This divides power among state governments and federal governments which can be subdivided
among distinct and separate departments. When the U.S. only consisted of 13 states, they did
not get along very well. States varied in things such as history, geography, population, economy,
and politics and rarely ever agreed on even the simplest of matters. Each and every state wanted
to take control and be able to make treaties, receive ambassadors, coin money, and regulate
commerce, but unfortunately were not able to. Due to a weak central government, congress was
able to negotiate peace and declare war but was not able to raise taxes to afford these things.

This gave each state one vote in congress and changes to the articles needed majority consent.
After the American Revolutionary War ended in 1783, the same issues began to arise yet again
and the country was on the verge of falling apart. The states could not agree on how to pay

In Survey I, 91.9% of the participants reported that they have cheated on at least one homework
assignment; however, when asked why they receive answers, 13.5% of the participants stated that
they do not receive answers (Appendix D). Therefore, it can be concluded that some students
believe that cheating on homework assignments is not considered as immoral. This may further
explain why students cheat.
Furthermore, 91.9% of students reported cheating at least once, albeit 51.4% of students stating
that it s bothersome when others cheat (Appendix D). This is due to self serving bias, which is
when people blame other individuals when their action negatively affects them, while they blame
the situation when their act negatively affects others (Boyes, 2013). For example, if someone gets
into a car accident, one automatically assumes that person is a bad driver, while if one gets into a
car accident himself, one will find excuses and say it was not their own fault. Similarly, when a
student cheats in high school, they find reasons to justify that action, even when they know it is
wrong, which is the case with 62.2% of students in this survey (Appendix D). However, when
another student cheats in the same class, it is bothersome to some students because they see it as
unfair and disrespectful on the student s part.
Moreover, 24.3% of students reported that they cheat because they want to help their friends out

Diving into Change The fictional novel entitled That Summer was written by author, Sarah

The ones I sympathize with When I read The Pact , I felt some connection between the
characters; Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Hunt Rameck. Throughout their hardship and
struggles, It encouraged me to read on. But as I continued reading on, the three main characters
stood out the most. But out of those three characters, one stood out in particular. Throughout his
experiences and trials, I could see myself in that situation. In how he felt, in the manner in how
he saw things around, I could see how I would have done the same thing myself. Dr. Hunt is
someone I could relate to, someone I could see becoming friends with. There was a few
encounters that I have had that is similar to Hunt s experiences. If I had a bad grade, I had a butt
whuppin coming. Feeling pressure of doing something criminal just to impress some people that
I wasn t ever close to or even consider calling them friend. Being lovesick for someone, wanting
them back. Have her but letting her go because of school and home complications. But the one

School Board Meeting
The school board meeting I attended was the Norris School District. The meeting was located at
Norris Middle School in the Mary Louise Robinson Library. The address was 6940 Calloway Dr.
at seven PM. The Norris school district contains four elementary schools and one middle school.
Total number of elected board members are five. The board president is Cy Silver. They meet
once a month on the second Wednesday. The board is required to address the reports from
superintendent and staff. Such as enrollment, district proposition 39 California clean energy job
acts funding, district cafeteria report, local control accountability plan progress report. They also
discuss new business such as approving budgets and achievements. The general format of the
meeting is the board members sit in the front of the general attendees and the president sits in the
middle of all the board members. Staff members sit to the right and left of the board members. The
atmosphere was very welcoming, and they spoke of the business like they actually cared. They
spent about one hour discussing the cafeteria report. I thought this was quite interesting. They care
that the kids are not eating, and want to make a plan to buy better food that the kids will actually eat.
Ninety percent of all the board members, staff, and attendees were white. There is nothing wrong
with that, but it just proves what the textbook mentions. It was a huge comparison than when I
attended a school district meeting in a poverty district. It is different because there was parents
attending the meeting in Norris, and the business they discuss is different as well. All of the
members were friendly and respectful with each other. There has to be more diversity in all of the
districts. They talked about cafeteria food for an hour, it seems surprising to me because I could
only wish all of the school districts biggest concern would be what the kids
