How Dietary Tracking Is Important For People With Diet...
Dietary tracking is very important for people with diet related health issues, people trying to
lose weight, and just understanding and keeping everyday nutritional health. Many websites,
applications, and devices have dietary tracking databases that need the food to be inputted, and
selected from a large list (ChooseMyPlate, 2016; SuperTracker, 2015; SelfNutritionData, 2016;
Fontana, Farooq, Sazonov, 2014). This process can take 20 30 minutes for a diverse meal, which
requires users to sit down and input everything they eat. Eating foods with unlabeled packaging
makes it nearly impossible to track and input its nutritional value. With the Om Nom NoMonitor
food profiling technology, the user will no longer have to worry about unlabeled foods. The Om
Nom NoMonitor has software that can analyze a picture taken directly from a mobile phone using
technology similar to facial recognition, and then display statistics and log it into a digital food
journal (University of Salzburg, 2016). This product would be the best solution for this issue. The
Om Nom NoMonitor would be represented most accurately and commercially feasible by a
smartphone and downloadable app. The key aspects of this solution are Science and Technology.
Sciencetifically, the project must incorporate Food Science and Nutritional Science to catalog the
various qualities different foods possess and how that affects health. Technology is the major
element, as new software must be either created or adapted, along

Ethnographic Analysis Of Apple Airpod
The production of a box is very difficult and complicated. It all depends on what you are shipping
and where you are shipping it to. If you are shipping a big heavy item you will need a big sturdy
box if you are shipping a product far distance you may need something like a crate. It all depends
on the size. Boxdimensions are displayed as: Length x Width x Depth that determines how big or
small the box may be.
For example let s say AmazonВ® ships a smartphone to me I ll have to measure the smartphones
length width and depth and multiply them all together to get the total area of the phone. I ll use the
measurements of the new Iphone X the height is 5.65 inches the width is 2.79 inches and the depth
is 0.30 inches. These are the total measurements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s just the phone you have to leave space for the wall charger and AirPods. The
measurements of the Apple Airpods are 1.74 by 0.84 by 2.11 inches. The area of the Apple
Airpods are 3 inches squared. The measurements for the wall charger are 1.62 x 1.3 x 0.81 and the
area is 2 inches squared.
Now that we have found the area of all the items in the box we have to add all of the areas of the
other items like wall charger and AirPods plus the phone itself. When these are all added this
will determine what the total area is. When all the areas are added up you ll get 10 inches squared
as the area of the box. No that the area is found we can determine how expensive or inexpensive the
boxes might me.
The fact that Apple ships hundred of thousands of Iphone X s a day are crucial because the
boxes cost money too that means that they spend millions of dollars on boxing a year which
means they have to make an affordable safe box that won t break the phone in shipping or have
the box get damaged too quickly. If they make the boxes to expensive it can lead to Apple losing
more money than they earn. One way Apple makes the Iphone ten box an inexpensive box by
keeping all of the items tight in. That means there will be no use for extra foam or other excessive
items to keep the phone from breaking or cracking (discluding thin plastic around

Return of Martin Guerre
Starting with the premodern society and moving on to our modern society I will compare and
contrast the two societies. In the film The Return of Martin Guerre, the people lived on a pre
modern society. They lived in a agricultural society and this was shown by many reasons. First
they had permanent homes and used animals as well as tools to work their crops. They also used
a crop rotation instead of burning the land. This is just a basic outline of the society that Martin
lived in. Looking deeper into their social structure their society was much different than a modern
one. As far as statuses and roles, Martins society believe that status was more ascribed than
achieved. This meant that being an older person or a parent meant you... Show more content on

Events such as marriage were shared and talked about and doing things as an individual wasnot
common, like Martin originally leaving the village. Another example is that when the travelers
came into town they were not seen as trustworthy even though they claimed that the person they
called Martin was Arnaud. became suspicious not only of the strangers but also Arnaud. Going
onto our modern society there is a clear contrast but some similarities between now and the
premodern society. First, looking at the type of society we live in it is considered a information
society. Unlike agricultural, which was based off of growing crops and creating a food surplus,
we create and store information. We divide our labor like the ag. society but it is highly
specialized work. People in an information society also have a permanent settlement, instead of
living in a village we live in suburban residences outside of large cities. Included in this is
commuting for work which means people now have to travel farther distances to work. The main
social focus is based off of consumption not production like agricultural. Finally, children are seen
more as expensive not a helping hand or insurance when you get older like the premodern societies.
Going to statuses and roles in a modern society, there are very little similarities to the premodern.
Unlike premodern,

Voting And Politics In The United States
Voting and Politics are topics that cause controversy amongst Americans. Moreover, many people
do not express his or her right to vote because they feel like their vote will not matter. Additionally,
many individuals just look for the republican or democratic candidate and conduct little research
as to the candidate s political views. I, however, look for three important aspects before voting for
an individual; His or her stance of education, the environment, and whether I feel they are
genuine in their promises. Since I am a special education major, education is important to me; not
only for a job, but for the future of our country. Before voting for an individual, I look to see how
he or she plans to budget for education, the proposed

Lansdowne Hercules Research Paper
Discovered in 1790 on Hadrian s Villa in Tivoli, Italy, Lansdowne Heracles is an iconic structure
that has withstood the test of time. It is the statue of Greek hero Hercules (known as Herakles by
the Greeks), and he is best known the Twelve Labours he carried out for King Euryntheus of Argos.
Ancient artists usually portrayed Hercules as wearing or holding associated with these
achievements, and this is why in The J. Paul Getty Museum the Lansdowne Heraclesis shown
holding a club and a lion s skin, which was his first labour for the King. Another feature prominent
in Lansdowne Heracles is that Hercules is always shown as being nude, and this is because
historically in Greece, male nudity was considered the highest form of beauty. This is the reason
most Greek statues are nude. Since the statue was discovered in Italy, questions arise as to whether
Lansdowne Heracles is Roman or Greek. Considering the facts that will be presented here, history
of the Greek and the fact that Hercules was a Greek hero, the sculpture must be Greek. While
archeologists are unanimous that the Statue of Hercules was sculptured in a Roman workshop in
the 2nd century A.D, they believe that it was inspired by another Greek statue now lost sculptured
by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Statue of Hercules shows him carrying a club and a Nemean lion s skin, which are
associated with his first labor. The Nemean lion was a beast found on the hills of Nemea, which
were located in Greece. Subsequent feats that he undertook were all around Greece and therefore,
this is enough proof that the structure could be Greek rather than Roman. When Hercules died, he
was carried to Mount Olympus by Athena where he spent the rest of his eternity as a god (Scott,
2013). Most statues of Hercules are sculptured to portray him as a god, and since this mythology
originated from ancient Greece, it is only right to assume that the sculpture is

How Did Puritans Important
There is no denying that all American history classes mention Puritans. They took a significant role
in not only British history, but also American history. Why were they mentioned so frequently?
There are mountains of other groups of early Americans. Why did people just mention Puritans
instead of other. Everything started after the English Reformation. For the religions freedom, the
first group of British started to leave to the new world. They are known as Pilgrims toady. Instead of
giving up their religions in England, Puritans tried to purify the churches in the country. However,
they dejectedly started their journey to the new world later on. From then on, Puritans unique
culture spread to the New England and they remained one of the dominant cultures until the 19th
century. Their economy, religion culture and education had an essential influence on the early lives
of Americans.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And then they transported more Puritans through this joint stock company to their new colony
Massachusetts Bay Colony. Later on, the money that the Massachusetts Bay Company gained
became capital to create new lives in New English and as a simulation of economics to all colonies.
The government used the local taxes to build up churches and supported schools. One of the most
powerful religious leaders at that time called John Winthrop even stated that the Massachusetts Bay
Colony must become city on a hill . (study.com). Because of the increasing amount of Puritans who
arrived in the colony and abundant capitals, puritans established more towns and communities.
Instead of growing only one kind of crops, Puritans preferred to plant multiple types of crops. This
behavior helped them succeed in the economy. If one kind of crops died because of unbefitting
environment, others could be sold to benefit Puritans

different books that they called their library. Eudora loved books so much and wanted to be
able to read on her own so she made her parents teach her how to read before school. She loved
reading and read a lot of books. Later on in her life she realized that when she reads a book she
hears a voice in the back of her head reading for her. She thinks that that voice is the character s
voice that is in whatever texts you are reading. Eudora then goes on to explain how when you
reading a book you re also listening, and when you re writing a book you re also listening.
Realizing this has made her into the writer that she is today. When she is writing she rereads and

Dr. Shamis s Website And Credentials Stood Out The Most
After combing through various possible interviewees, Dr. Shamis s website and credentials
stood out the most. First, contact was made with the office receptionist who passed on Dr.
Shamis s personal cell phone number. Text messages were exchanged with Dr. Shamis since he
was busy with patients. He agreed to meet at his office, and this was where the interview took
place. After being introduced to Dr. Shamis a brief conversation was had. At the start of the
interview, it was asked of Dr. Shamis to provide information about himself and his practice. He
responded with I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania
(B. Shamis, personal communication, July 6, 2016) He then explained the types of therapies he is
proficient in, his educational background, and how he formed his practice.
Once rapport was established with Dr. Shamis the rest of the interview focused on writing within the
social sciences. The next question asked of Dr. Shamis was Compared to your undergraduate
studies, was there a significant increase in the amount of writing expected from you upon the
entrance of graduate school? His answer included personal accounts of his time spent in graduate
school, along with specific types of writing a graduate student might encounter. According to Dr.

Great Dungeon Malphas Essay
Great Dungeon Malphas was a nearly infinite dungeon. With one thousand floors it s depth s had
never been seen by the sentient races living on the surface. Many mighty heroes had attempted to
clear this dungeon, and many more had fallen victim to its traps and servants. The hero that had
delved the deepest and survived, refused to descend into it once more. He proceeded to spend the
money he gained and expended his influence to purchase a vast swath of land around the dungeon.
Nearly seventy years since and Heinrick the legendary dungeon crawler, the man who had nearly
conquered Malphas, was returning to the dungeon. He had with him an item he spent his
remaining wealth searching for and obtaining. It was rumored to be able to instantly teleport you
to a dungeons core, at the cost of all but ten days of your remaining lifespan. Most people would
never try to get their hands on an item like this, much less use one.
But Heinrick had a vendetta against this dungeon. What those who worshiped him didn t know,
is that this dungeon had cursed him. At his level he should have nearly eighty years left and still
be looking as if he were at the peak of his youth. Now he could feel himself growing weaker by the
day and his once handsome visage has melted to a horrid forgery.

The Alamo Paragraph
The Alamo
As Texans began firing at the enemy, deadly shrapnel cut through the columns of advancing
Mexican soldiers and killed and injured many. (Bredson 10). The Alamo was a deadly battle in the
1830s over the independence of Texas from Mexico.
The Alamo was a battle between the Mexicans, and the Texans. The battle was fought over things
such as slavery and to break independence. (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen? Paragraph 2). The
battle started on February 23, 1836 to March 6, 1836. The Texans wanted independence from the
Mexicans, which caused a war. Many people, over 1600 died, and only a few survived, including
Susannah Dickinson and her infant (The Alamo. Paragraph 2).
Towards the end, Santa Anna, a general, was captured. Anna agreed to recognize Texan
independence and told his Mexican forces to leave the state (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen?
Paragraph 4). Most of the Texans were colonizers. They were looking for wealth, and were
happy to take the acres of land the Mexicans were giving (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen?
Paragraph 1). On February 23, one hundred fifty men waited outside of the Alamo. Only a few
who approached the Mexicans were Texans (Ramsdell 30). Many of the Texan soldiers were in a
roofless church, also including the famous Davy Crockett, when Mexican soldiers had busted in the
doors (Bredson 11). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

more appreciative of my life because depression is a real thing that so many people experience

also really liked how even though this story covered a serious topic, there were points that made

had different personality traits that came out, so it made the book even more realistic. One
thing i didn t enjoy about this book was that at some points i felt bored because it seemed a bit
repetitive. For example, each day of craigs life was the same and nothing new was really
happening, but i think the author did that to help the reader understand craig s feelings about his
life better by dragging the days on. However by no means was this book a boring story and i ve

Smart Manufacture Essay
Smart Manufacture Introduction: Since the concept of smart grid was presented to our life, the
word of smart is using on every products. The new technologies will invent by an each day, hour
or even minute, and a life cycle of a new product continually decreases. Therefore, companies
want fit into the new environment so that the smart products became a strong marketing strategy
to let enterprises win in the business games. A smart product would be a smart strategy at the
beginning time such as smart cloth, smart toy, smart phone, smart furniture, smart building, smart
city and even smart society. People are tired to hear so many smart things and afraid of smart
things will replace human being. However, a caveman has no idea how to use guns and bullets

Therefore, people can not completely know what things will happen in the future, and we
continually looking for the real means of smart. Smart products, such as smart phones, give us
many benefits and improve our life. If smart manufacture or factories go into our life, how much
impact will give to us? For now, convert everything to informatization is the basic and existing
concept to explain what smart thing is. The idea looks like Pythagoras said Number rules the

To Whom It May Concern, My name is Keegan Drawe and I have been educating myself
regarding the movement for the English Only movement in the state of Nevada. I have been made
aware of many states, more so than not, that have moved forward in passing the English Only bill;
the last state being West Virginia, which was the 32nd state to recognize English as the official
language. I feel it is important for the state of Nevada to continue to move forward with this
movement and continue to progress that many of our neighboring states have made. Since the early
1800 s, our nation has been trying to adopt English as a universal language among our citizens.
Louisiana, in 1807, was the first state to begin this movement in its constitution as a condition to
admittance to the Union. After the Mexican American War in 1848, there were several tens of
thousands Spanish speaking civilians that moved into our country, and this didn t include the other
non English speaking people who lived among us. While we remain to be a free country, we are a
people who needs to be on the same page. Laws and education need to remain consistent throughout.

Explain The Two Step Flow Theory
The Two Step Flow theory dates back to the 1940s where Paul Lazarsfeld, Bernard Berelson and
Hazel Gaudet wrote a book called People s Choice that summarized the analysis of the November
1940 Presidential elections. The research revealed that people are more likely to be influenced by
other people rather than the mass media. They called these other people; opinion leaders. (Scannel,
2007). The theory is a key theory in understanding people s decision making processes, in this case
being the voting behaviours. The theory suggests that firstly, opinion leaders pay close attention to
mass mediaand then they pass on their interpretation of media messages to the public, influencing
their decisions. Unlike the hypodermic needle theory, the two step flow theory acknowledges that
audiences are active participants in the communicationprocess and are seen as a part of the society.
Having the theory defined, the question that the paper aims to dissects is how relevant is this
theory in the world of modern communications today? In a paper presented in the 20th Annual
Worldwide Web Conferencing in 2011, researchers who focussed on the social... Show more

the social process of how innovations become known and are spread throughout a social system
over time . (Severin and Tankard, 2001). The two step flow theory is hence a key theory in not only
understanding and analysing decision making and interpersonal communication but helps put

The Russo-Japanese War Essays
The Russo Japanese War The Russo Japanese war was a conflict between Russia and Japan in
1904 1905. The cause of the war was because Russia wanted to expand into Asia and ran into
Japanese plans for gaining a foothold on Asia main land. In 1898 Russia leased Port Arthur from
china, with the intention of making it into a great Asiatic port and the headquarters of Russian
naval power in the pacific. Russia already had troops in Manchuria during the boxer rebellion in
1900, but Russia had to face the anglo japanese alliance of 1902, which promised to leave Chinese

And the Japanese army and navy were far better prepared and equipped than the Russian forces
and won a series of major victories. The reason why the Russian forces were not successful
against Japanese was not because their troops fought badly, but their military commanders had

unimaginative strategy. In march, 1904 the first Japanese army landed in Korea and Namp o, it

1,100 out of 40,000 men and the Russians lost some 2,300 out of 7,000 troops. During May the
Japanese second army landed on the Liaodong peninsula, and severed communications between
Port Arthur and Manchuria and then the Japanese won the battle of Nanshan (May 30) and

Types Of Sigma Delta Modulators
Abstract This thesis investigates several types of Sigma Delta modulators in different conditions as
a possible solution to the all digital audio and wifi signal receivers. In this research, two main
approaches are under consideration. Oversampling is a technique to design a sigma delta
modulators. Undersampling(or subsampling) is an interesting technique which allows the sigma
delta modulators to sample high frequency signals such as WIFI and GNSS signals. Time
interleaving modulation is another way to implement пЃ“пЃ„ modulators in high frequency

The Delivery Of Public Service
There are mistakes, maladministration and misunderstanding that may occur during the delivery of
public service in the United Kingdom (UK). The citizens have a right to complain if they feel
aggrieved. There are many citizens who normally complain not only for their benefit but to ensure
that the public service is improved so that it can cater for the needs of the citizens and so that the
same mistakes are not inflicted on others. However, there are instances when the complaints are not
resolved by the said service provider. In such an instance when an individual feels that the complaint
has not been fully addressed by the government agency, department or National Health Service
(NHS) in England, then that individual has a right of asking for the complaint to be referred to the
Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman(PHSO) or the individual can personally refer the
matter to the PHSO. This paper seeks to discuss the single reform of the PHSO that would best
serve the interests of administrative justice. An Ombudsman may be defined as an officer appointed
to investigate citizen s complaints against injustice or maladministration by public officials. The
concept of the Ombudsman is anchored on the idea that citizens have a right of complaining against
specific actions of omission or commission by public officials. The Ombudsman therefore has
investigative powers vested on him and which include investigating the internal workings of
departments or entire organization.

Interpretation of Poems by Robert Browning, William Yates,...
The Duke of Ferrara is a character and the speaker in the poem My Last Duchess, by Robert
Browning. The reader witnesses a man that is controlling and whom will destroy anything that he
cannot control. One realizes immediately, the extent of the Duke s need for power in the title and in
the first line when he uses the term My which shows ownership (Browning). The Dukecannot
control the Duchess s spot of joy, (Browning line 21) therefore; he commands to have her killed
(Browning line 45). He still feels the need to control the Duchess, even after death. This control is
revealed when he opens the curtain and declares, (since none puts by / The curtain I have drawn

He asks the sages to help him in this conversion by asking them to consume my heart away
(Yates line 21). This statement makes the reader believe that the speaker is surrendering to and
seeking for a spiritual rebirth from a divine being. The speaker begins to imagine a time, maybe
in the after life, where he can be preserved. He decides he will preserve himself in unnatural
things, such as art when he says, Once out of nature I shall never take / [m]y bodily form from
any natural thing. The speaker eventually becomes satisfied as he pictures himself in the after life
of hammered gold and gold enameling / To keep a drowsy emperor awake, (Yates lines 28 29)
which is immortal. The speaker goes through a sort of emotional transformation.
The poem The Red Wheelbarrow, by William Williams, can be interpreted in several ways. The
first thing that stands out is that it seems as if every line depends on the next. The way Williams
separates each sentence, makes the reader realize that everyone and everything depends on
someone or something else. For example, if the reader reads line 1 3 he/she would think that so
much depends / upon / a red wheel (Williams lines 1 3). However, after reading the next line
barrow (Williams line 4) one learns that it is a red wheelbarrow that so much depends on. The red
wheel depends on the barrow to be a helpful tool; the wheel would be useless without the

The Fight For Racial Equality
Throughout American history, the fight for racial equality amongst society has had it s ups and
downs especially during the Civil Rights Movement. John Lewis, a civil rights leader, delivered
Speech at the March on Washington in occurred during the 1960s America where racial
discrimination was at it s highest. This mostly caught the attention of the younger generation of the
1960s and the black community, which had a more vigilant tone. Lewis purpose for this speech is
to inform the American citizens that African Americans want reform to protect themselves from
harm. Lewis main claims he wanted his speech to symbolize is that all races should have the right
to hold equal laws and freedom like any other white citizen had.

Lewis, however, highlights these people whose lives will be greatly affected by decisions about and
fights for civil rights so that those who are marching remember that the fight continues and has real
consequences.
Therefore, Lewis remarks in the first paragraph demonstrate that he identifies with the concerns of
grassroots activists across the country who could not attend the march, and he explains that he has
doubts about this march doing enough if the movement does not focus more on the grassroots
efforts of its members. (Mrs.Pruden)
John Lewis defends the Civil Rights Bill, but as he goes on, Lewis states that until any course of
action is taken towards the bill, it would not be much help to the African Americancommunity and
would not protect the innocent citizens who are victims of the police state. For instance, in the
text, Lewis believes that the bill is not going to fulfill the needs and safety of the black
community, in which he states in its present form, this bill will not protect the citizens of Danville,
Virginia, who must live in constant fear of a police state (para 2). That is to say, Lewis feels that
the bill that was presented to them, even though they still advocated it, will not be enough to secure
the black citizen and need to

But to bring to light two solutions that could end this ferocious ploy by the greedy government and

Aspartame is extremely poisonous, and here is why. One of the toxic ingredients of Aspartame is
wood alcohol. When the temperature of Aspartame exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in the
Aspartame is converted to formaldehyde, and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic
acidosis. Formaldehyde is grouped in the same class of poisons as Cyanide and Arsenic which

Albany Plan was a plan to create a unified government for the Thirteen Colonies. It was proposed
by Benjamin Franklin whose desire was to create a unified nation, for the people of America. He

What Is The Validity Of The Turing Test
Alan Turing was a famous British mathematician and computer scientist who was determined to
prove that machines at some point (possibly sometime in the future) would be able to surpass
humans in intelligence levels. In order to prove this true, he created what became to be known as,
The Turing Test. This test was basically to see if a computer could trick a person into believing
that it was human. It would be asked a series of questions, which would be compared to responses
of the human. It was designed so that one could judge the intelligence level of the computers
responses. Turing believed that if a human could not tell the difference between another human and
a computer, then it served as proof that a computer is equally intelligent as a human. Due to a large

This objection basically states that there is no machine out there that can feel or think in the way
that humans can when it comes to emotions, feeling pleasure, depression, embarrassment, and
other similar qualities, feelings, and emotions. Therefore due to machines lacking these feelings
there is no way that they can be more intelligent than humans. It is explaining a rejection of the
validity of Turing s test. It takes it a step further by saying not only can these machines not
express its thoughts and/or feelings, but that one can not even be certain that a machine thinks,
unless you can be that machine and feel oneself actually thinking. Basically the only way that we
could possibly know if the machine has these thoughts or feelings would be if one could be the
actual machine itself. Then it would require some form of self consciousness. This is following
the solipsist point of view, which is the theory that the self is all that can be known to exist.
However, this would not only hold true for machines, but for humans as well. Then, the only way to
be certain that a particular person is thinking, would be to be that particular

Reasons For Appeasement In Ww2
The definition of appeasement is to make a concession to an enemy power to avoid conflict; which
it was supposed to in WW2. Although appeasement is designed to avoid conflict, some believe that
the appeasement in WW2 just created more conflict and ended up lengthening the war. There are
numerous reasons as to why appeasementwas the right option for Great Britain and France and as
to why they not only wanted, but needed to appease. Examples of these reasons are the US

Negative Effects On Oil Spills
Oil spills wreak havoc on many different factors of the world. They can negatively impact the
environment, specifically marine life, and economic industries, as well. Most oil spills occur
when a large amount of oil is released due to accidents of vehicles or machinery. Although it can
occur anywhere, it s most visible in oceans or bodies of water. Spills can be because of human
error or accident, natural disasters, or faulty equipment. Additional problems arise because spills
take a significant amount of time to clean. The oil spreads across the body of water and floats on
the surface, preventing sunlight from passing. This can cause substantial damage and harm to the
animal and plant life. Spills also cover wildlife in oil, which can expose animals to dangerous
elements, and destroy the insulating ability of fur mammals and the water repelling ability of
birds. Oil contains poisonous chemicals, and when animals ingest or inhale this oil, they are often
infected or killed. They also pollute bodies of water and contaminate human water resources. Toxic
substances in the oil cause extensive damage to the ecosystem and food chains. They also have a
significant influence on the economic industries. Oil spills mean that there s less gas and petroleum
available for public use. There s always the cost of cleaning the spill, which may require outside or
expensive assistance. The tourism industry also takes a hit, especially in usually popular areas,
such as Florida beaches. The once beautiful attractions become ugly and gross, covered in dead
animals and tarballs balls of oil. This prevents recreational activities such as parasailing, swimming,
rafting, etc. This thereby ruins the businesses that run the activities and the tourism industries,
hurting the economic status of the state or country. However, there are many solutions, including
preventative, preparedness, and cleanup methods. Preventative methods start at the initial building
of the equipment that will later produce, hold, and transport oil. Proper training on how to
conduct oil procedures should also be enforced for the employees who will later have to handle oil.
These measures decrease the likelihood of an oil spillhappening later. Preparedness

The English Church Exposed in Canterbury Tales Essay
The 14th Century is a time in which the power of the English Church started to vanish because of
multiple reasons. And Geoffrey Chaucer s greatest work, the Canterbury Tales, can be a good
evidence of the profligacy and immorality of the England Church at that time. In this magnificent
piece of English literature, Chaucer expresses both his disappointment and admiration for the
England Church through many different Church pilgrims form high social class to common people.
By his description about the living qualities and moral standards of the various Church people, we
can see that Chaucer thinks the English Church is a greedy institution where money comes before
religion. And the Churchmen s lavish personal lives indicate that most of the... Show more content

And from the clothes the descriptions of the Churchmen s physical appearance and their
possessions, we can tell most of their life styles are extremely lavish. The monk is very tan,
because he spent a lot of time outside and only men were wealthy can afford to relax or hunt
outside. He also owns a lot of horses, which is another sign of wealth. And the nun has very good
clothes and rosary. But the parson, who is opposite whom from most the Church people and really
preaches and teaches, is the only one who is in poverty. So it is obvious that Chaucer thinks the
Church doesn t appreciate those who are truly dedicated to Christianity but gives the special
privileges to those who have power and greed. Maybe because of the general voracious
circumstance of the Church, most of the Churchmen in Chaucer s Tale are not holy or even moral
in life. They put the traditional Christian rules behind and do things that are clearly forbidden in
either Bible or in St. Benedict. The monk, as an example, thinks hunting and eating are the biggest
fun in life. Hunters are considered unholy men because of they take killing as entrainment and
pleasure. But the monk ignores that rule and even wants to convince other people to think that
hunting is a holy thing. His lavish life is nowhere near the abstemious life style that is required in
St. Benedict. Unfortunaly the monk is not the only one ignores the rules of Christianity.

Summary Of A Good Book Of Mice And Men
In A Teachable Good Book: Of Mice and Men , Thomas Scarseth, presents examples to argue
why John Steinbeck s book, Of Mice and Men, is a good book to learn from. Even though people
enjoy a light, carefree story with a happy ending, Scarseth explains why the vulgar content of
OMAM, that would turn some readers away, is needed for the story to have meaning.
Referring to what great literature looks like, Thomas Scarseth has a decent idea. In his
assessment, Scarseth claims great writers and readers know that sour endings in literature works
are sometimes crucial. His opinions on what makes a great writer and reader makes sense
because he is an English professor at University of Wisconsin La Crosse. Because this is an
essay and likely to be read by scholars and students, it is reasonable that the author would say, But
the greatest writers and the best readers know that literature is not always only mere sugar candy;
it can sometimes be a strong medicine... , as he is either praising or insulting the readers
intelligence based on their point of view on happy endings in literature. Realistic tragedy in
literature is unpleasant to the people who believe in idealistic happy endings. Unfortunately, tragic
endings are necessary for prosperous knowledge, which is what great readers and writers gain
from these literature types called Tragedy. From here, it can be argued that Scarseth is correct about
the needed bitter endings. When reading, He pulled the trigger (Steinbeck 106),

My Experience At The Art Classroom
The clichГ© and overused posters at the back caught my attention as soon as I entered the art

Social And Cultural Context Of Psychology
Katja Gavrilina
Define the term Psychology and discuss its history in light of social and cultural context,
highlighting the significance of different perspectives in Psychology.
Psychology is defined as the scientific study of mental processes and human behaviour. It had
roots in philosophy and physiology, before becoming an independent scientific discipline in the
late 1800 s. Descartes (1641) suggested that the mind and the body work separately, together
creating the human experience (Mastin L. 2008). This idea of so called dualism shaped a number
of on going discussions in modern psychology, such as the nature nurture debate. In 1879 the first
experimental laboratory was founded by Wilhelm Wundt, in Leipzig, Germany. This fundamental
moment is referred to as the birth of Psychology.
Until the 1900 s psychologists mainly studied the conscious human experience. Sigmund Freud,
Austrian physician, caused a ground breaking shift in this field (1890 s 1930 s). He brought special
importance to the unconscious mind, arguing that early childhood experiences and unconscious
urges shape our adult personality. He emphasized the importance of sex and stages of early
development. Contributing psychoanalysis in the 20th century, Freud had an enormous impact on
the field of Psychology. His theory is unscientific and based on his individual cases, which makes
it hard to generalize his assumptions. Freud s work was also criticized by feminist Karen Horney,

Solidarity In The Film Mcfarland Usa
Solidarity is the common belief that everyone is equal and it is everyone s job to help one
another, including the poor, sick, and vulnerable. It is knowing we are all equal under the eyes
of God. Regardless of race, economic status, religion, and languages, we are all the same.
Solidarity brings people together and strengthens them. The movie does a great job of
supporting this idea because it shows that no matter what your race is or the color of your skin,
anyone can be a great runner. One example of solidarity in the movie was when they first started
becoming a team. The other teams and runners made fun of them because they were mexican.
This rivalry bonded the boy s and pushed them to become good enough to beat them. Also, when
they are running in the race , if one person goes a little faster, that encourages another person to
do the same, and it becomes a cycle where the whole team is pushing each other and as a result
they all benefit from it. I think it is important to note that if they didn t run as a team, they would
no doubt achieve significantly less. When you are running as a team it pushes you to keep going,
whereas if you are alone you would just stop. Each individual member of the team is strengthened
by solidarity and as a result the whole team is stronger. Another example of solidarity in the... Show

Essay on Benito Cereno by Herman Melville
Benito Cereno by Herman Melville
In many stories, the main characters carry the plot of a story throughout the book. The author often
expresses the message that he desires the reader to receive through their thoughts and actions. Yet,
the minor characters often have a large affect on the outcome of the book, although it is not quite
as obvious to the reader. By altering the thoughts or actions of the main characters, a seemingly
minor player in a novel may actually, at closer examination, be an important player in the plot. In
the short story Benito Cereno, by Herman Melville, the minor character, Atufal, largely influenced

Cereno as to why he was treating the slave with such cruelty. Atufal s performance caused Delano
to believe that Cereno was in control of the happenings on the boat, and that his prior concerns
about the role of the Negroes on the San Dominick should be put to rest.
Delano did not do much more than shortly entertain the idea that the blacks were, in fact, in
control of the Spanish vessel because of what he witnessed in the situation of Atufal. Atufal
affected the plot because he caused Delano to doubt his suspicions, which therefore played a
major role in the actions of this main character. The observations of Atufal by Delano greatly
helped to form his attitude towards the Negroes upon the ship. The supposed cruelty of Don
Cereno towards the slave Atufal created an image of obedience by the blacks in Delano s mind.
Delano thought, But [the Negroes] were too stupid (177). Perhaps if Atufal had not implanted
images of white supremacy aboard the ship, Captain Delano might have acted sooner in helping to
return the ship to Benito Cereno. In the classic story Benito Cereno, by Herman Melville, the minor
character Atufal greatly affected the opinions of the main character, Captain Delano, which
therefore plays a major part in the plot. Many times attention is not paid to the minor characters of

submissive to him is to avoid his cruel punishments when she does not comply with his decisions.
After experiencing his abuse, she realizes that her life benefits more when acting as the dutiful

Reasons For Banning Pitbulls
Pit bulls should not be banned. In recent years, bans have been put on Pit bulls in many areas.
Because of some bad dog owners that may train these dogs to attack or fight, few people view
Pitbulls as kind and loving pets. Most people have negative opinions about them because of what
they see on the news With a little education and some positive exposure, more of us would see just
how wonderful these dogs can be. Pitbulls are extremely protective. They are most likely to bark
at you, or maybe even growl. Its most common to have them bark at you, not for no reason, but
because they are trying to protect their owner. Yes, dogs bark for unnecessary reasons like the

Contributions And Durkheim On Suicide
Г‰mile Durkheim on suicide.
Г‰mile Durkheim was a French sociologist, social psychologist and philosopher. Durkheim had an
important impact on the development of sociology. Durkheim s studies into suicide helped me in
understanding it as an issue in contemporary society. His most significant contribution was his work
defining suicide in social terms rather than individual terms. He was interested in how suicide might
be influenced more by social context and have a broader interpretation beyond the
individual.Durkheim wanted to prove that social situations, characteristics, activities, interactions
etc, influence and control individual and person behavior rather than the other way around.
Durkheim wrote a book called Le Suicide in 1897. This was a groundbreaking book in the field of
sociology. In this book Durkheim explores the differing suicide rates that are among society. In the
book Durkheim also distinguishes between four different types of suicide making is easier to
understand. He talks about the different rates of suicides and how they differ ... Show more content

Each of Durkheim s hypothesis involve some aspect of social state or social gender, age,
occupation, religion, marital status etc. He wanted to show that suicide was to be thought of in
social terms not individual terms which it had been thought as. Durkheim was seen as one of the
Fathers of sociology and his work is greatly admired. Durkheim s research and hypotheses have
helped my understanding of suicide in social terms and has helped me in seeing the different types
of suicide and the different rates. His work has shown me not only look at suicide from an
individual point of view but to look at the individuals social setting and social influences around
them and see how those influences have impacted the

Flat Tire Persuasive Speech
Every person has seen or been someone that has ended up in the side of the road with a tire that
needs changing. You waste time waiting for someone that knows how to do the work and you just

happens to you. When you are on the road and you feel that you have a flat tire, the first step is to
look for a flat and table place where you can change the tire and be safe. After localizing the safe
spot, park the vehicle in a way that you can work in a safe environment. Put the vehicle in neutral
position till the engines calms then put parking and the emergency break. When you exit the
vehicle be careful with other moving vehicles in the road that may be passing near you.

Pediatric National Health Service ( Nhs )
Introduction
In 2013, surgeon specific outcome data were made publicly available across a range of surgical
specialties by the English National Health Service (NHS). This initial stimulus was the Kennedy
Inquiry in 2001, whereby two surgeons were disciplined for having mortality rates that exceeded
the norm, and led to the reporting of surgeon specific mortality data for all cardiothoracic surgery
units in the UK (1). Following this, mounting pressures for increased transparency and disclosure
within healthcare arose, stemming from instances such as the 2005 Freedom of Information Act
request filed by the Guardian newspaper and the Francis report (2). These led to the eventual
publication of Surgeon specific mortality data (SSMD), presenting the crude risk adjusted mortality
rates for individual surgeons over a number of surgical procedures. Besides the stated aim of
increasing transparency, further drivers of SSMD publication were to enhance patient safety by
enabling the detection of underperforming surgeons regarded as outliers , deliver improved data for
healthcare commissioners, and to aid the public in making informed decisions about their care (3).
However, since its release there has been much controversy surrounding the meaningfulness of
SSMD due to its potential negative impact (4).
Concerns over the quality of the data have been raised as the initial SSMD was derived from
existing national surgical audit databases. However, the designs of these audits were not

Illusion Of Explanatory Depth
It is difficult to avoid but rather uncomplicated to fix. The illusion of explanatory depth arises
whenever one thinks they know something better than they actually do. In many labs types of
research will measure and correct by asking bystanders topics like, how well do you know how
to tie your shoe or even how does a phone charger simply charges your phone. This powerful
concept was discovered by Leinid Rozenblit and Frank Keil in 2002, they stated: Most people
feel they understand the world with far great detail, coherence, and depth than they really do.
Various studies proved that self knowledge drastically decreased when participants were put to the
test to explain how the task in question operates. The illusion of explanatory depth is often called
IOED for short. Adam Waytz stated in his article A survey was given in 2014 and discovered that
at most, six out of ten Americans only read news headlines and nothing more When one
understands the illusion of explanatory depth it will allow them to combat political extremism.
Assistant professor Philip Fernbach and staff showed that Illusion of explanatory depth clearly was
the cause of other policy positions on multiple issues. Due to all the studies focusing on IOED
many suggested that it is powerful for cooling heated disagreements politically. Behind this

Moral Characters In Macbeth
Moral characters are critical throughout Shakespearean tragedies and often offer the voice of
reason that is usually lost in the play. In Macbeth, there s no clear voice of reason; rather all
goodness in the play is usually killed off by Macbeth. The first major character that died, Duncan,
had acted more on his potential for goodness. He did his best to ensure the safety of his citizens
and was an accurate representation of the divine right of kings. Contrary to Duncan, Macbethhad
the immense ambition to become king which enabled him to act on his potential for evil. The
only character that could manage both of their potentials was Macduff, The Thane of Fife.
Macduff could act on his emotion regardless of evil or good but what differentiates him from
Macbeth is his ability to not act on emotion when it was not called for. Macduff is the closest the
play comes to having a moral center as he is the intermediary of King Duncan s rationality and
goodness, and of Macbeth s evil ambition
Doctors throughout the 16th century were more involved in their patient s life. Not only did
they take part in their physical health but they also took the role of a therapist and often times
gave advice. They were trusted because doctors usually had the patients best interest in mind.
For this reason, the Gentle Woman called upon the doctor once Lady Macbeth started acting
strange and sleepwalking during the night. Lady Macbeth told of her husband murders but the
doctor decided to Protect the Queen s confidences when her sudden disclosure placed him in an
ethical dilemma (Canadian Medical Association). Upon seeing the horror instilled in Lady
Macbeth s face and in her words, the Doctor said More needs she the divine than the physician.
/ God, God, forgive us all! (V.ii.74 75). The specific use of the word all is crucial because the
doctor is making a statement about humanity, not only Lady Macbeth. The doctor is stating the
potential for goodness is equal to the potential for evil. Macduff understood this potential once he
saw Macbeth in de casibus. Macduff being the only one to question Macbeth, quote, is further
proof that shared the doctor s message. This evilness is what took control of Macbeth s life and the
goodness

Ethical Issues In Animal Testing
The second factor to take into consideration consists on the ethical considerations of animal
experiments, as animals have the ability to suffer just like humans do. Under some circumstances,
a major key issue of testing animals implicates pain and suffering, which is not considered by
laboratories. Many researchers still frequently use live animals in their experiments and before they
research is done, the pain and distress potential which can be inflicted on the creatures needs to be
evaluated in order to minimize these living beings suffering (Carbone, 2011). The same author
states that it is crucial to find a way to treat humandiseases and severe injuries without causing any
pain to these animals, and the best way to achieve this is by recognizing that animals suffer pain in
the first place. This has already been achieved in some places, such as in Britain, where the

Nevertheless, a public opinion poll has shown the approval of the use of animals in biomedical
research because it leads to discovering new treatments and cures, along with the belief that it does
not cause any pain in animals (Saraf and Kumaraswamy, 2013). Accordingly, the authors after the
public opinion believed that all institutes for research should create an animal care and ethical
committee that would give the consent that deems the use of the animal necessary only when there
are no suitable alternatives, and this committee should be indispensable previous to any in vivo

Athletes Use Drugs For A Variety Of Reasons
Athletes use drugs for a variety of reasons, such as coping with stress or to enhance their quality of
performance, and the effects of using performance enhancing drugs can have long term effects on
an individual s life.
A commonly used drug in athletes goes by the name of anabolic steroids. The best way to help
clarify your understanding of the importance of anabolic steroids is to define these steroids as a
synthetic way to acquire the male sex hormone testosterone. The proper name for these steroids are
anabolic androgenic steroids of which anabolic refers to muscle building and androgenic refers to
increasing male sex characteristics. In sports, athletes use anabolic steroids to assist them in
performing with more speed and strength, and endure more pain than normal. The way in which
anabolic steroids build muscle strength is by entering into muscle cells and shifting on the genes
that assemble muscle proteins.
In connection to the history of anabolic steroids, androgenic agents, or drugs of resemblance,
weren t recently discovered. Performance enhancing drugs in sports date back to BC 776, Greek
Olympians. As the world and technology progress, performance enhancing drugs have become
more efficient, which has increased the use of these drugs and the results of using anabolic steroids
have increased.

Founded by Russell Little and Robyn Steiner based on rhetoric from Communists and South
American revolutionaries (Suellentrop, 2002), as a result original focus of the small group was
on prison reform. In 1972, an African American and California penal inmate by the name of
Donald DeFreeze escapes from prison and utilizes the SLA as a support network while evading
recapture. By 1973 DeFreeze threatens the life of Steiner, causing her to flee the country, and
subsequently garners the leading role of the SLA. DeFreeze steers the organization down a path of
violence. On November 6, 1973, the SLA shot and killed Marcus Foster, Oakland s
superintendent of schools, with bullets laced with cyanide . (History.com Staff, 2009) In 1974
the SLA kidnapped Patty Hearst, during the kidnapping Hearst s fiancГ© was beaten
unconscious. Hearst is from an affluent family, a variable that the SLA capitalizes upon by
ransoming Hearst for substantial food donations to the poor by Hearst s family. Following the
ransom being paid, in the sum of a $2 million food donation, Hearst declines her release and
instead adopts the name Tania, for Tania Burke, Che Guevara s lover . (Suellentrop, 2002)
Within two weeks, Hearst is captured on camera as an active participant in an SLA bank
robbery. The following month, Hearst fires at the store with a submachine gun and a carbine
from the window of a van outside (Suellentrop, 2002) in an attempt to aid the escape of two SLA
members who were caught shop lifting. Members of the SLA then underwent a shootout with
swat in which six members were killed including DeFreeze. Hearst plays an active role in
relaunching the SLA in 1974. In 1975, the SLA robs the Crocker National Bank and
unsuccessfully bombs two LAPD police cruisers. By September of 1975, Hearst and other
members of the SLA are arrested for changes of bank robbery. At the time of her

Great ruled Russia with an iron fist, she knew the secrets of how to gain the love of her people
and how to please the nobles of her land. Catherine was able to get away treason and murder and

Catherine the Great as she is more often called, was born on May 2, 1729 in Stettin, Prussia, she

Elizabeth persisted in having Catherine go on numerous bloodletting treatments, while Johanna
was against the procedure. As Catherine recovered, the relationship between her and Grand
Duke Peter grew. The couple soon became engaged and Catherine even converted to the Russian
Orthodox faith. With her new religion, she also received a new name, Yekaterina or Catherine.
On August 21, 1745, Catherine II was married to Grand Duke Peter, and became a grand
duchess of the Russian royal family. To the public eye she and Peter proved to be a happy
couple, but Peter was childish and unsophisticated. Her husband would rather play with toy
soldiers and mistresses, than spend time with his wife. With so much time on her hands,
Catherine took up many pastimes such as reading. Since Catherine and Peter had a distance
relationship, they didn t have children until nine years after they were married. Although, on
September 20, 1754 she gave birth to her first birth son, Paul. The legitimacy of the child was
called into question by a few scholar who believe the father of the child is Sergi Saltykov, a
Russian noble and member of the court. Others protested that Paul resembled Peter, leading them to
believe he was the father. During Paul s childhood, Catherine got to spend very little time with him
as Elizabeth took over raising him. When Empress Elizabeth died on December 25,1761, Catherine

Manette Vs Carton
A Tale of Two Cities depicts what life was like before and during the French Revolution. Many
heroes emerge as people continue to die from the guillotine. Charles Darnay, Dr. Manette, and
Sydney Carton become heroes by saving each other and themselves. Charles Darnay lives in
what seems as a life of luxury to the people around him. He is an Evremonde, and he is not proud
to have the family name as they have a history of repressing the people. When his uncle, the
Marquis, is murdered, Darnay leaves the chateau to Gabelle to take care of it as he makes his
way to London to begin a new life as Charles Darnay. This courageous act of leaving everything
that is known to him to create a new life for himself makes Darnay a hero. He goes to London...

They use this to their advantage again when Darnay is sentenced to death in Paris after being
denounced and found guilty; however, the real Darnay does not have his head severed off by
the guillotine s blade. Carton is able to take his spot, freeing Darnay to be with Lucie. This
keeps his promise to Lucie that he would do anything for Lucie and anyone dear to her heart.
Carton makes this promise before any of them depart to Paris since he knew Lucie could never
love him the way he loves her. Hours before the execution, he comes into Darnay s cell that
Barsad unlocks. Carton drugs Darnay until he passes out, allowing them to switch places.
Barsad takes Darnay to safety while Carton makes his way to his death. ... it was the peacefullest
man s face ever beheld there ... he looked sublime and prophetic (Dickens 366). Even though
Darnay and Dr. Manette are courageous, Carton has the most heroic actions. He gives away his
life, so Lucie can live a long and happy one with Darnay. Carton could have let Darnay die and
return to London with the Manettes, hoping that Lucie would love him. Instead, he brings
purpose back into his life by sacrificing himself for the happiness of those that are dear to him. It

  • 2. How Dietary Tracking Is Important For People With Diet... Dietary tracking is very important for people with diet related health issues, people trying to lose weight, and just understanding and keeping everyday nutritional health. Many websites, applications, and devices have dietary tracking databases that need the food to be inputted, and selected from a large list (ChooseMyPlate, 2016; SuperTracker, 2015; SelfNutritionData, 2016; Fontana, Farooq, Sazonov, 2014). This process can take 20 30 minutes for a diverse meal, which requires users to sit down and input everything they eat. Eating foods with unlabeled packaging makes it nearly impossible to track and input its nutritional value. With the Om Nom NoMonitor food profiling technology, the user will no longer have to worry about unlabeled foods. The Om Nom NoMonitor has software that can analyze a picture taken directly from a mobile phone using technology similar to facial recognition, and then display statistics and log it into a digital food journal (University of Salzburg, 2016). This product would be the best solution for this issue. The Om Nom NoMonitor would be represented most accurately and commercially feasible by a smartphone and downloadable app. The key aspects of this solution are Science and Technology. Sciencetifically, the project must incorporate Food Science and Nutritional Science to catalog the various qualities different foods possess and how that affects health. Technology is the major element, as new software must be either created or adapted, along ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ethnographic Analysis Of Apple Airpod The production of a box is very difficult and complicated. It all depends on what you are shipping and where you are shipping it to. If you are shipping a big heavy item you will need a big sturdy box if you are shipping a product far distance you may need something like a crate. It all depends on the size. Boxdimensions are displayed as: Length x Width x Depth that determines how big or small the box may be. For example let s say AmazonВ® ships a smartphone to me I ll have to measure the smartphones length width and depth and multiply them all together to get the total area of the phone. I ll use the measurements of the new Iphone X the height is 5.65 inches the width is 2.79 inches and the depth is 0.30 inches. These are the total measurements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That s just the phone you have to leave space for the wall charger and AirPods. The measurements of the Apple Airpods are 1.74 by 0.84 by 2.11 inches. The area of the Apple Airpods are 3 inches squared. The measurements for the wall charger are 1.62 x 1.3 x 0.81 and the area is 2 inches squared. Now that we have found the area of all the items in the box we have to add all of the areas of the other items like wall charger and AirPods plus the phone itself. When these are all added this will determine what the total area is. When all the areas are added up you ll get 10 inches squared as the area of the box. No that the area is found we can determine how expensive or inexpensive the boxes might me. The fact that Apple ships hundred of thousands of Iphone X s a day are crucial because the boxes cost money too that means that they spend millions of dollars on boxing a year which means they have to make an affordable safe box that won t break the phone in shipping or have the box get damaged too quickly. If they make the boxes to expensive it can lead to Apple losing more money than they earn. One way Apple makes the Iphone ten box an inexpensive box by keeping all of the items tight in. That means there will be no use for extra foam or other excessive items to keep the phone from breaking or cracking (discluding thin plastic around ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Return of Martin Guerre Starting with the premodern society and moving on to our modern society I will compare and contrast the two societies. In the film The Return of Martin Guerre, the people lived on a pre modern society. They lived in a agricultural society and this was shown by many reasons. First they had permanent homes and used animals as well as tools to work their crops. They also used a crop rotation instead of burning the land. This is just a basic outline of the society that Martin lived in. Looking deeper into their social structure their society was much different than a modern one. As far as statuses and roles, Martins society believe that status was more ascribed than achieved. This meant that being an older person or a parent meant you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Events such as marriage were shared and talked about and doing things as an individual wasnot common, like Martin originally leaving the village. Another example is that when the travelers came into town they were not seen as trustworthy even though they claimed that the person they called Martin was Arnaud. became suspicious not only of the strangers but also Arnaud. Going onto our modern society there is a clear contrast but some similarities between now and the premodern society. First, looking at the type of society we live in it is considered a information society. Unlike agricultural, which was based off of growing crops and creating a food surplus, we create and store information. We divide our labor like the ag. society but it is highly specialized work. People in an information society also have a permanent settlement, instead of living in a village we live in suburban residences outside of large cities. Included in this is commuting for work which means people now have to travel farther distances to work. The main social focus is based off of consumption not production like agricultural. Finally, children are seen more as expensive not a helping hand or insurance when you get older like the premodern societies. Going to statuses and roles in a modern society, there are very little similarities to the premodern. Unlike premodern, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, many people do not express his or her right to vote because they feel like their vote will not matter. Additionally, many individuals just look for the republican or democratic candidate and conduct little research as to the candidate s political views. I, however, look for three important aspects before voting for an individual; His or her stance of education, the environment, and whether I feel they are genuine in their promises. Since I am a special education major, education is important to me; not only for a job, but for the future of our country. • 6. Lansdowne Hercules Research Paper Discovered in 1790 on Hadrian s Villa in Tivoli, Italy, Lansdowne Heracles is an iconic structure that has withstood the test of time. It is the statue of Greek hero Hercules (known as Herakles by the Greeks), and he is best known the Twelve Labours he carried out for King Euryntheus of Argos. Ancient artists usually portrayed Hercules as wearing or holding associated with these achievements, and this is why in The J. Paul Getty Museum the Lansdowne Heraclesis shown holding a club and a lion s skin, which was his first labour for the King. Another feature prominent in Lansdowne Heracles is that Hercules is always shown as being nude, and this is because historically in Greece, male nudity was considered the highest form of beauty. This is the reason most Greek statues are nude. Since the statue was discovered in Italy, questions arise as to whether Lansdowne Heracles is Roman or Greek. Considering the facts that will be presented here, history of the Greek and the fact that Hercules was a Greek hero, the sculpture must be Greek. While archeologists are unanimous that the Statue of Hercules was sculptured in a Roman workshop in the 2nd century A.D, they believe that it was inspired by another Greek statue now lost sculptured by the... The Nemean lion was a beast found on the hills of Nemea, which were located in Greece. Subsequent feats that he undertook were all around Greece and therefore, this is enough proof that the structure could be Greek rather than Roman. When Hercules died, he was carried to Mount Olympus by Athena where he spent the rest of his eternity as a god (Scott, 2013). Most statues of Hercules are sculptured to portray him as a god, and since this mythology originated from ancient Greece, it is only right to assume that the sculpture is ... Why were they mentioned so frequently? There are mountains of other groups of early Americans. Why did people just mention Puritans instead of other. Everything started after the English Reformation. For the religions freedom, the first group of British started to leave to the new world. They are known as Pilgrims toady. Instead of giving up their religions in England, Puritans tried to purify the churches in the country. However, they dejectedly started their journey to the new world later on. And then they transported more Puritans through this joint stock company to their new colony Massachusetts Bay Colony. Later on, the money that the Massachusetts Bay Company gained became capital to create new lives in New English and as a simulation of economics to all colonies. The government used the local taxes to build up churches and supported schools. One of the most powerful religious leaders at that time called John Winthrop even stated that the Massachusetts Bay Colony must become city on a hill . (study.com). Because of the increasing amount of Puritans who arrived in the colony and abundant capitals, puritans established more towns and communities. Instead of growing only one kind of crops, Puritans preferred to plant multiple types of crops. This behavior helped them succeed in the economy. Many mighty heroes had attempted to clear this dungeon, and many more had fallen victim to its traps and servants. The hero that had delved the deepest and survived, refused to descend into it once more. He proceeded to spend the money he gained and expended his influence to purchase a vast swath of land around the dungeon. Nearly seventy years since and Heinrick the legendary dungeon crawler, the man who had nearly conquered Malphas, was returning to the dungeon. He had with him an item he spent his remaining wealth searching for and obtaining. It was rumored to be able to instantly teleport you to a dungeons core, at the cost of all but ten days of your remaining lifespan. Most people would never try to get their hands on an item like this, much less use one. But Heinrick had a vendetta against this dungeon. What those who worshiped him didn t know, is that this dungeon had cursed him. At his level he should have nearly eighty years left and still be looking as if he were at the peak of his youth. Now he could feel himself growing weaker by the day and his once handsome visage has melted to a horrid forgery. Entering the very first floor of the dungeon Heinrick could see the ... The Alamo was a deadly battle in the 1830s over the independence of Texas from Mexico. The Alamo was a battle between the Mexicans, and the Texans. The battle was fought over things such as slavery and to break independence. (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen? Paragraph 2). The battle started on February 23, 1836 to March 6, 1836. The Texans wanted independence from the Mexicans, which caused a war. Many people, over 1600 died, and only a few survived, including Susannah Dickinson and her infant (The Alamo. Paragraph 2). Towards the end, Santa Anna, a general, was captured. Anna agreed to recognize Texan independence and told his Mexican forces to leave the state (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen? Paragraph 4). Most of the Texans were colonizers. They were looking for wealth, and were happy to take the acres of land the Mexicans were giving (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen? Paragraph 1). On February 23, one hundred fifty men waited outside of the Alamo. Only a few who approached the Mexicans were Texans (Ramsdell 30). • 17. Explain The Two Step Flow Theory The Two Step Flow theory dates back to the 1940s where Paul Lazarsfeld, Bernard Berelson and Hazel Gaudet wrote a book called People s Choice that summarized the analysis of the November 1940 Presidential elections. The research revealed that people are more likely to be influenced by other people rather than the mass media. They called these other people; opinion leaders. (Scannel, 2007). The theory is a key theory in understanding people s decision making processes, in this case being the voting behaviours. The theory suggests that firstly, opinion leaders pay close attention to mass mediaand then they pass on their interpretation of media messages to the public, influencing their decisions. Unlike the hypodermic needle theory, the two step flow theory acknowledges that audiences are active participants in the communicationprocess and are seen as a part of the society. • 21. The Delivery Of Public Service There are mistakes, maladministration and misunderstanding that may occur during the delivery of public service in the United Kingdom (UK). The citizens have a right to complain if they feel aggrieved. There are many citizens who normally complain not only for their benefit but to ensure that the public service is improved so that it can cater for the needs of the citizens and so that the same mistakes are not inflicted on others. However, there are instances when the complaints are not resolved by the said service provider. In such an instance when an individual feels that the complaint has not been fully addressed by the government agency, department or National Health Service (NHS) in England, then that individual has a right of asking for the complaint to be referred to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman(PHSO) or the individual can personally refer the matter to the PHSO. This paper seeks to discuss the single reform of the PHSO that would best serve the interests of administrative justice. An Ombudsman may be defined as an officer appointed to investigate citizen s complaints against injustice or maladministration by public officials. The concept of the Ombudsman is anchored on the idea that citizens have a right of complaining against specific actions of omission or commission by public officials. The Ombudsman therefore has investigative powers vested on him and which include investigating the internal workings of departments or entire organization. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Validity Of The Turing Test Alan Turing was a famous British mathematician and computer scientist who was determined to prove that machines at some point (possibly sometime in the future) would be able to surpass humans in intelligence levels. In order to prove this true, he created what became to be known as, The Turing Test. This test was basically to see if a computer could trick a person into believing that it was human. It would be asked a series of questions, which would be compared to responses of the human. It was designed so that one could judge the intelligence level of the computers responses. Turing believed that if a human could not tell the difference between another human and a computer, then it served as proof that a computer is equally intelligent as a human. Due to a large ... It takes it a step further by saying not only can these machines not express its thoughts and/or feelings, but that one can not even be certain that a machine thinks, unless you can be that machine and feel oneself actually thinking. Basically the only way that we could possibly know if the machine has these thoughts or feelings would be if one could be the actual machine itself. • 31. Negative Effects On Oil Spills Oil spills wreak havoc on many different factors of the world. They can negatively impact the environment, specifically marine life, and economic industries, as well. Most oil spills occur when a large amount of oil is released due to accidents of vehicles or machinery. Although it can occur anywhere, it s most visible in oceans or bodies of water. Spills can be because of human error or accident, natural disasters, or faulty equipment. Additional problems arise because spills take a significant amount of time to clean. The oil spreads across the body of water and floats on the surface, preventing sunlight from passing. This can cause substantial damage and harm to the animal and plant life. Spills also cover wildlife in oil, which can expose animals to dangerous elements, and destroy the insulating ability of fur mammals and the water repelling ability of birds. Oil contains poisonous chemicals, and when animals ingest or inhale this oil, they are often infected or killed. They also pollute bodies of water and contaminate human water resources. Toxic substances in the oil cause extensive damage to the ecosystem and food chains. They also have a significant influence on the economic industries. Oil spills mean that there s less gas and petroleum available for public use. There s always the cost of cleaning the spill, which may require outside or expensive assistance. The tourism industry also takes a hit, especially in usually popular areas, such as Florida beaches. The once beautiful attractions become ugly and gross, covered in dead animals and tarballs balls of oil. This prevents recreational activities such as parasailing, swimming, rafting, etc. This thereby ruins the businesses that run the activities and the tourism industries, hurting the economic status of the state or country. However, there are many solutions, including preventative, preparedness, and cleanup methods. Preventative methods start at the initial building of the equipment that will later produce, hold, and transport oil. Proper training on how to conduct oil procedures should also be enforced for the employees who will later have to handle oil. These measures decrease the likelihood of an oil spillhappening later. • 32. The English Church Exposed in Canterbury Tales Essay The 14th Century is a time in which the power of the English Church started to vanish because of multiple reasons. And Geoffrey Chaucer s greatest work, the Canterbury Tales, can be a good evidence of the profligacy and immorality of the England Church at that time. In this magnificent piece of English literature, Chaucer expresses both his disappointment and admiration for the England Church through many different Church pilgrims form high social class to common people. By his description about the living qualities and moral standards of the various Church people, we can see that Chaucer thinks the English Church is a greedy institution where money comes before religion. And from the clothes the descriptions of the Churchmen s physical appearance and their possessions, we can tell most of their life styles are extremely lavish. The monk is very tan, because he spent a lot of time outside and only men were wealthy can afford to relax or hunt outside. He also owns a lot of horses, which is another sign of wealth. And the nun has very good clothes and rosary. But the parson, who is opposite whom from most the Church people and really preaches and teaches, is the only one who is in poverty. So it is obvious that Chaucer thinks the Church doesn t appreciate those who are truly dedicated to Christianity but gives the special privileges to those who have power and greed. Maybe because of the general voracious circumstance of the Church, most of the Churchmen in Chaucer s Tale are not holy or even moral in life. They put the traditional Christian rules behind and do things that are clearly forbidden in either Bible or in St. Benedict. The monk, as an example, thinks hunting and eating are the biggest fun in life. Hunters are considered unholy men because of they take killing as entrainment and pleasure. But the monk ignores that rule and even wants to convince other people to think that hunting is a holy thing. His lavish life is nowhere near the abstemious life style that is required in St. Benedict. Unfortunaly the monk is not the only one ignores the rules of Christianity. ... • 33. Summary Of A Good Book Of Mice And Men In A Teachable Good Book: Of Mice and Men , Thomas Scarseth, presents examples to argue why John Steinbeck s book, Of Mice and Men, is a good book to learn from. Even though people enjoy a light, carefree story with a happy ending, Scarseth explains why the vulgar content of OMAM, that would turn some readers away, is needed for the story to have meaning. Referring to what great literature looks like, Thomas Scarseth has a decent idea. In his assessment, Scarseth claims great writers and readers know that sour endings in literature works are sometimes crucial. His opinions on what makes a great writer and reader makes sense because he is an English professor at University of Wisconsin La Crosse. Because this is an essay and likely to be read by scholars and students, it is reasonable that the author would say, But the greatest writers and the best readers know that literature is not always only mere sugar candy; it can sometimes be a strong medicine... , as he is either praising or insulting the readers intelligence based on their point of view on happy endings in literature. Realistic tragedy in literature is unpleasant to the people who believe in idealistic happy endings. Unfortunately, tragic endings are necessary for prosperous knowledge, which is what great readers and writers gain from these literature types called Tragedy. From here, it can be argued that Scarseth is correct about the needed bitter endings. When reading, He pulled the trigger (Steinbeck 106), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Experience At The Art Classroom The clichГ© and overused posters at the back caught my attention as soon as I entered the art classroom, making me look at the art teacher in disappointment. My young art teacher walked to her seat at the front right corner wearing glasses that made her look sixty. The tables in the art room stood in a u shape, which supposedly made us students more social and creative . The white board in the front of the room filled with scribbles of drawings used for other classes. I could smell the vanilla scented candle in the air that the teacher kept at all times on her desk. I walked to my assigned seatat the front right corner where I saw my friend, Michayla, flash me a smile. All the other seats and desks empty. I came early. As soon as I sat at my desk, my friend started gushing about how amazing her weekend was. Everything she said I, admittedly, ignored. I thought about the quote I read in my favorite book before I came to class. Whatever you are physically...strong or weak, ill or healthy all those things matter less than what your heart contains. All those other things, they are the glass that contains the lamp, but you are the light inside. I shook my head, diverting my attention to the long pointy needles and black papers that our art teacher put on the center of the table, and took one of the pointy needles. • 36. Social And Cultural Context Of Psychology Katja Gavrilina Define the term Psychology and discuss its history in light of social and cultural context, highlighting the significance of different perspectives in Psychology. Psychology is defined as the scientific study of mental processes and human behaviour. It had roots in philosophy and physiology, before becoming an independent scientific discipline in the late 1800 s. Descartes (1641) suggested that the mind and the body work separately, together creating the human experience (Mastin L. 2008). This idea of so called dualism shaped a number of on going discussions in modern psychology, such as the nature nurture debate. In 1879 the first experimental laboratory was founded by Wilhelm Wundt, in Leipzig, Germany. This fundamental moment is referred to as the birth of Psychology. Until the 1900 s psychologists mainly studied the conscious human experience. Sigmund Freud, Austrian physician, caused a ground breaking shift in this field (1890 s 1930 s). He brought special importance to the unconscious mind, arguing that early childhood experiences and unconscious urges shape our adult personality. He emphasized the importance of sex and stages of early development. Contributing psychoanalysis in the 20th century, Freud had an enormous impact on the field of Psychology. His theory is unscientific and based on his individual cases, which makes it hard to generalize his assumptions. Freud s work was also criticized by feminist Karen Horney, ... It is knowing we are all equal under the eyes of God. Regardless of race, economic status, religion, and languages, we are all the same. Solidarity brings people together and strengthens them. The movie does a great job of supporting this idea because it shows that no matter what your race is or the color of your skin, anyone can be a great runner. One example of solidarity in the movie was when they first started becoming a team. The other teams and runners made fun of them because they were mexican. This rivalry bonded the boy s and pushed them to become good enough to beat them. Also, when they are running in the race , if one person goes a little faster, that encourages another person to do the same, and it becomes a cycle where the whole team is pushing each other and as a result they all benefit from it. I think it is important to note that if they didn t run as a team, they would no doubt achieve significantly less. • 39. Essay on Benito Cereno by Herman Melville Benito Cereno by Herman Melville In many stories, the main characters carry the plot of a story throughout the book. The author often expresses the message that he desires the reader to receive through their thoughts and actions. Yet, the minor characters often have a large affect on the outcome of the book, although it is not quite as obvious to the reader. By altering the thoughts or actions of the main characters, a seemingly minor player in a novel may actually, at closer examination, be an important player in the plot. Delano felt sympathy towards the Negro, and questioned Don Cereno as to why he was treating the slave with such cruelty. Atufal s performance caused Delano to believe that Cereno was in control of the happenings on the boat, and that his prior concerns about the role of the Negroes on the San Dominick should be put to rest. Delano did not do much more than shortly entertain the idea that the blacks were, in fact, in control of the Spanish vessel because of what he witnessed in the situation of Atufal. Atufal affected the plot because he caused Delano to doubt his suspicions, which therefore played a major role in the actions of this main character. The observations of Atufal by Delano greatly helped to form his attitude towards the Negroes upon the ship. The supposed cruelty of Don Cereno towards the slave Atufal created an image of obedience by the blacks in Delano s mind. Delano thought, But [the Negroes] were too stupid (177). Perhaps if Atufal had not implanted images of white supremacy aboard the ship, Captain Delano might have acted sooner in helping to return the ship to Benito Cereno. In the classic story Benito Cereno, by Herman Melville, the minor character Atufal greatly affected the opinions of the main character, Captain Delano, which therefore plays a major part in the plot. This initial stimulus was the Kennedy Inquiry in 2001, whereby two surgeons were disciplined for having mortality rates that exceeded the norm, and led to the reporting of surgeon specific mortality data for all cardiothoracic surgery units in the UK (1). Following this, mounting pressures for increased transparency and disclosure within healthcare arose, stemming from instances such as the 2005 Freedom of Information Act request filed by the Guardian newspaper and the Francis report (2). These led to the eventual publication of Surgeon specific mortality data (SSMD), presenting the crude risk adjusted mortality rates for individual surgeons over a number of surgical procedures. Besides the stated aim of increasing transparency, further drivers of SSMD publication were to enhance patient safety by enabling the detection of underperforming surgeons regarded as outliers , deliver improved data for healthcare commissioners, and to aid the public in making informed decisions about their care (3). However, since its release there has been much controversy surrounding the meaningfulness of SSMD due to its potential negative impact (4). This powerful concept was discovered by Leinid Rozenblit and Frank Keil in 2002, they stated: Most people feel they understand the world with far great detail, coherence, and depth than they really do. • 49. Moral Characters In Macbeth Moral characters are critical throughout Shakespearean tragedies and often offer the voice of reason that is usually lost in the play. In Macbeth, there s no clear voice of reason; rather all goodness in the play is usually killed off by Macbeth. The first major character that died, Duncan, had acted more on his potential for goodness. He did his best to ensure the safety of his citizens and was an accurate representation of the divine right of kings. Contrary to Duncan, Macbethhad the immense ambition to become king which enabled him to act on his potential for evil. The only character that could manage both of their potentials was Macduff, The Thane of Fife. Macduff could act on his emotion regardless of evil or good but what differentiates him from Macbeth is his ability to not act on emotion when it was not called for. Macduff is the closest the play comes to having a moral center as he is the intermediary of King Duncan s rationality and goodness, and of Macbeth s evil ambition Doctors throughout the 16th century were more involved in their patient s life. Not only did they take part in their physical health but they also took the role of a therapist and often times gave advice. They were trusted because doctors usually had the patients best interest in mind. For this reason, the Gentle Woman called upon the doctor once Lady Macbeth started acting strange and sleepwalking during the night. Lady Macbeth told of her husband murders but the doctor decided to Protect the Queen s confidences when her sudden disclosure placed him in an ethical dilemma (Canadian Medical Association). Upon seeing the horror instilled in Lady Macbeth s face and in her words, the Doctor said More needs she the divine than the physician. / God, God, forgive us all! (V.ii.74 75). The specific use of the word all is crucial because the doctor is making a statement about humanity, not only Lady Macbeth. The doctor is stating the potential for goodness is equal to the potential for evil. Macduff understood this potential once he saw Macbeth in de casibus. The best way to help clarify your understanding of the importance of anabolic steroids is to define these steroids as a synthetic way to acquire the male sex hormone testosterone. The proper name for these steroids are anabolic androgenic steroids of which anabolic refers to muscle building and androgenic refers to increasing male sex characteristics. In sports, athletes use anabolic steroids to assist them in performing with more speed and strength, and endure more pain than normal.
