How Technology Has Transformed Global Capital Markets Into...
In The Fourth Paradigm, prominent computer scientists set forward a new data intensive approach to
scientific inquiry that has emerged from the digital age and illustrate how science must overhaul its
present cyberinfrastructure in order to exploit this revolution. A hurdle in commissioning new
scientific data extraction tools has been that unlike the commercial world, most scientific data doesn t
have high enough economic value to fuel more rapid development . No field more explicitly
exemplifies the dichotomy than finance, where information is simply a means to profit. Extracting
actionable information before competitors can be readily monetized through stock trading, and the
pursuit of these informational edge has fueled developments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Most trading is no longer done in person, or even by a person. Up from 0% in 1995, more than 70% of
stock transactions in US equity markets are done by autonomous computer based trading algorithms
[2, 3]. Referred to as high frequency traders (HFT), these consist of machines programmed by
mathematicians that trade stocks with strategies not derived from conventional investing theory, but
by earning fractions of cents at a time identifying random imbalances across the market many times a
second. Despite being an established practice, HFTs are not foolproof and generally earn money on
just over 51% of executed trades [58]. Although such methods may initially not seem lucrative,
enormous volumes of trades HFT s perform make such strategies consistently profitable in the long
run ( law of large numbers) and accumulate earnings of pennies into substantial amounts [45]. In
2009, despite only accounting for 2% of Wall Street firms, high frequency traders made estimated
aggregate profits of $7.2 billion dollars [4]. The complex algorithms implemented in HFT s are not
necessarily better strategists than humans, but are able to capitalize on momentary profit opportunities
that exist for much less than 650 milliseconds the shortest time frame a human being can make an
informed decision [5]. As of today, the fastest an HFT can input, analyze, and execute a trade is 740

The Importance of Nutrition and Sleeping Habits In The Classroom
Having good nutrition and sleeping habits is very important for education. It is important for children
and adolescents to perform well in the classroom so that they get the most out of their education.
Having poor sleeping habits or poor eating habits can have many harmful effects on a child s
classroom performance. If children have good eating habits as well as good sleeping habits they will
perform better and be able to live up to their potential.
Good nutrition is very important for children in all areas of their life but it is a key factor in how they
perform in the classroom. One study showed that taller more healthy children have higher levels of

School meals are now being made healthier so that children can practice good nutrition skills.
Children of all socioeconomic levels are at risk for poor nutrition. Some children do not get enough to
eat each day because their families lack money to buy sufficient food. Other children consume enough
food but have diets high in fat, sugar, and sodium that put them at risk for obesity or heart disease and
other chronic illnesses ( ). These poor diets can harm a child s classroom performance and impede
their learning ability. Poor nutrition among children in America is on the rise. This is due, in part, to
poor eating habits like skipping meals, overeating, working parents eating on the run, and fast food
establishments ( ). These factors not only cause a child health problems but also impedes their
learning. If a child cannot use his cognitive abilities to the fullest it will be harder to learn, participate
in class, and function properly throughout the day. Inadequate nutrition affects the long term
development of the child ( ). This could be detrimental to a child all the way into adulthood. Poor
eating habits could persist into college and then hinder them from being as productive as they could

Traffic Congestion At Janta Crossing Essay
 For last four year, We are known about traffic congestion at Janta crossing which is at Vidhya nagar

 Reason behind it have many key features are there which are
1) Tirupati HP petrol pump
2) SBI bank (branch of GIDC)
3) ELECON group
4) Vegetable market
5) GIDC main entry road
6) AMAR Maruti car show room and service station

people don t reach on time to their destination to solve this problem we have selected this project.
Which cause many flow of vehicles in different direction at once.
 Traffic congestion is no fun for anyone, but it s deadly for public transport. When buses and trams
are stuck in traffic jams they fall behind schedule and, because this means that more people will be
waiting at the next stops, they fall even further behind schedule leading to bunching and compounding
delays. Bunched buses and delays make public transport unattractive for customers and increase
operational costs, so congestion impacts on public transport must be eliminated whenever possible.

My Experience As A Non-Traditional College Student
Seneca once noted that Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind. To me, that sums up
study abroad beautifully. To study abroad means to experience not just new foods and sights, but
different ways of learning and comprehending. Mark Twain said that Travel is fatal to prejudice,
bigotry, and narrow mindedness. In order to be successful in any field, it is important to devoid one s
self of these vices. What better way than to jump feet first into a completely different culture?
As a first generation university student, I have had to face many prejudices and much
narrowmindedness. Some from others, some of my own. As a non traditional student, I have had to
overcome the personal mentality that I am too old to go back to school and the judgements of Oh, you
re still in school? While for others these may have served as obstacles, I have chosen to use them as
tools to persevere and pursue dreams that I thought were long buried. Aptly, I am going into

Psychology And The Theory Of Psychology
Psychology in a continuously growing tree with its roots stemming from the study of reality and
knowledge known as philosophy first studied by ancient Greece (Wiley 8). It can be defined as the
study of behaviours and mental processes in which behaviours are observable activities, and mental
processes include all internal thoughts and emotions. Psychologists often have one (or more) of four
goals in mind when they conduct research: describing, explaining, predicting, or controlling (5 6).
Many great thinkers profoundly influenced psychology including Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow,
Sigmund Freud and many others (Vickers).Various people throughout history contributed to different
approaches and belief systems. A few examples of these systems are: structuralism focusing on mental
processes, psychoanalysis focusing on the unconscious mind, behaviourism focusing on the
unconscious mind (Vickers). Although there are many belief systems, modern psychologists share
similar procedures and values known as the empirical method (Vickers). Psychology is theory driven,
seeks evidence, multi leveled, and contextual, unlike philosophy which relies heavily on unproven
beliefs, psychology aims to discover scientific information. Psychologists approach ideas using the
scientific method based on Sir Francis Bacon s emphasis on minimizing bias (Wiley 29). They create
hypotheses which according to Karl Popper must establish observations that could be refutable (30).

The Reactions to the Death of Addie Bundren through William Faulkner s
As I Lay Dying. The author of As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner, really contributes to the aspects of
literature through his ability to tell a seemingly incredible story through only the stream of
consciousness technique. Faulkner takes his insight beyond the piece, through other s views and
thoughts. Although the characters might be acting differently upon each subject or handling each
action in opposite ways, the tone and theme that he uses really brings the whole piece to a perfect
balance. In As I Lay Dying, Faulkner displays contradicting elements through the reactions of the
family members towards the mother s death with the use of dialogue, tone, imagery, and internal
conflict. When speculating about the only female character, in regards to the mother, it is evident that
a predictable aspect will be found in Dewey Dell for she carries the female qualities in the story. This
statement in As I Lay Dying, Ma, Dewey Dell says; ma! (Faulkner 48) was the first reaction made by
any of the characters towards the death of the mother, and it came from Dewey Dell. Reasons for this
could be the sexist factor that she is a girl, so her reaction will be more emotionally projected than that
of the male characters. However, the aspect of Dewey Dell not being able to let go of her mother can
also play a role in her reaction. This idea is expressed through ...the fan is still moving like it has for

Vitamin D And Calcium.vitamin D Essay
Bone Health, Calcium and Vitamin D
My research of the vitamin or mineral will be based on vitamin D and Calcium.Vitamin D is a fat
soluble vitamin, which means it is stored in the body s fatty tissue, normally is obtained through
exposure to sunlight, which triggers vitamin D production in the skin is found naturally in very few
foods but in the United States, it is routinely added to milk and infant formula. Other right food
sources are egg yolks and some types of fish such as salmon and mackerel and is also available in
nutritional supplements. Vitamin D allows your body to absorb calcium which is necessary for
building strong, healthy bones, without enough vitamin D and calcium, bones may not form properly
in childhood and can lose mass, become weak, and break easily in adulthood. Even if you obtain
enough calcium in your diet, your body will not absorb it, if you don t secure enough vitamin D.
You can load up on calcium from plenty of different kinds of food. For example, add some dairy to
your diet, such as milk, cheese, and yogurt. Or try veggies like broccoli, kale, and Chinese cabbage.
Some foods, like orange juice or cereal, are calcium fortified, which means the nutrient is added in by
the manufacturer before you buy it.
Bone is a living tissue that is constantly breaking down and being replaced. Throughout life, our body
balances the loss of bone with the creation of new bone. We reach our highest bone mass at about age
30.

Health Care Industry Analysis Paper
The health care industry consists of several industries that provide services to private and business
consumers. In 1886, Robert, James and Edward Johnson created a company that has since
revolutionized the creation and production of healthcare products for all ailments. From their
formation in a New Jersey garage, to operating in over 60 countries worldwide, Johnson Johnson
comprises more than 250 companies and employs nearly 200,000 worldwide (Johnson Johnson

resource for providing healthcare products to consumers throughout the world.
In the event of an emergency, readily available kits did not exist with emergency response items,
however, Johnson Johnson became the first company to provide first aid kits to the public back in
1888 (Gurowitz, 2013). Johnson Johnson introduced a line of maternity products back in 1894,
designed to help women during childbirth; which was also another industry first (Johnson Johnson

Using A Polymer As A Material For Carbon Dioxide

ENG 199 HW#3: Simplified Literature Review on Research Topic
My research involves the synthesizing polyamine starting from readily available building blocks
namely ethylene and carbon monoxide and then using that to capture carbon dioxide, an undesirable
greenhouse gas which contributes to global warming, from industrial processes. Currently, liquid
amines are used industrially and while they are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very
recyclable, and degrade quickly. The novel use of a polymer as a material for this purpose could solve
many of these issues.
I chose three articles to review to get a better understanding of the current work being done in the
field. The first, Absorbent Materials for Carbon Dioxide Capture from Large Anthropogenic Point
Sources by Christopher Jones gives an overview of materials currently being used to capture carbon
dioxide what I am attempting to do with polyamine. The second, Steam Stripping for Regeneration of
Supported Amine Based CO2 Adsorbents, also by Jones, is a communications that discusses
regeneration of the amine once it has been used for carbon dioxide capture. The third by Maschmeyer
entitled The Reductive Amination of Aldehydes and Ketones and the Hydrogenation of Nitriles:
Mechanistic Aspects and Selectivity Control relates to the reaction I am doing (reductive amination of
a polyketone). Furthermore, a review article will be particularly good for my purposes because it will

European Integration Essay
After the tragedies of World War II, European leaders have made striving efforts to prevent such a
catastrophic event from occurring on their continent again. The best solution seemed to be highly
mechanized cooperation among the highest European powers to assure that future conflict, and
perhaps war, could not arise between them. If all the states ran themselves in a manner cooperating
with their neighbors, conflict could be avoided. To prevent other nations from not cooperating, treaties
and institutions would have to be designed for each area of international interest such as trade,
communications, security, and so forth. As the century progressed, more organizations, institutions

If both benefit the most in cooperating, as is the case in the prisoner s dilemma, they will both
cooperate, and peace will be maintained . This basic liberal assumption of the importance of
individual gains is the main support for European integration. If all states cooperate in all arenas,
leading to a collectively sovereign Europe , the individual gains of each state will be adequate enough
to avoid conflict among themselves making it easier to approach the rest of the international system
together peacefully.
In the event of an integrated Europe, constructivists recognize that to completely avoid conflict, each
state will have to succumb to a European identity and all individual identities will have to become
merely cultural gems within the European system. This, they argue, can be achieved with the success
of several steps including economic, judicial, and security integration . The first step has already been
attempted with the establishment of the Euro, the common European currency, which has been
outperformed by its monetary competitors. A great amount of trust will have to be secured between
states before a common court or army can be established, and most likely with as little success as the
common currency. So, even by these simplified guidelines the outlook for the creation of a new

Essay about Summary of History of Graphic Design by Meggs
Chapter 1: The Invention of Writing
From the early Paleolithic to the Neolithic period (35,000 BC to 4,000 BC), early Africans and
Europeans left paintings in caves, including the
Lascaux caves in Southern France.
Early pictures were made for survival and for utilitarian and ritualistic purposes. Petroglyphs are

Chinese is thought to have been invented by Tsang Chieh, who was inspired to invent writing after
studying the claw marks of birds.
Chinese characters are logograms meaning that each character represents an entire word (like $ =
dollar).
Paper, a Chinese invention, is attributed with the high government official
Ts ai Lun.
Ts ai Lun s method of making paper was unchanged until nineteenth century England.
After the invention of paper, the Chinese also began to use it for wrapping presents, wallpaper,
napkins and toilet paper.
Printing was invented by the Chinese.
The first method of printing was block printing, using stamps.
Rubbings were also made by carving words into stone, then inking the stone and making a print on a
piece of paper. This is also known as relief printing. The oldest surviving printed manuscript is the
Diamond Sutra.
Around 1000AD, paper money was printed.
An early form of Chinese graphic design was playing cards.
In 1045 AD, Chinese alchemist Pi Sheng developed movable type, using clay and glue.
Because types are not moveable, characters were organized by rhyme.
Moveable type never replaced the handcut woodblock of the orient.
The invention of paper and printing arrived in Europe just as the
Renaissance began.

An Essay About Eleanor Roosevelt
Do what you feel in your heart to be right for you ll be criticized anyway. You ll be damned if you do,

She was a woman trying to speak up for those that did not have a voice, fearing they would be
criticized for speaking up. She continued in her selfless journey of helping others, even more so when
she became married to Franklin Roosevelt, the future president. During his time as president, Eleanor
became even more influenced in the lives of others as she helped Eleanor Roosevelt, an inspiring
woman that helped many while performing the part of First Lady, started out with a rough life but

Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 to a proud mother, who later would be too ashamed
to even look at her. Her mother was Anna Halls Roosevelt, an outstanding beauty and figure of grace
in their society, and Eleanor was just not. She was reminded of this daily as her mother would always
call her granny meaning back then too plain. Though she never let it show, it had always affected her,
making her extremely self conscience. She would feel this way until she grew older and finally gained

The Star of Bethlehem Essay
It is commonly thought the star of Bethlehem rose in the east and continued brightly as the wise men
followed the star to Bethlehem. Recent evidence has shown this is not the case. Key evidence shown
in the Bible reveals nine specific characteristics this star needs for it to be the true star of Bethlehem.
Beyond these, there are questions about the star and those who witnessed the event that need to be
answered. These questions include: Who were the wise men? How did they know what the star
meant? And how can a star stop? The first three of the nine points state what the star meant to the wise
men. When the wise men asked in Matthew 2:2 Where is the one who has been born King of the
Jews? This question implies the star indicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are clues within ancient documents and the bible leading toward the date. In the bible Herod is
alive at the time of the birth of Jesus. The most current documents place Herod s death around 4 B.C.
But, in the earliest of writings by Josephus, Herod s death is placed at 1 B.C. This change opens up
two years for us to look for the star. In the bible, it states from the wise men the star was the brightest
star. Common theories say the star could have been a comet, a meteor, a nova, and a host of others.
Comets are in fact very bright, but in the ancient times comets were regarded as omens of doom and
destruction. God would not have used a negative to signify the birth of Christ when he wanted Christ
to be received in a joyous manner. The star could not have been a meteor because they shoot across
the sky and do not stop. Also, meteors do not last long in the sky, thus failing to suffice for the nine
points of the star. The latter is also same for a nova; they do not endure over time. The fact that Herod
needed to ask what the sign was and when it appeared shows us that it needed to be a common
appearance in the sky, or something not very noticeable. When each of these criteria are factored into
the equation, very interesting result come about. What to my wondering eyes should appear? But a
star named Jupiter and Regulus together! In the year 3 B.C. the regular twelve year crossing of Jupiter

Procedure Of Completing The Tender
Once the contracting company has been selected through a single or two stage tender. The procedure
of completing the tender and actually getting the project is the next step. Tender process An invitation
to tender is a formal invitation to make an offer for the project There are several parts to form a tender
and to put in a bid to the client. In this section each part of the tender process would be explained in
detail. When it comes to tendering for a bid, it is important to understand that the different bidders that
have been invited to bid are submitting a contract, explaining why they would be perfect for the
project. The first information for a design and build tender would be defining the contract, giving
details of timescales for commencement and completion. By defining the contract, the company the
tender is sent to, will instantly know what the contract is about and have a brief idea of how they are
putting in a bid for it. When it comes to construction, timescale is very important. If a project is
delayed or starts late, the client is losing out on money and on a big project or on any project, you
want to save as much money as possible but still have the best result. So by giving details for the
commencement and completion of the project gives the client an idea when it would be done by and
they can decide if that is in the same timescale they d want the project done by. After defining the
contract, the contract conditions follow. The contract conditions

Macmillan, 2003. 2 April 2014 This book explains a lot about cheerleading and where it started and
how far it s gotten. This book will help me talk about the difference between sideline and competitive

started for the United States. This book has a lot of great information for me to use to talk about how
athletic cheerleading really is. The book goes in detail about male and female participation in
cheerleading. This is going to be great for my research because of all the information I am being

Consequences Of Betrayal In The Adventures Of Ulysses
Daymieri Narvaez
HR: 306
Oct. 12, 2017
Betrayal
Betrayal is the action of deception against one s country, group, or a person. This action is noted both
in novels and in the real world. The novel The Adventures of Ulysses by Bernard Evslin describes a
scene in which two men betray Ulysses by opening a bag of winds. In the real world, a man named
Edward Snowden betrays his country by revealing classified information he was entrusted with. The
two situations of betrayal are justified and not justified throughout the texts they are mentioned in. In
the novel, The Adventures of Ulysses, Ulysses was guarding a bag of winds given to him by Aeolus.
He stood awake day and night, protecting the bag from the wandering minds of his crew, but when his
eyes gave out, two men took their chances and opened the bag. Though, the consequences that the
whole crew experienced cost them dearly, they had reasons for doing this. Predominantly, the two men
were tricked by the god of the sea, Poseidon, to open the bag. The god made sounds of clicking
trinkets and it lured the men to open the bag since they were profoundly greedy and have been battling
in a war for ten years. On page 36 of the novel, it states, Then Poseidon, swimming invisibly
alongside, clinked his golden armlets. The men heard the clinking and thought it came from the bag.
This demonstrates that the trickery of Poseidon encouraged the men to open the bag since they were
vulnerable the sound of trinkets. Additionally, Ulysses never told his crew what the bag contained and
why they shouldn t open it. If he did, the whole situation could have been avoided. All the same,
Ulysses was a trusted man and leader. The two men who betrayed him should have known better than
to doubt that their leader wouldn t have shared if it were real gold. Primarily, Ulysses had been the one
making the right decisions all the time and has gotten his crew out of trouble when needed. On page
36, in the text, it states, It is true, said the first, that he has always been generous. He shared the spoils
of Troy. This testifies that Ulysses had never kept anything to himself, he always shared his riches
with his crew. Thus, the two men should have thought a bit more before

A Report On The Eb 5 Program
The EB 5 program is booming in popularity, driven largely by the U.S. economy in which developers
are searching for new sources of capital. It is also fueled by rising demand from foreigners looking for
access to U.S. schools, safe investment in U.S. projects and in the case of China, where most of the
investors are from greater freedom. The program has broad bipartisan support in Congress, and key
senators who are negotiating an overhaul of the immigration system have said they are leaning toward
expanding visa programs that provide an immediate boost to the economy. Supporters call the
program a no brainer, because it creates jobs and attracts investment. If you get highly skilled, highly
talented immigrants with money, who are paying and committing to things that are positive, I m
inclined to think it s terrific, former Treasury secretary Lawrence H. Summers said. Since the EB 5
program began in 1992, more than 29,000 people have received visas, foreigners have invested more
than $6.8 billion and 50,000 American jobs have been created, U.S. officials said. USCIS administers
the EB 5 Program. Under this program, entrepreneurs (and their spouses and unmarried children under
21) are eligible to apply for a green card (permanent residence) if they make the necessary investment
in a commercial enterprise in the United States. This program is known as EB 5 for the name of the
employment based fifth preference visa that participants receive. The immigrant investor,

The Education Of The Public Education
Abstract
Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) curriculum in schools is undergoing a
revolution in public education. This revolution is sparked by an increase in federal funding over the
last decade. Between the years of 2011 and 2015, the federal government alone invested between three
and 3.7 billion dollars yearly for STEM education (Johnson, 2012) (White House Office of Science
and Technology Policy, 2014) and new STEM educational instructional strategies (Bruce Dacis,
Gubbins, Gilson, Villanueva, Foreman, 2014). Despite these new investments and changes, many
students are neither enrolling nor excelling in STEM programming, particularly students of color
(Museus, Palmer, Davis, Maramba, 2011). Concurrently, many of the areas of greatest economic
opportunity exist in STEM related fields (National Research Council, 2011). In order to overcome the
opportunity gap that exists between White students and students of color, it is essential for schools and
districts to research and implement best practices related to STEM in classrooms. The practices must
not only be based in strong pedagogy and professional awareness, but also include culturally
responsive practices both within the classroom and the building (Johnson, Peters Burton, Moore,
2016)and development of STEM mentors both in and out of the classroom (Ware Stein, 2013).

immoral actions go without noticeable consequence. The people look up to royalty and believe their
power is above consequence. This sudden sending him away must seem/ Deliberate (4.3.8 9).
Claudius understands the love that the people have towards Hamlet and because of that, has to find a
way to get rid of Hamlet without provoking the people. Typically when someone is murdered, a
punishment is expected to be put in place in order to punish one for his or her crime. However, in
Hamlet s case, the people love him enough to overlook the fact that he killed Polonius. A bloody

Paner A Successful Company With A Bright Future
While I believe that Panera is a successful company with a bright future, I have a few
recommendations which I hope could help Panera further grow their business. I have included a plan
of action for each recommendation. I recommend that Panera open drive thru service in all of their
restaurants. They could provide drinks and pastries through the drive thru to customers on the go in
the morning. This would especially be beneficial during bad weather when consumers are leery of
leaving their vehicles. By providing this service Panera will be able to get more of a market share on
the morning commuters. To put this in action Panera should first analyze which of their buildings are
already situated with an outside wall that could accommodate a window and driving lane. Next Panera
should begin the training and construction needed at these stores. Panera should then evaluate any
necessary changes to other stores that are within malls, or come to the realization that a drive thru is
not an option without moving the stores. Those stores would be last to deal with. I recommend that
Panera partner with recording companies to create promotions which will help both Panera and the
recording industry. I think Panera would benefit from linking the customer rewards card with music
downloads on the internet. In order to do this Panera would need to meet with several recording
companies to obtain rights and to make a mutually beneficial agreement. After the agreement is in

My Grandpam My Grandma Is A Hero In My Life
In my life so far there has been one person that always supported my decisions; been warm while the
world was cold, and loving till I thought there was no love left. My grandma has been a hero in
disguise for as long as I can remember. Her creativity Inspires me, and her ability to teach others
makes me feel proud to call her my grandma. Since I was little, my grandma would babysit my sister
and I almost every weekend, making us food, playing board games, and watching movies. Spending
so much time with my grandma gave her plenty of opportunities to influence us and help us when we
needed it the most. We never thought of how lucky we were to have this figure in our lives, and how
much she impacted our futures. Creativity has been a big part of my family. Coming from a family of
musicians, craft fair workers, authors, and painters brings art to a whole new level. My grandma and I
always had an art form at all times; whether it was drawing or listening to music, it was always
present. From a young age I was taught some of my grandma s old hobbies like, basket weaving and
sewing. I still remember making my first pillow and not being able to reach the pedal to turn the
sewing machine on. I remember my grandma saying with a laugh, I ll get it. She held the pedal as
finished sewing my heart covered masterpiece. Even though at the moment I did not think it was a big
deal, but no I see it helped develop one of my hobbies. Which is upcycling. My first basket was more

Ramias and Wilkens state that the starting point in developing metrics is to understand the expectation
of the customer. Upon review of the data compiled by the PSI team, customers expect accuracy and
timeliness. Therefore, most of the metrics developed below focus on measuring the two expectations

Social Norms In Research
Social norms are people s beliefs about the attitudes and behaviors that are normal, acceptable or even
expected in a particular social context. In many situations people s perceptions of these norms will
greatly influence their behavior. When people misperceive the norms of their peer group that is, when
they inaccurately think an attitude or behavior is more (or less) common than is actually the case they
may choose to engage in behaviors that are in sync with those false norms.1 Pluralistic Ignorance is
the term that is used in academia to discuss social norms theory and refers to the incorrect belief that
one s private attitudes, judgments or behaviors are different from others. With regard to bullying,

Silas Marner Research Paper
Comparing The Three Fathers In Silas Marner
Silas Marner, is a book of great depth, considering many types of situations that people still find
themselves in today. It gives us an inner view on how people used cope with their troubles during the
period of the industrial revolution, be they minor or major ones. George Eliot reveals human nature
perceptively, humourously, and extremely intelligently. She is a brilliant writer, who is able to capture
our hearts throughout the book. She makes us laugh, smile and even cry, and her ability to do this
makes the book a great success. This book makes us aware that throughout the course of time, people
have not really changed their habits, and today, we see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the course of the book, we meet three fathers, two of whom are linked in a way that is
very important in the point of the story. One of these two fathers is Godfrey Cass, the son of one of the
richest men in Raveloe. On the way to take on his father s position, Godfrey was described as a fine,
open faced, good natured young man but if he was not careful, was on the way to losing the love of his
life and his sanity. Throughout the book, we see this perfect of him destroyed, and another side to him
is revealed to the readers. Godfrey does not really have the chance to show us how he would care for
his child. Being married to Molly Farren, and being the father of her child, puts him in an awkward
position, as he does not really want the responsibility of a child, and believed that by handing over a
sums of money to Silas, [the present guardian of his secret daughter Eppie] every so often, would
solve all of his problems. Some would say that even this small sign of care for the girl meant that he
was not such a bad father, although I would disagree. In this way, he is very much like his father. A
man with a big wallet but few morals. He took for granted what he had, and was prepared to stand
back and watch another man look after his child. It wasn t really until he found out that his new

  • 2. How Technology Has Transformed Global Capital Markets Into... In The Fourth Paradigm, prominent computer scientists set forward a new data intensive approach to scientific inquiry that has emerged from the digital age and illustrate how science must overhaul its present cyberinfrastructure in order to exploit this revolution. A hurdle in commissioning new scientific data extraction tools has been that unlike the commercial world, most scientific data doesn t have high enough economic value to fuel more rapid development . No field more explicitly exemplifies the dichotomy than finance, where information is simply a means to profit. Extracting actionable information before competitors can be readily monetized through stock trading, and the pursuit of these informational edge has fueled developments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most trading is no longer done in person, or even by a person. Up from 0% in 1995, more than 70% of stock transactions in US equity markets are done by autonomous computer based trading algorithms [2, 3]. Referred to as high frequency traders (HFT), these consist of machines programmed by mathematicians that trade stocks with strategies not derived from conventional investing theory, but by earning fractions of cents at a time identifying random imbalances across the market many times a second. Despite being an established practice, HFTs are not foolproof and generally earn money on just over 51% of executed trades [58]. Although such methods may initially not seem lucrative, enormous volumes of trades HFT s perform make such strategies consistently profitable in the long run ( law of large numbers) and accumulate earnings of pennies into substantial amounts [45]. In 2009, despite only accounting for 2% of Wall Street firms, high frequency traders made estimated aggregate profits of $7.2 billion dollars [4]. The complex algorithms implemented in HFT s are not necessarily better strategists than humans, but are able to capitalize on momentary profit opportunities that exist for much less than 650 milliseconds the shortest time frame a human being can make an informed decision [5]. As of today, the fastest an HFT can input, analyze, and execute a trade is 740 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

School meals are now being made healthier so that children can practice good nutrition skills. Children of all socioeconomic levels are at risk for poor nutrition. Some children do not get enough to eat each day because their families lack money to buy sufficient food. Other children consume enough food but have diets high in fat, sugar, and sodium that put them at risk for obesity or heart disease and other chronic illnesses ( ). These poor diets can harm a child s classroom performance and impede their learning ability. Poor nutrition among children in America is on the rise. This is due, in part, to poor eating habits like skipping meals, overeating, working parents eating on the run, and fast food establishments ( ). These factors not only cause a child health problems but also impedes their learning. If a child cannot use his cognitive abilities to the fullest it will be harder to learn, participate in class, and function properly throughout the day. Inadequate nutrition affects the long term development of the child ( ). This could be detrimental to a child all the way into adulthood. • 8. Psychology And The Theory Of Psychology Psychology in a continuously growing tree with its roots stemming from the study of reality and knowledge known as philosophy first studied by ancient Greece (Wiley 8). It can be defined as the study of behaviours and mental processes in which behaviours are observable activities, and mental processes include all internal thoughts and emotions. Psychologists often have one (or more) of four goals in mind when they conduct research: describing, explaining, predicting, or controlling (5 6). Many great thinkers profoundly influenced psychology including Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow, Sigmund Freud and many others (Vickers).Various people throughout history contributed to different approaches and belief systems. A few examples of these systems are: structuralism focusing on mental processes, psychoanalysis focusing on the unconscious mind, behaviourism focusing on the unconscious mind (Vickers). Although there are many belief systems, modern psychologists share similar procedures and values known as the empirical method (Vickers). Psychology is theory driven, seeks evidence, multi leveled, and contextual, unlike philosophy which relies heavily on unproven beliefs, psychology aims to discover scientific information. Psychologists approach ideas using the scientific method based on Sir Francis Bacon s emphasis on minimizing bias (Wiley 29). They create hypotheses which according to Karl Popper must establish observations that could be refutable (30). Unfortunately, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author of As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner, really contributes to the aspects of literature through his ability to tell a seemingly incredible story through only the stream of consciousness technique. Faulkner takes his insight beyond the piece, through other s views and thoughts. Although the characters might be acting differently upon each subject or handling each action in opposite ways, the tone and theme that he uses really brings the whole piece to a perfect balance. In As I Lay Dying, Faulkner displays contradicting elements through the reactions of the family members towards the mother s death with the use of dialogue, tone, imagery, and internal conflict. When speculating about the only female character, in regards to the mother, it is evident that a predictable aspect will be found in Dewey Dell for she carries the female qualities in the story. This statement in As I Lay Dying, Ma, Dewey Dell says; ma! (Faulkner 48) was the first reaction made by any of the characters towards the death of the mother, and it came from Dewey Dell. Reasons for this could be the sexist factor that she is a girl, so her reaction will be more emotionally projected than that of the male characters. However, the aspect of Dewey Dell not being able to let go of her mother can also play a role in her reaction. This idea is expressed through ...the fan is still moving like it has for ... Some foods, like orange juice or cereal, are calcium fortified, which means the nutrient is added in by the manufacturer before you buy it. Using A Polymer As A Material For Carbon Dioxide Regev Trigalo 10/29/15 ENG 199 HW#3: Simplified Literature Review on Research Topic My research involves the synthesizing polyamine starting from readily available building blocks namely ethylene and carbon monoxide and then using that to capture carbon dioxide, an undesirable greenhouse gas which contributes to global warming, from industrial processes. Currently, liquid amines are used industrially and while they are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very recyclable, and degrade quickly. The novel use of a polymer as a material for this purpose could solve many of these issues. I chose three articles to review to get a better understanding of the current work being done in the field. The first, Absorbent Materials for Carbon Dioxide Capture from Large Anthropogenic Point Sources by Christopher Jones gives an overview of materials currently being used to capture carbon dioxide what I am attempting to do with polyamine. The second, Steam Stripping for Regeneration of Supported Amine Based CO2 Adsorbents, also by Jones, is a communications that discusses regeneration of the amine once it has been used for carbon dioxide capture. The third by Maschmeyer entitled The Reductive Amination of Aldehydes and Ketones and the Hydrogenation of Nitriles: Mechanistic Aspects and Selectivity Control relates to the reaction I am doing (reductive amination of a polyketone). The best solution seemed to be highly mechanized cooperation among the highest European powers to assure that future conflict, and perhaps war, could not arise between them. If all the states ran themselves in a manner cooperating with their neighbors, conflict could be avoided. If both benefit the most in cooperating, as is the case in the prisoner s dilemma, they will both cooperate, and peace will be maintained . This basic liberal assumption of the importance of individual gains is the main support for European integration. In the event of an integrated Europe, constructivists recognize that to completely avoid conflict, each state will have to succumb to a European identity and all individual identities will have to become merely cultural gems within the European system. This, they argue, can be achieved with the success of several steps including economic, judicial, and security integration . The first step has already been attempted with the establishment of the Euro, the common European currency, which has been outperformed by its monetary competitors. A great amount of trust will have to be secured between states before a common court or army can be established, and most likely with as little success as the common currency. After the invention of paper, the Chinese also began to use it for wrapping presents, wallpaper, napkins and toilet paper. Printing was invented by the Chinese. The first method of printing was block printing, using stamps. Rubbings were also made by carving words into stone, then inking the stone and making a print on a piece of paper. This is also known as relief printing. The oldest surviving printed manuscript is the Diamond Sutra. The invention of paper and printing arrived in Europe just as the Renaissance began. This quote by Eleanor Roosevelt is a phrase that she lived by her entire life. Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 to a proud mother, who later would be too ashamed to even look at her. Her mother was Anna Halls Roosevelt, an outstanding beauty and figure of grace in their society, and Eleanor was just not. She was reminded of this daily as her mother would always call her granny meaning back then too plain. Though she never let it show, it had always affected her, making her extremely self conscience. • 20. The Star of Bethlehem Essay It is commonly thought the star of Bethlehem rose in the east and continued brightly as the wise men followed the star to Bethlehem. Recent evidence has shown this is not the case. Key evidence shown in the Bible reveals nine specific characteristics this star needs for it to be the true star of Bethlehem. Beyond these, there are questions about the star and those who witnessed the event that need to be answered. These questions include: Who were the wise men? How did they know what the star meant? And how can a star stop? The first three of the nine points state what the star meant to the wise men. When the wise men asked in Matthew 2:2 Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? This question implies the star indicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are clues within ancient documents and the bible leading toward the date. In the bible Herod is alive at the time of the birth of Jesus. The most current documents place Herod s death around 4 B.C. But, in the earliest of writings by Josephus, Herod s death is placed at 1 B.C. This change opens up two years for us to look for the star. In the bible, it states from the wise men the star was the brightest star. Common theories say the star could have been a comet, a meteor, a nova, and a host of others. Comets are in fact very bright, but in the ancient times comets were regarded as omens of doom and destruction. God would not have used a negative to signify the birth of Christ when he wanted Christ to be received in a joyous manner. The star could not have been a meteor because they shoot across the sky and do not stop. Also, meteors do not last long in the sky, thus failing to suffice for the nine points of the star. The latter is also same for a nova; they do not endure over time. The fact that Herod needed to ask what the sign was and when it appeared shows us that it needed to be a common appearance in the sky, or something not very noticeable. When each of these criteria are factored into the equation, very interesting result come about. What to my wondering eyes should appear? But a star named Jupiter and Regulus together! Tender process An invitation to tender is a formal invitation to make an offer for the project There are several parts to form a tender and to put in a bid to the client. In this section each part of the tender process would be explained in detail. When it comes to tendering for a bid, it is important to understand that the different bidders that have been invited to bid are submitting a contract, explaining why they would be perfect for the project. The first information for a design and build tender would be defining the contract, giving details of timescales for commencement and completion. By defining the contract, the company the tender is sent to, will instantly know what the contract is about and have a brief idea of how they are putting in a bid for it. • 24. Consequences Of Betrayal In The Adventures Of Ulysses Daymieri Narvaez HR: 306 Oct. 12, 2017 Betrayal Betrayal is the action of deception against one s country, group, or a person. This action is noted both in novels and in the real world. The novel The Adventures of Ulysses by Bernard Evslin describes a scene in which two men betray Ulysses by opening a bag of winds. In the real world, a man named Edward Snowden betrays his country by revealing classified information he was entrusted with. The two situations of betrayal are justified and not justified throughout the texts they are mentioned in. In the novel, The Adventures of Ulysses, Ulysses was guarding a bag of winds given to him by Aeolus. He stood awake day and night, protecting the bag from the wandering minds of his crew, but when his eyes gave out, two men took their chances and opened the bag. Though, the consequences that the whole crew experienced cost them dearly, they had reasons for doing this. Predominantly, the two men were tricked by the god of the sea, Poseidon, to open the bag. The god made sounds of clicking trinkets and it lured the men to open the bag since they were profoundly greedy and have been battling in a war for ten years. On page 36 of the novel, it states, Then Poseidon, swimming invisibly alongside, clinked his golden armlets. The men heard the clinking and thought it came from the bag. This demonstrates that the trickery of Poseidon encouraged the men to open the bag since they were vulnerable the sound of trinkets. Additionally, Ulysses never told his crew what the bag contained and why they shouldn t open it. If he did, the whole situation could have been avoided. All the same, Ulysses was a trusted man and leader. The two men who betrayed him should have known better than to doubt that their leader wouldn t have shared if it were real gold. Primarily, Ulysses had been the one making the right decisions all the time and has gotten his crew out of trouble when needed. On page 36, in the text, it states, It is true, said the first, that he has always been generous. He shared the spoils of Troy. This testifies that Ulysses had never kept anything to himself, he always shared his riches with his crew. Thus, the two men should have thought a bit more before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. A Report On The Eb 5 Program The EB 5 program is booming in popularity, driven largely by the U.S. economy in which developers are searching for new sources of capital. It is also fueled by rising demand from foreigners looking for access to U.S. schools, safe investment in U.S. projects and in the case of China, where most of the investors are from greater freedom. The program has broad bipartisan support in Congress, and key senators who are negotiating an overhaul of the immigration system have said they are leaning toward expanding visa programs that provide an immediate boost to the economy. Supporters call the program a no brainer, because it creates jobs and attracts investment. If you get highly skilled, highly talented immigrants with money, who are paying and committing to things that are positive, I m inclined to think it s terrific, former Treasury secretary Lawrence H. Summers said. Since the EB 5 program began in 1992, more than 29,000 people have received visas, foreigners have invested more than $6.8 billion and 50,000 American jobs have been created, U.S. officials said. USCIS administers the EB 5 Program. Under this program, entrepreneurs (and their spouses and unmarried children under 21) are eligible to apply for a green card (permanent residence) if they make the necessary investment in a commercial enterprise in the United States. • 26. The Education Of The Public Education Abstract Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) curriculum in schools is undergoing a revolution in public education. This revolution is sparked by an increase in federal funding over the last decade. Between the years of 2011 and 2015, the federal government alone invested between three and 3.7 billion dollars yearly for STEM education (Johnson, 2012) (White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, 2014) and new STEM educational instructional strategies (Bruce Dacis, Gubbins, Gilson, Villanueva, Foreman, 2014). Despite these new investments and changes, many students are neither enrolling nor excelling in STEM programming, particularly students of color (Museus, Palmer, Davis, Maramba, 2011). Concurrently, many of the areas of greatest economic opportunity exist in STEM related fields (National Research Council, 2011). In order to overcome the opportunity gap that exists between White students and students of color, it is essential for schools and districts to research and implement best practices related to STEM in classrooms. The practices must not only be based in strong pedagogy and professional awareness, but also include culturally responsive practices both within the classroom and the building (Johnson, Peters Burton, Moore, 2016)and development of STEM mentors both in and out of the classroom (Ware Stein, 2013). • 29. Paner A Successful Company With A Bright Future While I believe that Panera is a successful company with a bright future, I have a few recommendations which I hope could help Panera further grow their business. I have included a plan of action for each recommendation. I recommend that Panera open drive thru service in all of their restaurants. They could provide drinks and pastries through the drive thru to customers on the go in the morning. This would especially be beneficial during bad weather when consumers are leery of leaving their vehicles. By providing this service Panera will be able to get more of a market share on the morning commuters. To put this in action Panera should first analyze which of their buildings are already situated with an outside wall that could accommodate a window and driving lane. Next Panera should begin the training and construction needed at these stores. Panera should then evaluate any necessary changes to other stores that are within malls, or come to the realization that a drive thru is not an option without moving the stores. Those stores would be last to deal with. I recommend that Panera partner with recording companies to create promotions which will help both Panera and the recording industry. I think Panera would benefit from linking the customer rewards card with music downloads on the internet. In order to do this Panera would need to meet with several recording companies to obtain rights and to make a mutually beneficial agreement. After the agreement is in place Panera ...
