The Differences Between Latin America
Latin America is one region of the world known for its similarities across national borders, paired with
stark differences. While Latin American countries share cultural elements such as, language, religion,
and a colonial history, each society has developed differently in terms of political, economic, and
social organization. One major difference across Latin America is individual nations relationships with
family planning and abortion systems. Each country s stance on the morality of abortion,
contraception, reproduction, and sexuality, differs from its neighbors and the region at large. In some
cases the difference is visible within national borders, such as in Mexico, where abortion is only legal
inside the capital city (Fondo Maria). In other cases the countries themselves are homogenous in law,
but differ greatly from the legal positions of their neighbors. Due to such variation it is impossible to
claim that Latin America as a whole aligns with one attitude concerning family planning and abortion.
Additionally, both systems are simultaneously present in countries creating a complex and intriguing
system of reproductive health. Due to this variety, this paper focuses on Chile and Cuba as examples
of two opposing extremes. In Cuba abortion is legal under all circumstances as compared to Chile,
where abortion was historically criminalized. These two country s situations ask the question of how
family planning programs and abortion rates connect with and influence one

Analysis Of Samsung Supply Chain Management
Samsung Electronics Supply Chain Management:
Analysis of Fulfilment Order Process
1. Introduction
Supply Chain Management (SCM) has been defined by Supply Chain Management Institute to be the
management of relationships in the network of organizations, from end customers through original
suppliers, using key cross functional business processes to create value for customers and other
stakeholders (SCM Institute, 2016).
Samsung s supply chain management has several operational core processes and each process has its
own complex design. Therefore, this paper will focus on one main process, the filfullment order
process. This paper describes Samsung Electronics SCM operation practices, analysis its fulfillment
order process, the challenges encountered, and how they were resolved. The paper also presents the
flow chart of the fulfillment process to highlight its operational activities. ... Show more content on

concept of SCM need the integration of key business processes through which information sharing
and group planning are provided within and across the supply chain network of suppliers, retailers,
manufacturers, and consumers (Bowersox el al., 2010).The Global Supply Chain Forum, a supply

The Success of the New Deal in Solving the Problems Caused by the Great Depression
Introduction In the late 1920 s and early 1930 s the whole of America was in a deep depression and
was in desperate need of help. When Franklin D Roosevelt was elected president of USA he came up
with the plan of the new deal this was a planned guideline to regenerate money and the high standards
of living the Americans once had not so long ago. He introduced 5 major organisations to restructure
the American way of life they were now facing; these were the F.E.R.A, C.C.C, A.A.A, T.V.A and the
N.R.A. In this essay I am going to study if the new deal was successful up to 1941.

He asked Congress to create a corporation clothed with the power of government but possessed of the
flexibility and initiative of a private enterprise. On May 18, 1933, Congress passed the TVA act. Right
from the start, TVA established a unique problem solving approach to fulfilling its mission integrated
resource management. Each issue TVA faced whether it was power production, navigation, flood
control, malaria prevention, reforestation, or erosion control was studied in its broadest context.
The N.R.A was an act called for industrial self regulation and declared that codes of fair competition
for the protection of consumers, competitors, and employers were to be drafted for the various
industries of the country and were to be subject to public hearings. The administration was
empowered to make voluntary agreements dealing with hours of work, rates of pay, and the fixing of
prices.
The AAA paid farmers not to grow crops and not to produce dairy produce such as milk and butter. It
also paid them not to raise pigs and lambs. The money to pay the farmers for cutting back production
of about 30% was raised by a tax on companies that bought the farm products and processed them into
food and clothing. The AAA also became involved in trying to help farmers destroyed by the creation
of the dust bowl in 1934.

The Formula And Percent Water Of Hydrated Magnesium Sulfate
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to determine both the formula and percent water of hydrated
magnesium sulfate.
Background: According to George B. Kauffman of Britannica, a hydrate is any compound containing
water in the form of H2O molecules, usually, but not always, with a definite content of water by
weight. Within this, there are two aspects of the compound; the water of hydration and the anhydrous
salt. When a hydrate is heated, the water of hydration leaves the compound as vapor due to the
unsteady bonds between the water and salt molecules. The anhydrous salt ends up becoming the only
piece that is leftover. From the two, the percent water in a hydrate and the mass of the salt can be
determined from the loss of the water of hydration. As a result, the formula of the compound can be
found because the masses of the salt and the water can be used to determine the mole ratio, which are
both small, whole numbers.
Materials:
Gas burner
Ring stand and ring
Triangle made from clay
Crucible + lid
Crucible tongs
Wire pad
Balance scale
Spatula
Hydrated magnesium sulfate
Procedure:
Assemble the ring and ring stand atop a flat surface. Place the clay triangle in the center of the ring.
Lastly, bring the crucible with its lid into the clay triangle, so that it is hanging.
Turn on the gas burner and bring it a low heat, only to the point that there is a blue flame. Carefully
push the gas burner under the crucible and heat for around two minutes in order to properly

African Indentured Servants During Jamestown
The first twenty Africans to arrive in Jamestown, Virginia in 1619 were eventually traded by the
Dutch for food and supplies. A point worth noting, the first twenty Africans were not identified as
legal property(slave). The former Spanish owners had baptized and given each a Christian name. In
fact, Africans worked as indentured servants for a specified time because English law disallowed the
enslaving of Christians. Africans became landowners and were of equal standing with the poor
English Pilgrims. However, by 1640, Virginia court documents started displaying verdicts for a life of
servitude. These were verdicts given to runaway indentured servants. African indentured servants to
be exact. Between 1661 and 1662, a child s status in the colonial United States depended on whether
the mother was free or a slave.
Laws were passed that degraded blacks and forbid interracial marriage and sexual relations. Other
laws prohibited blacks from bearing arms, traveling without written permission and finally, preventing
blacks from owning property. In 1669, it was declared in Virginia that it would not be a crime to kill a
disobedient slave while punishing him/her. Moreover in 1669, slave masters were banned from
emancipating slaves. Slaves that were given their freedom could not stay in the colony. Furthermore,
Virginia voted to banish Europeans who marry a black, mulatto, or Indian person. It can be concluded
that these laws fashioned the chattel slavery in the United States

Dr. Prentice has to catch the 10 p.m. flight to Geneva, so he has to decide before then. The artificial
deadline provides automatic suspense and keeps the action within a short span of time. Another scene
which speaks a lot about Dr. Prentice s state of mind is when he talks to his parents on the phone both
at the airport and in the study of Mr. Drayton. He s clearly uncomfortable while he is telling his
parents about the lady in his life. The facial expressions, nervousness and sweat on his forehead all
suggest that he is uncomfortable. In fact he s not comfortable about telling them that she s not African
American on the phone and prefers a less confrontational way of doing so by writing to them about it.
After news has been broken to both Mr. and Mrs. Drayton, their first conversation about the recent
development is in Mr. Drayton s study. First thing to observe is that when they are with each other
they are much more relaxed and completely comfortable with each other. They are not shy of
expressing their feelings to each other and in fact for the first time Mrs. Drayton expresses her
approval or atleast a no objection to the marriage. She is proud of her daughter s choice and the fact
that the values that they have taught her have not gone amiss in their daughter. It s during this
conversation that Dr. prentice enters the study and tells Joanne s parents about the importance of their
approval for the marriage. This scene shows Dr. Prentice at

The Importance Of Columbus Day
Several schools within the state of Michigan celebrate Columbus Day, a holiday honoring the man that
discovered the New World. However, Byron Center Public Schools does not. The question that has
been asked is whether we should start to celebrate the holiday, or continue not to. The answer is that
Byron Center should continue to not celebrate the holiday. Columbus day should not be celebrated
because of the negative effect his reign had on the Natives, he was not the first person to discover the
New World, and the damaging effect he had on biodiversity.
The main reason Columbus Day should not be celebrated is because of the negative effect Columbus
had on the Native people. Many sources of evidence have found that Columbus mistreated the Native
Americans. For instance, the Spanish wanted to convert the natives to the Catholic church; however,
the natives did not convert, so the Spanish resorted to violence to get what they wanted. After the
natives were conquered, the survivors were enslaved in the Encomiendas system. Encomiendas was
like slavery; the natives had to work without pay, and were not allowed to leave the land without
permission. Columbus and his men also raped, murdered, and committed genocide against the people.
Additionally, Columbus would force them to give him more gold than they even had, and ravaged
their land when they did not give it to him. He abused the natives in many ways, which is why
Columbus Day should not be celebrated.

Assessment and Analysis of Balanced Scorecards
Assessment and Analysis of Balanced Scorecards
Introduction
The greater the competitive intensity of a given industry the more essential the four foundational
elements of balanced scorecards become in translating expertise and knowledge into profitable
performance. The BSC framework unifies and galvanizes the vision, mission and values of an
enterprise into a framework that encompasses learning and growth, internal business processes,
customer driven innovation and financial factors of the business (Kaplan, Norton, 2001). Case
analyses of the Tri Cities Community Bank: A Balanced Scorecard Case (Albright, Davis, Hibbets,
2001) and Walmart Corporation illustrate how causal chain analysis is an essential component of a
complete BSC strategy. The value of causal chain analysis is particularly valid for Walmart
Corporation, whose business model is predicated on the continual operation of a smoothly functioning
supply chain that needs to continually translate learning into process improvement for improving the
customer experience and profits (Park, Min, Park, 2011). Walmart illustrates how difficult it is to
simultaneously balance the four perspectives in the balanced scorecard. Part One of this analysis
illustrates through previous case analyses and research completed in this course. Part Two of this
analysis defines and discusses two concepts that are essential to be successful in business
administration. Part Three is s reflective essay on experiences taking this course in

relationships evolve throughout Pride and Prejudice, including the most well known between
Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. The relationship progresses through the novel from the dismissal of

love with each other. Mr. Darcy progressively gained feelings for her despite of her hatred of him,
while Elizabeth began to uncover the real personality and good heartedness of Mr. Darcy. The

implacability of his resentments, of his having an unforgiving temper. His disposition must be
dreadful (101). After hearing Mr. Wickham s lies, Elizabeth said I had not thought Mr. Darcy so bad as
this though I have never liked him. I had not thought so very ill of him (100). Awhile later, Elizabeth
along with her aunt and uncle, mr. and Mrs. Gardiner, decided to tour the home of Mr. Darcy,
Pemberley. Her vision of Mr. Darcy soon changes after this visit. Through the discussion between Mr.
Darcy s housekeeper, Mrs. Reynolds, Elizabeth learns of Mr. Wickham s true nature. She explains He
has turned out very wild (303). Mrs. Reynolds goes on and compliments Mr. Darcy s looks, kind
heartedness, and generosity. Elizabeth had not seen this side of Mr. Darcy until he surprised them at
Pemberley. Elizabeth thought to herself about his behaviour, so strikingly altered what could it mean?
That he should even speak to her was amazing! but to speak with such civility, to inquire after her
family! Never in her life had she seen his manners so little dignified, never had he spoken with such
gentleness as on this unexpected meeting (310). During this meeting Elizabeth begins to regret

The Distinguished Works of the Preeminent Black Author, Ralph Ellison
Ralph Ellison is one of the most lauded yet misunderstood writers of the twentieth century. Ellison is
considered a short story writer and an essayist at heart, but his most distinguished work is the novel,
Invisible Man. Ellison has been called everything from the greatest black American author (Brennan)
to unnecessarily excessive in his writing style ( Ralph Ellison: 1914 1994 ). For the most part, Ellison
is held in high regard in the literary community. The critical consensus on Ralph Ellison is that he is
one of the most influential and passionate authors of his generation.

In 1986, Going To The Territory, another compilation of essays, was published (Kennedy and Gioia).
On April 16, 1994, Ralph Waldo Ellison died from cancer in his home in New York City. Subsequent
collections of Ellison s work were published posthumously including The Collected Essays of Ralph
Ellison in 1995 and Flying Home and Other Stories in 1996. Ellison s final novel, Juneteenth, which
was near completion at the time of his death, was published in 1999 (Kennedy and Gioia). Even after
his death, Ellison s work lives on as a testament to his talent. His stories still hold significance today
and his works are still receiving honors even after his death.
Most scholars accept Invisible Man as Ellison s preeminent work. In 1965, a group of literary scholars
polled by The New York Herald Tribune voted Invisible Man as the most distinguished novel written
by an American during the previous 20 years (Mitgang). Invisible Man is the story of the struggles of
a black man in an oppressive, white society. Although this story is technically fiction, many of the
events mirror the life of Ellison. The main character in Invisible Man is at first naĂŻve about the
prejudices of white society and acts accordingly. As the story progresses, through experience he
becomes aware of society s injustices and his attitude becomes cautious. It is these experiences in
which the naĂŻve hero learns, to his

Araby By James Joyce Point Of View
There was no doubt about it: if you wanted to succeed you had to go away. You could do nothing in
Dublin. Little Chandler proclaimed this in the short story A Little Cloud and was a common theme
within Joyce s short stories. He used his short stories as a medium to reach the hearts and minds of the
people in Dublin, the place he called home. Although it was his home he didn t have the fondest
memories of it which are clearly present in his writing. James Joyce was, in my opinion, a
revolutionary who used his short stories as a means of changing the way of thinking for the homeland
he resented. Joyce s characters embark on a cyclical journey that can often puzzle the reader. The

Joyce made a profound statement by describing her as a helpless animal because of her inability to act
and chase her desire. As the boat pulled away the reader could feel Eveline s life perish and her
beginning the automation of a dull and unfulfilling life in Dublin. Another frustrating cycle of hope
and eventually anguish is present in Araby by Joyce. You follow the journey of the narrator who wants
to buy a gift for a girl he is enchanted with from the splendid bazaar . This seems like a simple task
but Joyce uses this a chance to emphasize the mentality and hopelessness of the people of Dublin. As
the day arrives for him to go to the bazaar the doubt already sets into his mind. His normal morning
routine was to watch out the window as the girl would emerge from her door, but on this day his uncle
was in the way and he wasn t able to do it. The inability to lie at the window had a depressing effect
on him while walking to school he described the air as pitilessly raw and was clearly discouraged
saying already my heart misgave me . He finally reaches the bazaar later after his uncle comes home
late, and also drunk, and what he encounters has a devastating effect on him. The bazaar is closing
when he arrives and a worker at one of the stalls barely acknowledges him when he approaches. He
becomes extremely disappointed and then disappointment gives way to eventual anger. It is at this

Malthus Thomas Robert Malthus was a well known economist as well as a clergyman. He was born on

Cambridge in 1784 and graduated four years later with honors in mathematics. In 1789, Malthus

Future Improvement of Society, with Remarks on the Speculations of Mr. Godwin, M. Condorcet, and

Malthus was an economic pessimist to those who disagreed with him and a realist to his followers. He
viewed poverty as something that was inevitable because, If the only check to population is misery,
the result of any improvement is ultimately to enable a larger population than before to live in misery,
so that resource improvement actually increases the sum of misery and that betterment of the lot of
mankind is impossible without stern limits on reproduction. This means that there is overpopulation,
and the natural check of misery (poverty) is coming into effect in order to balance out overpopulation.
However, by trying to help poverty, we are (according to Malthus) making the situation worse. In the
short run, there seems to be an improvement because those poor people are better off and can do well.
This situation would lead to a larger population than before, and therefore would lead to a greater
number of people becoming impoverished. He therefore shunned charities and proposed that by
leaving poverty alone, and by moral restraint and vice (contraception and population control); the
situation would take care of itself. If the only check to population is misery, the population will grow
until it is miserable enough to check its growth.
In the last two hundred years, Malthus Essay has sparked controversy and made people aware of
population growth. In every generation, there have been Malthusians who caused panic among people.

The crystallite size of the diamond coatings get larger simply with the deposition time due to the
columnar growth mechanism and NCD coatings of high thickness display the surface characteristics
of microcrystalline diamond, which are damaging to most of the applications. Sun et al. proposed
composite diamond coatings by the deposition of rough polycrystalline diamond and smooth fine

there are some small changes. The plot is about four twelve year olds who embark into a journey to

In the novel the setting of the story takes place in a small town named Castle Rock that is located in
Maine in the year 1960 and in the film the setting is Castle Rock, Oregon in 1959. This difference
would be considered a minor change because it is only one year apart from the original date in the
novel and the change of the state does not really matter. Adding to differences is that in the novel in
chapter seven there is a story that is told by Gordie called Stud City in the film it is not shown or
mentioned. This would be considered a major change because the story shows how smart and mature
Gordie is for a twelve year old and it is important for the build up of the character but it is excluded
from the film. Another difference is that in the novel when the boys find the body and they confront
the other boys Chris pulls the gun out to make them leave. In the film it is Gordie who takes out the
gun to make them leave. This is a major change because in the novel it helped make the ending make
more sense and helped Chris buildup as a character. In addition to differences in the novel when the
boys are on there journey they go into the pond to swim because they want to. In the film they go into
the pond because they have to in order to get across. This isn t considered a major change because it
doesn t affect the plot in any way. Something the filmmakers did well

The Basic Buddhist Teachings
Explain the basic Buddhist teachings including the Three Marks of Reality, the Four Noble Truths, and
the Noble Eightfold Path. The Three Marks of Reality denote the nature of human existence: the
reality of suffering (which does not mean the presence of sorrow, but rather the existence of a
constantly changing world where neither extreme happiness nor misery is stable); the impermanent
nature of all things, including human existence; and finally egolessness or the notion that there is no
stable, human self (O Brien, 2012, Three Marks). The Three Marks of Reality relate directly to the
Four Noble Truths, the first tenant of which is that there is suffering in the world, and the second of
which is that there is a cause of suffering: suffering caused by the false conception that there is a
stable human ego. The third noble truth is that there is an end to suffering, and the fourth is that the
end to suffering can be achieved by following the Eightfold Path (O Brien, 2012, Four Noble Truths).
The Eightfold Path is divided into three basic sections: that of wisdom, ethical conduct, and mental
discipline. Right view and right intention means understanding what the Buddha taught and striving to
follow the path for the right reasons. Right speech, action, and livelihood mean acting in a beneficial
manner towards others. Right effort, mindfulness and concentration require the practitioner to
discipline him or herself with meditation (O Brien, 2012, Eightfold Path). Amongst all

Ultrasonography Research Paper
Ultrasonography is an important type of diagnostic testing method that is used all around the world
today in mostly hospitals and gynaecology clinics. The Wikimedia Foundation states, It is used to see

Ultrasonography requires the use of some physics. Physics of Ultrasonography connects with how the
functioning of the ultrasound machine works. When performing an ultrasound, low intensity, high
frequency sonic waves are directed into the soft tissues of the body (Blevins et al. 1). Many sonic
waves will directed right into the soft tissue to produce an image on the computer screen. William E.
Blevins says, The sonic waves called echoes, reflecting from tissues are heard by the transducer
(Blevins et al. 1). This means the sounds of the tissue reflects back to the transducer and then back to
the computer for evaluation. Then, After interacting with the soft tissues, a portion of the sound is
reflected back toward the source of the sound (Blevins et al. 1). Basically the ultrasound evaluates the
sound waves coming from inside of the body of the soft tissue. The sound waves travel back to the
computer to produce an image on the screen. Finally, These reflections or echoes are analyzed by a
computer and a black and white image is produced (Blevins et al. 1). When the black and white image
appears back on the screen, the Ultrasound Technician will analyze the image on the computer

The Gap Between Science And Science Fiction
Science fiction is full of machines that have feelings. In 2001: A Space Odyssey, the onboard
computer turns against the crew of the spaceship Discovery 1, and utters cries of pain and fear when
his circuits are finally taken apart. In Blade Runner, a humanoid robot is distressed to learn that her
memories are not real, but have been implanted in her silicon brain by her programmer. In
Bicentennial Man, Robin Williams plays the part of a robot who redesigns his own circuitry so that he
can experience the full range of human feelings. These stories achieve their effect in part because the
capacity for emotion is often considered to be one of the main differences between humans and
machines. This is certainly true of the machines we know today. The responses we receive from
computers are rather dry affairs, such as System error 1378 . People sometimes get angry with their
computers and shout at them as if they had emotions, but the computers take no notice. They neither
feel their own feelings, nor recognize yours. The gap between science fiction and science fact appears
vast, but some researchers in artificial intelligence now believe it is only a question of time before it is
bridged.
The new field of affective computing has already made some progress in building primitive emotional
machines, and every month brings new advances. However, some critics argue that a machine could
never come to have real emotions like ours. At best, they claim, clever programming might allow

then categorize the technological use as either Type 1 or Type 2. The results showed that technology
use in the schools was significantly skewed to the use of Type 1 technology. Lecklider states that,
Type 1 use of technology was observed as a daily occurrence by 89% of participants...only 22% of
participants observed students using one or more Type 2 technologies on a daily basis during school
(Lecklider, 2009). In an age where the Type 2 technologies are in the hands of our students outside of
school, it is puzzling to see that those technologies are not being used inside of the school. Many of
the Type 2 technologies are present in the schools in Saskatchewan and Canada, but it is unlikely that
if the study were conducted here that the results would be significantly different. The technology is
present, but there seem to be barriers in place that are preventing a transition from the educational
practices of the past century to the ones of the current century.
One way to ensure that this transition can happen is to consider technological integration as a
component of all the work we do in schools, including technology use that supports increased student
learning. The goal of embedding high levels of technology into instructional practice can be met if all
of the educational stakeholders

How Did Nero Influence Rome
Emperor Nero was the most detrimental emperor to Rome. He burned Rome so he could build Rome
as he imagined it, he blamed the fire on the Christians, and he persecuted the Christians. Those are the
acts that have been proven to be done by him that have affected Rome the most. He has also done
some despicable things to become and stay emperor. Emperor Nero ruled Rome from 54 AD to 68
AD. He was originally named Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, but his name was changed to Nero in 49
AD when Lucius s mother Agrippina married Emperor Claudius. Historians have read that Nero s fate
was inevitable. His real father, Gnaeus Domitius, who died when Nero was three, was extremely
violent. It is written that Gnaeus once deliberately ran over a young boy with his chariot as he drove
through a local village. When his friends congratulated him upon hearing of the birth of his son, Nero
s father said that anything born to Agrippina and him would be unlikeable and a disaster. Because of
these traits in Nero s father, the people knew that hardly any good could come out of it. The people of
Rome were right.
One of the most despicable manifestations of human flesh ever to disgrace this planet was Nero
Claudius Caesar. Born in A.D. 37, Nero was educated at the feet of the philosopher Seneca (whom he
eventually forced to commit suicide). Nero murdered his way to the imperial throne, which he
occupied from A.D. 54 68. His life was characterized by debauchery, violence (he caused his own

An Argument Against Auteur Theory.
Auteurism: A Disease of Greatness.
The term Auteur seems to bless a privileged group of filmmakers with an almost messiah like legacy.
Men such as Alfred Hitchcock, John Ford and Fritz Lange are believed to inhabit the ranks of the
cinematic elite, and not surprisingly most critics are more than willing to bestow upon them the title of
Auteur. By regarding filmmaking as yet another form of art, Auteur theory stipulates that a film is the
direct result of its director s genius. With the emerging prominence of auteur based criticism in the
1950?s, the role of the director became increasingly integral to a film s success. However most would
argue that this form of criticism didn t reach its apex until 1960s, when Andrew Sarris released his ...

He merely didn t adhere to a set of criteria which could safely classify his work as art . When asked
why he was not respected by American critics, as he is in Europe, Corman responded,
Ordinarly there is a great deal of snobbery from American film critics, they will accept a film by
Stanley Kramer as a work of art before they see it, or a film from a European director...but they
unloose their ire against low or medium budget Hollywood productions 3
Considered one of the greatest of all American directors, John Ford would no doubt be regarded an
auteur by those who choose to utilize the phrase. One can imagine Ford carefully weaving beautiful
images of monument valley, to fulfill his artistic allegories, or demanding the most effective of
performances from a cast who manage to convey the emotions which stir inside this most American of
auteurs. Just as Corman seems to put a great deal of philosophical thought into crafting what many
consider to be simple films, Ford seems to suggest that his cinematic choices are often over analyzed.
In an interview with fellow western film director Burt Kennedy, Ford was asked about some of these
choices, which have come to define much of his style, and his answers are surprisingly simplistic.
When questioned about his connection to Monument Valley, and the reasoning behind choosing that
location, Ford responded I knew

British Airways ( Ba ) Debacle Occurred
The British Airways (BA) Debacle occurred because the management team planned and implemented
a swipe card system which would allow management to use staff more efficiently and to record
employees start and end time for each work day. However, the staff was not involved in the decision
which led to a strike (Palmer, Dunford, Akin, 2009). Wildcat strike key issues
Organizational Development The purpose of the change process was to provide the efficient use of
staff and resources. British Airways Senior management s approach to change was planning and
having the operational level implement policies that affected the employees without employee input.
Using the organizational development approach a key issue was employee involvement, the more
involved in the change process members of the organization are the more likely they will be to
accepting the change. The lack of employee involvement caused the employees to rebel and strike.
Sense making
Sense making approach shows how change is interpreted and received by those involved in the
change. British Airways Senior management and employees interpreted and received the change
differently. Using the sense making approach the key issue was opposing interpretation and reception.
Management viewed the change as a positive way of improving efficiency and were not aware of any
other interpretations of the change. The change was interpreted as negative by the staff, because the

Sleep Stages
There are many different stages of sleep such as N1, N2, N3, and REM sleep. N1, N2, N3 are known
as Non REM sleep. There are two kinds of sleep which are REM AND NREM, or Non REM sleep.
Sleep is recorded using a polysomnography and brain wave activity is measured using an
electrocephalograph. It is said that you will spend 32 years of your life sleeping. In the first stage of
sleep known as N1 or transitional sleep, you will be in a light sleep. If you wake up during the N1
stage you will not believe that you have fallen asleep. This stage you can also have visual events
called hypnogogic images or hallucinations. They say that this may explain why people think that they
have seen a ghost. During this stage you may also experience hypnic jerk. Hypnic jerk is the
relaxation of muscles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this stage your body temperature will drop, your heart rate will slow down, and breathing will
become more shallow and irregular. When brain waves are measured during N2 stage of sleep they
will still be mostly theta waves but you will also see some sleep spindles. The third stage of sleep is
known as N3. This is the stage where the deepest sleep occurs. When awaken during this stage you
will be very confused and disoriented. In this stage growth hormones are excreted from the pituitary
gland. This is why they say children sleep harder than adults because they are growing. When brain
waves are measured in this stage they are delta waves. In the final stage of sleep called R or REM
sleep but also known as Rapid Eye Movement sleep, you will have to progress back through stage N2
to get to REM. In this stage the body temperature rises to a near waking level, eyes begin to move
rapidly, and the heart rate becomes faster. More than half of dreams occur in REM sleep. Dreams in
this stage will seem more vivid and life like. You can also experience sleep paralysis. This stage

Research Paper On The Chicago Fire Of 1871
The Chicago Fire of 1871, otherwise know as the Great Chicago Fire, began on October 8th and lasted
through the 10th. The fire left the windy city in ruins and left nearly 100,000 people homeless. The
fire burned four miles long of the city and nearly a mile wide, which cause almost 300 people to die
and 200 million dollars of property damage. The Great Chicago Fire was a historical event that won t
soon be forgotten, and caused this sturdy city to grow to greatness.
The fire was supposedly caused by Catherine O Leary s cow who kicked over a lantern, however this
is just legend and can t be proven as the actual start of the fire. The fire burned out of control due to
the windy quality of the city and possibly even the dry weather. Another contributing factor is that the
fire department was sent to the wrong location, which caused them to arrived at the fire later then they
should have. The Fire began on the night of October 8th and was finally put out on the 10th. The fire
was extinguished by the firefighters, but was also put out due the rain that fell that day. As you can see
the fire was very uncontrollable, lasted for a long period of time, and would cause severe damage to

Essay on Northwest Coast Tribal Art
Northwest Coast Tribal Masks This paper describes the Sea Bear Transformation Mask, created by
Don Svanvik in 2000, and how it reflects Northwest Coast Indian art and culture, specific to the
Kwakiutl tribe. A transformation mask is a large mask with hinged shutters that, when open, reveal
another mask. Audrey and Alan Bleviss gave this mask to the Montclair Art Museum in 2005. The
medium consists of red cedar, cedar bark, copper, pigment, and string. In the Montclair Art Museum,
the mask is displayed in its open form. The inside of the mask shows a man sitting with his legs bent
in front of him while his arms are open and stretched to his sides. His facial features consist of sharp
cheekbones, a wide triangular nose, a goat t, a thin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much of the inside of the mask is the color of red cedar. The ovals that make up the shoulder joints are
filled in with red pigment. The formline that outlines the entire body is black and varies in thickness.
The formline is thick under the feet and around the palms of the hands. The formline around the chest
and knees is a bit thicker and is red. (www.freespiritgallery.ca) The artist made the arms and legs
transparent so the viewer is able to see the subject s skeleton. In the middle of each arm are two
spikes, one on top and one on the bottom, which represents the man s elbows. The bones of the arms
and legs are tinted a slightly darker color looking almost gray. Long strips of cedar bark that are
attached to the outside of the mask can be seen under the arms when the mask is open. While still
open, cedar bark bound together is seen on top of where the arms are placed, on both sides of the
figure s head. The three strings coming from the figure s mouth allow the mask to close, allowing it to
transform and take the shape of a different figure. The transformation mask in its closed position takes
on an entirely new character. This mask is supposed to depict a sea bear; however, its features closely
resemble that of a dragon. The subject s teeth are large and look fierce. It has two large round nostrils
and huge eyes. The cedar bark makes the subject look like it has a lion s mane. With its mouth open,

Medical Marijuana Legalization
Global Impact of the Legalization of Medical Marijuana
Medical marijuana has become an extreme controversy for many different countries around the world.
According to the National Conference of State Legislation, twenty nine states in the United States
have legalized medical marijuana, (State) along with select countries around the world. Different
regions of the world have varying views and laws for medical cannabis. Medical marijuana can
drastically improve the quality of ill people s lives, and ease pain that otherwise make daily life
miserable. According to two well known professors at University of Salerno, cannabis has been used
to relieve chronic pain, muscular cramps and neurological or spinal pains (Bifulco and Pisanti).
Although medical marijuana s purpose would be to alleviate pain, some are concerned that it could be
a gateway drug, which means it could potentially lead people to become addicted to stronger
substances.
California was the first state in the United States to pass laws making medical marijuana legal. As of
2017, thirty three American states or territories have passed similar laws regarding cannabis, leaving
twenty three states with the illegalization of medical marijuana (State). Other countries within North
America have also made medical marijuana legal, including Canada. According to Canada s
government website, medical marijuana has been legal since 2001 (Marihuana). Rob Nikolewski, a

Compare And Contrast Hrothgar And Beowulf
The epic poem Beowulf translated by Seamus Heaney, presents two heroic kings that have very clear
differences on how they overcome challenges but they still keep their people in safe keepings.
Hrothgar and Beowulf are admired by their people because they both show strong characteristics of
what an Anglo Saxon king should do or be.
The king of Danes, Hrothgar, was first introduced as an accomplished and wise king. He comes to be
well known as a young king when he protected Beowulf s now departed father, Ecgtheow. Hrothgar
wergild peace with Ecgtheow s enemies so that the bloody feud would end. With Hrothgar doing this
generous deed to help Ecgtheow and his kingdom out Beowulf devotes his assistance in the beginning
of the poem. One thing that makes Hrothgar a good king is that he always seems to stay true to his
word, as is told at the beginning, the king kept well his pledge and promise to deal out gifts, rings at
the banquet (53 55). It was clear that Hrothgar was an exceptional military leader with his bravery and
strength but he is aged now and cannot fight the same as he used to. The Danes are then faced with an
evil and wicked monster, Grendel, who terrorizes his realm. Beowulf asks Hrothgar if he could fight
this battle for him to pay back his family debt and Hrothgar agreed. Hrothgar makes a promise to
reward Beowulf if he succeeds in killing the monster Grendel. He says, For his gallant courage I ll

What are the Trade Barriers into entering an Asian Market?
Trade barriers are the ways that governments or public are familiarizing to make imported goods or
services less economical than locally produced goods and services. For an American company to make
an exchange and enter the Asian sector, they need to identify which country they would like to
establish their business and to identify the trade barriers for that exact country. There are several
barriers such as government imposed barriers are the ones that are connected to import regulations,
import quotas, tariffs and product specifications. Invincible trade barriers were linked to cultural and
social conditions or on the government s policy. The visible trade barriers were linked to the concern
of tariff and non tariff barriers. Tariff barriers were related to high and low tariff rates of certain goods
but non tariff barriers were related to quotas, norms and consumer protection measures.
U.S firms need to understand certain types of the Asian market such as employment relationships and
the different kinds of cultures. The host country factors included the government s restrictions on

How Important Was “Regulatory Capture” in Causing the...
The purpose of this paper is to show that the regulatory capture has played a role not easily
measurable in causing the global financial crisis. To illustrate this, the first step will to describe the
regulatory capture in its three possible qualifications; then, I will explain, providing some examples,
how each of these categories played a possible role in posing the basis for the financial crisis. While
illustrating the different forms of capture I will present some questions that leave space to different
answers. Finally, I will conclude that the regulatory capture have surely played a role in generating the
crisis, but it is not possible to evaluate the effective role it had in causing it.

For instance, the increased importance of networks and the rise of highly systemic banks created a
system in which the banks became, on one side, too big to fail, and, on the other, too big to save.
Indeed, the lesson from Lehman Brothers Chapter 11 is that letting go bankrupt a systemic player
(even not one of the largest) might bring about unknown undesirable effects. The policy makers are,
therefore, definitely captured because banking sector is architecture in such a way that constrains the
policy makers to go through a bail out in case of a relevant financial distress. So which are the
consequences of this behaviour? The outcomes are double: the ex ante banks possibility to engage
moral hazard behaviour and the ex post debt burden on the tax payers. This creates an incentive for the
banks to take more risks due to the implicit protection of the government, that rely on the tax payers to
pay for the bailouts, creating a substantial problem of fairness and social equity, in which low income
class has to pay for the top income class errors. Another example of this theory is the state dependence
on taxes generated by the financial sector. For instance, in the UK the financial sector s gross value
added (GVA) rose over the last decade, but has declined since 2009. Its contribution to UK jobs is
around 3.6%. Trade in financial services makes up a substantial proportion of the UK s trade surplus
in services. Estimates of the sector s contribution to Government tax

Analysis Of A Streetcar Named Desire
Practice Essay: Emilia Kelly
The two texts of Enduring Love and A Streetcar named Desire show privilege of one way of
perceiving the world over the other in their conclusions. Ian McEwan s Enduring Love, shows favour
of Joe s scientific and rational view but also demonstrates that it is flawed. Similarly, Tennessee
Williams shows that realism in inevitable but is not always desirable in the play A Streetcar Names
Desire. Both texts explore explore the responses of their protagonists of a crisis with Ian McEwan s
post modern novel Enduring Love showing the destruction of Joe Rose s world following a hot air
ballooning tragedy through his scientific perspective. While the southern gothic play of A Streetcar
Named Desire explores the perception of Blanche following life s tragedies of the death of her
husband. There are many similarities and differences within the text with Enduring Love s Joe and A
Streetcar Named Desire s Stanley both representing the favoured perception of logic and reality, while
characters such as Blanche and Jed expressing the less favourable perception of fantasy and delusion.
Other characters of Clarissa and Stella, have their perception shaped by their emotional relationships
that still result in unfavourable outcomes.
In McEwan s conclusion of Enduring Love, Joe s perception of logic and science is presented to the
reader as the privilege view in the novel. This scientific perception was shown throughout the novel

Evil and Good
In Horrendous Evils and the Goodness of God , Marilyn McCord Adams uses another kind of defense
for theism. In this reading Adams argues that the problem of evil has been directed at theism in
general, which in this case has caused readers on either side of the debate to miss how important and
how unique Christianity is to the problem of horrendous evils on this view. She argues that
Christianity has a variety of unique tools that can meet the problem of evil more effectively when not
abstracted into simply classical theism.
Adams account has the kind of honest, penetrating discussion of real evil in our world about which
philosophy would do well to take notice. The little child kidnapped and murdered; the innocent family

Rather than jettisoning these types of answers, then, I think we would be best suited adding Adams
defense to the many faceted response to the problem of evil from Christian philosophers of religion.
My first objection is that she looks at the problem of evil as residing fundamentally in the finitude of
creatures. She says that the main hurdle to atonement lies not in what we as people do but what and
who we are. In the face of the holy, to use Otto s key term, `we have no more rightful place in God s
household than worms and maggots do in ours nothing we could naturally be or do would make us
suitable for divine company. There s just a `size gap between us and God We are also `metaphysical
stragglers , who in various ways break down normal categories, and therefore in Douglas s terms are
prime candidates to be unclean. Like fish without scales or anteaters that climb trees, we by our very
natures challenge the orderliness of the cosmos, and are thus metaphysically unclean. It is thus our
nature as the kind of creatures we are that leads Isaiah to declare paradigmatically in the face of God s
holiness that he is a man of unclean lips who dwells among a people of unclean lips. Certainly some
strands of Christian theology, particularly in the East, have taken this view, but I think they represent a
minority. The majority opinion has been that human nature (finite and however odd though it may be)
is one thing, and sin is quite another. Like the rest of

A Meta Analysis Of Schizophrenia Used By Heinrichs And...
Within the 47 studies, were wide ranges of neuropsychological tests including 156 cognitive test
variables. This meta analysis categorized the tests into ten broad, separable cognitive domains
allowing for a general outline. These tests were categorized based on a similar outline for a meta
analysis of schizophrenia used by Heinrichs and Zakzanis in 1998. These ten cognitive domains
support quantitative and interpretive comparisons and include: immediate verbal memory, attention
(divided into three subdomains of processing speed, working memory, and vigilance), nonverbal
memory, general cognitive ability, language functions, visuospatial abilities, delayed verbal memory
and learning strategies, executive functioning, social cognition, and motor skills. Studies show
medium to large deficits for first episode schizophrenia samples compared to the control samples.
Testing indicated first episode samples preform worse and show impairments in each domain category
compared to control samples based on negative ES values. In addition, analyses showed significant
heterogeneity amongst all ten domains (Mesholam Gately et al., 2009).
It is evident that there are significant impairments among first episode samples in the three groups of
memory, specifically in both serial list learning and story memory immediate recall where SMDs were
1.20. A smaller ES (SMD of 0.85) was found in delayed verbal memory and learning strategies;
similarly, the nonverbal memory domain SMD was 0.91. All

Buffy and Angel The relationship between Buffy and Angel is ecstatic. The relationship itself has
power, lust, and is fully intriguing. The relationship between Buffy and Angel was doomed from the
start because, Buffy is a vampire slayer and Angel is a vampire. Clearly the two do not go well, I mean
seriously, what kind of combo is Buffy and Angel really? Could they be a couple like Romeo and
Juliet and play a tragic role in language arts, or will they end up like Peter Pan and Wendy, two people
from two total different worlds that try to come together and satay young together. I personally believe
that they have the Peter pan and Wendy relationship because they re both from two different types of
world s themselves. Being a vampire slayer, Buffy isn t really supposed to be with a vampire at all, but
instead she falls for the dashing, yet old vampire, Angel. Upon meeting him, Buffy falls for him. Lust
or Love, nobody has ever been positively clear on weather not Buffy was in love with Angel, or if she
was lusting over the gruesome Angel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to Buffy, Angel grew kinder and more equipped to the world he was in. Soon he was finding
that the everyday life he lived was to find Buffy so that his world could be a little brighter. Basically
He thinks the world of Buffy, as if she is everything he has ever wanted and then tragedy strikes.
Angel is going through a phase of good versus evil. Will Angel succumb to the darkness or will he
overcome the need to be his old self again? Turns out, Angelus, Angel demonic side, takes over him,
and he struggles to stay sane and on top of the world as he knows it. Soon Angelus has complete
control over Angels body and Buffy has to come a complete decision on what to

Benefits Of Critical Race Theory
Furthermore, the critical race theory approach draws attention to African Americans seeking to break
historical norms to create a new respect for their race. For example, Natchez, who claims himself to be
James Fulton s nephew confines in Lila Mae about his desire to obtain his uncle s black box, which
will not only benefit his family but the African American race as a whole. Natchez said, They always
take away from our people. I don t know if they know he was colored... When I hear them talk about
his invention, they always saying it s the future. It s the future of the cities. But it s our future, not
theirs. It s ours. And we need to take it back (Whitehead, 140). This quote strengthens the argument of
critical race theory because as previously

Case Priming Process Essay
Reloading is the practice of installing new primers, bullets and powder in previously fired ammunition
cases. The basic procedure of reloading is reletively simple, although powder and case measurements
can get fairly technical. There are a variety of ways to reload and a variety of tools and equipment to
do so with, in this report, I will cover the basic procedure of reloading with the equipment that I use.
The first step in the reloading procces is to clean the cases. This task can be accomplished in several
ways by using a case tumbler or with a super sonic cleaner. Some people prefer to use both of these in
specific proccess, I personally use a case tumbler. The second step is to resize and decap the case. This
is done with a loading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This too can be done with many tools and processes. I use a Lee auto prime tool. This tool simply puts
a primer in a case after filling the tool with primers, positioning the shell in the holder and squeezing
the lever. Priming cases is the most dangerous part of reloading and should always be done with
caution. Once the primer is installed, the powder can be put in the case. This can be done many
different ways but all procedures must be precise and accurate. It is very important not to under or
overload a case as this can cause firearm damage and or injury. Powder is measured in weight by a
unit called grains. I dispense my powder from a hopper with a variable dispense amout. the powder is
then measured and adjusted to the exaxt specified amount with a gravity scale for safety precaution
and is then funneled into the case. The final step of reloading is seating a bullet. It is very important to
seet the bulledt to the right depth as too deep or too shallow can cause a pressure issues. The bullet is
seated on the press with an adjustable seating die. I seat my bullets to the standard lenght given in the
manul. Each case should be measured and checked for

  • 2. The Differences Between Latin America Latin America is one region of the world known for its similarities across national borders, paired with stark differences. While Latin American countries share cultural elements such as, language, religion, and a colonial history, each society has developed differently in terms of political, economic, and social organization. One major difference across Latin America is individual nations relationships with family planning and abortion systems. Each country s stance on the morality of abortion, contraception, reproduction, and sexuality, differs from its neighbors and the region at large. In some cases the difference is visible within national borders, such as in Mexico, where abortion is only legal inside the capital city (Fondo Maria). In other cases the countries themselves are homogenous in law, but differ greatly from the legal positions of their neighbors. Due to such variation it is impossible to claim that Latin America as a whole aligns with one attitude concerning family planning and abortion. Additionally, both systems are simultaneously present in countries creating a complex and intriguing system of reproductive health. Due to this variety, this paper focuses on Chile and Cuba as examples of two opposing extremes. In Cuba abortion is legal under all circumstances as compared to Chile, where abortion was historically criminalized. These two country s situations ask the question of how family planning programs and abortion rates connect with and influence one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Success of the New Deal in Solving the Problems Caused by the Great Depression Introduction In the late 1920 s and early 1930 s the whole of America was in a deep depression and was in desperate need of help. When Franklin D Roosevelt was elected president of USA he came up with the plan of the new deal this was a planned guideline to regenerate money and the high standards of living the Americans once had not so long ago. He introduced 5 major organisations to restructure the American way of life they were now facing; these were the F.E.R.A, C.C.C, A.A.A, T.V.A and the N.R.A. Right from the start, TVA established a unique problem solving approach to fulfilling its mission integrated resource management. Each issue TVA faced whether it was power production, navigation, flood control, malaria prevention, reforestation, or erosion control was studied in its broadest context. The N.R.A was an act called for industrial self regulation and declared that codes of fair competition for the protection of consumers, competitors, and employers were to be drafted for the various industries of the country and were to be subject to public hearings. The administration was empowered to make voluntary agreements dealing with hours of work, rates of pay, and the fixing of prices. The AAA paid farmers not to grow crops and not to produce dairy produce such as milk and butter. It also paid them not to raise pigs and lambs. The money to pay the farmers for cutting back production of about 30% was raised by a tax on companies that bought the farm products and processed them into food and clothing. • 5. The Formula And Percent Water Of Hydrated Magnesium Sulfate Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to determine both the formula and percent water of hydrated magnesium sulfate. Background: According to George B. Kauffman of Britannica, a hydrate is any compound containing water in the form of H2O molecules, usually, but not always, with a definite content of water by weight. Within this, there are two aspects of the compound; the water of hydration and the anhydrous salt. When a hydrate is heated, the water of hydration leaves the compound as vapor due to the unsteady bonds between the water and salt molecules. The anhydrous salt ends up becoming the only piece that is leftover. From the two, the percent water in a hydrate and the mass of the salt can be determined from the loss of the water of hydration. As a result, the formula of the compound can be found because the masses of the salt and the water can be used to determine the mole ratio, which are both small, whole numbers. Materials: Gas burner Ring stand and ring Triangle made from clay Crucible + lid Crucible tongs Wire pad Balance scale Spatula Hydrated magnesium sulfate Procedure: Assemble the ring and ring stand atop a flat surface. Place the clay triangle in the center of the ring. Lastly, bring the crucible with its lid into the clay triangle, so that it is hanging. • 6. African Indentured Servants During Jamestown The first twenty Africans to arrive in Jamestown, Virginia in 1619 were eventually traded by the Dutch for food and supplies. A point worth noting, the first twenty Africans were not identified as legal property(slave). The former Spanish owners had baptized and given each a Christian name. In fact, Africans worked as indentured servants for a specified time because English law disallowed the enslaving of Christians. Africans became landowners and were of equal standing with the poor English Pilgrims. However, by 1640, Virginia court documents started displaying verdicts for a life of servitude. These were verdicts given to runaway indentured servants. African indentured servants to be exact. Between 1661 and 1662, a child s status in the colonial United States depended on whether the mother was free or a slave. Laws were passed that degraded blacks and forbid interracial marriage and sexual relations. Other laws prohibited blacks from bearing arms, traveling without written permission and finally, preventing blacks from owning property. In 1669, it was declared in Virginia that it would not be a crime to kill a disobedient slave while punishing him/her. Moreover in 1669, slave masters were banned from emancipating slaves. Slaves that were given their freedom could not stay in the colony. Furthermore, Virginia voted to banish Europeans who marry a black, mulatto, or Indian person. The artificial deadline provides automatic suspense and keeps the action within a short span of time. Another scene which speaks a lot about Dr. Prentice s state of mind is when he talks to his parents on the phone both at the airport and in the study of Mr. Drayton. He s clearly uncomfortable while he is telling his parents about the lady in his life. The facial expressions, nervousness and sweat on his forehead all suggest that he is uncomfortable. In fact he s not comfortable about telling them that she s not African American on the phone and prefers a less confrontational way of doing so by writing to them about it. After news has been broken to both Mr. and Mrs. Drayton, their first conversation about the recent development is in Mr. Drayton s study. First thing to observe is that when they are with each other they are much more relaxed and completely comfortable with each other. They are not shy of expressing their feelings to each other and in fact for the first time Mrs. Drayton expresses her approval or atleast a no objection to the marriage. She is proud of her daughter s choice and the fact that the values that they have taught her have not gone amiss in their daughter. • 8. The Importance Of Columbus Day Several schools within the state of Michigan celebrate Columbus Day, a holiday honoring the man that discovered the New World. However, Byron Center Public Schools does not. The question that has been asked is whether we should start to celebrate the holiday, or continue not to. The answer is that Byron Center should continue to not celebrate the holiday. Columbus day should not be celebrated because of the negative effect his reign had on the Natives, he was not the first person to discover the New World, and the damaging effect he had on biodiversity. The main reason Columbus Day should not be celebrated is because of the negative effect Columbus had on the Native people. Many sources of evidence have found that Columbus mistreated the Native Americans. For instance, the Spanish wanted to convert the natives to the Catholic church; however, the natives did not convert, so the Spanish resorted to violence to get what they wanted. After the natives were conquered, the survivors were enslaved in the Encomiendas system. Encomiendas was like slavery; the natives had to work without pay, and were not allowed to leave the land without permission. Columbus and his men also raped, murdered, and committed genocide against the people. Additionally, Columbus would force them to give him more gold than they even had, and ravaged their land when they did not give it to him. He abused the natives in many ways, which is why Columbus Day should not be celebrated. Columbus is most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Assessment and Analysis of Balanced Scorecards Assessment and Analysis of Balanced Scorecards Introduction The greater the competitive intensity of a given industry the more essential the four foundational elements of balanced scorecards become in translating expertise and knowledge into profitable performance. The BSC framework unifies and galvanizes the vision, mission and values of an enterprise into a framework that encompasses learning and growth, internal business processes, customer driven innovation and financial factors of the business (Kaplan, Norton, 2001). Case analyses of the Tri Cities Community Bank: A Balanced Scorecard Case (Albright, Davis, Hibbets, 2001) and Walmart Corporation illustrate how causal chain analysis is an essential component of a complete BSC strategy. The value of causal chain analysis is particularly valid for Walmart Corporation, whose business model is predicated on the continual operation of a smoothly functioning supply chain that needs to continually translate learning into process improvement for improving the customer experience and profits (Park, Min, Park, 2011). Walmart illustrates how difficult it is to simultaneously balance the four perspectives in the balanced scorecard. Part One of this analysis illustrates through previous case analyses and research completed in this course. Part Two of this analysis defines and discusses two concepts that are essential to be successful in business administration. Part Three is s reflective essay on experiences taking this course in ... She did remember his boasting one day, at Netherfield, of the implacability of his resentments, of his having an unforgiving temper. His disposition must be dreadful (101). After hearing Mr. Wickham s lies, Elizabeth said I had not thought Mr. Darcy so bad as this though I have never liked him. I had not thought so very ill of him (100). Awhile later, Elizabeth along with her aunt and uncle, mr. and Mrs. Gardiner, decided to tour the home of Mr. Darcy, Pemberley. Her vision of Mr. Darcy soon changes after this visit. Through the discussion between Mr. Darcy s housekeeper, Mrs. Reynolds, Elizabeth learns of Mr. Wickham s true nature. She explains He has turned out very wild (303). Mrs. Reynolds goes on and compliments Mr. Darcy s looks, kind heartedness, and generosity. Elizabeth had not seen this side of Mr. Darcy until he surprised them at Pemberley. Elizabeth thought to herself about his behaviour, so strikingly altered what could it mean? That he should even speak to her was amazing! but to speak with such civility, to inquire after her family! • 11. The Distinguished Works of the Preeminent Black Author,... The Distinguished Works of the Preeminent Black Author, Ralph Ellison Ralph Ellison is one of the most lauded yet misunderstood writers of the twentieth century. Ellison is considered a short story writer and an essayist at heart, but his most distinguished work is the novel, Invisible Man. Ellison has been called everything from the greatest black American author (Brennan) to unnecessarily excessive in his writing style ( Ralph Ellison: 1914 1994 ). For the most part, Ellison is held in high regard in the literary community. The critical consensus on Ralph Ellison is that he is one of the most influential and passionate authors of his generation. Ellison s final novel, Juneteenth, which was near completion at the time of his death, was published in 1999 (Kennedy and Gioia). Even after his death, Ellison s work lives on as a testament to his talent. His stories still hold significance today and his works are still receiving honors even after his death. Most scholars accept Invisible Man as Ellison s preeminent work. In 1965, a group of literary scholars polled by The New York Herald Tribune voted Invisible Man as the most distinguished novel written by an American during the previous 20 years (Mitgang). Invisible Man is the story of the struggles of a black man in an oppressive, white society. Although this story is technically fiction, many of the events mirror the life of Ellison. The main character in Invisible Man is at first naĂŻve about the prejudices of white society and acts accordingly. As the story progresses, through experience he becomes aware of society s injustices and his attitude becomes cautious. It is these experiences in which the naĂŻve hero learns, to his ... • 13. Araby By James Joyce Point Of View There was no doubt about it: if you wanted to succeed you had to go away. You could do nothing in Dublin. Little Chandler proclaimed this in the short story A Little Cloud and was a common theme within Joyce s short stories. He used his short stories as a medium to reach the hearts and minds of the people in Dublin, the place he called home. Although it was his home he didn t have the fondest memories of it which are clearly present in his writing. James Joyce was, in my opinion, a revolutionary who used his short stories as a means of changing the way of thinking for the homeland he resented. Joyce s characters embark on a cyclical journey that can often puzzle the reader. The characters decisions throughout the short story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joyce made a profound statement by describing her as a helpless animal because of her inability to act and chase her desire. As the boat pulled away the reader could feel Eveline s life perish and her beginning the automation of a dull and unfulfilling life in Dublin. Another frustrating cycle of hope and eventually anguish is present in Araby by Joyce. You follow the journey of the narrator who wants to buy a gift for a girl he is enchanted with from the splendid bazaar . This seems like a simple task but Joyce uses this a chance to emphasize the mentality and hopelessness of the people of Dublin. As the day arrives for him to go to the bazaar the doubt already sets into his mind. His normal morning routine was to watch out the window as the girl would emerge from her door, but on this day his uncle was in the way and he wasn t able to do it. The inability to lie at the window had a depressing effect on him while walking to school he described the air as pitilessly raw and was clearly discouraged saying already my heart misgave me . He finally reaches the bazaar later after his uncle comes home late, and also drunk, and what he encounters has a devastating effect on him. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Malthus was an economic pessimist to those who disagreed with him and a realist to his followers. He viewed poverty as something that was inevitable because, If the only check to population is misery, the result of any improvement is ultimately to enable a larger population than before to live in misery, so that resource improvement actually increases the sum of misery and that betterment of the lot of mankind is impossible without stern limits on reproduction. This means that there is overpopulation, and the natural check of misery (poverty) is coming into effect in order to balance out overpopulation. However, by trying to help poverty, we are (according to Malthus) making the situation worse. In the short run, there seems to be an improvement because those poor people are better off and can do well. This situation would lead to a larger population than before, and therefore would lead to a greater number of people becoming impoverished. He therefore shunned charities and proposed that by leaving poverty alone, and by moral restraint and vice (contraception and population control); the situation would take care of itself. If the only check to population is misery, the population will grow until it is miserable enough to check its growth. In the novel the setting of the story takes place in a small town named Castle Rock that is located in Maine in the year 1960 and in the film the setting is Castle Rock, Oregon in 1959. Adding to differences is that in the novel in chapter seven there is a story that is told by Gordie called Stud City in the film it is not shown or mentioned. This would be considered a major change because the story shows how smart and mature Gordie is for a twelve year old and it is important for the build up of the character but it is excluded from the film. Another difference is that in the novel when the boys find the body and they confront the other boys Chris pulls the gun out to make them leave. • 17. The Basic Buddhist Teachings Explain the basic Buddhist teachings including the Three Marks of Reality, the Four Noble Truths, and the Noble Eightfold Path. The Three Marks of Reality denote the nature of human existence: the reality of suffering (which does not mean the presence of sorrow, but rather the existence of a constantly changing world where neither extreme happiness nor misery is stable); the impermanent nature of all things, including human existence; and finally egolessness or the notion that there is no stable, human self (O Brien, 2012, Three Marks). The Three Marks of Reality relate directly to the Four Noble Truths, the first tenant of which is that there is suffering in the world, and the second of which is that there is a cause of suffering: suffering caused by the false conception that there is a stable human ego. The third noble truth is that there is an end to suffering, and the fourth is that the end to suffering can be achieved by following the Eightfold Path (O Brien, 2012, Four Noble Truths). The Eightfold Path is divided into three basic sections: that of wisdom, ethical conduct, and mental discipline. Right view and right intention means understanding what the Buddha taught and striving to follow the path for the right reasons. Right speech, action, and livelihood mean acting in a beneficial manner towards others. Right effort, mindfulness and concentration require the practitioner to discipline him or herself with meditation (O Brien, 2012, Eightfold Path). Amongst all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This means the sounds of the tissue reflects back to the transducer and then back to the computer for evaluation. Then, After interacting with the soft tissues, a portion of the sound is reflected back toward the source of the sound (Blevins et al. 1). Basically the ultrasound evaluates the sound waves coming from inside of the body of the soft tissue. The sound waves travel back to the computer to produce an image on the screen. • 19. The Gap Between Science And Science Fiction Science fiction is full of machines that have feelings. In 2001: A Space Odyssey, the onboard computer turns against the crew of the spaceship Discovery 1, and utters cries of pain and fear when his circuits are finally taken apart. In Blade Runner, a humanoid robot is distressed to learn that her memories are not real, but have been implanted in her silicon brain by her programmer. In Bicentennial Man, Robin Williams plays the part of a robot who redesigns his own circuitry so that he can experience the full range of human feelings. These stories achieve their effect in part because the capacity for emotion is often considered to be one of the main differences between humans and machines. This is certainly true of the machines we know today. The responses we receive from computers are rather dry affairs, such as System error 1378 . People sometimes get angry with their computers and shout at them as if they had emotions, but the computers take no notice. They neither feel their own feelings, nor recognize yours. The gap between science fiction and science fact appears vast, but some researchers in artificial intelligence now believe it is only a question of time before it is bridged. He burned Rome so he could build Rome as he imagined it, he blamed the fire on the Christians, and he persecuted the Christians. Those are the acts that have been proven to be done by him that have affected Rome the most. He has also done some despicable things to become and stay emperor. Emperor Nero ruled Rome from 54 AD to 68 AD. He was originally named Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, but his name was changed to Nero in 49 AD when Lucius s mother Agrippina married Emperor Claudius. Historians have read that Nero s fate was inevitable. His real father, Gnaeus Domitius, who died when Nero was three, was extremely violent. It is written that Gnaeus once deliberately ran over a young boy with his chariot as he drove through a local village. When his friends congratulated him upon hearing of the birth of his son, Nero s father said that anything born to Agrippina and him would be unlikeable and a disaster. Because of these traits in Nero s father, the people knew that hardly any good could come out of it. The people of Rome were right. One of the most despicable manifestations of human flesh ever to disgrace this planet was Nero Claudius Caesar. Born in A.D. 37, Nero was educated at the feet of the philosopher Seneca (whom he eventually forced to commit suicide). Essay on Northwest Coast Tribal Art Northwest Coast Tribal Masks This paper describes the Sea Bear Transformation Mask, created by Don Svanvik in 2000, and how it reflects Northwest Coast Indian art and culture, specific to the Kwakiutl tribe. A transformation mask is a large mask with hinged shutters that, when open, reveal another mask. Audrey and Alan Bleviss gave this mask to the Montclair Art Museum in 2005. The medium consists of red cedar, cedar bark, copper, pigment, and string. In the Montclair Art Museum, the mask is displayed in its open form. The inside of the mask shows a man sitting with his legs bent in front of him while his arms are open and stretched to his sides. His facial features consist of sharp cheekbones, a wide triangular nose, a goat t, a thin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much of the inside of the mask is the color of red cedar. The ovals that make up the shoulder joints are filled in with red pigment. The formline that outlines the entire body is black and varies in thickness. The formline is thick under the feet and around the palms of the hands. The formline around the chest and knees is a bit thicker and is red. (www.freespiritgallery.ca) The artist made the arms and legs transparent so the viewer is able to see the subject s skeleton. In the middle of each arm are two spikes, one on top and one on the bottom, which represents the man s elbows. The bones of the arms and legs are tinted a slightly darker color looking almost gray. Long strips of cedar bark that are attached to the outside of the mask can be seen under the arms when the mask is open. While still open, cedar bark bound together is seen on top of where the arms are placed, on both sides of the figure s head. The three strings coming from the figure s mouth allow the mask to close, allowing it to transform and take the shape of a different figure. The transformation mask in its closed position takes on an entirely new character. This mask is supposed to depict a sea bear; however, its features closely resemble that of a dragon. The subject s teeth are large and look fierce. It has two large round nostrils and huge eyes. The cedar bark makes the subject look like it has a lion s mane. With its mouth open, the ... • 31. Medical Marijuana Legalization Global Impact of the Legalization of Medical Marijuana Medical marijuana has become an extreme controversy for many different countries around the world. According to the National Conference of State Legislation, twenty nine states in the United States have legalized medical marijuana, (State) along with select countries around the world. Different regions of the world have varying views and laws for medical cannabis. Medical marijuana can drastically improve the quality of ill people s lives, and ease pain that otherwise make daily life miserable. According to two well known professors at University of Salerno, cannabis has been used to relieve chronic pain, muscular cramps and neurological or spinal pains (Bifulco and Pisanti). Although medical marijuana s purpose would be to alleviate pain, some are concerned that it could be a gateway drug, which means it could potentially lead people to become addicted to stronger substances. California was the first state in the United States to pass laws making medical marijuana legal. As of 2017, thirty three American states or territories have passed similar laws regarding cannabis, leaving twenty three states with the illegalization of medical marijuana (State). Other countries within North America have also made medical marijuana legal, including Canada. According to Canada s government website, medical marijuana has been legal since 2001 (Marihuana). • 33. Compare And Contrast Hrothgar And Beowulf The epic poem Beowulf translated by Seamus Heaney, presents two heroic kings that have very clear differences on how they overcome challenges but they still keep their people in safe keepings. Hrothgar and Beowulf are admired by their people because they both show strong characteristics of what an Anglo Saxon king should do or be. The king of Danes, Hrothgar, was first introduced as an accomplished and wise king. He comes to be well known as a young king when he protected Beowulf s now departed father, Ecgtheow. Hrothgar wergild peace with Ecgtheow s enemies so that the bloody feud would end. With Hrothgar doing this generous deed to help Ecgtheow and his kingdom out Beowulf devotes his assistance in the beginning of the poem. One thing that makes Hrothgar a good king is that he always seems to stay true to his word, as is told at the beginning, the king kept well his pledge and promise to deal out gifts, rings at the banquet (53 55). It was clear that Hrothgar was an exceptional military leader with his bravery and strength but he is aged now and cannot fight the same as he used to. The Danes are then faced with an evil and wicked monster, Grendel, who terrorizes his realm. Beowulf asks Hrothgar if he could fight this battle for him to pay back his family debt and Hrothgar agreed. Hrothgar makes a promise to reward Beowulf if he succeeds in killing the monster Grendel. Trade barriers are the ways that governments or public are familiarizing to make imported goods or services less economical than locally produced goods and services. • 35. How Important Was “Regulatory Capture” in Causing the... The purpose of this paper is to show that the regulatory capture has played a role not easily measurable in causing the global financial crisis. To illustrate this, the first step will to describe the regulatory capture in its three possible qualifications; then, I will explain, providing some examples, how each of these categories played a possible role in posing the basis for the financial crisis. While illustrating the different forms of capture I will present some questions that leave space to different answers. Finally, I will conclude that the regulatory capture have surely played a role in generating the crisis, but it is not possible to evaluate the effective role it had in causing it. Regulatory capture is not easily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, the increased importance of networks and the rise of highly systemic banks created a system in which the banks became, on one side, too big to fail, and, on the other, too big to save. Indeed, the lesson from Lehman Brothers Chapter 11 is that letting go bankrupt a systemic player (even not one of the largest) might bring about unknown undesirable effects. The policy makers are, therefore, definitely captured because banking sector is architecture in such a way that constrains the policy makers to go through a bail out in case of a relevant financial distress. So which are the consequences of this behaviour? The outcomes are double: the ex ante banks possibility to engage moral hazard behaviour and the ex post debt burden on the tax payers. This creates an incentive for the banks to take more risks due to the implicit protection of the government, that rely on the tax payers to pay for the bailouts, creating a substantial problem of fairness and social equity, in which low income class has to pay for the top income class errors. Another example of this theory is the state dependence on taxes generated by the financial sector. For instance, in the UK the financial sector s gross value added (GVA) rose over the last decade, but has declined since 2009. Its contribution to UK jobs is around 3.6%. Trade in financial services makes up a substantial proportion of the UK s trade surplus in services. Estimates of the sector s contribution to Government tax ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Analysis Of A Streetcar Named Desire Practice Essay: Emilia Kelly The two texts of Enduring Love and A Streetcar named Desire show privilege of one way of perceiving the world over the other in their conclusions. Ian McEwan s Enduring Love, shows favour of Joe s scientific and rational view but also demonstrates that it is flawed. Similarly, Tennessee Williams shows that realism in inevitable but is not always desirable in the play A Streetcar Names Desire. Both texts explore explore the responses of their protagonists of a crisis with Ian McEwan s post modern novel Enduring Love showing the destruction of Joe Rose s world following a hot air ballooning tragedy through his scientific perspective. While the southern gothic play of A Streetcar Named Desire explores the perception of Blanche following life s tragedies of the death of her husband. There are many similarities and differences within the text with Enduring Love s Joe and A Streetcar Named Desire s Stanley both representing the favoured perception of logic and reality, while characters such as Blanche and Jed expressing the less favourable perception of fantasy and delusion. Other characters of Clarissa and Stella, have their perception shaped by their emotional relationships that still result in unfavourable outcomes. • 38. Evil and Good In Horrendous Evils and the Goodness of God , Marilyn McCord Adams uses another kind of defense for theism. In this reading Adams argues that the problem of evil has been directed at theism in general, which in this case has caused readers on either side of the debate to miss how important and how unique Christianity is to the problem of horrendous evils on this view. She argues that Christianity has a variety of unique tools that can meet the problem of evil more effectively when not abstracted into simply classical theism. Adams account has the kind of honest, penetrating discussion of real evil in our world about which philosophy would do well to take notice. Rather than jettisoning these types of answers, then, I think we would be best suited adding Adams defense to the many faceted response to the problem of evil from Christian philosophers of religion. My first objection is that she looks at the problem of evil as residing fundamentally in the finitude of creatures. She says that the main hurdle to atonement lies not in what we as people do but what and who we are. In the face of the holy, to use Otto s key term, `we have no more rightful place in God s household than worms and maggots do in ours nothing we could naturally be or do would make us suitable for divine company. There s just a `size gap between us and God We are also `metaphysical stragglers , who in various ways break down normal categories, and therefore in Douglas s terms are prime candidates to be unclean. Like fish without scales or anteaters that climb trees, we by our very natures challenge the orderliness of the cosmos, and are thus metaphysically unclean. It is thus our nature as the kind of creatures we are that leads Isaiah to declare paradigmatically in the face of God s holiness that he is a man of unclean lips who dwells among a people of unclean lips. Certainly some strands of Christian theology, particularly in the East, have taken this view, but I think they represent a minority. The majority opinion has been that human nature (finite and however odd though it may be) is one thing, and sin is quite another. Like the rest of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. A Meta Analysis Of Schizophrenia Used By Heinrichs And... Within the 47 studies, were wide ranges of neuropsychological tests including 156 cognitive test variables. This meta analysis categorized the tests into ten broad, separable cognitive domains allowing for a general outline. These tests were categorized based on a similar outline for a meta analysis of schizophrenia used by Heinrichs and Zakzanis in 1998. These ten cognitive domains support quantitative and interpretive comparisons and include: immediate verbal memory, attention (divided into three subdomains of processing speed, working memory, and vigilance), nonverbal memory, general cognitive ability, language functions, visuospatial abilities, delayed verbal memory and learning strategies, executive functioning, social cognition, and motor skills. Studies show medium to large deficits for first episode schizophrenia samples compared to the control samples. Testing indicated first episode samples preform worse and show impairments in each domain category compared to control samples based on negative ES values. In addition, analyses showed significant heterogeneity amongst all ten domains (Mesholam Gately et al., 2009). It is evident that there are significant impairments among first episode samples in the three groups of memory, specifically in both serial list learning and story memory immediate recall where SMDs were 1.20. A smaller ES (SMD of 0.85) was found in delayed verbal memory and learning strategies; similarly, the nonverbal memory domain SMD was 0.91. All ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Clearly the two do not go well, I mean seriously, what kind of combo is Buffy and Angel really? This can be done many different ways but all procedures must be precise and accurate. It is very important not to under or overload a case as this can cause firearm damage and or injury. Powder is measured in weight by a unit called grains.
