The Separation Of Family
his statement, he admits that No respect was shown... Indeed no respect was shown. Separating
families for the desire of money may be looked at as corrupt. No shame was brought to those
capturing and destroying family bonds. Instead, the ones in shame were the ones in captive. Going
further into the late 1700 s and early 1800 s, Separation of family continued. A young boy by the name
of Frederick Douglass did not have the constant love and warmth of a mother throughout his
developing life. At the time, captive African were now slaves. Slaves were expected to work hard and
long hours each day or physical punishments may happen. Due to Douglas s mother being sold away
to another plantation, She made her journeys to see me in the night, traveling

By comparing Girl with a Mandolin (1910) (Figure 1) by Pablo Picasso (1881 1973) and Georges
Braque (1882 963) s Man with a Guitar (1912) (Figure 2), this paper will demonstrate that both artists
used the same subject matter (analytical cubist) and employed a similarly repetitive process they
convey two different ideas; no means totally devoid of realism in Picasso and comforting exploration
in Braque.
Girl with a Mandolin, this work depicts a naked girl holds a mandolin, and her head turns to the left
and presents the right side of face to the viewer, but the rest of her body is directly facing the viewer.
She looks down at the front of the mandolin and seems to be playing. Pablo Picasso uses different

Importance Of Being Thankful For
September 11, 2001 was a very traumatic day. After watching Flight 93, I realized that there are so
many things in this world to be thankful for. We never know when the last time you see someone,
really is going to be the last time. Death is unexpected and it s crazy how fast something can be taken
from us. That s why I am constantly reminding myself that there are more than enough things to be
thankful for. I am thankful for all of the men and women who risk their lives to protect us, for the
education and privileges that we have that other countries don t offer, and most of all, I am the most
thankful for my family and every one of my friends. Not many people thank the men and women who
protect us, our country, and our rights. Those people

The Frente Sandinista De Liberación Nacional (Fsln), Or
The Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional (FSLN), or the Sandinista National Liberation Front,
came to power in Nicaragua in 1979 after ousting Anatasio Somoza and putting an end to his family s
thirty six year dictatorship. Prior to the revolution that lead to their rise in power, the Sandinista
National Liberation Front promised to implement several developmental policies that would raise the
living standards of their fellow citizens. I previously argued that development is both a natural and
man made phenomenon which aims to positively shape the lives of people via economic, cultural, and
educational reform. By this definition the policies carried out by the Sandinistas, which sought to
improve the lives of their fellow citizens, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nicaraguans also faced a life expectancy of fifty three years and routinely died from illnesses that
could have easily been treated and monitored. Half of the population was illiterate and thirty percent
of the nation s income went to five percent of the population whilst fifteen percent was spread across
fifty percent. These were just a few of the conditions which prompted the Sandinista s into action and
would eventually determine their political promises and platform. The developmental programs and
policies they enacted were directly in response to these facts and were meant to improve the lives of
their nation s poorest people. Prior to coming to power, the Sandinistas promised large scale agrarian
reform and land redistribution. Agrarian reform as a national development project was meant to raise
the living standards of landless peasant farmers and provide them with the opportunity to cultivate
food for consumption and sale. The rural bourgeoisie owned around eighty five percent of the nation s
farmland and comprised just five percent of the agricultural economically active population (EAP).
Peasant farmers, on the other hand, made up fifty eight percent of the agricultural EAP and owned the
remaining fifteen percent of the land. Landless laborers, the main group for whom the Sandinistas had
promised reform, made up the remaining thirty seven percent of the agriculturally active population.

Greenbush Vs. Burke Heights
Greenbush vs. Burke Heights
This report will be on the research I have discovered first hand as well as through statistical data that
compares and contrasts the neighborhoods of Greenbush and Burke Heights, both located in Madison,
Wisconsin. When researching these two neighborhoods, I focused on the neighborhoods housing
statistics, demographics of their residents, and the money circulating within the neighborhoods.
Another aspect I paid attention to while comparing the neighborhoods was the economic and
employment opportunities available within the communities. These benefits directly correlate to the
amount of capital that is available for residents. Lastly, I took note of the entertainment, retail, and
physical possibilities that prevailed in these neighborhoods.
The first subject I will compare is the housing within each neighborhood. First, in the Greenbush
neighborhood, the majority of people are either college students or young adults between the ages of
twenty and thirty two. It was obvious this age group lived in these homes seeing the décor on the front
porches and the cars in the driveways. The average household income ranges between seventy and
eighty five thousand dollars per year (StatisticalAtlas). Just walking down the street I noticed most of
the lots are designated for either college students, expensive residential homes, or parks with green
spaces. The neighborhoods average price for a normal sized home would range between three hundred

Development of the New United States
Development of the Country
When the American colonist first immigrated to the new world they were promised new wealth greater
than they had ever imagined. But for the common man freedom of religion and speech were the
catalyst sources for colonizing. Once there they had to set up a stable government and build from the
bottom. They eventually turned it into a more prosperous civilization and a larger mass of people
followed them over and set up a stable government. Eyeing the profit to be made the English started to
tax heavily implementing the Stamp act as a well the Coercive acts(Intolerable Acts). With the
colonist s money going to the British government and the colonist not having any say in how they
were represented felt left out of the government and decided that could form their own and do a better
job governing. After years of war they received their independence and struggled to form a cohesive
government, so logically people split up into different groups. There was the federalist headed by
Alexander Hamilton and the anti federalist led by Thomas Jefferson. There were two antithesis views
on how the government should be run, hence the promotion of the newly formed political parties
headed by two political powerhouses with out them the government could turn into a dictatorship.

The Movie Night And Boys Don t Cry
The novel Night by Elie Wiesel is a book that can be compared to many media or textual forms, such
as novel, short stories, comics, etc., but the most suitable comparative media form was a film . The
film is a visual presentation of fictional or nonfictional story that gets the audiences a sense of the
emotional trauma. The film, which complemented Night by Elie Wiesel by the similarity of themes,
but a totally different plot was the film titled, Boys Don t Cry Directed by: Kimberly Peirce. Both the
book and Film have the great essence of to begin with, Dehumanization human tend to physically,
emotionally or sexually torture another human being, followed by, the instinctual struggle to survive
how people have overcome many hurdles of life to get a point or SURVIVAL , and finally, Denial of
self when one try to deny deny or restrain their personality or they lost their own identity. Therefore, it
can be very well agreed to the fact that both the book Night, and the FILM, Boys Don t Cry share a
similar trauma which detriment the human behavior.
To begin with, Night and Boys Don t Cry share theme of dehumanization in many ways. At night,
Violence is key term or the most of the book contains this. For example, publicly threatening people to
maintain control. For instance, members of the resistance in the concentration camps are public and
gruesomely hanged as a warning to the upcoming consequences. The application of different type

the community and the government. The bank has helped families for many years such as the

Freud Mental Illness
The history of mental illness in the United States as for other parts of the world is ever changing.
Mental illness have been seen as insanity, source of sorcery, treated through the church, seen as
genetic based etc. through the centuries. For example, due to the belief that mental illness was caused
by evil spirit during the stone age, the cure was trepanation (History of mental illness lecture). We no
longer see the use of trepanation because over time, knowledge of mental illness has evolved. In the
twentieth century, there were three revolutions in the United States that initiated highly influential
patterns of treatment for the mentally ill: psychoanalysis and the theories of Sigmund Freud, the

psychologists has achieved their own work to better the field. However, I believe that the use of
psychoactive drugs will remain the most significant throughout the twenty first century. I say this
because, our generation has become quite dependent on drugs. For example, according to a
publication in the Journal of the American Medical Association, 59 percent of all U.S. adults are
currently on at least one prescription drug, and 15 percent of all U.S. adults are on at least five
prescription drugs (Snyder 2016).Futhermore,we find over the counter medicine, there are numerous
painkillers available on the market, and most of all as we evolve, scientist will eventually find a way
to better than and lessen the negative effects that comes with them. We live in a society were money
and time is of importance and in my opinion, psychoactive drugs is the most cost effective and fastest
method to deal with mental illness; Because of that, with work, it has the most potential of remaining

Roman Empire Dbq Essay
The Roman Empire was once one of the most powerful empires in the world, but still to this day we
ask, how did the empire end? Romans built their territory to be the best. They expanded their land
across regions, had all the power, a large population, and technological innovations; so how could
such a great empire end? Rome was once at it s peak but was destined to fall due to political
instability, overconfidence, negligence, and barbarian attacks.
If the United States had six different presidents every year, our nation would be unstable. According to
Document A, in 30 years Rome had 22 different emperors; only two died of natural deaths. The
Roman Empire had frequent change in leadership. An example is, from 238 244 BC there were five
different emperors in a year, Gordian 1 2, Balbinus and Pupienus, and Gordian 3 (Document A). To
barbarians, or people outside of Rome, this sent a message of weakness; which meant they were losing
power. The desiration to become a ruler ceased, as there were many assassinations. It was dangerous
to be an emperor at this time because there was minimal protection from the military and army. ...

began to seem heavy since the soldiers rarely wore it. Overconfident, the soldiers were unprotected
during times of war leaving Rome with little defense. Also, people such as clergymen, senators,
bureaucrats, cooks, chefs, and slaves were exempted from joining the army, leaving a small group of
people to defend their empire from foreign invaders (Document

Reflective Beliefs Of AquinasTeaching On The Eucharist
Aquinas teaching on the Eucharist has offered many new and distinctive insights to me. One of these
insights is when Aquinas asks the question whether one should distinguish the two ways of eating
Christ s body. The two ways are spiritually and sacramentally. His opponents argue there is no need to
and I thought the same as well, because eating the bread and drinking the wine would encompass both.
However, after reading Aquinas I answer , it became clear to me that there is a twofold division
between the sacrament itself and the effect of it. An example my professor gave is if a mouse ate some
bread and wine. The mouse is not mindful and because of that, it only participated in the physical
aspect of the Eucharist, but not with its effect. You must be mindful to appreciate the symbols of bread
and wine or there will be more harm than good if you are not attentive of what God is doing. A quote
from Aquinas that helped me understand this better is when he says, but the sacramental eating that
does not secure the effect is contrasted with spiritual eating, just as the imperfect, which does not
attain perfection of its species, is contrasted with the perfect (ST 3.80.1). What he means by this is that
just by merely participating in the sacrament alone without the effect is like doing something in an
imperfect way. The perfect way of doing this is by complete eating, which is receiving both the visible
and invisible effects. Aquinas also offers some strong arguments against

Summary Of Breaking The Law By Frank Trippett
Everyday there are people in the world who are breaking a law, either it is loitering, speeding, making
prohibited turns on the roads with cars, running a red light, or smugglers. Law breakers appear a lot
more often which includes people who regularly obey the laws. Frank Trippett, in his passage states
that social order is awfully unstable when regular law obeying citizens end up disobeying the laws. He
claims that these law breakers and citizens who were once law abiding citizens are either breaking
laws involving taxes or simple laws like speeding. Frank speaks in a worried tone that is intended for
audiences of people who often break the laws and ones who may intend to in the future. Breaking of
laws are prohibited and there are people who regularly break the laws, but it is problematic when ones
who regularly obey the laws end up being law breakers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Characteristics Of Beowulf
Beowulf: A True Christian Hero
A hero is someone who demonstrates acts of courage which is accompanied by a high moral character.
A Christian hero not only demonstrates these qualities, but they also stay true to the will of God and
demonstrate a sense of faith. This requires being selfless, obedient in faith, and most importantly
having tremendous courage. The character Beowulf, in the epic poem by the same name, presents all
these characteristics. Throughout the poem his character matures and ultimately becomes a better
leader, which makes these traits all the more present. Beowulf s quality of leadership and passion for
the well being of others truly defines a Christian hero. Exhibiting selflessness is a characteristics that
plays a great deal in how others perceive you. Beowulf was a type of leader that did not think twice
before helping those in need. In many cases he was willing to sacrifice himself for the better good of
his people, which is the ultimate act of selflessness. But in the very beginning, even before he was
king of his own land he exhibited his selfless nature. He did this by coming to the aid of Hrothgar, the
king of the Danes. The following excerpt, Beowulf kindness is revealed, When he heard about
Grendel, Hygelac thane was on home ground, over i Gretland. There was no one else like him alive. In
his day, he was the mightiest man on earth, highborn and powerful. He ordered a boat that would ply
the waves. He announced his plan: to sail the swan s road and seek out that king, the famous prince
who needed defenders. Nobody tried to keep him from going, no elder denied him,der as he was to
them. (Beowulf; lines 194 203). Beowulf went on to defeat of grendel and his mother, two monsters
ploughing Hrothgar and his people. This act gained him respect his selfless act blossomed into the
blessing of him one day becoming a king himself. Beowulf did not have to come to the aid of the king
but did so anyway. He, from the beginning, wanted to help anyone in need, no one could or would
stop him from accomplishing this goal. He sacrifice his life for the wellbeing of people who were in a
neighboring country, it goes to say that he would obviously seek to go beyond that for his own.

Disadvantages Of Inflatable Kayak
A short list of common accessories would probably include such things as rod holders, tackle box
mountings and compartments, bait containers, and a wide variety of electronics such as fish finders,
GPS, cell phone holders, marine radios, air pumps for bait tanks and running lights. Obviously, it is
not advised to drill holes into an inflatable kayak! However, many enterprising DIY riggers have
found that a few plastic D rings and some duct tape will make a handy group of mounting and
attachment points on an inflatable kayak. One of the latest and greatest discoveries among self rigging

Their light weight not only makes taking them along on a hike a definite plus, but also makes a nice
difference in getting the kayak out of your vehicle and to the shoreline even when you are able to
drive right up to the launch. On average, an inflatable kayak will weigh about half that of a similar
sized rigid kayak. Even many tandem inflatable kayaks weight less than single rigid kayaks. There is
no need for a trailer or roof rack, since they easily will fit into the trunk of even a compact car, or into
the back seat. This ability to fit into a small space adds another big benefit, storage of your kayak in
the off season. While storing your rigid kayak in the winter months usually means either having
sufficient garage space, a storage building, or an outside rack or cradle of some kind, a deflated kayak
will usually need no more storage space than that of a cooler. Finally there is the price consideration.
Inflatable kayaks are generally about half the cost of a similar sized rigid model. The additional
savings of not having to also purchase a roof rack or trailer has influenced many fishermen to become
kayak fishermen when price is their main

The Federal Reserve System And Economic Development
The Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve System was created by Congress in 1913 and passed the Federal Reserve Act in
order to provide for a safer and more flexible banking and monetary system. According to the
changing needs of the system, its objectives have been changing throughout the history of the Fed. At
first, its original purposes were to give the country an elastic currency, provide facilities for
discounting commercial credits, and improve the supervision of the banking system under a
decentralized bank. (The Federal Reserve System, 1984, 1). Prior to its establishment (the Fed), the
supply of bank credit and money was inelastic, thus resulting in an irregular flow of credit and money,
and contributed to unstable economic development. These objectives were aspects economic policies
and national monetary. However, through time, stability and growth of the economy, high employment
levels, stability in the purchasing power of the dollar, and reasonable balance in transactions with
foreign currencies have become to be recognized as primary objectives of the governmental economic
policy.
The Fed is an independent central bank. Its decisions are not ratified by the president or any other
government institutions. However, the Fed has to report to the Congress. The book of the Federal
Reserve System (1984, 2) uses the term of independent within the government , since the Fed has to
work within the framework of the objectives of economic and financial policy

Night Reflection Paper
The Holocaust, lasting from 1933 to 1945, was a period of time when German Nazis sent Jews,
Gypsies, and others ostracized by the Nazis to concentration camps. They were sent to die, and in turn
the prisoners got their identity stripped from them. Elie Wiesel, a survivor of the Holocaust was 15
when his town was relocated to the camp Auschwitz. For 11 months, Elie moved from one camp to the
next, escaping Death with the skin of his teeth each time. After being liberated in April 1945, Elie
went on to write books about his experience, and to even win a Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. In Elie s
book Night, he writes about his identity being stripped from himself by the SS officers working in the
concentration camps. Right from the first few days at camp, Elie witnessed how SS officers decided
who got to live and die merely by the smallest discrepancy in their posture, whether it was a quivering
finger on the trigger, or the brisk flick of a baton, telling prisoners which side of a forked path to
follow; one leading to the crematorium. With his father, Elie met Dr. Mengele at the center of a
crossroad; he was holding a conductor s baton and was surrounded by officers. The baton was moving
constantly, sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left (Wiesel 31). Dr. Mengele got to choose life or
death of the prisoners merely by his own preference, making the prisoners seem nothing more than
play pretend dolls or wide eyed pigs on their way to the slaughterhouse. After being assigned

Budget Guidelines
Budget Overview
The budget is a financial plan for the university that quantifies the resource allocation plan for the next
three fiscal years. The budget process begins in early fall of each year to develop the budget for the
following fiscal year as well as projected budgets for the next 2 years. Budgeting at the unit level is a
decentralized process. Each unit is responsible for building its own budget. The allocation letter, in
addition to various other data collected at the unit level, is essential to completing this process. Central
administration distributes the allocation letter, which includes the assumptions and the initial
allocation amount. All units budgets are reviewed and compiled by the Budget and Financial Planning

Coordinate all tuition transfers with the organization that is forecasting the other side of the entry. This
will ensure that amounts will agree and balance across the university. When budgeting semester
tuition it should coincide with quarterly accounting deferrals. IC graduate tuition revenue from central
will be booked quarterly to the college and is based on the percentage of the semester completed.
Undergraduate aid should be budgeted to object code 75100 and graduate aid should be budgeted to
object code 75102.
Designated Operating
Designated funding sources include operating reserves, cost sharing, faculty discretionary funds,
internally funded projects, faculty development grants, SURG, affiliate programs, Technology
Transfer projects, unrestricted endowment, and capital reserves. Operating and capital reserves are
budgeted based on expected funding requirements for operations and capital. All other funding
sources are budgeted based on past experience and department knowledge of changes in operations
that will have an impact on the balances.
Designated Operating Budgeting Considerations
Use the income transfer surplus/deficit (72400) code to/from operating reserves, funding source
060000, to project the transfer of surpluses or deficits from other funding sources where balances are
required to equal $0. Cost Sharing, funding source

Antarctica Adaptation Essay
The evolutionary process where organisms develop certain traits or behaviours allowing them to
successfully live and thrive in their habitat, is called adaptation. Adaptive traits can range from
structural, behavioural, or physical traits, which are maintained and evolved by natural selection. In
my essay I will be focusing on how organisms adapt to living in frozen seas, which is the home to a
huge variety of different life forms that are highly adapted in their life history, ecology and physiology
to the harsh conditions of this environment. I will firstly be looking at both the Arctic Ocean and
Antarctica in more detail before exploring the different varieties of life that live there, and the adaptive
traits they have developed. Antarctica ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also examples of flora in their Antartica adapting to their surroundings, as plants and lichens
that live on ice free areas have special leaf structures that prevent loss of moisture, which is important
as there is a very small amount of moisture to be found in Antarctica. There are also certain fish in
both the Arctic and Antarctic that have antifreeze proteins which lower the freezing point of their
blood. These work by joining to tiny ice crystals that enter the circulatory system through the gills,
stopping the crystals from expanding. These proteins can also work on crystals that are ingested by the
fish as they swim. This is an example of chemical adaptation. Another example of adaptation is how
the Emperor penguin is able to conserve energy levels through a reduction in heart rate to 15% less
than its resting heart rate during deep dives. They are also able to save heat by reducing blood flow to
their extremities. They also show behavioural adaptation, as to help everyone stay warm, up to 6,000
male Emperor penguins can cluster together to conserve heat while they incubate their eggs, with
temperatures reaching 20ºC above ambient

Don T Judge A Book By Its Cover Analysis
Don t judge a book by it s cover. This is a famous saying, and it is used many times when you are
checking a book. But this saying also works for people. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee writes
about life in Maycomb, and how many characters has some rumors that affected them negatively.
Harper Lee also sends this message to the readers, that we can not judge people by their cover. We can
not judge them by either, race, rumors, etc. Boo Radley, Tom Robinson, and Dolphus Raymond all had
bad things said about them. Scout also sees that these people are truly not bad people. The theme is
that outward appearances is not always accurate. Boo Radley was an adult that was thought to believe
that he stabbed his dad in the leg with scissors when he was a teenager. Scout, Jem, and Dill always
feared him. The feared him so much, that they always cautioned whenever they crossed over to their
house. They even made a dare that involved braveness and Boo Radley. ¨Well how d you feel if you d
been shut up for a hundred years with nothin but cats to eat?¨ But Boo isn t is bad as he seems. First of
all, it was uncertain, whether he actually stabbed his dad or not. Number 2, he s been there for Scout.
For example, he put the blanket around Scout, during the house fire of one of Scout s neighbors. And
how he saved Scout and Jem from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But really, they have a inner soul that no one in Maycomb could see. They see the monster in Boo
Radley. How he stabbed his father, and hid in his house. How everyone in Maycomb thought Dolphus
Raymond was a drunk, but he was actually just acting drunk, so that no one will stand in his way. And
how Tom Robinson is innocent, but to the eyes of the jury, and many of the people of Maycomb,
thought he was guilty. Harper Lee shows us that outward appearances are not always what they seem,
and that we have to not judge them by their appearance or their

The Pennsylvania Fresh Food Financing Initiative is a public private partnership, created in 2004 by
the Pennsylvania state. It helped to create new supermarkets and refurbish or replace equipment at
existing stores. The eligible stores were located in a low income areas that were underserved, and to
eligible for funding they agree to provide a full selection of fresh foods. The partnership funded more
than 83 projects across Pennsylvania involving major national chains and smaller independent stores.
Over the years the project has resulted in the creation and retention of about 5,000 jobs and 1.4 million
square feet of retail space. Evidence from the program shows that adding more supermarkets with the
access to high quality fruit and vegetable in an undeserved areas result in improved availability and an
increased variety of foods in the community. It also shows that they are on the verge of reducing the

Frank Lloyd Wright Accomplishments
Frank Lloyd Wright, was a revolutionary in the field of Architecture, he designed more than 1,000
buildings 532 of them were completed before his death on April 9th, 1959. One of his most famous
works, was a building where he somehow managed to make a waterfall come out of a building. He
also started a style called Prarie school. This was most likely influenced by Spring Green, Wisconsin,
where in the summers he spent time as a child. He remarked, The modeling of the hills, the weaving
and fabric that clings to them, the look of it all in tender green or covered with snow or in full glow of
summer that bursts into the glorious blaze of autumn, I still feel myself as much a part of it as the trees
and birds and bees are, and the red barns, Although he created this style, the style he favored were
modern homes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the dean of the University of Wisconsin s engineering department. While working, he was studying to
become an architect. One of his greatest accomplishments, was being hired by Adler and Sullivan,
who were the founders of a very well known firm in Chicago. Mr. Wright built his first personal

Porsche Changes Tack Essay
Porsche Changes Tack
Yes, of course, we have heard of shareholder value. But that does not change the fact that we put
customers first, then workers, then business partners, suppliers and dealers, and then shareholders. Dr.
Wendelin Wiedeking, CEO, Porsche, Die Zeit, April 17, 2005.
Porsche had always been different. Statements by Porsche leadership, like the one above, always made
Veselina (Vesi) Dinova nervous about the company s attitude about creating shareholder value. The
company was a paradox. Porsche s attitudes and activities were like that of a family owned firm, but it
had succeeded in creating substantial shareholder value for more than a decade. Porsche s CEO, Dr.
Wendelin Wiedeking, had been credited with clarity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Efficiency is not really critical because the firm s financial goals are not exclusively shareholder
oriented since they are constrained by the other stakeholders. In any case, stakeholder capitalism
assumes that long term loyal shareholders typically, controlling shareholders rather than the transient
portfolio investor should influence corporate strategy. Although both philosophies have their strengths
and weaknesses, two trends in recent years have led to an increasing focus on shareholder wealth.
First, as more of the non Anglo American markets have increasingly privatized their industries, the
shareholder wealth focus is seemingly needed to attract international capital from outside investors,
many of whom are from other countries. Second, and still quite controversial, many analysts believe
that shareholder based multinationals are increasingly dominating their global industry segments.
Porsche AG
I know exactly what I want and what must happen. I am the real one. You can be sure. Dr. Wendelin
Wiedeking
Porsche AG was a publicly traded, closely held, German based auto manufacturer. Porsche s President
and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, had returned the company to both status and
profitability since taking over the company in 1993. Wiedeking s background was in production, and
many had questioned whether he was the right man for the job. Immediately after taking over Porsche,
he had killed the 928 and 968 model platforms to reduce

Cuban American Policy On Cuban Immigrants

Elian Gonzalez: Analyzing The Impact
As an illegal immigrant fleeing from Cuba, Elian Gonzalez came to the United States and caused a
large discussion over whether or not he would stay, which helped reform The United States policy on
Cuban immigrants. Cuban American policy is a very controversial subject. Elian Gonzalez s case
changed the United states. At the time many Cubans were coming to the United States and they were
allowed to stay because of a policy called the wet foot, dry foot policy which said that if Cubans
reached United States soil they would be allowed to stay but if they were found in the water they
would be deported. They were also coming because of the effect of the embargo.
People began migrating from Cuba after a man named Fidel Castro overthrew the previous dictator of
Cuba in 1959. Fidel Castro promised democratic policies but soon after taking control he began
making the government totalitarian and everyone who opposed him was imprisoned. Castro became
even more totalitarian and communist because he wanted complete control of Cuba. Because of this
relations between Cuba and the United States worsened. At one point Castro nationalized American
businesses without compensation. After this a complete embargo was put into effect. The embargo
caused there to be more poverty in Cuba. Cuba became more allied with the soviets. The embargo
caused many Cuban citizens to flee Cuba

Descriptive Essay On Walking On Sunshine
Walking on Sunshine
When I was born in 1999 Serena and Venus Williams were on their way to becoming international
tennis stars. Apparently, my parents were avid tennis stars at the time, and so they named me Katrina,
and a few years later they named my little sister Serena. Now Serena and I have never played a game
of tennis together, in fact I don t even think she s played a game of tennis ever. I really doubt that my
parents knew that they were going to conceive another child in 2003, therefor I find this short
anecdote to be completely false. I just think my dad is old and as it was 18 years ago he s forgotten.
My dad also told me how my parents nearly settled on the names Maya and Sara. Hearing this makes
me somewhat grateful for my name, seeing as Sarah s, are a dime a dozen in this world. While I do
find the name Maya intriguing, I don t really see myself as a Maya. One aspect of my name that I love
is my middle names, and yes, I mean middle names as in two. When I was younger I thought it was so
cool to have two middle names, and my dad s story behind the first one never failed to make me feel
special.
My dad s choice of Jewel, because at the time I was as precious as a jewel. My mother rounded off my
middle name with a simple Ann, which stemmed from her middle name. Combined together they
make a somewhat unique Jewel Ann. I think I still like my middle name, its different, I think that s
why I like it. The cherry on top of the name sundae is my last name

Abraham Lincoln Legacy
Each president of the United States of America has left a legacy, some more notable than others. I
believe Abraham Lincoln was the best American president. A Lot of people say that anybody can grow
up to be a President. But not anybody is cut out to be a President. It takes a person to be tough, smart,
active, positive, compassionate and driven, to run for the job. It takes talent, character, and integrity, to
be able to withstand the pressures of this Herculean task.
Leadership Skills
Be with a leader when he is right, stay with him when he is still right, but, leave him when he is
wrong. When Abraham Lincoln was president, he was trying to preserve the union. But, How effective
was Lincoln in inspiring his followers to persevere? Let s take a look at history in the year ... Show

Well for the majority of us, it s not. Let s take a look at how president Abraham Lincoln reacted to
this. After having done some research on this aspect, Abraham Lincoln was confident enough to be
humble to not feel the need to bluster or dominate, but to be sufficiently sure of one s own judgment
and self worth to really listen. A perfect example of trust, loyalty, and respect is revealed in a letter to
Ulysses Grant. Lincoln writes, I now wish to make the personal acknowledgment that you were right,
and I was wrong. How many of us, is brave enough to write our wrongs? Another example was on
February 11, 1861, when Lincoln departed from Springfield to assume the presidency in March. At a
railroad station he says his emotional farewell: My friends No one, not in my situation, can appreciate
my feeling of sadness at this parting. To this place, and the kindness of these people, I owe everything.
These words Abraham shared on such a sad day shows trust, loyalty, and the respect he had for

No shame was brought to those capturing and destroying family bonds. Instead, the ones in shame were the ones in captive. Going further into the late 1700 s and early 1800 s, Separation of family continued. A young boy by the name of Frederick Douglass did not have the constant love and warmth of a mother throughout his developing life. At the time, captive African were now slaves. Slaves were expected to work hard and long hours each day or physical punishments may happen. By comparing Girl with a Mandolin (1910) (Figure 1) by Pablo Picasso (1881 1973) and Georges Braque (1882 963) s Man with a Guitar (1912) (Figure 2), this paper will demonstrate that both artists used the same subject matter (analytical cubist) and employed a similarly repetitive process they convey two different ideas; no means totally devoid of realism in Picasso and comforting exploration in Braque. Girl with a Mandolin, this work depicts a naked girl holds a mandolin, and her head turns to the left and presents the right side of face to the viewer, but the rest of her body is directly facing the viewer. • 4. Importance Of Being Thankful For September 11, 2001 was a very traumatic day. After watching Flight 93, I realized that there are so many things in this world to be thankful for. We never know when the last time you see someone, really is going to be the last time. Death is unexpected and it s crazy how fast something can be taken from us. That s why I am constantly reminding myself that there are more than enough things to be thankful for. I am thankful for all of the men and women who risk their lives to protect us, for the education and privileges that we have that other countries don t offer, and most of all, I am the most thankful for my family and every one of my friends. Not many people thank the men and women who protect us, our country, and our rights. Those people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Frente Sandinista De Liberación Nacional (Fsln), Or The Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional (FSLN), or the Sandinista National Liberation Front, came to power in Nicaragua in 1979 after ousting Anatasio Somoza and putting an end to his family s thirty six year dictatorship. Prior to the revolution that lead to their rise in power, the Sandinista National Liberation Front promised to implement several developmental policies that would raise the living standards of their fellow citizens. I previously argued that development is both a natural and man made phenomenon which aims to positively shape the lives of people via economic, cultural, and educational reform. By this definition the policies carried out by the Sandinistas, which sought to improve the lives of their fellow citizens, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nicaraguans also faced a life expectancy of fifty three years and routinely died from illnesses that could have easily been treated and monitored. Half of the population was illiterate and thirty percent of the nation s income went to five percent of the population whilst fifteen percent was spread across fifty percent. These were just a few of the conditions which prompted the Sandinista s into action and would eventually determine their political promises and platform. The developmental programs and policies they enacted were directly in response to these facts and were meant to improve the lives of their nation s poorest people. Prior to coming to power, the Sandinistas promised large scale agrarian reform and land redistribution. Agrarian reform as a national development project was meant to raise the living standards of landless peasant farmers and provide them with the opportunity to cultivate food for consumption and sale. The rural bourgeoisie owned around eighty five percent of the nation s farmland and comprised just five percent of the agricultural economically active population (EAP). Peasant farmers, on the other hand, made up fifty eight percent of the agricultural EAP and owned the remaining fifteen percent of the land. Landless laborers, the main group for whom the Sandinistas had promised reform, made up the remaining thirty seven percent of the agriculturally active population. The ... • 6. Greenbush Vs. Burke Heights Greenbush vs. Burke Heights This report will be on the research I have discovered first hand as well as through statistical data that compares and contrasts the neighborhoods of Greenbush and Burke Heights, both located in Madison, Wisconsin. When researching these two neighborhoods, I focused on the neighborhoods housing statistics, demographics of their residents, and the money circulating within the neighborhoods. Another aspect I paid attention to while comparing the neighborhoods was the economic and employment opportunities available within the communities. These benefits directly correlate to the amount of capital that is available for residents. Lastly, I took note of the entertainment, retail, and physical possibilities that prevailed in these neighborhoods. The first subject I will compare is the housing within each neighborhood. First, in the Greenbush neighborhood, the majority of people are either college students or young adults between the ages of twenty and thirty two. It was obvious this age group lived in these homes seeing the décor on the front porches and the cars in the driveways. The average household income ranges between seventy and eighty five thousand dollars per year (StatisticalAtlas). Just walking down the street I noticed most of the lots are designated for either college students, expensive residential homes, or parks with green spaces. The neighborhoods average price for a normal sized home would range between three hundred and three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But for the common man freedom of religion and speech were the catalyst sources for colonizing. Once there they had to set up a stable government and build from the bottom. They eventually turned it into a more prosperous civilization and a larger mass of people followed them over and set up a stable government. Eyeing the profit to be made the English started to tax heavily implementing the Stamp act as a well the Coercive acts(Intolerable Acts). With the colonist s money going to the British government and the colonist not having any say in how they were represented felt left out of the government and decided that could form their own and do a better job governing. After years of war they received their independence and struggled to form a cohesive government, so logically people split up into different groups. There was the federalist headed by Alexander Hamilton and the anti federalist led by Thomas Jefferson. There were two antithesis views on how the government should be run, hence the promotion of the newly formed political parties headed by two political powerhouses with out them the government could turn into a dictatorship. The Movie Night And Boys Don t Cry The novel Night by Elie Wiesel is a book that can be compared to many media or textual forms, such as novel, short stories, comics, etc., but the most suitable comparative media form was a film . The film is a visual presentation of fictional or nonfictional story that gets the audiences a sense of the emotional trauma. The film, which complemented Night by Elie Wiesel by the similarity of themes, but a totally different plot was the film titled, Boys Don t Cry Directed by: Kimberly Peirce. Both the book and Film have the great essence of to begin with, Dehumanization human tend to physically, emotionally or sexually torture another human being, followed by, the instinctual struggle to survive how people have overcome many hurdles of life to get a point or SURVIVAL , and finally, Denial of self when one try to deny deny or restrain their personality or they lost their own identity. For example, according to a publication in the Journal of the American Medical Association, 59 percent of all U.S. adults are currently on at least one prescription drug, and 15 percent of all U.S. adults are on at least five prescription drugs (Snyder 2016).Futhermore,we find over the counter medicine, there are numerous painkillers available on the market, and most of all as we evolve, scientist will eventually find a way to better than and lessen the negative effects that comes with them. • 12. Roman Empire Dbq Essay The Roman Empire was once one of the most powerful empires in the world, but still to this day we ask, how did the empire end? Romans built their territory to be the best. They expanded their land across regions, had all the power, a large population, and technological innovations; so how could such a great empire end? Rome was once at it s peak but was destined to fall due to political instability, overconfidence, negligence, and barbarian attacks. If the United States had six different presidents every year, our nation would be unstable. According to Document A, in 30 years Rome had 22 different emperors; only two died of natural deaths. The Roman Empire had frequent change in leadership. An example is, from 238 244 BC there were five different emperors in a year, Gordian 1 2, Balbinus and Pupienus, and Gordian 3 (Document A). To barbarians, or people outside of Rome, this sent a message of weakness; which meant they were losing power. The desiration to become a ruler ceased, as there were many assassinations. It was dangerous to be an emperor at this time because there was minimal protection from the military and army. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rome was at the peak of their time. • 14. Reflective Beliefs Of AquinasTeaching On The Eucharist Aquinas teaching on the Eucharist has offered many new and distinctive insights to me. One of these insights is when Aquinas asks the question whether one should distinguish the two ways of eating Christ s body. The two ways are spiritually and sacramentally. His opponents argue there is no need to and I thought the same as well, because eating the bread and drinking the wine would encompass both. However, after reading Aquinas I answer , it became clear to me that there is a twofold division between the sacrament itself and the effect of it. An example my professor gave is if a mouse ate some bread and wine. The mouse is not mindful and because of that, it only participated in the physical aspect of the Eucharist, but not with its effect. You must be mindful to appreciate the symbols of bread and wine or there will be more harm than good if you are not attentive of what God is doing. A quote from Aquinas that helped me understand this better is when he says, but the sacramental eating that does not secure the effect is contrasted with spiritual eating, just as the imperfect, which does not attain perfection of its species, is contrasted with the perfect (ST 3.80.1). What he means by this is that just by merely participating in the sacrament alone without the effect is like doing something in an imperfect way. The perfect way of doing this is by complete eating, which is receiving both the visible and invisible effects. Aquinas also offers some strong arguments against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Characteristics Of Beowulf Beowulf: A True Christian Hero A hero is someone who demonstrates acts of courage which is accompanied by a high moral character. A Christian hero not only demonstrates these qualities, but they also stay true to the will of God and demonstrate a sense of faith. This requires being selfless, obedient in faith, and most importantly having tremendous courage. The character Beowulf, in the epic poem by the same name, presents all these characteristics. Throughout the poem his character matures and ultimately becomes a better leader, which makes these traits all the more present. Beowulf s quality of leadership and passion for the well being of others truly defines a Christian hero. Exhibiting selflessness is a characteristics that plays a great deal in how others perceive you. Beowulf was a type of leader that did not think twice before helping those in need. In many cases he was willing to sacrifice himself for the better good of his people, which is the ultimate act of selflessness. But in the very beginning, even before he was king of his own land he exhibited his selfless nature. He did this by coming to the aid of Hrothgar, the king of the Danes. The following excerpt, Beowulf kindness is revealed, When he heard about Grendel, Hygelac thane was on home ground, over i Gretland. There was no one else like him alive. In his day, he was the mightiest man on earth, highborn and powerful. He ordered a boat that would ply the waves. He announced his plan: to sail the swan s road and seek out that king, the famous prince who needed defenders. Nobody tried to keep him from going, no elder denied him,der as he was to them. (Beowulf; lines 194 203). Beowulf went on to defeat of grendel and his mother, two monsters ploughing Hrothgar and his people. This act gained him respect his selfless act blossomed into the blessing of him one day becoming a king himself. Beowulf did not have to come to the aid of the king but did so anyway. However, many enterprising DIY riggers have found that a few plastic D rings and some duct tape will make a handy group of mounting and attachment points on an inflatable kayak. One of the latest and greatest discoveries among self rigging enthusiasts is that a heavy duty plastic cutting board, normally for kitchen counter use, can be bungee corded to an inflatable kayak which then makes an excellent ... Their light weight not only makes taking them along on a hike a definite plus, but also makes a nice difference in getting the kayak out of your vehicle and to the shoreline even when you are able to drive right up to the launch. On average, an inflatable kayak will weigh about half that of a similar sized rigid kayak. Even many tandem inflatable kayaks weight less than single rigid kayaks. There is no need for a trailer or roof rack, since they easily will fit into the trunk of even a compact car, or into the back seat. This ability to fit into a small space adds another big benefit, storage of your kayak in the off season. While storing your rigid kayak in the winter months usually means either having sufficient garage space, a storage building, or an outside rack or cradle of some kind, a deflated kayak will usually need no more storage space than that of a cooler. Finally there is the price consideration. Inflatable kayaks are generally about half the cost of a similar sized rigid model. The additional savings of not having to also purchase a roof rack or trailer has influenced many fishermen to become kayak fishermen when price is their main ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Federal Reserve System And Economic Development The Federal Reserve The Federal Reserve System was created by Congress in 1913 and passed the Federal Reserve Act in order to provide for a safer and more flexible banking and monetary system. According to the changing needs of the system, its objectives have been changing throughout the history of the Fed. At first, its original purposes were to give the country an elastic currency, provide facilities for discounting commercial credits, and improve the supervision of the banking system under a decentralized bank. (The Federal Reserve System, 1984, 1). Prior to its establishment (the Fed), the supply of bank credit and money was inelastic, thus resulting in an irregular flow of credit and money, and contributed to unstable economic development. These objectives were aspects economic policies and national monetary. However, through time, stability and growth of the economy, high employment levels, stability in the purchasing power of the dollar, and reasonable balance in transactions with foreign currencies have become to be recognized as primary objectives of the governmental economic policy. The Fed is an independent central bank. Its decisions are not ratified by the president or any other government institutions. However, the Fed has to report to the Congress. • 22. Night Reflection Paper The Holocaust, lasting from 1933 to 1945, was a period of time when German Nazis sent Jews, Gypsies, and others ostracized by the Nazis to concentration camps. They were sent to die, and in turn the prisoners got their identity stripped from them. Elie Wiesel, a survivor of the Holocaust was 15 when his town was relocated to the camp Auschwitz. For 11 months, Elie moved from one camp to the next, escaping Death with the skin of his teeth each time. After being liberated in April 1945, Elie went on to write books about his experience, and to even win a Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. In Elie s book Night, he writes about his identity being stripped from himself by the SS officers working in the concentration camps. Right from the first few days at camp, Elie witnessed how SS officers decided who got to live and die merely by the smallest discrepancy in their posture, whether it was a quivering finger on the trigger, or the brisk flick of a baton, telling prisoners which side of a forked path to follow; one leading to the crematorium. With his father, Elie met Dr. Mengele at the center of a crossroad; he was holding a conductor s baton and was surrounded by officers. The baton was moving constantly, sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left (Wiesel 31). Dr. Mengele got to choose life or death of the prisoners merely by his own preference, making the prisoners seem nothing more than play pretend dolls or wide eyed pigs on their way to the slaughterhouse. Adaptive traits can range from structural, behavioural, or physical traits, which are maintained and evolved by natural selection. In my essay I will be focusing on how organisms adapt to living in frozen seas, which is the home to a huge variety of different life forms that are highly adapted in their life history, ecology and physiology to the harsh conditions of this environment. I will firstly be looking at both the Arctic Ocean and Antarctica in more detail before exploring the different varieties of life that live there, and the adaptive traits they have developed. Antarctica ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are also examples of flora in their Antartica adapting to their surroundings, as plants and lichens that live on ice free areas have special leaf structures that prevent loss of moisture, which is important as there is a very small amount of moisture to be found in Antarctica. There are also certain fish in both the Arctic and Antarctic that have antifreeze proteins which lower the freezing point of their blood. These work by joining to tiny ice crystals that enter the circulatory system through the gills, stopping the crystals from expanding. These proteins can also work on crystals that are ingested by the fish as they swim. This is an example of chemical adaptation. Another example of adaptation is how the Emperor penguin is able to conserve energy levels through a reduction in heart rate to 15% less than its resting heart rate during deep dives. They are also able to save heat by reducing blood flow to their extremities. They also show behavioural adaptation, as to help everyone stay warm, up to 6,000 male Emperor penguins can cluster together to conserve heat while they incubate their eggs, with temperatures reaching 20ºC above ambient ... But this saying also works for people. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee writes about life in Maycomb, and how many characters has some rumors that affected them negatively. Harper Lee also sends this message to the readers, that we can not judge people by their cover. We can not judge them by either, race, rumors, etc. Boo Radley, Tom Robinson, and Dolphus Raymond all had bad things said about them. Scout also sees that these people are truly not bad people. The theme is that outward appearances is not always accurate. Boo Radley was an adult that was thought to believe that he stabbed his dad in the leg with scissors when he was a teenager. Scout, Jem, and Dill always feared him. The feared him so much, that they always cautioned whenever they crossed over to their house. They even made a dare that involved braveness and Boo Radley. ¨Well how d you feel if you d been shut up for a hundred years with nothin but cats to eat?¨ But Boo isn t is bad as he seems. In any case, stakeholder capitalism assumes that long term loyal shareholders typically, controlling shareholders rather than the transient portfolio investor should influence corporate strategy. Although both philosophies have their strengths and weaknesses, two trends in recent years have led to an increasing focus on shareholder wealth. First, as more of the non Anglo American markets have increasingly privatized their industries, the shareholder wealth focus is seemingly needed to attract international capital from outside investors, many of whom are from other countries. Cuban American policy is a very controversial subject. Elian Gonzalez s case changed the United states. At the time many Cubans were coming to the United States and they were allowed to stay because of a policy called the wet foot, dry foot policy which said that if Cubans reached United States soil they would be allowed to stay but if they were found in the water they would be deported. They were also coming because of the effect of the embargo. People began migrating from Cuba after a man named Fidel Castro overthrew the previous dictator of Cuba in 1959. Fidel Castro promised democratic policies but soon after taking control he began making the government totalitarian and everyone who opposed him was imprisoned. Castro became even more totalitarian and communist because he wanted complete control of Cuba. Because of this relations between Cuba and the United States worsened.
