I. Objectives
At the end of 50 minutes’ discussion, 78% of the students will be able to:
a. Visualize circumference of a circle
b. Measures the circumference of a circle using various tools;
c. Observe accuracy in measuring circumference of a circle
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Visualizing Circumference of a Circle

Preparatory Activity
Good morning!
How are you today?
Okay, please rise for the prayer.
Praise be the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ
Before you take your sits, kindly please pick-up the
pieces of paper under your chairs.
Please be seated.
1. Drill (Review)
What have we discussed last meeting?
Very good!
What instrument did you use to draw circles?
Very good!
Because compass is an instrument used to draw circles?
And when we say radii it is what?
Radius is the plural form of Radii.
And radius is a line segment from the center to a point
on the circle.
Good morning Teacher!
Fine teacher!
In the name of the father . . . AMEN
Now and forever Amen
In the name of the father . . . AMEN
(picking up the papers)
Thank you Sir!
Drawing circles with different radii.
Compass
Radius
Radius
Is that clear to you now?
Okay!
2. Motivation
The teacher will read a short poem about circle
I’m a Circle
I’m a circle
I’m a circle
Watch me bend
Watch me bend
I am just a curved line
That will never end
I am that smooth
Because I am round
I don’t have the edges
And I am harmless
When every time they touch me
They began to squeeze me
I’m a circle
I’m a circle
What is the title of the poem?
Very good!
How do they describe the circle?
Anything?
Very good!
B. Development Activities
1. Presentation
What have you notice while we are reading the poem,
what is it all about?
Very good!
Does circle have edges?
What have you see in front Eunice?
What we have done earlier is connected to the topic we
are going to discuss this morning.
It’s all about Visualizing the Circumference of a Circle.
As you can see in front there are set of circles which has
different sizes.
Yes, teacher!
I’m a circle
Round and smooth
Have no edges and harmless
Circles
None sir!
Set of circles sir!
What are we going to do is, we have to visualize the
circumference of each circle.
Before anything else who knows what is circumference?
For better
understanding about the circumference of the circle take
a look of this examples.
(after showing the set of circle the teacher will explain
how that happens)
When circle A was roll over the tape measure the
circumference is 11cm.
How about circle B?
Very good!
How about circle X?
And circle Y is about 54cm.
3. Fixing Skills
The teacher will call student from the class to get the
circumference of a circle.
Circumference is the distance around the
circle.
It’s about 29cm
It’s about 30cm
2cm 6cm
15 35
15cm
35cm
18cm
10 15 20 35 40 45
9cm
20cm 46cm
A B
X Y
4. Generalization
How did you see or visualize the circumference of a
circle based from the activities that we have done?
Again, what is circumference?
Very good!
5. Apllication
Group Activity
Using a tape measure and a cylinder pipe with different
sizes, the students will be divided into 4 groups to
analyze each cylinder pipes by getting its diameter and
circumference.
By using different or various measuring tools
/ devices.
Circumference is the distance around the
circle.
(after 5 minutes)
The teacher will ask the group members about their
answers.
(Group 1 – 4 )
IV. Evaluation
Answer the following and get the circumference of
each circle.
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Presentation of work. (*posted on the board)
V. Assignment
Read and study Lesson 2: Circumference of the Circle
on p. 244 – 245 .
Good bye class!
Good bye Sir!
