The Harlem Renaissance By Zora Neale Hurston
Personal Identity
The Harlem Renaissance was a period from the end of World War I through the middle of the Great
Depression, during which a group of talented African American writers produced a body of poetry,
fiction, drama, and essays. Zora Neale Hurston is considered to be one of the most influential
contributors to the Harlem Renaissance period. Hourston grew up in this culturally affirming setting
due to her father s mentality, despite frequent confrontations with her preacher father, she lived a
happy childhood. Her father was said to crush her wild spirit and later influence her views on life. Her
mother, on the other hand, urged Hurston and her siblings to jump at de sun. Hurston explained, We

Finishing off with her relationship with Tea Cake (last marriage), as Janie experiences true fulfillment
and enlightenment and becomes secure in her independence. All this falls under the theme of the
Harlem Renaissance, a divided awareness of finding one s identity.
Nanny s hopes for Janie s future was wrapped up by her own disturbing experiences.
Nanny herself lived through slavery and had a child, Janie s mother, by her white master. To follow,
Nanny s daughter was raped, gave birth to Janie, then became an alcoholic. As a result,
Nanny had high hopes that Janie would marry and be a legitimate wife. This goal seems to be the most
important thing for Nanny, and in her goal to get Janie married to a suitable man, due to her slave
mentality. In, Their Eyes Were Watching God , Nanny is upset with Janie for kissing a young man who
isn t Nanny s ideological view of a husband, stating to Janie she must get married to Logan Killicks,

Examples Of Alienation In Catcher In The Rye
Alienation outcasts: The reason why the characters we ve read about feel victimized by society is
because of their differences, they believe that people aren t real/truthful with them and they retaliate
by being aggressive. One example of this would be Holden from Catcher in the rye. When his
roommate Ackley asked him if he knew who won the fencing match Holden responded with I don t
know and I don t give a damn. How bout sitting down or something, Ackley kid? Holden acted very
rude when his roommate asked him simple question. He distances himself when people actually want
to talk to him but then turns around and claims he is alone.Another example of this would be from the
chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck. When the pot cleaner says ... Show more content on

Preventing mold growth on Hem Fir sapwood
Balkis, A. Bakar
Introduction
Freshly felled timber is the most critical condition because it has high moisture content and
unprotected from biological attacks. Even so, treated wood products are also susceptible to the
biological attacks when exposed to weathering or have cracks that allow the moisture to enter the
wood and consequently will attract biotic agents. These biotic agents can produce spore that
pigmented the wood surfaces or pigmented hyphae that can discolor interior wood, thus reducing the
product values (Morrell, Love, Freitag, 2002). Mold is an example of fungi that discolors the wood
surfaces and can be found indoors and outdoors. Inhalation of mold indoors ... Show more content on

New Pricing Strategies For East Cleveland Cable Tv
New Pricing Strategies for East Cleveland Cable TV
If we plan on being the provider of choice for cable services in East Cleveland, then we need to start
planning pricing strategies for East Cleveland Cable TV. We offer the same services in the area as our
competitors AT T Uverse, Direct TV, Dish, and Time Warner, but re setting our prices will draw new
customers and keep current resident cable services (Kotler Keller, 2012 pg.389). We do not want to
attract customers just for a period of time for promotional and discount prices, however; our prices
should be attractive without adding promotions and discounts.
Selecting A New Pricing Package for Cable Services:
Revisiting our pricing will help our cable company survive intense competition with our competitors
(Kotler Keller, 2012, pg.389). Cleveland is a large city within Ohio whereas East Cleveland is a just a
small fraction within the city of Cleveland. If we are going to survive and continue to grow as the
main cable service provider for the city locally, we are going to have to increase sales within East
Cleveland. Lower cost for the same services as our competitors will generate higher sales; maximizing
the market share brings a high demand.
Determining Demand:
How we calculate our prices will affect the impact we will have for sales and marketing. We will have
to look at the elasticity demand for our cable service because lowering cost will generate more total
revenues (Kotler Keller, 2012, pg.392). According

Illustratte Technique and How It Relates to Performance Essay
According to the Dictionary of Sport Science, 1992 technique is best defined as a specific sequence of
movements or parts of movement in solving movement tasks in sports situations . Bober, 1981
suggested that using kinematic and temporal variables is the best way to illustrate technique. Most
reports reviewing technique reported the use temporal occurrence of linear and angular displacements
and velocity and their amplitude. Other implements are available for quantifying biomechanical
movement such as electromyography, plantar pressure and kinetic analysis. Technique is not always a
positive indicator of performance as good technique is not always an indicator of good performance,

This will help to describe how the foot and the footwear interact. In soles will be places into both shod
(shoe) conditions and participants will be asked to run as normal wearing the soles.
There is a debate among scientists as to whether barefoot or shod conditions are more beneficial to a
runner. Yan, et al, 2012 carried out a systematic review comparing the effects barefoot and shod
conditions, their aim was to clarify the effects of shoes on the most generally used variables associated
with impact analysis of the lower limb. They concluded that there was insufficient evidence to draw
an overall conclusion as to the benefits of shoes as they found conflicting results within the literature.
Yan et al, suggested that greater attention to the standards of reporting biomechanical analysis and use
of high quality data collection methods will help advance this field of research.
Running is an increasingly popular exercise both recreationally and professionally however like all
exercise it poses risks; with to 52 % of professional and recreational runners suffering with muscular,
skeletal and joint injuries (Van Mechelen, 1992). A great deal of research into shoe design has been
conducted specifically athletic shoes. More recently, scientists have considered the idea of minimalist
footwear leading to the development of Vibram Fivefingers and other minimalist footwear. The
lightweight shoe is supposed to mimic the experience of running barefoot while

Comparisons Between The Views Of Alexander Hamilton And...
In history, many leaders have argued over their different views. Alexander Hamilton and Thomas
Jefferson have had different views on many different things. For example, Hamilton believed that the
best way to strengthen finances was by using taxes. Although, Jefferson strongly disagreed with him.
Hamilton and Jefferson were different in many ways, such that, Hamilton was a Federalist, and
Jefferson was an Anti Federalist. These differences caused many disagreements between the two. After
the civil war, Hamilton came up with many different ways to strengthen finances and establish credit
for the new nation. One of his proposals was creating a National Bank. Hamilton believed that the
elastic clause justified the idea. Although, Jefferson opposed this by saying that it is not necessary and
proper . In document one it states, The Congress shall have power To make all Laws which shall be
necessary and proper (Document 1). Jefferson believed that opening a National Bank would lessen the
power of the states. This was one of his main concerns. In document three it states, the Senate would
condemn it by the Constitution (Document 3). Jefferson believed that the Senate ... Show more

He believed that putting the tax on whiskey would improve not only the attitude of people, but other
drink industries, and agriculture. Jefferson strongly disagreed with Hamilton. Putting a tax on whiskey
would hurt many farmers that grew grain to make it. Jefferson, being from the South, therefore he saw
what would happen if the tax was put into place. He believed that the unfair tax would break up the
nation. This soon resulted in the Whiskey

Absolute Monarchy
For a significant period of European history, there was a concerted push towards the establishment of
absolute monarchy. The absolute monarchy was the apex of the pyramid of power and influence.
Although the monarch claimed complete autocratic authority by virtue of blood, the monarchy was
only fully secured by the presence of a supportive aristocracy and a stable, established church. This
was a tripartite; the monarch, the aristocrat, and the church. Absolute monarchy is best exemplified in
the reign of Louis XIV of France. Using the French as an example, and on the basis of the tripartite,
one can begin to understand what led to the fall of absolute monarchy. It was a breakdown of the
alliance between the monarchy and the aristocrats. The

Sumerian Religion Research Paper
Sumerian Religion:
The Sumerian religion was very important to the world in many ways. They believed that after you
died, you would go to the underworld from your grave. Some of the rules for entering were:
You must not make noise.
You must not wear clean clothes.
You must not wear sandals.
You must not douse yourself with good oil.
After this, Utu would judge you soul. If you passed, you would live a happy new life in the
underworld.
Each city had a temple, or ziggurat to worship one of the gods. Some of the jobs of temple workers
include priests, priestesses, musicians, and singers. The priests had a job to keep the gods happy, and
were the doctors. In the center of the temple, there was a statue of the god that everyone could pray to

They were usually from other tribes that Sumer beat in a battle. Most slaves were owned by the royal
family. If you were wealthy, you could buy one. They had a hard and sometimes unfair life.
Government:
Each city state had its own ruler, who was called a lugal, en, or ensi. They were like a king or
governor. One of the most famous kings was named Gilgamesh. One of the oldest things ever written
was the Epic of Gilgamesh, which was, of course, about King Gilgamesh. The king was an important
part of the Sumerian government.
Besides the king, there were also government officials. They organized projects and helped keep the
city running. They had lots of laws that everyone had to follow or they would be severely punished.
Some people say that government was invented by the Sumerians. The government officials had an
important job.
The temples, or ziggurats, weren t just a place to worship the gods. They were also a place for food
and art storage, as well as a home for many people. The ziggurats were in the middle of the city states.
Each one had a certain god to worship. The temples were used for a lot of jobs.

The Constitution And The American Constitution
When our founding fathers decided to separate from England, it was understood that they would have
to form their own government. Their first official form of government failed, but they learned from
their mistakes and promptly followed up by making quite possibly the most successful constitution
ever in 1776. To ensure that American citizens would enjoy their new freedom, our founders kept in
mind what John Locke had said in his An Essay Concerning Human Understanding life, liberty, and
property, by coining life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness into the final draft of the constitution.
The constitution is important because it exists to protect the rights of all citizens, and has no legitimate

Compared to the United States 4,543 worded constitution, Texas constitution has nearly twenty times
more words (87,000) (Collier). The national constitution has never been replaced; however, it has been
amended twenty seven times. Texas s constitution has been replaced a total number of 5 times due to
how detailed it is. Depending on the era, a constitution may have certain rules which as time
progresses become more hurtful to its constituents. Only a century ago, women and people of color
had little to no rights as a human being. It took America, Land of the free , a little more than a century
to allow women to vote. It is obvious that the ability to amend a constitution is a valuable one. The
issue in Texas is that it has had a unique history and vast spread of land; therefore, it s constitution is
quite detailed. Texas was once its own republic, it was one of the later states to be admitted to the
United States, and that it occupies so much land that counties within its lines often differ drastically.
Texas first constitution was made in 1836, when it stood as a country, there were no lower units of
government, free African American people must have had permission by the Texas legislature to
reside in the state, priests could not hold office (corruption in Mexico), slavery was legalized, and
slaves could not be freed without permission from the legislature. Those

Physical Chemical Lab Report
Introduction
What is matter? Matter is the substance of which any physical object is composed of. Matter takes up
space and has mass. Matter can actually undergo lots of changes either chemically or physically.
During chemical changes, matter s chemical composition changes. Bonds between atoms are broken
and created to form new molecules! For an example, a rusting iron nail. When a iron nail is exposed to
oxygen it transforms into rust, this ability to react is the chemical property/change. During physical
changes, matter s composition does not change. Something in the matter might seem or look different,
but the atoms are still link up the same. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Procedure The procedure for this lab includes many simple steps and a few different things we are
testing. Our first Procedure was to combine water and salt to see what kind of reaction it would make.
First we fill the graduated cylinder with 100 ml of water. We then measured 1.0 grams of table salt on
a balance to get an accurate amount. After, we took the measured amount of salt and poured it into the
water filled beaker. Lastly, we watched and recorded the reaction.
For our second procedure our first step was to gather materials of a 2 cm long magnesium strip, a
bunsen burner, and crucible tongs. After we gathered materials we turned the gas to the bunsen burner
on, carefully lit the burner with our striker, and adjusted the flame. We then used the crucible tongs to
pick up the magnesium strip and place it in the flame, keeping it a safe distance away. Lastly, we
recorded and watched our reaction.
The third procedure we did, our first step was to gather materials of a spot plate, and 2 pipettes one

Ceo Study Approach
I think the Accenture CEO study comes as a result of the increase awareness that resources in our
planet are finite. This realization comes after the development of economic theories and philosophies
that do not consider the limited amount of resources that are available to a company. I m talking about
human resources, natural resources, and physical space. All these items have become more a
constraint for companies around the world. The approach and strategy that companies take is
important to understand the effects of initiatives and where we will be as a society in the future. As I
was reading the study, I kept imagining a car driving on a highway. The car has the driver and 4
passengers. It is the responsibility of the driver to make sure the car and its passengers make it to the
destination safe and sound. The driver must ensure the car enough gas, the route is the best one, the
dangers around are avoided, and to respect all road rules. Why would the study ask the opinion of
CEOs, or the same reason why in the car we wouldn t ask a driver if we have enough gas for the trip,
or if the driver is tired, or knows the way there. It is best to ask the driver and get a straight answer.
For the same reason, it is better to ask the CEOs to know what is their strategy, what s important and
what is not. This is the best way to assess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was a practising catholic and man of deep faith passed away when she was very young. However his
strong faith servilely impacted her. His inspiring example lead Catherine to persist being a Catholic
her entire life. Which meant going against all the pressures and resisting or the criticism. Catherine s
mother lacked her husbands depth of faith and was much more interested in her social status within
Dublin society than her religion. It was her father who provided her with the first model of service to
the poor through his involvement with those in his own community. The second death of her parent
forced into becoming independant, and growing up much quicker then she would have hoped.
However again this has shaped the way Catherine was, and built her strong and caring character.
Looking for god in this instance help Catherine gain strength to carry on to inspire and help others
along the way. Do not put your trust in any human being, but place all your confidence in God.

shown significantly throughout her life. Her fathers presence in her life at a young age was still so
impactful that she carried out his religion and pushed through all other temptations to convert.

Light On Photosynthesis
This lab allowed the experimenters to understand the effect of light on the producer s photosynthesis.
Once understanding how the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis worked, the experimenters
can make predictions on how the light will affect the photosynthesis. For example, a low amount of
light will affect the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis because light is essential for those
reactions. The question the experimenters asked was, Does having more or less exposure to light cause
a faster rate of photosynthesis? The experimenters first had to know that the leaf tissue of a producer
contains gas filled intercellular spaces. Since the leaf have these spaces, they float when placed in a
solution. When the leaf disks are put into a vacuum pump, the gases leave the intercellular spaces and
the liquid fills these spaces. In doing so, the leaf disks sink to the bottom. This is because the liquid
have a higher density than the gases that were in those spaces. As oxygen is made by photosynthesis,
it diffuses into the intercellular spaces. When there is enough oxygen in the intercellular spaces, ...

However, the amount of time the experimenters waited before looking at each petri dish was not exact.
Having this could ve caused an experimental error because each petri dish could ve have more or less
time under their light amount. This would affect how many reactions of photosynthesis the leaf disks
would ve done, causing the number of leaf disks floating to be incorrect. A way to fix is to have a
timer, so that way each petri dish could have to same time of light exposure. In conclusion, the
experimenters learned that the higher amount of light caused more leaf disk to be floating. This is
supported by what the experimenters learn in class, because light is used in the light dependent
reactions of photosynthesis. Therefore, having more light would have to produce more

Descriptive Essay On The Devil
The devil I feared, sat on my lungs so deeply it felt impossible to breath. My knees were trembling
and I could not move. A single tear drop got away from me as it broke the dam wall in my soul. I just
stood there at the edge of the steps, as I watched her slip away to another man with nothing I could do.
5 sets of eyes watching, joining me in shock. I turned into a completely empty shell as I stared at the
entrance to the Vermeer s house where I kept replaying the recent events through my head. The house
that used to be so full and grand, now seemed so empty to me. I contemplated why she rejected my
proposal and then it appeared clear to me that she lied about wearing those blue and yellow head
clothes so what else had she lied to me about. I had a slight suspicion that she was to have feelings for
the man in the attic, but I thought I had pushed that away with my love and affection. Clearly I was
wrong. I felt my strength regain as my sadness turned to anger. My eyes gazed up at the attack to see
him, standing at the window staring down at me, he too looking shocked, though much more still than
everyone else. How could she do this? With a flood of hopelessness and anger I turned away from the
Vermeer s house and fled like mist before a radiant day.
I steamed through the market place towards the pub. I couldn t stop the thoughts rushing around in my
head. All sorts of emotions kept stirring up and I didn t know how to feel. Anger, hate, betrayal or

Describe How Jesus Presented As A Worker Of Miracles
Explaining the Term Miracle
The word miracle comes from the Latin miraculum , which means, to marvel at, to
wonder. A miracle therefore is a happening which amazes us and arouses wonder.
When we say miracle we mean an event which is so mysterious that cannot be explained by scientific
methods; something that we believe cannot occur naturally. A miracle involves a breach or violation of
the laws of nature. Usually miracles are thought of as something that has a religious significance.
Christians believe that a miracle is a sign of the power of God.

Describe How Jesus was Presented as a Worker of Miracles, giving Examples from the gospels.
Jesus never, throughout his ministry, performed miracles for his personal gain. This is shown
particularly in the temptations in the desert [LK 4:1 13], where he was given the decision of
performing miracles to make himself powerful, famous, or happy.
When he first began to perform miracles he simple did so because of his love of man, and his want to
do good, not to prove who he was and reveal his identity as the Messiah. At that time he actual tried to
hide his real identity to the people, this was known as the messianic secret. There are many examples
of him performing miracles because of his want to do good, while trying to hide his identity, for
example; a number of cures [Lk 4: 4 41, the cure of the leper [Lk 5:12 16], when he actually told the
cured man not to tell of this miracle, and also the cure of the demoniac [8:26 39], where he told the
demon to be silent when it began telling people of Jesus identity.
Later on in his ministry he began to perform miracles in public. This I believe was not only because he
wanted to help the ill, the poor or possessed, but also to establish faith in people, or to strengthen faith
in his followers, and also to reward those with faith. Examples of these are; the curing of the centurion

Using Financial Instruments to Hedge Hedging through the use of financial instruments is whereby
instruments such as forwards, options and money markets are used to manage the risk of foreign
exchange exposure. Forward Hedges are where a contractual obligation exists regarding the buying or
selling of a currency at a specified fixed future rate on a specified future date. It requires a source of
funds (Eiteman, Stonehill and Moffett, 2010). Option Hedges are a right not an obligation to buy or
sell a specified currency at a specific rate on a specified future date. It allows for speculation on the
upside while still limiting the loss (Eiteman, Stonehill and Moffett, 2010). Money Market Hedges is
another method, this contract is a loan agreement whereby a firm borrows in one currency and
exchanges the proceeds in another currency (Eiteman, Stonehill and Moffett, 2010). Natural Hedging
This type of hedging is whereby foreign exchange exposures in outflows of cash are offset by inflows
of cash through matching of transactions (i.e. Revenues and Expenses). Natural hedging focuses on
operating cash flows; for example a receivable is offset by a payable in the same currency without the
use of financial instruments, this however requires consideration of synchronising values of the cash
flow and timing of the cash flows (Eiteman, Stonehill and Moffett, 2010). Strategic Decision making

The Voice From A Birdcage
The Voice from a Birdcage A brave woman sang a sombre song from inside a birdcage in the late 19th
century. As a novelist and also a well known feminist, Charlotte Perkins Gilman fearlessly spoke up
about her conception, freedom, in her masterpiece, The Yellow Wallpaper . She proposed big issue
divorce around that time. In this semi autographical story, she describes her conflict of marital discord.
Gilman intertwines her frustrations about a relationship with her husband and depicts the distress
through many symbols, so that people should be aware what genuine happiness as a human being is.
Through the relationship between Else and John, Gilman pointed out that females are given a
disadvantage by their husbands. For example, she explains that John stands high because of his social
status as a physician and a husband. Gilman illustrates this situation through the symbolism of the
wallpaper; two breadth didn t match one is a little higher than the other (768). Another example is that
Else is eager to live on the first floor because she can see the beautiful garden from the window, but
John keeps her on the second floor even though they should move all the furniture from the first floor.
Who is willing to carry all the heavy furniture such as a bed, a mattress, a dining table and chairs to
upstairs only for three months? John s decision is quite unreasonable. However, John s long absence is
the most frustrating for her. John goes out all day, and sometimes he stays in

Allusions Of The Serpent
The bible can be seen as a great piece of literature, one which many people will recognize if there are
references to it in modern day books, movies, and even music. One of the major topics for allusions is
the Serpent. Most commonly known for his role in the story of Adam and Eve the serpent is sly,
cunning, and deceivingly tricky. Authors allude to the Serpent if they want to characterize a character
as evil or devious. They may also use this allusion to advance a theme as to not trust everyone you
meet or temptation may be your downfall. They can use it to create other moods such as suspenseful
ones, or even sad ones if the reader knows that the fall of the character is coming. All of these things
are used in the examples in the next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made
(English Standard Version Bible, Gn. 3:1). In this quote, the reader can infer that the Serpent is sly,
devious, and cunning and should not be trusted. To see that the Serpent is tempting Eve the bible says,
He said to the woman, Did God actually say You shall not eat of any tree in the garden ? . . . But the
serpent said to the woman, You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes
will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. (Gn. 3:2 6) This quote shows the
actual tempting that the Serpent did to get Adam and Eve to eat the fruit.
In The Chronicles of Narnia #6: The Magician s Nephew by C.S. Lewis, Aslan, the lion, asks Digory
if he is ready to protect Narnia from the Witch. In order to do this Digory has to go collect seeds to
plant a certain tree. When he is collecting the fruit needed the Witch speaks to him.
You have plucked fruit in the garden yonder. You have it in your pocket now. And you are going to
carry it back, untasted, to the Lion; for him to eat, for him to use. You simpleton! Do you know what
that fruit is? I will tell you. It is the apple of youth, the apple of life. I know, for I have tasted it; and I
feel already such changes in myself that I know I shall never grow old or die. Eat it, Boy, eat it; and
you and I will both live forever and be king and queen of this whole world or of your

How Has Social Media Impacted Political Campaigns
Lesly Vasquez
COMM 105
Dr. Rossman
How has social media affected/impacted political campaigns? The progression of technology has
enhanced the availability to methods in which interaction among people and social media has been/is
used to get messages across, obtain information, and maintain the ability to influence how a person is
viewed by either a singular person or a group of individuals. The prevalence of social media in politics
has broadened the accessibility and availability to politician s ideals, campaigns, and standpoints. It
also has allowed politicians to campaign more independently to create their own self image.
Broadcasting this information on social media comes with the potential to influence power
relationships among politicians, political parties, or those merely interested in politics.

Of these channels, Twitter has been known to help candidates interact with voters by broadcasting
their personal side. The evaluation of candidates who had a communicative goal of focusing on their
own candidacy were said to have an individualized style. Consequently, the individualized social
media style is related to an increase in activity involvement on Twitter. However, just because it
resulted in an increase of activity it was not influential. So the aspect of how social media has
impacted political campaigns is conveyed through this source by its explanation of candidates/
political leaders use of using social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook, to convey their
personality and involvement with voters in hopes to better appeal to the people. In other words, the
use of social media allows for an insight into their lives that would convey an emotional appeal that

What Was The Truman Doctrine
Stalin s occupation of Eastern Europe was not self serving nor was it aggressive.
This can be supported by noticing the positive impacts Stalin s occupation made and by using America
as a comparison always noting that America had many more self serving incentives.
The US and USSR both would have both preferred that the other disappear but since this would
involve mutually assured destruction a system of global management called the Cold War was
established.
According to the orthodox view, the Cold War was caused by Soviet aggression in which the USA
tried to contain and protect the world by means of the Marshall plan and Truman doctrine. It is
however , easy to forget the loss that the Soviet Union experienced .

its Eastern European allies and conduct wars against the Third World , while the Soviet union kept
control of their own internal empire and satellite states .

The US used Western Europe as a source of income by supplying it with exclusively American
products and America had intention of using the Ruhr , which is an excellent example of how America
used the Marshall plane and Truman doctrine for personal gain.
The Soviet Union however had secured it s means of production and had also catered for satellite

the opportunity for one class to exploit the other and consequently create an economic disparity .

Social Intelligence And Emotional Intelligence
High school is the time in a students life where learning how to understand others emotions is key to
their education. Learning how others emotions can influence their own and how to respond to it can
have a positive influence on their psyche and teaches how to be socially aware of how their emotions
can be interpreted. They need to have the capacity to discern and respond appropriately to others
emotions. To ensure this possibility, the teachers need to be competent in this area. High school
teachers should exhibit social intelligence and emotional intelligence to ensure students are self aware

Self presentation is basically presenting ourselves in ways that make a good impression. Teachers
usually need to make a good first impression in front of their students because it usually sets how the
students will treat them throughout the course of the year. By being socially intelligent, the teacher can
get a read on their crowd so they can respond accordingly.
Charisma is one aspect of self presentation that peaks in effective speaking. Women are usually more
emotionally expressive than men, but are often constrained by the norms of the workplace where
crying and being angry can be a no no. An exception to the anger rule is the boss. It may not seem out

Expanding Our Horizons – Animal Welfare Concerns
After a state of the art breakthrough at a scientific laboratory, several tested animals became capable
of human intellectual capabilities and emotions. During an unseen event, they escape the facility, no
longer remaining hostage as test experiments. Ten years pass and now the roles have reversed. These
super hybrid animals are now the top of the food chain and humans are their pawns. In a reversal of
roles, zoos now hold humans in depicted natural environments and local grocery and department
stores are farms where forced humans eat, breed, and slaughter for animal consumption. This change

The lack of research and public knowledge greatly hindered considerations for animal welfare
including fair and ethical treatment. In order for us as humans to understand animals more thoroughly,
more research studies are required in order to examine the similarities of animal and human relations.
We can further relate with animals if we understand they too have emotions similar to ours and not
outcast them due to their species classification. Even as studies and research conducted prove great
and remarkable results, the public should be aware of the information generated. With the public
aware of such studies, we can finally relate to animals and take in their considerations of how they feel
in certain situations. The implications of this are vast ranging from common household pets, livestock,
to even captive animals within a zoo. Learning these studies and making this knowledge available to
the public could provide helpful insight as what to do in treating situations such as coming across a
bear in the wild.
Research roles of animals have been very beneficial to the human race. Within case studies of animals,
such items as vaccinations, cardiovascular bypass surgery, and treatments for cancer have become
possible (Medina, 2008). It is important to understand the welfare for animals and the research

Methodology and Models for Residential Self Selection
METHODOLGY AND MODELS FOR RESIDENTIAL SELF SELECTION: IMPACT ON TRAVEL
BEHAVIOR Introduction: Self selection in this context refers to the tendency of people to choose
locations based on their travel abilities, needs and preferences (Litman, 2005 p. 6). Sources for
Residential selection are: attitudes and social demographic traits. With residential to the latter, an
example of self selection is that low income and zero vehicle households may choose to live in
neighborhoods with ample transit service and hence use transit more. In this case, it is not good transit

of transit model. Today urbanization is increasing rapidly with global opportunities and economic
development of the country. So, there are more number of people are migrating from other areas to
Urban. The density of the population increases, but the infrastructure like transportation facilities have
not improved that much. Then there is a cause of Traffic congestion as well as increasing the fuel
consumption. Urban areas are developing very fast and sprawl all over the sub urban areas. Already
central areas of the cities are overcrowded, So, then the people are moving to suburban areas for

Fxico Madero Pros And Cons
The country of Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1821 and over the coming decades would
see serious political strife while leaders fought for control of the country. In 1876 General Porfirio
Diaz seized control of the country and held power for the next thirty four years. Diaz was a no
nonsense sort of leader, who did not allow any opposition to his policies. Diaz promoted investment
into Mexico s natural resources from foreign companies and improved the wages of many of his

livelihood suffer.
Economic strife during the 1907 to 1909 years allowed for opposition parties to rise up to challenge

With this newly acquired knowledge, he began preaching the Old Testament to the other slaves, about
what freedom meant and how they should fight for it. He mainly preached to a group of five other
slaves, with the addition of two more later on about the concept of freedom. Nat felt as if he was
driven into some corner of slavery from which there was no return, only his imagination was he free.
He had a burning rage to fight against the Serpent, and slay the enemy with their own weapon.
During their March of Destruction, ; things began to get out of hand. Though he was willing to go to
extreme measures to gain his freedom, the events that ended up taking place ended up becoming a

massacre take place. In the end, a total of 50 stood trial, and 21, including Nat Turner were hung for

The Distinction Of Soul And Body In Socrates s Phaedo
In Phaedo, Socrates uses the soul and body to express the distinction between the forms and
appearances. Socrates describes the soul as divine, deathless, intelligible, uniform, indissoluble,
always the same as itself, whereas the body is most like that which is human, mortal, multiform,
unintelligible, soluble, and never consistently the same (Phaedo 80b). Furthermore, Socrates believes
there is a future awaits men after death (Phaedo 63c) because it might be a relocating for the soul from
here to another place (Apology 40d). Socrates believes the one aim of those who practice philosophy
in the proper manner is to practice for dying and death (Phaedo 64a) because philosophers are stuck in

There were several outcomes of the second Punic war, which was fought between 218 and 201 B.C.E
(Cartwright, 2016). First, we have to establish how the first Punic War ended to appreciate the
outcomes of the second Punic War.
The first Punic War ended when Rome upgraded its sea vessels to march the highly sophisticated
vessels of the Carthaginians. With the superior army of Rome effectively trained and translated to
sailors, the Romans effectively defeated the naval power of the Carthaginians and become the new
naval power while acquiring the Island of Sicily as a province of Rome (Morey, 1901).

Syphax. Meanwhile, Masinissa, the embattled king of Numidia had rendered some assistance to
Scipio, when they two met in Africa. So it was not surprising to see the outcome of the second Punic
War consolidate the kingship on Masinissa.
Another outcome of the second Punic War was that Carthage was to pay an annual tribute of 200
talents for fifty years. Well, the consequence of losing a battle was either to become a province under
the victor or pay a painful fine. In the case of Carthage, the fine was a yearly tribute of 200 talents,
which is the equivalent of $250,000 in today s revenue. Additionally, Carthage agreed not to wage any
war without the consent of Rome. This is quite a domination of the winner to the loser. Even in the

Both Rome and Han China equivalently constructed similar roads, bridges, and water development
systems all to strengthen their economy. Verifications of this can be seen when Rome fully realized the
potential of arches and bridges in their road systems that spanned more than 400,000 km of roads that
were used for trade. Correspondingly, they also built aqueducts as a form of water engineering to
constantly bring in a flow of water to the cities and towns. Similarly, Han China built massive fortified
roadways for trade and walls for fortification comparable to the Great Wall of China as a means of
defense. Also in comparison to Roman aqueducts, Han China built water canals as means to direct
water as they pleased. These similarities defined their engineering skills as these inventions and
constructions were used to help strengthen their economies. Rome built and constructed roads to aid
their trade systems and make easier routes of travel. Furthermore, they used aqueducts to get water
into the city saving money and the need for human labor. Similarly, Han China used their fortified
roads to trade much easier and as a means of safer travel. This went hand in hand with China s water
canals that also aided their economy by directing water where needed saving much money and
limiting the need for human labor as well.

Charles Lee: General in the American Revolutionary War

Charles Lee, a general in the American Revolutionary war, is a historic figure in American history.
Serving under George Washington, Charles Lee participated in a number of battles. However, history

  • 2. The Harlem Renaissance By Zora Neale Hurston Personal Identity The Harlem Renaissance was a period from the end of World War I through the middle of the Great Depression, during which a group of talented African American writers produced a body of poetry, fiction, drama, and essays. Zora Neale Hurston is considered to be one of the most influential contributors to the Harlem Renaissance period. Hourston grew up in this culturally affirming setting due to her father s mentality, despite frequent confrontations with her preacher father, she lived a happy childhood. Her father was said to crush her wild spirit and later influence her views on life. Her mother, on the other hand, urged Hurston and her siblings to jump at de sun. Hurston explained, We might not land on the sun, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finishing off with her relationship with Tea Cake (last marriage), as Janie experiences true fulfillment and enlightenment and becomes secure in her independence. All this falls under the theme of the Harlem Renaissance, a divided awareness of finding one s identity. Nanny s hopes for Janie s future was wrapped up by her own disturbing experiences. Nanny herself lived through slavery and had a child, Janie s mother, by her white master. To follow, Nanny s daughter was raped, gave birth to Janie, then became an alcoholic. As a result, Nanny had high hopes that Janie would marry and be a legitimate wife. This goal seems to be the most important thing for Nanny, and in her goal to get Janie married to a suitable man, due to her slave mentality. In, Their Eyes Were Watching God , Nanny is upset with Janie for kissing a young man who isn t Nanny s ideological view of a husband, stating to Janie she must get married to Logan Killicks, You come head wid yo mouf full uh foolishness on uh busy day. Examples Of Alienation In Catcher In The Rye Alienation outcasts: The reason why the characters we ve read about feel victimized by society is because of their differences, they believe that people aren t real/truthful with them and they retaliate by being aggressive. One example of this would be Holden from Catcher in the rye. When his roommate Ackley asked him if he knew who won the fencing match Holden responded with I don t know and I don t give a damn. How bout sitting down or something, Ackley kid? Holden acted very rude when his roommate asked him simple question. He distances himself when people actually want to talk to him but then turns around and claims he is alone.Another example of this would be from the chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck. New Pricing Strategies For East Cleveland Cable Tv New Pricing Strategies for East Cleveland Cable TV If we plan on being the provider of choice for cable services in East Cleveland, then we need to start planning pricing strategies for East Cleveland Cable TV. We offer the same services in the area as our competitors AT T Uverse, Direct TV, Dish, and Time Warner, but re setting our prices will draw new customers and keep current resident cable services (Kotler Keller, 2012 pg.389). We do not want to attract customers just for a period of time for promotional and discount prices, however; our prices should be attractive without adding promotions and discounts. If we are going to survive and continue to grow as the main cable service provider for the city locally, we are going to have to increase sales within East Cleveland. Lower cost for the same services as our competitors will generate higher sales; maximizing the market share brings a high demand. Determining Demand: How we calculate our prices will affect the impact we will have for sales and marketing. Most reports reviewing technique reported the use temporal occurrence of linear and angular displacements and velocity and their amplitude. The absolute monarchy was the apex of the pyramid of power and influence. Although the monarch claimed complete autocratic authority by virtue of blood, the monarchy was only fully secured by the presence of a supportive aristocracy and a stable, established church. This was a tripartite; the monarch, the aristocrat, and the church. Absolute monarchy is best exemplified in the reign of Louis XIV of France. Once understanding how the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis worked, the experimenters can make predictions on how the light will affect the photosynthesis. For example, a low amount of light will affect the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis because light is essential for those reactions. The question the experimenters asked was, Does having more or less exposure to light cause a faster rate of photosynthesis? The experimenters first had to know that the leaf tissue of a producer contains gas filled intercellular spaces. Since the leaf have these spaces, they float when placed in a solution. When the leaf disks are put into a vacuum pump, the gases leave the intercellular spaces and the liquid fills these spaces. In doing so, the leaf disks sink to the bottom. This is because the liquid have a higher density than the gases that were in those spaces. As oxygen is made by photosynthesis, it diffuses into the intercellular spaces. A way to fix is to have a timer, so that way each petri dish could have to same time of light exposure. In conclusion, the experimenters learned that the higher amount of light caused more leaf disk to be floating. Jesus never, throughout his ministry, performed miracles for his personal gain. When he first began to perform miracles he simple did so because of his love of man, and his want to do good, not to prove who he was and reveal his identity as the Messiah. At that time he actual tried to hide his real identity to the people, this was known as the messianic secret. There are many examples of him performing miracles because of his want to do good, while trying to hide his identity, for example; a number of cures [Lk 4: 4 41, the cure of the leper [Lk 5:12 16], when he actually told the cured man not to tell of this miracle, and also the cure of the demoniac [8:26 39], where he told the demon to be silent when it began telling people of Jesus identity. Later on in his ministry he began to perform miracles in public. In order for us as humans to understand animals more thoroughly, more research studies are required in order to examine the similarities of animal and human relations. Even as studies and research conducted prove great and remarkable results, the public should be aware of the information generated. With the public aware of such studies, we can finally relate to animals and take in their considerations of how they feel in certain situations. The first Punic War ended when Rome upgraded its sea vessels to march the highly sophisticated vessels of the Carthaginians. With the superior army of Rome effectively trained and translated to sailors, the Romans effectively defeated the naval power of the Carthaginians and become the new naval power while acquiring the Island of Sicily as a province of Rome (Morey, 1901). Meanwhile, Masinissa, the embattled king of Numidia had rendered some assistance to Scipio, when they two met in Africa. So it was not surprising to see the outcome of the second Punic War consolidate the kingship on Masinissa. Another outcome of the second Punic War was that Carthage was to pay an annual tribute of 200 talents for fifty years. Well, the consequence of losing a battle was either to become a province under the victor or pay a painful fine.
