Movie Comparison Essay
Crafting a "Movie Comparison Essay" can be a challenging endeavor that demands a keen eye
for detail, analytical skills, and the ability to draw meaningful connections between different
cinematic works. The complexity arises from the need to delve into the intricacies of each film,
understand their themes, character development, cinematography, and narrative structure.
Firstly, one must meticulously watch and analyze each movie, taking note of key elements that
contribute to their uniqueness. This includes the plot twists, character arcs, symbolism, and the
overall atmosphere created by the filmmakers. After this, it becomes crucial to identify
commonalities and differences, drawing comparisons in a way that sheds light on the distinct
artistic choices made by the directors.
The challenge intensifies when attempting to synthesize these observations into a coherent and
insightful essay. Striking a balance between analysis and personal interpretation while avoiding
plot summaries requires finesse. Additionally, providing evidence to support comparisons, such
as specific scenes or dialogues, adds another layer of complexity.
Moreover, it is essential to maintain a clear and logical structure throughout the essay. This
involves organizing thoughts in a way that guides the reader through the comparison, making
sure that each point contributes to the overall thesis. Transitioning smoothly between movies and
ideas requires careful consideration to avoid confusion.
In conclusion, crafting a "Movie Comparison Essay" demands a significant investment of time,
critical thinking, and writing skills. However, the rewards are worth the effort, as it allows for a
deep exploration of cinematic artistry and fosters a nuanced understanding of the chosen films.
For those seeking assistance with similar essays or other writing projects, various resources,

My visit on the 15/12/14 at the Croydon magistrate court was to observe the court
proceedings and how the civil and criminal justices system operates in England and
wales. Also how magistrates and judges decides cases and why they arrived at
certain decision. I arrived earlier in court pass the security checks and went in the
court office and explain my purposed of visit. I attended court number eleven which
was very busy with cases that day. Court commence at exactly ten in the morning, the

After reading the charges against the defendant, the presiding magistrates ask the
defendant if he understanding the charges against him. And also if he is going to
plead guilty or not guilty. In this cases the defendant entered into an early plea of all
the charges against him.
Early plea in any cases in the UK and Wales is very significant. One it quick, it s save

first consult the court assistance and in sentencing the magistrate has to consider the
guide line sentencing council 2010. Because of this cases is an early plea case, the
magistrate has to consider the gravity of the case and the circumstances of the
accuser. In carrying out the sentencing the judge told the defendant that the offence he
committed was enough to send him to prison, but because he pleaded guilty he will
reduce his sentence to twenty months of not drinking any vehicles in the United
Kingdom and Wales he should also be given two years probation period. In this time
he should not committed any crime or be seen in any crime scene. He will be arrested
and send to jail if he break his probation rules. Normally in this types of case the
defendant should have been sentence to at least six months in prison but because of
the early plea and the circumstance of the defendant that makes the magistrates to
give him lesser sentences. Another very important thing in this cases was, this is the

Applied Behavior Analysis Essay
Applied behavior analysis, or ABA therapy, is a tool that helps children, especially
those with autism, succeed in daily life. ABA applies basic behavioral practices,
including positive reinforcement, teaching in small steps, prompting, and repeated
practice, to facilitate the development of a child s language, social interactions,
independent living skills, and other aptitudes.
Originated by the scientific principles of Dr. B.F. Skinner in the 1960s, ABA methods
gained popularity treating children with autism in the 1980s because the therapy
works. Based on decades of research, (Read the research) ABA is proven to be the
most effective method to teach children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum
Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. ... Show more content on

The team then creates measurable goals that address the triggering factors with the
purpose of reducing maladaptive behavior, even if it s complex, and promoting
adaptive behavior.
During therapy sessions, the therapist breaks objectives into small goals, offers
positive support, includes prompts, and promotes practice. Families also receive
training so they can use the same techniques at home. Over time, the therapist collects
data, tweaks the goals and helps the child master each step and build on their
achievements, a strategy that improves overall success.
While there are varying applications of Applied Behavior Analysis, Invo Behavior

implementing the core methodologies of Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA

The Language Of Oppression
Language is common in the world it is the way humans communicate and relate to
things with one another.Language is a powerful tool in the world because it can give
power to people and can be used to manipulate through renaming people, stereotyping
a person and using a euphemistic approach in addressing a person.
Language influence can be witnessed in Haig Bosmajian book The Language Of
Oppression where the essay shares how language can be used to manipulate Names.
Names can be used to bring value or degradation to people. The degradation of human
beings can lead to a loss of self belief and devaluation of an individual. A most

What are the similarities and differences between the political systems in U.K and
U.S?
When the U.S. Constitution was being drafted, its writers had the British
Parliamentary system to base on. The British system was the system they were used
to and had learnt since childhood. However, because the monarchy was one of the
main things that the former colonists had rebelled against, any form of monarchy and
most forms of concentrated power were avoided.
The most fundamental difference between the political system in the U.K and the
U.S is the constitution. The United States has a written constitution which is very
difficult to change. The UK does not have a single document called the constitution
but instead its constitutional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Upper House
The United States has a Senate as the upper house of the legislative branch and the
U.K. has the House of Lords. Under the U.S. system, each state, regardless of size,
has two senators. Originally, senators were appointed by the governor of the state
they represented but they are now elected to serve six year terms. The House of
Lords is very different. Members of the House of Lords are not elected. The 792
members of the House of Lords are members by inheritance, appointment or their
rank in the Church of England; they are not elected and cannot be removed by vote.
This part of the political system in the U.K is not democratic. Otherwise the House
of Lords serve the same purpose as the U.S. Senate. They discuss, debate and vote on
legislation passed by the lower house of the legislative branch.
The Lower House
The U.S. House of Representatives and the British House of Commons have a great
deal in common. Each house is made up of representatives elected by the people. In
both systems control of the lower house goes to the party that has the most seats.
Under the U.K. system, the leader of the party with the most seats becomes the Prime
Minister and the official head of the government. Under the U.S. system this person
would be the Speaker of the House. One other key difference is elections. Under the
parliamentary system, the prime minister can go to the crown at any point and ask to
dissolve Parliament. If this is done an election

Creating Equal Groups Of The Classroom Essay
To introduce the concept of division, I will have the students take out their
notebooks and title their pages division fact families. I will ask the students to tell
me what they think that division means, and after some discussion, I will ask them
to write that division is used to share equally or create equal groups. I will ask the
students to give me some examples of when they needed to create equal groups of
something. I will provide an example of Halloween candy bags, and making sure
that each bag has the same amount in order to be fair. I will choose a few students
to share. Next twelve students will be asked to come to the front of the room.
They will be asked to physically create three equal groups. The rest of the class will
be asked how groups do we have? (3) and how many students are in each group?
(4). Then I will write the multiplication fact 3 x 4 = 12. The students will be asked
to make one group again, then to physically create four equal groups. Once they do
this, I will ask the same two questions to the class, how many groups do we have?
(4) and how many students are in each group? (3). Then I will write the
multiplication fact 4 x 3 = 12 on the board below the other fact. Those students will
sit down, and new students will come to the front of the room. I will ask them to
stand in one group, then form three groups. I will write 12Г·3=4 on the board. Then
I will ask them to form one group again, then to make 4 equal groups, and I will write

Picked to Work on A Secret Project
Nicholas Boyster was one of eight scientists the government had handpicked to
work on their newest secret project. Only being in his early twenties, Boyster was
practically a child compared to the other scientists, none of them younger then
forty. Boyster s young age was not the only thing the other scientists disliked about
him, just the most official one. His general appearance fell far short of meeting
their approval, too. Boyster s dark hair hung down to his shoulders, often looking
as if it had never seen a brush before. In the eyes of the others only short, neat hair
befitted a person of their standing. After all, only the best were handpicked for
government projects. Last but not least were Boyster s clothes, he wore faded jeans
and t shirts instead of the suit pants and dress shirts the others donned every day. The
dislike was definitely mutual though. Boyster thought all the other scientists were
stuffy old geezers, who had long lost the love for the job and were now just going
through the motions. And his immediate boss was the worst of all. Mr. Bright was
very set in his ways, never budging even an inch. The other scientists opinions and
ideas didn t matter at all; his word was law. On their first day of work together he
had set up a strict set of rules he expected everyone to adhere to. It had taken
Boyster a total of five minutes to break the first one: /Never contradict me/ Boyster
had just meant to tell Mr. Bright that the little glass jars would not be able
Burning American Flag Persuasive Essay
Whether someone is watching the news or simply flipping through their social media
pages, one thing they will certainly see is protesting of some kind. Recently, the first
thing that these protestors want to do it set fire to the American flag. Why would
they do this? Why would they burn a symbol of the freedom they are using to
demonstrate their frustrations? Burning the American flag is wrong not only legally
but also ethically and therefore should not be protected under freedom of speech.
When asked why, most protestors who want to burn the American flag respond with
an answer such as it s our first amendment right. Even though the U. S. Supreme
court ruled that burning the American flag is protected under the first amendment
right to freedom of expression, the reality is that it is against the law to desecrate
the American flag. According to 18 U.S. Code В§ 700 Whoever knowingly
mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or
tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or
imprisoned for not more than one year, or both. This clearly shows that the
legislative branch saw that is was wrong to burn the American flag.
While the judicial branch said, in United States v. Eichman, the Supreme Court once
again ruled that burning the flag was an example of constitutionally protected free
speech (Rothman) they made it clear that no person can be legally charged under this
code it doesn t change that fact

symbolises the adage that success comes to those who dream big and then work
assiduously to deliver it. Sunil Bharti Mittal began his journey manufacturing spare
parts for bicycles in the late 1970s. His strong entrepreneurial instincts gave him a
unique flair for sensing new business opportunities. In the early years, Bharti

Specific laws vary greatly from state to state, depending on the age of the rider and
in what seat he or she is sitting.
The seatbelt laws are in a lot of different states and there is a variety of people that
could die from not wearing it all the time. A lot of people in New Hampshire are a
lot of adults and there are hardly any kids there that may actually get hurt as much as
they do in Tennessee and some of the states may actually have a Primary seat belt law

states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana
Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands have primary seat belt laws.
19 states have secondary laws. New Hampshire has enacted neither a primary nor a
secondary seat belt law for adults, although the state does have a primary child
passenger safety law that covers children under 18.
States with secondary enforcement average only 63 percent belt use. But states with
primary (standard) enforcement belt laws average 78 percent belt use. When asked
whether they support primary enforcement laws laws that give law enforcement the
authority to stop and ticket an unbuckled occupant, just as they do other routine

My Reflection On How Grit Is The Ability Of An Individual
Grit is the ability of an individual to persevere over obstacles and their goals,
especially through a long period of time. In this essay. I will talk about my grades,
ability to stick up for what I believe in, and my growth mindset versus my fixed
mindset. I believe I have an average balance of growth and fixed mindset, however,
I would like to strengthen my growth and grit mindset. I will have to work on this
and connect it to my school work as i will state in my essay. Many educators, and
researchers believe there is a struggle to balance morals and grit, with concrete
school work. My essay will define my line of this balance Every student has their

As students, our habits are embedded in us, then once we are out of school, we are
told habits are bad. If the period between twenty and thirty is the critical one in the
formation of intellectual and professional habits, the period below twenty is more
important still for fixing the personal habits (James 9). Instead of having students
create studying habits, and learning habits in school, the education system should
have gratuitous exercises, that deny habits of sitting down in the same desks every
day, doing the same homework packets, and should have us thinking about what we
learned instead of: Learn, repeat, take test, forget . Our learning is a habit of
memorizing instead of soaking in the information. Grit is strengthening your
character, being able to resolve problems, and never giving up. From Angela
Duckworth s speech about true grit; The common traits of 300 geniuses include:
tendency not to abandon tasks from mere changeability. Not seeking something
fresh because of novelty. Not looking for change . (Duckworth). Many may say that
change is good, and that is true in some cases. Change is good for the bad habits
that I mentioned in my previous habit, however, constant changing results in worse
habits, and not being able to experience and work on true grit. I believe true grit can
be concrete, or abstract. Grit is concrete in the

The Empty Bowls Make-A-Thon
Bowl Making In November, I attended the Empty Bowls Make a Thon where I,
along with others from the college, made a bowl from clay. The finished bowls will

of the proceeds from the dinner will benefit the Rescue Mission of Mahoning

bowls to donate to community organizations and the bowls are sold to raise
money. Not only did I have a new experience while creating my bowl, I was also
able to help someone in need. Shapiro believes a liberal education is beneficial for
an individual and for a community. Social and cultural experiences ought to give
meaning to both individual and community lives. By participating in the Empty

education encourages improving and broadening one s experiences, which I was
able to do within Westminster College. In a way, the bowl making also relates to The

INTRODUCTION
ORIENTATION AND CONTEXT
Significance of Text The theme of this text seems to be centered on the cost of
following Christ. God wants everybody; but with regards to discipleship, He wants
only those willing and able. Jesus knows the hearts of those following Him and it is
not the number of people He is concerned with, but the volume of their hearts. ?The
audience has shifted from the Pharisees and dinner guests of 14:1 24 to the large
crowds of people who were traveling with Jesus. Apparently Jesus has resumed his
journey toward Jerusalem (9:51) and now will address the crowds? (Evans 228). He
is on His final walk, a journey that will lead Him to a cross. This crowd is not ready.

requires self denial. The cross was the most painful and humiliating form of
execution of the Roman era. Thus, to take up one?s cross daily is to expect painful
situations every day because of allegiance to Christ? (1?Luke? 1755). We are to
understand that being a disciple of Christ we will have our character tested. We
must be willing to give up everything to follow, and love Him above all others.
Even our own lives are to be a sacrifice for His service. We are to not be ?ostriches?
with our heads in the sand but with open eyes, minds and hearts weigh the cost,
and decide if we are able to follow. Are we able to stand against our enemies, (His
enemies)? Are we strong enough, brave enough, and faithful enough to be counted
worthy? If we are not, are we willing to sacrifice it all to become what He requires?
Discipleship requires service, study, and sacrifice. Surrendering our will to His is
often the hardest challenge/obstacle to true discipleship. Our service to Him
requires action and diligence to sharing both our skills, resources and time. Study
of His word means that we take the time to investigate, memorize and understand
what His word says and how it applies to our lives. Sacrifice is the final key to
unlocking all that God has in store for us both in this life and in heaven. Willingly
laying everything aside to follow Him despite what others

Psychological Breach Case Study Examples
A breach in psychological contract is essentially the organization s inabilities and its
setback in accomplishing its obligations towards the employees of the organization
(Matthijs Bal, W. Jansen, S. Chiaburu, 2010). Due to the fact that a psychological
contract breach is considered a set of unforeseen obligations and occasions that is
likely to pose as a barrier between the employee and employer relationship, thereby
producing contrary results in the workplace than that which is expected.
Lester (2002) submitted that employees are likely to experience a diminished level
of commitment, a decreased level of work performance, and they are likely to
witness to the fact that their psychological contract had being breached. In addition,
Conway Briner (2002) stated that the psychological wellbeing of employees is likely
to reduce when there is a breach in the psychological contract and as result, talent
retention in an organisation will diminish (Tekleab Taylor, 2003).
Morrinson and Robinson (1997) also proposed a theoretical model, which highlights
several conditions that contributes to the perception of a breach in psychological
contract. Their proposal shows reneging and incongruence as the main causes of a
perceived psychological contract breach.
Reneging is the instance whereby agent(s) of an organisation acknowledges that
certain obligations are owed to the employees but intentionally fails to meet the those
obligations (Robinson et al. 2000). Changes in the
The Process Of The Virgin Atlantic Decision Making Process

Jimmy Cross Symbolism In The Things They Carried
In the novel The Things They Carried Tim O Brien introduces the reader not only
to the subject of war and physical exhaustion, but also to human feelings and inner
struggle soldiers are going through at this war. The soldiers carry not only heavy
equipment and necessary things; they carry emotions which strengthen their hope
of staying alive in order to continue their mission. Tim O Brien uses female figure
Martha to create psychological escape which distracts a young soldier, Lieutenant
Jimmy Cross, from the war. However, such distraction leads to death of a group
member, Ted Lavender. The illusion of love for Martha and false hopes gradually
transform into bitter feeling of guilt and the harsh reality of war. Tim O Brien
masterfully describes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the story, Jimmy Cross did think neither about war nor about
security of his men. His thoughts were beyond that. However, death of Ted
Lavender helped him to realize his negligence and carelessness of his actions.
Even though death of Lavender came from a sniper shot, Jimmy Cross blamed
himself. He believed that his destructions and dreams of Martha caused death of
Ted Lavender. He felt shame. He hated himself. He had loved Martha more than his
men (O Brien, 492). Martha s good luck charm transformed to the weight of guilt
(Smith, 26). Jimmy Cross decides to put aside the distraction, determined to follow
the protocol of strict discipline. His survival as a soldier and a leader depends
upon absolute separation from the feminine world (Smith, 26). At that point he was
clear that Martha belonged to another world where no wars exist. He was sad, but
realistic. At that point, he had no material things to carry; however, he had emotional
strength and determination to move his troops safely. He carried weight of the
responsibility. Lieutenant Cross reminded himself that his obligation was not to be
loved but to lead (O Brien, 496). He became a man of integrity, honesty and, a deep
compassion for his men (Smith, 24). Despite the loss of the team member and
fantasies of Martha, he created bond with his

Preparedness Programs As mentioned earlier children is one of many vulnerable
group of people when an earthquake occur. They do not concern themselves with
training and conducting safety drills compared to adults who wants to and needs
to prepare for such disasters. Children are more interested in making friends,
playing with friends, learning, and, of course, having fun at home and school.
Most of the time, children are at school doing what they need to do, which is to
learn from what the school has to offer. They do not fully understand that they may
be separated from their family, loss their parents or brothers and sisters, and
experience a horrific destruction of seeing severely injured people or even dead
bodies. This is something that should not happen and experience by child. It will
be extremely difficult and traumatizing for that child if they do experience it.
However, there are many programs that are developed to mitigate such experience
from a child. In California, there are school programs that will help prepare the
children for the disaster. Not just that, the program are placed to help them gain
knowledge on the mechanism of natural disaster, to be specific an earthquake

Criminal Sentence For Mass Murders
The research that I have found based upon mass murders is that having a publicly
criminal sentence doesn t stop the crimes from taking place. Mass murders are
regarded as a killing of four people or more at a time. If you take murder in general
you would notice that as of October 14, 2015 around 12:30 am the number of
homicides in the U.S. is 13,208. It is very clear that sentencing for homicides are
publicly published. Also, the number of mass shootings that have so far taken place

who was involved is still alive after the indecent its publicly known they will more

The Education For Alien Minors Act
America is known for giving opportunities for those who seek them. Every year,
many immigrants come to this country looking for an opportunity to better their
lives. For many, it is a struggle to find these opportunities. They are being exposed
to a new culture, a new language, and a new mentality. Some immigrants catch a
break and go to work right away. But it is not always so easy. Many of the
immigrants who come to America are young people who accompany their families
on this odyssey. They are too young to work and their only option is to continue
school. There is a huge barrier facing them, being and undocumented student means
having almost no financial help from the government, and also having no benefits.
There is also the fear of being deported while being a student. It would be devastating
to enroll in school just to be deported a short time after. These issues have been
mitigated for many undocumented students due to the Development Relief and
Education for Alien Minors act, simply known as the DREAM Act. The Development
Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act was first introduced by Representative
Luis Gutierrez on April of 2001 as the Immigrant Children s Educational
Advancement and Dropout Prevention Act of 2001. The purpose of this act would
have been to allow undocumented immigrant students to apply to become protected
from being deported, following this; they would have been able to apply for
residency. This act had criteria that individuals had to meet

Those little times when you feel like quitting but know it s worth it or even

many times in school where I have wanted to give up, this could be in school,

Alan Greenspan Pros And Cons
Alan Greenspan, born in New York City on March 6, 1926, grew up surrounded by
economics as his father of Romanian Jewish decent worked as a stockbroker and
financial analyst. When he was five years old, Greenspan expressed his skill in
mathematics by reciting baseball batting averages and performing large calculations
in his head. He attended George Washington High School, where he played clarinet
and saxophone with classmate and future musician Stan Getz. After graduating,
Greenspan studied clarinet at Juilliard for a short time before transferring to New

During this period, many Internet based companies, commonly referred to as dot

Sandberg criticized Greenspan for his role in the promotion and rise in tech stocks.
Their research cites numerous examples of Greenspan putting a positive spin on
historic stock valuations despite a wealth of evidence suggesting that stocks were
overvalued. Sequentially, he was criticized for contributing to the subprime mortgage
crisis. When his fifth term expired in 2006, Greenspan retired from his position at
the Federal Reserve Board. His successor in this role was Ben Bernanke. In 2011, the
bipartisan Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission found that during the U.S. housing
bubble of the early 2000s, Greenspan s failure to limit trade in securities backed by
mortgage loans and his advocacy of deregulation of the financial industry had
contributed to the global financial crisis of 2008. Wall Street and Greenspan often
found themselves at odds. Most business papers have shaped Greenspan as being
rabidly opposed to inflation. Greenspan was criticized for pursuing a battle against
inflation when he could have used his power to reach full employment or economic

J.R.R. Tolkien is a writing superhero who has created a vast world that can be
compared and contrasted. One interesting fact about J.R.R. Tolkien is that he knew
at least 20 languages and made many of his own. Knowing and making many
languages is what really solidified his way of writing, by doing so he created
multiple languages that are used in both The Hobbitand Lord of the Rings. To
understand the differences between Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit is
necessary to take a closer look at the theme, plot, and characters. By comparing The

Each gallon of gasoline you burn creates 20 pounds of GHG. That s about 7 to 10
tons of GHG produced a year for a regular vehicle ( Reduce Climate Change 1).
Getting better gas mileage is a good thing because it means that people can get
better miles per gallon without releasing as many carbon emissions. According to
Barack Obama s administration, they have approved regulations that will force
automakers to nearly double the average gas mileage of all new cars and trucks
they sell in America by 2025 (Krisher 1). This will make it so all automakers will
produce vehicles that will be less detrimental to the environment and will help fend
off the hazardous effects certain to come with climate change. Fuel efficient cars
are considered advantageous because of their smaller gasoline engine , which
release fewer pollution emissions ( Fuel Efficient Cars... 1). A car that is
considered fuel efficient does not consume a lot of gas and gives the best possible
mileage. The less fuel consumed by the car, the less smoke that will come out of the
exhaust. As a result, the damage done to the global atmosphere is less ruinous.
Gases, like carbon dioxide are harmful to us as well as our environment. They aid in
depleting our ozone layer, causing detrimental global climatic changes. Fuel efficient
cars will help in reducing pollution by at least 50%

Why Shouldn T Andrew Jackson Be On The 20 Dollar Bill

Why Andrew Jackson Should Not Be On the 20 Dollar Bill
Andrew Jackson does not deserve to be on the 20 dollar bill. He should not be on
the 20 dollar bill because of the horrible Acts that he has done, like the Indian
Removal Act and the Implemented Spoils System. These two acts were awful
because he made the Native Americans travel ridiculously long journeys, with awful
conflicts like diseases and starvation. Andrew Jackson had also come up with the

Essay on Dramaturgical Analysis
All the world s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. William
Shakespeare may have written these words in As You Like It in 1600, but Erving
Goffman truly defined the phrase with his dramaturgical theory. Dramaturgical
analysis is the study of social interaction in terms of theatrical performance. Unlike
actors though, who use a script telling them how to behave in every scene, real life
human interactions change depending upon the social situation they are in. We may
have an idea of how we want to be perceived, and may have the foundation to make
that happen. But we cannot be sure of every interaction we will have throughout the
day, having to ebb and flow with the conversations and situations as they happen.

It would appear that many rehearse their performance, allowing themselves to correct
any flaws in their performance before giving it. The theory of dramaturgy is
considered a micro theory, under the category of interpretive , which also includes
interactionism, ethomethodology, and phenomolohy. In The Presentation of
Everyday Life, Goffman lays out the seven elements that create a performance: belief
in the role that is being played, the front or mask , dramatic realization, idealization,
maintenance of expressive control, misrepresentation, and deception/mystification.
Using the simple description of someone interviewing for a job, we can see that As he
seeks to assume the role of an ideal employee (idealization), he tries (in his
performance) to convey a certain image about himself through his dress, his speech,
and his expressions (his front), emphasizing those things that he wants the
interviewers to know (dramatic realization). He has to maintain control over these
expressions throughout the interview (maintenance of expressive control). Any lapse
in his performance in that role (misrepresentation) may lead to him revealing those
things that he has been trying to conceal (mystification). (Corbin, 2012) In his book
Frame Analysis, Goffman continued his discussion on dramaturgical analysis. He

Mediterranean Basin Polytheism
The Mediterranean Basin experienced many political and cultural changes from the
8th century BC to the 5th century CE. First, religious views in the Roman Empire
that spread throughout the Mediterranean changed from polytheism to monotheism
over time because people were unsatisfied with the lack of spiritual passion in their
current beliefs. Second, political structures and forms of government changed from
independent city states and republics to empires due to expanding political entities,
trade, and colonization. Lastly, architecture and art continued to improve society by
promoting political organization and public welfare.

Greece had many city states with acropolises, agoras, and temples. Greek architects
constructed acropolises on fortified hilltops for citizens to discuss government
business. The agora was strategically designed to be in the center of a city state as a
marketplace for the general public to shop and gather. Many Greek city states built
temples and monuments to honor their patron deity and serve as religious structures.
The most famous of those temples was the Parthenon in Athens, which was
considered a massive architectural feat at the time. Approximately one century after
the Parthenon was constructed, Alexander the Great began to spread Hellenistic art.
Two major statues of Hellenistic art were the Colossus of Rhodes and Nike of
Samothrace. The sculptures honored the two gods and commemorated war victories.
Similar to Greece, Ancient Rome s architects designed structures benefiting the
general public, political religion, and religion. Many government buildings and the
Twelve Tables were located in the Forum, an intricately designed plaza in the
center of Rome. The Pantheon, constructed in 27 BC, honored all the Roman gods
and displayed the brilliance of Roman architects. Other structures to provide
entertainment and promote public health were constructed from Julius Caesar s
rule to the end of the Roman Empire, 476 AD. Public baths, aqueducts, and roads
were created to promote a healthier and more efficient lifestyle for the people of the
Roman Empire. The Colosseum was a source of entertainment for many people and

Roman Empire gradually declined, architecture was used for defense purposes.
Multiple defensive walls were built to protect Roman Empire from invaders. One of
the first walls built was Hadrian s wall (122 AD) and the last wall built was the

Punch-Drunk Love
Over Independence Day weekend, I had some free time so I decided to watch a
movie. I narrowed it down between two choices, Life Itself which I eventually
went with and loved and There Will Be Blood. One of the reasons I chose Life
Itself was that I hadn t seen a Paul Thomas Anderson movie before and I was
hesitant to jump in with one of his most recent films, which many would consider
his masterpiece. I wanted a warm up, so I watched PTA s 2002 film Punch Drunk
Love. I am now more excited to take on more of his filmography, but also a little
worried.
Punch Drunk Love is a character study focusing on Barry Egan, a troubled man who
sells novelty goods like fun plungers. Egan has seven domineering and emotionally
abusive sisters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This music, with the harmonium playing in several tracks, is one of the most unique
scores I have ever heard. It does a great job at enhancing some of the tenser scenes,
such as the aforementioned three way conversation. It falters some, however, when it
becomes more conventional moments, such as the romantic encounters. The
normality of it feels out of place given the movie and what the score has sounded like
so far.
Although I liked these elements for the most part, I did have some problems with
Punch Drunk Love, and I think some of the blame lies with PTA s screenplay. My
biggest issue was I found the oddity of the film off putting. As you could probably
tell from my plot synopsis, this is a weird film in myriad ways. Due to this
strangeness, I found that I couldn t engage with the story or characters (who are
bizarre in their own right) because I could not identify with them as much.
A lesser problem of the movie is the chemistry between Sandler and Watson. They
have decent chemistry, but Sandler doesn t quite sell their relationship enough to
convince me of its authenticity. Moreover, I never understood why Watson s
character would fall for Barry. He s a bland, weird person. They initial encounters do
have something of a spark, and I totally get why Barry is into her, but I saw no
reason for her to
My Volunteer Service At Fallbrook Church
Leadership is both a research area and a practical skill, regarding the ability of an
individual or an organization to lead or guide other individuals, teams, or entire
organizations. Leadership cannot be defined by just one word, but by action. I have
seen development within myself through my volunteer service. Leadershipis both a
research area and a practical opportunity to share the ability gained as an
individual, also through my organizations to lead or guide other individual team
members who have a common goal. Volunteering in the church organizations
matches my need to be of service to others. While volunteer at Fallbrook church I
in return have been served I have been guided, nurtured, and challenge through the
process. I have been able to utilize skills acquired throughout this year that enhance
my volunteer service. I have been able to challenge the process, inspire shared
vision and model the way through the course of a year. I have been mentored and
taught moral, values and standard through weekly Bible studies. I ve been able to
gain knowledge that is useful for the children I care for on Sunday while their
parents receive education. I model the way through the actions, lessons, and support
I teach the children my return presence is a reminder to the children that I will be a

Captain Winters s Leadership In Easy Company
Easy Company was an airborne unit that was formed in wake of the attack on
Pearl Harbor. It was an all volunteer unit that jumped from C 47s behind enemy
lines. Throughout the war Easy was thrust into crucial battles all across the
European theatre. They would jump to secure the rear of the largest seaborne
invasion of all time, experience the failure of Market Garden, and hold steadfast
against Hitler s last push in the Ardennes. Easy was led by a great individual that
helped decide their fates on the battlefield daily. His name was Captain Winters and
in episode five he and his men were at the end of Market Garden. In the upcoming
battle at the crossroads Captain Winters would lead his Easy Company against a
superior foe. His leadership characteristics... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Winters decided for a sneak attack on the nest. There was a lot of uncertainty
regarding the attack. There was the nest but beyond that he did not know much.
Soon they found out, although they had successfully surprised the Germans, they
had to fall back due to lack of firepower. Luckily the numerically superior Germans
did not give chase. In the morning Winters had to move, his flank was exposed and
he faced a superior SS force. It was only a matter of time before the Germans could
organize so he charged. It was really his only option besides retreat but he could be
walking into a trap for all he knows. Luckily that was not the case and Easy easily
handled the SS. Towards the end of the episode is when the environment really
played a factor. Their passage to Bastogne highlights how the weather will play in
the episodes to come. Easy makes do with what they have, which is not much.

Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction
Essay
An Experiment To Investigate The Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of
Reaction
Introduction
The rate of reaction (reaction velocity) may be defined as the rate of change of
concentration of a stated reactant or product. The rate of a reaction is found by
measuring the amount of a reactant used up per unit of time or the amount of a
product produced per unit of time. A reaction can be made to go faster or slower by
changing a number of factors. In order for a reaction to occur certain things are
necessary: particles must collide with each other and the collision must have enough
energy for the reaction to occur. If this happens the original bonds are broken and
new bonds are formed so that new products are formed. Successful ... Show more

Also when a collision occurs they have more energy and so are more likely to be
successful in breaking and reforming bonds than when they have less energy and are
moving more slowly. Therefore the rate of the reaction will increase. As a rule of
thumb when the temperature increases by 10C, the rate of the reaction roughly
doubles.
The concentration of the acid The more concentrated the solution, the more particles
of reactant are present in a given volume and the greater the chance of a collision
occurring. In dilute acids, with fewer particles the chance of collisions occurring is
reduced.
Therefore if concentration is increased, the reaction rate also increases. This also
applies in reactions between two gases when increasing the pressure has the same
effect as increasing the concentration. The presence of a catalyst A catalyst
increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself being used up. Catalysts are
usually transition metals. In the presence of a catalyst, less energy is needed by a
collision in order to be successful. Therefore there are relatively more successful
collisions and so the reaction rate increases. I have decided to investigate how a
change in surface area will affect the rate of the reaction between calcium carbonate
(marble chips) and hydrochloric acid. The word equation for this reaction is:
Calcium + Hydrochloric Carbon + Water + Calcium
Carbonate Acid Dioxide Chloride
CaCO3(s) + 2HCL(aq) = CO2(G) + H2O(l) +
Ludwig Wittgenstein s Word Games
Introduction:
It is a common tendency for philosophers to invent their own vernacular, usually
giving new connotations and definitions to terms we find ordinary. An instance of
this is Heidegger s Dasein . He takes two very common German words: Da , meaning
there and sein , meaning to be , but Dasein has the heavy connotation of not only
physically existing there, but being present in a multitude of ways (Heidegger, 1927).
Another example is from Foucault expanding the word government not simply in the
common notion of managing a country, but further to the ability to govern one s self
or one s family through discipline or common ground (Foucault, 1979)
Denoting particular connotations onto existing words enables philosophers to give
voice to meanings that would be trying or even impossible to say, but the redefining
of words can also bring confusion to the reader. As Lois Shawver points out in his
article Postmodernizing the Unconscious, if one, as the reader, gives into the
assumption that the language is used in the usual way, then the philosopher s words
will appear to be outlandish and enigmatic (Shawver, 1998).
This begs the question: how does the reader then know if the writer is using an
ordinary term or their newly defined meaning of that same term? In order to make
this distinction and to understand of the redefined and coined terms, one must read
with an intentional awareness of the terms. Wittgenstein understands this difficulty
and aids his readers
Believer Creators
Without a question, people are always the most valuable assets of any
organization. It takes a person to create the idea for any business or non profit
enterprise and people to implement on that vision and make it genuinely lifelike.
All other resources have to be assigned to or managed by people. All organizations
begin as a thought in the mind of one or more individuals. That vision is shared
with others who may become employees. An employee will perform better or at his
peak when he has a positive perception of the work he is doing and his organization.
When an organization believes in its people, it does everything in its power to keep
them happy and motivated. Believers are more creative, committed, collegial and
productive than unmotivated employees. A believer s passion for the organization
and its mission may inspire others who lack the same enthusiasm and drive.... Show

A creator can be anyone from an innovative salesperson to a head of marketing.
Creators think of unique ways to brand and promote your organization, products
and services, culture and people. Organizations that recognize the value of creators
always promote free and radical thought. Tim Cook, Apple s CEO, says that his
organization does not view creativity as a process, but as people who keep thinking
about an idea until they find the simplest and best way to execute it. Achievers are
the people within your organization that meet or exceed your expectations. Whether
it s a VP of Marketing delivering on a projection or a salesperson delivering on a
sales target, achievers get the job done right. These individuals take responsibility
for their actions, focus on what works, are strategic in outlook, committed and
determined. Achievers tend to be both believers and creators. Coming up with new
ideas is commonplace for these employees, as is believing in the mission, products
or services of the

Destino And See You Again
Hitting the pain away or letting a person be free is a way to summarize the endings
of Destino and See You Again . The man in Destino picks up a ball of what used to
be the ballerina s head and hits it into the distance. The ball/head is used to
symbolize the woman at the beginning of the short film. Letting her go by hitting
the ball away is the equivalent of the part of the song describing how to carry on
after a person is gone. Strength is needed to move on with life and strength is
needed to hit a baseball far away. The baseball player symbolizes the man on the
pyramid, reaching for the head at the bottom of the pyramid. He is also seen
reaching for the clock, which can be a way of asking for more time with the face at
the bottom. The
Christy Brown s Cerebral Palsy, My Left Foot
The grass is always greener on the other side; the things you dismiss in your life,
give little thought towards, or complain about may be what others envy. In Christy
Brown s memoir, my left foot, Brown is born with Cerebral Palsy, a condition that
alters his physical growth, leaving him in a helpless state that requires aid
throughout his entire life. In Brown s life, he will physically make significant
improvements and face obstacles that he is forced to coincide with in order to
further the success of his condition. With that being said, as Brown grows and
makes steps to show the world that he in his physical form is alive, without
knowing, Brown has been in a mental battle between figuring out who he is, while
gradually attaching, as well as clinging himself to inanimate objects, and the
significant people that comes in and out of his life to define and fill the void on
everything he s missing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brown expresses to his audience that, It was the chalk that attracted me so much.
It was a long, slender stick of vivid yellow. I had never seen any thing like it before,
and it showed up so well against the black surface of the slate that I was fascinated
by it as much as if it had been a stick of gold. (15) At this point, the moment Brown
spells out the word Mother on the floor with his left foot, Brown shocks his entire
family. Brown becomes accepted in his point of view by his family and grows a
perception of himself that he chooses to believe in through a piece of chalk with a
gesture Brown emphasizes on as, Then my father stooped down and hoisted me on
his shoulder. I had done it! It had started the thing that was to give my mind its
chance of expressing itself.

  • 1. Movie Comparison Essay Crafting a "Movie Comparison Essay" can be a challenging endeavor that demands a keen eye for detail, analytical skills, and the ability to draw meaningful connections between different cinematic works. The complexity arises from the need to delve into the intricacies of each film, understand their themes, character development, cinematography, and narrative structure. Firstly, one must meticulously watch and analyze each movie, taking note of key elements that contribute to their uniqueness. After this, it becomes crucial to identify commonalities and differences, drawing comparisons in a way that sheds light on the distinct artistic choices made by the directors. Striking a balance between analysis and personal interpretation while avoiding plot summaries requires finesse. Additionally, providing evidence to support comparisons, such as specific scenes or dialogues, adds another layer of complexity. When the U.S. Constitution was being drafted, its writers had the British Parliamentary system to base on. The British system was the system they were used to and had learnt since childhood. However, because the monarchy was one of the main things that the former colonists had rebelled against, any form of monarchy and most forms of concentrated power were avoided. The most fundamental difference between the political system in the U.K and the U.S is the constitution. The United States has a written constitution which is very difficult to change. The Upper House The United States has a Senate as the upper house of the legislative branch and the U.K. has the House of Lords. Under the U.S. system, each state, regardless of size, has two senators. Originally, senators were appointed by the governor of the state they represented but they are now elected to serve six year terms. The House of Lords is very different. Members of the House of Lords are not elected. The 792 members of the House of Lords are members by inheritance, appointment or their rank in the Church of England; they are not elected and cannot be removed by vote. This part of the political system in the U.K is not democratic. Otherwise the House of Lords serve the same purpose as the U.S. Senate. They discuss, debate and vote on legislation passed by the lower house of the legislative branch. The Lower House The U.S. House of Representatives and the British House of Commons have a great deal in common. Each house is made up of representatives elected by the people. In both systems control of the lower house goes to the party that has the most seats. Under the U.K. system, the leader of the party with the most seats becomes the Prime Minister and the official head of the government. Under the U.S. system this person would be the Speaker of the House. One other key difference is elections. Under the parliamentary system, the prime minister can go to the crown at any point and ask to dissolve Parliament. If this is done an election

I will ask the students to give me some examples of when they needed to create equal groups of something. • 8. Picked to Work on A Secret Project Nicholas Boyster was one of eight scientists the government had handpicked to work on their newest secret project. Only being in his early twenties, Boyster was practically a child compared to the other scientists, none of them younger then forty. Boyster s young age was not the only thing the other scientists disliked about him, just the most official one. His general appearance fell far short of meeting their approval, too. Boyster s dark hair hung down to his shoulders, often looking as if it had never seen a brush before. In the eyes of the others only short, neat hair befitted a person of their standing. After all, only the best were handpicked for government projects. Last but not least were Boyster s clothes, he wore faded jeans and t shirts instead of the suit pants and dress shirts the others donned every day. The dislike was definitely mutual though. Boyster thought all the other scientists were stuffy old geezers, who had long lost the love for the job and were now just going through the motions. And his immediate boss was the worst of all. Mr. Bright was very set in his ways, never budging even an inch. The other scientists opinions and ideas didn t matter at all; his word was law. On their first day of work together he had set up a strict set of rules he expected everyone to adhere to. It had taken Boyster a total of five minutes to break the first one: /Never contradict me/ Boyster had just meant to tell Mr. Bright that the little glass jars would not be able

Recently, the first thing that these protestors want to do it set fire to the American flag. Why would they do this? Why would they burn a symbol of the freedom they are using to demonstrate their frustrations? Burning the American flag is wrong not only legally but also ethically and therefore should not be protected under freedom of speech. When asked why, most protestors who want to burn the American flag respond with an answer such as it s our first amendment right. Even though the U. S. Supreme court ruled that burning the American flag is protected under the first amendment right to freedom of expression, the reality is that it is against the law to desecrate the American flag. According to 18 U.S. Code В§ 700 Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both. This clearly shows that the legislative branch saw that is was wrong to burn the American flag. While the judicial branch said, in United States v. Eichman, the Supreme Court once again ruled that burning the flag was an example of constitutionally protected free speech (Rothman) they made it clear that no person can be legally charged under this code it doesn t change that fact

In this essay. I will talk about my grades, ability to stick up for what I believe in, and my growth mindset versus my fixed mindset. I believe I have an average balance of growth and fixed mindset, however, I would like to strengthen my growth and grit mindset. I will have to work on this and connect it to my school work as i will state in my essay. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As students, our habits are embedded in us, then once we are out of school, we are told habits are bad. If the period between twenty and thirty is the critical one in the formation of intellectual and professional habits, the period below twenty is more important still for fixing the personal habits (James 9). Instead of having students create studying habits, and learning habits in school, the education system should have gratuitous exercises, that deny habits of sitting down in the same desks every day, doing the same homework packets, and should have us thinking about what we learned instead of: Learn, repeat, take test, forget . Our learning is a habit of memorizing instead of soaking in the information. Grit is strengthening your character, being able to resolve problems, and never giving up. From Angela Duckworth s speech about true grit; The common traits of 300 geniuses include: tendency not to abandon tasks from mere changeability. Not seeking something fresh because of novelty. Not looking for change . (Duckworth). Many may say that change is good, and that is true in some cases. Change is good for the bad habits that I mentioned in my previous habit, however, constant changing results in worse habits, and not being able to experience and work on true grit. I believe true grit can be concrete, or abstract. Grit is concrete in the

  • 19. Gospel Of Luke Fleming 17 INTRODUCTION ORIENTATION AND CONTEXT Significance of Text The theme of this text seems to be centered on the cost of following Christ. God wants everybody; but with regards to discipleship, He wants only those willing and able. Jesus knows the hearts of those following Him and it is not the number of people He is concerned with, but the volume of their hearts. ?The audience has shifted from the Pharisees and dinner guests of 14:1 24 to the large crowds of people who were traveling with Jesus. Apparently Jesus has resumed his journey toward Jerusalem (9:51) and now will address the crowds? (Evans 228). He is on His final walk, a journey that will lead Him to a cross. The cross was the most painful and humiliating form of execution of the Roman era. Thus, to take up one?s cross daily is to expect painful situations every day because of allegiance to Christ? (1?Luke? 1755). We are to understand that being a disciple of Christ we will have our character tested. We must be willing to give up everything to follow, and love Him above all others. Even our own lives are to be a sacrifice for His service. We are to not be ?ostriches? with our heads in the sand but with open eyes, minds and hearts weigh the cost, and decide if we are able to follow. Are we able to stand against our enemies, (His enemies)? Are we strong enough, brave enough, and faithful enough to be counted worthy? If we are not, are we willing to sacrifice it all to become what He requires? Discipleship requires service, study, and sacrifice. Surrendering our will to His is often the hardest challenge/obstacle to true discipleship. Our service to Him requires action and diligence to sharing both our skills, resources and time. Study of His word means that we take the time to investigate, memorize and understand what His word says and how it applies to our lives. Sacrifice is the final key to unlocking all that God has in store for us both in this life and in heaven. Willingly laying everything aside to follow Him despite what others

Psychological Breach Case Study Examples A breach in psychological contract is essentially the organization s inabilities and its setback in accomplishing its obligations towards the employees of the organization (Matthijs Bal, W. Jansen, S. Chiaburu, 2010). Due to the fact that a psychological contract breach is considered a set of unforeseen obligations and occasions that is likely to pose as a barrier between the employee and employer relationship, thereby producing contrary results in the workplace than that which is expected. Lester (2002) submitted that employees are likely to experience a diminished level of commitment, a decreased level of work performance, and they are likely to witness to the fact that their psychological contract had being breached. In addition, Conway Briner (2002) stated that the psychological wellbeing of employees is likely to reduce when there is a breach in the psychological contract and as result, talent retention in an organisation will diminish (Tekleab Taylor, 2003). Morrinson and Robinson (1997) also proposed a theoretical model, which highlights several conditions that contributes to the perception of a breach in psychological contract. Their proposal shows reneging and incongruence as the main causes of a perceived psychological contract breach. Reneging is the instance whereby agent(s) of an organisation acknowledges that certain obligations are owed to the employees but intentionally fails to meet the those obligations (Robinson et al. 2000). They are being exposed to a new culture, a new language, and a new mentality. Some immigrants catch a break and go to work right away. But it is not always so easy. Many of the immigrants who come to America are young people who accompany their families on this odyssey. They are too young to work and their only option is to continue school. • 38. Essay on Dramaturgical Analysis All the world s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. William Shakespeare may have written these words in As You Like It in 1600, but Erving Goffman truly defined the phrase with his dramaturgical theory. Dramaturgical analysis is the study of social interaction in terms of theatrical performance. Unlike actors though, who use a script telling them how to behave in every scene, real life human interactions change depending upon the social situation they are in. We may have an idea of how we want to be perceived, and may have the foundation to make that happen. But we cannot be sure of every interaction we will have throughout the day, having to ebb and flow with the conversations and situations as they happen. Adopted... The theory of dramaturgy is considered a micro theory, under the category of interpretive , which also includes interactionism, ethomethodology, and phenomolohy. In The Presentation of Everyday Life, Goffman lays out the seven elements that create a performance: belief in the role that is being played, the front or mask , dramatic realization, idealization, maintenance of expressive control, misrepresentation, and deception/mystification. Using the simple description of someone interviewing for a job, we can see that As he seeks to assume the role of an ideal employee (idealization), he tries (in his performance) to convey a certain image about himself through his dress, his speech, and his expressions (his front), emphasizing those things that he wants the interviewers to know (dramatic realization). He has to maintain control over these expressions throughout the interview (maintenance of expressive control). Any lapse in his performance in that role (misrepresentation) may lead to him revealing those things that he has been trying to conceal (mystification). (Corbin, 2012) In his book Frame Analysis, Goffman continued his discussion on dramaturgical analysis. He wrote, What is important is the sense he provides them through his dealing with them of what sort

First, religious views in the Roman Empire that spread throughout the Mediterranean changed from polytheism to monotheism over time because people were unsatisfied with the lack of spiritual passion in their current beliefs. Second, political structures and forms of government changed from independent city states and republics to empires due to expanding political entities, trade, and colonization. Greece had many city states with acropolises, agoras, and temples. Greek architects constructed acropolises on fortified hilltops for citizens to discuss government business. The agora was strategically designed to be in the center of a city state as a marketplace for the general public to shop and gather. Many Greek city states built temples and monuments to honor their patron deity and serve as religious structures. The most famous of those temples was the Parthenon in Athens, which was considered a massive architectural feat at the time. Approximately one century after the Parthenon was constructed, Alexander the Great began to spread Hellenistic art. Two major statues of Hellenistic art were the Colossus of Rhodes and Nike of Samothrace. The sculptures honored the two gods and commemorated war victories. Similar to Greece, Ancient Rome s architects designed structures benefiting the general public, political religion, and religion. Many government buildings and the Twelve Tables were located in the Forum, an intricately designed plaza in the center of Rome. The Pantheon, constructed in 27 BC, honored all the Roman gods and displayed the brilliance of Roman architects. Other structures to provide entertainment and promote public health were constructed from Julius Caesar s rule to the end of the Roman Empire, 476 AD. Public baths, aqueducts, and roads were created to promote a healthier and more efficient lifestyle for the people of the Roman Empire. The Colosseum was a source of entertainment for many people and incorporated advanced technology, such as arches and drainage systems. As the Roman Empire gradually declined, architecture was used for defense purposes. Multiple defensive walls were built to protect Roman Empire from invaders. One of the first walls built was Hadrian s wall (122 AD) and the last wall built was the Anastasian Wall (469
  • 42. Punch-Drunk Love Over Independence Day weekend, I had some free time so I decided to watch a movie. I narrowed it down between two choices, Life Itself which I eventually went with and loved and There Will Be Blood. One of the reasons I chose Life Itself was that I hadn t seen a Paul Thomas Anderson movie before and I was hesitant to jump in with one of his most recent films, which many would consider his masterpiece. I wanted a warm up, so I watched PTA s 2002 film Punch Drunk Love. I am now more excited to take on more of his filmography, but also a little worried. Punch Drunk Love is a character study focusing on Barry Egan, a troubled man who sells novelty goods like fun plungers. Egan has seven domineering and emotionally abusive sisters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This music, with the harmonium playing in several tracks, is one of the most unique scores I have ever heard. It does a great job at enhancing some of the tenser scenes, such as the aforementioned three way conversation. It falters some, however, when it becomes more conventional moments, such as the romantic encounters. The normality of it feels out of place given the movie and what the score has sounded like so far. Although I liked these elements for the most part, I did have some problems with Punch Drunk Love, and I think some of the blame lies with PTA s screenplay. My biggest issue was I found the oddity of the film off putting. As you could probably tell from my plot synopsis, this is a weird film in myriad ways. Due to this strangeness, I found that I couldn t engage with the story or characters (who are bizarre in their own right) because I could not identify with them as much. A lesser problem of the movie is the chemistry between Sandler and Watson. They have decent chemistry, but Sandler doesn t quite sell their relationship enough to convince me of its authenticity. Moreover, I never understood why Watson s character would fall for Barry. He s a bland, weird person. They initial encounters do have something of a spark, and I totally get why Barry is into her, but I saw no reason for her to

  • 45. Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction Essay An Experiment To Investigate The Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction Introduction The rate of reaction (reaction velocity) may be defined as the rate of change of concentration of a stated reactant or product. The rate of a reaction is found by measuring the amount of a reactant used up per unit of time or the amount of a product produced per unit of time. A reaction can be made to go faster or slower by changing a number of factors. In order for a reaction to occur certain things are necessary: particles must collide with each other and the collision must have enough energy for the reaction to occur. If this happens the original bonds are broken and new bonds are formed so that new products are formed. Successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also when a collision occurs they have more energy and so are more likely to be successful in breaking and reforming bonds than when they have less energy and are moving more slowly. Therefore the rate of the reaction will increase. As a rule of thumb when the temperature increases by 10C, the rate of the reaction roughly doubles. The concentration of the acid The more concentrated the solution, the more particles of reactant are present in a given volume and the greater the chance of a collision occurring. In dilute acids, with fewer particles the chance of collisions occurring is reduced. Therefore if concentration is increased, the reaction rate also increases. This also applies in reactions between two gases when increasing the pressure has the same effect as increasing the concentration. The presence of a catalyst A catalyst increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself being used up. Catalysts are usually transition metals. In the presence of a catalyst, less energy is needed by a collision in order to be successful. Therefore there are relatively more successful collisions and so the reaction rate increases. I have decided to investigate how a change in surface area will affect the rate of the reaction between calcium carbonate (marble chips) and hydrochloric acid. The word equation for this reaction is: Calcium + Hydrochloric Carbon + Water + Calcium Carbonate Acid Dioxide Chloride CaCO3(s) + 2HCL(aq) = CO2(G) + H2O(l) +
  • 46. Ludwig Wittgenstein s Word Games Introduction: It is a common tendency for philosophers to invent their own vernacular, usually giving new connotations and definitions to terms we find ordinary. An instance of this is Heidegger s Dasein . He takes two very common German words: Da , meaning there and sein , meaning to be , but Dasein has the heavy connotation of not only physically existing there, but being present in a multitude of ways (Heidegger, 1927). Another example is from Foucault expanding the word government not simply in the common notion of managing a country, but further to the ability to govern one s self or one s family through discipline or common ground (Foucault, 1979) Denoting particular connotations onto existing words enables philosophers to give voice to meanings that would be trying or even impossible to say, but the redefining of words can also bring confusion to the reader. As Lois Shawver points out in his article Postmodernizing the Unconscious, if one, as the reader, gives into the assumption that the language is used in the usual way, then the philosopher s words will appear to be outlandish and enigmatic (Shawver, 1998). This begs the question: how does the reader then know if the writer is using an ordinary term or their newly defined meaning of that same term? In order to make this distinction and to understand of the redefined and coined terms, one must read with an intentional awareness of the terms. Wittgenstein understands this difficulty and aids his readers

It takes a person to create the idea for any business or non profit enterprise and people to implement on that vision and make it genuinely lifelike. All other resources have to be assigned to or managed by people. All organizations begin as a thought in the mind of one or more individuals. That vision is shared with others who may become employees. An employee will perform better or at his peak when he has a positive perception of the work he is doing and his organization. When an organization believes in its people, it does everything in its power to keep them happy and motivated.
