Essay
Analysis 1:
The Brother s Karamazov
1. What is the purpose, audience, and context of the text?
Fyodor Dostoevsky is renowned as one of the world s greatest novelists, being
born in Moscow, Russia in 1821. Dostoevsky s early view of the world was shaped
by his experience of social injustice. His father was murdered, while he was away
at school, by the his own serfs the social system that Dostoevsky despised.
Dostoevsky had been imprisoned as a result of printing illegal socialist propaganda;
this imprisonment was to affect him in the greatest of ways. He had developed a
conservative concern for traditional values, leading to a large influence in his works.
In the novel, The Brother s Karamazov, Dostoevsky specifically questions the
existence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both texts, the protagonists experience rediscovery and self discovery, which
reflect upon their actions and characteristics. Ivan Karamazov attempts to see the
world in his light, and find out the answers to his own questions . After consoling
with a number of people including Fyodor and monks from the monastery, he is able
to understand the workings of the world and himself. Similarly, Errol discovers a
new world in comparison to his own; a world in which he has never seen. Also, Errol
s discovery of new feelings toward Dolly and the Aboriginal peoples allows for a
complete sense of discovery as a whole
Violence and Its Forms
Violence was, and remains today, a versatile concept in theatre. Violence is
something we desire to see as an audience, yet simultaneously a majority of people
would never commit the atrocities found in Macbeth. There exists a thin line between
acceptable violence and violence that turns an audience away from sympathizing with
a character. In this essay we will evaluate the differences between the various forms of
violence found within Macbeth, and analyze why the audience can accept some acts
of violence, while deeming others inhumane. The clearest breeds of violence found
in the play are; war violence, law breaking violence, sociopathic violence, and
descriptive violence. Shakespeare places these different forms of violence... Show

And even now,
To crown my thoughts with acts, be it thought and done:
The castle of Macduff I will surprise,
Seize upon Fife, give to th edge o th sword
His wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls
That trace him in his line. No boasting like a fool.
(IV.i.1726 1733)
Macbeth addresses the difference between fantasy and actuality. Shakespeare may
have been suggesting that it is a human element to have demons for daydreams and
that it is part of the human consciousness to fantasize horrible acts such as murdering
for power, but that it is only unheavenly violence when these thoughts are acted upon.
War violence is the most publically accepted form of violence. Macbeth is
introduced as a courageous man because he was able to win the war for the Scottish.
For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name
Disdaining fortune, with his brandish d steel,
Which smoked with bloody execution,
Like valour s minion carved out his passage
Till he faced the slave;
Which ne er shook hands, nor bade farewell to him,
Till he unseam d him from the nave to the chaps,
And fix d his head upon our battlements.
(I.ii.35 42)
The play Macbeth is introduced with violence, but unlike the violence that follows
this battle, the future gore is unacceptable. Macbeth is explained to have cut a man
from his navel to his jaw, and then place his head on a castle wall. As violent as this
is, it is the only act Macbeth does in the entire play that is noble. The opening
An Analysis Of Poetry Explication In One Art
Poetry Explication Essay One Art In the villanelle One Art written by Elizabeth
Bishop, the poem dramatizes the conflict between the speaker wanting to let go of
the things that she has lost, but has a hard time doing so. This poem is worded in a
way and tone that gives a heartbreaking effect to the reader as the speaker discusses
what she has lost and how [t]he art of losing isn t hard to master (Line 1, and also
others). As the poem progresses, it is revealed that the speaker is unsure about
letting go and has a challenging time with it. The persona who Elizabeth Bishop
presents in the poem On Art brings to the reader the idea that [t]he art of losing isn
t hard to master (1). Trying to not to miss these things, she goes on to express how
so many things seem filled with the intent/ to be lost (2 3). Things were made to be
lost, which from a reader s point of view can be compared to how humans are
made to eventually die. As the speaker continues, she explains what some of the
things that she has lost are. These include; lost door keys, wasting time away,
places she wished to visit, her dreams, people, her mother s watch, places she s
been, and finally, you (16), whom the speaker is telling this all to. This poem
expresses the idea that things lost are often times hard to let go of, even when it
does not seem the case. Though the poem states throughout the first 5 out of 6
stanzas, [t]he art of losing isn t hard to master (1), by the 6th stanza, the reader can
see that the persona whom the poet has created starts to doubt and question herself.
This is shown through the use of changing the specific poem form. The last stanza
has 4 lines as the rest have only 3. The poet consciously bended the rules of a
villanelle poem to give a certain effect of heartbreak and change. This allows the
reader to understand how the speaker realizes that she is having a harder time
moving on from what she had hoped to master, the art to not feel sorry for herself
when things become lost. This is shown when the repetitive line now becomes the
art of losing s not too hard to master/ though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster
(18 19). It is not made clear the exact speaker of the poem. The
America Vote Act ( Hava )
I was surprised to discover that voter identification began in 1950 when South
Carolina became the first state to request some form of identification from voters
at the polling precincts. Then Hawaii followed in 1970, Texas in 1971, Florida in
1977, and Alaska in 1980. Some of them asked for an ID with a photo, while others
asked for any type of document with or without a photo; all provided other means
for people to vote if they couldn t present identification. By 2000, fourteen states
were asking for voter identification documents ( Voter ID ). That year, we had a
highly disputed presidential election. Following its outcome, the United States
Congress passed the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) in 2002, which ushered in
comprehensive election reform. Under the law, states are required to follow
mandatory minimum standards that included implementing new programs and
procedures such as provisional voting; voting information and voter education;
upgraded, tested and certified voting technology; statewide voter registration list;
voter identification procedures; and an improved election administration system (
Help America Vote Act ). The Commission on Federal Election Reform advocated
similar propositions in their 2005 report (69 70). Consequently, voter ID laws were
enacted around the country. The laws require eligible voters to produce government
issued identification before casting a countable ballot at the polls. Voter

smelled the sweet flowers and ate them. They immediately feel into a deep and
troubled sleep. From that day on, they awoke only long enough to gather the lotus

wanted only to drift in and out of sleep.1 The story of the lotus eaters and similar
tales from ancient times show us that drug use is not new. Today this problem
threatens all of our society. The worst, most deadly of drugs, however, is cocaine. This

Because the brain tells the heart how fast and often to beat, using cocaine can make
the heart pump so fast that it damages the muscles or can lead to a heart attack. Since
the brain also tells the lungs how often and how deep to breath, the use of cocaine can
cause those signals to get mixed up leading to a shortness of breath or the complete
failure of the lungs to work causing instant death. The use of cocaine is seriously
addicting.
Monkeys will keep giving themselves doses of cocaine until they die; most people
will follow the same trend.3
The world of sports has many sad examples of people who made the poor choice to
use drugs. Perhaps the saddest is that of Lenny Bias. Len Bias was a star on the

Pablo Escobar Thesis
Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar s ambition and ruthlessness made him one of the
wealthiest, most powerful and most violent criminals of all time (Biography, 2017).
Pablo Escobar was a smart and powerful man who became rich by being a drug
dealer and his drug interest was cocaine. His first rodeo where he got his hustling
training from trafficking and smuggling cigarettes and committing other little petty
crimes. Escobar had only been arrested for possession of drugs one time in his

kingpin and the leader of the Medellin Cartel, made up of other criminals out of

Decadence in Death in Venice
The premise of decadence was tremendously popular in late 19th century European
literature. In addition, the degeneracy of the individual and society at large was
represented in numerous contemporary works by Mann. In Death in Venice, the
theme of decadence caused by aestheticism appears through Gustav von Achenbach s
eccentric, specifically homoerotic, feelings towards a Polish boy named Tadzio.
Although his feelings spring from a sound source, the boy s aesthetic beauty,
Aschenbach becomes decadent in how excessively zealous his feelings are, and his
obsession ultimately leads to his literal and existential destruction. Thus
exemplifying, as will be examined in the following, how aestheticism is closely
related to, and indeed often... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as he walked down the crowded city streets scrutinizing his second
destination he was repulsed. The farther he went, the more tortured he was by the
dreadful alliance of sirocco and sea air a condition that both agitates and enervates.
He sweated painfully. His eyes blurred, his chest tightened, he was feverish, the
blood pounded in his temples...wiping his forehead, he realized he had to find a
different vacation spot. This idea is a strong instance of aestheticism interacting
with decadence in the sense that Venice originally represented to Aschenbach,
beauty and renewal. His trip was supposed to refresh him as an author and an aging
man but instead he reached a land that, although aesthetically pleasing, was dirty,
crowded, and repugnant. The last moments before Aschenbach slipped into
complete decadence, his object of adoration was not enough for him to suffer for.
He packed his bags and said his good bye s to both the boy and the city that had
twice made him ill, prepared to leave. Misdirected baggage was the practical reason
for his remaining in Venice but as Aschenbach gazed adoringly at his idol he admits
to himself that it was Tadzio, the embodiment of youthful beauty, who had made it so
difficult for him to leave. At this point in the narrative it becomes clear that quite
literally Tadzio is a representative of the aesthetic muse that Aschenbach, being an
artist, was searching for. From this point
The DREAM Act Essay
Every year, about 2.8 million students graduate from a United States high school.
They have dreams of going to college or to the military to have an opportunity to
make something of their lives. However, each year, there is also a group of about
65,000 students who will not have that chance to advance in their lives
(CIR_DREAM paragraph 1). They are unable to do so because they were brought to
the US illegally by their parents when they were children, and have the status of an
illegal immigrant. Despite the fact that these individuals have lived their entire lives
in the US, this immigrationstatus hinders their ability to obtain a higher education.

There is one bill that would help solve the problem of illegal immigrants not being
able to advance their education. This bill is the Development, Relief and Education
for Alien Minors Act or the DREAM Act. The DREAM Act applies to immigrant
teenagers who arrived to the U.S. as a child, graduated from a U.S. high school, and
lived in the U.S. for at least five years. These people would have an opportunity to
gain a conditional permanent residency and eventual citizenship. The DREAM Act is
a plausible solution to solve this problem that illegal immigrants face.
The DREAM Act provides relief for immigrants who cannot afford to pay the out
of state or international fees for college tuition. There are certain conditions that
are in effect to limit the number of immigrants eligible for this act. The conditions
are that the student will have to take a temporary six year residency and within
those six years, he/she would have to either be in a two year bachelor s degree
program in college or serve in the Military or any of its affiliates for two years
(Nick section 3). In the US, alien minors can only obtain permanent residency
through their parents. If their parents came to the US illegally, there is no possible
way they can achieve this. Even if they decide to go back to their country of origin,
they cannot get a documented status nor could they come back to the US for ten
years. The DREAM Act

Chinese culture background that concerns about showing respect for others

the solidarity between them. Once the solidarity is built within the company, it
helps encourage the employees consider the whole company as oneself and accept
the lay off activity as it can make the company become stronger as the CEO

show addressees that the addresser is interested and care for them. With feeling to

The Science Of Determination The Figure Of The Earth
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Research Background:
Geodesy is considered, according to Bruns (1878) and Helmert (1884), as the
science of determination the figure of the earth as well as its gravitational field. This
covers the basic general form of the earth as a flattened rotational ellipsoid and the
visible topographic surface resulted from gravitational attraction of uneven inner
masses. Thus, physical and geometric aspects are inseparably correlated (Moritz
2015).
In geodesy, the figure of the earth refers to the figure extracted physically or
mathematically from the true surface of the earth (Moritz 1990). This includes the
geoid and the reference ellipsoid along with the normal ellipsoid. While the geoid
can be interpreted as the physical figure of the earth, the reference ellipsoid can be
considered as the mathematical figure of the earth, and the normal ellipsoid can be
considered as the mathematical and physical figure of the earth. However, the
reference ellipsoid and the normal ellipsoid are a close approximation of the geoid.
Hence, the figure of the earth studied in geodesy mainly refers to the figure of the
geoid (Lu et al. 2014).
Geoid is defined as an equipotential surface of the earth s gravity potential, where
the mean surface of the oceans particularly forms a part (Hofmann Wellenhof and
Moritz 2005). On oceans, the geoid agrees with the mean sea surface, more
precisely, with a calm ocean surface subjected only to the force of gravity, which is
assumed
Sex, Gender, And Gender
The meaning of sex and gender is often thought of as the same thing, when in fact it
the meanings between these two words are different. Sex is the characteristics that
are set apart from male and female. The characteristics include primary sex traits
related to the reproductive system such as: hormones, chromosomes, the genitalia,
and various other ways. However, the secondary sex traits that are not directly based
on the reproductive system. These secondary traits consist of characteristics such as:
breasts, facial hair, body structure, and many more. Genderis known as the way
people act and feel about masculinity and femininity. Gender is what people use as a
way to identify themselves. Gender is what society considers suitable for its males
and females.
To begin with, while growing up I was mostly associated with girls, the reason for
this was because there was no boys in our family that was around our age. My
parents helped shaped my gender role by the toys and other various activities they
involved me in. For instance, when I was about three years old my mom enrolled
my siblings and I into a ballet dance studio. After being dressed up in an all pink
outfit with my hair done in a little bun, I felt like I belonged there. My mom had
always dressed my siblings and I in bright and colorful clothing. My siblings and I
were allowed to express and interact in different activities despite if they were
feminine or masculine. However, as I have grown up and became more aware of

Murcutt. Nestled into a gentle slope in the coastal landscape of Bingie Point New
South Wales, Magney House is a considered response to the client brief and a
demonstration of Murcutt s design philosophy to touch this earth lightly . Murcutt s
understanding of the unique ecological, climatic and geological characteristics of the
site has culminated in a skilfully orchestrated architectural system that fosters a strong
connection to the natural world and immerses occupants within the landscape.
Completed in 1984, the house was designed as a family holiday retreat that replicated
the camping experience that the family had enjoyed on the site for many years. The
clients desire for the building to connect with nature and minimise intervention within
the landscape aligns with Murcutt s design ethos and formed the basis of a
productive working relationship. Murcutt s understanding of the client s needs is
beautifully expressed with the plan, accommodating the parents need for retreat from
children and guests through the creation of two separate social zones connected by a
communal space that brings the occupants together. The deceptively simple plan
reveals a sophisticated organisational strategy to delineate the living and services
areas. A circulation spine running the length of the pavilion is subtly employed with
a serial progression of doors that incites movement. The identification of a circulation

Communism is defined, according to dictionary.com, as a theory or system of

system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is

Thomas Jefferson believed that the government was to be powerless to interfere with
religious expressions because he had long witnessed the unhealthy tendency of
government to encroach upon the free exercise of religion (wallbuilders.com). Both
communism and public schools are incompatible with the religious faith. The
Communist Party specifies a definite code of conduct for its members. A person
who does not follow the commandments of religion, but follows the directions of
the party, cannot call himself a religious person if he follows the directions of the

they are not allowed to start their days off with prayer. Even moments of silence

Arthur Leander s Station Eleven
The nature of one s history has an inevitable effect on their future. In many cases, the
forthcoming situations that one faces are based on recollections of the past and their
interpretation of it. Within the novel, Station Eleven, author Emily St. John Mandel
develops a plethora of characters whose pastactions and memories have a
considerable effect on their future. This is exemplified through the impact that
Arthur s turmoil lifestyle has on him as he ages, Tyler s development of
radicalistic beliefs due to his exposure towards profound ideology from a very
young age, along with Kirsten s change in perspective and formation of interests
due to prior actions and memories. Throughout his acting career, Arthur Leander s
dramatic lifestyle as well as series of tumultuous events impact him greatly. As
decades go by, Arthur s previous affairs reshape his mentality for the future. His
fame results in a substantial lack of privacy, and after years of encountering such
exposure to the public, his sole desire is to be left in peace. Despite this, during the
opening years of his acting career, Arthur is desperate for his first glimpse of fame
and wants to be famous (St. John Mandel, 110). As his career progresses, this desire
begins to vanish due to his loss of personal privacy; largely due to the media. Arthur

The Ban Of Full Veils
France has recently been enforcing their ban of full face veils in public places. The
government claims it is for public safety, however, others feel it is the result of
Islamophobia . Regardless of their reasoning, they are infringing on basic human
rights. Most people believe that the ability to worship as they choose is a right given
to them, not by any government, but by their deity. However in Venissieux, France a
ban on the wearing of full veils in public places was formalized on April 15th, 2011.
Thus, making it the first European country to violate what is, to some Muslims, an
important religious conviction. Although the police cannot legally remove full veils,
they are encouraged to punish those who continue to wear them with fines or
required citizenship lessons. The new laws are a direct attack on Islamic culture,
allowing the French government to strip its citizens of their history, their identity, and
worst of all, of their ability to worship as their scriptures tells them to.
The Quran, the Muslim holy text, commands both women and men to dress in a
modest way to show their dedication and reverence for God. Some Islamic tradition
and law states that the definition of modesty for a Muslim woman is covering
everything except the face and hands in public. This idea is defended by the texts of
Fiqh, which deal with the observance of rituals, morals and social legislation in Islam.
These texts were developed after the revelation of the Quran. While the Fiqh is not
Holden Caulfield s The Catcher s The Rye
Are 50 s teens able to survive the hurtful but unavoidable transition of becoming a
grown up as they struggle with the changes that come along with it?
JD. Salinger s 1951 book, The Catcher in the Rye, shows us how society treated their
confused and changing teenagers during their transition into adulthood. The book s
main character Holden Caulfield is being pressured into growing up even though he
doesn t feel ready, to lead an adult life. He is still struggling socially and mourning
for his deceased brother whose death turned Holden upside down and into a negative,
hopeless person from a young age, which causes him to be distracted, indifferent and
to flunk every school he goes to.
Therefore, Holden Caulfield seems to be dealing with a world that is forcing him to
change his ways and grow up because of his age while he struggles with his past,
present and future, in this JD Salinger classic.
Thesis Statement Brainstorm:
1 Salinger s main character Holden, is seen to be struggling with his past, present and
future in The Catcher in the Rye.
2 Holden is seen to be having unspecified negative thoughts about growing up
throughout JD Salinger s famous The Catcher in the Rye.
3 JD Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye s main character Holden Caulfield seems to
be dealing with a world that forces him to change his ways because of his age and
what it s expected from him while he is struggling with his past, present and future.

Dharavi Stereotypes
Dharavi produces one million dollars in goods per day. Considering what a small
area this tiny piece of Mumbai, this is an impressive fact. This is a fact that
resonated with me yet astounded me because of my own preconceived stereotypes
of a slum. Thinking of a slum I immediately assuming this also meant this was a
community with a lack of jobs, unemployable people, and lazy unwilling
individuals. I couldn t have been proven more wrong. As shown in the film,
Dharavi is a tiny one square mile packed with factories and businesses.
Employment opportunities are plentiful and the residents are very hardworking and
dedicated to their trades. Eighty five percent of residents are employed. A wide
range of jobs are found along the failing brick roads. Bread bakers, seamstresses,
ragpickers, Rickshaw drivers, factory workers all exist in such a small poverty
stricken community.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One would also assume that the children of Dharavi are also uneducated. However,
within that one square mile there are twelve schools. Assumptions are made about
the people who live within a slum are lazy unemployed people. Babu, an employee
in the recycling industry, proved just how wrong that stereotype is. Ten to Fourteen
hour days are an everyday occurrence, bending, picking, and separating the
abundance of garbage overflow that pours into the streets and consumes portions of
his community. Manual labor in an environment that radiates a horrendous stench
and is filled with biohazards and dangerous chemicals and many other unknown
items is a daily ritual just to earn a meager wage. This film proved that not all
stereotypes are facts. The people of Dharavi are far from lazy or unemployable. The
many trades are as unique as the people that work
Identity Theft Essay
The internet has become a part of every day life, in fact for many it is their life. You
can meet other people, play games, do research, communicate with loved ones half
way across the country, and now you can even shop and bank online.
You can buy anything from baby food to prescription drugs on the internet and it will
be delivered in a timely fashion to your front door. No line, no commute time, no
annoying shoppers and no incompetent sales persons.
Banking online is a recently developed convenience. How often do you forget to pay
your bills? With online banking your bills are paid on time. You also have immediate
access to your bank statements updated by the minute.
It sounds almost too good to be true and it is, sort of. ... Show more content on

I also am assuming that most internet users regularly check their banks policies on
how to protect themselves.
I believe that with the right information and tools identity theft on the internet would
not be as large of a problem that it has grown into today.
Phishing is the newest type of internet theft and could be the most dangerous!
1% to 20% of those attacked by Phishing scams become victims. Phishers uses
fraudulent E mails and web sites that are so close to the real thing that many
consumers are fooled by the copied images, links and texts that are often from the
legitimate web site that the consumer thinks they are visiting. The Phishers are after
your personal information; usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, home
addresses, social security number, pretty much anything that can help open false
accounts or empty your already existing accounts.
What To Do If You Think You are a Victim
First Contact your bank, your credit card company(s) and any other financial
institution you are affiliated with and let them know that you think you are a victim.
Second Contact one of the three major credit bureaus who will be able to work with
you to find a solution.

Mexican Independence
Mexican Independence In New Spain, the Bourbon monarchies in 1808 1810
encouraged some creoles leaders to strike for total independence under the cover of
Ferdinand. On July 1808, Napoleon s capture of Charles the VI and Ferdinand the
VII, and capture of Spain reached Mexico causing intense debate between Mexican
elites. Creoles and Peninsulars prepared to take power and ensure their group would
have power over the other; New Spain, like other Spanish colonies, went through the
crisis of the Bourbon monarchy from 1808 1810. Yet, in Mexicowhat pushed for
independence from Spain would be the elite s race for power.
The creoles were the first to take action. The Mexico City cabildo called on the
viceroy to summon an assembly. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was followed by a long period of war at the Siege of Cuautla. Morelos military
efforts were hampered by differences with fractious civilian allies and by his
decision to establish a representative government at a time. In 1815, Morelos was
captured by Spanish colonial authorities, tried and executed for treason in San
CristГіbal Ecatepec on 22 December.
After ten years of civil war and the death of two of its founders, by early 1820 the
independence movement was stalemated and close to collapse. The rebels faced
stiff Spanish military resistance and the apathy of many of the most influential
criollos. The violent excesses and populist zeal of Hidalgo s and Morelos s irregular
armies had reinforced many criollos fears of race and class warfare, ensuring their
grudging acquiescence to conservative Spanish rule until a less bloody path to
independence could be found. It was at this juncture that the machinations of a
conservative military caudillo coinciding with a successful liberal rebellion in Spain,
made possible a radical realignment of the proindependence forces. Vicente Guerror,
planned to combine independence, monarchy, the supremacy of the Roman Catholic
Church, and the civil equality of the creoles and peninsulares.

A person that is diagnosed with LPD disorder may find themselves having difficulty learning grammar, sentence structure, comprehending what is being read or said (making sense of what being told) in a given language. The disorder may involve the form of language (phonology, syntax, and morphology), its content or meaning (semantics), or its use (pragmatics), in any combination (American Speech Language Hearing Association 1993) . • 6. Lack Friends And Family Keith Cutlip Mrs. McBurney Senior english 15 November 2017 Family and friends play an important role in everyone s lives. Family can be parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends that were made in school or in a neighborhood. Both family and friends serve as a support system to have fun with, share experiences with, and get through life with. Spending time with loved ones leads to feeling included, happy, and part of something bigger. However, sometimes a job, homework, and other events get in the way and individuals are unable to be included in family gatherings. On the other hand, sometimes people do not have the skills to make friends throughout life or their friends have abandoned them because of their own life decisions. Therefore, lacking friends and family time causes negative effects including stress, exclusion, and depression which lead to a miserable, meaningless life. A teenager in high school may be used to spending time with family after school everyday and seeing friends on the weekend. The student feels the effect of stress from getting hired for a part time job at a retail store and works twenty five hours a week. Constantly busy; they lose the extra time to spend with loved ones that they previously had. Now, the stress from working with the public and helping customers while balancing homework and everyday life weighs heavy on a teen. They have no time to express their stress with family or friends and the pressure builds up. Morrie explains

  • 8. Individualism And Ralph Waldo Emerson Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American poet during the 1800 s who identified himself as a Transcendentalist. Self Reliance is one of Emerson s most famous works that is widely known and was published after his death in 1882. Emerson s works influenced other writers like Henry David Thoreau who was a close friend of Emerson. Resistance to Civil Government is one of Thoreau s most famous works. Although Emerson influenced Thoreau with his works and they were close friends, both of them had two different ideas on the individuality of humans and their way of life. Emerson believed that individuals conform to society and others when they should follow their own way of life, instincts, and ideas. Thoreau thought less towards society and more towards the government. He believed that individual conscience is more important than an unjust government and the laws they created. Self Reliance is an essay on the lack of individualism in a person in society and the reasons behind why individuals do not think for themselves. He states that because of our consciousness of how others will react towards us is one of the reasons we do not think for ourselves and let our individuality show. We but half express ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of us represents, (Emerson 1164). As humans, we only show a few of our emotions or hardly explain how we feel to others because we feel ashamed of our emotions and our thoughts. He does not say it, but mostly anyone who

Looking at it from this standpoint, we can say physical education will have meaning when all of these factors are contributed and put together. We have to work together to implement physical education in the schools, but it will all be worth it in the long run (France, 2011, p.51). Staff, as stated from the article written by Huberty, is a big part of a school s physical educationprogram. • 14. Underestimated Due With An Inadequate Surveillance System underestimated due to an inadequate surveillance system. Though this was partially a result of basic failures of the surveillance system (such as a lack of timely reporting and a lack of laboratory confirmation or serotyping), it was also due to a lack of economic interest. In the 1990s, increases in tourism (driven by cruise ship lines, etc.) stimulated interest in identifying and preventing outbreaks, which could be bad publicity and thus economically devastating. Likewise, although Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) has ravaged communities in West Africa since the 1970s, only recently has the disease captured the attention of Western mass media (CDC, Outbreaks, 2014). Then, a study method is chosen (here, a retrospective case control study) to determine risk factor and more. Data is collected and assessed to aid officials in introducing measures to prevent the spread and correct the behavior that causes it (ranging from improper egg handling to improper farming techniques). A case study outline for EHF would begin similarly. EHF has its origins in the jungle, but it is still key to identify a source. After a source is found, all contacts must be identified. Thus, we see that the case study for EHF is more human centric. A case control study would be the practical study design, as it is less intensive and less expensive. Treating EHF requires a large amount of money and resources (medical personnel, PPE, etc.). In contrast, individuals with salmonellosis require adequate fluids to heal and little else. A salmonellosis outbreak would have a case study outline very similar to that of a norovirus outbreak. One major difference is person to person transmission is possible with norovirus but not

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of lens B, a convex lens, clearly demonstrated the convergence of a real image on the white screen. Joining together lenses A and B and calculating their joined focal length provided an opportunity to compare the results to their predicted focal length based on the individual values of A and B using the equation 1f1+ 1f2 = 1feff . The results were fairly close. Joining together lenses B and C combined a converging with a diverging lens and provided an opportunity to calculate the location of a virtual image formed by a concave lens. The focal length of the joined lenses was about double the focal point of the individual converging lens. This makes sense as rays entering the converging lens are not parallel rays entering the lens from the normal, but are diverging rays entering at obtuse angle. The angle exiting the converging lens is at a wider angle than rays entering from the parallel, and this causes the real image to be focused further out. The focal length value for lens C is a negative number. This is characteristic of diverging lenses and the focal point refers to the location of a virtual image behind the lens. Error Analysis: Percentage errors were calculated using the equation: predetermined value experimental valuepredetermined value x 100 The percentage error for the difference between the measured focal length and the calculated focal length
  • 17. Saturation And Synthesis Essay Discussion When the degree of saturation О© is equal to one, the system is at equilibrium. When О© is greater than one, precipitation should occur because the solution is saturated in ions with respect to the solid mineral form. The data show that gypsum should have started precipitating between sample 1 and sample 2 collection time, because this is when the degree of saturation moves to beyond 1. The peak saturation for gypsum occurs between sample 3 and sample 4, and decreases afterwards. This decrease is most likely caused by the decrease in available ions after gypsum continued to precipitate through the experiment, leaving fewer calcium and sulfate ions to contribute to the degree of saturation. Fyodor Dostoevsky is renowned as one of the world s greatest novelists, being born in Moscow, Russia in 1821. Dostoevsky s early view of the world was shaped by his experience of social injustice. • 24. Violence and Its Forms Violence was, and remains today, a versatile concept in theatre. Violence is something we desire to see as an audience, yet simultaneously a majority of people would never commit the atrocities found in Macbeth. There exists a thin line between acceptable violence and violence that turns an audience away from sympathizing with a character. In this essay we will evaluate the differences between the various forms of violence found within Macbeth, and analyze why the audience can accept some acts of violence, while deeming others inhumane. The clearest breeds of violence found in the play are; war violence, law breaking violence, sociopathic violence, and descriptive violence. Shakespeare places these different forms of violence... No boasting like a fool. (IV.i.1726 1733) Macbeth addresses the difference between fantasy and actuality. Shakespeare may have been suggesting that it is a human element to have demons for daydreams and that it is part of the human consciousness to fantasize horrible acts such as murdering for power, but that it is only unheavenly violence when these thoughts are acted upon. War violence is the most publically accepted form of violence. Macbeth is introduced as a courageous man because he was able to win the war for the Scottish. For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name Disdaining fortune, with his brandish d steel, Which smoked with bloody execution, Like valour s minion carved out his passage Till he faced the slave; Which ne er shook hands, nor bade farewell to him, Till he unseam d him from the nave to the chaps, And fix d his head upon our battlements. (I.ii.35 42) The play Macbeth is introduced with violence, but unlike the violence that follows this battle, the future gore is unacceptable. Macbeth is explained to have cut a man from his navel to his jaw, and then place his head on a castle wall. As violent as this is, it is the only act Macbeth does in the entire play that is noble. • 25. An Analysis Of Poetry Explication In One Art Poetry Explication Essay One Art In the villanelle One Art written by Elizabeth Bishop, the poem dramatizes the conflict between the speaker wanting to let go of the things that she has lost, but has a hard time doing so. This poem is worded in a way and tone that gives a heartbreaking effect to the reader as the speaker discusses what she has lost and how [t]he art of losing isn t hard to master (Line 1, and also others). As the poem progresses, it is revealed that the speaker is unsure about letting go and has a challenging time with it. The persona who Elizabeth Bishop presents in the poem On Art brings to the reader the idea that [t]he art of losing isn t hard to master (1). Trying to not to miss these things, she goes on to express how so many things seem filled with the intent/ to be lost (2 3). Things were made to be lost, which from a reader s point of view can be compared to how humans are made to eventually die. As the speaker continues, she explains what some of the things that she has lost are. These include; lost door keys, wasting time away, places she wished to visit, her dreams, people, her mother s watch, places she s been, and finally, you (16), whom the speaker is telling this all to. This poem expresses the idea that things lost are often times hard to let go of, even when it does not seem the case. Though the poem states throughout the first 5 out of 6 stanzas, [t]he art of losing isn t hard to master (1), by the 6th stanza, the reader can see that the persona whom the poet has created starts to doubt and question herself. This is shown through the use of changing the specific poem form. The last stanza has 4 lines as the rest have only 3. The poet consciously bended the rules of a villanelle poem to give a certain effect of heartbreak and change. This allows the reader to understand how the speaker realizes that she is having a harder time moving on from what she had hoped to master, the art to not feel sorry for herself when things become lost. This is shown when the repetitive line now becomes the art of losing s not too hard to master/ though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster (18 19). It is not made clear the exact speaker of the poem. The

America Vote Act ( Hava ) I was surprised to discover that voter identification began in 1950 when South Carolina became the first state to request some form of identification from voters at the polling precincts. Then Hawaii followed in 1970, Texas in 1971, Florida in 1977, and Alaska in 1980. Some of them asked for an ID with a photo, while others asked for any type of document with or without a photo; all provided other means for people to vote if they couldn t present identification. By 2000, fourteen states were asking for voter identification documents ( Voter ID ). That year, we had a highly disputed presidential election. Following its outcome, the United States Congress passed the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) in 2002, which ushered in comprehensive election reform. Under the law, states are required to follow mandatory minimum standards that included implementing new programs and procedures such as provisional voting; voting information and voter education; upgraded, tested and certified voting technology; statewide voter registration list; voter identification procedures; and an improved election administration system ( Help America Vote Act ). The Commission on Federal Election Reform advocated similar propositions in their 2005 report (69 70). Consequently, voter ID laws were enacted around the country. The laws require eligible voters to produce government issued identification before casting a countable ballot at the polls. Voter identification, categorized between strict and

In addition, the degeneracy of the individual and society at large was represented in numerous contemporary works by Mann. In Death in Venice, the theme of decadence caused by aestheticism appears through Gustav von Achenbach s eccentric, specifically homoerotic, feelings towards a Polish boy named Tadzio. Although his feelings spring from a sound source, the boy s aesthetic beauty, Aschenbach becomes decadent in how excessively zealous his feelings are, and his obsession ultimately leads to his literal and existential destruction. The farther he went, the more tortured he was by the dreadful alliance of sirocco and sea air a condition that both agitates and enervates. He sweated painfully. His eyes blurred, his chest tightened, he was feverish, the blood pounded in his temples...wiping his forehead, he realized he had to find a different vacation spot. This idea is a strong instance of aestheticism interacting with decadence in the sense that Venice originally represented to Aschenbach, beauty and renewal. His trip was supposed to refresh him as an author and an aging man but instead he reached a land that, although aesthetically pleasing, was dirty, crowded, and repugnant. The last moments before Aschenbach slipped into complete decadence, his object of adoration was not enough for him to suffer for. He packed his bags and said his good bye s to both the boy and the city that had twice made him ill, prepared to leave. Misdirected baggage was the practical reason for his remaining in Venice but as Aschenbach gazed adoringly at his idol he admits to himself that it was Tadzio, the embodiment of youthful beauty, who had made it so difficult for him to leave. At this point in the narrative it becomes clear that quite literally Tadzio is a representative of the aesthetic muse that Aschenbach, being an artist, was searching for. From this point

There is one bill that would help solve the problem of illegal immigrants not being able to advance their education. This bill is the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act or the DREAM Act. The DREAM Act applies to immigrant teenagers who arrived to the U.S. as a child, graduated from a U.S. high school, and lived in the U.S. for at least five years. These people would have an opportunity to gain a conditional permanent residency and eventual citizenship. The DREAM Act is a plausible solution to solve this problem that illegal immigrants face. The DREAM Act provides relief for immigrants who cannot afford to pay the out of state or international fees for college tuition. There are certain conditions that are in effect to limit the number of immigrants eligible for this act. The conditions are that the student will have to take a temporary six year residency and within those six years, he/she would have to either be in a two year bachelor s degree program in college or serve in the Military or any of its affiliates for two years (Nick section 3). In the US, alien minors can only obtain permanent residency through their parents. If their parents came to the US illegally, there is no possible way they can achieve this. Even if they decide to go back to their country of origin, they cannot get a documented status nor could they come back to the US for ten years. The DREAM Act

  • 33. The Science Of Determination The Figure Of The Earth CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Research Background: Geodesy is considered, according to Bruns (1878) and Helmert (1884), as the science of determination the figure of the earth as well as its gravitational field. This covers the basic general form of the earth as a flattened rotational ellipsoid and the visible topographic surface resulted from gravitational attraction of uneven inner masses. Thus, physical and geometric aspects are inseparably correlated (Moritz 2015). In geodesy, the figure of the earth refers to the figure extracted physically or mathematically from the true surface of the earth (Moritz 1990). This includes the geoid and the reference ellipsoid along with the normal ellipsoid. While the geoid can be interpreted as the physical figure of the earth, the reference ellipsoid can be considered as the mathematical figure of the earth, and the normal ellipsoid can be considered as the mathematical and physical figure of the earth. However, the reference ellipsoid and the normal ellipsoid are a close approximation of the geoid. Hence, the figure of the earth studied in geodesy mainly refers to the figure of the geoid (Lu et al. 2014). Geoid is defined as an equipotential surface of the earth s gravity potential, where the mean surface of the oceans particularly forms a part (Hofmann Wellenhof and Moritz 2005). On oceans, the geoid agrees with the mean sea surface, more precisely, with a calm ocean surface subjected only to the force of gravity, which is assumed
