Figurative Language In Ozymandias
Can one person truly immortalize himself? This is a question most people are often plagued with.
Although one s body is mortal, Ozymandias, written by Shelley, conveys the truth of immortality.
The poem is about a traveler telling a story about an Egyptian pharaoh,
Ozymandias, and his statue. In the poem, a statue of Ozymandias is described by the author as
crumbled and scarcely left. Even though he was successful in his time period, his legacy could not
last. Therefore, no matter how much power one holds, his work will eventually be forgotten to all
and left in the past. Nothing truly can remain throughout all of time: everything one built will
eventually be destroyed by time. The idea that power is transient is portrayed through
Shelley s use of irony, symbolism, and figurative language.
Irony is extremely prevalent in this poem, contrasting power and mortality. Throughout this piece,
the author describes Ozymandias as a ruthless and powerful Egyptian ruler, but continually relates
back to the current state of his achievements. For instance, the engraving on
Ozymandias s statue states,
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Sarah Kelley: good title
Sarah Kelley: citation needed
Labas 2
The author dictates that Ozymandias was attempting for his statue to be a symbol of strength.
This is evident through how he views himself, as the King of Kings , and how he tells people that
view the statue that they must look at everything he has accomplished and cower before his power.
However, there is nothing left of his work, except for his crumbling statue and his kingdom of
ruins. This use of irony strengthens the idea that power is transient because
Ozymandias was extremely feared and he held a massive amount of authority. Nevertheless, all that
he succeeded in building played victim to the cruel hands of time. The irony transforms the tone of
the poem from prideful to pitiful.
Furthermore, symbolism plays a huge part in this poem. One of the main symbols in this piece
was the sand. Shelley mentions the sand multiple times to draw emphasis to it, and pairs it with
words such as stretch and level . These words pertain to time, and one can assume the sand is
referring

Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress Analysis
Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie is a novel about two boys, a narrator and
Luo, who are undergoing re education in the mountains amidst the cultural revolution in communist
China. Sijie showcases the harsh reality of re education, and how certain events change the way the
two boys think and behave. This passage focuses on the narrator, as he takes advantage of an
opportunity to inflict painon the village headman while he is having a tooth removed. The transition
from the narrator s fear and discomfort at the beginning of the passage to outright vindictiveness by
the end reveals his resentment toward re education.
In lines 1 15, the narrator begins the operation, revealing the narrator s anxiety and discomfort. Sijie
used words like trepidation and brace to describe the narrator s feelings as the procedure began. This
anticipative diction highlights the apprehension the narrator feels, reinforcing how uncomfortable
and afraid he feels of the events to follow. The tension in the scene builds through the use of
alliteration. The movement of the drill is described as a relentless rhythm, emphasizing the narrator
s lack of control during his assignment. Additionally, to emphasize the perilous nature of the
narrator s situation, words like juddered, and trembled were used to describe the drill. The
description mirrors the narrator s apprehension from the beginning of the passage, showing that the
drill is, in essence, an extension of the narrator.

The Role Of Anthropologists And Archaeologists Were...
Artions of anthropologists and archaeologists were oppressive because they completely ignored
beliefs and cultures of American Indians. It should be recognized that some who study these topics

the culprits behind the destruction of Native American Under the guise of historically beneficial

archaeologists dug up hundreds of thousands of bodies in the last three centuries. The exact

In 1988 with the publication of an article from the American Museum of Natural History in New

such an undoubtedly high number caused a wave of surprise in and out of First Nations

Amazon s Business Model Analysis Essay
Amazon
Amazon.com is ranked number one out of the Top 25 U.S. E commerce Retailers (ranked by annual
sales) as of 2016 (Zaczkiewicz, p 1). Amazon ranks above many other e commerce retailers, such as
Wal Mart, Apple, Staples, and Macy s. The business model, customer value propositions, revenue
model, marketspace, main competitors, comparative advantages, market strategy, management
team, and organizational structure has helped Amazon to stay in business since 1996.
Business Model
Amazon s business model is selling products (basically anything or everything a person could want
or need) from all over the world. Other than the United States, Amazon has separate website
divisions for Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico,
Netherlands, Spain, and United Kingdom. Since Amazon has included so many other countries, it
makes it easier for people to find the products they are looking for and pay with their own currency.
That reason has led Amazon to being the number one e commerce retailer.
Customer Value Propositions
The customer value propositions for Amazon have always been price and convenience since the
company started. Low prices have always been a huge deal for Amazon since they have Earth s
Biggest Selection of products available through their family of websites, sold at the lowest cost at
a small profit (Noren, p 1). Convenience plays a major part in Amazon s customer value
propositions with low shipping costs and sometimes

Behavior Change Assignment Analysis
Behavior Change Assignment My goal for this behavior change assignment is to get at least
seven hours of sleep for at least five nights a week for at least two weeks. I set my goal to be at
least seven hours because that is the recommended number of hours of sleep a adult should have
each night. I wanted to make this behavior change because I find myself feeling tired and
exhausted throughout the day because of the lack of sleep I get. I also wanted to make this
behavior change because I began to take naps in the afternoon. After waking up from these naps,
I felt even more exhausted and tired than before I took the nap. I m hoping that by getting more
sleep at night that I can eliminate naps so I can use my time for something more productive.

Effects Of Schizophrenia On Society
Many people do not have a full understanding of what schizophrenia is and its affect on the
individual diagnosed and its affect on society. So the question at hand is what exactly is
schizophrenia? Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental disorder that affects how a person
thinks, feels, and behaves. (NIH) Although schizophreniais not as common as other mental
disorders, it can be very disabling. Approximately 7 to 8 individuals out of 1000 will get
schizophrenia in their lifetime. People with this disorder have many symptoms and issues. Those
with schizophrenia may hear voices or see things that are not actually there. They may also believe
that other people are reading their minds, controlling their thoughts, or plotting to harm them....

Individuals with schizophrenia can still be before or after those ages but is more unlikely after
the age of 45. Childhood diagnosis of schizophrenia has become more and more advanced
recently. Early onset and diagnoses during the teen years is very difficult. To diagnose a teen is
difficult due to the overlap in behavior between schizophrenia and regular teenage behavior. Teens
that are diagnosed usually show the first symptoms of change of friends, a drop in grades, sleep
problems, and irritability. These symptoms are exactly identical to how regular teens act, causing
the problem with the diagnosis of schizophrenia. Usually the first of the symptoms to occur are the
hallucinations and delusions. But, many other factors can help diagnose youth that have
schizophrenia. Some factors that can predict schizophrenia in up to 80 percent of youth who are at
high risk of developing the illness. (NIH)
Reason for the contraction of schizophrenia is still not yet known. Many scientists believe that it is
part hereditary mixed with environmental factors.
Treatments are becoming more widely available for those with schizophrenia. Researchers are still
continuously developing more effective treatments and using new research tools to understand the
causes of schizophrenia. In years to come, this work may help prevent and better treat the illness.

music industry was failing due to declining CD sales. Although a valid statement, the music
industry is not failing; instead, it is changing in many aspects due to file sharingand illegal

comeback vinyl records have made. Today, digital files are the most popular form of obtaining

sued her $9,250 for each of 24 songs they focused on in the case. They had alleged she shared
1,702 songs online in violation of their copyrights. Although the consequences are harsh, the
chances of getting caught with the act are so slim because there are so many people sharing
smaller amounts of files to other peers. It seems to be that this type of change of listening and
obtaining music is inevitable because there are just so many benefits that outweigh the negative
aspects.
The music industry is changing in the respect that single songs and playlists are dominating entire
albums. In other words, more people prefer to purchase individual songs by other artists rather than
purchasing entire albums. What made this possible was the creation of iTunes and its music store,
but of course an iPod is necessary with the two. With the iTunes music store, one has the option
to either buy an entire album, typically for $9.99, or purchase individual songs for $.99 each.
Listeners can also preview the songs up to ninety seconds, which can either make or break the
decision to buy the song or album. If one were to purchase the individual songs, they would
essentially be saving more money, which is more appealing. It brings up the question, Who would
not want to purchase only the good songs from an album for a cheaper

Boundless Fluorine Essay
Introduction The elemental group F, Cl, Br, I, and At, located in the seventeenth column of the
periodic table, are known as Halogens. Halogens are nonmetals and they have an effective nuclear
charge, because of this they re highly electronegative. Due to their electronegativity, they re very
reactive and they gain electrons through reactions with other elements. However, halogens can be
very harmful or deadly to biological organisms. Physical properties of Halogens When the
electron shells are filled, the atoms get bigger as you go down the group of halogens. When

The color of this element reflects the reactivity of it. The appearance is a very pale yellow

elements and reacts mostly to metals. An example of this is when steel wood is exposed to
fluorine it bursts into flames ( Fluorine Element Information, Properties and Uses | Periodic Table.

to help develop the atom bomb and other projects having to do with that. It s also been used to
help make gases for high powered transformers. It s also used in teflon, cable insulation,
plumbers tape, and a base for waterproof shoes and clothes. Chlorine has a similar look to
fluorine. Chlorine is a yellow green dense gas. It has a very distinct smell to it and has been used
as a chemical weapon. It also kills bacteria and is used as a disinfectant. Chlorine disinfects
drinking water and swimming pool water and is also used in organic chemistry. It can be used as
an oxidising agent and in substitution reactions. But in the past it was used to make chloroform.

Poor choices is when a character does something and trouble is an expected or end result to the
situation. This element is in the story a lot, with the narrator, when killing the old man and the
events leading up to the killing. While watching the old man, the narrator described, I made up
my mind to take the life of the old man (Poe,295). The narrator is not thinking about what will
happen as consequences to this action. If the narrator had not made this decision to kill the man,
this whole story would have stopped and been boring. Lastly, the narrator stated, NOw you may

says the decision he had and how he chose not to draw back and stop there. If the narrator had

Carnage And Culture By Victor Davis Hanson

He looks at the army and warfare in terms of men, technology, valour and victory (Hanson 68). He
also discusses the west?s militarism tradition. A tradition supports mobilization of citizen soldiers
and animating them with principles of collective endeavor. According to Victor Hanson, it is the
west?s tradition that has helped them develop and maintain a strong military power. Hanson
struggles to recreate nine ?landmark? episodes of combat through which the west gradually started
their rise to the top. In this approach, three classical period episodes are depicted to show the
situational onset of the rise of the west as Salamis, Cannae and Gaugamela. Hanson depicts these
battles to have manifested particular western lethal military machinery. Moreover, the chronology
is given a vivid progression when the author depicts that gradual spread of the western style war
machinery through three additional battles as Tenochtitlan, Poitiers and Lepanto. The author
eventually examined the gradual mechanism of battle spread from Europe into the west. The distinct
military style of invincibility is further traced through Midway, Rorke?s Drift and Tet.
John Lynn, on the other hand, tries to conceptualize the relationship between practical dimensions
of war and cultural factors. Although he tries to undermine Victor Hanson?s idea of war, he
discusses the realities of combat and discourse of war based on social and political

In learning about The Beatles over the past few months, I have gained great appreciation for
them as a band. Particularly, I really enjoyed learning about and listening to the many love songs

chose the three songs I enjoyed most. They are each love songs from a different era of The Beatles
work throughout their years. I Should Have Known Better , Michelle , and Dear Prudence have all
left great impressions on me. I Should Have Known Better was issued on the B side of A Hard Day

single along with A Hard Day s Night as the Soundtrack to the film also called A Hard Day s Night,
which was released on July 10, 1964 (Wikipedia, 2016). This song was one of many inspired by
Bob Dylan as we learned he left quite the impression on the Beatles, especially Lennon. This
inspiration led Lennon to write more meaningful lyrics (Benitez, 2016). It is easy to understand
why this song was popular reaching the top Billboard charts at number 53 as Lennon s harmonica
playing skills are capturing (Wikipedia, 2016). The song opens with Lennon playing the
harmonica and it has a very upbeat, light tune and melody. This song is the first song since I m a

Minority Student Diversity
Abstract
Within the last decade or so, the number of minority students and first generation students enrolling,
attending and graduating from colleges in the US has increased significantly despite the rising cost
of enrollment. This increase is due to the available scholarships, funding opportunities, affirmative
action or quota to be met by these institutions. The shift in the number of minority students
graduating has also affected the diversity of people in the workplace. Although discrimination
legally ended more than 40 years ago with the Civil Rights Movement, the ongoing battle of
minority people in the United States trying to assimilate into a culture and justice system that does

black and Latino students are attending college at higher rates, they are not given the tools
necessary to graduate and succeed at the same rates as their white counterparts. 30% of black and

particularly with the students but the system that does not support them. Michael Dannenberg,

The True Character of Isabella in Measure for Measure
Some critics of Shakespeare s play, Measure for Measure, judge Isabella as a narrow minded but
passionate girl afflicted with an irrational terror of sex (Barton, 546), a young, immature woman
demonstrating moral absurdity and cruelty (Nicholls, 478), whose actions are scarcely defensible.
A classmate of mine asked, Why doesn t Isabella just sleep with Angelo? What s the big deal? These
statements reveal that these people have no understanding or sympathy for Isabella s position:
socially, morally or physically.

Yet I found that the script does allow for an Isabella of greater richness than we usually see
reflected in print. From within, I measured her differently.
We often hear that Isabella is a rigid absolutist, particularly in her attitude toward sexual activity
outside marriage. But beginning at the beginning, I found that Isabella is a humorous, tolerant wit.
Now I imagine that those adjectives surprise you, but let me move through her first scene, taking
into account the choices our director Ronnie Larson, the other actors and I made. In Act I scene iv, I
was blocked to enter quietly, head down, and then suddenly see the Duke (disguised in his monk

hesitantly blessed me with the sign of the cross. I smiled and shook my head slightly, amused at
his evident bashfulness, thinking Who is this strange brother? This moment gave me a sense of
calm certainty I knew what I was doing in this convent and in a habit, even if he didn t. I passed
downstage of him as he exited, unfurled a large white cloth on the stage as a symbolic altar, and
kneeled on it, beginning an audible rosary, Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Our Lucio, entering from the audience, saw me praying and knelt down beside me for his line,
Hail, virgin, if you be.

This amounts to 165 minutes a week for a three credit class that meets three times a week for 55

According to Women s Health magazine the correct amount of exercise for any gender adult is
150 minutes a week (Narins). This means the physical education course could easily be
translated to reach the requirements of contact hours of a typical three credit course. However,
where this physical education course would fall short compared to other classes would be the
classwork that is required in other ordinary three credit bearing courses, like exams, compositions,
and other assignments. For this reason, the physical education class will be structured like many
of the music classes at Lakeland College that are worth one credit. Having the course bear one
credit is reasonable since the 150 minute required fitness time is done at the student s leisure,
meaning there is not enough contact hours with a professor to fulfill the three credit class
requirements. Since, students in the class can only earn one credit per semester for this course,
students can keep enrolling in it each semester. This means, that in order to fulfill Natural Science

The Human Factor by Graham Greene and The Remains of the...
The twentieth century is the century with the greatest loss of human life in the history of
civilization. It was a time of mistrust and espionage. To be loyal is defined as faithful to one s
oath, commitments, or obligations (OED). It is not easily given, yet it can easily be lost. Two
books, The Human Factor by Graham Greene and The Remains of the Dayby Kazuo Ishiguroshow
that some loyalties are bought, while others are earned. Earned loyalty tends to last while
loyalty that is bought tends to fade. Through the characters Stevens and Castle, they demonstrate
this difference. While both characters demonstrate external loyalty, Stevens loyalty was
purchased, and Castle s was earned. Castle s genuine loyalty allows him to risk his life, while
Stevens loyalty is only compliance. Stevens, in The Remains of the Day, lives only to serve.
Whoever employs him is awarded with blind loyalty. He works tirelessly to please his master.
No act is too great or small to complete. All it takes is for a wealthy man to give him his paycheck
and in return they get his life. Stevens is not one to take time off. He dedicates his life to the
house. His mind is always on the subject of his job. His actions all concern his role as the butlerof
the house. He puts it ahead of family, of love, of his morals. He lets the love of his life slip
through his fingers because of his devotion to the job. He believes a butler who is forever

calls a girl Mufasa because she is lying. There, Gambino uses a metaphor to express how he feels
about the girl; he calls her Mufasa, a lion. Lying can also be misheard as lion ; so in essence,
Gambino called her out for lying twice. In the next line, he uses a simile with a play on words

strip is a famous land area in the middle east. Gambino switches the order of the words and
makes strip into a verb. The lines of the song mean that in essence, his home is her home and she
basically makes herself comfortable by stripping down. The verse closes with the lines, sorry, I m
just scared of the future. Till 3005, I got your back, we can do this, hold up. At this point, the

The Fort Garry Hotel
In the ever changing world of the hospitality and tourism there is always the question of what
happened in the past and what does the future hold when it comes to trends and ideas for new
entrepreneurs who are trying to break into the industry. In one hand we have the story of the Fort
Garry Hotel in Manitoba, Canada. This is the story written by Giles Bugaisliskis where he tells us
about the beginnings of this historic hoteland how their first owners had an idea and wanted to
make it successful. The idea: to have a chain of hotels along the rail road with a new corporate
look. (Bugaisliskis) The owners seemed to have known what the public wanted and they set out to
shape the hotel industry. Fast forward to today where the hotel industry is highly competitive and
the inventory of hotels and resorts is as large as the many types of customers that they attempt to
serve. In the counterpart of this critique, we have an article by Diana Foris, Cristina Nicolau and
Tiberiu Foris about the future trends in the tourism in relationship to education and youth. What do
young people want, where do they want to spend their money, and how does this younger crowd
dictate the way hotels and resorthave to accommodate and adapt to the new century big spenders
(Foris, Nicolau, Foris). The old entrepreneurs and the new entrepreneurs have one thing in common,
they want to succeed in the hospitality business but they have also different challenges that
changed with the passing of years.

Nanny Services Essay
Nanny services is a merit good, a socially desirable but often under provided good. In a free
perfect competition market structure of nanny services, market failure, the inability to recognise
allocative efficiency, arise as a positive externality of consumption. A positive externality of
consumption is when the consumption of a good provides social benefits that exceed the private
benefits enjoyed by a consumer. In [Figure 1] assuming ceteris paribus, private benefit is an
incentive for both demand and supply market forces within a free unregulated market, and
equilibrium will result as the quantity being Q market at the price of P market. The marginal social
benefit curve represents the spill over benefits exceeding the private benefits... Show more content

There are various factors that determine the effectiveness of the imposition of a specific
subsidy. Ideally, the size of the specific subsidy is to be equivalent to the spill over benefits.
However, the extent of spill over benefits cannot be accurately measured. Therefore the
coincidence of marginal private cost curve and the marginal social cost curve is improbable. The
advantage of a specific subsidy is a greater quantity of nanny services can be produced, achieving
social optimum, at a relatively lower price. There are low socioeconomic status consumers with
low levels of income and poverty. Conscious or oblivious of the spill over benefits in the
consumption of nanny services, they are financially incapable to afford nanny services and are
excluded in the marginal private benefit curve. Therefore a specific subsidy, is inclusive of the
quantity demanded from low socioeconomic status consumers, encouraging and enabling them to
consume merit goods. The primary disadvantage of a specific subsidy is its opportunity cost.
Subsidising the nanny service market may deprive the opportunity of another market being
subsidised. Hypothetically, if the nanny service market was subsidised, the nanny service market is
developing efficiently at the expense of another market developing less or inefficiently. Another
disadvantage is despite the imposition of a subsidy, the issue of consumer ignorance arise, where a
portion of consumers are oblivious to the spill over benefits in the consumption of nanny

America Needs Media Censorship Essay
America Needs Media Censorship
Introduction
In a world in which acts of heinous violence, murder or crude and shocking behavior seem to be
a normal occurrence, it may lead one to wonder what has put society onto this slippery slope.
How did this type of behavior come to be so acceptable and in some cases glorifiable? A careful
study of society may lead to multi media as being the main cause in this changing of ideals. The
modern world has become desensitized to the acts shown on television, movies, video games or
printed in newspapers and magazines. Censorship must be employed if morals and decency are to
be preserved.
Censorship is a controversial word that has been with us since who knows when. Ancient dictators
would burn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence that shows censorship may be positive is explained when we examine what drives
delinquent activity. ?To see this, we must take a look at what is inside the mind of a criminal.
Eighty one percent of criminals rate pornography as their highest sexual interest. This means that a
clear majority of criminals like pornography and find it highly interesting. Most other people
probably rank other human beings as their highest sexual interest.? Further evidence of the relation
between pornography and crime is seen when an adult bookstore is closed; the crime rate in the
surrounding areas falls significantly. With this we see that censorship is a helpful idea for America.
People don?t realize that violence on television or video games does have effect on them. Take, for
example, the video game ?James Bond,? one of the highest selling games ever. This games put
you in the eyes of an assailant and makes killing look like fun, or that its no big deal. Another
example is sex on T.V. A boy that has been brought up with never watching sexual explicate
material or being surrounded by people that talk about sexual activities, would be less likely to
be as interested in the practice of sex, as a kid that watches porno all the time, making him less
likely to commit a sexual crime. ?A lot of people in the world are against censorship just for the
mere reason they say it?s unconstitutional;? they believe it is taking away

Analyzing Resources and Capabilities
Analysts have tended to define assets too narrowly, identifying only those that can be measured,
such as plant and equipment. Yet the intangible assets, such as a particular technology, accumulated
consumer information, brand name, reputation, and corporate culture, are invaluable to the п¬Ѓrm s
competitive power. In fact, these invisible assets are often the only real source of competitive edge
that can be sustained over time.

Basing Strategy on Resources and Capabilities
During the 1990s, ideas concerning the role of resources and capabilities as the principal basis for
firm strategy and the primary source of profitability coalesced into what has become known as
the resource based view of the п¬Ѓrm.1 To understand why the resource based view has had a
major impact on strategy thinking, let us go back to the starting point for strategy formulation:
typically some statement of the п¬Ѓrm s identity and purpose (often expressed in a mission
statement). Conventionally, п¬Ѓrms have answered the question what is our business? in terms of
the market they serve: who are our customers? and which of their needs are we seeking to serve?
However, in a world where customer preferences are volatile and the identity of customers and the
technologies for serving them are changing, a market focused strategy may not provide the stability
and constancy of direction needed to guide strategy over the long term.2 When the external

Dessau Bauhaus Vs Laurenian Library
In the Dessau Bauhaus by Walter Gropius, the central element is removed, emphasizing the void

The Melting Pot Of America
The melting pot of America is a concept of social and racial acceptance, where individuals from
across the globe can be transparently acknowledged, without being judged by their ethnicity or
race. A thought doesn t specifically reflect reality all the time, as the melting pot has never been
broadly acknowledged in America at any point in our nation s history. With the pandemic of
violence growing and tensions rising between races, with groups like Black Lives Matter, and
Antifa, contrasts between racial groups run widespread with hate against one another for the color
of their skin. However, Texas State University student Rudy Martinez, wrote an article in the
university s newspaper about how to end these tensions. Martinez affirms that all these racial
tensions come from a social construct made by white peoplecalled, whiteness , which assimilates
and separates all races from whites. Throughout the article, he explains that the separation caused by
whiteness kept all other races down, while whites remained oblivious to the advantages their skin
brings them. But despite having an interesting concept, there are many weaknesses in Martinez s
argument because he constantly contradicts himself. He tells readers that we should hate the
concept of whiteness instead, and not white people just because they were born, but instead
contradicts this with his main headline being, Your DNA is an abomination (Martinez), which
counters his own argument because he hates on white

The Farmers Alliance, founded by Charles W. Macune in 1875, had similar focus as the

Case Analysis Of Ritter V. Auntie Ruth s Furry Friends
Case Law Analysis Case Summary
In a perfect world, there would be no need for laws protecting people from employment
discrimination; however, in this often unjust world, discrimination continues. Hence, federal and
state protections exist for certain groups of people sharing common characteristics. Some of these
protected classes are race, religion or creed, gender, and disability (EEOC, 2015). In the legal case
of Ritter v. Auntie Ruth s Furry Friends (ARFF), Ritter claimed she became the target of age
discrimination after the business was sold to two people under the age of thrty. The following is
an overview of the case that highlights how ignorance of or willful disregard of the rights of
others can be a costly mistake. While laws are unlikely to change the minds of those who seek to
discriminate, those breaking the law must be held accountable.
Case Summary
In the above referenced case, Ritter, the appellant, began her employment as the general manager
at the boarding kennel approximately one year prior to the sale of the business. In 2012, the
business changed ownership to Annie Haubenhofer and Mike McKinley. Upon taking ownership,
they required all current employees to reapply for their jobs. AARF rehired all of the existing
employees, including Ritter, subject to a 90 day probationary period. As general manager, Ritter
informed Haubenhofer that questions on the new application, such as age and year of high school

the disconnection between Aurora and Felicia originates with the death of Alma. Alma dies,
when it was supposed to be Aurora the one that should have died. The only thing that saved her

In chapter 8, the connection that is developed between her and Aurora shows that Aurora could
come back to Echo Park. Felicia s decision of giving her dog, Blackjack, to Aurora and making
her accept that it is her dog now, represents her accepting that Echo Park is her home. Through
this act, Felicia s intentions of making Aurora realize that Echo Park is part of her identity and
her home is proven. Therefore, when the dog escapes and gets lost, she sends Aurora to find it
as if she sends her to realize that Echo Park is her home. Through her journey of finding the dog,
Aurora finds herself learning what Echo Park has become from what she remembers. This shows
that Felicia is the earth because she never left Echo Park and she wanted her daughter to not leave
it either. She wanted Aurora to not forget where her real home is, which identifies her and makes
her part of Echo Park too. I think Felicia s character is important to the novel and the realization of
Aurora towards Echo Park being her home. I believe we need to remember from where we come
and be proud of our roots because that is what identifies us and makes us unique. It is not wrong
to want to succeed in life like Aurora wanted to, but we also need to know and accept ourselves,
which includes our background and history. Our history is what identifies us and makes us stand

Impact of Reaganomics on the American Economy
Leading up to the year 1981, America had fallen into a period of stagflation , a portmanteau for
stagnant economy and high inflation . Characterized by high taxes, high unemployment, high
interest rates, and low national spirit, America needed to look to something other than Keynesian
economics to pull itself out of this low. During the election of 1980, Ronald Reagans campaign
focused on a new stream of economic policy. His objective was to turn the economy into a healthy,
vigorous, growing economy [which would provide] equal opportunities for all Americans, with no
barriers born of bigotry or discrimination. Reagan s policy, later known as Reaganomics, entailed a

Reagan s deficit spending did not only affect that period of time, it created a tolerance for deficit
spending that will continue to affect the economy for many years.
This time saw much prosperity for certain areas, such as the stock market. Investors were
receiving astonishingly high returns on stocks and were seeing their incomes skyrocket.
Overall, during the 1980s real GDP per capita increased by 23% and the value of the stock
market almost tripled. However the economic choices Reagan made transferring the weight of
taxes from the rich to the poor had unfairly redistributed the wealth in the nation. Along with the
great prosperity came the equal suffering on the part of the lower class who felt the pains of
Reagan s policies. The wealthiest в…• of Americans income soared by a rate of 14%, while the

Even though Reagan was very confident about his economic plan many others were weary of his

Reagan s policy would not live up to its predicted outcome; ironically enough Bush and his son both
adopted these policies during their presidencies. Many important congressmen had many fears in

Neighbor Rosicky Character Analysis
BABYLON REVISITED AND NEIGHBOR ROSICKY 2 F. Scott Fitzgerald s Babylon
Revisited and Willa Cather s Neighbor Rosicky 1. In Willa Cather s Neighbor Rosicky , the
protagonist is hardworking, hospitable, and generous. The main character, Anton Rosicky, is a
hardworking individual, as indicated by the following mentioned by Dr. Burleigh: ...you ve
[that is, Anton Rosicky] always worked hard, and your heart s tired. You ve got to be careful
from now on, and you can t do heavy work anymore (Cather, 1928, p. 1). The lines clearly
illustrates that Anton Rosicky is someone who is often found working hard on his farm. In
addition to that, it appears as though he loves to work hard. Even after the doctor advised Anton
not do any strenuous work in the fields, the protagonist still asked Dr. Burleigh if he could be
allowed to shell corn. The doctor immediately turned down his request. Rosicky s question
reveals that he is reluctant to give up his farm work. It, therefore, suggests that he enjoys the
work of being a farmer. Anton Rosicky is also a hospitable individual. This is demonstrated by
the following lines: He [that is, Dr. Burleigh] did not know another farm house where a man
could get such a warm welcome, and such good strong coffee with rich cream (Cather, 1928, p.
3). The above lines indicate that Rosicky would go beyond what was expected of him to make
his guests stay at him home comfortable. Furthermore, it appears as if the welcoming or
inviting attitude that Rosicky had was transferred to the rest of his household. For example, the
narrator describes how the long table , which was prepared by Anton s wife and daughter, was
covered with a bright oilcloth , and also set out with dishes waiting for the doctor (Cather, 1928,
p. 3). Anton s wife also made the kitchen full of the smell of coffee , hot biscuit , and sausage
(Cather, 1928, p. 3). Moreover, Anton s sons took Dr. Burleigh s fur coat from off his back
before hanging it up and helped to put his horse away (Cather, 1928, p. 3). It can be said that
BABYLON REVISITED AND NEIGHBOR ROSICKY 3 Anton s warmth and hospitality was so
sincere that it inspired the other family members to behave in the same way. In addition, Cather s

nonexistent except for retirement and Lincoln s organization culture supported on closeness, trust,

In 1895, John C. Lincoln took out his second patent and began to fabricate his improved motor.

The golden rule
James F. Lincoln was the son of a minister and Christian values were at the middle of his
philosophy. However, nothing pointed that he attempted to evangelize his workers, customers or
the public. His slogan was the actual is limited, the possible in immense , which didn t display any
religious beliefs. He also had different views on customers, stockholders and union members. He
believe that customers interest should be the top priority and that stockholders should be the last
priority which is still the philosophy til today. He also Excused mistreatment of union power as and
believe that there must be absolute honesty and understanding between the hourly worker and
management if high efficiency is to be acquired.
The incentive management plan
It is a sort of complex scheme of management with an incentive program that has taken the company
a lengthy time to evolve to the point that new employees will trust it. It has four central elements
the open door policy, the merit based bonuses, the use of piecework and the believable promise of
guaranteed employment. The four policy elements strongly strengthen each other out on the factory

Peer On Peer File Sharing
Peer to Peer File Sharing
Have you ever heard of peer to peer file sharing technology or P2P? What is P2P? According to
J.A Pouwelse. P. Garbacki and his article The Bittorrent P2P File Sharing System: Measurements
and Analysis , P2P is the transfer of a digital file from one peer to another. peer refers to
computer clients. This transfer can be as simple as the File Transfer Protocol(FTP), which transfer
a file directly to a visitor s personal computer through a server hosted website (Pouwelse, Garbacki,
Epema, Sip, 2005). File sharing create many ethical issues, but these ethical issues can be
different if we are looking at it morally, ethically or legally. Moral is an individual s belief about
right or wrong. Not everyone will have the same moral beliefs because they have different
background or culture. For examples, we can see many people streaming many document online
and or sharing this document and these people do not consider this issue a problem. If we look
at it in an author stand point we might consider this issue a problem since it influences our
benefit. On the other hand, if we are looking at a user standpoint, we do not think it is a problem
because we are not paying for the information we are accessing. We can conclude, that It depends
on your cultural belief. Ethic is a belief that depends on the society. The society or a group
determines if a situation is good or bad. An individual cannot change the ethical belief unless a

College Campus Rape Culture
Certain things are a given about college life. New opportunities, new friends, new living
situations, but also, new dangers. No matter what college, what area, whether it is a notorious
party school or not, there is always a danger that comes with placing hormonal youths in close
contact with drugs, alcohol, and each other. Yet, few parents are afraid for the safety their young
sons. Many parents fear for the safety of their daughters, in an environment where drugs and
alcohol are the norm. The college party culture has been renowned for placing shame and blame on
young girls who are the victims of rapeand sexual assault. So, I created a model for a poster which
protests this campus, and also nationwide rape culture.
The first element of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not misandry, it is just historical fact. A 1997 U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics study
showed that 91% of rape victims are female... and 99% of arrestees for rape are male. Many
rapes are underreported or played down as mistakes , lapses in judgement , etc. This excusing of
rape is central to rape culture, especially that of campus rape. This trend can be seen in the way
that Brock Turner s father tried to explain away his son s rape of the Stanford rape victim, as 20
minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life. This could be the understatement of the year!
Those 20 minutes of action made a huge and permanent impact on the victim, and that act should
not be trivialized. Unfortunately this is characteristic of male rape culture. This concept of a man
taking what he wants, when he wants is so toxic, yet so inherent to rae culture. That is why I
chose to have the male sign completely merge with the letter U . This macho man trope is so
overused that it is basically a given. Therefore, my use of the male sign and its placement have
deliberate meanings that symbolize the prevalence of male rapists and sympathizers (such as
Brock Turner s father), and how closely they are woven into modern rape

Parole Is The Release Of A Convicted Offender
Parole is the release of a convicted offender after he or she has completed a portion of his or her
prison sentence (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). Probation is a form of sentence for violating the law,
which suspends the convicted offender s sentence for a period of time and releases the offender
back into the community under specific conditions (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012).
The start of probation can be linked to England s criminal law. During Henry VIII s time, harsh
sanctions were placed on adults and children for violations of the law that were sometimes minor
(New York CityGovernment, 2015). The upper class members of the society eventually became
dissatisfied with the harsh punishments and became bothered with the change of the ... Show more

Before the mid nineteenth century offenders received determinate sentences in prison (Rank, n.d.).
Determinate sentence is a non negotiable sentence of incarceration for the specific amount of time
as required by statute for that specific crime (U.S. Legal, 2015). Determinate sentencing became
problematic because prisons were often overcrowded, which forced governors to issue pardons or
prison wardens had to randomly release inmates to make room for new intake (Rank, n.d.).
Captain Alexander Maconochie and Sir Walter Crofton are credited for implementing early parole
system in England (Rank, n.d.). Maconochie was governor of an English penal colony at Norfolk
Island (Rank, n.d.). Convicted English offenders were transported to Australia from England and
from Australia to the island; unfortunately, the conditions were extremely bad for the offenders
(Rank, n.d.). Maconochie discontinued determinate sentencing and created a mark system (Rank,
n.d.). Under the mark system , inmates could be granted release from prison based upon their hard
work and good behavior (Rank, n.d.). Inmates earned marks, which were used to buy a reduction in
sentence or goods; unfortunately, inmates had to undergo a variety of stages before they were
released and the climbing through the stages depended on the number of marks received (Rank,
n.d.).
Similar to Maconochie, Sir Walter Crofton was convinced that the prison sentence should not

Comparing Horror In Psycho And Stephen King s The Shining
Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho and Stephen King s The Shining both explore the theme of horror
through the use of the key techniques; characterisation, motifs, symbols and setting. The texts are
about psychologically disturbed protagonists and the events that they are involved in. Psycho was
published in 1960 whereas the Shiningwas published in 1977, both timeworn novels. In Psycho,
Bates is unable to contain the guilt of murdering is mother and therefore, murders those who he
feels sexually attracted to. However, in The Shining, Jack Torrance, an aspiring writer and
recovering alcoholic accepts a position to be caretaker of the Overlook Hotel with his wife and
son Danny. Danny s psychic powers allow him to see the hotel s horrific past, as the snowstorm
leads to the hotel becoming isolated, supernatural forces influence Jack s sanity and lead his family
in great danger. The Shining s Jack Torrance and Psycho s Norman Batesare psychotic murders who
through different circumstances develop their murderous person. Both characters developed their
murderous traits through childhood memories. Jack developed his through multiple bashings from
his father and his alcohol addiction however, Norman developed his through his mothers teachings

Common Grammar Mistakes
While speaking, people might make mistakes about tenses, grammars or structures, especially for
foreigners. The errors would continue to the written language. Hence, in this paper, I will discuss
some grammatical errors of three papers from student paper 3, 5 and 10. The types of paper are
different from each other, such as journal, summary and critique. Since different paper types have
different structures and expressive methods, it is more precise to discover the common mistakes
made by students through different essays. The most common grammar mistakes include
punctuation, spelling, verbs tenses, capitalization, incomplete sentence.
First of all, in the critique paper about Title IX, the most obvious mistake is ... Show more content

Finally, there are some tiny typing errors. The author wants to express reasons by using the phrase
due to , but he mistakenly type do to . Also the author mistakenly type without to with out , sight to
insight . Apart from grammar errors, the author always capitalize the first letter of a word which is
unnecessary, for example, Good intent , Conniff Explains , Male athlete etc.
The second paper is a summary of Preaching to the choir? Not this time . In the introductory part,
the author use the wrong world version. It s relevancy to the students stems , the word relevancy
is a noun phrase, the correct form should be adjectival. Also, there are some punctuation
problems in this paper. The comma is used to connect the subordinate clause and the main
sentence; it seems like that the author neglect the use of comma. For example, Also since all
college students can vote and elections are coming up this article may help inform them of the
past 8 years President s Politics , a comma is supposed to be added right before the word this
where a new sentence begins. Another problem is that when people use however as a linking word,
they need to put a period at end the last sentence or a semicolon between two sentences. It did not
all go according to plain however, Bush received a letter , punctuation is missing in this sentence.
One common mistake is that author uses comma to connect two

Special Education Inclusion
Parents never want to hear that their child has a life altering disability that will require additional
assistance with special services. Roughly thirteen percent of public school students are receiving
special education services. Barbara Boroson, a Scholastic author on Autism Spectrum Disorder,
asks the special educationinclusion population, How has education evolved from exclusion to
inclusion (Boroson, 2017). The issues with special education inclusion have been going unnoticed
for many years and now is the time for a change. Special education inclusion is an issue because it
bears against social and educational values. People all around the world have tried to fix these
issues, but their attempts have been unsuccessful. They have tried making amendments to include
special needs students in general classrooms. They have also tried to create ways to individualize
criteria for each student. These attempted solutions have not created a final answer but led us to
find the perfect way to solve inclusion s problem.
The problem with special education inclusion is involved in the amount of education each student
is receiving. Putting students with special needs into a general education classroom is minimizing
how much they are actually learning. Distractions that come with special needs kids are not
allowing other students to fully participate and listen in class. Teachers can only do so much with
what their school districts allow, which leads to another problem.

Family As An Agent Of Socialization
Why does a person behave the way they do? Why does each person have a distinct personality?
Scientists believe that this has to do with nature and nurture. Meaning, a person s social activities,
and personality are dictated by the traits they have inherited from their parents, but also from
environmental influences. There are four agents of socializationthat have been chosen as the most
impacting on a person s life. These agents of socialization influence how a person will behave,
influence, and think among society. Although the family has been categorized as the most
influential agent of socialization, this is not the only agent that impacts a person life. In this
essay, I will go over how family, peer groups, school, and mass media affect a person from an early
age and the impacts it brings to society.
Notebaly, in societies, the family is the most and the primary agent of socialization on young
children. By interacting with their families, children are able to first learn the values, norms, and
beliefs of society. Socialization in a family setting can be both deliberate and unintended. A father
may teach his children about the importance of telling the truth or being considerate of others.
Likewise, a mother might teach her children the aspects of spending and saving money, these are
deliberate or intended social activities. Usually, unintended social activities have more of an impact
on children than deliberate attempts do. For example, a father might tell its child

Was Nazi Germany A Totalitarian State
Firstly, Nazi Germany is widely recognized as a totalitarian form of state. In fact, when Hitler
had risen to power, there was one strong party system which controlled the whole state and
politics of the country, fact which is considered to be one of the most important features of this
form of state. In addition, as also Max Weber has agreed, Hitler has always been portrayed as a
strong and charismatic leader which helped him to be classified as a totalitarian leader. Most
importantly, he was able to impose his ideology which became the official credo of the state. As a
matter of fact, he was able to make the National Socialism the ideology of the regime and this can
also be shown by what the political scientists Freidrich and Brzezinski said... Show more content on

If Franco s political system in Spain is taken an example the differences between totalitarian and
authoritarian forms of state are explicit. Although Franco, who came to power in the aftermath
of the Civil War, was both chief and head of government, he was not as charismatic as Hitler. For
example, according to the book Charisma and leadership , Franco was not a leader with a strong
charisma and ideology, in fact, his will was just to remain in power and govern a repressive rule
in Spain. In fact, in contrast to Franco, Hitler could persuade people and was able to get
everyone s support in order to get elected. In addition, his abilities in public speaking were very
effective and convinced many people to follow him. In contrast to Hitler s totalitarian form of
state, Franco s one did not have an official ideology and this was not of primary concern to him:
Ideology or political theories were not the primary motivators in Franco s developing of the
institutions that came to be identified with his name. It is therefore clear that Franco s unique and
main goal was to maintain power and in order to do so he contrasted the anti Spain forces from
gaining ascendancy . Although Franco never created a constitution, he made 6 fundamental laws.
One of these raises a very important difference between the totalitarian and authoritarian form of
state. In fact, Franco, in order to gain Spanish

The Canadian Government Has Been Faced With A Decision
The Canadian Government has been faced with a decision that could destroy an already delicate
relationship with the Indigenous Canadians. There have been several pipeline expansion proposals
to increase the production and extraction of oil throughout Canada and the U.S. The primary factor
delaying the Canadian Government from starting these projects is the Indigenous people. With
promises by the newly elected federal Liberal government and the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms, it has outlined the importance of the Indigenous peoplesrights when it comes to natural
resource extraction that affects their land.

There is controversy surrounding this topic. Donald Trump s political stance in Little Rock has
caused violent protests over the Dakota Access Pipeline, it would be in the best interest for the
Canadian Government to avoid a similar outcome. The Canadian Government must choose
between the relationship with Indigenous people and their rights or the profit that would lead
from the expansion of these pipelines. The three policies that will be outlined in this briefing will
be; The Canadian Government could move freely to approve the pipelines, without input or
consideration of Indigenous rights. They could negotiate with the Indigenous groups until both
parties are satisfied. Lastly, the Canadian Government could decline the proposals of the
pipelines because in a cost benefit analysis the negative impacts of the pipelines, could outweigh
financial gain. Option 1 One of the policies the Canadian Government could pursue is to move
forward and approve the pipeline expansions regardless of the Indigenous peoples perspective.
These pipelines would connect the oil sands in Alberta to markets globally which would lead to
economic growth. With these pipelines approved, it would mean greater exports. The Canadian
economy would profit as it would create jobs and

Christian Belief System
Belief systems is in some way apart of one s religion form or other has been an essential element in
the life and culture of humankind throughout the ages, going back far beyond the threshold of
history. As a Christian I have always expressed a need to understand natural phenomenon regarding
the way of life and what happens once we die. These needs resulted in the development of a variety
of religions and philosophies that can be found throughout the world today.. However, Christianity
which evolved from Judaism, there are certain concepts that these two religions share. For example,
both Jews and Christians subscribe to the Ten Commandments found in the Book of Exodus. In
addition, prophecies of Jewish prophets contained in several books of the Old Testament stated that
Godwould send a savior, or messiah, to the people of Israel. While Judaism clearly states that...

There is no underlying belief structure for most people, just a bunch of random opinions. In
fact, many simply answer survey questions as though they are flipping a coin.Though some
political sophisticates do structure their opinions in a larger ideological framework, such
structure is rare. This level of political sophistication (one s level of conceptualization ) is
correlated positively with the respondent s level of education, degree of political involvement,
and amount of political information. Most people do not have strong belief systems; that is,
they do not think ideologically. Most people do not interpret politics through an ideological lens.

dense?
Prior to completing this lab I believed the nail would be more dense than the stopper. After
performing the experiment, the iron nail contains more particles by volume than the rubber stopper
does.
Part IV
10. The accepted value for the density of aluminum is 2.699 g/cm3. Using this density and the
masses of your two samples of aluminum foil, calculate the volume of aluminum in each sample:
the regular vs. the heavy duty. (Note: You will have to use a bit of algebra and the formula D = m
/v for this calculation!) You must show all your work. (15 pts)
Regular Aluminum Foil:
2.699 g/cm3=0.67g/volume
2.699 g/cm3 x 0.67g= volume
Volume= 1.81 cm3
Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil:
2.699 g/cm3=0.97g/volume
2.699g/cm3 x 0.97g=volume
Volume= 2.62 cm3
11. Using the volume(s) you just calculated for regular vs. heavy duty samples as well as your
dimensional measurements (length and width in cm) from Part IV of this experiment, calculate
the height, or thickness, of each sample of aluminum using the formula V = l x w x h. In the
formula, V stands for volume, l for length, w for width, and h for height. Once again, you will
have to use your algebraic skills to manipulate the formula, to solve for height. You must show all

  • 2. Figurative Language In Ozymandias Can one person truly immortalize himself? This is a question most people are often plagued with. Although one s body is mortal, Ozymandias, written by Shelley, conveys the truth of immortality. The poem is about a traveler telling a story about an Egyptian pharaoh, Ozymandias, and his statue. In the poem, a statue of Ozymandias is described by the author as crumbled and scarcely left. Even though he was successful in his time period, his legacy could not last. Therefore, no matter how much power one holds, his work will eventually be forgotten to all and left in the past. Nothing truly can remain throughout all of time: everything one built will eventually be destroyed by time. The idea that power is transient is portrayed through Shelley s use of irony, symbolism, and figurative language. Irony is extremely prevalent in this poem, contrasting power and mortality. Throughout this piece, the author describes Ozymandias as a ruthless and powerful Egyptian ruler, but continually relates back to the current state of his achievements. For instance, the engraving on Ozymandias s statue states, My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Sarah Kelley: good title Sarah Kelley: citation needed Labas 2 The author dictates that Ozymandias was attempting for his statue to be a symbol of strength. This is evident through how he views himself, as the King of Kings , and how he tells people that view the statue that they must look at everything he has accomplished and cower before his power. However, there is nothing left of his work, except for his crumbling statue and his kingdom of ruins. This use of irony strengthens the idea that power is transient because Ozymandias was extremely feared and he held a massive amount of authority. Nevertheless, all that he succeeded in building played victim to the cruel hands of time. The irony transforms the tone of the poem from prideful to pitiful. Furthermore, symbolism plays a huge part in this poem. One of the main symbols in this piece was the sand. Shelley mentions the sand multiple times to draw emphasis to it, and pairs it with words such as stretch and level . These words pertain to time, and one can assume the sand is referring ... • 3. Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress Analysis Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie is a novel about two boys, a narrator and Luo, who are undergoing re education in the mountains amidst the cultural revolution in communist China. Sijie showcases the harsh reality of re education, and how certain events change the way the two boys think and behave. This passage focuses on the narrator, as he takes advantage of an opportunity to inflict painon the village headman while he is having a tooth removed. The transition from the narrator s fear and discomfort at the beginning of the passage to outright vindictiveness by the end reveals his resentment toward re education. In lines 1 15, the narrator begins the operation, revealing the narrator s anxiety and discomfort. Sijie used words like trepidation and brace to describe the narrator s feelings as the procedure began. This anticipative diction highlights the apprehension the narrator feels, reinforcing how uncomfortable and afraid he feels of the events to follow. The tension in the scene builds through the use of alliteration. The movement of the drill is described as a relentless rhythm, emphasizing the narrator s lack of control during his assignment. Additionally, to emphasize the perilous nature of the narrator s situation, words like juddered, and trembled were used to describe the drill. The description mirrors the narrator s apprehension from the beginning of the passage, showing that the drill is, in essence, an extension of the narrator. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It should be recognized that some who study these topics are well intentioned, but they are a minority. These seemingly harmless fields of study are actually the culprits behind the destruction of Native American Under the guise of historically beneficial actions, archaeologists excavated skeletons at an alarming rate. In 1988 with the publication of an article from the American Museum of Natural History in New York, the museum found that it possessed 25,000 skeletons or parts of skeletons (Bieder 236). It was estimated by the Native American Rights Fund that including other institutional holdings, there were about 600,000 skeletons that needed to be repatriated (Bolz 71). With a number that large it is often easy to forget that these are the remains of human beings. The numbers were and will always be uncertain, but such an undoubtedly high number caused a wave of surprise in and out of First Nations communities. Influence of public opinion should not go unacknowledged in the discussion of repatriation. While American Indian people were well aware of the injustices their community faced, repatriation grew into a movement on a larger scale during the 1970s. Although the consequences are harsh, the chances of getting caught with the act are so slim because there are so many people sharing smaller amounts of files to other peers. It seems to be that this type of change of listening and obtaining music is inevitable because there are just so many benefits that outweigh the negative aspects. The music industry is changing in the respect that single songs and playlists are dominating entire albums. In other words, more people prefer to purchase individual songs by other artists rather than purchasing entire albums. What made this possible was the creation of iTunes and its music store, but of course an iPod is necessary with the two. With the iTunes music store, one has the option to either buy an entire album, typically for $9.99, or purchase individual songs for $.99 each. Listeners can also preview the songs up to ninety seconds, which can either make or break the decision to buy the song or album. Is it a green, slimy monster, or one of its own kind...human? Horror is an exhilarating genre for all audiences to read. The Tell Tale Heart is about a diseased man who murders his employer for having a paranoid eye. In the story The Tell Tale Heart , by Edgar Allen Poe, the three elements of horror: monster, poor choices, and advanced knowledge are applied very well. One of the first elements of horror in The Tell Tale Heart is monster. Monster is a creature or human, usually a character, they have a history and have developed as a character over a period time. Most of the time, they torment other characters in the story. The narrator of The Tell Tale Heart is the monster. In the story, the narrator explains that, In an instant I dragged him to... If the narrator had not made this decision to kill the man, this whole story would have stopped and been boring. Lastly, the narrator stated, NOw you may think that I drew back but no (Poe, 297). He looks at the army and warfare in terms of men, technology, valour and victory (Hanson 68). He also discusses the west?s militarism tradition. A tradition supports mobilization of citizen soldiers and animating them with principles of collective endeavor. According to Victor Hanson, it is the west?s tradition that has helped them develop and maintain a strong military power. Hanson struggles to recreate nine ?landmark? episodes of combat through which the west gradually started their rise to the top. In this approach, three classical period episodes are depicted to show the situational onset of the rise of the west as Salamis, Cannae and Gaugamela. Hanson depicts these battles to have manifested particular western lethal military machinery. Moreover, the chronology is given a vivid progression when the author depicts that gradual spread of the western style war machinery through three additional battles as Tenochtitlan, Poitiers and Lepanto. The author eventually examined the gradual mechanism of battle spread from Europe into the west. The distinct military style of invincibility is further traced through Midway, Rorke?s Drift and Tet. John Lynn, on the other hand, tries to conceptualize the relationship between practical dimensions of war and cultural factors. Although he tries to undermine Victor Hanson?s idea of war, he discusses the realities of combat and discourse of war based on social and political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Beatles Music 109 The Beatles Katherine McGreevy Creative Written Paper In learning about The Beatles over the past few months, I have gained great appreciation for them as a band. It was a difficult task to choose just three songs to write about, however I chose the three songs I enjoyed most. They are each love songs from a different era of The Beatles work throughout their years. I Should Have Known Better , Michelle , and Dear Prudence have all left great impressions on me. This song was one of many inspired by Bob Dylan as we learned he left quite the impression on the Beatles, especially Lennon. This inspiration led Lennon to write more meaningful lyrics (Benitez, 2016). It is easy to understand why this song was popular reaching the top Billboard charts at number 53 as Lennon s harmonica playing skills are capturing (Wikipedia, 2016). The shift in the number of minority students graduating has also affected the diversity of people in the workplace. Carnevale further explains that the issue is not particularly with the students but the system that does not support them. The True Character of Isabella in Measure for Measure Some critics of Shakespeare s play, Measure for Measure, judge Isabella as a narrow minded but passionate girl afflicted with an irrational terror of sex (Barton, 546), a young, immature woman demonstrating moral absurdity and cruelty (Nicholls, 478), whose actions are scarcely defensible. A classmate of mine asked, Why doesn t Isabella just sleep with Angelo? What s the big deal? Now I imagine that those adjectives surprise you, but let me move through her first scene, taking into account the choices our director Ronnie Larson, the other actors and I made. This is the story written by Giles Bugaisliskis where he tells us about the beginnings of this historic hoteland how their first owners had an idea and wanted to make it successful. The idea: to have a chain of hotels along the rail road with a new corporate look. (Bugaisliskis) The owners seemed to have known what the public wanted and they set out to shape the hotel industry. Fast forward to today where the hotel industry is highly competitive and the inventory of hotels and resorts is as large as the many types of customers that they attempt to serve. In the counterpart of this critique, we have an article by Diana Foris, Cristina Nicolau and Tiberiu Foris about the future trends in the tourism in relationship to education and youth. What do young people want, where do they want to spend their money, and how does this younger crowd dictate the way hotels and resorthave to accommodate and adapt to the new century big spenders (Foris, Nicolau, Foris). There are various factors that determine the effectiveness of the imposition of a specific subsidy. Ideally, the size of the specific subsidy is to be equivalent to the spill over benefits. However, the extent of spill over benefits cannot be accurately measured. Therefore the coincidence of marginal private cost curve and the marginal social cost curve is improbable. The advantage of a specific subsidy is a greater quantity of nanny services can be produced, achieving social optimum, at a relatively lower price. There are low socioeconomic status consumers with low levels of income and poverty. Conscious or oblivious of the spill over benefits in the consumption of nanny services, they are financially incapable to afford nanny services and are excluded in the marginal private benefit curve. Therefore a specific subsidy, is inclusive of the quantity demanded from low socioeconomic status consumers, encouraging and enabling them to consume merit goods. Most other people probably rank other human beings as their highest sexual interest.? Further evidence of the relation between pornography and crime is seen when an adult bookstore is closed; the crime rate in the surrounding areas falls significantly. Surges of farmers from the South and Midwest joined the Alliance movement in the year 1886, as tenancy rates were the highest in those regions. Farmers were drawn to the Alliance because its goals aligned with their livelihoods. The Alliance were advocates of government regulated transportation, (at the time railroads could charge what over they chose to charge from day to day, and for farmers shipping crops trains were the only way of getting their goods to the North, and therefore the only way for farmers to make a living). • 37. Case Analysis Of Ritter V. Auntie Ruth s Furry Friends Case Law Analysis Case Summary In a perfect world, there would be no need for laws protecting people from employment discrimination; however, in this often unjust world, discrimination continues. Hence, federal and state protections exist for certain groups of people sharing common characteristics. Some of these protected classes are race, religion or creed, gender, and disability (EEOC, 2015). In the legal case of Ritter v. Auntie Ruth s Furry Friends (ARFF), Ritter claimed she became the target of age discrimination after the business was sold to two people under the age of thrty. The following is an overview of the case that highlights how ignorance of or willful disregard of the rights of others can be a costly mistake. While laws are unlikely to change the minds of those who seek to discriminate, those breaking the law must be held accountable. Case Summary In the above referenced case, Ritter, the appellant, began her employment as the general manager at the boarding kennel approximately one year prior to the sale of the business. In 2012, the business changed ownership to Annie Haubenhofer and Mike McKinley. Upon taking ownership, they required all current employees to reapply for their jobs. AARF rehired all of the existing employees, including Ritter, subject to a 90 day probationary period. The Disconnection Between Aurora And Felicia The character most important to me is Felicia, Aurora s mom, because she is like the earth that tries to convince Aurora that Echo Park is part of her life, because it s their home. In chapter 2, the disconnection between Aurora and Felicia originates with the death of Alma. Alma dies, when it was supposed to be Aurora the one that should have died. The only thing that saved her was not following Felicia s orders, so she moved and didn t receive the bullet that killed Alma. In chapter 8, the connection that is developed between her and Aurora shows that Aurora could come back to Echo Park. Felicia s decision of giving her dog, Blackjack, to Aurora and making her accept that it is her dog now, represents her accepting that Echo Park is her home. Through this act, Felicia s intentions of making Aurora realize that Echo Park is part of her identity and her home is proven. Therefore, when the dog escapes and gets lost, she sends Aurora to find it as if she sends her to realize that Echo Park is her home. Through her journey of finding the dog, Aurora finds herself learning what Echo Park has become from what she remembers. This shows that Felicia is the earth because she never left Echo Park and she wanted her daughter to not leave it either. She wanted Aurora to not forget where her real home is, which identifies her and makes her part of Echo Park too. I think Felicia s character is important to the novel and the realization of Aurora towards Echo Park being her home. I believe we need to remember from where we come and be proud of our roots because that is what identifies us and makes us unique. It is not wrong to want to succeed in life like Aurora wanted to, but we also need to know and accept ourselves, which includes our background and history. In Willa Cather s Neighbor Rosicky , the protagonist is hardworking, hospitable, and generous. The main character, Anton Rosicky, is a hardworking individual, as indicated by the following mentioned by Dr. Burleigh: ...you ve [that is, Anton Rosicky] always worked hard, and your heart s tired. You ve got to be careful from now on, and you can t do heavy work anymore (Cather, 1928, p. 1). The lines clearly illustrates that Anton Rosicky is someone who is often found working hard on his farm. In addition to that, it appears as though he loves to work hard. Even after the doctor advised Anton not do any strenuous work in the fields, the protagonist still asked Dr. Burleigh if he could be allowed to shell corn. The doctor immediately turned down his request. Rosicky s question reveals that he is reluctant to give up his farm work. It, therefore, suggests that he enjoys the work of being a farmer. Anton Rosicky is also a hospitable individual. This is demonstrated by the following lines: He [that is, Dr. Burleigh] did not know another farm house where a man could get such a warm welcome, and such good strong coffee with rich cream (Cather, 1928, p. 3). The above lines indicate that Rosicky would go beyond what was expected of him to make his guests stay at him home comfortable. Furthermore, it appears as if the welcoming or inviting attitude that Rosicky had was transferred to the rest of his household. For example, the narrator describes how the long table , which was prepared by Anton s wife and daughter, was covered with a bright oilcloth , and also set out with dishes waiting for the doctor (Cather, 1928, p. 3). Anton s wife also made the kitchen full of the smell of coffee , hot biscuit , and sausage (Cather, 1928, p. 3). Moreover, Anton s sons took Dr. Burleigh s fur coat from off his back before hanging it up and helped to put his horse away (Cather, 1928, p. 3). This could be the understatement of the year! Those 20 minutes of action made a huge and permanent impact on the victim, and that act should not be trivialized. Meaning, a person s social activities, and personality are dictated by the traits they have inherited from their parents, but also from environmental influences. There are four agents of socializationthat have been chosen as the most impacting on a person s life. These agents of socialization influence how a person will behave, influence, and think among society. Although the family has been categorized as the most influential agent of socialization, this is not the only agent that impacts a person life. In this essay, I will go over how family, peer groups, school, and mass media affect a person from an early age and the impacts it brings to society. Notebaly, in societies, the family is the most and the primary agent of socialization on young children. By interacting with their families, children are able to first learn the values, norms, and beliefs of society. Socialization in a family setting can be both deliberate and unintended. A father may teach his children about the importance of telling the truth or being considerate of others. In fact, many simply answer survey questions as though they are flipping a coin.Though some political sophisticates do structure their opinions in a larger ideological framework, such structure is rare. This level of political sophistication (one s level of conceptualization ) is correlated positively with the respondent s level of education, degree of political involvement, and amount of political information. Most people do not have strong belief systems; that is, they do not think ideologically. Most people do not interpret politics through an ideological lens. I have always observe and was curious about the religion Islam which translated from Arabic mean to submit to the will of allah, is the youngest of the world s major religions. Under Mohammed s leadership, the basic teachings of Islam were established, which are known as the Five Pillars of Islam. Every Muslim is expected to follow these rules in order to lead an ethical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now that you know which is more dense, what must be true of the particles that make it more dense? Prior to completing this lab I believed the nail would be more dense than the stopper. After performing the experiment, the iron nail contains more particles by volume than the rubber stopper does. Part IV 10. The accepted value for the density of aluminum is 2.699 g/cm3. Using this density and the masses of your two samples of aluminum foil, calculate the volume of aluminum in each sample: the regular vs. the heavy duty. (Note: You will have to use a bit of algebra and the formula D = m /v for this calculation!) You must show all your work. (15 pts) Regular Aluminum Foil: 2.699 g/cm3=0.67g/volume 2.699 g/cm3 x 0.67g= volume Volume= 1.81 cm3
  • 54. Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil: 2.699 g/cm3=0.97g/volume 2.699g/cm3 x 0.97g=volume Volume= 2.62 cm3 11. Using the volume(s) you just calculated for regular vs. heavy duty samples as well as your dimensional measurements (length and width in cm) from Part IV of this experiment, calculate the height, or thickness, of each sample of aluminum using the formula V = l x w x h. In the formula, V stands for volume, l for length, w for width, and h for height. Once again, you will have to use your algebraic skills to manipulate the formula, to solve for height. You must show all your work. (15 pts) Regular Aluminum Foil: 1.81 cm3= 15.03 cm x ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
