Rhetorical Analysis Of Invictus
Invictus Rhetorical Analysis Essay A time of difficulties always comes and goes and it has always
been known to stay strong during those times. This, in many ways, connects to countless people,
including great writers who often describe their difficult times through acting or other forms of
writing. William Ernest Henley was an author who used his challenges to write a poem. This was a
dramatic but motivational poem that heavily used rhetorical devices to describe how he managed
through his darkest times. William Ernest Henley took use of personification, connotation, and
alliteration in the poem Invictus to prove that anyone can overcome obstacles by staying strong and
believing in themselves. For a start, Henley gave human like characteristics to words so he could, in a
way, visually show that the mind should always remain strong in difficult times by using
personification. He dramatically describes that sometimes not everything goes accordingly as he says,
In the fell clutch of circumstance (5). Here, the author makes circumstance seem evil or bad. The
action that he characterized circumstance of doing expresses that challenges can come at the worst
times. Even more, he is describing that circumstance has a fell clutch implying that he went through a
horribly long and dark period. This gives the reader a perspective that occasionally things do not
always go their way. It connects to the theme that difficult times are always thrown at one s way and
that they may not always be prepared for the challenging part of those times. Henley took advantage
of personification once again to relate to his theme. Henley shows his courage through his dark times
by saying, And yet the menace of the years/Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. (11 12) Here, Henley
makes the word year seem mean or cruel. He does this by describing that it is a menace otherwise
implying that it is harsh or cruel. By including that it searches for him, he also indicates that he ran
into difficult times often, but stays optimistic by saying that it found him unafraid. This makes the
reader aware that even though challenges always come up, they should always be courageous, just like
he was. Henley writes that he stayed positive during

Wmt Valuation Essay
Summary Valuing Wal Mart In utilizing the fundamental data provided by the 2010 Richard Ivey
School of Business Foundation article titled Valuing Wal Mart 2010, I have made the following
conclusions regarding the value of Wal Mart (WMT) stock as of February 2012. * Utilizing the
constant growth dividend discount model (DDM), the value of Wal Mart s stock price is $60.20. The
most recent closing price of Wal Mart stock was $53.48. Given this information, the constant growth
DDM valuation suggests that the Wal Mart stock is currently undervalued. * Utilizing the two stage
DDM approach, the value of Wal Mart s stock price is $83.95. Similar to the constant growth DDM
valuation conclusion, the Wal Mart stock is currently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the mid part of the 80 s and into the early 90 s Wal Mart had still produced annual earnings
growth over 20%. It wasn t until the early part of the century where Wal Mart had produced earnings
growth in the low teens to single digits. With that as supporting material, Wal Mart has already
experienced it s growth and transition phases of its business cycle and is more in their maturity stage
of their business. As of 2010, Wal Mart is the largest retailer in the world with more than $400 billion
in annual revenues across more than 8,000 stores. It would be. It would not be justifiable to utilize the
three stage dividend approach in valuing such a mature company. Capital Asset Pricing Model

risk free rate (Rf) of 3.68%, which was the provided 10 year government bond yield to use as a proxy
for the risk free rate. The beta (β ) of Wal Mart was 0.66 according to the provided Bloomberg beta

Romeo And Juliet Death
While the death of Romeo and Juliet caused a truce between their families, someone is still to blame
for the tragic event. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is about two star crossed lovers who
have a forbidden love, because of a feud between their families. They try many ways to make their
love work out, including an intelligent plan made by their friar, but it go so well.. The two kill
themselves due to a misunderstanding of events. Many characters in the story could be held
responsible for the blame of the two lovers death. A common debate is as to which are the main ones
accused. The families of the starcrossed pair, and the fate of their love are to blame, but their Friar is
carrying the most responsibility for their deaths. Romeo and Juliet s families, the Montagues and
Capulets are forces held to blame for their children s suicides. Juliet s father, Capulet, scolds Juliet for
not wanting to marry Paris, a bachelor prince her parents had set up for her. Juliet wants to marry
Romeo only. Hang thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get thee to church o
Thursday. Or never look me in the face. Speak not, reply not, do not answer me. My fingers itch...
(Document D) Capulet is telling Juliet she must go to the church Thursday and marry Paris, if she tries
to talk back again, he will hit her. Juliet s mother is also rushing her daughter s marriage. Well, think
of marriage now; younger than you. (Document B) Juliet s mother is telling her she has

The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas As A Rising Action And...
Once upon a time in era so far far away the first story was made, which created the very first plot
development. All enclosed in this plot development was a rising action, climax, falling action, and
resolution. Authors ever since have been following this plot development structure and improving how
stories are structured with every new writing. Even through the stories in Perine s Literary Anthology
such as The Most Dangerous Game , The story of an Hour , and The Ones Who Walk Away from
Omelas. , these plot structures are evident. All of these stories start with a rising action which is

He knocks on the door and is greeted by Ivan who says he cannot help him until General Zaroff comes
to the door and invites Rainsford in his house. Finally, one of the last parts of the rising action in The
Most Dangerous Game is when Zaroff says that he has found a new species of game to hunt.
Rainsford is confused as to what he means at first but then realizes that General Zaroff s new most
dangerous game is humans. Zaroff wants Rainsford to then be his next prey. After Rainsford is
coerced into agreeing and becoming the Generals next game, Zaroff finds Rainsford easily at one
point in the story, but he lets him escape. Rainsford then runs for miles, so Zaroff eventually returns
back to his house where the climax shows Zaroff s surprise at seeing Rainsford hiding there. Zaroff
says moments before they fight that, the dogs will eat one of them that night while the other will sleep
in the comfortable bed. Rainsford wraps up the story by admitting that he has never slept in a more
comfortable bed.
Louise Mallard is the main character throughout the entire story of, The Story of an Hour, and she has
serious heart trouble. The rising action begins when Louise s sister Josephine tells her about what has
happened to her husband while he was at work. Her husband was involved in a railroad crash and had
been killed. Louise then goes to her room to contemplate the death of her husband. While in her room,

Errors with Barcode Medication Administration
Erin Graham
West Texas A amp;M
October 02, 2012
Abstract
Medication errors are among the most significant cause of patient injury in all types of medical errors
(Johnson, Carlson, Tucker, amp; Willette, n.d). In the nursing profession, medication administration
errors occur 34% of the time, second only to physician ordering errors (Gooder, 2011). The
introduction of information technology, such as the Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA),
offers new opportunities for reducing medication administration errors. BCMA was developed by the
Veteran s Affairs Medical Center in 1998 to help improve the documentation of medication
administration, decrease medication errors and provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nurse must verify the physician s medication order, including the dose and time, and then the
pharmacy is responsible for their own checks and balances via the BCMA system in order to complete
the dispensing phase of the medication (Gooder, 2011). The nurse enters the BCMA system with a
login and password and is able then to see a list of the virtual due list for a specific patient. The
computer on wheels is then taken to that patient s room and the five rights of medication
administration begin. As nurses, we are taught to use the five rights of drug administration are (1) right
patient (2) right medication (3) right dose (4) right route and (5) right time. By scanning the barcode
on the patient s hospital identification band, the nurse then asks for the patient to verbally state their
name and date of birth, which can be verified by the nurse on the virtual due list and then choses the
medication that are due for administration at that time. The medication is dispensed and the nurse is
able to scan the barcode on the medication, the scanning triggers the automatic documentation of the
medication given (Kelly, 2012).
According to pharmacist T. Perryman, the errors he sees the most in the pharmacy setting occurs when
hospital made barcodes are being added to the medication rather than the medication having factory
barcodes already present. The process of standardizing all pharmaceutical drug

The Current Situation And Future Requirements Of Data...
(1) Design In order to understand the current situation and future requirements of data storage for
higher education in China, questionnaires and interviews about current systems and platforms are
necessary. Questionnaires are one of quantitative methods to investigate some basic questions which
may not accurately. Interviews one on one through face to face, telephone or Skype is one of
qualitative methods to develop a deep understanding which may not academic. However, data from
existing literature and text mining research are more accurate and academic which may only show the
genetic preference. As a result, to get what we need, combining three methods are important.

As for higher education survey, the questionnaire method is the best method as the respondents are
well educated. Recently, the majority of the higher education surveys have been adopted this method
and achieved the goals of research. The advantages of using this method in higher education are: (1) it
is easy to control and design questionnaires as each surveyed system has single users (2) it is well
applied as the respondents are well educated (3) the questionnaire method is time saving, low cost (4)
it is good to have anonymous questionnaires (5) the information from the questionnaires is easy to
analysis (6) it can avoid subjective biases and human errors. Target samples: students and teachers
who are studying or work at the university. Sample size: 150 250 persons in each university

Rifleman Dodd Book Report
Rifleman Dodd
By: C.S. Forester
Rifleman Dodd is a fictional novel that follows the struggle of one British rifleman I chose this book
because as a junior Marine it seemed like it would relate to me and many of the diverse situations I
was being faced with. Rifleman Dodd provided me with a motivation to learn as much as I could and
to always apply my knowledge and training to any given scenario. This book follows a British
Rifleman fighting in the French, Portuguese War in 1807. Matthew Dodd, the main character in this
novel, must conquer many mental and physical challenges to complete his mission. In a risky retreat
to the lines of Torres Vedras, Rifleman Dodd is left behind in this costly maneuver. With Dodd, only
being a Private of the British Army, is very unaccustomed to the trials of war leaving him to reflect to

Knowing well that the odds of surviving are very slim, Dodd manages to utilize many military like
tactics to beat the French in various battles. Doing so, this shows the reader how effective the proper
use of applied training can be when used correctly. A few examples of this would be when Dodd used
skirmisher movements to take out French dragoons. Another scenario would be when Private Dodd
uses proper cover and concealment to sneak through a French checkpoint and burn down a bridge that
was being built for a French attack. These tactics came to his success in the long run, eventually
reuniting Rifleman Dodd back to his soldiers near the end of the book. Although he never expected to
be a hero or anything of the sort, Dodd took the initiative to help stop the French advancement
regardless of the things

Ancient East Asian Art From Gandhara
Ancient East Asian Art from Gandhara The Asian Art Museum located at 200 Larkin St San Francisco,
CA 94102 is filled with antiquities through the ages of Asian culture. Within the museum, in gallery
one, the showroom is filled with ancient art from East India. Particularly, ancient art from Gandhara,
strikes the audience immediately upon entry into the gallery. The Seated Buddha, dated approximately
300 500 CE, was found in the northwest area of modern day Pakistan within the Peshawar valley, once
known as the ancient region of Gandhara. (Wall Label) Images of Buddha that have been found were
all dated at least 500 years after the death of Buddha, who lived around 400 BC. Interestingly, the first
few images of Buddha all have him shown in an enlightened state of being, seated in his lotus
position, and wearing simple monk robes with one of his hands held at the chest while his fingers
turning an invisible wheel symbolizing setting in motion the wheel of the doctrine that is, preaching.
(Wall Label) The Seated Buddha sculpture has Buddha sitting on a throne with a scene depicted on the
bottom. The scene shows a princely figure in the middle with all his devotees surrounding him. This
scene depicts the Gods urging Buddha to start his path towards enlightenment. The Seated Buddha
was made with Schist, a form of dense stone that the region of Gandhara explicitly used for statues of
Buddha and religious works of art. The Seated Buddha is half human size and seated on top

training and firm regiment make his children not only superior intellectuals, but also physically
superior to children their ages. The director uses very specific and effective strategies to clue the

In the first five to ten minutes of the film there is minimal to almost zero talking, this is not only
exclusive to the beginning the ending of the movie. The ending which will be elaborated about later
has a very carefully crafted minimal dialog to almost put the viewer in an awkward state where the
extreme lack of dialog, heightnes the other senses causing the viewer to notice carefully placed details
by the director. One of these details that is shown in both the beginning and end of the film is the use
of mason jars. The beginning the camera moves into a storage container where we see the shelves are
stock full of mason jars filled with fruit, dried and perserved roots and berries. This is juxtoposed
greatly to the end of the film when you see Ben with five brown paper bags packing lunches for his
children as they are going off to school. You see him place fresh apples and very similar food to the

If I would ever hear from you again. Jenna and Nikki had met at university over 10 years ago and as
friends had almost been inseparable. It was a friendship that on one occasion it nearly became
something more. The silence between the two had been almost deafening before routine and the

She was born to wealthy parents and seemingly had every opportunity in the world laid out in front of
her, whereas Jenna had very little.
She had left college and worked hard to build up some cash to take on her first bar. This had been a
success and soon she bought another. Within 8 years, her bars and restaurants were running smoothly
and were highly regarded in the city. She had achieved this with her own hard work and with little or
no help from anyone.
Nikki unsurprisingly also had done well for herself and settled down with Dan a big, handsome guy
that Jenna had noticed from her days on campus. She had seen him drinking in one of her bars once
and had a flirty chat with him. If she was being honest with herself this was the kind of guy that she
would like to settle down with. He was successful, smart and with a certain look in his eye that led her
to think there was more to him than people would imagine.
Jenna had not settled down, far from it. She had a few arrangements in place with men and woman to
ensure nice and unexciting would never be something that she would have to endure. She had taken
control of her life and had the time and resources to fulfil almost any desire that she could imagine.

The Criminal Justice System Is The Law Of The Land
The criminal justice system as a whole can be looked at in numerous ways depending on the sub
category you want to approach, whether it be the federal law, law enforcement or correctional
programs. In most eyes, the federal law is the law of the land and by that it provides a stable
community of rules that everyone must follow with efficiency while providing public safety. With that
comes the enforcement of the law, the most common being police. In essence majority of the united
states looks at the police in a positive light as they are providing support to the community, controlling
crime and making the areas we live at safer on a daily basis. Finally you have the correctional

Federal statute that makes it a felony to mishandle classified information either intentionally or in a
grossly negligent way; or a second statute making it a misdemeanor to knowingly remove classified

Clinton has broken three federal laws including the mishandling of classified information, the
violation of the 2009 federal records act and the violation of the freedom of information act (FOIA).
Executive Order 13526 and 18 U.S.C Sec. 793(f) of the federal code make it unlawful to send of store

using a private email system, Secretary Clinton violated the Federal Records Act and the State

Dumpster Diving Eighner
Eighner chooses to dive into dumpsters not because he needs the material items he finds, but rather
because he does not. In the conclusion of his essay On Dumpster Diving, Eighner makes it clear that
he believes excess material objects are unnecessary and that they do more harm than good for a
person, and this is true. Eighner accurately describes how having large amounts of material goods
does nothing to improve the well being or morality of the human race because holding onto physical
possessions leads to the development of bad habits and traits within society.
Having more material possessions makes people less grateful for what they have and more likely to be
wasteful. In his essay, Eighner describes how college students throw out many good things, including
food. Because the students are accustomed to having so many material possessions, they do not think
twice before throwing a portion of it into the dumpster. On the other hand, Eighner thinks of himself
as very non materialistic, so he only takes what he needs and is not wasteful because he does not have
many remains or unused items to throw away. It might not seem ... Show more content on

What Role Does Lucia Play In Mad Forest
The UNCW theatre department s production of Mad Forest had many great actors and actresses

Taylor England playing the role of Lucia was very intriguing to watch. Her facial expressions alone

The Sound Of St. Mary-Le-Bow Bells
The Sound of St. Mary le Bow Bells: The Decline of the Cockney Accent
The Cockney accent is a British dialect possessing a longstanding and rich history. Famous for its use
of rhyming slang and unique linguistics, the Cockney accent, and the history associated with it, is a
source of pride to many living in London s East End. The traditional definition of a cockney is one
who was born within the sound of St. Mary le Bow Church bells, though, an accent typical of working
class Londoner suffices as well (Mott 71). Despite the accent s century long history being tied to the
working class of London s East End, there is now a large shift in the region s dialect. A large influx of
immigration has occurred in the East End, and the result is the slow emergence of a new accent.
Sociolinguistics Dr. Sue Fox refers to it as Multicultural London English, and describes the accent as
one of Jamaican, Indian subcontinent and West African English (Hayes). With the emergence of the
new accent, the notorious rhyming slang is disappearing, and certain traditional Cockney inflections
are becoming less frequent. While the accent is not completely lost due to native speakers carrying it
with them as they migrate from the East End, the research as it currently stands, suggests the accent s
future is one of continued decline.
The Cockney accent is characterized by several different features, one of its most notable being,
rhyming slang. Cockney rhyming slang functions by substituting a word for

Colleges should provide books for students that are included into the tuition cost. The cost of books
can exceed thousand of dollars a year putting strain on students that don t get enough financial help

Metamoratives In Life Of Pi By Yann Martel
In the novel Life of Pi (2001) written by Yann Martel the story is about a young man by the name of
Piscine Molitor Patel whose whole life changes in a blink of an eye and finds himself suddenly stuck
with a Bengal tiger by the name of Richard Parker after he faces a shipwreck and loses his family.
Yann brings the book to life when he puts imagination into it. In the first section of the novel, the book
covers Pi s childhood and how he majors in religious studies and zoology. In the second section of the
novel, Pi s transition into a man and how he brings out the animal in him is what basically gets him
and Richard Parker to survive for so long and not die. Pi does risky things in this section for example
when he chooses to train Richard Parker rather than to kill him and kills baby sharks as well to eat

Canadian Pizza
In the 21st century, businesses have been exposed to a new kind of business practice model called e
commerce. E commerce is the technique of carrying out the business operations through the internet.
This not only expands the customer base for the business, but also ensures that products and services
are delivered in a more organized manner. For the purpose of expanding the operations and to better
cater to the needs of the individual customer, Canadian Pizza has also initiated its own e commerce
platform by creating their website called www.canadian pizza.com.
By accepting orders online, Canadian Pizza will be able to maintain more accurate information
regarding the customers. This may also form part of an integrated Enterprise Resource ... Show more

Although the website provides all the basic information as you would expect in a normal e commerce
website. It does not allow the customer to place an order online. If the customer is able to place an
order online, then it may help increase the sales for Canadian pizza. Delivery services currently
accounts for around 80 percent of the total revenue made by the company, but it represents a mere 7%
to 8% of the total market share. Therefore, they do have significant scope of market share expansion,
which may translate into greater sales and greater profit for the company. Therefore if the company
merely adds the option to place orders and checkout online, then it may significantly help increase
their market share. Customers can easily sieve through their product list and then place and order
online. This will be quicker and easier to process both for the customers as well as the company.

Athens, Sometime Around 50 A.D. You Find Yourself In One
Athens, sometime around 50 A.D. You find yourself in one of the greatest cultural and philosophical
centers of the world, making it comparable to a visit to Boston or Oxford (Mare 196). Though its
glory has gradually faded since its founding, the city retains its beauty. Certainly the lush, green trees
and the rocky outcrops in the city would be attractive to you. But what draws your focus the most is
the brilliant architecture of the city s buildings. Several temples dot the landscape, two of which
demand your attention: the Hephaesteum, a building dedicated to the god Hephaestus (or Vulcan), and
the Parthenon, a building dedicated to Athena (Arnold 384). The former enlightens the entrance of the
city, while the latter stands atop the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people who whisked Paul from Berea took him to Athens, and that is where we find him in the
situation we formerly described (Acts 17:15). Upon arriving in Athens, we see Paul finding the
idolatry of Athens disturbing as we did (Acts 17:16). Paul undoubtedly traveled around the city, but
the idols he saw deeply troubled him. Luke states that Paul was provoked, or stirred as the King James
Version renders it, in his spirit. This stirring was directly caused by the idolatry. But what does it mean
to provoke someone s spirit? We tend to view provocation as negative, because when someone is
provoked, he is angry, and that is usually bad news for us. We should not view the provocation of Paul
negatively; rather, we should view it as honest anger (Kittel 5: 856). Though the same author who
provides this viewpoint does not believe the provocation drove Paul to preach, the text indicates
otherwise. The very next verse informs us that he reasoned in the synagogues and in the marketplaces
as a result of what he saw (Acts 17:17). Paul s preaching, caused by the provocation we just discussed,
afforded him incredible opportunities. He discussed Christ with the Jews, the Gentile worshipers, the
frequenters of the marketplace, and even some philosophers (Acts 17:17 18). Though many of the

I stepped of the St. Louis version of the subway and found my way to the platform. Résumé, class

woman, who introduced herself as my research supervisor, Melisa Moore, who has become a close
friend and mentor to me in education and research. Starting on the first day, I began to realize the joy

which obese individuals that do not normally consume non nutritive sweeteners, such as sucralose,

study is intended to ascertain information pertaining to the generalizability of this phenomena (i.e.,
whether most or all individuals with limited exposure to non nutritive sweeteners exhibit this
response) and the mechanism by which this phenomenon occurs. My role in the NNS study began by
considering a list of potential participants and removing those who would not qualify. Thus, the data

potential participants, my supervisor asked that I perform phone screens of those that passed the initial

Comparing Nineteen Eighty-Four and Utopia
Parallels in Nineteen Eighty Four and Utopia
Literature is a mirror of life. In order to reflect their views on the problems in society, many authors of
fiction, including Sir Thomas More of Utopia and George Orwell of Nineteen Eighty Four, use
parallels in character, setting, government, and society to link their works to the real world.
Characters are the appendages of a literary work, without well rounded characters, a novel is not
complete. In many situations, authors use certain distinguishing features of a well known figure in
society to shape the character in their works. These realistic characters are the work s link to the
outside world. In the book Utopia, Thomas More presents himself as a character the ... Show more

The London presented in 1984 is a ruin with the reminders of constant warfare. There are half torn
buildings everywhere, and people live in horrid conditions, lacking in a steady electricity supply,
rations, and running water. The London Orwell portrays is for the most part the naturalistically
presented city during the Second World War and the years immediately afterward (Brown 92). In
1948, merely three years after the end of the Second World War, London was a torn down city as a
result of years of endless bombing and warfare. Perhaps Orwell saw this fact and wanted to include
the dreadfulness of warfare in his novel.
Warfare, consequently, is the wrongdoing of the government. As Thomas Paine once wrote,
Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. To
reflect the political ideas of themselves, authors often incorporate into their works a style of
government that dominates in the story.
In More s Utopia, the government is a democracy, where the citizens elect the syphogrant of their
district. The syphogrants are comparable to the Members of Parliament who represent the public in
England. The syphogrants then elect two hundred tranibors , a higher level of authority, and the
tranibors elect the prince, the mayor of a city. The representatives of higher positions such as the
tranibors and the prince, however,

The Effects Of Climate Change On The Earth Essay
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...and see if I could not learn what it had to
teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived (Thoreau, 66). In two decades of life, I
have struggled to find anything superior to a forest path for the endeavor of self reflection and growth.
I have been awestruck at the vastness of the Blue Ridge mountains and entranced by the moon s gentle
glow permeating a midnight canopy. Although I treasure these sublime experiences, they do not
motivate me to advocate for a sustainable society. Climate change is a byproduct of humanity s
unprecedented impact on the planet and it threatens the sublime natural spaces that many
environmentalists hold dear. With the impending threats of sea level rise, super storms, food shortages,
and extinction, environmentalists must find a new course of action. If the worst manifestations of
climate change are to be prevented, the movement must more effectively engage the public and
facilitate a reduction of carbon emissions and material waste. At the root of this issue lies
environmentalism s failure to embrace a single conception of nature. As the movement lacks a
consensus on nature, it has no uniformity of rhetoric or singular goal. Some environmentalists wish to
preserve sublime wilderness, others fight to prevent ecological collapse, while still others wish simply
to save nature. Whatever their motives for participation, environmentalists must unify behind one
conception

Family Should Be Best Friends
I have always been told that the siblings or sibling in a family should be best friends. As I was
growing up with an older brother, things were not always like that in my house. It was hard for me to
see my friends hanging out and going to lunch with their older siblings because I never had that
relationship with my older brother, Zack. Zack was different. He had a lot going on with his life so
when he wouldn t talk to me or blow me off, I would just shake it off and pretend that eventually he
would become that fun, older brother we all see in movies. Then I finally realized, nothing would
change. I was devastated to never have that relationship with my brother because I didn t understand
why he never wanted to be with me. What have I done wrong? Am I really that annoying as a little
sister? That was until my mother informed on what was going on with Zack. He had severe social and
anger issues which caused him to be jealous of me because of all my friends that I had, leading him to
be mean and angry with me all the time because of his anger issues. I felt awful for my poor big
brother. He doesn t deserve this, I would think to myself at night. These thoughts and feelings went on
until the summer of 2015, when everything changed. In the period of time from when I pretended like
nothing was wrong with my brother to when I found out, I focused a lot on my friends. I made so
many close friends who I considered to be siblings more than Zack. It was like I had 15 unrelated

Technological Developments Moving eight miles a minute for most of the time , while these are lyrics
to a song by Bob Seger, these words could describe a package s experience being shipped by one of
today s leading package delivery companies. How these companies have used technology to improve

While not every web tracking request would have resulted in a customer service call, the call volume
and associated costs have been decreased by 80% (Hayter, 2002).
FedEx
The second package delivery company identified is FedEx. This company originated in 1971 as
Federal Express Corp., a small delivery firm with a fleet of 14 small aircraft located in Memphis,
Tennessee. This company quickly grew and in 1994 adopted FedEx as its primary brand. Originally
called FDX Corp., FedEx Corp. was formed in January 1998 with the acquisition of Caliber System
Inc. (FedEx, 2005). From the first day a customer used overnight delivery, FedEx has been at the
leading edge of change.
We ve pioneered packaging and systems technologies and trade routes. We ve enabled new ways of
working and new business models. We ve closed the gap between virtual and physical worlds. All for
one reason – to give people access to the goods, information and markets that make their growing
expectations possible (FedEx).
This type of innovation has made FedEx a leader in the package delivery industry. One of the best
practices used by FedEx is the use of electronic tools. The company offers a wide range of electronic
tools, online interfaces, and applications that a customer can use to make shipping packages easier. By
integrating these tools, customers reduce inventory costs and

Faith In Young Goodman Brown
In the story Young Goodman Brown, Nathaniel Hawthorne fills the plot with suspense and mystery
that keeps the reader focused on the main question. What does the devil worship in the forest, the loss
of Goodman Brown s faith, and the hidden lives of the characters actually mean? Hawthorne uses
symbolism to present to the reader that a strong faith is the greatest virtue a man or woman, who
regardless how good they are, can have; and when that faith is lost or lessened, as Michael Tritt agrees
in Young Goodman Brown and the Psychology of Projection, it can have detrimental and cynical
effects on a person that can cloud their view of society.

The first interaction Goodman Brown has when he returns to Salem is with the good old minister. The
minister bestowed a blessing on Goodman Brown which he shrank from the venerable saint, as if to
avoid an anathema. (270) Brown feels that the minister is trying to curse him instead of blessing him.
This is a sign of doubt Goodman Brown has towards his peers. Perhaps the minister was trying to
bless him because Goodman Brown was already cursed; Brown is oblivious to his own evil. Agreeing
with Michael Tritt in Young Goodman Brown and the Psychology of Projection, he writes about how
the forest experience showed the evil of his neighbors, it also depicted his own evil. Tritt uses the
instance where Goody Cloyse, that excellent old Christian, stood in the early sunshine, at her own
lattice, catechizing a little girl, who had brought her a pint of morning s milk. Goodman Brown
snatched away the child, as from the grasp of the fiend himself. Tritt questions, How can we explain
this action? Why would he snatch the child from one fiend to yield her to yet another, namely himself?
Brown believes that he is not evil or maybe less evil than others in the community to do such a thing.
Towards the end of the story, Hawthorne writes of Goodman Brown s experience at church and how
Goodman Brown turned pale, dreading, lest the roof should thunder down upon the gray blasphemer
and his hearers. (271) Although this proves that Goodman Brown s faith still remained, he did not hold
church service with high esteem but, rather worthless. His spitefulness towards society and disregard
for his own evils left him an empty man that merely existed for a long

Diverse Personal Encounters With Non State Armed Actors
Diverse personal encounters with non state armed actors animate my research agenda, and I seek to
discern the meaning of a picture formed by pieces of a puzzle collected during my years of military
service. As a peacekeeper in Kosovo, I witnessed how a random rifle shot could spark a series of
reprisals across invisible lines that separated villages. My soldiers and I were almost powerless to stop
them. On one hand, our legal mandate prevented our ability to take direct action. One the other, we
understood so little about our adversaries we did not fully know which action to take. Subsequent
experiences leading soldiers during counterinsurgency efforts in both Iraq and Afghanistan immersed
me again in the turmoil created by overlapping networks of non state armed groups competing for
economic, social, and political power. Each incident revealed another piece of the puzzle, but the
picture it formed remained unclear. I started to wonder if the pieces actually fit, or if I was putting
them together incorrectly. I intuitively sensed the ascendant role of non state armed actors in Kosovo.
However, my experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan crystalized in me the desire to explore the broader
political and social ramifications of the rising influence of non state armed groups. I began to ponder
the strategic impact of their decisions and actions on the long term evolution of political institutions.
What are the consequences when local political elites try to incorporate

most rewarding because of the great responsibility entrusted to us. We have the opportunity mould the

When I think of planting seeds, I am often reminded of the story of the boy on a beach. An old man

The World And Battle Of Gods Essay
Each historian or story teller, like EnumaElish, Hesiod, and Confucius, has his own understanding of
history due to the subjects that they focus on, type of evidence, and reliability of their evidence. These
historians are from different civilizations, so each one of text might be based on dissimilar life style
that they lived. All of the historians have some specific topics to talk about, like culture and war. Also,
having strong evidence will make their text much reliable, and people can use their texts and telling
their children about the history of their region. As an example of this situation, because my father was
a Peshmarga at 1990s, he told us how much Kurdish people suffered from Saddam Husain s regime.
First, each historian has different topics of the history to write about. To give an example,EnumaElish
was a Mesopotamian myth, specifically from Babylon. EnumaElish was a very old myth that focused
on the creation of the world and battle of gods. The gods were Tiamat and Apsu. They were husband
and wife, so they gave birth to this generation which is us. According to the points of view of this
author, there had not been humans created yet. In other words, there were only gods which gave birth
to this generation. When they created humans, they made humans to serve them and obey their laws.In
a comparison, in the ancient Greek, we are used to hear how much their gods meant to the Greek
people. This rule does not apply to the text of Hesiod. Hesiod concentrated

Polar Bear Environmental Impact
Throughout history, humans have modified their environment to suit their needs, such as housing,
agriculture, and industry, but we are now seeing major changes to the environment on a scale not
witnessed before. The greenhouse effect has run rampant through man s use of fossil fuels and is
causing major changes to the planet, many unseen by people not directly affected. Human overuse of
dirty energies that produce CO2 has led to shrinking Arctic ice and warmer temperatures that cause
disruption for the animals and people who live there. Glaciers, in places such as Iceland and Canada,
and the Arctic ice sheet are melting, breeding seasons are changing, and people and animals are being

The frequency of long distance swims in the polar bear population is increasing, beginning in late
spring as the sea ice starts melting, when the bears migrate from the sea ice to land or offshore pack
ice (Pilfold et. al. 2017). Warmer temperatures are causing ice to become much thinner and more
mobile. Instead of walking on a consolidated sea ice surface, polar bears may be forced to undertake
long distance swims to complete their migratory route (Pilfold et. al. :190, 2017). Since polar bears are
not pack animals, the effects of climate change on migratory behavior can vary greatly between
individual, and, therefore, this study compares male and female adults and male and female subadults.
Subadults of both sexes swam as much as an adult female did, but adult females with cubs were less
likely to swim than the other age classes (Pilfold et. al. 2017). The swims are also made in correlation
to the ice; there is a positive relation in the distance of the ice from land and the rate in which it
retreated with the frequency of swims. Most swims were made before the ice had reached its
minimum, and when it expands again, the bears track its movement toward the continental shelf

  • 2. Rhetorical Analysis Of Invictus Invictus Rhetorical Analysis Essay A time of difficulties always comes and goes and it has always been known to stay strong during those times. This, in many ways, connects to countless people, including great writers who often describe their difficult times through acting or other forms of writing. William Ernest Henley was an author who used his challenges to write a poem. This was a dramatic but motivational poem that heavily used rhetorical devices to describe how he managed through his darkest times. William Ernest Henley took use of personification, connotation, and alliteration in the poem Invictus to prove that anyone can overcome obstacles by staying strong and believing in themselves. For a start, Henley gave human like characteristics to words so he could, in a way, visually show that the mind should always remain strong in difficult times by using personification. He dramatically describes that sometimes not everything goes accordingly as he says, In the fell clutch of circumstance (5). Here, the author makes circumstance seem evil or bad. The action that he characterized circumstance of doing expresses that challenges can come at the worst times. Even more, he is describing that circumstance has a fell clutch implying that he went through a horribly long and dark period. This gives the reader a perspective that occasionally things do not always go their way. It connects to the theme that difficult times are always thrown at one s way and that they may not always be prepared for the challenging part of those times. Henley took advantage of personification once again to relate to his theme. Henley shows his courage through his dark times by saying, And yet the menace of the years/Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. (11 12) Here, Henley makes the word year seem mean or cruel. He does this by describing that it is a menace otherwise implying that it is harsh or cruel. By including that it searches for him, he also indicates that he ran into difficult times often, but stays optimistic by saying that it found him unafraid. This makes the reader aware that even though challenges always come up, they should always be courageous, just like he was. Henley writes that he stayed positive during ... Wow thought Jenna, I wondered If I would ever hear from you again. Jenna and Nikki had met at university over 10 years ago and as friends had almost been inseparable. It was a friendship that on one occasion it nearly became something more. The silence between the two had been almost deafening before routine and the normal order of the day took over. In the conclusion of his essay On Dumpster Diving, Eighner makes it clear that he believes excess material objects are unnecessary and that they do more harm than good for a person, and this is true. Eighner accurately describes how having large amounts of material goods does nothing to improve the well being or morality of the human race because holding onto physical possessions leads to the development of bad habits and traits within society. Having more material possessions makes people less grateful for what they have and more likely to be wasteful. In his essay, Eighner describes how college students throw out many good things, including food. Because the students are accustomed to having so many material possessions, they do not think twice before throwing a portion of it into the dumpster. On the other hand, Eighner thinks of himself as very non materialistic, so he only takes what he needs and is not wasteful because he does not have many remains or unused items to throw away. Famous for its use of rhyming slang and unique linguistics, the Cockney accent, and the history associated with it, is a source of pride to many living in London s East End. The traditional definition of a cockney is one who was born within the sound of St. Mary le Bow Church bells, though, an accent typical of working class Londoner suffices as well (Mott 71). Despite the accent s century long history being tied to the working class of London s East End, there is now a large shift in the region s dialect. A large influx of immigration has occurred in the East End, and the result is the slow emergence of a new accent. Sociolinguistics Dr. Sue Fox refers to it as Multicultural London English, and describes the accent as one of Jamaican, Indian subcontinent and West African English (Hayes). With the emergence of the new accent, the notorious rhyming slang is disappearing, and certain traditional Cockney inflections are becoming less frequent. While the accent is not completely lost due to native speakers carrying it with them as they migrate from the East End, the research as it currently stands, suggests the accent s future is one of continued decline. In the second section of the novel, Pi s transition into a man and how he brings out the animal in him is what basically gets him and Richard Parker to survive for so long and not die. The people who whisked Paul from Berea took him to Athens, and that is where we find him in the situation we formerly described (Acts 17:15). Upon arriving in Athens, we see Paul finding the idolatry of Athens disturbing as we did (Acts 17:16). Paul undoubtedly traveled around the city, but the idols he saw deeply troubled him. Luke states that Paul was provoked, or stirred as the King James Version renders it, in his spirit. This stirring was directly caused by the idolatry. But what does it mean to provoke someone s spirit? We tend to view provocation as negative, because when someone is provoked, he is angry, and that is usually bad news for us. We should not view the provocation of Paul negatively; rather, we should view it as honest anger (Kittel 5: 856). Though the same author who provides this viewpoint does not believe the provocation drove Paul to preach, the text indicates otherwise. The very next verse informs us that he reasoned in the synagogues and in the marketplaces as a result of what he saw (Acts 17:17). Paul s preaching, caused by the provocation we just discussed, afforded him incredible opportunities. He discussed Christ with the Jews, the Gentile worshipers, the frequenters of the marketplace, and even some philosophers (Acts 17:17 18). Though many of the individuals in the last group labeled ... In order to reflect their views on the problems in society, many authors of fiction, including Sir Thomas More of Utopia and George Orwell of Nineteen Eighty Four, use parallels in character, setting, government, and society to link their works to the real world. Characters are the appendages of a literary work, without well rounded characters, a novel is not complete. The London presented in 1984 is a ruin with the reminders of constant warfare. There are half torn buildings everywhere, and people live in horrid conditions, lacking in a steady electricity supply, rations, and running water. The London Orwell portrays is for the most part the naturalistically presented city during the Second World War and the years immediately afterward (Brown 92). In 1948, merely three years after the end of the Second World War, London was a torn down city as a result of years of endless bombing and warfare. Perhaps Orwell saw this fact and wanted to include the dreadfulness of warfare in his novel. Warfare, consequently, is the wrongdoing of the government. As Thomas Paine once wrote, Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. The Effects Of Climate Change On The Earth Essay I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived (Thoreau, 66). In two decades of life, I have struggled to find anything superior to a forest path for the endeavor of self reflection and growth. I have been awestruck at the vastness of the Blue Ridge mountains and entranced by the moon s gentle glow permeating a midnight canopy. Although I treasure these sublime experiences, they do not motivate me to advocate for a sustainable society. Climate change is a byproduct of humanity s unprecedented impact on the planet and it threatens the sublime natural spaces that many environmentalists hold dear. With the impending threats of sea level rise, super storms, food shortages, and extinction, environmentalists must find a new course of action. If the worst manifestations of climate change are to be prevented, the movement must more effectively engage the public and facilitate a reduction of carbon emissions and material waste. At the root of this issue lies environmentalism s failure to embrace a single conception of nature. As the movement lacks a consensus on nature, it has no uniformity of rhetoric or singular goal. Some environmentalists wish to preserve sublime wilderness, others fight to prevent ecological collapse, while still others wish simply to save nature. What does the devil worship in the forest, the loss of Goodman Brown s faith, and the hidden lives of the characters actually mean? Hawthorne uses symbolism to present to the reader that a strong faith is the greatest virtue a man or woman, who regardless how good they are, can have; and when that faith is lost or lessened, as Michael Tritt agrees in Young Goodman Brown and the Psychology of Projection, it can have detrimental and cynical effects on a person that can cloud their view of society. The first interaction Goodman Brown has when he returns to Salem is with the good old minister. The minister bestowed a blessing on Goodman Brown which he shrank from the venerable saint, as if to avoid an anathema. (270) Brown feels that the minister is trying to curse him instead of blessing him. This is a sign of doubt Goodman Brown has towards his peers. Perhaps the minister was trying to bless him because Goodman Brown was already cursed; Brown is oblivious to his own evil. Agreeing with Michael Tritt in Young Goodman Brown and the Psychology of Projection, he writes about how the forest experience showed the evil of his neighbors, it also depicted his own evil. Tritt uses the instance where Goody Cloyse, that excellent old Christian, stood in the early sunshine, at her own lattice, catechizing a little girl, who had brought her a pint of morning s milk. Goodman Brown snatched away the child, as from the grasp of the fiend himself. Tritt questions, How can we explain this action? Why would he snatch the child from one fiend to yield her to yet another, namely himself? Brown believes that he is not evil or maybe less evil than others in the community to do such a thing. Towards the end of the story, Hawthorne writes of Goodman Brown s experience at church and how Goodman Brown turned pale, dreading, lest the roof should thunder down upon the gray blasphemer and his hearers. Diverse Personal Encounters With Non State Armed Actors Diverse personal encounters with non state armed actors animate my research agenda, and I seek to discern the meaning of a picture formed by pieces of a puzzle collected during my years of military service. As a peacekeeper in Kosovo, I witnessed how a random rifle shot could spark a series of reprisals across invisible lines that separated villages. My soldiers and I were almost powerless to stop them. On one hand, our legal mandate prevented our ability to take direct action. One the other, we understood so little about our adversaries we did not fully know which action to take. Subsequent experiences leading soldiers during counterinsurgency efforts in both Iraq and Afghanistan immersed me again in the turmoil created by overlapping networks of non state armed groups competing for economic, social, and political power. Each incident revealed another piece of the puzzle, but the picture it formed remained unclear. I started to wonder if the pieces actually fit, or if I was putting them together incorrectly. I intuitively sensed the ascendant role of non state armed actors in Kosovo. We have the opportunity mould the lives of our future leaders, plant seeds of hope in the hopeless, and inspire a generation of innovators. One by one, he tossed each starfish back into the open arms of the sea. The old man, jaded by the world, approached the boy and asked why he would even bother. It didn t matter! All of the historians have some specific topics to talk about, like culture and war. Also, having strong evidence will make their text much reliable, and people can use their texts and telling their children about the history of their region. First, each historian has different topics of the history to write about. To give an example,EnumaElish was a Mesopotamian myth, specifically from Babylon. EnumaElish was a very old myth that focused on the creation of the world and battle of gods. The gods were Tiamat and Apsu. They were husband and wife, so they gave birth to this generation which is us. According to the points of view of this author, there had not been humans created yet. In other words, there were only gods which gave birth to this generation. • 36. Polar Bear Environmental Impact Throughout history, humans have modified their environment to suit their needs, such as housing, agriculture, and industry, but we are now seeing major changes to the environment on a scale not witnessed before. The greenhouse effect has run rampant through man s use of fossil fuels and is causing major changes to the planet, many unseen by people not directly affected. Human overuse of dirty energies that produce CO2 has led to shrinking Arctic ice and warmer temperatures that cause disruption for the animals and people who live there. Glaciers, in places such as Iceland and Canada, and the Arctic ice sheet are melting, breeding seasons are changing, and people and animals are being displaced (Greene et. al., 2008). Some changes have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The frequency of long distance swims in the polar bear population is increasing, beginning in late spring as the sea ice starts melting, when the bears migrate from the sea ice to land or offshore pack ice (Pilfold et. al. 2017). Warmer temperatures are causing ice to become much thinner and more mobile. Instead of walking on a consolidated sea ice surface, polar bears may be forced to undertake long distance swims to complete their migratory route (Pilfold et. al. :190, 2017). Since polar bears are not pack animals, the effects of climate change on migratory behavior can vary greatly between individual, and, therefore, this study compares male and female adults and male and female subadults. Subadults of both sexes swam as much as an adult female did, but adult females with cubs were less likely to swim than the other age classes (Pilfold et. al. 2017). The swims are also made in correlation to the ice; there is a positive relation in the distance of the ice from land and the rate in which it retreated with the frequency of swims. Most swims were made before the ice had reached its minimum, and when it expands again, the bears track its movement toward the continental shelf (Pilfold et. al. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
