High School Entrance Essay
Crafting a High School Entrance Essay can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate
balance of self-expression, academic prowess, and an understanding of the institution's
expectations. The difficulty lies not only in the task of showcasing one's achievements,
aspirations, and unique qualities but also in presenting them in a compelling narrative that stands
out among a sea of applicants.
Firstly, delving into personal experiences and articulating them in a way that resonates with the
intended audience can be daunting. It demands introspection and self-awareness, as the essay
prompts often require students to reflect on their past achievements, challenges, and future goals.
The challenge is not merely in listing accomplishments but in weaving a cohesive and engaging
story that captures the reader's attention from the outset.
Furthermore, the essay must strike a balance between humility and confidence. It should
showcase the student's strengths and potential without veering into arrogance. Striking this
delicate equilibrium requires a keen understanding of one's achievements and an ability to
communicate them effectively without appearing boastful.
Additionally, the challenge lies in tailoring the essay to the specific requirements of the
institution. Researching the school, understanding its values, and aligning one's goals with its
mission can be time-consuming. Crafting a personalized essay that demonstrates a genuine desire
to be part of the school community requires a deep understanding of the institution's ethos.
Finally, the pressure to stand out in a competitive pool of applicants adds another layer of
difficulty. The essay must be unique, memorable, and leave a lasting impression. This
necessitates creativity and originality in both content and presentation, making the writing
process all the more intricate.
In conclusion, writing a High School Entrance Essay involves navigating a complex terrain of
self-expression, humility, institution-specific alignment, and competition. Success in this
endeavor requires not only strong writing skills but also a deep understanding of oneself and the
target institution. As daunting as it may be, it is a crucial step in the application process,
demanding careful consideration and effort to create an essay that truly reflects the essence of
the applicant.

The Pros And Cons Of Easter Island
How an ancient, massive statue called a moai has moved from the quarries to its
ahu has many people questioning, how did the ancient natives of Easter Island do
it? Over the years, archeologists and engineers have tried to answer this question.
However all theories of these great occurrences have limitations. This may be
because no one truly knows how the ancients of Easter Island lived and how advance
their culture may have been. Another reason for these limitations is the natural
resources that are available today versus the natural resources of the past. Not only is
there a difference in the natural resources available, but the landscape may also differ
from the past. Taking these factors into consideration it is still possible to theorize
Essay about The Revolutions of 1848
The revolution of 1848 encompassed many of the European countries. The
revolutions sweeping across Europe included Germany, Italy, and France,
excluding Russia and England. Many historians refer to the year of 1848 as, The
Year of Revolutions , because of how the revolts spread throughout Europe. The
question is which political groups were the influence behind this revolution and
what were the causes of the revolution. The revolution united many diverse groups
of people; they were able to put aside their differences to move toward the greater
good of the society as a whole. Perhaps, the revolution was about basic human
survival, by means of having adequate food, shelter and the basic supplies to live;
and political upheaval to make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The industrious response to the growth of the population was parallel to the new
population size. More people from rural areas were found moving to the cities to
find work in the new industries that were created. The major problem that led up to
the revolution was the tension that was forming between the classes. The working
class had major issues dealing with survival in poverty. There were three main
causes of the outbreak of the revolution in Germany such as: the down spiral of the
business cycle, business failure and loss of job, and the harvest failures throughout
Europe. The people sought after change but in the end they did not fully reach their
goal. ( The revolutions of 1848: in Germany, Italy, and France ) In Italy, nationalism
began to form, the conservative leaders felt threatened by the ideas of the
nationalist as well as liberalist because the ideas were very radical. The pervasive
crop failures for two consecutive seasons were part of the reason for the quick
uprising. The working class as in Germany took the brunt of the problems that the
loss of crops had on Italy, because they were those, directly linked to their ability to
buy food . ( The Revolution of 1848 ). Giuseppe Mazzini was a key supporter of
unifying the Italian state. Mazzini as well as the pope s support was required to
raise an upheaval for a revolution. The Italian nationalist needed three key
components to make their revolution happen as well as Mazzini and the pope s
support and
St. Louis Childrens Museum Research Paper
Have you ever heard of the St.Louis Children s Museum? It is awesome and plus you
will never see anything like it. It is a big climbing area made out of recycled metal
scraps, a plane on top and everything you could wish for as a 10 year old kid. I mean
when you were 10 tell me you didn t want to climb on everything you saw and you
could do exactly that at the St.Louis Children s Museum! It was heaven! So my
brother who was 6 and I went off to the races.
First we went straight for the plane. All we could see from the inside was tube like
metal rods, a metal small house and the plane! It was so far away and so high up.
So it didn t help that I was kinda afraid of heights. But when I look back down to
find my brother Justin he was already running over to climb the first of many 2ft in

There was to two ways one way was a giant slide to get down to the ground level or
up towards the plane. So we start on the path to the plane. This is the same metal

This one is surprisingly still like the same difficulty as the last one because instead of
just going in circles though you have to constantly change you body position
especially in a very small tube like environment. But by now we had made some
serious progress. They was only only one part left The Stairs. It was fulfillment we

four people. It was still really cool though you could go in the pilot seat a act like you
re flying the plane. It felt for were flying it because it was so high up and preciously
on top balancing half on half off. So it looked like you were actually flying. It was all
a ten year old could wish for! So now we went back down to go back home it was
such a fun day and we didn t even get to half the
A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings Marquez
Reader Response Essay: A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings What would you do
if you found a man with wings in your yard? Would you imprison him, turn him into
the authorities, or be interested in what changes or information this person could
bring to your community? Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez used this analogy to convey his
thoughts about his community in the short story, A Very Old Man with Enormous
Wings (Enormous). Does the fact that GarcГa MГЎrquez is a South American writer
have any influence on the developments of his story? Or could the story take place in
any country at any time? South American Roots GarcГa MГЎrquez lived in
Columbia, South America when he published Enormous in 1955. This was an
extremely violent period of civil war (Goodwin, 2006). John Goodwin pointed out
that Enormous was a social commentary piece of the times and is an analogy of the
relationship between the Columbian government and the Catholic Church (2006). I
believe that this is an excellent description of this story. The government is
represented by the Angel and the Catholic Church by Father Gonzaga. There is a
distinct communication problem between the two, the parish priest had his first

3g Wireless Communication Technology
An Essay on 3G Wireless Communication Technology
Branch: EEE
The advent of Wireless Communication
Communication has been one of the most fundamental aspects of human
development. It took the eccentric genius of Nikola Tesla to come up with the design
of the first radio transmitter in 1891. The first transatlantic radio communication in
1901 was a sign of further things to come. Communication technologies that have
been developed over the last century have largely shaped human interaction and have

The recent introduction of 3G mobile services in India have however brought in
enhanced data and voice transmission and are welcome signs in the improvement in
mobile communication technology. The essay deals in depth with 3G wireless
technology and the difference with its successors (3.5G and 4G) and predecessor (2G).
3G (3rd generation mobile telecommunications)
3G wireless technology represents the convergence of various 2G wireless
telecommunications systems into a single global system that includes both terrestrial
and satellite components. One of the most important aspects of 3G wireless
technology is its ability to unify existing cellular standards, such as CDMA, GSM,
and TDMA, under one umbrella. It improves the efficiency of data can be
transferred through the cellular phone. The data transfer rates for third generation
mobile telecommunications is up to 2 Megabits per second. Aside from this feature,
3G cellular phones also have conventional voice, fax and data services, as well as
high resolution video and multimedia services which can be used while on the move.
It also includes mobile office services such as virtual banking and online billing,
video conferencing, online entertainment and access to the Internet.
International Mobile Telecommunications 2000 (IMT 2000), better known as 3G or
3rd Generation, is a family of standards for mobile telecommunications defined by the
International Telecommunication Union, which includes GSM EDGE, UMTS, and

EFFECT ON CHILDREN
Phantom, a very popular comics superhero is adapted in various forms of media
including, television, movies and videogames. Media features a crime fighter in
peculiar costumes operating not only in the deep woods of Africa but also in the
urbanscapes wherever crime looms large. The Phantom series first came out in the
daily newspaper strips on seventeenth February, 1936, was followed by a colour
strip which came out on Sunday in May 1939. When the creator of Phantom, Lee
Falk passed away in 1999, he was followed by the Writer Tony DePaul and artists

After the publication of Phantom, the aspects of colonial / postcolonial, ethnic
/ Eurocentric discourses, which were almost forgotten, began to pop up as in those
belts of Australia where there were aboriginal settlements for whom Phantom became
an icon and thus they loved to read these comics and idolise their hero. But the truth is
that the brutalities of European settlement in Australia is kept under the pretext of
Terra Nullius2 and a peaceful process which finds its apt expression through the
Phantom comics where the white man s arrival and settlement on a non European
space and building an empire is related in a way of cross cultural interaction, intimacy
and hospitality.
In colonial and post colonial British literature the phantom or ghost is a recurrent
figure that symbolises the repressed trauma attendant to colonisation that haunts
protagonists in novels such as Defoe s Robinson Crusoe and Brontes juvenilia. The
famous comic strip The Phantom by Lee Falk naturalised this figure, making him
into a normal man who fabricated a belief in his immortality. Referred to as The
Ghost Who Walks, his headquarters was in a cave, which also contained his vast
treasure. The Phantom ruled the natives of Africa and India, who superstitiously
believed that he was a white god who had lived for centuries. In 1525, the first
Phantom swore an oath to fight the pirates who had killed his father and to battle all
evil. Each subsequent
How To Get Paid Online Surveys
Due to widespread global recession many companies are involved in cost cutting and
staff reduction. This has paved the way for self employment where people find
various means to work from home conveniently. Many people take up online jobs and
get well paid. The only investment required is a computer with Internetconnection.
People get paid to take online surveys. This is also a type of home business. There
are many online survey companies where people can register. After the registration
process they will be introduced to a product manufacturing company. As soon as they
opt for the products they will get the products home delivered at their convenience.
They have to use these products and provide their feedback about the products to the

Women In The Medieval Ages
After re reading chapters nine through thirteen, I came to the conclusion that women
made very few significant contributions to culture in the Medieval West. This is not
the case for lack of trying, though. It was tough for women to do much contributing in
this time period.Men of the Medieval ages already had a hostile attitude toward
womankind, intensified perhaps by women s increasing participation in some of the
commercial activities traditionally dominated by men (274). Thomas Aquinas went as
far as to question whether womanshould have been made in the first place (296).
You hear about many famous men of the Medieval times like Charlemagne, Lancelot,
and Dante, but rarely hear about the works of women. One of the reasons for this
Symbols In Dead Poet s Society
Symbols can mean powerful things in real life and in movies. The same symbol
can mean a different things at different times through a movie. I just watched Dead
poet s society and it is about a group of boys in a school that was very strict. They
got a new teacher named Mr. Keating, he influenced the boys to be themselves and
made them do weird things that made them express themselves. There are multiple
symbols in the movie. I liked it when they stood on the desk, so that is what I did for
my symbol. When they stood on Mr. Keating s desk and when they stood on their
own desk were similar but they were also different. When the boys stood on Mr.
Keating s desk the first time it was a way to interest them and to get them out of the
boring classroom; the second time they stood on their own desk the boys showed that
they learned something from Mr. Keating and they liked him as a teacher.... Show

sure if they should go on the desk or not but they did. Mr. Keating taught them to
look at the world in a different perspective. After they went to Mr. Keating s class
and stood on the desks they thought differently. They started doing more unique
things like going to the cave for the dead poet s society and following their dreams
like Neal and acting. They weren t in the boring book state of mind. The boys were
excited to go to Mr. Keating s class and enjoyed being in his class. The boys standing
on the desk was important to the plot of the movie because it routed them to thinking
differently and changed what they
The Beginning of Our Annual Beach Journeys
I can remember the day clearly as if it were yesterday. The sand covering my feet
was shining brightly with resilient sunlight. The tides crashed gently against the
sand as if caressing it. The wind carried on casually; at times I felt no breeze at all,
as if the wind itself stopped for a second to enjoy the relaxing scene. This day
marked the beginning of our annual familybeach journeys. I was 9 years old and
was overly obsessed with an old raggedy purse made out of old pillow cases and
bed sheets. My mom was a seamstress and I considered myself very lucky growing
up being able to watch her work. Months prior to our summer trip, for Christmas, I
received a pink kid s mini sewing machine. I could feel the enthusiasm bubbling
inside me as I opened my gift. The patchwork on the purse was a display of
creativity on my first fashion accessory. Psychologically, this item brought to me
so much comfort just like my baby brother who was emotionally attached to his
smelly, old blankey. It was the summer of 1996, when we arrived at Malaquite
Beach in Corpus Christi, Texas. There were many other families sitting at the
beach sharing the warm summer day. We began to set up our area by creating
some shade with a wide, heavy beach canopy. My family came prepared with large
coolers full of cold waters and sodas. My sisters and I began applying plenty of
sunblock, meanwhile, my dad and brother in laws fired up the pit. There is nothing
more enjoyable than playing with Frisbee s at the
The Theme Of Water In Arthur Golden s Memoirs Of A
Geisha
From 1920 to present times, geisha numbers in Japan have dwindled from 80,000
to 150. In the words of Memoirs of a Geisha s film adaptation, [Geisha] sell [their]
skills, not [their] bodies...The very word geisha means artist and to be a geisha is
to be judge as a moving work of art. The differences and similarities between Arthur
Golden s Memoirs of a Geishaand its movie adaptation certainly raise the book in
preference over the movie. Chiyo/Sayuri s childhood background, Chiyo s encounters
with the Chairman, and the symbolism of water are all significant details in the story
of Sayuri Nitta.
Chiyo Sakamoto is born in Yoroido, Japan. With her mother sick and her father
growing older every day, she believes Mr. Tanaka is her liberator. Little does she
know that, at the tender age of nine, she is to be ripped from her poor, simple life
and sold to an okiya in Gion. And at the age of fourteen, Chiyo becomes a geisha and

Mameha, Sayuri s big sister, says Waiting patiently doesn t suit you. I can see you
have a great deal of water in your personality. Water never waits. It changes shape
and flows around things, and finds the secret paths no one else has thought about
(movie). The water in Chiyo/Sayuri s personality made her a threat to Hatsumomo,
the head geisha in the Nitta okiya before Chiyo arrived. When Hatsumomo and
Sayuri have their final quarrel, Hatsumomo sets the okiya ablaze, enforcing the
impression that Hatsumomo s personality is linked to fire, making her and Chiyo
/Sayuri natural enemies. Mameha describes water as one of the most versatile
elements, Water is powerful. It can wash away earth, put out fire, and even destroy
iron (movie). Without the water element showing itself in her eyes, it is probable
that she would not have become a geisha or survived very long in
The Invention Of The Automobile Industry
The automobile industry is said to have its beginnings dating to the 19th century.
Gottieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, of Germany, fitted their engine into a
stagecoach in 1886 (Kindersley, 2011, 10). They were both successful at creating
the first four wheeled, gas engine vehicle. It reached a top speed of ten miles per
hour. Each engine was still being fitted into stagecoaches (Kindersley, 2011, 10). The
industrial revolution introduced a wide array of new ideas for the automobile. The
ideas ranged from air cooled engines, single cylinder engines, steam powered
engines, electric cars, to a vehicle with a sliding gear transmission (Kindersley, 11,
2011). Other ideas included overhead cam engines, and the introduction of the
gearbox.
One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the industry this became only the beginning. Many other innovative designs to
the engine that were introduced during this time are still in use today. In 1926, both
Daimler Mercedes merged to become Daimler Benz AG. This was as a result of the
recession during that time which forced many companies into joint ventures. Their
cars were marketed under the name of Mercedes Benz.
During the 1930 s, the world was gripped by the second World War which saw the
industry, especially in Germany, being used to support ongoing war efforts again.
The cars of Mercedes were adored by the Third Reich and the cars were being used by
motor racing as well (Kindersley,15, 2011). This enabled the company more
exposure later on. The 1930 s were hailed as a time of great challenge especially with
the onslaught of The Great Depression.
The world was met by the introduction of the station wagon and pick up truck in the
1940 s. The station wagon was a reintroduced Land Rover, . . . the Land Rover s
wider appeal led to demand for a more civilized vehicle the 7 seater Station Wagon
fulfilled that brief, (Kindersley,113, 2011). The station wagon was designed as a
working vehicle and that could carry a lot of people. The pick up truck was unveiled
by The Ford Motor Company and named The F Series. This became most successful

Trauma patients transferred from hospitals in Tennessee from 2012 to 2014 were
the focus of a retrospective review and analysis of how the RTTDC course affect
time to transfer of trauma patients. The review conducted on 253 patients that were
transferred from non trauma hospitals to Vanderbilt University Medical Center
(VUMC), were segregated into two groups. The first group contained six non
trauma hospitals, which were similar in size, patient volume and geographical
distance from VUMC (Dennis et al., 2015). The second group consisted of the
same model makeup however these hospitals had underwent the RTTDC training.
Results showed that in the RTTDC group a 61 minute (p = 002) overall reduction
in referring hospital length of say was noted in comparison with the control group
which showed a slight increase in ED LOS during the same time period (pre: 153
minutes vs. post: 184.5 minutes, p = 0.31) (Dennis et al., 2015). This study validates
that the RTTDC course has a direct association with decreasing the ED LOS of
trauma patients who require transfer to tertiary centers for definitive care. Although
RTTDC shows direct effects on the ED LOS, further research and analysis should be
considered on decreasing unnecessary radiological imaging prior to transfer, which
can further delay the transfer of trauma patients.

The Roy Adaption Model of
Piety In Confucianism
In truth, filial piety, humaneness and reciprocity are three main ideas, which plays
very important role in Confucianism. To begin with, Confucius is a famous
philosopher who gave advices to the rulers and individuals on their behaviors. Worth
to mention, Confucius s teachings were complied in the Analects after his death.
Moreover, Filial Piety means respect for one s parents, and most people is familiar
with that idea in Confucianism. From what I learnt in China, filial is the starting point
of virtue. In addition, I think filial piety is necessary in a family, and the children
should show the respect to their parents. Another importance virtue is reciprocity,
which means one should reply what another person has provided. Furthermore,
reciprocity

climbed the ranks to achieve her goals and how she came into discovering her true
passion of astronomy. By describing the events that made this courageous woman, we
can see clearly how she set an example for her gender in the Nineteenth century.
Women have always been at the forefronts of science, even though they have not
always taken the credit for it. One of the defining marks of humanity is our ability to

She had memorized the sky and was sure of her observation. (Gromley p.55) This
was the great discovery that her constant vigilance brought into the open, as she saw a
comet of unknown origin. It occurred to her that this might be a comet. Maria
recorded the presumed comet s coordinates. The next night the star moved again.
This time she was sure it was a comet. Her father wrote to Professor William Bond
at the Harvard University observatory about Maria s discovery. Professor Bond
submitted Maria s name to the king of Denmark who had offered a gold medal to a
person who discovers a comet seen only through a telescope. Another person,
Father Francesco de Vico of Rome discovered the same comet two days later
(Mitchell p.105) than Maria Mitchell and the decision was made to award him the
prize before news of Maria s earlier discovery arrived in Europe. After some
negotiations Maria Mitchell was awarded the medal for this discovery a year later.
The comet was named Miss Mitchell s Comet.
She continued working as a librarian, but now she was also receiving letters of
congratulations from scientists and tourists were coming to take a look at the woman

1850. In 1849 she was offered a job by the U.S. Nautical Almanac Office as a

Summary Of Coyote And The Enemy Aliens
Japanese Canadians Aliens?
Coyote and the Enemy Aliens is a satirical commentary that effectively expounds on
the intense objectification and dehumanization of Japanese Canadians during the
colonial Canadian era. By depicting the grotesque living conditions, the Japanese
were subjected to, King is able to critique the racist perspectives of the Canadian
society. King condemns the actions of colonial white men, depicting them as
creatures engulfed in moral blindness that strive to fabricate an ideal white world.
Moreover, King vividly portrays the idea of social dynamics, expounding on the
helplessness of Citizens against dominant political powers. King also introduces an
idea of conformity, showcasing how citizens gradually adapt to ... Show more content

The climax of the prose illustrates the disturbing elements of socio political history in
Canada. The political entities stand in the near vicinity of the vehicle, singing O
Canada. and waving flags . Through the depiction of this disturbing image, King
criticizes racist political leaders in Canada that justified their crimes cemented on
ideals of nationalism reflecting on the moral conscience of colonial Canada. The
insensitivity of white men is expounded in their embarkment of engineering the
atomic bomb. In the near conclusion of the story, Coyote travels to Los Alamos to
make the world safe for freedom . The white men euphemistically portray the
Manhattan project (in Los Alamos) as a catalyst of peace and prosperity. However,
this notion is ironic as this project engineered a mass destruction weapon leading
innocent people being evaporated in a second. King inputs this powerful idea to
expose the Hippocratic nature of white men in that era, who patronized themselves as
saints, but in reality, were responsible for the construction of the most dangerous
military weapon.
The intensely grotesque perspectives and actions committed by coyote are a striking
testament to how the general population was able to be manipulated based on
ludicrous perceptions of Japanese propagated in Canada. King employs the dim
witted character of Coyote to satirize racist Canadian politicians and comment on
their prejudiced notions
Somali Police Mediation Policy
The Policy My proposed policy includes the following:
The appointment of Civil Rights Officers recruited from the Somali community,
within the Lewiston Police Department.
The establishment of a permanent state funded Office of Multicultural Affairs within
the Lewiston City Hall.
These reforms will assist the local government in taking steps to create a dialogue
that will ease racial tensions and help ensure Somalis and other refugees/immigrants
are protected from hate crimes. It s important to act proactively in dealing with the
rise of hate crimes in Lewiston, because if there is no response to minor racial

Governor Paul LePage, has not only perpetuated these myths, but in many instances
he created them. He once baselessly claimed that Somali s were guilty of bringing
diseases and drugs into Maine and he insists that Somalis are taking welfare away

(Galofaro). President Trump reinforced LePage s xenophobic narrative while
campaigning in Portland, claiming that the Somali community was responsible for
the Lewiston s crime wave . The Lewiston police chief later clarified that crime had
actually decreased since the Somali s arrival (Galofaro). But Maine citizens should
have a vested interest in protecting these vulnerable immigrant communities. It is
time that we stand by our immigrant communities, and my proposed policy does
exactly that. The employment of Civil Rights Officers will shows Somalis that our
community cares about their safety. But more importantly, it shows that we are
willing to incorporate them in our justice system in order to ensure greater
cooperation in crime prevention. The creation of Lewiston s Office of Multicultural

native Maine citizens. The department can facilitate unified community involvement,

Violence Is A Straightforward Premise
Violence has a straightforward premise. We have a tendency to focus on what
ЕЅiЕѕek calls subjective violence: demonstrations of strike, murder, dread and war.
However, there are two different assortments of target brutality: the symbolic violence
found in speech , and systemic violence, the often catastrophic consequences of the
functioning of our economic and political systems . ЕЅiЕѕek then embarks to break
down these types of objective violence, however he winds up concentrating totally on
the systemic assortment.
What never ceases to surprise is how the very same people who commit terrible acts
of violence towards their enemies can display warm humanity and gentle care for the
members of their own group. The display of contradictions is not in the least
pointless: all the time it drives ЕЅiЕѕek to turn up real gems. His analysis of the
suspect motivations of what he calls liberal communists the informed, liberal
working classes is a good example of parody: Liberal communists also love the
student protests which shattered France in May 1968: what an explosion of youthful
energy and creativity! However a main idea that stood out to me the most, was his
idea on tolerance: My duty to be tolerant towards the Other effectively means that I
should not get too close him, intrude on his space. In other words, I should respect
his intolerance of my over proximity.
Philosopher Karl Popper further expands on ЕЅiЕѕek s idea of Tolerance, by labeling
it the Paradox of

Persuasive Essay On North Korea
North Korea is one of the last family run dictatorships in the world. They have been
determined to become a Powerful and prosperous nation (Kiener). North Korea is
so set on being extremely powerful and building nuclear weapons but has not been
able to feed their people for years. Missile testing has become more and more
common from North Koreain the last year and has been striking fear into all nations
around them. North Korea has launched missiles over Japan and most recently
Hawaii; they have also conducted six underground nuclear weapontests. Not only
has North Korea become a threat to South Korea but also to the rest of the world.
People all over the world are asking how can we protect ourselves and what actions
will be made to stop North Korea from creating havoc throughout the world. Threats

Pulmonary Valve Syndrome Research Paper
Pulmonary Valve Stenosis, Pediatric
Pulmonary valve stenosis is a heart problem some children are born with
(congenital heart defect). This defect is a stiffening or narrowing (stenosis) of a one
way valve in the heart. It is the valve that allows blood to flow from the pumping
chamber on the right side of the heart (right ventricle) into the blood vessel that
carries blood to the lungs. If not enough blood is flowing through the valve, not
enough oxygen will get into your child s blood. The child s heart will also be forced
to work harder.
Pulmonary valve stenosis develops during the first 8 weeks as a child is growing
inside the womb. It sometimes develops with other types of heart abnormalities.
Pulmonary valve stenosis can range from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effects Of Socioeconomics On Children s Children
Imagine a boy that has been teased mercilessly by his peers throughout his schooling
because of his clothes and his free and reduced lunch status. He is constantly under
pressure from peers to have the newest and niftiest gadgets; nevertheless, his mother
cannot afford to provide food and permanent housing, much less, these extra luxuries.
Therefore, he has to comprise with what his mother can afford. She tries to provide
for her children and wants to offer them the world. Nonetheless, due to her economic
situation, she cannot provide her for children adequately; they are forced to ask for
aid from the government, close family, and friends. This situation brings light to the
turmoil that socioeconomics brings upon children and that they need to endure to
survive in this society. When it comes to socioeconomics, children are the utmost
affected. Socioeconomics has long term effects, prevalently distresses children in
school and in development. Through my friend s experience that he has shared with
me, it has allowed me to notice the harrowing effects that socioeconomics has on
children. First, one may ask exactly what is socioeconomic statusand other terms that
surround this issue? Socioeconomic status can be defined as an overall ranking of a
person s position in society based on income, education, and occupation (Benokraitis,
2014, p. 142). Socioeconomic status can further be simplified in saying it is a
classification system that is forced upon all people within a
A Study On Admiralty Law And Maritime Law
UNIT 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1 ABOUT SUBJECT: Admiralty Law or Maritime
Law is a distinct body of domestic laws that supervene upon the maritime activities
(like marine commerce, sailors related aspects, marine navigation, marine shipping,
marine salvaging and transportation of passengers and goods by sea). It has also
been governing questions and offenses related to maritime activities and other sub
heads. Broadly, it is a more of a private international law related subject that governs
the relationship between private entities that operate vessels on the oceans. Keeping
in view the distinction with respect to the subject matters of Public and Private
international law, it is mandatory to specify the distinction between The Law of the
Seas and The admiralty law and the chapters succeeding will be a great source to
enlighten the same. 1.2 HISTORY: The series that started with The Law of Prize as
the governing Customary Law. Then came the the cannon shot rule that was
developed by the Dutch Jurist (Cornelius van Bynkershoek), which talked about the

nation s coastlines that was usually 3 nautical miles (i.e., 5.6 km or Three mile), it
was so that all waters beyond national boundaries were considered international

of staying calm is by learning stalling tactics, taking time to collect your thoughts,

The Problem With Public Shaming
Most people believe that public humiliation is cruel and unusual punishment, yet it
seems to be the only thing working. Doxxing is when you take someone s personal
info info such as social security numbers or address and post it for the world to
see. Some people still see doxxing as ineffective and just flat out wrong as
discussed Cole Stryker in The Problem with Public Shaming written in The Nation,
Stryker notions that public shaming doesn t work and that people need to talk
about its effects on people all around the world. Stryker discusses how doxxing and

The only thing Stryker and I can agree is the old way of public shaming doesn t
work. In this day and age, you can t do things like that anymore, as it simply doesn
t work. as Stryker says scarlet letters stopped working because with planes, trains
and automobiles, if people were being shamed they just left and moved somewhere
else. So we turn instead to public humiliation, an organic form of social control
that never went away completely, (Stryker 2.) The Scarlet Letter written by
Nathaniel Hawthorne depicts a woman pregnant out of wedlock and she gets
branded with a red A for adultery, a very clear case of public shaming and
humiliation. Like Stryker discuss scarlet letters just don t work anymore. If that
happened today (even though it wouldn t) she would just leave town and live
somewhere else. So I do agree with Stryker that things like that are a way of the
past. Doxxing is the new world of public shaming and it s working. As seen in this
story from the Charlottesville riots in august. Logan Smith, the man behind the
Twitter account @YesYoureRacist, began posting photos of alleged white
supremacist protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia and gained over 300,000 followers

Essay on Fishing – The Best Hobby
Fishing The Best Hobby
Work just the word is enough to make me nauseous sometimes. Look at the
definition of the word: work effort exerted to do or make something; labor, toil. It
isn t exactly the definition of fun. Okay, granted work isn t always awful. There are
plenty of people who like their jobs, and work can even be fun. But for the most
part, we all know that we d rather be doing just about anything other than working.
Luckily for us, we don t work all the time. No, we sleep, eat, drink, and have fun.
How do we have fun? Well, some of us might get our pleasure from eating or
drinking, sometimes a little too often. Others of us might have fun spending time
with our companions or family, but usually when we think of having ... Show more

That, you will find, is cheaper than just about any hobby there is.
Let s talk about what you actually have to spend to fish. In Pennsylvania, if you re
over sixteen you have to buy a fishing license to fish. These cost you $22.50 if you re
going to fish for trout, and $17.00 if you re not. We ll split the difference and say that
a license costs twenty bucks. Next is a rod and reel. Go to any sporting goods store,
and you ll be able to find a quality rod and reel combination for about twenty five
dollars. Fishing line and a few lures will probably run you about ten bucks, and that
s it. You are ready to fish. You ve spent what? A grand total of $55.00 to fish. Take
into account that if you re careful, you ll get multiple years of use out of your rod,
reel, and lures, and you might end up spending as little as $30.00 a year fishing.
Not too bad. Let s compare this to, say, hunting, another popular hobby in
Pennsylvania. Obviously, you re going to need a gun to hunt. A quality rifle is
going to run you at least three hundred dollars. Just like fishing, you need a rifle to
hunt. I m not a hunter myself, but I m pretty sure a deer license is about thirty
dollars, and that only allows you to hunt one species, whereas a fishing license
allows you to fish for all species. In addition to your gun and license, you re going to
have to buy your hunter orange clothing, and ammunition for your gun. This will cost
at least fifty dollars. Three hundred and eight
Electrical Hazards Are Not For Electric Shock
Electrical hazards are not limited to electric shock; those who are not working with
or using electricity may be also at risk. Faulty electrical appliance or equipment and
poor electrical installations may lead to fire which could potentially injure people
around it. According to National Fire Protection Association, approximately 2600
people are killed in home fires each year, most are caused by electrical faults [4].
Also, electricityor even static could be the source of ignition in a potentially
flammable or explosive atmosphere. For example, in a garage where contain
vaporized gasoline due to a tipped over gas tank, the static generated between the
car door and key can cause explosion if the ratio between air vaporized gasoline is
within the explosive range.
Electromagnetic interference is disturbance which can affect an electrical circuit
with electromagnetic induction or radiation [6]. It s a serious hazard especially for
airlines. The modern aircrafts are heavily dependent on navigation and other vital
electronic systems. Electromagnetic interference may cause these systems to
malfunction and lead to crash. A researcher from Harvard University, Elaine
Scarry stated that Electromagnetic interference in the airspace east of JFK airport
may have caused three air crashes in 20th century; the crash of TWA Flight 800
in1996, the crash of Swissair Flight 111 in 1998, and crash of Egypt Air Flight 990 in
1999 [7]. The proof was that both flight took off from the same
The Social Welfare And Import Trade Of Britain And China
Title analysis: This essay will compare the social welfare and import export trade of
Britain and China, and will evaluate the causes and consequences of the differences.
In recent years, the import and export trade has been one of the factors of the rapid
economic development of many countries, by increasing the production inputs,
labour inputs and technology investment, and promoting economic development. At
the same time, with the continuous development of economy, countries ensure the
harmonious development of society by continuously improving the country s social
welfare system, solving the problem of living in certain groups. China and UK are
import and export trading powers, and in terms of social welfare there is a huge
difference, Britain has a relatively sound social welfare system, however, because
of China s large population and it is in the development stage of the social welfare
system has many shortcomings. This essay will compare the Social Welfare and the
import and export trade between China and the Britain. Social welfare is divided
into its definition, children welfare and the elderly welfare. Import and export trade
will compare the UK s and China s comparing the products.
Britain is known for its welfare state. The word first appeared during World War II.
According to Rodney (1999), welfare State through politics and administration
modifies market forces in at least three directions. First, by ensuring individuals and
families a minimum income
Flood Case Study
Other Factors Contributing to the Flood
The Arun and Sunkosi sub catchments of the upper catchment area contribute to the
intensity of floods, with the former possessing highest surface runoff potential
(Wakode et al., 2013). As the Kosi River exits at the base of the mountain, the ability
to transport sediment is dampened, leading to deposition of sediment and aggradation
(Kale, 2008). High silt content in the river was due to soil erosion and landslides and
the presence of narrow gorges (Wakode et al., 2013). The construction of the eastern
embankment increased aggradation on the western side of the river, making the
embankment vulnerable to breaching (Sinha, 2009). Furthermore, Chakraborty et al

They are more deadly than ordinary floods because they intensify the moment the
dams and embankments experience failures and breaches respectively (Singh and
Kumar (2013); Singh and Kumar, 2017). The high discharge of water from rivers
can cause extensive damage to life and property (Singh Kumar, 2017), both of which
include livestock, croplands and public utilities (i.e. electricity, telephones, and roads)
(Singh Kumar, 2013). For instance, a lot of agricultural land was rendered
uncultivable because the flood had transported and deposited excess sediment
(Chakraborty et al., 2010).
Singh and Kumar (2013) noted that millions of people in India are affected by
flash floods yearly. In this regard, it can be deduced that countless people were
displaced, many villages were flooded, and Bihar s infrastructure was compromised
(Kale, 2008). While there have been no reliable estimate of deaths and loss of
properties for the flood event, it can be said that more than 30 million people were
affected (Sinha, 2009). The 2008 flood was an unprecedented human misery due to
increased population density (Kale, 2008).
Short term Solution Set in Motion
Sometime in January 2009, the breach in the eastern embankment was repaired
(Sinha et al., 2013). On the 26th of January 2009, the Kosi River returned to its
former stream channel, with the river being once again confined (Sinha, 2009), as if
the flood had never
An International Terrorist Organization ( Al Qaeda
Investigate an international terrorist organization (al Qaeda) Al Qaeda is an
international terrorist organization that was founded in the late 1980 s by Osama bin
Ladin and Abdullah Azzam. The organization is still currently active today, even
though it has become largely decentralized with the deaths of many of its leaders
following their attack on the twin towers in New York City, on September 11th,
2001. Al Qaedawas founded towards the end of the Soviet Union s attempted
expansion into Afghanistan. The group was initially a secret society did not even
say their name, because a Dr. Hunter told us in class if an organization becomes
well known government will seek them out an destroy them before they have a
chance to do something. Before the events of September 11th, 2001 Al Qaeda had
launched smaller, of which some were successful, terrorist attacks against the
United States. Their first attempt to attack was a failure as the soldiers that were
the target stayed at another hotel. They set of a bomb at the Movenpick Hotel in
Yemen, but succeeded in only killing civilians. Al Qaeda did consider this attack
successful internally, even though the outside world did not. Al Qaeda did attempt
to assassinate United States president Bill Clinton while he was in Manila in 1996.
The plan was discovered and a bomb was found under a bridge that Clinton s
motorcade was supposed to go over. In 1998 al Qaeda launched simultaneous attacks
on two United States embassies in east Africa.

Biology and Chemistry Education is now the order of the day. Many people aim at
continuing their education after high school. After high school, some students enter
directly to college whiles others go to universities to read different course of their
choice. Among these courses, some prefer to read mathematics, literature, science,
economics, and others. Every student has his / her own career path in life. Some aim
at becoming Biologist whiles others aim to be a Chemist. This is basically for
students who have interest in the science field determines which areas they want to

Pro Life Movement Of Abortion
Pro Life Movement Twenty to thirty million legal abortions occur worldwide each
year. The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her
own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing
between (Mother Teresa). Before 1973, individual states were allowed to decide
whether abortion would be legal within their borders. The topic of abortion and
whether or not it is right or wrong is a constant debate in todays society. Everyone
has their own beliefs on the matter, but it should not be a question of what we
believe, it should be the question of whether or not this procedure should be
considered an illegal act. There are hundreds of woman everyday that have an
abortion, and hundreds of innocent lives being slaughtered legally. The fact that
this procedure is legal in the U.S, and that people actually see it as their choice or
right to abort the baby, disturbs me immensely. Preforming the procedure of an
abortion should be illegal in all states because abortion is murder, the fetuses can
feel the pain during the procedure, and abortion can lead to psychological damage.
The first reason that should make an abortion procedure illegal is that it is murder,
plain and simple. I discovered I was pregnant with my first child. Twelve weeks
later we had our first ultrasound, and I was in awe of how much was happening
inside my body even though I could not feel it. I watched my little fetus somersault

Due Diligence in Business Regulation
Due Diligence in Business Regulation
Introduction
Due diligence is an important concept in the realm of business regulation. The law
seeks to govern various aspects of business activity including product quality and
safety, quality of business information and employee safety. In many of such
instances, due diligence may be the single most important as well as the most
challenging defence available to employers against any litigation brought against
them by an employee or any other party.
This paper discusses the concept of due diligence in the regulation of workplace
safety and health by law. The discussion is based on the specific regulation pertaining
to industrial processes. Recent news reports illustrating the need for due diligence are
highlighted. Major challenges encountered by employers in claiming due diligence in
workplace safety and health regulation litigation form the essence of this essay.

The Impact Of Technology On Technology Acceptance
Introduction
A range of studies has been conducted on instructional technology. Many findings
show that technology has a significant contribution to the improvement in teachers
competency and instruction effectiveness. However, not all applications of
technology in the classroom lead to the desired goals. There are numerous constrains
that may contribute to this. The level of technology acceptance is one of these
factors. However, what influences technology acceptance among teachers? The
article discusses a study conducted to determine the influence of gender on technology
acceptance. This article is important to my research topic. Many research studies
conducted in the past have focused on the impact of technology on the effectiveness
of teaching or student learning. Few articles have focused on factors affecting
technological adoption in learning facilities. These studies have found an
improvement in learners scores on tests associated with content covered in
technology assisted instructional packages. While the selection of suitable
technology is the initial step, employment of the technology by teachers determines
its effectiveness. The effectiveness factor of instructional technologies is often
ignored. The reasoning is that teachers may be willing to utilize technology but may
be influenced by other factors besides availability of necessary technology. The
problem calls for research as educators need to proactively take such factors into
consideration when

Marketing Analysis Using BCG and Ansoff Matrices
Introduction
BCG matrix is also referred to as growth share matrix, Boston matrix, portfolio
diagram or product portfolio. BCG matrix is a graph created by Bruce D. Henderson
to help corporations analyze their business units and their product lines being created
for Boston Consultation Group. The matrix help in the group allocation of resources
and is also used as an analytical tool in the product management, brand marketing,
strategic management and the portfolio analysis. Market performance analysis by
the firms using its principles has called for the matrix usefulness into the question.
For the use of the matrix, one plots the scatter graph so as to rank the business units
and products on the market share basis and the growth rates. The matrix uses several
tools in the analysis process, and these are cash cows, dogs, question marks and stars.
In the cash cow tool, a company is analyzed to have a big market share in a slow
growing industry. The unit typically generates excess cash in the amount needed for
the business maintenance. They are regarded as boring and staid in a mature market
yet many corporations always value owning them because of their cash generations.
They are milked continuously with the least investment available since the
investment is the waste in the low industrial growth. The dogs are more charitably
referred to as pets.
The Issue Of Personal Identity
The issue of personal identity is one of the most broadly treated problems in the
philosophical community. Who are we? Where do we come from? What makes us
human? are some of the inquiries that most people face during their lives.
Consequently, because for the majority of people it is almost natural to ask
themselves about the meaning of their own identity, it is understandable that most
major philosophical figures have presented their own theories regarding this question
(Olson). In the same manner, it is reasonable that there exist certain conflict between
these ideas. One of the most negatively received theories of personal identity came
from the mindof John Locke. Essentially, his theory equaled identity with a persons...

assure a person continuous existence. It differs from the question of persistence by
asking not how a person does remain existing over time? but rather how can people
confirm this fact?
4.Population. It asks how many persons (as lawyers and philosophers prefer to say)
are on earth in this single moment? The answer to this question is obviously
determined according to the definition of person used.
5.Persistence, which is maybe the most debated problem regarding personal
identity. It is often misunderstood with how a person does remain the same over
time? However, the persistence question does not refer to the change that a person
can undergo before becoming a different person, but if they as a person or another
would continue to exist through time. To say that someone would no longer be the
same person is to say that she would still exist, but would have changed in some
important way. The persistence question asks what it takes for something which is a
person at one time, to exist at another time as well (Olson).

Marine Pollution Essay
The world population is living, working, vacationing, increasingly conglomerating
along the coasts, and standing on the front row of the greatest, most
unprecedented, plastic waste tide ever faced. So, this is an opportunity to learn
about the ocean from a big experiment that has already been put in place by
humans. Over the last several decades, human activities have so altered the basic
chemistry of the seas that they are now experiencing evolution in reverse: a return
to the barren primeval waters of hundreds of millions of years ago. Marine
pollution is basically the consequences of oceanic destruction which means when
hazardous materials and chemicals enter the ocean or a big body of water and
spread to rate of exponential growth and decrease the lifespan of nearby marine
animals. Marine pollution is not just given in the word itself, but it holds a deeper
understanding than most know. Plastic bottles and cigarette buds are visible to the
eye and can be removed by just picking it up, but there is another monstrosity
roaming the oceans called the plastisphere. Which is still a form of marine
pollution that very few understand. The plastisphere are tiny, microscopic plastic
pieces that make their way into the ocean and give microbial (relating to or
characteristic of a microorganism) squatters a place to take up residence. It is still in
question whether or not the impact is good or bad and which outweighs the other.
Even small particles like this can have a
How Does Height Affect Lung Capacity
Introduction:
Height is
Aim:
The aim of the experiment is to find out how or if height affects lung capacity
Variables:
DEPENDENT VARIABLE:
пѓ Size of balloon when filled with air
INDEPENDENT:
пѓ The test subjects height
CONTROLLED:
пѓ Elasticity of the balloon
пѓ Starting size of balloon
пѓ Amount of air breathed in (maximum capacity)
пѓ Gender of test subjects
Hypothesis:
It is hypothesized that the different heights of the test subjects will affect their lung
capacity. This is because taller people have larger lungs, therefore allowing their
oxygen intake to be greater than those of shorter people.
Materials:
пѓ Same size and shape balloons made of the same materials
пѓ 6 different size people
пѓ 2, 1 metre rulers
пѓ Human capable weight scales
Method:
1.The equipment was set up as shown in Diagram 1.
2.Breathe in to your maximum lung capacity (will be monitored)
3.Breathe out to let all air out into the balloon
4.Measure balloon height
5.Record data in a table
6.Repeat steps 1 5 thrice to allow maximum accuracy
7.Calculate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The continuous pattern evident throughout the experiment is the increasing height
correlated to an increase in lung capacity. Another relationship between the results is
that, out of the three tests, the second test was smaller than the first while the third
test was larger than the second set of data. The results demonstrate that height affects
vital capacity (the greatest volume of air that can be expelled from the lungs after
maximum inhalation) (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/vital+capacity). Lung
volume increases in taller individuals due to increased thorax and lung size. This is
because when someone is taller, the surface area of the lungs is enlarged, which
allows the volume of the lung to grow, since there is more space in the person s body
Holmes And Watson s Dichotomy
A common trope seen in the detective genre is the dichotomy between the detective
and their companion. While the detective normally serves as the primary character
and voice of reason within the novel, their companion acts as a contrasting character
and is often the story s narrator. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s A Study in Scarlet
redefines
the necessity of a companion for the detective. In analyzing the relationship between
Sherlock Holmesand Dr. John Watson, it is evident that their relationship is mutually
beneficial. Although Doyle highlights the differences between the two men, he also
demonstrates the important role that each man plays in the other s life. Sherlock
serves as a companion and motivation for John, while he assists Sherlock... Show

The novel begins with a description of his near death experiences and subsequent
arrival in London. Lonely and weakened from his time in Afghanistan, Watson is
eager for companionship and finds it in Sherlock Holmes. Living with Holmes
provides him with something to focus on, as he tells the reader this man stimulated
my curiosity, and how often I endeavored to break through the reticence which he
showed on all that concerned himself, (Doyle 16). His friendship with Sherlock not
only gives him companionship, but it also provides a sense of purpose when he
invites Watson to the crime scene of Enoch Drebber.
Watson and Sherlock s reaction to the murder are drastically different. While
Sherlock is described as hearing the news the crime scene calmly, Watson cries Why
this is terrible, (26). While Sherlock looks at the crime objectively, Watson provides
the emotional response. Watson s emotional response drives him to help Sherlock
with the case, as he realizes that justice must be done, and that the depravity of the
victim was no condonement in the eyes of the law, (43). John s emotional response
balances out Sherlock s calm, business like approach and together, the two of them
create a balanced
Figurative Language In The Pigman By Paul Zindel
Mark Twain once said, A man s character may be learned from the adjectives which
he habitually uses in conversation. Figurative language and descriptive adjectives can
help show what the character is feeling, acting, and explain what they look like. In
the book The Pigman by Paul Zindel he uses figurative languageand descriptive
adjectives to develop the characters, setting, and mood.
In The Pigman the author uses figurative language to develop the mood and
emphasize how the characters look and act. First, he uses a simile saying, Norton
has eyes like a mean mouse This can emphasize how he had a dead stare and cold
eyes. He is frustrated and anxious at the same time, and partially disturbed.
Secondly, he uses another simile when he says, She s got very interesting green eyes
that scan the room like nervous radar. This can also be a descriptive ... Show more

First he writes, He s six feet tall already, with sort of longish brown hair and blue
eyes. From this quote in the book the reader can see and visualise how he actually
looked and his physical features. Secondly he uses another quote, He was in his
late fifties and was pretty big, and he had a bit of a beer stomach. This is when they
first meet Mr. Pignati. As the reader sees this they can match his features to his
actions and better understand his character. Last, to better understand the teacher he
uses a quote saying, Anyway, Miss Reillen is a little on the fat side, but that doesn t
stop her from wearing these tight skirts which make her nylon stockings rub together
when she walks so she makes this scraaaaaaatchy sound. This quote emphasizes the
character. Without this in the story the reader wouldn t be able to visualize the
character to better understand her and see how everyone in the class sees her.
Descriptive adjectives are a huge part in the making of the story and help the reader
better understand the
The Significance of Tickle in Troilus and Cressida Essay
William Shakespeare s Troilus and Cressida is a play filled with marked variations
of tone. The language ranges across the gamut from satirical to anticlimactic to
dignified to tragic. This explains, to some extent, the level of difficulty that
commentators have had in classifying the work. A close reading of the word choice
and sense of tone in the play contributes a great deal to a better understanding of its
meaning. Analysis of particular word choice should be, in fact, a very important
consideration when attempting to understand Shakespeare s works. He is known to
often make use of neologisms and his style thus reveals a familiarity with the intricate
emotional weight that diction brings to literature. Whenever relatively obscure...

20): Now expectation, tickling skittish spirits, On one and other side, Trojan and
Greek, Sets all on hazard (Pro. 20 23) Expectation tickling skittish spirits
eloquently captures the feeling of the armies during the time of truce that is the
setting of the play as well as those of the lovers who lend their name to the title. At
the same time, the phrase provides a marked contrast to the tone of all the lines
that precede it. This showcases the contrastive power that tone can bring to a piece
of literature and helps to set the mood of the play, which is neither a comedy nor a
tragedy but maintains interwoven elements of both. Expectation doesn t rouse or
provoke the men s spirits, words that might be expected with the harsh tone of the
prologue, it merely tickles them. In addition, the phrase as a whole introduces the
sexualized tone that dominates many passages in the play. According to the OED,
skittish describes a disposition characterized by levity, frivolity, or excessive
liveliness. It also carries the meaning, more familiar in contemporary usage as it is
applied to horses of a nervous or restive disposition. Due to the fact that the horse
is a classic image of sexuality it is interesting to note that there are a number of
instances in Shakespeare s time (as Gordon Williams explores in his Dictionary of
Sexual Language and Imagery in Shakespeare) of women described as skittish in
The Garden Party
Life can be considered to be unfair. There are rich people and poor people. There
are the lucky and the unlucky ones. There are the dead and there are the alive. The
Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield talks about class distinction and the meaning
of life. The story starts with the narrator talking about the early moments that are
happening in the garden. The garden is beautiful, laden with all the pretty flowers
and trees. The weather is perfect, like it is meant to be a gift from the heavens. The
future is bright like the weather. Vibrant, but still very serene. There is already a
gardener working in the garden, making sure that it is perfect looking and in tip top
shape. But the garden has only roses, hundreds of roses. Breakfast time, and the
workers are now ready to set up the pole... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sheridan. But then again, Mrs. Sheridan is already with the two and intervenes
with the situation. She says that she was just passing the flower shop the other day
and was fascinated by all those lilies when she saw them. And she makes the
garden party as a great excuse to buy a lot of lilies. Laura thinks her mother wouldn
t interfere, but her mother says otherwise. While the florist s man unloads the rest
of the lilies, Meg and others are just done moving the piano in the drawing room.
Jose barks orders including moving the sofa and the tables, as she loves giving
orders while servants love obeying her. Now she wants to test out the piano by
playing This Life is Weary . Then again, she makes a sour expression while singing
the song. Before she can continue to sing, Sadie interrupted the ladies about
having the flags for the sandwiches. Mrs. Sheridan tells Sadie that the cook will
have the flags in a little while. Mrs. Sheridan then asks Laura to come with her to
write the names for her, and tells Jose to pacify the cook because she is terrified of
her this morning (Mansfield 341). Once Laura wrote the names, she speeds off to the
kitchen where she
Analysis Of The Poem Elin Diamond
Elin Diamond takes an insightful look at a time when the identity of females was
being displayed in a false way in restoration theatre. What breaks down is the
themes that chained females to their place in society while also uncovering why a
female playwright, given her awareness of these problems that surrounded her and
females around her, blatantly used and exploited these methods in her writing
throughout her life. The apparatus, or enabler of this happening is pulled apart first.
She goes into detail explaining the social hierarchy of those who ran and produced
theatre predominantly, This being mostly upper class aristocratic males. The same
males who were shown to have control of production from the inception of the
script to the selling of said tickets to other aristocrats for the viewing of the plays.
This leads to the development of new technologies as time progressed so did
technology. Elin exposes the fact these technologies created this idea of Spectator
fetishism and that from this the identity of women became directly conflicted. It
crafted this idea that there were two sides of women, the false, theatrical, and
powdered womanversus the natural female. Supporting this idea is anecdotal telling
s of men s fascination with watching women create these theatrical versions of
themselves. This idea tied into her second point of the Virgin Commodities a large
point Elin makes in this section is how the dowry system would go on to change the
perspective of how
The Russian World Russian Federation Essay
The present day Russian Federation involves a democratic system, given the
presence of elections, an independent judiciary, and the supremacy of law. Yet, in
democracy, the crux of it involves an inevitable paradox: law limits state power,
but the state must have the power to enforce the law. However, finding the balance
of the ability to enforce laws, and therefore maintaining order, while not infringing
on civil liberties, requires a mutual understanding, a social contract, between the
rulers and the ruled. This requirement has not found its place in the Russian
political arena, especially since creating a rule of law based sate out of dictatorship
is not easy (Bressler 2009). In addition, the Russian psyche views authority as a
source of force and violence (Yakovlev 1996), an etymological result of a continuity
beginning from imperial Russia. Although the Russian Federation, the Union Soviet
Socialist Republics, the Russian Empire, and the Tsardom of Russia differ
significantly, a strong state remains prevalent in the core of Russian history and
politics. In short, the nature of political rule in Russia involves a never ending tug of
war between the seemingly undying authoritative soulless entity known as the state
and the equally undying Russian people s hunger for liberty.
Seemingly Undying Authoritative and Soulless State
Under Monarchical Russia Describing the tug of war necessitates full understanding

Essay on All the Pretty Horses
All the Pretty Horses
John Grady is not your average cowboy. All the Pretty Horses is not your typical
coming of age story. This is an honest tale. Cormac McCarthy follows John Grady as
he embarks on his journey of self discovery across the border. Armed with a few
pesos in his pocket, a strong horse and a friend at his side, John Grady thinks he s
ready to take on the Wild Westof Mexico. At their final steps in America, a stranger,
aged thirteen, joins our heroes. This unexpected variable named Blevins challenges
John Grady, testing his character and pushing him to uncomfortable limits. The
dynamic of their relationship reveals John Grady s capacity to care for others as he

These two cowboys have no use for an extraneous kid with a showy horse, and
Rawlins makes that clear to him, but they do not deliberately run Blevins off. John
Grady recognizes the beginnings of a relationship, and he does not refuse. We aint
seen the last of his skinny ass (41), he reflects as they continue, abandoning Blevins in
the dust. His words are not resentful nor does he appear aggravated. Blevins eventual
inclusion reflects the nonchalant attitude John Grady maintains throughout the
beginning of his journey.
John Grady assumes the role of leader not on account of his own actions but rather
as a reaction to his companion and their surroundings. Rawlins looks at him several
times, searching for guidance regarding this strange kid. An optimistic, self
assured outlook washes away the danger surrounding Blevins, giving way to John
Grady s passive response. He accepts responsibility because he doesn t decline,
consenting to his role as leader by default. In theory, this superficial
acknowledgement is rooted in genuine ability, and when the occasion demands, he
will be able to perform. If John Grady looks like the leader, then he becomes the
leader. But, he is still a child, a boy of sixteen. His premature self conception as a
man inspires too much faith in himself, suggesting confidences and abilities that have
yet to develop.
As they travel deeper into Mexico, John Grady appears
Common Themes In Siddhartha
Do you know the difference between knowledge and wisdom? Most people don t
know how to explain it, so allow me to shed some light to the situation. Siddhartha,
written by Hermann Hesse, is a notable novel that tells the story of a young man,
Siddhartha, in search of finding his true Self. He sacrifices everything, almost to the
point of self destruction, before finding what he really is seeking for. Throughout
the search, he begins to discover the true meaning of life by interacting with other
people and learning how to adapt to the real world. He was educated of the art of
love and sex from a prostitute, Kamala, and from the son they created, Little
Siddhartha. He also discovered how to conduct business from a rich merchant,
Kamaswami, and was taught by a ferryman, Vasudeva, on how to convey
understanding from a river. Siddhartha then realized that in order to really know and
learn something, you must experience it yourself; not by listening to other people tell
of their experiences. Hermann Hesses novel, Siddhartha, Herman Hesse uses
characterization, experiences and events, and comparisons to develop the theme that
knowledge can be communicated, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Illustrious Buddha taught about the world, he had to divide it into Samsara
and Nirvana, into illusion and truth, into suffering and salvation. One cannot do
otherwise there is no other method for those who teach... I have realized this
repeatedly (Hesse 143). Siddhartha explains to Govinda, based on his experience with
the Buddha, that you must experience things for yourself in order to gain wisdom.
With much experience, you gain knowledge. With much knowledge, you gain
wisdom. Therefore, it is as the theme stated, knowledge can be communicated, but not
wisdom (Hesse 142). You can talk and communicate about your experiences
(knowledge), but you cannot make others learn by it

How Does Living On A River Affect My Life On The Raft
As we drift down the river on our raft my mind begins to wander, I start looking
back on all that I have experienced since my escape from Pap. My thoughts start to
focus on the various places we have stopped on the river. The different rules and
people that we find are truly tiring, it makes me feel as though life on the raftis the
only way to go. On the raft I have a sense of freedom, I do not have to be someone
else like I have done many times before. The raft allows me to do things
unfathomable on the shore, being fully naked for example. It was on this very raft
where I began to learn more about not the slave, but the man known as Jim. I
remember when I first found Jim staking out on Jackson Island, the scared look on
his face while begging me not to turn him in. I have grown fond of Jim, his
companionship throughout my journey has made me believe that I had made the
correct choice. But it also makes my heart feel heavy thinking back on all that I
have done to him, but that is of the past and I dwell on it no longer. My eyes lock

High School Entrance Essay.pdf

  • 1. High School Entrance Essay Crafting a High School Entrance Essay can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate balance of self-expression, academic prowess, and an understanding of the institution's expectations. The difficulty lies not only in the task of showcasing one's achievements, aspirations, and unique qualities but also in presenting them in a compelling narrative that stands out among a sea of applicants. Firstly, delving into personal experiences and articulating them in a way that resonates with the intended audience can be daunting. It demands introspection and self-awareness, as the essay prompts often require students to reflect on their past achievements, challenges, and future goals. The challenge is not merely in listing accomplishments but in weaving a cohesive and engaging story that captures the reader's attention from the outset. Furthermore, the essay must strike a balance between humility and confidence. It should showcase the student's strengths and potential without veering into arrogance. Striking this delicate equilibrium requires a keen understanding of one's achievements and an ability to communicate them effectively without appearing boastful. Additionally, the challenge lies in tailoring the essay to the specific requirements of the institution. Researching the school, understanding its values, and aligning one's goals with its mission can be time-consuming. Crafting a personalized essay that demonstrates a genuine desire to be part of the school community requires a deep understanding of the institution's ethos. Finally, the pressure to stand out in a competitive pool of applicants adds another layer of difficulty. The essay must be unique, memorable, and leave a lasting impression. This necessitates creativity and originality in both content and presentation, making the writing process all the more intricate. In conclusion, writing a High School Entrance Essay involves navigating a complex terrain of self-expression, humility, institution-specific alignment, and competition. Success in this endeavor requires not only strong writing skills but also a deep understanding of oneself and the target institution. As daunting as it may be, it is a crucial step in the application process, demanding careful consideration and effort to create an essay that truly reflects the essence of the applicant. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any other writing needs, a helpful resource is HelpWriting.net, where a range of services is available to guide and support individuals through the writing process. • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Easter Island How an ancient, massive statue called a moai has moved from the quarries to its ahu has many people questioning, how did the ancient natives of Easter Island do it? Over the years, archeologists and engineers have tried to answer this question. However all theories of these great occurrences have limitations. This may be because no one truly knows how the ancients of Easter Island lived and how advance their culture may have been. Another reason for these limitations is the natural resources that are available today versus the natural resources of the past. Not only is there a difference in the natural resources available, but the landscape may also differ from the past. Taking these factors into consideration it is still possible to theorize
  • 3. Essay about The Revolutions of 1848 The revolution of 1848 encompassed many of the European countries. The revolutions sweeping across Europe included Germany, Italy, and France, excluding Russia and England. Many historians refer to the year of 1848 as, The Year of Revolutions , because of how the revolts spread throughout Europe. The question is which political groups were the influence behind this revolution and what were the causes of the revolution. The revolution united many diverse groups of people; they were able to put aside their differences to move toward the greater good of the society as a whole. Perhaps, the revolution was about basic human survival, by means of having adequate food, shelter and the basic supplies to live; and political upheaval to make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The industrious response to the growth of the population was parallel to the new population size. More people from rural areas were found moving to the cities to find work in the new industries that were created. The major problem that led up to the revolution was the tension that was forming between the classes. The working class had major issues dealing with survival in poverty. There were three main causes of the outbreak of the revolution in Germany such as: the down spiral of the business cycle, business failure and loss of job, and the harvest failures throughout Europe. The people sought after change but in the end they did not fully reach their goal. ( The revolutions of 1848: in Germany, Italy, and France ) In Italy, nationalism began to form, the conservative leaders felt threatened by the ideas of the nationalist as well as liberalist because the ideas were very radical. The pervasive crop failures for two consecutive seasons were part of the reason for the quick uprising. The working class as in Germany took the brunt of the problems that the loss of crops had on Italy, because they were those, directly linked to their ability to buy food . ( The Revolution of 1848 ). Giuseppe Mazzini was a key supporter of unifying the Italian state. Mazzini as well as the pope s support was required to raise an upheaval for a revolution. The Italian nationalist needed three key components to make their revolution happen as well as Mazzini and the pope s support and
  • 4. St. Louis Childrens Museum Research Paper Have you ever heard of the St.Louis Children s Museum? It is awesome and plus you will never see anything like it. It is a big climbing area made out of recycled metal scraps, a plane on top and everything you could wish for as a 10 year old kid. I mean when you were 10 tell me you didn t want to climb on everything you saw and you could do exactly that at the St.Louis Children s Museum! It was heaven! So my brother who was 6 and I went off to the races. First we went straight for the plane. All we could see from the inside was tube like metal rods, a metal small house and the plane! It was so far away and so high up. So it didn t help that I was kinda afraid of heights. There was to two ways one way was a giant slide to get down to the ground level or up towards the plane. So we start on the path to the plane. This is the same metal rod tube environment, but this one is like the body of a snake twisting side to side. This one is surprisingly still like the same difficulty as the last one because instead of just going in circles though you have to constantly change you body position especially in a very small tube like environment. But by now we had made some serious progress. They was only only one part left The Stairs. It was fulfillment we had reach the plane! It was an old, maybe abandoned plane that was for like two to four people. It was still really cool though you could go in the pilot seat a act like you re flying the plane. It felt for were flying it because it was so high up and preciously on top balancing half on half off. So it looked like you were actually flying. It was all a ten year old could wish for! So now we went back down to go back home it was such a fun day and we didn t even get to half the
  • 5. A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings Marquez Reader Response Essay: A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings What would you do if you found a man with wings in your yard? Would you imprison him, turn him into the authorities, or be interested in what changes or information this person could bring to your community? Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez used this analogy to convey his thoughts about his community in the short story, A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings (Enormous). Does the fact that GarcГa MГЎrquez is a South American writer have any influence on the developments of his story? Or could the story take place in any country at any time? South American Roots GarcГa MГЎrquez lived in Columbia, South America when he published Enormous in 1955. This was an extremely violent period of civil war (Goodwin, 2006). John Goodwin pointed out that Enormous was a social commentary piece of the times and is an analogy of the relationship between the Columbian government and the Catholic Church (2006). I believe that this is an excellent description of this story. The government is represented by the Angel and the Catholic Church by Father Gonzaga. There is a distinct communication problem between the two, the parish priest had his first suspicion of an imposter when he saw... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the publication of Phantom, the aspects of colonial / postcolonial, ethnic / Eurocentric discourses, which were almost forgotten, began to pop up as in those belts of Australia where there were aboriginal settlements for whom Phantom became an icon and thus they loved to read these comics and idolise their hero. But the truth is that the brutalities of European settlement in Australia is kept under the pretext of Terra Nullius2 and a peaceful process which finds its apt expression through the Phantom comics where the white man s arrival and settlement on a non European space and building an empire is related in a way of cross cultural interaction, intimacy and hospitality. In colonial and post colonial British literature the phantom or ghost is a recurrent figure that symbolises the repressed trauma attendant to colonisation that haunts protagonists in novels such as Defoe s Robinson Crusoe and Brontes juvenilia. The famous comic strip The Phantom by Lee Falk naturalised this figure, making him into a normal man who fabricated a belief in his immortality. Referred to as The Ghost Who Walks, his headquarters was in a cave, which also contained his vast treasure. The Phantom ruled the natives of Africa and India, who superstitiously believed that he was a white god who had lived for centuries. In 1525, the first Phantom swore an oath to fight the pirates who had killed his father and to battle all evil. Each subsequent

  • 9. Women In The Medieval Ages After re reading chapters nine through thirteen, I came to the conclusion that women made very few significant contributions to culture in the Medieval West. This is not the case for lack of trying, though. It was tough for women to do much contributing in this time period.Men of the Medieval ages already had a hostile attitude toward womankind, intensified perhaps by women s increasing participation in some of the commercial activities traditionally dominated by men (274). Thomas Aquinas went as far as to question whether womanshould have been made in the first place (296). You hear about many famous men of the Medieval times like Charlemagne, Lancelot, and Dante, but rarely hear about the works of women. One of the reasons for this

  • 11. The Beginning of Our Annual Beach Journeys I can remember the day clearly as if it were yesterday. The sand covering my feet was shining brightly with resilient sunlight. The tides crashed gently against the sand as if caressing it. The wind carried on casually; at times I felt no breeze at all, as if the wind itself stopped for a second to enjoy the relaxing scene. This day marked the beginning of our annual familybeach journeys. I was 9 years old and was overly obsessed with an old raggedy purse made out of old pillow cases and bed sheets. My mom was a seamstress and I considered myself very lucky growing up being able to watch her work. Months prior to our summer trip, for Christmas, I received a pink kid s mini sewing machine. I could feel the enthusiasm bubbling inside me as I opened my gift. The patchwork on the purse was a display of creativity on my first fashion accessory. Psychologically, this item brought to me so much comfort just like my baby brother who was emotionally attached to his smelly, old blankey. It was the summer of 1996, when we arrived at Malaquite Beach in Corpus Christi, Texas. There were many other families sitting at the beach sharing the warm summer day. We began to set up our area by creating some shade with a wide, heavy beach canopy. My family came prepared with large coolers full of cold waters and sodas. My sisters and I began applying plenty of sunblock, meanwhile, my dad and brother in laws fired up the pit. There is nothing more enjoyable than playing with Frisbee s at the

Gottieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, of Germany, fitted their engine into a stagecoach in 1886 (Kindersley, 2011, 10). They were both successful at creating the first four wheeled, gas engine vehicle. It reached a top speed of ten miles per hour. We ll split the difference and say that a license costs twenty bucks. Next is a rod and reel. I m not a hunter myself, but I m pretty sure a deer license is about thirty dollars, and that only allows you to hunt one species, whereas a fishing license allows you to fish for all species. In addition to your gun and license, you re going to have to buy your hunter orange clothing, and ammunition for your gun. This will cost at least fifty dollars. Three hundred and eight

Faulty electrical appliance or equipment and poor electrical installations may lead to fire which could potentially injure people around it. According to National Fire Protection Association, approximately 2600 people are killed in home fires each year, most are caused by electrical faults [4]. Also, electricityor even static could be the source of ignition in a potentially flammable or explosive atmosphere. For example, in a garage where contain vaporized gasoline due to a tipped over gas tank, the static generated between the car door and key can cause explosion if the ratio between air vaporized gasoline is within the explosive range. Electromagnetic interference is disturbance which can affect an electrical circuit with electromagnetic induction or radiation [6]. It s a serious hazard especially for airlines. The modern aircrafts are heavily dependent on navigation and other vital electronic systems. Electromagnetic interference may cause these systems to malfunction and lead to crash. A researcher from Harvard University, Elaine Scarry stated that Electromagnetic interference in the airspace east of JFK airport may have caused three air crashes in 20th century; the crash of TWA Flight 800 in1996, the crash of Swissair Flight 111 in 1998, and crash of Egypt Air Flight 990 in 1999 [7]. Flood Case Study Other Factors Contributing to the Flood The Arun and Sunkosi sub catchments of the upper catchment area contribute to the intensity of floods, with the former possessing highest surface runoff potential (Wakode et al., 2013). As the Kosi River exits at the base of the mountain, the ability to transport sediment is dampened, leading to deposition of sediment and aggradation (Kale, 2008). High silt content in the river was due to soil erosion and landslides and the presence of narrow gorges (Wakode et al., 2013). The construction of the eastern embankment increased aggradation on the western side of the river, making the embankment vulnerable to breaching (Sinha, 2009). The high discharge of water from rivers can cause extensive damage to life and property (Singh Kumar, 2017), both of which include livestock, croplands and public utilities (i.e. electricity, telephones, and roads) (Singh Kumar, 2013). For instance, a lot of agricultural land was rendered uncultivable because the flood had transported and deposited excess sediment (Chakraborty et al., 2010). Singh and Kumar (2013) noted that millions of people in India are affected by flash floods yearly. In this regard, it can be deduced that countless people were displaced, many villages were flooded, and Bihar s infrastructure was compromised (Kale, 2008). While there have been no reliable estimate of deaths and loss of properties for the flood event, it can be said that more than 30 million people were affected (Sinha, 2009). The 2008 flood was an unprecedented human misery due to increased population density (Kale, 2008). The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between (Mother Teresa). Before 1973, individual states were allowed to decide whether abortion would be legal within their borders. The topic of abortion and whether or not it is right or wrong is a constant debate in todays society. Everyone has their own beliefs on the matter, but it should not be a question of what we believe, it should be the question of whether or not this procedure should be considered an illegal act. There are hundreds of woman everyday that have an abortion, and hundreds of innocent lives being slaughtered legally. The fact that this procedure is legal in the U.S, and that people actually see it as their choice or right to abort the baby, disturbs me immensely. The first reason that should make an abortion procedure illegal is that it is murder, plain and simple. I discovered I was pregnant with my first child. So, this is an opportunity to learn about the ocean from a big experiment that has already been put in place by humans. Over the last several decades, human activities have so altered the basic chemistry of the seas that they are now experiencing evolution in reverse: a return to the barren primeval waters of hundreds of millions of years ago. Marine pollution is basically the consequences of oceanic destruction which means when hazardous materials and chemicals enter the ocean or a big body of water and spread to rate of exponential growth and decrease the lifespan of nearby marine animals. Marine pollution is not just given in the word itself, but it holds a deeper understanding than most know. Plastic bottles and cigarette buds are visible to the eye and can be removed by just picking it up, but there is another monstrosity roaming the oceans called the plastisphere. Which is still a form of marine pollution that very few understand. This is because when someone is taller, the surface area of the lungs is enlarged, which allows the volume of the lung to grow, since there is more space in the person s body

What breaks down is the themes that chained females to their place in society while also uncovering why a female playwright, given her awareness of these problems that surrounded her and females around her, blatantly used and exploited these methods in her writing throughout her life. The apparatus, or enabler of this happening is pulled apart first. The Russian World Russian Federation Essay The present day Russian Federation involves a democratic system, given the presence of elections, an independent judiciary, and the supremacy of law. Yet, in democracy, the crux of it involves an inevitable paradox: law limits state power, but the state must have the power to enforce the law. However, finding the balance of the ability to enforce laws, and therefore maintaining order, while not infringing on civil liberties, requires a mutual understanding, a social contract, between the rulers and the ruled. This requirement has not found its place in the Russian political arena, especially since creating a rule of law based sate out of dictatorship is not easy (Bressler 2009). In addition, the Russian psyche views authority as a source of force and violence (Yakovlev 1996), an etymological result of a continuity beginning from imperial Russia. Although the Russian Federation, the Union Soviet Socialist Republics, the Russian Empire, and the Tsardom of Russia differ significantly, a strong state remains prevalent in the core of Russian history and politics. How Does Living On A River Affect My Life On The Raft As we drift down the river on our raft my mind begins to wander, I start looking back on all that I have experienced since my escape from Pap. My thoughts start to focus on the various places we have stopped on the river. The different rules and people that we find are truly tiring, it makes me feel as though life on the raftis the only way to go. On the raft I have a sense of freedom, I do not have to be someone else like I have done many times before. The raft allows me to do things unfathomable on the shore, being fully naked for example. My eyes lock onto him while he is steering the raft, looking off into the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A mentionable one they thought of was fetching water from the river and claiming it s from some fountain of youth . But the one they settled on was getting Jim to perform some A rab snake charming. A load of hogwash I tell you, just where do they come up with
