How To Start A Narrative Essay About
Yourself
Crafting an essay on initiating a narrative about oneself might seem deceptively straightforward,
but in reality, it presents a unique challenge. The task requires delving into the complexities of
one's own experiences, personality, and emotions, all while ensuring coherence and engagement
for the reader.
Firstly, there's the hurdle of introspection. Reflecting on personal experiences can be a daunting
task, as it demands a level of honesty and vulnerability that many find uncomfortable.
Unraveling one's own narrative requires sifting through memories, emotions, and insights, often
leading to moments of self-discovery that can be both enlightening and unsettling.
Then comes the challenge of structure. How does one begin such an essay? Do you start with a
captivating anecdote, a profound revelation, or a simple introduction? Each approach carries its
own set of implications for the tone and direction of the narrative. Crafting an engaging opening
that hooks the reader while setting the stage for the broader story requires careful consideration
and finesse.
Additionally, there's the issue of balance. How much personal information is too much? Striking
the right balance between authenticity and oversharing is crucial in maintaining the reader's
interest while respecting one's own privacy and boundaries. It's a delicate tightrope walk that
demands thoughtful navigation.
Finally, there's the challenge of universality. While the narrative is deeply personal, it's essential
to ensure that it resonates with a broader audience. Crafting a narrative that transcends
individual experience to speak to shared emotions and themes requires skillful storytelling and
empathy.
In conclusion, writing an essay on initiating a narrative about oneself is a multifaceted endeavor
that demands introspection, structural finesse, balance, and universality. It's a task that requires
not only writing prowess but also a willingness to explore one's own identity and experiences
with honesty and vulnerability.

What Happens When Toasted Lab Report
Experiment Question:
What happens to bread as it is being toasted? and is there any change in results when
toasted in a variety of different ways? for example; toaster, grill, oven and microwave.
Explanation of Question:
What are the chemical changes that take place when a piece of bread is toasted using a
heating supply. Bread can be heated using many different appliances, In this
experiment I will use a microwave, oven, grill and toaster, keeping the bread in the
certain heat for a controlled time of three minutes.
Why does toast go browner quicker using toaster rather than an oven? What causes
toast to turn black when burning? Which appliance is best, and do different types of
breads toast differently and at different rates? I will explore each of these aspects in
depth.
How am I going to do this? : ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heating the surface of the bread turns the starch into dextrin. Dextrins are a group of
low molecular weight carbohydrates produced by the hydrolysis of starch or
glycogen. Dextrin has a sweet taste, hence why toasted bread tastes nicer. Iodine
can be used to test for starch and goes a dark purple colour if starch is present. If
there is no starch present, there will be no colour change. If your test has enough
dextrin present, it might turn a darker reddish
Greek Conformity Report
Conformity:
The Greek Society
Conformity, on a daily basis we conform to the social norms set forth before us by
our friends, family and past experiences. Group cohesiveness (the desire to which
one has to be in and is attracted to the group) greatly increases conformity. Enter
Greek life.
We have all seen them, parading down the halls, across campus, and in the Student
Union. Strutting around with their number one symbols of pride across their backs
or chests, on a sleeve, a pin or hat, GREEKS. Going Greek is a social decision as one
enters college. You either are or are not a Greek, which creates a rather noticeable

The conformity within the organization creates a similarity, a bond between the
members.
It is funny, but sometimes as a Greek myself, I can hear myself, stereotyping people
on the way they act, dress, look, etc., as to what Organization?s ideals I could see
them most easily conforming to. Then as the ?good Greek? that I am I introduce
these people to prospective Organizations where I think they would fit in, not really
giving them a second thought as to where they think they should go. This is how
some are influenced to ?conform? and join an organization.
Independents see Greeks as the ultimate conformers, people who all share one
brain, a mob mentality of party ers, and Frat boys, ?sorostitutes? and
procrastinators. ?Just another brick in the wall? as Pink Floyd would say it. Most
independents do not have a high opinion of Greeks, based on stories, rumors,
movies, and the ?Animal House? images. Their particular view of the so called ?In
group? it not usually one that they long to be apart of. They do not see Greeks as the
?Ingroup? they view their own particular ?cliques? as the ?Ingroup? they want to be a
part of. Independents chose not to conform to the standards set forth by ?founders?

Pneumothorax Essay
The greatest advantage of fine needle aspiration is safety. Fatal complications like
systemic air embolism , haemorrhage or pericardial tamponade have been described.
However, pneumothorax remains the most common complication of CT guided lung
FNAC. Review of the existing literature reveals variable rates of pneumothorax,
ranging from 5 to 64% . Pneumothorax was noted in 36.2% patients of my study
population. In three patients (5.2%) moderate pneumothorax was seen requiring
chest tube placement. It was found that the amount of lung traversed by the needle
size of the lesion is significantly associated with development of pneumothorax. The

Size of the lung masses of inadequate sample groups (37.7В±5.3) were significantly
smaller statistically (p value=0.01) compared to the group where sample was
adequate (54.69В±3.49). This is in agreement with the study by GuimarГЈes et al In
this study, lesions with diameters equal to or larger than 40 mm supplied larger
amounts of adequate material for analysis than lesions with diameters of less than
40 mm. This study also stated that the superior lobe lesions supplied a
proportionally larger amount of adequate material for analysis when compared with
other locations. However this finding was not noted in my study. Layfield et al.
reported that the location of thoracic lesions affect the sample adequacy of CT
guided FNAC of the lung lesions, with peripheral and larger lesions providing more
adequate sample. However Yankelevitz et al. GuimarГЈes et al23 both showed that
the distance between the lesion and the pleural surface did not influence the
probability of obtaining adequate sample. In my study also, there was no statistically
significant difference in obtaining adequate material between the peripheral and deep

The Causes Of The Failure Of Capitalism In The Jungle
By...
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair was written to expose the brutality faced by the
workers in the meatpacking industry. He wanted to show people what was really
going on in the factory because few people were informed about these companies
work conditions . He wanted to show the public that meat was diseased, rotten, and
contaminated. This revelation shocked the public which later led to the creation of
the federal laws on food and safety. Sinclair strongly shows the failure of capitalism
in the meatpacking industry which he viewed as inhuman, destructive, unjust,
brutal, and violent. (Middlebury) Sinclair was an American writer born in
Baltimore. He was struggling to live a basic life, and he started reading about
socialism. He believed that America would vote for peaceful negations , So the
government will take ownership of its business. He then joined the socialist party in
1903, He began to write for the company Appeal To Reason which was a socialist
magazine. The meatpacking company workers went on strikes, the strikes broke
quickly because the company replaced the workers. This, kept the line running and
the other families became Impoverished . After this incident , the Appeal to Reason
suggested him to write about the strikes. He went to Chicago to research about the
conditions of the workers, and he personally interviewed the workers in the factories
. Later his writing became very famous and contained obvious basia. The effect of
these books led Roosevelt
Mankiw s Monetary Policy
The action of the Federal Government poses a great impact on the status of the
economy, the livelihood of the people, and the way other nations will react. The
reality of recession differs from one environment to another, but the meaning of
recession is the same. If policy makers and government officials ignored the outcry
from their nation over a recession, then the results would lead to a depression.
First, the term recession is identified by N. Gregory Mankiw as a period of
declining real incomes and rising unemployment. The actions of the Federal Reserve
play a major role in struggling against the negative effects of a recession. In doing
that, the Fed may use various methods, the most important of which are monetary
policies. Monetary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, over the first two years of the crisis the policy expectations showed
little change. The Fed intervention was not, however, limited to the actions
mentioned above. Therefore, special credit programs, aimed at the restoration of the
financial sphere, were implemented. According to N. Gregory Mankiw, price
movements are how markets equilibrate supply and demand. Moreover, banks had to
undergo stress tests in order to prove that they had sufficient capital. It is identified
by Engen, Thomas, Laubach, and David that, these initiatives are believed to have
improved the people s attitude towards banking system and broadened the flow of
credit, which helped to foster economic
The Deposition From The Cross And The Entombment Of

December 2, 2016 Compare and Contrast:
The Deposition from the Cross and The Entombment of Christ The subject of religion
has captured the attention of artists for centuries, working its way throughout the
years, in and out of various of styles and movements. The artists of this era often
found themselves reliant on this subject matter due to Churches being a steady Patron
throughout the Renaissance all the way to the Baroque period. Whether it was
because of the rich cultural impact to society or the enforcement of strong divine
beliefs, depicting biblical narratives have struck an everlasting cord within this
medium. Two particular ones, in fact: The Deposition from the Cross (Entombment
of Christ) by Jacopo Pontormo and The Entombment of Christ by Michelangelo
Caravaggio. Both of which provide an excellent example of how culture and artistic
style combined can alter the message of the same iconic scene and still evoke
different emotions.
The Deposition from the Cross (Entombment of Christ) by Jacopo Pontormo was
completed in 1528 and originally resided in the Florence Charterhouse as the main
altarpiece. With it s distinct iconography, the work was intended to show the public
the raw suffering of Christ after his sacrifice and how those around him felt at the
time of his death. It holds an uplifting and even hopeful tone with it s sour color
palette, a stable for the Mannerist movement.
Rebel Without A Cause Conventions
Generic Conventions of Teen Movies in the 1955 Film Rebel Without a Cause
Rebel without a cause was the first ever film to be targeted at the newly established
Teenage audience and caused the creation Teen Movie genre because of its incredible
success. The creators of Rebel without a cause saw that there was enormous potential
for the teen audience as they had never been targeted before and they had money to
spend on entertainment as they had no outgoings at all. The film starred James Dean
as Jim Stark the troubled teenager in a new town. He is portrayed as the outsider and
the protagonist as he fights his oppressive authoritative figures.

This is another theme which can be seen in the 1955 Rebel without a cause, as all
teenage characters are trying to make it as mature adults. This is a great task for
the teenagers as the ideal of the love of your life must be found before the
transition is complete. The message of the film is that when love has been found
life will be so much easier. This offers social and economical reassurance for the
audience that the problems of the teenager can be overcome and that true love can be
found. The theme of transition ties in with the sub theme of adulthood and what the
right way to be a man is.

dad shows us how he is emasculated and his role of man has been reversed with
Mrs Stark. This is seen as he cleans up the meal he has made for his wife in a piny.
Jim himself is portrayed as the picture of perfect masculinity as although he is
rebellious he is charming and treats Plato as his surrogate son and Judy as his
loving partner. Because of Jim s heroism in the film, Jim s dad s masculinity is
restored and he realises that they need to resolve the conflict in the family unit.
Plato offers the third view of masculinity as he is portrayed as coward and seems to

Swot Analysis Of Coca Cola Company
Triple Bottom Line within The Coca Cola Company
Laquisha Highsmith
Columbia Southern University Triple Bottom Line within The Coca Cola Company
What is the definition of triple bottom line and does Coca Cola have this triple
bottom line? This is a question many would think relates to financial statistics and
tremendously high revenue earnings. Not even close to the true meaning. Triple
bottom line (TBL) has three distinctive frameworks or bottom lines consisting of
the (1) profit bottom line, (2) people bottom line, and (3) and the planet bottom line
or simply put it means; the three P s profit, people, and planet (Unknown, 2009).
This concept is at the core of Coca Cola in their ability to accurate measure
monetary, community, and environmental performances or unmask weaknesses to
correct with a strategic plan. In completing a SWOT analysis for The Coca Cola
Company, the three P s are relevant in daily operations and globally during joint
ventures with other partners. Now, this essay will uncover each bottom line in detail
within The Coca Cola Company and state how the company specifically addresses as
a strength, weakness, opportunity, or threat. The first area of discuss advances a
helping hand to stimulate the additional two distinctive bottom lines the profits.
First, the profit bottom line takes into account the typical balance sheet of assets
minus liabilities to track equity and income statements. Coca Cola s 2016 Annual

Income Statements and Balance Sheets to Cash Flows and Shareowner s Equity
Statements. These reports account for the company s revenues, gross profits,
operating income, taxes, and consolidated net income. This report breaks down
into operating segments by product and service for finer details of concentrate
beverages sold and the historical data from previous years to show a positive trend

profits, there are always a few losses and Coca Cola is no exception to this reporting

Essay on censorship
Censorship is the act of suppressing publications, movies, television programs, plays,
letters, and so on that are considered to be obscene, blasphemous, or politically
unacceptable (MccGwire 4). Censorship should be enforced because it is needed
into today s society. Censorship needs to be used in media, hate speech, and obscene
material.
To begin with, the media has very negative effect on society as a whole. The mass
media movies, television, and recordings need to be regulated, and not only because
of appeals to irresponsible lust (Lowenthal 19). They have immersed us in violence as
well, habituated us to the most extreme brutality, held it up as a model and
surrounded us by images of hateful human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It corrupts taste and poisons the imagination (Kimball 20). Violent video games,
movies, and music lyrics influence people to retaliate against those people that hurt
them. In the past few years there have been a great number of school shootings. Many
of these shootings were copied off of famous movie scenes and video games. These
obscene aspects of the media need to be banned from children. Children are still
learning the difference between rights and wrong, therefore adults need to take on
this responsibility of censoring what children watch, read, play with, and listen to.
Hate speech should also be banned. Free speech has a class line. It also has a class
responsibility. One person s beliefs cannot cross the line into threats of violence. Free
speech does not cover that (Albano 31). Those institutions most concerned with social
fairness have proven to be the ones most likely to promulgate anti hate speech rules
(Albano 30). Part of the reason seems to be recognition that hate speech can easily
silence and demoralize its victims, discouraging them from participating in the life of
the institution (Albano 30). If so, enacting hate speech rules may be evidence of a
commitment to democratic dialogue, rather than the opposite, as some their
opponents maintain (Albano 30). People should not have to put up with harassment
by others. People should not have to constantly live in the state of fear because others
are threatening them;
Summary Of Looking Backwards By Edward Bellamy
In the second book, Looking Backwards, Edward Bellamy demonstrates the
worldview question what is the zeitgeist . In humanities zeitgeist is defined as the
spirit of the times.Throughout the book Bellamy gives the reader different time
frames to look at, to help examine the zeitgeist. The time frames presented in the book
involve the 19th century and the 20th century. Bellamy distinguishes the time periods
through his characters Julian West and Dr. Leete. All through the book, Julian West
represents the 19th century aristocratic beliefs and Dr. Leete represents the 20th
century utopia belief. With that, it is helpful for one to analyze the characteristics of
the worldview features that are present in all cultural artifacts to understand the...

Leete, the reader gains a better understanding of how much things have changed in
the 20th century. The city of Boston, that was once spread out, has changed to
more of a compact and busy area. Also, the buildings have changed into more
modern structures with technology (pg.55). During his time with Dr. Leete and
his family he sees that many things have changed, since the 19th century. One of
the major things that have changed is that everyone lives on the same fixed
income (pg.96). With their income they are allowed to spend it on whatever they
see is important. Compared to the 1800 s there are a variety of shopping stores that
sell both; wants and needs. It is also important to note that music has changed, too.
During the 19th century it was performed by individuals and bands live, but now
one can listen to performers through technology (pg. 97). Even the political and
economic systems have changed. For example, they use a method of electing
officials by votes of the retired members of guilds (pg.147). Economically the
country has gotten rid of private capital and they are able to calculate expected
demand for goods and services. This is due to the fact the nation is the only producer
of them. Another change involves trade with other countries. There is equality
between women and men when it comes to jobs and opportunities. As a society they
have put more emphasis on education and what it can provide for an individual, or a
society. If the 19th
The Women Of Beauty
Women across the globe face this pressure to live up to a certain standard of beauty.
Women will dye their hair, wax their eyebrows, and some even spend thousands of
dollars on plastic surgery, all in an attempt to fit society s perception of beauty.
African American women and women of color in particular struggle to embrace their
own unique beauty, especially when dealing with things such as skin complexion, hair
, and Afrocentric facial features. People have grown up in a society that leads them
to believe that beauty can be achieved if you have fair skin, straight hair, or having
the ideal body Societies views on what is attractive, can persuade another person s
views on attraction. Attraction is partially biological, but also social. Which is why it
is important to have a vast selection of beautiful women to show case that not only
Eurocentric features are attractive. African Americanwomen and other women of
color need more representations of women that look like them in the media. We need
more shows and movies, portraying images of womanof color as beautiful. . Out
there in the world, is a young black/brown girl, who is idealizing Barbie s, celebrities,
and characters that look nothing like her, causing her to feel unaccepted for her
Afrocentric features. I am also concerned about the young girls growing up in this
generation. It breaks my heart to see young beautiful girls that have been brainwashed
with the mentality that being beautiful means being light skin and
The Justification Of Brutus In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
Brutus possesses a gullible personality, which becomes justified when he trusts a
random letter, when Caesar reacts dramatically as he stabs him, and when he allows
Antony to give a speech at Caesar s funeral. After reading a letter lying by the
window, Brutus changes his perspective to Caesar completely. After reading aloud, he
fully believes that the revolt Cassius proposed recently is justified through a mere
letter thrown at his window. Furthermore, within this letter, he shows an inclination
in perspective right away as he says to himself: Shall Rome, etc. Thus must piece
out:... (2.1.51). He does not bother first to determine the true text and meaning of this
message, however, his judgement falls on first impressions, showing his lack of
common sense and how manipulable he is. Moreover, after reading this forged letter,
Brutus never questions the authenticity of the message, demonstrating that he is
gullible enough to trust unknown and unreliable sources like Cassius.... Show more

During the last moments of Caesar s life, he cries out to Brutus: Et tu, Brute? ,
which translates literally to, and you, Brutus? . By the context of the play, Caesar s
surprised expression is justified as it is known to the audience from the exposition
that Brutus was a dear friend to him, as trustworthy as an angel. This rash action of
committing sudden mutiny to Caesar truly shows the magnitude of how Brutus has
been manipulated as now he kills Caesar boldly out of love, not for him, but now to
the Roman Republic in which he believes that he is doing a great service

Beethoven Seventh Symphony Analysis
Pratt Carrol stated that Music is the language of emotion, and emotions tend to be the
same the world over, in spite of differences in social customs and language. In other
words, music is a fabulous expression of the human being no matter the culture or
norms because it manages to immediately transmit different feelings and emotions
that other forms of art may not transmit.
For my Introduction to music class I decided, to write about the Seventh Symphony
in A major (Op. 92) by Ludwig van Beethoven. The reason why I choose this
symphony is because it s an emotional piece of music, and it definitely catch my
attention since the moment I heard it. I feel this symphony reach emotional situations
that are above human explosions. Emotional areas that invade us through a
contradictory fact between feelings. The Seventh Symphony in A major by
Beethoven appears in 1813. The orchestra contains two flutes, two oboes, two
clarinets in A, two bassoons, two horns in A (E and D in the inner movements), two
trumpets in D, timpani, and strings. Beethoven insisted on directing it at its premiere,
with tragicomic results. The critics recognized a new genius of Beethoven; even
today there are experts who consider it as the best of their symphonies. Richard
Wagner, another fervent Beethovenian, describe this symphony as all tumult, all
yearning and storming of heart into the blissful insolence of joy, which snatches us
away with bacchanalian might. For its relentless dance rhythm and

this leads her to become more bright and sincere about life than she was before.
Since life is hard with the redskins babysitting them, Mr. Watts had given us kids
another world to spend the night in. We could escape to another place...at the end
of chapter one I felt like I had been spoken to by this boy Pip... I had found a new
friend. This proves she is understanding that in books, she can get lost in them and
learn many things, including to believe. The book helps her through the tough
times on the island, giving her faith that everything will be all right. Additionally,
Pip causes her trouble with her mom. This change is character to character, where
her mom is disapproving of Matilda with Pip. To her mom, it seems that Pip has
taken over Matilda s life in a negative way, but overall, it benefited Matilda. For
example, Matilda wrote Pip in the sand and in return her mother gave me a look of
pure hate.. I waited for the slap. Instead she kicked out at the sand around PIP, then
kicked out at the air over his name. This clearly shows that Matilda loves Pip, since it
is the closest thing to her heart, but her mother is damping it, resulting in them to
become further apart. The only thing keeping them together is that they both have

John Krakauer s Into the Wild is a biography that covers a man s attempt to live life
off the grid and stray from the societal norms of mid nineties America in order to
achieve enlightenment. Throughout the story, the readers follow Chris McCandless

He explains how he was torn between quitting his job, which was necessary for the
income, or continuing to venture into the wild, searching for new places to climb.
Krakauer never had any doubt that climbing the Devil s Thumb would transform
his life. How could it not? (135). This technique of rhetorical questioning requires
the reader to think of Krakauer s options and aims to make the readers predict
where Krakauer his headed, leaving his job in search for climbing opportunities.
After Krakauer clues the reader about his future plans, he then goes on to tell them
of the day he quit his job. He writes the next few sentences in problem solution
format, noting ...after nine hours of humping two by tens and driving sixteen penny
nails, I told my boss I was quitting (135,136). This concise problem solution
sentence format notifies the reader that Krakauer was sure of his decision to quit his
job. He did not need much time to think about this life changing decision, assuring
the readers that he has been waiting for this lifestyle of adventure and freedom.
Simply put, Krakauer and McCandless both operate on whims and are sure of their

The Sports Of Professional Baseball Professional Sports
Lockouts refer to when owners or management closes their doors to their
employees. A strike is when employees refuse to work. In most cases labor unions
are born out of unfair working conditions and wages were salaries that may be
minimal. One might not think of poor working conditions minimal salary when it
comes to the three major sports of professional baseball professional basketball in
the National Football League. You look at athletes like Michael Jordan, Kobe
Bryant, Peyton Manning, and Alex Rodriguez and see the amount of money that
these individual have earned through the years of playing professional sports you
would have a hard time finding anyone feeling sorry for them. When it comes to
these perks that today s professional athletes enjoy is do to those who came before
them that had the audacity to challenge the owners. What is diplomacy, knowing
how to deal with people in a particular way to ultimately get what you want. That s
my interpretation of the diplomacy as it pertains to negotiations. In sports one may
ask how negotiations spiral out of control to the point where you get some type of
work stoppage by strike or by lockout. Fans are getting upset and disgruntled and
question, it s all about greed millionaires battling billionaires. What could be leading
to the lockouts what factors would get in the way of some tough but rational
negotiations. Fundamentally when it comes to the sports leagues work stoppages
usually come from economical or aggregate

Designing A Successful Web Advertising And Marketing...
Search engine marketing providers have increased in significance and there have
been a number of traits enveloping the market. Most web optimization corporations
are anticipated to know and perceive the algorithms created for serps, but solely few
are in a position to crack it with precision.
Some sites get extra guests than the others while some fail to get even some guests
depending on their online presence. It is the major job of an search engine
optimisation specialist to spice up the presence of the sites. The algorithms
determine if the positioning web page needs to be in the first page for a relevant
keyword. Natural search engine optimisation providers and results resolve the online
presence of a website to an important extent.
There are many steps to create a successful web advertising and marketing strategy
associated to natural search engine optimization providers which embrace several
content material management options, hyperlink building companies, articles, press
releases and directory postings for better web optimization placements. For lasting
visitors stream and enhanced conversion rates, seo works the best.
Article Submission is likely one of the greatest methods of organic search engine
optimization companies as articles supply a generic platform for linking again to the
main web site with out being blatantly promotional. The readers profit by getting a
generic insight into the market and in addition a related supplier of the services. The

What Is True Individual Freedom In The Story Of An Hour
True individual freedom cannot exist without independence, was a quote Franklin
D. Roosevelt once said. What is meant by this statement is you cannot have
freedom without independence and vice versa. It s like the peanut butter needed
in a jelly sandwich. Mrs Mallard represents this quote in the short story The Story
of An Hour by Kate Chopin. One day, Mrs. Mallard, the protagonist received the
news that her husband had died in a railroad accident. Once she had heard this, she
went to her room and started to sob. She was sad that her husband died, yet she
often had not loved him. But then, she realized that she can be free and independent
since her husband is dead. Mrs. Mallard, also known as Louise, starts to pray that her

Mallard starts to feel free and independent since her husband isn t around the house
anymore. She came to her consensus that there are positive things that are coming
from this. In the story, Mrs. Mallard says Free Body and soul free! she kept
whispering (15). The reader learns that Mrs. Mallard is now feeling like waves of
freedom have washed over her, instead of gloomy ones. She realized that she is
now not held back by anyone, as she was seemingly restricted by her husband to do
things she had always dreamed of doing, by herself. Her body and soul are free,
looking forward to fun days later on in her life. She could finally have the freedom
and independence she had always wanted. A little further into the story, Mrs.
Mallard s thoughts are Spring and summer days, and all sorts of days that would be
her own. She breathed a quick prayer that life might be long (18). This is another
example of the author showing Mrs. Mallard s independence and freedom. She is
looking forward to free and independent spring and summer days in the future. She
also makes a quick prayer that life might be long because she now wants to
experience fun days with her two new traits. Mrs. Mallard wants her freedom and
independence to be the longest it possibly can, up until she dies. Mrs. Mallard wants
to experience her freedom and independence now since her husband has
Persuasive Essay On Road Biking
Road biking is an awesome way to amplify your fitness should you decide to add it
to your training. First and foremost I have always been a mountain biker, with
cyclocross being a close second. I much prefer dirt, dust, mud, and rocks in contrast
to smooth black tar of the roads. Playing amongst the trees and bushes is a frivolity
that I enjoy often. Wheels flicking through the loose terrain, sliding left, sliding right,
barely in control of your machine but yet always somehow making it to the bottom of
the trailin one piece.
Mountain biking is about battling against yourself and what nature may throw at
you. A big storm could bring change to a familiar trail. For example, a driving rain
throughout the night might create a giant rut down the center of a fireroad.
However, a sandy or dusty trail will wash away leaving a huge hole unseen until
you are almost upon it. Then and only then you have split second decision to
make: should I jump the hole or is an out of control brake slam my only
alternative? Mishaps are generally due to rider error when mountain biking.
Comparatively, you may navigate a rock garden too slowly or careen into a corner
too quickly thus landing in the brush. Or probably slide out on a sand patch or lose
speed on a technical climb falling backward (which I have done). As a mountain
biker, we have less external influences when navigating the terrain so any mistakes
you may experience can be chalked up to rider error.

Persuasive Poetry Essay
A large portion of the poems come from the elven race. The poems of the ancient
race create a sense of longing and acceptance of fate, develop motifs of light, water,
and stars, and show racial values of history and the journey across the sea. A
sweeping theme among elven poetry is the sense of longing and acceptance of
destiny. Whenever the fellowship is about to leave the elvish land Lothlorien,
Galadriel sings of her desire to cross the sea to return to the land of the Valar. Her
song, both a lament for her land of Lorien and a love song for the land across the
sea, echoes a distinctive conflict among elves between staying in the land of Middle
Earthwhere they have built lives, fallen in love, and fought for good, and going on
the last journey of their lives to their homeland across the sea (Tolkien,... Show more

However, Tolkien also attempts to show that everyone and everything has its time,
and once one feels that he or she has completed his or her fate within this world, he
or she can prepare themselves to move on. Whenever Galadriel sends messages to
the Fellowship once the Fellowship reach the land of Rohan, Galadriel warns
Legolas, a fellow elf, to Beware of the Sea!/If thou hearest the cry of the gull on the
shore,/Thy heart shall then rest in the forest no more (Tolkien, Two Towers 112).
Legolas later acknowledges that his longing to cross the sea developed when he
sings of the beauty of the coast and the sea, and laments that the sea began to call
to him as Galadriel predicted (Tolkien, Return 156). The singing of the poem about
the beauty of the sea indirectly draws the reader s attention to Legolas desires and
his racial destiny to cross the sea, exemplifying the racial theme of longing. Motifs
are also prevalent as symbols for elven racial
What Role Did Religion Play In Life During The Middle
Ages
Religion played an important role in life during the Middle Ages. Christianity itself
was a huge factor in everyday life. Monks and nuns were men and women who
devoted their lives to Christianity by cutting their ties with the outside world. They
achieved this by living apart from the outside world in secluded communities known
as monasteries where they could focus their attention, religious studies and practices
/activities. These communities self sufficient as they were able to harvest crops and
raise animals. Nuns lived in similar communities known as convents. These were
separate from the monasteries. Monks and Nuns took vows of celibacy and
obedience before entering the life of monasticism. With these vows they were not

What Is My Dreams Essay
Dreams are successions of images, ideas, emotions and sensations that occur usually
involuntary in the mind during certain stages of sleep. Some people claim that they

memory than others. Some can remember their dreams vividly. While others can
remember partially. And others can t remember anything.
I want to tell you a story about my dreams. Before my final exam, I dreamed about
ghost regularly. It s true. I dreamed at in the afternoon and at night. Ghost hung in
mid air around me. I saw them, touched them a little, I called my mom but I

Goodness Tainted Thoreau Quote Analysis Essay
There is no odor so bad as that which arises from goodness tainted.? Walden, Henry
David Thoreau
There are two ways that this quotation might be interpreted, one way focuses on a
person s goodness, or lack of, and the other concerns benign or malicious intentions.
The quotation could be interpreted to mean that it is a sadder thing for a good
person to decline into immorality than for a bad person to do something wicked. This
interpretation of the quote can be illustrated by the book The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Dorian Gray enters the story as an enchanting, vivacious, almost cherubic youth,
comparable to the beautiful Greek god Adonis. As the story progresses, Dorian gets
drawn into a habit of hedonism, financial waste, ... Show more content on

It can be understood that the tragedy of The Picture of Dorian Gray is that such a
fair lad as Dorian could stoop so low, and the character of ?Harry?, corrupt as it is, is
a constant and therefore does not invoke as much emotional response from the
audience. On a similar wavelength, the quotation could also be interpreted as
meaning that good intent with bad outcome is more unpleasant, or ?foul?, than
malicious intent altogether. This is like comparing the Hindenburg explosion to a
kamikaze?s crash. During the 1930?s, the Zeppelin industry served as a peaceful
connector between Germany, other western European nations, and the United States.
Though Hugo Eckener, the head of the Zeppelin company, persevered in his vision of
peaceful association, the rise of Nazi dictatorship threatened the business. The
spontaneous combustion of the Hindenburg Zeppelin over New Jersey caused the
American public to voice misgivings about Germany?s intentions for intercontinental
transportation and amplified tensions between European nations, and the zeppelin
business was made to come to an end. Overall, the purpose of Zeppelins was to
establish peace, and it was a fluke of chemistry that malformed their intentions into
something detrimental. In contrast, a kamikaze pilot is one who crashes his or her
plane in order to destruct. By this
How Police Officers Are Affected By Loud Noise From The
Gun
How Police officers are affected by loud impulsive Noise from the Gun
Introduction
Noise is one of the most widespread causes of hearing loss, and the most likely
causes of occupational illnesses in the United States (Leigh 728). Acute or
prolonged exposure to high level, impulsive noise is an ongoing problem for the
military and defense forces all over the world (Sliwinska Kowalska and Adrian Davis
274). One shot from a big caliber firearm, perceived at a close range, may
permanently or temporarily damage an individual hearing in an instant. Additionally,
repeated exposures to noisy machinery may, over an extensive period of time,
impose serious risks to human hearing. According to the report released by
National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD); ten
million Americans have already suffered permanent hearing damage from noise
and thirty to fifty million individuals are exposed to hazardous noise levels every
day (Leigh 728). Many hearing illness in the police service originate from the noise
caused by gunshots. As a result of increased cased of hearing problem, mainly in the
police service, many scholars have engaged in research in order to get appropriate
mean to control these problem. Considering the increasing investigation from military
groups for vital information on how to protect from impulse noise, it is vital to
explore health effects associated with impulse noise from gunshots. This study
explores the effects on hearing caused by
Bronfenbrenner Analysis of Ecological Human
Development...
The ecological theory of development was created by a Russian American
psychologist named Urie Bronfenbrenner. He developed the theory based on his
belief that all children grow and develop differently based on their environmental
factors and the situations surrounding those environmental factors. The theory was
comprised of four levels and later a fifth level was added. The microsystem level
focused on those factors that immediately surrounded the child. Those factors could
include: family, school, neighborhood, and church. Mesosystem level is a connection
between two different environments, like school and neighborhood. Those external
environmental factors such as the media, government, and extended family and
friends are referred to as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My mother was the person that made most of the decisions regarding how we were
raised. She was very strict in terms of homework. Although she was not very hands
on in terms of the homework being done, she insisted that it was done every day
when we first got home from school. She also expected my brothers and me to
maintain a B average though out our school years. I think she expected more out
of me because I showed the love for learning at an early age. My brothers didn t
seem to like school and struggled through a lot of it. Over time, our mother began
the lower her expectations for them. My father was happy as long as we didn t not
receive any F s. The layer that is considered the outermost layer of development is
known as the macrosystem. This layer is comprised of cultural beliefs, values,
customs, and economy. My father grew up in the Seventh Day Adventist religion
and although we did not consistently belong to a Seventh Day Adventist church, he
did make us follow a lot of their beliefs. My brothers and I did not grow up in a
very religious family. My parents did go to church that often. My paternal
grandmother was a Seventh Day Adventist and we sometimes attended church with
her. My father later became more relax in his beliefs as we grew older. However,
the one thing he was very adamant about was, we were not allowed to eat port until
we were grown. There were also the economy factors that affected my development.

Edward the Confessor as a Failure Essay
Edward the Confessor as a Failure During Edward s the Confessor s reign from
1042 1066, Edward faced many problems. According to Stafford, some of the
problems had no obvious solutions. Some historians argue that Edward was a
failure as he was unable to deal with the power of the Godwine, and was even less
successful with the power of Harold and thirdly, he was unable to solve the problem
of the succession issue according to Barlow as he shows that there were no
contemporary sources that show Edward dealing with the succession, in the latter
part of his reign. Evidence shown from historians that Edward had an inconsistent
policy towards the succession issue. The Norman sources and English sources... Show

This shows Edward as a successful as he defended his kingdom from Swein
invading. There is also evidence from Barlow that Edward always took command
whenever possible of an invasion. Edward provides training of his navy and he
gave it leadership when danger threatened. According to Barlow, Edward was able
to deal with the foreign policy going worse. Edward was able to stop William from
forming an alliance with Flanders. The reason why he does this was because then
that would mean they would share maritime power, meaning that they could help
Swein, Magnus or Harold Hardrada from invading England. Edward forms an
alliance with William, meaning that William will not be able to form an alliance
with Flanders. Therefore this shows that Edward was a success as he was
defending his kingdom from any external enemies. This view of Edward is agreed
by other historians such as the Vita, ASC and Ailred. Also according to Snorri
Sturluson he says that Edward was nicknamed Edward the Good, which describes
him well…By the English he is regarded as a saint. According to Barlow,
Edward had no ambition to widen his empire his policy towards Scotland and
Wales, like his Scandinavian policy, was purely defensive. Schama supports this
view as he mentions that Edward was concerned with defending western borders of
Mercia and Wessex against expansion of the Welsh princes. Due to all these historians

The Problem With Agriculture System
Abstract: Agriculture produces an abundance of data in both public and private
domains. This data can be used to gain profit in agriculture as well as in other fields
like ecology, environment, and business. The problem with agriculture system is how
to discover additional information (insight) from agriculturehistorical (precision) data
to increase agriculture production and distribution system. So to increase production
and distribution system we use big data approach. Big data analytics in agriculture
application provide a new insight to give advance weather decisions, improve yield
productivity and avoid unnecessary cost related to harvesting, use of pesticide and
fertilizers. The framework is capable of handling unstructured data as well as
structured data.

1.INTRODUCTION
Big Data in agriculture refers to the huge amount of data, generated in agricultural
practice and measurement. The processing and management of huge data is a
challenging task over traditional methodology and platforms. The processing of huge
quantity of data needs pay new hardware and software platforms with tools and
techniques. In agriculture, data is collected in the form of real time data, historical
generated data, social media websites generated data and this collected data can be in
any format either it is structured or unstructured form. As agriculture generates more

Key Elements Of Gothic Horror Literature
Feelings of fear, shock, and utter abhorrence are key elements in Gothic horror
literature that have frightened readers since the eighteenth century. American writer,
editor, critic, and poet, Edgar Allan Poe became a highly influential figure in the
world of literature and is one of the first writers to develop this genre of fiction and
horror. In Poe s popular short stories The Fall of the House of Usherand The Tell Tale
Heart, Poe can be described as a Gothic writer by exploring themes of death and
darkness, madness and helplessness, supernaturalism and setting and architecture, in
order to reverse the norms of rationality as illogical and unexplainable events
generate fear in the reader.
For many centuries, people have had a morbid desire to explore the realms of
death and darkness; As a result, death and murder became a staple in Gothic
writing and a key feature in many of Poe s stories. Additionally, death is a
dominant theme in The Tell Tale Heart as the narrator resolves to murder his
victim because he is afraid of the old man s eyes resembl[ing] that of a vulture
(138). In a gruesome manner, the narrator suffocates the old man with a mattress,
dismembers his body, and proceeds to hide the remains under the floorboards. In
the Gothic age, one of the greatest fears was anything that threatens reason;
Consequently, Poe creates this horrid murder as it highlights non rational and
transgressive behavior generating terror and suspense. Furthermore, in The Fall of
the House of Usher, Madeline s arrives in her violent and now final death agonies
(40) to attack her brother, Roderick, and he dies of fear. This violent attack is
frightening as Madeline s ghostly appearance depicts the illogical and uncanny,
creating an atmosphere of horror and terror. By portraying feelings of discomfort,
thrill, and morbidity for his readers, Poe successfully conveys major Gothic elements
in his stories.
Poe is not only famous for featuring dark themes such as death and murder, he also
alludes traditional Gothic elements of madness and helplessness through his
psychologically unstable characters and macabre events. The paranoid, fixated, and
mad narrator in The Tell Tale Heart is obsessed with his plan to

Walt Disney Research Paper
Walt Disney s next animation was a considerably more ambitious in scale than
Steam Boat Willy, and was to be referred to by critics as Disney s Folly all throughout
production due to its scale and ambition. Disney wanted to move his studio from
shorts to
full features, and began working on Snow White and the Seven Dwarves in 1934. It is
considered by many to be the first full length animated movie ever, which made it
really
difficult for him to obtain funding. When he announced to the New York Times his
plans
to release this movie, his wife, and his business partner Roy Disney begged him to

Another thing Walt Disney did to have this movie stand out was produce

something Disney had exclusive rights to the three color process, and Technicolor

Investigating The Effect Of Ligand On The TFT Properties...
To investigate the effect of ligand on the TFT properties, we focused on the In2O3
NCs films cured at 150 В°C. Both the ligand molecules OA and BET were
conserved on the NCs surface in the TFT devices at a curing temperature of 150
В°C. The TGA curves confirmed no weight loss at 150 В°C (Figure. 4). Moreover,
the FTIR spectrum of the thin films cured at 150 В°C also supported the existence
of the ligand molecules OA and BET with high intensity peaks of the alkyl group
Csp3 H and carboxylate group COO (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). Therefore, The Вµ
increased after the ligand exchange process because of the decrease ligand length
from OA (1.97 nm) to BET (0.48 nm). In the In2O3 NCs films cured at 150 В°C, the

Table 1. TFT characteristics of the In2O3 OA NCs and In2O3 BET NCs thin films
annealed at different temperatures.
The Вµ of In2O3 OA NC and In2O3 BET NC thin films increased by 2 4 orders of
magnitude with increasing annealing temperatures from 150 В°C to 350 В°C, at
which the OA or BET ligands decomposed as discussed in the TGA (Figure 4) and
FTIR results (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). Specially, the highest mobility obtained in this
study are 4.1 cm2V 1s 1 for the In2O3 BET NC TFT annealed at 350 В°C. This can
be explained by thermal decomposition of the organic ligands OA or BET on the NC
surface, decreasing the d between the neighboring nanocrystals with increasing
annealing temperatures [15]. This was further supported by investigating the
crystalline domain sizes of the NCs from the XRD pattern of the thin films (in the
supplementary information). The crystalline domain sizes were not significantly
affected by the annealing temperature, indicating that the In2O3 NC thin films still
consisted of an assembly of the single crystalline NCs [15].
Temperature dependence of In2O3 NC TFT devices To know the charge transport
mechanism, the relationship between the mobility and temperature was investigated.

shifts in political ideology and social structure. Although some forms of art, especially
music, did not become emotional vehicles of individual experience until the
Romantic period, the art of the Enlightenment certainly reflected the changing social
climate of the era and the political views of the artists. A prime example of the
portrayal of social life in the arts during the Enlightenment is in the conflict between
the Rococo and Neo Classical movements. Not only is Rococo art and architecture
aesthetically pleasing, but during the eighteenth century this type of artwork helped
the nobility momentarily forget about the brooding societal climes in which they
lived. The mood of Rococo artwork is often carefree (though sometimes tinged with a
bit of sadness), the color hues are muted, and the subjects are usually aristocratic
figures enjoying various hobbies. Style galant and Empfindsamkeit are two... Show

The textbook states that The aims and ideals of the Roman Republic freedom,
opposition to tyranny, valor ...became a characteristic of the art of the French
revolution. Specifically, Neo Classical artists emphasized a balance between emotion
and restraint (p. 568). Thus, Neo Classicism was one way in which the lower classes
of Europe identified with the worldview of the ancient Romans as they sought to
better their position in society. Classical music, which is characterized by the
expression of emotion in a thoughtful, structured manner, was one result of the Neo
Classical movement. The Classical tradition gave rise to the symphonic form, which
was perfected by the now famous composers Franz Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang

Descriptive Film
Great cinema is provocative.
Hey everyone. How is it going?
So what makes a great movie for you? Something probably with guns and action
right? Some kind of romantic comedy, maybe? Some sports movie from zero to
hero? Why do we love these movies, even if we know, they really aren t great
movies... We love them because they evoke a feeling inside of us. They are
provocative.
The Oxford Dictionary states that, to be provocative is to cause anger or another
strong reaction, Especially deliberately . If you think of provocative in terms of
cinema many films instantly come to mind, don t they? Timeless movies, movies
that make you feel something, that make you want to go out and change your life.
Actor Russell Crowe once said that, I want to make movies that pierce people s
hearts and touch them in some way, even if it s just for the night while they re in the
cinema; in that moment, I want to bring actual tears to their eyes and goosebumps to
their skin. Actors and directors alike strive to make provocative films because they
understand that great cinema is provocative. So what is it that makes a film
provocative, and is it possible for a film that once was provocative to lose it s effect
over time.
Provocative films, such as Citizen Kane deal with issues of the time and demand a
reaction from the audience. The film, written and directed based on media giant of
the time; William Randolph Hearst aims to deal with issues such as gender equality,
childhood innocence, and
My Lai Massacre Summary
The explanation of why upright people execute wrongful actions is interpreted in
multiple ways. In The My Lai Massacre: A Military Crime of Obedience, Herbert C.
Kelman, a professor of social ethics, and V. Lee Hamilton, a sociologist, discuss how
the practice of authorization, routinization, and dehumanization are employed to
carry out unethical actions similar to the My Lai Massacre. The American Law
assumes that subordinates should be obeying orders; however, when linked to
obeying superiors, moral principles become inoperative. Erich Fromm, a
psychoanalyst, and the author of Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral
Problem, explains how the different types of mindset and authorities can be
noticeably effective in whether one is obedient.... Show more content on

As US military expert Rod Powers explains how those who are military members
who fail to obey their superiors risk serious consequences in Military Orders , and
could relate to why Dawson and Downey were convicted for their crimes (Power).
Required to follow orders, a soldier does not need to obey an unlawful order, but
those who obey can be pinned with criminal prosecution and in this case, it
matches with Dawson and Downey s situation where they taped and tied up
Santiago (Power). Fromm can conclude that irrational authority is used by using a
comparison between a slave and their master; the superior wants the best they can
draw from their subordinate and tries to exploit them, leading them to control with
force (Fromm 126). When it comes to deciding whether or not an order is ethical,
it is also the soldier s call to believe the legitimacy of the order; according to Saul
McLeod, who is a psychologist and the author of Obedience to Authority,
obedience is a form of social influence by responding to a direct order from another
individual (McLeod). Although Col. Jessup urged for no one to touch Santiago,
Kendricks directly ordered Dawson and Downey to treat him with a Code Red,
going against Col. Jessup s orders. Numerous situations occur where two people
will discuss the same topic, but would contradict each other. It is easy to say I was
only following orders to justify one s self to explain their reasoning, but that
statement, also known as the Nuremberg Defense, is not going to save a person
every time. Yes, Dawson and Downey were only following orders, but did they ever
take a moment to question whether it was the right action and for a sensible reason?
Probably not in consideration that it is a routine to follow a command because if
they deny their superior s order, many consequences will follow. Kelman and
Hamilton logically claimed that
Rafael Nadal
The king of clay Rafael Nadal Spanish born Rafael Nadal, who has been ranked
between the world s Top 5 since 2003, is regard to be one of the best professional
tennis players of all time. He achieves the Grand Slam at the age 24, which makes
him the youngest player to achieve this career. Nadal was born in Spain on June 3,
1986. He is the second male player to achieve the Career Golden Slam and the first
to win seven French Open title.
He won Wimbledon, the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world, at 2008
against tennis star Roger Federer. One of his famous quotes is Always I believe that
I can play better. But I am happy. (Biography.com) Nadal starts to play tennis when
he was 3 years old. His uncle, a professional player before, starts to work with him.
When Nadal is 8 years old, he won an under 12 regional tennis championship. His
uncle encourages him to play left handed. When Nadal was only 12 years old, he
won the Spanish and European titles in his age group. He turned pro at the age of 15
and started to play on the junior circuit. Nadal reach the semifinal of the Boy s

(Jackbio.com). His shot gives the ball a very high spinning speed. A well known
tennis website used a high speed camera to record his game. They find out that the
spinning speed of Nadal s ball can reach 4900 spins per minute maximum and 3300
spins per minute on average. Which is much higher than other players. After 2008,
his performance on grass court and hard court became better. He is no longer a king
on the clay court but a comprehensive player on all kind of courts. Although his
athlete talent is widely confirmed, his way of playing often brings him injury. People
always question how long he can last being an

The Role Of A Monster In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
When you hear the word monster what do you think? Do you think of something like
a zombie, or Dracula, or do you think of the people that you might pass on the streets
everyday that might have murdered someone just minutes before? Do you think that
a monster can change it s personality? What do you think goes through a monsters
mind? What leads them to be as bad as they are sought out to be? Can a monster
only be a monster or is there more to it than what the naked eye can see?
A monster in literacy is something unhuman, tall, discolored, incredibly strong,
feared by society. This is the thing that you are told around the campfire while you
were at summer camp. This is the thing you are told you will read and dread when
you get to high school. Monsters also exist elsewhere. They are our own brains, the
things our brains conjure up while staring out of the window of your classroom
when you should be paying attention to the lecture. Monsters are the people who we
hope are locked up behind bars for the rest of their lives. They are the people that
make the country go into a panic. They are the people that make your parents fear for
your life when you are not with them. They are the people you see in your nightmares
or on the news.
Dr. Victor Frankensteins creation is considered a monster according to literacy ...

A monster can be anything our brains can imagine. Monsters can change
themselves if they really want to or if they have a good cause. Monsters can think
just as hard or in the same way as any other person in the world. They just have
more to think about. Monsters can be anything they strive to be, as corny as it
sounds it is true. Monsters can be sympathetic creatures if that is what they choose to
be. Monsters are something that have been changed and modified over the years. As
the years go on monsters will change and will only become

How To Start A Narrative Essay About Yourself

  • 1. How To Start A Narrative Essay About Yourself Crafting an essay on initiating a narrative about oneself might seem deceptively straightforward, but in reality, it presents a unique challenge. The task requires delving into the complexities of one's own experiences, personality, and emotions, all while ensuring coherence and engagement for the reader. Firstly, there's the hurdle of introspection. Reflecting on personal experiences can be a daunting task, as it demands a level of honesty and vulnerability that many find uncomfortable. Unraveling one's own narrative requires sifting through memories, emotions, and insights, often leading to moments of self-discovery that can be both enlightening and unsettling. Then comes the challenge of structure. How does one begin such an essay? Do you start with a captivating anecdote, a profound revelation, or a simple introduction? Each approach carries its own set of implications for the tone and direction of the narrative. Crafting an engaging opening that hooks the reader while setting the stage for the broader story requires careful consideration and finesse. Additionally, there's the issue of balance. How much personal information is too much? Striking the right balance between authenticity and oversharing is crucial in maintaining the reader's interest while respecting one's own privacy and boundaries. It's a delicate tightrope walk that demands thoughtful navigation. Finally, there's the challenge of universality. While the narrative is deeply personal, it's essential to ensure that it resonates with a broader audience. Crafting a narrative that transcends individual experience to speak to shared emotions and themes requires skillful storytelling and empathy. In conclusion, writing an essay on initiating a narrative about oneself is a multifaceted endeavor that demands introspection, structural finesse, balance, and universality. It's a task that requires not only writing prowess but also a willingness to explore one's own identity and experiences with honesty and vulnerability. Explanation of Question: What are the chemical changes that take place when a piece of bread is toasted using a heating supply. Bread can be heated using many different appliances, In this experiment I will use a microwave, oven, grill and toaster, keeping the bread in the certain heat for a controlled time of three minutes. Why does toast go browner quicker using toaster rather than an oven? What causes toast to turn black when burning? Which appliance is best, and do different types of breads toast differently and at different rates? I will explore each of these aspects in depth. How am I going to do this? : ... Dextrins are a group of low molecular weight carbohydrates produced by the hydrolysis of starch or glycogen. Dextrin has a sweet taste, hence why toasted bread tastes nicer. Iodine can be used to test for starch and goes a dark purple colour if starch is present. If there is no starch present, there will be no colour change. If your test has enough dextrin present, it might turn a darker reddish

Group cohesiveness (the desire to which one has to be in and is attracted to the group) greatly increases conformity. Enter Greek life. We have all seen them, parading down the halls, across campus, and in the Student Union. The conformity within the organization creates a similarity, a bond between the members. It is funny, but sometimes as a Greek myself, I can hear myself, stereotyping people on the way they act, dress, look, etc., as to what Organization?s ideals I could see them most easily conforming to. Then as the ?good Greek? that I am I introduce these people to prospective Organizations where I think they would fit in, not really giving them a second thought as to where they think they should go. This is how some are influenced to ?conform? and join an organization. Independents see Greeks as the ultimate conformers, people who all share one brain, a mob mentality of party ers, and Frat boys, ?sorostitutes? and procrastinators. ?Just another brick in the wall? as Pink Floyd would say it. Most independents do not have a high opinion of Greeks, based on stories, rumors, movies, and the ?Animal House? images. Their particular view of the so called ?In group? it not usually one that they long to be apart of. They do not see Greeks as the ?Ingroup? they view their own particular ?cliques? as the ?Ingroup? they want to be a part of. Independents chose not to conform to the standards set forth by ?founders? they have never met and never

However, pneumothorax remains the most common complication of CT guided lung FNAC. Review of the existing literature reveals variable rates of pneumothorax, ranging from 5 to 64% . Pneumothorax was noted in 36.2% patients of my study population. In three patients (5.2%) moderate pneumothorax was seen requiring chest tube placement. This is in agreement with the study by GuimarГЈes et al In this study, lesions with diameters equal to or larger than 40 mm supplied larger amounts of adequate material for analysis than lesions with diameters of less than 40 mm. This study also stated that the superior lobe lesions supplied a proportionally larger amount of adequate material for analysis when compared with other locations. He wanted to show people what was really going on in the factory because few people were informed about these companies work conditions . He wanted to show the public that meat was diseased, rotten, and contaminated. This revelation shocked the public which later led to the creation of the federal laws on food and safety. Sinclair strongly shows the failure of capitalism in the meatpacking industry which he viewed as inhuman, destructive, unjust, brutal, and violent. The reality of recession differs from one environment to another, but the meaning of recession is the same. If policy makers and government officials ignored the outcry from their nation over a recession, then the results would lead to a depression. First, the term recession is identified by N. The Deposition From The Cross And The Entombment Of Christ Lucy Corvalan Instructor Matthies LA 121 December 2, 2016 Compare and Contrast: The Deposition from the Cross and The Entombment of Christ The subject of religion has captured the attention of artists for centuries, working its way throughout the years, in and out of various of styles and movements. The artists of this era often found themselves reliant on this subject matter due to Churches being a steady Patron throughout the Renaissance all the way to the Baroque period. Whether it was because of the rich cultural impact to society or the enforcement of strong divine beliefs, depicting biblical narratives have struck an everlasting cord within this medium. Two particular ones, in fact: The Deposition from the Cross (Entombment of Christ) by Jacopo Pontormo and The Entombment of Christ by Michelangelo Caravaggio. Both of which provide an excellent example of how culture and artistic style combined can alter the message of the same iconic scene and still evoke different emotions. The Deposition from the Cross (Entombment of Christ) by Jacopo Pontormo was completed in 1528 and originally resided in the Florence Charterhouse as the main altarpiece. With it s distinct iconography, the work was intended to show the public the raw suffering of Christ after his sacrifice and how those around him felt at the time of his death. It holds an uplifting and even hopeful tone with it s sour color palette, a stable for the Mannerist movement.

The message of the film is that when love has been found life will be so much easier. This offers social and economical reassurance for the audience that the problems of the teenager can be overcome and that true love can be found. Swot Analysis Of Coca Cola Company Triple Bottom Line within The Coca Cola Company Laquisha Highsmith Columbia Southern University Triple Bottom Line within The Coca Cola Company What is the definition of triple bottom line and does Coca Cola have this triple bottom line? This is a question many would think relates to financial statistics and tremendously high revenue earnings. Not even close to the true meaning. Triple bottom line (TBL) has three distinctive frameworks or bottom lines consisting of the (1) profit bottom line, (2) people bottom line, and (3) and the planet bottom line or simply put it means; the three P s profit, people, and planet (Unknown, 2009). This concept is at the core of Coca Cola in their ability to accurate measure monetary, community, and environmental performances or unmask weaknesses to correct with a strategic plan. In completing a SWOT analysis for The Coca Cola Company, the three P s are relevant in daily operations and globally during joint ventures with other partners. Essay on censorship Censorship is the act of suppressing publications, movies, television programs, plays, letters, and so on that are considered to be obscene, blasphemous, or politically unacceptable (MccGwire 4). Censorship should be enforced because it is needed into today s society. Censorship needs to be used in media, hate speech, and obscene material. To begin with, the media has very negative effect on society as a whole. The mass media movies, television, and recordings need to be regulated, and not only because of appeals to irresponsible lust (Lowenthal 19). It corrupts taste and poisons the imagination (Kimball 20). Violent video games, movies, and music lyrics influence people to retaliate against those people that hurt them. In the past few years there have been a great number of school shootings. Many of these shootings were copied off of famous movie scenes and video games. These obscene aspects of the media need to be banned from children. Children are still learning the difference between rights and wrong, therefore adults need to take on this responsibility of censoring what children watch, read, play with, and listen to. Hate speech should also be banned. Free speech has a class line. It also has a class responsibility. One person s beliefs cannot cross the line into threats of violence. Free speech does not cover that (Albano 31). Those institutions most concerned with social fairness have proven to be the ones most likely to promulgate anti hate speech rules (Albano 30). Part of the reason seems to be recognition that hate speech can easily silence and demoralize its victims, discouraging them from participating in the life of the institution (Albano 30). If so, enacting hate speech rules may be evidence of a commitment to democratic dialogue, rather than the opposite, as some their opponents maintain (Albano 30). People should not have to put up with harassment by others. People should not have to constantly live in the state of fear because others are threatening them;

Bellamy distinguishes the time periods through his characters Julian West and Dr. Leete. Leete, the reader gains a better understanding of how much things have changed in the 20th century. The city of Boston, that was once spread out, has changed to more of a compact and busy area. Also, the buildings have changed into more modern structures with technology (pg.55). During his time with Dr. Leete and his family he sees that many things have changed, since the 19th century. One of the major things that have changed is that everyone lives on the same fixed income (pg.96). With their income they are allowed to spend it on whatever they see is important. Compared to the 1800 s there are a variety of shopping stores that sell both; wants and needs. It is also important to note that music has changed, too. During the 19th century it was performed by individuals and bands live, but now one can listen to performers through technology (pg. 97). Even the political and economic systems have changed. For example, they use a method of electing officials by votes of the retired members of guilds (pg.147). Economically the country has gotten rid of private capital and they are able to calculate expected demand for goods and services. This is due to the fact the nation is the only producer of them. Another change involves trade with other countries. There is equality between women and men when it comes to jobs and opportunities. As a society they have put more emphasis on education and what it can provide for an individual, or a society. If the 19th
  • 12. The Women Of Beauty Women across the globe face this pressure to live up to a certain standard of beauty. Women will dye their hair, wax their eyebrows, and some even spend thousands of dollars on plastic surgery, all in an attempt to fit society s perception of beauty. African American women and women of color in particular struggle to embrace their own unique beauty, especially when dealing with things such as skin complexion, hair , and Afrocentric facial features. People have grown up in a society that leads them to believe that beauty can be achieved if you have fair skin, straight hair, or having the ideal body Societies views on what is attractive, can persuade another person s views on attraction. Attraction is partially biological, but also social. Which is why it is important to have a vast selection of beautiful women to show case that not only Eurocentric features are attractive. African Americanwomen and other women of color need more representations of women that look like them in the media. We need more shows and movies, portraying images of womanof color as beautiful. . Out there in the world, is a young black/brown girl, who is idealizing Barbie s, celebrities, and characters that look nothing like her, causing her to feel unaccepted for her Afrocentric features. The Justification Of Brutus In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar Brutus possesses a gullible personality, which becomes justified when he trusts a random letter, when Caesar reacts dramatically as he stabs him, and when he allows Antony to give a speech at Caesar s funeral. After reading a letter lying by the window, Brutus changes his perspective to Caesar completely. After reading aloud, he fully believes that the revolt Cassius proposed recently is justified through a mere letter thrown at his window. Furthermore, within this letter, he shows an inclination in perspective right away as he says to himself: Shall Rome, etc. Thus must piece out:... (2.1.51). He does not bother first to determine the true text and meaning of this message, however, his judgement falls on first impressions, showing his lack of common sense and how manipulable he is. Beethoven Seventh Symphony Analysis Pratt Carrol stated that Music is the language of emotion, and emotions tend to be the same the world over, in spite of differences in social customs and language. In other words, music is a fabulous expression of the human being no matter the culture or norms because it manages to immediately transmit different feelings and emotions that other forms of art may not transmit. For my Introduction to music class I decided, to write about the Seventh Symphony in A major (Op. 92) by Ludwig van Beethoven. The reason why I choose this symphony is because it s an emotional piece of music, and it definitely catch my attention since the moment I heard it. I feel this symphony reach emotional situations that are above human explosions. Emotional areas that invade us through a contradictory fact between feelings. The Seventh Symphony in A major by Beethoven appears in 1813. The orchestra contains two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets in A, two bassoons, two horns in A (E and D in the inner movements), two trumpets in D, timpani, and strings. Beethoven insisted on directing it at its premiere, with tragicomic results. The critics recognized a new genius of Beethoven; even today there are experts who consider it as the best of their symphonies. Richard Wagner, another fervent Beethovenian, describe this symphony as all tumult, all yearning and storming of heart into the blissful insolence of joy, which snatches us away with bacchanalian might. The book helps her through the tough times on the island, giving her faith that everything will be all right. Additionally, Pip causes her trouble with her mom. This change is character to character, where her mom is disapproving of Matilda with Pip. To her mom, it seems that Pip has taken over Matilda s life in a negative way, but overall, it benefited Matilda. For example, Matilda wrote Pip in the sand and in return her mother gave me a look of pure hate.. I waited for the slap. Instead she kicked out at the sand around PIP, then kicked out at the air over his name. This clearly shows that Matilda loves Pip, since it is the closest thing to her heart, but her mother is damping it, resulting in them to become further apart. The only thing keeping them together is that they both have faith that each other would understand what they

  • 24. Persuasive Essay On Road Biking Road biking is an awesome way to amplify your fitness should you decide to add it to your training. First and foremost I have always been a mountain biker, with cyclocross being a close second. I much prefer dirt, dust, mud, and rocks in contrast to smooth black tar of the roads. Playing amongst the trees and bushes is a frivolity that I enjoy often. Wheels flicking through the loose terrain, sliding left, sliding right, barely in control of your machine but yet always somehow making it to the bottom of the trailin one piece. Mountain biking is about battling against yourself and what nature may throw at you. A big storm could bring change to a familiar trail. For example, a driving rain throughout the night might create a giant rut down the center of a fireroad. However, a sandy or dusty trail will wash away leaving a huge hole unseen until you are almost upon it. Then and only then you have split second decision to make: should I jump the hole or is an out of control brake slam my only alternative? Mishaps are generally due to rider error when mountain biking. Comparatively, you may navigate a rock garden too slowly or careen into a corner too quickly thus landing in the brush. Or probably slide out on a sand patch or lose speed on a technical climb falling backward (which I have done). As a mountain biker, we have less external influences when navigating the terrain so any mistakes you may experience can be chalked up to rider error. Preconceived Notions On the other

The poems of the ancient race create a sense of longing and acceptance of fate, develop motifs of light, water, and stars, and show racial values of history and the journey across the sea. A sweeping theme among elven poetry is the sense of longing and acceptance of destiny. Whenever the fellowship is about to leave the elvish land Lothlorien, Galadriel sings of her desire to cross the sea to return to the land of the Valar. Her song, both a lament for her land of Lorien and a love song for the land across the sea, echoes a distinctive conflict among elves between staying in the land of Middle Earthwhere they have built lives, fallen in love, and fought for good, and going on the last journey of their lives to their homeland across the sea (Tolkien,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Tolkien also attempts to show that everyone and everything has its time, and once one feels that he or she has completed his or her fate within this world, he or she can prepare themselves to move on. Whenever Galadriel sends messages to the Fellowship once the Fellowship reach the land of Rohan, Galadriel warns Legolas, a fellow elf, to Beware of the Sea!/If thou hearest the cry of the gull on the shore,/Thy heart shall then rest in the forest no more (Tolkien, Two Towers 112). Legolas later acknowledges that his longing to cross the sea developed when he sings of the beauty of the coast and the sea, and laments that the sea began to call to him as Galadriel predicted (Tolkien, Return 156). The singing of the poem about the beauty of the sea indirectly draws the reader s attention to Legolas desires and his racial destiny to cross the sea, exemplifying the racial theme of longing. Motifs are also prevalent as symbols for elven racial

Edward was able to stop William from forming an alliance with Flanders. The reason why he does this was because then that would mean they would share maritime power, meaning that they could help Swein, Magnus or Harold Hardrada from invading England. • 35. Key Elements Of Gothic Horror Literature Feelings of fear, shock, and utter abhorrence are key elements in Gothic horror literature that have frightened readers since the eighteenth century. American writer, editor, critic, and poet, Edgar Allan Poe became a highly influential figure in the world of literature and is one of the first writers to develop this genre of fiction and horror. In Poe s popular short stories The Fall of the House of Usherand The Tell Tale Heart, Poe can be described as a Gothic writer by exploring themes of death and darkness, madness and helplessness, supernaturalism and setting and architecture, in order to reverse the norms of rationality as illogical and unexplainable events generate fear in the reader. For many centuries, people have had a morbid desire to explore the realms of death and darkness; As a result, death and murder became a staple in Gothic writing and a key feature in many of Poe s stories. Additionally, death is a dominant theme in The Tell Tale Heart as the narrator resolves to murder his victim because he is afraid of the old man s eyes resembl[ing] that of a vulture (138). In a gruesome manner, the narrator suffocates the old man with a mattress, dismembers his body, and proceeds to hide the remains under the floorboards. In the Gothic age, one of the greatest fears was anything that threatens reason; Consequently, Poe creates this horrid murder as it highlights non rational and transgressive behavior generating terror and suspense. Furthermore, in The Fall of the House of Usher, Madeline s arrives in her violent and now final death agonies (40) to attack her brother, Roderick, and he dies of fear. This violent attack is frightening as Madeline s ghostly appearance depicts the illogical and uncanny, creating an atmosphere of horror and terror. By portraying feelings of discomfort, thrill, and morbidity for his readers, Poe successfully conveys major Gothic elements in his stories. Poe is not only famous for featuring dark themes such as death and murder, he also alludes traditional Gothic elements of madness and helplessness through his psychologically unstable characters and macabre events. Stores and different establishments around the world are having to face a difficult challenge of letting people go into gendered bathrooms they assign themselves to, or having to enforce the rule of boys in boys and girls in girls. There are many cases of this being shown in today s world. Target was the first of letting people chose what bathroom suites them based on their choice of gender, and now they are revoking it due to complications and backlash from customers, instead they are now making a compromise that suites all but will cost them up to twenty million dollars. Although many people will say gender bathrooms are foolish because gender is a choice, they protect the user, and they

Walt Disney Research Paper Walt Disney s next animation was a considerably more ambitious in scale than Steam Boat Willy, and was to be referred to by critics as Disney s Folly all throughout production due to its scale and ambition. Disney wanted to move his studio from shorts to full features, and began working on Snow White and the Seven Dwarves in 1934. It is considered by many to be the first full length animated movie ever, which made it really difficult for him to obtain funding. When he announced to the New York Times his plans to release this movie, his wife, and his business partner Roy Disney begged him to not go through with it. For scale, he estimated he would require $250,000 to produce it, which was 10 times what his series of shorts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The transparency of the slides also lent itself to supplying depth to the animation. The Multiplane Camera was used to great effect during the Witches transformation scene, which made a dizzying effect, as well as just adding consistent depth to every scene. Another thing Walt Disney did to have this movie stand out was produce them in Technicolor. Walt did his first short in Technicolor called Flowers and Trees and a few other shorts before using it on Snow White. The Technicolor process was something Disney had exclusive rights to the three color process, and Technicolor only allowed others to use the inferior two color process for a few years. This allowed Disney

  • 40. Investigating The Effect Of Ligand On The TFT Properties... To investigate the effect of ligand on the TFT properties, we focused on the In2O3 NCs films cured at 150 В°C. Both the ligand molecules OA and BET were conserved on the NCs surface in the TFT devices at a curing temperature of 150 В°C. The TGA curves confirmed no weight loss at 150 В°C (Figure. 4). Moreover, the FTIR spectrum of the thin films cured at 150 В°C also supported the existence of the ligand molecules OA and BET with high intensity peaks of the alkyl group Csp3 H and carboxylate group COO (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). Therefore, The Вµ increased after the ligand exchange process because of the decrease ligand length from OA (1.97 nm) to BET (0.48 nm). In the In2O3 NCs films cured at 150 В°C, the NCs are separated by insulating ligand OA... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Table 1. TFT characteristics of the In2O3 OA NCs and In2O3 BET NCs thin films annealed at different temperatures. The Вµ of In2O3 OA NC and In2O3 BET NC thin films increased by 2 4 orders of magnitude with increasing annealing temperatures from 150 В°C to 350 В°C, at which the OA or BET ligands decomposed as discussed in the TGA (Figure 4) and FTIR results (Figures 5(a) and 5(b)). Specially, the highest mobility obtained in this study are 4.1 cm2V 1s 1 for the In2O3 BET NC TFT annealed at 350 В°C. This can be explained by thermal decomposition of the organic ligands OA or BET on the NC surface, decreasing the d between the neighboring nanocrystals with increasing annealing temperatures [15]. This was further supported by investigating the crystalline domain sizes of the NCs from the XRD pattern of the thin films (in the supplementary information). The crystalline domain sizes were not significantly affected by the annealing temperature, indicating that the In2O3 NC thin films still consisted of an assembly of the single crystalline NCs [15]. Temperature dependence of In2O3 NC TFT devices To know the charge transport mechanism, the relationship between the mobility and temperature was investigated. The temperature dependence of the mobility takes the general form

Conflicting Artistic Styles In The Enlightenment Conflicting Artistic Styles in the Enlightenment The Enlightenment era spanned from the latter half of the 1600s to the end of the 1700s and was a time of monumental shifts in political ideology and social structure. Although some forms of art, especially music, did not become emotional vehicles of individual experience until the Romantic period, the art of the Enlightenment certainly reflected the changing social climate of the era and the political views of the artists. A prime example of the portrayal of social life in the arts during the Enlightenment is in the conflict between the Rococo and Neo Classical movements. Not only is Rococo art and architecture aesthetically pleasing, but during the eighteenth century this type of artwork helped the nobility momentarily forget about the brooding societal climes in which they lived. The mood of Rococo artwork is often carefree (though sometimes tinged with a bit of sadness), the color hues are muted, and the subjects are usually aristocratic figures enjoying various hobbies. The textbook states that The aims and ideals of the Roman Republic freedom, opposition to tyranny, valor ...became a characteristic of the art of the French revolution. Specifically, Neo Classical artists emphasized a balance between emotion and restraint (p. 568). Thus, Neo Classicism was one way in which the lower classes of Europe identified with the worldview of the ancient Romans as they sought to better their position in society. Classical music, which is characterized by the expression of emotion in a thoughtful, structured manner, was one result of the Neo Classical movement. The Classical tradition gave rise to the symphonic form, which was perfected by the now famous composers Franz Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus
  • 42. Descriptive Film Great cinema is provocative. Hey everyone. How is it going? So what makes a great movie for you? Something probably with guns and action right? Some kind of romantic comedy, maybe? Some sports movie from zero to hero? Why do we love these movies, even if we know, they really aren t great movies... We love them because they evoke a feeling inside of us. They are provocative. The Oxford Dictionary states that, to be provocative is to cause anger or another strong reaction, Especially deliberately . If you think of provocative in terms of cinema many films instantly come to mind, don t they? Timeless movies, movies that make you feel something, that make you want to go out and change your life. Actor Russell Crowe once said that, I want to make movies that pierce people s hearts and touch them in some way, even if it s just for the night while they re in the cinema; in that moment, I want to bring actual tears to their eyes and goosebumps to their skin. Actors and directors alike strive to make provocative films because they understand that great cinema is provocative. So what is it that makes a film provocative, and is it possible for a film that once was provocative to lose it s effect over time. Provocative films, such as Citizen Kane deal with issues of the time and demand a reaction from the audience. The film, written and directed based on media giant of the time; William Randolph Hearst aims to deal with issues such as gender equality, childhood innocence, and
  • 43. My Lai Massacre Summary The explanation of why upright people execute wrongful actions is interpreted in multiple ways. In The My Lai Massacre: A Military Crime of Obedience, Herbert C. Kelman, a professor of social ethics, and V. Lee Hamilton, a sociologist, discuss how the practice of authorization, routinization, and dehumanization are employed to carry out unethical actions similar to the My Lai Massacre. The American Law assumes that subordinates should be obeying orders; however, when linked to obeying superiors, moral principles become inoperative. Erich Fromm, a psychoanalyst, and the author of Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem, explains how the different types of mindset and authorities can be noticeably effective in whether one is obedient.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As US military expert Rod Powers explains how those who are military members who fail to obey their superiors risk serious consequences in Military Orders , and could relate to why Dawson and Downey were convicted for their crimes (Power). Required to follow orders, a soldier does not need to obey an unlawful order, but those who obey can be pinned with criminal prosecution and in this case, it matches with Dawson and Downey s situation where they taped and tied up Santiago (Power). Fromm can conclude that irrational authority is used by using a comparison between a slave and their master; the superior wants the best they can draw from their subordinate and tries to exploit them, leading them to control with force (Fromm 126). When it comes to deciding whether or not an order is ethical, it is also the soldier s call to believe the legitimacy of the order; according to Saul McLeod, who is a psychologist and the author of Obedience to Authority, obedience is a form of social influence by responding to a direct order from another individual (McLeod). Although Col. Jessup urged for no one to touch Santiago, Kendricks directly ordered Dawson and Downey to treat him with a Code Red, going against Col. Jessup s orders. Numerous situations occur where two people will discuss the same topic, but would contradict each other. It is easy to say I was only following orders to justify one s self to explain their reasoning, but that statement, also known as the Nuremberg Defense, is not going to save a person every time. Yes, Dawson and Downey were only following orders, but did they ever take a moment to question whether it was the right action and for a sensible reason? Probably not in consideration that it is a routine to follow a command because if they deny their superior s order, many consequences will follow. Kelman and Hamilton logically claimed that

Do you think of something like a zombie, or Dracula, or do you think of the people that you might pass on the streets everyday that might have murdered someone just minutes before? Do you think that a monster can change it s personality? What do you think goes through a monsters mind? What leads them to be as bad as they are sought out to be? Can a monster only be a monster or is there more to it than what the naked eye can see? A monster in literacy is something unhuman, tall, discolored, incredibly strong, feared by society. This is the thing that you are told around the campfire while you were at summer camp. This is the thing you are told you will read and dread when you get to high school. Monsters also exist elsewhere. They are our own brains, the things our brains conjure up while staring out of the window of your classroom when you should be paying attention to the lecture. Monsters are the people who we hope are locked up behind bars for the rest of their lives. They are the people that make the country go into a panic.
