3. Research
The research helped decide what horror movie we were going to
review (Saw). One of the positives of doing research was that I
found which audience I was catering to with the podcast and
what they were into. A downfall of the research was knowing
that not the entire audience were interested in a horror podcast.
I could’ve improved my research by asking better, more in depth
questions to know the audience better. This would’ve made the
podcast well rounded and feel more whole as we would’ve
known exactly what to aim for and to talk about.
4. Planning
Planning was helpful because it helped me log my ideas in fun,
organised ways. Mind maps were easy to use and making
subcategories for information is helpful. Mood boards were good
at helping me pick a theme because they showed a similar lay
out to my podcast and what the podcast was about. A problem
with the planning was that we didn’t go very in-depth with what
we were going to do because there’s only so much you can write
on a mind map. To improve the planning we could’ve used more
techniques or wrote more on the ones we used, this would’ve
helped the podcast find its footing and make it whole.
5. Time Management
My time management was almost exactly what I planned it to be
apart from when my premiere pro save file corrupted, which
costed me a couple of days but I got back on track. I was
supposed to finish my editing on Thursday the 25th of November
but it took me until Wednesday the 1st of December. If I had
more time to produce it I would’ve redone our lines to make
editing easier and I would’ve took my time making all the
cuts/edits cleaner. The podcast would’ve benefited from having a
production that was twice as long as it did but I’m happy with
how it turned out regardless.
6. Technical Qualities
Both podcast
logos have trees
and a creepy
font.
Ours has a
hand which
fits into the
theme.
The podcast is
stylistically similar
because we talk
about horror
movies we also do
trivia, our
opinions, etc.
Our podcasts are both
informal and light
hearted with the horror
movies we cover.
Both our podcasts
discuss the movie
Saw.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I like the look of my
work because it fits in
with the horror aspect
of the podcast although
it could be better.
I think my work
is creative for
example the
hand is a nod
to “The Evil
Dead”.
An aspect of my
podcast logo I like
is the trees in the
background as it’s
atmospheric.
I would improve
the hand by
blurring the
edges to make it
insert into the
background
better.
I think the font is a strong point
although it can be hard to read
at a distance when mixed with
the font colour I chose.
If I made it again I’d probably
use a different forest
background to insert more
stuff to look at.
8. Audience Appeal
The podcast episode is
on Saw which is a
horror film that the
majority of the
audience enjoys.
My audience is
predominantly male
16 to 19 year olds
who occasionally
listen to podcasts
and enjoy horror
movies including
Saw.
It’s a podcast so
it’ll appeal to the
members of the
audience that
enjoy podcasts.
Horror movies are for
both genders but
they’re seen as more
male dominated then
female furthermore,
it’ll appeal to the
audience as it’s more
male than female.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
The talkers gave me their genuine and honest
opinions regarding the movie and I value that
the most.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
They should have more trivia questions.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– The movie that they were talking about really
interested me and I got me liking their opinions and
the trivia was a good addition to the podcast.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
Talk a bit slower so you can add more in for talking,
make it longer for a podcast.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– The movie they were talking about was very
interesting and I liked there different opinions on the
subject.
– I would listen to it again if they made newer ones.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• They could of added a camera so we could see
what was going on.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback? I agree with the fact we should’ve used
a camera although it would’ve been harder to
edit.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback? I disagree that we needed more trivia
questions as the editing would’ve doubled and it
would’ve been too much work for the time we
had.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
The changes I would make because of the peer feedback
would be: adding a camera, talking slower and possibly
cleaning up the trivia section. I’d add a camera and clips to
the podcast to make it more entertaining although it would
mean more editing so it’d take longer. If we talked slower it
would be easier to edit although it might ruin how fun the
podcast is. While doing the trivia section, I would of added
more questions as well as more space between each
question to make it easier to edit.
