Engl 208 03 self-documentary assignment sheet
- 1. ENGL 208-03 Page 1 of 1 “Self-Documentary” Assignment Overview: For this assignment, you will create a “Self-Documentary” inquiry project in which you explore a question you want/need answered. You can focus this project on a single question, or you can explore multiple questions that give insight to larger questions as they are answered. This project can focus on anything related to the self, family, or the world around you. The emphasis of this project is for you to explore truth and see where it takes you. You may be surprised by what you find. While your self-documentary does not require you to ask question(s) about you or your family, you should include your own experiences related to the question(s) you ask via personal narratives you present in your film. Consider whether you would do this by a voice-over with photos/visuals, or with written text in your film. I also strongly recommend including music in your film to weave together lyrics, melodies, and tone with your narratives and visuals. You are also required to interview at least one other person for this project by asking them questions related to the focus of your inquiry. Your interviewees with be your correspondents for your search for truth. If you find yourself wanting to interview people who are not accessible due to geographic constraints, I would suggest doing a skype interview and recording via screencast (I will post links for tools on BBLearn). Your film will need to be at least 5-7 minutes, and we will present our projects during the last two weeks of class. Presentations will be 10 minutes long, so any left over time from your film will be for questions and comments. Due Dates: We will sign up for Presentation Time Slots on Wednesday, April 17th at the beginning of class.
