The document provides a detailed lesson plan for a 2nd grade mathematics class. The objectives are to teach dividing two-digit numbers by a one-digit number without remainder through examples and practice problems. The lesson includes reviewing concepts, working through word problems as a class, demonstrating the steps to solve problems, and having students complete group activities and a game to practice their skills. The goal is for students to understand and be able to apply the process of dividing multi-digit numbers.

Thanks everybody! The lesson plans presented were actually outdated and can still be improved. I was also a college student when I did these. There were minor errors but the important thing is, the structure and flow of activities (for an hour-long class) are included here. I appreciate all of your comments! The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Last time we discussed about what?
What are the 3 parts of division equation?
What is a dividend?
How about a divisor?
Correct!
What do we call to the answer in division?
Very good! All your answers are correct.
Now, class I have here an exercise about the
parts of division equation.
(The teacher will call one pupil to read the
directions.)
Directions: Identify if the encircled digit is a
Dividend, Divisor, or Quotient. Write your
answer on the space provided.
_______ 1. ÷ 4 = 3
_______ 2. 28 ÷ 7 =
_______ 3. 12 ÷ = 6
_______4. 24 ÷ 4 =
_______5. 42 ÷ = 7
The Parts of Division Equation.
The 3 Parts of Division Equation are
Dividend, Divisor, Quotient.
Dividend is a number that being divided.
A divisor is a number that divides the dividend.
The answer in division is called quotient.
(The pupil will do as told)
Dividend 1. ÷ 4 = 3
Quotient 2. 28 ÷ 4 =
Divisor 3. 12 ÷ = 6

2. Very good! All your answers are correct! Do
you have any question question in our previous
lesson?
Learning Task-2 Drill
Let’s have a game!
I need 3 representatives from each group.
I have here a basic division equation on the
board. All you have to do is to give the correct
answer.
Form a line, the first pupil in the line will
answer first, followed by the second and up to
the last member..
The group who will get the highest score
will be the winner. I’m going to rate you
according to your speed and accuracy.
Is that clear?
Group 1 Group 2
Group___ got the highest score, so group ___
is the winner.
B. LessonDevelopment
Activity 1
Learning Task-3 Motivation
What occasion is nearly coming?
Why do we celebrate Christmas?
Yes, it is.
Group 1 Group 2
Christmas
We celebrate Christmas because it is the birth
of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
8 ÷ 2=8 ÷ 2=
25 ÷ 5=25 ÷ 5=
36 ÷ 6=36 ÷ 6=
8 ÷ 2=48 ÷ 2=4
25 ÷ 5=525 ÷ 5=5
36 ÷ 6=636 ÷ 6=6
3. Correct!
Learning Task-4 Presentation
(The teacher will tell a story about Santa
Claus)
Now class I’m going to tell a story.
But before that what are the standards to be
followed in listening to a story?
Very good! I expect you to behave well.
Santa Claus lives in a nice city called
Santa Claus Ville. Every day he works hard, in
wrapping gifts for children.
Santa Claus is very generous. He loves to
share. He looks for good children all over the
land. He always sure to have with him a bundle
of toys. For the good little girls and little
boys.
One day when Santa Claus is walking
along the street he saw 3 children, but he has
only 51 candies left in his bag. So, Santa Claus
divides the candies equally to the children.
Santa Claus was very happy to see the
smile on the face of the children.
2. Analysis
Who are the characters in the story?
What can you say about Santa Claus?
For you class, is it important to share? Why?
Now class Santa has a problem he wants
to find out the total amount of candies did each
child receive?
Do you want to help him?
(The teacher will present the word problem.)
Sit properly.
Be quiet.
Listen carefully.
The characters in the story are Santa Claus and
the children.
He is very generous.
Yes, because when we share we can make
people happy.
Yes, teacher.
4. Santa Claus has 51 candies. He divides it
equally to the 3 children. Santa Claus wants to
find out , how many candies did each child
receive in all?
What is the problem of Santa Claus?
Based on the problem, what are given?
What is the number to be divided?
How about the number that will be divided to
51?
What do you think is the operation to be used
in the given problem?
Why do you think we need to use division as
our operation?
Correct!
How do we write the sign in division?
(The teacher will call a pupil.)
Very good!
To easily solve the problem we need to follow
these Steps in Dividing 2 digit numbers by a 1
digit number.
The Steps in Dividing 2 Digit
Numbers by a 1 Digit Number
without remainder are:
STEP 1 Divide the dividend by the
divisor
STEP 2 Multiply the answer with
the divisor
STEP 3 Subtract
STEP 4 Bring down the ones digit
STEP 5 Repeat the steps from 1,2,3
Again class, what are given?
Now class, we need to use this
division sign in order for us to easily solve the
problem.
He wants to find out, how many candies did
each child receive in all?
51 candies and 3 children
51
3
Division
We need to use division because we need to
divide the candies equally.
(The pupil will draw the sign on the board.)
÷
51 and 3
5. So, we write the equation like this.
What is the first step in the dividing 2 digit
numbers by a 1 digit number?
What digit is in the tens place?
What is the divisor?
Now let’s us divide 5 divided by 3 is equal to
what ______?
Very good!
What is the next step?
What is the quotient?
So now class, we need to multiply 1 times 3
equals _____.
What is the third step?
We need to subtract 5 to 3.
What will be the answer?
Class, what is the step 4?
What digit is in the ones place?
Let us bring down the ones digit.
Step 1 Divide the dividend by the divisor
5
3
1
STEP 2 Multiply the answer with the divisor
1
1
3
Step 3 Subtract
1
-3
2
STEP 4 Bring down the ones digit.

6. What is the last step?
Now let us do this again. What is the step 1?
In this case we need to divide 21 divided by 3
is equal to what?
Very good!
Again, what is the second step?
Let us multiply 7 by 3. Is how many?
What is the third step?
So, 21 minus 21 equals to what?
Now Class, what is the quotient?
What is 17 in the word problem?
Very good!
(The teacher will give another examples)
Learning Task-5 Fixing Skills
Class I’m going to group you into two
groups. But before that, what are the standards
to be followed in having a group activity?
STEP 5 Repeat the steps from 1,2,3
Step 1 Divide the dividend by the divisor
17

It is the total amount of candies each child
received in all.
Be cooperative.
Be quiet.
Listen carefully.
7. Very good!
I have here an envelope. Each envelope
has an activity card and the materials that you
will use in your group activity. All you have to
do is to analyze the given problem and find its
quotient. The leader of the group will present
their work.
I will give you 5 minutes to finish your
work.
I will rate you according to your speed and
accuracy.
Is that clear?
Activity Card
Group 1
Rudolph bakes 3 pies a day. How many
days will it take him to bake 36 pies?
Activity Card
Group 2
The 5 elves are roasting 65 ears of corn. How
many ears of corn will each elf get?
3. Abstraction
What are the steps in dividing 2 digit
numbers by a 1 digit number without
remainder?
Very well said!
Yes, it is.
The Steps in Dividing 2 Digit
Numbers by a 1 Digit Number
without remainder are:
STEP 1 Divide the dividend by the
divisor
STEP 2 Multiply the answer with
the divisor
STEP 3 Subtract
STEP 4 Bring down the ones digit
STEP 5 Repeat the steps from 1,2,3
8. 4. Application
Now, let’s have a game!
It is boys vs. Girls.
The game is called “EAT ME FIRST”.
I need 2 representatives from the boys and
girls. You’re going to eat first the banana in
order for you to answer the given division
equation on the board.
The first pupil in the line will answer first
follow by the last member. The group who will
finish first and got the correct answers will be
the winner.
I am going to rate you according to your
speed and accuracy.
Is that clear class?
