Educating The World s Future
Adolescent minds have always been the key to the world s future. Children are put in school from a
young age and taught a curriculum that can be challenge [challenging?], yet the results are rewarding.
Without education, there would be known literacy. No doctors, engineers, or even teachers. With each
generation that is brought up, there are new concepts and skills taught. What you to be just reading,
writing, and arithmetic, now has expanded into classes such as horticulture. With more skills being
taught now at younger ages, many wonder just how exactly these children retain this knowledge into
adulthood. Children have often been referred to as sponges; soaking up every image, word, and idea
that is ran by them in everyday life. As I began to prepare for this assignment, I was struck with many
question pertaining to the retention of knowledge, but specifically the use of repetition to aid retention.
I first began this assignment once reviewing my literacy narrative once more for inspiration. I began
by asking simple questions that later stemmed into more involved inquires. The first being, why did
Bill Martin Jr. choose to compose Brown Bear Brown Bear the way he did? The question led me to
think deeper and I ask myself, Was Bill Martin Jr. intentionally using repetition in his book, or was it a
happy accident? This led me to question his writing style and illustration choice. I could not contain
the questions my mind was throwing at me. There were then more inquiries to

The Development of Rockets
1.3 Developing of rockets.
Russian scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was one of the very first people who put forward the idea of
using rockets for space missions, he was also the first person to design a rocket for interplanetary
exploration and he accomplished this in 1903. German scientist Hermann Oberth continued to outline
the principles of interplanetary flight in 1920, soon followed by an American scientist Robert Goddard
who began to develop a liquid rocket engine in 1923 and by 1925 had created a working prototype. He
set up the first liquid rocket, using gasoline and liquid oxygen as fuel in March of 1926. The works of
Tsiolkovsky, Oberth and Goddard were then continued by rocketry enthusiast groups in the United
States, the Soviet Union and Germany (Aerospace, 1994)
In Germany, similar works were led by German Interplanetary Society (VFR), as part of the group,
Johannes Winkler implemented Europe s first successful liquid rocket launch in March of 1931 and
Wernher von Braun who began the development of rocket engines for the German army artillery range
in Kummersdorf in the winter of 1932. After the Nazis came to power in Germany they allocated
some funding for the development of missiles, and in the spring of 1936 the construction rocket centre
has been approved at Peenemunde, with von Braun appointed as technical director. He developed the
A 4 ballistic missile and in 1944 began its combat application called V 2. Military applications of V 2

Rough Patch
While going through a rough patch in my life, I knew that I need to get back to my roots so I decided
to enroll in the agriculture program in high school. After about two weeks I certainly wanted to show
an animal, so I asked my mother if I could, at that point she asked me what I wanted to show. I told
her I wanted to show a pig. Of course she did not want me to show a pig, which she was afraid she
was going to end up having to raise. After begging and pleading, even promising that I would do extra
chores, I won. We started looking at different breeds of pigs. My mother, on the other hand thought all
pigs were pink. I really wanted a Hereford, but we couldn t find any breeders that were even close to
Oklahoma, so I settled for a Hampshire. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So it felt like it was way below freezing outside; it had to be one of the most terrifying days of my life,
and it was a two day show. I passed out twice before eight o clock that morning. As we arrived and I
started to prepare my pen, that s when I saw the show ring for the first time. I just wanted to leave at
that point, but my dad told me that my little sisters were looking up to me to do this, so that they could
do it too. When he told me that I know that I had to just suck it up and go out there and do the best I
could. I went back to my pen and started feeding and watering Lola, then I went to change clothes. It
was time to show so we headed to the ring. They put me and Lola in a small pen right outside the
show ring. I was scared and I knew she was too. The gate opened I went to walk in and she took off
running around like a chicken with its head cut off around the show ring. After a few minutes, which
seemed like an hour or two, I got her back under control. We were sifted as a result of her
shenanigans, but the judge told me what he would fix on her. I also found out that I didn t have all the
things that I need, so I built myself a show

In the novel, Nikhil, who is enthusiastic about social change, including ladies liberation, however cool

be eager about against British disturbances, which she sees as an absence of energetic responsibility.
Bimala gets intrigued with Nikhil s patriot companion Sandip, who talks splendidly and acts with
devoted militancy, and she falls head over heels in love for him. Nikhil declines to change his
perspectives: I am eager to serve my nation; yet my love I hold for Right which is far more stupendous
than my nation. To love my nation as a divine being is to carry a condemnation upon it.
As the story unfolds, Sandip gets irate with some of his comrades for their disappointment to join the

He orchestrates to manage the recalcitrants by smoldering their pitiful exchanging stocks and
physically striking them. Bimala need to recognize the association between Sandip s energizing

Introduction
In this essay I will be discussing the importance of echocardiography in clinical practice as they are
used for screening, diagnosis, guiding treatment, assessing recovery and monitoring care. I will be
discussing the principles in which make echocardiography possible, the importance of selecting the
correct electromedical technique, the advantages and disadvantages and the clinical constraints which
may occur within different patient groups.
Echocardiography is routinely used in the diagnosis, management, and follow up of patients with any
suspected or known heart disease. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sound consists of oscillating waves of compression and decompression of a transmitting medium i.e.
air or water, traveling at a fixed velocity (Støylen, 2015). The frequency of sound waves refers to the
number oscillations per second, with one cycle per second is considered a unit of 1 hertz (Henderson,
2014). Sound waves oscillating above 20,000 Hz are categorised as ultrasound waves. As sound waves
are a transverse wave forms this means the only variant is its frequency and wavelength despite the
location in the spectrum. The wavelength is defined as the distance travelled by sound in one cycle, or
the distance between two identical points in the wave cycle i.e. the distance from each oscillation
(Cura Rodríguez, Seguí and Nicolau, 2012). In regards to wave forms the wavelength shows very little
significance as it is inversely proportional to frequency.
In reference to the structure a waveform, the significance of the wavelength is one of the main factors
affecting the resolution of an ultrasound image, this is because smaller wavelengths (higher frequency)
are absorbed more by soft tissue. This variable absorption rate with structures of different impedances
allows distinctive structures to be clearly represented. In echocardiography, the wavelengths are often
manipulated in order to view deeper structures within the patient but compromising with resolution. In

Structure Function Analysis Of Sodium Channels
Structure Function Analysis of Sodium Channels in Human iPSC derived Neurons
Keywords: iPSC, sodium channel, electrophysiology, neuron, inactivation
Background: Neuronal excitability mediated by sodium dependent action potentials (APs) is required
for rapid and specific communication in our brains. This underlies our ability to sense and respond to
stimuli and for higher order cognitive functions including learning and memory. Voltage gated sodium
channels (NaVs) open in response to membrane depolarization and initiate the AP. The α subunit is the
major functional unit of NaVs and is comprised of 4 homologous domains (DI DIV), each containing
6 transmembrane segments (S1 6)4,5. S4, the voltage sensor that detects depolarization, contains 4 8
positively charged amino acids each separated by two hydrophobic residues4,6. The positive charges
on S4 are pushed outward by the electric field during membrane depolarization leading to channel
opening, allowing influx of positively charged sodium ions down their concentration gradient4. Fast
inactivation helps return the membrane to rest by blocking the conductance of sodium ions through the
channel pore 1,2.
Studies in expression systems suggest that the DIVS4 plays a unique role in inactivation1,2,3,6.
Recent wholeWhole genome sequencing data associated with human disease identify other potentially
important amino acid in the DIVS45,8. Two mutations of the 4th positive charge in DIVS4 (aka 4R4),

My Story About My Daughter
So I have come here to tell you guys about my daughter and request some assistance from you, I
guess. Last night sort of shook me a little bit and I am at a loss mentally about what to do. I have an 8
year old daughter, Amber, who shares a multitude of personality traits in common with me. One of my
favorites is the use of wanton sarcasm pretty much 100% of the time. I keep telling my wife, Jennifer,
that it s a sign of intelligence; she ll just roll her eyes and reminds me that she constantly has to
explain the process of moving shit in the fridge to find other shit to the both of us. I guess that means
we aren t all that smart. However, like I said, I didn t come here to gush over my love for my daughter.
Yesterday morning pretty much started how it usually does with me struggling to get my wife and
daughter up and ready for work and school respectively. My wife is more of an uphill struggle than
Amber is most of the time. It really only gets bad if she doesn t get a restful sleep. This day was
apparently one of those days indicated by the three trips I made into her bedroom to annoy the shit out
of her until she woke up. The more I tried to probe into why she was so tired she met it with a
significant amount more resistance. Sometimes you have to pick your battles, so I dropped it. We had
plans to go to a fair in central Ohio that I had been excited for all year. It was two hours away from
our house but I hadn t been in so long that the drive seemed worth it.

The waste to energy skill is explored to development the possible materials in waste which are
biomass, plastic and rubber tire to be oil. The bulk of waste tyres are disposed in landfills, ensuing in a
sort of troubles such as taking up huge quantity of more and more precious landfill space and
unintentional fires resulting in highly toxic emissions such as nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulphur dioxide
(SO2), hydrogen sulphide (H2S), carbon monoxide (CO) and hazardous polycyclic aromatic
hydrocarbons (PAHs) [2 4]. A variety of strategies have been planned as choices to waste tyre
managing, all planning at tyre reprocess. Waste tyres can regrettably not be recycled in traditional
ways such as glass, metal or plastic by thaw out to attain raw material for new products. This is as a
consequence of the compound nature of tyres, which consist of steel, rubber, carbon black, ash, fillers,
etc. [5]. One more snag is that the polymers in the tyres are cross linked, and these bonds cannot be
chemically broken down simply [6]. Pyrolysis is distinct as the method by which materials are
thermally degraded by subjection to high temperature in the lack of oxygen [7]. The pyrolysis process
is effectual in the recycling of waste materials, counting waste tyres, and thus contributes to decrease
the ecological impact of waste tyres [8]. The pyrolysis process yields three main products i.e., a gas,
liquid and solid [9]. The

Persuasive Essay For Study Abroad
When in Rome! I chose to pick a study abroad program because I want to explore the world. I think it
is a perfect idea to get a chance to travel to another country and earn college credits. I chose Rome
because that is where I think I will be more comfortable to visit while in college. It is full of culture,
fashion, great cuisines, art, and many more! It has always been on my bucket list to go to Italy. It is the
perfect opportunity to visit the country especially while I am in college. I remember watching Lizzie
McGuire as a child and she went to Rome and impersonated an Italian pop star, Isabella. She met this
handsome man who took her to tour the city. Everyone eventually realized he was using her to ruin
Isabella, but it was still a happy ending for Lizzie McGuire. I wanted that happy ending it looked like
so much fun running around Rome. The expenses are outstanding for the trip, but at least I have an
agenda all laid out by the program. For this study abroad, I could not find the exact requirements for
attendance, but the minimum grade point average (GPA) for school activities are ranging from 2.5 to
4.0 GPA scale. The classes or study abroad will not be available if ten or more students are not
enrolled. I would also recommend the students classification to be a junior or higher because at this
point they are older and responsible enough to take their classes seriously and make it an adventurous
tour of learning and exploring. The program does recommend a letter

Betrayal in Maus Essay
During World War II and the Holocaust, there was not only mistrust for the government but there was
also plenty of mistrust for prior friends and neighbors. In the graphic novel, Maus (Volume I and II)
Vladek Spiegelman makes it very clear to his son, Artie, that one cannot count on their friends. He
makes the point that in time of hardship, friends will abandon you quite quickly. Vladek says, Friends?
Your friends...if you lock them together in a room with no food for a week...then you could see what it
is, friends! (Maus, VI. 5 6). Throughout the novel, we see examples of this gloomy point proven
repeatedly. In the first volume of the novel, Haskel, a cousin of the family and a chief of the Jewish
police is guarding the ghetto that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Spiegelman family and their comrades were trying to be compassionate and help someone that
they identified with, someone who, through a shared desperate situation (or so they thought) they tried
to befriend. Unfortunately, he was so quick to turn his back on the people who had treated him so
kindly. Yet again, it becomes evident that no one can be trusted when the prisoners are being marched
from the concentration camp due to the Nazis fear that the United States and allies soon would
discover their operation. The Jewish prisoners arrange a plan with some of the German guards
marching alongside them. The prisoners pay the guards with the agreement that when they try to run
the German soldiers will fire over their heads and not kill them. When the time came to run, the
prisoners break away from the pack and start towards the woods, however, the same soldiers that
promised not to shoot them shot them in the back as they ran (Maus V II 82 83). The Germans that
were supposed to be the friends of the Jews and help them escape took their gold and did not hesitate
to shoot them in the back as they ran. Fortunately, for everyone s sake, not everyone was only out to
save himself or herself. In contrast to the many examples where betrayal was the norm there are
several examples of friends who were genuine and helped to make the situation better for someone
even they could not make it better

Water and Gas Flow Measurements
The paper reports water and gas flow measurements through carbon nanotubes with diameters of less
than 2 nanometers. The measurement of water flow indicated that the values exceeded those predicted
by hydrodynamics models by several orders of magnitude. The water flow rates were similar to those
predicted from molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The measurement of gas flow revealed that the
predictions given by the Knudsen Diffusion model, commonly employed for systems in which the
pore diameter ranges in between 2 and 50 nm, were off by more than an order of magnitude. The
study also showed that these nanotubes had greater permeability of gas and water as compared to
commercial polycarbonate membranes, which are generally used for filtration, despite having pore
sizes that were smaller in size. This study is interesting because it provides for an in depth study of
mass transfer and filtration at a nanometer level in a confined space.
The study is of significant importance as it might give insight into water transport through
hydrophobic channels which is similar to the system of transmembrane protein pores like aquaporins .
The paper reports that a double walled carbon nanotube (DWNT) was fabricated for the purposes of
conducting transport experiments. These DWNTs were fabricated by a microelectromechanical
systems (MEMS) compatible process. First a vertical array of DWNTs were grown on a silicon chip
used as a substrate by a catalytic chemical vapour deposition

Emmett Barcalow Moral Egoism Analysis
Capitalism is more than an economic system it is, in many ways, a philosophical view of life, a belief
in how people should act and how the world should be. Capitalism even spills over into ethical
decisions, based on a theory called Moral Egoism. Emmett Barcalow introduces the concept of Moral
Egoism in chapter four of the third edition of his textbook, Moral Philosophy, on page 71. He
describes Moral Egoism as the belief that one should make moral decisions based on one s own self
interest. Moral Egoism allows for behavior as genuinely helpful and benign as eating well and staying
fit since you would do this to boost your personal health, which is in your self interest and as sinister
as lying, cheating, stealing, and even murdering since

problem and repair your tire.
Here are few situations where you would need tire repair in Cassadaga, NY.

Flat tire: You can get a flat tired for a lot of different reasons. Sometimes, there s a nail stuck in their,
the valve is faulty or over pumped tired can lead to a flat. Again, when a tire is flat, this can prevent
you from having a pleasant, safe driving experience. It would be ideal for you to get this issues

Improper repair: If you have had issues with your tires in the past, you most likely took it in to be
checked out and got it repaired. It is possible that the previous repair done on your tire wasn t the
greatest. Not only could this have caused the same problem, it could have resulted in whole new one.

The Role Of Emergency Department Physiotherapists And The...
History
Physiotherapists were first able to serve as primary contact providers in Australia in 1976 with the
lifting of the Australian Physiotherapy Association s ethical principle stating It is unethical for a
member to act in a professional capacity except on referral by a registered medical or dental
practitioner . [1, pg 217] Although the change met much debate, the United Kingdom followed suit in
1978. [1] This legislation had yet to pass in all 50 American states, the District of Columbia, and the
US Virgin Islands until July 1, 2014. [2]
Primary contact physiotherapists first arrived in emergency departments in the United Kingdom, with
the role quickly expanding to Australia. [3, 4] The profession has continued to expand and evolve to
better service in Emergency Departments. [3, 5, 4] Many studies have been performed regarding the
roles of Emergency Department physiotherapists in both Australia and the United Kingdom, the data
of which will be reviewed. However, with the implementation running behind in the United States,
there are few studies pertaining to physiotherapists in American Emergency Departments.
Definition
Physiotherapists in the ED are identified by many different titles both in the United Kingdom and
Australia. In the United Kingdom they may go by Emergency Department Physiotherapy Practitioners
(EDPPs) [6], Extended Scope Physiotherapist (ESP) [7], or A E Physiotherapy Practitioners [8]. In
Australia physiotherapists may hold the title of Emergency

The Attachment Theory Essay
The Attachment Theory
The attachment theory talks about the early significance and developments of attachment between
infants and their mothers. Attachment can be defined as intense, emotional ties to specific people.
The attachment process can be divided into pre attachment, discriminate and indiscriminate and
multiple attachment phases.
The development of specific attachment is shown through separation anxiety.
The most influential versions of this approach was probably that of Sigmund Freud, who believed that
the infants upset at the mothers absence is based on the crass fear that bodily needs would now go
unsatisfied.
The British psychiatrist john bowlby called this the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The strange situation is used to classify the baby s basic attachment to the mother into three main
types: anxious avoidant, securely attached and anxious resistant.
The crucial feature determining the quality of attachment is the mother s sensitivity.
Bolwby suggest that such a built in fear of the unfamiliar has a simple survival value. Infants who lack
it are more likely to stray away from their mothers and will be more likely to go and perish.
Bolwby suggest that the first five years of life are crucial to the Child s later development. He
highlighted four majors systems in infant behavior, whereby he stated that children use all four of
these systems in their interaction with their environment and the people around them.
He stated what is known as the continuity hypothesis, which is the idea that a damaged infancy leads
to the idea of a damaged childhood which in turn leads to a damaged adulthood.
Infants who do not have any sort of attachments whatsoever could have some everlasting effects on
their adulthood. Researcher s tizard and Hodges 1978 concluded from their research that children may
be deprived of their opportunity to form personal attachments if they are raised in an institution.
Also, there is evidence that disruption in the family home during childhood could affect how the

Biblical Inspiration Howard Marshall
This book review is from the readings of Biblical Inspiration by Howard Marshall. The book is
published by Regent College Publishing located in Vancouver, and British Columbia published the
book in 2004. The book is braces around the interpretation of the Bible, and the inspiration of the
Bible in our lives of today. There are many questions that are brought up the book, and these include:
Is the Bible infallible? How do we interpret the Bible today? is its inspiration believable in and
biblical criticism believable? All of the different opinions on biblical issues equivalent to these bring
up issues and questioning within the community. It is Marshall s goal to try and produce a statement
that is concrete of what the Bible says in our lives today. Biblical Inspiration has five different key
components. The first components is Marshall talking about how God exposes himself to society.
Marshall wanted to make it obvious that this controversy is based for of his readers, and these readers
have some kind of belief in God, and the realness of him. After this Marshall starts to talks about the
question that is raised. This question is is God reveals himself in different ways, and can one of these
ways be in the Bible? Marshall made it apparent that he believed God revealed himself quite
obviously in the Bible, and was a very important tool for God to reveal himself to us. Marshall
confirmed this when he said, Christians do experience such moments of revelation as

Vittorio De Sico And Italian Neorealism
The average outing to the local movie theater is a pleasant experience; a show of laughs and drama
and romance, wrapped into a satisfying plot to be quickly forgotten by the transient audience. The
experiences of the Second World War, especially in Italy, forced the artistic film industry to grow
jaded quickly. Italian Neorealism, a film movement at odds with the conventional cinematic
experience, finds it somewhat inappropriate to have idealized heroes achieve happily ever after lives
after so many did not in the grim reality of the war. Vittorio De Sica and Cesare Zavattini were
pioneers of the movement, which (although not the first) is best exemplified by Umberto D., released
in Italy in 1952, and after a slow commercial reception, released abroad and in the U.S. in 1955. It
features an old man and his dog as they struggle to survive in the tough reality of the Italian postwar
city. The film was hailed by critics as a shining example of the maturity and emotional power of
realism. In a world of fabricated Hollywood plots, critics all over the world in the 1950s relished the
uncompromising candor of the neorealist film Umberto D., while the commercial reception clearly
shows that the mass audience preferred the purified filters of non realist cinema. Cesare Zavattini, the
co writer of Umberto D. and many other films with De Sica, gave an interview in 1952 in which he
outlined the theory and essence of Italian Neorealism. He deplored the practice of inventing banal and
contrived plots, calling it superimposing dead formulas over living social facts (Zavattini). If a story is
death to Zavattini, reality is life. He sees real life as a rich mine of content with no sparkling additives
necessary; a simple everyday action can be dissected and investigated to reveal a greater truth about
the reality of the situation. Poverty is the main subject for neorealist films, and Zavattini justifies this
by saying he features poverty because it is the most important contemporary reality of the people.
Neorealist films do not use professional actors either; the title character in Umberto D. was played by
a university professor with no acting experience. This adds to the realism by having people who

ADHD Effects On Children In Special Education
Growing up in a private school I was not exposed to what the special education system is and what the
purpose of this system was. I did have family members who were apart of this special education
system but I never looked at them any differently than anybody else. When I graduated, and began my
high school education at a public school I was exposed firsthand of this special education system. In
high school I was happy to engage and interact with children in the special education system. Arts and
crafts, and board games were activating that many students including myself played with children in
the special education system. I have learned that even though these children are put into a different
education system than many others they are still human. They are a wide variety of ... Show more

There are only 13 diagnosis in special education, these diagnoses are Mental retardation, specific
learning disability, Autism, emotional disturbance, speech and language impairment, traumatic brain
injury, orthopedic impairment, deathless, blindness, deathless with blindness, multiple disabilities,
other health impairment, and developmental delay. These are the 13 federal special end labels. ADHD
is not there though, because ADHD is not a special end category. If ADHD is not in the special
education conditions then why are children being put into special education because of ADHD? That
fact doesn t even make sense, and to find out more people of color (minorities) are put into the ADHD
system than any race alone.

Cutting Physical Education Classes
As a child in elementary school, I always looked forward to one class and the was physical education.
Being a little child, full of energy, I always wanted to run around and play a game of some sort.
School districts are starting to cut these classes to make more time for the core classes, which are
English, social studies, and math. One third of students under the age of 17 are overweight, and 1/6 of
the students, that are overweight are obese (Costanza par. 6). Cutting physical education classes are a
big reason to blame for this. Many kid are not getting their recommended 60 minutes of physical
activity in a day. Most kids get most of their recommended time of physical activity through physical

Determination In The Bravest Girl In The World
Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough Og Mandino. Og
Mandino is saying that if someone has a strong determination to succeed they will never fail.
Determination means a firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end. The word determination is
from the Middle English, the Anglo French determiner, and from the Latin determinare. Synonyms are
used to help people better understand a word. The synonyms for determination include resolution,
decisiveness, and persistency. Hesitation, indecision, and irresoluteness are antonyms to the word
determination. People say in life if a person has determination they can accomplish anything. Malala

She escaped captivity though, and is now determined to help other kids like her. One reason she wrote

C. S. Lewis The Chronicles Of Narnia
You may know C.S. Lewis for writing the Chronicles of Narnia, but he was known for a variety of
more things. He was known for writing novels, essays, critical commentary, autobiographies, poems,
short stories, and he was also a diarist ( World 2075). He would write about what he was going
through of something based on what he believed. C.S. Lewis was a great author because he wrote
from the heart and about things that impacted him the most. C.S. Lewis had a challenging childhood,
but I believe that helped shape him as an author and a person. He was born on November twenty
ninth, eighteen ninety eight in Belfast, Ireland (MacNee 252). His Father was a solicitor and his
mother was a daughter of a clergyman (MacNee 252). Lewis s mother was diagnosed with cancer
when he was only nine years old (MacNee 252). After his mother s death, his father distanced away

Lewis wrote quite a few books and letters, but you probably know him best for writing the Chronicles
of Narnia. Lewis said that he believed that his imaginative self inspired the series (MacNee 255).
Many people told Lewis not to write the Narnia series because it would ruin his reputation, but he
wrote the children s book anyway (Imbornoni 2). Throughout the series there are many biblical
references which makes sense because Lewis believed in the bible. One of the references he put in
there was Aslan (a lion) which represented God. Another success of C.S. Lewis was The Screwtape
Letters. They were his first Christian success (MacNee 255). In an interview in 1963 he said that the
Screwtape letters was the only one of all his books that he didn t enjoy writing (Mancini 2). He said he
found the book dry and gritty going (Mancini 2). This series is about notes from a senior devil to a
junior tempter (MacNee 255). Lewis even considered making a companion novel from the perspective

Goldman Sachs in Libya With a founding history of 145 years, Goldman Sachs, the investment
banking, securities and investment management firm can lay claim to being one of the most profitable
among the Wall Street firms better than its competitors while managing to retain its reputation all

itself on having pioneered many of the practises and techniques that have become the norm in the
investment banking circles. The firm also incorporates a business model which consists of hiring the
best talent and inculcating in them a corporate culture where partnership culture is valued above all

After the financial crisis of 2008, however, there is another way of viewing Goldman Sachs: a firm
that prided its dedication to its clients as the apogee of its structure, to one that has evolved into
something more blatantly self serving. According to author William Cohen, in his book Money and
Power, he has stated that Its primary source of profit has shifted from banking to trading, and the firm
is intentionally quite vague about how, and precisely where, those trades are made or, equally relevant,
from whom the profits are coming. It is a Wall Street titan whose clever bet against the mortgage

Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness Illuminates the...
Since the introduction of Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness into society, critics have debated over the
meaning of the ambiguous title. There are many interpretations of this title, but the general consensus
is that in the heart of darkness, you cannot do good: you can only be less evil. The title refers to not
only the physical lack of light in the jungle, but also to the grim consequences of imperialism due to
the stygian heart of mankind.
The first meaning is that the heart of darkness refers to actual lack of light in the book, the jungle in
particular. In the beginning of the novel, Marlow describes that the air was dark above Gravesend (3).
This is foreshadowing of the looming darkness Marlow will face ahead. When Charlie reaches the
edge of the jungle, he describes it as so dark green to be almost black (11). This refers to the
caliginous jungle, but also the corruptive nature of the jungle as seen through the transformation of
Kurtz. Another example of physical darkness occurs when darkness encroaches on Marlow and the
listeners. Marlow describes it as being so pitch dark that we listeners could barely see each other (95).
Marlow observes that the forest draws him in and seems beckon him to explore it. It had a treacherous
appeal to the lurking death, to the hidden evil, to the profound darkness of its heart (36). Marlow
recognizes the lightlessness, but is still drawn to it. This emphasizes the darkness every man and
woman has within them. It is in the

Technology Is A Bad Thing
Advances in Technology Technology has advanced in all shapes and forms and there is no sign of it
stopping. It has changed the way many of us see the world today. If our ancestors would be alive, they
would think it is a completely different place. Many consumers believe that technology is a bad thing
because they see the ugly side of change. Most people if not all simply do not want to accept it or
perhaps they notice those consumers who make mistakes and abuse technology. Despite it being an
unseen act of technology, society is continuously changing to uphold a set of standards never before
held for the sake of the future. We witness generations grasping a general idea of how to use the
complex devices starting at a young age. The younger users are able to use their devices with ease and
breeze through applications at an outstanding rate. For example, my younger siblings know exactly
how to unlock my phone and swipe through pages of applications and know exactly what game to use.
I have witnessed them logging in on my computers and perhaps search the web to watch their favorite
videos online. This idea of teaching the future generations at a young age to develop technological
skills is a great opportunity for them to have for the sake of their jobs. It is like we are preparing them
to advanced and not stay behind. The advances in technology is increasing at a rapid rate creating new
types of jobs and opportunities brightening the future of the next generation. Since

The Consequences Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase set a dangerous precedent as the President of the United States, Thomas
Jefferson and Congress ignored the constitution when agreeing to purchase the territory. This purchase
of land violated the limitations that Thomas Jefferson and Republicans had fought for while the
Federalist party was in control of the Presidency and Congress. However, the political climate of
France, Spain and the United States set the stage for Jefferson to violate his strict constructionist
beliefs, to allow the Louisiana Purchase.
The Louisiana Purchase was the agreement to purchase the land west of the Mississippi River but east
of the Rocky Mountains, and from the Canada Lake of the Woods in the north to the Gulf of Mexico
in the south. This purchase would eventually lead to the formation of part or all of fifteen states. The
agreement was between France and the United States of America.
At one time this land had been under the control of Spain following the French and Indian war, but
France ceded the land to Spain for payment of debts for the war. For approximately thirty years Spain
did very little to develop Louisiana. In 1801 Spain signed a secret treaty to return the Louisiana
Territory back to France, in exchange for Napoleon s promise to give the Spanish royal family rule
over Tuscany. For reasons of his own, Napoleon, the leader of France, in 1803 offered to sell the land
to the United States of America. The leaders of our country were concerned that the

 Hair color is the axis service that generates other salon services and sales for hair care products.
 Demi and semi permanents registered a much higher growth and nearly double the overall category.
The above article clearly illustrates color is on an amazing growth track and your salon should
capitalize on this trend to in help increase sales and profits.
Another major trend is in the category of Hair Smoothing Treatments. Here is an excerpt from another
article:
The straightening and keratin treatment services sector has grown rapidly in the past two years, at a
burgeoning growth rate of approximately 25 to 30%. The straightening sector in U.S. salons is now
worth approximately $1.46 billion and is comprised of soft goods at $215 million, hard goods at $125
million (both at manufacturers dollars) and services at approximately $1.12 billion (at salon dollars).
These amazing gains only represents 2.5% of the total U.S. salon hair care market, of $59.25 billion
and while small, it is the fastest growth sector.
So I am sure you would all agree marketing programs should be in place to promote in demand
services, and others such as Hair Extensions if your salon does this as an add on service. This can be
done by incorporating these into your standard greetings, as we stated above, and can also be placed in
any print advertising you are currently doing by using a tag line below your name.

symptoms of ET which complicated their normal activities and who did not show significant

Comparison Of White Upper Class Male And Female
In early 1800s society, there was an Unequal power relation between male and female . Men were
traditionally seen as being the dominant, physically stronger and socially more powerful in terms of

Essay On Dante s Inferno
See no Evil. Hear no Evil. Do no Evil.
Trapped up to his waist in ice, Dante s Satan with his warped wings pushes freezing gusts of air
throughout the caverns of the ninth circle of hell. With him, the worst of all sinners are warped into
fantastical shapes while encased in the frigid ice. They are the betrayers of love, the godly ideal of
voluntary benefaction, and now must spend eternity without warmth or light. Nothing is felt; by being
a traitor to their state or their benefactor, they have lost their right to God s love, condemned in the
center of the Earth.
I admire Satan in this situation the rejected angel thrown deep into Hell because of his power over his
realm. His wings freeze the ice and trap both him and the sinners within it, and his heads, a warped
holy trinity, continually chew on the three apparently worst humans in history: Judas, Cassius, and
Brutus. Thrust into this duty of penultimate torturer, Satan delivers the worst treatment of all of the
sins because he too is deserving of it. The power of reciprocal judgment would be the greatest way to

Army Ants
Anthony Palmieri

Contemporary Science Topics
A quote made by Lewis Thomas, Ants are so much like human beings as to be an embarrassment.
They farm fungus, raise aphids as livestock, launch armies into war, use chemical sprays to alarm and
confuse enemies, and exchange information ceaselessly. They do everything but watch television. I am
going to focus this report on the part of the quote, ..launch armies into war.., which sets a metaphor of
ants and our armies in today s society. Ants have many tactics, so to speak, that are similar to the way
our armies have when going to war. Ants have many different roles in their society. One of the main

They do this because footing for the large ants is better along the margins than in the midst of dense
mass of scurrying ants. When the army wants to invade or occupy a county, they usually will set up
aircraft carriers in the surrounding oceans and set up air forces in neighboring countries. They do this
to protect the inside forces of troops and clears out a root for them to attack. They did this type of
tactic during the
Persian Gulf War when we sent aircraft carriers into the Persian Gulf and the
Mediterranean and set up air forces and troops in the neighboring countries to set up an attack. We
later launched sea and air attacks to weaken the forces in
Iraq. We need these forces surrounding the area to launch missions to kill or damage the powerful
sources and then we send in the troops to tack care of the rest, like taking hostages or capturing any of
our hostages. When the ants are sent from the bivouac, the leading ants have no odor for others to
follow. They often hesitate and hold back an advance but the pressure built up from behind forces on
side of the front line to bulge forward.
As this movement slows down because of the relief of pressure behind it, a new bulge develops and
extends forward in another part of the front. The result is a series of advances of different parts of the
front which suggests flanking movements. A presence of prey will accelerate the

Present the pros and cons of each option and then make a decision.
I believe that putting it with TSG is the best that they have done for it, but they should put it on its
own. If you look at Cisco and 3com, they show you how much potential the market has and how much
ProCurve has of that market. ProCurve should stand on its own to be able to better monitor and to give
the person responsible for it his full focus. The pros of being a stand alone are: full focus from the
management on ProCurve products, separate sales team, marketing team, R amp;D, etc., more
entrepreneurial sprit. The Cons are that HP would compare it to all the other larger departments and if
it didn t perform as high as they did, they might sell it like they previously were planning to do. The
pros of being under TSG is that ProCurve will not be compared to other departments, but rather the
whole TSG will be, this will show more revenue from that department and if ProCurve didn t perform
as well, it can be covered by other revenues. TSG can allocate more things to ProCurve faster and

step continuous process involving financial planning, financial control and financial decision making.
In this post, we will discuss the types of company ownerships, the objectives and the derivatives.
Overview of Financial Management and Financial Environment Financial Management is concerned
with achieving the overall goals of the business firm by acquiring, financing and controlling the assets

How Did Jack Sparrow Fight In The Caribbean
In the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Black Pearl there were four main characters involved in the
fight scene. Firstly there was Elizabeth Swann (Kiera Knightley), Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp),
Commodore James Norrington (Jack Davenport) and Will Turner (Orlando Bloom). The reason the
fight took place was as Jack Sparrow (Depp) came to the docks at Port Royal where they don t support
pirates. When he arrived he saved Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) after she fell off the cliff into the
water and he jumped in saving her, realising her corset. When they got out of the water the guards
came and threatened Jack Sparrow (Depp), but Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) defended him but this
backfired. He took her as a hostage and this is how the fight began. ... Show more content on

There were several reasons he chose this action, firstly as he grew up having a deep hatred towards
pirates, this is as he grew up with Elizabeth Swann s family and he was always told that pirates have
no integrity, values or morals that Will Turner (Bloom) possesses and believes it s his civic duty to
fight Jack Sparrow (Depp). A less obvious reason is the anger he has towards Jack Sparrow as he
threatened the girl he loves, Elizabeth Swann (Knightley), he chose to fight as he wanted to prove to
everyone, especially Elizabeth Swann (Knightley), that he deserves a high status which he would
receive if he fought Jack Sparrow (Depp) and won. Lastly, Will Turner (Bloom) fought Jack Sparrow
(Depp) as he was being

Biography of Hermann Ludwig Ferdinand Helmholtz
Background Hermann Ludwig Ferdinand Helmholtz was born August 31, 1821 in Potsdam, Prussia to
the Potsdam Gymnasium instructor of philosophy and literature, August Ferdinand Julius Helmholtz
and Caroline Penn, descendent of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania (Cite brit). A product of
a rich, intellectual environment, Helmholtz grasped complex concepts in various academic subjects.
His father introduced him to philosophies that inspired him to broaden his mindset and explore
English, Science, and Mathematics, which led to an overwhelming interest in languages (including
English and Italian), music, nature philosophy, art and physiology. A student of the gymnasium,
Hermann von Helmholtz touched on subjects ranging from theoretical physics, to the age of the Earth,
to the origin of the solar system (cite wiki). He showed great promise as a scholar and was bound to be
a success.
After graduating in 1837, Helmholtz was awarded a free medical education at the Royal Friedrich
Wilhelm Medical Institute of Medicine and Surgery on the condition that he serve eight years in the
army as a doctor; he accepted the offer and enrolled at the institution in Berlin in 1838 (cite groups).
While there, he did research under the paramount German physiologist, perhaps the greatest known to
date, Johannes Müller (cite brit); studying works on mathematics by Daniel Bernoulli, Biot and
Laplace and philosophy, mainly by Kant (cite group). As he strived to complete his dissertation in

The New Zealand Essay
The New Zealand (NZ) government essentially operates under the Westminster Parliamentary system
(Palmer, 3). This system was derived from the British structure and adopted in 1947 (Palmer, 4). The
defining characteristic of this system include the separation of government into three branches, the
judicatory, legislator and the executive, with each preforming different roles in the law forming
process (Palmer, 5). There is no absolute separation of power between these different branches,
especially between the legislature and the executive branch of government. Although, the introduction
of the Mixed Member Proportionality (MMP) electoral system has enhanced this separation through
demanding more accountability from the executive branch. While MMP has improved the system,
there are numerous recommendations that could be implemented to improve this accountability.
The separation of power in the New Zealand parliamentary system is pertinent for an efficient and
democratic government. The different branches of New Zealand government have to be detached to
ensure that one does not act unconstitutionally, nor has undue power over another (New Zealand
Parliament, 2014). Each branch has separate roles and acts as breaks to hold the other sectors
accountable for their decisions (Palmer, 5). The legislator branch consists of members of Select
Committees, Parliament and the Governor General (Palmer, 5). Their role in the system is to examine,
debate and provide scrutiny over drafted

10 Things I Hate About You And The Taming Of The Shrew
Hello and welcome respected audience of the Shakespeare Society. I would like to start today by
thanking you for allowing me to speak on the topic of how the stereotypical roles of women have
changed and evolved in a positive manner since the Elizabethan era. I will start by defining a few
beneficial terms before discussing how Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew has been appropriated by
Gil Junger s in the 1999 movie, 10 Things I Hate About You.
To make a modern adaptation of a highly recognised 16th century play, one would have to have a
perfect mix of both similarities and differences between the two, integrating elements from both eras.
Junger, the director of 10 Things I Hate About You has managed to achieve this. By using many of the
same characters and the same plot from Taming of the Shrew, he created a modernised appropriation
of the Shakespeare play that incorporates aspects of teen society. The Taming of the Shrew and 10
Things I Hate About You are similar in many ways, one way they are different however is how since
the Elizabethan Era the nature and role of women in society has changed considerably.
The Taming of the Shrew examines the way traditional 16th century notions about gender and its
hierarchy are tested and reinforced in tempestuous relationships. While patriarchy rules supreme at the
plays end, it s vital to consider the constant attempts to undermine the sexist assumptions about a
women s place in marriage. In The Taming of the Shrew gender plays a

Role Of The Wto On Addressing Labour Standards
Appropriate role of the WTO in addressing labour standards
Introduction
The relationship between international trade and labour standards is a key issue today. The relation
defines the link between developing countries and advanced industrialized nations. International
enforcement of labour standards is justifiable from two frontiers of arguments. The first one opines
that unfair labour conditions and practices exist in many countries and trading partners and call for the
need to offset an occurrence through appropriate trade policy measures in a bid to level the playing
field (Elliott Richard 2003, p. 67). The proponents of the argument include organized social and
labour activists. Secondly, other social activists contend that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

147). Such standards are aimed at enforcing the adherence to WTO agreements by trading countries
that have signed and ratified the WTO agreement. Most issues dealt with by the WTO derive from
previous trade negotiations such as the Uruguay Round (1986 1994). All measures are taken with the
view of raising standards of living and ensuring full employment (Brown 200, p. 971). To achieve its
objectives, it undertakes a series of trade liberalizing agreements reached on consensus from the WTO
s members forming the General Council.
Labour standards under the World Trade Organization (WTO)
Labour Standards in the World Trade Organization refer to the binding rules forming part of the
principles and jurisprudence applicable within the rule making structures of the World Trade
Organization (WTO). The labour standards play a critical role within the WTO. Despite them being a
backbone in the WTO, they form a prominent issue facing the WTO hence generating academic and
economic debates (Rodrik 1997, p.37). The scope to which the WTO recognizes labour standards is
based on the principles established in Conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO),
and renowned human rights treaties such as the International Bill of Human Rights.
Core Labour Standards
The core labour standards are identified by the Declaration of the Fundamental Principles and Rights
at Work by the International Labour Organization (ILO). They are widely acknowledged for their

President Hoover And Franklin D. Roosevelt
During the 1920s, in the U.S. economy, stock prices were rapidly rising. Many people saw this as an
opportunity to invest their money into the market, and multiply their cash. Despite warnings of a crash
in the market, people kept on using their money even taking out loans to invest into the rapidly
increasing market. Nevertheless, on October 29, 1929 the stock exchange crashed, and caused panic
throughout the nation. This began an economic downturn that placed pressure on the President of the
United States to fix the situation. Although both Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt were
President during one of the hardest economic times in the nation s history, there are many differences
in the approach each President took to attempt to fix The Great Depression, which caused different
changes in the economy. During Herbert Hoover s time in the White House, is when disaster struck.
Many people, at the time, believed that President Hoover was the ideal person to have in office due to
his background, and knowledge of economics. President Hoover s understanding of economics is what
initially allowed him to predict that a crash in the nation s market was inevitable; yet, did not take any
actions about it because he worried that when the market went down, he would receive the blame.
Nevertheless, when the market bust occurred, President Hoover did take many incentives to attempt to
fix the economy. Primarily President Hoover called on people to engage in voluntary

  • 2. Educating The World s Future Adolescent minds have always been the key to the world s future. Children are put in school from a young age and taught a curriculum that can be challenge [challenging?], yet the results are rewarding. Without education, there would be known literacy. No doctors, engineers, or even teachers. With each generation that is brought up, there are new concepts and skills taught. What you to be just reading, writing, and arithmetic, now has expanded into classes such as horticulture. With more skills being taught now at younger ages, many wonder just how exactly these children retain this knowledge into adulthood. Children have often been referred to as sponges; soaking up every image, word, and idea that is ran by them in everyday life. As I began to prepare for this assignment, I was struck with many question pertaining to the retention of knowledge, but specifically the use of repetition to aid retention. I first began this assignment once reviewing my literacy narrative once more for inspiration. I began by asking simple questions that later stemmed into more involved inquires. The first being, why did Bill Martin Jr. choose to compose Brown Bear Brown Bear the way he did? The question led me to think deeper and I ask myself, Was Bill Martin Jr. intentionally using repetition in his book, or was it a happy accident? This led me to question his writing style and illustration choice. I could not contain the questions my mind was throwing at me. There were then more inquiries to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Development of Rockets 1.3 Developing of rockets. Russian scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was one of the very first people who put forward the idea of using rockets for space missions, he was also the first person to design a rocket for interplanetary exploration and he accomplished this in 1903. German scientist Hermann Oberth continued to outline the principles of interplanetary flight in 1920, soon followed by an American scientist Robert Goddard who began to develop a liquid rocket engine in 1923 and by 1925 had created a working prototype. He set up the first liquid rocket, using gasoline and liquid oxygen as fuel in March of 1926. The works of Tsiolkovsky, Oberth and Goddard were then continued by rocketry enthusiast groups in the United States, the Soviet Union and Germany (Aerospace, 1994) In Germany, similar works were led by German Interplanetary Society (VFR), as part of the group, Johannes Winkler implemented Europe s first successful liquid rocket launch in March of 1931 and Wernher von Braun who began the development of rocket engines for the German army artillery range in Kummersdorf in the winter of 1932. After the Nazis came to power in Germany they allocated some funding for the development of missiles, and in the spring of 1936 the construction rocket centre has been approved at Peenemunde, with von Braun appointed as technical director. He developed the A 4 ballistic missile and in 1944 began its combat application called V 2. Military applications of V 2 demonstrated the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rough Patch While going through a rough patch in my life, I knew that I need to get back to my roots so I decided to enroll in the agriculture program in high school. After about two weeks I certainly wanted to show an animal, so I asked my mother if I could, at that point she asked me what I wanted to show. I told her I wanted to show a pig. Of course she did not want me to show a pig, which she was afraid she was going to end up having to raise. After begging and pleading, even promising that I would do extra chores, I won. We started looking at different breeds of pigs. My mother, on the other hand thought all pigs were pink. I really wanted a Hereford, but we couldn t find any breeders that were even close to Oklahoma, so I settled for a Hampshire. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I just wanted to leave at that point, but my dad told me that my little sisters were looking up to me to do this, so that they could do it too. When he told me that I know that I had to just suck it up and go out there and do the best I could. I went back to my pen and started feeding and watering Lola, then I went to change clothes. It was time to show so we headed to the ring. They put me and Lola in a small pen right outside the show ring. I was scared and I knew she was too. The gate opened I went to walk in and she took off running around like a chicken with its head cut off around the show ring. After a few minutes, which seemed like an hour or two, I got her back under control. We were sifted as a result of her shenanigans, but the judge told me what he would fix on her. I will be discussing the principles in which make echocardiography possible, the importance of selecting the correct electromedical technique, the advantages and disadvantages and the clinical constraints which may occur within different patient groups. Echocardiography is routinely used in the diagnosis, management, and follow up of patients with any suspected or known heart disease. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sound consists of oscillating waves of compression and decompression of a transmitting medium i.e. air or water, traveling at a fixed velocity (Støylen, 2015). The frequency of sound waves refers to the number oscillations per second, with one cycle per second is considered a unit of 1 hertz (Henderson, 2014). Sound waves oscillating above 20,000 Hz are categorised as ultrasound waves. As sound waves are a transverse wave forms this means the only variant is its frequency and wavelength despite the location in the spectrum. The wavelength is defined as the distance travelled by sound in one cycle, or the distance between two identical points in the wave cycle i.e. the distance from each oscillation (Cura Rodríguez, Seguí and Nicolau, 2012). In regards to wave forms the wavelength shows very little significance as it is inversely proportional to frequency. In reference to the structure a waveform, the significance of the wavelength is one of the main factors affecting the resolution of an ultrasound image, this is because smaller wavelengths (higher frequency) are absorbed more by soft tissue. This variable absorption rate with structures of different impedances allows distinctive structures to be clearly represented. In echocardiography, the wavelengths are often manipulated in order to view deeper structures within the patient but compromising with resolution. In principle of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Structure Function Analysis Of Sodium Channels Structure Function Analysis of Sodium Channels in Human iPSC derived Neurons Keywords: iPSC, sodium channel, electrophysiology, neuron, inactivation Background: Neuronal excitability mediated by sodium dependent action potentials (APs) is required for rapid and specific communication in our brains. This underlies our ability to sense and respond to stimuli and for higher order cognitive functions including learning and memory. Voltage gated sodium channels (NaVs) open in response to membrane depolarization and initiate the AP. The α subunit is the major functional unit of NaVs and is comprised of 4 homologous domains (DI DIV), each containing 6 transmembrane segments (S1 6)4,5. S4, the voltage sensor that detects depolarization, contains 4 8 positively charged amino acids each separated by two hydrophobic residues4,6. The positive charges on S4 are pushed outward by the electric field during membrane depolarization leading to channel opening, allowing influx of positively charged sodium ions down their concentration gradient4. Fast inactivation helps return the membrane to rest by blocking the conductance of sodium ions through the channel pore 1,2. Studies in expression systems suggest that the DIVS4 plays a unique role in inactivation1,2,3,6. Recent wholeWhole genome sequencing data associated with human disease identify other potentially important amino acid in the DIVS45,8. Last night sort of shook me a little bit and I am at a loss mentally about what to do. I have an 8 year old daughter, Amber, who shares a multitude of personality traits in common with me. One of my favorites is the use of wanton sarcasm pretty much 100% of the time. I keep telling my wife, Jennifer, that it s a sign of intelligence; she ll just roll her eyes and reminds me that she constantly has to explain the process of moving shit in the fridge to find other shit to the both of us. I guess that means we aren t all that smart. However, like I said, I didn t come here to gush over my love for my daughter. Yesterday morning pretty much started how it usually does with me struggling to get my wife and daughter up and ready for work and school respectively. My wife is more of an uphill struggle than Amber is most of the time. It really only gets bad if she doesn t get a restful sleep. This day was apparently one of those days indicated by the three trips I made into her bedroom to annoy the shit out of her until she woke up. The more I tried to probe into why she was so tired she met it with a significant amount more resistance. Sometimes you have to pick your battles, so I dropped it. We had plans to go to a fair in central Ohio that I had been excited for all year. It was two hours away from our house but I hadn t been in so long that the drive seemed worth it. ... A variety of strategies have been planned as choices to waste tyre managing, all planning at tyre reprocess. Waste tyres can regrettably not be recycled in traditional ways such as glass, metal or plastic by thaw out to attain raw material for new products. This is as a consequence of the compound nature of tyres, which consist of steel, rubber, carbon black, ash, fillers, etc. [5]. One more snag is that the polymers in the tyres are cross linked, and these bonds cannot be chemically broken down simply [6]. Pyrolysis is distinct as the method by which materials are thermally degraded by subjection to high temperature in the lack of oxygen [7]. The pyrolysis process is effectual in the recycling of waste materials, counting waste tyres, and thus contributes to decrease the ecological impact of waste tyres [8]. I think it is a perfect idea to get a chance to travel to another country and earn college credits. I chose Rome because that is where I think I will be more comfortable to visit while in college. It is full of culture, fashion, great cuisines, art, and many more! It has always been on my bucket list to go to Italy. It is the perfect opportunity to visit the country especially while I am in college. I remember watching Lizzie McGuire as a child and she went to Rome and impersonated an Italian pop star, Isabella. She met this handsome man who took her to tour the city. Everyone eventually realized he was using her to ruin Isabella, but it was still a happy ending for Lizzie McGuire. I wanted that happy ending it looked like so much fun running around Rome. The expenses are outstanding for the trip, but at least I have an agenda all laid out by the program. For this study abroad, I could not find the exact requirements for attendance, but the minimum grade point average (GPA) for school activities are ranging from 2.5 to 4.0 GPA scale. The classes or study abroad will not be available if ten or more students are not enrolled. I would also recommend the students classification to be a junior or higher because at this point they are older and responsible enough to take their classes seriously and make it an adventurous tour of learning and exploring. • 12. Betrayal in Maus Essay During World War II and the Holocaust, there was not only mistrust for the government but there was also plenty of mistrust for prior friends and neighbors. In the graphic novel, Maus (Volume I and II) Vladek Spiegelman makes it very clear to his son, Artie, that one cannot count on their friends. He makes the point that in time of hardship, friends will abandon you quite quickly. Vladek says, Friends? Your friends...if you lock them together in a room with no food for a week...then you could see what it is, friends! (Maus, VI. 5 6). The Spiegelman family and their comrades were trying to be compassionate and help someone that they identified with, someone who, through a shared desperate situation (or so they thought) they tried to befriend. Unfortunately, he was so quick to turn his back on the people who had treated him so kindly. Yet again, it becomes evident that no one can be trusted when the prisoners are being marched from the concentration camp due to the Nazis fear that the United States and allies soon would discover their operation. The Jewish prisoners arrange a plan with some of the German guards marching alongside them. The prisoners pay the guards with the agreement that when they try to run the German soldiers will fire over their heads and not kill them. When the time came to run, the prisoners break away from the pack and start towards the woods, however, the same soldiers that promised not to shoot them shot them in the back as they ran (Maus V II 82 83). The Germans that were supposed to be the friends of the Jews and help them escape took their gold and did not hesitate to shoot them in the back as they ran. Fortunately, for everyone s sake, not everyone was only out to save himself or herself. • 13. Water and Gas Flow Measurements The paper reports water and gas flow measurements through carbon nanotubes with diameters of less than 2 nanometers. The measurement of water flow indicated that the values exceeded those predicted by hydrodynamics models by several orders of magnitude. The water flow rates were similar to those predicted from molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The measurement of gas flow revealed that the predictions given by the Knudsen Diffusion model, commonly employed for systems in which the pore diameter ranges in between 2 and 50 nm, were off by more than an order of magnitude. The study also showed that these nanotubes had greater permeability of gas and water as compared to commercial polycarbonate membranes, which are generally used for filtration, despite having pore sizes that were smaller in size. This study is interesting because it provides for an in depth study of mass transfer and filtration at a nanometer level in a confined space. The study is of significant importance as it might give insight into water transport through hydrophobic channels which is similar to the system of transmembrane protein pores like aquaporins . The paper reports that a double walled carbon nanotube (DWNT) was fabricated for the purposes of conducting transport experiments. Capitalism even spills over into ethical decisions, based on a theory called Moral Egoism. Emmett Barcalow introduces the concept of Moral Egoism in chapter four of the third edition of his textbook, Moral Philosophy, on page 71. He describes Moral Egoism as the belief that one should make moral decisions based on one s own self interest. Moral Egoism allows for behavior as genuinely helpful and benign as eating well and staying fit since you would do this to boost your personal health, which is in your self interest and as sinister as lying, cheating, stealing, and even murdering since ... History Physiotherapists were first able to serve as primary contact providers in Australia in 1976 with the lifting of the Australian Physiotherapy Association s ethical principle stating It is unethical for a member to act in a professional capacity except on referral by a registered medical or dental practitioner . [1, pg 217] Although the change met much debate, the United Kingdom followed suit in 1978. [1] This legislation had yet to pass in all 50 American states, the District of Columbia, and the US Virgin Islands until July 1, 2014. [2] Primary contact physiotherapists first arrived in emergency departments in the United Kingdom, with the role quickly expanding to Australia. [3, 4] The profession has continued to expand and evolve to better service in Emergency Departments. [3, 5, 4] Many studies have been performed regarding the roles of Emergency Department physiotherapists in both Australia and the United Kingdom, the data of which will be reviewed. Attachment can be defined as intense, emotional ties to specific people. The attachment process can be divided into pre attachment, discriminate and indiscriminate and multiple attachment phases. Infants who lack it are more likely to stray away from their mothers and will be more likely to go and perish. There are many questions that are brought up the book, and these include: Is the Bible infallible? How do we interpret the Bible today? is its inspiration believable in and biblical criticism believable? All of the different opinions on biblical issues equivalent to these bring up issues and questioning within the community. It is Marshall s goal to try and produce a statement that is concrete of what the Bible says in our lives today. Biblical Inspiration has five different key components. The first components is Marshall talking about how God exposes himself to society. Marshall wanted to make it obvious that this controversy is based for of his readers, and these readers have some kind of belief in God, and the realness of him. After this Marshall starts to talks about the question that is raised. This question is is God reveals himself in different ways, and can one of these ways be in the Bible? Marshall made it apparent that he believed God revealed himself quite obviously in the Bible, and was a very important tool for God to reveal himself to us. Marshall confirmed this when he said, Christians do experience such moments of revelation as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Vittorio De Sico And Italian Neorealism The average outing to the local movie theater is a pleasant experience; a show of laughs and drama and romance, wrapped into a satisfying plot to be quickly forgotten by the transient audience. The experiences of the Second World War, especially in Italy, forced the artistic film industry to grow jaded quickly. Italian Neorealism, a film movement at odds with the conventional cinematic experience, finds it somewhat inappropriate to have idealized heroes achieve happily ever after lives after so many did not in the grim reality of the war. Vittorio De Sica and Cesare Zavattini were pioneers of the movement, which (although not the first) is best exemplified by Umberto D., released in Italy in 1952, and after a slow commercial reception, released abroad and in the U.S. in 1955. It features an old man and his dog as they struggle to survive in the tough reality of the Italian postwar city. The film was hailed by critics as a shining example of the maturity and emotional power of realism. In a world of fabricated Hollywood plots, critics all over the world in the 1950s relished the uncompromising candor of the neorealist film Umberto D., while the commercial reception clearly shows that the mass audience preferred the purified filters of non realist cinema. Cesare Zavattini, the co writer of Umberto D. and many other films with De Sica, gave an interview in 1952 in which he outlined the theory and essence of Italian Neorealism. He deplored the practice of inventing banal and contrived plots, calling it superimposing dead formulas over living social facts (Zavattini). If a story is death to Zavattini, reality is life. He sees real life as a rich mine of content with no sparkling additives necessary; a simple everyday action can be dissected and investigated to reveal a greater truth about the reality of the situation. Poverty is the main subject for neorealist films, and Zavattini justifies this by saying he features poverty because it is the most important contemporary reality of the people. Neorealist films do not use professional actors either; the title character in Umberto D. was played by a university professor with no acting experience. This adds to the realism by having people who actually face the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness Illuminates the... Since the introduction of Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness into society, critics have debated over the meaning of the ambiguous title. There are many interpretations of this title, but the general consensus is that in the heart of darkness, you cannot do good: you can only be less evil. The title refers to not only the physical lack of light in the jungle, but also to the grim consequences of imperialism due to the stygian heart of mankind. The first meaning is that the heart of darkness refers to actual lack of light in the book, the jungle in particular. In the beginning of the novel, Marlow describes that the air was dark above Gravesend (3). This is foreshadowing of the looming darkness Marlow will face ahead. When Charlie reaches the edge of the jungle, he describes it as so dark green to be almost black (11). This refers to the caliginous jungle, but also the corruptive nature of the jungle as seen through the transformation of Kurtz. Another example of physical darkness occurs when darkness encroaches on Marlow and the listeners. Marlow describes it as being so pitch dark that we listeners could barely see each other (95). Marlow observes that the forest draws him in and seems beckon him to explore it. It had a treacherous appeal to the lurking death, to the hidden evil, to the profound darkness of its heart (36). Marlow recognizes the lightlessness, but is still drawn to it. This emphasizes the darkness every man and woman has within them. It is in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Consequences Of The Louisiana Purchase The Louisiana Purchase set a dangerous precedent as the President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson and Congress ignored the constitution when agreeing to purchase the territory. This purchase of land violated the limitations that Thomas Jefferson and Republicans had fought for while the Federalist party was in control of the Presidency and Congress. However, the political climate of France, Spain and the United States set the stage for Jefferson to violate his strict constructionist beliefs, to allow the Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase was the agreement to purchase the land west of the Mississippi River but east of the Rocky Mountains, and from the Canada Lake of the Woods in the north to the Gulf of Mexico in the south. This purchase would eventually lead to the formation of part or all of fifteen states. The agreement was between France and the United States of America. At one time this land had been under the control of Spain following the French and Indian war, but France ceded the land to Spain for payment of debts for the war. They do this to protect the inside forces of troops and clears out a root for them to attack. They did this type of tactic during the Persian Gulf War when we sent aircraft carriers into the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean and set up air forces and troops in the neighboring countries to set up an attack. We later launched sea and air attacks to weaken the forces in Iraq. We need these forces surrounding the area to launch missions to kill or damage the powerful sources and then we send in the troops to tack care of the rest, like taking hostages or capturing any of our hostages. The Cons are that HP would compare it to all the other larger departments and if it didn t perform as high as they did, they might sell it like they previously were planning to do. The pros of being under TSG is that ProCurve will not be compared to other departments, but rather the whole TSG will be, this will show more revenue from that department and if ProCurve didn t perform as well, it can be covered by other revenues. TSG can allocate more things to ProCurve faster and decisions can be done faster and on a smaller scale. The cons of being under TSG are that TSG can allocate things different and not really give ProCurve the attention it needs to grow to its potential, Sales and marketing ... • 42. How Did Jack Sparrow Fight In The Caribbean In the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Black Pearl there were four main characters involved in the fight scene. Firstly there was Elizabeth Swann (Kiera Knightley), Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), Commodore James Norrington (Jack Davenport) and Will Turner (Orlando Bloom). The reason the fight took place was as Jack Sparrow (Depp) came to the docks at Port Royal where they don t support pirates. When he arrived he saved Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) after she fell off the cliff into the water and he jumped in saving her, realising her corset. When they got out of the water the guards came and threatened Jack Sparrow (Depp), but Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) defended him but this backfired. He took her as a hostage and this is how the fight began. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Biography of Hermann Ludwig Ferdinand Helmholtz Background Hermann Ludwig Ferdinand Helmholtz was born August 31, 1821 in Potsdam, Prussia to the Potsdam Gymnasium instructor of philosophy and literature, August Ferdinand Julius Helmholtz and Caroline Penn, descendent of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania (Cite brit). A product of a rich, intellectual environment, Helmholtz grasped complex concepts in various academic subjects. His father introduced him to philosophies that inspired him to broaden his mindset and explore English, Science, and Mathematics, which led to an overwhelming interest in languages (including English and Italian), music, nature philosophy, art and physiology. A student of the gymnasium, Hermann von Helmholtz touched on subjects ranging from theoretical physics, to the age of the Earth, to the origin of the solar system (cite wiki). He showed great promise as a scholar and was bound to be a success. • 44. The New Zealand Essay The New Zealand (NZ) government essentially operates under the Westminster Parliamentary system (Palmer, 3). This system was derived from the British structure and adopted in 1947 (Palmer, 4). The defining characteristic of this system include the separation of government into three branches, the judicatory, legislator and the executive, with each preforming different roles in the law forming process (Palmer, 5). There is no absolute separation of power between these different branches, especially between the legislature and the executive branch of government. Although, the introduction of the Mixed Member Proportionality (MMP) electoral system has enhanced this separation through demanding more accountability from the executive branch. While MMP has improved the system, there are numerous recommendations that could be implemented to improve this accountability. The separation of power in the New Zealand parliamentary system is pertinent for an efficient and democratic government. The different branches of New Zealand government have to be detached to ensure that one does not act unconstitutionally, nor has undue power over another (New Zealand Parliament, 2014). Each branch has separate roles and acts as breaks to hold the other sectors accountable for their decisions (Palmer, 5). The legislator branch consists of members of Select Committees, Parliament and the Governor General (Palmer, 5). Their role in the system is to examine, debate and provide scrutiny over drafted ... • 45. 10 Things I Hate About You And The Taming Of The Shrew Hello and welcome respected audience of the Shakespeare Society. I would like to start today by thanking you for allowing me to speak on the topic of how the stereotypical roles of women have changed and evolved in a positive manner since the Elizabethan era. I will start by defining a few beneficial terms before discussing how Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew has been appropriated by Gil Junger s in the 1999 movie, 10 Things I Hate About You. To make a modern adaptation of a highly recognised 16th century play, one would have to have a perfect mix of both similarities and differences between the two, integrating elements from both eras. Junger, the director of 10 Things I Hate About You has managed to achieve this. By using many of the same characters and the same plot from Taming of the Shrew, he created a modernised appropriation of the Shakespeare play that incorporates aspects of teen society. The Taming of the Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You are similar in many ways, one way they are different however is how since the Elizabethan Era the nature and role of women in society has changed considerably. The Taming of the Shrew examines the way traditional 16th century notions about gender and its hierarchy are tested and reinforced in tempestuous relationships. While patriarchy rules supreme at the plays end, it s vital to consider the constant attempts to undermine the sexist assumptions about a women s place in marriage. In The Taming of the Shrew gender plays a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Role Of The Wto On Addressing Labour Standards Appropriate role of the WTO in addressing labour standards Introduction The relationship between international trade and labour standards is a key issue today. The relation defines the link between developing countries and advanced industrialized nations. International enforcement of labour standards is justifiable from two frontiers of arguments. The first one opines that unfair labour conditions and practices exist in many countries and trading partners and call for the need to offset an occurrence through appropriate trade policy measures in a bid to level the playing field (Elliott Richard 2003, p. 67). The proponents of the argument include organized social and labour activists. Secondly, other social activists contend that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 147). Such standards are aimed at enforcing the adherence to WTO agreements by trading countries that have signed and ratified the WTO agreement. Most issues dealt with by the WTO derive from previous trade negotiations such as the Uruguay Round (1986 1994). All measures are taken with the view of raising standards of living and ensuring full employment (Brown 200, p. 971). To achieve its objectives, it undertakes a series of trade liberalizing agreements reached on consensus from the WTO s members forming the General Council. Labour standards under the World Trade Organization (WTO) Labour Standards in the World Trade Organization refer to the binding rules forming part of the principles and jurisprudence applicable within the rule making structures of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The labour standards play a critical role within the WTO. Despite them being a backbone in the WTO, they form a prominent issue facing the WTO hence generating academic and economic debates (Rodrik 1997, p.37). The scope to which the WTO recognizes labour standards is based on the principles established in Conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and renowned human rights treaties such as the International Bill of Human Rights. Core Labour Standards The core labour standards are identified by the Declaration of the Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work by the International Labour Organization (ILO). • 47. President Hoover And Franklin D. Roosevelt During the 1920s, in the U.S. economy, stock prices were rapidly rising. Many people saw this as an opportunity to invest their money into the market, and multiply their cash. Despite warnings of a crash in the market, people kept on using their money even taking out loans to invest into the rapidly increasing market. Nevertheless, on October 29, 1929 the stock exchange crashed, and caused panic throughout the nation. This began an economic downturn that placed pressure on the President of the United States to fix the situation. Although both Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt were President during one of the hardest economic times in the nation s history, there are many differences in the approach each President took to attempt to fix The Great Depression, which caused different changes in the economy. During Herbert Hoover s time in the White House, is when disaster struck. Many people, at the time, believed that President Hoover was the ideal person to have in office due to his background, and knowledge of economics. President Hoover s understanding of economics is what initially allowed him to predict that a crash in the nation s market was inevitable; yet, did not take any actions about it because he worried that when the market went down, he would receive the blame. Nevertheless, when the market bust occurred, President Hoover did take many incentives to attempt to fix the economy. Primarily President Hoover called on people to engage in voluntary ...
