Quality Improvement Analysis
From the article we read about Toyota I loved the quote; You can t solve problems unless you
admit them (Fishman, 2006). To me this is what quality improvement is all about. I would apply
principles of quality improvement in my current practice a few different ways. First, I would look
at the big picture. What needs to be changed? How can I take better care of my patients? After
answering these questions implementing new techniques would need to occur. Lastly, I would
make sure that my team and myself were all on the same page. Every team member needs to know
what is going on and the objectives we are trying to meet in the long run. At Toyota, there is a
presumption of imperfection. Perfection is a fine goal, but improvement is much more realistic,
much more human (Fisher, 2006).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If I were to apply our design of quality improvement to where I plan on working using Roger s
Diffusion of Innovation Theory I would use his five elements to help me along. According to
Rogers there are five elements of a new or substitute clinical behaviour that will each partly
determine whether adoption or diffusion of a new activity will occur: relative advantage,
compatibility, complexity, trialability and observability (Sanson Fisher, 2004). Michelle and I
decided hiring new nurses and using existing float nurses would improve compliance rates because
there would be a smaller patient to nurse ratio. Before applying our design I would take Roger s
five elements into consideration when approaching staff about a quality improvement project
because ultimately how well the design works is based off staff accomplishment. This approach is
compatible to current unit needs and can be easily adopted. We plan to do an audit quarterly to see
if our new approach is improving compliance rates on the unit and is meeting the Joint Commissions

Summary Of Isaac Asimov s A Loint Of Paw
All writers life experiences are showcased throughout their stories; Isaac Asimov is no exception.
Asimov is one of the world s most respected science fiction authors. He was born in the village of
Petrovichi, Russia. His parents were both literate and well educated. Asimov s parents wanted
him to be as well educated as them, so they moved to Brooklyn, New York when he was only
three years old. Isaac Asimov s A Loint of Paw reflects his life, his intellect, and the science fiction
genre as a whole. Asimov was widely known as one of the Big Three science fiction writers.
Asimov s writing career began in 1938, while he was still an undergraduate, with the publication
of his science fiction story Marooned off Vesta (Badertscher 1). Asimov proceeded to receive his
Master of Arts degree at Columbia University in 1939, and later on earned a doctorate in
biochemistry in 1948 (Blackwood 1). Asimov wrote over five hundred books in his life, these
included fiction, mystery, autobiographies, and nonfiction (Blackwood 1). From the late 1950 s
to the 1970 s, Asimov published many books on popular science. With his works in science
fiction he became very popular at science fiction conventions. Asimov achieved many things in
his life including the Nebula Grand Master award because of his science fiction writing. Sadly,
Asimov died from heart and kidney failure in 1992 which can be linked to him acquiring HIV from
a triple bypass in 1977. Asimov s life is shown in A Loint of Paw

Types And Diagnosis Of Depression
In a world today where antidepressant medications seem to be handed out like candy, could it be
that not every person who says they are depressed needs medication? Is a full on antidepressant
the best solution for a person who is displaying the symptoms of a very mild form of depression?
In order to explore this topic more fully, we must establish the definition and diagnosis of
depression. According to the DSM V, depression is defined and diagnosed with at least five of
the following symptoms during a two week period: Depressed most of the day, nearly every day
Markedly diminished interest or pleasure in all or almost all activities most of the day nearly
every day Significant weight loss/gain or increase/decrease in appetite when no dieting is present
Insomnia or hypersomnia nearly every day Psychomotor agitation or retardation nearly every day
Fatigue or loss of energy nearly every day Feelings of worthlessness or excessive or inappropriate
guilt Diminished ability to think, concentrate, or indecisiveness nearly every day Recurrent
thoughts of death, recurrent suicidal ideation without a specific plan, or suicideattempt or a specific
plan for committing suicide
These symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other
important areas of functioning. The symptoms are not due to the direct physiological effects of a
substance or a general medical condition (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).

Carbon Monoxide Research Paper
In Superior Wisconsin, the CO alarm of a neighbor could have saved two people over the holiday
season. Two individuals had been sickened as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, and they had
to be taken to the Superior hospital, where they had been listed as stable. When firefighters
responded to the call about carbon monoxide, they learned of the deadly carbon monoxide levels
inside the apartment building located on the 1500 block of Broadway.
During the initial monitoring, they found low levels of carbon monoxide. Around five parts per
million within the hallway of the apartment, but one apartment on the first floor had excess levels
that reached above 70 ppm. During further investigation, firefighters discovered that a
malfunctioning furnace was the culprit for the higher levels of CO. To make matters worse, the
carbon monoxide detector had the battery removed, which could have proven a fatal mistake if the
neighboring apartment had not had a detector that triggered the alarm. It alerted everyone within
that building that high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, you should have a CO alarm, and you should pay attention to it. Also, test the
batteries regularly to guarantee that it continues to operate. Always pay attention to the CO
alarm. If it starts to sound off, leave your residence and call 911 immediately. Mike Tomczak
noticed that around 2 am, his dog started to act funny, and he knew that something was not right.
When he walked out, he saw that his dog had his nose by the door, and he thought it meant that
his dog needed some fresh air. It was not long after this that Tomczak and two other tenant began
to feel nauseous. The result? The furnace in their apartment facility had started to leak 70 parts

A Brief Note On The First Industrial Robot
Robots are interesting because they exist as a real technology that you can really study you can
get a degree in robotics and they also have all this pop culture real estate that they take up in
people s minds. (Daniel H. Wilson). The first industrial robot was created in 1956 by an inventor
named George Charles Devol. An industrial robot consist of rigid links that are connected by
mechanical joints. Many types of industrial robots are capable of doing different things from one
another like the Cartesian, which is limited to do x and y movements. The Polar, which has an arm
connected to the base with a twisting joint, is used for spot welding, handling machines, etc. The

John Tammy states Robots will ultimately be the biggest job creators simply because
aggressive automation will free us up to do new work by virtue of it erasing toil that was once
essential ( Why Robots Will Be The Biggest Job Creators In World History par.3). According to
John Tammy robots will be the biggest reason why many people will have jobs. Robots will
create a lot of jobs for employees that will free them from doing hard labor. When labor is hard
and it can cause employees to be exhausted which results from them to slow down production
which is bad for the company. Without robots, employees are stuck with doing hard and even
time consuming labor which can slow down production. Industrial robots can help a lot of
companies make labor less harsh. In the future, Robotic Technology will have an impact on
industries by creating new jobs. Bill Lydon states Automation has allowed us to compete on a
global basis and it has created jobs in Southwest Michigan. If it had not been for automation we
would not have beaten our Japanese, Chinese, and Mexican competitors ( IFR Press Release 1).
This quote shows that robots not only help companies create more employment, they can also help
companies beat competitors. Which are very beneficial to them because it can help companies build
a good reputation because of the quality and popularity of their products. Robotic Technology can

Healthy And Outdoor Sports
Nowadays, everyone is heading towards the route of being healthy. Everything that relates to health
and being healthy is the main objective for societies these days. This includes participating in
outdoor activities or sports as well. It is agreed that outdoor sports are fun, enjoyable and also could
help in maintaining a good health, and it is supported by the proverb given by John F. Kennedy
that Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body. It is the basis
of dynamic and creative intellectual activity . Besides that, (Kapoor, 2014) also agreed that
outdoor games is essential in upholding good health within oneself. Hence, if it is seen from the
right angle, these outdoor sports could be source for exercise, recreation as well as adventure. As
we know, children or even adults would prone to do something that is fun and enjoyable compared
to a routine work; so that is the reasonwhy outdoor sport is the best activity to be take part in.
Apart from that, (Hoefs, 2015) proclaimed that sports ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Signs And Symptoms Of Psychological Abuse
Psychological abuse also known as emotional abuse is when someone affects the emotional and
social aspect of someone s life. It is a pattern of behaviors by caregivers that interferes with
cognitive, emotional, psychological, and social development. In other words it is when someone
does something intentionally to hurt the emotional aspects of another person.
What are the signs/symptoms of psychological abuse?
Unlike physical abuse, psychological abuse often goes on without being noticed. Psychological
abuse can be seen in the forms of ignoring, rejecting, isolating, corrupting, verbally assaulting,
terrorizing, and neglecting. Ignoring the child would include not being present to respond to a
child and not calling the child by name. Rejection would consist denying the needs of a child and
/or refusing to have physical contact such as holding the child. Isolating the child would be refusing
to allow the child to socially interact with people and limiting the child s ability to move around.
Corrupting the child would be when someone teaches encourages/forces them to perform in illegal
manners. Verbal abuse can include and is not limited to shaming, belittling, yelling, name calling,
and threatening the child. Terrorizing would include the inferior adult to create fear within the
child. Neglect is refusing to provide the basic needs for the child such as medical, physical,
emotional, and educational. Children who face psychological abuse show signs of feeling unhappy,

Civil Rights Case Study
Throughout American history the United States Supreme Court has seen a multitude Civil Rights
cases. Criminal Rights is the branch of Civil Rights cases that will be evaluated in this paper.
Criminal Rights cases date back to the early twentieth century, and the majority of Criminal Rights
cases are over 5th, 6th and 14th Amendment rights. These cases are important to the public because
anyone could commit a crime. The people of the U.S deserve rights under any circumstances even
if they are criminals. Regarding the issue of Criminal Rights, the US Supreme Court remained
mostly conservative as to how criminals in trial should be treated. The continuing issue is examined

Arizona (1963). Ernesto Miranda was arrested in his house and brought to the police station
where he was questioned by police officers in connection with a kidnapping and rape. Despite two
hours of police interrogation, Miranda was never advised of his right to attorney and defended
himself in court. The jury found Miranda guilty. The Supreme Court argued if the Fifth
Amendment s protection against self incrimination extends to the police interrogation of a suspect
(Oyez). Chief Justice Earl Warren delivered the majority opinion that the suspect must be aware
that anything he says can be used against him in a court of law and that if at any point her requests
an attorney there will be no further questioning until the attorney arrives (Oyez). In comparison to
the precedent cases Miranda v. Arizona (1963) stayed true to original court rulings. All three court
cases ruled that a defendant has a right to an attorney and must be provided one if they can not
provide one on their own. The only difference with Miranda v. Arizona (1963) is the court ruled the
defendant must be read their Miranda Rights, or their right to remain silent before interrogation
with an attorney present. The addition of Miranda Rights to establish guidelines for how detained

3d Printing And Its Effects
Introduction
3D printing has been quoted by the Financial Times and from other sources as, Possibly being
bigger than the internet (Jun 21, 2012). The earliest 3D printing technologies first became visible in
the late 1980 s. There are multiple different types of 3D printing technologies, which process
different materials in unique ways to create the desired object. Since the emergence of 3D printing,
developments and improvements to the process and the materials has greatly expanded the various
applications. 3D printing was invented as a means of speeding up the early stages of product
development, using simple material, and multiple applications.

Because of these advancements, like most technology, it soon made its way into the hands of the
consumers. In 2007 the first system under $10,000 was made by 3D Systems. However, it wasn t
until January 2009 that the first commercially available 3D printer was offered for sale.
3D Printing Technologies There are multiple different types of 3D printing technologies, which
process different materials in unique ways to create the desired object. Before you read on let
us first learn some basics about 3D printing, which will be explained later in greater detail. The
starting point for any 3D printing process is a 3D digital model, which can be created using a
variety of 3D software programs. The only limitations to 3D printing is the amount of material
you have. The most common and recognized material would be plastics, Ex. PLA and ABS.
When using plastics, the process is as follows: extruding the material in filament form through a
heated extruder to form layers and create the predetermined shape. Because parts can be printed
directly, it is possible to produce very detailed and intricate objects. As well as technology, there are
multiple processes for 3D printing. The very first being Stereolithography (SL). SL is a very
accurate laser based process that works with photopolymer resins (see picture one). Next is Digital
Light Processing (DLP), which is similar to SL in the aspect of photopolymers. The only major
difference/advantage between the two is that DLP only

Speech On Birth Control Pills
In 1950, Gregory Pincus and John Rock developed the first birth control pill. The pill is made of
synthetic hormones like the ones that occur naturally in your body. Women can regulate their
cycle, manage family size, and reduce the risk of ovarian cancer with the birth control pill.
Before safe and effective contraception was developed women in ancient times used their own
forms of barriers to prevent pregnancy. These included potions, charms, herbal recipes, and
chants. These recipes were mostly made of harsh materials that killed many women trying to
control their fertility. Later birth control developments were based on more accurate information
concerning conception says essayempire.com. According to kidshealth.org, the birth control pill
is a daily pill that contains hormones to change the body in order to prevent pregnancy. The
hormones in the pill, estrogen and progestin, control the ovaries and the uterus. The pill prevents
pregnancy by stopping ovulation, thickening the mucus around the cervix, and thinning the
lining of the uterus. Birth control pills come in either a twenty one day pack or a twenty eight
day pack. One pill is taken each day around the same time for twenty one days. Depending on the
pack a woman is prescribed, she will either stop taking birth control pills for seven days or will take
a pill that contains no hormones for seven days. During those seven days a woman will get her
period. There are two different kinds of pills. The

Father s Roles And Society In Fools Crow By James Welch
Not all Boys Grow up to be like their Father As the United States expands westward in the late
1800 s, Native American tribes that live on these frontier lands, are often feared ,misunderstood,
and despised by white settlers who want to move onto the new lands. In Fools Crow by James

Pikunis tribe and its people as they confront new white settlers and its impact on their society and
culture. Blackfoot society in the late 1800 s is a patriarchal society that is led by chiefs, braves, and

The bicyclic lactone to be generated was cis 1,3,3a,4,5,7a Hexahydro 5 methyl 3 oxo 4
isobenzofuran carboxylic Acid and was produced using a Diels Alder reaction. The product was
also analyzed quantitatively using percent yield. To prepare the Diels Alder adduct 0.40 g of 2,4
hexadien 1 ol was added to a flask, then 5.00 mL of toluene and 0.40 g of maleic anhydride were
added to the flask in that order. The mixture was warmed and stirred to induce a reaction. The

conducted for the two starting materials and of the product. Melting point determination was
performed on the product and proton NMR spectrum was given. The IR spectrum revealed
peaks at 1720 cm 1, which indicated the presence of a lactone group, and 1730 cm 1,
representing a functional group of a carboxylic acid (C=O), and 3300cm 1, indicating the
presence of an alcohol group (O H). All three peaks correspond with the desired product. A second
TLC using the same mobile and stationary phase as the first was performed and revealed Rf
Values of 0.17 and 0.43for the product. The first value was unique to the product indicating that the
Diels Alder reaction was successful. The other Rf value of 0.43 matched that of maleic anhydride

Diversity in Three Voices
Diversity in Three Voices Scientist When working with individuals from different cultures,
individuals informally learn the differences that exist between them and their respective cultures
(DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). Often the word diversity is confused with political correctness
or human equality but it is the understanding of differences between people and how they interact.
Diversity is defined as the quality of being different but composed of distinct elements or qualities
(Parvis, 2005, p. 15). Throughout history the United States has been known as the melting pot, but
this concept was a perception not a reality because the melting pot ended up benefiting only white,
prominent settlers. Looking at diversity is observing differences and there are a lot of them. For
example, male versus female, religion versus no religion, homosexual versus heterosexual, foreign
or domestic, republican versus democrat, Caucasian versus African American, Mexican versus
Latino, Cherokee Indian versus Choctaw Indian, poor versus rich; and differences could
encompass several more pages. We can deny that differences exist or we can consent to differences
while discovering from others the assets of dissimilarity. People must learn, therefore, to recognize
differences in others their backgrounds, customs, and work schedules and appreciate, even
celebrate, those differences (DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). Artist When it is blatantly obvious

Human Consciousness
Before one can establish a morally permissible approach to creating an artificial human like
intelligence, the origin of human consciousness must be determined in order to find a viable
method of recreation. It would then become evident that problem of morality in conscious
machines lies not in the method of its construction, as it is the necessary means to an end, but the
act of creation itself as well as the upbringing of the machine comparable to that of a human being.
Prior to the development of consciousness, according to Julian Jaynes, was the structure known as
the bicameral mind. He argued that the cognitive function of a human being was vastly different

This leaves people with a practical limitation: what we call consciousness would have to derive
from within the human cognitive functions. Arthur Koestler has boiled the process of creation
down to a mechanical system he termed bisociation , in which two previously unrelated matrices
of experience are combined, and a new understanding of a situation is established. As
Archimedes cried eureka, the common occurrence of the water rising was combined with the
problem he was tasked to solve, and so came the solution of the displacement of water should be
of equal volume as the crown. What Koestler hadn t expected, however, is the ubiquitous nature
far beyond what he proposed. At birth, the human brain knows only the basic biological instincts
necessary for survival. But as it grows, new knowledge and experiences are accumulated to form a
fundamental baseline for the bisociation process. Considering the variables involved in even the
simplest of real life circumstances, it is unrealistic to expect any one portion of the baseline to
resemble the situation exactly. This baseline, therefore, can only define a standardized version of
situations and the appropriate reactions associated with it. The process of bisociation is then
necessary for the improvisation of a response in accordance. Unlike Jaynes theory that

Dbq Appeasement Research Paper
Appeasement was not the right policy for Britain in 1938 because without this policy, Britain and
France could have stopped Hitler and World War 2 from occuring.
The appeasement policy was not ideal for Europe. It proved to allow Hitler opportunities to gain
control over most of Europe. Winston Churchill, a politician and army leader, stated that, I have
always held the view that the maintenance of peace depends upon the accumulation of deterrents
against the aggressor, coupled with a sincere effort to redress grievances. (Document B). Churchill
believed that if France or Britain put in an effort to strategize and stop Germany, they would have
prevented Germany from invading Czechoslovakia. Churchill also further states that, ... I ventured
to ... pledge that in conjunction with France and other powers they would guarantee the security of
Czechoslovakia ... and I still believe that if that course had been followed events would not have
fallen to this disastrous state... (Document B). This shows how Europe had many chance to stop
Hitler by working together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They let Germany do as it pleased to a certain extent in hopes that Germany would stop after they
were satisfied. Although though the effects on Europe from World War 1 were devastating,
France and Britain had rearmed enough to have beaten Germany if they were at war again. This is
revealed when George F. Kennan, a historian and American diplomat claims that, We know today
that is was unnecessary ... because the Czech defenses were very strong... and because the German

Europe had the potential to stop Germany and Hitler and also preventing World War 2. But
because of the appeasement policy, Britain and France didn t do anything and let Germany invade
and take land. This allowed Hitler to attempt to take over most of Europe, ultimately causing world

Facts That Were Wrong In The Movie Kingdom Of Heaven
This essay is about the facts that were wrong in the movie Kingdom of Heaven. Most of the
information in the movie was almost right except for a few things. I will talk about how some of
the weapons were not used or even invented at the time. Also, How the geographical differences
were in the movie from real life at the time. Last, I will talk about the differences about Balian,
the main character. The movie was placed around the time period of the second crusade. The
movie was good, but had a lot of false information. First off is the weapons during the second
crusade. In the movie, longbows were being used, but the longbow was not invented at the time of
the second crusade. The book said, In the 12th century , was when the longbow was

The Correlation Between Maximization And False Confessions
Minimization and maximization interrogation techniques are two categories that are widely used in
order to gain a confession. However, maximization techniques are misrepresented and it is believed
that they are used in order to scare suspects into confessing, and may even include evidence that was
manufactured by the interrogator, which could lead to false confessions (Russano, Meissner,
Narchet, Kassin, 2005). This is not the case. Maximization techniques are used as a way to obtain a
confession once the interrogator is certain that the suspect is indeed guilty. This can include a
variety of different tactics, but can not include direct threats or manufactured evidence. This
misconception about maximization techniques also does not take into account that the court will
not accept a confession if they see it as being induced by a number of things, including direct
promises, and threats or actual harm. As Kassin et al., (2010) explain, maximization is usually
combined with minimization, and that maximization is usually the last resort in order to reduce the

Neil Simon Reflection
Intelligence and emotion sure do have their boundaries, but when they lie in the palm of your
hands, being able to grasp them comes at an obstacle, especially when you re saving a town from
a curse or writing an essay to the teacher who just directed the play you re writing about. At
Bartlett High School on November 3, 2017, I watched a play called Fools by Neil Simon. Fools is
about a determined, young schoolteacher named Leon Tolchinsky who travels to the village of
Kulyenchikov and teaches Sophia Zubritsky, the daughter of the only doctor within the village. As
he arrives, he meets a handful of people, including a something, something shepherd, postman,
butcher, and vendor, and discovers that the towns lack of intelligence was due to a two hundred year
old spell that has the ability to be broken by the intelligence or marriage of Sophia. With
Kulyenchikov s fate in Leon s hand, he and his growing love for her attempts to teach Sophia in
order to avoid letting her go to be married by Count Gregor and saving the village from lost
knowledge forever. While going in to watch this play, I had very low expectations because I ve
always been the person who believed any theatrical performances in schools where you don t know
anything about the story beforehand is not going to be as great. Once those two hours passed by, I
was enthralled with this play. From the loveable characters, the terrific acting, the simple set design,
and the never ending humor, it was a play I certainly

Dr. Strangelove Satire
What will happen if a nuclear bomb explodes during the Cold War? Will the world be set on
track to chaos? The answer to these two questions can be found in the 60 s classic, a movie that
depicts an imaginary nuclear war between the USSR and the USA, Dr. Strangelove (1964). Direted
by Stanley Kubrick and filmed during the height of the Cold War, Dr. Strangelove is a political
satire that reflects the tension between the two superpowers at the time through its satirical plot and
ironical lines. On the surface, Dr. Strangelove conveys how the explosion of a nuclear bomb
triggers a chain of hilarious reactions from the two superpowers. However, through the three forms
of satire: monologues, parodies, and narratives, the film enables its viewers to not only question

Satire is a common literature technique when used correctly unveils a certain degree of truth
beneath the apparent context. As Gilbert Highet points out in the chapter Introduction to Satire
of Anatomy of Satire satire is the most original, challenging, memorable forms (of literature)
(Highet 3). It is a form in which a character, an incident or a setting are held up to ridicule. Satire
frequently uses irony or sarcasm to illustrate the author s view on some modern day issues.
According to Highet, satire can be one of three forms: monologues, parodies, and narratives.
Monologue is a form of satire that focuses on the satirist himself whom is often the main focus
of the picture. The satirist states his opinion on an issue and allows himself to be ridiculed by
the viewers. Parody is a form of satire that conceals itself form the viewers. It can be an imitation
of a certain type of character or role model. The original character that parody tends to imitate is
usually one that possesses a solemn and serious personality. By emulating and sometimes over
stressing details in the original role, parody not only produces

Comparing The Kid And Iron Jawed Angels
New and exciting technologies have always played a huge role in the culture of American
people. When the motion picture came out it was no surprise that both consumers and producers
were more than happy to get in on the action. Back in the 1920 s film was still pretty new and
was only in black and white with no sound, but the films were always accompanied by orchestral
pieces to help set the mood. The art of movie making has come a long way since then with the
addition of not only color and audio, but new techniques and new ideas. Both The Kid and Iron
Jawed Angels are very popular films about the early 1900 s. Although they share some common
thoughts, but because they were made in two completely different time periods their focuses are...

nothing alike. They were both accurate in their portrayal of the time period in which the movies

the eyes of a man. This man has a kid and is living a poorer life than most, and his main concern
in life is to just make it through the day. Considering that unemployment was just starting to take a
dramatic rise in America, and that the living conditions were very poor, The Kid is a great
representation of the time period in its own way. In Iron Jawed Angels the filmis being portrayed

Examples Of Anglo Saxon Values In Beowulf
Anglo Saxon Values Essay Riddle and Epic story telling were introduced to the medieval culture
by the Anglo Saxon tribes. Generally the stories were passed down by word of mouth and were
rarely written down. One of their famous tales was the story of Beowulf. The story consists of an
epic hero who is asked by the Danes to defeat Grendel, a sin stained demon who is terrorizing the
town of Herot. With super human strength, Beowulfwas able to vanquish Grendel. Grendel s
mother, seeking revenge for her dead son, came after Beowulf. Validating his strength, Beowulf
defeats Grendel s mother with determination and the idea of glory. Beowulf was crowned king
and reign for 50 years until treasures were stolen from the dragon which caused cities to burn.
The king, old and weak had to fight the dragon leading to his death. Fate, kinship, and fame were
all ideas that were embodied by the Anglo Saxons and expressed verbally and physically in the epic

Analysis Of The Twilight Saga
The Cullen Family: More than just Blood Sucking Vampires
The Twilight Saga, by Stephanie Meyer, has been viewed as a narrative of either teenage lust or
romantic love characterized by Bella, a private seventeen year old girl, and Edward, a
mysterious vampire who goes to Bella s high school; Yet no one has credited the Cullen s in the
full light they deserve, in the way that they display family loyalty, self control, and altruism
among their family of vampires. The book series infatuated the hearts of teenage girls across the
world, and even expanded upon those horizons to reach an audience so wide that the book series
became a household name. Critics have endlessly discussed the love, or lust, of the two individuals
and are fascinated by the fact that the TwilightSaga falls not just in the genre of romance, but also
in the supernatural/ horror category. Maple, in an article that discusses this barrier breaking love
that Bella and Edward display, states throughout the story Bella and Edward share an unorthodox
relationship, a love above and beyond all others: something more expressive of eternal
commitment (Maple). Maple emphasizes how deep and rare the love between the two adolescents
is, and I would argue that human s innate desire for this kind of love is one of the main reasons
why Twilight became so widespread. However, another basis for the obsession of the books is
simply because The Cullen s, the family in which Edward belongs to, represent vampires in a

A Room Of One s Own Analysis
A Room of One s Own is a novel written by Virginia Woolf. In the story, Woolf is arguing that
women need money, privacy, and education to write successfully. Throughout her essay, she
analyzes several different female figures from the past and during her own time to give her
argument leverage. One of these figures is a fictional character named Judith Shakespeare, a sister
to William Shakespeare. Even though Judith is fictional, she is necessary to A Room of One s Own.
The main focus of A Room of One s Own is to demonstrate that women need money, privacy, and
an education to write works of good quality. This is directly stated in the very beginning, All I
could do was to offer you an opinion upon one minor point a woman must have money and a
room of her own if she is to write fiction; (Woolf, A Room of One s Own). Woolf does not believe
that society has changed enough from the 1500s for women to write successfully. In order to prove
her point, she begins the novel by analyzing Judith, a woman who had absolutely no resources.
Judith Shakespeare, unlike famous writers such as Jane Austen, is unable to achieve any of her
dreams because of the circumstances of her life. In order to further the idea that the problem
regarding female writers is lack of resources and not lack of talent, Woolf writes that Judith and
Shakespeare had the same amount of talent, as seen here, She was as adventurous, as imaginative,
as agog to see the world as he [William Shakespeare] was (Woolf, A

Synthetic Fibers And Its Effects On The Body
2.2.2.2Elastic fibres
Elastic fibres are 1 Вµm to 3Вµm in diameter and are loosely arranged in all directions in the
dermis [90]. These fibres are scattered among the collagen bundles and become thicker in the
deeper layers of the dermis [90]. Elastic fibres, as their name indicates, are extremely elastic and
help in the elastic recoil of the skin and that is the reason why they are more abundant in the dermis
of the face, scalp and the extensible organs, such as tendons and arteries [91, 92].
2.2.2.3Extrafibrillar matrix
The extrafibrillar matrix includes a ground substance (glycosaminoglycans), dermal fibroblasts,
dendritic cells, mast cells, histiocytes, blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatics [85]. Ground substance
is a gelatinous amorphous substance of sugar and proteins (glycoproteins and proteoglycans) that is
observed between the fibres and between the cells. It provides support to the dermis and has an
extraordinary capacity to store water. Moreover, it facilitates the passage of nutrients, hormones,
and other molecules through the dermis [72, 73].
Fibroblasts, the major cell type of the dermis, produce and maintain most of the ECM proteins.
Indeed, they produce collagen, elastic fibres, and glycosaminoglycan [93]. The dermal fibroblasts
are differentiated from the mesenchymal cells and appear as thin spindle shaped cells. The dermis
includes other types of cell such histiocytes, mast cells and dermal dendritic cells. Histiocytes are
star shaped cells with a small

Federal Form Of Government In The United States
Federal government has been the form of government used in our country since the ratification of
the Constitution in 1788. A federalist government lies between both unitary and confederal
systems. Utilizing many aspects of both forms of government, the founders of our country took
keystone ideas from many renowned political theorists. These ideas formed our government
through a system of checks and balances giving the people the power for change, without putting
too much power in the national or states governments. Through our federal form of government
there are many positive aspects not found in unitary or confederal countries. As the United Statesis
such a large country it would be impractical to attempt to have a powerful central authority.

San Francisco Is A Major City Of California And The United...
San francisco is a major city of California and the United States as a whole. A city with this much
power generally sets the score for other counties to follow. When San francisco undermines justice
with institutional biases, they set a dangerous example for others to follow. While San Francisco
has shown great strides to improve itself internally and externally, there are still major issues that
need to be addressed, specifically in their incarceration system. San Francisco has created a system
where minorities are more susceptible to being imprisoned due to the city s precarious handling of
funds.
The San Francisco prison system hosted 1,556 citizens in the year 2013.[1] During that exact year,
56% of those citizens incarcerated were of African Americandescent, in a city where African
Americans make up a mere 6% of the total population.[1,2] Compare that to the city s majority race,
caucasians, who make up 41.6% of the city as a whole and accounted for only 22% percent of all
prisoners.[1,2] Looking at these statistics it could be assumed that racism is playing a role in this,
however there is one key factor that is so often lost when issues of race flare up. This factor is of
course, money.
San francisco has been the host of recent major technological booms which have brought increased
revenue into the city, but who s pockets is this money falling into? People often claim that police
and government officials target minorities, and while there is truth to this, would

prompts them to take control of the relationship and their partner in order to feel better about
themselves. The criticism that they carry for themselves, usually as a result of insecurities, can
cause them to project it onto their domestic partners in many cases in order to relieve the
negativity that they feel about themselves. In the movie Provoked, the initial incident of
domestic abuse begins when Deepak becomes jealous of Kiranjit s interactions with another

Theme Of Symbolism In Heart Of Darkness

Climate Analysis On Climate Archives
There is significant evidence from studies based on climate archives that the Earth s climate
about 10 000 years ago was very different from the present climate; it has changed a lot since the
last glacial period which ended about 10 000 12 000 years ago (Chappell, 1998). Hence, about
10 000 years ago the Earth was buried under ice sheets and it was much cooler than present
temperatures (see Figure 1, Appendix) (Chappell, 1998). The Earth that has been cycling between

(Introduction: Coral Reefs, 2015). They have a long lifetime and rapid growth which makes them
ideal climate archives for studying the past climate (Ocean Circulation and Climate Dynamics,

sea floor fossils are often found in sediment cores and can reveal a variety of things about the past
climate through ocean currents, temperature and oxygen ratios. Also these fossils are the most
common source of paleoceanographic proxies, making them easily available (Kucera, 2007).
Hence, foraminifera or sea floor fossils are an ideal climate archives for studying the past climate
from about 10 000 years ago alongside corals. Information about the past climate can not only help

Characteristics Of A High Concept Play
There are many characteristics to making a high concept play. High concept plays should have
pitches that are original and unique in concept, appealing to the audience, specific in details of the
story, obvious in potential, and relatively short in length. I do not think that my play is a high
concept playbecause I do not think that it can be sold by a pitch. I think that my play must be
read thoroughly to understand the concept of the play. I think that my play will take a more
traditional approach because it does not meet any of the requirements of a high concept play.
Specific interpretation is what the audience members associate with what they have observed in a
play. This play is about a girl that is fighting for her life and her family that must learn how to cope
with her loss in the end. Penny is the main characterof the play, and from the beginning of the play,
the plot and the rest of the characters revolve around her and her life. The play is meant to make
the audience think about the importance of the ones that are closest to them and how precious
life really is. There are several genres of theatricality that a play could be classified as. The main
types of plays are comedies, dramas, and tragedies. A comedy is a play that is usually light and
amusing that has a happy ending. A drama is a play that deals with middle or lower class
characters, and it is usually serious. A tragedyis a play that deals with tragic events, and it has an

Finding the time and resources to keep Twitter updated can often be a challenge for the average
business owner. So I m always on the look out for tools that can help with the process and take
away a lot of the grunt work.
One way to do this is through the use of RSS or content feeds. RSS stands for Really Simple
Syndication . An RSS feed is basically a file containing syndicated content that s readable by
software.
For example, most blogs have RSS feeds automatically built in (yourblog.com/feed if it s on
WordPress), along with a lot of other sites such as YouTube and SlideShare.
This can make the use of RSS very useful in keeping your Twitter account updated with relevant
content, while leaving you free to make other updates, engage with your followers, and so on.
So how can you use RSS feeds to help power your Twitter account? Here are 3 different ways to
approach it.

The United States And The 21st Century Essay
Today, in the 21st century, English has become one of the most used languages around the world. It
is so widely used that linguists have considered it to be the new lingua franca . Along with its
language the United States is one of the most influential countries around the globe. There is no
denying its presence in everything from international politics to entertainment. In fact, it is thought
to be the only country that rivals the world s once great empires in terms of its global impact. In an
article written by Mclean, she proclaims, the U.S dominates world politics by providing the
language, ideas, and institutional frameworks around which much of the world turns (2). However,
the United Statesdid not just become an imperial power over night. From the middle of the 19th
century till present time the U.S has been intervening in foreign lands. One country that has been
immensely influenced by English colonization, to present day, is the Island of the Philippines.
Whether it was consciously or not, the control of the Philippines by U.S after the Spanish
American War was a small step towards world power. A brief look into Philippines history shows
how much different the island would ve been without English rule. Although the Philippines were

Texas Natural Disasters
Residents of the Lone Star State are fond of saying that everything is bigger in Texas, from football
teams to marching bands, farmers markets to barbecue favorites. But a corollary to that oft spoken
refrain is everything is better in Texas as well. After all, the state was the second most inbound
location for families who moved in 2015, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and for eight
consecutive years, Harris County maintained the distinction as the U.S. county with the most
significant annual population growth.
All that being said, the storms that sweep through the Lone Star State are similarly noteworthy,
both for the amount of destruction they cause, and the way in which residents and officials come
together to help those affected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Home insurance helps to offset the cost, but after filing a claim, policyholders often see their
premiums rise. For Texas residents, however, this isn t a concern. In fact, Texas is one of only
two states the other being Rhode Island that earned a five star rating from Rutgers University
Law School. Legislation on the books in Texas prevents insurers from raising premiums
improperly or from canceling policies, a practice often referred to as Use It and Lose It. Eighteen
states don t have any legislation that defend homeowners from Use It and Lose It procedures.

Edvard Munch s The Scream
The 1893 painting The Scream , painted by Edvard Munch is very captivating. This painting
makes me feel the true emotion Edvard is feeling. At first, I see the dark dull colours in the
gloomy scenery but then I can look past that and see such a warm fiery red orange sky. I love the
details in this panting from the people in the background to the organic strokes of the paintbrush
exhibiting a different shade with every stroke. However, I cannot help but wonder why? Why is
this human screaming or are they human? Maybe it is a representation of someone s inner demon
or thoughts just shouting to get out. In spite of that, I think not knowing the true meaning of this
painting is the beauty of it.
There are many elements/principles of art shown in this painting. The painting is filled with many
wavy smooth lines that help signify the movement of the water. The use of complementary colours
in the background help emphasis the focal point, the screaming person. I think this painting is a cry
for help; the person screaming is a representation of the Edvard Munch. He ... Show more content

Edvard Munch actually created four different versions of this painting using different materials. In
addition, the original copy of the scream has been a target of various high profile art thefts. Munch
discovered his inspiration for this painting while walking along the road with two friends...the sky
turned blood red...I stood there trembling with anxiety...I sensed an infinite scream passing
through nature. After learning the inspiration for this painting, this piece intrigues me even more.
I feel that Munch expressed his ideas very well you can really see the anxiety he felt when he
saw the blood red sky and scream of nature he heard. I think that most people would interpret this
panting as sad or fearful however, that does not mean that everyone s perception will be the same. I
think the most fascinating part of this piece is that everyone can view it in a different

Happy Chang Short Story Essay
My initial reaction to this piece of literature was one of happiness. I love sports and the mostly,
the only stories I love to read have sports tied into them one way or another. The fact that the
setting took place at a baseball game was one that got me interested into the story and grabbed my
attention all the way through. With saying this, I was really confused on how this storied played
out. A jealous man that has had a rough past umpiring a championship gamethat in the end he
doesn t he finish umping? Very confusing and hard to really know why the author set up and told
the story the way he did. When they first mentioned Lori Chang on page 7, I smiled because of
what they described her as. I thoughtof a very innocent girl that is... Show more content on

Part II: Reaction after Class Discussion After the class discussion, I will have to say that I like
the story even more than a initially thought. Me liking the story more is mainly due to me
understanding the story better than I did the first time I read it. I am just an average reader and
the discussion really opened my eyes and made me realize all of the things that I didn t pick up
on or were confused about make since and all tie in to the importance of the story. A big take
away from the discussion that I did not even think about while reading the story the first time was
the fact that it was a first person point of view and that we only get Jacks perspective told us. This
made me rethink the story in a way that questioned if all the things Jack is saying is really the
truth or is he just delusional. The question of Why does Tim always side with Carl on calls that
Jack made in which Carl argued came up in class and it was discussed. I think with realizing that
the story is from Jacks perspective really exposes this question because Tim sided with Carl
multiple times in a situation that Lori Chang was supposedly throwing at their players heads
(6,11). Then I wondered why would Jack be trying to protect Lori Chang and luckily this was also
brought up in our discussion. Reading the story, the first time, I didn t pay much attention to Jacks

The Middle Of The Frankish Empire
In 772 C.E., the Carolingian ruler, Charlemagne (Charles the Great ) sought out to diminish a
growing threat in the north of the Frankish Empire. To clarify, the Saxons, a ferocious pagan
Germanic tribe, had expanded too close to Charlemagne s domain (Barbero, 2004). According to
Einhard, the little to no natural obstructions between the Franksand Saxonsresulted in arson,
invasions, and murders committed by both sides (Einhard, 122 C.E. ). These particular events
revealed the lack of security in the northern area of the Frankish Empire (Mayr Harting, 1996),
which ultimately, compelled Charlemagneto take action against the Saxons. In order to protect the
settlements and economic factors of the northern area of his empire, Charlemagne forced the
Saxons to convert to Christianity and integrated them into the Frankish Empire, thus, eliminating
the Saxon identity for self preservation.
In consonance with Henry Mayr Harting, a medieval ecclesiastical historian, Charlemagne viewed
the Saxons as a threat to the settlements and economic factors in the north of the Frankish Empire.
For instance, located in the northern region of the Frankish Empire, on the banks of the Rhine
River, were the churches of Cologne and Mainz, which were important to the Carolingian
civilization (Mayr Harting, 1996). Additionally, Rhine played a significant role in the economy of
the Frankish Empire. Between the 780s and 820s, Rhine experienced large amounts of movement
due to Rhenish imports

  • 2. Quality Improvement Analysis From the article we read about Toyota I loved the quote; You can t solve problems unless you admit them (Fishman, 2006). To me this is what quality improvement is all about. I would apply principles of quality improvement in my current practice a few different ways. First, I would look at the big picture. What needs to be changed? How can I take better care of my patients? After answering these questions implementing new techniques would need to occur. Lastly, I would make sure that my team and myself were all on the same page. Every team member needs to know what is going on and the objectives we are trying to meet in the long run. At Toyota, there is a presumption of imperfection. Perfection is a fine goal, but improvement is much more realistic, much more human (Fisher, 2006).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I were to apply our design of quality improvement to where I plan on working using Roger s Diffusion of Innovation Theory I would use his five elements to help me along. According to Rogers there are five elements of a new or substitute clinical behaviour that will each partly determine whether adoption or diffusion of a new activity will occur: relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability and observability (Sanson Fisher, 2004). Michelle and I decided hiring new nurses and using existing float nurses would improve compliance rates because there would be a smaller patient to nurse ratio. Before applying our design I would take Roger s five elements into consideration when approaching staff about a quality improvement project because ultimately how well the design works is based off staff accomplishment. This approach is compatible to current unit needs and can be easily adopted. We plan to do an audit quarterly to see if our new approach is improving compliance rates on the unit and is meeting the Joint Commissions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two individuals had been sickened as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, and they had to be taken to the Superior hospital, where they had been listed as stable. When firefighters responded to the call about carbon monoxide, they learned of the deadly carbon monoxide levels inside the apartment building located on the 1500 block of Broadway. During the initial monitoring, they found low levels of carbon monoxide. Criminal Rights is the branch of Civil Rights cases that will be evaluated in this paper. Criminal Rights cases date back to the early twentieth century, and the majority of Criminal Rights cases are over 5th, 6th and 14th Amendment rights. These cases are important to the public because anyone could commit a crime. The people of the U.S deserve rights under any circumstances even if they are criminals. Regarding the issue of Criminal Rights, the US Supreme Court remained mostly conservative as to how criminals in trial should be treated. The continuing issue is examined through Powell v. Ernesto Miranda was arrested in his house and brought to the police station where he was questioned by police officers in connection with a kidnapping and rape. Despite two hours of police interrogation, Miranda was never advised of his right to attorney and defended himself in court. The jury found Miranda guilty. The Supreme Court argued if the Fifth Amendment s protection against self incrimination extends to the police interrogation of a suspect (Oyez). Chief Justice Earl Warren delivered the majority opinion that the suspect must be aware that anything he says can be used against him in a court of law and that if at any point her requests an attorney there will be no further questioning until the attorney arrives (Oyez). In comparison to the precedent cases Miranda v. Arizona (1963) stayed true to original court rulings. All three court cases ruled that a defendant has a right to an attorney and must be provided one if they can not provide one on their own. The only difference with Miranda v. Arizona (1963) is the court ruled the defendant must be read their Miranda Rights, or their right to remain silent before interrogation with an attorney present. The earliest 3D printing technologies first became visible in the late 1980 s. There are multiple different types of 3D printing technologies, which process different materials in unique ways to create the desired object. Since the emergence of 3D printing, developments and improvements to the process and the materials has greatly expanded the various applications. 3D printing was invented as a means of speeding up the early stages of product development, using simple material, and multiple applications. Before you read on let us first learn some basics about 3D printing, which will be explained later in greater detail. The starting point for any 3D printing process is a 3D digital model, which can be created using a variety of 3D software programs. The only limitations to 3D printing is the amount of material you have. The most common and recognized material would be plastics, Ex. PLA and ABS. When using plastics, the process is as follows: extruding the material in filament form through a heated extruder to form layers and create the predetermined shape. Because parts can be printed directly, it is possible to produce very detailed and intricate objects. As well as technology, there are multiple processes for 3D printing. The very first being Stereolithography (SL). SL is a very accurate laser based process that works with photopolymer resins (see picture one). Next is Digital Light Processing (DLP), which is similar to SL in the aspect of photopolymers. The only major difference/advantage between the two is that DLP only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Speech On Birth Control Pills In 1950, Gregory Pincus and John Rock developed the first birth control pill. The pill is made of synthetic hormones like the ones that occur naturally in your body. Women can regulate their cycle, manage family size, and reduce the risk of ovarian cancer with the birth control pill. Before safe and effective contraception was developed women in ancient times used their own forms of barriers to prevent pregnancy. These included potions, charms, herbal recipes, and chants. These recipes were mostly made of harsh materials that killed many women trying to control their fertility. Later birth control developments were based on more accurate information concerning conception says essayempire.com. According to kidshealth.org, the birth control pill is a daily pill that contains hormones to change the body in order to prevent pregnancy. The hormones in the pill, estrogen and progestin, control the ovaries and the uterus. The pill prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation, thickening the mucus around the cervix, and thinning the lining of the uterus. Birth control pills come in either a twenty one day pack or a twenty eight day pack. One pill is taken each day around the same time for twenty one days. • 18. Diversity in Three Voices Diversity in Three Voices Scientist When working with individuals from different cultures, individuals informally learn the differences that exist between them and their respective cultures (DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). Often the word diversity is confused with political correctness or human equality but it is the understanding of differences between people and how they interact. Diversity is defined as the quality of being different but composed of distinct elements or qualities (Parvis, 2005, p. 15). Throughout history the United States has been known as the melting pot, but this concept was a perception not a reality because the melting pot ended up benefiting only white, prominent settlers. Looking at diversity is observing differences and there are a lot of them. For example, male versus female, religion versus no religion, homosexual versus heterosexual, foreign or domestic, republican versus democrat, Caucasian versus African American, Mexican versus Latino, Cherokee Indian versus Choctaw Indian, poor versus rich; and differences could encompass several more pages. We can deny that differences exist or we can consent to differences while discovering from others the assets of dissimilarity. Arthur Koestler has boiled the process of creation down to a mechanical system he termed bisociation , in which two previously unrelated matrices of experience are combined, and a new understanding of a situation is established. As Archimedes cried eureka, the common occurrence of the water rising was combined with the problem he was tasked to solve, and so came the solution of the displacement of water should be of equal volume as the crown. What Koestler hadn t expected, however, is the ubiquitous nature far beyond what he proposed. At birth, the human brain knows only the basic biological instincts necessary for survival. But as it grows, new knowledge and experiences are accumulated to form a fundamental baseline for the bisociation process. Considering the variables involved in even the simplest of real life circumstances, it is unrealistic to expect any one portion of the baseline to resemble the situation exactly. This baseline, therefore, can only define a standardized version of situations and the appropriate reactions associated with it. The process of bisociation is then necessary for the improvisation of a response in accordance. Unlike Jaynes theory that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Twilight Saga The Cullen Family: More than just Blood Sucking Vampires The Twilight Saga, by Stephanie Meyer, has been viewed as a narrative of either teenage lust or romantic love characterized by Bella, a private seventeen year old girl, and Edward, a mysterious vampire who goes to Bella s high school; Yet no one has credited the Cullen s in the full light they deserve, in the way that they display family loyalty, self control, and altruism among their family of vampires. The book series infatuated the hearts of teenage girls across the world, and even expanded upon those horizons to reach an audience so wide that the book series became a household name. Critics have endlessly discussed the love, or lust, of the two individuals and are fascinated by the fact that the TwilightSaga falls not just in the genre of romance, but also in the supernatural/ horror category. Maple, in an article that discusses this barrier breaking love that Bella and Edward display, states throughout the story Bella and Edward share an unorthodox relationship, a love above and beyond all others: something more expressive of eternal commitment (Maple). Maple emphasizes how deep and rare the love between the two adolescents is, and I would argue that human s innate desire for this kind of love is one of the main reasons why Twilight became so widespread. However, another basis for the obsession of the books is simply because The Cullen s, the family in which Edward belongs to, represent vampires in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. A Room Of One s Own Analysis A Room of One s Own is a novel written by Virginia Woolf. In the story, Woolf is arguing that women need money, privacy, and education to write successfully. Throughout her essay, she analyzes several different female figures from the past and during her own time to give her argument leverage. One of these figures is a fictional character named Judith Shakespeare, a sister to William Shakespeare. Even though Judith is fictional, she is necessary to A Room of One s Own. The main focus of A Room of One s Own is to demonstrate that women need money, privacy, and an education to write works of good quality. This is directly stated in the very beginning, All I could do was to offer you an opinion upon one minor point a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction; (Woolf, A Room of One s Own). Woolf does not believe that society has changed enough from the 1500s for women to write successfully. In order to prove her point, she begins the novel by analyzing Judith, a woman who had absolutely no resources. Judith Shakespeare, unlike famous writers such as Jane Austen, is unable to achieve any of her dreams because of the circumstances of her life. In order to further the idea that the problem regarding female writers is lack of resources and not lack of talent, Woolf writes that Judith and Shakespeare had the same amount of talent, as seen here, She was as adventurous, as imaginative, as agog to see the world as he [William Shakespeare] was (Woolf, A ... • 31. Synthetic Fibers And Its Effects On The Body 2.2.2.2Elastic fibres Elastic fibres are 1 Вµm to 3Вµm in diameter and are loosely arranged in all directions in the dermis [90]. These fibres are scattered among the collagen bundles and become thicker in the deeper layers of the dermis [90]. Elastic fibres, as their name indicates, are extremely elastic and help in the elastic recoil of the skin and that is the reason why they are more abundant in the dermis of the face, scalp and the extensible organs, such as tendons and arteries [91, 92]. 2.2.2.3Extrafibrillar matrix The extrafibrillar matrix includes a ground substance (glycosaminoglycans), dermal fibroblasts, dendritic cells, mast cells, histiocytes, blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatics [85]. Ground substance is a gelatinous amorphous substance of sugar and proteins (glycoproteins and proteoglycans) that is observed between the fibres and between the cells. It provides support to the dermis and has an extraordinary capacity to store water. Moreover, it facilitates the passage of nutrients, hormones, and other molecules through the dermis [72, 73]. Fibroblasts, the major cell type of the dermis, produce and maintain most of the ECM proteins. Indeed, they produce collagen, elastic fibres, and glycosaminoglycan [93]. The dermal fibroblasts are differentiated from the mesenchymal cells and appear as thin spindle shaped cells. The dermis includes other types of cell such histiocytes, mast cells and dermal dendritic cells. Histiocytes are star shaped cells with a small ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A city with this much power generally sets the score for other counties to follow. When San francisco undermines justice with institutional biases, they set a dangerous example for others to follow. While San Francisco has shown great strides to improve itself internally and externally, there are still major issues that need to be addressed, specifically in their incarceration system. San Francisco has created a system where minorities are more susceptible to being imprisoned due to the city s precarious handling of funds. The San Francisco prison system hosted 1,556 citizens in the year 2013.[1] During that exact year, 56% of those citizens incarcerated were of African Americandescent, in a city where African Americans make up a mere 6% of the total population.[1,2] Compare that to the city s majority race, caucasians, who make up 41.6% of the city as a whole and accounted for only 22% percent of all prisoners.[1,2] Looking at these statistics it could be assumed that racism is playing a role in this, however there is one key factor that is so often lost when issues of race flare up. This factor is of course, money. San francisco has been the host of recent major technological booms which have brought increased revenue into the city, but who s pockets is this money falling into? To clarify, the Saxons, a ferocious pagan Germanic tribe, had expanded too close to Charlemagne s domain (Barbero, 2004). According to Einhard, the little to no natural obstructions between the Franksand Saxonsresulted in arson, invasions, and murders committed by both sides (Einhard, 122 C.E. ). These particular events revealed the lack of security in the northern area of the Frankish Empire (Mayr Harting, 1996), which ultimately, compelled Charlemagneto take action against the Saxons. In order to protect the settlements and economic factors of the northern area of his empire, Charlemagne forced the Saxons to convert to Christianity and integrated them into the Frankish Empire, thus, eliminating the Saxon identity for self preservation.
