Essay about The Theory of Dark Flow
Imagine a mystical, invisible influential power, pulling our galaxy far, far away from where it
should be. Imagine the milky way being pulled millions and millions of km away. The planets
pulled far apart from each other. This would ensure a certain demise of current life forms, forever
changing our world. This is the effect of dark flow. Fortunately this appears to be occurring in
distant galaxies, however observations have concluding our galaxyis too being pulled away in a
specific direction. This highlights the essentiality of more research being conducted upon this
unexplained force.
Good Morning class, today my chosen topic is the term dark flow.
Now dark flow is a basically a term used to explain astronomical observations, ... Show more

Therefore this formula states that the two galaxy clusters force of gravity between them should
remain proportional when divided their combined masses and squaring the distance between the
galaxy clusters from their centre point. When analysing the data results, this is shown to be
inaccurate, the gravitational force not remaining inversely proportional, instead appearing as too
little for the force that is being observably exuded. Therefore, scientists have decided upon alternate
explanations for where the additional force is coming from, causing the galaxy clusters accelerated
movement. (Newtons Law of Universal Gravity, 2001).
So far there are two separate theories explaining the data showing dark flow . The first analysis of
this data was conducted in 2008, by Alexa Kashlinsky of NASA s Goddard Space Flight centre
and his team. The acceleration trend observed when analysis was conducted upon a satellites image
of the cosmic microwave background. Cosmic microwave background meaning defined as radiation
that leaked outwards into the universe after the big bang. Abnormal movement was investigated
among the motion of the galaxies speed, in comparison to the radiation. It was found to not match
up, leading to the discovery of dark flow, and the differing theories to explain it. The first theory
suggests that chunks of matter were accelerated

Art of Love
The Art of Love
Framing for a Misogynist
The poetry of Ovid exemplified in The Art of Love is one of the only examples of the
contemporary social behavior exhibited during the time of Rome. Ovid writes about social
activities, proper style, women, and how to obtain them. Through Ovid s perspective, there are
three different ways to consider a woman. These three views include relating a woman to a game, a
beautiful treasure, and as a means to assert social status. Comparatively, Andreas Capellanuswrites
in a way that makes women seem respected, worthy and as something to a man would willingly
devote his life to. Both men have a clear fascination with women and their relationship to men.
However, their distinct writing styles cause ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The view Ovid takes on women is not always clear. In some passages he has a violent perspective
on women. Ovid writes about how he easily could have taken advantage of women, displaying a
negative viewpoint of ownership towards females. Similarly he says never a virgin there was
free from the lust of a hand , which shows that men desire women, and a virgin is held as a high
prize, one that is worth committing the act of adultery for (Art 1. 89 126). On the other end,
Capellanus views the trophy of virginity as futile and counters that while you know some other
man is enjoying the embraces of your beloved, this will make you begin to value her solaces all the
more (2.2, 3). Furthermore, he makes the argument against adultery, again opposing the views of
Ovid. Capellanus explains his argument in detail by stating that a man in love is adorned with the
virtue of chastity, because he who shines with the light of one love can hardly think of embracing
another woman, even a beautiful one (1.4, 2).
Contrary to many men who believe that a man must be strong and not show a woman his
tenderness, Ovid shares his heart, saying, do not think it a shame to suffer her blows or her curses;
do not think it a shame, stooping, to kiss her feet (Art 2. 522 553) . This is simply an outstanding
statement, as it serves to show the true emotion and character of Ovid. This statement cannot be
taken lightly

How Digital Manipulation Has Changed Photography
How digital manipulation has changed photography? Photography not only makes people
remember good things, but also helps people record every day. According to Wheeler s phototruth
and photofiction , Photographs are always manipulated in many ways. For example, computer
technology and smart phone can fix the pictures in this new century. First, people can use an app
called Photoshop which can fake pictures easily. Photoshop has great features that can add
everything into the picture wherever users want. Secondly, people use some softwares to make
pictures more beautiful. In addition, Wheeler also gives us example in the Keeneth Brower s
article. He told about faked nature photos, such as New York daily news which showed President

Favorite Moments Research Paper
Some of my favorite moments in the past three years have been at summer camps. First two at
Camp Foster in Okoboji, Iowa; the third at Camp Chief Ouray in Colorado. It s difficult to pick
one or two of my favorite moments from these three years, but one thing is certain, I learned
more from my three years working with kids than any life experiences thus far. People often ask
me, why do you enjoy working with kids? The best answer I can think of is simple. I love
working with kids because it s challenging. The challenge is twofold, kids are in constant need of
justification, and kids push you to think creatively. Anyone that has experience with kids knows
a child s favorite question is why? Why is it their favorite? (See what I did there?) It s their
favorite question because their actions need justification. If you are unable to provide adequate
justification and purpose for doing a task, good luck! Every camp counselor, parent, and teacher
knows the worst way to respond to a question is because I said so . This constant desire for
justification provides you with plenty of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They try to use an arithmetic approach. If you know what the problem is, you can solve for x.
This process is very logical and systematic. Most adults can look at the facts and solve
systematically. When kids look at a problem they see the facts and challenge the intellectual
basis for these assumptions. They think, why do we need to do it that way? Is there another
way we can achieve the same end? In other words, they look at the math problem and say, why
can t we change the variables? For kids, everything is in play. I believe our faith, along with
many other areas, requires us to be childlike. It seems as if we always fall short. We need more of
it! We need to look at problems, identify the variables, justify the variables, change the variables
with poor justification, and

Essay on Art from Baroque Period Through the Postmodern Era
Art from Baroque Period through the Postmodern Era
Renaissance art history began as civic history; it was an expression of civic pride. The first such
history was Filippo Villani s De origine civitatis Florentiae et eiusdem famosis civibus, written
about 1381 82. Florentine artists revived an art that was almost dead, Villani asserts, just as Dante
had restored poetry after its decline in the Middle Ages. The revival was begun by Cimabue and
completed by Giotto, who equalled the ancient painters in fame and even surpassed them in skill
and talent. After Giotto came his followers, Stefano, Taddeo Gaddi, and Maso, uomini illustri all,
who, together with notable jurists, poets, musicians, theologians, physicians, orators, and others,
made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While rare for being texts on art, they are of a type, however, that was common in Renaissance
literature. They belong to a genre or category in which are found some of the most characteristic
texts of Renaissance humanism. Other of the books in this category are by such writers as Bruni,
Salutati, and Manetti, books with which all students of the Renaissance are familiar. They treat
broad moral and philosophical issues, but, as in the accounts of visual art, only insofar as they
concern the city of Florence. And scholars reasonably have asked why there was such a
preoccupation with Florence at this time. One of those who did so was Hans Baron and his answer
has been at the center of discussions of this question since the 1950s.
Baron linked the focus on Florence during the years around 1400 to a struggle over Florentine
independence that began in 1390 with a declaration of war by Milan and ended only in 1454,
when Milan accepted the independent status of the Florentine Republic. These events, he proposed,
explain the direction taken by Florentine political speculation at this time, particularly the stress on
republican ideals of liberty and civic involvement; they gave rise to a distinctive type of humanism,
rooted in a new philosophy of political engagement and active life, and devoted to the celebration
of Florence s republican liberties.
Bruni was responding not to recent events in Florence, came the rejoinder, but

Culture Changes During The Edo Period
Culture Changes during the Edo Period
The Edo Period in Japan (1600 1868) was ruled by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu who was appointed
by the Emperor. During this time, many changes happened to promote stability among the people
and Japan. Early The Shogun adoptive a system which was later called Neo Confucianism based on
Confucianism (From China). This system stressed the importance of morals, education and
hierarchical order in the government and society (Japan Guide.com).The Shogun needed to create
peace and by using segregation, there were four types of divisions during the Edo period. First at the
top was the Shogun and Samurai, they created structure and peace among the domains. Second in
line was the peasants because without them the most important need would not be filled which
was food. Artisans were third in line being they added some value for the reason that they
produced goods like swords for the Samurai, artwork, music, and painting/printing. Last on the list
of importance was the merchants. Merchants made money off people and therefor held no value to
the Shogun. Due to a closed door policy that was enforced by the Shogun hardly anything came
into Japan without permission during the Edo period. The Shogun also limited trade with other
Western Nations and prevented Japan from trading. For over 200 years Japan has little to do with
trade outside with the exception of a Dutch post in Nagasaki and maintaining relations with China
and a post in Pusan where

The Courtroom Of The Courthouse
The courthouse I visited was not one of the largest courthouses but still a good choice for me at
least. South Regional Courthouse which is located on 3550 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, FL
33021. Upon Entering the courthouse, I had no idea where to find criminal courts so I went up
to the front desk and asked where to go. After explaining I m a student and I don t have to be in
court today they then advised to to go to two rooms. Courtroom 210 and 230 so I decided to
walk directly into 210. Upon entering I noticed the estranged aroma of a courtroom and the many
people sitting down waiting to be preceded upon. They were 2 officers in the front which didn t
look too happy but seems like they were used to this by now. I had no idea what criminal charges I
was about to encounter but I found a seat in the back and started to listen.
Judge Claudia Robinson was preceding and she was not the judge you would kind of expect to see.
Mid 40 s but in good shape. A lot like Judge Judybut younger. She has a way of doing things as I
continued to listen I came to find out. Many people there were there for leaving the scene of an
accident, marijuana possession, disorderly conduct. They all were facing jail time but the judge
was really nice and pretty much offered every single person there a deal. Some people were there
because they missed court and had to come back but the judge could not rule out a conviction or a
deal because apparently when you miss court you have to pay a fine. She gave

St. Augustine Body
In his Confessions, St. Augustine describes his intellectual progression from loving the beauty of
worldly creations to aspiring to the true beauty of God. His account of his anagogical ascent
parallels a similar intellectual ascent by Socrates in Plato s Symposium. The two ascents are
comparable in that the protagonists both seek to glimpse and experience the ultimate beauty of the
universe, but differ because St. Augustine defines Godas the source of all beauty, whereas Plato
distinguishes between the gods and the ideal form of Beauty. Furthermore, St. Augustine proposes
that the books of the Platonists are ultimately deficient in providing spiritual fulfillment because
they do not acknowledge the importance of Jesus Christ, the incarnation... Show more content on

7.23). St. Augustine is only able to understand the true beauty of God for a brief second because he
is weighed down by his body. His main limitation of the body is his sexual desires, which also
represents the weakening of the will, derived from his mortality. St. Augustine is aware that he
must transcend beyond his sexual desires in order to sustain the true vision of God, but cannot do
so for an uninterrupted period of time. St. Augustine s anagogical ascent as described in his
Confessions, begins with him questioning his previous assumptions about the physical beauty of
bodies. He questions the truth in these beliefs, and describes that the unchangeable and authentic
eternity of truth transcends my mutable mind (Conf. 7.23). St. Augustine claims his judgements
about the beauty of bodies are transient and are subject to change as his ideas develop. He states
that he cannot possibly claim beauty to be one thing, because his idea of beauty and what is
beautiful itself changes. There is only one inalterable definition of true beauty, which is God, and
St. Augustine cannot label that beauty with his mind which is so prone to change and the
deterioration of mortality. This leads him to view not the beauty of

The Sheep Revolution in John UpdikeВґs A P
At first glance, A P written by John Updike, looks like a funny, slangy, youthful story about a
young, nineteen year old boy, Sammy, who has the normal problems that come along with his age
group; abhorrence for his job, talking despondently about the older generation, and dreaming
about girls he sees in the store. However, when people look at the history of the 1960 s, they find
it shows a change in American social values and morals. Furthermore, the revolution of multiple
groups of minorities through the civil rights movement, such as women, gays, and African
Americans just to name a few who were at the forefront of issues during the 1960 s. Also, there
was a revolt caused from the distrust of politicians, and from the 1950 s family... Show more content

One of the biggest social groups that had some of the major impacts during the 1960 s were the
youths in America, consisting of late teens to the late twenties. However, others that fell into
that age group had already cemented their future with earlier choices in their lives. For example,
the checker that worked next to Sammy, his name was Stokesie, a young twenty two year old
who was already married with two children. Stokesie also holds the belief that he will become
store manager someday, which fit the mold of the start from the bottom and only with hard
work can one move up style of the out dated ideologies of the past decade. Stokesie represents
everything from the 1950 s suburbiaism that the youth revolution of the 1960 s was against.
Many have argued that this story has a feminist undertone to the main idea. Conceding, that
going into public is a bit bold, especially for the time period shows somewhat of a revolt by the
girls. Although, someone can contend that if a girl or girls went into a grocery store in a bikini
during today s time, it would result in the same sort of reaction. One can also argue that the story
is condescending toward women and shows them in a negative light. Especially, from the main
character Sammy, with his description of the girls, also the nick names he gives the three girls like
Plaid, Big Tall Goony Goony, and Queenie. Moreover, the assumptions about how a girls

Cultural Changes In Rear Window
As our culture changes so do the films we see. If we look at films and their remakes decades
later, it is easy to see the changes in our culture. Between the time of the film Rear Window was
released in 1954, under direction of Alfred Hitchcock, and the 2007 film Disturbia, directed by
D.J. Caruso, our country has experienced many cultural changes over those 53 years we have
seen an increase in violence, huge advancement in technology, and the increased use of
sexuality, because of the media coverage of the Vietnam War, the inventing of the microchip
and computer, and the end of the Hays Code in 1968. In Rear Window and Disturbia, both Jeff,
played by James Stewart in Rear Window and Kale, played by Shia Lebeouf in Disturbia have
been forced to remain indoors, and because of extreme boredom they have taken to spying on
their neighbors to pass the time. While observing their neighbors they see something strange from
one of the men in their neighborhood. Kale and Jeff become convinced that their neighbor is a
killer, played by David Morse in Disturbia and Raymond Burr in Rear Window. They also
convince their friends of this. They end up trying to find a way to obtain evidence to use against the
suspected killer. They become obsessed with trying to catch the killer in the act, until they realize

If possible, wet the end first to cool it off. When you put the cigarette into the ashtray, make sure
that it is completely in and stable so it won t fall out and onto something that could catch on fire.
Don t overload outlets. If you can, unplug anything that you re not using to help clear some outlet
space. If you do have to have electronics plugged in, distribute them instead of putting them all into
one outlet.
Expert Insight * Run out of the house immediately if there is a fire. Don t run around trying to
grab valuables or other items, and absolutely don t run back in to get anything. Get to your
neighbors house to call 911.
Have multiple escape routes out of your home. If you don t plan one and there is an emergency,
you may get disoriented on where you should go. Having multiple plans set up could help you to
get out alive.
Stop, drop and roll if your clothes catch on fire. Running will only make the situation worse.
Misconceptions
* Many people think that a fire won t ever happen to them, especially in their own homes, but
there is always that chance even if you don t want to acknowledge it. Instead of being in doubt
that it will ever happen, you re better off taking precautions just in case. If a fire were to happen, it
s better to be prepared instead of being caught off guard

Characteristics Of A Freshwater Lake
Figure 1. The zones of a freshwater lake (Smith and Smith 2001).
Within the lentic ecosystems, temperature plays a crucial role. Lake temperatures does not variate
drastically, but does change gradually with every season of the year. Summer, the thermic
stratification of lakes, can be studied in different layers (Figure 2). The superior level of a lake that
is terminally stratified, is known to be epilimnion, which is the warmer part of the fresh water body.
This water remains in the superior part because as the water gets warmer, the light of the sun
becomes clearer than the dense water downward. The metalimnion is the known layer that would
be ubicated beneath. This layer is defined by the thermocline where the temperature slightly
decreases. In this phase, the temperature decreases 1 В°C for every single meter that descends.
Hypolimnion would be the last stratified layer in a lake. This deep and cutoff from sources of air.
(Korstad 2017)
Another crucial component is the description of the characteristics of a lake is to monitor the
quantity of oxygen and carbon dioxide to various depths. There is a reciprocal relation that exists
between these two elements when they are compared to the depth of a lake (Figure 2) (Korstad
2017). A lake has the capacity top adhere oxygen by absorption or photosynthesis. The levels high
oxygen is necessary to maintain the necessary nutrients inside the water, and at the same time
providing a source food to all fishes. It is common to see

Climate Change And Weather Change
Recently, climate change has been a major topic of discussion. As the world decides what actions
should be taken to help with the changing climate, severe weather has increased over the past few
years. Several factors has created a change in climate but there have been countless effects to Earth
because of climate changeand severe weatheris one of those effects. In fact, the first decade of this
century (2001 2010) was the hottest decade recorded since reliable records began in the late 1800s
(Union of Concerned Scientist, n.d.). The Earth is not only stronger storms such as Hurricane Ivan,
Super Typhoon Haiyan, Joplin, MO tornado and tornado super outbreaks, but there also have been
severe droughts as well. Climate change is effecting extreme weather because the climate has been
changing over the years causing the waters and Earth to become warmer, which is causing extreme
weather to become stronger and more severe. Extreme weather can include storms and floods,
temperature extremes, droughts and habitat shifting alteration (The Open Standards, n.d.).
According to The Open Standards, storms and floods includes thunderstorms, tropical storms,
hurricanes and cyclones, tornadoes, hailstorms, ice storms and blizzards, dust storms and erosions
of the beaches. Temperature extremes are heat waves, cold spells, oceanic temperature changes
and disappearance of glaciers/sea ice. The Open Standards also states that droughts are severe lack

Diarrheal Research Paper
Diarrheal is an intestinal disorder in which an individual is induced to frequently release fecal.
This consistent fluid loss leads to dehydration and nutrient loss. If an individual is not able to
replace the loss in due amount of time, this can eventually lead to death. Nevertheless, although it
may seem diarrheal (the constant release of fecal) is the cause of painful effects, it is not. Rather
diarrhea is a mechanism the body uses to get rid of the harmful bacteria(pathogen) inside the body.
The pathogen is typically presented in the water and food one consumes, and is injected in the
body. This infection known as amoebiasis is most prevalent in developing countries, because water
sanitation may not be fully adhered to be taken action for. It is estimated that there are 50,000,000

Malcolm X and The Shakespearean Tragic heroes
Aristotle defines a tragic hero as good but flawed, must be aristocratic, must be believable, and must
behave consistently. Aristotle. The Muslim leader Malcolm Xcan be compared to such tragic
heroes such as Othello and Hamlet. Malcolm s life and his personality have similar traits from
both of the famous Shakespearean heroes. In this paper we will look deeper into the life of
Malcolm X and find the similarities between him and the tragic heroes, also we will prove that
Malcolm X can also be referred to as one of the great tragic heroes. Malcolm X was born Malcolm
Little. He grew up in the streets of Boston and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To understand the phrase tragic flaw we can take it as Aristotle had stated it The tragic flaw is the
most important part of the hero and the events that occur in the work is a reflection of that flaw. В–
Aristotle. So just as in the case of Othello, Malcolm s tragic flaw is gullibility. Many people
because of their personal magnetism respect both these men. Malcolm is highly respected by
many because of his ability to get results and by the way he is able to gain followers with his
rhetoric. Othello is revered because of his awesome military genius. Malcolm and Othello both
have very high self confidence, which is shown by the way Malcolm argues beliefs and in the
way Othello justifies his marriage to Desdemona. Since both Othello and Malcolm X came from
humble and unsophisticated beginnings their judgment was somewhat hindered. In the play
Othello Iago one of the main characters sees this in Othello the Moor is of a free and open
nature that thinks men honest that but seem to be so. (1:3:55:442 443). Iago knew of Othello s
weakness. He also knew Othello s innocence and baseness makes him susceptible to being
undermined by people. Othello is clearly a person who believes appearances versus reality. The role
of Iago in Othello s life can be compared to the role of Elijah Muhammad in Malcolm s life.
Malcolm and Othello base their reactions and decisions solely on the advice of the one who
ultimately brings about their end. In Othello case he doesn t even

Giorgio De Chirico s Art
Giorgio De Chirico s art can be viewed one that evolved tremendously over time. However, his
artwork portrayed a number of characteristics and traits that differentiated them from the works of
other artists in his time. This is probably why his art remains a puzzling factor to many from the
20th Century to date. A wide use themes and concepts can be seen in a number of his works. He
has played a huge role in shaping the surrealist works of art.
As mentioned, Giorgio De Chirico s art differed immensely from those of artists at the time. As a
result of this difference, he appeared to be left out and his work segregated especially by the
French arts men and fellow surrealists. His art was characterized by symbolic objects. His
manikins, for example were spotted without upper body parts or faces. They appeared bizarre.
Mostly, his paintings comprised of natural inspirations. Even if he painted a building, the aspect
of nature was seen in the outcome. Additionally, he used color so as to put emphasis of particular
objects. He would use contrasting colors in his mannequins and would place them in odd sizes and
relationships so as to create juxtaposition. An example of this can be seen in The Disquieting
Muses, one of his works of art.
Enigma is one of his most widely used themes. It can be seen his use of ordinary life objects and
figures. These figures have been used in a context that does not appear ordinarily familiar. They all
appear in a position or element that has been

Why Is It Good To Work In Groups
There are three kinds of jobs: first jobs where people have to work alone without any help,
second kind of job is where you have to work in a group, and finally the third kind looks for

thing to do with your team, there are reasons why is not good to work in a group. Main reason is
jealous. Everyone in the team has something which will make another in a group jealousy. For

Salaries And Compensation Packages Should Be Regulated
1.Introduction
Currently, there is an increasing argument about whether CEOs salaries and compensation
packages have become excessive, consequently, should be regulated. According to the High Pay
Centre (n.d., as cited in, West, 2016) and the Tim Bush (n.d., as cited in, West, 2016), chief
executives from FTSE 100 received a salary of ВЈ4.96m a year which is 180 times more than the
average UK employees . This essay argues that the compensation and salaries for chief executives
are excessive, therefore, should be regulated. In this essay, the reasons for why CEOs
compensation is excessive will first be argued, then the stakeholders power and influences on
companies performances will be discussed.
1.Excessive compensation
It is believed that there has been an extraordinary growth of CEOs salaries in recent years, which
could lead to an excessive compensation (Mishel and Davis, 2015). It could be augured that the
high pay for CEOs is simply a reflection of the market for skills (Bebchuk and Fried, 2004, as
cited in Mishel and Divis, 2015). Kaplan (as cited in Mishel and Divis, 2015), who published an
economic research working paper in 2012 claimed that the high salary for CEO is not unique, as
other groups with similar backgrounds have also seen a dramatic growth in their salaries. For
example, the salaries for corporate lawyers and hedge fund investors have also increased
significantly. As a result, the rising CEOs pay might be a result of a competitive market for

Oxfam is created to provide a service. Most charities operate as corporations, but some may
function as trusts or associations, each of which is a type of separate legal thing. Charities do not
have owners. Instead, they have founders and are run by a board of directors, and are managed by
one or extra managers who might be the founder. Because charities are separate things, they do
offer limited liability protection.

A for profit business aim to make a profit after selling their stock. Whereas a not for profit

Loyalists Vs Patriots
Both Loyalists and Patriots faced several tribulations in events leading up to the American
Revolution as the feelings of rebellion slowly progressed and created a great sense of tension. The
Loyalists that inhabited the colonies, however, endured severe harassment in the times leading up
to the war. They suffered through actions of disrespect and humiliation. They were, in other words,
tortured for their position on the side of the English Law. This treatment forced many Loyalists to
flee and return to England or to spread out and live elsewhere. Personal attacks and the stealing and
destruction of their property were common nuisances that the Loyalists endured in times of trouble.

The first and second sources of infection are most common and very important we need to know.
Firstly, the skin site and the catheter hub may contaminate by the patient s endogenous skin flora
and by exogenous flora which on health care workers hands. The organisms may infect blood
stream through the skin insertion site or migrate along the external surface of the catheter and
migrate along the internal lumen of the catheter via the hub. The most common organisms found in
CLABSIs are including coagulase negative staphylococci, staphylococcus aureus, enterococci and
Candida.
Furthermore, the other important pathogenic determinants of CLABSI are the material of which
the device is made, the host factors consisting of protein adhesions such as fibrin and fibronectin
which form a sheath around the catheter and the intrinsic virulence factors of the infecting
organism, including the extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) produced by the adherent
organisms. Catheters made of surface irregularities materials are especially vulnerable to microbial
colonization and subsequent infection. This association has led to emphasis on preventing catheter
related thrombus as an additional mechanism for reducing CLABSIs.

How Does Dickerson Use Ethos Pathos Logos
All good essays use some combination of the three rhetorical appeals: logos, ethos, and pathos.
Logos is an appeal to logical reasoning and how a writer puts together a cohesive, flowing
argument. Ethos is an appeal to a writer s credibility and good character, while pathos is an
appeal to the emotions of the audience. The Great White Way by Debra J. Dickerson is an essay
that questions America s racial and social norm of whiteness . Dickerson describes how the terms
of being white have differed over the past century and how this infatuation with race still defines
American society. The Great White Way by Debra J. Dickerson is a persuasive essay because of its
proficient use of logos, ethos, and, pathos. Dickerson s use of logos is prevalent from the very
beginning of her essay. She challenges the reader to define race and differentiate between blacks,
whites, Hispanics, and Asians. Most readers would define race as skin color but Dickerson
proves this answer to be incorrect by asking what a black person from Darfur and one from Detroit
have in common beyond melanin (Dickerson 68). She then goes on to explain how... Show more

She has a knack for suddenly switching from a professional tone to an emotional one and then
back to the professional tone. She does this when she mentions how race governs who could
vote, who could murder or marry whom, and what kind of work one can do (Dickerson 68).
Someone who skims The Great White Way may miss that jarring change, but an active reader
will feel shocked and intrigued by it. Dickerson does this again when she defines race as an
arbitrary system for establishing hierarchy and privilege . . . and deciding who gets to kick
whose butt (68). This tactic grabs the reader s attention and keeps him or her reading to find out
what other fact is shocking. This is a clever way of making the reader feel something while also

The Impact Of Diversity In Small Business
INTRODUCTION:
Business is occupation in which a group or an individual is working towards a motive and that
is to earn money. Business is of two type long and short or small and large. Every business
various type of activities that is being divided into different teams and in teams there are people
from dissimilar regions and that is called diversity. It is in both large and small businessand very
business have its own ways to deal with it. Diversity is main key point or crucial point it could
make a business to go long or could make its shutter down. Furthermore it directly affect the
organisational performance. We are going to talk about the diversity in small businessthat what it is
and what are its affects.
Workplace DIVERSITY:
Firstly what is the word diversity? Diversity refers to the various kind of people from different
religion, gender, age, colour etc. in other words we can say that diversity is word that can be
used to differentiate groups and people from one another. Diversity is big idea in business and
in society. In the workplace there are people working from different communities and cultures.
They all have different mind sets and work differently. They all have different point of views
which helps a business to go long because from every mind a new idea come out and make the
work done in effective and efficient. Like if there are some people from Punjab, Mumbai,
Rajasthan etc. they all will do the same work in different way which is very helpful to

Peer Review Strengths And Weaknesses
Peer review is more than just reading someone s paper and tell them if it s good or bad. It s
about explaining them what their weaknesses and strengths are. It can also help you as a writer
by giving you ideas of how to put stuff together in your essay. Personally, I believe that I was
really engaged when it came to peer reviewing. I truly appreciated the criticism and honesty of
my peers and I hope that they feel the same way about me. I tried to explain to them what was
wrong with each page step by step and what are some of their weaknesses and strengths.
Reviewing papers can be really hard for multiple reasons. The major one is because I don t like
telling others that they re doing something wrong, or because sometimes I just don t agree with
their point of view, an example of this is the RPP of my peer Jeffrey. Jeffrey believes that
legalizing marijuana would be beneficial to communities and even though I disagree with him I
still manage to give him a good review and gave him some sources that may help his claim.
Although, I find it hard to review someone s paper sometimes, it is way easier ... Show more content

This means that they would not be specific enough, they would just write something to get a grade,
or they would simply turn their peer review late. There is no much I can do when this happens

other people s paper. So what I do is wait for professor s King review and make corrections based
on his opinion, or ask one of my friends who like to read and write to review for me. Something
that I would like to say about my experience with peer reviewing in 1302 is that I never felt
insulted by no one which was great. I believe that if I were to get insulted in a peer review I would
have to take it as a different type of review since everyone has a different way to express

Significant Long Term Causes Of The 1905 Russian Revolution
Intro
The Autocratic system within Russia which was put into place for 300 years was one of the
significant long term causes for the Russian 1905 revolution. The ideas surrounding the autocratic
system meant that there was no parliament but one ruler who was Tsar Nicholas the II who had
absolute power and believed that he had been given this power by divine right. The autocratic
control over Russia involved russification which meant that the other cultures and languages being
practiced were to be prohibited in order to try and unify Russia as it was so vast. To help control
people from this, the Okhrana were put in place all over Russia to prevent people from practising

The Russian Revolution And The Russo-Japanese War
The Russian Revolution was one of the most dramatic governmental shifts in European history.
Before the Russian Revolution, Russia was an Autocracy. Tsar Nicholas II had succeeded Tsar
Alexander III, his father, on May 26, 1896. However, Nicholas II s rule took a turn for the worst
rather quickly. After the Russian people lost faith in the tsar, they began to form strikes and riots.
The Russian Revolution had effected World War I, caused the Russian Civil War, brought Russiaa
new way of thinking, and shaped Russia s involvement in World War II. The Russian Revolution
was a result of many underlying factors. One of the many factors was the Russo Japanese War.
The Russo Japanese War is a military conflict in which a victorious Japan forced Russia to
abandon its expansionist policy in the Far East, becoming the first Asian power in modern times
to defeat a European power ( Russo Japanese War 1). After Russia lost the Russo Japanese War,
Russia understood how ineffective their military was. The military was heavily undersupplied
and undertrained. Russia also faced rising prices and shortages on bread. Peasants began to riot
and strike against Tsar Nicholas II when they felt that he was not trying to fix Russia s problems.
The Russian Revolution of 1905 marked the end of the autocracy. The Russian Revolution of
1905 began in St. Petersburg on January 22, 1905, also known as Bloody Sunday. Father Georgii
Gapon led steel workers on a strike to St. Petersburg, for better

Puritanism And Romanticism
There have been three major influential movements in American history Puritanism, Rationalism,
and Romanticism. Each occurring during generally different time periods, they produced a number
of different types of literature reflecting their beliefs at the time. The Puritans, being some of the
first settlers in modern day America, relied heavily on beliefs they brought with them from the
Church of England. Rather than simply being followers of their prior Church, Puritans believed in
the Church as less of a structured organization and more of a spiritual journey or community. In
these beliefs, the Puritans sought to bring religion, spirituality, and the Bible into mainstream
thought. The Puritans had a number of other important beliefs... Show more content on

In reaction to these changes in the world, also not overnight, the Romantic movement began.
Romanticism held the beliefs that nature is of the utmost importance and that human intuition
should be held as more valuable than logic. Romantics at the time didn t appreciate how
Rationalism had ruined the sense of serenity and being one with nature. This movement, unlike the
previous two, sought to bring the world back to what it was meant to be rather than attempting to
explain why things happened or where they came from. Romantics simply believed in the idea that
humans should be one with nature and appreciate the world for what it is. Each of these three
movements would view the fairly modern idea of government spending on national security
differently because of the beliefs and values they held during their time period. Government
spending alone is a controversial subject matter, let alone government spending on such an crucial
sector as national security. Currently, governments are far more established in their systems than
they were during the time these three movements took place. At the time Puritanism began, the idea
of a democratic society was purely fictional and had never been truly applied in any country or
state. Considering the fact that a democratic country was established soon after the Puritan
movement, this essay will be focusing on the spending of major democratic governments such as
the United States and the European Union. In the United

them prior to braces, to make space. The palatal expander helps to widen the roof of the mouth
and expand the airway, helping Lola breathe. However, Lola s mouth is too small for the
expander and she needs to have two teeth removed prior to braces. Lola s small mouth and
added crowding caused her to need a lower lingual bar that was applied at age seven, and was in
place for three years. Lola snores and there is a family history of sleep apnea, the treatment of
orthodontic intervention can help snoring and possibly prevent the serious illness, sleep

The Ever Growing Inmate Population and
Its Effects on the Prison System
Frankie Lorino Jr.
University of Troy Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to look at the prevalence of overcrowding in the United States prison
system, what led to its current conditions, and how it effects the its fundamental function. The
explanation of growth is suggested by Davey 1998 and Anderson 2000. Jacobson, 2005 outlines
some of the affairs leading to the change in prison functions. The dire state of conditions in prison
facilities is exemplified by McConville, 1987. Furthermore McConville also offers some possible
resolutions to the current problems. The Ever Growing Inmate Population and
Its Effects on the Prison System When thinking of the prison system in the United States, one fact
that may be shocking is that it ranks as one of the highest per capita inmate populations in the
world. The United States has seen an ever growing prison population over the last few decades. The
results of prison inmate inflation are causing more strains than facilities can handle. The increasing
number of inmates is a result of the reluctance to help rehabilitate inmates and develop their ability
to function and add value to society.
Increase in prison population through the years Consequences
The United States now locks up a higher percentage of its population than any country in the world
(Jacobson, 2005, p. 8). Prison populations across the United States are increasing at a faster

Prosecutions In Victorian London
Prosecutions in Victorian London By:Justice Crawford
Over two hundred years ago in Victorian London, merchants would cut thieves fingers off for
stealing fruit from their market. In the early nineteenth century, court conditions and the treatment
of both the victim and the accused was very different from today. Trials in court were often very
quick. Prosecutors, judges and jurors had more power and choice. Punishments varied based on
the criminals social class and gender. If the accuser was pleaded guilty it would be nearly
impossible to plead their innocence even if there was significant evidence. The Victorians were very
distraught about crime. Levels rose sharply towards the end of the 18th century and continued to rise

Since whites were the settlers of London they had more privileges than immigrants and blacks.
In the article, Victorian London written by David Ross, Ross explains the life of a regular
citizen in Victorian London. During the time where immigrants and blacks migrated to London,
whites started to make their own local police force called Bobbies . On page 12, Ross writes In
1829 Sir Robert Peel founded the Metropolitan Police to handle law and order in areas outside
the City proper. These police became known as Bobbies after their founder. The early part of the
19th century was the golden age of steam. The first railway in London was built from London
Bridge to Greenwich in 1836, and a great railway boom followed. Major stations were built at
Euston (1837), Paddington (1838), Fenchurch Street (1841), Waterloo (1848), and King s Cross
(1850). This quote says that with the help of slaves and workers London built wonderful
attractions such as the Paddington and King s Cross. Also on page 15, it says The workers in
London were not only facing competition from their fellow countrymen, but also from people
across Europe like the Irish and the Jewish, who came to London to find jobs. The 19th century
London was the world s largest city and a political, economic and trading capital of Britain. The

A Brief Note On The City Of Pakistan Essay
Climate change affects different cities in different ways, whether it be a slight change in
temperature, or an extreme natural disaster, it still tends to have an impact on the society as a
whole because of all the changes and adjustments that have to be made.
Karachi is the capital of the province of Sindh, as well as the largest and most populous metropolitan
city of Pakistan. Pakistan consists of a population of roughly 199,085,847 million as of October
15, 2015, according to the United States Census Bureau. Over the past few years there has also
been an increase in its population, it seems to be growing at a rate of 1.49% as of 2014. The
population of Karachi is not exact, however according to the world population review, there was
an estimated population of 23.7 million in 2014, the population size as of this year is yet to be
determined.
Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan located on the southeastern part of the country. It covers an
area of about 3,527 km squared and it is mostly comprised of flat or rolling plains on the western
and northern boundaries of the urban sprawl. Karachi also has a harbor situated on the south west
part of the city which is primarily used for Pakistan s international trade.
The weather tends to be pleasant for the greater part of the year. May and June are the hottest
months, when the average maximum temperature is about 93 В°F. The coolest months are January
and February, when the average minimum temperature remains at about 56 В°F.

Why Is It Morally Permissible To Turn The Runaway Trolley
To begin with, the Trolley case is an experiment where you are put into a situation where you are
on a runaway trolley where the breaks do not work and you are headed for five people and you
can either hit the five people, killing them or save them by turning the trolley hitting one person
and killing him. There is another scenario called the Footbridge case where you are in the same
situation but in order to save the five people you have to push a fat man off a bridge stopping the
trolley. This is very interesting experiment that questions human ethicsand morality. It makes you
think whether or not it is morally permissible to turn the trolley. I argue that there is an important
moral difference between the Trolley case and the Footbridge case because there is a difference
between letting someone die to save people and killing someone to save people.... Show more

I disagree with Thompson that it would be impermissible to re direct the trolley because even
though in both cases one person dies from an action you take, the action has different moral
standards of reason of what is right and what is wrong. Most people agree that it is morally
permissible to turn the trolley killing the one man to save people five and it is wrong to push a
fat man from a bridge to save five people. Most people believe this because they know that there is
a distinct moral difference between incidentally killing someone and intentionally killing someone.
Intentionally killing some one is a universal law that has serious consequences which is why
people view pushing the fat man off the bridge as

Beauty And The Beast Comparison Essay
A Timeless Tale The story of the Beauty and the Beast is well known amongst all ages. Though the
story they portray in the Disney version is much different than what they have portrayed it in
France. La Belle et la BГЄte has been produced twice, once in 1946 and again in 2014. These two
movies tell the same story but in very different ways. The perception of this story has changed
between the different time periods. The 1946 version has two sisters and one brother. The father
is a merchant and they have money. There is no mention of a motherly figure. The father is very
keen to his Belle staying with him, and he does not want her to leave. The 2014 version has two

This however was not the cause for the loss of their house; instead it was the brothers doing. He
had been gambling and lost money without being able to pay back and signed a contract that
allowed them to sue and take their possessions if they felt like it. On the father s way back from
the port he got lost and wandered upon the Beast s castle. In the 2014 version, the father s ships
had been lost at sea, but the Mermaid had returned with its goods. By the time the father came to
retrieve though, it had been picked through as he had already signed away the ships. Their
possessions and house were taken because they now did not have any money. On the father s way
back from the port his horse stumbled and slid, hurting its leg. The father then treads on, falls off
a cliff, and then finds the Beast s castle. When the father enters the castle in the 1946 version, there
are live like arms that are holding candelabras and extending them when passed by. The candles

Avoidance Conditioning
Avoidance conditioning is associated with the concept of negative reinforcement. In fact negative
reinforcement contributes to an escape behavior initially and secondly to the avoidance behavior.
The escape behavior of an organism occurs when the organism performs an action that terminates
the aversive stimulus that it is receiving at the current moment in time. More importantly, the
avoidance conditioning occurs when a warning stimulus indicates to an organism that a particular
aversive event is present and allows the organism time to actively participate in a certain behavior
response in order to avoid the aversive stimulus (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk, 2013). Subsequently,
avoidance conditioning can be demonstrated utilizing the shuttle box procedure. According to
Domjan (2006), the shuttle box contains an electrically conductive metal grate floor and also
contains a partition in the middle with a hole cut out in the center of it that allows an organism
(such as a rat) to shuttle from one compartment to another during avoidance conditioning trials.
Coincidentally, this particular response is also called shuttle avoidance. Indeed, to better
comprehend avoidance conditioning, an understanding of Mowrer s Two Factor Theory,... Show

According to Powell, Honey, and Symbaluk (2013), this theory contains two phases within it which
are based on classical conditioning and operant conditioning. Phase one encompasses classical
conditioning of the fear response to the conditioned stimulus, in which the rat in the shuttle box
connects the light (NS) as a warning stimulus for the aversive shock event (US) that produces a
fear response (UR). Over a few trials, the rat becomes conditioned to associate the warning light
stimulus (CS) with a fear response (CR). Thus, the classical conditioning phase of the Two Factor
Theory sets the groundwork for the operant conditioning phase that comes

Real Courage In To Kill A Mockingbird
Real courage is not abundant in the city of Maycomb, even though the people ostensibly believe
so. They believe that having courage is defined as aspiring to become strong or to become a
warrior. The author, however, believes in a different kind of courage that these people do not have.
In To Kill a Mockingbird, the author, Harper Lee defines couragenot as being a hero or a warrior,
but as regular people. What makes these regular people courageous is not their physical bravery, but
their mental bravery. The most prominent examples of courage are Atticus defending Tom, Mrs.
Dubose giving up her morphine addiction, and the jury member who believed that Tom was
innocent.
One obvious example of courage in To Kill a Mockingbird is Atticus. On the main premise of the
book, Atticus is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dubose. Mrs Dubose, at first, just seemed like a bitter, resentful, and exasperated old lady. Later
in the book, it becomes known that this attitude and behavior is due to her drug addiction, in
which she was addicted to morphine. She said she was going to leave this world beholden to
nothing and nobody. She just wanted to live the rest of her life detached from her addiction, but
this made her seem like the furious old lady she was. Her situation is comparable to giving up
smoking in today s world, which, as it is known, proves to be a difficult task to even the utmost
willful. To add to that, according to modern statistics, there is a lower chance of giving up
smoking as people get older. People who are addicted but give up their addiction dwell on the
idea that they will never be happy again because they thought that their addiction was what made
them happy. This adds to proving her courage, especially because the effect of morphine is much
greater (mostly due to some chemical reactions from morphine in the brain). To have the bravery
and the willpower to give up the drug is what makes Mrs. Dubose a prime example of

The NFL Fining Players
Anonymous Dolphin

NFL Fining Players Imagine a person fresh out of college getting fined thousands of dollars. This
happens all of the time in the NFL. The bad thing is they re not even breaking the law. Players
are breaking the rules in the NFL and get fined. The reason behind all of this is to keep a fair
game between the franchises. Yet these people make thousands and thousands of dollars anyways.
Does fining even make a difference to them anyways? Some say the NFL fining its players is a
good thing. In the NFL there are many things that can cause a fine to a player. According to Jason
Plautz players in the NFL can get fines for simply changing the color of their shoes (Mental
Floss). Excessive celebration is a common way to get fined usually in the endzone. Only certain
celebrations that would include fans or messing with the pylons and actions along those lines
can result in a fine to a player. Also making contact with a referee in any way, which can be
known in some cases as unsportsmanlike conduct will cause a fine in the direction of that
player. Punching and kicking a player from the opposing team will get a player fined. In some
cases tackling the quarterback after he has thrown the ball is illegal and the NFL will fine the
player, and also late hits and cut blocking are illegal. The interesting thing is a player can avoid a
fine, if there is no penalty flag thrown because of their actions. In the NFL there have been fines

Essay on The Artwork of Henry Matisse
Matisse once said, A good art work should be like an arm chair in which you could relax at the
end of the day . This statement of Matisse s indicates that artist s artwork should be an art of
balance, of purity and tranquillity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter. An art which
is created for everyone in society and that is like a pacifying influence, something like a good arm
chair in which you could rest from physical fatigue. Moreover, his paintings are about imagination,
dreams and about the nature itself. Matisse s Fauvist paintings Large Red interior and Open
Window Collioure are great examples of Matisse s attitude and response to the world around him.
The artworks reflect the theories of Fauvists, revealing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The division of the canvas into patches of pure unmixed, warm and strident colour positioned in
powerful contrasts with each other, translating the emotions of Matisse. This creates a balance
in the artwork by applying equilibrium of colours on both of the sides of the canvas.
Primitively, this was the way of Fauvists expressing their emotions, through the use of vibrant
colours and compositions. In this way we can see that Matisse artwork is an art of balance
which avoids the depressing subject matter. Henri Matisse further explores the Fauvists ideas in
his art work, through the use of the lines and shapes. The lines and shapes play a significant role
in the work and the lines work together to establish balance. The balance of lines and shapes is
achieved through the geometric and organic shapes. The painting Open window, Collioure is
typically simplified into shapes and forms whose details are conveyed by untouched brush strokes
of roughly the same size. This creates an overall harmony that is unexpected in a composition of
such incompatible and dramatic complementary colours. Furthermore, the key to his success in
using such intense colours was the realization that he had to simplify his drawing. Matisse was
aware that if he intensified the colours for the expressive effect, it would be necessary to reduce
the amount of detail used in drawing shapes and lines of the objects. Moreover, by applying the

Basic statistics for the GDP per capita:
Mean: x=i=148xi48 = 12900
In order to compute the median, we need to order the GDP values:

28200, 28800, 29000, 29100, 29800, 30000, 31100, 37800.
The median is obtained as the middle value of the two central values (the 25th and the 26th):
Median= 7600+91002 = 8350
In order to compute the modal class, we need to split the data in classes.
If we consider classes of USD 1000 (0 999, 1000 1999, ...) we have the following table of
frequencies:

Having The Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT)
Why am I having this test?
The glucose tolerance test (GTT) is done to check how your body processes sugar (glucose). This
is one of several tests used to diagnose diabetes that develops during pregnancy (gestational diabetes
mellitus). Gestational diabetes is a temporary form of diabetes that some women develop during
pregnancy. It usually occurs around weeks 24 28 of pregnancy and goes away after delivery.
You may have the GTT test after having a 1 hour glucose test with results that indicate that you may
have gestational diabetes. You may also have this test if:
You have a history of giving birth to very large babies or have experienced repeated fetal loss
(stillbirth).
You have signs and symptoms of diabetes, such as:
Changes in your vision. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you need help stopping, ask your health care provider.
The testing procedure may vary among health care providers and hospitals.
How are the results reported?
Your results will be reported as milligrams of glucose per deciliter of blood (mg/dL) or
millimoles per liter (mmol/L). You will compare your results to normal ranges that were
established after testing a large group of people (reference ranges). Reference ranges may vary
among different people, labs, and hospitals. For this test, blood sample reference ranges are:
Fasting: less than 95 mg/dL
1 hour after drinking glucose: less than 180 mg/dL
2 hours after drinking glucose: less than 155 mg/dL
3 hours after drinking glucose: 140 md/dL
What do the results mean?
Results within reference ranges are considered normal, meaning that your glucose levels are well
controlled. Results higher than the reference ranges may mean that you recently experienced stress,
such as from an injury or a sudden (acute) condition like a heart attack or stroke, or that you have:
Gestational diabetes.
Acute stress response.
Cushing syndrome.
Tumors such as pheochromocytoma or glucagonoma.

Theme Of The Last Death
THE LAST LEAF THEMES SACRIFICE: Sacrifice is one of the most important themes in this
story. This theme is depicted by Behrman as he risks his life for Johnsy. When he finds out
about Johnsy s illness and her pessimism that she will die once the last leaf falls, he decided to
help her. So, he gets out in that terrible cold weather in the middle of the night to paint an ivy
leaf on the wall. As a result he himself catches the Pneumonia and dies. So in this way the self
sacrificing nature of Mr. Behrman is shown in the story. FRIENDSHIP: Friendship is also one
of the important themes in this story. The love and affection between two friends i.e. Johnsy and
Sue is shown in the story. Sue takes good care of Johnsy when she falls ill. At that time Johnsy
was pessimistic and was convinced that she will die once the last leaf falls but Sue supports her

to an end. Similarly, Pneumonia is also the symbol of death as the old Behrman dies of it. So, in

hopelessness is illustrated in this story by Johnsy. In the story, Johnsy seems to be very hopeless
due to her disease. She is convinced that she will die once the last leaf falls. She says, When the
last one falls I must go, too . Similarly, Johnsy s desperation and hopelessness is shown when she
utters the following words. It is the last one; I thought it would surely fall during the night. I heard

Introduction . Flammable Gasses Can Be Very Dangerous Mostly
Introduction Flammable gasses can be very dangerous mostly when it comes to highly volatile
products. This is because they can evaporate at very low temperatures, may be room temperature
and due to their low energy of activation to react. Highly volatile products are that dangerous
because they cannot be seen, can evaporate any single moment, regardless of the size of leakage,
they spread very fast among many other risks. This was the case at one of the manufacturing plants
in Massachusetts, Arnel chemical plant. The plant was responsible for manufacturing printer paints

During the long unmonitored nights, the worst happened, one of the unsecured storage tanks
leaked its components. They flowed on the ground, and due to the volatility, it evaporated and filled
the whole building structure. From an unknown source, ignition happened, therefore, causing one
of the worst accidents ever recorded in the American history. The blast. It was too strong that any
after emergency measures could not have mattered.
Violated standards and how the incident could have been prevented The government has a set of
standards that must be ensured for a company or an organization to be allowed to run. Just as an
unroadworthy car is not authorized to be on the road for the risk that it exposes to people, then the
same applies to manufacturing plants Automatic response programs in this plant were very poorly
ensured. If the people who were setting the plant cared about the magnitude of the risk they were
dealing with they were dealing with; they would have elected automatic shutdown apparatus on the
mixing tanks. From the record, the plant did not have any automatic pressure mixing shutdown
procedure nor temperature monitors that could be used to prevent situations from being worse.
There was also very minimal and poor observation of the plant. It was reported that there were no
any workers at the plant at the time the accident was occurring regardless of the fact that

  • 2. Essay about The Theory of Dark Flow Imagine a mystical, invisible influential power, pulling our galaxy far, far away from where it should be. Imagine the milky way being pulled millions and millions of km away. The planets pulled far apart from each other. This would ensure a certain demise of current life forms, forever changing our world. This is the effect of dark flow. Fortunately this appears to be occurring in distant galaxies, however observations have concluding our galaxyis too being pulled away in a specific direction. This highlights the essentiality of more research being conducted upon this unexplained force. Good Morning class, today my chosen topic is the term dark flow. Now dark flow is a basically a term used to explain astronomical observations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore this formula states that the two galaxy clusters force of gravity between them should remain proportional when divided their combined masses and squaring the distance between the galaxy clusters from their centre point. When analysing the data results, this is shown to be inaccurate, the gravitational force not remaining inversely proportional, instead appearing as too little for the force that is being observably exuded. Therefore, scientists have decided upon alternate explanations for where the additional force is coming from, causing the galaxy clusters accelerated movement. (Newtons Law of Universal Gravity, 2001). So far there are two separate theories explaining the data showing dark flow . The first analysis of this data was conducted in 2008, by Alexa Kashlinsky of NASA s Goddard Space Flight centre and his team. The acceleration trend observed when analysis was conducted upon a satellites image of the cosmic microwave background. Cosmic microwave background meaning defined as radiation that leaked outwards into the universe after the big bang. Abnormal movement was investigated among the motion of the galaxies speed, in comparison to the radiation. It was found to not match up, leading to the discovery of dark flow, and the differing theories to explain it. The first theory suggests that chunks of matter were accelerated ... • 3. Art of Love The Art of Love Framing for a Misogynist The poetry of Ovid exemplified in The Art of Love is one of the only examples of the contemporary social behavior exhibited during the time of Rome. Ovid writes about social activities, proper style, women, and how to obtain them. Through Ovid s perspective, there are three different ways to consider a woman. These three views include relating a woman to a game, a beautiful treasure, and as a means to assert social status. Comparatively, Andreas Capellanuswrites in a way that makes women seem respected, worthy and as something to a man would willingly devote his life to. Both men have a clear fascination with women and their relationship to men. However, their distinct writing styles cause ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The view Ovid takes on women is not always clear. In some passages he has a violent perspective on women. Ovid writes about how he easily could have taken advantage of women, displaying a negative viewpoint of ownership towards females. Similarly he says never a virgin there was free from the lust of a hand , which shows that men desire women, and a virgin is held as a high prize, one that is worth committing the act of adultery for (Art 1. 89 126). On the other end, Capellanus views the trophy of virginity as futile and counters that while you know some other man is enjoying the embraces of your beloved, this will make you begin to value her solaces all the more (2.2, 3). Furthermore, he makes the argument against adultery, again opposing the views of Ovid. Capellanus explains his argument in detail by stating that a man in love is adorned with the virtue of chastity, because he who shines with the light of one love can hardly think of embracing another woman, even a beautiful one (1.4, 2). Contrary to many men who believe that a man must be strong and not show a woman his tenderness, Ovid shares his heart, saying, do not think it a shame to suffer her blows or her curses; do not think it a shame, stooping, to kiss her feet (Art 2. 522 553) . This is simply an outstanding statement, as it serves to show the true emotion and character of Ovid. This statement cannot be taken lightly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Digital Manipulation Has Changed Photography How digital manipulation has changed photography? Photography not only makes people remember good things, but also helps people record every day. According to Wheeler s phototruth and photofiction , Photographs are always manipulated in many ways. For example, computer technology and smart phone can fix the pictures in this new century. First, people can use an app called Photoshop which can fake pictures easily. Photoshop has great features that can add everything into the picture wherever users want. Secondly, people use some softwares to make pictures more beautiful. In addition, Wheeler also gives us example in the Keeneth Brower s article. He told about faked nature photos, such as New York daily news which showed President Bill Climton ... • 5. Favorite Moments Research Paper Some of my favorite moments in the past three years have been at summer camps. First two at Camp Foster in Okoboji, Iowa; the third at Camp Chief Ouray in Colorado. It s difficult to pick one or two of my favorite moments from these three years, but one thing is certain, I learned more from my three years working with kids than any life experiences thus far. People often ask me, why do you enjoy working with kids? The best answer I can think of is simple. I love working with kids because it s challenging. The challenge is twofold, kids are in constant need of justification, and kids push you to think creatively. Anyone that has experience with kids knows a child s favorite question is why? Why is it their favorite? (See what I did there?) It s their favorite question because their actions need justification. If you are unable to provide adequate justification and purpose for doing a task, good luck! Every camp counselor, parent, and teacher knows the worst way to respond to a question is because I said so . This constant desire for justification provides you with plenty of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They try to use an arithmetic approach. If you know what the problem is, you can solve for x. This process is very logical and systematic. Most adults can look at the facts and solve systematically. When kids look at a problem they see the facts and challenge the intellectual basis for these assumptions. They think, why do we need to do it that way? Is there another way we can achieve the same end? In other words, they look at the math problem and say, why can t we change the variables? For kids, everything is in play. I believe our faith, along with many other areas, requires us to be childlike. It seems as if we always fall short. We need more of it! We need to look at problems, identify the variables, justify the variables, change the variables with poor justification, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on Art from Baroque Period Through the Postmodern Era Art from Baroque Period through the Postmodern Era Renaissance art history began as civic history; it was an expression of civic pride. The first such history was Filippo Villani s De origine civitatis Florentiae et eiusdem famosis civibus, written about 1381 82. Florentine artists revived an art that was almost dead, Villani asserts, just as Dante had restored poetry after its decline in the Middle Ages. The revival was begun by Cimabue and completed by Giotto, who equalled the ancient painters in fame and even surpassed them in skill and talent. After Giotto came his followers, Stefano, Taddeo Gaddi, and Maso, uomini illustri all, who, together with notable jurists, poets, musicians, theologians, physicians, orators, and others, made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While rare for being texts on art, they are of a type, however, that was common in Renaissance literature. They belong to a genre or category in which are found some of the most characteristic texts of Renaissance humanism. Other of the books in this category are by such writers as Bruni, Salutati, and Manetti, books with which all students of the Renaissance are familiar. They treat broad moral and philosophical issues, but, as in the accounts of visual art, only insofar as they concern the city of Florence. And scholars reasonably have asked why there was such a preoccupation with Florence at this time. One of those who did so was Hans Baron and his answer has been at the center of discussions of this question since the 1950s. Baron linked the focus on Florence during the years around 1400 to a struggle over Florentine independence that began in 1390 with a declaration of war by Milan and ended only in 1454, when Milan accepted the independent status of the Florentine Republic. These events, he proposed, explain the direction taken by Florentine political speculation at this time, particularly the stress on republican ideals of liberty and civic involvement; they gave rise to a distinctive type of humanism, rooted in a new philosophy of political engagement and active life, and devoted to the celebration of Florence s republican liberties. Bruni was responding not to recent events in Florence, came the rejoinder, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Culture Changes During The Edo Period Culture Changes during the Edo Period The Edo Period in Japan (1600 1868) was ruled by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu who was appointed by the Emperor. During this time, many changes happened to promote stability among the people and Japan. Early The Shogun adoptive a system which was later called Neo Confucianism based on Confucianism (From China). This system stressed the importance of morals, education and hierarchical order in the government and society (Japan Guide.com).The Shogun needed to create peace and by using segregation, there were four types of divisions during the Edo period. First at the top was the Shogun and Samurai, they created structure and peace among the domains. Second in line was the peasants because without them the most important need would not be filled which was food. Artisans were third in line being they added some value for the reason that they produced goods like swords for the Samurai, artwork, music, and painting/printing. Last on the list of importance was the merchants. Merchants made money off people and therefor held no value to the Shogun. Due to a closed door policy that was enforced by the Shogun hardly anything came into Japan without permission during the Edo period. The Shogun also limited trade with other Western Nations and prevented Japan from trading. For over 200 years Japan has little to do with trade outside with the exception of a Dutch post in Nagasaki and maintaining relations with China and a post in Pusan where ... • 8. The Courtroom Of The Courthouse The courthouse I visited was not one of the largest courthouses but still a good choice for me at least. South Regional Courthouse which is located on 3550 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, FL 33021. Upon Entering the courthouse, I had no idea where to find criminal courts so I went up to the front desk and asked where to go. After explaining I m a student and I don t have to be in court today they then advised to to go to two rooms. Courtroom 210 and 230 so I decided to walk directly into 210. Upon entering I noticed the estranged aroma of a courtroom and the many people sitting down waiting to be preceded upon. They were 2 officers in the front which didn t look too happy but seems like they were used to this by now. I had no idea what criminal charges I was about to encounter but I found a seat in the back and started to listen. Judge Claudia Robinson was preceding and she was not the judge you would kind of expect to see. Mid 40 s but in good shape. A lot like Judge Judybut younger. She has a way of doing things as I continued to listen I came to find out. Many people there were there for leaving the scene of an accident, marijuana possession, disorderly conduct. They all were facing jail time but the judge was really nice and pretty much offered every single person there a deal. Some people were there because they missed court and had to come back but the judge could not rule out a conviction or a deal because apparently when you miss court you have to pay a fine. She gave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. St. Augustine Body In his Confessions, St. Augustine describes his intellectual progression from loving the beauty of worldly creations to aspiring to the true beauty of God. His account of his anagogical ascent parallels a similar intellectual ascent by Socrates in Plato s Symposium. The two ascents are comparable in that the protagonists both seek to glimpse and experience the ultimate beauty of the universe, but differ because St. Augustine defines Godas the source of all beauty, whereas Plato distinguishes between the gods and the ideal form of Beauty. Furthermore, St. Augustine proposes that the books of the Platonists are ultimately deficient in providing spiritual fulfillment because they do not acknowledge the importance of Jesus Christ, the incarnation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 7.23). St. Augustine is only able to understand the true beauty of God for a brief second because he is weighed down by his body. His main limitation of the body is his sexual desires, which also represents the weakening of the will, derived from his mortality. St. Augustine is aware that he must transcend beyond his sexual desires in order to sustain the true vision of God, but cannot do so for an uninterrupted period of time. St. Augustine s anagogical ascent as described in his Confessions, begins with him questioning his previous assumptions about the physical beauty of bodies. He questions the truth in these beliefs, and describes that the unchangeable and authentic eternity of truth transcends my mutable mind (Conf. 7.23). St. Augustine claims his judgements about the beauty of bodies are transient and are subject to change as his ideas develop. He states that he cannot possibly claim beauty to be one thing, because his idea of beauty and what is beautiful itself changes. There is only one inalterable definition of true beauty, which is God, and St. Augustine cannot label that beauty with his mind which is so prone to change and the deterioration of mortality. This leads him to view not the beauty of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Finding Nemo Psychology Shamel Brown Psy 150 Concepts Paper April, 10, 2015 Finding Nemo The movie I chose to analyze is Finding Nemo, which has many themes depending on how one interprets it. The theme I got out of it was that love conquers fear . This relates to psychology aspects of emotions and mentality. This movie also has many concepts, but the concepts I will be discussing are authoritarian parenting due to posttraumatic stress disorder, Erickson s development stage of child industry versus inferiority, stereotyping, anterograde amnesia, and permissive parenting styles. The Sheep Revolution in John UpdikeВґs A P At first glance, A P written by John Updike, looks like a funny, slangy, youthful story about a young, nineteen year old boy, Sammy, who has the normal problems that come along with his age group; abhorrence for his job, talking despondently about the older generation, and dreaming about girls he sees in the store. However, when people look at the history of the 1960 s, they find it shows a change in American social values and morals. Lake temperatures does not variate drastically, but does change gradually with every season of the year. Summer, the thermic stratification of lakes, can be studied in different layers (Figure 2). The superior level of a lake that is terminally stratified, is known to be epilimnion, which is the warmer part of the fresh water body. This water remains in the superior part because as the water gets warmer, the light of the sun becomes clearer than the dense water downward. Logos is an appeal to logical reasoning and how a writer puts together a cohesive, flowing argument. Ethos is an appeal to a writer s credibility and good character, while pathos is an appeal to the emotions of the audience. The Great White Way by Debra J. I tried to explain to them what was wrong with each page step by step and what are some of their weaknesses and strengths. Reviewing papers can be really hard for multiple reasons. The major one is because I don t like telling others that they re doing something wrong, or because sometimes I just don t agree with their point of view, an example of this is the RPP of my peer Jeffrey. Jeffrey believes that legalizing marijuana would be beneficial to communities and even though I disagree with him I still manage to give him a good review and gave him some sources that may help his claim. So what I do is wait for professor s King review and make corrections based on his opinion, or ask one of my friends who like to read and write to review for me. Something that I would like to say about my experience with peer reviewing in 1302 is that I never felt insulted by no one which was great. Significant Long Term Causes Of The 1905 Russian Revolution Intro The Autocratic system within Russia which was put into place for 300 years was one of the significant long term causes for the Russian 1905 revolution. The ideas surrounding the autocratic system meant that there was no parliament but one ruler who was Tsar Nicholas the II who had absolute power and believed that he had been given this power by divine right. The autocratic control over Russia involved russification which meant that the other cultures and languages being practiced were to be prohibited in order to try and unify Russia as it was so vast. • 34. The Russian Revolution And The Russo-Japanese War The Russian Revolution was one of the most dramatic governmental shifts in European history. Before the Russian Revolution, Russia was an Autocracy. Tsar Nicholas II had succeeded Tsar Alexander III, his father, on May 26, 1896. However, Nicholas II s rule took a turn for the worst rather quickly. After the Russian people lost faith in the tsar, they began to form strikes and riots. The Russian Revolution had effected World War I, caused the Russian Civil War, brought Russiaa new way of thinking, and shaped Russia s involvement in World War II. The Russian Revolution was a result of many underlying factors. One of the many factors was the Russo Japanese War. The Russo Japanese War is a military conflict in which a victorious Japan forced Russia to abandon its expansionist policy in the Far East, becoming the first Asian power in modern times to defeat a European power ( Russo Japanese War 1). After Russia lost the Russo Japanese War, Russia understood how ineffective their military was. The military was heavily undersupplied and undertrained. Russia also faced rising prices and shortages on bread. Peasants began to riot and strike against Tsar Nicholas II when they felt that he was not trying to fix Russia s problems. The Russian Revolution of 1905 marked the end of the autocracy. The Russian Revolution of 1905 began in St. Petersburg on January 22, 1905, also known as Bloody Sunday. • 36. Puritanism And Romanticism There have been three major influential movements in American history Puritanism, Rationalism, and Romanticism. Each occurring during generally different time periods, they produced a number of different types of literature reflecting their beliefs at the time. The Puritans, being some of the first settlers in modern day America, relied heavily on beliefs they brought with them from the Church of England. Rather than simply being followers of their prior Church, Puritans believed in the Church as less of a structured organization and more of a spiritual journey or community. In these beliefs, the Puritans sought to bring religion, spirituality, and the Bible into mainstream thought. The Puritans had a number of other important beliefs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In reaction to these changes in the world, also not overnight, the Romantic movement began. Romanticism held the beliefs that nature is of the utmost importance and that human intuition should be held as more valuable than logic. Romantics at the time didn t appreciate how Rationalism had ruined the sense of serenity and being one with nature. This movement, unlike the previous two, sought to bring the world back to what it was meant to be rather than attempting to explain why things happened or where they came from. Romantics simply believed in the idea that humans should be one with nature and appreciate the world for what it is. Each of these three movements would view the fairly modern idea of government spending on national security differently because of the beliefs and values they held during their time period. Government spending alone is a controversial subject matter, let alone government spending on such an crucial sector as national security. Currently, governments are far more established in their systems than they were during the time these three movements took place. At the time Puritanism began, the idea of a democratic society was purely fictional and had never been truly applied in any country or state. The Ever Growing Inmate Population and Its Effects on the Prison System Frankie Lorino Jr. University of Troy Abstract The purpose of this paper is to look at the prevalence of overcrowding in the United States prison system, what led to its current conditions, and how it effects the its fundamental function. The explanation of growth is suggested by Davey 1998 and Anderson 2000. Jacobson, 2005 outlines some of the affairs leading to the change in prison functions. The dire state of conditions in prison facilities is exemplified by McConville, 1987. Furthermore McConville also offers some possible resolutions to the current problems. The Ever Growing Inmate Population and Its Effects on the Prison System When thinking of the prison system in the United States, one fact that may be shocking is that it ranks as one of the highest per capita inmate populations in the world. The United States has seen an ever growing prison population over the last few decades. The results of prison inmate inflation are causing more strains than facilities can handle. The increasing number of inmates is a result of the reluctance to help rehabilitate inmates and develop their ability to function and add value to society. There is another scenario called the Footbridge case where you are in the same situation but in order to save the five people you have to push a fat man off a bridge stopping the trolley. This is very interesting experiment that questions human ethicsand morality. It makes you think whether or not it is morally permissible to turn the trolley. • 47. Avoidance Conditioning Avoidance conditioning is associated with the concept of negative reinforcement. In fact negative reinforcement contributes to an escape behavior initially and secondly to the avoidance behavior. The escape behavior of an organism occurs when the organism performs an action that terminates the aversive stimulus that it is receiving at the current moment in time. More importantly, the avoidance conditioning occurs when a warning stimulus indicates to an organism that a particular aversive event is present and allows the organism time to actively participate in a certain behavior response in order to avoid the aversive stimulus (Powell, Honey, Symbaluk, 2013). Subsequently, avoidance conditioning can be demonstrated utilizing the shuttle box procedure. According to Domjan (2006), the shuttle box contains an electrically conductive metal grate floor and also contains a partition in the middle with a hole cut out in the center of it that allows an organism (such as a rat) to shuttle from one compartment to another during avoidance conditioning trials. Coincidentally, this particular response is also called shuttle avoidance. Indeed, to better comprehend avoidance conditioning, an understanding of Mowrer s Two Factor Theory,... This statement of Matisse s indicates that artist s artwork should be an art of balance, of purity and tranquillity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter. An art which is created for everyone in society and that is like a pacifying influence, something like a good arm chair in which you could rest from physical fatigue. Moreover, his paintings are about imagination, dreams and about the nature itself. The artworks reflect the theories of Fauvists, revealing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The division of the canvas into patches of pure unmixed, warm and strident colour positioned in powerful contrasts with each other, translating the emotions of Matisse. This creates a balance in the artwork by applying equilibrium of colours on both of the sides of the canvas. Primitively, this was the way of Fauvists expressing their emotions, through the use of vibrant colours and compositions. In this way we can see that Matisse artwork is an art of balance which avoids the depressing subject matter. Henri Matisse further explores the Fauvists ideas in his art work, through the use of the lines and shapes. The lines and shapes play a significant role in the work and the lines work together to establish balance. The balance of lines and shapes is achieved through the geometric and organic shapes. The painting Open window, Collioure is typically simplified into shapes and forms whose details are conveyed by untouched brush strokes of roughly the same size. This creates an overall harmony that is unexpected in a composition of such incompatible and dramatic complementary colours. Furthermore, the key to his success in using such intense colours was the realization that he had to simplify his drawing. Matisse was aware that if he intensified the colours for the expressive effect, it would be necessary to reduce the amount of detail used in drawing shapes and lines of the objects. • 52. The Relationship Between Life Expectancy at Birth and Gdp... The relationship between Life Expectancy at birth and GDP per capita (PPP) Candidate: Teacher: Candidate number: Date of submission: Word Count: 2907 Section 1: Introduction In a given country, Life Expectancy at birth is the expected number of years of life from birth. Gross domestic product per capita is defined as the market value of all final goods and services produced within a country in one year, divided by the size of the population of that country. The main objective of the present project is to establish the existence of a statistical relation between Life Expectancy (y) at birth and GDP per capita (x). First, we will present in Section 2 the data, from an official governmental source, containing Life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Basic statistics for the GDP per capita: Mean: x=i=148xi48 = 12900 In order to compute the median, we need to order the GDP values: 600, 700, 1100, 1500, 1600, 1900, 2100, 2200, 2500, 2900, 2900, 3200, 3300, 3900, 4000, 4100, 4300, 4800, 5000, 6000, 6300, 6700, 7600, 7600, 9100, 9900, 10600, 10700, 11200, 12300, 13900, 15700, 16700, 19800, 20000, 26700, 27400, 27600, 27600, 27700, 28200, 28800, 29000, 29100, 29800, 30000, 31100, 37800. The median is obtained as the middle value of the two central values (the 25th and the 26th): Median= 7600+91002 = 8350 In order to compute the modal class, we need to split the data in classes. If we consider classes of USD 1000 (0 999, 1000 1999, ...) we have the following table of frequencies: Class| Frequency| 0 999| 2| 1000 1999| 4| 2000 2999| 5| 3000 3999| 3| 4000 4999| 4| 5000 5999| 1| 6000 6999| 3| 7000 7999| 2| 8000 8999| 0| 9000 10000| 2| 10000 10999| 2| 11000 11999| 1| 12000 12999| 1| 13000 13999| 1| 14000 14999| 0| 15000 15999| 1| 16000 16999| 1| 17000 17999| 0| 18000

  • 54. Having The Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) Why am I having this test? The glucose tolerance test (GTT) is done to check how your body processes sugar (glucose). This is one of several tests used to diagnose diabetes that develops during pregnancy (gestational diabetes mellitus). Gestational diabetes is a temporary form of diabetes that some women develop during pregnancy. It usually occurs around weeks 24 28 of pregnancy and goes away after delivery. You may have the GTT test after having a 1 hour glucose test with results that indicate that you may have gestational diabetes. You may also have this test if: You have a history of giving birth to very large babies or have experienced repeated fetal loss (stillbirth). You have signs and symptoms of diabetes, such as: Changes in your vision. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you need help stopping, ask your health care provider. The testing procedure may vary among health care providers and hospitals. How are the results reported? Your results will be reported as milligrams of glucose per deciliter of blood (mg/dL) or millimoles per liter (mmol/L). You will compare your results to normal ranges that were established after testing a large group of people (reference ranges). Reference ranges may vary among different people, labs, and hospitals. For this test, blood sample reference ranges are: Fasting: less than 95 mg/dL 1 hour after drinking glucose: less than 180 mg/dL 2 hours after drinking glucose: less than 155 mg/dL 3 hours after drinking glucose: 140 md/dL What do the results mean? Results within reference ranges are considered normal, meaning that your glucose levels are well controlled. Results higher than the reference ranges may mean that you recently experienced stress, such as from an injury or a sudden (acute) condition like a heart attack or stroke, or that you have: Gestational diabetes. Acute stress response. Cushing syndrome. Tumors such as pheochromocytoma or glucagonoma. Kidney failure. Pancreatitis. Hyperthyroidism. An ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 56. Introduction . Flammable Gasses Can Be Very Dangerous Mostly Introduction Flammable gasses can be very dangerous mostly when it comes to highly volatile products. This is because they can evaporate at very low temperatures, may be room temperature and due to their low energy of activation to react. Highly volatile products are that dangerous because they cannot be seen, can evaporate any single moment, regardless of the size of leakage, they spread very fast among many other risks. This was the case at one of the manufacturing plants in Massachusetts, Arnel chemical plant. The plant was responsible for manufacturing printer paints On November 21, 2006, a night at about 2.45 AM a massive explosion occurred at the plant. After thorough research and investigation, it was found out by the US... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the long unmonitored nights, the worst happened, one of the unsecured storage tanks leaked its components. They flowed on the ground, and due to the volatility, it evaporated and filled the whole building structure. From an unknown source, ignition happened, therefore, causing one of the worst accidents ever recorded in the American history. The blast. It was too strong that any after emergency measures could not have mattered. Violated standards and how the incident could have been prevented The government has a set of standards that must be ensured for a company or an organization to be allowed to run. Just as an unroadworthy car is not authorized to be on the road for the risk that it exposes to people, then the same applies to manufacturing plants Automatic response programs in this plant were very poorly ensured. If the people who were setting the plant cared about the magnitude of the risk they were dealing with they were dealing with; they would have elected automatic shutdown apparatus on the mixing tanks. From the record, the plant did not have any automatic pressure mixing shutdown procedure nor temperature monitors that could be used to prevent situations from being worse. There was also very minimal and poor observation of the plant. It was reported that there were no any workers at the plant at the time the accident was occurring regardless of the fact that ...
