The Pros And Cons Of Disabilities
The only disability in life is a bad attitude Scott Hamilton. People who are born physically impaired
do not let that define them or hold them back from being happy. Although, some may say people with
disabilities are treated equally even though they are handicapped, they are wrong. Handicapped people
are treated differently through social interactions because they are Handicapped. People s physical
disability will vary in everyone.
The word handicapped is first recorded in the late 19th century in the sense referring to a person s
mental or physical disabilities. In British English it was the standard term until the 1980s, but it has
been superseded by disabled, or, in reference to mental disability, expressions such as having learning
difficulties or learning disabled. In American English handicapped is still sometimes used, especially
in phrases such as handicapped accessible and handicapped parking. The International Classification
of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) defines disability as an umbrella term for impairments,
activity limitations and participation restrictions. Disability is the interaction between individuals with
a health condition (e.g. cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and depression) and personal and
environmental factors (e.g. negative attitudes, inaccessible transportation and public buildings, and
limited social supports). People have different ways of explaining and knowing what disability really
means.

The Evolution of Film Essay example
In the early times of narrative cinema there was litter pressure on the filmmakers for the evolution of
film forms before nickelodeons (Salt, 31) as cinema had not become a mass cultural product and film
was still just a novelty expected to die out like rock n roll. And so the demand was low and so the
supply could remain unoriginal. Mary Jane s Mishap was made in 1903 when multi scene films were
becoming popular (Salt, 32). Mary Jane s Mishap is notable for its use of experimental and inventive
shot transitions. It used a vertical wipe to instead of separate successive scenes (Salt, 32) (as it cuts to
a shot width a wider frame of the same locale) but to change the zoom level. This frame is essentially

In big bold letter PARRAFIN the flammable oil. Without this shot the viewer would be perplexed as to
why she exploded and allows the narrative to flow as it could be water or any other fluid for all they
know as cleverly Smith used this mise en scene to explain the narrative instead of an intertitle before
the explosion which would have removed all suspense, tension and mystery especially after she
moved to the cameras to show her gesturing a bright idea. Though this close up could also be argued
by Gunning of being of the cinema of attractions as For a time [in cinema] close ups were only used as
an attraction to see an images but larger than life but inciting visual curiosity (Gunning, pg 58) rather
being evolutionary towards narrative cinema. The close ups heighten the only [tool they] they have at
their disposal, a language of gestures (Burch, 224) musser idea
Mary Jane s Mishap combined the cinema of attraction trick film with the viewers want for narrative.
The decline in their [trick films] commercial importance was already evident by 1906 (Salt, 40) Smith
used a jump cut to create the illusion of Mary Jane exploding into smoke by subtracting her and
adding smoke in the successive shot. He also uses superimposition to create a ghost liken creature.
Like an avatar for its day. This shows narratives cinema still being influenced by the cinema of
attractions as to make an entertaining film.

The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by...
While reading the article, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by Walter
Benjamin, it is clear to grasp the idea being portrayed. The author is determined to prove to his readers
how the advancement of humanity has led to drastic changes in how we create and perceive artwork.
Mechanical reproduction of a work of art, however, represents something new. Historically, it
advanced intermittently and in leaps at long intervals, but with accelerated intensity. One of the
questions brought up in the article is: Has the aura of art been altered through its mechanical
reproduction? Walter Benjamin offers several strong examples to describe exactly what aura is and
how mechanical reproduction drastically alters this deep sensation in original artwork. Moreover, he
includes two key concepts of ritual and tradition throughout the article. The author does a good job of
explaining how the mechanical reproduction of artifacts can negatively influence the traditional form
of fine art. In other words, art was simply a craft that was man made before we had the ability to
duplicate it. The custom of creating art was considerably altered when mechanical reproduction
started. Hence, the original or traditional way of producing fine art was completely changed.
Secondly, Walter Benjamin uses the concept of ritual, which he has also clearly defined within his
article. Using context clues, we can deduce that he believes the aura of any art is never disconnected

Examples Of Honor Culture
A Culture of Honor Throughout the United State and the world, there is a concept known as a culture
of honor. In most society, a culture of honor it is common for people to avoid offending others
intentionally and to maintain a reputation of not accepting improper conduct. This type of culture can
commonly be seen in 4 types of environments: inner cities, frontier lands, southern United States, and
conflict zones. People in these areas tend to take action for themselves since authority is either not
trusted and/or not present. A culture of honor establishes how people handle conflict and disputes on
their own without interference from legal authority. One type of environment where a culture of honor
is present is in the inner city ghettos. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can include area like the Middle East, South Asia, and other regions. In these areas, legal
authority is often not trusted and weak due to the political unrest in the region. People also take great
offense when someone disgraces their culture and/or religion. An example of this is known as honor
killings. The women of the family or community, whose average age is 23, are often the main targets
for honor killings. These killing normally result from a suspicion that one is engaging in acts that
impinge on the family s and society s conservative views. This can include partaking in relationships
outside of marriage, refusal of an arranged marriage, seeking divorce, homosexual acts, and being a
victim of rape. The victims of honor killings are often murdered in the name of family honor for
bringing shame and disgrace to the family. In many cases, these killings occur within a family unit
between father daughter, husband wife, brother sister, etc. Since they occur so regularly, most honor
killings are not classified as such, are rarely prosecuted, or when prosecuted in the Muslim world,
result in relatively light sentences (Chesler, 2010). Due to the presence of the culture of honor, many
societies in the Middle East often turn a blind eye to the murders honor killings of thousands of

Essay on The Awakening
The Awakening
Analytical Essay THE AWAKENING Throughout Kate Chopin s, The Awakening, numerous scenes
of birth and renewal are depicted. Various symbols placed throughout the book show Edna Pontellier s
awakenings. For instance, many references are made to oceans and water. It is in the water that Edna
has her first rebirth, but it is also the place where she chooses to die. Water symbolizes life, which is
the reason that Edna s renewal takes place there, but it also symbolizes darkness and death. Birds,
which are featured frequently in the story, symbolize Edna, and in many cases they foreshadow what s
to become of her, or they show her renewal of life. The imagery of birds throughout the book is used
to symbolize freedom, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Birds are also major symbolic images in the story. Flight, which is associated with birds, acts as a
stand in for awakening. The ability to spread your wings and fly is a symbolic theme that occurs often
in the novel. Mademoiselle Reisz tells Edna quot;the bird that would soar above the level plain of
tradition and prejudice must have strong wings (138). She uses birds to forecast Edna s future and
evaluate Edna s strength. In order to soar like a bird, Edna must be strong, but Mademoiselle Reisz
realizes that Edna is weak. Reisz says, quot;it is a sad spectacle to see the weaklings bruised,
exhausted, fluttering back to earth quot; (138). Mademoiselle Reisz understands that Edna is not like
herself and cannot fight society. Later, when Edna realizes the hopelessness of her situation, birds,
once again, symbolically foreshadow her fate. Upon reaching the beach on her final walk, Edna looks
around and sees: quot;A bird with a broken wing was beating the air above, reeling, fluttering, circling
disabled down, down to the water quot; (189). This bird is the final omen that reflects Mademoiselle
Reisz s words: quot;it is sad to see the weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to earth quot;
(138). The bird, disabled and weakened because of its broken wing, falls back to earth and suffers
defeat. Edna soon does the same when she kills herself because she does not have quot;the

The French Nuclear Power Program
Nuclear Energy Nuclear energy provides France with most of its energy needs, about 80%. This type
of energy also emits almost no greenhouse gases, which is great for the Earth. France with this type of
energy meets its demand and even sells some energy for a profit in neighboring countries. Many
mistakes have been made in the production of energy using nuclear power plants, but if done right it
may be our future. Nuclear energy can be produced safely as shown in France in their French Nuclear
Power program (https//www.nuclearinfo.net). This program was launched in 1975 after the oil crisis
struck. Nuclear reactors are very complicated and can be dangerous unless they are safely managed.
The atom undergoes fission and it splits into smaller particles and releases energy. The incredible part
is that about 1 gram of Uranium produces as much energy as 3 tonnes coal which is 3000 kilograms.
With nuclear energy we would be wasting 3 million times less material compared to the other types of
energy sources like coal and other types of fossil fuels. This decreases the amount of waste produced
from manufacturing energy. There are different types of nuclear reactors and some of the common
ones are Pressurized Water Reactor, Boiling Water Reactor, High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor,
and Heavy Water Reactor. All of these types of reactors are all around world. The power plants have
factors such as control, safety, refueling, waste production and efficiency. To have control

Soil Pollution
Presently, most cars run on gasoline and thus gas stations are vital to our everyday life. In urban cities,
gas stations are found in just about every other corner. It has already been documented that burning
gasoline produces toxic fumes that contributes to air pollution, global warming, and many health
concerns. Soil surrounding a gas station can also be contaminated with gasoline and generate soil
pollution. In comparison with air, soil is more complex in composition and function. It functions as a
sink for pollutants, as a filter which delays the passage of chemicals to groundwater, and as a
bioreactor for organic life. Just as gas is a source of fuel for cars, soil is an essential component of the
earth s ecosystem. It serves as a home to many microbes and provides the necessary nutrients to plants
that dwell in it. The pondus hyrdogenii (pH) indicates a solution s acidity and alkalinity. A pH value of
7 is considered neutral. A solution with a pH between 0 to 7 is acid and one between 7 to 14 is
alkaline. Most biological organisms including plants have a very narrow range of pH values in which
environmental substrates can survive. Plants prefer acidic substances. This leads to the following
questions: Are gas stations in El Paso, Texas a contributing factor to soil contamination?
Do Gas Stations Cause Soil Contamination?
Soil around the world is a habitat for numerous plants and animals. However, every day, certain

Jack to sell his cow for money. Cinderella wants to go to the ball; Rapunzel wants to escape the tower

Where the twist comes in is when Lapine and Sondheim show how people get what they want. This

Research Paper On Aids
Although advancements in AIDS research have continued over the past 2 decades, the misconception
that people can contract the AIDS virus from sharing a drink is still prevalent. Aids is a major issue
throughout the world and kills many people. One of the problems with aids is that it can kill people. A
current solution for aids is there are medicines that people suffering from aids take and these
medicines increase a person with aids life span. A future plan for aids is to find a cure so that people
stop dying from aids. Aids is a recurring problem throughout history and it needs to be stopped so
people stop dying. Aids can spread through many ways but unprotected sex and sharing needles for
drugs are the main reasons aids spreads. This is a problem because people can have aids for years
without even knowing they have it so they can spread it through several people in their life whether
that be through drugs or sex. This is a problem because many people can get infected because of
this. Many people can get infected by one person who doesn t know they have aids. People who get are

Analysis Of The Film Dances With Wolves
The 1990 film Dances With Wolves directed by Kevin Costner covers a number of topics such as the
Civil War, westward expansion, and white Indian relations. Being set in the frontier during the Civil
War, the primary issue the film raises is the white cruelty towards Native Americans during this time
period. This film can be classified as a realistic historical fiction because it depicts the humanity and
morals of the Sioux Indians while, at the same time, showing how they were treated by the white
American soldiers.
Dances With Wolves starts out by introducing the main character, John Dunbar, as a soldier in the
Civil War. John is portrayed as a strong man because he refuses his foot to be amputated, and he rides
a horse out onto the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because he was dressed like an Indian, the soldiers treated him as such, beating and calling him a
traitor. When he did not return for a few days, the Indians knew something was wrong, and they sent a
search party. In the same way that John helped the Sioux fight the Pawnee, the Sioux were now
helping John fight the soldiers. The rescue attempt was successful and they all made it back to the
village. Although Dances With Wolves is not a historically accurate and true story of the Civil War, it
is a historical fiction that is based on many true facts. The film starts off with a very unrealistic
beginning. It is set in the Civil War, on a battlefield, and John Dunbar rides a horse openly right past
the opposing side without getting shot. This seems to be the only unrealistic part of this film, however.
For example, the Sioux Indians not being total savages was true. White people did treat all Indians
poorly, and they justified their actions by saying that all Indians are savages. This film shows that in
fact, not all Indians were cruel and bloodthirsty, the Pawnee were the only mean Indians depicted. The
Sioux are portrayed as mostly peaceful humans with great moral standards. They only fight when they
feel threatened, such as by the Pawnee tribe, or the white soldiers that imprisoned Dances With
Wolves (John Dunbar). Furthermore, the problem of white men hunting buffalo was also based on true
facts. The Indians did not feel that it was the white

Service are often an important part of the process of mourning. And ultimately, this process of deep
thinking and discovery creates a memorable and moving funeral experience for all who attend.
Why Have a Funeral?
When we pass through the death of someone we love, a funeral service fills several important needs.
There are two reasons why we have a funeral:
First, it provides for the honorable and respectful care of the person and special tribute to the life of
such a person.
Secondly, it helps those left behind to face the reality of death.
2. What meaningful choices are!
Meaningful choices are those informed funeral choices we make that help our family and friends to
create a meaningful funeral at the death of a loved one. The time of making meaningful choices is not
the time to deny your need to mourn and embrace painful feelings of grief in the coming days. Rather

were the travesties of the African Slave Trade.
However, that would change very quickly. Africa went from being the least colonized continent to
being an area for rampant European colonization. This sudden increase of European occupation
became known as The Scramble of Africa. For example, Within a couple of decades the small
European presence in isolated coastal communities seemed to extend across virtually every last nook

Africa and it extended in time from just the 1870s until the Boer War at the end of the century (
Maproom ). There were many contributing factors to the sudden increase of African imperialization.

Conservative social and religious leaders imposed women s restricted social roles. Women had to be

The Problem Of Digital Piracy
1.0 Situation Analysis 1.1 Introduction: Digital Piracy refers to the occurrence of unauthorized
copying of digital goods, documents, video and audio without the legal approval of the owners
(Lixuan Zhang Wayne William 2009). Software privacy is reported to cost the film industry an

Synthesis Of Alum From Aluminum Can Pieces
Synthesis of Alum from Aluminum Can Pieces *Marita John, Crystal Chacko, and Natalie Luera
CHEM 111 553 Introduction: There is a great demand in industries to recycle aluminum for a salt such
as dyeing of textiles, manufacturing of pickles, baking powder, leather tanning, and as a flocculant in
water purification, etc. The negative ionic charge of alum of potassium and its molecular structure
makes this compound unable to be absorbed by the skin, therefore, it is sometimes used as
antiperspirants by deodorant industries. The energy needed to produce new aluminum from the
secondary aluminum product through recycling s is less energy than creating brand new products of
aluminum. The main purpose is to synthesize alum, potassium aluminum ... Show more content on

A filter paper was added to the Büchner funnel. The faucet, which acted as a vacuum source, was
turned on. Before pouring the reaction mixture into the filter, the filter paper was wetted using distilled
water. A pair of tongs were used to transfer the reaction into the filter from the beaker. After most of
the reaction was in the filter, the beaker was rinsed twice with 5mL of distilled water each time. The
contents of the rinse in the beaker were emptied into the filter. After the filtration was complete and
the dark residue of the aluminum can pieces was separated from the clear reaction mixture, the filtrate
was transferred into another clean 250mL beaker. Then the filter flask was rinsed with 10mL of
distilled water and added to the filtrate in the new reaction beaker. Then 20mL of 6.0M sulfuric acid
was carefully added to the reaction beaker while being stirred with a stir rod. A stir bar was inserted
into the reaction and the beaker was put on top of a hot plate to dissolve the solids that formed. After
the solids were dissolved, the reaction was filtered with a vacuum filter as done previously. The
reaction beaker was cooled in an ice bath created by adding ice chips and water to a larger beaker for
the alum crystals to precipitate. The inside of the beaker was scratched with a stirring rod to facilitate
the formation of crystals. The vacuum filter was set up

Stargirl Case Study
1. The gift of the porcupine necktie prepared the way for other events by implying that Stargirl was
the necktie. Leo loved porcupine neckties ever since his uncle gave him one and he has always wanted
to collect a ton of them. As years go by he still cannot find another, until one year, on his birthday, he
receives one in the mail from an anonymous sender. This may have been suggesting that Leo had been
searching for someone special but couldn t find anyone, until Stargirl mysteriously showed up. 2.
Stargirl immediately became the target of gossip at school because she is weird and doesn t fit into any
crowd. Stargirl is pure hearted and unique. She loves rain, her pet rat, and making people smile. These
things may not always be acceptable and normal, but Stargirl didn t care about that. That s probably
why she stood out, she didn t care what people said like others do. 3. Leo and Kevin were especially
excited by the presence of this new student because they felt she would be the perfect guest on their
show. Leo and Kevin have a show called Hot Seat . In their show they interview strange, unique,
popular people. The only problem is there are no strange people in their school. So when Stargirl
appears it seems like their golden opportunity to make their show even more known and popular. 4.

An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Essay
Left to an End in An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge.
People need to realize that their actions could lead to bigger problems. For example, if one would rob
a bank, they face the consequence of being caught and going to jail for their whole life. That is exactly
what Peyton Farquhar faced in An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. Peyton wants to go North, hoping
for an opportunity. However, the problem is getting over the Owl Creek Bridge, where he has to prowl
his way out of the bridge and get past the soldiers surrounding it to finally get North. In his story An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, Ambrose Bierce uses the Owl Creek Bridge and the water under the
bridge to represent death.
In the story, the bridge shows a transition from imagination to reality. Peyton Farquhar was trying to
get back to his family as he was running away from the soldiers he got caught by at ... Show more

The bridge is the transition because he goes from being by the bridge to finally getting to his family.
The author states, Doubtless, despite his suffering, he had fallen asleep while walking, for now he sees
another scene perhaps he has merely recovered from his delirium (Bierce 6). Thinking he actually
passed out, Peyton actually had a transition from being in his mind to reality. He woke up from his
imagination and is hoping a close path to his family. As he pushes open the gate and passes up the
wide white walk, he sees a flutter of female garments; his wife, looking fresh and cool and sweet...
(Bierce 6). This scene shows that he finally got to his wife and is about to hug her. However, he dealt
through all of this to just go in another transition. As he went to hug his wife, imagination turns to
reality again and he is actually left hanging on the Owl Creek Bridge. This links with the claim due to
the two transitions from the bridge actually leading Farquhar to his tragic

The Value Of Financial Ratio Analysis
When the economy expands, most industries and companies benefit and grow with it and the reverse
is true, that is why it is important for analysts or even individual investors to keep an eye on the
economy to determine when it is going to be beneficial for them to invest their money. The economic
environment indicators assist these investors in determining the state of the economy. In this paper, I
will describe the methods used to assess the macroeconomic environment, discuss the value of
financial ratio analysis in the context of common stock investing and compare intrinsic value and
market price.

Employment indicators
The unemployment rate measures the rate at which the economy is operating at full capacity. It also
has its roots embedded in the great depression when the rate reached about 25% (rbcpa.com). The
unemployment rate is defined as the percentage of unemployed workers in the entire labor force
(Bodie, et al, 2011). When people are unemployed the economy loses their contribution in terms of
goods and services. The increase in the percentage of unemployed indicates the extent of economic
hardship faced by the nation, therefore it is important for policymakers to know the number of
unemployed workers in an economy in order to make better decisions in regards to the growth of the
economy.
Government fiscal and monetary policy
Fiscal policy is the ability of the federal government to increase and decrease its spending, if
government spending is zero, there will limited economic growth (Mitchell, 2005). Current
government borrowing shifts the burden to future generations to repay debt. An example of how this
policy has been used in the past to improve the economy is when the Federal Reserve System lowered
its discount rate and in early 2008 Congress passed the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 (govtrack.us).
The legislation gave taxpayers a tax rebate in the form of a check up to $600 for single filers, $1200
for married couples filing jointly (cnn.com). The hope was that consumers would take these checks
and spend them to help keep the economy moving

Persuasive Essay On Veganism
In today s society, our bodies have become the front image in all aspect of our lives.. Healthy living
styles and tips have exploded all over media across the United States. Veganism is one of the
upcoming lifestyles that thousands of families around the countries have adopted into their eating
habits. Beyond the health benefits of cutting out any and all animal products, veganism has become
the face to animal abuse, especially in the produce, handbag, and makeup industry. Companies like
People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) create projects and advertisements to encourage
people to go vegan. Recently, PETA has connected with Traci Bingham,a famous TV actor, to launch a
digital and poster advertisement. The advertisement displays Bingham s naked body painted like the
parts of farm factory animals used for produce in supermarkets. The advertisement All animals have
the same parts seeks to use ethos, pathos, logos, and kairos to argue that animals such as cattle have
the same body parts as people, and therefore are of equal value to human. Traci Bingham s credibility
with the sponsorship of PETA use the image of a naked woman to draw the desire of veganism to both
men and women in an era of health, fitness, and equality. Ethos and kairos are two rhetorical appeals
that this advertisement uses, referring to the credibility, or how trustworthy the source can be to draw
more people to believe it. PETA itself is one of the largest animal rights organizations, having

Power Control In Macbeth
How far would you go to ensure you were the ruler of a kingdom and the most powerful person of
royalty? Many people would do just about anything, up to including murder. The Witches in the story
told Macbeth of their prophecy and this added temptation and influence over Macbeth, but they
couldn t control his destiny. Macbeth exhibits the most control in comparison to the witches, and Lady
Macbeth. While the witches tell Macbeth about their prophecy, Lady Macbeth plants the seed to
murder the king, it is Macbeth who commits the murder. Although, in Macbeth, the three sisters and
Lady Macbeth exhibit some control on some events, Macbeth has the most responsibility over the
murders. Macbeth was responsible for his own actions which led him to be insecure and he continues
to commit murders as a result. The witches introduced the ideas and put thoughts in Macbeth s head,
but they were not responsible for macbeth s actions.
The witches tell Macbeth and Banquo of their premonition of Macbeth becoming King and Banquo s
sons being future Kings of Scotland. While Macbeth and Banquo pretend to not believe what the
witches have told them, Macbeth becomes obsessed with wanting to know more information about
him becoming King. The witches are responsible for delivering the prophecies that led to the master
plan to murder King Duncan. These Weird Sisters had, in sooth, no control over macbeth; their
prophecies no more annihilated his free will than the oracles of the Delphic

Venice, Veronica was able to attend exclusive events which afforded her the opportunity to express her

The Criticism Of Totalitarianism
Totalitarianism is a political system in which the state recognizes no limits to its authority and strives
to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever it can be done. A distinctive feature of
totalitarian governments is an elaborate ideology, a set of ideas that gives meaning and direction to the
society .
The concept was first developed in the 1920s by the Weimar German jurist, and later Nazi academic,
Carl Schmitt, and Italian fascists. Schmitt used the term, Totalstaat, in his influential work on the legal
basis of an all powerful state, The Concept of the Political (1927). The concept became prominent in
Western political discourse as a concept that highlights similarities between Fascist states and the
Soviet Union. The notion of totalitarianism as a total political power by the state was formulated in
1923 by Giovanni Amendola, who described Italian Fascism as a system fundamentally different from
conventional dictatorships. The term was later assigned a positive meaning in the writings of Giovanni
Gentile, Italy s most prominent philosopher and leading theorist of fascism. He used the term
totalitario to refer to the structure and goals of the new state, which were to give the total
representation of the nation and total guidance of national goals. He described totalitarianism as a
society in which the ideology of the state had influence, if not power, over most of its citizens.

African American Freedom And Injustice
The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without restraint, is what we know today as
Freedom. While an unjust act or occurrence is implied as Injustice. These two terms are examples of
the issues that many African Americans face daily in America. Freedom and Injustice could be
combined to define the term of Slavery. Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were
brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of
such lucrative crops as tobacco. It was practiced throughout the American colonies in the 17th and
18th centuries, and African American slaves helped build the economic foundations of the new nation.
Slavery was ultimately outlawed and laws prohibiting discrimination against African Americans
passed, racism against this community remains and is manifested in more subtle ways today. The song

different poems reflect this. In order to compare and contrast the traditions which have become
apparent within the poems; Night of the Scorpion by Nissim Ezekiel and Presents from my Aunts in
Pakistan by Moniza Alvi, further analysis must take place. With retrospect of the poem Night of the
Scorpion , the content explains the reactions of the villagers and surroundings to an incident whereby
the poet s mother was stung by a scorpion . It is
evident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The children do not portray the scorpion as a villain; however perceive the invertebrate s sting as a
mere caution for the mother as she advanced towards its hiding place.
In contrast, the adults refer to the scorpion as the evil one displaying signs of little understanding as to
why the scorpion took such drastic actions. It has therefore become apparent that there is a possible
culture divide within the one society.
The selective use of language not only identified Ezekiel s roller coaster of emotions but also unveils
his observations concerning the villagers. Although the neighbours are not clearly analysed
individually, this simply intensifies the effect Ezekiel has on the reader through the use of the pronoun
they . Further reinforcement is clear through the development of a simile comparing the villagers to
Swarms of flies , thus highlighting the irony, as
Ezekiel uses an insect s image to describe the people s reaction to an invertebrate s sting. Through a
combination of tone, alliteration, sound and repetition, Ezekiel adds emphasis to his judgements. It
became thought provoking that Ezekiel took different tones for different aspects of the event. A prime
example of this is pinpointed through Ezekiel s

Joy Womack Biography
I d like to contribute to this post because I have been following for a long time. Before I go on to
anything critical, I have to say I watch Joy Womack s vlogs every day and am highly appreciative of
the window into her life. Whether or not we all agree on her choices, she is sharing something unique
and is making her dreams come true before our very eyes.
I have actually followed her story since I came across the New York Times coverage on youtube when
she was fifteen. Back then she was so fascinating and just absorbed everything the Russian school was
giving her. Now she is older and more experienced, we are perhaps more inclined to think negatively
about her given the past few years events; an adult no longer a child.
I enjoy watching her dance, though I do see inconsistencies in her performances, depending on her
state of mind. I find her technique solid and highly classical, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She does seem to make some questionable choices with exactly how much she shares, things that
might jeopardize her professionalism, but nothing seems to have impacted her negatively yet. It does
give us something to talk about though, that we wouldn t otherwise know.
I am a bit dubious about her exhaustive self promotion. Most dancers do not share this desire, but I
like to think it is part of her creative side sharing her art with the world, as opposed to anything else.
I would also remind her prima friends how in control she is of what she actually shares with us. She
doesn t edit out falls or slips but there are times she cuts footage abruptly mid movement; the only
reason I can think is because of something she doesn t want us to see. I can t blame a dancer for
wanting us to see them at their best, but you can t have it both ways. You have to either share
everything or don t claim to. She also seems all over the place with her attitude to her

The Chemical Bank Case
Case Study: Chemical Bank * Sunil Rabertson Chikkala
PGXPM11
1) Describe the due bill controversy and how do you resolve it?
Below Four divisions of Chemical Bank involved in Due bill controversy: * Treasury Group *
Metropolitan Division * Trust and Investment Division * Finance Division
Treasury Group was responsible for investing Due Bill funds in greater interest generating markets
and for trading in secondary market. Metro Division sells Due bills to customer; Trust amp;

services. Finance division was responsible for Cost and profit allocation between divisions.
There were two reasons led to conflict between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Treasury division, Due Bills was huge profit generating product, managers/traders in that division
were keen on increasing Due Bill sales volume and there by profits. Whereas for Metro division it was
yet another product under many business/individual deposits they are dealing with. Considering costs
associated and amount of work involved with Due Bill, it was not critical to meet their goals.
To resolve this problem, Firstly I will analyze gaps in system in terms of cost allocation, revenue
sharing , transfer price and create a strategy to address gaps, motivate teams across divisions to work
towards company objectives.
2) What is the transfer price from metro branches to the treasury and vice versa?
Transfer pricing necessarily results from the exchanges of goods and services among the decentralized
units of company. a) Transfer prices are the monetary values assigned to these exchanges are transfers.
b) Fundamentally, all cost allocation is a form of transfer pricing. * Minimum Transfer price = Outlay
cost + opportunity cost to the company as a whole
As per the exhibit 4:
Assuming opportunity cost is zero as exchange of services was between the divisions of same
company. a) As per exhibit 4, there was no cost allocation between Treasury and Metro divisions,
hence transfer price will be:
Treasury to Metro was $0
Metro to treasury was $0 b) Considering

December 13, 2016 Abstract
This paper explores the history of Charleston Southern University located in the heart of the
Lowcountry in Charleston, South Carolina. With its core Christian values, Charleston Southern
achieves an atmosphere that most universities cannot. The history of this school can be pinpointed
back to 1964 when it was initially founded (University History and Milestones, 2015). The early years
were fairly rough, with low enrollment rates and very few majors being offered (Joslin, Merkling,
Strubel, 2014). However, the university went through countless changes that drove it to be the
successful school that it is today. Now, Charleston Southern University is an academically excellent
school and also a member of the NCAA Division I Big South Conference. This school started as
merely an idea and expanded into a thriving university full of thousands of students. ... Show more

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Disabilities The only disability in life is a bad attitude Scott Hamilton. People who are born physically impaired do not let that define them or hold them back from being happy. Although, some may say people with disabilities are treated equally even though they are handicapped, they are wrong. Handicapped people are treated differently through social interactions because they are Handicapped. People s physical disability will vary in everyone. The word handicapped is first recorded in the late 19th century in the sense referring to a person s mental or physical disabilities. In British English it was the standard term until the 1980s, but it has been superseded by disabled, or, in reference to mental disability, expressions such as having learning difficulties or learning disabled. In American English handicapped is still sometimes used, especially in phrases such as handicapped accessible and handicapped parking. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) defines disability as an umbrella term for impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions. Disability is the interaction between individuals with a health condition (e.g. cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and depression) and personal and environmental factors (e.g. negative attitudes, inaccessible transportation and public buildings, and limited social supports). People have different ways of explaining and knowing what disability really means. When people learn someone is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Evolution of Film Essay example In the early times of narrative cinema there was litter pressure on the filmmakers for the evolution of film forms before nickelodeons (Salt, 31) as cinema had not become a mass cultural product and film was still just a novelty expected to die out like rock n roll. And so the demand was low and so the supply could remain unoriginal. Mary Jane s Mishap was made in 1903 when multi scene films were becoming popular (Salt, 32). Mary Jane s Mishap is notable for its use of experimental and inventive shot transitions. It used a vertical wipe to instead of separate successive scenes (Salt, 32) (as it cuts to a shot width a wider frame of the same locale) but to change the zoom level. • 4. The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by... While reading the article, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by Walter Benjamin, it is clear to grasp the idea being portrayed. The author is determined to prove to his readers how the advancement of humanity has led to drastic changes in how we create and perceive artwork. Mechanical reproduction of a work of art, however, represents something new. Historically, it advanced intermittently and in leaps at long intervals, but with accelerated intensity. One of the questions brought up in the article is: Has the aura of art been altered through its mechanical reproduction? Walter Benjamin offers several strong examples to describe exactly what aura is and how mechanical reproduction drastically alters this deep sensation in original artwork. Moreover, he includes two key concepts of ritual and tradition throughout the article. The author does a good job of explaining how the mechanical reproduction of artifacts can negatively influence the traditional form of fine art. In other words, art was simply a craft that was man made before we had the ability to duplicate it. The custom of creating art was considerably altered when mechanical reproduction started. Hence, the original or traditional way of producing fine art was completely changed. Secondly, Walter Benjamin uses the concept of ritual, which he has also clearly defined within his article. Using context clues, we can deduce that he believes the aura of any art is never disconnected from its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In most society, a culture of honor it is common for people to avoid offending others intentionally and to maintain a reputation of not accepting improper conduct. This type of culture can commonly be seen in 4 types of environments: inner cities, frontier lands, southern United States, and conflict zones. People in these areas tend to take action for themselves since authority is either not trusted and/or not present. This can include area like the Middle East, South Asia, and other regions. In these areas, legal authority is often not trusted and weak due to the political unrest in the region. People also take great offense when someone disgraces their culture and/or religion. An example of this is known as honor killings. The women of the family or community, whose average age is 23, are often the main targets for honor killings. These killing normally result from a suspicion that one is engaging in acts that impinge on the family s and society s conservative views. This can include partaking in relationships outside of marriage, refusal of an arranged marriage, seeking divorce, homosexual acts, and being a victim of rape. The victims of honor killings are often murdered in the name of family honor for bringing shame and disgrace to the family. In many cases, these killings occur within a family unit between father daughter, husband wife, brother sister, etc. Since they occur so regularly, most honor killings are not classified as such, are rarely prosecuted, or when prosecuted in the Muslim world, result in relatively light sentences (Chesler, 2010). • 6. Essay on The Awakening The Awakening Analytical Essay THE AWAKENING Throughout Kate Chopin s, The Awakening, numerous scenes of birth and renewal are depicted. Various symbols placed throughout the book show Edna Pontellier s awakenings. For instance, many references are made to oceans and water. It is in the water that Edna has her first rebirth, but it is also the place where she chooses to die. Water symbolizes life, which is the reason that Edna s renewal takes place there, but it also symbolizes darkness and death. Flight, which is associated with birds, acts as a stand in for awakening. The ability to spread your wings and fly is a symbolic theme that occurs often in the novel. Mademoiselle Reisz tells Edna quot;the bird that would soar above the level plain of tradition and prejudice must have strong wings (138). She uses birds to forecast Edna s future and evaluate Edna s strength. In order to soar like a bird, Edna must be strong, but Mademoiselle Reisz realizes that Edna is weak. Reisz says, quot;it is a sad spectacle to see the weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to earth quot; (138). Mademoiselle Reisz understands that Edna is not like herself and cannot fight society. Later, when Edna realizes the hopelessness of her situation, birds, once again, symbolically foreshadow her fate. Upon reaching the beach on her final walk, Edna looks around and sees: quot;A bird with a broken wing was beating the air above, reeling, fluttering, circling disabled down, down to the water quot; (189). This bird is the final omen that reflects Mademoiselle Reisz s words: quot;it is sad to see the weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to earth quot; (138). • 7. The French Nuclear Power Program Nuclear Energy Nuclear energy provides France with most of its energy needs, about 80%. This type of energy also emits almost no greenhouse gases, which is great for the Earth. France with this type of energy meets its demand and even sells some energy for a profit in neighboring countries. Many mistakes have been made in the production of energy using nuclear power plants, but if done right it may be our future. Nuclear energy can be produced safely as shown in France in their French Nuclear Power program (https//www.nuclearinfo.net). This program was launched in 1975 after the oil crisis struck. Nuclear reactors are very complicated and can be dangerous unless they are safely managed. The atom undergoes fission and it splits into smaller particles and releases energy. The incredible part is that about 1 gram of Uranium produces as much energy as 3 tonnes coal which is 3000 kilograms. With nuclear energy we would be wasting 3 million times less material compared to the other types of energy sources like coal and other types of fossil fuels. This decreases the amount of waste produced from manufacturing energy. There are different types of nuclear reactors and some of the common ones are Pressurized Water Reactor, Boiling Water Reactor, High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor, and Heavy Water Reactor. All of these types of reactors are all around world. The power plants have factors such as control, safety, refueling, waste production and efficiency. To have control ... • 8. Soil Pollution Presently, most cars run on gasoline and thus gas stations are vital to our everyday life. In urban cities, gas stations are found in just about every other corner. It has already been documented that burning gasoline produces toxic fumes that contributes to air pollution, global warming, and many health concerns. Soil surrounding a gas station can also be contaminated with gasoline and generate soil pollution. In comparison with air, soil is more complex in composition and function. It functions as a sink for pollutants, as a filter which delays the passage of chemicals to groundwater, and as a bioreactor for organic life. Just as gas is a source of fuel for cars, soil is an essential component of the earth s ecosystem. It serves as a home to many microbes and provides the necessary nutrients to plants that dwell in it. The pondus hyrdogenii (pH) indicates a solution s acidity and alkalinity. A pH value of 7 is considered neutral. A solution with a pH between 0 to 7 is acid and one between 7 to 14 is alkaline. Most biological organisms including plants have a very narrow range of pH values in which environmental substrates can survive. Plants prefer acidic substances. This leads to the following questions: Are gas stations in El Paso, Texas a contributing factor to soil contamination? Do Gas Stations Cause Soil Contamination? • 11. Analysis Of The Film Dances With Wolves The 1990 film Dances With Wolves directed by Kevin Costner covers a number of topics such as the Civil War, westward expansion, and white Indian relations. Being set in the frontier during the Civil War, the primary issue the film raises is the white cruelty towards Native Americans during this time period. This film can be classified as a realistic historical fiction because it depicts the humanity and morals of the Sioux Indians while, at the same time, showing how they were treated by the white American soldiers. Dances With Wolves starts out by introducing the main character, John Dunbar, as a soldier in the Civil War. Although Dances With Wolves is not a historically accurate and true story of the Civil War, it is a historical fiction that is based on many true facts. The film starts off with a very unrealistic beginning. It is set in the Civil War, on a battlefield, and John Dunbar rides a horse openly right past the opposing side without getting shot. This seems to be the only unrealistic part of this film, however. For example, the Sioux Indians not being total savages was true. White people did treat all Indians poorly, and they justified their actions by saying that all Indians are savages. This film shows that in fact, not all Indians were cruel and bloodthirsty, the Pawnee were the only mean Indians depicted. The Sioux are portrayed as mostly peaceful humans with great moral standards. They only fight when they feel threatened, such as by the Pawnee tribe, or the white soldiers that imprisoned Dances With Wolves (John Dunbar). Furthermore, the problem of white men hunting buffalo was also based on true facts. The Indians did not feel that it was the white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Power Control In Macbeth How far would you go to ensure you were the ruler of a kingdom and the most powerful person of royalty? Many people would do just about anything, up to including murder. The Witches in the story told Macbeth of their prophecy and this added temptation and influence over Macbeth, but they couldn t control his destiny. Macbeth exhibits the most control in comparison to the witches, and Lady Macbeth. While the witches tell Macbeth about their prophecy, Lady Macbeth plants the seed to murder the king, it is Macbeth who commits the murder. Although, in Macbeth, the three sisters and Lady Macbeth exhibit some control on some events, Macbeth has the most responsibility over the murders. Macbeth was responsible for his own actions which led him to be insecure and he continues to commit murders as a result. The witches introduced the ideas and put thoughts in Macbeth s head, but they were not responsible for macbeth s actions. The witches tell Macbeth and Banquo of their premonition of Macbeth becoming King and Banquo s sons being future Kings of Scotland. While Macbeth and Banquo pretend to not believe what the witches have told them, Macbeth becomes obsessed with wanting to know more information about him becoming King. It has therefore become apparent that there is a possible culture divide within the one society. The selective use of language not only identified Ezekiel s roller coaster of emotions but also unveils his observations concerning the villagers. Although the neighbours are not clearly analysed individually, this simply intensifies the effect Ezekiel has on the reader through the use of the pronoun they . Further reinforcement is clear through the development of a simile comparing the villagers to Swarms of flies , thus highlighting the irony, as Ezekiel uses an insect s image to describe the people s reaction to an invertebrate s sting.
