Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
The short film will be called “Tic Toc”
Audience:
From analysing my primary and secondary research I have found my target audience. When
looking at my primary research I found that all people who took my survey were male. Therefore to
target the male audience I will try to add in more action and dramatic scenes. I also realized that
my audience like the genres comedy and horror, however I will not be targeting this type of
audience as I think horror and comedy is over the top and down right unfunny. Instead I will be
making a adventure, thriller type of short film. Another analysis I have found researching through
primary and secondary research is that, they would enjoy a short film about bad luck, which I think
is great as I wanted to do this idea. My audience was unsure where they wanted the location to be
set as I couldn’t find a clear indicator, therefore I will be choosing the area, which will be abounded
field, therefore It can create dramatic tension as empty fields are terrifying according to secondary
research. My audience identifies with a weak character, however I wont be able to target this type
of audience as the short film I'm making is about a strong character. Finally my audience would be
interested in seeing a adventure, thriller short film. I'm quite pleased with my research, as I have
found ways to target my audience and come up with new/better ways to improve my short film. I
will appeal to my age group, which is 16-20 years old. I will do this by adding a suitable age
certificate that will entertain. It will also contain suitable violence and action that wont be to graphic
for age restrictions issues. The social status I will be targeting is people who are middle class and
have a reliable amount of money.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of the short film I’m going to make is around a watch, the watch when worn causes
the wearer to have bad luck. The short film will show the progress and the bad luck gradually
getting worse. The short film will be only 60 seconds and contain no dialogue except from the
phrase “that wasn’t supposed to happen”, however I can use moans and non language dialogue
for example Mr Bean. I will also need to add a watch prop some where in the short film. The
research I will conduct is going to be the age because I need to know what age group I’m
targeting. I will then conduct research around gender because I need to know what the short film is
going to target. I then will conduct research on what type of genre will I choose as the genre
affects the audience a lot as people can be put off.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
The specialist techniques I will need Is a tripod to pan across the landscape and film still shots for
my short film. I need to make the sound quality great, as I want the short film to be understandable
to the viewer/audience. To do this I might need a suitable mic to record some live sound. I will also
add in effects that make the short film more realistic and enjoyable to watch.
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-
production, sound, etc)
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?

Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work by comparing it to my research and experiments, by doing this I will
realise what parts of my experiments I added in to my final product. I will also self reflect on my
final product and decide if it went well and what to improve if I did it again.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
