On April 20th, 2010 an explosion occurred that would be considered one of the worst oil spills in
U.S. history. The explosion was cause by a surge of natural gas that made it way to the Horizon
rig s platform that ignited. This caused the rig to capsize and sink, thus breaking risers that were
being use to counter act the large amount of pressure from oil and natural gasses (Pallardy,
2015). The explosion killed 11 workers and injured 17 others. The explosion caused a massibe leak
in the oil wellhead. It took 87 days for the wellhead to be closed and it is estimated that over that
time around 210 million gallons of oil leaked into the gulf (Gulf Oil Spill, 2011). BP workers tried
to activate a blowout prevent that was part of the Horizon rig s design. This mechanism was
supposed to close off any way to draw out oil bu the mechanism malfunctioned due to the
pressure form the gas and oil that cause the explosion (Pallardy, 2015). The explosion happened
a few miles from the Loop Current which is a large current of warm water in the Gulf that
covers a massive amount of distance making it easy from the oil to spread (Treudaburg Gramling,
2010). Over the next couple of months they tried a variety of different caps to try to stem the flow

In Morality as a System of Hypothetical Imperatives , Philippa Foot argues against Immanuel Kant,

categorical imperatives alone serve as moral commands, and it would be impossible for a moral
system to be based on hypothetical imperatives because such imperatives serve as means to ends
and result from maxims that cannot be universalized into perfect duties. Despite this, Foot holds
that acting on many hypothetical imperatives can be morally praiseworthy and can even serve as
the basis of moral judgments. Although I agree with Foot that hypothetical imperatives can have

Lackeen is a very real depiction of how Irish Travellers live in society today. Winnie Maughan is
not an actress, she was filmed in her own home with no cinematic effects added to enhance or
derail the experience of her surroundings. The result is a real life illustration of the lives of
Travellers in Ireland. The film portrays the poverty in which Winnie and her family live, in a run
down caravan dangerously close to a Dublin dual carriageway. Just as in Into The West the lack of
interest in school shown by children and parents alike emphasizes the stereotype of Travellers but
the fact that it is highlighted in the film that a large number of schools refuse Traveller children, all
the blame cannot rest with them. An issue which is heavily evident and pressing is the lack of
resources available to Winnie and her family by the Irish government. The council cannot even
provide housing with sufficient running water for the family. Throughout research for this paper, it
was continually argued by those who were against Irish Travellers being recognized as an ethnic
minority that Travellers are Irish so therefore cannot be an Ethnic minority group in this country.

himself. However, with the help of his dopplegГ¤nger, Leggatt, the Captain transforms into a
strong, confident man, in full command of his ship. Leggatt serves the role of a teacher and friend

horrifying practices alive. China is home to one of the most enormous and concentrated sweatshop

In present China, forced and unpaid prison labor is widespread and common. Characteristics of
Chinese sweatshops include overcrowding, lack of sanitary conditions, no worker breaks,

Observation Of General Education
Recently, I had the opportunity to observe several general education classes taught by a single
teacher that each contained one or more students who have special needs. Within these classes, I
was able to discern how both they and the teacher dealt with their disabilities as well as how they
functioned within the atmosphere of general education. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss
my observations on three remarkable students and their teacher including their physical, mental and
social development.
General Information
As mentioned above, all of my observations were in several general education classrooms taught
by a single teacher, which henceforth, in order to protect the confidentiality of the students
within the classroom, I will refer to as Mr. Bubbles. All of the classrooms I observed were
general math classes and were full of students ranging from freshman to junior in age groups.
Within these classes, I observed a wide range of accommodations for three main students, whom I
will refer to as Joey, Jeremy, and Tom, including one on one sessions, shortened assignments and
tests, and allotted break areas. Due to the parameters of the permission I received to observe in the
classroom, I was not able to secure any information on their family interactions, or any other
personal dynamics (I was not able to ask personal questions about the students), thus all of my
information will be limited to my conversations as well as what happened solely within Mr. Bubbles
