Hadj Ounis's most notable work is his sculpture titled "Metamorphosis." This piece showcases Ounis's mastery of form and texture, as he seamlessly combines metal and wood to create a dynamic and visually striking composition. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a sense of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between nature and industry.

Working Title:
Annual Explosion
Audience:
My audience mainly is in the age range of 15-30 and predominantly male. They will range from
social group A-C1 but if they are students they will be place into social group E (unemployed) yet
still likely to come from a A-C1 social group background. They are most likely to be individualists,
aspirers and succeeders. Viewers of my short film will mostly be either from the film industry or
students hoping to get into the film industry, this is because students would view it to see what
other students are creating and as inspiration for their own work, and viewers from within the
industry will generally watch short films looking out for new talent that they can hire (talent such as
directors, writers, actors and editors etc.) My product will appeal to 15-30 year olds because it
utilizes factors that through my survey and other sources have been proven to be popular with
young males (action films, short films with plot twists. The survey showed that this demographic
preferred a short entertaining film that carried no value other than to entertain.)
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have learned it is key to plan well and make sure that every shot is well
planed, as when creating the Irn-Bru advert we had to go back and re-shoot almost everything. I
feel like I have learned a lot about composition, colouring and lighting. This will help me when
colour grading my footage, as I will be able to convey some emotion using just colour itself. (colour
lighting character placement) We have studied different style of media (print, video games and
videos.) These different forms of media have taught me mostly about visuals, how to make
something stand out, how to make it look boring etc.
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept for my short film is very simplistic. I wanted it to be simplistic because I wanted to
make sure I could easily and fully convey the story within 60-90 seconds, which would be fun and
entertaining to view, rather than trying to tell an intricate story but failing miserably, leaving me with
no entertainment value. The idea is that a person throughout most of the film, is set up to look as
though he is going to plant a bomb and blow something up. The build-up (the character walking up
to the building and planting the bomb) will be action/adventure style, using fast paced editing,
tracking shots, cool colour tones and very monotone teal colours. I will use a dolly zoom when the
character hits ‘enter’ on the bomb to show something isn’t quite right. I will then have the character
say ‘that wasn’t supposed to happen’ followed by them hectically trying to stop the explosion from
happening as the timer was set to 10 seconds instead of 10 minutes, once it is clear the character
cannot defuse the bomb he will slouch back, and the bomb will go off, just before the ‘explosion’
the shot will change to a wide shot, this will reveal a birthday theme and 1 second after the ‘bombs’
will go off revealing that it was just a confetti bomb.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/

Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
I would like to use a Steadicam for the tracking shots this will require me to practice using a
Steadicam and receive a demonstration as to how it is properly balanced, this will require that I
have access to a Steadicam, which I would have to either hire from York college (if it is accessible)
buy myself or build myself. I am also planning to include a dolly zoom in my short film for which I
will need a slider, which I can again hire from York college (if accessible) purchase for myself or
build it myself. Post production work I have to practice/work on. I must create a colour pallet for my
film and make some practice shots with a colour grade using that pallet applied. I will probably
have to practise creating the ‘Sherlock Holmes effect’ as I have not recreated it before.
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-
production, sound, etc)
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate it against other work, both amateur and professional, I will compare it to existing
work of mine (the Irn-Bru rotation) My peers will give feedback which I can then review to see what
went well what didn’t and what could have been better. I will also evaluate it using my weekly
development diary and my production reflection.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
