How Does Inarritu Use Innovative Camera Techniques In The...
Amores Perros and City of God each have their own technique of filming its narrative that draws
viewers in immediately. Both films chose not to portray easily recognizable tourist or popular areas of
the city that would allow the audience to distinguish exactly what city the film took place in plays an
important role (Chetin, 2016). The use of innovative camera techniques utilized within both the films
have a significant impact in the films success in appealing to a global transnational audience.
Inarritu s use of handheld cameras, rapid editing, fluid camera work, and an extensive range of shots,
from extreme long shots to extreme close ups all play a role in the film s appeal. The camera
techniques assist Inarritu s attempt to not cast a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The innovative camera techniques used do not utilize the realist style that was previously associated
with films dealing with social deprivation; however, it does use identifiable genre characteristics, but
in a way that is more specific for that location (Anon, 2016). The camera angles used within City of
God create certain atmospheres and alter the meaning of a scene. The film editing creates a world and
a feeling that absorbs the audience and transports them to a place they have never been to. The
opening scene begins with a nice atmosphere of people playing music and dancing. Then it is seen
from the chicken s perspective. It watches as the knives sharpen and other chickens are being killed. It
runs away and can be seen as symbolizing Rocket s attempt to flee from the gang life. The mixture of
the camera angles builds up suspense. The variation of high and low angles accentuate the disordered
way the city is built up from different layers of houses, small shacks and streets. This scene submerges
the audience in the feeling of excitement, suspense, and fear as the chicken attempts to make its

A Visit to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Essay
A group of us Arts and Music students used the day on Wednesday to go into the city to visit the
Boston Museum of Fine Arts. It was a cold, breezy day so we were all bundled up in jackets and hats.
As we got off the E train and walked toward the museum, its appearance was not what I expected it to
be. The museum was an elegant, beautiful building made of what looked to be marble; not the big,
brick monstrosity I had expected. Once we walked into the museum, it was even more elegant on the
inside. The marble staircase had sculptures on each side leading up to the rotunda where white
Christmas lights were strung around the banister in decoration for the Christmas season. Saint
Catherine by El Greco was found in the European Old Master ... Show more content on

Picasso s painting entitled Standing Figure depicts a nude woman with her arms crossed behind her
head. It was painted in 1908 during a key period of invention and experimentation, as Picasso began to
construct his paintings in a new way. The figure is translated into simplified, geometric forms,
reflecting Picasso s interest in the art of Africa and Oceania. Using only a few colors, he focuses the
viewer s attention on the intersection of these geometric forms. It seems as though Picasso uses the
blue lines in this painting like some sort of directional device, drawing attention to the outline of the
woman s figure. As we discussed in class, the style of cubism uses multiple or contrasting vantage
points. Another element of cubism is simplifying more complicated scenes into geometric forms.
Cubism rejected the inherited concept that art should copy nature, or that they should adopt the
traditional techniques of perspective, modeling, and foreshortening. They wanted instead to emphasize
the two dimensionality of the canvas. Turner s Fall of the Rhine at Schaffhausen , painted between
1805 and 1806, creates a sense of panic for the viewer. The water has an overwhelming presence in
this piece. Compared to the force of nature in the waterfall, the people and animals are dwarfed. One
woman is depicted rushing to try and save her child. Turner captured the force of the waterfall

mission God has commissioned to the people due to their stubbornness. Thus, Israel was delivered up
to plunderers and robbers (42:22 25). This rebellious servant is in paradoxical relationship with the
ideal servant figure in 42:1 9, creating tension between them. The blind and deaf servant theme
continues in 43:1 13, introducing the task of the servant as God s witness. In spite of the fragility of
the servant, God still loves the servant Israel and wills to use the servant as his witness among the
nations (43:10, 12; 44:8).26 God s original purpose in choosing his servant is for the nations to
experience God s incomparable sovereign power and for his glory to be proclaimed among the
nations, but the servant keeps failing to faithfully accomplish the task. Nevertheless, God s
unconditional grace and the promise of redemption to his servant Israel are repeatedly declared in the
subsequent passage (43:22 44:23). This unit s uniqueness is the transformation of the descendants of
the servant through the outpouring of the Spirit upon them (44:3 5) and the forgiveness ... Show more

Historical critical scholars suggest that the identity of the servant is an anonymous contemporary of
Second Isaiah, Second Isaiah himself, a group (Israel, ideal Israel, a remnant), the Davidic messiah,
the king Jehoiachin (597 B.C.), the exiled people, and so on. However, the question of the identity of
the servant remains intractable among scholars. As Clines points out, there is an intentional opacity
about the text. Moreover, the highly poetic and rhetorical nature in the language of Isaiah 53 prevents
us from acquiring the precise historical information of the servant s identity. The questions concerning
the identity of the servant seem to be secondary in the movement of thought in 52:13 53:12. See David

People are watching the same movies, reading the same magazines, and dancing to the same dances
from Boston to Bangkok, to Buenos Aires (Marquardt, 2002). The first component is Systems
Thinking. He uses a rainstorm as an example of how humans interrelated actions have a diverse affect
on each other, and how humans usually don t see those invisible links because it takes years to take
form. Because people don t usually see them for years and only focus on snapshots, it arises the
questions of why there problems never seem to get solved. According to the author Peter Senge,
Systems thinking is a conceptual framework, a body of knowledge and tools that has been developed
over the past fifty years, to make the full patterns clearer, and to help us see how to change them
effectively (1990, p.468). The second component is Personal Mastery; the special level of proficiency.
It is the discipline of continually clarifying and the deepening of personal vision, focusing of energies,
developing patience, and seeing reality objectively. Personal Mastery has two components. First, one
must define what goal one is trying to achieve. Second, one must have a true measure of how close
one is to the goal (Senge, 1990). Personnel mastery is an essential cornerstone of the learning
organization; an organization commitment to capacity for learning can be greater than that of its

Studies and Techniques for Teaching Children with Autism
There are many diseases and disorders that plague today s world, but one of the most serious of those
disorders is autism. In fact, autism is the third most common developmental disability affecting four
hundred thousand people worldwide (Autism Society of America). As of yet there is no treatment for
autism, only a variety of dealing with this disorder. Autism is a process disorder of brain function.
People with autism have trouble in communication, social interactions and play activities. This
disorder makes it difficult for them to connect to the outside world. It is difficult for them to
communicate with other people. In some cases people with autism has Aggressive and self injurious
behavior. They may represent repeated body movement, such as rocking or hands flapping and
unusual speak to people. They also represent sensitivities in the five senses of sight, hearing, touch,
taste and smell. Autism usually appears during the first three years and continues throughout life.
Introduction
There has been a number of studies on the behavior and development of children with Autism. This
paper talks about four different types of studies about techniques teaching children with autism such
as communication, socialization, cognitive development, and a number of other areas in children. The
fist article is applied behavior analysis (ABA), by Ole Ivar Lovaas. The second article is a study called

The Organizational Behavior And Direction Of Change
Self Reflection In my current profession the organizational behavior and direction of change is
influenced by the organization s culture. Organizational behavior occurs in all organizations but and
shapes and develops the culture without the employees ever being aware. Culture can be described as
the particular roles and values that people are accustomed to in a workplace. Culture can vary from
organization to organization. Before taking this course at Cornerstone, organizational behavior and
change was an unfamiliar notion. After taking this course I have a better sense of my role as a leader
within my current profession. I have been able to further expound on the concept of what drives
people at work, whether it is prestige, money or power. I am now able to utilize the concepts from the
CQ model and recognize our own use of the steps in Kotter s Model. CQ Model Many people think of
culture as the specific food a person eat, their traditional family values or a person s ethnic
background. Although these assumptions are comprised in the explanation of culture, it is not limited
to only the customs described. In fact culture refers to behavior, values and norms of a particular
environment. This environment in this case is the workplace. Utilizing the CQ Model or Cultural
Intelligence Model, I was able to recognize my own strengths and areas that need improvement. The
CQ Model was developed by David Livermore which summed up people s cultural capabilities and

John Proctor As A Hero In Arthur Miller s The Crucible
John Proctor is considered an hero and it shows throughout all the acts in the book of good and bad.
The small town of Salem is submerged in hysteria/fear due to accusations of a group of girls that was
assumed of witchcraft. Among all of them is the main character John Proctor, a husband, father, and
farmer. Proctor s main motivation was to protect his wife and family after he feels guilty of having
affair with Abigail. In the book The Crucible Arthur Miller proves the dangers of hysteria for a person
who is in between a dilemma of being put to death with trying to protect his wife and to forgive
himself through the character John Proctor.
Proctor is a hero in his best effort to protect his wife. John Proctor first example of protecting his wife
when the court witnesses come to take Elizabeth away. In that same act Proctor got frustrated on the
assault on his home that he tears the warrant and tells them to leave saying vigorously Damn the
Deputy Governor ! Out of my house ( Pg.77), showing his secure protection for his wife. Despite
Proctor s strong beliefs, values, and integrity, he is human. Although in his moment of weakness, he
breaks one of the most important commandments of all. Proctor shows signs of being a hero when he
attempted to go into the courtroom to save his wife and prove that the group of girls were lying.
Afterwards, he ended up accusing himself. Proctor continues saying that the children were lying in
court. Proctor thinks from the witchcraft

Argumentative Essay On Screen Time
Technology has been part of our daily live more frequently than before. Screen time has been more
popularly used on kids and adolescents. On a daily bases many kids seem to spend more time inside
on their tablets, instead of having to spend time with other kids. This is a problem that is becoming
more popular over the years,on whether kids need to spend that much time on technology or not.
Parents either seem to have strict technology usage, or they either don t. There has always been a huge
controversy with experts, who either think that screen time is beneficial or could cause problems later
on in life. There are many views towards this topic, from hurting kids brains, to helping them during
school, and socially. Many people, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to balance both there has to be comparative with the parents. Technology isn t good nor bad.
It can only benefit the child if the parents put a limit to their time in the screen. Parents need to set up
a schedule in where the kids will follow the time the kids will be using the tablet/ phone. As well have
time to play with other kids, and just interact with there own family member. In the article, Screen
time: A guide for parents states, keeping computers out of the bedroom, and keep them in a common
area in your house. This will make sure that the child isn t using their computers/ tablets during the
time they have to rest. Kids need to have a good rest, and not having technology in their rooms
because it could cause irregular sleep. Just having the parent take action in how much kids need to
spend time in the screens can be a good start. Luscombe argues, Take away the idea that all screens are
bad, but the face to face time for young people is an important part of the socialization process .
Parents seem to not understand that children need to develop good social skills, and that can only be
done by interacting with others, and get a sense on others points of views. Parents need to stop giving
the kids technology to keep them quiet for a while, because at the end it s hurting the child

Analysis Of Legally Blonde The Musical
Humorous, energetic, enjoyable and all around fun, Legally Blonde: The Musical captured my
attention from the get go. This comical yet heartwarming musical portrays the story of a young
woman following an ex love to Harvard Law School only to realize the potential she possessed within
herself and in the new life she creates for her own. After viewing this hit Broadway production, I am
fascinated with how this theatre play was brought to life on stage with the lighting, sound, spacing and
overall entertainment from the cast to the costumes. Altogether, this play is one of my all time favorite
productions and it is one that keeps my attention from the moment it takes off to the closing of the
curtain at the end.
Legally Blonde: The Musical starts off by capturing the audience s attention and winning their hearts
with the characters and the acting that takes place in this performance. The main character, Elle
Woods, played by Laura Bell Bundy in the Broadway production, soared though this musical with her
singing, dancing and radiating energy. Bundy was a sight to see on the stage as she made every line
believable while achieving at looking like she was having the time of her life throughout the entire
production. The thing that stuck out the most was the amount of emotion that was poured into this
performance from every single character, minor or major, taking part. From scenes such as Elle
finding out she got Callahan s law internship to the famous Bend and Snap scene,

Examples Of Existentialism In The Goldfinch
The Goldfinch is mostly a work on existentialism. The main character, Theo Decker, is taken from his
happy life in New York with his mother, to his destructive life in Las Vegas with his father. After his
mother died his life starts his destructive path down mostly existentialism. For the most part the book
is a work of existentialism, except for a few key details for existentialism. People are not based on pre
judged thing out of the characters control. A prime example of this is when Boris started to date a girl
he meet, Theo makes a lot of comments showing his dislike for her.
One of the details that is the book s best example of existentialism is, Life is Random . Theo s life is
random right from the moment he nearly misses getting killed at the museum. His mother gets killed,
his father takes him in, he meets boris who is his bad influence, and his father only cares about money;
just some of the random things in his life. A quote from Theo best explains his thoughts on his random
life, no one will ever, ever be able to persuade me that life is some awesome, rewarding treat.
Because,here s the truth:life is a catastrophe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boris is a leading factor to his decline in life, he is getting into alcohol, drugs, forgery and at the end
of the book murder. Boris is a negative influence on Theo the entire story, people like Hobie and Pippa
try to steer his life in the right direction so like Simone De Beauvoir believed, Danger to be alone, and
we have a need for others. This showed to be true because after Theo s mother and father died, and he
killed Frits it was the people in his life that he relied on to continue on. This shows that the goldfinch
is a partial work of existentialism because it is directly relative to existentialist

Persuasive Essay On True Education
A true education can be defined as enough knowledge given to a student to be successful after
completing school. The purpose of school is to give students this true education, but as time passes, so
must the old ways of accomplishing this. Reformists have made an effort to adjust the education
system to accompany the changing economy and surpass competition, and in doing so, have lost sight
of a true education. The schools of today s society attempt to prepare students for the future by
providing them with basic academic skills; although these skills are handy for doing well on
standardized tests, they are nearly ineffectual for thriving in daily life.
The first time the education of children became serious was in the Age of Enlightenment. During this
time, the quality of education was based on the economy, thus it was a primitive basis of education.
The current education system still runs on some of these old ideas, but in truth, the validity of these
principles has expired (RSA). However, the education system has developed somewhat, and some
aspects of the information taught to students have advanced. Nevertheless, it is advancing in the
wrong direction. The education students receive prepares them for college; it doesn t prepare them for
any other pathway. When we went to school, we were kept there with a story which is if you worked
hard and did well and got a college degree, you would have a job (RSA). This is a common
misconception presently, because some students choose not to attend college, and they find success
elsewhere. The mentality that one has to go to college to become successful is inapt and was more
accurate in the Age of Enlightenment, when those without an education simply ended up in the
factories and coal mine with insufficient wages.
One effect from the changing view of the ideal education system is the pressure on the schools
themselves. With a rapidly changing world, countries find themselves competing for the upper hand;
this includes having the best educated citizens. Hence, the US tries to cram as much information into
the heads of students as fast as possible. The students have only the slightest understanding of what
they learned before they are pushed on to the next subject.

East Of Eden Directed By Elia Kazan
The 1955 dramatic film, East of Eden, directed by Elia Kazan, is a movie adaptation of the popular
book written in 1952. Throughout this drama, moviegoers embark on a journey through various
thematic topics such as the idea of good vs evil, the importance of repentance and redemption, and the
human ideal of free will. For example, multiple characters in the film are split into two categories:
those who are naturally good and those who are naturally evil. With this idea, characters either act
how they are born or act on their free will to be who they want to be. The film employs a wide cast of
talented actors who bring all their characters and roles to life. The main character, Cal Trask, however
is played by probably the most famous actor of the bunch, James Dean, who plays it awesomely. Cal s
character is supposed to be of someone who is always internally troubling and confused and James
easily shows this in this role. Richard Davalos, plays the character of Aron, Cal s brother, with
absolute beauty as well. Aron, in the book, is supposed to represent what is good and innocent and
Richard shows this characteristic evidently in his acting style. The father of Cal and Aron, Adam, is
then played by Raymond Massey who is able to tie the story together very well. Raymond s acting in
being constantly angry and disappointed in Cal is what allows James to bring out the light in Cal since
Adam has a huge effect on Cal s character in the story. Another major character is

Euphemism In Othello
In civilisations today it is not uncommon for people to take note of someone that is of African descent
in a high position in society. This is something that is not uncommon in past centuries as well. Othello
is a romantic tragedy about a couple, in the Shakespearian era, that undergoes trials that test their faith
in one another. In the end, they are not able to stand up to the challenge and fall, or are pushed, into
the cold embrace of death. Long before the grim reaper takes either of them it is demonstrated how
Othello, the husband, is affected by his African heritage in Desdemona s, the wife s, caucasian society.
In this well written play, composed by the author and playwright William Shakespeare, uses indirect
characterization, euphemisms and specific monologues to reinforce the idea that even though Othello
is a high ranking officer and skilled warrior he is still subject to racial prejudice from his colleagues,
and this proves that skin color can be an influence on life no matter the attributes of an individual
during this particular period in history. In the beginning of the play Shakespeare makes it apparent that
Brabantio, a Venetian of high political standing, sees Othello as a good friend and an enjoyable source
of entertainment. Her father lov d me, oft invited me; Still question d me the story of my life.
(Shakespeare 1.3.128 129) Othello himself even admits to the fact that Brabantio loves to hear all his
stories growing up from childhood and invites him

What is the significance of this repeated line? i.e., what does it mean? I think when he kept asking her

The Cardiovascular System Of The Heart And Blood Vessels
[The purpose of the cardiovascular system is to circulate blood throughout the body. The

body.]
[Cardiovascular disease is a range of disorders of the heart and blood vessels. Examples of CVD are
an arrhythmia, coronary artery disease, and congenital heart disease.]
[Tobacco use increases the risk for CVD because it damages the lining of arteries. Also, it decreases
the level of HDL and increases the levels of LDL cholesterol. Nicotine causes an increase in blood
pressure and heart rate. Carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke lowers the amount of oxygen the blood

cause a blood clot, and it speeds the development of plaque.]
[Blood pressure is measured using two numbers. The first number is the systolic blood pressure,
which is a contraction phase of the heart. The second number is the diastolic blood pressure, which is
a relaxation phase of the heart. The normal blood pressure reading for a healthy adult is below 120

The letter attributes the writing to Peter. Similarities in style with Acts and the Gospels seem to

What is apocalyptic literature and what distinct rules of interpretation apply to it?
The genre of apocalyptic literature is varied but was well known in the first century and can also be
seen in other Christian and Jewish sources such as Daniel, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Jesus Olivet Discourse,
and portions of 1 and 2 Thessalonians. This type of writing makes extensive use of symbolism,
grotesque and outlandish imagery, and numbers infused with cryptic/symbolic meaning. It was often
written in times of crisis, and can depict past, present, and future events intertwined or leading to
moments of Godly intervention and triumph over evil forces.
Apocalyptic literature ought to be studied and analyzed in light of first century history. The most
important hermeneutical principle we can follow is, to make sense out of the text as a 1st century
Christian in Asia minor would have understood it, and not as a modern 21st century Christians
infusing meaning anachronistically into the text as it is often done. A literal interpretation is almost
always the wrong approach to interpret such

Consequences In Lord Of The Flies
A World Without Consequences In the novel Lord Of The Flies, the characters are thrust onto a
deserted island, outside the confines of their regimented society. As a result, they slowly lose their
morality because there are no consequences for their actions thus shifting from civilization to
savagery. This shift was first seen from the boy s actions. Once on the island, there are no rules and
the boys play all day, especially the littluns and two boys named Roger and Maurice who destroy all
their sand castles. Roger did not feel guilty, but Maurice was different for in his other life Maurice had
received chastisement for filling a younger eye with sand. Now, though there was no parent to let fall
a heavy hand, Maurice still felt the unease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mask is Jack s camouflage for when he hunts in order to hunt better, but it truly represents Jack s
turn to savagery for the mask does not hide his true identity, it brings out his inner savagery. Masks are
used to hide people s identity or to let them become someone or something else. If no one can
recognize who a person is, then that person cannot be blamed for their actions. Therefore, Jack is freed
from his morality and therefore the is no longer any consequences for his actions as well as all the
boys eventually becoming unrecognizable; they are no longer individuals and cannot be distinguished
from savages. This is the case when Ralph and Piggy go to Castle Rock a when the boys who joined
Jack s group appeared, savages appeared, painted out of recognition, edging round the ledge to the
neck (175). The masks hide their identities, the boys are no longer civilized boys, but a group of
savages. Therefore, the boys are not responsible for their actions and the masks bring that out in the
boys, causing them to turn to savagery. Clearly the masks connect back to the very reason the boys

Essay All About Mussels
Mussels are a type of shellfish called bivalves. Bivalves are molluscs that are enclosed by a shell in
two hinged parts. They include clams, oysters, and scallops. Mussels grow in colonies that attach
themselves to rocks, pilings, or other hard surfaces with their beards . However, most commercial
cultivated mussels are grown on hanging ropes. There are many types of mussels; and that they are
very nutritious as well as they can be cooked in many different ways. Also they are enjoyed around the
world. Even though there are many types of mussels available in markets, they can all be used
interchangeably. The three main types of mussels are Mediterranean, Blue, and Green lip.

Additionally, not only are mussels delicious to eat, they are easy to cook and can be cooked in a
variety of ways such as steaming, roasting, grilling, boiling, smoking, and deep frying. However, the
easiest way to cook these delicious molluscs is steaming. This method requires the steam created from
the cooking liquid to cook the mussels. The cooking liquid can be clam juice, salty water, wine, or
even beer. For this method, the cooking liquid is combined with herbs such as rosemary or sage and
softened shallots (cooking them in butter or oil for few minutes). The mussels are placed into the
saucepan after they are washed and given a good scrub. However, mussels that are opened when
tapped on a counter or chipped or cracked must be discarded. Then the saucepan is placed on high
heat for a few minutes. Mussels are finished cooking when most of the shells are opened, about 5
minutes. However, there may be some that stay closed after cooking. These, just like the broken shell
mussels, must be discarded. Moreover, mussels are great for grilling. Just heat grill to hot and place
the whole mussels on the grill. When the mussels start to open, they are done and ready to eat. Just
finish them with a sprinkle of ground black pepper. If mussels are cooked this way, they are surely
going to be devoured before they are able to reach the dinner table. Mussels can also be pan roasted.

The Internet And Its Impact On The Web
The Internet has become one of, if not the quickest way to access information since most students
would prefer to turn to these Internet resources first. There s an estimate of 120 million Internet users
in the United States, surfing the web daily. That is why the web has evolved into a more accessible
and user friendly place where a person is able to search for the information they want. Therefore, it is
crucial for a website to maintain its accessibility and user friendly characteristic by keeping a well
designed web page, easy navigations through the site, clear printed words on the page with good color
contrast, etc. Furthermore, in order to receive feedbacks from the users/readers, the website would
require a feedback system and user s support to allow the users to express their opinions of the website
which is very valuable in order to improve the web page. A great example of a website which contains
a lot of these characteristics is CollegeAtlas.com. First, the website has tons of information regarding
Colleges, which is already helpful towards students, as the largest group of people who uses the
internet. College Atlas contains information for different colleges, as well as options to help find a
suitable college for the student s education needs. As one can see, at first glance, the site has a lot of

Corruption In Animal Farm, By George Orwell
Imagine growing up and committing your life to the prosperity of education. Each day you strive to
better yourself in order to provide for your family in the making. Picture pouring all of your hard work
and dedication out to give your child an even better education that you received. In the end, you
discover all of your funding and expenses were used by the school for other political campaigns,
diverting to other private interests rather than your child s needs. This is an example of corruption in
society, just as displayed in the novella Animal Farm, by George Orwell. Condensing the story, main
characters Napoleon and Squealer rise to power and set out to create a paradise of equality and
prosperity for all animals. What the community soon finds is that the growing tyranny leaves the once
bright future crumbling at the seams. Squealer and Napoleon are both narcissists that manipulate
Animal Farm according to their needs only. During the introduction of Animal Farm, Orwell unfolds a
character whose name was Mr. Jones. He was the owner of the Manor Farm with a lack of dictatorship
and leadership skills that left his farm in shambles. The animals on the estate were kicked around and
were given the bare minimum, shown by Orwell when he lists The life on an animal is misery and
slavery: that is the plain truth. Jones s reoccurring drinking problem and reckless behavior shows the
animals something must be done to get rid of him. A satisfactory showcasing of the events in this

Michael Moore Capitalism Synopsis
Michael Moore is the writer and director of the highly relevant documentary film, Capitalism: A Love
Story. To me, the most interesting chapter of the film is Dead Peasants. Moore talked about capitalism
is a system of giving and taking, mostly taking . In my opinion, it sounds true for me. Moore
illustrated Irma Johnson s husband Dan ironic case. Who recently died of cancer, leaving behind Irma
and their two sons. They filmed the woman cried and sadly talked about her husband. Her husband
worked in middle management at Amegy Bank in Houston, Texas. Amegy had taken out a secret life
insurance policy on Dan s life. The bank generously named itself as the beneficiary in the event of
Dan s death. Dan s death made them $1.5 million richer by the insurance company accidentally
informed Irma that Amegy Bank had received a check for $1.5 million just weeks after Dan died. Irma
Johnson cried in pain that she didn t know anything and they never told her. Why the company try to
profit from employee s death?. How are these companies able to get away with this?. Moore might be
answer those kinds of question in sarcastic way : I guess that s the point of capitalism. It allows you to

a person gives up when life gets rough, it is setting them up for failure later in life when there are
much more difficult obstacles to overcome. Throughout this whole third part of the novel, Vyry, Innis,

Hayden Symphony 94 Analysis
The piece that I have decide to use is the Hayden Symphony 94. I will be using all four movements to
identify which criteria has been met by this piece. The Haydn Symphony 94 follows a form that works
for it with each of the four movements have an expressive section then a rhythmic section. Also,
during the second movement which is a theme and variation he repeated both themes but the second
time he would use a drastic dynamic change. (Criterion #1) Within movement 2 Haydn uses dynamic
contrast frequently. The first 15 measures of the piece are a succession of soft melodies then in the
16th measure Haydn places a loud note to grab the attention of the audience then he returns to his
quiets melodies. Haydn also wrote solos for the oboist and flautist, and concluding with a sweeping
and lyrical forte repeat in triplets (Symphony no. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Criterion #2) Movement 2 shows that Haydn use the different instruments families to add different
colors to each section of the piece. He starts this movement with the strings having the main theme
then adding the woodwinds to the main theme and to the accompanying parts. At certain parts of the
movement he has all instruments playing some form of the main theme. We can also here that the
main theme has moved from the high voices to the low voices throughout the movement. By the end
of the movement the we have the woodwinds completely taking over the melody while the stings are
playing the accompanying parts. (Criterion #3) Within the second movement of the symphony there is
this one loud note or chord among a group of soft chords. Once the audience has heard this once or
twice they come to predict the note because the previous nots grabbed our attention. (Criterion #4)
The expressive introduction section of movement 1 is followed by the very rhythmic section. This
shows that the music is not obvious and direct but it does set up the following movements form wise.

The Reasoning behind The Crisis No. 1 by Thomas Paine As an anonymous author Common Sense,
Thomas Paine wrote the first pamphlet in the colonies to urge immediate independence from Britain.
After writing Common Sense, he then wrote the first of sixteen pamphlets titled The Crisis. The first
Crisis paper ( These are the times that try men s souls ) was read to Washington s troops at Trenton
and did much to shore up the spirits of the Revolutionary soldiers (Paine 324). Paine motivated the
troops to keep their eyes on what really mattered throughout the war. The purpose of his writings are

Although sterilizing instruments for procedures is an effective way to reduce the risk of

endoscopes, for example, are flexible to allow for the ease of movement in the body and are not made

John Bowlby And Attachment Theory
Human beings have many needs, but one of the most fundamental needs is for love and
companionship. Starting at birth, it is vital for bonds that enforce these needs are made. One way for
this type of connecting to be made is through attachment. Attachment theory is defined by oxford
dictionaries as a theory that emphasizes the bond formed by an infant toward its mother (or other
principal caregiver) and its pre eminent influence on behavior in adolescent and adult relationships.
(Oxford) This theory developed from a British psychologist by the name of John Bowlby between the
1950s and 1960s. From day one, babies are pretty much helpless. Due to this, they need a lot of
support, and forming a strong emotional bond with another individual will aid in their feelings of
stability, love and support; which will ultimately increase their chances of future success and survival.
A psychologist by the name of Mary Ainsworth conducted a study named Strange Situation where she
talks about three types of styles of attachment. These styles include secure attachment, ambivalent
insecure attachment, and avoidant insecure attachment. Mary Ainsworth is mainly known for her
extended research on the work of John Bowlby and Attachment Theory. Ainsworth created a
procedure called Strange Situation in order to observe and asses the condition of attachment in
relationships with caregivers and children. In this study, the child involved is observed for twenty

Religion In Elizabeth Gaskell s Mary Barton
Religion plays a huge role throughout Elizabeth Gaskell s Mary Barton. The significance of religion is
experienced in all the characters and its consequence especially on John Barton, after he murders
Harry Carson, is immense and consequential. During the first half of the novel, John Barton is the
noble hero fighting for the working class, despite going through numerous sufferings throughout his
life. However, by the end of the novel he is no longer a noble hero but rather a deplorable person that
has fallen from grace. This paper will examine the effects of religion in the downfall of John Barton
and visualize the possible outcome if those effects were absent, or at the very least, minimal. John
Barton, the father of Mary Barton, is one of the key characters in the novel. It is important to note that
when Elizabeth Gaskell was writing this novel, she envisioned him as the main character. In her letter
to Mrs. W. R. Greg early in 1849, she wrote, John Barton was the original title of the book. Round the

Positive Perspectives As A Positive Perspective
Perspective refers to a point of view that involves certain assumptions. On the other hand, perception
can be defined as our recognition and interpretation of sensory information. It is the lens through
which we view reality. Just like the examples I showed before, there is no fixed meaning to anything
because you can always look at something in a different way and interpret different meanings. Things
in themselves are inherently neutral, it is the way we perceive them that changes its meaning. For
instance, your day can be awful or great depending on your perspective. Or you could view a bad
mark in the test as a failure or an opportunity to develop self resilience. The thing is, there is no right
or wrong way to perceive something. However, having a positive perspective can improve your
perception towards life.

Her lifeless body was discovered by law enforcement agencies on February 9 in Leaking Park. After

convicted of the murder as a result of follow ups that led to many dormant leads, recheck alibis and

Adnan hatched a plan to kill her. Jay s story supported the account that Adnan had killed her and

Evolution Of Primate Intelligence Essay
The evolution of primate intelligence.
Intro and summary
Inquisitiveness, probably one if the most important trait a human being exhibits. This characteristic
has also extended to our quest to understand own past. One of the most fundamental reasons why we
are interested in the other primates is to obtain a precise view of how our ancestor may have lived.
Trying to get an insight into their environment, food, and social structure. Although there is no direct
evidence to prove that we as human beings have descended from any modern type monkey or ape, our
genealogy does indicate that we have gone through stages, in which we possibly evolved from a
relatively medium sized creature with good binocular vision, hands with good dexterity the ability to

undetermined and disputed (Insel). In particular, the neocortex of many primates has undergone
substantial expansion, and has reached its largest in humans (Rilling and Insel, 1999). The neocortex
is generally associated with, cognitive memory, and higher order information processing. Emotions
such as fear, happiness, jealousy and understanding the need for conflict resolution stem from this part
of the brain. Although, many theories have been put forth to account for cerebral expansion in
primates, Epiphenomenal and developmental models have interpreted brain

The Cosmic Address
Task 1
Our Cosmic Address
Earth A planet which contains all of the human race and is the only known planet with life on so far.
Usually accompanied by the moon with an earth moon system. It is the 3rd planet from the sun which
makes the temperature right for us.
(Thelistlove.com, 2016)
The Solar System Contains all planets which are within our solar system, hundreds of thousands of
asteroids and uncountable smaller bits. Our solar system contains mercury, Venus, earth, mars, Jupiter,
Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. We have only explored minimal amounts of mars using rovers.
(En.wikipedia.org, 2016)
Milky Way Contains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sun is an incredible 2 million degrees Celsius and can reach 15 million in the core. The Sun has a
very strong magnetic field. Solar flares occur when magnetic energy is released by the Sun during
magnetic storms, which we see as sunspots. In sunspots, the magnetic lines are twisted and they spin,
much like a tornado would on Earth. (sun facts, 2012)
How the sun began
Gravity drew dust and gas together to create the solar system. The sun formed first from the material
closely by the planets. Waves of energy traveling through space pressed clouds of such particles closer
together, and gravity causes them to collapse in on themselves. As the material drew together, gravity
caused it to spin. The spin caused the cloud to flatten into a disk like a pancake. In the centre, the
material clumped together to form a protostar that would eventually become the sun. The protostar
was a ball of hydrogen and helium not yet powered by fusion. Over the course of 50 million years, the
temperature and pressure of the material inside increased, jumpstarting the fusion of hydrogen that
drives the sun today. (Credit, 2016)
The suns fusion and the atmosphere
The sun is made of 72% hydrogen, 26% helium and traces of oxygen, carbon, neon, nitrogen,
magnesium, iron and silicon. The high amounts of

Microaggression Essay
Hi classmates,
Here is my respond to the following questions:
1. Describe a time you committed a microaggression: I remember the incident during my stay in
Spain. My friends introduced me to their friends and their families. My reaction to the greeting first
alerted them, and then became the general fun, but I understand that for my part it was exactly a
microaggression. At the moment of greeting, a person leanin towards you and thrice touches your
cheek with his/her cheek, imitating a kiss, and you should greet this way with everyone. My first
reaction I pulled away. The closest friend of my acquaintances perceived my reaction as a personal
dislike.
a) What was the underlying message?
Please, do not touch me. It is my personal space. I do not cuddle, kissing with people I do not know.
b) How did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plus, I asked my friends about whether there are any other things I should know about to react
properly.
d) How have you changed?
At the other days, I had to communicate with a large group of people in business and in a more
informal atmosphere and I was glad that I had prepared for this in advance and was ready to respond
to the situation. Regardless of which country I am in, if possible I try to learn as much as possible
about the very small things that really mean a lot. Ordinary greetings with new people, a good
example of what I mean.
2. Describe a time you experienced a microaggression:
Because English is my second language; most microaggressions are associated with this. Oh, you got
an accent, are not you an American? Do you live in this country and do not speak English? Often in
my face people express their attitude to the whole nation, to which I belong.
a) What was the underlying message?
You are not like us. What are you doing here? You are less intelligent. You are from a wild strange
country
b) How did you

Persuasive Essay On Black Hate
In the same way, the Spelman College administration, faculty, and students that disregard the West
End community that surrounds the college only contribute to the erosion of our community and our
people. Although this is not a language of hate, it is a clear display of indifference which
communicates the same thing. Choosing to disregard the homeless, pay little attention to the
gentrification that is rampantly kicking our people out of our community, or ignore ways to provide
opportunities or exposure to the high school students in our own back yard; are we truly activating
black love as political resistance or are we ignoring the needs of the people that are around us every
day? We need to realize that there are two vehicles that drive the future of the black community: one
of black love and one of black hate. Realize that, although society drives black hate we can be
passengers in that car. We can disagree and reject their ideology, all the while internalizing it. Even
though we are not driving, our inability to articulate black love as fluently as we articulate black hate,
allows black hate to trump black love. Therefore, in our lives, in our homes, in our communities, and
on our HBCU campuses the darkness and degradation of blackness thrives by separating us from our
own people and making it seem normal to demean ourselves, our race, and our people. Is this behavior
not subtly mimicking those of the oppressor? Although some our actions contradict our feelings

Essay on Two Months
Two Months Personal Narrative The day my sister left for England, something inside of me woke up.
It felt like the desert sand being surprised by cool wet rain, my amazement and surprise was just the
same. The reality that this was really happening, we really were being separated, all became too much
for me. As close as two siblings could be, it is often difficult to distinguish between Georgie and I.
One wonders, where does Georgie start, and where do I begin? Who developed the sarcastic wit, and
who picked it up as the years went by? My life is so extraordinary linked to this woman. She is
vibrant, she is intelligent. She is beauty that is discovered in the rarest of places, she is the lyrics in
that sad song. She is the stars that I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the departure gate I tried to tell her just how much she meant to me, but I never did quite manage to
find the right words. There was spluttering, hugging, pleading and kissing. Her boyfriend of four
months, sobbing like a little boy, begging her not to go. My mother looking sordidly normal, making
us all wonder why she was not wrought with despair. My grandpa shaking his head at the way the
young lovers said goodbye, and my father beaming with pride that his daughter was taking on such a
challenge. And then there was me, baffled and unable to speak, gagging on tears and clinging to her
side. All too suddenly she walked into the line of assorted passengers, blending well with the crowd. I
remember being amazed that she could stand there with such certainty, being willing to take the step
onto the massive super white plane. After I felt sure she would not look back, she shot a glance my
way, and I think it was then that I understood her. This was her life, and her chance to be free. This
challenge was a mountain that no mountaineer would easily climb, and here she was, climbing so
faithfully, her support network soon to be a million miles from her. Each step took her closer to the
top, all the while dragging her further and further away. Later that night, at around eleven pm, I stared
into the bottom of my glass, and wondered if

  • 2. How Does Inarritu Use Innovative Camera Techniques In The... Amores Perros and City of God each have their own technique of filming its narrative that draws viewers in immediately. Both films chose not to portray easily recognizable tourist or popular areas of the city that would allow the audience to distinguish exactly what city the film took place in plays an important role (Chetin, 2016). The use of innovative camera techniques utilized within both the films have a significant impact in the films success in appealing to a global transnational audience. Inarritu s use of handheld cameras, rapid editing, fluid camera work, and an extensive range of shots, from extreme long shots to extreme close ups all play a role in the film s appeal. The innovative camera techniques used do not utilize the realist style that was previously associated with films dealing with social deprivation; however, it does use identifiable genre characteristics, but in a way that is more specific for that location (Anon, 2016). The camera angles used within City of God create certain atmospheres and alter the meaning of a scene. The film editing creates a world and a feeling that absorbs the audience and transports them to a place they have never been to. The opening scene begins with a nice atmosphere of people playing music and dancing. Then it is seen from the chicken s perspective. It watches as the knives sharpen and other chickens are being killed. It runs away and can be seen as symbolizing Rocket s attempt to flee from the gang life. The mixture of the camera angles builds up suspense. The variation of high and low angles accentuate the disordered way the city is built up from different layers of houses, small shacks and streets. • 3. A Visit to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Essay A group of us Arts and Music students used the day on Wednesday to go into the city to visit the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. It was a cold, breezy day so we were all bundled up in jackets and hats. As we got off the E train and walked toward the museum, its appearance was not what I expected it to be. The museum was an elegant, beautiful building made of what looked to be marble; not the big, brick monstrosity I had expected. Once we walked into the museum, it was even more elegant on the inside. The marble staircase had sculptures on each side leading up to the rotunda where white Christmas lights were strung around the banister in decoration for the Christmas season. Picasso s painting entitled Standing Figure depicts a nude woman with her arms crossed behind her head. It was painted in 1908 during a key period of invention and experimentation, as Picasso began to construct his paintings in a new way. The figure is translated into simplified, geometric forms, reflecting Picasso s interest in the art of Africa and Oceania. Using only a few colors, he focuses the viewer s attention on the intersection of these geometric forms. It seems as though Picasso uses the blue lines in this painting like some sort of directional device, drawing attention to the outline of the woman s figure. As we discussed in class, the style of cubism uses multiple or contrasting vantage points. Another element of cubism is simplifying more complicated scenes into geometric forms. Cubism rejected the inherited concept that art should copy nature, or that they should adopt the traditional techniques of perspective, modeling, and foreshortening. They wanted instead to emphasize the two dimensionality of the canvas. Turner s Fall of the Rhine at Schaffhausen , painted between 1805 and 1806, creates a sense of panic for the viewer. The water has an overwhelming presence in this piece. Compared to the force of nature in the waterfall, the people and animals are dwarfed. One woman is depicted rushing to try and save her child. Turner captured the force of the waterfall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Isaiah 53 Essay mission God has commissioned to the people due to their stubbornness. Thus, Israel was delivered up to plunderers and robbers (42:22 25). This rebellious servant is in paradoxical relationship with the ideal servant figure in 42:1 9, creating tension between them. The blind and deaf servant theme continues in 43:1 13, introducing the task of the servant as God s witness. In spite of the fragility of the servant, God still loves the servant Israel and wills to use the servant as his witness among the nations (43:10, 12; 44:8).26 God s original purpose in choosing his servant is for the nations to experience God s incomparable sovereign power and for his glory to be proclaimed among the nations, but the servant keeps failing to faithfully accomplish the task. Nevertheless, God s unconditional grace and the promise of redemption to his servant Israel are repeatedly declared in the subsequent passage (43:22 44:23). This unit s uniqueness is the transformation of the descendants of the servant through the outpouring of the Spirit upon them (44:3 5) and the forgiveness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historical critical scholars suggest that the identity of the servant is an anonymous contemporary of Second Isaiah, Second Isaiah himself, a group (Israel, ideal Israel, a remnant), the Davidic messiah, the king Jehoiachin (597 B.C.), the exiled people, and so on. However, the question of the identity of the servant remains intractable among scholars. As Clines points out, there is an intentional opacity about the text. Moreover, the highly poetic and rhetorical nature in the language of Isaiah 53 prevents us from acquiring the precise historical information of the servant s identity. The questions concerning the identity of the servant seem to be secondary in the movement of thought in 52:13 53:12. • 7. The Organizational Behavior And Direction Of Change Self Reflection In my current profession the organizational behavior and direction of change is influenced by the organization s culture. Organizational behavior occurs in all organizations but and shapes and develops the culture without the employees ever being aware. Culture can be described as the particular roles and values that people are accustomed to in a workplace. Culture can vary from organization to organization. Before taking this course at Cornerstone, organizational behavior and change was an unfamiliar notion. After taking this course I have a better sense of my role as a leader within my current profession. I have been able to further expound on the concept of what drives people at work, whether it is prestige, money or power. I am now able to utilize the concepts from the CQ model and recognize our own use of the steps in Kotter s Model. CQ Model Many people think of culture as the specific food a person eat, their traditional family values or a person s ethnic background. Although these assumptions are comprised in the explanation of culture, it is not limited to only the customs described. In fact culture refers to behavior, values and norms of a particular environment. This environment in this case is the workplace. Utilizing the CQ Model or Cultural Intelligence Model, I was able to recognize my own strengths and areas that need improvement. The CQ Model was developed by David Livermore which summed up people s cultural capabilities and ability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As well have time to play with other kids, and just interact with there own family member. In the article, Screen time: A guide for parents states, keeping computers out of the bedroom, and keep them in a common area in your house. This will make sure that the child isn t using their computers/ tablets during the time they have to rest. Just having the parent take action in how much kids need to spend time in the screens can be a good start. This comical yet heartwarming musical portrays the story of a young woman following an ex love to Harvard Law School only to realize the potential she possessed within herself and in the new life she creates for her own. After viewing this hit Broadway production, I am fascinated with how this theatre play was brought to life on stage with the lighting, sound, spacing and overall entertainment from the cast to the costumes. Altogether, this play is one of my all time favorite productions and it is one that keeps my attention from the moment it takes off to the closing of the curtain at the end. The main character, Elle Woods, played by Laura Bell Bundy in the Broadway production, soared though this musical with her singing, dancing and radiating energy. Bundy was a sight to see on the stage as she made every line believable while achieving at looking like she was having the time of her life throughout the entire production. • 12. Examples Of Existentialism In The Goldfinch The Goldfinch is mostly a work on existentialism. The main character, Theo Decker, is taken from his happy life in New York with his mother, to his destructive life in Las Vegas with his father. After his mother died his life starts his destructive path down mostly existentialism. For the most part the book is a work of existentialism, except for a few key details for existentialism. People are not based on pre judged thing out of the characters control. A prime example of this is when Boris started to date a girl he meet, Theo makes a lot of comments showing his dislike for her. One of the details that is the book s best example of existentialism is, Life is Random . Theo s life is random right from the moment he nearly misses getting killed at the museum. His mother gets killed, his father takes him in, he meets boris who is his bad influence, and his father only cares about money; just some of the random things in his life. • 13. Persuasive Essay On True Education A true education can be defined as enough knowledge given to a student to be successful after completing school. The purpose of school is to give students this true education, but as time passes, so must the old ways of accomplishing this. Reformists have made an effort to adjust the education system to accompany the changing economy and surpass competition, and in doing so, have lost sight of a true education. The schools of today s society attempt to prepare students for the future by providing them with basic academic skills; although these skills are handy for doing well on standardized tests, they are nearly ineffectual for thriving in daily life. The first time the education of children became serious was in the Age of Enlightenment. During this time, the quality of education was based on the economy, thus it was a primitive basis of education. The current education system still runs on some of these old ideas, but in truth, the validity of these principles has expired (RSA). However, the education system has developed somewhat, and some aspects of the information taught to students have advanced. Nevertheless, it is advancing in the wrong direction. The education students receive prepares them for college; it doesn t prepare them for any other pathway. When we went to school, we were kept there with a story which is if you worked hard and did well and got a college degree, you would have a job (RSA). This is a common misconception presently, because some students choose not to attend college, and they find success elsewhere. The mentality that one has to go to college to become successful is inapt and was more accurate in the Age of Enlightenment, when those without an education simply ended up in the factories and coal mine with insufficient wages. One effect from the changing view of the ideal education system is the pressure on the schools themselves. With a rapidly changing world, countries find themselves competing for the upper hand; this includes having the best educated citizens. Hence, the US tries to cram as much information into the heads of students as fast as possible. The students have only the slightest understanding of what they learned before they are pushed on to the next subject. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. East Of Eden Directed By Elia Kazan The 1955 dramatic film, East of Eden, directed by Elia Kazan, is a movie adaptation of the popular book written in 1952. Throughout this drama, moviegoers embark on a journey through various thematic topics such as the idea of good vs evil, the importance of repentance and redemption, and the human ideal of free will. For example, multiple characters in the film are split into two categories: those who are naturally good and those who are naturally evil. With this idea, characters either act how they are born or act on their free will to be who they want to be. The film employs a wide cast of talented actors who bring all their characters and roles to life. The main character, Cal Trask, however is played by probably the most famous actor of the bunch, James Dean, who plays it awesomely. Cal s character is supposed to be of someone who is always internally troubling and confused and James easily shows this in this role. Richard Davalos, plays the character of Aron, Cal s brother, with absolute beauty as well. Aron, in the book, is supposed to represent what is good and innocent and Richard shows this characteristic evidently in his acting style. The father of Cal and Aron, Adam, is then played by Raymond Massey who is able to tie the story together very well. Raymond s acting in being constantly angry and disappointed in Cal is what allows James to bring out the light in Cal since Adam has a huge effect on Cal s character in the story. • 15. Euphemism In Othello In civilisations today it is not uncommon for people to take note of someone that is of African descent in a high position in society. This is something that is not uncommon in past centuries as well. Othello is a romantic tragedy about a couple, in the Shakespearian era, that undergoes trials that test their faith in one another. In the end, they are not able to stand up to the challenge and fall, or are pushed, into the cold embrace of death. Long before the grim reaper takes either of them it is demonstrated how Othello, the husband, is affected by his African heritage in Desdemona s, the wife s, caucasian society. In this well written play, composed by the author and playwright William Shakespeare, uses indirect characterization, euphemisms and specific monologues to reinforce the idea that even though Othello is a high ranking officer and skilled warrior he is still subject to racial prejudice from his colleagues, and this proves that skin color can be an influence on life no matter the attributes of an individual during this particular period in history. In the beginning of the play Shakespeare makes it apparent that Brabantio, a Venetian of high political standing, sees Othello as a good friend and an enjoyable source of entertainment. Her father lov d me, oft invited me; Still question d me the story of my life. The letter attributes the writing to Peter. Similarities in style with Acts and the Gospels seem to confirm the attribution along with a lack of objections from the early church about authorship. This coincides with tradition and with Paul s correspondence since, according to 2 Tim. 4:11, Mark went to Rome in the mid 60 s. Thus, Peter is writing from Rome at the beginning of the Neronic persecution before his martyrdom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is apocalyptic literature and what distinct rules of interpretation apply to it? The genre of apocalyptic literature is varied but was well known in the first century and can also be seen in other Christian and Jewish sources such as Daniel, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Jesus Olivet Discourse, and portions of 1 and 2 Thessalonians. This type of writing makes extensive use of symbolism, grotesque and outlandish imagery, and numbers infused with cryptic/symbolic meaning. It was often written in times of crisis, and can depict past, present, and future events intertwined or leading to moments of Godly intervention and triumph over evil forces. Apocalyptic literature ought to be studied and analyzed in light of first century history. The most important hermeneutical principle we can follow is, to make sense out of the text as a 1st century Christian in Asia minor would have understood it, and not as a modern 21st century Christians infusing meaning anachronistically into the text as it is often done. A literal interpretation is almost always the wrong approach to interpret such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequences In Lord Of The Flies A World Without Consequences In the novel Lord Of The Flies, the characters are thrust onto a deserted island, outside the confines of their regimented society. As a result, they slowly lose their morality because there are no consequences for their actions thus shifting from civilization to savagery. This shift was first seen from the boy s actions. Once on the island, there are no rules and the boys play all day, especially the littluns and two boys named Roger and Maurice who destroy all their sand castles. Therefore, Jack is freed from his morality and therefore the is no longer any consequences for his actions as well as all the boys eventually becoming unrecognizable; they are no longer individuals and cannot be distinguished from savages. This is the case when Ralph and Piggy go to Castle Rock a when the boys who joined Jack s group appeared, savages appeared, painted out of recognition, edging round the ledge to the neck (175). The masks hide their identities, the boys are no longer civilized boys, but a group of savages. However, the easiest way to cook these delicious molluscs is steaming. This method requires the steam created from the cooking liquid to cook the mussels. The cooking liquid can be clam juice, salty water, wine, or even beer. For this method, the cooking liquid is combined with herbs such as rosemary or sage and softened shallots (cooking them in butter or oil for few minutes). The mussels are placed into the saucepan after they are washed and given a good scrub. However, mussels that are opened when tapped on a counter or chipped or cracked must be discarded. Then the saucepan is placed on high heat for a few minutes. Mussels are finished cooking when most of the shells are opened, about 5 minutes. However, there may be some that stay closed after cooking. These, just like the broken shell mussels, must be discarded. Moreover, mussels are great for grilling. Just heat grill to hot and place the whole mussels on the grill. When the mussels start to open, they are done and ready to eat. Just finish them with a sprinkle of ground black pepper. In the end, you discover all of your funding and expenses were used by the school for other political campaigns, diverting to other private interests rather than your child s needs. This is an example of corruption in society, just as displayed in the novella Animal Farm, by George Orwell. Condensing the story, main characters Napoleon and Squealer rise to power and set out to create a paradise of equality and prosperity for all animals. What the community soon finds is that the growing tyranny leaves the once bright future crumbling at the seams. Squealer and Napoleon are both narcissists that manipulate Animal Farm according to their needs only. During the introduction of Animal Farm, Orwell unfolds a character whose name was Mr. Jones. He was the owner of the Manor Farm with a lack of dictatorship and leadership skills that left his farm in shambles. The animals on the estate were kicked around and were given the bare minimum, shown by Orwell when he lists The life on an animal is misery and slavery: that is the plain truth. We can also here that the main theme has moved from the high voices to the low voices throughout the movement. By the end of the movement the we have the woodwinds completely taking over the melody while the stings are playing the accompanying parts. Starting at birth, it is vital for bonds that enforce these needs are made. One way for this type of connecting to be made is through attachment. Attachment theory is defined by oxford dictionaries as a theory that emphasizes the bond formed by an infant toward its mother (or other principal caregiver) and its pre eminent influence on behavior in adolescent and adult relationships. (Oxford) This theory developed from a British psychologist by the name of John Bowlby between the 1950s and 1960s. From day one, babies are pretty much helpless. On the other hand, perception can be defined as our recognition and interpretation of sensory information. It is the lens through which we view reality. Just like the examples I showed before, there is no fixed meaning to anything because you can always look at something in a different way and interpret different meanings. Things in themselves are inherently neutral, it is the way we perceive them that changes its meaning. For instance, your day can be awful or great depending on your perspective. Our solar system contains mercury, Venus, earth, mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. We have only explored minimal amounts of mars using rovers. (En.wikipedia.org, 2016) Milky Way Contains ... Solar flares occur when magnetic energy is released by the Sun during magnetic storms, which we see as sunspots. In sunspots, the magnetic lines are twisted and they spin, much like a tornado would on Earth. (sun facts, 2012) How the sun began Gravity drew dust and gas together to create the solar system. The sun formed first from the material closely by the planets. Waves of energy traveling through space pressed clouds of such particles closer together, and gravity causes them to collapse in on themselves. As the material drew together, gravity caused it to spin. The spin caused the cloud to flatten into a disk like a pancake. In the centre, the material clumped together to form a protostar that would eventually become the sun. The protostar was a ball of hydrogen and helium not yet powered by fusion. Over the course of 50 million years, the temperature and pressure of the material inside increased, jumpstarting the fusion of hydrogen that drives the sun today. (Credit, 2016) The suns fusion and the atmosphere The sun is made of 72% hydrogen, 26% helium and traces of oxygen, carbon, neon, nitrogen, magnesium, iron and silicon. The high amounts of ... • 43. Microaggression Essay Hi classmates, Here is my respond to the following questions: 1. Describe a time you committed a microaggression: I remember the incident during my stay in Spain. My friends introduced me to their friends and their families. My reaction to the greeting first alerted them, and then became the general fun, but I understand that for my part it was exactly a microaggression. At the moment of greeting, a person leanin towards you and thrice touches your cheek with his/her cheek, imitating a kiss, and you should greet this way with everyone. My first reaction I pulled away. The closest friend of my acquaintances perceived my reaction as a personal dislike. a) What was the underlying message? Please, do not touch me. It is my personal space. I do not cuddle, kissing with people I do not know. b) How did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plus, I asked my friends about whether there are any other things I should know about to react properly. d) How have you changed? At the other days, I had to communicate with a large group of people in business and in a more informal atmosphere and I was glad that I had prepared for this in advance and was ready to respond to the situation. Regardless of which country I am in, if possible I try to learn as much as possible about the very small things that really mean a lot. Ordinary greetings with new people, a good example of what I mean. 2. Describe a time you experienced a microaggression: Because English is my second language; most microaggressions are associated with this. Oh, you got an accent, are not you an American? Do you live in this country and do not speak English? Often in my face people express their attitude to the whole nation, to which I belong. a) What was the underlying message? You are not like us. What are you doing here? You are less intelligent. You are from a wild strange country b) How did you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Persuasive Essay On Black Hate In the same way, the Spelman College administration, faculty, and students that disregard the West End community that surrounds the college only contribute to the erosion of our community and our people. Although this is not a language of hate, it is a clear display of indifference which communicates the same thing. Choosing to disregard the homeless, pay little attention to the gentrification that is rampantly kicking our people out of our community, or ignore ways to provide opportunities or exposure to the high school students in our own back yard; are we truly activating black love as political resistance or are we ignoring the needs of the people that are around us every day? We need to realize that there are two vehicles that drive the future of the black community: one of black love and one of black hate. Realize that, although society drives black hate we can be passengers in that car. We can disagree and reject their ideology, all the while internalizing it. Even though we are not driving, our inability to articulate black love as fluently as we articulate black hate, allows black hate to trump black love. Therefore, in our lives, in our homes, in our communities, and on our HBCU campuses the darkness and degradation of blackness thrives by separating us from our own people and making it seem normal to demean ourselves, our race, and our people. Is this behavior not subtly mimicking those of the oppressor? Although some our actions contradict our feelings toward ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Essay on Two Months Two Months Personal Narrative The day my sister left for England, something inside of me woke up. It felt like the desert sand being surprised by cool wet rain, my amazement and surprise was just the same. The reality that this was really happening, we really were being separated, all became too much for me. As close as two siblings could be, it is often difficult to distinguish between Georgie and I. One wonders, where does Georgie start, and where do I begin? Who developed the sarcastic wit, and who picked it up as the years went by? My life is so extraordinary linked to this woman. She is vibrant, she is intelligent. She is beauty that is discovered in the rarest of places, she is the lyrics in that sad song. She is the stars that I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the departure gate I tried to tell her just how much she meant to me, but I never did quite manage to find the right words. There was spluttering, hugging, pleading and kissing. Her boyfriend of four months, sobbing like a little boy, begging her not to go. My mother looking sordidly normal, making us all wonder why she was not wrought with despair. My grandpa shaking his head at the way the young lovers said goodbye, and my father beaming with pride that his daughter was taking on such a challenge. And then there was me, baffled and unable to speak, gagging on tears and clinging to her side. All too suddenly she walked into the line of assorted passengers, blending well with the crowd. I remember being amazed that she could stand there with such certainty, being willing to take the step onto the massive super white plane. After I felt sure she would not look back, she shot a glance my way, and I think it was then that I understood her. This was her life, and her chance to be free. This challenge was a mountain that no mountaineer would easily climb, and here she was, climbing so faithfully, her support network soon to be a million miles from her. Each step took her closer to the top, all the while dragging her further and further away. Later that night, at around eleven pm, I stared into the bottom of my glass, and wondered if ...
