Dystopian Literature Create Illusions
There is a quote that says, Be careful what you wish for because you might get it all and then
something you don t want . Dystopian Literature is a great example of this scenario because it shows
how perfect can sometimes be an illusion. I think Dystopian Literature should be used in storytelling
to give the reader an idea of what places are really like instead of thinking that they are perfect,
straight and narrow.
A dystopia is a futuristic and imagined universe in which oppressive societal control and the illusion
of a perfect society are maintained through corporate, bureaucratic, technological, moral, or
totalitarian control. There is a benefit or need for Dystopian Literature because it shows how real life
societies can create illusions

The Importance Of Asian Culture
Asian culture is a salient component of our world s vastly different viewpoints, struggles, and diverse
customs. Moreover, it is important be aware of the diversity of Asian culture as over 26 countries are
included (Hildebrand, Phenice, Gray, Hines, 2008). In reviewing three separate TED Talks related to
Asian culture I discovered that they work incredibly hard for what they believe in. For instance, the
brave individuals who escape from North Korea and the outwardly LGBTQ+ members in Taiwan or
Japan that face adversity. In western culture, I believe, that we focus so heavily on the honor and
respect heavily in their society that we overlook other traits. It s the one story narratives that cause a
detriment as to how we view another groups culture and people. According to Leslie T. Chang, the
Western thoughts surrounding Chinese factory workers is both closed minded as well as rarely
includes the actual viewpoint of the worker themselves. Globalization is a major factor in the large
number of factories. In addition, we focus on the poor working conditions and by our standards lower
pay. Chang s speech eloquently states that as a country we overestimate our effects on other; our
desires for new technology does not result in Chinese people suffering in factories. They choose to
leave their homes in order to earn money, to learn new skills, and to see the world. In the ongoing
debate about globalization, what s been missing is the voices of the workers themselves (Chang,

The Matrix, By The Wachowski Brothers
Art has always been, and always will be, our most instinctual way of producing visual adaptions of
our inner fantasies. Imaginings that are based on what is real, but appear to belong to another place
entirely. One of the most engaging of art forms in which we do this, is film. Its ability to recreate the
impossibilities of our imagination, in a way that is realistic and believable, is one that is hard to
replace within the genres of science fiction and fantasy. A classic example of such a film is The Matrix
a science fiction masterpiece directed by The Wachowski Brothers. Released in 1999, the film has an
extreme amount of depth not only in its storyline, but in its innovative use of visual effects and
camerawork. Therefore in this essay I have decided to critically examine the underlying thematic
content of The Matrix , and the way in which the use of visual effects and cinematography contributed
to the execution of its intricate dystopian narrative, and the themes present within it.
Advances in technology have allowed filmmakers to produce more and more works based within the
setting of fantasy and reality, coexisting with each other. And often, as it is in The Matrix , reflecting
back on each other. One of the themes within The Matrix that relates to this element, is this idea of the
blurring lines between what is man and what is machine . The film clearly presents humans and
machines on opposing sides of an ongoing battle for life, yet throughout the film we are

The Tradition Of War Poetry Essay
The Tradition Of War Poetry
By comparing and contrasting a selection of war poems consider the ways in which attitudes to war
have been explored and expressed. When considering poetry written post 1900 concentrate on a
selection of poems written by Wilfred Owen.
Humans have turned to poetry in many different instances as a way of expressing them selves, using
the best combination of words, in the best order to express exactly how they are feeling at that
moment. Poetry is one of the most powerful means of communication that uses words very sparingly,
and often defines the era in which the poet lived and died. I think that is why many poems are written
about war, as anyone who was involved in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also uses strong metaphors to describe how the men should fight in the battle, such as imitate the
action of the tiger. This line prepares the troops psychology as well as physically by saying that they
should be strong, courageous and fierce like the animal. The poem is also very patriotic, and talks of
how the men should not disgrace their mothers or ancestors. Like the poem The Soldier by Rupert
Brooke, it presents the idea that dying for your country would be a good, brave thing to do and is in a
way a sense of duty towards their mother England.
This poem is not wholly positive or negative. It gives war a good image by making it sound
courageous and noble but it also expresses some horrific images such as, Or close the wall with our
English dead. I think that the last line of the poem, Cry, God for Harry, England and Saint George.
sums up the overall message of the poem by ending in a strong religious line, using a group of 3 to
make the speech effective, and emphasising the fact that their cause is a righteous one.
Although The Charge Of The Light Brigade does put much importance on the idea of how brave and
courageous the men fighting were it also creates a different message compared to The Battle Of
Harfleur from Henry V. I think what Alfred Tennyson was trying to do in this poem was to convey and
explain what mistakes

The Role Of Observation In Homer s Odyssey
have chosen to write about the constellation Puppis, the poop deck of Argo. I have chosen this
constellation because it stood out to me; it was one of the first constellations that grabbed my attention
and my curiosity. Puppis used to be part of the larger constellation Argo Navis before the constellation
was broken up into three smaller constellations, Carina, Vela and Puppis in 1752 by Nicolas Louis de
Lacaille. Puppis is the 20th largest constellation occupying 673 degrees of space. The brightest star in
Puppis is Naos (Greek word for ship) with a visual magnitude of 2.21.

King Aeëtes says he can have it on the condition he completes three near impossible tasks. First he
must till a field using a team of fire breathing oxen, then he must sow dragon teeth into the soil and
defeat the magical warriors that emerge from the ground and finally he must defeat the dragon. On
Olympus Hera, who had a thing for Jason, persuades Aphrodite to send her son Eros to make King
Aeëtes daughter, Medea, fall in love with Jason. Hera knew that Medea was a powerful sorceress and
would be able to assist Jason. So Eros wings to Colchis and shoots an arrow straight and true into
Medea s heart, she fell so in love with Jason that she was willing to betray her family. First Medea
gave Jason a potion that would protect him from flames so he tilled the soil without getting harmed by
the oxen s flames. Jason then sows the dragon teeth and a powerful army emerged, however Medea
told Jason how to defeat them; they were strong but not very intelligent. Jason threw a rock into the
crowd which then caused an argument amongst the army about who threw it. Eventually the magical

Bronte section
The cutting at Bronte is a section of rock face which made of a sendimetary layer known as
Hawkesbury Sandstone. The sandstone is formed by grains of sand being compressed by the pressure
of the surface above where it lies. Over time, the pressure results in the grains of sand being fused
together to form a sandstone. Our group start from chainage 250 to 260. These section can be roughly
divided into 4 section which are list below.
Section 1,250 252.5 chainage
The main features for section1
There are 3 joints located in the left corner of section one, which numbered 1 to 3 and with the dip
angle of 70 90, however, it towards different direction, the first one towards 151 SE, the second one is
325 NW, the last one is 96 E. These 3 joints are parallel to each other and vertical to road surface, all
fill in with sand and gray. These vertical joints mainly terminated into rock substance on one side and
continued to the ground on the other side. This suggested that there is a large possibility that the defect
continues to the underlying rocks. In addition, there is a continuous bedding planes within this section.
The bedding plane continued to the other section, with the dip angle of 82, towards 80 E, fill with sand

Hummingbirds
Hummingbirds:
Smallest bird on earth Hummingbirds are fascinating birds that are always fun to watch. These birds
are able to hover in mid air, dart from side to side, go straight up or down, or even backwards. They
can out fly and out maneuver birds hundreds of times their size. There are many factors that contribute
to the hummingbirds ability to fly so easily through the air. A hummingbird s wings are shaped so that
they are slightly rounded on the top. Their wings flaps 15 80 times per second, depending on the type
of species they are. The Giant Hummingbird s wings beat 8 10 beats per second, the wings of medium
size hummingbirds beat 20 25 beats per second and the smallest beat 70 beats per second. ... Show

The Venturi effect is evident when the hummingbird holds it s wings close to it s body. The rapid air
flow helps the bird maneuver quickly. Hummingbirds are durable only in life. In death they are
delicate, their wings are hollow and fragile, thus almost never fossilize. This was one of the reason
that the recent discovery of 30 million year old fossil bird that remains may include an ancestral
hummingbird. . Its fossil specimens had long, slender bills ,and shortened upper wings bones topped
by a knob. Surprisingly, fossils were found in the southern part of Germany which was far away from
the modern hummingbird territory. Hummingbird s aggression were shaped by sipping nectar as often
as every minutes. They compete by challenging and bullying each other in mid air; post up and
pirouette, dive to the grass, and paddle backward in dances of dominance that end suddenly as they
begin. They will compete each other up in tall mountains near the equator that offer rich ecosystem at
a variety of elevations. . Hummingbirds are very small birds with a high metabolism, with heart rates
can reach as high as 1,260 beats per minutes, therefore they must be fed constantly.

protein for hummingbirds. Hummingbirds can consume up to 50% of their weight in sugar, the nectar

Negative Impact On Communication
In my life so far, the top three most influential technologies for communication have been e mail,
texting (including group texting), and social media (primarily Facebook). E mail has shaped my life
positively by being able to communicate professionally. Whether I need to communicate via e mail
with bosses, colleagues, or coworkers; e mail has been an essential tool to be able to do so
professionally, especially when face to face is not an option. A way that e mail has had a negative
impact on my life is if I neglect it. Even when you are on vacation, out with family, or sick in bed; the
e mails keep coming and the pile up can be overwhelming to get through. This is especially true when
you are managing multiple e mail accounts. Another negative impact is when e mail is the only type of
communication with someone. Through my experience, I have found that you can only say so much
through written words, especially through email. The best communication with people goes through
multiple mediums, of talking in person (or on the phone) as well as through e mail.
Texting has had a big impact on my life. I grew up without a phone, however, in my last years of high
school my parents bought me one. Since then, texting has been a crucial way of communicating with
my friends, family, and peers. Texting, first of all is very convenient. Most people text back within a
couple hours and it allows for informal conversation. Group texting has played a key part in my life as
well. Group

Five forces analysis: 1) The bargaining power of suppliers * As some producers such as Ice Fili

a problem in finding new suppliers. * As the technology of Russia was lagged behind Western s, Ice
cream producers needed to import most of their ice cream machines. The bargaining power of
suppliers for raw materials is low, while for facilities is high. 2) The bargaining power of customers *

A Report On Energy Efficiency
Abstract: Energy efficiency (EE) is an important objective in uplink wireless communications due to
the limited capacity of batteries in user equipment (UE). Consider the scenario in which the access
point (AP) serves a subset of UEs when available resources cannot support all of the UEs quality of
service (QoS) requirements. In this project, propose a scheduling metric to balance the tradeoff
between EE and fairness. Based on the scheduling metric, propose a suboptimal joint scheduling and
resource allocation algorithm and a power allocation algorithm that maximizes the system EE.
Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve a good tradeoff between the system
EE and fairness.
I.INTRODUCTION The booming demand for wireless applications and the relatively low battery
capacity in UE puts a premium on achieving high EE. With the growing popularity of green
communications, EE is becoming increasingly important. Previous work on energy efficient resource
allocation in OFDMA systems has mainly focused on downlink scenarios. Due to constraints on
individual UEs and the discrete nature of sub channel assignment uplink energy efficient resource
allocation is less tractable. In an uplink allocation algorithm is described to maximize the minimum
EE among all users.
In order to maximize the total EE of all UEs under individual power and rate constraints for the UEs
an efficient suboptimal algorithms are proposed.

Femininity Depicted Throughout The Hebrew Bible
According to the late great mongolian marauder Genghis Khan The greatest happiness is to scatter
your enemy, to drive him before you,to see his cities reduced to ashes, to see those who love him
shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters. Genghis Khan, much like the
Hebrew Bible during certain points, regards women as objects. However, to write the Hebrew Bible
off as fully misogynistic would not do the ancient texts justice. From Genesis to Judges 2, the Hebrew
Bible objectifies women, uses them as scapegoats, but during certain points rises them to the level of
highly admired Prophets and warriors. This essay attempts to explore the various undertones of
femininity depicted throughout the Hebrew Bible. The story of the Concubine of a Levite in Judges 19
20 may be one of the harshest examples of female objectification throughout the Bible. The story
takes place during a period without a monarch. It begins with the Levite Husband leaving his home to
fetch his concubine who fled to her father s home in Gibeah. This story showcases the brutal rape of a
nameless woman. The author of Judges 19 20 is a somewhat contested issue. Although rabbinic Sages
believed that the book was written by the prophet Samuel, modern biblical scholars note that the work
was not written by just one author. Many of these scholars believe that this was the work of
Deuteronomistic redactors. However the positive expectations from the monarchy, the lack of

Racial And White-Dominated Society In Ralph Ellison s The...
The Invisible Man was an interesting book to read. It showed the event of African American racism in
1930 through the eyes of the narrator. Ralph Ellison shows his journey through the white dominated
society. Ellison intended outcome is to us about the African American society; tell us about the racial,
white dominated society; tell us about his experiences in 1930. Ellison intends to write about the
African America society in 1930. He tells us the African Americans are constantly discriminated. They
are blind to the fact that they are being mistreated and avoid knowing the truth. They try to find their
identity in a White dominated society. The Narrator thinks that he is alive to support and gain
recognition of white people. He spends many years trying to blend into society. Another example is
Mr. Bledsoe. He is an African American person who puts blending into white society above his own
people. He declares that he would bring down every African American before he loses his job. Ellison
shows how African Americans try to join white society and those that have been excepted keep it as an
accomplishment and would never give it away. The second intended outcome was to tell us about
racial, white dominated society. He tells us that they discriminated African Americans and believed
that every one of them was not a human. They also believed that every African American was a tool.
The Narrator tells us that he was thrown into a battle royal for the white people to enjoy. Then after
the battle, he was shown money, but it was a fake and a trick to entertain the white people. A second
example is the statue of the founder. The Narrator sees that the statue shows a symbolism that white
people still did not believe that African Americans were not entirely free. Another example is when the
narrator is in the hospital. While he is at the hospital the doctor tests electrical shock therapy on the
narrator and even tries to castrate him. The white people believe that African Americans are not
entirely free and that they can be used for their own entertainment or for their testing. The third
intended outcome is to tell us about his experience through this time period. He shows us that he

Thatcherite ruthless policies and make the Tories electable for another term. The European issue was
the most problematic issue throughout Major s governance. Polarized opinions divided not only the
country, the Tories, but the cabinet itself. Major failed to manage the government to run effectively on
European issues as the government motion had been opposed in parliament (Bale,2011; Cowley and

worse by chaotic organization and communication within relative personals. When Major first stepped

unpopular with the government, the morale of the Tories was low as losing a bunch of safe seat by

decided to run the electoral campaign in a different way. He built up a cabinet based on their ability,
not ideological preference, which including Hurd and Heseltine, his competitors in leader election,
hoping to unite the certain Conservative voters (Bale,2011). At the same time, Lamont s pre election
budget, which cutting the bottom of the income tax, tried to pull swing voters to the Conservatives
(Marr,2007, pp.484 487). Moreover, he managed to run a negative campaign on Labour s capability on
the economy, while remembering electorates the old labour fantasy high tax and spending with a
socialist ambition. This successfully pushes swing voters from labour to conservatives. He also

Support Group Community Analysis
Community is basically a social unit where like minded people interact, network and hold
conversations on topics of mutual interest. Of late, many Facebook communities have come into play,
and have also commanded immense popularity. The virtual presence of these groups means that all
those who have access to Internet can join them if it interests them. There are so many communities
on Facebook catering to a wide range of people and their interests it is hard for a person to not find a
community, which does not interest them.
For instance, there is a community by the name SWOT s guide to food this rekindles the love of food
and restaurant eating, and is highly useful for those seeking information or reviews about a particular
eating joint. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, a successful entrepreneur can share stories of her business venture, which can serve as a
model for others to follow. For instance, a success story of their food venture, or new clothing line that
they may have kick started. Supportive communities are extremely useful to follow on Facebook.
Depending on the sensitivity of the topics discussed in the group, they can be open, closed or secret.
Members need not feel insecure or violated.
Facebook communities serve as great platforms for individuals wanting to reconnect with one of their
own. These close knit groups are a huge form of support, and places where people
can interact and discuss topics of mutual interest. Having a virtual presence makes them accessible to
almost anyone, and they have a far greater reach than tangible

interest in Ford motor company. This analysis begins with an introduction to the automotive industry
then it covers industrialisation of the automotive industry, also globalisation of the automotive
industry and lastly global integration of the automotive industry.

Japanese automakers have instituted innovative production methods by modifying the U.S.
manufacturing model. They are also capable of adapting and utilizing technology to enhance
production and increase product competition.
Starkey,K. McKinlay, A(2007:75) argues that the rising competition and increasing global trade are
the major factors in improving the global distribution system and has forced many auto giants such as
General Motors, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, and Daimler Chrysler, to shift their production
bases in different developing countries which help them operate efficiently in a globally competitive
marketplace.
Globalisation of the automotive industry
Firms globalize when they attempt to integrate key day to day functions on a global scale, such as
component sourcing, vehicle development, new model introduction (the Big Three s investments in
Mexico are a good example).
From a geographic point of view, the world automotive industry is in the midst of a profound
transition. Since the mid 1980s, it has, like many other industries, been shifting from a series of
discrete national industries to a more integrated global industry. Global integration embeds firms in
larger regional and global scale systems of production, consumption, innovation, sourcing, command
and control. These global ties have been accompanied by

The Stereotypes Of Racial Stereotypes Essay
Racial stereotypes have always been a serious issue in society. The stereotypes impact many aspects of
our life. We more or less get carried away by our perceptions toward race, and judge people in a
certain frame unconsciously, as Omi set forth in In Living Color: Race and American Culture. Taken
by Hilary Swift, this photo presents an African American woman, waiting for a bus that can take her to
the Kitchen of Love, a food pantry that located in Philadelphia aiming to feed people suffering from
hunger, where she volunteers. It happens in dawn so it s still dark outside. The surroundings give us an
idea that it should take place in a black neighborhood (Stolberg Black Voters, Aghast at Trump, Find a
Place of Food and Comfort ). The woman is staring at the direction where the bus is coming, with a
smile on her face. As a photojournalistic image, this photo is aiming to portrait a kind and helpful
African American woman, however, does this photo really positively portrait an African American
woman?
At first sight, the photo indeed implies the theme that this African American woman looking forward
to helping out the other people in need the community. The color is desaturated and the darkness takes
over most part of the picture, which serves as a foil to the woman s florescent pink jacket. Though the
figure is small in the photo because of the extreme long shot, her outfit makes her stand out and grab
the audience s attention immediately. Also, when you look into this

Smuggling Cuban Baseball Players Essay
Major League Baseball (MLB) in America has an influx of players from across the world and many
come from Latin American countries. The country of Cuba has numerous players playing in the MLB
even though Cuban citizens are not allowed to leave Cuba without a permit that is very difficult to get.
Most young Cuban baseball players are forced to flea the country in order to enter the MLB. These
young men have to risk jail time and their lives in hopes of getting a payday in America. They are
smuggled out of their country by way of boat and often with help of the drug cartels. Hopefully one

months to establish residency. This way his players avoided the draft and were allowed to sign as free
agents. Since Fidel Castro has taken over Cuba over 200 Cuban ballplayers have defected.
The way Cuban Ballplayers leave Cuba is often a daunting task. Ballplayers who wish to leave want

Reflection Paper On Public Speaking
Throughout this Summer I have watched myself blossom into a more confident public speaker. Prior
to this class, public speaking had never been a natural ability, and I was always afraid and full of
anxiety before a speech. Speaking for more than a few minutes seemed to be an impossible task. Skills
of knowing how to evaluate myself as a public speaker were absent, and I did not know how to
become an effective listener.
When starting the class I had little to no public speaking experience. I have never fully prepared a
speech before or conducted research to gain the most information possible. Starting off with the Life
in a Bag speech, I was not fully prepared and I had the idea that I would just present and say what
came to mind. I was visibly nervous and I did not speak at an extemporaneous level. The amount of
times Umm was said was most likely over 50, and I just couldn t get the words out. Making eye
contact with anyone in the room was also absent. It was noticeable when eye contact was attempted
that I would lose my current thought. When the speech was over I immediately regret not rehearsing
the speech or at least planning what I was going to say. One thing I Believe I did correctly is bringing
in five things that actually represent my personality.
Following the Life in a Bag speech, it was time to prepare for the narrative speech. Picking a topic
was more difficult than I originally thought. For a lot of people, (myself being one of them) picking a
story to tell about yourself can cause the speaker to feel uncomfortable while presenting. The topic for
the narrative speech did not need to be personal; however for me it seemed to be the most logical and
easy way to go. I picked an embarrassing moment from my childhood when my sister replaced my toy
from show and tell with a hairbrush. I looked over the notes that my peers had given me from my last
speech and the biggest issues that needed to be fixed were making better eye contact, speaking at an
extemporaneous level, and just being more prepared with what I was going to say. I prepared index
cards for this speech, and I did rehearse my presentation which made me more fluent. When the time
came to present I felt less nervous than I did for the

Hitler And Antisemitism
The experience of the war, economic crisis and the discontent caused by the conditions of the Treaty
of Versailles created a favourable condition for a rise of utopian revolutionary movements such as
Fascism in Italy and National Socialism in Germany. By placing the regeneration of the nation as one
of their main objectives, they provided a dream of recreating a sense of community among the
members of their nations whilst providing a sense of security through national myths and symbols,
which left little or no room for those who were different. According to Mosse, war had transformed
politics into a drama built upon shared emotions , and racism, thus, all too easily provided unity to this
drama . Yet, the leaders of those movements, Hitler, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, united by the same goals, the two regimes expressed different understanding and use of the
main concepts of race and its relation to politics. Whereas the political domain in Germany was
formed on the basis of racial thinking immediately after Hitler came to power, for Mussolini the racial
laws were introduced later as a tool to give fascism a new dynamic. Racism represented the most
radical initiative of the fascist project of remaking Italians as a way of regenerating the Italian nation.
Although the racial law of fascist regime was based on Nuremberg laws, the racial thinking has been
fused from the imperial policy on conquest of Ethiopia. In Italy, the racial law allowed to model new
national identity by clearing it from foreign elements which were regarded as degenerative and having
negative influence on the nation. Similarly, for Nazi Germany the desire to bring the nation to a
common awareness of its ethnic and political unity required a common enemy in a face of the Jews.
Thus Jews symbolised many things the Nazi wanted to destroy within the german society in order to
achieve its resurrection. But none of it would have been possible if German policies would not have

Essay on Rapid Growth of Nintendo Video Games
Introduction
Over the last 25 years the video game industry has grown rapidly, becoming a significant player in the
media landscape, rivalling that of television. The industry is dominated by three key players, Sony,
Microsoft and of course Nintendo, which will be centred on. The core strategy behind these global
giants revolves around the same key idea, that money is to be made in software as development and
manufacturing costs keep the consoles break even sales price from most consumer price points
(Williams, 2002). However the approach taken by Nintendo varies considerably from its two main
rivals.
Nintendo Co. launched its first video gaming system in 1983 and has since sold over 4.2 billion games

Today the company sees itself in a difficult position, lagging behind competitors and trying to keep up
in a changing marketplace. While Nintendo is still the market leader, market share is dwindling,
falling a sizable 10% in a matter of four years (Euromonitor, 2014). It has been a number of years
since Nintendo has created a successful innovative product and the company is beginning to feel the
effect. If Nintendo doesn t do something soon to change this, the future is bleak for this gaming
company.
The total market share of the three leaders has dropped suggesting the growth of software companies,
particularly those creating mobile gaming apps. However Microsoft has managed to increase their
market share by 3% in the same time period, due to their positioning strategy.
Market Share in Global Video Gaming Industry. (Euromonitor, 2014) The above figures depict the
industry s standing one year ago, and are likely to have since changed, not working in Nintendo s
favour. At this time Nintendo had released its Wii U, launched almost a year before the PS4 and Xbox
One, and should have been enjoying its success. However the console failed to gain momentum at the
beginning, and ultimately botched, 2013 year ended with the Wii U selling only 2.8 million consoles.

Confucius Vs Vietnamese Culture
Presently there are countless cultures in the world. In the midst of all these cultures, I decided to pick
the Vietnamese culture for my assignment. Similar to other East Asian countries, Vietnamese culture is
strongly influenced by Confucianism, a simpler way of life, and the connection within family member
are often reflected by the values embedded in the ideology (Vu, Huy Q., Rook, Karen S. (2013)).
There are quite a few differences in the Portuguese culture in comparison to Vietnamese culture, and
few similarities. I believed that the boundaries in the Vietnamese culture was fascinating, and it
aspired me to research more about this topic.

Rook, Karen S. (2013)). The division of labor between the parents impacts their parenting style and
the socialization of their children (Vu, Huy Q. Rook, Karen S. (2013)).
Discrepancies
Between parents and children, differences in acculturation are a common occurrence in immigrant
families including, the Vietnamese culture (Vu, Huy Q., Rook, Karen S. (2013)). When Vietnamese
immigrated to Western societies, the ethics and manners were incorporated, and was much easier for
the children to focus on then parents (Vu, Huy Q. Rook, Karen S. (2013)). Due to the children finding
the ethics quicker and without difficulty Vietnamese children begin to wander from the traditional
values causing struggles between the two generations (Vu, Huy Q. Rook, Karen S. (2013)).
Intergenerational conflict may perhaps have more dominant with parents and daughters rather than

tensions unfortunately, it has received little attention to date (Vu, Huy Q. Rook, Karen S. (2013)).
Social Spaces
Immigrant youth are able to interact with their peers in school, which includes various mixed gender

Febrile Epilepsy Research Paper
Each year, one in one hundred people in the United State develop epilepsy, but there is a less common
type of epilepsy. It s called febrile infection related epileptic syndrome, more commonly known as
FIRES. I happen to know one of the few people who have this type of epilepsy. Her name is Kailee,
and she goes to my brother s school. She was even in some of his classes. This type of epilepsy occurs
in school aged children between the ages of six and seventeen ( What is FIRES? ). It starts with a mild
febrile illness that lasts anywhere from four days to two weeks. Febrile illness is when someone has a
fever but they aren t sick with anything else ( Febrile Illness ). When Kaylee was at this point, her
mom thought she had the flu. This is very common, as the flu presents itself as a fever in many
children. Then, the child starts to have seizures. The seizures occur very quickly, and the child needs
to be hospitalized immediately at this point. Seizures the children experience are non focal, meaning
they have no consistent starting point or ending point in the brain ( What is FIRES ). The disease is

is a result of an autoimmune response, while others think the seizures are caused by a malfunction in
the metabolic process of some cells. Both of these theories have little evidence to support them.
FIRES could be a result of the febrile illness that comes before the seizures. The idea is that the
increased heat in the body results in the mutation of a pathogen. The new pathogen might attack the

Informative Essay On Ufos
Reports of an alien UFO being intercepted by jet fighters have circulated the Internet. Residents of an
otherwise quiet English town were awoken to blasting jet engines earlier this month. Jet fighters from
a nearby military base scrambled toward the English coast to intercept what was said to be a UFO.
The UFO was reported by fisherman to have risen from the water. The flight tracking of the jets

course hysterical as the booming engines of the jets buzz by before the UFO simply disappears into
the water. A helicopter than does a flyby, and the footage ends. Could this be real footage? If so, how
did they get it off the boat? Have those fishermen been assassinated? A Hoax or Possibly Real? The

The appellant is a manufacturer of console games in the form of game disks and Sony Play Station. To
play the console games, one has to load a game disk into a console or play station which has a

Despite this, the defendants managed to develop a product named a software emulator which makes it
possible for one to interchange the PC games and the TV console games. Hence, once one has bought
the software emulator from Bleem, they can easily use their personal computer to play a Sony
PlayStation. Thus, as a result of this, one who wishes to play or enjoy the Sony games need not

Abstract
This paper explores the question whether the financial statements can be made more useful. This leads

Therefore, in order to adopt the decision usefulness approach, three major questions must be
addressed:
1. Who are the users of financial statements?
It is helpful to categorize users into broad groups, such as investors, creditors, managers, unions,
standard setters, and governments, etc. These groups are called constituencies of accounting.
* Investors * Holders of equity securities, such as common stocks, preferred shares * Holders of
partnership interest * Other equity holders or owners
* Creditors * Purchaser of debt instrument * Lend economic resources
* Manager * Inside financial statements provider and user * Has a different incentive of using
financial statements than outsiders
* Other users (provide resources) * Employees provide human capital in exchange for salary,
remuneration and pension. * Suppliers extend credit to facilitate sales. * Customers prepay for goods
and services. * Union, standard setters and governments provide policies and regulations.
In order to take a close look into various financial statement users behaviour, two theories or concepts
should be outlined here:
* Single person decision theory
Single person decision theory takes the viewpoint of an individual who much make a decision under
conditions of uncertainty. * It suggests how a rational individual makes optimal decisions in the
presence of uncertainty. * It

First you have your normal, casual cosplayers. You ll see them in what looks like a discounted
Halloween costume with a couple of additionally accessories. They just want to become their favorite
superhero or anime character for a day and don t care how screen accurate it looks. Just being able to
represent one of their favorite characters is more than enough for them.
Next we have the real deals, the official cosplayers. These people work on their cosplays for month s
sometimes even years! The costumes they create make themselves look like they are stepping right out

encourage parents to read to their child The Crossover. The New York times mentions that this book
deserved to win both the Newbery Medal and the Coretta School King Book Honor. They also

impact of those choices on people and their loved ones. ( ) This book is truly about the love of family
and the challenges that are present in families as well. OVerall, this book was about the love of a
family and a positive influence for children everywhere. The next review I found talked about the
contemporary issues about race, There is a traffic stop on the way to a game, in which the boy s father
(like many an African American man) is pulled over for a minor infraction; Josh is warned by his
mother about what happens to young black men who let their tempers get the better of them. () This
book is a great book for young students of different races to create a connection they can relate to.
This review also mentions that his book talks about health concerns such as hereditary hypertension.
This opens up for a discussion on heart health and how to make healthy choices. Lastly, the reivew
urges for people to read this story to learn about the bond between a family that

  • 2. Dystopian Literature Create Illusions There is a quote that says, Be careful what you wish for because you might get it all and then something you don t want . Dystopian Literature is a great example of this scenario because it shows how perfect can sometimes be an illusion. I think Dystopian Literature should be used in storytelling to give the reader an idea of what places are really like instead of thinking that they are perfect, straight and narrow. A dystopia is a futuristic and imagined universe in which oppressive societal control and the illusion of a perfect society are maintained through corporate, bureaucratic, technological, moral, or totalitarian control. There is a benefit or need for Dystopian Literature because it shows how real life societies can create illusions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Asian Culture Asian culture is a salient component of our world s vastly different viewpoints, struggles, and diverse customs. Moreover, it is important be aware of the diversity of Asian culture as over 26 countries are included (Hildebrand, Phenice, Gray, Hines, 2008). In reviewing three separate TED Talks related to Asian culture I discovered that they work incredibly hard for what they believe in. For instance, the brave individuals who escape from North Korea and the outwardly LGBTQ+ members in Taiwan or Japan that face adversity. In western culture, I believe, that we focus so heavily on the honor and respect heavily in their society that we overlook other traits. It s the one story narratives that cause a detriment as to how we view another groups culture and people. According to Leslie T. Chang, the Western thoughts surrounding Chinese factory workers is both closed minded as well as rarely includes the actual viewpoint of the worker themselves. Globalization is a major factor in the large number of factories. In addition, we focus on the poor working conditions and by our standards lower pay. Chang s speech eloquently states that as a country we overestimate our effects on other; our desires for new technology does not result in Chinese people suffering in factories. They choose to leave their homes in order to earn money, to learn new skills, and to see the world. In the ongoing debate about globalization, what s been missing is the voices of the workers themselves (Chang, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Matrix, By The Wachowski Brothers Art has always been, and always will be, our most instinctual way of producing visual adaptions of our inner fantasies. Imaginings that are based on what is real, but appear to belong to another place entirely. One of the most engaging of art forms in which we do this, is film. Its ability to recreate the impossibilities of our imagination, in a way that is realistic and believable, is one that is hard to replace within the genres of science fiction and fantasy. A classic example of such a film is The Matrix a science fiction masterpiece directed by The Wachowski Brothers. Released in 1999, the film has an extreme amount of depth not only in its storyline, but in its innovative use of visual effects and camerawork. Therefore in this essay I have decided to critically examine the underlying thematic content of The Matrix , and the way in which the use of visual effects and cinematography contributed to the execution of its intricate dystopian narrative, and the themes present within it. Advances in technology have allowed filmmakers to produce more and more works based within the setting of fantasy and reality, coexisting with each other. And often, as it is in The Matrix , reflecting back on each other. One of the themes within The Matrix that relates to this element, is this idea of the blurring lines between what is man and what is machine . The film clearly presents humans and machines on opposing sides of an ongoing battle for life, yet throughout the film we are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Tradition Of War Poetry Essay The Tradition Of War Poetry By comparing and contrasting a selection of war poems consider the ways in which attitudes to war have been explored and expressed. When considering poetry written post 1900 concentrate on a selection of poems written by Wilfred Owen. Humans have turned to poetry in many different instances as a way of expressing them selves, using the best combination of words, in the best order to express exactly how they are feeling at that moment. Poetry is one of the most powerful means of communication that uses words very sparingly, and often defines the era in which the poet lived and died. I think that is why many poems are written about war, as anyone who was involved in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also uses strong metaphors to describe how the men should fight in the battle, such as imitate the action of the tiger. This line prepares the troops psychology as well as physically by saying that they should be strong, courageous and fierce like the animal. The poem is also very patriotic, and talks of how the men should not disgrace their mothers or ancestors. Like the poem The Soldier by Rupert Brooke, it presents the idea that dying for your country would be a good, brave thing to do and is in a way a sense of duty towards their mother England. This poem is not wholly positive or negative. It gives war a good image by making it sound courageous and noble but it also expresses some horrific images such as, Or close the wall with our English dead. I think that the last line of the poem, Cry, God for Harry, England and Saint George. sums up the overall message of the poem by ending in a strong religious line, using a group of 3 to make the speech effective, and emphasising the fact that their cause is a righteous one. Although The Charge Of The Light Brigade does put much importance on the idea of how brave and courageous the men fighting were it also creates a different message compared to The Battle Of Harfleur from Henry V. I think what Alfred Tennyson was trying to do in this poem was to convey and explain what mistakes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These birds are able to hover in mid air, dart from side to side, go straight up or down, or even backwards. They can out fly and out maneuver birds hundreds of times their size. There are many factors that contribute to the hummingbirds ability to fly so easily through the air. A hummingbird s wings are shaped so that they are slightly rounded on the top. Their wings flaps 15 80 times per second, depending on the type of species they are. Negative Impact On Communication In my life so far, the top three most influential technologies for communication have been e mail, texting (including group texting), and social media (primarily Facebook). E mail has shaped my life positively by being able to communicate professionally. Whether I need to communicate via e mail with bosses, colleagues, or coworkers; e mail has been an essential tool to be able to do so professionally, especially when face to face is not an option. A way that e mail has had a negative impact on my life is if I neglect it. Even when you are on vacation, out with family, or sick in bed; the e mails keep coming and the pile up can be overwhelming to get through. This is especially true when you are managing multiple e mail accounts. Another negative impact is when e mail is the only type of communication with someone. The best communication with people goes through multiple mediums, of talking in person (or on the phone) as well as through e mail. Texting has had a big impact on my life. • 13. A Report On Energy Efficiency Abstract: Energy efficiency (EE) is an important objective in uplink wireless communications due to the limited capacity of batteries in user equipment (UE). Consider the scenario in which the access point (AP) serves a subset of UEs when available resources cannot support all of the UEs quality of service (QoS) requirements. In this project, propose a scheduling metric to balance the tradeoff between EE and fairness. Based on the scheduling metric, propose a suboptimal joint scheduling and resource allocation algorithm and a power allocation algorithm that maximizes the system EE. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve a good tradeoff between the system EE and fairness. I.INTRODUCTION The booming demand for wireless applications and the relatively low battery capacity in UE puts a premium on achieving high EE. With the growing popularity of green communications, EE is becoming increasingly important. Previous work on energy efficient resource allocation in OFDMA systems has mainly focused on downlink scenarios. Due to constraints on individual UEs and the discrete nature of sub channel assignment uplink energy efficient resource allocation is less tractable. In an uplink allocation algorithm is described to maximize the minimum EE among all users. In order to maximize the total EE of all UEs under individual power and rate constraints for the UEs an efficient suboptimal algorithms are proposed. The proposed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Femininity Depicted Throughout The Hebrew Bible According to the late great mongolian marauder Genghis Khan The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy, to drive him before you,to see his cities reduced to ashes, to see those who love him shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters. Genghis Khan, much like the Hebrew Bible during certain points, regards women as objects. However, to write the Hebrew Bible off as fully misogynistic would not do the ancient texts justice. From Genesis to Judges 2, the Hebrew Bible objectifies women, uses them as scapegoats, but during certain points rises them to the level of highly admired Prophets and warriors. This essay attempts to explore the various undertones of femininity depicted throughout the Hebrew Bible. The story of the Concubine of a Levite in Judges 19 20 may be one of the harshest examples of female objectification throughout the Bible. The story takes place during a period without a monarch. It begins with the Levite Husband leaving his home to fetch his concubine who fled to her father s home in Gibeah. This story showcases the brutal rape of a nameless woman. The author of Judges 19 20 is a somewhat contested issue. Although rabbinic Sages believed that the book was written by the prophet Samuel, modern biblical scholars note that the work was not written by just one author. Many of these scholars believe that this was the work of Deuteronomistic redactors. However the positive expectations from the monarchy, the lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It showed the event of African American racism in 1930 through the eyes of the narrator. Ralph Ellison shows his journey through the white dominated society. Ellison intended outcome is to us about the African American society; tell us about the racial, white dominated society; tell us about his experiences in 1930. Ellison intends to write about the African America society in 1930. He tells us the African Americans are constantly discriminated. They are blind to the fact that they are being mistreated and avoid knowing the truth. They try to find their identity in a White dominated society. The Narrator thinks that he is alive to support and gain recognition of white people. He spends many years trying to blend into society. Another example is Mr. Bledsoe. He is an African American person who puts blending into white society above his own people. He declares that he would bring down every African American before he loses his job. Ellison shows how African Americans try to join white society and those that have been excepted keep it as an accomplishment and would never give it away. The second intended outcome was to tell us about racial, white dominated society. He tells us that they discriminated African Americans and believed that every one of them was not a human. They also believed that every African American was a tool. The Narrator tells us that he was thrown into a battle royal for the white people to enjoy. Then after the battle, he was shown money, but it was a fake and a trick to entertain the white people. A second example is the statue of the founder. The Narrator sees that the statue shows a symbolism that white people still did not believe that African Americans were not entirely free. Another example is when the narrator is in the hospital. While he is at the hospital the doctor tests electrical shock therapy on the narrator and even tries to castrate him. The white people believe that African Americans are not entirely free and that they can be used for their own entertainment or for their testing. Cubans spend days under the hot sun and cold nights with little to eat or drink. Miranda was rewarded however with a four year $2.7 million deal with the New York Yankees. • 25. Reflection Paper On Public Speaking Throughout this Summer I have watched myself blossom into a more confident public speaker. Prior to this class, public speaking had never been a natural ability, and I was always afraid and full of anxiety before a speech. Speaking for more than a few minutes seemed to be an impossible task. Skills of knowing how to evaluate myself as a public speaker were absent, and I did not know how to become an effective listener. When starting the class I had little to no public speaking experience. I have never fully prepared a speech before or conducted research to gain the most information possible. Starting off with the Life in a Bag speech, I was not fully prepared and I had the idea that I would just present and say what came to mind. I was visibly nervous and I did not speak at an extemporaneous level. The amount of times Umm was said was most likely over 50, and I just couldn t get the words out. Making eye contact with anyone in the room was also absent. It was noticeable when eye contact was attempted that I would lose my current thought. When the speech was over I immediately regret not rehearsing the speech or at least planning what I was going to say. One thing I Believe I did correctly is bringing in five things that actually represent my personality. Following the Life in a Bag speech, it was time to prepare for the narrative speech. Picking a topic was more difficult than I originally thought. For a lot of people, (myself being one of them) picking a story to tell about yourself can cause the speaker to feel uncomfortable while presenting. The topic for the narrative speech did not need to be personal; however for me it seemed to be the most logical and easy way to go. I picked an embarrassing moment from my childhood when my sister replaced my toy from show and tell with a hairbrush. I looked over the notes that my peers had given me from my last speech and the biggest issues that needed to be fixed were making better eye contact, speaking at an extemporaneous level, and just being more prepared with what I was going to say. I prepared index cards for this speech, and I did rehearse my presentation which made me more fluent. When the time came to present I felt less nervous than I did for the ... Hitler And Antisemitism The experience of the war, economic crisis and the discontent caused by the conditions of the Treaty of Versailles created a favourable condition for a rise of utopian revolutionary movements such as Fascism in Italy and National Socialism in Germany. By placing the regeneration of the nation as one of their main objectives, they provided a dream of recreating a sense of community among the members of their nations whilst providing a sense of security through national myths and symbols, which left little or no room for those who were different. According to Mosse, war had transformed politics into a drama built upon shared emotions , and racism, thus, all too easily provided unity to this drama . Whereas the political domain in Germany was formed on the basis of racial thinking immediately after Hitler came to power, for Mussolini the racial laws were introduced later as a tool to give fascism a new dynamic. Racism represented the most radical initiative of the fascist project of remaking Italians as a way of regenerating the Italian nation. Although the racial law of fascist regime was based on Nuremberg laws, the racial thinking has been fused from the imperial policy on conquest of Ethiopia. In Italy, the racial law allowed to model new national identity by clearing it from foreign elements which were regarded as degenerative and having negative influence on the nation. Similarly, for Nazi Germany the desire to bring the nation to a common awareness of its ethnic and political unity required a common enemy in a face of the Jews. Thus Jews symbolised many things the Nazi wanted to destroy within the german society in order to achieve its resurrection. Essay on Rapid Growth of Nintendo Video Games Introduction Over the last 25 years the video game industry has grown rapidly, becoming a significant player in the media landscape, rivalling that of television. The industry is dominated by three key players, Sony, Microsoft and of course Nintendo, which will be centred on. The core strategy behind these global giants revolves around the same key idea, that money is to be made in software as development and manufacturing costs keep the consoles break even sales price from most consumer price points (Williams, 2002). It s called febrile infection related epileptic syndrome, more commonly known as FIRES. I happen to know one of the few people who have this type of epilepsy. Her name is Kailee, and she goes to my brother s school. She was even in some of his classes. This type of epilepsy occurs in school aged children between the ages of six and seventeen ( What is FIRES? ). It starts with a mild febrile illness that lasts anywhere from four days to two weeks. Febrile illness is when someone has a fever but they aren t sick with anything else ( Febrile Illness ). When Kaylee was at this point, her mom thought she had the flu. This is very common, as the flu presents itself as a fever in many children. Then, the child starts to have seizures. The seizures occur very quickly, and the child needs to be hospitalized immediately at this point. Some scientists think the disease is a result of an autoimmune response, while others think the seizures are caused by a malfunction in the metabolic process of some cells. Both of these theories have little evidence to support them. FIRES could be a result of the febrile illness that comes before the seizures. To play the console games, one has to load a game disk into a console or play station which has a connection to the television of the user. On the other hand, to play the PC games, one loads a game disk into the CD drive contained in a personal computer. With a lucrative and enormous market for video games, Sony inc. has managed to be the market leader with this unique technology (Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc., v. Bleem, LLC et al.
