Plato s Symposium Essay
Plato s Symposium
What is the meaning of love? What does love feel like? How does love come about? No one can
truly explain it, yet somehow it s understood. In Plato s Symposium, a dinner party was held with
the discussion of love as the main topic. Everyone was required to make a speech, an ode to Love,
the spirit. The philosopher, Socrates gave his speech last, claiming that his speech was merely a
repetition of what a wise woman named Diotima once told him. The speech was a powerful one,
but before the night was over, a drunk Alcibiades entered. He was asked to make a eulogy for
Love as well, but instead, talked about the nature of Socrates. The nature of Love and the nature of
Socrates turned out to be extremely similar. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, he was a vagrant, with tough, dry skin (203d). Love took after his mother, Poverty, with
the trait of a constant need. However, he also had characteristics gained from his father, Plenty.
Love enjoyed chasing things of beauty and value (203d), and was filled with courage, impetuosity,
and energy (203d). He had a desire for knowledge, and was resourceful. Magic, herbs, and words
were skills at his disposal.
Socrates was not the most sensitive or attractive man. He showed up to the dinner party half way
through dinner, hardly caring about his late entrance. He was very blunt when asking questions
as well. Just before Agathon s speech, he asked Agathon a series of questions that almost trapped
him into looking extremely foolish(194b e). Socrates liked to chase things of beauty and value as
well. He was always found socializing with attractive people, and his greatest desire was
knowledge. His mind was bursting with ideas of virtue and wisdom, and it was this wisdom that
showed him love.
Socrates had a mind that held the most important and attractive kind of wisdom by far... self
discipline (209a). His self discipline was seen when Agathon described Socrates attitude while
under military service. When food provisions were cut, everyone seemed unable to cope, yet he
never complained once. Then when there was plenty of food, he was able to make it last the
longest. He could out drink anyone that challenged him, but never seemed to ever be

The Security And Privacy Of Citizens Essay
upon recently watching a movie titled Blow, I found myself asking how something like such
could be related to the embassy bombing events and others, like the bombing of the World Trade
Centers, and I quickly discovered that there are thousands of ways in which this is possible. In
fact it is relevant enough that the past two Presidents (Clinton/Bush Jr.) have drawn up plans to
stop it and it appears that America has an opportunity to tackle two rather large problems in one
fight, killing two birds with one stone per say. The only question left too answer would be what
sacrifices will the citizens of America be forced to make? Where will the line be drawn in the
security and privacy of citizens. How much are you willing to give up to lower your chances of
being the recipient of a terrorist attack? (Drug Enforcement Agency hosts symposium on topic) The
links between terrorism and narcotrafficking are real and growing, according to current and former
U.S. officials who participated in a special symposium December 4 at the headquarters of the Drug
Enforcement Administration (DEA). Hosted by the DEA Museum Visitors Center, Target America:
Traffickers, Terrorists and Your Kids brought together government officials with the private sector
experts in an effort to educate the American public about what DEA Administrator Asa
Hutchingson called the extraordinary link between drugs and terrorism. The symposium was part

A Brief Note On Mandatory Overtime And The Impact On Nurse...
Appraising the Evidence: Mandatory Overtime Impact on Nurse Safety

NR 449: Evidence Based Practice
November, 2015 Mandatory Overtime and the Impact it has on Nurse Safety
Problem
This paper addresses how mandatory overtime shifts cause safety problems on the floor, and how
these shifts impact nurses safety. Safety errors can happen in the blink of an eye, and happen more
than most healthcare systems would like to admit. On going issues with nursing shortages have led
to an increase in the amount of hours worked overtime. Numerous studies show that mandatory
overtime causes an increase in safety errors among nurses in the healthcare setting. According to the
article based on the observational study titled, Scheduling and shift work characteristics associated
with risk for occupation injury in newly licensed registered nurses , there is a direct association
between overtime and night shifts and an increased risk for injury (Stimpfel, Brewer, Kovner,
2015). The statistics from this study show the serious impact overtime can have on a nurses safety,
with results stating that nurses working weekly overtime were associated with a 32% increase in
the risk of a needle stick over those who did not work extended hours (Stimpfel, 2015).

qualitative design to provide evidence assessing how overtime shifts

What Is The Purpose Of The Black Cat
THE BLACK CAT is an original sci fi, time travel, action thriller. There is also a compelling and
timeless romance story that is skillfully interwoven throughout the script.
The script offers a thoughtful visionary and cautionary world that explores solid moral questions
about changing our past, present, and future. At the core of the plot is a fascinating and complex
hero, Danny. Aptly known as the Black Cat, who can see in the darkness, he drives this story.
The plot centers on the battle and struggle over control of our destiny. Stones hold the key to
changing the past and future. Danny is clearly the rouge hero, who battles a worthy adversary in
Rose, who wants to control everyone s destiny. They are compelling opponents battling... Show

It should be noted that on page 61, when the story transitions to 1949, there s a jarring sense like
one is watching a different film. Eventually, this feeling fades. For the most part, the plot and series
of sequences feel easy to follow until the midpoint and then around page 75. This is when stronger
confusion emerges.
One thinks the story is back to the point before Danny found the stones. The narrative description
says: heading to the chateau, about to find the stones. However, then Danny is suddenly back in the
Ford with the Twins. This makes the audience feel lost. Try to clarify this.
Also, in the climax battle, when Danny is supposedly dead, the story feels dominated by Gabrielle
and Frank, rather than our hero.
What does work nicely is the scene in which it appears that Danny is trying to save Rose, but he
slips the ring off her finger. It s a smart and very satisfying payoff.
On the other hand, Rose claiming she loves Danny and that he loves her, doesn t feel credible or
authentic. Rose definitely is seductive, but the dialogue doesn t fully ring true.
The ending is sweet and gratifying, although it might be challenging to convince the audience that
just after Gabrielle tells him about the death of Frank that he proposes. The issue or concern might
be that the audience isn t clear on the timeline and when his death

Both Mary Shelley s В‘Frankenstein and Bram Stoker s...
Both Mary Shelley s В‘Frankenstein and Bram Stoker s В‘Dracula are concerned with
representations of evil . Which creation/character do you find most frightening and why?
Evil features in both В‘Dracula and В‘Frankenstein but the personification of this evil is different
in both novels. A feeling of menace and doom pervades В‘Draculabecause of his supernatural
powers. One feels that he has control of the evil and he has the power to manipulate the
environment and people for his own ends. В‘Frankenstein centres on the creation of a monster
made from parts of dead bodies and the fear created by the monster due to circumstance and the
ignorance of society. Also, one feels a certain amount of apprehension that the monster is deserted

Mina realises this and pleads with the men to not tell her anything that might give their plans away.
I found Dracula particularly vivid in detail, this contributed to making the novel more
frightening, the horror and blood filled images were described so brilliantly that I could not
help but imagine them. Her white night dress was smeared with blood, and a thin stream
trickled down the man s bare breast, which was shown by his torn open dress. The attitude of the
two had a terrible resemblance to a child forcing a kitten s nose into a saucer of milk to compel it
to drink. This horrifying scene continues, His eyes flamed red with devilish passion, his aquiline
nose opened wide and quivered at the edges; and the white sharp teeth, behind the full lips of the
blood dripping mouth, champed together like those of a wild beast. In В‘Frankenstein the monster
does not wish to spill blood and uses strangulation as his only method of killing, the murder scenes
are not described in as much horrific detail and this leads to a less frightening view of the novel.
To me, Dracula is a corrupt person, devoid of any human feelings, he does not wish to and cannot
feel compassion for any other living soul, he is completely self involved and lives a solitary life,
the only companions of his kind are the three female vampires. The difference with Frankenstein s
monster is that he is a creature corrupted by

Speech About Coconut
Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) is one of the main crops which is abundantly produced in the
Philippines. Coconut can be served as food and can be produced to various products and by
products. Some food examples are copra, coconut oil, coconut milk, latik, desiccated coconut,
coconut flour, etc. As compared to other agricultural crops, coconutprovides more products and by
products since all of its parts starting from the tree itself to the fruits has its uses. Hence, many
people especially in Southeast Asia, Pacific region, Africa and some countries in Latin America,
considered coconut as a significant crop in agriculture and industries (The Coconut Industry, n.d.).
Since supply of coconut is very essential to many countries, it is essential to monitor its production.
The production per land area can be quantified through crop yield.
Crop yield is used to determine the efficiency of food production. Basically, it is the amount of
produced crop per area of land. Moreover, it is sometimes called as agricultural output and
conveyed in kilograms/hectare or metric tons/hectare. Essentially, the use of evaluating the crop
yield is to determine the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ancient Mariner Mistakes
The gift of youth always comes with a price, and that price is the reality of mistakes and it must
be paid. As we age and become more experienced this reality is an obvious part of life that we all
must live with. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, written by Samuel Coleridge, embodies the idea
of a life full of mistakes, and paying for them. After killing the albatrossthe Mariner find himself a
victim of his own actions as the people around him begin to suffer. With time the Mariner begins
to see a beauty about life, and discovers he has found a respect for life and animals. This
realization leads the the Mariner coming to terms with his mistakes, and the results is his freedom.
The main message from the poem is that, as Walt Disney would say,... Show more content on

The Mariner s consequence for his past actions are to continuously tell his story to whomever he
wishes. This sentence tells the reader that mistakes can be forgiven, but never forgotten. The
Mariner forgave himself, moved on, and now he is to share his wisdom with others to save them
from learning the hard way as he did. One writer once said that, ...we seem to forget that when
we make mistakes, we grow. An atmosphere of growth is integral to happiness. So create
happiness by seeing mistakes as true growth opportunities, (Kelly). The act of sharing his
knowledge with others opens up an opportunity for him because, he has the choice of whom to
share with, and he chooses to share with the youth. In the final pages of the poem the Mariner
finishes his tale and leaves the the boy to ponder what had just happened. The boy is described
to walk, like one that hath been stunned and is sense of forlorn: a sadder and a wiser man, he
rose the morrow morn, (lines 622 625, p.845). The wisdom that the older man had shared with the
boy forced him mind to think of what was truly relevant in life, what was real. A professor once

destruction. But, he also created a vibrant empire with a common language, booming trade,

water or not. Background: Hard water is the water that has a high amount of mineral in it,
usually Ca2+ and Mg+. These cations enter the source of water by leaching from minerals
within a wet underground layer of water bearing rock, or an aquifer. According to the WHO,
hard water is not harmful to human s health but it s a serious problem in the water industry.

Relatively, how much more? The well water from Wilton has a larger amount of Ca 2+/Mg 2+
compared to the Elk Grove tap water. Relatively, it s approximately twice harder because 28
drops of EDTA is added to Wilton well water in order to make it turns blue while it only take 16
drops to changes color of Elk Grove tap water. 2) EDTA is often added to shampoo. Can you
suggest why? EDTA is added to shampoo to take away the calcium and magnesium that exists.
The shampoo will then lather and creates more bubbles; that s greater to bathe in. 3) Pots and pans
used for boiling water often develop a coating of scale in homes that use hard water. What might
this scale be? The scale might be magnesium and calcium. After the water reaches its boiling point,
all the water molecules would turns into gas evaporates, left the solid magnesium and calcium at
the bottom of the pans. 4) Why might the water of one region be much harder than another? The
water of different region has different hardness level because water comes from different sources of
underground aquifers. The amount of

Essay On The Stock Market Crash
The stock market crash was a leading cause in the great depression and negatively impacted the
US by increasing poverty, making it harder to live, and it also changed economics and the world
today. I will explain the reasons behind the crash and its effects on life in America.
The stock market, in this case the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), is a place where people
can go to buy, sell, or trade stock, or shares, of companies. The NYSE, which was officially
founded in 1817, was bustling with people and investors in the 1920s. Everyone thought that the
stock market was just an easy way to get rich. People thought that profit was certain, but it wasn t.
In 1929 the NYSE had reached its peak, as almost everyone had stock. While there were warning
signs of a potential crash, many people ignored them or marked them as insignificant. October 24th

Farmers were faced with severe droughts which caused most of their crops were destroyed.
Farmers would take out a loan to buy seed. When the harvest came they would reimburse the loaner.
Many farmers went bankrupt because they were unable to repay their debts.
After the crash of the stock market and the closure of banks nationwide, the Federal Government
took steps to prevent another crash or to at least minimize the impact. Additionally, they took
steps to get out of the depression. President Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed a New Deal. His New
Deal introduced many agencies and programs that helped lower the unemployment rate and
promote the economy. Many of these programs are still in effect today, helping prevent another
large economic depression. The Federal Reserve also took measures to stop banks from closing
like they did after the crash.
The stock market crash caused an economic depression in the US and also worldwide. It destroyed
many businesses and investors and had a negative impact on America. Steps have been taken to
prevent a similar crash from

Analysis Of To Autumn, It Sifts From Leaden Sieves And...
Red and green and gold and orange dance across crisp autumn sky, moved along on the currents
of a steady breeze. Sunlight filters through leaves that still clinging to the towering Oak and
Maple trees along the dirt trail. Little feet pound the ground, compressing the leaves and sending
up puffs of dirt, as a rabbit hops along through the underbrush. He startles a flock of birds which
take flight and voice their anger at being disturbed with a chorus of shrill cawing. The little
rabbit continues his journey occasionally pausing to rummage around in the leaves, but finds
nothing to his liking and proceeds with his hopping. A sudden noise makes him freeze in place.
Cautiously, he settles onto his hind legs and his pink nose along with his ears twitch in search of
a clue to what might have caused the disturbance. Having decided that the danger has passed the
rabbit hops up onto a log which spans a babbling brook. He rests there a moment and allows for
the coolness rising from the water to wash over him. After crossing the stream he stops at the water
s edge lapping at the water with his tiny tongue. Once he has had his fill, he returns to his burrow
nestled among a copse sapling maples, deep within the forest. The seasons of Autumnand Winter are
paid tribute in these three sonnets: To Autumn, It Sifts From Leaden Sieves, and Fall Song written
by John Keats, Emily Dickinsonand Mary Oliver respectively. Each makes use of eloquent imagery
in order to compose a specific tone;

The Power Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
What is the American Dream? Is it wealth and power? Or is it liberty and freedom? The
American Dream is different for every individual. In Gatsby s case, his dream revolves around
the pursuit of Daisy. The Declaration of Independence states, All men are created equal, that they
are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty,
and pursuit of Happiness. This statement compresses the wide array of American Dreams into
one statement. The pursuit of happiness is different for every human being. Gatsby s dream was
to rise out of a low economic level and into high wealth, winning Daisy over along the way. The
dream of finding fortune, fame, and true love is something that almost all Americans strive for
(Galley). Gatsby was too ambitious in the pursuit of his dream. During his struggle for Daisy, he
failed to recognize that his vision was not attainable. The American Dream causes corruption in the
world. Jay Gatsbysymbolized the quest for the American Dream. He had an extraordinary gift for
hope... such as I have never found in any person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again

the hill, but the boulder continually rolls back down to the bottom. The role of ambition plays a
key role in the quest for the American Dream. Gatsby was too ambitious and he was killed as a
result. Fitzgerald s story is not a commentary on the American Dream in a common sense. It
shows negative effects and criticizes the American Dream. The reality is that we do not always
know our American Dream. Until we truly know what makes us happy, we do not know how to
get there. As Tommy Hilfiger said, The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work,
drive, and passion, it s possible to achieve the American

What Is Marginalization In Tourism
The Marginalization Error The Caribbean is a popular area to vacation and visit. The great
weather, the beautiful scenery, and endless resorts that people can choose from create an attractive
destination. Once on the island, tourist are graced with an amazing view of the island, great
customer service, and remarkable accommodations. Yet, at what cost? Typically, a tourist would
answer with the response of money and time being the cost. But, how do islanders feel; at what
expense must temporal pleasures be bought for tourists? In her story, A Small Place, Jamaica
Kincaiddefines tourists as, ugly things because tourist visit islands to escape their mundane lives
while islanders do not have the same luxury to watch other peoples lives like a spectacle at their
disposal (14). Other stories such as Visiting , by Roger McTair, and articles such as It s Time to
Take the Virgin Islands Out of the Closet, by Devin Robinson, share similar and eye opening
dilemmas derived from tourist marginalizing islanders and the deceitful nature that attracts tourists.
The relationship between islanders and tourists is growing increasingly bitter due to the causes of
islanders being envious of tourists affluence, resorts being deceptive in what the islands have to
offer (and what they consist of), and tourists marginalize islanders into the sole purpose of pleasing
them and enhancing their Caribbeanexperience. In the story, A Small Place, Jamaica Kincaid
reveals an honest perception of

A Comparison Of Identity Theory And Social Identity
What is identity? A loose definition of identity is a sense of who we are. So how do we develop or
define our identity? Do we define it by the roles we play; mother, father, priest, teacher? Or do we
define it by what groups we associate ourselves with; republican, atheist, professional? This paper
will briefly discuss identitytheory and social identity theory and then review the similarities and
the differences of the two. Identity theory examines how social conditions mold our identities and
subsequently direct our behaviors. In other words, society influences the roles we play and we
behave in ways that meet the expectations of that role. For example, a woman who has a child
identifies as a mother and then behaves in ways that are acceptable to being a mother in
accordance with the social standards she lives in. In addition to this, identity theory states that the
self is based on multiple roles; the mother can also be a daughter, an employee, a sister and a tennis
player. In identity theory terms, these are called role identities.... Show more content on

So, a woman, when caring for her child, will likely behave in ways that are nurturing but, that

role is more important to them. When two roles are in conflict a person will choose one over the
other. The mother mentioned above may abandon her work if her child is ill and her role as a

I arrived early at the dodgers training session today. I started off communicating to Anthony who
is currently dealing with lack of motivation. You could improve Anthony s lack of motivation by

Anthony why he enjoys the sport or why he did in the first place so that he can find his passion

Mathews focus we will have to look at where he looses the most focus, this is during after the

The Perceptible Propaganda in the film Triumph of the Will (Triumph des Willens)
JS 233: The Holocaust and Film
Prof. James Diamond
Monday, February 2nd, 2015
The film Triumph of the Will was created in 1934 after Hitler was named Fuhrer of Germany. At
the time, Hitler was eager to improve the public image of the NSDP (National Socialist German
Workers Party). After his election as chancellor in Early January 1933, Hitler gave Leni Riefenstahl
the job of filming the annual NSDAP conference in Nuremberg, Germany . Riefenstahl accepted the
offer and agreed document, direct and edit the Conference. As years pasted, the infamous
documentary began to be speculated as possible Nazi Propaganda.
Although presumptions began to arise, Riefenstahl stated that Triumph of the Will was clearly a
factual documentary and stated: Not a single scene is staged...It is history, pure history and that
she simply filmed what she saw. Susan Sontag s response in her dissertation Fascinating Fascism
concluded that the film is fascist propaganda promoting Nazi ideology but itself is not a about
fascism . Sontag was right to the title the film was fascist due to Riefenstahl s extreme forthright
about her infatuation with Hitler. In an interview with Detroit news Riefenstahl stated: To me
Hitler is the greatest man who ever lived. He is really faultless, so simple yet so filled with ,manly

The Bombing Of Oklahoma City
The period between 1995 and 2005 is very memorable in America s history. There are several
incidences and occurrences that unfolded which helped in shaping and framing the current United
States of America. The bombing of Oklahoma City is a major epic event that still lingers in the
minds of most Americans. However, there is much to contemplate and deduce based on the
incidence of 19th April 1995. The music industry also experienced drastic changes between this
time frame and analyzing these changes is pivotal in understanding the history of America and may
assist in predicting the changes to be expected within the next one decade. Evolution and
advancement in technology are also a crucial part of the discussion of American history and the
emergence of the digital era. It is, therefore, worth appreciating and acknowledging the past since it
forms part of our identity.
Timothy McVeighwas the main accuser in the case of Oklahoma City bombing. The bomb
exploded during the early morning hours of 19th April 19, 1995. Despite being an ex military
officer, Timothy was the main conspirator, and he used a rented truck to bomb the downtown side
of the Oklahoma City. The accused had parked the truck on the rear part of the Alfred P. Murrah
Federal Building, which is located in the downtown of Oklahoma City. According to the FBI, the
powerful bomb mounted on the truck was made of a mixture of diesel fuel, agricultural fertilizers
and traces of other chemicals ( Oklahoma City Bombing ).

food out of the game reserve. Cecil was then killed by an illegal party of big game hunters. The
man who killed Cecil was identified by conservation groups as American, Dr. Walter Palmer, a
dentist in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (CBS 1) James Palmers, the huntingguide, and a landowner
whose property is adjacent to the Hwange game reserve, are facing poaching charges. The two
men were both granted 1,000 dollars each of bail money.(CBS 19) In 2008, Palmer had been in

The Four Concepts Of Symbolic Interactionism
Symbolic interactions are a major part of how we socialize with others. It happens every day
without us even realizing it. There are many concepts that assist in the formation of symbolic
interactions, but to better understand them, we need to apply them to social settings. The four
concepts of social interactionism theory I chose to observe at the social settings of my choosing
were; definition of situation, symbols, front regions, and role playing. These concepts often
interrelate as they all are a part of each other. To better understand these concepts, they were applied
to two different social settings which were the bar and massat the Catholic church. The concepts
will be defined and reviewed in the order above.
When we refer to definition of situation, we are referring to what the entrance of the social setting
encompasses. We look at what are the norms, the rules, and what is acceptable in that setting.
For example, when I was entering the bar, there were people outside smoking. To be able to
walk through the front doors, there was a man who one had to give an ID to so he could check
the age to allow the person to get in. When I walked through the doors, there were people sitting
at tables in groups of three to five people on the left who would look to see who was entering the
bar. On the right side of the bar, there were four people playing foosball and two people at each
pool table. As I continued to the back, there were people sitting at the bar visiting.

A quinceaГ±era is the celebration of a girls fifteenth birthday. It is a huge celebration in the
spanish culture. It is first step into womanhood, for a girl. It gives thanks to God thanks for his

The Hundred Years War And Feudal Society
The Hundred Years War and Feudal Society Why did the feudal order of Medieval society fall
apart? The feudal order of the Middle Ages was a system of local rule, where powerful lords
gave land and protection in exchange for loyalty and military service from lesser lords. Tradition
dictated that this exchange would be held in place by the feudal contract, consisting of multiple
pledges. This resulted in small communities consisting of one powerful lord, peasants, and serfs
who worked for the lord. These people gave their loyalty locally, and had no sense of
nationalism. This type of society was predominant in the Early Middle Ages, but soon started to
fall apart during the Late Middle Ages. One major event that contributed to the fall of the feudal
society was the Hundred Years War. This war was fought between England and France, lasting for
a total of 116 years. During the war, peasant uprisings became frequent, as the inordinate cost of
military campaigns resulted in heavier taxes. Events such as these were caused by the Hundred
Years War and further contributed to the decline of feudalistic society. The Hundred Years War was
the most important cause of the fall of the feudal order, acting as a turning point in Medieval
society by marking the transition from feudal knights to the masses of common foot soldiers,
changing the balance of power within Medieval social hierarchies, and strengthening nationalism
while creating a more modern militaristic society. First,

Descriptive Essay About Crash
See you later Mom, love you Dad. As I start up the engine of my small plane that I had bought
after getting my license I started my 2,000 mile journey across the Atlantic ocean. I take off from
Jackson Mississippi airport and in an instant in 10,000 feet above sea level. I turn on auto pilot and
take a nap.
I jolt up to a loud siren and a red flashing red light. The aircraft that I was in is heading for an
island that was not marked on my radar. The smoke from the engine is puffed up in my face and
my wing is on fire, how this happened, I don t know. There was never a sign of the engine
overheating and not a single bird in the air. As I was free falling in my planeI had to think fast, so I
jumped out of the plane and parachuted on to the beach. My broken down plane flew over my
head with a tale of smoke and barrel rolled into the dark forest of this new founded island. I start

In 1933, Hitler came to power in Germany. Although Mussolini was the senior Fascist, he soon
recognised Hitler as the dominant figure on the European stage. Reversing his earlier policies, and
despite the fact that he had once had a Jewish mistress, Mussolini introduced anti Semitic

In 1935, Mussolini tried to demonstrate Italy s power by invading Abyssinia (now Ethiopia). The

Organizational Culture at Chrysler
Organizational culture
Organizational culture can loosely be defined as the shared assumptions, beliefs, and normal
behaviors (norms) of a group. These are powerful influences on the way people live and act, and
they define what is normal and how to sanction those who are not normal. To a large degree, what
we do is determined by our culture.
Organizational culture is similar to, say, regional culture. The same person in different
organizations (or parts of the same organization) would act in different ways.
Culture is very powerful. (One example is the cultural change effort at British Airways, which
transformed an unprofitable airline with a poor reputation into a paragon of politeness and profit).

One change which helps to keep projects pure is setting down objectives clearly, at the

How Did Mark Morris Influence The World Of Dance
Dance is an ever evolving form of art; in much the same way that one can categorize and
differentiate between eras and styles of architecture one can also do so with dance. These eras at
times have sharp delineations separating them from their antecedents, other times the distinction is
far more subtle. Traditional forms of dancewere challenged by choreographers attempting to
expand the breadth and increase the depth of performance; preeminent among such visionaries
was Seattle born dancer and choreographer Mark Morris. Mark Morris began as one of the
millions of hopeful individuals attempting to simply make a career in dance; he not only succeeded

Morris claims are the choreographers that have most influenced him. Morris has become so well

He is seen today as one of the most enduring forces in modern dance choreography, having

Three Developmental Issues In Everyday Life
1.Discuss three developmental issues that effect our every day lives? ADHD which is a attention
defecit/hyperactivity disorder is one of the most common neurobehavioral disorders, characterized
by problems with inattentiveness, over activity, impulsivity, or a combination. For these problems
to be diagnosed as AD/HD, they must be out of the normal range for the child s age and
development. It is usually first diagnosed in childhood and often persists into adulthood. Diagnosis

Alcohol Drinking can cause fetal alcohol syndrome, including symptoms like behavior
abnormalities, low birth weight, and medical problems. If you re pregnant or think you may be
pregnant you should not be consuming alcohol at all. 2.Smoking Smoking is not only bad for
you, but bad for your baby as well. Smoking during pregnancy reduces the amount of oxygen that
the baby receives and increases the risk of miscarriage, bleeding, and morning sickness.
Chemicals inhaled while smoking may lead to other health problems with the baby. Reduced
birth weight, premature birth, increased risk of SIDS, and stillbirth are other possible
consequences. Pregnant women should also avoid second hand smoke. 3.Caffeine There are
many conflicting studies about caffeine and pregnancy and some believe that caffeine is not as
harmful as it was once thought to be. The FDA warns against caffeine consumption during
pregnancy because it has been shown to affect fetal heart rates and awake time which is when
fetuses grow when sleeping. The FDA suggests quitting or reducing consumption at the very
least. Caffeine can also increase risk of stretch marks. If you heavily consume caffeine on a daily its
best to slowly ween yourself down to less and less of it every day so you don t cause yourself

Fine Furniture Case Summary
Fine Furniture, Inc. and Jaguar Interiors both agreed to terms of a sales contract. A contract
involves two or more parties promising to perform an action in exchange for consideration.
Consideration is what each party receives in return for each party s promise in the contract. In
this example, a sale of goods was involved. A sale means that the seller is passing title, or
ownership, of the goods to the buyer for a price. Goods are physical items that can be moved at
the time of identification to the contract. In this scenario, Fine Furniture, Inc., a furniture

This grants her special rights and privileges. Nora drove to her bank, Bank of the Homeland, to
deposit the check into her checking account. Unfortunately, before she even stepped into her car
to drive, the check fell out of her pocketbook and onto the street. A gust of wind sent the check
onto the street corner and an anonymous woman picked it up. Later that day, the woman cashed
the check at a different Bank of the Homeland. After four weeks, Nora noticed that the check was
processed and she subsequently called the vice president of her Bank of Homelands branch. She
wants the $542 from the paycheck to be credited to her checking account. The vice president says
that she will look into it and unfortunately for Nora, does not guarantee a resolution to the
problem. There are a number of issues to analyze here. First of all, Nora is a holder in due course
and this does grant her rights and freedom, from defenses such as fraud in the inducement in the
underlying contract, illegality, and duress. However, this does not mean that the bank is liable in this

Political regularity environment
Policy can contribute to constrict or to empower business (Allan, M 2016). Based on the current

  • 2. Plato s Symposium Essay Plato s Symposium What is the meaning of love? What does love feel like? How does love come about? No one can truly explain it, yet somehow it s understood. In Plato s Symposium, a dinner party was held with the discussion of love as the main topic. Everyone was required to make a speech, an ode to Love, the spirit. The philosopher, Socrates gave his speech last, claiming that his speech was merely a repetition of what a wise woman named Diotima once told him. The speech was a powerful one, but before the night was over, a drunk Alcibiades entered. He was asked to make a eulogy for Love as well, but instead, talked about the nature of Socrates. The nature of Love and the nature of Socrates turned out to be extremely similar. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, he was a vagrant, with tough, dry skin (203d). Love took after his mother, Poverty, with the trait of a constant need. However, he also had characteristics gained from his father, Plenty. Love enjoyed chasing things of beauty and value (203d), and was filled with courage, impetuosity, and energy (203d). He had a desire for knowledge, and was resourceful. Magic, herbs, and words were skills at his disposal. Socrates was not the most sensitive or attractive man. He showed up to the dinner party half way through dinner, hardly caring about his late entrance. He was very blunt when asking questions as well. Just before Agathon s speech, he asked Agathon a series of questions that almost trapped him into looking extremely foolish(194b e). Socrates liked to chase things of beauty and value as well. He was always found socializing with attractive people, and his greatest desire was knowledge. His mind was bursting with ideas of virtue and wisdom, and it was this wisdom that showed him love. Socrates had a mind that held the most important and attractive kind of wisdom by far... self discipline (209a). His self discipline was seen when Agathon described Socrates attitude while under military service. When food provisions were cut, everyone seemed unable to cope, yet he never complained once. Then when there was plenty of food, he was able to make it last the longest. He could out drink anyone that challenged him, but never seemed to ever be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Security And Privacy Of Citizens Essay upon recently watching a movie titled Blow, I found myself asking how something like such could be related to the embassy bombing events and others, like the bombing of the World Trade Centers, and I quickly discovered that there are thousands of ways in which this is possible. In fact it is relevant enough that the past two Presidents (Clinton/Bush Jr.) have drawn up plans to stop it and it appears that America has an opportunity to tackle two rather large problems in one fight, killing two birds with one stone per say. The only question left too answer would be what sacrifices will the citizens of America be forced to make? Where will the line be drawn in the security and privacy of citizens. How much are you willing to give up to lower your chances of being the recipient of a terrorist attack? (Drug Enforcement Agency hosts symposium on topic) The links between terrorism and narcotrafficking are real and growing, according to current and former U.S. officials who participated in a special symposium December 4 at the headquarters of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Hosted by the DEA Museum Visitors Center, Target America: Traffickers, Terrorists and Your Kids brought together government officials with the private sector experts in an effort to educate the American public about what DEA Administrator Asa Hutchingson called the extraordinary link between drugs and terrorism. The script offers a thoughtful visionary and cautionary world that explores solid moral questions about changing our past, present, and future. At the core of the plot is a fascinating and complex hero, Danny. Aptly known as the Black Cat, who can see in the darkness, he drives this story. The plot centers on the battle and struggle over control of our destiny. Stones hold the key to changing the past and future. For the most part, the plot and series of sequences feel easy to follow until the midpoint and then around page 75. This is when stronger confusion emerges. One thinks the story is back to the point before Danny found the stones. The narrative description says: heading to the chateau, about to find the stones. However, then Danny is suddenly back in the Ford with the Twins. This makes the audience feel lost. Try to clarify this. Also, in the climax battle, when Danny is supposedly dead, the story feels dominated by Gabrielle and Frank, rather than our hero. What does work nicely is the scene in which it appears that Danny is trying to save Rose, but he slips the ring off her finger. It s a smart and very satisfying payoff. On the other hand, Rose claiming she loves Danny and that he loves her, doesn t feel credible or authentic. Rose definitely is seductive, but the dialogue doesn t fully ring true. The ending is sweet and gratifying, although it might be challenging to convince the audience that just after Gabrielle tells him about the death of Frank that he proposes. Mina realises this and pleads with the men to not tell her anything that might give their plans away. I found Dracula particularly vivid in detail, this contributed to making the novel more frightening, the horror and blood filled images were described so brilliantly that I could not help but imagine them. Her white night dress was smeared with blood, and a thin stream trickled down the man s bare breast, which was shown by his torn open dress. The attitude of the two had a terrible resemblance to a child forcing a kitten s nose into a saucer of milk to compel it to drink. This horrifying scene continues, His eyes flamed red with devilish passion, his aquiline nose opened wide and quivered at the edges; and the white sharp teeth, behind the full lips of the blood dripping mouth, champed together like those of a wild beast. In В‘Frankenstein the monster does not wish to spill blood and uses strangulation as his only method of killing, the murder scenes are not described in as much horrific detail and this leads to a less frightening view of the novel. Little feet pound the ground, compressing the leaves and sending up puffs of dirt, as a rabbit hops along through the underbrush. He startles a flock of birds which take flight and voice their anger at being disturbed with a chorus of shrill cawing. The little rabbit continues his journey occasionally pausing to rummage around in the leaves, but finds nothing to his liking and proceeds with his hopping. A sudden noise makes him freeze in place. Cautiously, he settles onto his hind legs and his pink nose along with his ears twitch in search of a clue to what might have caused the disturbance. Having decided that the danger has passed the rabbit hops up onto a log which spans a babbling brook. He rests there a moment and allows for the coolness rising from the water to wash over him. • 15. A Comparison Of Identity Theory And Social Identity What is identity? A loose definition of identity is a sense of who we are. So how do we develop or define our identity? Do we define it by the roles we play; mother, father, priest, teacher? Or do we define it by what groups we associate ourselves with; republican, atheist, professional? This paper will briefly discuss identitytheory and social identity theory and then review the similarities and the differences of the two. Identity theory examines how social conditions mold our identities and subsequently direct our behaviors. In other words, society influences the roles we play and we behave in ways that meet the expectations of that role. For example, a woman who has a child identifies as a mother and then behaves in ways that are acceptable to being a mother in accordance with the social standards she lives in. In addition to this, identity theory states that the self is based on multiple roles; the mother can also be a daughter, an employee, a sister and a tennis player. • 24. The Four Concepts Of Symbolic Interactionism Symbolic interactions are a major part of how we socialize with others. It happens every day without us even realizing it. There are many concepts that assist in the formation of symbolic interactions, but to better understand them, we need to apply them to social settings. The four concepts of social interactionism theory I chose to observe at the social settings of my choosing were; definition of situation, symbols, front regions, and role playing. These concepts often interrelate as they all are a part of each other. To better understand these concepts, they were applied to two different social settings which were the bar and massat the Catholic church. The concepts will be defined and reviewed in the order above. When we refer to definition of situation, we are referring to what the entrance of the social setting encompasses. We look at what are the norms, the rules, and what is acceptable in that setting. For example, when I was entering the bar, there were people outside smoking. To be able to walk through the front doors, there was a man who one had to give an ID to so he could check the age to allow the person to get in. When I walked through the doors, there were people sitting at tables in groups of three to five people on the left who would look to see who was entering the bar. On the right side of the bar, there were four people playing foosball and two people at each pool table. As I continued to the back, there were people sitting at the bar visiting. ... • 27. The Hundred Years War And Feudal Society The Hundred Years War and Feudal Society Why did the feudal order of Medieval society fall apart? The feudal order of the Middle Ages was a system of local rule, where powerful lords gave land and protection in exchange for loyalty and military service from lesser lords. Tradition dictated that this exchange would be held in place by the feudal contract, consisting of multiple pledges. This resulted in small communities consisting of one powerful lord, peasants, and serfs who worked for the lord. These people gave their loyalty locally, and had no sense of nationalism. This type of society was predominant in the Early Middle Ages, but soon started to fall apart during the Late Middle Ages. One major event that contributed to the fall of the feudal society was the Hundred Years War. This war was fought between England and France, lasting for a total of 116 years. During the war, peasant uprisings became frequent, as the inordinate cost of military campaigns resulted in heavier taxes. Events such as these were caused by the Hundred Years War and further contributed to the decline of feudalistic society. The Hundred Years War was the most important cause of the fall of the feudal order, acting as a turning point in Medieval society by marking the transition from feudal knights to the masses of common foot soldiers, changing the balance of power within Medieval social hierarchies, and strengthening nationalism while creating a more modern militaristic society.
