The Origins Of The First World War
The Origins of the First World War The Road To War Is Paved With Good
Alliances Did a failure in alliance cause World War 1? Who s who? Great Britain
had a very large empire mostly in Africa and Asia. Britain was choosing to keep
out of all matters in Europe that didn t concern them, this policy was called
Splendid Isolation and for some time, it was very splendid for Britain, they were
once the top for industrial and maritime industrial. Because of Splendid Isolation, it
was very hard for anybody to know where Britain stood on matters (Splendid
Isolation. History BlogSpot). They needed to protect their overseas empire, so the
British had a very large navy. The French had a well trained army, however France
was behind Britain and German in economic wealth, it made less steel and coal
than the other two countries. France and Germany had already had conflicts in the
past when France lost Alsace and Lorraine to Germany back in the Franco Prussian
War of 1871 and they wanted it back, however they were just no match for
Germany. For now, France had to wait Russia was the biggest, but poorest country
in Europe that Tsar Nicholas ruled, however he had a very odd way of leading his
country, violently stopping unpopular opinions and allowing people he liked to
have a say in Russia s policy making. Russia had a big army but they were behind on
new technology. The rest of Russia s people were simple farmers, with over 80% of
the population doing some kind of land related job.
The Symbol of Blood in William Shakespeare s Macbeth...
The Symbol of Blood in William Shakespeare s Macbeth
Blood represents life, death and often injury. It is an essential part of life, and without
blood, we could not live. In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood to
represent treachery, murder and death. The word blood , or different forms of it,
appear numerous times throughout the play. Interestingly, the symbol of blood
changes throughout the play, corresponding to the atmosphere and mood changes in
the characters and the play.
First, blood is a reference of honor, and this occurs when Duncan sees the injured
sergeant and says, What bloody man is that? (1.2.1). This is symbolic of the brave
fighter who been injured in a valiant battle for Scotland. The sergeant ... Show more

Lady Macbeth starts this off when she asks the spirits to make thick [her] blood
(1.5.50). What she is saying by this, is that she wants to make herself insensitive
and remorseless for the deed she is hoping to commit. However, she forces
Macbeth to do the deed. Right before killing Duncan, Macbeth sees a dagger
floating in the air leading him to Duncan?s room and he sees on the blade and
dudgeon gouts of blood (2.1.58), indicating that the knife has been viciously
stabbed into someone. This is a Lady Macbeth knows that the evidence of blood is
a treacherous symbol, and knows it will deflect the guilt from her and Macbeth to
the servants when she says If he do bleed, I?ll gild the faces of the grooms withal,
for it must seem their guilt (2.2.71 73).
When Banquo states and question this most bloody piece of work (2.3.150), and
Ross asks is?t known who did this more than bloody deed? (2.4.31), they are both
inquiring as to who performed the treacherous acts upon Duncan. When Macbeth is
speaking about Malcolm and Donalbain, he refers to them as bloody cousins
A final way, and perhaps the most vivid use of the symbol blood, is of the theme of
guilt. First Macbeth hints at his guilt when he says Will all great Neptune?s ocean
wash this blood clean from my hand? (2.2.78), meaning that he wondered if he would
ever be able to forget the dastardly deed that he had committed. Then the ghost of
Banquo, all gory, and bloody comes to haunt Macbeth at the
Monarch Butterfly Research Papers
The monarch butterfly is one of the most familiar species, and is considered
important because of its pollinating skills. This species is most recognizable for is
black, orange, and white wings. The monarch butterflies wings change colors from
orange to a deep red, from beginning to the end of migration. This butterfly
population has been decreasing over the last ten years, and are predicted to be
quasi extinct over the next 20 years. These butterflies keep warm by opening their
wings up to the sun. Males have a different appearance than the female butterflies
such as they are much bigger in size, and the black veins on their wings are narrower
than those of a female. The monarch butterfly has six legs, but only uses four. They

By Steve Sarnoff

A lot of people get nervous once you start talking about options. After all, they re not
your standard investment. You really have to read between the lines and have a keen
eye for short term trends... Sometimes, those trends only last for a few hours.
But, with all that said, with keen investing sense and the right preparation you could

Background Information And Data Exploration Essay
Background Information and Data Exploration
The data set our group chose to analyze looks at alcohol consumption for students in
Portugal given a set of demographic, familial, academic and social characteristics.
With this data set in particular, it is important to note that in Portugal, the legal
drinking age is sixteen years old and most of the participants in the data set are of
legal drinking age. One hundred ninety five participants out of one thousand forty
four total participants, or 18.68%, are underage. The data set was extremely clean,
as there were no missing values in the data set. Examples of the variables provided
were: sex, age, address (urban v. rural), parental status (together v. apart), mother s
education, father s education, guardianship, travel time to school, study time,
number of classes failed, school support, extracurricular support, etc. Of all the
provided variables, the three variables that our group chose to remove from our data
set were school, reason and weekend alcohol consumption. The variable school only
told the reader, whether the student attended Gabriel Pereira or Mousinho da Silveira.
As a group, we justify removing this variable in order to make our findings more
applicable to the general population, and not just those students who attended either
of the two schools. The other variable we removed was reason. This variable
represents the reason that the student attended the school that he or she did, whether
it be reputation or the
A Raisin In The Sun By Lorraine Hansberry
The chasing of a mirage is a futile quest where an individual chases an imaginary
image that he or she wants to capture. The goal of this impossible quest is in sight,
but it is unattainable. Even with the knowledge that failure is inevitable, people
still dream of catching a mirage. There is a fine line that separates those who are
oblivious to this fact, and to those who are aware and accept this knowledge. The
people who are oblivious represent those who are ignorant of the fact that their
dream will be deferred. This denial is the core of the concept used in A Raisin in the
Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. The perception of the American Dream is one that is
highly subjective, but every individual dream ends in its own deferment. During the...

Struggling like a woman trenching through thick brown mud, Lena is still
adamant in her quest to attain a higher existence in this world (Hansberry 139). As
her trek to their inescapable fate continues, Mama s dreams dry up in the heat of
realization. Mama is not the only character that is intricately characterized in the
book. Beneatha, Lena s daughter, is also put together to represent the inevitability
of living like one of the lower class. She says that, George looks good he s got a
beautiful car and takes me to nice places.. (Hansberry 49) While this quote defines
Beneatha s acceptance of George s privileged life, it is said with a shadow of
jealousy. According to Freydberg, a writer and author, this establishes the class
differences between the Youngers and the Murchisons. This new fine line that
separates the upper and lower class creates individual characteristics that define each
class. Darwin Turner, an honored African American who taught at the University of
Iowa, asserted that even though the blacks and whites have similar character traits
and similar values, they are ambivalent about social interrelationships. These two
races are truly self defining, and the inequality between these two ethnicities proves
it. With Beneatha s apparent jealousy for the life of the upper class, the text
Elementary School Ranges From Kindergarten
3.Cumberland Elementary School ranges from kindergarten to third grade. The
principal of Cumberland is Kimberly Bowers. Mrs. Bowers has many years of
experience as both a teacher and as a principal. Of the teachers at Cumberland, a
majority of them have at least six to ten years of experience teaching. All of the
teachers are Caucasian. The school focuses mainly of literature and mathematics.
This means that these two subjects are integrated the others frequently. This method
can be very beneficial to the students and help them to make connections. There are
eight classes for every grade. Cumberland was rated the number one school in
Indiana. They were also rated as a four star school. All of these facts lead me to
believe that this is a school with very high standards for their students and teachers.
Knowing this as an educator means that I will have to work hard to help the students
and the school continue to succeed. Cumberland Elementary is a very diverse school.
The current enrolment of the school is 673 students according to Compass. The
students range from thirty one different countries and include seventeen different
languages. Only about half of the students are Caucasian and the rest are of different
ethnicities. The second largest race in the school is Asian. As a teacher, this diversity
means that I will have to make accommodations for students who do not speak
English as a first language. This can also give me opportunities to discuss the
different cultures in
The Reasons For Setting A Business
Introduction There are two reasons for setting a business. One is to profit. The
other reason is to become successful. Good leadership is important in achieving
these goals. Melchar and Bosco (2010) defined leadership as an integral component
of organizational success. A successful organization will always keep abreast of
modern development. According to Hossain (2015), such an organization has to be
in a position to serve customers effectively. Yet in order to address, leaders have to
address the plight of their employees. This paper analyzes life, accomplishments and
traits of Richard Branson.

India s The Indian State
The Indian state, while ostensibly secular, nevertheless has institutionally always
been set up to intervene in religious affairs. The Indian constitution enshrines the
right to individual freedom of religion, [but] also empowers the state to intervene in
Hindu religious institutions. (Sen 16) The constitution, for instance, calls on the state
to ban untouchability, an abhorrent Hindu practice, establishing affirmative action to
help certain disadvantaged religious groups and puts in place separate personal laws
for different religious groups. (Sen 16) These policies allow institutions like the
government, and the courts to intervene in communal issues, making the government
a player in conflicts like the Babri Masjid. The Congress party, while a secular party,
was consequently involved in decision making that would favour either the Hindus or
the minorities. Indias Supreme Court was also involved in legislating on religious
affairs. As Sen writes, India s version of secularism can be traced back to the
debates in the Constituent Assembly, where the constitution was drafted in the late
1940s. The Assembly saw a lot of debate over what form this secularism would take.
There were several voices in the Assembly, including that of B.R. Ambedkar, who
wanted to severely restrict the role of religion in the public sphere. Hence, scientist
K.T. Shah raised the demand that there be an article expressly stating that the Indian
state has no concern with any religion, creed or
Analysis Of Robert Frost s Mending Wall
The turn of the twentieth century brought about in the United States the largest
economic and industrial period of change ever experienced in the history of
mankind. This period of time was characterised by big power hungry monopolies, the
downfall of colonialism, devastating outbreaks of cholera and typhoid, and most
importantly the rejection of old world traditions. During this time of change, In 1914
Robert Frostpublished his poem Mending Wall. The poem is literally about the
speaker and his neighbour repairing a wall that divides their property, but
figuratively, this American classic embodies the spirit of a new age in American
history. In the Mending Wall , Robert Frost uses the literary device of symbolism to
express his theme of the destruction of old world tradition.
The use of symbolism in the poem Mending Wall expresses the new age American
way of thinking in contrast to the social tradition of the old world. In the poem, the
speaker and his neighbour meat ritual every year in the spring to make repairs to the
wall that divides them and their property. It could be argued that the holes in the
wall are a symbol for the deterioration of old world traditions. The speaker says in
regards to the holes in the wall No one has seen them made or heard them made, But
at spring mending time we find them there. Everything will erode with time. Whether
it is as simple as the stones of a wall, or as grand and seemingly untouchable as the
traditions or culture of
Young Earth Realism Vs. Old Earth Creationism
This book has taught me far beyond what I expected, perhaps while reading this
book I learned much more about the Genesis 1 account than I ever learned in my
entire life. Miller and Soden might argue that my lack of study in this area is a result
of being a group thinker rather than an individual thinker (30). Looking at both the
Young Earth creationism(YEC) and the Old earth creationism (OEC) views for the
first time, I realized that during my time at Moody Bible Institute I am really
seeking to be challenged in my beliefs with by no means making it some kind of
test for orthodoxy. Even though both the YEC and OEC views have strong
arguments the aim of this essay is to demonstrate what I took away from this book
which was written by two advocate of the OEC belief.
At the beginning of the book Miller and Soden argues that the people who ... Show

I particularly enjoyed learning about how the offspring of Abraham that had spent
hundreds of years in exile in Egypt has been affected by their religious beliefs.
More specifically their belief on creation since they have the most similarities with
the one in Genesis 1. Miller and Soden said that sometimes our observation of the
world may require us to reconsider our understanding of the text because we have
not adequately understood the text in its original context. I agree with this statement
more than ever before; my mind is blown by this book. Genesis 1:2 talks about the
earth being formless, void. Darkness and deep. Similarly, the Egyptian belied for
creation is that the earth was watery, unilluminated, with darkness and
imperceptibility. Additionally, the separation from the light to darkness occurs in
both account. The conundrum of having light created before the sun is in place in

Middlesex, by Jeffrey Eugenides, inner struggles are paralleled with each setting.
Taking place in the twentieth century each setting plays a significant role in
explaining a theme in the novel. Fleeing Greece in a time of war and entering

fleeing Grosse Pointe Michigan to San Francisco. These settings compliment a
major theme of the novel, society has always believed to be missing something in

Paralleling each setting as an escape for the people to live honestly as who they
wanted to be. Reflecting the theme by giving the missing piece, a new place to
live as they wanted, to be temporarily filled, to be who they truly believed they
were. Cal getting into trouble at work in San Francisco parallels Desdemona
telling the truth about her and her husband in Grosse Pointe, and communicates
the inevitable bad part of filling in the missing piece. Desdemona, Lefty, and Cal
were happy leaving to a new place, but eventually what they were running from
would catch up. Both Grosse Pointe Michigan and Greece came off as a war zone.
One, Greece, an actual war zone, while Grosse Pointe Michigan was a mental war
zone. In Greece many described the burning houses cause a huge amount of
physical harm. ...each house setting fire to it s neighbor until entire blocks are
burning (56 57). All the physical harm parallels the mental distress that occurred
for Cal as he got the news at the doctors office. The burning buildings represent the
push to run and become yourself, because the war pushed Desdemona and Lefty to
flee to America. While Cal was pushed to flee to San Francisco because of the news
at the doctors office. One notices the settings parallel each other in steps that the
characters take while living, and each characters missing the life they believe they
should have parallel each other s fleeing to another area. Greece, Grosse Pointe,

Formula one is the fastest racing car in the world. It is called the greatest car show
in the world. Formula one has a great influence on the people. Millions of people
sit in front of the TV set or around the circuit and watch the race. The drivers are
often called kings of speed and they show their ability to drive fast every second

People wondered about this racing many years ago. The cars were very different
from today s formula ones. The question of safety and also the atmosphere of
racing was different. It was a risk to drive so fast and a lot of tragic accidents
happened. Also the rules have been changed since the first race was held. The rules

The safety car appears when an accident happens. Drivers must drive behind the
safety car slowly and they cannot overtake each other. When someone doesn t obey
the rules he has a penalty. It means that he must take a few seconds pit stop.
When a F1 team and its drivers want to succeed, they must have a good team
strategy. It means that the team management must plan everything important. They
decide whether to use hard or soft tires, how many pit stops the driver should have,
how much fuel to take, which driver is number one on the team... Today s top
teams have very good strategies which are different in every race. The best teams
are McLaren, Ferrari, Jordan, Williams F1 and than less successful Stewart,
Arrows, Minardi... The drivers of McLaren are Mika Hakkinen and David
Coulthard. The strategy in this team is very interesting. The drivers can compete
between each other even when Mika is number one! So David can take points which
can make Mika winner of the season. The drivers of Ferrari are Michael Schumacher
and Eddie Irvine. And the strategy? No.2 has to support No.1. My favorite team is
Jordan Mugen Honda whose drivers are H.H.Frentzen and Damon Hill.
The team s strategy must adapt to each Grand Prix. There are several Grand Prix
with different circuits during the season. For instance GP of Germany, Italy,
Monaco, Canada, Europe, Hungary, Austria and Japan. The current season in 1999
has a special new Grand Prix of Malaysia which was held last week. First was

Observations Regarding Slides of Many Species Seen With a Light Microscope
Introduction: Our class gathered to observe the differences and similarities of life
observable under a microscope. We wanted to study details of each slide to
understand the larger picture of the life that they make up.
Methods and Materials: Our class of twelve was subdivided into six groups of two.
Each group used a light microscope to observe thirteen slides of organic materials
(listed with the appended images). The slides were dyed one or two colors to show
different parts of the organisms or cells. With each slide we started our observations
on 40x magnification and moved up, through 100x, to 400x magnification. After
recording what I saw under the microscopes, I researched what I had seen, and
collected images for comparison, which appear in the appendix.
Observations/Results:
The first slide that my team observed was of Allium root tip in mitosis. Even on the
lowest magnification, cell wells were clear, and nuclei were visible. This visibility
shows how relatively large the cells are. On higher magnification, chromosomes
were visible, and clearly splitting; they were in varying stages of mitosis. Not all cell
walls seemed to have nuclei in them. The duplicating cells were caught in stop
motion. If they could have continued this action they would have created so many
new cells that the Allium specimen could have grown. In effect, we were observing a

Descriptive Writing In Catcher In The Rye
Mr. Spencer Ackley s Descriptive writing The Catcher in The Rye is about a
seventeen year old boy Named Holden who is in a mental hospital. Having a
flashback about what happened last December when he was 16 and just got kicked
out of Pence prep in the story he is trying to discover the world. Confused about
everything does poorly in school and shows depression in hatred for everyone and
everything. Throughout the story he meets people that impact his life like Mr.
Spencer and Robert Ackley. Mr. Spencer a seventy year old man, who is Holden s
history teacher. You may still wonder why he is even teaching at his age if you
really think about it. Old and gross two words that come out of readers mind s
when reading the story. The minute I went in, I was sorry of I d come he was
reading the Atlantic monthly , and there were pills and medicine all over the place
and everything smelled like Vicks Nose Drops it was pretty depressing I m not too
crazy about sick people anyway what made it more depressing , old spencer had on
this very sad , ratty old bathrobe that he was probably born in it or something I don
t much like to see old guys in their pajamas and bathrobes anyway this introduces us
to the way adults view Holden and they he views them in return this a big lack of
understanding Mr . Spencer dosen t know what s wrong with Holden but he wants to
help by lecturing Holden.
Mr. Spencer is a very nice teacher the character in the story seems to have a
connection with him. Even if he failed Holden for not writing his essay on the
Egyptians like he should ve have old Spencer cares for him deeply. I d like to put a
sense in that head of yours boy I m trying to help you If I can Holden thought
different of all the teachers Mr spencer made a big difference but that didn t mean he
would change that still gives the reader a thought on Mr. Spencer never giving up and
having faith that someday things would change.
Robert Ackley a former roommate of Holden s has many weaknesses. Ackley is
dirty, pimply, and all around unhygienic he s annoying. He ll come into your room
and pick your personal stuff and put it back in the wrong place. He thinks being two

Sacagawea is a indian and she helped Lewis and Clark to navigate themand on the

Lewis and Clark were chosen to go on a journey to make a map for Jefferson the

Essay On Black Cook Out
The Guide to surviving a black cookout
Now days our culture has become increasingly integrated and more accepting of racial
diversity. This means there are situations that may arise through, school, and jobs,
cross cultural relationships or interracial dating where one may find themselves in an
environment where the people and the culture is much different from their own. To
prevent awkward moments, miss understandings or altercations that could jeopardize
relationships, I have compiled a list of rules and norms for black barbeques/cookouts

Derbyshire s Demographic Study
Derbyshire is a region in the East Midlands of England. A significant part of the Peak
District National Park exists in Derbyshire, comprising the southern furthest point of
the Pennine scope of hills which reach out into the north of the region.
The changed scenes inside Derbyshire s have been framed for the most part as an
outcome of the basic topography; by the way the land has been overseen and formed
by human undertakings.
From a geological point of view, Derbyshire s strong topography is divided into two
altogether different parts. The most established rocks are found in the northern, more
upland portion of the region, and are for the most part, of Carboniferous age,
including gritstones, limestones, shales, and sandstones. On the other hand, the
southern and more marsh half of Derbyshire contains significantly milder rocks,
chiefly mudstones and sandstones from the Permo Triassic age, which make gentler,
all the more moving scenes with limited rock projections. ... Show more content on

Conformity Vs. Normative Information
From the time we are very little, the number one source for correct facts has always
been on the news. Yet after recently learning about conformity involving
informational versus normative information, it opened my eyes further to understand
how influenced society is as a whole. Another similar example that has been growing
recently is social media. Instead of flipping on the news stations, it is just as popular
now for individuals to look up information on the internet. Although just like how
news stations are biased and only hold true to the sources they support, as do
websites on the internet. What is worse about the internet is that people nowadays
can post anything they would like either on social media or the internet. All it takes is

Herbert Hoover
Herbert Hoover is one of America s most forgotten presidents and is at the bottom
of the list when it comes to polls ranking chief executives of the United States.
Herbert Hoover was born on the 10th of August 1874 in West Branch, Iowa. He
grew up in Oregon and was one of the first students to attend Stanford University
when it opened in 1891. Hoover graduated from Stanford with a major in geology
and utilized his education to start a career as a mining engineer. People do not
easily remember Hoover and he is often overlooked when it comes to U.S. history

an economic Satan , as his Presidency occurred during the first four years of the
Great Depression. Hoover served as the thirty first president of the United States
from 1929 to 1933. Before becoming President, he married Lou Henry, on
February 10, 1899. The couple honeymooned in China where Hoover ended up
taking a job as a mining consultant. Shockingly enough, Hoover built a successful
career as lead engineer for a private mining corporation that worked for the Chinese
emperor. For a month of time that the Hoovers lived in China, their settlement was
under heavy fire during the Boxer Rebellion. During this rebellion, Hoover helped
his local community by building barricades around their city and even risked his life
by saving Chinese children. He became very wealthy from mining the coal in China

The Importance Of Religion In The Workplace
There are many questions that arise when there is talk about religion in the
workplace. In the United States, religion is a very controversial issue. The United
States is one of the most religiously diverse countries in the world. It is known to
recognize at least 1500 religions. The EEOC requires employers to Reasonably
accommodate an employee s religious beliefs or practices unless doing so would
cause more than a minimal burden on the operations of the employer s business. This
means an employer may be required to make reasonable adjustments to the work
environment that will allow an employee to practice his or her religion(Saltarelli,
2013). Everyone has the freedom to exercise their right to choose and practice any
religion they want, says the first amendment. Religion in the workplace is ethical,
and it is important among employees and should be taken seriously by their
employers. I will argue from the utilitarianism theory, that religion in the
workplace is ethical and should be allowed in all workplaces as long as the
employees follow workplace policies and practices. I will contrasthis view with that
of ethical egoism perspective, which would argue that religion in the workplace is
ethical and it allows employees to promote their own happiness and by allowing
them to practice their religious belief while in the workplace freely.

Case Study Approach Is Often Associated With Descriptive...
Case study approach is often associated with descriptive and explanatory research.
The research problem is usually how and why problem, thus resulting in a descriptive
or explanatory study (Cooper Schindler, 2011). How or why questions are being
posed, when the focus is on a contemporary phenomenon within some real life
context. Case studies usually provide qualitative rather than quantitative data for
analysis and interpretation (Yin, 2003). Case studyrefers to qualitative, analysis of
case studies, and field based construction. It also a description of a management
situation. Case study involves data collection through verbal reports, personal
interviews, or observation as the primary data. The main feature is the intensity of the
study of the object, individual, group, organization, culture, incident, or situation
(Ghauri GrГёnhaug, 2010).
A combination of both semi structures and open ended or unstructured interviewing
was carried out and a variety of organizational documentary records and observations
were gathered to collaborate evidence and the data can be triangulate (Yin, 2003).
The characteristic of research designs serves as a background for considering the
specific designs for case studies. Case study may be progress in a variety of ways.
According to Yin (2003), there are six types of case study, defined along two
definitions:
1.In terms of the number of cases: single or multiple.
2.In terms of the purpose of study: explanatory, descriptive,
Alan Wardle s Analysis
Wardle says that any new worker, who is becoming member of a discourse
community, encounters issues with authority and identity concerning learning to
write for the workplace. In order for the new worker to learn new written practices,
they may be asked to give up some measure of authority to which they believe they
are entitled (Wardle 4) Wardle means that whatever the workplace recognizes as
effective or appropriate, although it may not be, has to be recognized by the new
worker as such. Hence, the new worker is being asked to give up values of efficiency
and ethics for the sake of fitting into their workplace. Wardle defines authority as an
intangible quality granted to persons through institutions, which renders their

Beaufort s concept of writing expertise says that a writer should not limit their
writing to one specific writing style or structure. While Beaufort s concept of writing

said community. In comparison, Beaufort is saying when a writer limits themselves

Society, and its influences upon the characters, plays a pivotal role in the
development of the story in Federico Lorca s The House of
Bernarda Alba and Isabel Allende s The House of the Spirits. Though the characters
in each literary work were influenced by a range of societal pressures, three major
influences dominate both works. The
Church, male dominance over women, and socio economic status (in other words,
one s social class) are all sources of the greatest societal pressures upon the characters.

As a result, society plays an important role by influencing the characters and their
actions and eventually leading to a tragic finale. Though The House of The Spirits
is set in rural South America (no particular country is specified) and not rural Spain,
the society described in the novel is very similar to that in The House of
Bernarda Alba. Again, the characters live in a society dominated and controlled by
men with distinctive social class separations and with the Catholic Church wielding
great power and influence over the people. The story spans three generations of the
Trueba family who are all greatly affected by the societal influences. As society
changes, the characters also change as old pressures disappear and new pressures
emerge.
As was characteristic of rural societies throughout Europe and Latin
America at the time of these literary works, the Catholic Church played a profound
role in the lives of people. Its influence was so prevalent because it was the common
link between people of all social classes. In The House of Bernarda Alba , there are
many examples of religion s great influence and significant role in the lives of the
characters.
However, it must be pointed out that the Church, an institution dominated by males,
heavily repressed women and thus solidified male dominance over women in society.

The Approach Of The Software Artifact Summarization
Paradigm
Our approach consists of following steps. First, we collected a corpus of code
fragments, containing 127 code fragments, extracted directly from the Eclipse and
NetBeans Official FAQs. Second, we hired human annotators to suggest summary
lines i.e., Gold Summary Lines (annotation). Third, we introduced crowdsourcing
(data driven) as a problem solving model in software artifact summarization
paradigm, as it had not been employed before for software artifact summarization,
for extracting code features. Fourth, we trained two classifiers namely Support
Vector Machines (SVM) and Naive Bayes (NB) on code fragments. Next, we
evaluated the effectiveness of these classifiers on different statistical measures
such as Accuracy, Precision, Recall, F Score, True Positive Rate (TPR), False
Positive Rate (FPR), Receiver Operator Characteristic (ROC), and Area under
curve (AUC). In the end, we performed feature selection analysis to rank and
determine the importance of selected features. In the sections below, we discuss
these steps one by one. 5.2.1 Corpus Creation We need a corpus of code fragments
to train and judge the effectiveness of our classifiers. Optimally, such a corpus
would have been made available before or created by experts in the field of code
fragment summarization. Previously, Ying et al. [94] have collected a corpus of
code fragments containing 70 code fragments from Eclipse Official FAQ. Since last
year, additional 8 code fragments have been added to Eclipse FAQ,
The Value of a Liberal Education
In today s society we view education as many things, but among the many views
and opinions of education there are two major views we see that stand out,
education is a right for all and education is necessary only for finding a successful
career. To be more exact, it is a college education that is or should be available to all
and is only necessary for securing a successful job. But before we even begin to
think about a job or whether we want to pursue our God given right to higher
educationwe must first start our journey at the bottom of the educational system. In
our lives we all start our journey through educationin the same place, the bottom of
the educational system. For some this can mean something along the lines such as
pre school, private tutoring, or home schooling. We eventually work our way up
going through kindergarten, elementary school, junior high, and then eventually high
school. After high school we are than left two choices, enter directly into the work
force, or pursue a higher education. Say we chose to pursue a higher education and
go to college; we then have to make another decision, do I want go directly into a
certain profession and pursue a degree for that career, or do I want expand my
virtues and pursue a liberal education. For now, let us delve into the subject that is a
liberal education. The beginning of liberal education spans as far back as to the
time of the great Greek philosophers like Aristotle and Plato, as Chuck E. Taylor

Iago’s Scheming in Shakespeare s Othello Essay
Iago s Scheming in Othello
Iago is a powerful predator who exploits those around him by infecting their
perceptions of truth with carefully chosen fallacy. His skill in finding the proverbial
chinks in others armor allows him to skillfully weave his machinations of destroying
Othello into their minds and actions; by manipulating character s perceptions of
Desdemona, Iago gains the leverage he needs to exploit each character. No one is
impervious to Iago s seething purpose; even Othello falls prey to Iago s suggestions
and insinuations about Desdemona. Iago s constant presence as the stager, as well as
his ceaseless but subtle reinforcement of events through narration, allows him to be

Othello, not knowing that Cassio was in fact speaking with Desdemona in hopes of
being reinstated as Lieutenant, mistakenly believes that the two are having an affair
and that Desdemona has lost her chastity. Iago skillfully capitalizes on the situation
by developing his attack further: She did deceive her father, marrying you
(3.3.220). Othello begins to see Iago s reasoning: if she could deceive her father, she
could just as easily deceive her new husband. Once Othello s bliss has been
decimated, Iago concentrates on weakening Othello s perception of himself; Iago
very carefully and very tactfully chooses words and metaphors that subconsciously pit
Othello against the Venetians. Othello begins to perceive himself as an outsider in his
own country, a malignant and turbaned Turk (5.2.365). A fruitful marriage with a
Venetian woman becomes out of the question in Othello s mind. Iago s successful
manipulation takes a self confidant man and reduces him to one at ends with himself
and with the woman he loved.
Iago s omnipresence is vital to his success; only when present in a scene is he able
to manipulate the characters and, more importantly, interpret the scenes for the
benefit of those witnessing the events. In the first scene of the fifth act, after killing
Roderigo and after Cassio passes out, Iago senses the chance to engage in a bit of
creative staging. Iago, left uncontested,
My Reflection On My Current Position
In my current position I have the unique opportunity to visit all kinds of classes at a
variety of times throughout the day and during these visits I have seen the whole
spectrum of lessons being taught. One of the most amazing things I have learned is
that usually within minutes of entering a classroom; I can instantly tell how a lesson
is going for a teacher. If the students are engaged and actively learningor are involved
in an activity, it becomes very evident through their facial expressions to me, that
the lesson is going well and learning is taking place. On the other hand, if when I
enter the room the students give me that look of please help us , I can tell things
aren t going well and something is amiss in the lesson. When I see this my
curiosity usually gets the best of me and if I see these students later in the day or
have a moment during the time I am in the classroom I try to talk to them to find
out what was going on. It is amazing to me how there is usually a common thread
and that is that the students have no idea what is going on or have no clue as to the
purpose of the lesson.
What I realize now is that these teachers simply need to clarify the goals of their
lessons, or as we have studied in this class they need to improve their ability to set
SMART goals. Neihart (2008) states that Goals focus our attention by directing it
activities that are relevant to the task and away from activities that are irrelevant
(p60.). This is so true when
The Influence Of The Puritans
Just how pure were the Puritans? The Puritan era in the United States during the
early 1600 s proved to be a controversial time period. As settlers to the new land
were escaping the grasp of the British monarchy, they brought with them new
religious, cultural, and fundamental ideals. Among these ideals is a rather peculiar
belief. Would you believe that the Puritans were against celebrating Christmas?
Yes, it seems odd for such a pure Christian society to oppose the celebration of their
Savior s birth; they even banned it! Accordingly, the fact that the Puritans were
opposed to the Christmas holiday is absurd. First and foremost, the Puritans viewed
Christmas as a holiday that was observed with more revelry than piety and in that
regard was not proper in the eyes of the Lord. It was in their eyes a commercial
celebration rather than that of actually celebrating the birth of Jesus. However, the
bottom line is that even on a materialistic note, the holiday provoked Christ like
behavior. Even if people became distant from the actual intention of Christmas (the
birth of Christ, that is), it was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once they had officially cancelled Christmas in 1647, they further imposed
unnecessary retributions on any person who dared to celebrate Christmas in the
slightest. Not only were traditional expressions of merriment strictly forbidden, but

arrested for preaching on Christmas day (Schnepper). A man named Blue Richard
Culmer is notoriously known for busting the stain glass windows of a church for

wrong on all levels. People faced prison sentences, fines, and extreme harassment for
celebrating. This was all completed at the notion of simply enjoying Christmas. The

time, Kevin Rudd, presented a speech directed towards the Stolen Generation . This
extract addresses the horrific losses that the Indigenous community has endured in
the recent past, acknowledging the mistreatment and offering stories of the abuse.
In the context of an influential speech, the correct use of language is essential. When
attempting to persuade listeners to agree with them, speakers must use a particular
type of vocabulary, known as emotive language, to evoke certain emotions within the
listeners. Emotive language often uses words that would be categorized as biased,
and in a way, manipulates onlookers to feel sympathetic towards the speaker.... Show

Not only does this technique reinforce clarity, but it also emphasizes the point that is
being discussed. Throughout the speech, Rudd continues to use words such as sorry
and apologise , as a way of expressing his resentment towards what had happened in
the past. For example, the word sorry is used at the start of many sentences, in
which, these sentences are all of the same format. Rudd begins each of these
phrases with a single word, in this case, the word is sorry , then continues to justify
his argument, finishing each sentence off with a reason for his use of the repeated
word. He also structures his sentences in a way that is easier to be heard, keeping
any sentence that uses the repetition technique short. Sorry for the physical
suffering... Sorry for the tragedy, the absolute tragedy, of childhoods lost... Sorry
for all these injustices to you... . By repeating these keywords, the message Rudd is
trying to deliver will stick in people s minds a lot more than if he were only to say

Essay On Hero Is A Hero
A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure, in
spite of overwhelming obstacles. This quote, stated by Christopher Reed, best
defines a hero in the simplest terms. A hero is someone whose job is to put others
safety before their own and show perseverance in tough situations, even if they do not
always get the recognition for it.
Heroes choose to put others before themselves, and are willing to sacrifice their own
lives, for the benefit of others. A great example of a herodisplaying these
characteristics would be Welles Crowther, also known as, the man in the red

Heroes are persistent through their challenges, they don t waver in their
determination nor shirk their duties, however difficult they are. Frederick
Douglass is a perfect example of persistence through adversity. Douglass managed
to escape from pre civil war era slavery, making it to freedom in New York City.
When Douglass first arrived, he was lonely, and terrified of being captured again.
Despite his fears, he {has}, been engaged in pleading the cause of my brethren,
with what success and with what devotion, I leave those acquainted with my
labors to decide. Douglass stated, in his autobiography, The Narrative of the Life
of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave. It took extreme perseverance to make
it all the way from Baltimore, where he lived as a slave, to New York City while in
hiding. Despite living in terror of being captured and returned to slavery, he
decided to share his journey with the world through his book! A second example of
heroes being persistent through tough times is displayed in the recently released

Percutaneous Medical Image And Ultrasound Image
1.INTRODUCTION
1.1 Objectives
It has been proved that ultrasound imaging is the main and primary device that is
used as guidance for percutaneous medical procedures (Gray 2006). However, poor
needle tip localization needs to be solved. Also, localize the needle tip in deep
locations (`Cheung Rohling 2004) and slope insertion angles (Edgombe Hocking
2010). Enhancing the needle visibility will lead to decrease procedures failure.
Mohammad mentioned that in his studies in 2013, an ultrasound actuated needle with
a transducer can be visualized under ultrasound colour Doppler mode, which also,
can reduce the force during needle penetration process. However, the validity of the
actuating needle in this study needs to be proved.

2.1 Background
There are many clinical practices which involve skin percutaneous diagnosis and
therapies. A thin tool such needle, catheter, tissue ablation probe etc, is inserted
into a tissue to reach a target (Abolhassani et al., 2006). Take a biopsy from (breast,
kidney, and liver), nerve block, drug delivery and blood sampling, are some
applications of percutaneous needle procedures (Bishoff et al. 1998). The accuracy
of needle insertion determines the efficiency of a percutaneous diagnosis or therapy
(Youk et al., 2007). According to Abolhassani et al., (2006), the type of application
or procedure determines the required accuracy of the procedures. For example,
biopsy, anaesthesia, and brachytherapy, are required accuracy of millimetres while in
other producers such as eye, brain, ear, and foetus are required much higher accuracy
in nanometres. According to Kohn et al., (2000), the target could be in the millimetre
neighbourhood of another organ, nerve or vessel. Hence, needle insertion producers

This strategic orientation can be clearly characterized by a number of factors.
* Increase total sales from profit made in countries outside of the home country *
Extends current and existing product line into other countries * Organization
structure remains more or less the same
These characteristics were prevalent in La Bella s original business strategy.
Chandeliers were manufactured in Italy and then sold outside of the domestic market.
However, due to the numerous economic crises, they were forced to change their
strategic orientation. La Bella did not use the global model (standardized products);
instead, they moved to a multinational orientation (tailored products).
A multinational strategic orientation is implemented when there is a low need for
global integration, but a high need for local responsiveness. This orientation can be
distinguished by a number of attributes:
* A product line that is altered to suit local markets * To target markets that vary
between countries * Autonomous * Decision making is decentralized * Regiocentric
or polycentric staffing (employing host country nationals)
It can be observed that these very characteristics contributed to La Bella s failure.
Polycentric and regiocentric staffing approaches are often advantageous, as locals
understand the local market best; they know local preferences better and can make
decisions can perform accordingly

In this letter, Letter to the King and Queen of Spain, the narrator described his
exploration to find and explore the New World. The explorer described in detail to
the King and Queen of Spain his findings during his years.
I therefore resolves to apply to your Highness, to inform you of all the wonderful
events that I had experienced, and to explain the reason of every proposition that I
made, making reference to the nations that I had seen, among whom, and by whose
instrumentality, many souls may be saved.
In this quote the captain explains his reasoning for writing this letter to the Queen
and King of Spain. Knowing that the king and queen were not supportive of his
decision to sail across the world, he believed that within this piece he could shed a
new light on their views. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now that this letter has been discovered and is studied by people all over the
world, the explores message has really made him one of the great explores in
history. Not only is the explore motivated to get this letter in the hands of the king
and queen, he is determined to show them that they were wrong for doubting him
and that once they come to realize all of the wonderful things he saw and
conquered, they will be praising him for his findings. The explorer wrights this
letter in a detailed manor so that when the king and queen receive the letter they
will be impressed by it length, typically when letters are longer that means that they
have more information and have a greater importance to what is being said. This
long letter illustrates his many adventures that were very important to himself and
to the people that are going to hear about his discoveries. Overall, the purpose of
this letter, from the perspective of an outsider, is to brag and talk himself up. By
him talking himself up, he is being biased and could be deemed as unreliable.

The Aztecs And The Aztec Empire
Mesoamerica was once a place filled with growing, ruthless empires and civilizations,
although not one was like the Aztecs and their empire. Although they started off with
a humble beginning, they quickly grew into a great civilization that dominated
present day Central Mexico. They conquered and expanded into an empire stronger
than the other neighboring empires. The heart of the Aztecempire, Tenochtitlan, was a
grand capital filled with many people and astounding temples. The Aztecs were also
ahead of their time with fully functional government and irrigation systems. They
continue to astound many historians with their diverse way of life. They impacted
the way of life for many people today with their customs and ways of life.
Throughout the years, the Aztecs were able to grow and prosper with their sufficient
supply of agriculture and blessed fertile lands of the Mexican Valley, and
demonstrated to be an important part of Mexican heritage. Because of their history,
unique culture, and beautiful architecture, the Aztec Civilization truly is one of
Mesoamerica s most influential early empires.
The Aztec Empire has the history of a fast growing empire destined to dominate
Mesoamerica s empires. Although their exact origins are unclear, experts believe the
Aztecs evolved from a tribe of nomadic hunters (History 1). They conquered nearly
all of Mesoamerica, creating an empire stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to the
Pacific Ocean and south to present day Guatemala (Mcdowell
Le ChГўtelier And The Franco-Prussian War
As mentioned prior, in 1907, Le ChГўtelier was elected to the French Academy of
Sciences, where most of his work was dedicated to directing his students research
work at the Sorbonne and the Г‰cole des Mines (where he worked as a professor).
In an incredible opportunity, Le ChГўtelier due to his position, and respect given
from his colleagues and achievements, he was chosen as a scientific perspective
within many government committee meetings concerned with such issues, such as
the manufacture of explosive materials and military equipment (his experience within
the Franco Prussian War was a great advantage). This position in the French
government allowed him to preview and sit through many plans regarding France s
attacks and military nuclear

  • 3. The Symbol of Blood in William Shakespeare s Macbeth... The Symbol of Blood in William Shakespeare s Macbeth Blood represents life, death and often injury. It is an essential part of life, and without blood, we could not live. In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood to represent treachery, murder and death. The word blood , or different forms of it, appear numerous times throughout the play. Interestingly, the symbol of blood changes throughout the play, corresponding to the atmosphere and mood changes in the characters and the play. First, blood is a reference of honor, and this occurs when Duncan sees the injured sergeant and says, What bloody man is that? (1.2.1). Right before killing Duncan, Macbeth sees a dagger floating in the air leading him to Duncan?s room and he sees on the blade and dudgeon gouts of blood (2.1.58), indicating that the knife has been viciously stabbed into someone. When Banquo states and question this most bloody piece of work (2.3.150), and Ross asks is?t known who did this more than bloody deed? (2.4.31), they are both inquiring as to who performed the treacherous acts upon Duncan. When Macbeth is speaking about Malcolm and Donalbain, he refers to them as bloody cousins A final way, and perhaps the most vivid use of the symbol blood, is of the theme of guilt. First Macbeth hints at his guilt when he says Will all great Neptune?s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? Background Information And Data Exploration Essay Background Information and Data Exploration The data set our group chose to analyze looks at alcohol consumption for students in Portugal given a set of demographic, familial, academic and social characteristics. With this data set in particular, it is important to note that in Portugal, the legal drinking age is sixteen years old and most of the participants in the data set are of legal drinking age. One hundred ninety five participants out of one thousand forty four total participants, or 18.68%, are underage. The data set was extremely clean, as there were no missing values in the data set. Examples of the variables provided were: sex, age, address (urban v. rural), parental status (together v. apart), mother s education, father s education, guardianship, travel time to school, study time, number of classes failed, school support, extracurricular support, etc. Of all the provided variables, the three variables that our group chose to remove from our data set were school, reason and weekend alcohol consumption. The variable school only told the reader, whether the student attended Gabriel Pereira or Mousinho da Silveira. As a group, we justify removing this variable in order to make our findings more applicable to the general population, and not just those students who attended either of the two schools. The other variable we removed was reason. This variable represents the reason that the student attended the school that he or she did, whether it be reputation or the
  • 9. A Raisin In The Sun By Lorraine Hansberry The chasing of a mirage is a futile quest where an individual chases an imaginary image that he or she wants to capture. The goal of this impossible quest is in sight, but it is unattainable. Even with the knowledge that failure is inevitable, people still dream of catching a mirage. There is a fine line that separates those who are oblivious to this fact, and to those who are aware and accept this knowledge. The people who are oblivious represent those who are ignorant of the fact that their dream will be deferred. This denial is the core of the concept used in A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. The perception of the American Dream is one that is highly subjective, but every individual dream ends in its own deferment. During the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beneatha, Lena s daughter, is also put together to represent the inevitability of living like one of the lower class. She says that, George looks good he s got a beautiful car and takes me to nice places.. (Hansberry 49) While this quote defines Beneatha s acceptance of George s privileged life, it is said with a shadow of jealousy. According to Freydberg, a writer and author, this establishes the class differences between the Youngers and the Murchisons. This new fine line that separates the upper and lower class creates individual characteristics that define each class. Darwin Turner, an honored African American who taught at the University of Iowa, asserted that even though the blacks and whites have similar character traits and similar values, they are ambivalent about social interrelationships. These two races are truly self defining, and the inequality between these two ethnicities proves it. With Beneatha s apparent jealousy for the life of the upper class, the text

  • 12. India s The Indian State The Indian state, while ostensibly secular, nevertheless has institutionally always been set up to intervene in religious affairs. The Indian constitution enshrines the right to individual freedom of religion, [but] also empowers the state to intervene in Hindu religious institutions. (Sen 16) The constitution, for instance, calls on the state to ban untouchability, an abhorrent Hindu practice, establishing affirmative action to help certain disadvantaged religious groups and puts in place separate personal laws for different religious groups. (Sen 16) These policies allow institutions like the government, and the courts to intervene in communal issues, making the government a player in conflicts like the Babri Masjid. The Congress party, while a secular party, was consequently involved in decision making that would favour either the Hindus or the minorities. Indias Supreme Court was also involved in legislating on religious affairs. As Sen writes, India s version of secularism can be traced back to the debates in the Constituent Assembly, where the constitution was drafted in the late 1940s. The Assembly saw a lot of debate over what form this secularism would take. There were several voices in the Assembly, including that of B.R. Ambedkar, who wanted to severely restrict the role of religion in the public sphere. Hence, scientist K.T. Shah raised the demand that there be an article expressly stating that the Indian state has no concern with any religion, creed or

This period of time was characterised by big power hungry monopolies, the downfall of colonialism, devastating outbreaks of cholera and typhoid, and most importantly the rejection of old world traditions. During this time of change, In 1914 Robert Frostpublished his poem Mending Wall. The poem is literally about the speaker and his neighbour repairing a wall that divides their property, but figuratively, this American classic embodies the spirit of a new age in American history. In the Mending Wall , Robert Frost uses the literary device of symbolism to express his theme of the destruction of old world tradition. The use of symbolism in the poem Mending Wall expresses the new age American way of thinking in contrast to the social tradition of the old world. In the poem, the speaker and his neighbour meat ritual every year in the spring to make repairs to the wall that divides them and their property. It could be argued that the holes in the wall are a symbol for the deterioration of old world traditions. The speaker says in regards to the holes in the wall No one has seen them made or heard them made, But at spring mending time we find them there. Everything will erode with time. Each group used a light microscope to observe thirteen slides of organic materials (listed with the appended images). Another similar example that has been growing recently is social media. Instead of flipping on the news stations, it is just as popular now for individuals to look up information on the internet. Herbert Hoover Herbert Hoover is one of America s most forgotten presidents and is at the bottom of the list when it comes to polls ranking chief executives of the United States. Herbert Hoover was born on the 10th of August 1874 in West Branch, Iowa. He grew up in Oregon and was one of the first students to attend Stanford University when it opened in 1891. Hoover graduated from Stanford with a major in geology and utilized his education to start a career as a mining engineer. People do not easily remember Hoover and he is often overlooked when it comes to U.S. history textbooks. When people speak of Herbert Hoover, they most likely remember him as an economic Satan , as his Presidency occurred during the first four years of the Great Depression. Hoover served as the thirty first president of the United States from 1929 to 1933. Before becoming President, he married Lou Henry, on February 10, 1899. The couple honeymooned in China where Hoover ended up taking a job as a mining consultant. Shockingly enough, Hoover built a successful career as lead engineer for a private mining corporation that worked for the Chinese emperor. For a month of time that the Hoovers lived in China, their settlement was under heavy fire during the Boxer Rebellion. During this rebellion, Hoover helped his local community by building barricades around their city and even risked his life by saving Chinese children. • 26. The Importance Of Religion In The Workplace There are many questions that arise when there is talk about religion in the workplace. In the United States, religion is a very controversial issue. The United States is one of the most religiously diverse countries in the world. It is known to recognize at least 1500 religions. The EEOC requires employers to Reasonably accommodate an employee s religious beliefs or practices unless doing so would cause more than a minimal burden on the operations of the employer s business. This means an employer may be required to make reasonable adjustments to the work environment that will allow an employee to practice his or her religion(Saltarelli, 2013). Everyone has the freedom to exercise their right to choose and practice any religion they want, says the first amendment. Religion in the workplace is ethical, and it is important among employees and should be taken seriously by their employers. I will argue from the utilitarianism theory, that religion in the workplace is ethical and should be allowed in all workplaces as long as the employees follow workplace policies and practices. I will contrasthis view with that of ethical egoism perspective, which would argue that religion in the workplace is ethical and it allows employees to promote their own happiness and by allowing them to practice their religious belief while in the workplace freely. Though The House of The Spirits is set in rural South America (no particular country is specified) and not rural Spain, the society described in the novel is very similar to that in The House of Bernarda Alba. Again, the characters live in a society dominated and controlled by men with distinctive social class separations and with the Catholic Church wielding great power and influence over the people. The story spans three generations of the Trueba family who are all greatly affected by the societal influences. As society changes, the characters also change as old pressures disappear and new pressures emerge. As was characteristic of rural societies throughout Europe and Latin America at the time of these literary works, the Catholic Church played a profound role in the lives of people. Its influence was so prevalent because it was the common link between people of all social classes. In The House of Bernarda Alba , there are many examples of religion s great influence and significant role in the lives of the characters. • 30. The Approach Of The Software Artifact Summarization Paradigm Our approach consists of following steps. First, we collected a corpus of code fragments, containing 127 code fragments, extracted directly from the Eclipse and NetBeans Official FAQs. Second, we hired human annotators to suggest summary lines i.e., Gold Summary Lines (annotation). Third, we introduced crowdsourcing (data driven) as a problem solving model in software artifact summarization paradigm, as it had not been employed before for software artifact summarization, for extracting code features. Fourth, we trained two classifiers namely Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Naive Bayes (NB) on code fragments. Next, we evaluated the effectiveness of these classifiers on different statistical measures such as Accuracy, Precision, Recall, F Score, True Positive Rate (TPR), False Positive Rate (FPR), Receiver Operator Characteristic (ROC), and Area under curve (AUC). In the end, we performed feature selection analysis to rank and determine the importance of selected features. In the sections below, we discuss these steps one by one. 5.2.1 Corpus Creation We need a corpus of code fragments to train and judge the effectiveness of our classifiers. Optimally, such a corpus would have been made available before or created by experts in the field of code fragment summarization. Previously, Ying et al. The Value of a Liberal Education In today s society we view education as many things, but among the many views and opinions of education there are two major views we see that stand out, education is a right for all and education is necessary only for finding a successful career. To be more exact, it is a college education that is or should be available to all and is only necessary for securing a successful job. But before we even begin to think about a job or whether we want to pursue our God given right to higher educationwe must first start our journey at the bottom of the educational system. In our lives we all start our journey through educationin the same place, the bottom of the educational system. For some this can mean something along the lines such as pre school, private tutoring, or home schooling. We eventually work our way up going through kindergarten, elementary school, junior high, and then eventually high school. After high school we are than left two choices, enter directly into the work force, or pursue a higher education. Say we chose to pursue a higher education and go to college; we then have to make another decision, do I want go directly into a certain profession and pursue a degree for that career, or do I want expand my virtues and pursue a liberal education. For now, let us delve into the subject that is a liberal education. The beginning of liberal education spans as far back as to the time of the great Greek philosophers like Aristotle and Plato, as Chuck E. Taylor describes in

Iago skillfully capitalizes on the situation by developing his attack further: She did deceive her father, marrying you (3.3.220). Othello begins to see Iago s reasoning: if she could deceive her father, she could just as easily deceive her new husband. Once Othello s bliss has been decimated, Iago concentrates on weakening Othello s perception of himself; Iago very carefully and very tactfully chooses words and metaphors that subconsciously pit Othello against the Venetians. Othello begins to perceive himself as an outsider in his own country, a malignant and turbaned Turk (5.2.365). A fruitful marriage with a Venetian woman becomes out of the question in Othello s mind. As settlers to the new land were escaping the grasp of the British monarchy, they brought with them new religious, cultural, and fundamental ideals. Among these ideals is a rather peculiar belief. Would you believe that the Puritans were against celebrating Christmas? Yes, it seems odd for such a pure Christian society to oppose the celebration of their Savior s birth; they even banned it! Accordingly, the fact that the Puritans were opposed to the Christmas holiday is absurd. First and foremost, the Puritans viewed Christmas as a holiday that was observed with more revelry than piety and in that regard was not proper in the eyes of the Lord. It was in their eyes a commercial celebration rather than that of actually celebrating the birth of Jesus. In the context of an influential speech, the correct use of language is essential. When attempting to persuade listeners to agree with them, speakers must use a particular type of vocabulary, known as emotive language, to evoke certain emotions within the listeners.
