TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENT’S ACTIVITIES
A.Preparation (5 minutes)
“Good Morning Class...”
“How’s your day my dear students?”
“It’s nice to hear that! Before anything else,
may I request everyone to please stand for a
prayer to be lead by Geniesa.
“Thank you . Before you may take
your seats, kindly pick up some pieces of
paper under your armchair and after that,
please go back to your permanent seat
because I will
“Good Morning Sir!”
“It’s good Sir.”
(Students follow what their teacher requested
to them)
Geniesa: “Let us all put ourselves in the
presence of the Lord as we say, In the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit, Amen.
“Our Father…”
(Everyone is praying.)
“Yes Sir.”

check your attendance according to your seat
plan.
Who can recall on what we had discussed last
meeting? Yes, Malou?
What are polygons?
Very good Zyra.
Who can give examples of polygons?
Thank you Sabueto.
Malou: Last meeting we discussed about
polygons.
Zyra: Polygons are plane figure formed by
three or more segments such that each
segments intersects with exactly two others
and no segments with a common endpoint are
collinear
Sabueto: The example of polygons are
Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Pentagon, Hexagon,
Heptagon, Octagon, Nonagon, Decagon and
etc.
B. Motivation (5 minutes)
“This morning we will discuss another lesson
but before we will proceed to our proper
discussion let us have first an activity. I will
divide the class into two teams. This side will
be the Team A and the other side will be the
Team B.
Okay, are you familiar with the game
“BRING ME”?
The instruction is you will bring the objects
that I will ask from you and anyone from the
group who can bring the exact object to me,
each group member will get 5 points each.
You will only be given a maximum of 1
minute to find the particular object.
Are you ready?
Objects to bring:
 Botton
 Coins
 Circular bracelets
 Round strip of paper
 Circular plate
 Cover of Circular food
container or any container
 Water bottle cap
The winner is.....
Thank you for your cooperation class! Let’s
give ourselves a VIVA applause!
“Yes Sir.”
“Okay Sir.”
“Yes Sir!!!”
(Students provide the objects)
(Students do the VIVA applause.)

C. Presentation
From the activity that we have done what do
you think is our lesson for today? Anyone?
Yes Rowel?
Brilliant idea, so our topic for today is all
about circles, but we will not just discuss
what a circle is, we will also discuss the terms
related to a circle and its parts.
.
( Rowel is raising his hand)
Student: I think it’s about circles Sir.
D. Discussion Proper (20 minutes)
Let’s discuss first what a circle is. Anyone
who has idea if what a circle is? Yes Shaira?
Okay very good! That is one of the
definitions of a circle.
In other words, a circle is the set of all points
in a plane that are the same distance from a
fixed point called the center.
I have here a circle, what do you see inside
the circle? Yes Sabino?
 A
Okay, there is a point at the center of the
circle, this point is called the center or the
central point. Circles are named through
their central point. So, what is the name of
this circle?
Very good!
Next is the radius. What is a radius?
Based on the definition who can draw a
radius in circle A? Okay Cadiz.
Shaira: For me, a circle is a perfectly round
shape.
Sabino: I can see a point located at the center
of the circle.
Students: Circle A Sir.
Students: A radius is a line segment joining
the center and a point on the circle.

lOMoARcPSD|26006789
Very good Cadiz!
If we write B on the other end of the radius
then we have now segment AB as the radius
of circle A.
All radii in a circle have equal length. Radii is
the plural form for radius.
The other part of a circle is diameter. What is
a diameter?
A diameter divides the circle into two equal
parts. Also, the measurement of the diameter
is twice the measurement of the radius and
the central point is the midpoint of the
diameter. Anyone who can draw a diameter in
the circle?
Yes Rhea?
If we write C and D at the endpoints of the
diameter then we have segment CD as the
diameter of circle A. Let’s say, the radius of
circle A is 4 cm how long is the diameter of
the circle? Yes Regilyn?
Very good!
The next part of a circle is chord. What is a
chord?
Let’s draw a chord in the circle.
B
D
 A
C
E
We have segment CE as an example of a
chord. So, now I have a question, are all

Students: Diameter is a line segment that
passes through the center of the circle.

endpoints are on a circle.

diameters considered as chords and are all
chords considered as diameters? Come think
of it class.
Yes Zydel!
Very well said Zydel!
Let’s proceed to the next term related to a
circle which is a secant. What is a secant?
Anyone who can draw a secant in the circle?
Yes Abijah?
Very Good Abijah. We have line DE as an
example of a secant.
Then, another term related to a circle is
tangent. What is a tangent?
Who can give me the tangent of circle A?
Lydell please.
Very Good Liddell. The point where a
tangent line touches or intersects the circle is
called the point of tangency.
From the illustration, what is the point of
tangency? Yes Dan?
Very Good. So, these are the parts of a circle.
Do you have any questions? Clarifications?
Zydel: Apparently, all diameters are
considered as chords but not all chords are
considered as diameters because not all chords
passes through the center of the circle.
Students: A secant is any line, ray, or segment
that contains a chord. It is a line that
intersects a circle in two points.

“To further enhance your knowledge, let’s do
some more examples.”
Please look at the figure in the screen and
read the instructions carefully.

Application (10 minutes)
Before we will proceed to our next activity,
can you sight any experience of yours on how
circles are used in our daily lives? Yes
Ashley?
Very good Ashley! Anyone who has another
idea to share?
Very Good class. You really understand our
lesson for this morning.
At this very moment, you are going to apply
what you have learned to real-life situations.
We will have another activity. I’m going to
divide you into four groups. Please count 1 to
4 starting from you Radjian.
Group 1 stay here, Group 2 stay there, Group
3 stay on that side, and Group stay on the
other side. Transfer silently class and don’t
disarrange the chairs.
Are you now in your group class?
I have here a problem: An electronic and
communication engineer designed a circular
disk to be put up in a call center building.
Before he installs the disk, he let his men
check
Ashley: For me sir, circle is used in our daily
lives like the different things that we used in
our house like clocks, circular plates, circular
tables and chairs.
(students share their insights )
(The students are counting.)

the disk and its parts. Supposed, I am the
engineer and you are my working men, what
are now the parts of the circular disk? Identify
the radius, chord, diameter, secant and tangent
given the figure.
You will be only given 5 minutes to do the
task.
Your time starts now.
Okay time is up. May I call on the
representative of group 1 to please stand and
tell us what you’ve done? The rest of the
group please listen and check your answers.
Very Good. All groups did it correctly. Let’s
give everyone a “YES” applause for a job
well done.
Geneisa: Our Group’s answer is
(Students do the applause.)
G. Abstraction/Generalization
(3 minutes)
So, who will give now the recap of the things
that we have discussed today?
Excellent Keith! The point where a tangent
line touches or intersects the circle is called
the point of tangency.
So, you know already the parts or the terms
related to a circle?
Are you now ready for a test?
Keith: As a recap, a circle is the set of all
points in a plane that are the same distance
from a fixed point called the center. The parts
of a circle are center or central point, radius,
diameter, chord, secant and tangent.
Students: Yes, Sir.
Students: Yes, Sir.

PROCEDURE TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENT’S ACTIVITIES A.Preparation (5 minutes) “Good Morning Class...” “How’s your day my dear students?” “It’s nice to hear that! Before anything else, may I request everyone to please stand for a prayer to be lead by Geniesa. “Thank you . Before you may take your seats, kindly pick up some pieces of paper under your armchair and after that, please go back to your permanent seat because I will “Good Morning Sir!” “It’s good Sir.” (Students follow what their teacher requested to them) Geniesa: “Let us all put ourselves in the presence of the Lord as we say, In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. “Our Father…” (Everyone is praying.) “Yes Sir.” (Students go back to their proper seats) Downloaded by buenaflor lituco (buenaflordlituco@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|26006789
  • 4. check your attendance according to your seat plan. Who can recall on what we had discussed last meeting? Yes, Malou? What are polygons? Very good Zyra. Who can give examples of polygons? Thank you Sabueto. Malou: Last meeting we discussed about polygons. Zyra: Polygons are plane figure formed by three or more segments such that each segments intersects with exactly two others and no segments with a common endpoint are collinear Sabueto: The example of polygons are Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Pentagon, Hexagon, Heptagon, Octagon, Nonagon, Decagon and etc. B. Motivation (5 minutes) “This morning we will discuss another lesson but before we will proceed to our proper discussion let us have first an activity. I will divide the class into two teams. This side will be the Team A and the other side will be the Team B. Okay, are you familiar with the game “BRING ME”? The instruction is you will bring the objects that I will ask from you and anyone from the group who can bring the exact object to me, each group member will get 5 points each. You will only be given a maximum of 1 minute to find the particular object. Are you ready? Objects to bring:  Botton  Coins  Circular bracelets  Round strip of paper  Circular plate  Cover of Circular food container or any container  Water bottle cap The winner is..... Thank you for your cooperation class! Let’s give ourselves a VIVA applause! “Yes Sir.” “Okay Sir.” “Yes Sir!!!” (Students provide the objects) (Students do the VIVA applause.) • 5. C. Presentation From the activity that we have done what do you think is our lesson for today? Anyone? Yes Rowel? Brilliant idea, so our topic for today is all about circles, but we will not just discuss what a circle is, we will also discuss the terms related to a circle and its parts. . ( Rowel is raising his hand) Student: I think it’s about circles Sir. D. Discussion Proper (20 minutes) Let’s discuss first what a circle is. Anyone who has idea if what a circle is? Yes Shaira? Okay very good! That is one of the definitions of a circle. In other words, a circle is the set of all points in a plane that are the same distance from a fixed point called the center. I have here a circle, what do you see inside the circle? Yes Sabino?  A Okay, there is a point at the center of the circle, this point is called the center or the central point. Circles are named through their central point. So, what is the name of this circle? Very good! Next is the radius. What is a radius? Based on the definition who can draw a radius in circle A? Okay Cadiz. Shaira: For me, a circle is a perfectly round shape. Sabino: I can see a point located at the center of the circle. Students: Circle A Sir. Students: A radius is a line segment joining the center and a point on the circle. Downloaded by buenaflor lituco (buenaflordlituco@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|26006789
  • 6. Very good Cadiz! If we write B on the other end of the radius then we have now segment AB as the radius of circle A. All radii in a circle have equal length. Radii is the plural form for radius. The other part of a circle is diameter. What is a diameter? A diameter divides the circle into two equal parts. Also, the measurement of the diameter is twice the measurement of the radius and the central point is the midpoint of the diameter. Anyone who can draw a diameter in the circle? Yes Rhea? If we write C and D at the endpoints of the diameter then we have segment CD as the diameter of circle A. Let’s say, the radius of circle A is 4 cm how long is the diameter of the circle? Yes Regilyn? Very good! The next part of a circle is chord. What is a chord? Let’s draw a chord in the circle. B D  A C E We have segment CE as an example of a chord. So, now I have a question, are all B  A Students: Diameter is a line segment that passes through the center of the circle. (Students are raising their hands) B D  A C Regilyn: The diameter is 8 cm Sir. Students: A chord is a line segment whose endpoints are on a circle. • 7. diameters considered as chords and are all chords considered as diameters? Come think of it class. Yes Zydel! Very well said Zydel! Let’s proceed to the next term related to a circle which is a secant. What is a secant? Anyone who can draw a secant in the circle? Yes Abijah? Very Good Abijah. We have line DE as an example of a secant. Then, another term related to a circle is tangent. What is a tangent? Who can give me the tangent of circle A? Lydell please. Very Good Liddell. The point where a tangent line touches or intersects the circle is called the point of tangency. From the illustration, what is the point of tangency? Yes Dan? Very Good. So, these are the parts of a circle. Do you have any questions? Clarifications? Zydel: Apparently, all diameters are considered as chords but not all chords are considered as diameters because not all chords passes through the center of the circle. Students: A secant is any line, ray, or segment that contains a chord. It is a line that intersects a circle in two points. B  A C E D Students: It is a line that intersects a circle at exactly one point. B  A C E D Dan: Point B sir. Downloaded by buenaflor lituco (buenaflordlituco@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|26006789
  • 8. Students: None Sir. F. Drill/Enrichment Activities (5 minutes) “To further enhance your knowledge, let’s do some more examples.” Please look at the figure in the screen and read the instructions carefully. From the illustration, name or identify all chords, diameter, radii, secant, tangent, point of tangency and the center of the circle. • 9. C  A E I F H (Students participated every time their teacher asked them.) Application (10 minutes) Before we will proceed to our next activity, can you sight any experience of yours on how circles are used in our daily lives? Yes Ashley? Very good Ashley! Anyone who has another idea to share? Very Good class. You really understand our lesson for this morning. At this very moment, you are going to apply what you have learned to real-life situations. We will have another activity. I’m going to divide you into four groups. Please count 1 to 4 starting from you Radjian. Group 1 stay here, Group 2 stay there, Group 3 stay on that side, and Group stay on the other side. Transfer silently class and don’t disarrange the chairs. Are you now in your group class? I have here a problem: An electronic and communication engineer designed a circular disk to be put up in a call center building. Before he installs the disk, he let his men check Ashley: For me sir, circle is used in our daily lives like the different things that we used in our house like clocks, circular plates, circular tables and chairs. (students share their insights ) (The students are counting.) “Okay sir” “Yes Sir.” Downloaded by buenaflor lituco (buenaflordlituco@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|26006789
  • 10. the disk and its parts. Supposed, I am the engineer and you are my working men, what are now the parts of the circular disk? Identify the radius, chord, diameter, secant and tangent given the figure. You will be only given 5 minutes to do the task. Your time starts now. Okay time is up. May I call on the representative of group 1 to please stand and tell us what you’ve done? The rest of the group please listen and check your answers. Very Good. All groups did it correctly. Let’s give everyone a “YES” applause for a job well done. Geneisa: Our Group’s answer is (Students do the applause.) G. Abstraction/Generalization (3 minutes) So, who will give now the recap of the things that we have discussed today? Excellent Keith! The point where a tangent line touches or intersects the circle is called the point of tangency. So, you know already the parts or the terms related to a circle? Are you now ready for a test? Keith: As a recap, a circle is the set of all points in a plane that are the same distance from a fixed point called the center. The parts of a circle are center or central point, radius, diameter, chord, secant and tangent. Students: Yes, Sir.
