No Secret That Our Educational System Has Flaws
It s no secret that our educational system has flaws, and that policymakers are often deeply divided
over how to address those flaws. One of the more divisive issues in education today is the creation and
implementation of a national set of educational standards, particularly in the subjects of mathematics,
science and English. Some people believe that creating a national curriculum and applying it in all
schools across the nation will help to improve our educational system; others believe that the
argument over national standards is merely distracting from the real problems, and that a common set
of standards will not solve any of those issues. I am personally in favor of creating a nation wide
standard for education, although I acknowledge that the process of designing and carrying out these
changes will present numerous challenges for those to whom the job falls. Still, I believe that a
national curriculum would be a step in the right direction. As it stands, states across the country have
wildly differing criterion for what their students should be learning and when they should be learning
it. Two students, in the same grade, in different schools can be learning completely different things in
their classes. This creates problems for parents, students, and teachers in our schools on a number of
levels.
Firstly, the lack of a national curriculum makes things unnecessarily difficult for families that move
around frequently, particularly military families. Children can

The Consequentialist Ethical Concept Of Driver To The Road
It is commonly known that many people that lives in England and for some reason they visit others
European countries such as France, Germany or Italy they have problems with driving their car to the
road because of the change of the side of driving the car. Deontologist Ethical concept is the most
suitable to argue of which side of the road should driver to drive on theirs cars. This model is best
defined as an action is right if it is in harmony with a moral rule or the code of principle. Let s take the
rule or an example, every driver of England will drive on the right hand side of the road in the city of
Liverpool. If you follow the Deontologist Ethical concept every car in Liverpool should drive on the
right hand side of the road in the city because it is the rule of law that is establish. ... Show more

An example might be the same law in the city of Liverpool where all car or bike drivers will drive
their automobiles on the right hand side of the road, yet, if there is a good purpose, like a medical
emergency or fire or robbery and etc. a driver should drive on the left side of the road to arrive in the
destination quicker. This fact generate a question that, a driver who needs to go fast in his destination
and he is seeing a queue of cars ahead of him, he can drive on the left hand side for a short distance as
long as no one is coming.
According to with traffic laws this is wrong bit in deontologist theory should be the best way to
follow. With a consequentiality theory driving on this side of the road could be dangerous because no
rule or law is absolute and everyone must

Will And John s Struggle To Attend The Academy
Will and John s struggle to leave their comfort zone and attend the academy is similar, but how they
cope with the plebe system is different! Will must immediately leave his comfort zone when asked by
his dad to attend the institute. It took Will a lot of courage and bravery to carry out his dad s last dying

fit into the plebe system. In only his second week at the Institute, he says When I called my mother

The Role Of Nationalism In The Twentieth Century
The twentieth century shaped countries in a way that forged the future of these counties. At a moment
when the war had just started. Nationalism was a mindset, a smaller version of brainwash. It motivated
people to excel in their respective tasks. Economic and politic have changed how each country
identified themselves which lead them to choose between socialism and capitalism. It determined the
effectiveness of their army, mindset culture and so on. The concept of Nationalism started in Europe,
due to the war that was getting aggravated day by day due to the assassination of the Austrian
Hungarian Archduke Ferdinand and his wife Sophia. The popular understanding of the word

Hedging Currency Risks at AIF
The American Institute of Foreign Studies (AIFS) is a company that organizes student exchange
programs worldwide with two main divisions. The College Division arranges academic years and
semesters or summer schools. The High School Division organizes 1 4 week educational travels for
students and teachers. More than 50,000 students participate each year in exchange programs of AIFS,
which leads to annual revenues of around $ 200 million. AIFS receives most of its revenues in US
Dollars, whereas most of its costs incur in foreign currencies, mainly in Euros and British Pounds.
This is why they use currency hedging in order to protect their bottom line.

Why Were The Crusades Dbq

attempts to capture the Holy Land which was successful. The First Crusade was a military expedition

But the main question is how and why were the Christian Crusaders motivated to fight in the war, was
is it to do with political reason such gaining money, power, papacy. Economical reasons, such as
bringing in back valuable resources from the Muslims or to raise social status or maybe was it to do

North American Colonization Research Paper
The discovery of North America sparked a new era of exploration, expansion, and colonization. Many
European countries took the opportunity to develop a new territory where they could prosper
financially and benefit their home country as much as possible. The trip overseas was strenuous, as
was maintaining positive relationships with Native Americans and running a successful colony.
Although all European countries who showed interest in establishing territories in the Americas had
their own reasons for doing so, some countries did a better job executing their colonizing than others.
Britain, France, and Spain were the three most successful countries in terms of colonizing a new land
for their country.

People emigrated in hopes of gaining land, improving their social statuses and wealth, and to convert
the Natives to Christianity. Many poor beggars sought new work as indentured servants, and obtaining
land of their own after serving 4 7 years. This was a chance for them to regain their social status, an
opportunity that would not be available back home. It was also a gamble, since life expectancy was
very low for servants due to being overworked, as well as susceptible to diseases. To many, however,
the risk was worth it. In England, there were massive amounts of unemployed workers. Poverty and
crime increased dramatically, but by moving to the new colonies the poor received more of a fresh
start. In Virginia, the colonists profited from harvesting tobacco, but they were overridden by diseases
and did not have a healthy lifestyle. In New England, there was far less death by diseases and had
more middle class residents than the poor servants down South. With Puritan leadership, the colonists
had a better worth ethic and kinder values than those in Virginia. Though they fought many bloody
wars with the Natives, they were also able to convert many of them. The English were able to obtain
even more territory, such as Barbados in the West Indies where they profited from sugar. Overall, the
English were able to strengthen their economy with new

The Importance Of Toxic Leadership
The Corps of the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) has been around since the formation of the
Continental Army in 1775. The basic responsibility of the NCO was to fill gaps in the lines and keep
soldiers quiet on mission while leading (Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of the
NCO focus on soldier welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadership is a
serious concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps. What is toxic
leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps if it is allowed to continue?
Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered attitudes, motivations,
and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and mission performance .
NCOs, just as civilians, range from poor leaders to excellent leaders; but when does poor leadership
become toxic leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not every soldier is born to lead. Some
soldiers are bad decision makers, poor time managers, or just unable to inspire confidence in their
fellow soldiers. There is nothing wrong with being a follower if you are a competent individual who
can perform the given tasks. A NCO who cannot step up and lead is not a toxic leader, they are a bad
leader. With education and training NCOs with poor leaderships skills develop into competent leaders.
Toxic leadership is a result of narcissistic leaders, individuals who have an

Citizen Soldiers Chapter 14 Analysis
CH 14 On chapter 14 Ambrose talks about many things that had happened in his life. The first topic of
chapter 14 was his writing skills. He tries to answer the question that many people ask him how do
you write so good. He answers with it s just a lot of hard work. Then he is sometimes asked what is
his best book that he has written, and Ambrose responds with it is usually his last published book that
is the best. Then Ambrose talks about Moria and how she has helped him with his writing, also how he
sometimes gets things directly from her to help him with his writing. That is when he does the
transition to talking about some of the books that he has written. That leads to the travels that he had
and that lead to the publishing of the book Undaunted Courage. Ambrose then talk about the trips that
he had with his family following the Lewis and Clark trail. After that he talks about what happens in 3
of his books. The book Citizen Soldiers is about Soldiers in Europe during the second world war. The
book was a sequel to D Day. The book was a combination of accounts of soldiers that were in the
European theater of the Second World War. The technique that he was trying to use was that he would

Essay about Chronic Inflammation and Glycation
Inflammation is a natural body reaction in response to infection or tissue injury, which helps man to
boost immune defenses and overcome stress. Acute inflammatory responses are often triggered by
trauma or invasive microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, but if well controlled these immune
responses may help prevent further damage and assist in body repair processes. On the other hand,
prolonged cellular stress caused by certain stimuli such as pollution, poor diet, lack of exercise and
other lifestyle factors can cause chronic inflammation, which can lead to premature aging and chronic
disease. Chronic Inflammation and Glycation Chronic cellular stress often leads to cell dysfunction
and many mechanisms for how these processes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a natural chemical reaction in which a simple sugar or carbohydrate molecule attaches to another
bio molecule such as a protein, lipid, or nucleic acid without the help of enzymes. Unlike
glycosylation, which is a similar metabolic process that is catalyzed by an enzyme, glycation usually
disrupts normal cellular processes and are usually associated with oxidative damage. During glycation
process, simple sugars like glucose and fructose act as reducing sugars, which become attached to
proteins, nucleic acids or lipids, forming glycation adducts called Schiff base over a few hours.
Healthy cells can eliminate these byproducts, but with chronic inflammation, these compounds can
rearrange to become more stable compounds called Amadori products. Over months, accumulation of
these compounds can lead to a series of chemical reactions that result in irreversible formation of
highly stable substances called advanced glycation end products (AGEs). AGEs and Mitochondrial
Dysfunction AGEs normally form at slow but constant rates in the cells and may accumulate with
time. The accumulation of AGEs occurs when there is an increase in their production and/or a
decrease in their elimination. With aging, low protein turnover, for example, results in the
accumulation of extracellular AGEs on collagen, resulting in wrinkles. In diabetics, high plasma levels
of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) increase as a result of high blood glucose levels. Studies show

The Election Between Lyndon B. Johnson And Barry Goldwater...
The 1964 American election between Lyndon B. Johnson and Barry Goldwater has strong similarities
with the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump. In both cases, the democrat
candidates focused more on their counterpart s rhetoric rather than uphold their own ideas in an
attempt to persuade voters to support them. This essay will argue that the Democrat candidates of the
1964 and 2016 elections, in many instances, instead of focusing on their political proposals, focused
on anti intellectualism by emphasizing their opponent s extremist right winger rhetoric. This
comparison shows the enduring trends of right wing extremism, racial conflicts, and republican
divisiveness. To prove this argument, this text will analyze Democrat campaign advertisements in both

In order to compare these two influential elections, one must first have a firm grasp of the
historiography of both elections. The 1964 election was the 45th quadrennial presidential election. It
had a lot of controversy around it due to the Republican nomination of politician and businessman
Barry M. Goldwater for the president run. He outweighed prominent Republican candidates, for
instance, Nelson A. Rockefeller. Goldwater did not have the support of his own party to run the
election and underwent heavy criticism due to his unpopular conservative political position. He faced

Relationship Between The English And The Native Americans
Shayne Chen Mrs. Allen OCO AP US History 27 August 2015 The War of the Change The
relationship between the English and the Native Americans in 1600 to 1700 is one of the most
fluctuating and the most profound relationships in American history. On the one side of the picture,
the harmony between Wampanoag and Puritans even inspires them to celebrate first Thanksgiving ;
while, by contrast, the conflicts between the Pequots and the English urge them to antagonize each
other, and even wage a war. In addition, the mystery of why the European settlers, including English,
become the dominant power in American world, instead of the indigenous people, or Indians, can be
solved from the examination of the relationship. In a variety of ways, the relationship drastically alters
how people think about and relate to the aborigines. Politically, the relationship changes to establish
the supremacy of the English; the English intends to obtain the land and rules over it. Socially, the
relationship changes to present the majority of the English settlers; the dominating population is
mostly the English settlers. Economically, the relationship changes to obtain the benefit of the English
settlers; they gain profit from the massive resource in America. Therefore, the relationship does, in
fact, change to foreshadow the discordance of the two groups of people. Firstly, the relationship
changes in the politics in many ways. To begin with, the European settlers, the English, crave so much

Narrative Essay On Chicago
Beep! Beep! Beep! My alarm blared and I knew it was time to hit the road. After 6 extremely long,
tiring hours in the car, we stopped in Champaign, Illinois for lunch. After an amazing meal, we were
on the road again traveling towards Chicago.
We finally arrived in Chicago after countless agonizing hours in the car. When we arrived in Chicago
we checked into our hotel and gazed at the skyline from our window. The next day we went to the
Navy Pier. We rode the humongous Ferris wheel on the pier. It was a ton of fun, even though I m not
the biggest fan of heights. We also rode the train everywhere we went in the city. Chicago was a
marvelous city and I wouldn t mind to go again.
After we left Chicago, we drove up to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While we were in town we went to a
Milwaukee Brewers baseball game. They have a really nice stadium and it s pretty new. The Brewers

2 lengthy hours later we arrived in the Dells. I was really nice to get out and stretch my legs after the
long drive. One of the first things we did was we went to Walmart to get supplies and snacks. The next
day we visited one of the largest waterparks in the entire United States, Noah s Ark. There were a boat
load of extremely entertaining water slides at this park. Black Anaconda was my favorite slide in the
whole park. This fascinating ride was shockingly fast and had full of hills. When we got back from the
water park, we went to eat at a restaurant on the Wisconsin Dells Strip. We ate an immense meal at
MACS. This unreal restaurant was a macaroni shop. They had an endless amount of specialty dishes. I
had their stunning classic dish and it was out of this world. After dinner we went shopping at all the
stores on the Strip. While we were shopping we stopped at a fudge shop. The employees were making
brand new chocolate in the front window. This fudge was incredibly rich and was

Is Julius Caesar Arrogant Or Dangerous
The character Julius Caesar is presented as arrogant and dangerous in Act 1 of the play. Discuss.
Often called the great political thriller , the play Julius Caesar written by William Shakespeare
depicted the political world of ancient Rome. Throughout history, many historians and scholars have
argued upon whether Julius Caesar was a man of great military power and political influence or a man
trapped in his own personal weaknesses and complications. Of the many topics of debate, the
statement that Julius Caesar is presented as arrogant and dangerous in Act 1 of the play is not, in the
writer s opinion, a full perspective of him. Although he did illustrate signs of tyranny, Caesar would
often betray signs of weaknesses as well.
Shakespeare s Caesar dominated the play at the very beginning. Through the conversation of Flavius,
Murellus and certain commoners, the audience would quickly discover the fact that the citizens ...

The first act of the play have illuminated his nobility in many ways. Domestically, he was faithful to
his wife, Calpurnia, and respected her advices and opinions. Shakespeare highlighted the importance
of Calpurnia to Caesar by designating Caesar s first word in the play to be Calpurnia . Publically, he
displayed honour and modesty. When Caesar was offered the crown thrice by his fellow friend,
Antony, Caesar put it by thrice, every time gentler than other.
Julius Caesar was not a tyrant, not a Roman as brave and respected as other characters such as Brutus,
and certainly not entirely presented as dangerous and arrogant in Act 1 of the play. Instead he was a
mixture of many characteristics that would later be the cause of much debate among historians and
Shakespearian scholars. It was the many aspects, noble and cowardly, of the character of Julius Caesar
that Shakespeare manipulated upon to create a play that still satisfies the minds of readers who study it

Essay about Improving Change Management
Throughout every organization is an opportunity to introduce new change. Change can have a positive
or negative impact on the surrounding environment, both internally and externally. Implementing a
change requires adjustments to the status quo, sometimes leading to employees that are directly
affected by the change to feel threatened. Change can also produce positive reactions, such as boosting
morale, increasing profits, or decreasing costs. A new change in an environment must be carefully
planned out, to ensure that the expected results are achieved while maintaining all other processes at
an acceptable level. There are several factors that contribute to improving change management within
a data center of any firm. According to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea is to abandon perfection in favor of action. By forcing a decision making process within a
reasonable time frame, this allows the firm to release the ship from the pier. Riskin also correlates this
rule to having a positive impact on the esprit de corps of the firm. This rule in particular allows firms
that are struggling with introducing change to overcome this resistance. Another valid rule of Riskin s
seven is to ask for commitment not agreement (Riskin, 2006, p. 30). This rule displays the need that
not everyone in the firm has to be 100% on board with the impending change, but everyone has to be
committed enough to the firm to go along with the change. This is invaluable advice for legal firms
(such that I have experienced) which struggle to achieve change buy in from select partners. With
emphasizing the fact that everyone must be on board for what is best for the firm, it allows the
reduction or elimination of possible sabotage efforts from people who are resistant to change. Riskin
concludes, fostering change in a law firm seems impossible because most Managing Partners treat the
activities associated with such change as if they were component piece of a legal transaction. All of
these resistances can be overcome by following the rules outlined by Riskin. When focusing on the

Discuss The Arguments For The Rights And Privileges Of...
In this essay, I will be arguing for the rights and privileges of minority groups. I believe that special
privileges do not give minorities excessive benefits, and that these privileges also do not infringe upon
the rights or lifestyles of the majority. I will prove this through the examination of several aspects of
society and nation, including equality, nation building, and identity. These three characteristics of
multiculturalism and society will help evidence the justification of minority rights in the face of
opposing liberal majority interests. To establish the need for minority rights, the concept of
multiculturalism must first be understood. Kymlicka describes multiculturalism as an umbrella term
for the claims of these ethnocultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For most people, identity is intimately tied into their cultural/religious backgrounds. When minorities
are denied recognition of their backgrounds for the sake of the majorities comfort, it denies minorities
their right to cultural or ethnic identities. Living in a society that has a mainstream culture contrary to
one s own lifestyle makes it difficult to embrace your own identity with pride, especially if that
society s government does not support your need for rights. As identity is so crucial in a person s good
life, it is unjust for a society to deny a person their right to celebrate the practices of their culture or
religion. Despite identity being considered a fairly basic right in modern society, it is also where most
of the issues surrounding minority rights occur. Giving a group of people the right to practice a
religion seems inherently just at first glance, however what happens if the groups beliefs conflict with
the liberal majority s concept of human rights? In instances where the beliefs of the minority directly
conflict with the goals of the state (to protect its citizens), I believe it is justifiable for the state to step
in on behalf of the child s wellbeing. These instances, despite being well known, are not as common as
one might think. It is easy to criminalize minorities for specific and rare instances of abuse, but overall
it is empirically provable that most minority groups only want special privileges in order to raise their
position in society to be equal. It is unusual for cases to be handled without precedents or established
systems, but in the case of multiculturalism I think that case to case examinations would be the most
effective way to police such crimes in minority groups. The fear that minorities may abuse any special
privileges they may be awarded does not justify the preemptive denial of

Asbestos Exposure To Disease
Asbestos is a mineral resistant to heat, but increases size of respirable fibers that can be inhaled into

The Language Of Language Teaching
Historically, both teachers and researchers have not been interested in pronunciation, as they have
usually focused their effort on grammar and vocabulary. Only at the end of nineteenth century, with
the Reform Movement in language teaching, pronunciation received systematic attention (Celce
Murcia et al. 2010; Terrell 2012). Thenceforth, research on L2 phonological instruction has grown,
and, with the advent of the Communicative Approach, questions on the matter shifted from Is it
necessary to teach it? to What are the best ways to teach it? With the focus on communication, this
approach raised the need to teach both segmental and suprasegmental aspects of the target language in
the classroom in order to increase intelligibility and communicability, because, regardless students
command of the second language grammar, they may still face communication problems if they fall
under a threshold level of nonnative pronunciation (Hinofotis and Bailey, 1980).
Despite possible, it is rare for L2 speakers to achieve native like pronunciation (Bongaerts et al. 1997).
Therefore, a more modest and realistic goal is to enable learners to surpass the threshold level so that
their pronunciation will not detract from their ability to communicate (Celce Murcia et al. 2010).
There is empirical evidence that learning context play a fundamental role on achieving high level
phonological proficiency. Bongaerts et al. (1997) demonstrated that their high proficient subjects were

The Passion of Artemisia by Susan Vreeland
Review of The Passion of Artemisia by Susan Vreeland Both Artemisia s father and Agostino Tassi,
her father s friend, had spent quite a bit of time teaching her the art of painting. When she was 18,
Agostino Tassi, raped Artemisia Gentileschi of Rome during a lesson. When the rapist is tried by a
court of the Inquisition, it s more as if Artemisia is the criminal than Agostino who gets off free
(thanks partly to Artemisia s father, his own interest in having his painting returned, trumping his
daughter s dignity) while Artemisia, after torture and public humiliation, is left only with a destroyed
reputation. With father s help, however, a husband is found; Artemisia marries Pietro Stiattesi, an
artist, and moves to Florence, where her quotidian responsibilities do little to quench her visceral need
for painting. She s happy to be in the art center of the world and soon gives birth to a daughter.
Through perseverance and passion she comes to the attention of powerful art patrons. She makes
history by becoming the first woman elected to the Accademia dell Arte, but makes waves with her
husband as; predictably, he is envious of her growing fame as an artist. Pietro reverts to his
womanizing ways and their relationship is barely held together by their daughter. Artemisia and her
daughter, Palmira leave Pietro behind for a new patron to Genoa, but not before meeting Buonaretti
the Younger, being introduced to the Medici court, and growing into a friendship with Galileo.

The Causes Of Veteran Homelessness
The United States of America rests on the shoulders of our brave men and women. It is unfortunate
that once a soldier returns home, he or she has the strong likelihood that a roof, four walls, and a job
will not be waiting. It is the responsibility of the people of this great nation to provide the support that
these veterans need to survive in this world; they would help us survive in theirs. If goals are put in
place and there is enough effort and power backing up the motor of these goals, then accomplishing an
end to veteran homelessness will occur. This paper will examine the causes of veteran homelessness
and how to cease and prevent veteran homelessness from happening and reoccurring. According to the
National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness, as of 2014, 13.2% of the American
population was homeless. Additionally, it was found that another 3.5 million people were strained to
finding shelter in parks, under bridges, or sleeping in cars. Of this 13.2%, 23% of those suffering were
United States veterans. The reason as to why veterans become homeless is due to war related
disabilities, such as physical disabilities, mental detriment, posttraumatic stress disorder, and an
inability to reorganize themselves back into civilian life, noted in Homeless Veterans: Perspectives on
Social Services Use. In April of 2008, the U.S. Department of Labor released the unemployment rates
of those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001 and the percentage of

Jesus Came As The Savior And The World, The Supreme Leader...
Jesus came as the Savior to Israel and the world, the supreme leader of Heaven. In the three and a half
years He ministered, He performed and accomplished astonishing feats. He preached life changing
sermons, and taught captivating parables that remain to test today s most educated scholars. He healed
hundreds of incurable diseases, provided food for thousands extraordinarily, calmed storms suddenly,
walked on water confidently, brought people back to life, and selected just a dozen men, eleven of
whom would go on to spend the rest of their lives fulfilling His mission. He selected hard working
people such as fishermen to be His apprentices, and helped and ate with regular people. He challenged
and condemned religious leaders, who resented and despised Him. He taught in Jerusalem, the cities
of Judea, out in the rural areas, in meadows, on mounds, and from boats in the water while multitudes
attended attentively from the shore. Jesus taught about a place, but not a place of this world. He never
had a family, owned a home, held an office, or even wrote a book. Though some would debate as
Christians we are children of God, He is seated at the gates of our eternal home in Heaven, sits at the
right hand of God, and played a major role and character in the bestselling book and greatest story
ever told. Many centuries have gone by and He still remains the focus and shining light for most of the

Pros And Cons Of Black Men
As the War on Drugs became part of popular culture, it was common to see black men being paraded
across the screen in handcuffs on programs like Cops and even the local news (DuVernay). CBS
increased their coverage of black criminals by 400% (Morton), even though the ratio of black men in
college to those in prison is 4:1 (Morton). Media outlets coined a whole generation of minority
children super predators , and the term was internalized so heavily that black communities supported
policies that criminalized their own children (DuVernay). George Bush sensationalized the image of
Willie Horton, a black criminal, to represent the primitive black rapist image that generated the same
fear and hatred in the beginning of the century (DuVernay). Blacks are unable to alter the way they see
themselves as a result of heavy media influence; the validation of sex (in its many forms) and the
idolization of money marginalize blacks into self loathers. Black men in particular are characterized as

Cry, The Beloved Country, By Alan Paton
In South Africa, the plight of apartheid tore apart communities, families, and individuals. It was a
social concern that came under increasing attack and response as apartheid reached its zenith in the
middle of the 20th century. It was not unlike segregation and the Jim Crow mentality that prevailed in
the United States; with its ancient roots and adverse effects. Indeed, one is curiously reminded of
Harper Lee s well known novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, and its role in trying to formulate an escape
from that system. An escape with various routes, but an escape that interestingly calls back to the
nature of innocence and child like questions. It is in this way that Alan Paton s enduring novel, Cry,
The Beloved Country, takes on a unique and refreshing approach to a basic question: that of the
equality and dignity of all people. Throughout Cry, The Beloved Country, Paton exudes frequent
references to childhood, a devout religiosity, and of course, a return to simple questions; all of which
contribute the idea of innocence and a certain naiveté that contribute significantly to Paton s message.
Extended and found in abundance, the warmth and almost reassurance of children provides a
foundation and almost stronghold throughout the novel. Both of the central characters around who the
story is centralized are old men, but both of them experience a journey that calls to mind the idea that
one is never quite finished growing up. The newness of Kumalo s journey (with both exciting

Negative Effects On Animals In Their Environment
Both countries have experienced polluted waters which have had negative effects on animals in their
environment. For example, in 2007, multiple sea otters were found dead in the Pacific Ocean and a
marine wildlife veterinarian, Melissa Miller, determined that these otters were poisoned by a toxin
called microcystin, which is produced by blue green algae. When fertilizers and human sewage run
into rivers and lakes, these toxins start to appear because nutrients are added that cause the growth of
algae known as super blooms . However, sea otters don t go to the areas these blooms occur in like
polluted rivers and lakes. Miller then did some research and found that super blooms occurred
frequently in a lake, Pinto Lake, that eventually drains into the area of the Pacific Ocean where the
dead otters were found. The toxins were also found to be in shellfish which in a part of the otters main
diet, so after this Miller concluded that the toxin travelled downstream in the ocean from polluted
lakes, where they found their way into shellfish, and eventually ended up killing the otters. A similar
event occurred in South Africa around the same time frame, but this involved crocodiles. Toward the
end of 2008, rangers in the Kruger National Park (KNP) reported that around 170 crocodiles were
found dead in the Olifants river with a similar estimate a year later in 2009. Veterinarians who
performed the autopsies for these crocodiles determined the cause of death to be pansteatitis which is
a disease based on nutrients that paralyzes animals leaving them to drown or starve to death, but it
rarely affects animals in the wild. After some of the veterinarians did more research and analyzed the
crocodiles fat tissue, they discovered that phytoplankton was the source of the high intake of fats in
these crocodiles. However, the crocodiles don t feed on it directly; so they did more research and
found that downstream of the Olifants was Lake Massingir which is known for plankton blooms
because of eutrophication. In the end, the veterinarians came to the conclusion that the silver carp, a
fish that was purposely introduced into Lake Massingir, accidently escaped and found their way to
where these crocodiles

Walt Disney was an inventor as well as an idealistic. Due to the fact, he was also one of the most
successful business leaders of his time. The 10 principles that made Walt Disney became famous and
being the greatest icons of the 20th century are shown below.
Firstly, Walt Disney provides promise instead of product. The legend goes on when Walt Disney was
sitting on a bench while watching his daughters ride a carousel when he came up with the concept of
Disney World. He noticed amusement parks and state fairs were always in bad condition and poorly
organized. Aside from all this bad aspect, the employees were very rude towards the customers. His

detail which causes to forcing projects to go over budget and past deadline because of feeling not
satisfied with the project.
Thirdly,Walt Disney always pursue their passion and believes that their money will flow eventually.
Walt Disney undergo bankrupt more than once, invest everything he had in terms of his own personal
assets in order to build his studio, his films and pursue his dreams. The greater profit one project
produced, the deeper intensity of the next project would be. His vision was constantly devoloping, and
he utilize whatever capital he had to allow that vision to evolve. His films and theme parks were
symbols of love, construct to revolutionize an industry, rather than magnify profits.
Fourthly, Walt Disney always stay true to his values and missions. Walt Disney was famous for
quoting, I hope that we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse. Many years
later, Mickey Mouse is still the main icon of the Disney franchise, defining all the good will and

There are many today who are in search of knowledge and wisdom hoping to find within these

In contrast to knowledge, wisdom is generally considered to be morally good. What makes this
correct? Albert Einstein once said, Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to
acquire it. A process such as gaining wisdom is lengthy and arduous, which teaches the pursuer
patience and humility. Seldom have we found a person who is unchanged by such a trial. When one
finally uncovers insight that they believe to be universally applicable, wisdom or truth, it often
inspires those to make the best of the life they have and use this newly found wisdom to grow and to
build themselves in a way they deem acceptable for themselves.
In Douglas Adam s novel The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, wisdom is subtly spoken of as a topic
of discussion. For example, there is an argument on the subject of whether or not God exists based on
His and man s logic. It states: Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so
mindbogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it
as a final and clinching proof of the non existence of God.
The argument goes something like this: I refuse to prove that I exist, says God, for proof denies faith,
and without faith I am nothing.
But, says Man, the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It
proves you exist, and so therefore by your own arguments, you don t. QED.
Oh dear, says God, I hadn t

Human Rights In The United States
Each individual has their own sets of values and beliefs that they are entitled to, which are different
across different countries. Every country has a type of standard patterned behavior known as norms,
which fluctuates over time. In the United States, there are many different types of norms and societal
needs that vary among cities and states. The norms in the society, includes specific laws that people
follow, which are made by the people themselves. Through those norms are morals, which are beliefs
about the significance of the bad verses desired behavior or the wrong from right. The laws and rights

In international politics power tends to rise above everything else because after the war human rights
became an issue. The idea of human rights comes from moral beliefs and principles, entitled
specifically to individuals. After World War I, nations were still trying to settle down and establish
their powers. At the end of World War II, efforts in attempting to institutionalize and implement new
human rights occurred. The construction of human rights is a global challenge which are trans
regional, nation states cannot resolve on their own, and needs collective action from states. Human
rights are made up of material needs which are a part of the societal needs and moral needs. Some
rights are more universal compared to the others such as slavery, sexual orientation, or persecution.
Culture variation is one factor that changes among different countries. The question here is, how does
human rights relate to international politics? There are several connections between human rights and
international politics. One connection is that states must work together to establish these rights to
create the balance of power for individuals even through the culture differences. Human rights suggest
a universal morality because of the shared ideas of moral principles and the ideas of the natural law. In
discovering the principles to human rights morality was very important during the process because
those principles served as a guide to the society s behavior. The importance of morality in this
situation is states must work together to form these rights for the people to create a balance of power

  • 2. No Secret That Our Educational System Has Flaws It s no secret that our educational system has flaws, and that policymakers are often deeply divided over how to address those flaws. One of the more divisive issues in education today is the creation and implementation of a national set of educational standards, particularly in the subjects of mathematics, science and English. Some people believe that creating a national curriculum and applying it in all schools across the nation will help to improve our educational system; others believe that the argument over national standards is merely distracting from the real problems, and that a common set of standards will not solve any of those issues. I am personally in favor of creating a nation wide standard for education, although I acknowledge that the process of designing and carrying out these changes will present numerous challenges for those to whom the job falls. Still, I believe that a national curriculum would be a step in the right direction. As it stands, states across the country have wildly differing criterion for what their students should be learning and when they should be learning it. Two students, in the same grade, in different schools can be learning completely different things in their classes. This creates problems for parents, students, and teachers in our schools on a number of levels. Firstly, the lack of a national curriculum makes things unnecessarily difficult for families that move around frequently, particularly military families. Children can ... This fact generate a question that, a driver who needs to go fast in his destination and he is seeing a queue of cars ahead of him, he can drive on the left hand side for a short distance as long as no one is coming. According to with traffic laws this is wrong bit in deontologist theory should be the best way to follow. In Virginia, the colonists profited from harvesting tobacco, but they were overridden by diseases and did not have a healthy lifestyle. In New England, there was far less death by diseases and had more middle class residents than the poor servants down South. With Puritan leadership, the colonists had a better worth ethic and kinder values than those in Virginia. Though they fought many bloody wars with the Natives, they were also able to convert many of them. • 16. The Importance Of Toxic Leadership The Corps of the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) has been around since the formation of the Continental Army in 1775. The basic responsibility of the NCO was to fill gaps in the lines and keep soldiers quiet on mission while leading (Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of the NCO focus on soldier welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadership is a serious concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps. What is toxic leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps if it is allowed to continue? Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered attitudes, motivations, and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and mission performance . NCOs, just as civilians, range from poor leaders to excellent leaders; but when does poor leadership become toxic leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not every soldier is born to lead. Some soldiers are bad decision makers, poor time managers, or just unable to inspire confidence in their fellow soldiers. There is nothing wrong with being a follower if you are a competent individual who can perform the given tasks. A NCO who cannot step up and lead is not a toxic leader, they are a bad leader. With education and training NCOs with poor leaderships skills develop into competent leaders. Toxic leadership is a result of narcissistic leaders, individuals who have an ... Acute inflammatory responses are often triggered by trauma or invasive microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, but if well controlled these immune responses may help prevent further damage and assist in body repair processes. On the other hand, prolonged cellular stress caused by certain stimuli such as pollution, poor diet, lack of exercise and other lifestyle factors can cause chronic inflammation, which can lead to premature aging and chronic disease. It is a natural chemical reaction in which a simple sugar or carbohydrate molecule attaches to another bio molecule such as a protein, lipid, or nucleic acid without the help of enzymes. Unlike glycosylation, which is a similar metabolic process that is catalyzed by an enzyme, glycation usually disrupts normal cellular processes and are usually associated with oxidative damage. During glycation process, simple sugars like glucose and fructose act as reducing sugars, which become attached to proteins, nucleic acids or lipids, forming glycation adducts called Schiff base over a few hours. Healthy cells can eliminate these byproducts, but with chronic inflammation, these compounds can rearrange to become more stable compounds called Amadori products. Over months, accumulation of these compounds can lead to a series of chemical reactions that result in irreversible formation of highly stable substances called advanced glycation end products (AGEs). AGEs and Mitochondrial Dysfunction AGEs normally form at slow but constant rates in the cells and may accumulate with time. The accumulation of AGEs occurs when there is an increase in their production and/or a decrease in their elimination. Johnson and Barry Goldwater has strong similarities with the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump. In both cases, the democrat candidates focused more on their counterpart s rhetoric rather than uphold their own ideas in an attempt to persuade voters to support them. This essay will argue that the Democrat candidates of the 1964 and 2016 elections, in many instances, instead of focusing on their political proposals, focused on anti intellectualism by emphasizing their opponent s extremist right winger rhetoric. This comparison shows the enduring trends of right wing extremism, racial conflicts, and republican divisiveness. To prove this argument, this text will analyze Democrat campaign advertisements in both campaigns, Nelson A Rockefeller speech at the 1964 National Republican convention and Jeb Bush interview to NBC. In order to compare these two influential elections, one must first have a firm grasp of the historiography of both elections. The 1964 election was the 45th quadrennial presidential election. It had a lot of controversy around it due to the Republican nomination of politician and businessman Barry M. Goldwater for the president run. On the one side of the picture, the harmony between Wampanoag and Puritans even inspires them to celebrate first Thanksgiving ; while, by contrast, the conflicts between the Pequots and the English urge them to antagonize each other, and even wage a war. In addition, the mystery of why the European settlers, including English, become the dominant power in American world, instead of the indigenous people, or Indians, can be solved from the examination of the relationship. In a variety of ways, the relationship drastically alters how people think about and relate to the aborigines. Politically, the relationship changes to establish the supremacy of the English; the English intends to obtain the land and rules over it. Socially, the relationship changes to present the majority of the English settlers; the dominating population is mostly the English settlers. Economically, the relationship changes to obtain the benefit of the English settlers; they gain profit from the massive resource in America. Throughout history, many historians and scholars have argued upon whether Julius Caesar was a man of great military power and political influence or a man trapped in his own personal weaknesses and complications. Of the many topics of debate, the statement that Julius Caesar is presented as arrogant and dangerous in Act 1 of the play is not, in the writer s opinion, a full perspective of him. Another valid rule of Riskin s seven is to ask for commitment not agreement (Riskin, 2006, p. 30). This rule displays the need that not everyone in the firm has to be 100% on board with the impending change, but everyone has to be committed enough to the firm to go along with the change. This is invaluable advice for legal firms (such that I have experienced) which struggle to achieve change buy in from select partners. With emphasizing the fact that everyone must be on board for what is best for the firm, it allows the reduction or elimination of possible sabotage efforts from people who are resistant to change. I believe that special privileges do not give minorities excessive benefits, and that these privileges also do not infringe upon the rights or lifestyles of the majority. I will prove this through the examination of several aspects of society and nation, including equality, nation building, and identity. These three characteristics of multiculturalism and society will help evidence the justification of minority rights in the face of opposing liberal majority interests. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For most people, identity is intimately tied into their cultural/religious backgrounds. When minorities are denied recognition of their backgrounds for the sake of the majorities comfort, it denies minorities their right to cultural or ethnic identities. Living in a society that has a mainstream culture contrary to one s own lifestyle makes it difficult to embrace your own identity with pride, especially if that society s government does not support your need for rights. As identity is so crucial in a person s good life, it is unjust for a society to deny a person their right to celebrate the practices of their culture or religion. Despite identity being considered a fairly basic right in modern society, it is also where most of the issues surrounding minority rights occur. Giving a group of people the right to practice a religion seems inherently just at first glance, however what happens if the groups beliefs conflict with the liberal majority s concept of human rights? In instances where the beliefs of the minority directly conflict with the goals of the state (to protect its citizens), I believe it is justifiable for the state to step in on behalf of the child s wellbeing. These instances, despite being well known, are not as common as one might think. It is easy to criminalize minorities for specific and rare instances of abuse, but overall it is empirically provable that most minority groups only want special privileges in order to raise their position in society to be equal. It is unusual for cases to be handled without precedents or established systems, but in the case of multiculturalism I think that case to case examinations would be the most effective way to police such crimes in minority groups. • 28. The Language Of Language Teaching Historically, both teachers and researchers have not been interested in pronunciation, as they have usually focused their effort on grammar and vocabulary. Only at the end of nineteenth century, with the Reform Movement in language teaching, pronunciation received systematic attention (Celce Murcia et al. 2010; Terrell 2012). Thenceforth, research on L2 phonological instruction has grown, and, with the advent of the Communicative Approach, questions on the matter shifted from Is it necessary to teach it? to What are the best ways to teach it? With the focus on communication, this approach raised the need to teach both segmental and suprasegmental aspects of the target language in the classroom in order to increase intelligibility and communicability, because, regardless students command of the second language grammar, they may still face communication problems if they fall under a threshold level of nonnative pronunciation (Hinofotis and Bailey, 1980). Despite possible, it is rare for L2 speakers to achieve native like pronunciation (Bongaerts et al. 1997). Therefore, a more modest and realistic goal is to enable learners to surpass the threshold level so that their pronunciation will not detract from their ability to communicate (Celce Murcia et al. 2010). If goals are put in place and there is enough effort and power backing up the motor of these goals, then accomplishing an end to veteran homelessness will occur. This paper will examine the causes of veteran homelessness and how to cease and prevent veteran homelessness from happening and reoccurring. According to the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness, as of 2014, 13.2% of the American population was homeless. Additionally, it was found that another 3.5 million people were strained to finding shelter in parks, under bridges, or sleeping in cars. Of this 13.2%, 23% of those suffering were United States veterans. It was a social concern that came under increasing attack and response as apartheid reached its zenith in the middle of the 20th century. It was not unlike segregation and the Jim Crow mentality that prevailed in the United States; with its ancient roots and adverse effects. Indeed, one is curiously reminded of Harper Lee s well known novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, and its role in trying to formulate an escape from that system. An escape with various routes, but an escape that interestingly calls back to the nature of innocence and child like questions. It is in this way that Alan Paton s enduring novel, Cry, The Beloved Country, takes on a unique and refreshing approach to a basic question: that of the equality and dignity of all people. Throughout Cry, The Beloved Country, Paton exudes frequent references to childhood, a devout religiosity, and of course, a return to simple questions; all of which contribute the idea of innocence and a certain naiveté that contribute significantly to Paton s message. Extended and found in abundance, the warmth and almost reassurance of children provides a foundation and almost stronghold throughout the novel. Both of the central characters around who the story is centralized are old men, but both of them experience a journey that calls to mind the idea that one is never quite finished growing up. The newness of Kumalo s journey (with both exciting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Negative Effects On Animals In Their Environment Both countries have experienced polluted waters which have had negative effects on animals in their environment. For example, in 2007, multiple sea otters were found dead in the Pacific Ocean and a marine wildlife veterinarian, Melissa Miller, determined that these otters were poisoned by a toxin called microcystin, which is produced by blue green algae. When fertilizers and human sewage run into rivers and lakes, these toxins start to appear because nutrients are added that cause the growth of algae known as super blooms . However, sea otters don t go to the areas these blooms occur in like polluted rivers and lakes. Miller then did some research and found that super blooms occurred frequently in a lake, Pinto Lake, that eventually drains into the area of the Pacific Ocean where the dead otters were found. The toxins were also found to be in shellfish which in a part of the otters main diet, so after this Miller concluded that the toxin travelled downstream in the ocean from polluted lakes, where they found their way into shellfish, and eventually ended up killing the otters. A similar event occurred in South Africa around the same time frame, but this involved crocodiles. Toward the end of 2008, rangers in the Kruger National Park (KNP) reported that around 170 crocodiles were found dead in the Olifants river with a similar estimate a year later in 2009. Veterinarians who performed the autopsies for these crocodiles determined the cause of death to be pansteatitis which is a disease based on nutrients that paralyzes animals leaving them to drown or starve to death, but it rarely affects animals in the wild. After some of the veterinarians did more research and analyzed the crocodiles fat tissue, they discovered that phytoplankton was the source of the high intake of fats in these crocodiles. However, the crocodiles don t feed on it directly; so they did more research and found that downstream of the Olifants was Lake Massingir which is known for plankton blooms because of eutrophication. In the end, the veterinarians came to the conclusion that the silver carp, a fish that was purposely introduced into Lake Massingir, accidently escaped and found their way to where these crocodiles ... In contrast to knowledge, wisdom is generally considered to be morally good. What makes this correct? Albert Einstein once said, Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it. A process such as gaining wisdom is lengthy and arduous, which teaches the pursuer patience and humility. Seldom have we found a person who is unchanged by such a trial. When one finally uncovers insight that they believe to be universally applicable, wisdom or truth, it often inspires those to make the best of the life they have and use this newly found wisdom to grow and to build themselves in a way they deem acceptable for themselves. In Douglas Adam s novel The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, wisdom is subtly spoken of as a topic of discussion. For example, there is an argument on the subject of whether or not God exists based on His and man s logic. It states: Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mindbogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non existence of God. The argument goes something like this: I refuse to prove that I exist, says God, for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing. But, says Man, the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore by your own arguments, you don t. QED. Oh dear, says God, I hadn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, cameras are extremely vulnerable if they are connected to the internet and become exposed to malware that could affect not only the device that s attacked, but all other devices that s in the same network. According to the article from ZDNET (175,000 IoT cameras can be remotely hacked thanks to flaw), Chinese manufacturer Shenzen Neo Electronics had two cameras that were discovered to have been vulnerable to cyberattacks that would find loopholes to remotely attack the device and the 175,000 devices connected to it. The construction of human rights is a global challenge which are trans regional, nation states cannot resolve on their own, and needs collective action from states. Human rights are made up of material needs which are a part of the societal needs and moral needs. Some rights are more universal compared to the others such as slavery, sexual orientation, or persecution. Culture variation is one factor that changes among different countries. The question here is, how does human rights relate to international politics? There are several connections between human rights and international politics. One connection is that states must work together to establish these rights to create the balance of power for individuals even through the culture differences.
