taken these rights for granted, however, by learning about the limited rights and freedoms offered
in a sovereign country, North Korea, I have learned to appreciate these rights. Through watching
the documentaries, I had learned that rights and freedoms in our Charter that we see as
fundamental are not present in various countries such as North Korea. Given this, I have come to
realize how lucky I am to have these rights that are protected by a Charter and begun to appreciate
having these rights. Citizens can protect their Charter rights by learning specifically what rights
and freedoms are protected in order to present to other their constitutional rights should they try to
violate them. As well, if the rights are violated, citizens can take a case to court in order to be
compensated for the violation.

This piece of artwork is created to represent a message, but speaks so much more on a deeper
level. For example, the piece speaks to deeper level because of the first fact that Selma Burke
background began as an artist that spoke for the African Americanculture. At the time she was
advocating for African Americans she also was a practicing artist and teacher.
This piece in particular is very sentimental to the Hill District which is located in Pittsburgh,
because it was hung on the wall of the Hill Association for a period of time starting in the year of

criticisms. So when someone writes a book they know it will not please everyone. However, do
