Neptune, The Ice Planet
Neptune:the ice planet
When was Neptune discovered? Neptune was the very first planet to be discovered by using math!
(mathematics). After the discovery of Uranus in 1781, astronomers noticed that the planet was being
pulled a little bit out of its normal orbit. John Couch Adams of Britain and Urbain Jean Joseph
Leverrier of France, used math to figure out that the gravity from another planet beyond Uranus was
affecting the orbit of Uranus. They figured out not only where the planet was, but also how much mass
it had. A young astronomer, Johann Gottfried Galle, decided to search for the predicted planet and
observed Neptune for the first time in 1846. http://coolcosmos.ipac.caltech.edu/ask/146 When was

Neptune was discovered by Jean Joseph Le Verrier. The planet was not known to ancient civilizations
because it is not visible to the naked eye. The planet was initially called Le Verrier after its discoverer.
This name, however, quickly was abandoned and the name Neptune was chosen instead.

Business Continuity Planning and Strategic Pre-Incident...
Essay: Business Continuity and strategic pre incident changes the company would follow to ensure the
well being of the enterprise.
Pre Incident Planning:
Good Business Continuity Planning starts with being proactive. That means taking concrete steps to
plan for an incident much before it actually strikes. There is no one single approach that fits for all
types of incidents as no two emergencies are identical. Much of business continuity planning varies
based on the size of the company, company s line of business, and the locations of the company,
customers and suppliers.

Long Distance Relationships Essay
Long Distance Relationships: Can They Work? Two clichés: Absence makes the heart grow fonder
and Out of sight, out of mind. Which one of these two conflicting views is closer to the reality? As it
turns out, it does not really matter that much since long distance relationships (LDR) suffer from
exactly the same strengths and weaknesses as proximal relationships. Whether two people are going to
have fulfilling relationship does not only depend on their geographical closeness. What matters is
quality, not quantity. According to one expert on LDRs, the majority of studies that have been done
show no greater risk of an LDR breaking up than any other relationship (Guldner, 2004, p. 6). An
LDR relationship has the same likelihood of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I approached him: he immediately remembered me and we spend next few hours engaged in
conversation discovering that we share similar opinions on many issues. Before I could even recover
from the initial shock of seeing him again, he asked me to go out for a walk with him the next day. I
agreed and that was the beginning of our relationship. He had been divorced for ten years and had
made a decision to never marry again. I had normally dated men closer to my age (in one case even
younger than me) and would have never contemplated dating (much less marry) somebody 21 years
older then me. However, the unlikely happened to both of us. A few months after our first date we got
married. Today, five years later, we have two beautiful children and have been living in a long distance
marriage for three and a half years. It is definitely not easy for us to maintain a successful marriage
being an ocean apart. Our relationship, as any other, has its strengths and its weaknesses. What I find
the most important is the constant feeling of strong commitment, warmth and mutual emotional
dependability. These feelings compensate for the lack of one extremely important ingredient: good
communication. Intimacy requires that partners are able to talk about anything and to feel understood
by the loved one. It became apparent during our marriage that neither of us have solid communication
skills.

Analysis Of The Story Shenzhen
Overview The story of Shenzhen always begins with lyrics from a song: In 1979, an old man drew a
circle at the South Sea of China written by Jiang Kairu ( A Story of Spring ). The old man, Deng
Xiaoping, still enjoyed a prestigious reputation among old generations because of opening China to
foreign investment and the global market, and supporting the market economy. If Shenzhen is the
circle, then for many people, Deng is the designer that drew it. As the first special economic zone
established in China, Shenzhen developed from a small town in Guangdong Province to a metropolis
with more than fifteen million people. The sudden increase in population from different areas makes
Shenzhen a diverse and vibrant city in China, and it ranks 22 in Global Financial Centres Index, even
above Beijing ( GFCI ).
Geography
Shenzhen belongs to Guangdong Province, the southmost Province on the mainland China. Although
Shenzhen is a coastal city about one degree below the Northern Tropic ( Shenzhen, China latitude
longitude ), it is still not the southmost city in Guangdong Province. Cities often have special names
that reflect its trait historically. Guangzhou, for example, is sometimes called the city of sheep due to
the ancient legend of five immortals riding on sheep who brought fortune and good harvest to the
farmers (citation). Shenzhen, on the other hand, had never showed any significance in history until it
became the Special Economic Zone. Lack in legendary tales did not

Essay It Takes Warships and Commandos to Fight Pirates on...
In the last decade, piracy at sea has been a common headline in news publications around the world.
News from cargo ships hijacked and their crews kidnapped for ransom off the coast of Africa almost
seem to be an everyday cry for action from the international community. This illegal activity, common
since the first merchant vessels sailed the seas many centuries ago, has been a problem that
civilization has yet to resolve. However, the maritime shipping industry and the world s most invested
countries in maritime trade have responded effectively to these attacks in the past few years by taking
matters into their own hands. Specifically, many countries around the world have been deploying anti
piracy naval task forces to piracy hot spots ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They understand that their skiffs and small weapons are no real match against the manpower,
firepower, and endurance of a naval vessel. At the same time, these criminals also understand that anti
piracy navy operations are expensive and cannot cover the entire Gulf of Aden. Once pirates get
control of a ship, it is very unusual for naval forces to be able to intervene successfully; the risks to the
ship s crew are too high says Hughes (2013, para. 10). With this in mind, shipping companies
approached this problem with a hands on strategy.
To put it differently, naval patrols off the coast of Somalia have not been as effective against piracy as
expected. Consequently, the maritime shipping industry turned to the private security industry for a
solution. As a result, most ships that transit piracy hot spots like the Gulf of Aden have armed security
teams on board, much like mercenaries. According to Rix (as cited in Tide turns against pirates, 2013),
ships provided with an armed security detail have never been successfully hijacked. The fight is
always short when pirates attack armed cargo ships. In the vast majority of cases, the commandos
onboard repel pirate attacks without major difficulties due to their higher ground position, tactical
training, and better weapons. A simple show of force or an occasional warning shot is normally
enough for pirates to back down.
In essence, taking the fight

Religion Affects Daily Life
How does Religion Affect Daily Lives?
The purpose of religion is to control yourself, not to criticise others. Dalai Lama. Religion is not
something people blindly follow for the hope of reaching heaven. At one point or another in life, every
person encounters the moment where they make the decision of being an active religious person, a
religious person but don t attend church, or don t believe in a superior power. Whether a person
chooses option one, two, or three, each choice brings consequences and a different life with that
choice. People live a different kind of life, with different goals to reach, and what kind of life a person
may want to live. Religion has a profound effect on people s daily lives, and the areas it affects are
work life, family life, and the standards a person holds.
Work Life
It happens to everyone, people are at work (or school) and have a project due on Monday, but they see
the clock ticking closer and closer to 5pm, and have that urge to slip out a few mins early so they can
get ahead of schedule on ordering the wings and pizza and getting good movie tickets. The
consequence of doing this is the person having to choose whether to finish the project on Saturday,
Sunday, or if the person really wants to push it, Monday morning. So what option are you going to
take?
Work Smarter, Not Harder
Full time committed religious people know the regular weekend schedule. Saturday is the day to sleep
in, cook some good breakfast, and take the kids

The Levels Of Government In The United States
The government affects Americans in several ways that many fail to realize. One could not walk down
the street without seeing the government s effect on our everyday lives. The questions we may have
though are what are the levels of government? What is federalism? How does the government affect
individuals every day? Do we need government? Do Americans appreciate the importance of our
government? These are all questions that will be answered for we as individuals must understand how
this government works before we can make a difference in bettering this country. The spheres (Levels)
of government include National, State (Provincial), and Local. It is these three spheres of government
that affect our day to day life. The national government provides the states with protection, enough
power to maintain foreign policy, and the ability to collect taxes. The state government as stated in the
federalist papers State Governments, will have the advantage with regard to the predilection and
support of the people. (Hamilton, Jay, Madison 259), for the states have those powers of not expressed
to the federal government in the constitution. Local government is the administration of a town,
district, or county within a state that provides citizens of that area with representatives to uphold the
laws of those living in the area. Federalism can be defined as, ...a system of government in which
entities such as states or provinces share power with a national government. The United

The Civil War Era Was A Period Of Major Medical...
The Civil War era was a period of major medical advancement. New breakthroughs during this time
period had a great effect on the results of the battles and the war as a whole. Advancements in medical
procedures, sanitation, infection control, field hospitals and triage, nursing techniques, and the
development of the American Red Cross all greatly impacted the mortality rates of soldiers in both the
Union and the Confederate armies during the American Civil War in both positive and negative ways.
Amputations were the most effective and renowned surgical technique during this time period.
Amputations were wildly taboo procedures that caused much controversy at the time. By some they
were considered butchery and many questioned the military surgeons qualifications to perform such
aberrant procedures. One doctor wrote, The surgery of these battle fields has been pronounced
butchery. Gross misrepresentations of the medical officers have been made and scattered broadcast
over the country, causing deep and heart rending anxiety to those who had friends or relatives in the
army, who might at any moment require the services of a surgeon.... Despite their contentious
depictions, amputations proved to be extremely effective. As opposed to losing three fourths of their
patients afflicted by gunshot wounds to blood loss and infection they now lost only one fourth of
them. Amputations also proved effective in improving the lives of the afflicted soldiers. Instead of
having to live

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA: THE ROLE OF INDIVIDUAL ENTERPRISE (AND
ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT)
Anil K. Lal* and Ronald W. Clement**
The Indian economy provides a revealing contrast between how individuals react under a government
controlled environment and how they respond to a market based environment. Evidence suggests that
recent market reforms that encouraged individual enterprise have led to higher economic growth in
that country. India can generate additional economic growth by fostering entrepreneurial activity
within its borders. To pursue further the entrepreneurial approach to economic growth, India must now
provide opportunities for (1) education directed specifically at entrepreneurial skills, (2) financing of

Based on the successful experience of the former Soviet Union, many economists and policymakers
concluded that, particularly in a poor country, planning was essential for the efficient allocation of an
economy s resources (Panagariya, 1994, p. 194).
1
The history of U.S. business has shown how the pursuit of self interest by individual economic agents
has led to benefits for the larger society. Consider the well known example of Henry Ford s
introduction of assembly line production. This technological advancement led to a significant increase
in productivity at Ford Motor Company. Indeed, despite paying higher wages to his workers, Ford
could still produce automobiles at a much lower cost and pass on part of that lower cost to consumers
in terms of lower prices.

Moreover, it is not uncommon for this student to represent the community college as an athlete; in
keeping with traditional four year colleges and universities, student athletes enjoy the benefit of
housing as one prong of their athletic scholarship package, i.e. tuition, room and board. Other
attributes include vast numbers of first generation students, students of color, and full time students.
Perhaps the rationale behind the lack of on campus housing offered at community colleges, which is in
stark contrast to that of four year colleges and universities, is the fact that a large number of
community college students live in the community, or the urban community colleges are situated
whereby students may make use of mass transit means to get back and forth. This is how the system
has always been designed, a single loop approach. Conversely, if one were to apply the double loop
approach, which allows for organizations, in this instance the community colleges, to exercise more
degree of flexibility and. It will further permit student affairs administrators to delve more deeply into
their fundamental ideas, while meeting head on some of the policies and challenges they face in
developing new strategies in meeting the growing demands of the 21st Century community college

Cesar Chavez Rhetorical Analysis
Cesar Chavez, a civil rights leader fighting for improving pay and working conditions of farmers,
employs the use of nonviolence resistance in his role as a leader of the United Farm Workers. As a
child, Chavez and his family worked as farmers on a field as migrant workers who were most likely
treated in an unjust manner and thus, he dedicated his life to improving the conditions for all farmers.
To honor Martin Luther King Jr. on the 10th anniversary of his death, Chavez wrote to a religious
magazine that helps people in need about the benefits of nonviolent resistance. Throughout his letter,
Chavez applies rhetorical devices such as pathos, diction, and juxtaposition to persuade and inform
people about how powerful and effective nonviolence techniques can be for civil rights.
Multiple times, throughout the text, Chavez uses pathos to appeal emotionally to his audience. Chavez
builds a connection and empathy with the readers and persuades them to be people who fight for
causes nonviolently. In the sixth paragraph Chaves states that, men and women who are truly
concerned about people are non violent by nature. These people become violent when the deep
concern they have for people is frustrated and when they are faced with seemingly insurmountable
odds. Chavez states that everyone who actually cares about people should be nonviolent, that they
shouldn t have to resort to violence because they don t need it. This quote builds a connection and
causes self reflection for the

Cultural Similarities Between Japan And South Korea And Japan
Nations in Asia have broadly been considered to have many features in common so it is quite difficult
to distinguish them. In fact, a considerable number of differences among those countries can be
learned if we take a deep look into their various aspects. This is typically true of Japan and South
Korea, even though they may show tremendous similarities, their differences are evident. Despite the
fact that Korea and Japan both hold outstanding positions in terms of economic growth, the cultural
features they possess are remarkably different. To begin with, the economic success of Korea and
Japan is mainly accounted for their export power and tourism industry. Regarding export capacity, the
economies of these two countries are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The culinary tradition difference between the two countries can be identified from the level of
sophistication. Food from Japan shows exceptional focus on the beauty of serving which is often
recognized by the term moritsuke . Japanese specially pay attention to how food is arranged on the
plate. Furthermore, they even establish multiple strict rules of food arrangement. For example, the
dish should never be fully covered or filled with food; instead, the balance between the empty and the
occupied space should be maintained at certain level (Ashkenazi and Jacob, 161). Conversely, Korean
meals have no such rules concerning their food and its appearance, making Korean meals much
simpler than Japanese meals. A typical Korean meal usually consists of a bowl of rice and vegetable
soup. Sometimes, there are a few side dishes served on the table for more flavors such as various
kinds of kimchi (Clark, 103). Regarding lifestyle, people from Japan reveal more sophisticated
manners and habits than Korean do. Japanese have predilection for sipping tea in the afternoon, which
is customarily conducted under their artistic tea culture. In addition, they possess a mysterious way of
silence communication known as chinmoku that only Japanese themselves can understand (Davies,

Money that was well deserved by the citizens was stripped away by a corrupt government. It was a
cycle: The parents could not afford an education. With no education means no job to pay bills. They
became homeless. Their children were forced to grow up in depravity, with no schooling either, and
thus begins the cycle anew. Katie Majors began to realize that the children who didn t go to school
simply couldn t afford the mere USD $20 that it costed. To the undernourished and homeless families
on the street, that was a fortune. Majors decided to change that. She started Amazima Ministries,
dedicated to providing school funds, hot meals, and the Gospel. Amazima is still growing and
prospering today. She began assisting those who were infected with diseases such as AIDS and HIV,
as well as helping care for the injured. Agnes, a young girl who fell prey to injury, had been the sole

when Majors found them. Their father had died of disease and their mother had fled in fear of being a

disconnection from the natural environment which is a disadvantage of urbanization. The strength of
this source lies in its relevance as it will provide sufficient information for the research topic with
regard to the effects and disadvantages of urbanization.
This book focuses attention on the socio economic and environmental effects of rapid urbanization
and population growth in the developing countries with particular reference to Africa. This source is
useful as the author analyzes the magnitude and causes of urbanization and considers the impact of
rapid urbanization on climate change, phenomena whose spiral effect extends to the future impact of
global warming, health, food security and environmental change. As climatic and environmental
effects of urbanization are most visible in major urban cities, the author also considers the
implications of urbanization on food supply and human security.

Replacing the Current Income Tax Structure with the FairTax Plan
It is the general agreement of tax payers everywhere that the current tax system is way too
complicated. You either need to have a certified public accountant help you do them or a specialized
tax program to walk you through it. Not only that, but the costs associated with having someone
prepare your taxes or buying the specialized computer program needed to navigate the myriad of
entangled tax codes and laws can become quite expensive. But it is not only expensive for us, the
individual tax payer, but it is also expensive for businesses and it is extremely expensive for the

The President placed upon the panel stipulations as to what types of recommendations could be made,
such as reducing the cost of compliance, having to base at least one recommendation on the current
tax structure and that all recommendations had to be revenue neutral, meaning they had to be able to
collect the same amount of taxes that the government was projected to collect under the current tax
structure. Unfortunately, due to those stipulations imposed upon the panel, they were limited in what
they could recommend. Even in today s environment, in a news article by Fox Business, President
Trump has recently talked about a major tax reform.
Unfortunately, all of these reforms are simply trying to patch up the current income tax system when
what is really needed is a complete replacement to a new tax system. One of the better alternative tax
systems being proposed is the National Retail Sales Tax (NRST), also known as the FairTax.
The FairTax plan, which was originally introduced back in 1999, was reintroduced by House

Foils in Othello
The Foils of Othello One of William Shakespeare s many attributes as a playwright of the late 16th
century was his character development. Shakespeare s seamless use of indirect characterization sets
his works apart from the other playwrights and authors of his time. In Othello, the Shakespearian
tragedy about the newlywed Othello and Desdemona, Shakespeare uses character foils to emphasize
the strengths and weaknesses of the characters. By making inwardly similar characters seem like polar
opposites, Shakespeare truly shows how dynamic each of the characters is. Othello, the play s
protagonist, is the most dynamic character of them all due to the fact that he is a complete foil of
himself by the final act of the play. In the second act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that he was corruptible, but he was very quick to build hate for his wife, but slow to believe her pleas

Comparing Voltaire s Candide And Optimism
Voltaire s Candide and Optimism
Francois Marie Arouet, better known by his pen name Voltaire, is one of the greatest French writers of
the eighteenth century, and is the personification of the Enlightenment period. His most celebrated
work, Candide (1759), specifically exhibits his Age of Reason ideals. Voltaire broke new ground by
using rejection. In Candide Voltaire introduces the oppositional philosophy of optimism , denounces
optimism as naïve and a facile perspective, and ultimately describes his enlightened ideals.
Firstly, Voltaire illustrates optimism in Candide through the character Dr. Pangloss. Optimism was a
popular perspective in the early 18th century. Alexander Pope effectively explained optimism in his
Essay on Man. Pope believed that God is perfect as is his divine plan and everything that occurs is
what should be, he said, whatever is, is right (458). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During one of the later and most telling passages of the text, Candide, now a philosophical equal to
Pangloss, exchanges outlooks on the assortment of misfortunes with his once mentor. Pangloss, the
architect of optimism, shares his usual blind optimism despite realizing its obsoleteness, he maintained
that everything would turn out right in some marvelous way, he still maintained it would, however
little he believed it (176). By the end of the novel Candide has found middle ground between Pangloss
s optimistic folly and James s (and later Martin s) pessimism. Candide decides it is best to
acknowledge the evils in our world, but to also actively pursue a better world, after a conversation
with a humble Turkish farmer. The farmer explains, we find that work banishes the three great evils,
boredom, vice and poverty (177). Candide closes the novel explaining that life parallels a garden and
we must cultivate it, we must go work in our garden

Jerk Seasoning
While much of the unique flavor of the jerk style of cooking has to do with the type of wood used to
smoke the meat, a lot of has to do with the seasoning. Jerk seasoning s seasonings flavor is as complex
as it is pungent. While it has a distinctive flavor, it can be replaced if you cannot find a prepackaged
blend or are out of it. If you need a jerk seasoning substitute, consider the options below.
Make your own
As with many spice blends, the easiest way to replace it is simply to make your own. Like most spice
blends from outside of the US, traditional jerk seasoning is usually made by the cook. Making your
own blend may be more necessary with jerk seasoning due to the fact that its ingredients do not show

Jerk seasoning relies heavily on the flavor of allspice and heat from the scotch bonnet, so you will
want to do your best to get these two. Try to get whole allspice and grind the seeds yourself. This will
ensure that you get the most pungent flavor possible from them. Get fresh scotch bonnet chiles as
well, though you can use just about any hot chile to provide the heat. Next on your priority list should
be thyme, garlic and green onions. Note that a traditional jerk seasoning blend can also contain ginger

Aversion Therapy Research Paper
Conversion therapy, also known as reparative therapy, is any treatment that aims to change a person s
sexual orientation from homosexual to heterosexual. A heterosexual is a person who is sexually
attracted only to people of the opposite sex, and a homosexual is an individual who is sexually
attracted to others of the same sex. There are different ways to go through conversion therapy.
Conversion therapists use a range of approaches that can include general therapy, prayer, hypnosis, or
aversion therapy. General therapy can be conducted by people who do not have psychology degrees,
such as people with strong religious affiliation, or people who have underwent the therapy and believe
it to be successful. Aversion therapy is one of the most controversial ... Show more content on

There is no real evidence that supports the use of any kind of conversion or reparative therapy. In one
article published by the International Society of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurses it states: there is no
conclusive evidence that reparative therapy is beneficial to patients. Although success rates for these
therapies range from 11% (complete change in females) to 37% (complete change in males (Spitzer,
2003), it is unclear if participants were homosexual or bisexual prior to starting therapy in many of
these studies. Additionally, success in therapy has been defined in various ways from complete
conversion to heterosexual desires and behavior to continued homosexual attraction in the context of

Critical Analysis Of Evidence Based Practice
Critical Analysis of Evidence
Pressure ulcers occur over bony prominences when skin is compressed for long periods of time,
affecting the blood supply to certain areas, leading to ischaemia development (Waugh and Grant,
2001). Compression of skin is caused by pressure, shearing and friction, but can also occur due to
pressure exerted by medical equipment (Randle, Coffey and Bradbury, 2009). NICE (2014) states that
the prevalence of pressure ulcers in different healthcare settings in December 2013 was 4.7%, taken
from data available for 186,000 patients. The cost of treating ulcers can vary depending on severity
from £43 up to £374 (NICE, 2014). Evidence based practice skills are essential in nursing as it allows
the best available evidence to be used to improve practice and patient care, while improving decision
making (Holland and Rees, 2010). I will be critiquing two research papers; qualitative and
quantitative, using a framework set out by Holland and Rees (2010), and will explore the impact on
practice. Using a framework provides a standardised method of assessing quality and reduces
subjectivity.
What influences the impact of pressure ulcers on health related quality of life? A qualitative patient

Theme Of Silence In Waiting For Godot
Postmodern literature depicts the degradation of human psyche and the struggle of the man to find his
identity after destruction that the World War II caused to the humanity. The war ruined the human
values and every human being had lost the sense of moral and immoral. Harold Pinter s The Dumb
Waiter and Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot belong to the postmodern literary category that
showcase in the most comic and tragic way the pessimistic vision of humanity struggling vainly to
find a purpose in their existence. Vladimir and Estragon, Ben and Gus are the hopeless and anxious

Chromebook Advantages And Disadvantages
We ve all heard about electronics in schools, whether you are a parent who has been called repeatedly
about your kid being glued to it in class or one of said students, it has been present. The Chromebook
has been regarded as a way to revolutionize learning, but it also has a slew of consequences. So we are
left with the everlasting question of whether or not it is a viable method of learning.
It can be seen that there are obvious disadvantages in the system, but some other effects, whether it
has to do with health, the environment, or costs, go unnoticed by the general populous. In a study done
by the American Optometric Association, it is shown that using computers in school increases the
odds of a problem called Computer Vision Syndrome, which causes problems such as headaches,
eyestrain, dry eyes, and blurred vision. Another medical problem has been given the lovely name Text
Neck . It is a condition that is caused by exerting more pressure on the upper vertebrae of the spine,
which causes wear and tear on the spine and could result in mass amounts of pain or required surgery.
Also to be noted, it takes 79 gallons of water, 33 pounds of miscellaneous minerals, and 100 kilowatt
hours of energy, while printing a textbook requires about 2 kilowatt hours of energy and two thirds of
a pound of materials. While we re on the subject, let s talk about costs. While textbooks may seem

Due to the fast pace of urbanization and population growth in urban centers, the pace and growth rate
have outstripped the carrying capacity and resources being used to maintain public health standards,
environmental conditions, sanitation, and sustainable economic growth. (Adedeji, 2005) Urbanization
is a growing global issue and its impact is inevitable in Nigeria. Due to the many challenges posed by
the diverse problems associated with urbanization, the need for sustainable development in Nigeria is
immediately required especially from the government and developers who are responsible for urban
growth. The right policies and incentives need to be put in place if we are to have any hope in
preserving the existing cities and surrounding environments of these flourishing urban centers not only
for the well being of inhabitants, both physically and economically, but also for the future survival of
Lagos. Urbanization is defined as the ability of urban areas and their immediate regions to be able to
function at levels currently obtained and to maintain the quality of life residents have without reducing
options available to them in the current or future generations. Urbanization is a process of human
agglomeration in multi functional settlement of relatively substantial size. (Mabogunje, 1985) This

Ruth Is A Biblical Story
Ruth is a Biblical story loved by many. A story of God s unexpected plan panning out in a style that
only He could come up with inspires many to trust His direction. The movie, titled The Story of Ruth,
conveys this message though the movie does not always adhere to perfect Biblical accuracy. The
addition of certain events and characters enhances the movie s appeal, yet distracts from the factual
account presented in the Bible. The movie begins with Ruth being sold for service to Chemosh in
order for her family to be fed. After being sold, she is required to worship and serve Chemosh. The
Moabites, to appease Chemosh, have an annual sacrifice of one of the children. Ruth is chosen by the
priest to be sacrificed and suddenly a blemish appears on the crook of her elbow causing the priest to
select a different sacrifice. The blemish suddenly vanishes after the priest selects another girl to be
sacrificed. The blemish s quick appearance and disappearance demonstrate that Ruth is destined to be
used by God for something greater and that He will not have her die for a false god. Upon meeting
Mahlon, she is slowly converting to Judaism through Mahlon s teaching of creation, prayer, and love.
She begins to question the ways of Chemosh and the annual sacrifice, leading to her eventually leave
the kingdom to follow God. Elimelech and Chilion die at the hands of the Moabite army while Ruth
and Mahlon are held captive. After the escape, Mahlon lives just long enough to marry Ruth. Ruth

Twisted Tornadoes
Whats a tornado s favorite game? Twister! Tornadoes cause a lot of damage, because they have high
wind speeds, kill and injure people, cover large amounts of land, they can mix with wild fire to cause
firenadoes, and they are on the ground so they are close to people and structures. Tornadoes happen
most often in the spring time, which is why it is called tornado season. Tornado Alley is where the
most tornadoes happen annually. Tornado Alley includes Oklahoma, Kansas, the Texas Panhandle,
Nebraska, Eastern South Dakota, and Eastern Colorado(12 Twisted Tornado Facts.).
A tornado is a type of natural disaster. Tornadoes are violent and destructive windstorms that happen
on land(Tornado). A windstorm cannot be considered a tornado until it has touched the ground.
Tornadoes form when moist warm air is trapped under cold dry air. When the warm air is pushed up, if
the conditions are right, the air will start to spin and a tornado will form(12 Twisted Tornado Facts).
Tornadoes can be very dangerous if you are caught in one, like the people of St. Louis in 1896, or the
people caught in the tornadoes of the tornado outbreak in 1974. In the past we didn t have technology

Archetypal Characters and Symbols in The Phantom of the Opera
The story of The Phantom of the Opera appeals to many types of personalities and people of all ages
because of its archetypal characters and patterns. Carl Jung theorized that we are born with innate
tendencies to perceive things a certain way: a kind of readiness to reproduce over and over again the
same or similar mythical ideas . . . 1. These repeated ideas are archetypes. The basic legend of The
Phantom takes place in 19th century Paris, and is that of a young and talented, but untrained singer
named Christine. Erik, the Phantom, is a disfigured genius of many fields, including music,
architecture, magic, and science. His fatal flaw stems from his ... Show more content on

The children s version, meant for 8 to 12 year olds, is the most like the original 1920s Gaston Leroux
version. One of the few things that is changed, other than the overall abbreviation of the novel, is
simplification of the language. For example, Erik begins describing himself by saying, I was ugly.
Worse than ugly 3. This straightforward, childlike language puts the novel at the preteen reading level
while preserving Erik s crucial description. The Phantom of the Opera is the most popular book in
Random House Publishing s youth Bullseye Chiller series, above other tales of vampires, werewolves,
mummies, and witches4. Even children can identify with the love triangle among the three main
characters Erik, Christine and Raoul. They probably still pity his unrequited love for Christine, and the
way in which he was mistreated. Night Magic, another adaptation, is much lighter reading and aimed
at a different audience than the more literary variations. Night Magic is the modern day romance
version of Phantom, spanning two decades. Erik becomes a reclusive scarred contractor, and Christine
is now Marisa, a spoiled and orphaned teenager with a beautiful voice. The traditional Erik kills
without a thought when he feels threatened, while Erik s most raging moment in Night Magic consists
of him throwing a stool across the room when a client has been flirtatious with Marisa5. This
adaptation is lacking the dangerous side of Erik, so as not to scare

Bullying And Its Effects On America s Schools Today
Bullying, often labeled as just a part of growing up, is a major problem in America s schools today.
Although it is such a hot topic in our country right now, it is also a long ignored problem that only
seems to worsen. The complication with bullying is that no one quite understands it, and it is not taken
seriously. The definition of bullying is an overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates
smaller or weaker people. In more simple terms, bullying is not a onetime incident; it is repetitive and
happens among individuals when there is an imbalance of power. Statistically, every one in six
children are bullied, and this cannot continue to take place. Every child has the right to feel safe and
have the pursuit of being happy in which bullying completely takes those rights away. There has been
conflict among people since the beginning of time, but when did bullying actually start? In her book,
Bullying, Beth Rosenthal states that we are living in a culture that encourages dominance and
competition (63). America s culture has allowed bullying to become acceptable which is such a
terrible matter. Not only is it an accepted part of our society today, but bullying is embedded in our
DNA which is no wonder bullying has escalated so quickly over time. Many adults today claim that
bullying was not around when they were attending school, and instead it was just labeled as boys
being boys or girls being mean. However, bullying has always been around which draws

How Advertising Has Changed Since The World Of Pay Per...
Advertising has changed significantly since the introduction of the Internet. In the past, advertising
mediums such as radio, print, and television ads dominated companies marketing plans. As the
Internet gained prevalence, more and more of companies money has been siphoned into email, social
media, and Pay Per Click advertising. In recent years, this has led to marketers placing more and more
weight on analysis like Click Through Rate, Cost Per Click, and Cost Per Acquisition. All of these
terms exist within the world of Pay Per Click advertising, which has become one of the most
prominent forms of advertising on the internet. Due to society s increased reliance on the Internet, Pay
Per Click advertising will continue to grow for years to come. Pay Per Click advertising, or PPC,
refers to the type of advertising commonly found on Google, Bing, other search engines, and even
within some websites. One example of how PPC advertising works is Google AdWords. This is the
software which allows advertisers to publish their ads on Google, and having a basic understanding of
how it works is key to being able to understand why PPC is as important as it is. To begin with, the
simplest form of PPC are the text ads at the top of a Google search. These are a part of the Google
Search Network, and they often look almost the same as organic search results (organic results are
results that appear without any money being spent). The ads appear at the top of the page, and, in case

  • 2. Neptune, The Ice Planet Neptune:the ice planet When was Neptune discovered? Neptune was the very first planet to be discovered by using math! (mathematics). After the discovery of Uranus in 1781, astronomers noticed that the planet was being pulled a little bit out of its normal orbit. John Couch Adams of Britain and Urbain Jean Joseph Leverrier of France, used math to figure out that the gravity from another planet beyond Uranus was affecting the orbit of Uranus. They figured out not only where the planet was, but also how much mass it had. A young astronomer, Johann Gottfried Galle, decided to search for the predicted planet and observed Neptune for the first time in 1846. http://coolcosmos.ipac.caltech.edu/ask/146 When was Neptune discovered WHAT IS THE SURFACE OF NEPTUNE LIKE ? Pre Incident Planning: Good Business Continuity Planning starts with being proactive. That means taking concrete steps to plan for an incident much before it actually strikes. There is no one single approach that fits for all types of incidents as no two emergencies are identical. Much of business continuity planning varies based on the size of the company, company s line of business, and the locations of the company, customers and suppliers. • 4. Long Distance Relationships Essay Long Distance Relationships: Can They Work? Two clichés: Absence makes the heart grow fonder and Out of sight, out of mind. Which one of these two conflicting views is closer to the reality? As it turns out, it does not really matter that much since long distance relationships (LDR) suffer from exactly the same strengths and weaknesses as proximal relationships. Whether two people are going to have fulfilling relationship does not only depend on their geographical closeness. What matters is quality, not quantity. According to one expert on LDRs, the majority of studies that have been done show no greater risk of an LDR breaking up than any other relationship (Guldner, 2004, p. 6). An LDR relationship has the same likelihood of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I approached him: he immediately remembered me and we spend next few hours engaged in conversation discovering that we share similar opinions on many issues. Before I could even recover from the initial shock of seeing him again, he asked me to go out for a walk with him the next day. I agreed and that was the beginning of our relationship. He had been divorced for ten years and had made a decision to never marry again. I had normally dated men closer to my age (in one case even younger than me) and would have never contemplated dating (much less marry) somebody 21 years older then me. However, the unlikely happened to both of us. A few months after our first date we got married. Today, five years later, we have two beautiful children and have been living in a long distance marriage for three and a half years. It is definitely not easy for us to maintain a successful marriage being an ocean apart. Our relationship, as any other, has its strengths and its weaknesses. What I find the most important is the constant feeling of strong commitment, warmth and mutual emotional dependability. These feelings compensate for the lack of one extremely important ingredient: good communication. Intimacy requires that partners are able to talk about anything and to feel understood by the loved one. It became apparent during our marriage that neither of us have solid communication skills. ... • 5. Analysis Of The Story Shenzhen Overview The story of Shenzhen always begins with lyrics from a song: In 1979, an old man drew a circle at the South Sea of China written by Jiang Kairu ( A Story of Spring ). The old man, Deng Xiaoping, still enjoyed a prestigious reputation among old generations because of opening China to foreign investment and the global market, and supporting the market economy. If Shenzhen is the circle, then for many people, Deng is the designer that drew it. As the first special economic zone established in China, Shenzhen developed from a small town in Guangdong Province to a metropolis with more than fifteen million people. The sudden increase in population from different areas makes Shenzhen a diverse and vibrant city in China, and it ranks 22 in Global Financial Centres Index, even above Beijing ( GFCI ). Geography Shenzhen belongs to Guangdong Province, the southmost Province on the mainland China. Although Shenzhen is a coastal city about one degree below the Northern Tropic ( Shenzhen, China latitude longitude ), it is still not the southmost city in Guangdong Province. Cities often have special names that reflect its trait historically. Guangzhou, for example, is sometimes called the city of sheep due to the ancient legend of five immortals riding on sheep who brought fortune and good harvest to the farmers (citation). Shenzhen, on the other hand, had never showed any significance in history until it became the Special Economic Zone. Lack in legendary tales did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay It Takes Warships and Commandos to Fight Pirates on... In the last decade, piracy at sea has been a common headline in news publications around the world. News from cargo ships hijacked and their crews kidnapped for ransom off the coast of Africa almost seem to be an everyday cry for action from the international community. This illegal activity, common since the first merchant vessels sailed the seas many centuries ago, has been a problem that civilization has yet to resolve. However, the maritime shipping industry and the world s most invested countries in maritime trade have responded effectively to these attacks in the past few years by taking matters into their own hands. Specifically, many countries around the world have been deploying anti piracy naval task forces to piracy hot spots ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They understand that their skiffs and small weapons are no real match against the manpower, firepower, and endurance of a naval vessel. At the same time, these criminals also understand that anti piracy navy operations are expensive and cannot cover the entire Gulf of Aden. Once pirates get control of a ship, it is very unusual for naval forces to be able to intervene successfully; the risks to the ship s crew are too high says Hughes (2013, para. 10). With this in mind, shipping companies approached this problem with a hands on strategy. To put it differently, naval patrols off the coast of Somalia have not been as effective against piracy as expected. Consequently, the maritime shipping industry turned to the private security industry for a solution. As a result, most ships that transit piracy hot spots like the Gulf of Aden have armed security teams on board, much like mercenaries. According to Rix (as cited in Tide turns against pirates, 2013), ships provided with an armed security detail have never been successfully hijacked. The fight is always short when pirates attack armed cargo ships. In the vast majority of cases, the commandos onboard repel pirate attacks without major difficulties due to their higher ground position, tactical training, and better weapons. A simple show of force or an occasional warning shot is normally enough for pirates to back down. In essence, taking the fight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Religion Affects Daily Life How does Religion Affect Daily Lives? The purpose of religion is to control yourself, not to criticise others. Dalai Lama. Religion is not something people blindly follow for the hope of reaching heaven. At one point or another in life, every person encounters the moment where they make the decision of being an active religious person, a religious person but don t attend church, or don t believe in a superior power. Whether a person chooses option one, two, or three, each choice brings consequences and a different life with that choice. People live a different kind of life, with different goals to reach, and what kind of life a person may want to live. Religion has a profound effect on people s daily lives, and the areas it affects are work life, family life, and the standards a person holds. Work Life It happens to everyone, people are at work (or school) and have a project due on Monday, but they see the clock ticking closer and closer to 5pm, and have that urge to slip out a few mins early so they can get ahead of schedule on ordering the wings and pizza and getting good movie tickets. The consequence of doing this is the person having to choose whether to finish the project on Saturday, Sunday, or if the person really wants to push it, Monday morning. So what option are you going to take? Work Smarter, Not Harder Full time committed religious people know the regular weekend schedule. • 8. The Levels Of Government In The United States The government affects Americans in several ways that many fail to realize. One could not walk down the street without seeing the government s effect on our everyday lives. The questions we may have though are what are the levels of government? What is federalism? How does the government affect individuals every day? Do we need government? Do Americans appreciate the importance of our government? These are all questions that will be answered for we as individuals must understand how this government works before we can make a difference in bettering this country. The spheres (Levels) of government include National, State (Provincial), and Local. It is these three spheres of government that affect our day to day life. The national government provides the states with protection, enough power to maintain foreign policy, and the ability to collect taxes. The state government as stated in the federalist papers State Governments, will have the advantage with regard to the predilection and support of the people. (Hamilton, Jay, Madison 259), for the states have those powers of not expressed to the federal government in the constitution. Local government is the administration of a town, district, or county within a state that provides citizens of that area with representatives to uphold the laws of those living in the area. • 9. The Civil War Era Was A Period Of Major Medical... The Civil War era was a period of major medical advancement. New breakthroughs during this time period had a great effect on the results of the battles and the war as a whole. Advancements in medical procedures, sanitation, infection control, field hospitals and triage, nursing techniques, and the development of the American Red Cross all greatly impacted the mortality rates of soldiers in both the Union and the Confederate armies during the American Civil War in both positive and negative ways. Amputations were the most effective and renowned surgical technique during this time period. Amputations were wildly taboo procedures that caused much controversy at the time. By some they were considered butchery and many questioned the military surgeons qualifications to perform such aberrant procedures. One doctor wrote, The surgery of these battle fields has been pronounced butchery. Gross misrepresentations of the medical officers have been made and scattered broadcast over the country, causing deep and heart rending anxiety to those who had friends or relatives in the army, who might at any moment require the services of a surgeon.... Despite their contentious depictions, amputations proved to be extremely effective. Clement** The Indian economy provides a revealing contrast between how individuals react under a government controlled environment and how they respond to a market based environment. Evidence suggests that recent market reforms that encouraged individual enterprise have led to higher economic growth in that country. India can generate additional economic growth by fostering entrepreneurial activity within its borders. To pursue further the entrepreneurial approach to economic growth, India must now provide opportunities for (1) education directed specifically at entrepreneurial skills, (2) financing of entrepreneurial ... Based on the successful experience of the former Soviet Union, many economists and policymakers concluded that, particularly in a poor country, planning was essential for the efficient allocation of an economy s resources (Panagariya, 1994, p. 194). 1 The history of U.S. business has shown how the pursuit of self interest by individual economic agents has led to benefits for the larger society. Consider the well known example of Henry Ford s introduction of assembly line production. This technological advancement led to a significant increase in productivity at Ford Motor Company. Indeed, despite paying higher wages to his workers, Ford could still produce automobiles at a much lower cost and pass on part of that lower cost to consumers in terms of lower prices. 82 Asia Pacific Development Journal Vol. 12, No. 2, December 2005 The governments in these newly independent nations assumed a significant role in economic development. They sought to quickly and substantially raise the standard of living through directed and controlled economic development. Apart from everything else, these developing countries invested heavily in education to promote literacy and to ensure an adequate supply of technical manpower to meet their growing needs. Moreover, it is not uncommon for this student to represent the community college as an athlete; in keeping with traditional four year colleges and universities, student athletes enjoy the benefit of housing as one prong of their athletic scholarship package, i.e. tuition, room and board. Other attributes include vast numbers of first generation students, students of color, and full time students. Perhaps the rationale behind the lack of on campus housing offered at community colleges, which is in stark contrast to that of four year colleges and universities, is the fact that a large number of community college students live in the community, or the urban community colleges are situated whereby students may make use of mass transit means to get back and forth. • 12. Cesar Chavez Rhetorical Analysis Cesar Chavez, a civil rights leader fighting for improving pay and working conditions of farmers, employs the use of nonviolence resistance in his role as a leader of the United Farm Workers. As a child, Chavez and his family worked as farmers on a field as migrant workers who were most likely treated in an unjust manner and thus, he dedicated his life to improving the conditions for all farmers. To honor Martin Luther King Jr. on the 10th anniversary of his death, Chavez wrote to a religious magazine that helps people in need about the benefits of nonviolent resistance. Throughout his letter, Chavez applies rhetorical devices such as pathos, diction, and juxtaposition to persuade and inform people about how powerful and effective nonviolence techniques can be for civil rights. Multiple times, throughout the text, Chavez uses pathos to appeal emotionally to his audience. Chavez builds a connection and empathy with the readers and persuades them to be people who fight for causes nonviolently. In the sixth paragraph Chaves states that, men and women who are truly concerned about people are non violent by nature. These people become violent when the deep concern they have for people is frustrated and when they are faced with seemingly insurmountable odds. Chavez states that everyone who actually cares about people should be nonviolent, that they shouldn t have to resort to violence because they don t need it. In fact, a considerable number of differences among those countries can be learned if we take a deep look into their various aspects. This is typically true of Japan and South Korea, even though they may show tremendous similarities, their differences are evident. Despite the fact that Korea and Japan both hold outstanding positions in terms of economic growth, the cultural features they possess are remarkably different. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The culinary tradition difference between the two countries can be identified from the level of sophistication. Food from Japan shows exceptional focus on the beauty of serving which is often recognized by the term moritsuke . Japanese specially pay attention to how food is arranged on the plate. Furthermore, they even establish multiple strict rules of food arrangement. For example, the dish should never be fully covered or filled with food; instead, the balance between the empty and the occupied space should be maintained at certain level (Ashkenazi and Jacob, 161). Conversely, Korean meals have no such rules concerning their food and its appearance, making Korean meals much simpler than Japanese meals. A typical Korean meal usually consists of a bowl of rice and vegetable soup. Sometimes, there are a few side dishes served on the table for more flavors such as various kinds of kimchi (Clark, 103). Regarding lifestyle, people from Japan reveal more sophisticated manners and habits than Korean do. Japanese have predilection for sipping tea in the afternoon, which is customarily conducted under their artistic tea culture. In addition, they possess a mysterious way of silence communication known as chinmoku that only Japanese themselves can understand (Davies, Inkeno, 51). On the other hand, ... Katie Majors began to realize that the children who didn t go to school simply couldn t afford the mere USD $20 that it costed. To the undernourished and homeless families on the street, that was a fortune. Majors decided to change that. She started Amazima Ministries, dedicated to providing school funds, hot meals, and the Gospel. Amazima is still growing and prospering today. She began assisting those who were infected with diseases such as AIDS and HIV, as well as helping care for the injured. Agnes, a young girl who fell prey to injury, had been the sole provider of her family at just nine years old. She, and her sisters, Mary and Scovia, were living alone when Majors found them. Their father had died of disease and their mother had fled in fear of being a single parent. It was on a fateful day that their crumbling house collapsed on Agnes. She was rushed to the hospital but was not treated. In Uganda, those who are treated are only those who can pay. She had no money nor an adult to pay, so she simply lay on the bed, waiting for medical care. Majors learned about the girl s situation and rushed to the hospital ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shakespeare s seamless use of indirect characterization sets his works apart from the other playwrights and authors of his time. In Othello, the Shakespearian tragedy about the newlywed Othello and Desdemona, Shakespeare uses character foils to emphasize the strengths and weaknesses of the characters. By making inwardly similar characters seem like polar opposites, Shakespeare truly shows how dynamic each of the characters is. Comparing Voltaire s Candide And Optimism Voltaire s Candide and Optimism Francois Marie Arouet, better known by his pen name Voltaire, is one of the greatest French writers of the eighteenth century, and is the personification of the Enlightenment period. His most celebrated work, Candide (1759), specifically exhibits his Age of Reason ideals. Voltaire broke new ground by using rejection. In Candide Voltaire introduces the oppositional philosophy of optimism , denounces optimism as naïve and a facile perspective, and ultimately describes his enlightened ideals. Firstly, Voltaire illustrates optimism in Candide through the character Dr. Pangloss. Optimism was a popular perspective in the early 18th century. • 36. Archetypal Characters and Symbols in The Phantom of the... Archetypal Characters and Symbols in The Phantom of the Opera The story of The Phantom of the Opera appeals to many types of personalities and people of all ages because of its archetypal characters and patterns. Carl Jung theorized that we are born with innate tendencies to perceive things a certain way: a kind of readiness to reproduce over and over again the same or similar mythical ideas . . . 1. These repeated ideas are archetypes. The basic legend of The Phantom takes place in 19th century Paris, and is that of a young and talented, but untrained singer named Christine. Erik, the Phantom, is a disfigured genius of many fields, including music, architecture, magic, and science. His fatal flaw stems from his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The children s version, meant for 8 to 12 year olds, is the most like the original 1920s Gaston Leroux version. One of the few things that is changed, other than the overall abbreviation of the novel, is simplification of the language. For example, Erik begins describing himself by saying, I was ugly. Worse than ugly 3. This straightforward, childlike language puts the novel at the preteen reading level while preserving Erik s crucial description. The Phantom of the Opera is the most popular book in Random House Publishing s youth Bullseye Chiller series, above other tales of vampires, werewolves, mummies, and witches4. Even children can identify with the love triangle among the three main characters Erik, Christine and Raoul. They probably still pity his unrequited love for Christine, and the way in which he was mistreated. Night Magic, another adaptation, is much lighter reading and aimed at a different audience than the more literary variations. Night Magic is the modern day romance version of Phantom, spanning two decades. Erik becomes a reclusive scarred contractor, and Christine is now Marisa, a spoiled and orphaned teenager with a beautiful voice. The traditional Erik kills without a thought when he feels threatened, while Erik s most raging moment in Night Magic consists of him throwing a stool across the room when a client has been flirtatious with Marisa5. This adaptation is lacking the dangerous side of Erik, so as not to scare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Bullying And Its Effects On America s Schools Today Bullying, often labeled as just a part of growing up, is a major problem in America s schools today. Although it is such a hot topic in our country right now, it is also a long ignored problem that only seems to worsen. The complication with bullying is that no one quite understands it, and it is not taken seriously. The definition of bullying is an overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people. In more simple terms, bullying is not a onetime incident; it is repetitive and happens among individuals when there is an imbalance of power. Statistically, every one in six children are bullied, and this cannot continue to take place. Every child has the right to feel safe and have the pursuit of being happy in which bullying completely takes those rights away. There has been conflict among people since the beginning of time, but when did bullying actually start? In her book, Bullying, Beth Rosenthal states that we are living in a culture that encourages dominance and competition (63). America s culture has allowed bullying to become acceptable which is such a terrible matter. Not only is it an accepted part of our society today, but bullying is embedded in our DNA which is no wonder bullying has escalated so quickly over time. Many adults today claim that bullying was not around when they were attending school, and instead it was just labeled as boys being boys or girls being mean. However, bullying has always been around which draws ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
