Employee Relationships And Patient Satisfaction
Introduction
Employee engagement surveys are probably the most common way leaders can understand what their
employees are thinking about their jobs and the organization. Currently ninety two percent of
companies use this method. (Hadjistoyanova, 2016) In the healthcare setting there is a direct link
between employee attitudes and patient satisfaction. (Powell, 2001) Improving patient satisfaction is
critical. Hospital reimbursement rate from Medicare and Medicaid revolves around the Hospital
Consumer Assessment of Healthcare providers and Systems (HCAHPS), the federal system that
monitors patient satisfaction and patient readmission rate. (HCAHPS, 2016) Without employee
engagement, you re never going to get the kind of ultimate patient experience you re hoping for says
Mike Packnett, CEO of Parkview Health. (Kruse, 2015)
Employee satisfaction doesn t necessarily mean employees are engaged. Employees can be happy,
show up for work daily, but that doesn t mean they are being productive or mindful of patient s needs.
When employees are engaged, they care. Examples would be a hospital employee making eye contact
with visitors and patients, another would be a night shift worker being aware of quiet time during their
shift. (Kruse, 2015) Leaders need to know what drives employees engagement. Leaders that behave
consistently with the organizations core values and show a sincere interest in the employee s well
being have been a link to improving employee engagement.

same name in excess of 150 years back. From humble beginnings in the French field, Vuitton s

Presently, with Marc Jacobs in charge as innovative chief since 1997, the house has extended its
putting forth to incorporate packs, apparel, shoes, frill and adornments, making it a standout amongst
the most profitable extravagance marks on the planet.
Vuitton was conceived on August 4, 1821 in Anchay, a little common laborers settlement in the east of

Black Ivory Research Paper
Outside of the potential cooperation problems between local and national governments, there is also
the cultural issue that many farmers and villagers do not respect elephants. Because elephants are
creatures of habit, they follow the same migration paths that their ancestors have for decades. Due to
the increased agriculture in African villages, elephants often cross right through small farms or
villages, destroying crops and small structures. Many African villagers who have had these encounters
with elephants do not understand the Western fascination and obsession with saving an animal they
perceive as a large, more destructive cockroach.
Another issue is the perspective of those in Asia. Ivory has always been a symbol of wealth in Asia.
Those who can afford to buy full tusks often commission experienced artists to carve intricate scenes
and designs into the tusk for display in their homes. Although the resulting artwork is beautiful and the
preservation of tradition is important, another medium should be used in order to create these art
pieces, one that does not result in the decimation of a keystone species.
The other purpose of buying ivory is medicinal. The rhino horn and ... Show more content on

African national governments have mostly chosen to ignore the issue due to the extensive corruption
present in police forces, business leaders, and influential politicians. Tanzanian intelligence agencies
provided President Jakaya Kikwete with a list of corrupted businessmen and politicians involved in
the black ivory market; however, this list has disappeared, according to The Guardian journalist
Hannah McNeish (2015). Politicians have been fired for naming corrupt officials in Tanzanian
government, and nationwide laws were passed that criminalize the publication of elephant population
statistics so as not to influence upcoming national elections in

Everyday Use Heritage
In Everyday Use by Alice Walker, there is a clear depiction of heritage and what it is; equally, there is
also the image of how it may be construed. In the story, the reader is introduced into the life of an
African American family who live in a small house and struggle financially. It is a life that has been
lived by many throughout in history. Through the use of symbolism, Walker interprets the American
Dream as unique to each individual and the possibility to lose it in the chaos of life. Immediately, the
reader is introduced to a family who doesn t live at the top of the socioeconomic pyramid. A family
who, although live comfortably compared to many, still maintain the ideals of which they came from.

Collectively, these will lead to more opportunities for prosperity and success. These ideals are rooted
from the Declaration of Independence, which states that, All men are created equal with the right to

family have completely opposite outcomes in life. As Dee chooses to live a different life of that which
she was brought into, and Maggie s choosing the path of inheritance, culture, and tradition. In the eyes
of the world, it would seem that Dee is living the American Dream ; however, in the eyes of her
family, Maggie is the one living the dream. She is true to their culture and traditions, which they hope
she will keep alive. This is perhaps the most important thing that the family has to pass on. She may

Essay on Canadian Firearms Program
Case Study: Individual Preparation Report
Name: Maruf Hashem
Date: January 30, 2013
Case Title: Canadian Firearms Program
Introduction
Gun violence is serious social problem and Canada has a long history of firearms control. However,
increasing costs to the Canadian Firearms Program (CFP) has made it a lightning rod for criticism
from both pro and anti gun advocates. Reports out of the media and Auditor General Sheila Fraser
paint a picture of inefficiency, incompetence and mismanagement.
This paper looks at the main issues faced by decision makers, analyses them, presents alternatives and
makes recommendations based on the analysis.
Key Issues (10 marks)
Issue 1 (Most Important Issue):
The first and most important issue to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Analysis (10 marks)
In dealing with the first issue, there are two distinct schools of thought. One led by gun advocates
stating the irrelevance of gun control in reducing crimes while the other claiming its importance.
The main argument against is the notion that no would be criminal would ever comply with it thereby
diminishing, if not eliminating its effectiveness. Opponents also point to the steadily declining gun
related deaths as evidence against any control. Proponents on the other hand point out that this
reduction is due to fewer suicides rather than homicides. Opponents also argue that controlling gun
access will only create a thriving black market for firearms.
Proponents of the program state that the registry system is an invaluable tool for law enforcement
officials. It helps to track firearms and assist in solving cases, while respecting the rights of law
abiding citizens to own guns.
Judging by the figures presented (exhibit 2) in the case, the sheer volume of queries appear to indicate
that the registry indeed is an essential tool for police. In fact, law enforcement officers who are a key
stakeholder in this program are in favor of it. The argument of a thriving black market can be
reasonable disregarded, as there is no data to support it.
Now, even if there is a necessity for a registry program, it still has to be efficient.

The Outsiders Righteousness Quotes
An individual has the responsibility of doing what is right and remaining unbiased to those who are
different from themselves to reach a better understanding and tolerance to those around them. These
responsibilities and acts are the prime ingredients for a socially sustainable society, as the individual
actively contributes to the betterment of society through his individual acts of righteousness. In the
novel The Outsiders , written by S.E. Hinton in 1965, a haphazard society is portrayed through the
memoirs of the protagonist, Ponyboy. In this novel, S.E. Hinton demonstrates the struggles and efforts
of individuals who stray from the typical hostility felt between the two gangs, the Greasers and the
Socs, and an individual s effort to reach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accordingly, society begins to form an understanding of the individual s circumstances and develops a
tolerance and acknowledgment towards them and those facing similar issues, creating a togetherness
in the otherwise separate groups in society. As a greaser, Ponyboy experiences many difficulties and
obstacles through the novel The Outsiders . After the dramatic occurrences, Ponyboy decides to write
about his experiences as homework for his English class, his intention is depicted in the quote,
Someone should tell their side of the story, and maybe people would understand them and wouldn t be
so quick to judge a boy by the amount of hair oil he wore. His use of symbolism by representing hair
oil as a common trait of a particular group, he refers to the misconceptions society has towards these
groups and seeks to establish an understanding between society and himself as well as others
experiencing prejudices made by society. Ponyboy describes others in similar situations in this quote,
Hundreds of boys who maybe watched sunsets and looked at stars and ached for something better. He
is, in fact, using himself as a symbol of Greaser in order to establish a connection and convey a sense
of humanity that is portrayed in his memoirs. Ponyboy expresses himself through writing about lays

Unburned Vegetation Survey
Results The percent coverage of the four types of vegetation was calculated using the data that we
gathered in this experiment. The values for the f tests and t tests were also calculated in this
experiment for the four different types of vegetation as well as for the DBH of species in burned and
unburned sites. The percent coverage of woody vegetation in burned sites: 27.8125% ± 29.83%, is
higher than that the percent coverage of woody vegetation in unburned sites: 15.25% ± 14.69%
(Figure 1). Grasses in burned areas also have higher percent coverage than the percent coverage of
grasses in unburned areas: 36.75% ± 30.01% for grasses compared to 5.125% ± 6.49% in the grasses
(Figure 1). The percent coverage of annuals perennials in burned ... Show more content on

The F test values in canopies (0.031271512) and sub canopies (0.005008424) are both below 0.05 so
we can say with 92% confidence that the canopy structures in burned and unburned areas differ and
with 97% confidence that the sub canopies vary between the burned and unburned areas. Unburned
areas tended to have better developed structures of canopy and sub canopy trees because they were
given more time to accumulate compared to recently burned areas which have recently undergone a
disturbance. The F test value for DBH (0.022472008) is also below 0.05 so we also have to assume
that there is variance in terms of DBH in burned and unburned sites. Unburned sites have larger trees
(larger DBH) because these trees had more time to grow compared to trees in recently burned sites.
Since the F tests values for the logs (0.076083352) and shrubs (0.340469754) were calculated to be
above 0.05, we are not able to draw definitive conclusions on this data, therefore we have to assume
that the logs and shrub structures did not vary within the burned and unburned sites (Klowden et al.
2015). Succession is evident in this experiment as there is an overall greater percent coverage of
grasses, woody plants, and annuals perennials in burned areas compared to open space. Open space is
greatest in unburned areas and there is more open space in unburned areas than burned areas; this is
mainly because the woody plants in unburned areas store lots of nutrients within themselves, therefore
having less grasses and smaller plants on forest floors (Dickman et al 2014). Five different species of
canopy trees were identified in unburned sites compared to only three species of canopy trees
identified in burned sites which allows me to conclude that there is more diversity in the species of
canopy trees in unburned areas than burned areas. There may have been more types of species found
in unburned

An Overview Of Parkinson Disease
An Overview of Parkinson Disease Parkinson disease (PD) is a condition consisting of many
unanswered questions. What causes it? Is it a genetic disorder? How will an individual know if they
will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime? The list of enquiries one might present is endless. However,
before even attempting to answer any questions, it is essential to understand the disease as a whole. In
order to do so, grasping basic background information as well as data on PD is necessary. Following
that, discussing material regarding the science behind the disease will provide a deeper understanding
when examining the subsequent etiologies, signs, and symptoms. From a historical perspective, PD
was first described in 1817 by James ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to understand the possible etiology and the signs and symptoms, it is important to first
recognize the science of PD and what happens neurologically. Nolden, Tartavoulle, and Porche (2014)
explain that the brain structures affected by the disease are known as the substantia nigra and the basal
ganglia. The role of the basal ganglia is to provide control of fine motor movements. What happens
with PD, is there is a loss of dopamine producing neurons from the substantia nigra which causes a
deficiency in dopamine levels. Without a sufficient amount of dopamine, there are not enough
chemical messages being transmitted to initiate, control, and balance movement of the target muscles.
It is worth noting though, that dopamine levels decrease naturally as one ages, so symptoms could
become more aggressive and prevalent the older an individual gets. Fallon et al. (2015) explains that
the dying cells contain Lewy bodies, defined as protein aggregates, which allow the disease to be
identified. However, it is still undetermined what all factors cause the degeneration of those brain cells
and PD as a whole. PD is a disease of mostly unknown etiology; however, there have been links to
various factors from environmental influences to genetics (Galifianakis Ghazinouri, 2014). First of all,
it is necessary to mention that the suspected environmental factors are hard to come by for they are
merely risk factors. Nonetheless, they are still important to

Informative Essay On Riding Horses
(Surtees). Behavior is a key factor in riding horses. Individuals can learn how to better themselves for
the future by improving the way they act. When a young person is focused on brushing, feeding, or
working with a horse, their focus is no longer on their own problems and issues. People who have
struggled to achieve their treatment goals have made significant breakthroughs through equine
therapy. Like all animals, horses set their own boundaries that a rider has to learn respect. Loving an
animal can help a child learn how to love themselves as well. The need for animals to be taken care

Therapeutic riding allows volunteers and horses to come together to benefit the lives of people living
with disabilities. A little girl with cerebral palsy has had more progress with two weeks of therapeutic
riding than she did with ten years of other treatments. Winston Churchill says, There is just something
about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man. By participating in therapeutic
horseback riding, mentally challenged people are able to achieve things that may have seemed
impossible before. Riding horses can actually help a person burn calories without their knowledge.
Simply being outdoors can help reduce a person s level of stress. Horses help children make
connections, build relationships, and improve communication skills. They build confidence in a timid
child and they have the power to ease the pain of depression that some people may have previously
developed. Horses are easy to work with and they can connect with humans on so many levels. I
remember when I was 7 years old my grandma bought me my first horse. As I ventured out to the field
I heard a chorus of whinnies that always made me smile. Horses are creatures that always have a

The First Clinical Experience Of A Nurse Essay
The First Clinical Experience
On an early morning in April, my friends and I arrived 45 minutes early to our long term care facility
in Scottsdale, Arizona. The three of us anxiously awaited stepping foot into the care facility as we had
no idea what was to come. I began to wonder what the patients would be like and how I would care
for them. Consequently, I could feel my heart pounding as I was afraid of hurting the residents and not
promoting healing from their ailments. I didn t know what illnesses or diseases would place
individuals in the healthcare unit in the facility. That terrified me. I wanted to know everything I could
about the residents prior to stepping foot in the building, but that knowledge wasn t attainable. While
trying to process my fears, I was thinking of the quote from Maya Angelou that says, As a nurse, we
have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and
ourselves. They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel. This lack
of knowledge scared me; however, I knew that regardless of what placed the residents on the unit, I
would care for them with respect and compassion.
Eventually the time rolled around to walk in the front door, and I was shaking with nerves. My
learning community of ten students and our instructor walked into the building, through many
hallways, and onto the unit our first nursing unit. We quietly walked through the center room, which

Moving To Gondrin
I have a moved twice in my life, with the second and last being the toughest to handle. I began in
Chagrin Falls, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, where I was born in this world. Chagrin Falls, as a I
remember it, was a cold place, but not dreary. It was like a unexpected book, one you thought you
wouldn t even read, but eventually grow to love. As a three year old, I moved to Gondrin, a tiny
village in France, where I spent my early childhood. Gondrin was different; bright, colorful, and full
of flowers. It was the epitome of a small village. My second and final move brought me to
Weddington, North Carolina, my home for the past eight years. When I moved to this new place, a
bustling and upcoming town, I was taken aback by the differences between it and my old home. In
France, everything was quiet and rural, while Weddington, despite not being a big city, was the polar
opposite. There were shops in France, while there were stores in Weddington. There were fruit and
vegetable stands in France, while there were supermarkets in Weddington. I do not seek to condemn

Despite being a transitional family, this study found that stepfathers, across the board, positively
helped the children under their care. In addition to the research, it was found that the healthier
relationship the child shared with the stepfather was largely due to the relationship that already
preexisted between the biological mother and child. Also as stated in the research question, it was
assumed that child behavior prior to a stepfather moving in would affect the bond between them. This
proved to be correct, however, the initial mind set was that depression would drive a wedge between
their relationship in actuality it proved to help draw the stepfather and child closer together. The study
also encouraged delaying a stepfather joining the household if the child displayed delinquent behavior
because it could cause problems between the stepfather and stepchild. Due to past findings, it was

Governments have the power and authority to open markets to foreign investors; when this happens a
free trade agreement is reached. However an individual or corporation can decide at any time to
improve upon their own mechanics on a national or global level. With tourism and finance serving as
the two major industries within the Bahamas for multiple years we have not had to trade or forsake
much to propel these products to a higher level. Moreover a vast difference between globalization and
its cousin free trade is; globalization is technology driven and it is not affected directly by government

grand stage they then make the necessary improvements so that they can grandstand on a mainstream
platform. Whereas the need is forced upon them more for the good of the people versus one entity s

factors and ways that diversity and globalization affects the Bahamas.

Pericles, Philip II Of Macedonia, And Alexander The Great
Between 461 BC and 323 BC, Pericles, Philip II of Macedonia, and Alexander the Great shaped Greek
history by progressing military, strength, and power. Flourishing the Golden Age, motivating the
Athenian soldiers in the Peloponnesian War, and using outstanding strategies and tactics made Pericles
one of the men who significantly shaped Greek history. Secondly, Philip II remodeled the military
phalanx, creating a stronger military, transformed all of the small impoverished towns into well run
states, and subjugated the Greek city states, joining them together. After Philip II, Alexander the Great
destroyed Thebes to save his empire, united Macedonia into one powerful state, and unintentionally
started the Hellenistic Period, shaping Greece into a strong and united civilization and continuing the
Greek influence. Pericles, Cleisthenes, and Alexander the Great substantially shaped Greek history by
creating a strong military, gathering power and building controlled strength. Between 449 BC and 431
BC, the Golden Age of Athens flourished mainly under the rule of Pericles. Pericles funded the
cultural projects in Athens, including building new city landmarks like Parthenon and the Acropolis.
He also influenced writers, promoting literature, arts, and writing. A center of numerous fine arts
including education and democracy grew because of the willpower of Pericles. He came from a

Market and environmental analysis of McDonalds Corp 2003.
Market and environmental analysis is an essential part of an organization s External Analysis.
The main objectives of a market analysis are;
a) To determine how attractive a market is.
b) To understand the dynamics of the market and amend strategies accordingly.
Here we apply the dimensions of a Market Analysis to McDonalds corp.
1) Emerging submarkets;
McDonalds failed to recognize the changing trend in customer s preferences to better tasting, fresher
food. This trend led to new sub markets emerging for tastier, fresher and fast food perceived as
healthier. A few of the smaller/privately owned competitors (Cosi and Quizno s) were able to operate

With the rising immigrant population customers now had a choice of items. McDonalds realize this
too late and try to counter this effect by introducing new burgers. However, the testing of the new
menu does not gauge strongly enough the changing customer preferences and this poor planning led to
its failure.
Internally changing trends were also blindsided. Franchisees who were the closest to customers were
not included in decision making and were thus disgruntled. Here was the need to change the
management style from top down to bottom up. This would have solved some of the issues plaguing
McDonalds, by providing data on what customers want and what products would have a greater
chance of success.
7) Key success Factors
McDonalds did have some strengths or key success factors;
a) Large number of franchises that led to economies of scale. This however contrasted to the small is
beautiful concept of the niche markets.
b) Complete training for franchisees to begin and run their own McDonalds proved to be a good team
building exercise.
c) Cost of food was low due to economies of scale and economies of size. Moreover, McDonalds was
able to negotiate a reasonable price for high quality food products.
McDonalds failed to realize the changing trends in the casual fast food markets, as a result of which, a
large part of the market share was taken over by existing brands like Wendy s and new players

Abigail Williams, the Villian of The Crucible by Arthur...
In writing short stories, novels, or plays, there are certain standards the writer comes to meet. He will
choose a basic story element to go by; either man versus nature, man versus man, or man versus
himself. Then, a setting that is appropriate to the writer is chosen, a place where the writer envisions
the story happening. Inevitably the characters are introduced one by one, and the writer tries to convey
their personality and instill a mental image for the reader. There have always been the heroes, the
villains and the victims. Any story can revolve particularly around any of these, but often they all have
roles that create equilibrium in the plot. However, in The Crucible, Arthur Miller did not need to

Abigail Williams accuses all of these people with only two things in mind. One of them is her
desperate desire to be in the spotlight at all times. ealthy motives are the reasons for the murdering of
innocent people.
Abigail Williams main cause for her wild accusations is a selfish one. It is to be with John Proctor, a
married man with whom she has an affair. She is sent away but all she thinks of is being reunited with
him. Abigail drinks blood, wishing to be with John Proctor, which could happen only if his wife
Elizabeth died. She then, after committing adultery and contributing to the breaking of a marriage, is
not through. Abigail pursues John and does not recognize that the affair is over. She conveys this in
saying I have something better than hope, I think! (22). Abigail does not just miss her love, she
becomes ruthless to get him back.
Abigail William s aggressive personality easily persuades the other girls to follow her footsteps, and
back up anything and everything she says. This personality also frightens people in the courtroom to
question her truthfulness, or her relation with John Proctor. Due to her forceful behavior, the girls
support Abigail, and therefore become entangled in her web of lies, sins, and murders.

nations: Italy and Germany. Before the second half of the 19th century, Italy was a collection of city
states that were only loosely allied with one another. The German Confederation was created by the
Congress of Vienna in 1815, but it had been controlled by the Austrian and Prussian Empires. In 1848
major rebellions broke out within the confederation, inspired by liberals who envisioned a German
nation ruled by parliamentary government. The revolutions failed, and many liberals fled the country,
but they proved to be an excuse for the Prussian army to invade other parts of the Confederation. The
Prussian military leader was Otto von Bismarck, who subjugated the rebels and declared the beginning

History of Trigonometry: An Introduction Trigonometry is useful in our world. By exploring where
these concepts come from provides an understanding in putting this mathematics to use. The term
Trigonometry comes from the Greek word trigon, meaning triangle and the Greek word meatria
meaning measurement. However it is not native to Greek in origin. The mathematics comes from
multiple people over a span of thousands of years and has touched over every major civilization. It is a
combination of geometry, and astronomy and has many practical applications over ... Show more

Though there is no trigonometry in the works of Euclid and Archimedes, there are theorems presented
in a geometric method that are similar to particular trigonometric laws or rules. Theorems on the
lengths of chords are applications of the law of sines. In addition Archimedes theorem on broken
chords is similar to rules for sines of sums and differences of angles. From the primitive landmarks of
shadow tables and the Greeks gain and expansion of astronomical knowledge from the Babylonians,
there was a gap in the improvement of trigonometry until the time of Hipparchus.
Hipparchus
The first trigonometric table was in fact compiled by Hipparchus of, who is known as an as the father
of trigonometry (Boyer, 1991). Hipparchus was the first to put into a table the corresponding values of
arc and chord for a series of angles. He did this by considering every triangle was inscribed in a circle
of fixed radius. Each side of the triangle became a chord, a straight line drawn between two points on
a circle. To find the parts of the triangle he needed to find the length of the chord as a function of the
central angle. [pic] For Example, in the diagram triangle ACB is inscribed in circle O. So the sides of
the triangle become chord AC, chord CB and chord AB. Hipparchus would have sought to find the
length of the chord, AC, as a function of the central angle. He deduced a trigonometric formula for
the length of a chord sketched from one

As part of the Every Child Matters and Childcare Act 2006 all children aged three and four in England
are entitled to 15 hours per week of early years education for free. The local authority is provided with
government funds to enable that early years education is provided for children for up to two years of
free education over 38 weeks of the year, parents will also have the option to pay for additional hours
if and when they require them. Early years education is about supporting very young children,
children aged 3 5 years old. It is very different from Key Stage 1 as it is based on learning through
play rather than a form of formal education. Although TA s may not always work in the early years

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the statutory framework that sets the standards that all
early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy
and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children are ready for school and gives children
the broad range of knowledge and skills t hat provide the right foundation for good future progress
through school and life. The Early years foundation stage was introduced in 2008 and sets out one
standard framework for learning, development and care for all children from birth to the foundation
year. In Scotland there is the Curriculum for Excellence which aims to achieve a transformation in
education by providing a coherent, more flexible and enriched curriculum from 3 to 18. In Northern
Ireland pupils in years 1 2 are in foundation stage and Key stage 1 consists of years 3 and 4and Key
stage 2 consists of 5 and 6. Early years learning usually runs with adults working with children on
focused activities that have specific concepts such as play involving using numbers, starting letter
formation and language activities. The classroom will usually contain educational toys/play areas and
children will be encouraged to work/play independently and choose from a wide range of activities.
Foundation stage classrooms/areas also have facilities outside the classroom for outside play. The

Planning Your Vacation INTRODUCTION Imagine getting away from the monotony of your
everyday life. You can lie on the beach sipping a cool drink miles away from your worries of getting a

lands that are different from your own backyard. Half of the class has taken a vacation less than five
times in their lifetimes, but let s face that most of those probably included those little family vacations
to Disneyland. But, all of you said that you planned to travel someday. So, why not do it sooner than

Tectonic Convergence At The Eurasian And African
Plate tectonic convergence at a rate of about 4 mm/year between the Eurasian and African. Plates
dominates the straits of Gibraltar (Argus et al., 1989). The stratigraphic evolution of the sediment
drifts is therefore greatly influenced by both regional tectonics and ocean circulation (Medialdea et al.,
2009; Lopes et al., 2006; Terrinha et al., 2009; Zitellini et al., 2009). Coring results from Expedition
339 showed that initial contourite formation started at about 4.5 to 4.2 Ma ago with more prominent
formation of the contourite drifts taking place in the Quaternary (Expedition 339 Scientists, 2012).
Today, circulation passing through the straits of Gibraltar is noticeable and identifiable by the
exchange of warm and salty MOW with cool and less salty North Atlantic water flowing into the
Mediterranean Sea. The MOW has a temperature of about 12°C. The sill depth of the straits of
Gibraltar known as the Camarinal Sill is about 280 m. The mixing of the MOW with the North
Atlantic central water forms two water masses, one at 500 700 m depth and the other at 800 1400 m
depth (Amber and Howe, 1979; Voelker et al., 2006; Stow et al., 2011; Voelker and de Abreu, 2011).
The formation of these water masses leads to the emergence of strong bottom currents that flow
northwestward along the margin above the North Atlantic Deep water and under the Atlantic Inflow
Water. More importantly, the merging of these strong currents and the bathymetry of the Gulf of Cadiz
has led to

Writing Skills, Oral Communication, And Confident Level
People change by time goes by, so do I, especially in academic perspective. What usually happen to
me when it is approaching last week of the semester, I tend to compare myself in the present to myself
in the past. There are many aspect that I look to create subjects of comparison for a certain class such
as writing skill, oral communication, and confident level. English 150 is one of important class that I
can use to measure my academic level. A lot of important things I learned in this class for this
semester, which I can use to improve myself especially in generating ideas, revising compositions, and
improving editing process. Idea is the first thing we need to have before working on our composition
so that it can lead and keep us on our objective in writing an essay. In this class, I notice that before
working on any assignment, my instructor always ask the whole class to write down any ideas we
have to do the task. The reason why she gave us specific time to think and write our ideas is she want
to train us to brainstorm before doing something. This is how I generate my idea and choose the best
option that I have using the list of ideas that I have from brainstorming process. This process can be
interesting part of generating idea because I just write what I have in my mind even though it is not
logic and impossible to do. However, here come next step, which give solution to the brainstorming
process. I used to call it elimination process. In this process, I need

Beethoven s Major Accomplishments
Ludwig van Beethoven was a famous composer between the Classical and Romantic eras. He was
born in December of 1770, in Bonn, Germany. Ludwig had a terrible childhood, because of his dad
who was an alcoholic most of his life, who was also a musician himself, and with that his father would
make him play the piano and practice every day and would smack him if he made a mistake. This is
how he developed such a talent for music, because of his father. Although he was deaf, he made most
of his famous and important works during that time. He still remains to be the most famous and
influential composers of all time. At the age of seventeen, his teacher and mentor sent him to Vienna,
to study more in depth of the art of music. There in Vienna, he was able to meet great musicians and
composers, such as Mozart. Ludwig would continue to grow in his knowledge of music and writing
great symphonies. From his time in Vienna, he began to excel and people began to notice him. This all
started his impact on music. From Beethoven s famous works, moonlight sonata to the 3rd symphony,
Beethoven is considered as the most well known composer between the transitions of classical music
to the romantic era. (Biography Par. 3) In 1798 when he was 26 years old, he noticed that ... Show

eras. Many of his methods were used by composers long after him. Beethoven paved the way many
composers wrote their music by the tension and intensity in his music. From the range of pitch and
color tone, it would add such character to the music to make it come alive (McGraw 191). During the
early years of Beethoven s pieces, Mozart was the main influence, however, other pieces clearly show

How Does Discours Discours Computational Linguistics
Language is a universal method of communication, it consist of multiple units. According to
ethnologue.com 7099 languages are spoken today, but only 23 account for more than half the world s
population. Language is more than just a way of communicating, it is a culture of a specific group of
people consisting of their values, moral expressions and how they conduct themselves. A linguist
studies language scientifically and focuses on all facets, the structure, the use and the history of
language which leads to the knowledge and understanding of language and all its elements that forms
part of how language is perceived.
Discourse
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary discourse means the use of words to exchange thoughts
and ideas. It can also be described as a mode of organizing knowledge, ideas or experiences that are
rooted in language and its concrete context. It is the branch of linguistics that focuses on language
above and beyond the sentence. The words above and beyond capture different features of the
discourse mission. It is by examining units larger than the sentence, that discourse analyst go above

The Blazing World as Feminist Manifesto Essay
Margaret Cavendish truly had faith in the female spirit, and she felt that women were never given the
credit they deserved. Cavendish wholeheartedly believed that women could comprehend philosophy
and politics as well as men, and that they should be allowed to study these subjects freely. In addition,
she called for the independence of women from masculine restrictions. Because of this, feminism
abounded in her thoughts and works. In The Blazing World, Margaret Cavendish shows that women
are capable of ruling a world effectively when power is given to them. She also shows that women are
capable of excelling in a created world within their minds, free of limitations set by men.

In spite of it all, Cavendish published her thoughts. She even used that eccentricity to her advantage
by transforming it into a virtue; by doing so she carved out her own niche (Hutton 220). She allowed
others to know that she was unusual in order to gain positive attention.
Cavendish was very verbal about the limited opportunities for women as well as the negative attitudes
women faced when they set out to broaden their horizons (Hutton 222). She most likely faced these
things herself when she set out as a female philosopher. She was disgusted with the fact that schools of
higher learning were for men only, and she blamed this for keeping her gender down. It was
the reason all women are fools; for women breeding up women, one fool breeding up another, and as
long as that custom lasts there is no hopes of amendment, and ancient customs being a second nature,
makes folly hereditary in that Sex, by reason their education is effeminate, and their times spent in
pins, points and laces, their study only in vain fashions, which breeds prodigality, pride and envie (qtd.
in Iliffe and Willmoth).
Cavendish clearly saw the lack of educational opportunities as a hereditary disease that sickened her
gender and hindered its progress. She recognized the training that young girls went through and later
passed on to their daughters, and lamented over the time wasted in things that did not advance the
mind or instill proper virtues. Such

Efficacy Of Tea Tree Oil
Efficacy of Tea Tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia), Honey, and Capsicum annuum Against
Staphylococcus epidermidis and Escherichia coli

This experiment was designed to examine the efficacy of naturally occurring antimicrobials against
common bacteria located in a normal human microbiome. Three antimicrobials, Melaleuca alternifolia
(tea tree) oil, commercial honey, and Capsicum annuum (red chili pepper), were tested on the gram
negative Escherichia coli and the gram positive Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Quantitative
data was taken using the filter paper disk method to determine the zones of inhibition produced by the
three antimicrobials. The results collected showed that Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil is an
effective broad spectrum antimicrobial, while honey produced partial inhibition with an outer ring of
stimulation signifying that the honey is merely bacteriostatic for a short period of time before growth
reoccurs. The Capsicum annuum (red chili pepper) stimulated bacterial growth indicating possible
contamination or lack of antimicrobial properties.
Introduction
Antimicrobial agents are an integral part of everyday life in today s society and play a vital role in
reducing the impact of diseases across the globe.

  • 2. Employee Relationships And Patient Satisfaction Introduction Employee engagement surveys are probably the most common way leaders can understand what their employees are thinking about their jobs and the organization. Currently ninety two percent of companies use this method. (Hadjistoyanova, 2016) In the healthcare setting there is a direct link between employee attitudes and patient satisfaction. (Powell, 2001) Improving patient satisfaction is critical. Hospital reimbursement rate from Medicare and Medicaid revolves around the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare providers and Systems (HCAHPS), the federal system that monitors patient satisfaction and patient readmission rate. (HCAHPS, 2016) Without employee engagement, you re never going to get the kind of ultimate patient experience you re hoping for says Mike Packnett, CEO of Parkview Health. (Kruse, 2015) Employee satisfaction doesn t necessarily mean employees are engaged. Employees can be happy, show up for work daily, but that doesn t mean they are being productive or mindful of patient s needs. When employees are engaged, they care. Examples would be a hospital employee making eye contact with visitors and patients, another would be a night shift worker being aware of quiet time during their shift. (Kruse, 2015) Leaders need to know what drives employees engagement. Leaders that behave consistently with the organizations core values and show a sincere interest in the employee s well being have been a link to improving employee engagement. ... • 3. The Success Of Louis Vuitton Essay Louis Vuitton was a French box producer and packer who established the extravagance brand of the same name in excess of 150 years back. From humble beginnings in the French field, Vuitton s aptitude, development and determination rapidly saw his mark trunks desired by the world s tip top. Presently, with Marc Jacobs in charge as innovative chief since 1997, the house has extended its putting forth to incorporate packs, apparel, shoes, frill and adornments, making it a standout amongst the most profitable extravagance marks on the planet. Vuitton was conceived on August 4, 1821 in Anchay, a little common laborers settlement in the east of France. His dad, Xavier Vuitton, was a rancher and his mom, Coronne Gaillard who passed on when he was 10 a mill operator. At 13 years old, drained of common life and of his strict stepmother, Vuitton left home for Paris. The 292 mile venture took him two years by walking with stops to complete odd employments to help himself along the way. Upon entry in Paris in 1837, Vuitton turned into a student at a fruitful box production and pressing workshop a specialty that was exceptionally regarded at the time. Inside a couple of years he had picked up a notoriety for being one of the best in his field in the city. Vuitton s fortunes climbed again in 1853 when he was named the individual box creator and packer of the Empress of France, Eugenie de Montijo the wife of Napoleon Bonaparte. The Empress accused Vuitton of wonderfully ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

DropBox makes it easy to share large files with anyone even if they don t have their own account. • 5. Black Ivory Research Paper Outside of the potential cooperation problems between local and national governments, there is also the cultural issue that many farmers and villagers do not respect elephants. Because elephants are creatures of habit, they follow the same migration paths that their ancestors have for decades. Due to the increased agriculture in African villages, elephants often cross right through small farms or villages, destroying crops and small structures. Many African villagers who have had these encounters with elephants do not understand the Western fascination and obsession with saving an animal they perceive as a large, more destructive cockroach. Another issue is the perspective of those in Asia. Ivory has always been a symbol of wealth in Asia. Those who can afford to buy full tusks often commission experienced artists to carve intricate scenes and designs into the tusk for display in their homes. Although the resulting artwork is beautiful and the preservation of tradition is important, another medium should be used in order to create these art pieces, one that does not result in the decimation of a keystone species. The other purpose of buying ivory is medicinal. The rhino horn and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... African national governments have mostly chosen to ignore the issue due to the extensive corruption present in police forces, business leaders, and influential politicians. Tanzanian intelligence agencies provided President Jakaya Kikwete with a list of corrupted businessmen and politicians involved in the black ivory market; however, this list has disappeared, according to The Guardian journalist Hannah McNeish (2015). Politicians have been fired for naming corrupt officials in Tanzanian government, and nationwide laws were passed that criminalize the publication of elephant population statistics so as not to influence upcoming national elections in ... • 6. Everyday Use Heritage In Everyday Use by Alice Walker, there is a clear depiction of heritage and what it is; equally, there is also the image of how it may be construed. In the story, the reader is introduced into the life of an African American family who live in a small house and struggle financially. It is a life that has been lived by many throughout in history. Through the use of symbolism, Walker interprets the American Dream as unique to each individual and the possibility to lose it in the chaos of life. Immediately, the reader is introduced to a family who doesn t live at the top of the socioeconomic pyramid. A family who, although live comfortably compared to many, still maintain the ideals of which they came from. Maggie and Mama live ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Dee chooses to live a different life of that which she was brought into, and Maggie s choosing the path of inheritance, culture, and tradition. In the eyes of the world, it would seem that Dee is living the American Dream ; however, in the eyes of her family, Maggie is the one living the dream. She is true to their culture and traditions, which they hope she will keep alive. This is perhaps the most important thing that the family has to pass on. • 7. Essay on Canadian Firearms Program Case Study: Individual Preparation Report Name: Maruf Hashem Date: January 30, 2013 Case Title: Canadian Firearms Program Introduction Gun violence is serious social problem and Canada has a long history of firearms control. However, increasing costs to the Canadian Firearms Program (CFP) has made it a lightning rod for criticism from both pro and anti gun advocates. Reports out of the media and Auditor General Sheila Fraser paint a picture of inefficiency, incompetence and mismanagement. This paper looks at the main issues faced by decision makers, analyses them, presents alternatives and makes recommendations based on the analysis. Key Issues (10 marks) Issue 1 (Most Important Issue): The first and most important issue to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Analysis (10 marks) In dealing with the first issue, there are two distinct schools of thought. One led by gun advocates stating the irrelevance of gun control in reducing crimes while the other claiming its importance. The main argument against is the notion that no would be criminal would ever comply with it thereby diminishing, if not eliminating its effectiveness. Opponents also point to the steadily declining gun related deaths as evidence against any control. Proponents on the other hand point out that this reduction is due to fewer suicides rather than homicides. Opponents also argue that controlling gun access will only create a thriving black market for firearms. Proponents of the program state that the registry system is an invaluable tool for law enforcement officials. It helps to track firearms and assist in solving cases, while respecting the rights of law abiding citizens to own guns. Judging by the figures presented (exhibit 2) in the case, the sheer volume of queries appear to indicate that the registry indeed is an essential tool for police. In fact, law enforcement officers who are a key stakeholder in this program are in favor of it. The argument of a thriving black market can be reasonable disregarded, as there is no data to support it. Now, even if there is a necessity for a registry program, it still has to be efficient. ... • 8. The Outsiders Righteousness Quotes An individual has the responsibility of doing what is right and remaining unbiased to those who are different from themselves to reach a better understanding and tolerance to those around them. These responsibilities and acts are the prime ingredients for a socially sustainable society, as the individual actively contributes to the betterment of society through his individual acts of righteousness. In the novel The Outsiders , written by S.E. Hinton in 1965, a haphazard society is portrayed through the memoirs of the protagonist, Ponyboy. In this novel, S.E. Hinton demonstrates the struggles and efforts of individuals who stray from the typical hostility felt between the two gangs, the Greasers and the Socs, and an individual s effort to reach ... • 9. Unburned Vegetation Survey Results The percent coverage of the four types of vegetation was calculated using the data that we gathered in this experiment. The values for the f tests and t tests were also calculated in this experiment for the four different types of vegetation as well as for the DBH of species in burned and unburned sites. The percent coverage of woody vegetation in burned sites: 27.8125% ± 29.83%, is higher than that the percent coverage of woody vegetation in unburned sites: 15.25% ± 14.69% (Figure 1). Grasses in burned areas also have higher percent coverage than the percent coverage of grasses in unburned areas: 36.75% ± 30.01% for grasses compared to 5.125% ± 6.49% in the grasses (Figure 1). The percent coverage of annuals perennials in burned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The F test values in canopies (0.031271512) and sub canopies (0.005008424) are both below 0.05 so we can say with 92% confidence that the canopy structures in burned and unburned areas differ and with 97% confidence that the sub canopies vary between the burned and unburned areas. Unburned areas tended to have better developed structures of canopy and sub canopy trees because they were given more time to accumulate compared to recently burned areas which have recently undergone a disturbance. The F test value for DBH (0.022472008) is also below 0.05 so we also have to assume that there is variance in terms of DBH in burned and unburned sites. Unburned sites have larger trees (larger DBH) because these trees had more time to grow compared to trees in recently burned sites. Since the F tests values for the logs (0.076083352) and shrubs (0.340469754) were calculated to be above 0.05, we are not able to draw definitive conclusions on this data, therefore we have to assume that the logs and shrub structures did not vary within the burned and unburned sites (Klowden et al. 2015). Succession is evident in this experiment as there is an overall greater percent coverage of grasses, woody plants, and annuals perennials in burned areas compared to open space. Open space is greatest in unburned areas and there is more open space in unburned areas than burned areas; this is mainly because the woody plants in unburned areas store lots of nutrients within themselves, therefore having less grasses and smaller plants on forest floors (Dickman et al 2014). Five different species of canopy trees were identified in unburned sites compared to only three species of canopy trees identified in burned sites which allows me to conclude that there is more diversity in the species of canopy trees in unburned areas than burned areas. There may have been more types of species found in unburned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. An Overview Of Parkinson Disease An Overview of Parkinson Disease Parkinson disease (PD) is a condition consisting of many unanswered questions. What causes it? Is it a genetic disorder? How will an individual know if they will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime? The list of enquiries one might present is endless. However, before even attempting to answer any questions, it is essential to understand the disease as a whole. In order to do so, grasping basic background information as well as data on PD is necessary. Following that, discussing material regarding the science behind the disease will provide a deeper understanding when examining the subsequent etiologies, signs, and symptoms. From a historical perspective, PD was first described in 1817 by James ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to understand the possible etiology and the signs and symptoms, it is important to first recognize the science of PD and what happens neurologically. Nolden, Tartavoulle, and Porche (2014) explain that the brain structures affected by the disease are known as the substantia nigra and the basal ganglia. The role of the basal ganglia is to provide control of fine motor movements. What happens with PD, is there is a loss of dopamine producing neurons from the substantia nigra which causes a deficiency in dopamine levels. Without a sufficient amount of dopamine, there are not enough chemical messages being transmitted to initiate, control, and balance movement of the target muscles. It is worth noting though, that dopamine levels decrease naturally as one ages, so symptoms could become more aggressive and prevalent the older an individual gets. Fallon et al. (2015) explains that the dying cells contain Lewy bodies, defined as protein aggregates, which allow the disease to be identified. However, it is still undetermined what all factors cause the degeneration of those brain cells and PD as a whole. PD is a disease of mostly unknown etiology; however, there have been links to various factors from environmental influences to genetics (Galifianakis Ghazinouri, 2014). First of all, it is necessary to mention that the suspected environmental factors are hard to come by for they are merely risk factors. Nonetheless, they are still important to ... • 11. Informative Essay On Riding Horses (Surtees). Behavior is a key factor in riding horses. Individuals can learn how to better themselves for the future by improving the way they act. When a young person is focused on brushing, feeding, or working with a horse, their focus is no longer on their own problems and issues. People who have struggled to achieve their treatment goals have made significant breakthroughs through equine therapy. Like all animals, horses set their own boundaries that a rider has to learn respect. Loving an animal can help a child learn how to love themselves as well. The need for animals to be taken care for on a daily basis fulfills the humans need to be needed, to nurture, and to love. (Trotter). Children learn to become responsible for themselves and ... A little girl with cerebral palsy has had more progress with two weeks of therapeutic riding than she did with ten years of other treatments. By participating in therapeutic horseback riding, mentally challenged people are able to achieve things that may have seemed impossible before. Riding horses can actually help a person burn calories without their knowledge. Simply being outdoors can help reduce a person s level of stress. Horses help children make connections, build relationships, and improve communication skills. They build confidence in a timid child and they have the power to ease the pain of depression that some people may have previously developed. Horses are easy to work with and they can connect with humans on so many levels. I remember when I was 7 years old my grandma bought me my first horse. As I ventured out to the field I heard a chorus of whinnies that always made me smile. Horses are creatures that always have a warm welcome. A horse does not see a child with disabilities. • 12. The First Clinical Experience Of A Nurse Essay The First Clinical Experience On an early morning in April, my friends and I arrived 45 minutes early to our long term care facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. The three of us anxiously awaited stepping foot into the care facility as we had no idea what was to come. I began to wonder what the patients would be like and how I would care for them. Consequently, I could feel my heart pounding as I was afraid of hurting the residents and not promoting healing from their ailments. I didn t know what illnesses or diseases would place individuals in the healthcare unit in the facility. That terrified me. I wanted to know everything I could about the residents prior to stepping foot in the building, but that knowledge wasn t attainable. While trying to process my fears, I was thinking of the quote from Maya Angelou that says, As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel. This lack of knowledge scared me; however, I knew that regardless of what placed the residents on the unit, I would care for them with respect and compassion. Eventually the time rolled around to walk in the front door, and I was shaking with nerves. My learning community of ten students and our instructor walked into the building, through many hallways, and onto the unit our first nursing unit. We quietly walked through the center room, which intersected the four ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Moving To Gondrin I have a moved twice in my life, with the second and last being the toughest to handle. I began in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, where I was born in this world. Chagrin Falls, as a I remember it, was a cold place, but not dreary. It was like a unexpected book, one you thought you wouldn t even read, but eventually grow to love. As a three year old, I moved to Gondrin, a tiny village in France, where I spent my early childhood. Gondrin was different; bright, colorful, and full of flowers. It was the epitome of a small village. My second and final move brought me to Weddington, North Carolina, my home for the past eight years. When I moved to this new place, a bustling and upcoming town, I was taken aback by the differences between it and my old home. In France, everything was quiet and rural, while Weddington, despite not being a big city, was the polar opposite. There were shops in France, while there were stores in Weddington. There were fruit and vegetable stands in France, while there were supermarkets in Weddington. I do not seek to condemn Weddington, as it was just vastly unfamiliar to my young brain. Also as stated in the research question, it was assumed that child behavior prior to a stepfather moving in would affect the bond between them. This proved to be correct, however, the initial mind set was that depression would drive a wedge between their relationship in actuality it proved to help draw the stepfather and child closer together. The study also encouraged delaying a stepfather joining the household if the child displayed delinquent behavior because it could cause problems between the stepfather and stepchild. Hipparchus was the first to put into a table the corresponding values of arc and chord for a series of angles. He did this by considering every triangle was inscribed in a circle of fixed radius. Each side of the triangle became a chord, a straight line drawn between two points on a circle. To find the parts of the triangle he needed to find the length of the chord as a function of the central angle. [pic] For Example, in the diagram triangle ACB is inscribed in circle O. Coring results from Expedition 339 showed that initial contourite formation started at about 4.5 to 4.2 Ma ago with more prominent formation of the contourite drifts taking place in the Quaternary (Expedition 339 Scientists, 2012). Today, circulation passing through the straits of Gibraltar is noticeable and identifiable by the exchange of warm and salty MOW with cool and less salty North Atlantic water flowing into the Mediterranean Sea. The MOW has a temperature of about 12°C. The sill depth of the straits of Gibraltar known as the Camarinal Sill is about 280 m.
