Defining The Area Of Intellectual Property Law That...
The term of copyright used to describe the area of intellectual property law that regulates copyrighted
work such as book, songs, films and computer programs. This is governed by Copyright, Designs, and
Patents Act 1998 (CDPA). Sec 1 of CDPA give the creator right to protect over literary, artistic,
musical and dramatic work as well as film, sound recordings and typographical arrangements. This
concept expressed in Art 2 of TRIPS that it protects the expression of an idea. However, when an idea
could only be expressed in one particular way, it won t t be protected because it would monopolise the
idea.

The recent exemptions as of 1 October 2014, intended for personal copies for private use and also
quotation and parody. These changes arose by Gowers Review 2006 and the Hargreaves Review 2011.
The reasoning was to make it fit for purpose in digital age, deliver economic growth, and confer
greater freedom for certain bodies. However, this changes is likely to affect businesses, publisher,
individual and institutions who deal in copyright works.
A landmark case on private use exemption can refer in Basca and others v Secretary of State for
Business Innovation Skills. This case significance to Section 28B of CDPA, any person who
legitimately acquired content (music, film and books) could copy the work for private use and could
storage onto other format without infringing. Here, a number of music industry bodies sought a
judicial review on the basis that Section 28B failed to provide a fair compensation to right holders.
Article 5(2)(b) of InfoSoc Directive permits member states to came up with private copy exception if
the copy for private use caused no more than minimal harm to copyright holders, otherwise
compensation would be payable. In UK, government create an exception which caused zero or
minimal harm to right holders and implemented a narrow concept which is only for purchaser, thus
copying by family, friends or within a social circle is not permitted. The value of copying in the

Tale Of Two Cities Revenge Quotes
Revenge is a human response where one pays back pain or bad actions to the one who caused him the
pain. In history, there are two thoughts on revenge. The Bible states give life for life, eye for eye, tooth
for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot to treat an offender. But years later, Martin Luther King Jr,
claimed, The old law of an eye for an eye leaves everybody blind. In both novels, revenge is present
which is represented by Theresa Defarge in Tale of Two Cities and Molly Farren in Silas Marner . In
Tale of Two Cities revenge is a one of the main themes of the novel. It is shown that the French
revolutionaries are always seeking revenge averse to aristocracy. The symptoms of revenge appear
clearly in Theresa Defarge, who

Animal Ethics Peter Singer
nor does man any moral obligation to consider the interests of these animals. In light of this, one must
question Cohen s moral motivations. If it is scientifically proven that caring for animals in a humane
manner is absolutely vital to the survival of our own kind, what motives must a man who denies the
legitimacy of this necessity have for humanity? It is one thing to make the claim that in certain
circumstances, it is vital that humans use animals as a resource, but Cohen goes even further to
blatantly disregard animal s ability to suffer, and he denies all rights of animals due to their lack of
capacity for free moral judgment (Pojman and Vaughn 817). Cohen also proudly proclaims himself a
speciesist , meaning that he openly values ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Singer notes how all discrimination is unseen at some point until the prejudice is forcefully pointed
out; that each person should be willing to exam their most basic, accepted values and criticize our
most fundamental values (Pojman and Vaughn 802). Taking this approach, Singer continues to
question the morality of killing and using animals as a commodity. Singer considers the ideas
discussed earlier, that this determination does not depend so much on the capabilities of animals, but
rather, their sentience. Singer states that the questions is not can they reason, nor can they talk, but,
can they suffer? This idea captures the vital element that Cohen chooses to overlook. The key
commonality between humans and animals is that we both can experience pain and suffering, and both
would rather avoid it. Cohen not only disregards the environmentally harmful effects of his side of the
argument, but he also considers power to be his prime reasoning for considering animals to be inferior.
He acknowledges animal s sentient ability, but due to their lack of what he deems intelligent capability
and moral choice, he sees this as something simply to be accepted as part of the relationship between
humans and

Narrative Essay On Nfl Season
On the eve of what should be a national holiday, I ponder my predictions on the upcoming NFL
season. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, football is back. Labor Day has come and gone, the summer is
over, the hot sun, beach days and BBQ s, but let s be real the tradeoff is football, you can t have
everything. Fantasy teams are set (most of them), and Vegas has set their odds. Now, it s your turn.
What are your thoughts and predictions on the upcoming season? Below I sound off on mine: QB
Drama: Cowboys: Shortly after Dak Prescott shocked Cowboy fans with his preseason performance
against the new look Los Angeles Rams, I gave my prediction that by week 4 Tony Romo would go

face it, Romo is done. He has been for some time now. In 2015, with impressive plays thrown in the

Dog Park Pros And Cons
DOG PARK
The debate amoung the people is, should there be a dog park in the community of New York? Some
believe this is a bad idea . Others believe this is a great idea. Having a dog park is a great idea for the
locals. It gives a place for the owners to bring there dogs. Some believe, dog owners shouldnt pressure
the city to provide the community with a dog park, because its your problem not having the space and
the place to walk your dog. But on the other hand, having a dog park is great for the dogs. Its
physically and mentally good for the dogs according to the ASPCA. Having a dog park will make the

Analysis Of The Song Cortez The Killer
When using the song Cortez the Killer as a source on the European Conquistadors, a historian should
consider what type of source it is, its creation date, the author s origins, and how the Conquistadors are
portrayed. A historian should consider these things because they might have an effect on the
credibility of the source and the type of information they can give, which refers to things such as
perspective. Firstly, the song Cortez the Killer is a secondary source written by Neil Young in 1975. A
book by Neil s brother, Scott Young, informs us that Neil had no connection to the Aztecs or Spanish.
The song is a secondary source because it was written in 1975, well after the encounter between
Montezuma and Cortez. This would tell a historian

Born February 12, 1809, Charles Robert Darwin Was An English
Born February 12, 1809, Charles Robert Darwin was an English naturalist and geologist. Best known
for his bold scientific approach in explaining transmutation or evolution, as it is recently termed, of
natural selection. Formulating his theory secretly from 1837 39, after returning aboard the HMS
Beagle from a voyage around the world. Charles Darwin published his evolution theory, in his book
entitled On the Origin of Species two decades after his return in 1959. Darwin s Evolutionary Theory

successive generations, as a result of natural selection acting on the genetic variation among

Others believe in Darwin s theory of natural selection, where it all started about five millions year ago.
It is said that there were once apes, different to the known species of the 20th century that advanced
genetically as time progressed. Beliefs are held that these apes or Hominines evolved becoming
bipedal causing them to walk up right, and their babies to be twisted and turned to pass through the
birth canal. Overtime their cognitive abilities allowed them to generate new ideas to build new tools
that also increased survival and reproduction. Darwin believed that humans, apes and chimpanzees all
share a common ancestry. The recent sequencing of the gorilla, chimpanzee and bonobo genomes
confirms that supposition and provides a clearer view of how we are connected: chimps and bonobos
in particular take pride of place as our nearest living relatives, sharing approximately 99 percent of our
DNA, with gorillas trailing at 98 percent (Wong, 2014). Fossil records today strengthen Darwin s
theory as results concluded that the phylogenic of species and ontogeny of humans evolved from an
organism known as the great ape or Hominid a large tailless primitive that lived 7 million years ago.
Darwin s theory of evolution contains some basic biological principles as it relates to natural selection
and contributes to survival, these includes:

Protestant Old Testament Essay
In the Catholic faith, the Protestant belief of sola scriptura or scripture alone is to be used along with
the Magisterial authority of those in the church such as the Pope and Bishops, which is a long standing
belief from the church s founding in 33 AD. The Protestant Bible and The Catholic Bible both use the
same New Testament, which was defined by Athanasius in 367, but use a different Old Testament. The
Protestant Old Testament is different than the Catholic Old Testament because of the history of the
founding of the Protestant faith. The Protestant Old testament comes from the Hebrew Bible which
was decided to have 24 books, with this canon being accepted at the Councils of Jamnia in 90 118 AD.

Non verbal behaviors are unintentional and can be interpreted by a different personwith a different
meaning. Verbal signals usually accompany by non verbal behaviors. These could be as easy as a
shoulder shrug to head movements to eye contact. These behaviors tend to either confirm or even
emphasize the meaning when speaking, Certain unintentional behaviors can even contradict what the

For instance I automatically stand if I am sitting to give a handshake as I find it rude to give one
sitting down. Most people are unaware of that and dont find anything wrong with just sitting and

grasp on that culture. In mexico people are greeted with a hug and kiss on the cheek. People in Asia
can be offended in this manner due to invasion of personal space. One experience I will never forget
in one of my tours to Iraq i remember that a young woman needed medical attention but they did not
say anything to use until they had a man appeared that they knew and he came to speak to us to see if

Some cultures it is extremely offensive for men to speak to women without the head of the house

Eye Contact: Eye contact is an extremely sensitive subject. Here in america we use eye contact for

Abraham Lincoln s Second Debate
In the effort to secure their own appointments to the U.S. Senate, Abraham Lincoln and Stephen
Douglas squared off in a series of seven debates in 1858. In the 1850s, America was facing a political
crisis, and slavery was threatening to tear the nation apart. There were seven debates that took place
between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. The two candidates for Senate challenged the other s
ideas about many topics but the most import was, slavery and its future in the United States. Before
the first debate took place, Abraham Lincoln addressed a crowd in Chicago, which is known famously
as the House Divided Speech. In his speech, Lincoln attacked the doctrine of popular sovereignty. He

From August 21 until October 15, Stephen Douglas battled Abraham Lincoln in face to face debates
all around the state. The prize they sought to win was a seat in the Senate. The debates were to be held
at 7 locations throughout Illinois. During the debates, Douglas still advocated popular sovereignty,
which meant to maintain the right of the citizens of a territory to permit or prohibit slavery. It was, a
sacred right of self government, or so he said. Lincoln proceeded to point out that Douglas s position
directly challenged the Dred Scott decision. This in which decreed that the citizens of a territory had
no such power. In what became known as the Freeport Doctrine. Douglas replied that whatever the
Supreme Court decided was not as important as the actions of the citizens. If a territory refused to
have slavery, no laws, no Supreme Court ruling, would force them to permit it. Over and over again,
Lincoln made that point that a house divided could not stand. Douglas refuted this by saying that the
founders, left each state perfectly free to do as it pleased on the subject. Lincoln felt that blacks were
entitled to the rights enumerated in the Declaration of Independence, which include life, liberty, and
the pursuit of happiness. Douglas argued that the founders

Social Change In Japan Essay
The Japanese culture has allowed for very little diversity. This started very early in their history. The
social controls used to eliminate diversity are the family, the power of gender, the poor treatment of
minority groups, the corporate Japanese mentality, and the respect required by people in authority.
However, due to globalization and the shrinking of the world, Japanese society is starting to make the
change to diversity. The individualistic mentality shared by the new technology driven younger
generation is putting pressure on the old Japanese status quo. The transformation is happening very

Equal rights were not granted to women until the Occupation Era following World War II. The
modifications that were made to the existing Meiji Constitution gave women the same rights as men
for the first time in the country s history. Prior to that they were seen as servants, dominated by their
husbands, in what can only be described as a master / slave relationship. The new Japanese
Constitution of 1947 empowered the Japanese women for the first time in the countries history.
Minorities were persecute throughout Japan s past. Native Anglo s were hunted down and slaughtered.
The surviving numbers were driven north onto the smaller surrounding islands. The closed era of
Tokogawa Shogunate tried to remove all of the diversity within society. Any thought other than the
Shinto/Buddhist/Confucianism that dominated was society was expelled. The violent massacre of
Christians during this period only supported conformity to the ideals of the ruling class. The stance
they took on foreign thought and technology insured that no outside influences would affect Japanese
culture. This view lasted over 200 years until the country was opened to foreigners again. The long
period the Japanese spent with no diversity combined with the loyalty and honor themes of Bushido,
made it impossible for them to accept diversity after the country was opened again.
The xenophobic sentiment of the Tokogawa Era only added to the strict view that Japanese had of
individuality. The feeling was solidified

Explain The Three Strikes Law For Juveniles
The Three Strikes Law For juveniles
The three strikes law are meant to raise the prison sentences for offenders being incarcerated for a
serious felony such as a violent crime and who have previously committed two other felonies that
were serious or very violent crimes. The three strikes law places a life sentences on those types of
criminals. The reason for this law to be created was to deter crime and keep offenders from
reoffending, also the courts and the community felt that the law needed to get tougher on crime. The
punishment of course must be proportionate to the crimes, some of the crimes for example were

They have committed drug and alcohol crimes such as drunk and disorderly, drug abuse, sexual
offenses, such as prostitution and rape. There are instances where juveniles are tried as adults
depending on the offense, the severity of the crime and age. Juveniles have been sentenced to a life
sentences and have also stood on death row. I think that if a juvenile at the age of 15 or 16 commits a
crime violent or not and knowingly knows that it is wrong should suffer the consequences of his
actions. I think if the court can prove intent, mental stability, has evidence and can show the juvenile
understood his actions he should be liable. I agree that a juvenile can and should be given the three
strike law, but only under the conditions that the law states, one his/her age should be a factor, their
history, the past crimes and if any were in fact felony violent crimes and how severe they were.
According to an article juvenile offense can count towards the three strike law under California penal
code 667(d)(3)(a). For it to qualify the offender had to of been 16 when the crime was committed, if
the prior offenses was considered serious or violent, determined to be ward of the court and fit to be
dealt with under juvenile court. So, if the court could use your juvenile offenses against you then why
shouldn t the three strike laws apply to juveniles if it s a serious felony. Yes, juveniles can be more apt
to change, but there are those who do not change and continue to commit crime, Juvenile crime has
continued to rise, and you see more of them becoming violent. The slap on the wrist, boot camp, and
probation just isn t working. Juveniles are becoming very disrespectful towards authority and the law.
You see many reoffending and going back into the system

Service and Asset Privatization Essay example
The rapid interest in privatization stroked when all the levels of government economies were
persistently challenging in running their operations during last two to three decades of twentieth
century (Shirley, 1992). Since then, privatization of public sectors has been a key factor of structural
reform programs in both developed and developing countries (Sheshinski Lopez Calva, 2003). The
process of transferring ownership of public services from the public sector (the part which is
controlled by government) to private sectors (the part which is owned and controlled by private party)
is called privatization (Investopia, 2013). According to Sarah E. Gollust and Peter D. Jacobson,

Primarily, privatization is to achieve higher allocation and productive efficiency and to strengthen the
role of private sector in the economy (Sheshinski Lopez Calva, 2003). They describe that these two
objectives are the main reasons behind government contracting its sectors to private parties and are
associated with microeconomic efficiency. Secondarily, it is to improve the public sector s financial
health and to free resources for allocation in other important areas of government activity usually
related to social policy (Sheshinski Lopez Calva, 2003). For the next ones, they explain that these
reduce the level of borrowing and reallocate the possible expenditure towards social policy areas, and
these are connected to public sector finance.
Literature Review: In this research, I have conducted studies on three important aspect of public sector
where privatization has taken place and from which I could draw a conclusive end. The first among
them is the privatization of state prison. The first privatization of prison in United States was done in
1986 and soon after, the numbers continue to increase rapidly (Burkhardt, 2009). From theory driven
historical analysis, he finds out that the rising population, interventionist federal courts, and the link
between the private contractors and members of state governments are the causing factors of state
prison privatization. In

Political Influences Of Alexander Pope
One of the most influential poets of the 17th and 18th centuries, Alexander Pope significantly
influenced classical poetry through his didactic and satirical works. Born in 1688, Pope began his life
already facing many challenges through different facets of his life. Because his family were practicing
Catholics, the Pope s were forced to move onto the outskirts of town, and Alexander wasn t able to
attend school any longer, which challenged him to teach himself. Rising to the challenge, Pope taught
himself different languages, and wrote his first poem, Ode on Solitude, at the age of twelve (Masters
in English). With his satiric style, Alexander Pope was able to write about his own experiences with
Pott s disease, as well as his well known translations of plays such as Illiad and The Odyssey where he
included some of his own ideas in their writing (notable biographies). Alexander Pope shaped the
writings of his time through the use of satire, drawing on his own life and the situations around him
for inspiration and support.
In 18th century England, poetry was mainly political and satirical. The main philosophical question
was whether the individual or society took precedence as the subject of verse. (slideshare). This time
period was led by Alexander Pope because of his early start into writing and his continued works
throughout his life. Pope and most poets/authors of the time wrote with reason over feelings and were
typically written in rhymes and heroic couplets.

Malcolm X s Philosophy Of Black Pride, Black Nationalism,...
The Autobiography of Malcolm X informs the reader about Malcolm X s philosophy of black pride,
black nationalism, and pan Africanism. There are a billion reasons to care when it comes to a book
about a human rights activist. I want to take a look at something more personal. There is always time
for change. Who would have thought that a little kid from the country who bounced around between
foster homes, detention centers, and jails would have done anything with his life? I might have
guessed that Malcolm X lived a life of crime until he died in a gunfight based on his history. That did
not happen. He changed. I can probably think of a million things that I want to change in my life.
Some of them probably seem impossible. That is okay. This book teaches me that there is time for me
to change my life as long as I am not dead. This little kid from Nebraska could do it and so can I.
Malcolm X only got six short years before his family was torn apart by the death of his father and the
nervous breakdown of his mother in the beginning. He and his siblings became wards of the state. He
started to dream of living in Boston when he met his half sister Ella. Malcolm went through all kinds
of transformations in the next stage of his life. He started out as a wide eyed country bumpkin, turned
into a big time dancer, became a drug dealer, and landed in jail. In 1948 Malcolm s brother Philbert

Cosmetic Surgery Essay
Everywhere you go you see perfect people. You read a magazine and on every page you see those
beautiful women. You walk through the city and you see 60 year old people without any wrinkles.
Moreover, the people on the television are perfect too. The people you see are not real anymore. This
is a big problem for society, the idealized picture changes every minute and the pressure to meet this
picture increases drastically.
Are all these people born so perfect? Or did they cheat with cosmetic surgery? Of course there are
people who are so lucky they are born flawless. But the majority of the perfect population is not

Cosmetic surgery is, for a lot of women, an aid to increase their self esteem. They see cosmetic
surgery as the ultimate way to improve their self image. Cosmetic surgery is also used to enhance the
chance on a job. Because so many women undergo cosmetic surgery, the employment raises. We need
more surgeons and nurses to be able to meet the demand. And of course the right to do what you want
with your body is a reason to go to the cosmetic surgeon. But cosmetic surgery also knows a dark side.
An operation is never without any risks. Cosmetic surgery can cause serious damage to your body.
Besides, you lose your own identity after using cosmetic surgery. Your own identifying mark is being
removed and replaced by a more common identifying mark. Also the costs of cosmetic surgery are
very high. For most people it is too expensive, so they negotiate a loan. The high costs make cosmetic
surgery a mean for rich people to improve their appearance. And of course we need to wonder if
cosmetic surgery is a good way to make you happy. It is much better to love yourself for who you are,
because only then also other people can love you for who you are. After all for everyone exists the
perfect match. So stay who you are, do what you want and say what you feel, because those who

he told the boy, Your brain Peekay, has two functions; it is a place for original thought, but also a
reference library. (157) The power of one is defined by being able to think for oneself and being
independent, and Doc drums both characteristics into Peekay. The quote encompasses a good majority
of what Doc taught Peekay, to analyze, and think outside the box. He taught Peekay to challenge the
norm, for the sake of challenging the norm. Doc was also a fatherly figure that encouraged Peekay to
grow and stop holding back: To be smart is not a sin. To be smart and not use it, that is a sin, Peekay.
(162). In the Beginning of the book, Peekay talked about his camouflage, something that the used to
protect himself against the Judge. His decision to be painfully average conflicts with his dream to be
the next welterweight champion of the world, and that is something that holds him back from
achieving the power of one. He holds himself back in school, something that Doc does not approve of.
After this quote, Peekay starts to succeed, and starts to stand out in a good

Essay On African Americans In The 20th Century
The 20th Century presented its own problems and temporary solutions for Blacks. Those years
impacted all Blacks, male and female, northerner and southerner, soldier and civilian. Migration,
military service, racial violence, and political protest combined to make the 20th century one of the
most dynamic periods of the Black experience. Black people contested the boundaries of American
democracy, demanded their rights as American citizens, and asserted their very humanity in ways both
subtle and dramatic. Let s walk through this century together as we take it one episode at a time.
World War I (1914 1918)
While the Great War raged in Europe for three long years, America stead a neutral country. It was not
until April of 1917, that President Wilson asked Congress to declare war on Germany. Americans
swung into action to raise, equip, and ship the American Expeditionary Force to the trenches of
Europe. America reasons for entering the were both political and economical;

Igbo Culture And Traditional Medicine
Medicine and health are essential in everyday living, but plunging into African medicine helps
discover the reasons for cultural ritual practices, society, and religion, resulting in a host of
information that provides a deep insight into African culture. According to many, African traditional
medicine represents the sum of the people s medicinal knowledge as well as beliefs, skills, and
practices used in diagnosing, preventing, or eliminating a physical, mental, or social disequilibrium
(Selin 679). This is especially true of the Igbo tribe in modern day southeast Nigeria. The novel
Things Fall Apart briefly explores the world of traditional medicine, describing the journey that young
and ill patients must travel to detach oneself from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As accounted by many, Traditional healers often act, in part, as an intermediary between the visible
and invisible worlds; between the living and the dead or ancestors, sometimes to determine which
spirits are at work and how to bring the sick person back into harmony with their ancestors (Abdullahi
¶ 3). This provides the emotional and spiritual depth of traditional medical practitioners, as they truly
make an effort to connect patients to their community even if they are severely ill (Abdullahi ¶ 3).
Finally, the Igbo tribe held many secret societies, including instruction in medicine, that held both
secular and religious functions and allowed inducted community members to learn about its origins (
Cults and Rituals 284). This further establishes their connection of religion to medicine, as secret
societies may teach medicine to members in a religious setting. Therefore, when Igbo medical
practitioners practiced medicine before colonization, they incorporated many aspects of their religion,
including, but not limited to, sorcery and divination, as they have for many years.
Two main groups of people were allowed to practice medicine used in Igbo culture. There were
authorities, known as medicine men, who were known to practice sorcery among their patients; only
those who had a knowledge of medicine and pharmacology could practice sorcery ( Cults and Rituals
286). In addition, the Dibia, referred to as

Catechol Oxidase Lab Report
Methods Effect of pH on Enzyme Activity and Benzoquinone Absorption During this experiment, the

different pH concentration. Five cuvettes provided by the instructor were used during the experiment.
The transmittance on the spectrophotometer was zeroed on an empty chamber and it was set at a

each pH has different chemicals, so five cuvettes containing 0.5 mL of enzyme solution and 4.5 mL of
pH 2, pH 6, pH 7, pH 8, pH 11 were used to make five different blank solutions (Scott, S.M. et al

What Is Data Visualization
1. Introduction The Electronic Health Records (EHR) has become pervasive. As a result, medical and
health professionals have to grapple with an abundance of digital data. There can be no doubt that we
need to systematically collect, organize, consolidate and present data to users such as healthcare
professionals, primarily in order to decrease cognitive load and improve efficiency in diagnosing and
treating patients. The visual representation of information can go a long way in alleviating information
overload and also in improving decision making within the clinical environment. However, factors
such as perception of visualization tools by healthcare professionals may impede their effective
implementation and reduce usefulness of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The paper focuses on challenges in data visualization in EHR and recommends possible remedies
using human centered design. 2. Visualization In general, the term Visualization is defined as the
development of a visual image in the human mind. However that is more than simply a graphical
representation of data or concepts, as visualization can work as a cognitive tool, and becomes a
powerful strategy in the construction of knowledge using human percipient and cognitive capacities.
This definition is based on the work of Stuart Card (Card 1999); he defines Visualization as being the
use of visual representations of abstract data, supported by computers and in order to extend the
cognition, in an interactive mode (Dulclerci Joao, 2010). Visualization can further assist humans with
their data analysis through visual representation of the information. This assistance is defined as
cognitive support. Ware defines visualization as a graphical representation of data and concepts ,
which is either an internal construct of the mind or an external artifact support decision making (Troy
Moller, 2004). Visualization is not only useful for data observation. It essentially contributes in a far
significant manner to the process of data analysis. When the input data is organized

Both Sides Now was a song written by Joni Mitchell but first recorded by Judy Collins, a folk singer,
in the Album WildfFlowers, in 1967. The version created by Judy Collins was a top ten hit on the U.S.
singles chart during the fall of 1968. A year later, Joni Mitchell produced the album Clouds in which
Both sides, now was included. Again, Mitchell re recorded the song in a lush, orchestrated fashion for
her 2000 album Both Sides. Notably, the Judy Collins version of the song reached number 8 on the
U.S. pop singles charts by December and number 6 in Canada. Both Sides Now also won a Grammy

spiraling verse. She sings but now it s just another show/ You leave em laughin when you go (17 18)
to point out that the world can take your happiness away and even seem to be your harshest critic. The
rest of the song continues to convey the same message but uses more personal and realistic tales that
continue to rhyme; for example, the 2nd verse illustrates a warm summer night at a fair in the 1960s
while the 1st verse used an abstract approach by mentioning clouds blocking the light. Similarly, the
3rd verse is more relatable than the 2nd verse and shows a more personal touch in which the
songwriter mentions that she used to express her emotions freely, but was critiqued by others. The
song ends with the

Corrie Kelly Due: 4/18/12 The Walt Disney Company has been an industry leader in the majority of
its business segments for many years now; a success which is due largely to its unique history,
heritage and corporate culture. Consumers and businesses alike around the world refer to the Disney
Standard of doing things, demonstrating the high level of regard in which they hold us and the overall
effectiveness of TWDC s business plan. Through the hundreds of positions within TWDC, the main

Though some corporate belt tightening is obvious through the segments in response to the economic
recession, the company still focuses on maintaining a positive and supportive environment for its cast.
As with any company, the interests of an employee can determine which aspects of the organization
appeal to them most strongly. In other words, an employee s experience is what they make it. This is
especially true with TWDC in that there are so many areas for cast members to take the initiative to
better themselves, as well as their community and environment. While some employees prefer to focus
on their work, others can choose to take advantage of additional training and other extracurricular
activities. Compared to the other employers that I ve worked for, TWDC definitely stands out. While
it s true that TWDC has far more to work with in the way of resources, the effort is still being made to
appeal to each cast member, while the other companies for whom I ve worked have focused
exclusively on the bottom line. Because I m a continuing education student with experience in a
professional career, participating in the College Program hasn t been as much of an eye opener for me
as it has for some of the younger students. That being said, I ve

Uber Profile Research Paper
Bravo! You ve somehow passed your background check and talked your way through the big
interview. Now you re an official Uber driver! From this day forward your pay depends on the amount
of fares you get. To maximize your passengers, you need a perfect five star rating on your Uber
profile. Here is a list of ten tips to gain that perfect score: 1. There s no need for a GPS: The guessing
game is a fun way to test your knowledge of the town. Choosing which way to turn will entertain you
and your passengers during the ride. Besides, longer rides give you more time to really get to know
who s in your car. 2. Lanes are just suggestions: Those solid yellow lines down the center of the street
don t mean anything! Drive on either side you prefer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Show off your driving skills...Drive with your knees: You need to impress your passengers; knee
driving will certainly woo them. It will also allow your hands to get involved in the conversation.
Hand gestures pull your passengers in and can never be too excessive, especially while driving down
interstate. You ll build an intimate relationship with each person you drive around. 8. Play bumper
cars: Who doesn t love a good round of bumper cars? Smashing into nearby vehicles adds a dangerous
element to the experience, which will be fun. Other cars will realize your game and join in! Trust me.
Nobody will get hurt. Sometimes police cars play, but they get too into it...Hold your ground, as they
might try to push you completely off the road. 9. Drop passengers off a couple blocks away from their
destinations: They can walk the rest of the way. America is becoming too lazy nowadays, and you will
help people exercise again. If they refuse to leave the car, push them out. They ll thank you eventually.
10. Choose your own rates: The price is calculated by the app, but you should still ask for more
money. Your passengers will completely understand because if you have followed these steps, you are
the best Uber driver out there. They ll know you deserve a much higher pay than the average

Life Lessons Along A Christian s Journey
Life Lessons along a Christian s Journey
The Bible has stories and lessons that communicates to each of us in different areas of life. The Bible
is the guide to everyone s salvation. Understanding God s voice is understanding the existence of all
the living. It is up to each person to choose a godhead life or not. The responsibility in a godhead life
does not come easy. The understanding, connecting and unity in a godhead life comes with many tests
and trials along the journey, but faith is all it takes.
Understanding
Christians understand that the Bible is from God. There is so much to take in, but we have a lifetime

The entire bible is one book, has one author, the Holy Spirit, and has one purpose, to show the fall of
man and God s way to redeem him. No one cannot understand the New Testament without
understanding the Old Testament first.
Connecting
The Old Testament and the New Testament are one book; one balances the other. In the Old Testament
life started when God decided to make Adam, Let us make human beings in our image, (Genesis 1:24
NIV) . God revealed himself to humans. This is where God connected on a personal level with each of
us and we learned how to speak to God. This is also the time when the Fall of Man was redeemed. We
all may agree that again and again we fall down , but God is right there. We just have to believe and
pray for God s guidance. God shows grace, forgiveness and love. God sent his son, Lord Jesus Christ
to show us physically and visibly what God is like. God again revealed himself to the world, by his
unconditional love. God is constant in his words. Throughout the Bible starting in the Old Testament
that God s son is coming and tells how he is coming. In the New Testament, Christ is sent to save all
our sins and uphold the universe. It is important to understand this from the beginning, because
whatever is true of God the Father is true of Jesus Christ the Son and is true of the Holy Spirit. God is
three persons, but one God. God is REAL.
Role
To understand God is to understand that, The Father is God: Jesus Christ is God; the Holy Spirit is

Denmark (1994) highlighted that deaf people within the general population were more likely to be

Hearing loss is an invisible disability that affects people of any age group, from neonates to older
adults.
People with learning disabilities will already have communication limitations, compromising their
education, social functioning and safety. This may be compounded if there is a concurrent hearing
loss.
Reported prevalence of hearing impairment varies from 12.3% to 47% . Some causes of audiological
impairment may be easily corrected, such as impacted ear wax, which occurs commonly in this
population. However, a person with limited or no verbal communication skills may have difficulty in
conveying deterioration in hearing. In addition, difficulties may be attributed incorrectly to an
underlying behavioural problem. It is known that hearing impairment is frequently unrecognised and
under reported by paid carers.Hearing impairment increases with age, severity of hearing disability
and the presence of Down s syndrome.
Early detection and intervention should be beneficial. It is possible to assess hearing in persons with
profound learning disabilities who may have additional complexities, for example those with
challenging behaviours and/or Autistic

The term of copyright used to describe the area of intellectual property law that regulates copyrighted work such as book, songs, films and computer programs. This is governed by Copyright, Designs, and Patents Act 1998 (CDPA). Sec 1 of CDPA give the creator right to protect over literary, artistic, musical and dramatic work as well as film, sound recordings and typographical arrangements. This concept expressed in Art 2 of TRIPS that it protects the expression of an idea. However, when an idea could only be expressed in one particular way, it won t t be protected because it would monopolise the idea. As to general rule, infringement requires substantial part of work to be copied that refers to quality, not quantity. It should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The recent exemptions as of 1 October 2014, intended for personal copies for private use and also quotation and parody. These changes arose by Gowers Review 2006 and the Hargreaves Review 2011. The reasoning was to make it fit for purpose in digital age, deliver economic growth, and confer greater freedom for certain bodies. However, this changes is likely to affect businesses, publisher, individual and institutions who deal in copyright works. A landmark case on private use exemption can refer in Basca and others v Secretary of State for Business Innovation Skills. This case significance to Section 28B of CDPA, any person who legitimately acquired content (music, film and books) could copy the work for private use and could storage onto other format without infringing. Here, a number of music industry bodies sought a judicial review on the basis that Section 28B failed to provide a fair compensation to right holders. Article 5(2)(b) of InfoSoc Directive permits member states to came up with private copy exception if the copy for private use caused no more than minimal harm to copyright holders, otherwise compensation would be payable. In UK, government create an exception which caused zero or minimal harm to right holders and implemented a narrow concept which is only for purchaser, thus copying by family, friends or within a social circle is not permitted. • 4. Tale Of Two Cities Revenge Quotes Revenge is a human response where one pays back pain or bad actions to the one who caused him the pain. In history, there are two thoughts on revenge. The Bible states give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot to treat an offender. But years later, Martin Luther King Jr, claimed, The old law of an eye for an eye leaves everybody blind. In both novels, revenge is present which is represented by Theresa Defarge in Tale of Two Cities and Molly Farren in Silas Marner . In Tale of Two Cities revenge is a one of the main themes of the novel. It is shown that the French revolutionaries are always seeking revenge averse to aristocracy. • 5. Animal Ethics Peter Singer nor does man any moral obligation to consider the interests of these animals. In light of this, one must question Cohen s moral motivations. If it is scientifically proven that caring for animals in a humane manner is absolutely vital to the survival of our own kind, what motives must a man who denies the legitimacy of this necessity have for humanity? It is one thing to make the claim that in certain circumstances, it is vital that humans use animals as a resource, but Cohen goes even further to blatantly disregard animal s ability to suffer, and he denies all rights of animals due to their lack of capacity for free moral judgment (Pojman and Vaughn 817). Cohen also proudly proclaims himself a speciesist , meaning that he openly values ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Singer notes how all discrimination is unseen at some point until the prejudice is forcefully pointed out; that each person should be willing to exam their most basic, accepted values and criticize our most fundamental values (Pojman and Vaughn 802). Taking this approach, Singer continues to question the morality of killing and using animals as a commodity. Singer considers the ideas discussed earlier, that this determination does not depend so much on the capabilities of animals, but rather, their sentience. Singer states that the questions is not can they reason, nor can they talk, but, can they suffer? This idea captures the vital element that Cohen chooses to overlook. The key commonality between humans and animals is that we both can experience pain and suffering, and both would rather avoid it. Cohen not only disregards the environmentally harmful effects of his side of the argument, but he also considers power to be his prime reasoning for considering animals to be inferior. He acknowledges animal s sentient ability, but due to their lack of what he deems intelligent capability and moral choice, he sees this as something simply to be accepted as part of the relationship between humans and ... Labor Day has come and gone, the summer is over, the hot sun, beach days and BBQ s, but let s be real the tradeoff is football, you can t have everything. Fantasy teams are set (most of them), and Vegas has set their odds. Now, it s your turn. What are your thoughts and predictions on the upcoming season? Below I sound off on mine: QB Drama: Cowboys: Shortly after Dak Prescott shocked Cowboy fans with his preseason performance against the new look Los Angeles Rams, I gave my prediction that by week 4 Tony Romo would go down with an injury and Prescott would be named the starter. I was a little off in my prediction. The season didn t even have to start for Romo to go down like a ton of bricks. Enter: Dak Prescott. Let s face it, Romo is done. He has been for some time now. In 2015, with impressive plays thrown in the mix, Romo threw an ample amount of interceptions and spent more than half the season out with a shoulder injury. Analysis Of The Song Cortez The Killer When using the song Cortez the Killer as a source on the European Conquistadors, a historian should consider what type of source it is, its creation date, the author s origins, and how the Conquistadors are portrayed. A historian should consider these things because they might have an effect on the credibility of the source and the type of information they can give, which refers to things such as perspective. Firstly, the song Cortez the Killer is a secondary source written by Neil Young in 1975. A book by Neil s brother, Scott Young, informs us that Neil had no connection to the Aztecs or Spanish. • 10. Born February 12, 1809, Charles Robert Darwin Was An English Born February 12, 1809, Charles Robert Darwin was an English naturalist and geologist. Best known for his bold scientific approach in explaining transmutation or evolution, as it is recently termed, of natural selection. Formulating his theory secretly from 1837 39, after returning aboard the HMS Beagle from a voyage around the world. Charles Darwin published his evolution theory, in his book entitled On the Origin of Species two decades after his return in 1959. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others believe in Darwin s theory of natural selection, where it all started about five millions year ago. It is said that there were once apes, different to the known species of the 20th century that advanced genetically as time progressed. Beliefs are held that these apes or Hominines evolved becoming bipedal causing them to walk up right, and their babies to be twisted and turned to pass through the birth canal. Overtime their cognitive abilities allowed them to generate new ideas to build new tools that also increased survival and reproduction. Darwin believed that humans, apes and chimpanzees all share a common ancestry. The recent sequencing of the gorilla, chimpanzee and bonobo genomes confirms that supposition and provides a clearer view of how we are connected: chimps and bonobos in particular take pride of place as our nearest living relatives, sharing approximately 99 percent of our DNA, with gorillas trailing at 98 percent (Wong, 2014). Fossil records today strengthen Darwin s theory as results concluded that the phylogenic of species and ontogeny of humans evolved from an organism known as the great ape or Hominid a large tailless primitive that lived 7 million years ago. Darwin s theory of evolution contains some basic biological principles as it relates to natural selection and contributes to survival, these includes: 1. Variation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Protestant Old Testament Essay In the Catholic faith, the Protestant belief of sola scriptura or scripture alone is to be used along with the Magisterial authority of those in the church such as the Pope and Bishops, which is a long standing belief from the church s founding in 33 AD. The Protestant Bible and The Catholic Bible both use the same New Testament, which was defined by Athanasius in 367, but use a different Old Testament. The Protestant Old Testament is different than the Catholic Old Testament because of the history of the founding of the Protestant faith. The Protestant Old testament comes from the Hebrew Bible which was decided to have 24 books, with this canon being accepted at the Councils of Jamnia in 90 118 AD. People in Asia can be offended in this manner due to invasion of personal space. One experience I will never forget in one of my tours to Iraq i remember that a young woman needed medical attention but they did not say anything to use until they had a man appeared that they knew and he came to speak to us to see if we could help. We said no problem but he needed a female medic to take a look over the young lady. Some cultures it is extremely offensive for men to speak to women without the head of the house holds permission. In the 1850s, America was facing a political crisis, and slavery was threatening to tear the nation apart. There were seven debates that took place between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. The two candidates for Senate challenged the other s ideas about many topics but the most import was, slavery and its future in the United States. From August 21 until October 15, Stephen Douglas battled Abraham Lincoln in face to face debates all around the state. The prize they sought to win was a seat in the Senate. The debates were to be held at 7 locations throughout Illinois. During the debates, Douglas still advocated popular sovereignty, which meant to maintain the right of the citizens of a territory to permit or prohibit slavery. It was, a sacred right of self government, or so he said. Lincoln proceeded to point out that Douglas s position directly challenged the Dred Scott decision. This in which decreed that the citizens of a territory had no such power. In what became known as the Freeport Doctrine. Douglas replied that whatever the Supreme Court decided was not as important as the actions of the citizens. If a territory refused to have slavery, no laws, no Supreme Court ruling, would force them to permit it. Over and over again, Lincoln made that point that a house divided could not stand. Douglas refuted this by saying that the founders, left each state perfectly free to do as it pleased on the subject. The modifications that were made to the existing Meiji Constitution gave women the same rights as men for the first time in the country s history. Prior to that they were seen as servants, dominated by their husbands, in what can only be described as a master / slave relationship. The new Japanese Constitution of 1947 empowered the Japanese women for the first time in the countries history. Minorities were persecute throughout Japan s past. Native Anglo s were hunted down and slaughtered. The surviving numbers were driven north onto the smaller surrounding islands. The closed era of Tokogawa Shogunate tried to remove all of the diversity within society. Any thought other than the Shinto/Buddhist/Confucianism that dominated was society was expelled. The violent massacre of Christians during this period only supported conformity to the ideals of the ruling class. The stance they took on foreign thought and technology insured that no outside influences would affect Japanese culture. This view lasted over 200 years until the country was opened to foreigners again. The long period the Japanese spent with no diversity combined with the loyalty and honor themes of Bushido, made it impossible for them to accept diversity after the country was opened again. • 16. Explain The Three Strikes Law For Juveniles The Three Strikes Law For juveniles The three strikes law are meant to raise the prison sentences for offenders being incarcerated for a serious felony such as a violent crime and who have previously committed two other felonies that were serious or very violent crimes. The three strikes law places a life sentences on those types of criminals. The reason for this law to be created was to deter crime and keep offenders from reoffending, also the courts and the community felt that the law needed to get tougher on crime. The punishment of course must be proportionate to the crimes, some of the crimes for example were Murder, Arson, Rape with force, violence or threat or great bodily harm, lewd or lascivious acts, Kidnapping, Assault, Attempted ... There are instances where juveniles are tried as adults depending on the offense, the severity of the crime and age. Juveniles have been sentenced to a life sentences and have also stood on death row. I think that if a juvenile at the age of 15 or 16 commits a crime violent or not and knowingly knows that it is wrong should suffer the consequences of his actions. I think if the court can prove intent, mental stability, has evidence and can show the juvenile understood his actions he should be liable. I agree that a juvenile can and should be given the three strike law, but only under the conditions that the law states, one his/her age should be a factor, their history, the past crimes and if any were in fact felony violent crimes and how severe they were. According to an article juvenile offense can count towards the three strike law under California penal code 667(d)(3)(a). For it to qualify the offender had to of been 16 when the crime was committed, if the prior offenses was considered serious or violent, determined to be ward of the court and fit to be dealt with under juvenile court. So, if the court could use your juvenile offenses against you then why shouldn t the three strike laws apply to juveniles if it s a serious felony. Yes, juveniles can be more apt to change, but there are those who do not change and continue to commit crime, Juvenile crime has continued to rise, and you see more of them becoming violent. The slap on the wrist, boot camp, and probation just isn t working. Juveniles are becoming very disrespectful towards authority and the law. Service and Asset Privatization Essay example The rapid interest in privatization stroked when all the levels of government economies were persistently challenging in running their operations during last two to three decades of twentieth century (Shirley, 1992). Since then, privatization of public sectors has been a key factor of structural reform programs in both developed and developing countries (Sheshinski Lopez Calva, 2003). The process of transferring ownership of public services from the public sector (the part which is controlled by government) to private sectors (the part which is owned and controlled by private party) is called privatization (Investopia, 2013). Primarily, privatization is to achieve higher allocation and productive efficiency and to strengthen the role of private sector in the economy (Sheshinski Lopez Calva, 2003). Secondarily, it is to improve the public sector s financial health and to free resources for allocation in other important areas of government activity usually related to social policy (Sheshinski Lopez Calva, 2003). For the next ones, they explain that these reduce the level of borrowing and reallocate the possible expenditure towards social policy areas, and these are connected to public sector finance. • 18. Political Influences Of Alexander Pope One of the most influential poets of the 17th and 18th centuries, Alexander Pope significantly influenced classical poetry through his didactic and satirical works. Born in 1688, Pope began his life already facing many challenges through different facets of his life. Because his family were practicing Catholics, the Pope s were forced to move onto the outskirts of town, and Alexander wasn t able to attend school any longer, which challenged him to teach himself. Rising to the challenge, Pope taught himself different languages, and wrote his first poem, Ode on Solitude, at the age of twelve (Masters in English). With his satiric style, Alexander Pope was able to write about his own experiences with Pott s disease, as well as his well known translations of plays such as Illiad and The Odyssey where he included some of his own ideas in their writing (notable biographies). Alexander Pope shaped the writings of his time through the use of satire, drawing on his own life and the situations around him for inspiration and support. In 18th century England, poetry was mainly political and satirical. The main philosophical question was whether the individual or society took precedence as the subject of verse. (slideshare). This time period was led by Alexander Pope because of his early start into writing and his continued works throughout his life. The Autobiography of Malcolm X informs the reader about Malcolm X s philosophy of black pride, black nationalism, and pan Africanism. There are a billion reasons to care when it comes to a book about a human rights activist. I want to take a look at something more personal. There is always time for change. Who would have thought that a little kid from the country who bounced around between foster homes, detention centers, and jails would have done anything with his life? I might have guessed that Malcolm X lived a life of crime until he died in a gunfight based on his history. That did not happen. He changed. I can probably think of a million things that I want to change in my life. Some of them probably seem impossible. That is okay. This book teaches me that there is time for me to change my life as long as I am not dead. This little kid from Nebraska could do it and so can I. Malcolm X only got six short years before his family was torn apart by the death of his father and the nervous breakdown of his mother in the beginning. He and his siblings became wards of the state. He started to dream of living in Boston when he met his half sister Ella. Malcolm went through all kinds of transformations in the next stage of his life. As accounted by many, Traditional healers often act, in part, as an intermediary between the visible and invisible worlds; between the living and the dead or ancestors, sometimes to determine which spirits are at work and how to bring the sick person back into harmony with their ancestors (Abdullahi ¶ 3). This provides the emotional and spiritual depth of traditional medical practitioners, as they truly make an effort to connect patients to their community even if they are severely ill (Abdullahi ¶ 3). Finally, the Igbo tribe held many secret societies, including instruction in medicine, that held both secular and religious functions and allowed inducted community members to learn about its origins ( Cults and Rituals 284). This further establishes their connection of religion to medicine, as secret societies may teach medicine to members in a religious setting. Therefore, when Igbo medical practitioners practiced medicine before colonization, they incorporated many aspects of their religion, including, but not limited to, sorcery and divination, as they have for many years. Two main groups of people were allowed to practice medicine used in Igbo culture.
