Preschoolers Rationale Essay
Rationale: According to New York State Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core,
preschoolers should demonstrate understanding of typically occurring verbs and adjectives in relation
with their opposites (e.g. up, down, in, out).
Procedures: Opposites were addressed through several storybook readings, direct teaching, matching
activity, looking at picture cards, acting out opposites and in spontaneous conversations during free
choice and on the playground.
Present Status: For both sessions, WL did not want to participate in the activity. During first session,
WL only repeated opposites on 2/3 opportunities with modeling. The expectation was decreased to
one word, as it was too demanding for him to produce the opposite pair. For the ... Show more content

Long Term Goal: The students will produce regular plural words at word level with 80% accuracy
with visual cues provided.
Rationale: According to the Shipley and McAfee (1998) and Chart of Normal Development: Infancy
to Six Years of Age, children between the ages of 3 years to 4 years should consistently be using
regular plurals (e.g. balls, dolls, houses).
Procedures: This goal was addressed through storybook readings, direct teaching with pictures and
objects, paper and glue activities, looking at singular and plural picture cards, and in spontaneous
conversations during free choice and on the playground.
Present Status: The first time the goal was targeted, WL did not participate in the activity. WL sat
through the second session, with the help of his aide, and achieved 3/3 opportunities with visual cues
and modeling. In the first session, TG repeated plurals on 7/11 opportunities and produced plurals on
4/11 opportunities. The second session, TG repeated plurals 2/4 opportunities and produced plurals on
2 opportunities with visual cues. For the first session, JA repeated plurals on 8/10 opportunities and
produced plurals on 2/10 opportunities. For the second session, JA repeated plurals on 3/3
opportunities. JA still required modeling from the clinician. Presently, none of the students have met
the goal, however, with more sessions the students will achieve the

The Role of Serotonin in Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia´s Cognitive symptoms include troubles with focusing or paying attention, using
information immediately after learning it, understanding information and using it to make decisions
(Meltzer, The Role of Serotonin in Schizophrenia, 2000).
Many areas of the brain, along with chemicals are affected in a schizophrenic patient. The structure
along with the function of the brain would be abnormal in comparison to a healthy functioning brain.
The causes of many symptoms contributing to schizophrenia are still unsure of, and are instead
hypothesised.
Schizophrenic patients are thought to have higher dopamine levels in their brains (overactive
dopamine system). Many antipsychotics are designed to block dopamine receptors, and bind them,
helping patients to improve and experience less severe symptoms, further proving the dopamine
hypothesis. It was also found that drugs that increase dopamine levels (amphetamines) have caused
more psychotics symptoms. This could partially result in a few psychotic symptoms occurring in the
illness (GROMISCH, 2013).
Research shows that there is a correlation between creative and dopamine receptor bindings in the
thalamus (PHD, 2012). The thalamus relays and processes information such as visual and auditory
information. It was found that both creative minds and schizophrenics minds have lower dopamine
receptors, this could result in why schizophrenics have abnormal thought processes and why some
normal functioning brains tend to be

Essay On Colosseum
Module 2: Age of Perfection and Empire (Colosseum Negative) 336!
The Colosseum (72AD 80AD) demonstrates that function ( shelter, program, organization, use,
occupancy, materials, social purpose ) informs style ( line, outline, shape, composition ) (Figure 1)
(Hendrix 2013, 1; John, Sheard and Vickery 2007, 4). Built as a theatre to entertain Roman citizens,
the Colosseum s shape, size, tiered seating, arena and rhythmical arches emerges from the functional
requirements to stage entertainment, maximise spectatorship, manage crowds and provide structural
stability (John, Sheard and Vickery 2007, 1). The cross section of the Colosseum (Figure 2) reveals
the translation of function into form:

Therefore, whilst varying facades and building technology may disguise usage norms , the form of the

Module 3: Heavenly Pursuits (Gothic Affirmative)
The intricate carvings, stained glass windows, statues, jewelled ornamentation and elaborate
paintwork of the Gothic cathedral augments the architectural form.
A theological shift during the 12th century triggered an architectural transition from the dark, heavy
Romanesque church to the illuminated, soaring and delicate Gothic cathedral (Figure 8) (Ching,
Jarzomebek, and Prakash 2011, 369, 420). Annihilating the mass of the Romanesque, Gothic
architecture employed slender columns, vaulted ceilings, pointed arches, flying buttresses and large
windows to achieve a light, skeletal structure with soaring heights and a light filled interior (Figure 9)
(Nuttgens 1997, 160). The decorative carving further reduces the mass to create a delicate lacework,
that coupled with sculptured jambs, piers and archivolts, enhances and disguises the architecture
leading Scott (1879, 313) to ...question whether the sculpture of these cathedrals does not excel the
architecture (Figure 10). Significantly, the corporeal light filtering through the stained glass
(allegorically the divine illumination of God) and the delicate pillars that draw the eye to the soaring
vaulted ceiling combine to create a system of

Native American Analysis
Always historicize! This famous dictum becomes the trigger for anyone who wants to have an
investigation by looking at the significance of historical dimension of a text. Such investigation also
examines the cultural and social objects in a larger social relation. As history is the key, the
investigation further goes to use it in order to restore and reshape our perspectives on a particular text.
This is not to say that after finding the connection our analysis is done, but it actually goes beyond
that. The assumption that a text reflects what is in the society, is enriched and explored more by using
Jameson s critical investigation. Such framework of analysis enables us to see more. Just like what the

Empathy In The Odysseus
Empathy in the odyssey We often think that we are a caring and kind person but when we become
tired, stressed, or rushed all empathy we have can seem to vanish. We start to put our own needs first
and others second. But what if we weren t always like this? The odyssey is a perfect example of what
happens when we don t have empathy for others. In book 9 Odysseus and Polyphemus fail to
understand each other leading to some unfortunate results. Polyphemus shows almost no empathy in
his interaction with Odysseus but he shows even less, showing that without empathy pain is inevitable.
Odysseus first displays a great lack of empathy for the cyclops when comparing how different his
lifestyle is to Polyphemus . For example when describing how the Polyphemus lives he says in
disgust, He was quite unlike any man who eats bread, more like some wooded peak in the high hills,
standing out alone apart from the others. (9.190 192) It is apparent from this quote that Odysseus does
not respect those who work on their own. He thinks that Polyphemus is uncivilized and a lesser being
just because his lifestyle is different from that of Odysseus . In addition Odysseus distances himself
from the cyclops by comparing their size, describing the cyclops as, so huge he cannot possibly be
man . Rather than trying to find similarities between himself and the cyclops he obsesses on their
differences. Based on the fact that Odysseus clearly does not even try to understand what the cyclops
life is

Explain The Properties Of Water Cohesion
Water has five main properties. It s first is its attraction to other polar molecules. Because of its
cohesion to other water molecules, it is a major property. Cohesive forces are responsible for surface
tension. This causes water to form spherical droplets; this also allows it to support small objects if
they have been placed carefully on the surface. Due to the hydrogen bonds in the water, this allows the
water molecules to hold together. As they are exposed to air on one side, there will be neighbouring
water molecules to bond with, this forms stronger bonds with the existing neighbours. As a result of
the cohesion, the surface tension allows insects such as Water Striders to walk on the surface of water.
As opposed to is adhesion. Adhesion is the water s attraction between molecules of a ... Show more

The high specific heat (hsh) is the amount of energy that is absorbed. As a result, water molecules
form many hydrogen bonds. A great amount of heat is needed to increase the temperature of liquid
water as the heat is also needed to break hydrogen bonds between molecules. The (hshc) is defined as
the amount of heat needed to increase the temperature of one gram of a substance to one degree
Celsius, this is called a calorie. By breaking the bonds, water molecules can move freely, which
creates more friction and additional heat that allows a higher temperature. The hydrogen bonds absorb
the heat as they break, and also release heat as they form, this minimizes temperature change. Water
also helps maintain a moderate temperature for organisms and environments e.g warm blooded
animals distribute heat through their bodies. Due to its high specific heat capacity, water minimizes
changes in temperature. Waters (hshc) is five times greater than sand, as the land cools more quickly
than the sea as the sun sets, the slow cooling water then releases heat to nearby land amid the

Women Should Not Have the Option of Artificial Fertilization
I don t believe that women should have the option of artificial fertilization because the
women can have emotionally harmful side effects. According to a study released by the Baird
commission in April about 2,900 women were enrolled in IVF programs n Canada in 1991
resulting in 189 births, while 3,400 used artificial insemination in fertility clinics, leading to 360
births. (Nichols 2) The fact that the success rate is that low is sad a woman could try and try to
get pregnant and go through so many treatments hoping at the same time that eventually they
could have a child but fail most of the time.
All 32 mature oocytes were injected. Seven zygotes showed normal fertilization (22%)
and one zygote showed pronuclear fertilization and 24 oocytes (75%) did not show any
sign of fertilization. Most of the embryos had poor morphology before the embryo
transfer, but there was at least one embryo available for transfer in each cycle....The forst
for IVF cycles did ot result in a pregnancy. In the fifth IVF circle two oocytes were
fertilized normally and one oocyte showed one pronuclear fertilization. (Francsovits, etat
2)
This piece of evidence is very demoralizing for a woman that is reaching out to their last option to
have a child of her own.
The second reason I thoroughly disagree to the option of artificial fertilization is because it
causes physically harmful problems for the woman going through this treatment. When blood and

French New Wave Film Techniques
Breathless is a 1960 French New Wave film, written and directed by Jean Luc Godard, about a
wandering criminal and his girlfriend. The film premiered in France, attracting two million viewers
and winning both the Prix Jean Vigo and the Berlin International Film Festival Award for Best
Director in 1960. Godard s interesting use of numerous jump cuts in the story as well as documentary
style cinematography is what makes Breathless so iconic and recognized as one of the earliest and
most influential examples of the French New Wave genre. One of the main components of the film is
its use of jump cuts. In Godard s work, every scene with slow intervals was edited or removed,
creating multiple jump cuts that represented the passage of time. This feature was a common method
used in the French New Wave genre of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main character breaks the forth wall, a method that dismisses the common film making practice of
the time, mirroring the rebellious nature once again. The French New Wave genre strived to go against
the aspects of Hollywood professionalism of other films, and Godard does so in many of his works. In
Breathless, as the camera focuses on the main character, he looks right back and speaks to the
audience. This technique allows the story to progress through as the main character narrates. Apart
from jump cutting, Godard uses documentary style cinematography to differ from the sporadic effects
of his editing. The film s cinematography is captured in a hand held like manner, creating a sense of
realism. Godard used continuous shots for many of his dialogue scenes, following the main character
in his more slow paced, quiet moments, drawing out the mood. Breathless captures the New Wave
genre in these methods of breaking Hollywood s typical rules in film making and its use of
documentary style

The Impact Of Age On Participants Perceptions Of The...
Due to the global proliferation of social media, Facebook and other social networking sites (SNS),
researchers have taken an interest in studying the nature of how people utilise SNS especially with
regard to age disparities. However, there is a lack of qualitative research that investigates participants
values and perceptions of SNS (Pfeil, Arjan and Zaphiris 2009). The purpose of this research is to
explore this question by investigating the influence of age on participants perceptions of the SNS,
Facebook. Facebook was selected for this study due its popularity, as identified by Tong et al. (2008)
as having a membership population of approximately eighteen million. The following literature review
assisted us to narrow our focus for our own research objective. The three main points discussed here
are, differences in the utilisation of SNS and perceived well being outcomes achieved through the use
of Facebook between older and younger users of the site; factors that influence levels of technology
usage such as, well being, socio economic status, psychosocial circumstances and age; and differences
between age groups in perceptions of SNS and levels of social capital gained from SNS. Hayes, van
Stolk Cooke and Muench (2015) suggest that age is a significant factor in exploring differences in
how Facebook is used. This study looked at how participants utilise Facebook and participants
perceived well being outcomes. Data were collected via an anonymous survey that asked

The feeding of the prisoners was a major issue in the concentration camps during the holocaust. The
jewish prisoners were fed three times a day in the concentration camps, those three times were
morning, noon, and evening. (living conditions, labor and executions) It wasn t the amount of food
given a day that was an issue the nutritional value that the Nazis had for the concentration camps.
(living conditions, labor and executions) When the Nazis would feed the prisoners they gave the less
physically demanding workers one thousand three hundred calories per day and gave the ones who
engaged in hard labor one thousand seven hundred calories per day. (living conditions, labor and
executions) This was an issue because after several weeks on such starvation in the camps, most
prisoners began to experience what is called organic deterioration that led to the well known
Muzulman state. (living conditions, labor and executions) This was when the prisoners ended being so
tiny, extreme physical exhaustion, and soon ended up in death. (living conditions, labor and

concentration camps. Labor in some concentration camps was the way of destroying prisoners, they

While British general John Burgoyne was nicknamed Gentleman Johnny due to his adoration for

experienced general who have served in various combats, Burgoyne s over confidence of himself and
his plan to conquer the Hudson River Valley contributed to the defeat at the Battle of Saratoga. It
became a noteworthy and defining moment in the war as it gave the Americans certainty and French
alliance. First of all, Burgoyne s early life and career was embedded with comfort and fame which

addition, transportation difficulties obstructed the armed force s progress. Despite difficulties,
Burgoyne thrived on the war zone. On July 6, his armed force caught Fort Ticonderoga, managing a

Biome are Constellations of Adaptations
Biomes are appropriate conditions for organizing the natural world because the organisms that live in
them common constellations of adaptations, particularly the climate of each of the areas and the
characteristic vegetation types that develops in these divisions. It should be understood that the
climate is perhaps the most important in determining classes of individuals who may live in an area
and the ways they should be amended to live under different conditions of temperature and
precipitation and seasonal distribution of these factors element. Every place on Earth has its own
climate, influenced by both macroclimate regions as the particular microclimate. The soils are very
important because they are essential to determine the types of plants that will grow into a bioclimatic
zone in partical, in addition, also as substrates for animals serve. In turn, the soils are heavily
influenced by regional climate, as well as the geology of the bedrock. At the same time we have to
keep in mind the diversity of plants like the flora just like the diversity of the fauna as well as the
adaptation of both. The tundra Plant life tends to be of low growth and, during the short summer, the
birds arrive in large numbers to feed on the insects that are born in this period. The climate is cold

Essay about Voice over Internet Protocol
Voice over Internet Protocol
Definition of VoIP
Mr. Watson, come here, I want you! These were the first words that were spoken over the phone back
on March 10 1876. If you combine this invention with the same invention of the first computer that
was completed nearly 70 years later in 1946, you would then be able to access VoIP. VoIP is also
known as voice over internet protocol. VoIP is in essence the ability to talk with ones voice via
computer to computer. In the next few pages you will learn about the history of VoIP, how it works,
the requirements that are needed to use VoIP, the benefits and risks of this type of technology, and
lastly you will get a glimpse at the future of VoIP.
Not many people know what VoIP is or even that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the introduction of Ethernet services the quality was able to get better. There was better clarity
but there were still some bugs due to static and difficulty making connections.
In the beginning VoIP traffic represented rather less than 1% of voice traffic. In 1998 three IP switch
manufacturers introduced equipment capable of switching (intertangent, 2005). With these
implementations by the year 2000 the voice traffic had risen only two more percent to 3%. This is not
a huge leap but there are many advances that are still being made and the numbers will continue to
grow.
The real breakthrough occurred when such systems like Cisco Systems and Nortel started producing
VoIP equipment that was capable of switching (Viopreview, 2005). With the introduction of switching
it was no longer the CPU s responsibility to switch the voice packets. With the introduction of the new
switching this made it to where the computer did not require specific hardware to be able to use VoIP.
When the switches were introduced this made the hardware cheaper and allowed larger companies to
be able to implement their calls via the internet.
VoIP has not really caught on with the general public, but has been primarily used by large
corporations. The general public does not really search out things such as this because they sometimes
become complacent in their day to day life. On the other hand, large companies will

Services such as Netflix and Hulu, along with other platforms that employ digital distribution create a
prominent challenge for Comcast. To most consumers, online streaming is seen as a better option
compared to cable due to its convenience, lack of commercials, lower prices, and the availability to
binge watch (See Exhibit 1 for the leading video subscriptions in the U.S in 2016). This increasingly
growing platform presents a challenge for Comcast and how the company should respond to the
changing environment.
Strategic Solutions
In response to Google s initiative for fiber based high speed internet service, Comcast should focus on
adapting these fiber optic capacities as a means of improving their own internet service. Comcast
holds a competitive advantage in infrastructure, and by updating their broadband network with those
driving Google Fiber, Comcast would be utilizing this advantage. An upgrade of increased speeds and
reliability will secure Comcast s dominant position in the internet provider market.
Pros:
This will reduce the risk of customers switching to a different service provider for more advanced

By providing top notch streaming capabilities, Comcast will be able to remain a frontrunner of new
developments.

Baroque Music
In researching musical eras that have greatly influenced music, there are two that have stood out. The
Baroque Era and Classical Era have generated artists that are well known. Both eras play an important
part of history with artists who have influenced artists of today. In this essay, there will be a discussion
on both types of music and differences of each. This discussion will also include a discussion on
artists of this era.
Baroque is a musical era that falls between two other important eras in music. These two eras of music
are the Renaissance Era and the Classical Era. This is roughly a period between the 1600s and 1750.
The era of Baroque music was one that showed spectacular progress of knowledge with scientific
discoveries, mathematical advances, and philosophical explorations (Thornburg, 2014). The music
from this era can still be recognized today. Music from the Baroque period is the earliest European
music which we still generally recognize, whether it is the theme from Masterpiece Theater, the
Hallelujah Chorus from Handel s Messiah, or any number of other pieces (Thornburg, 2014) . Most of
the Baroque music of that time was written on demand for specific occasions by those who thought of
themselves as craftsmen instead of artists. In listening to this style of music, there is a regular, ... Show

Safety Management System Essay
Safety Management Systems (SMS) have been presented as the future state of commercial aviation.
The objective of this capstone is to have a better understanding of the SMS role in aviation. At United
Airlines for example, SMS Corrective Action is used as a reporting tool during the performance of the
safety risk management. SMS is characterized by four key elements also known as the four pillars
(icao.int). They are, safety risk management, safety policy, safety assurance and safety promotion.
Those pillars are the foundation of SMS, therefore, regroup all the main factors that affect the
commercial and general aviation industry safety. Safety Management System (SMS), according to the
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a systematic approach to managing safety, such as
organizational structures, accountabilities, policies, and procedures (icao.int). Unfortunately, couple
years ago, as the aviation industry was getting more and more attention from people, airline owners
did not pay attention to safety, it was the race for profit not safety. Customer well being came before

Why Is Huck Finn Wrong
Tabitha Perez 08/16/17 One of the main scenes in TAHF that came to mind after being asked which
scene I could personally relate to is when Huck Finn just can t seem to avoid moral conflicts. There
have been many times in my life when I wasn t sure of what to do in a sticky situation and that s when
I question myself most. Finn did what s best, which is following his instincts no matter what others
tell him to do or say about difficult times. In the text it states, Pap always said it warn t no harm to
borrow things if you was meaning to pay them back some time, but the widow said it warn t anything
but a soft name for stealing, and no decent body would do it. Jim said he reckoned the widow was
partly right and pap was partly right; so the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most times throughout the first few sections of the novel I felt bad for him, but than again he is a liar,
cheats, and steals to make it down the river. In the text it says, What did you say your name was,
honey? M Mary Williams. Honey, I thought you said it was Sarah when you first come in? Oh, yes m,
I did. Sarah Mary Williams. Sarah s my first name. Some calls me Sarah, some calls me Mary. Here,
not only once but twice does Huck lie to get out of a sticky situation. I feel bad for Huck Finn because
although he never did enjoy school, he was taken out at such a young age so he has barely any
educational background. His father is an abusive alcoholic that has never wanted the best for him.
Huck is a very practical, creative, yet logical young boy. Although Huck is uncertain about helping a
runaway slave down the river, he still proceeds to come to his own conclusions about important
decisions even if they contradict society s norms. His personality assists him to survive the abuse from
his father, the violence from the river con men, and outsmart the town. Huck Finn is very thoughtful,
intelligent, and rarely influenced by others. In conclusion, during the first few chapters of TAHF I feel
as though Huck Finn is a very smart boy who evaluates any decisions before handling them and will
go to any matter in order to survive

Legal Ethical Issues with Advertising and Online Counseling
Since the end of World War 2, the technology one sees around them and uses everyday has grown
exponentially. In the field of counseling, phones, fax machines, copiers, and computers are all used to
run everyday operations and transfer information. Despite how great technology can be, ethical issues
can arise because of it. For example, talking on the phone with a client in a crisis situation can create a
condition in which confidentiality can be breeched. (McMinn, 1999).
One new way in which technology has been used to extend the services of the counseling field is
through online counseling. According to Corey (2011), online counseling can be beneficial because
some consumers want brief and anonymous therapy, some clients who are ... Show more content on

LaCombe s online counseling business and advertising.
The first ethical issue with this online counseling venture is the fact that it is labeled as an online
counseling program for people in crisis, but one does not need to provide their name to get therapy.
This breaks two ethical codes found in the American Counseling Association s Code of Ethics (2005).
The first one is ACA: A.1.a which cites that as a counselor, one is responsible for the welfare of the
client s and promoting that welfare. The second one is A.12.c which states that counselors should
avoid using technology assisted counseling services when it would be better or more appropriate to
use face to face services (ACA, 2005). If a suicidal individual goes on Dr. LaCombe s site and let s
their online therapist know, how is said therapist supposed to get that individual help if they do not
know their name? In addition, it may be more appropriate to help people in crisis in person as opposed
to over the internet.
Secondly, according to Corey (2011), many online counseling providers do not have an intake
procedure, a confidentiality waiver, or informed consent write up. Dr. LaCombe s site does not have
an intake procedure or confidentiality waiver. Her website has some aspects of informed consent such
as a statement about live counseling versus online counseling and payment. That said she does not talk

Dust Jackets For The Niggerati
All Stories Are True: Visual Narrative and Revisionary History in the Artwork of Kara Walker In the
collection of essays titled Dust Jackets for the Niggerati (2013), Kevin Young s seminal article Miss
Pipi s Blue Tale details Kara Walker s work with the American Bureau of Freedmen, Refugees, and
abandoned Lands, the office that kept records of the displaced blacks after the American Civil War,
documenting the violent offenses enacted by whites upon blacks at that time. Walker s exhibition
Bureau of Refugees (2007), a series of silhouette collages in reds, greens, and blacks, draws from
these historical accounts not only to call attention to the atrocities of white violence against black
bodies, but also to reclaim and lend voice to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What might it mean then, to be a refugee not from another country, but in one s very homeland? (45).
These questions are posed by what Young calls the refugee art of Kara Walker. As displaced subjects,
the characters in Walker s art take on a renewed sense of empowerment even while falling victim to
and participating in acts of violence and humiliation. This paper seeks to explore issues of
spectatorship and agency in the artwork of Kara Walker, taking into special consideration the critical
essays of Kevin Young in the catalogue My Complement, My Enemy, My Oppressor, My Love (2007)
and Dust Jackets for the Niggerati (2013) alongside a full length study of the artist by Gwendolyn
DuBois Shaw titled Seeing the Unspeakable: The Art of Kara Walker (2004). Both authors discuss the
revisionary history of Walker s visual narratives, yet formulate conclusions from two very different
frames of reference. While Young examines Walker s art from various cultural and historical
perspectives, Shaw s reading takes into account the personal experiences that influence Walker s work.
Much of Walker s art takes the form of visual narrative, telling stories with images and words. The
artist has said that the genre of narrative allows her room to blend fact with fiction, creating new ways
to negotiate past experience and imagine the future. Walker takes ownership of the

Pros And Cons Of Uncorroborated Evidence
Firstly, uncorroborated evidence reduces the rate of perpetrators escaping from conviction. It is
pertinent to note that in most of the sexual assault cases where the child is the victim, there is often
little or no physical evidence. The child and the accused are likely to be the only witnesses. Due to the
requirement of corroborated evidence, where in fact, there is none, it had undoubtedly led to many
perpetrators escaping conviction as the alleged victim, the child s evidence is not corroborated and
there was nothing else to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. With the newly implemented section
where there is no requirement of corroborated evidence, the judge has the opportunity to consider the
child s uncorroborated evidence and able to access the weight to be accorded to such evidence in the
particular case. The weight is to be attached to the evidence or testimony of the child and is to be
assessed by the trier of fact but not the rigid requirement of corroborated evidence.
Besides, without the need of corroborated evidence, it is said to be more flexible compared to
requiring the corroborated evidence. The court is such situation will consider the facts and the
testimony of the child witness before convicting the defendant. Likewise, when corroboration is ...

Compare And Contrast Jazz And Hiphop
HipHop: The Grandchild of Jazz Music Hiphop is like one of the children of jazz music The one of
the famous American rappers, Nas said this. For well over a century now, jazz has been the chameleon
of American music. It has incorporated elements from classical, Latin, funk and R B. Moreover, jazz
itself has many different kinds of it, such as cool jazz, bebop, swing jazz, blues and free jazz. Some
people have said that mixture of jazz and hiphop is one of positive example of its work. On the other
hand, others have insisted that it is not and those two performance styles have such incompatible
elements. I think that jazz represents just a portion of the broader landscape of AfricanAmerican
music. Jazz and hiphop, two languages born out of AfricanAmerican ... Show more content on

From the 1960s up to today, jazz and hiphop continue to borrow and experiment with each other. They
both contain elements of improvisation. For example, in hiphop, free styling and DJing represent this,
while in jazz much of the exchange between musicians is improvised. Both constantly deal with racial
issues, finding their roots and icons in the AfricanAmerican culture, but ultimately blossomed in
diversity. Jazz emerged out of many different types of music such as slave songs, ragtime, and military
bands. Even though Jazz has evolved throughout its history, it dramatically changed during the 1930 s
and 1940 s when many AfricanAmericans migrated from southern rural communities to the urbanized
northern cities. Since AfricanAmericans were still discriminated against and oppressed by society,
their pain and suffering needed to be channeled through cultural and musical expression. Jazz, like
using improvisation, created a unique genre of music that continued the use of traditional styles of
AfricanAmerican music. Urbanized

The Holocaust, And Art Spiegelman s Night And Maus
The word Holocaust refers to the mass murder of 6 million European Jews by the German Nazi
regime during World War II. It began in 1933 and ended in 1945. The ruler of Germany during this
time was Adolf Hitler. He and the Nazis put the Jew in concentration camps, where thousands were
killed everyday. This was one of the worst if not the worst genocides in history. Many books have
been written to document survivors testimony of this horrific event. Elie Wiesel shares his story and
Art Spiegelman shares his father s story in the books Night and Maus. Comparisons can be drawn
between Maus and Night through the author s purpose for writing , the survivor s experiences, and the
author s perspective.
Elie Wiesel s reason for writing Night was personal, but it was also to keep the world aware of the
damage that was caused. He is a messenger to mankind , the nobel peace committee had said as they
gave him the prize. Elie doesn t want history to repeat itself. The best way to do that is for the world to
know what happened and learn from their mistakes. The personal half of his reason was that Elie
wanted to protect his child. My son changed me. Once you bring a life into this world, you must
protect it by changing the world. These were Elie Wiesel s own words. One of Art Spiegelman s
reasons was almost the same. He was eager to share his father s story with the world. At the beginning
of Maus I, Art describes how he asked his father over and over to tell him his story. This

Polygamy
Is Polygamy Socially Acceptable?
The reality TV show Sister Wives follows the lives of a polygamist family of 22. The husband, Cody
Brown, has 4 wives: Meri, Janelle, Christine, and the latest addition Robyn. The number of
polygamists in North America, estimated at 50,000 or more, is doubling every decade. Polygamy by
definition is a marriage that includes more than two partners. When a man is married to more than one
woman at the same time it is called polygany and when a woman is married to more than one man at
the same time it is called polyandry. Polygamy is not a new practice, in fact it has been going on for
centuries. However, with recent growing publicity from shows like Sister Wives, more and more

However, if a woman agrees to marry into such a family she should be prepared for these feelings.
It has also been said that polygamy undermines the institution of marriage and the idea of devotion
and giving oneself wholly to their spouse. It is not possible for one man to give himself wholly to four
different women which means each wife is really only married to one fourth of a man. The husband is
often accused of being selfish and greedy because he is not satisfied with his family and he feels the
need to go out and find another new woman and more children to add to it.
Polygamy also has many negative effects on the children. Often times the wives will be upset and in a
bad mood because they are missing the husband or are jealous for some reason and the kids suffer
from it. Also it is hard for the children to make friends when they know about there lifestyle. Perhaps
some of the kids don t believe in this lifestyle and don t want to be a part of it, well they don t have a
choice until they are of age.
The practice of polygamy is a very controversial topic and many people disagree with it but all and all
America is a free country and if people choose to live this way than that is their choice and no one
should be able to take that away from them. As long as they are not negatively

Globalization of Korean Popular Culture in Asia
Globalization of Korean Popular Culture in Asia
1. Introduction
Since 1990s, Korean Popular Culture has had a strong influence in Asian countries, including China,
Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore. This new popular cultural phenomenon in Asia is called
the Korean Wave , also known as hallyu in Korean pronunciation, which refers to the surge of
popularity of Korean popular culture abroad, particularly in Asia(Kin 284). The Korean Wave is first
coined in mid 1999 by journalists in Beijing who are surprised by the fast growing popularity of
Korean entertainment and popular Culture in China(Fiaola 1).

This, originally, supposed to be the last work of Samsung Entertainment Group and the group will
break up afterwards. Shiri, surprisingly, got a big hit from Korea and other Asian countries. Although
it costs only about 2% of average budget of Hollywood films, it was popular throughout the world. As
Diffrient mentioned, Shiri led to a pan Asian phenomenon after its releases in Japan, Hong Kong and
Taiwan(42). Later on, films such as Joint Security Area and My Sassy Girl also gave a big hit to Asia,
which further spread Korean popular culture to other Asian countries. As a Hollywood reporter said,
Korea has transformed itself from an embattled cinematic backwater into the hottest film market in
Asia (Segers 14).
Korean TV dramas also floods the daily programming of free to air TV stations and even become part
of the routine viewing habits of their respective audiences(Beng 2). Starting with What Is Love All
About and Stars in My Heart in the late 1990s, and Winter Sonata and Dae Jang Geum in recent years,
Korean television drama and its stars such as Bae Yong Jun and Lee Young Ae, have attracted Asian
audiences. Korean TV dramas were dubbed into Mandarin in Taiwan in 2004 and into Cantonese in
Hong Kong in 2005. It was soon dubbed for broadcasting in China and Japan in 2006. According to
the Television Broadcast Limited(TVB), Dae Jang Geum had broke the rating record of Hong Kong

Defining Firewalls And Vpns. What Is A Firewall And How...
Defining Firewalls and VPNs
What is a firewall and how does it work?
Many internet users are concerned about internet safety. A way to combat potential security breaches
is to use a firewall. A firewall can be a hardware device or a program and it is used to filter any
information that comes through any internet connection to your private network or computer system.
Harmful information can be flagged by the firewall program and not be allowed to continue through.
Firewalls use up to three different ways to control the information coming into and out of the network.
The first method is called packet filtering. Packets are little manageable block of information that are
then scrutinized through a set of filters. The ones that make it past the filters are sent along their way
and anything else is immediately discarded. The next method is called proxy service which allows the
firewall to retrieve requested information and send it to its destination. The last method is called
stateful inspection or stateful filtering , which is more like packet filtering, only it doesn t examine the
whole packet (ISA, 2007). This method only examines certain parts of the individual packets and then
compares it to a database of trusted information. A firewall can also be customized to block certain IP
addresses and domain names and be configured to obey certain protocols. There are many different
types of protocols depending on what it is protecting. For example, File Transfer protocol is

Nothing but net Cruising along in a plane flying at an altitude of 7,600m doesn t sound too bad right?
Now imagine jumping from that plane. Okay, slightly bad. Now you realise you don t have a

skydiver with over 18,000 dives to his name, attempted this exact feat. Luckily for him, he would have
a 30mx30m net to catch him still a miniscule area from a height of 7.6km. If he succeeded, he would
be the first person to jump out of a plane at that height with no parachute or wingsuit. If he didn t...

of factors allowed him to complete the dive safely. The first involved him being able to find the net

colour depending on if he was on track to make it. He also used his limbs to change the aerodynamics
of his body and allow him to manoeuvre in different directions, The total flight time would be around
2 minutes and he would reach top speeds of almost 200km/h. Landing safely As he approached Earth,
Aikins flipped onto his back before hitting the net. At first, it might seem a little silly to not be able to
see where you will be going but there is good reason to this. Jean Potvin, a professor of physics stated
that if he had to have done this, it is possible that he would have broken his spine. Additionally, in this
case, the net would have wrapped around his body when he landed. If he was facing downwards, this
would have caused his legs and arms to bend backwards, which would have tremendously hurt. A net?

  • 2. Preschoolers Rationale Essay Rationale: According to New York State Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core, preschoolers should demonstrate understanding of typically occurring verbs and adjectives in relation with their opposites (e.g. up, down, in, out). Procedures: Opposites were addressed through several storybook readings, direct teaching, matching activity, looking at picture cards, acting out opposites and in spontaneous conversations during free choice and on the playground. Present Status: For both sessions, WL did not want to participate in the activity. During first session, WL only repeated opposites on 2/3 opportunities with modeling. The expectation was decreased to one word, as it was too demanding for him to produce the opposite pair. For the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Long Term Goal: The students will produce regular plural words at word level with 80% accuracy with visual cues provided. Rationale: According to the Shipley and McAfee (1998) and Chart of Normal Development: Infancy to Six Years of Age, children between the ages of 3 years to 4 years should consistently be using regular plurals (e.g. balls, dolls, houses). Procedures: This goal was addressed through storybook readings, direct teaching with pictures and objects, paper and glue activities, looking at singular and plural picture cards, and in spontaneous conversations during free choice and on the playground. Present Status: The first time the goal was targeted, WL did not participate in the activity. WL sat through the second session, with the help of his aide, and achieved 3/3 opportunities with visual cues and modeling. In the first session, TG repeated plurals on 7/11 opportunities and produced plurals on 4/11 opportunities. The second session, TG repeated plurals 2/4 opportunities and produced plurals on 2 opportunities with visual cues. For the first session, JA repeated plurals on 8/10 opportunities and produced plurals on 2/10 opportunities. For the second session, JA repeated plurals on 3/3 opportunities. JA still required modeling from the clinician. Presently, none of the students have met the goal, however, with more sessions the students will achieve the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Role of Serotonin in Schizophrenia Schizophrenia´s Cognitive symptoms include troubles with focusing or paying attention, using information immediately after learning it, understanding information and using it to make decisions (Meltzer, The Role of Serotonin in Schizophrenia, 2000). Many areas of the brain, along with chemicals are affected in a schizophrenic patient. The structure along with the function of the brain would be abnormal in comparison to a healthy functioning brain. The causes of many symptoms contributing to schizophrenia are still unsure of, and are instead hypothesised. Schizophrenic patients are thought to have higher dopamine levels in their brains (overactive dopamine system). Many antipsychotics are designed to block dopamine receptors, and bind them, helping patients to improve and experience less severe symptoms, further proving the dopamine hypothesis. It was also found that drugs that increase dopamine levels (amphetamines) have caused more psychotics symptoms. This could partially result in a few psychotic symptoms occurring in the illness (GROMISCH, 2013). Research shows that there is a correlation between creative and dopamine receptor bindings in the thalamus (PHD, 2012). The thalamus relays and processes information such as visual and auditory information. It was found that both creative minds and schizophrenics minds have lower dopamine receptors, this could result in why schizophrenics have abnormal thought processes and why some normal functioning brains tend to be ... • 4. Essay On Colosseum Module 2: Age of Perfection and Empire (Colosseum Negative) 336! The Colosseum (72AD 80AD) demonstrates that function ( shelter, program, organization, use, occupancy, materials, social purpose ) informs style ( line, outline, shape, composition ) (Figure 1) (Hendrix 2013, 1; John, Sheard and Vickery 2007, 4). Built as a theatre to entertain Roman citizens, the Colosseum s shape, size, tiered seating, arena and rhythmical arches emerges from the functional requirements to stage entertainment, maximise spectatorship, manage crowds and provide structural stability (John, Sheard and Vickery 2007, 1). The cross section of the Colosseum (Figure 2) reveals the translation of function into form: Spectacle: A large central arena provided the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, whilst varying facades and building technology may disguise usage norms , the form of the Colosseum (and modern stadiums) emerges from function (Maguire 2014, 127). Module 3: Heavenly Pursuits (Gothic Affirmative) The intricate carvings, stained glass windows, statues, jewelled ornamentation and elaborate paintwork of the Gothic cathedral augments the architectural form. A theological shift during the 12th century triggered an architectural transition from the dark, heavy Romanesque church to the illuminated, soaring and delicate Gothic cathedral (Figure 8) (Ching, Jarzomebek, and Prakash 2011, 369, 420). Annihilating the mass of the Romanesque, Gothic architecture employed slender columns, vaulted ceilings, pointed arches, flying buttresses and large windows to achieve a light, skeletal structure with soaring heights and a light filled interior (Figure 9) (Nuttgens 1997, 160). The decorative carving further reduces the mass to create a delicate lacework, that coupled with sculptured jambs, piers and archivolts, enhances and disguises the architecture leading Scott (1879, 313) to ...question whether the sculpture of these cathedrals does not excel the architecture (Figure 10). Significantly, the corporeal light filtering through the stained glass (allegorically the divine illumination of God) and the delicate pillars that draw the eye to the soaring vaulted ceiling combine to create a system of ... • 5. Native American Analysis Always historicize! This famous dictum becomes the trigger for anyone who wants to have an investigation by looking at the significance of historical dimension of a text. Such investigation also examines the cultural and social objects in a larger social relation. As history is the key, the investigation further goes to use it in order to restore and reshape our perspectives on a particular text. This is not to say that after finding the connection our analysis is done, but it actually goes beyond that. The assumption that a text reflects what is in the society, is enriched and explored more by using Jameson s critical investigation. Such framework of analysis enables us to see more. Ortiz, a native of Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico, is a poet, fiction writer, essayist, and storyteller. According to Wiget (1996), he is acknowledged as one of the most talented and accomplished writers of the Native American Renaissance of the 1960s and 70s. Further, Wiget adds that Ortiz is also known for his role as a leading figure in the struggle to continue traditional forms and themes of indigenous life. In a similar vein, Zepeda explicates that as a major Native writer, he insists on telling the story of his people s land, culture, and community, a story marred by social, political, economic, and cultural conflicts with the Euro American society (159). • 6. Empathy In The Odysseus Empathy in the odyssey We often think that we are a caring and kind person but when we become tired, stressed, or rushed all empathy we have can seem to vanish. We start to put our own needs first and others second. But what if we weren t always like this? The odyssey is a perfect example of what happens when we don t have empathy for others. In book 9 Odysseus and Polyphemus fail to understand each other leading to some unfortunate results. Polyphemus shows almost no empathy in his interaction with Odysseus but he shows even less, showing that without empathy pain is inevitable. Odysseus first displays a great lack of empathy for the cyclops when comparing how different his lifestyle is to Polyphemus . For example when describing how the Polyphemus lives he says in disgust, He was quite unlike any man who eats bread, more like some wooded peak in the high hills, standing out alone apart from the others. (9.190 192) It is apparent from this quote that Odysseus does not respect those who work on their own. He thinks that Polyphemus is uncivilized and a lesser being just because his lifestyle is different from that of Odysseus . In addition Odysseus distances himself from the cyclops by comparing their size, describing the cyclops as, so huge he cannot possibly be man . Rather than trying to find similarities between himself and the cyclops he obsesses on their differences. Based on the fact that Odysseus clearly does not even try to understand what the cyclops life is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Explain The Properties Of Water Cohesion Water has five main properties. It s first is its attraction to other polar molecules. Because of its cohesion to other water molecules, it is a major property. Cohesive forces are responsible for surface tension. This causes water to form spherical droplets; this also allows it to support small objects if they have been placed carefully on the surface. Due to the hydrogen bonds in the water, this allows the water molecules to hold together. As they are exposed to air on one side, there will be neighbouring water molecules to bond with, this forms stronger bonds with the existing neighbours. As a result of the cohesion, the surface tension allows insects such as Water Striders to walk on the surface of water. As opposed to is adhesion. Adhesion is the water s attraction between molecules of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The high specific heat (hsh) is the amount of energy that is absorbed. As a result, water molecules form many hydrogen bonds. A great amount of heat is needed to increase the temperature of liquid water as the heat is also needed to break hydrogen bonds between molecules. The (hshc) is defined as the amount of heat needed to increase the temperature of one gram of a substance to one degree Celsius, this is called a calorie. By breaking the bonds, water molecules can move freely, which creates more friction and additional heat that allows a higher temperature. The hydrogen bonds absorb the heat as they break, and also release heat as they form, this minimizes temperature change. Water also helps maintain a moderate temperature for organisms and environments e.g warm blooded animals distribute heat through their bodies. Due to its high specific heat capacity, water minimizes changes in temperature. Waters (hshc) is five times greater than sand, as the land cools more quickly than the sea as the sun sets, the slow cooling water then releases heat to nearby land amid the ... • 8. Women Should Not Have the Option of Artificial Fertilization I don t believe that women should have the option of artificial fertilization because the women can have emotionally harmful side effects. According to a study released by the Baird commission in April about 2,900 women were enrolled in IVF programs n Canada in 1991 resulting in 189 births, while 3,400 used artificial insemination in fertility clinics, leading to 360 births. (Nichols 2) The fact that the success rate is that low is sad a woman could try and try to get pregnant and go through so many treatments hoping at the same time that eventually they could have a child but fail most of the time. All 32 mature oocytes were injected. Seven zygotes showed normal fertilization (22%) and one zygote showed pronuclear fertilization and 24 oocytes (75%) did not show any sign of fertilization. Most of the embryos had poor morphology before the embryo transfer, but there was at least one embryo available for transfer in each cycle....The forst for IVF cycles did ot result in a pregnancy. In the fifth IVF circle two oocytes were fertilized normally and one oocyte showed one pronuclear fertilization. (Francsovits, etat 2) This piece of evidence is very demoralizing for a woman that is reaching out to their last option to have a child of her own. The second reason I thoroughly disagree to the option of artificial fertilization is because it causes physically harmful problems for the woman going through this treatment. When blood and urine

  • 10. French New Wave Film Techniques Breathless is a 1960 French New Wave film, written and directed by Jean Luc Godard, about a wandering criminal and his girlfriend. The film premiered in France, attracting two million viewers and winning both the Prix Jean Vigo and the Berlin International Film Festival Award for Best Director in 1960. Godard s interesting use of numerous jump cuts in the story as well as documentary style cinematography is what makes Breathless so iconic and recognized as one of the earliest and most influential examples of the French New Wave genre. One of the main components of the film is its use of jump cuts. In Godard s work, every scene with slow intervals was edited or removed, creating multiple jump cuts that represented the passage of time. This feature was a common method used in the French New Wave genre of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main character breaks the forth wall, a method that dismisses the common film making practice of the time, mirroring the rebellious nature once again. The French New Wave genre strived to go against the aspects of Hollywood professionalism of other films, and Godard does so in many of his works. In Breathless, as the camera focuses on the main character, he looks right back and speaks to the audience. This technique allows the story to progress through as the main character narrates. Apart from jump cutting, Godard uses documentary style cinematography to differ from the sporadic effects of his editing. The film s cinematography is captured in a hand held like manner, creating a sense of realism. Godard used continuous shots for many of his dialogue scenes, following the main character in his more slow paced, quiet moments, drawing out the mood. Breathless captures the New Wave genre in these methods of breaking Hollywood s typical rules in film making and its use of documentary style ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Impact Of Age On Participants Perceptions Of The... Due to the global proliferation of social media, Facebook and other social networking sites (SNS), researchers have taken an interest in studying the nature of how people utilise SNS especially with regard to age disparities. However, there is a lack of qualitative research that investigates participants values and perceptions of SNS (Pfeil, Arjan and Zaphiris 2009). The purpose of this research is to explore this question by investigating the influence of age on participants perceptions of the SNS, Facebook. Facebook was selected for this study due its popularity, as identified by Tong et al. (2008) as having a membership population of approximately eighteen million. The following literature review assisted us to narrow our focus for our own research objective. The three main points discussed here are, differences in the utilisation of SNS and perceived well being outcomes achieved through the use of Facebook between older and younger users of the site; factors that influence levels of technology usage such as, well being, socio economic status, psychosocial circumstances and age; and differences between age groups in perceptions of SNS and levels of social capital gained from SNS. Hayes, van Stolk Cooke and Muench (2015) suggest that age is a significant factor in exploring differences in how Facebook is used. This study looked at how participants utilise Facebook and participants perceived well being outcomes. Data were collected via an anonymous survey that asked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the introduction of the new switching this made it to where the computer did not require specific hardware to be able to use VoIP. • 32. Defining Firewalls And Vpns. What Is A Firewall And How... Defining Firewalls and VPNs What is a firewall and how does it work? Many internet users are concerned about internet safety. A way to combat potential security breaches is to use a firewall. A firewall can be a hardware device or a program and it is used to filter any information that comes through any internet connection to your private network or computer system. Harmful information can be flagged by the firewall program and not be allowed to continue through. Firewalls use up to three different ways to control the information coming into and out of the network. The first method is called packet filtering. Packets are little manageable block of information that are then scrutinized through a set of filters. The ones that make it past the filters are sent along their way and anything else is immediately discarded. The next method is called proxy service which allows the firewall to retrieve requested information and send it to its destination. The last method is called stateful inspection or stateful filtering , which is more like packet filtering, only it doesn t examine the whole packet (ISA, 2007). This method only examines certain parts of the individual packets and then compares it to a database of trusted information. A firewall can also be customized to block certain IP addresses and domain names and be configured to obey certain protocols. There are many different types of protocols depending on what it is protecting. For example, File Transfer protocol is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. He s A Flight Persuasive Speech Nothing but net Cruising along in a plane flying at an altitude of 7,600m doesn t sound too bad right? Now imagine jumping from that plane. Okay, slightly bad. Now you realise you don t have a parachute. VERY bad. That s exactly what happened earlier this month. Luke Aikins, an American skydiver with over 18,000 dives to his name, attempted this exact feat. Luckily for him, he would have a 30mx30m net to catch him still a miniscule area from a height of 7.6km. If he succeeded, he would be the first person to jump out of a plane at that height with no parachute or wingsuit. If he didn t... well... we all know what would happen then. He was so high that when he first jumped from the plane, he required an oxygen mask just to breathe. The whole stunt would also be telecast with a 2 minute delay, just in case. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fortunately, yes. VIDEO It s A Bird... It s A Plane... No, its just a human The combination of a number of factors allowed him to complete the dive safely. The first involved him being able to find the net from such a great height. His helmet contained a GPS tracker with bright lights on the net changing colour depending on if he was on track to make it. He also used his limbs to change the aerodynamics of his body and allow him to manoeuvre in different directions, The total flight time would be around 2 minutes and he would reach top speeds of almost 200km/h. Landing safely As he approached Earth, Aikins flipped onto his back before hitting the net. At first, it might seem a little silly to not be able to see where you will be going but there is good reason to this. Jean Potvin, a professor of physics stated that if he had to have done this, it is possible that he would have broken his spine. Additionally, in this case, the net would have wrapped around his body when he landed. If he was facing downwards, this would have caused his legs and arms to bend backwards, which would have tremendously hurt. A net? At such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
