1. Planning: Positives
• My planning was very helpful for my project as I had an in depth look at shot types and camera angles, I used the
knowledge that I had discovered in my own work.
• I made a detailed list of common conventions I wanted to integrate into my own work, this gave me a clear list when
beginning production (1)
• I planned out questions to ask throughout my interviews, so I didn’t have to struggle when it got to the day of filming
when looking for something to say. I had planned out questions for three different interviews, this was Tattoo Artist,
Someone with many body Piercings and tattoos and someone with very few piercings or tattoos. I made sure to ask them
related questions to get a wider range of understanding and multiple perspectives.
• Detailed shot list which includes shot number, description and location, this gave clear time management for the
recording.
• When planning for this project, I decided that I wanted to learn about people’s reasons behind getting their tattoos, and I
wanted this to be shown throughout my video, so other people could also understand. I began to understand how this
was done when analysing the existing products, and I wrote about the reasons people choose to get their tattoos shown
in the documentaries.
Planning: Negatives
• My planning didn’t really include much on the actual filming and how it would be done, for example location, tripod,
camera etc. I think this meant then when it came to recording, I struggled to begin with as I felt unprepared, this is
something I will improve on for my next project.
• My planning didn’t go much further than simply watching videos on YouTube and looking at locations online, I think I
would have benefited by doing some practical planning and visiting locations and testing whether I will need a tripod or
any other equipment.
• I created a mind – map for my project to try and help me to create a style, I did this a little bit too early and ended up
including photos that weren’t related to my end project. (3)
