Differences And Components Of The Baptist Faith And Message
Introduction Baptists are believers with profound beliefs in the authority of the Old and New
Testaments. In order to teach and defend the faith, Baptist churches and associations adopted doctrinal
commitments and core beliefs through the Baptist Faith and Message (BF M). The Statement were
derived from the New Hampshire Confession of Faith of 1883, but was revised to meet the needs of
Baptists. The BF M statements were considered merely a confession of the Baptists beliefs and not
meant to be a creed. Fundamentally, the role of the Baptist Faith and Message was to adopt statements
that would clarify the atmosphere and remove some causes of misunderstanding, friction, and
apprehension These confessions of faith were implemented to confirm repentance to God, perpetuate
faith in Jesus Christ, and fulfil the Great Commission. Further, the statements are intended to clarify
and provide guidance of the basic beliefs that stands as the foundation of the Baptist s faith, witness,
and worship. As an autonomous body, the local congregation is considered to be independent in its
faith and fellowship of the gospel.
This paper will compare and contrast the ecclesiological portions of the Baptist Faith and Message
doctrinal statements of 1925 (section XII), 1963 (section VI), and 2000 (section VI). Further, it will

Wild Reflection
This semester has showed me how to analyze within my writing. The class discussions throughout the
semester allowed me to think about the readings in a different way in which I was not accustomed. For
example, a discussion post regarding The Call of the Wild, we were asked, most of the human
characters are rather flat (unchanging) while the dogs personalities indicate some measure of depth
and character. What challenges does this role reversal present readers in understanding the central
theme of the story? What is the central theme ? In response, I answered, Jack London purposely shies
away from much of the human characters instincts and feelings so the readers would purposely
connect to the animals, specifically Buck and understand his instincts. The humans were not following
any of their instincts as their total focus was on the gold they had hoped to obtain. The central theme
of The Call of the Wild is Buck versus his instincts . Much of what we read can be analyzed in
different ways by different readers for example, one of my peers responded, I think that the overall
theme of the story is loyalty . So, how a reader analyses the story can be seen in different ways but
having the ability to decipher what the author is saying is the key in analyzation. When searching for
resources for my papers the idea of being able to read something and to analyze it, allowed me to

Utilitarianism Is Inconsistent With The Demands Of Friendship
Friendship requires partiality and altruism. If one aims to build a friendship, s/he must show partiality
by making sacrifices that benefit this friend in lieu of maximizing pleasure for all. Utilitarianism
requires persons to act only in ways that benefit hedonic utility maximizing pleasure while minimizing
pain. Utilitarianism forgoes partiality and requires that an individual only commit actions that benefit
the greater good. Thus, friendship an act that requires partiality and Utilitarianism an act that requires
impartiality cannot coexist. This raises problems for the utilitarian because many persons would agree
that friendship serves an integral function in any human life. It seems that no ethical framework
should require persons to forgo anything central to our understanding of life as Utilitarianism might. A
person who wholly espouses Utilitarianism cannot serve as a good friend because the two contradict
each other. Utilitarianism requires one to act impartially while friendship builds its foundation on
partiality.
Roadmap:
In this essay, I will argue for Shafer Landau s suggestion that Utilitarianism is inconsistent with the
demands of friendship. First, I will assert that a true utilitarian cannot also act as a true friend as result
