Character Development in Edward Abbey s The Monkey Wrench...
Character Development in Edward Abbey s The Monkey Wrench Gang
Search and Rescue, Utah State Police, and Bishops of the Church of Latter Day Saints chase a group
of bridge destroying, billboard burning, bulldozer mutilating eco terrorists through the desert of the
Southwest. The group known as the Monkey Wrench Gang consists of four very different characters:
Seldom Seen Smith, also known as Joseph Smith, George Washington Hayduke, Doctor A. K. Sarvis,
and Bonnie Abbzug. Each character has his own opinion of why nature needs to be saved. The group
decides to make their mark on nature by taking care of the different machines, roads and bridges that
are destroying it. With all the destruction the gang is causing, being caught is ... Show more content on

Let?s Save Some of It (14) plastered on the back bumper.
George Washington Hayduke, Vietnam veteran from Tucson, Arizona, has a distaste for the way the
Southwest is becoming industrialized. He found it, no longer what he remembered, no longer the clear
and classical desert. . . . Someone or something was changing things (15). That ultimate world . . . of
meat, blood, fire, water, rock, wood, sun, wind, sky, night, cold, dawn, warmth, life. Those short and
irreducible words which stand for almost everything he thinks he has lost (355). In Hayduke?s
opinion, This is my country. Mine and Seldom?s and Doc?s yeah, hers too (336) and anyone who
would want to mess with it is in trouble.
Seldom Seen Smith, a Mormon and husband to three women all from Utah, guides river trips down
Lee?s Ferry for a living. Smith, like Hayduke, remembers the Southwest to be something different. He
recalls, the golden river flowing to the sea. . . . He remembers the canyons. . . and the amphitheaters
(31). What he doesn?t remember is all these things lay[ing] beneath the dead water of the reservoir
(31). A true autochthonic patriot, Smith swears allegiance only to the land he knows (358). All the
members of the gang agree with Smith and feel that they want a counter industrial revolution (211).
Edward Abbey uses various types of slang to get each character?s opinions across to the reader. For
example, when Hayduke asks if Doc thinks he is a

Officer Discretion
The topic of this week had a few questions concerning officer discretion and the amount that officer
could exhibit in the course of their job. Where does the line between officer discretion and obligation
does began and end? The answer is about as clear as mud and varies depending on the interaction.
After reading a post from a fellow classmate I was informed that he had the discretion to asses a
warning citation in light of a teenager observed to by the officer breaking many traffic laws. He had
the ability issue a warning in the event the teenager informed his father of the incident and his father
gave the officer a call to verify. This was in total contrast to the traffic stop that occurred a few months
prior that I witnessed. My girlfriend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The act could by some be that the officer chose a utilitarian stance. The officer at the time was
engaged in removing the angry protestor from the event to allow the event to continue. That was in
fact a part of his duties to maintain order consider the safety of the candidate as it was his event. The
officer may have felt that to engage the individual that threw the elbow would have allowed the
protestor to escape and possibly cause harm to himself or the individual guilty of the assault. Or
perhaps the officer simply felt that the situation best be handled at a later date. All or none of these
considerations could have passed through the officer s mind because he certainly was aware of the
multiple television cameras as well as the cell phone cameras that were in and around the event. I don
t know whether the officer made a good decision I do know there was no riot and not addition harm to
either individual and there was an arrest made after the event and the guy admitting the assault on
camera as well as hinting the possibility for murder. The answer of leeway in the day to day
enforcement law still is not well defined. From the conflicting statements of two experienced
patrolmen to a broadcast on national television of what could be considered turning a blind eye the
jury is still out. There are very few

Edward Albee Essay
Edward Albee, a famous American Playwright, was born on March 12, 1928 and grew up in
Westchester County, New York. Albee grew up with his adoptive parents and left home at the age of
18, due to conflicts with his adoptive parents and a suffocating environment. Although, his adopted
family was very wealthy and owned multiple theatres, he felt very distanced. However, because he
was his family owned theatres, he was exposed to that realm and idea, which he later found a passion
with. Albee s love as a playwright was not supported by his family, as they wanted a son to have a
more respectable job, like a doctor or lawyer. As a student, Albee was known to be expelled or kicked
out by many of his schools. He had a passion to write plays and began experimenting with different
styles, while befriending other writers, sculptors and painters.
Albee was an exceptional writer and wrote many poems, but was able to find his break or voice when
he began writing plays. He was known for his dramas and many one act plays. His first breakout and
major play was Zoo Story and was written in only 3 weeks. Zoo Story is a one act play and its theme

Alley Theatre. He was able to take charge of UH s theatre program from 1989 2003 and returned to

Personally for me, I feel like I would enjoy his plays. He is known to evoke a lot of raw and real
emotion from the actors and his audience, which interests me. I already tend to like watching dramas
and on top of that, Albee has very many short one act plays, that wouldn t take that much time away
from me. He also has won 3 pulitzer Awards and is known for being one of the greatest modern
playwrights of all time, so I think I would very much enjoy his

Analysis Of Dennett s Qualia
memory has changed when comparing the two. Since qualia cannot be used to verify claims about
qualia, they are content less and incoherent or so Dennett s tale goes.
IV. Dennett contra Qualia Dennett is a man upset. A man upset about qualia he seems appalled that
something could exist which cannot be tested or used in some way to verify something. In fact,
Dennett seems so upset about qualia he created his own idea of it, and argued against that instead of a
more charitably (or correctly) understood definition. How, then, to prove the qualia Dennett uses is a
strawman? Let s start by discussing his two examples first, with pump 5/6 on neurosurgery. Recall that
Dennett believes the neurosurgeon showed that our qualia are less than private and immediately
apprehensible. The neurosurgeon knew our qualia better we could not tell what was changed between
our memory of past qualia and our current qualia. Dennett thinks pump 5/6 does particularly well in
undermining the apprehensibility of qualia after all, the qualia itself seems useless is telling us just
what has happened during the surgery. Except, qualia never could. The neurosurgeon, if he or she
changed our memory, would still change our qualia our qualia of the memory. Dennett didn t seem to
understand the scope of qualia here or that we produce it automatically from intending our
consciousness toward anything at all, including memory. We have qualia of remembering, qualia of
past states, real qualia

Autobiography Of My American Dream
AMERICAN DREAM
Vu Nguyen
It has been forty five days since I landed off in Chicago International Airport, become an official
international student in the United States of America. Jonesboro is a quiet city in Arkansas, but A State
Home of the Red Wolves is not. I feel so proud to be a Red Wolf at this moment but I still remember
the days that I was fighting and working with two hundred percent effort to realize my American
dream. Those were a bunch of struggling, tiring but happy days during a long period until April of this
fabulous year 2017.

would get a full scholarship to study in the US as an exchange student for one year. My aspiration had
been again raising up until the day I received the result. I was the student who got the highest score
among over 400 contestants, it was such a most surprising news ever to me. However, it was also the
worst day ever in my entire life. I came home with a sense of excitement and smiles appearing on my
face during the way home. That was not an ending of a day as happy as the Korean romantic dramas, I

Why Do Chemical Weapons Be Banned
The world has been bombarded by stories of how governments keep secret weapons, secret

about chemical weapons til a few weeks ago. Chemical weapons are one of the most dangerous threats
that not just soldiers but everyone face today, But the publicity they get is so minimal it s scary. But
just how much people know about them? Chemical weapons are an issue because chemical weapons
can cause so much harm that they should be banned. They are weapons of mass destruction. Look at

The Effects Of Wi Fi On The Library
Background Every day, students spend a lot of time and energy in searching for a seat at their
university library. Not only do they have to take the time to walk over to the library from their dorm
rooms only to find out that all the seats are full, but they must also traverse the floors awkwardly
looking for a seat. It would be much helpful if the students were able to find out the number and
location of available seats, without even leaving their dorm room. To solve this problem, our group
has come up with a system which can count the number of people on the each floor of a library. To
eliminate some of the expenses and make the system more compatible with an already constructed
library, the system we would develop would have to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The IT facilitates firm to customer, firm to firm, and customer to firm communications online and on
mobile devices. Hence, this trend enables application developers to tailor services to fit the needs of
each consumer [1].As an application developer aims to satisfy a specific need of the target consumers,
the service quality and the satisfaction of the consumers increase. A service provider shall adapt its
product over time by modifying and improving the service it provides, based on the consumers
behaviour and response. A service provider must constantly analyse and derive tests for errors and
generalizability while modelling the service as suggested by Figure 1 below[1]. The advances in
mobile data technology now allow consumers to access information ubiquitously, providing the
companies in the service sector with new marketing opportunities. Newer marketing technologies
must be modelled and implemented to adapt to this environment [2]. The authors objective is to
examine how user mobile Internet usage relates to certain unique characteristics of the mobile Internet
space. As opposed to the limitations on geographical mobility and access faced by PCs, mobile
devices can access data wirelessly almost anytime and anywhere. The South Korean 3G mobile

Digging Seamus Heaney Essay
One of the first functions of a poem, after all, is to satisfy a need in the poet
(Seamus Heaney)
In his essay Poetry, Language and Identity: A Note on Seamus Heaney, Kearney writes that Heaney
has been criticised for refusing to adopt a fixed unambiguous position, for not nailing his colours to
the mast, particularly about the national question (i.e. his attitude to his native North) . Although not
disputed, Heaney s poetry maintains an objectivity that neither condemns nor accepts the turbulent
past of his native Northern Ireland. He is an observer of the separation of ideals, religion, and national
identity that occurred throughout his life.
In this essay, elements discussed will be Heaney s identity as a Catholic republican growing ... Show

Perhaps the only incident to demonstrate Heaney s patriotism was his response to the editors of The
Penguin Book of Contemporary British Poetry in 1983. In Open Letter, Heaney rhymed Be advised,
my passport s green/ No glass of ours was ever raised/ to toast the Queen . His reaction to being
included as a British poet, gave him the opportunity to acknowledge proudly his Irish heritage, yet he
made light of the situation by incorporating a rhyme of green and Queen . All Heaney ever wanted
was to be socially responsible and creatively free (Redress of Poetry, p193). He was able to achieve
this in later life, and it manifested itself in the poem, Exposure from North (1975). The move south to
Wicklow was a personal decision, yet Heaney worried if he could produce material as illustrious as
when living in the heart of his homeland. He was no longer a representative of the North, writing I am
neither internee nor informer/ An inner émigré, grown longhaired/ And thoughtful (32 34). It is a self
reflective poem, almost part of a life cycle of his work. In Digging , he contemplated what type of
poet he could be, and in Exposure , he reflects on his past life and work, and how he can realign his

Big Fish And Atonement Comparative Essay
The two movies Atonement and Big Fish are very similar although at first, the average viewer would
not normally acknowledge it. The two movies seem very different, from the calm narration of the
historical fiction movie Atonement and the wild extreme imagery that the narrators from Big Fish, a
fantasy drama film, expelled to the audience. Yet the narrators from these two movies are the aspects
that make these films similar. The film Atonement at first seemed like it had four different narrators,
Briony Tallis as a child, Briony Tallis as a young adult, Cecilia Tallis and Robbie. Brioney as a child
,who narrates most of the beginning of the movie, seemed like an unreliable narrator once the same

The major point in the story where a viewer can infer than Briony is an unreliable narrator was during
Briony s brother s welcome home dinner party. In this particular part in the film Briony s two twin
cousins, who came to stay with the Tallis family since their parents were getting divorced, ran away
and all the guests at the dinner party went searching for Briony s two cousins in the dark. When
Briony was searching for her cousins she flashed her flashlight towards the ground and saw the two
twin boys older sister that was staying with them, Lola, being raped by a man. Briony tells Lola she
saw the man s face who raped her and told her family that the man who raped Lola was Robbie.
Briony essentially ruins Robbie s life because of this rape allegation he gets sent to prison and enlists
in the army to become free, but ultimately dies from an infection. Where towards the end of the

Racism At The University Of Memphis
Racism at the University of Memphis
College Universities such as the University of Memphis proud itself for its diversity and inclusiveness.
Everyone from the teaching staff to the janitors is equally treated right. There is no racism or
discrimination here at the University of Memphis. This belief that the U of M does not have racism/
discrimination and everyone is equal is an inaccurate statement believed by those who do not
experience it. Actually racism and discrimination is very present at the university.
I have experienced racism and discrimination at the University of Memphis first hand on multiple
occasions. I attended a black Greek step show Friday, April 1 2016 in front of the fountain. The
campus police surrounded the entire event. Usually after step shows the music will continue the play
and the crowd joins in dancing. The campus police instantly shut the event down. Why it is when a
white organization has any kind of event on campus, such as a Frisbee tournament or fundraiser there
is no campus police breathing down their neck? The black events have to be secured. The university
must suspect black events to be rowdy and need police security while white events are safe and can
continue peacefully. One time I was pulled over by campus police after grocery shopping. The bags
were all over the car even in the back window. The first thing the officer said when I rolled my
window down was Do I smell weed? I don t even take part in things of that nature. There was

My First Love Essay
Everyone loves to tell the story of their first love, and the beautiful lesson they learned through the
adventure. You hear the phrase, you ll never forget your first as you see a small smirk flourish across
the faces of people who remember their story. Through all the experiences shared, I never would have
believed the result of falling out of love. All of the novels and sweet smiles never hinted about the
time I would end up crumbled down on my bedroom s floor, with two years of a person s presence
surrounding a broken heart. Nobody will speak of watching your first love leave for college, knowing
that they will want to move on. I went through the stages of heartbreak that left me with a cracked and
bruised heart. The recovery and journey of finding acceptance and love for myself, created a book of
my personal lessons. Going back to that summer is like reading the final book of your favorite series,
you soak in the words trying to read slow, savoring. Completing the series leaves a bitter sweet
moment, comparing to the emotions that overcame my mind through the process of watching him go.
However, it was not beautiful and bittersweet as romance novels paint your first love out to be. Each
page in our novel transformed from love to a war zone, as loyalty became nonexistent, and trust only
present in waves. The summer was beautiful, but in my heart I knew that this novel was only a fairy
tale coming to it s end. There was nothing left to be painted. That hot and humid

When Wallace writes ...the air suffused with honeysuckle and lilacs both, which was almost too much
(1) readers can literally almost catch a whiff of the honeysuckle and lilacs in the air. Wallace s precise
and purposeful style of language allows us to get a true feeling for Lane, our protagonist, and the
terror, desperation and nervousness he feels in making a horribly difficult decision. He hated himself
for sitting so frozen. He could almost visualize himself tiptoeing past something explosive. A big
stupid looking tiptoe, like in a cartoon. The whole last black week had been this way and it was wrong
(1) portrays the sheer terror and desperation that Lane is feeling. Wallace tells this story from a limited
omniscience point of view, only allowing us into Lane s head. This point of view complements Lane s
character as well as the tone of this story as it helps to set the frightened and worried mood of the story
as it permits us, as readers, to experience the inner conflict and desperation that Lane is feeling. The
setting, in my opinion, has hints of foreshadowing that work nicely with Lane s inner conflict. When
Wallace writes [t]hey were up on a picnic table at that park by the lake, by the edge of the lake... (1)
the word edge prompts a feeling that the story is on the verge of change. When Wallace writes of
springtime and storms , it provokes a feeling of newness and change. In my opinion, all of the literary

Comparing My Papa s Waltz And Daddy
In Theodore Roethke s My Papa s Waltz and Sylvia Plath s Daddy , both poets (deleted material)
express a subject, which is their relationship with their father s. In the poem My Papa s Waltz the poet
expresses his relationship with his father through waltzing which is a very formal dance. Although
waltzing is supposed to be a popular ballroom type of dance in which the dancers revolve in perpetual
circles, taking one step to each beat, imagery is (deleted material) used in this poem to express how
the poet was manhandled while waltzing with his father because his father had too much to drink. On
the other hand, in the poem Daddy the poet uses metaphors to describe her father. Plath lets out all of

In the third stanza of the poem, Roethke points out to the readers that his father was continuously
missing steps while they were waltzing. At every step you missed / my right ear scraped a buckle. (11

resulted in the poet being physically hurt. This part of the poem reveals that the father is now
becoming abusive. Roethke s use of the word death in the first stanza, right away implies that the poet
was frightened by his father. In the second stanza the poet uses the word romp which is associated
with playing roughly. This also indicates that it was not very safe for the poet to be waltzing with his
father. The mother frowning also demonstrates that she does not approve of this activity. The last
stanza of the poem reaffirms that there was violence present. Roethke states You beat time on my head
/ With a palm caked hard by dirt. (13 14) . The father s hand caked hard by dirt demonstrates that the
father was a hard labor worker but the use of the word beat makes this line

13th Amendment Pros And Cons
James Madison, primary author of the Bill or Rights and a Representative, introduced 20 amendments
on June 8, 1789. The House of Representatives passed 17 amendments, and then they were sent to the
Senate for approval. The Senate in turn altered the 17 amendments into 12 articles. During the 1789
Joint Resolution of Congress, Congress agreed on the 12 amendments. It was then necessary that three
fourths of the states formulated their approval. At that moment, the tenth amendment was previously
numbered as the twelfth article. However, since two of the articles were not ratified, the remaining
articles were then renumbered and thus, the Tenth Amendment was born on December 15, 1791 with
its inclusion in the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights was added to gain much of the anti federalists
support and confidence after the downfall of the Articles of Confederation. In order to avoid this
problem in the future the Framers included the Necessary and Proper Clause in Article One of the
Constitution. This gave Congress the power to make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for

It began its existence with a wide array of supported. Not even the Anti Federalists were against its
approval. It was actually their persistence in decentralizing the power of the federal government so
that the states would have more power that drove the Founders to stipulate this amendment. The
nation as a whole held no one who opposed it. They actually saw it as a way to deter the existence of
the problems the country had had to face under British rule, as well as the problems that occurred
under the Articles of Confederation. The only modification that the Tenth Amendment concurred
during its proposal was its numeration, as it used to be the 12th article when Congress proposed it to
the state legislature. However, since two were not ratified, it then became the Tenth

San Isidro Elementary School Computerized Grading System...
Chapter 1
Introduction
Researches in learning assessment, especially in terms of academic performance, have long criticized
traditional rating schemes that provide feedback to students. Because learning is multi faceted, most
critiques of such formats tend to see these as superficial and inadequate arguing that they tend to cover
only the areas in learning that are widely rated, leaving other areas in learning under assessed. As a
result, different systems were proposed and varying rating structures were employed by different
schools in the country such as point system averaging and weighted averaging. This school year, the
Department of Education (DepEd) will be using a new grading system in public elementary and high
schools in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The framework also covers the identification of common problems encountered by the school
regarding the existing systems that process their data.
1.1.3. Parts of the Conceptual Framework
a. System Specifications. Includes identifying existing problems regarding the data processing and
generation of the grades of the school. This produces functionality that the proposed system should
provide, which describes functions the system should perform, the logic that processes the data, what
data is stored and used by the system, and how user environment should work. This should result to a
program that the school desires and how this program will work and be implemented.
b. Data Gathering. This involves getting relevant and related data from the school that will undergo

My Strong Latino Accent Is Important For Our Unique...
It was one said by Napoleon Hill that, Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and
struggle. Truly, haven I not experience the many challenges that the year of 2015 had for me, I would
probably not have been allowed do growth in areas that I least expected. One particularly challenge
that arose in 2015, has been the most emotionally wounded, and yet difficult to embraced; and
truthfully I have continuously been in effort to overcome. My strong Hispanic accent is something that
I inevitably could not erase however, the various comments that come with my way of verbally
expressing has often made me feel insignificant, and incompetent at times. Conversely, with the help
of one of my professor at Biola University, I have come to learned that ascents should not diminish
our unique capabilities that we have within ourselves. Moreover, I have gained an aspect of being
open minded, and surrounded myself in activities that involved expressing verbally. Truthfully, this
particularly challenge made me fruitful personally and professionally. Personally, I have been able to
seek areas of improvement and have taken the harsh remarks as a source of motivation to strive to
become both a better person and a better scholar. As to the professional aspect, I have learned that
often in the professional world individuals may not be of accordance with a certain idea or, they might
even seek to discourage ones ideas, but one should not see their comments as a discouragement,

Example Of Gueridon Service
Gueridon Service: This is a service where a dish comes partially prepared from the kitchen to be
completed in the restaurant by the waiter or, when a complete meal is cooked at the table side in the
restaurant. The cooking is done on a gueridon trolley which is a mobile trolley with a gas cylinder and
burners. The waiter plays a prominent part, as he is required to fillet, carve, flambé and prepare the
food with showmanship. The waiter has to have considerable dexterity and skill. English Service:
Often referred to as the Host Service because the host plays an active role in the service. Food is
brought on platters by the waiter and is shown to the host for approval. The waiter then places the
platters on the tables. The host either portions the food into the guest plates directly or portions the
food and allows the waiter to serve. For replenishment of guest food the waiter may then take the

My Journey Of My Career Development
Miranda Kilmer Integration Paper My journey to my career development has been a roller coaster ride
to say the least. Everything I ve learned in this class and throughout the years has shaped me into who
I am and has played a major role in my career decision making process. Ever since I was little I was
always interested in acting and had dreamed of being in movies. Many kids probably had a similar
dream, but for some reason I had a strong desire to follow through with it. Whenever I watched a
movie I would always catch myself saying the lines along with the characters, and changing my voice
to fit each role. No one ever really knew that this was something I was interested in because I never
admitted to it. I never told anybody because every time I would bring it up, everyone seemed to have
the same opinion about it. They say that being an actor is not a reliable career and that being
successful in that industry is a long shot. As I got older I started to agree with them. I pushed aside my
dream of becoming an actress and decided to focus on more reliable career choices like lawyers,
teachers, doctors, etc... When I tried to find interest in these jobs, it always failed. They just didn t fit
my personality and after taking this class I learned why. This class has really helped me develop a
sense of myself. I learned a lot about myself with the help of the self assessment inventories, journal

Kant s Ethical Theory Of Ethics
According to MacKinnon Fiala (2015), Kant s ethical theory is a deontological theory. A deontology
theory is based on duties, obligations, and rights (p. 111). The focus of this essay is how Kant uses the
Categorical Imperative to explain the nature of ethics.
Immanuel Kant s basic moral principle the Categorical Imperative states, I should never act except in
such a way that I can also will that my maxim should become a universal law (Giambusso, 2016, para.
2). His theory does not focus on the consequences of actions as the consequences have no part in
deontological ethics, but the imperative that a person must do what is morally right without exception.
One can use the Categorical Imperative as a formula to test if an action is morally right or wrong, and
if done correctly the result will be the same for everyone. So, no one has to tell you what is right or
wrong because when you use the formula correctly you can see for yourself what the correct ethical
action is no matter the situation. Kant s example to explain the idea is lying to get out of a problematic
situation. If one can substitute a certain situation for a rule of action (the maxim), and then can make
this rule of action the universal rule, the rule for everyone to follow and the rule does not lead to a
contradiction, then and only then is the action morally right. For example: The situation: If I lie, I can
get out of this problematic situation. The maxim (the rule of action): It is okay to lie to get

Le Morte Darthur, Gandalf And Merlin
In a 1967 essay, J. R. R. Tolkien said he saw Gandalf as an angelic being, given the form of an old
man to limit his powers on earth. He would never say the same of Merlin. While Tolkien drew much
inspiration from Arthurian legend, especially Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte Darthur, Gandalf and
Merlin are very different characters. Merlin is a man, one whose role in much of Arthurian legend is as
a loyal servant of the Kings of Camelot, willing to do anything to help them. He also rarely performs
serious acts of magic. Gandalf, on the other hand, is a warrior mage, an immortal being sent to protect
the people of Middle Earth. He displays a powerful use of magic as well, and unlike Merlin, rallies the
people of Middle Earth to his cause and gives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Uther, whom Merlin serves, falls in love with Igraine, the wife of a neighboring duke, but the
duke refuses to allow Uther to have her, and Igraine is too loyal a woman to willingly commit

like the duke her husband, Ulfias will be like Sir Brastias . . . and I will be like Sir Jordanus (Le
Morte, 5). Merlin had disguised the men so well that they took on the appearance of other people,
enough that Igraine believed Uthor was her husband. Merlin s greatest feats usually involve
shapeshifting and disguise, as well as perhaps prophecy. After Merlin comes to Arthur in the guise of a
child, and then an old man, to tell him about his parentage, he says, But I ever ought to be heavy, for I
shall die a shameful death, to be put in the earth quick, and ye shall die a worshipful death (Le Morte,
23). This foreshadows Merlin s death at the hands of his protégé Nineve, and Arthur s death at the end
of the book, and illustrates that Merlin has some knowledge of the events in the future. He
demonstrates this once again after subduing Sir Pellinore, when he tells Arthur, And he shall tell you
the name of your own son begotten of your sister that shall be the destruction of all this realm (Le
Morte, 29). Through his powers of foresight, Merlin can pinpoint what will bring about the end of
Camelot. Gandalf, although immortal and powerful, rarely shows these powers of foresight. The
future in Lord of the Rings is something that cannot be known, only fought

How does theory transmit its processed outputs?
Five key system properties of Open system theory:
Input: Input resources are taken or received from the external environment.
Transformation: The process of conversion or transformation of resources within a system.
Outputs: The work of the system, exported back into the environment.
Boundaries: The distinction between system and the environment.
Feedback: A continuing source of information concerning the relationship with the external
environment used to make the necessary change in order to survive and to grow.
Equifinality: Relative causes and effects between initial and final state of a system.
Alignment: Overall effectiveness of a system is determined based on the effectiveness of different
subsystems aligned with in it.

Corporate Branding And Consumer Opinion
Corporate branding and consumer opinion Corporations need to sell their product if they want to
survive in the business industry. Consumers are aware of what they desire, dislike, and for the most
part make their choices accordingly. For those that cannot decide as easily, there are many choices of
different brands of the same product sold by different companies. When a corporation puts their label
or name on the product, it is called branding (Klein 778). That is the way of consumerism and a way
to make a product more tantalizing, is to think of extraordinary marketing concepts. This essay will
discuss corporate brands and the effect on consumers, then, the paper will examine the concept of
Neuromarketing. Corporations are not forcing anyone to use their product, but they are trying to

Honor Definition Essay
The definition of honor is high respect; esteem. My view of honor is someone that has sacrificed
something, someone that has done something for someone and expects nothing in return. Someone
who has or is changing the way we live for the better. The scientist I chose is Ernest Rutherford. Most

Also while he was there, he was invited by Professor J.J Thomason to study the conductivity of gases,
resulting in a paper about dividing atoms and molecules into ions. This lead Rutherford on to taking a
closer look at ion producing radiations and he discovered that putting uranium near foil will result in
one type of radiation being easily soaked up or blocked, while another type had no problem
penetrating the same foil. Then, he labeled the two radiation types alpha and beta. He then found out
that the alpha particle was the same as the nucleus of the helium atom, and the beta was the same as an
electron or composition. He took a professorship at McGill University of Montreal and left Cambridge
in 1902. In 1903, he and Fredrick Soddy introduced their disintegration theory of radioactivity, and it
claimed that radioactive energy was emitted from within an atom and that when alpha and beta
particles were emitted at the same time they caused a chemical change across elements. Rutherford
and Bertam Borden Boltwood, continued to categorize radioactive elements into what they called a
decay series. Rutherford was honored with discovering the radioactive gas radon while at McGill. He

How Culture Influence Geography
Geography influences culture in many ways. A civilizations geography determines what kind of god(s)
they believe in as well as influences from other cultures. These features provide a stepping stone for
cultures that are solely based on geography.
For instance in Source C the map depicts the archipelago that is Japan. This displays how Japan relies
on nature to grow crops and other substantial food choices. The map shows why the Japanese culture
wants to preserve nature. Another representation of this is shown in Source B. The Egyptians relied
solely on the Nile for water and plant growth. This is why they devoted their god s to water and
nature. This idea is solely based on the geography of Egypt.

Overachievers Personality
In today s society the world s population is widely diverse in the types of personalities that can be
found out in public. Walking down the streets faces pass by, and it s easy for one to guess what kind of
person they are just by looking at their looks. However, someone can have a completely different
personality than you think. It may be important to know what types of personalities one person may
have so you can get to know what type of people you will be dealing with. You may have to deal with
people who tend to be overachievers, arrogant, bubbly, and laid back, but it is better to know how to
identify each personality type. Some people have a personality trait of being an overachiever. There
are many different types of overachievers, some are easy to handle and others may be a challenge.
Someone may feel the need to do better than everyone else and someone else may be trying to achieve
the most they possibly can just to please themselves. The types of overachievers that are just trying to
be better than everyone else may not have as many friends, because most people don t like to feel like
they always have to compete. They might try to strike up a conversation and ask you questions about
yourself, so they have a chance to talk about themselves. According to Arkin, people who feel the
need to overachieve tend to secretly feel like they aren t good enough, because they are more focused
on not failing rather than achieving a good outcome (Arkin). The feeling of having

Boeing had a clear project scope and put emphasis on airline needs (directly speaking with major

and make sure that each task is carried out properly; Boeing is smart enough to pick experienced
managers who thoroughly understand how this industry/company operates as auditors so the review
process can be carried out more efficiently and accurately. During the plane design process, there are
four head engineers responsible for four technological areas and one chief engineer in charge of the

He was ranked number two on the list of the 100 greatest singers of all time and number ten on the list

with music, be it Rhythm Blues, Jazz, Rock Roll, Gospel, or Country and Western. I was born with
music inside me. That s the only explanation I know, is one of his best known quotes. With all odds
against him, Ray s driving force in life was music, and who better to sing the song America the
Beautiful other than one of the biggest music legends. He reinvented a piece of literature that
described America to a T. He added soul and sound to an old poem and breathed in new life for
generations to experience. With a story like his, there is not much of anything else that would be
considered more american to myself. He was a hardworking man, who persevered when most would
have given up, and he believed in his country; he loved America. Ray Charles, out of all people, had
every right to see no need in believing in such beauty in the world and caring for his country as he did,
but he did. And because of this, we have one of the most American songs that has ever been written, if
not the most. For those who may see this song as an easy option or too plain spoken, not delving into
the heart of America enough, I ask you to

Abstract
This investigation explores gentrification within the Trinity Spadina Ward of Toronto. The research
question of To what extent is gentrification present in the Liberty Village neighborhood of Toronto?
largely focuses on redevelopment, land use and population demographics. Based on the comparison of
four indicators between Ward 20 and the City of Toronto, it was hypothesised that gentrification is a
prominent agent of change in the Liberty Village neighborhood.
Property value, overall wealth, education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gentrification has a positive effect on a community in the sense that it ameliorates the local economy.
In lower income neighborhoods, the expansion of businesses and creation of jobs is limited by the
deficiency of monetary flow. However, as wealthier residents relocate to the area and invest money in
the community, businesses develop. Overtime, this trend continues and results in economic
development as well as more jobs, which benefits the community. Secondly, the process of
gentrification typically results in a lower crime rate. This is because gentrification involves the
attainment of vacant properties in order to build new developments. Therefore there will be a decrease
in vacant properties which typically attract crime. Additionally, an increase in population results in an
increase in local government revenue from taxes which can be spent on law

William Gibson s The Miracle Worker
In the book The Miracle Worker by William Gibson, Gibson utilizes diverse dramatic technique, props
and finger spelling in order to represent the internal and external conflicts between Helen Keller, and
Annie Sullivan throughout the play. Annie, the miracle worker who used to be blind has an external
conflict with Helen, who is blind, deaf, and partly mute. However, throughout the act, the relationship
starts to build and develops to a happy ending. Annie, who lost her loving brother Jimmie, suffers
from flashbacks which she cannot easily overcome the tragic memories. However, throughout the
book, Annie starts to overcome the bad memories by the interaction with Helen. In act 1, the external
conflict between Helen and Annie is significantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Annie! Annie, don t let them take me Annie!...But this voice is real, in the present, and Annie comes
up out of her horror, clearing her head with a final shake (22). This depicts Annie s painful memories
about her dead brother Jimmie on the past. It is inferable that Jimmie was taken from some stranger
and this was a very horrible event for Annie since the bad memory even comes out in her dream.
Addition to that it is also inferable that Annie regrets herself for not saving her brother no matter how
bad her condition was also. The memory of the tragic past remains to be her inner conflict. I crawled
in her like a drowned rat, I thought I died when Jimmie died, that I d Never again come alive. (20).
This quote is another example of Annie s tragic memory of the moment when Jimmie died but she got
to continue with her living. For Annie, this memory of her loving brother dead will be never be
forgotten in her life. This inner conflict which Annie will carry through her whole life leads her to be
more perseverance and caring characteristics when educating Helen to communicate. In act 2, Annie
continues with her inner conflict of flashback of her brother Jimmie, but she now gets stronger to
overcome the past experience. You said we ll be together, forever and ever and ever...Goodbye
Annie...Annie. It hurts, to be dead. Forever. (68 69). This creates an inner

The Forceful Effects Of The Trail Of Tears
The Trail of Tears refers to the forceful relocation and eventual movement of the Native American
communities from the South Eastern regions of the U.S. as a result of the enactment of the Indian
Removal Act in the year 1830. In the year 1838, in line with Andrew Jackson s policy of the Indians
removal, the Cherokee community was forced to surrender its land to the east of Mississippi River and
migrate to the present day Oklahoma. This journey was referred to as the Trail of Tears mainly due to
its devastating effects it had to the Indian people. The migrants faced extreme hunger, diseases and
exhaustion due to the forced march while more than 50,000 people died (Cave, 2003). The Trail of
Tears resulted in a devastating effect for the Indians such as extreme hunger, diseases and exhaustion
due to long walk and massive injustices and abuse of fundamental human rights.
According to Perdue (2008), the Trail of Tears is regarded as one of the tragic eras in the U.S. history
mainly due to the forceful relocation of the Indians. This is also considered as the beginning of the
Indian extermination by the U.S. government even though they had lived in the country several
centuries before the white settlers set their foot in America. After the American Revolution and the
eventual creation of the U.S., the Indians were regarded as a separate nation within a sovereign
country even though they were fully committed to a peaceful coexistence with the white settlers.
However, the white

Henry David Thoreau Symbolism
Henry David Thoreau was a complex writer and used a lot of symbolism to help express some of his
meaning. For example, in Where I Lived, and What I Lived For he used morning and bathing as
symbols for the point he was trying to get across. Thoreau referenced bathing as a religious exercise,
and it was a method of renewing oneself, They say that characters were engraven on the bathing tub of
King Tching thang to this effect: Renew thyself completely each day; do it again, and again, and
forever again (Thoreau 102). Obviously whenever you take a bath you are not going to become a new
person, but Thoreau is saying that bathing in the morning is refreshing and makes you feel fresher and
more motivated throughout the day. To Thoreau morning was, A cheerful invitation to make my life of
equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself (Thoreau 102). He was all about
simplicity which was the main reason that he moved into the woods in the first place. He goes on to
claim that the morning time is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What he is saying is that most of the population are not capable of thinking intelligently and that they
are just destined to do manual labor. A smaller percentage is capable of thinking intelligently, but a
fraction of humans has the ability to live a poetic life. The art of everyday living is the task every man
faces to improve his life, To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts. Every man is
tasked to make his life, even in its details, worthy of the contemplation of his most elevated and
critical hour (Thoreau 103). Thoreau describes beautiful art instead as painting a picture, or carving a
statue and making something beautiful, not perfecting you everyday

Green Man Flashing Essay
Green Man Flashing is a play written by Mike van Graan and it is a story about a woman named
Gabby Anderson who is sexually assaulted by her high profile black boss. This story explores her life
before the assault and after. It has moments of flashbacks and is a reverse chronology where the play
starts at the end. Green Man Flashing is a contemporary political piece because it explores modern
racism, universal eternal ideologies and the styles of flashbacks and simultaneous scenes are used.
Racism is an ideology that would always be a part of life however racism now is different to the
racism back then. Racism now is a very controversial idea; where issues like black people not being
racist but white people are racist are explored. In Green ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mike van Graan uses the style of flashbacks to tell the story because it shows that we all have to go
back to the past to grow as a person. This style of flashbacks also falls part of the idea of reminiscing;
that we all have a story to tell. The other style used is simultaneous scenes. This style is modern
because it adds to the idea of life not being how we want it to be. Life does not really have a certain
beginning and end; yes we are born and we die but when we choose is up to us and when where we
choose to die, give up, is also up to us. A great example of a simultaneous scene would be scene 14
when Anna, Gabbys best friend, and Aaron are having a conversation but also Gabby and Inspector
Abrahams, Gabbys detective, are also having a conversation. Mike van Graan couldn t literally make
the scenes simultaneous but he did make sure that he mentions that they are happening at the same
time to show normal conversation. The other choice of style Mike van Graan chose is that of not re
enacting some scenes and this makes this modern because it shows that whatever happened has
happened. South African back then used to dwell on many things such as pain but nowadays being sad
is not part of the plan, mourning is not given time. Aaron and Gabby do not give themselves time to
deal with their son s death whereas if it was back then it would have been a

Construction Of The Nannobody Library Report
Construction of the nanobody library
Overlapping PCR method was performed for the construction of CDR3 region from degenerate primer
(Fig.2a). Degenerate primer in CDR3, according to NKK number in primer, determined diversity of
the library. The diversity of the library theoretically could be 10 24, but practically it was estimated to
be 5×1011CFU/ml. By PCR assembly approach, CDR3 region was linked to the framework using
primer listed in table1 (Fig.2b). In order to obtain acceptable diversity, after insertion and ligation of
sequences obtained from overlapping PCR into pcomb3x vector, a total of 200 heatshock
transformations were accomplished. The final library population was about 5×1011 independent
clones. PCR analysis confirmed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4b). This clone was named C1and was taken for further characterization. Sequence analysis of C1
showed high homology (94%) with the VHH sequence published in the NCBI database.
Cross Reactivity of C1 VHH Antibodies
C1 VHH was analyzed against several unrelated proteins. ELISA results showed that the C1VHH has
specificity against HABD and MDA MB 231 cell lysate (Fig. 4c). The nanobody did not show
significant binding toward unrelated proteins/cells.
Expression in E. coli
Transformation of non suppressor E. coli Top10F0 with C1 phagemid was produced a soluble VHH,
showing as an 18 kDa band on SDS PAGE . For overexpression of nanobody, the anti CD44 VHH
gene was subcloned into pET28a expression vector. Nanobody expression and purification was
confirmed by SDS PAGE and Western Blotting. Expression of the VHH antibody fragments was
resulted in a sharp18 kDa band (Fig. 5).

Discussion
CD44, is one of the recognized tumorand CSC biomarkers and the main receptor for HA, playing
important roles in tumor development by involvement in cell adhesion and cell migration (Cortes
Dericks et al. 2017; Misra et al. 2015). Considering the roles of CD44 as a biomarker in the
assessment of treatment response, screening and differential diagnosis; expansion of a nanobody with
its unique characteristics for the recognition of CD44 could contribute todiagnosis, therapy and drug
delivery fornumerous cancer (Misra et al. 2011; Wang et al. 2016). To date, many naïve and

Geography Is Destiny Dbq
There is a saying that Geography is destiny . For early civilizations, geography was an obstacle when
it came to survival. As people settled in permanent locations, they relied on the local geographical
features to sustain themselves. As people relied on geography, it helped shape the development of
early civilizations, such as to provide many natural barriers, trade routes, and fertile land. China, for
example, was able to develop and prosper due to its natural barriers. Based on document six, China is
surrounded by the Pacific Ocean (to the west), the Himalayan Mountains (to the southwest), and the
Gobi Desert (up north). These natural barriers helped stop foreigners from invading China, thus
helping the civilization develop. Furthermore,

Where does the line between officer discretion and obligation does began and end? The answer is about as clear as mud and varies depending on the interaction. After reading a post from a fellow classmate I was informed that he had the discretion to asses a warning citation in light of a teenager observed to by the officer breaking many traffic laws. He had the ability issue a warning in the event the teenager informed his father of the incident and his father gave the officer a call to verify. The officer may have felt that to engage the individual that threw the elbow would have allowed the protestor to escape and possibly cause harm to himself or the individual guilty of the assault. • 6. Analysis Of Dennett s Qualia memory has changed when comparing the two. Since qualia cannot be used to verify claims about qualia, they are content less and incoherent or so Dennett s tale goes. IV. Dennett contra Qualia Dennett is a man upset. A man upset about qualia he seems appalled that something could exist which cannot be tested or used in some way to verify something. In fact, Dennett seems so upset about qualia he created his own idea of it, and argued against that instead of a more charitably (or correctly) understood definition. How, then, to prove the qualia Dennett uses is a strawman? Let s start by discussing his two examples first, with pump 5/6 on neurosurgery. Recall that Dennett believes the neurosurgeon showed that our qualia are less than private and immediately apprehensible. The neurosurgeon knew our qualia better we could not tell what was changed between our memory of past qualia and our current qualia. Dennett thinks pump 5/6 does particularly well in undermining the apprehensibility of qualia after all, the qualia itself seems useless is telling us just what has happened during the surgery. Except, qualia never could. The neurosurgeon, if he or she changed our memory, would still change our qualia our qualia of the memory. Dennett didn t seem to understand the scope of qualia here or that we produce it automatically from intending our consciousness toward anything at all, including memory. Although not disputed, Heaney s poetry maintains an objectivity that neither condemns nor accepts the turbulent past of his native Northern Ireland. His reaction to being included as a British poet, gave him the opportunity to acknowledge proudly his Irish heritage, yet he made light of the situation by incorporating a rhyme of green and Queen . All Heaney ever wanted was to be socially responsible and creatively free (Redress of Poetry, p193). He was able to achieve this in later life, and it manifested itself in the poem, Exposure from North (1975). • 23. Kant s Ethical Theory Of Ethics According to MacKinnon Fiala (2015), Kant s ethical theory is a deontological theory. A deontology theory is based on duties, obligations, and rights (p. 111). The focus of this essay is how Kant uses the Categorical Imperative to explain the nature of ethics. Immanuel Kant s basic moral principle the Categorical Imperative states, I should never act except in such a way that I can also will that my maxim should become a universal law (Giambusso, 2016, para. 2). His theory does not focus on the consequences of actions as the consequences have no part in deontological ethics, but the imperative that a person must do what is morally right without exception. One can use the Categorical Imperative as a formula to test if an action is morally right or wrong, and if done correctly the result will be the same for everyone. So, no one has to tell you what is right or wrong because when you use the formula correctly you can see for yourself what the correct ethical action is no matter the situation. Kant s example to explain the idea is lying to get out of a problematic situation. If one can substitute a certain situation for a rule of action (the maxim), and then can make this rule of action the universal rule, the rule for everyone to follow and the rule does not lead to a contradiction, then and only then is the action morally right. • 24. Le Morte Darthur, Gandalf And Merlin In a 1967 essay, J. R. R. Tolkien said he saw Gandalf as an angelic being, given the form of an old man to limit his powers on earth. He would never say the same of Merlin. While Tolkien drew much inspiration from Arthurian legend, especially Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte Darthur, Gandalf and Merlin are very different characters. Merlin is a man, one whose role in much of Arthurian legend is as a loyal servant of the Kings of Camelot, willing to do anything to help them. He also rarely performs serious acts of magic. Gandalf, on the other hand, is a warrior mage, an immortal being sent to protect the people of Middle Earth. Merlin had disguised the men so well that they took on the appearance of other people, enough that Igraine believed Uthor was her husband. Merlin s greatest feats usually involve shapeshifting and disguise, as well as perhaps prophecy. After Merlin comes to Arthur in the guise of a child, and then an old man, to tell him about his parentage, he says, But I ever ought to be heavy, for I shall die a shameful death, to be put in the earth quick, and ye shall die a worshipful death (Le Morte, 23). This foreshadows Merlin s death at the hands of his protégé Nineve, and Arthur s death at the end of the book, and illustrates that Merlin has some knowledge of the events in the future. He demonstrates this once again after subduing Sir Pellinore, when he tells Arthur, And he shall tell you the name of your own son begotten of your sister that shall be the destruction of all this realm (Le Morte, 29). Through his powers of foresight, Merlin can pinpoint what will bring about the end of Camelot. Gandalf, although immortal and powerful, rarely shows these powers of foresight. For example, in Where I Lived, and What I Lived For he used morning and bathing as symbols for the point he was trying to get across. Thoreau referenced bathing as a religious exercise, and it was a method of renewing oneself, They say that characters were engraven on the bathing tub of King Tching thang to this effect: Renew thyself completely each day; do it again, and again, and forever again (Thoreau 102). Obviously whenever you take a bath you are not going to become a new person, but Thoreau is saying that bathing in the morning is refreshing and makes you feel fresher and more motivated throughout the day. To Thoreau morning was, A cheerful invitation to make my life of equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself (Thoreau 102). He was all about simplicity which was the main reason that he moved into the woods in the first place. He goes on to claim that the morning time is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What he is saying is that most of the population are not capable of thinking intelligently and that they are just destined to do manual labor. A smaller percentage is capable of thinking intelligently, but a fraction of humans has the ability to live a poetic life. The art of everyday living is the task every man faces to improve his life, To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts. Every man is tasked to make his life, even in its details, worthy of the contemplation of his most elevated and critical hour (Thoreau 103). Thoreau describes beautiful art instead as painting a picture, or carving a statue and making something beautiful, not perfecting you everyday ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Green Man Flashing Essay Green Man Flashing is a play written by Mike van Graan and it is a story about a woman named Gabby Anderson who is sexually assaulted by her high profile black boss. This story explores her life before the assault and after. It has moments of flashbacks and is a reverse chronology where the play starts at the end. Green Man Flashing is a contemporary political piece because it explores modern racism, universal eternal ideologies and the styles of flashbacks and simultaneous scenes are used. Racism is an ideology that would always be a part of life however racism now is different to the racism back then. Racism now is a very controversial idea; where issues like black people not being racist but white people are racist are explored. In Green ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mike van Graan uses the style of flashbacks to tell the story because it shows that we all have to go back to the past to grow as a person. This style of flashbacks also falls part of the idea of reminiscing; that we all have a story to tell. The other style used is simultaneous scenes. This style is modern because it adds to the idea of life not being how we want it to be. Life does not really have a certain beginning and end; yes we are born and we die but when we choose is up to us and when where we choose to die, give up, is also up to us. A great example of a simultaneous scene would be scene 14 when Anna, Gabbys best friend, and Aaron are having a conversation but also Gabby and Inspector Abrahams, Gabbys detective, are also having a conversation. Mike van Graan couldn t literally make the scenes simultaneous but he did make sure that he mentions that they are happening at the same time to show normal conversation. The other choice of style Mike van Graan chose is that of not re enacting some scenes and this makes this modern because it shows that whatever happened has happened. South African back then used to dwell on many things such as pain but nowadays being sad is not part of the plan, mourning is not given time. Aaron and Gabby do not give themselves time to deal with their son s death whereas if it was back then it would have been a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Construction Of The Nannobody Library Report Construction of the nanobody library Overlapping PCR method was performed for the construction of CDR3 region from degenerate primer (Fig.2a). Degenerate primer in CDR3, according to NKK number in primer, determined diversity of the library. The diversity of the library theoretically could be 10 24, but practically it was estimated to be 5×1011CFU/ml. By PCR assembly approach, CDR3 region was linked to the framework using primer listed in table1 (Fig.2b). In order to obtain acceptable diversity, after insertion and ligation of sequences obtained from overlapping PCR into pcomb3x vector, a total of 200 heatshock transformations were accomplished. The final library population was about 5×1011 independent clones. PCR analysis confirmed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 4b). This clone was named C1and was taken for further characterization. Sequence analysis of C1 showed high homology (94%) with the VHH sequence published in the NCBI database. Cross Reactivity of C1 VHH Antibodies C1 VHH was analyzed against several unrelated proteins. ELISA results showed that the C1VHH has specificity against HABD and MDA MB 231 cell lysate (Fig. 4c). The nanobody did not show significant binding toward unrelated proteins/cells. Expression in E. coli Transformation of non suppressor E. coli Top10F0 with C1 phagemid was produced a soluble VHH, showing as an 18 kDa band on SDS PAGE . For overexpression of nanobody, the anti CD44 VHH gene was subcloned into pET28a expression vector. Nanobody expression and purification was confirmed by SDS PAGE and Western Blotting. Expression of the VHH antibody fragments was resulted in a sharp18 kDa band (Fig. 5). Place of Figure 5 Discussion CD44, is one of the recognized tumorand CSC biomarkers and the main receptor for HA, playing important roles in tumor development by involvement in cell adhesion and cell migration (Cortes Dericks et al. 2017; Misra et al. 2015). Considering the roles of CD44 as a biomarker in the assessment of treatment response, screening and differential diagnosis; expansion of a nanobody with its unique characteristics for the recognition of CD44 could contribute todiagnosis, therapy and drug delivery fornumerous cancer (Misra et al. 2011; Wang et al. 2016). • 48. Geography Is Destiny Dbq There is a saying that Geography is destiny . For early civilizations, geography was an obstacle when it came to survival. As people settled in permanent locations, they relied on the local geographical features to sustain themselves. As people relied on geography, it helped shape the development of early civilizations, such as to provide many natural barriers, trade routes, and fertile land. China, for example, was able to develop and prosper due to its natural barriers. Based on document six, China is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean (to the west), the Himalayan Mountains (to the southwest), and the Gobi Desert (up north). These natural barriers helped stop foreigners from invading China, thus helping the civilization develop. Furthermore, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
