Radio Frequency Identification in Warehouse Management
Radio frequency identification in warehouse management
Introduction
Radio Frequency identification involves a small electronic device that has a small chip and antenna.
2,000 bytes of data can be carried by this chip. RFID devices give an object or product its unique
identifier, just in the same way that bar codes and magnetic strips which are placed behind credit,
ATM or debit cards. The data stored on the chip is only accessible when on scans the device and then
the information is captured on the computer. Though one needs to scan the RFID device to gain access
to the data, it is not mandatory that one places the scanner directly beside the chip. The chips can be
read from approximately 20 feet as it does not use line of sight. This gives RFID a greater advantage
over the other methods for automated data collection. RFID use radio waves to transmit a signal that
can be read by a reader thus enabling the chip to transmit information to the scanner which then
converts the data to machine readable information(Taghaboni Dutta Velthouse, 2006).
RFID devices can be semi passive, active, or passive. Passive devices are powered when
electromagnetic waves are sent to it thus inducing electric current to the devices antenna. Semi passive
devices use battery and waves that are sent from the scanner. Active devices use batteries to power the
chip in order for it to broadcast a signal to the scanner. Semi passive and active devices are mostly
used for goods that need to be scanned

Doppelgänger In Gothic Novels
The metaphor of the doppelgänger in Gothic Novels may refer to 19th century social fears of
insecurities, especially regarding the rules of the classes for decency and politeness and the innovation
of science. When focusing on Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Stevenson as well as The
Picture of Dorian Gray by Wilde, the evolution of the literary double may be explained by the social
situation of Victorian England (cf. Duren 2). Men were not only born into being a gentleman, but they
had to adhere to certain moral restrictions. These guidelines meant to repress instincts and emotions in
favour of a norm accepted by society. Victorians divided strictly into right and wrong and everything
differing from the norm was considered improper. The fulfilment of desires was considered as a
weakness and hence, needed to be repressed. Maintaining a man s reputable image before his
fellowmen was of great importance, though at the same time, one had to deal with contrary feelings,
generally considered as improper or even immoral. Hence, men were in need to repress these emotions
for the appreciation of their fellow gentlemen. One had to follow the moral guidelines of the times,
especially when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stories and novels are not set in distant places or foreign countries (except Frankenstein). From the
19th century onwards, the novels are often situated in England of that time. Thus, it is suggested that
readers should reflect on the stories, placing them in the context of their own country, while also
relating to their own mindset. These new ideas are both shown in Robert Louis Stevenson s Strange
Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Gray, both of which were
written at the end of the century, often referred to as Gothic Revival. However, one of the very first
examples of duality is presented in Mary Shelley s

Why College Should Go To College
Most kids in elementary school believe that they will go to college and become whatever they want,
all they have to do is choose what they want to be, some choosing between a police man, lawyer or
doctor. However things are not as simple as we were told as kids and nowadays people are wondering
if they should even go to college. The increased cost of debt in student loans are one of the main
reasons why people are weary of going to college. People believe that college is a waste of time and
money, however I believe the opposite and that college is the best way to have a financially successful
future as well as become a productive member of society.
While one may argue that there are many billionaires without college degrees like Bill Gates and Mark
Zuckerberg they should also take into account that they both briefly attended Ivy League schools and
that their success stories are an extremely rare occurrence. On average a high school degree can only
get you an annual salary of about $35,000 while a bachelor s degree can get you an annual salary of
around $65,000. The fact that in 4 years you can double your annual income should be enough
evidence that college is where you should go after high school. Along with getting more pay a college
education also provides you with networking. In college you meet your fellow co workers and
business partners that may help you get your next job, and professors who are professionals in their
field and provide you with contacts and letters of

Yearning For Home In The Odyssey
In Homer s epic The Odyssey, our hero Odysseus experiences a yearning for home after being away
for nearly 20 years. This theme of yearning for home is displayed in Ed Sheeran s Photograph , with
lyrics telling the story of someone who is away from home and is missing their lover, just as Odysseus
is missing Penelope. In the song, Ed Sheeran sings Loving can hurt sometimes... But it is the only
thing that keeps us alive. This represents how Odysseus is plagued by his longing and love for his
family but this love is also what motivates him to persevere through his difficulties in order to come
back home. The song also soulfully states that We keep this love in a photograph. We made these
memories for ourselves. This shows that Odysseus only has memories left ... Show more content on

He ends up escaping with six fallen crewmates. In Viva la Vida Coldplay sings about a king who
seems to have been thrown from his position and is also in a tight spot against his rebelling people.
Similarly to the king in the song, King Odysseus has to face a troubling situation where there is little
hope of escaping with his own life, much less his crew s. In contrast to the song, Odysseus is forced to
face the giant Polyphemus s wrath, rather than his disciples. As Odysseus watches his crew die one by
one before him, the song speaks of their castle standing on pillars of salt, pillars of sand. This reflects
how Odysseus is slowly watching the situation crumble out of his control, just like how pillars of salt
of sand crumble because they lack structural support. Correspondingly, Odysseus and his crew are
unfamiliar with the giants cave, making this situation even more unnerving and difficult for Odysseus,
which relates to how the king in the song has his missionaries in a foreign field. This shows how
similar Odysseus is in relation to the fallen king in the

Case Study On Maggi
Case on Maggi
Summary
Think about noodles and the first name comes to the mind is: Maggi. At one point of time, it had a
market share of 90%. But, in June 2015, it was reported that tests found high amounts of lead and
MSG in Maggi noodles, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ordered country wide
withdraw and recall for all the variants of Maggi Instant Noodles and Oats Masala Noodles. What will
Nestlé do to bring Maggi back and gain the trust of the consumers in Maggi, once again?
This case discusses the various phases in the life cycle of Maggi noodles in India. It talks about the
various strategies employed by NIL to keep the Maggi brand fresh in the minds of Indian consumers
and how Maggi can bounce back and take back its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That trust will take a knock, but on balance, the brand has done well enough to deserve a second
chance, if it handles the current crisis with utmost honesty and transparency. NIL, during the tough
time, took the help of social media to keep connected with the consumers. And the reaction and
support by the consumers was overwhelming. People still ask when Maggi will be back and they can
enjoy it all over again. People share a lot of memories with Maggi and in order to relive those
moments, they want Maggi to be back.
All these things confirms the strong consumer loyalty for the Maggi noodles. It will not be very
surprising that Maggi again gained its original market share in a short time once it comes back on the
shelves. The need of the hour is to take the right path to reach the consumers. This will be done by
taking the help of promotions and keeping the consumers connected and updated of the latest
developments in bringing Maggi back to stores.
In 2003, when worms were found in some Cadbury chocolate bars in Maharashtra, the company had
to undertake a high profile marketing campaign, change its outer packaging and provide explanations
to the consumers and the government before its brand perception was restored.
In August, tests performed by the US health regulator FDA showed no presence of dangerous lead
levels in the products.

Personal Theory
Alfred Adler was born in 1870 in Austria and developed his own theory on Individual Psychology in
1912. Adler s theory is closely related to Humanistic Psychology. Influenced by Freud, Smuts and
Vaihinger, Adler based his theory on the client s ability to live as a fully functioning adult in society.
Adler s holistic theory views each person as unified. Adler discussed birth order personality traits.
Adler s theory also discussed the roles therapists should take and the techniques that should be used in
Individual Psychology therapy sessions.
A major difference in Adlerian psychology compared to Freudian is the client is viewed as lacking
courage, instead of being mentally ill in Freud s theory. Adler s belief, that a person s consciousness is
the center of their personality differed from Freud s belief. (Wood, 2004). Adler agreed with Freud
that gratification is a central need but Adler goes on to also imply that clients have needs for power,
security, self esteem, achievement and social welfare. Day (2008) emphasizes that people can decide
how to state their needs, but may not be able to be in charge of their needs.
Furthermore, Adler had different viewpoints regarding

My Family And I Have Recently Moved At St. Louis
My family and I have recently moved to St. Louis and we could not be more excited about starting our
new life. We had always hoped to visit the Gateway to the West one day, but we never imagined ever
living here permanently. This move could not have happened at a more perfect time either, with St.
Louis playing host to the World s Fair in a matter of years, there is plenty of work to be done and
numerous job options at any time. The potential for work has driven my family to the ends of the
Earth it seems. My parents emigrated from Germany in 1873 and quickly found their way across the
country to New Ulm, Minnesota, where I was born eight years later on 23 July 1881. New Ulm was a
decent place to raise a family, but as I was growing older and our family kept growing larger, my
parents had to make the decision to stay in small yet familiar New Ulm, or head south to the more
promising yet unknown city of St. Louis. St. Louis was said to be a booming area, a great place to find
work, and it even came with its own German sector in the neighborhood of Soulard. With this
information in mind we packed our bags and headed towards uncertainty with only the dream of a
more prosperous future nudging us forward. Upon reaching the city and making our way towards our
fellow German emigrates, we quickly found living quarters which we shared with another family that
came in the week before us. Of the nine of us in the apartment, four were old enough to work, and
work we did. With the

The American Dream Of Home Ownership
Too many Americans have fallen victim to the crisis that has become the norm for our citizens these
days. Lenders no longer want to work with individuals who have gone through the foreclosure process
and for many it is not only their homes they lose. Some have lost their jobs and/or families, others fall
into a deep depression and worst of all some have taken their own lives. An alternative would be for
lenders to add a true customer service department which is not based on pay or get out, but is
counseling based to keep Americans in the American Dream of home ownership. This would not only
keep their customers for future business with new home loans, but would be noticed by neighbors and
the community who are appreciative their home values are not decreasing. The lenders would counsel
them through the sale by assisting them with getting the most they can for their home. By getting local
community organizations involved to help with home repairs and curb appeal. Once the home is
market ready and a dollar amount has been reached for these repairs the home owner will have to
volunteer time and/or resources to assist another person going through the same situation. This would
not only help the homeowner but will keep homes in the area selling at a fair market value and not
bring down the values in their neighborhood. The assistance provided by the lenders and assistance
from the community will help build their self confidence and make them feel like they are not alone.

U.s. Foreign Exchange Market
If you ever traveled to a foreign country preferably outside the tourist traps and spent money, you
probably had to exchange your domestic money for local currency. Regardless of where you made
such a trade, such as at a currency exchange kiosk when you landed at the airport, the fact that you
successfully transacted two, completely distinct currencies related by an exchange rate means that you
were, for the briefest of moments, a participant in the nearly $4 trillion a day foreign exchange market,
or forex. But it is unlikely that such a gargantuan turnover is the appreciable result of money changing
by spendthrift globetrotters. Rather, in today s globalized economy, any institution, from a small
export business to a central bank, is liable to have a hand in the currency and therefore the purchasing
power of a foreign country. While the foreign exchange market may seem like a complicated world of
arcane finance, it is not only possible for you to actively participate in it, but there is a highly
developed infrastructure of individual or retail forex trading ready for your attempts to turn a profit
from besting the ever changing exchange rate between currencies. While a professional
comprehension of forex trading entails far more practical and conceptual knowledge than this process
paper can capture, good preparation and a methodical understanding of the fundamentals of forex
practices can help you develop the basic skills to get started in retail forex trading.

Cream Vs Ointment

What is the meaning of sustained release on medication bottle?
Oxford University Press Dictionary tells us that sustained release means denoting a drug preparation
in a capsule containing numerous tiny pellets with different coatings that release their contents steadily
over a long period.(OxfordLivingDictionary,2017)
What is the difference between a cream and an ointment?
A cream is a semisolid and comes in both aqueous and oily bases. It absorbs into the skin. An example
would be benzoyl perioxide. The ointment is similar to a cream, but it does absorb into the skin it
protects it locally. It can have soothing, astringent, or systemic effects. An example of an ointment

Analysis Of The Central Themes From Shakespeare s Henry Iv
What is honor? That question is one of the central themes from Shakespeare s Henry IV. Throughout
the play Shakespeare provides many different views of honor, but never directly states what honor is.
Which makes sense because honor is a rather abstract concept that seems to vary depending on who
states their opinion. There are some universal ideas of honorable deeds but the word itself is rarely
defined by individuals. Two of the characters within the play have very different ideas of honor and
vary greatly in their desire for it. They are Hotspur and Falstaff, Hotspur appears to have a very clear
idea of what honor is and he pursues honor with great fervor. However, Falstaff questions the very
existence of honor and has little to no desire for it. The ideas of Falstaff and Hotspur about honor are
vastly different.
Falstaff and Hotspur differ significantly in their idea of honor. Hotspur believes honor is all about
glory and being the center of attention. While Falstaff is only certain that the dead have honor but is
unsure about what it is as described by this excerpt of his soliloquy, No. What is honour? . Hotspur
believes that honor is derived from epic or heroic deeds, these deeds tends to be very physical in
nature such as the honor gained from battle. Bravery and the acts associated with it is an additional
font from which honor can flow freely. This is described by the line, O the blood more stirs To rouse a
lion than to start a hare. It s clearly much more

Youth Environmental Stewardship Paper
Introduction
The Youth Environmental Stewardship program is a one of the programs of Rural Action, in which
students learn diverse nature and its ecosystem directly through the camp. According to Browne,
Garst, and Bialeschki (2011), environmental stewardship, in general, is a multisided idea to make
people consider the environment with eco friendly beliefs (p.74). Also, they mentioned (2011) that
environmental experiences in childhood strongly influence and even determine their attitudes toward
nature (p.74). In the program, Rural Action manages two types of weekly camp for children every

administrators often struggle to implement camp activities precisely as planned (p. 81). For example,
when they have planned to explore watershed but had flood in the day before the camp, they need to
avoid it because they must ensure the safety of all the participants. As they utilize ever changing

unpredictable weather influences harmfully their activities

Virtue Ethics Vs. Sentimentalist Virtue
Virtue Ethics vs. Sentimentalist Virtue Ethics Virtue Ethics is defined as any character based approach
to normative ethics that emphasizes some conception virtues and vices; often including a universal
conception of human flourishing (Blakley, Christopher). Aristotle and David Hume developed
accounts of ethics that remained true to their own empirical philosophies; both of which stray away
from the more traditional accounts. Their opposing theories contain the overall theme of how a
virtuous person would live their life. In contrast, David Hue developed his own account of
sentimentalist virtue ethics that challenges, or pushes back on, the virtue ethics Aristotle. According to
Aristotle, we should be virtuous people, and therefore perform virtuous acts. Instead of talking about
particular actions and the rules according to which they are undertaken, then, Aristotle requires us to
look at virtues, or qualities of character. Aristotle s teachings emphasize more on character traits rather
than rules or obligations. Moral agency is not merely a matter of which rules to follow, but a whole
way of life. It requires a unity of thought and feeling, which is characteristic of what Aristotle, called
virtue (Boetzkes and Waluchow, p. 23). What is a virtue, and what is the virtuous life? Aristotle s
definition is cited as a state of character concerned with choice, lying in a mean, i.e., the mean relative
to us, this being determined by rational principle, that principle by

The Pros And Cons Of Mentoring
Introduction
Merriam Webster defines mentoring as process where a more knowledgeable individual imparts
knowledge and experience to a less experienced individual (Mentoring (n.d). In Merriam Webster).
Mentoring is an effective way to assist and encourage teachers to direct their own learning so that they
are able to realize their potential, enhance their skills, and become the teacher that they desire to be
(Hudson 2013). There are a few differences that occur between mentoring and coaching. Firstly
coaching is short term and usually lasts for a brief period of time or for a few sessions (Stowers Barker
2010). Mentoring is long term and can span over a longer period of time, usually for a year (Stowers
Barker 2010). Another difference that occurs when refereeing to mentoring and coaching is that
coaching is driven by performance, and the purpose for this is to improve the individual s job
performance (Clutterbuck 2008). Mentoring is focused on development the reason for implementing
it, is to improve the individual for the current job as well for the future (Clutterbuck 2008). This paper

The lack of time allocated to the mentoring process is an issue of concern. This often may occur
because too much of the time has been spent on other tasks such as paperwork, rather than reflecting
or discussing about the progress, areas of concern or issues that have arisen (Lofthouse Thomas,
2014). Another issue that often arises is the various roles that the mentor may hold. According to
Lofthouse and Thomas, (2014), the various roles that a mentor has and the expectations of each role
that they are expected to perform in, may affect the amount of mentoring time available to the mentee.
This will often leave the mentee feeling frustrated as they will need to wait, or may not get the
opportunity to discuss issues that may be experiencing (Lofthouse Thomas,

Morality in Ethan Frome Essay examples
Morality in Ethan Frome In The Morality of Inertia, Lionel Trilling argues that Ethan Frome s
inability to make his own ethical decisions ultimately makes his smash up a tragic event caused by the
inactivity of morality. The nonexistence of this moral inertia is the explanation, for Trilling, for the
outcome of Frome; the lack of moral responsibility in any of the main characters from the beginning
of their lives paralyzes their decision making process they simply exist and do what is their duty.

Although Frome can be held responsible for his moral inactivity, he can be considered a morally
inadequate man in his present state. His inadequacy, however, was not a constant in life or a sudden

experiences in a university and the joy it brought him was quickly interrupted after a year by his sickly
parents. The unfortunate circumstance forces Ethan Frome to move back to the depressing Starkfield
he had just escaped. His parents illnesses bring along Zenobia, who would be another future, unseen

and he is critically injured. Although jinxed with unfortunate circumstances, Ethan Frome s life could
have been bettered if one small step or action was taken by him for himself with the intention to create
personal joy or pleasure. The importance of taking steps in life betterment can be seen in Ethan

If you were recently involved in an accident, and your rear quarter panel on your vehicle was
damaged, here is a quick breakdown of the work that is going to be involved in order to repair and fix
your rear quarter panel if it was badly dented.
Accessing The Rear Quarter Panel
Generally, the first thing that an auto body shop will do is make sure that they have access to your
entire rear quarter panel so they can assess the degree of damage to it. On most cars, part of the rear
quarter panel is actually not visible. In order to examine the entire rear quarter panel, often times the

If they had to remove your bumper or tail light in order to access the rear quarter panel, than they will
have to put them back on your vehicle. This entire process can take a couple of hours to achieve.
Paint The Panel
When you have work done on your rear quarter panel, the auto body shop is most likely going to need
to remove the paint from your vehicle to fix the damage. That means they are going to have to put
primary on your rear quarter panel, paint it, and then seal it. In order to get the new paint to blend in
with the old paint on your vehicle, they will most likely use a blending technique. This technique
requires them to spray new paint onto the areas around your rear quarter panel, such as your door and
bumper, in order to blend the paint and make the paint job look smooth.
Check For Mechanical Damage
After all of the body work is done, the auto body shop will then drive your vehicle and make sure that

Islam Is A Religion Of Islam Essay
Islam is one of the oldest religions in the world, and with that has one of the biggest populations of
followers and worshipers. However, it is also a very misunderstood religion. Muslims are extremely
religious people, and they strictly follow the Qur an, however in the past there have been incidences,
in which Arabs have done harm. These acts of few had a negative impact on the lives of many. After
these events terroristic events took place, non Muslims began to fear all Arabs and target them as
terrorists because of the false belief that all Arabs are Muslim, and Islam is a warlike religion. Being
afraid of the religion and its followers, Westerners became afraid of all Arabs and others from the
Middle East, targeting and stereotyping them as terrorists because of how they look. Being afraid of
these people and their religion, the Western countries termed all Middle Eastern countries and the
religion of Islam as terroristic and violent, reasoning that Islam promotes violence and killing. Further,
when events of women being burned with acid by men in some Middle Eastern countries for refusing
marriage, wanting to get educated or not wearing a hijab properly, people of western countries began
speculations that women are oppressed, mistreated, and forced to wear hijabs and burqas. The people
who are not familiar with Islam, and do not know anything about the religion, knowing about these
events, and being influenced by media, put the blame for these events on the religion,

Using Wireless Sensor Network Systems
Introduction
A typical manufacturing factory is facing problems in computerizing their systems. To computerize
hundreds of electronic machines in a work area, the network or networking is the main priority. The
Industrial wireless technologies and standards used by plants can improve plant efficiency, safety,
security, and productivity. Wireless drastically changes the economics of the financial investments in
the new technology with its lower implementation costs and total cost of ownership and rapid return
on investment. Mainly the wireless networking is used to save cost of installation and the flexibility
when relocating equipment. Manufacturing organizations and their production operations want to use
the newer standard networking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Honeywell technology leads the way with their Hart and One Wireless Networks. They use asset
management solutions to provide customers with ultimate flexibility. Honeywell brings immediate
benefits to the industry by cost effectiveness, empowering a mobile workforce, plant security with
wireless cameras and connects remote controllers to the central control systems (3). Honeywell has
always offered free and simple access to application upgrades from their websites (4). Its technology
has been implemented from the field to the control room. The one wireless device has a self
discovering and self organizing managed and secure wireless field instrument mesh network. They
talk to each other and bridge the wireless network together. They use the IEEE 802.11 standard that
increases the network performance and improve air quality. The instruments in the field send data
through neighboring instruments back to the gateway device. This is used for non critical monitoring
and they do not require a fast update rate. The more the instruments the faster the update rate, this
could be as fast as one a second. There is a pitfall to these devices and that is battery life, but this can
be alleviated with adding more access points. Most of the time users get three years battery life from
their field instruments while using a one second update rates.

Cement, Neopolymer and Similar Compositions
2. Conventional cement
The function of cement is for isolating production zone and to provide support for the casing
[11].Portland cement is made up of calcium oxide (CaO), silicon dioxide (SiO) and water (H2O)
which the composition of calcium carbonate is around 75 80 wt% and 20 25 wt% of clay [7],[14]..
Compressive strength of Portland cement is developed through hydration. Hydration is chemical
reaction between water and cement compound. The rheology and early strength of cement is
developed from reaction of aluminate compound at the beginning of hydration. Rate of hydration can
be control by adding gypsum. It is for preventing the premature hardening of cement. Gypsum will
react with aluminate and hydroxyl ion to form ettrigate. Ettrigate will prevent hydration process by
forming needle shaped crystal on the aluminate and creating induction period [11].
Some addictive can be added to the cement to enhance the properties of cement. There are accelerator,
retarder, extender, weighting agent, dispersant, fluid loss control agent and loss circulation agent [11].
Accelerator Use to speed up the early stages of hydration. Applicable in shallow well.
Retarder Inhibit hydration and slow the setting time of cement. Applicable in deep well.
Extender Reduce slurry density, thus reduce the hydrostatic pressure during cementing operation.
Extender use to prevent break down and loss of circulation of weak formation.
Weighting agent Increase cement density by adding high

Coal Mining Is Destroying The Economy
From 2011 to 2014, five thousand eight hundred coal mining jobs have been stopped for a period of
time or closed for good. Coal is a black or dark brown combustible mineral substance consisting of
carbonized vegetable matter, used as fuel for energy. That energy is for heating something or creating
electricity. Coal is a very important resource; it provides billions of people with heat for their homes,
electricity for lights, great paying jobs, and many other things.
The fall of coal is not only killing jobs, it is also killing the economy. Coal is losing the market. Coal

The Dark Ages And The Fall Of The Middle Ages
The Middle Ages or Medieval Ages is the time period in Europe between the fall of Rome and the
beginning of the Renaissance (History). For this paper it will be referred to as the Middle Ages. This
time is also sometimes described as the Dark Ages by some because of some of the bad events that
happened and because they say nothing of importance came out of the time period. It is true Rome
fell, there were many wars which caused many to die, a shortage of food that caused many to die and
an awful sickness that caused many people to die. Despite The Great Famine, The Plague and the fall
of Rome during the medieval time period, it should not be known as the dark ages due to the
architecture, art, and both educational and the technological advancements that came to be during this
time.
Was it the invasions of the Barbarian tribes, economic troubles, disputes on slave labor,
overexpansion, the military problems, government corruption, political instability, or the spread of
Christianity that took down the Rome Empire (History)? Many different reasons with many different
answers, however, the Roman Empire did fall and we were left with what we call the Middle Ages.
There have been many movies, books and papers written on the subject. One thing I find is a for sure
fact is that after the fall of Rome there was no state or government for the people in Europe and that s
how the Catholic Church became the most powerful institution in the Middle Age time
period(History).

Kenneth C. Davis s Don t Know About History
Kenneth C. Davis, the author of Don t Know Much about History, claimed that the true discoverers of
America were the people whose cultures and societies were well established here while Europe was
still in the Dark Ages, the so called Indians. For all the diversity of the First Americans, they inherited
certain common traits from their old world ancestors. Reflecting their Asiatic heritage, they were
generally short to medium stature, with straight black hair, light brown skin, had epicanthic fold, and
prominent cheek bones features that in 1492 reinforced Columbus mistaken conviction that he had
reached the East Indies and prompted him to assign to the inhabitants the inaccurate yet enduring title
of Indians.
Indians arrived in America some 30,000 to 40,000 years ago. Archeological findings and Radiocarbon
testing suggested that the prehistoric people who populated the Americas were hunters following the
herds of wooly mammoths. They walked from Siberia across a land bridge into Alaska. They headed
south toward warmer climates, slaughtering the mammoths as they went. As the glaciers melted, the
oceans rose and covered this land bridge, creating the present day Bering Strait and separating Alaska
from Russia. By the time Christopher Columbus arrived, they were millions of what might be called
First Americans or Amerindians occupying the two continents of Americas. The first noted
documentation of the Beringia theory of the peopling of North America was by Jose de

definitions of what they believe is right verse wrong. It is obvious that society throughout the years
has had a wide spectrum of what we believe is sin and what is not. These different lenses can be
altered by several factors such as how a person was raised, their culture, and also their personal
religious beliefs. It is essential that we learn to not understand others perspective but to also respect
their perspectives as well. The structure of Dante s Hell in the Inferno is very complex and detailed.

The woodland caribou are in trouble all across Alberta; from a population of 7000 9000, there are
approximately 3000 animals left! At our period of time, the woodland caribou are listed under
threatened and under the Species at Risk Act . These animals need to be protected, or as a result
extinction of the caribou is certain. The boreal forest is a spacious and safe habitat where the
woodland caribou can find necessary items for them to not only survive, but to thrive. As a result of
the rapidly decreasing caribou population our forests are also suffering. The caribou take care of the
forests and because of this, our forests are able to provide us with several mandatory supplies. If the
woodland caribou population decrease, the result is that the forests will not be able to sequester the

ENTREPRENEURIAL DIFFICULTIES IN BANGLADESH
ABSTRACT
Bangladesh is a developing nation with a lot of constraints and difficulties for entrepreneurs. One of
the primary difficulties that entrepreneurs face is raising capital. Finding out what types of difficulties
entrepreneurs face in raising capital, and how the government and private sector can help to eliminate
them, is the subject of this report. This report is an attempt to critically evaluate and review the current
problems of acquiring for entrepreneurs. The government itself has not shown ... Show more content

A venture firm could help facilitate that, it could act as an intermediary for both the entrepreneur and
the investors.
Another absence is that of private equity firms in Bangladesh. A private equity firm an investment
manager that makes investments in the private equity of operating companies through a variety of
loosely affiliated investment strategies including leveraged buyout, venture capital, and growth
capital. This firm only invests in private firms by pooling resources in return for management fees and
share in profits.
Then we do not have any angel investors, which may be hoping for too much in this nation. Angel
investors invest in a business in return for controlling ownership or convertible loan, they usually keep
themselves anonymous to the entrepreneur. They are usually retired entrepreneurs or executives. Their
purpose is never completely monetary, they like to keep themselves occupied in the current business
scene, or guide new entrepreneurs or apply their experience in the new businesses. One may put it in
the Self Actualization part of Maslow s Hierarchy theory.
There are no government loan programs to support these entrepreneurial startups. If any organization
could afford to take on high risk ventures then it is the government. But sadly the government takes no
such initiative.
The Solutions
The first actor that needs to take actions is the government. It needs to make policies and provide
opportunities. One policy it can make is that it

Summary Of All The Light We Cannot See
One hundred and twenty one years before Anthony Doerr published All the Light We Cannot See,
Oscar Wilde wrote, There are moments when one has to choose between living one s own life, fully,
entirely, completely or dragging out some false, shallow, degrading existence that the world in its
hypocrisy demands. This sentiment could be a summary of All The Light We Cannot See. It could
easily be translated into the words repeatedly uttered in Doerr s Pulitzer Prize winning novel: Open
your eyes and see what you can with them before they close forever. To open the eyes is to live fully.
To leave them closed is to live that shallow, degrading existence the world demands and often
rewards. The world is not just. When the choice that is right contradicts the world s desires, to live
fully is to live a life of risk. Anthony Doerr s characterization of Werner illustrates this divide between
the right choice and the easy choice, and how when it matters most, they rarely overlap.
From childhood we were shown Werner s individuality. His striking white hair, the color of his eyes,
even his love of knowledge showed he was different. He made the choice to pursue his passion for
mechanics when it was harmless, but when the world comes knocking at the orphanage door, bringing
in a vice minister and his wife, it is the first time in his life where the easier choice of compliance is
separated from the right choice of the individual. Werner sits in silence when his passion, the thing

Coral Reef Impact
According to NOAA a coral reef is a ridge of rock in the sea formed by the growth and deposit of
coral. Stony coral polyps secrete a calcium carbonate skeleton that over many years builds up to create
the foundation which all coral lives on. These limestone remains are the building blocks for coral
colonies supporting millions of polyps which can weigh several tons. Having said that, coral reefs
grow very slowly about 0.5cm 2cm per year, meaning that all damage and death coral colonies
experience will take a long time to repair. (NOAA 2)
Humans tendency to live near the ocean can have substantial negative consequences on the reef. Water
quality decreases due to sewage leakage, agricultural run off and other types of groundwater pollution.

Garage Door
How to test the balance of a garage door If you are having trouble with the garage door opening and
closing, it may be due to a problem with springs. When the springs are properly adjusted, the door is
balanced and can be opened easily with the garage door opener or manually. It is recommended that
you check the balance of the garage door at least once a year, especially if it is typically operated with
an opener. There are no tools required to test the balance, but if it isn t balanced correctly, to avoid
possible severe injuries call a professional to do the repairs. What Are Garage Door Springs? There
are many different parts that work together to make your garage door operate correctly, but the springs
play an extremely important role. The goal of the springs is to counteract the doors force of gravity,
which means the door spring is meant to make the door light enough for you to lift on your own

What Is The Role Of Women In 1860
During this time, employment for women consisted largely of domestic services and school teaching.
Women such as Catharine Beecher and Emma Willard were woman educators. They spent a majority
of their time building schools and promoting female education. Educated women were more likely to
seek public influence than less educated. During the antebellum, school teachers were involved in
more visible public roles and traveled west. This was not without a great deal of courage. In the
eighteenth century, women traveled but not often of this distance and not often on their own. Some of
the dangers included drunk men or her own conduct being open to criticism. By 1860, more than sixty

The Ideology Of Planned Parenthood
The Ideology of Planned Parenthood Prolife or prochoice? This is the debate that seems ongoing for
as long as I can remember yet seems to have risen in intensity over the years. We have more recently
seen things in the news about defunding Planned Parenthood and there always seems to be protestors
on the streets no matter where you go screaming at you their point of view. This essay will focus
around the ideology of Planned Parenthood as an organization. Why would people dislike an
organization so open to the idea of a human s right to choose what happens in their own body? I
would like to look at both viewpoints of this argument because even though I have my own beliefs I
have always been very intrigued in others as well. While I could easily write a paper simply on prolife
or prochoice I want to go deeper than that into this well known, and well argued topic. I will mainly
focus on the defunding argument of the organization as well as what they stand for as a whole and
what will happen if they no longer exist. The most recent debate to hit the news has been the defund
Planned Parenthood vote done by the House of Representatives which passed by a close vote of 240

Essay On Social Justice By John Rawls
Thomas Hobbes famously said that in the state of nature , human life would be solitary, poor, nasty,
brutish and short . Without law and order, everyone would have the freedom to do as they pleased and
thus lead to anarchy; there would be an endless war of all against all. To avoid this, free men made
contracts with each other to establish political communities i.e. civil society through a social contract
in which they all gain security Harvard professor, John Rawls, was a catalyst for the rebirth of social
contract philosophy in modern times. In his book A Theory of Justice (1972). He outlines two different
principles for justice as fairness, the liberty principal and the difference principal. Although many
philosophers discredit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the second part of the work, Rawls considers the implications of his view of justice for social
institutions. He discusses in detail equal liberty, economic distribution, and duties and obligations as
well as the main characteristics of each that would make up a just society. He does not, however,
identify any particular type of social or political system that would be consistent with his theory. He
deals only with the demands that his version of justice places on institutions. In the third and final
section, Rawls deals with ends or ultimate goals of thinking about social justice. (JF, 274 278) He
argues for the need to have a theory of goodness, and he makes a case for seeing goodness as
rationality. Then, he turns to moral psychology and considers how people acquire a sentiment of
justice. Finally, he examines the good of justice, or how justice is connected to goodness. Rawls
argues that in a well ordered society, ideas of goodness and justice must be consistent with each

`` Defiance `` By Edward Zwick
Based on a true story, Defiance, directed by Edward Zwick, is an extraordinary and insightful tale
about the lives of three brothers that take refuge in the woods for survival against the Nazis. In the
beginning, their main goal was to keep alive by also avenging the deaths of their parents, however as
the movie progresses, their mission turns into something far more bigger. They began to find other
Jews who come hoping to join them in their quest for survival, while looking to them as their leaders.
The film entails only a few scenes of their battles against the Nazis, and the drama of the story tends to
be focused on the conflicts and romances that arise within the Jews. The brothers are Tuvia Bielski,
Zus Bielski, and Asael. Tuvia and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I enjoyed the fact that the setting of the story is different unlike other movies. Instead of it being
fixated on the lives of the Jews living in concentration camps or the ghettos, there setting takes place
outside in the forest where they have to take on even more problems and adapt themselves to nature s
environment. The Jews had to start from the bottom, but eventually they created an efficient and
resilient community. They were forced to build shelters out of material such as wood and tree stems
found in the forest. The refugees organized leadership roles by the various skills of the Jews. Most
were skilled craftsmen, artisans, and laborers, but soon became fighters and soldiers, gun cleaners, and
shoemakers. Women were deemed the task of preparing the meals, and keeping up with the children.
They also had the impossible task of having to find weapons and ammunition to survive.
Along with their environmental situations, the Jews were faced with the problem of lack of food. With
their group continuously growing, they turned to stealing food from other farmers in the area. This
was a good plan at first, however they had to take the chance that the farmers would tell the Germans
about their encounters. At some point, food was so scarce that people became tumultuous towards one
another. You could see how humans reacted when put under these unthinkable situations. Men started
to become greedy, and thought of themselves as having

The Dishonest In Kurt Vonnegut s The Lie
Lying is done with words, and also with silence. Adrienne Rich had once said. That means or shows us
that you can tell a lie even when you don t say something when you should be speaking up about it. In
the story, The Lie, by Kurt Vonnegut, Eli lies by not speaking up while his father, Dr. Remenzel, lies
with words straight in front of others. This is where the theme of being dishonest can turn out to
become a bigger problem than you may have expected shows many times within the story.
In the story, The Lie, being dishonest can turn out to become a bigger problem than you may have
expected to come your way. This theme surfaces before the story began, when Eli finds the letter of
admission to Whitehill School, the exclusive prep school ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After hearing this news Dr. Remenzel and Silvia split up trying to solve two different things. Trying to
get him admitted into Whitehill and trying to understand their son for what he did. The theme of being
dishonest making problems turn out bigger than you may have expected comes in when Dr. Remenzel
is trying to complete his task; getting him admitted into the school without a scholarship or admittance
approval. This is the main part of his lie while even more happened at the start of the story. Dr.
Remenzels lie starts at the beginning story while the are being taken to the Whitehill. For example, ...
that you are not to ask for anything special for Eli not anything. said Dr. Remenzel to Sylvia. That is
part of his lie because Dr. Remenzel had repeatedly stated that they didn t want anything special
because they were just like everyone else and not entitled to more. But later on, we find out the true
self of him. We find out that he has always wanted to make the Remenzel cycle go on because he
thought he was special. At the end, Eli was almost infuriated with his father for trying to get him

Interpretation of Muir s Horses Essay
Interpretation of Muir s Horses
My interpretation of Edwin Muir s poem entitled Horses is one of a past memory and the conflict and
anger brought about by this memory , a conflict between light and darkness, good and evil in the mind
of a elderly dying man, fearing death as he gazes out across a field. The memory being that of a day
from his past, where he as a child farm worker watched a team of horses ploughing the stubble back
into the field during a rainy day which gets progressively more stormy. The horses making their way
to and fro across the field leaving furrows, the setting sunlight breaking through the clouds picking out
images in the distance. Images getting darker and more vivid as the horses drew nearer. A ... Show

The poem is in the form of a four line verse with an almost constant AA BB rhyme. The line lengths
are constant but some lines do run on into the next. The rhythm of the poem begins with a slow pace,
this is suggested by the word lumbering in line 1, then the piece begins to slowly pick up the tempo at
line 13. This tempo to me then builds with each successive line until a climax is reached with line 24.
The poet then purposely puts the brakes on the tempo by using repetition of the word fade line 25,
after which the tempo is the same as at the beginning. The religious theme to this poem is made by the
use of similes and metaphors in the horses descriptions. An example being their comparison to
seraphims of gold (line 11), seraphim s of course being an order of angels. Another being the use the
word bossy (line 15), a reference perhaps to the carved wooden bosses found high in the vaulting of
Gothic Church ceilings. He sets a creepy mood to the piece by the process of alliteration using the
letter m (line 12) to lower the tempo and tone prior to the fourth verse. It is here when the tempo
begins to gain momentum, another piece of alliteration is used in the form of the expression broad
breasted (line 14), which instills the idea that these creatures are big and so should make a larger
impact to us as they overpower the sinking sun. From now on the horses are taking on more and more
almost mythological properties, glowing with mysterious fire (line 19), and

On Writing Stephen King Summary
The crafted memoir of Stephen King On Writing , starts off as an autobiography of several tales of
inspirational breakthroughs and unfortunate mishaps. On Writing recollected with me, From a young
age, Stephen King learned the reality of the real world. Though I was much older than Stephen King
when my parents had separated I too dealt with the same circumstance. Though I wish i ve had the
geniuses of Dave King or the talent of Stephen King. My mother didn t just separate with my father,
but with her own children. My father struggling to make ends meat for his 5 kids he, too, like Nellie
Stephens mother had to make sacrifices. My father became a very busy man I hardly ever got to see
him, like Stephen I grew up with lots of sitters. Ordinarily because of the time difference between
Stephen and I Stephen saw the world before social media and electronics by his own creativity.
Therefore, I found it very discouraging to know that by seven years old, Stephen had begun writing
stories. No doubt in my opinion the first part the C.V. , King s background story is a very important
piece of information. Not for this response paper, but for the readers out there who are in the same
way like I need tips and encouragement in ways of tackling writing. I find writing to be torture or
more as a punishment from hell. As I read On Writing , strangely enough the book felt more as a one
on one lesson with Stephen King himself. Ironically On Writing isn t so much of a grammar book, but

The Effects Of Social Support On Students
In this rapidly developing world that we live in, there are many factors which forces mankind to
perform harder. Whether it be in education or employment, the fact that there is so much competition
in attaining the best possible result has led to a world where people are increasingly fatigued and live
with constant stress. In particular, many undergraduate students travel lengthy distances from home to
different parts of the world to achieve the best education they can obtain. In turn, this can cause
acculturative stress and increase levels of anxiety. Therefore, having an active social support network
can be beneficial for undergraduate students dealing with this issue. Social support is broadly defined
as the extent of a person s social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, social support of a high quality can enhance resilience to stress and is exceptionally important
for maintaining good physical and mental health. (Ozbay , Johnson , Dimoulas, Morgan, III, Charney ,
Southwich , 2007). There are two important aspects of social support: (1) the structural aspect, which
consists of social ties and social integration where it indicates people s relationships and how those
relationships are patterned or organized, and (2) the functional aspect, which consists of emotional
support such as receiving love, encouragement and sympathy; informational support such as providing
facts, advice and/or appraisal and instrumental assistance practical help such as supplying behavioural
or material assistance. These social supports can come from both primary and secondary groups.
Primary groups are small in size, informal, intimate and enduring; examples include friends, family
and relatives. Whereas secondary groups tend to be larger and interactions between members are more
informal some examples include work, voluntary and religious organisations (Thoits P. A., 2011).
To some the notion of starting out at a new school with a completely new dynamic can be daunting.
Coupled with this, some undergraduate students may find themselves in a brand new country of a
somewhat alien culture and tackling this can be one of the biggest challenges. Primary support groups
can provide emotional sustenance to an

Analysis Of The Of The Bedford Anthology Of World...
In English 2111 we studied from the books of The Bedford Anthology of World Literature volume one
through three. We as a class had to analyze three units; which were units 1 (Creation), 2 (Epic
Heroes), and 3 (Courtly Love). Each unit had its level of difficulties but my favorite unit was unit 3
Courtly Love. Courtly Love gave me different outlook of love when I read the different poems and
help me understand things I did not understand. To finish the summer strong we are to analyze once
more taking one story from each unit to analyze power. In my opinion you could use the word power
in multiple ways. You could have the power of love, the power to rule over, or just to have power to be
able to move your body.
In the unit one, choosing the Book of Genesis as my story to analyze I believe God has all the power.
God all the power to create everything that ever exists. To explains his power, In the beginning of
creation, when God made heaven and earth, the earth was without form and void, with darkness over
the face of the abyss, and a mighty wind that swept over the surface of waters. God said, Let there be
light, and there was light; and God saw that light was good, and he separated light from darkness. He
called the light day, and the darkness night. So evening came, and morning came, the first day.
(Volume 1, page 140) God had the power to create and give names for he was the main source of
power. His power is very imaginable because we as humans can only create certain

  • 2. Radio Frequency Identification in Warehouse Management Radio frequency identification in warehouse management Introduction Radio Frequency identification involves a small electronic device that has a small chip and antenna. 2,000 bytes of data can be carried by this chip. RFID devices give an object or product its unique identifier, just in the same way that bar codes and magnetic strips which are placed behind credit, ATM or debit cards. The data stored on the chip is only accessible when on scans the device and then the information is captured on the computer. Though one needs to scan the RFID device to gain access to the data, it is not mandatory that one places the scanner directly beside the chip. The chips can be read from approximately 20 feet as it does not use line of sight. This gives RFID a greater advantage over the other methods for automated data collection. RFID use radio waves to transmit a signal that can be read by a reader thus enabling the chip to transmit information to the scanner which then converts the data to machine readable information(Taghaboni Dutta Velthouse, 2006). RFID devices can be semi passive, active, or passive. Passive devices are powered when electromagnetic waves are sent to it thus inducing electric current to the devices antenna. Semi passive devices use battery and waves that are sent from the scanner. Active devices use batteries to power the chip in order for it to broadcast a signal to the scanner. Semi passive and active devices are mostly used for goods that need to be scanned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Doppelgänger In Gothic Novels The metaphor of the doppelgänger in Gothic Novels may refer to 19th century social fears of insecurities, especially regarding the rules of the classes for decency and politeness and the innovation of science. When focusing on Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Stevenson as well as The Picture of Dorian Gray by Wilde, the evolution of the literary double may be explained by the social situation of Victorian England (cf. Duren 2). Men were not only born into being a gentleman, but they had to adhere to certain moral restrictions. These guidelines meant to repress instincts and emotions in favour of a norm accepted by society. Victorians divided strictly into right and wrong and everything differing from the norm was considered improper. The fulfilment of desires was considered as a weakness and hence, needed to be repressed. Maintaining a man s reputable image before his fellowmen was of great importance, though at the same time, one had to deal with contrary feelings, generally considered as improper or even immoral. Hence, men were in need to repress these emotions for the appreciation of their fellow gentlemen. One had to follow the moral guidelines of the times, especially when ... From the 19th century onwards, the novels are often situated in England of that time. Thus, it is suggested that readers should reflect on the stories, placing them in the context of their own country, while also relating to their own mindset. These new ideas are both shown in Robert Louis Stevenson s Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Gray, both of which were written at the end of the century, often referred to as Gothic Revival. • 4. Why College Should Go To College Most kids in elementary school believe that they will go to college and become whatever they want, all they have to do is choose what they want to be, some choosing between a police man, lawyer or doctor. However things are not as simple as we were told as kids and nowadays people are wondering if they should even go to college. The increased cost of debt in student loans are one of the main reasons why people are weary of going to college. People believe that college is a waste of time and money, however I believe the opposite and that college is the best way to have a financially successful future as well as become a productive member of society. While one may argue that there are many billionaires without college degrees like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg they should also take into account that they both briefly attended Ivy League schools and that their success stories are an extremely rare occurrence. On average a high school degree can only get you an annual salary of about $35,000 while a bachelor s degree can get you an annual salary of around $65,000. This theme of yearning for home is displayed in Ed Sheeran s Photograph , with lyrics telling the story of someone who is away from home and is missing their lover, just as Odysseus is missing Penelope. In the song, Ed Sheeran sings Loving can hurt sometimes... But it is the only thing that keeps us alive. This represents how Odysseus is plagued by his longing and love for his family but this love is also what motivates him to persevere through his difficulties in order to come back home. The song also soulfully states that We keep this love in a photograph. We made these memories for ourselves. This shows that Odysseus only has memories left ... In Viva la Vida Coldplay sings about a king who seems to have been thrown from his position and is also in a tight spot against his rebelling people. Similarly to the king in the song, King Odysseus has to face a troubling situation where there is little hope of escaping with his own life, much less his crew s. In contrast to the song, Odysseus is forced to face the giant Polyphemus s wrath, rather than his disciples. As Odysseus watches his crew die one by one before him, the song speaks of their castle standing on pillars of salt, pillars of sand. This reflects how Odysseus is slowly watching the situation crumble out of his control, just like how pillars of salt of sand crumble because they lack structural support. Correspondingly, Odysseus and his crew are unfamiliar with the giants cave, making this situation even more unnerving and difficult for Odysseus, which relates to how the king in the song has his missionaries in a foreign field. This shows how similar Odysseus is in relation to the fallen king in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We had always hoped to visit the Gateway to the West one day, but we never imagined ever living here permanently. This move could not have happened at a more perfect time either, with St. Louis playing host to the World s Fair in a matter of years, there is plenty of work to be done and numerous job options at any time. The potential for work has driven my family to the ends of the Earth it seems. My parents emigrated from Germany in 1873 and quickly found their way across the country to New Ulm, Minnesota, where I was born eight years later on 23 July 1881. New Ulm was a decent place to raise a family, but as I was growing older and our family kept growing larger, my parents had to make the decision to stay in small yet familiar New Ulm, or head south to the more promising yet unknown city of St. Louis. St. Louis was said to be a booming area, a great place to find work, and it even came with its own German sector in the neighborhood of Soulard. With this information in mind we packed our bags and headed towards uncertainty with only the dream of a more prosperous future nudging us forward. Lenders no longer want to work with individuals who have gone through the foreclosure process and for many it is not only their homes they lose. An alternative would be for lenders to add a true customer service department which is not based on pay or get out, but is counseling based to keep Americans in the American Dream of home ownership. This would not only keep their customers for future business with new home loans, but would be noticed by neighbors and the community who are appreciative their home values are not decreasing. The lenders would counsel them through the sale by assisting them with getting the most they can for their home. By getting local community organizations involved to help with home repairs and curb appeal. Once the home is market ready and a dollar amount has been reached for these repairs the home owner will have to volunteer time and/or resources to assist another person going through the same situation. Throughout the play Shakespeare provides many different views of honor, but never directly states what honor is. Which makes sense because honor is a rather abstract concept that seems to vary depending on who states their opinion. There are some universal ideas of honorable deeds but the word itself is rarely defined by individuals. Two of the characters within the play have very different ideas of honor and vary greatly in their desire for it. They are Hotspur and Falstaff, Hotspur appears to have a very clear idea of what honor is and he pursues honor with great fervor. However, Falstaff questions the very existence of honor and has little to no desire for it. The ideas of Falstaff and Hotspur about honor are vastly different. Falstaff and Hotspur differ significantly in their idea of honor. Hotspur believes honor is all about glory and being the center of attention. While Falstaff is only certain that the dead have honor but is unsure about what it is as described by this excerpt of his soliloquy, No. What is honour? . Hotspur believes that honor is derived from epic or heroic deeds, these deeds tends to be very physical in nature such as the honor gained from battle. Sentimentalist Virtue Virtue Ethics vs. Sentimentalist Virtue Ethics Virtue Ethics is defined as any character based approach to normative ethics that emphasizes some conception virtues and vices; often including a universal conception of human flourishing (Blakley, Christopher). Aristotle and David Hume developed accounts of ethics that remained true to their own empirical philosophies; both of which stray away from the more traditional accounts. Their opposing theories contain the overall theme of how a virtuous person would live their life. In contrast, David Hue developed his own account of sentimentalist virtue ethics that challenges, or pushes back on, the virtue ethics Aristotle. According to Aristotle, we should be virtuous people, and therefore perform virtuous acts. Instead of talking about particular actions and the rules according to which they are undertaken, then, Aristotle requires us to look at virtues, or qualities of character. Aristotle s teachings emphasize more on character traits rather than rules or obligations. Moral agency is not merely a matter of which rules to follow, but a whole way of life. It requires a unity of thought and feeling, which is characteristic of what Aristotle, called virtue (Boetzkes and Waluchow, p. 23). What is a virtue, and what is the virtuous life? Mentoring is an effective way to assist and encourage teachers to direct their own learning so that they are able to realize their potential, enhance their skills, and become the teacher that they desire to be (Hudson 2013). • 26. The Dark Ages And The Fall Of The Middle Ages The Middle Ages or Medieval Ages is the time period in Europe between the fall of Rome and the beginning of the Renaissance (History). For this paper it will be referred to as the Middle Ages. This time is also sometimes described as the Dark Ages by some because of some of the bad events that happened and because they say nothing of importance came out of the time period. It is true Rome fell, there were many wars which caused many to die, a shortage of food that caused many to die and an awful sickness that caused many people to die. Despite The Great Famine, The Plague and the fall of Rome during the medieval time period, it should not be known as the dark ages due to the architecture, art, and both educational and the technological advancements that came to be during this time. Was it the invasions of the Barbarian tribes, economic troubles, disputes on slave labor, overexpansion, the military problems, government corruption, political instability, or the spread of Christianity that took down the Rome Empire (History)? Many different reasons with many different answers, however, the Roman Empire did fall and we were left with what we call the Middle Ages. There have been many movies, books and papers written on the subject. One thing I find is a for sure fact is that after the fall of Rome there was no state or government for the people in Europe and that s how the Catholic Church became the most powerful institution in the Middle Age time period(History). Davis, the author of Don t Know Much about History, claimed that the true discoverers of America were the people whose cultures and societies were well established here while Europe was still in the Dark Ages, the so called Indians. For all the diversity of the First Americans, they inherited certain common traits from their old world ancestors. Reflecting their Asiatic heritage, they were generally short to medium stature, with straight black hair, light brown skin, had epicanthic fold, and prominent cheek bones features that in 1492 reinforced Columbus mistaken conviction that he had reached the East Indies and prompted him to assign to the inhabitants the inaccurate yet enduring title of Indians. Indians arrived in America some 30,000 to 40,000 years ago. Archeological findings and Radiocarbon testing suggested that the prehistoric people who populated the Americas were hunters following the herds of wooly mammoths. They walked from Siberia across a land bridge into Alaska. They headed south toward warmer climates, slaughtering the mammoths as they went. As the glaciers melted, the oceans rose and covered this land bridge, creating the present day Bering Strait and separating Alaska from Russia. By the time Christopher Columbus arrived, they were millions of what might be called First Americans or Amerindians occupying the two continents of Americas. Summary Of All The Light We Cannot See One hundred and twenty one years before Anthony Doerr published All the Light We Cannot See, Oscar Wilde wrote, There are moments when one has to choose between living one s own life, fully, entirely, completely or dragging out some false, shallow, degrading existence that the world in its hypocrisy demands. This sentiment could be a summary of All The Light We Cannot See. It could easily be translated into the words repeatedly uttered in Doerr s Pulitzer Prize winning novel: Open your eyes and see what you can with them before they close forever. To open the eyes is to live fully. To leave them closed is to live that shallow, degrading existence the world demands and often rewards. The world is not just. When the choice that is right contradicts the world s desires, to live fully is to live a life of risk. Anthony Doerr s characterization of Werner illustrates this divide between the right choice and the easy choice, and how when it matters most, they rarely overlap. From childhood we were shown Werner s individuality. His striking white hair, the color of his eyes, even his love of knowledge showed he was different. He made the choice to pursue his passion for mechanics when it was harmless, but when the world comes knocking at the orphanage door, bringing in a vice minister and his wife, it is the first time in his life where the easier choice of compliance is separated from the right choice of the individual. The memory being that of a day from his past, where he as a child farm worker watched a team of horses ploughing the stubble back into the field during a rainy day which gets progressively more stormy. The line lengths are constant but some lines do run on into the next. The rhythm of the poem begins with a slow pace, this is suggested by the word lumbering in line 1, then the piece begins to slowly pick up the tempo at line 13. This tempo to me then builds with each successive line until a climax is reached with line 24. The poet then purposely puts the brakes on the tempo by using repetition of the word fade line 25, after which the tempo is the same as at the beginning. The religious theme to this poem is made by the use of similes and metaphors in the horses descriptions. An example being their comparison to seraphims of gold (line 11), seraphim s of course being an order of angels. Another being the use the word bossy (line 15), a reference perhaps to the carved wooden bosses found high in the vaulting of Gothic Church ceilings. He sets a creepy mood to the piece by the process of alliteration using the letter m (line 12) to lower the tempo and tone prior to the fourth verse. It is here when the tempo begins to gain momentum, another piece of alliteration is used in the form of the expression broad breasted (line 14), which instills the idea that these creatures are big and so should make a larger impact to us as they overpower the sinking sun. From now on the horses are taking on more and more almost mythological properties, glowing with mysterious fire (line 19), and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. On Writing Stephen King Summary The crafted memoir of Stephen King On Writing , starts off as an autobiography of several tales of inspirational breakthroughs and unfortunate mishaps. On Writing recollected with me, From a young age, Stephen King learned the reality of the real world. Though I was much older than Stephen King when my parents had separated I too dealt with the same circumstance. Though I wish i ve had the geniuses of Dave King or the talent of Stephen King. My mother didn t just separate with my father, but with her own children. My father struggling to make ends meat for his 5 kids he, too, like Nellie Stephens mother had to make sacrifices. My father became a very busy man I hardly ever got to see him, like Stephen I grew up with lots of sitters. Ordinarily because of the time difference between Stephen and I Stephen saw the world before social media and electronics by his own creativity. Therefore, I found it very discouraging to know that by seven years old, Stephen had begun writing stories. No doubt in my opinion the first part the C.V. , King s background story is a very important piece of information. Not for this response paper, but for the readers out there who are in the same way like I need tips and encouragement in ways of tackling writing. I find writing to be torture or more as a punishment from hell. As I read On Writing , strangely enough the book felt more as a one on one lesson with Stephen King himself. Ironically On Writing isn t so much of a grammar book, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether it be in education or employment, the fact that there is so much competition in attaining the best possible result has led to a world where people are increasingly fatigued and live with constant stress. In particular, many undergraduate students travel lengthy distances from home to different parts of the world to achieve the best education they can obtain. In turn, this can cause acculturative stress and increase levels of anxiety. Therefore, having an active social support network can be beneficial for undergraduate students dealing with this issue. Thus, social support of a high quality can enhance resilience to stress and is exceptionally important for maintaining good physical and mental health. (Ozbay , Johnson , Dimoulas, Morgan, III, Charney , Southwich , 2007). There are two important aspects of social support: (1) the structural aspect, which consists of social ties and social integration where it indicates people s relationships and how those relationships are patterned or organized, and (2) the functional aspect, which consists of emotional support such as receiving love, encouragement and sympathy; informational support such as providing facts, advice and/or appraisal and instrumental assistance practical help such as supplying behavioural or material assistance. These social supports can come from both primary and secondary groups. Primary groups are small in size, informal, intimate and enduring; examples include friends, family and relatives. Whereas secondary groups tend to be larger and interactions between members are more informal some examples include work, voluntary and religious organisations (Thoits P. A., 2011). To some the notion of starting out at a new school with a completely new dynamic can be daunting. Coupled with this, some undergraduate students may find themselves in a brand new country of a somewhat alien culture and tackling this can be one of the biggest challenges. Primary support groups can provide emotional sustenance to an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Analysis Of The Of The Bedford Anthology Of World... In English 2111 we studied from the books of The Bedford Anthology of World Literature volume one through three. We as a class had to analyze three units; which were units 1 (Creation), 2 (Epic Heroes), and 3 (Courtly Love). Each unit had its level of difficulties but my favorite unit was unit 3 Courtly Love. Courtly Love gave me different outlook of love when I read the different poems and help me understand things I did not understand. To finish the summer strong we are to analyze once more taking one story from each unit to analyze power. In my opinion you could use the word power in multiple ways. You could have the power of love, the power to rule over, or just to have power to be able to move your body. In the unit one, choosing the Book of Genesis as my story to analyze I believe God has all the power. God all the power to create everything that ever exists. To explains his power, In the beginning of creation, when God made heaven and earth, the earth was without form and void, with darkness over the face of the abyss, and a mighty wind that swept over the surface of waters. God said, Let there be light, and there was light; and God saw that light was good, and he separated light from darkness. He called the light day, and the darkness night. So evening came, and morning came, the first day. (Volume 1, page 140) God had the power to create and give names for he was the main source of power. His power is very imaginable because we as humans can only create certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
