German Stereotypes In WWII Films
German Stereotypes carried on by WWII films Cold, Nazi, heavy accent. Those are some of the
common stereotypes of German in typical everyday life. These stereotypes are not the truth about
Germans and Germany as all other stereotypes aren t the truth or the only truth. The strangest thing
about the typical German stereotypesis that all of the common ones can be traced to WWI, WWII
or are revivals of actions of those times through war films or stories. The definition of a stereotype
from Google is: a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of
person or thing (Definition). This definition makes it very simple for us to see how stereotypes can
come about and also how they can effect someone. If you have... Show more content on

This is also due with most movies in that they often play along with a trope or stereotype to try a
compact or make a character more relatable or identifiable. War films since they became pretty
popular in world war times, due to the necessary need to get people in support the war and
supports the troops so most use the common stereotypes and I would also argue made them more
popular. When you have a formula you can follow in a script which will lead to your audience
being able to easily identify the bad guy, it makes it easier for a film to be successful. So for
example in the Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark film you have the typical German
stereotype with the Nazi team searching for the Ark of the Covenant to make Hitler s army
invincible. That idea of cold heartless team of people only working towards helping Hitler and
the war is something that many people of the time wouldn t have a hard time identifying as bad.
Raiders of the Lost Ark doesn t quite fit in the war film genre but still has the same use of
stereotypes to create the big evil for the

Difference Between Liberalism And Anarchism
The multiple strands of both liberalism and anarchism prevent any continuous agreement between
the main ideas of the two ideologies. The fundamental belief that mankind comprises rational free
thinking individuals is common to both view points. However, the level to which the individual
can be trusted differs between the two. Anarchists place greater emphasis on the ability for
individuals to excel without the interference of an overarching body. Liberals argue that the state is
a needed device to ensure that the liberty of each individual is maintained and not limited by other
individuals. Liberals believe that individuals are rational and able to recognise their own self
interest, this being the main reason why liberals support high levels of individual freedom only
constrained to some extent by the state. Liberal individualism, especially within classical liberalism,
means that individuals are atomistic and that they will act rationally in support of their own self
interest rather than in the interests of society as a whole. Although the liberal adoption of laissez
faire economics promotes an atomistic view on individuals, it also argues that an atomistic
approach to economics will benefit the entirety of society. However, modern liberals have developed

In addition, both ideologies struggle to have a distinct set of agreed ideas and therefore a clean
comparison of the key ideas of each ideology is difficult. The various anarchist views of economic
systems fundamentally disagree with the economic principles of both classical and modern
liberalism. Although both have a positive outlook on human nature they disagree on the extent to
which humans require a structure within which to operate. Anarchism can therefore be seen as the
extreme liberal and extreme socialist forms of liberalism. Anarchism, in all forms, is the critique of
the centrist liberal

Differences in Cultural
Cultural Differences between Japan and U.S. There are many cultural differences between the U.S.
and Japan. Each country has their culture and lifestyle. While we may feel that Japanese cultural
and lifestyle seems strange, they likewise look at Americans as being different. It is important to
realize that Japanese and American cultureis swayed by the society of people. Americans belong to
a number of subcultures due to immigration, while Japanese society has less immigration and is
not as diverse when it comes to subcultures. Since there are so many cultural differences between
Japan and the U.S., we cannot discuss its entirety but review a few differences as it relates to the
family, greeting, business, and government. First, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
American schools have more access to new technology then Japanese school and students are able
to advance more rapidly in technology. Another noticeable culture difference between America
and Japan is business practices. In Japan, business relationships begin with an exchange of
business cards. To be acceptable to Japanese, the card should have English on one side and
Japanese on the other. The card is accepted with both hands and with a bow. It is read with interest
otherwise the Japanese consider you as being rude and it may damage the business relationship.
Business practices are different than American business practices because Japanese emphasize
teamwork and Americans are more concerned with individual enterprise. Punctuality and reliability
is valued greatly in Japan. Although it is changing, seniority has traditionally been more important
to Japanese business than achievement or skills. Japanese believe strongly in loyalty to the
company. The company s needs come first and individual needs are secondary. Whereas
Americans feel they have rights and these rights and come before loyalty to the company. If their
rights are not met, they go to higher powers or file complaints. One important value the Japanese
has is the process of greeting individuals. They believe greetings heightened sense of formality and
professionalism, which underlies respect. Bowing is part of showing gratitude, to express

The High Cost of College Tuition
College Tuition
The cost of college education in the 21st century is absolutely ridiculous. although colleges have
to make money to support things like sports, it is making it so more and more kids aren t going
to college, and the kids who do go are coming out with huge amounts of debt. People who go to
college aren t coming out with the job that they think they deserve, which is leading to lower
income, and a harder time paying off their college debt.
The first part of this paper is going to be talking about how college is so over priced and why it
shouldn t be so expensive. By colleges making the price of their tuition so high it is making it so
that less kids are able to go to college, which makes it so that when kids come out of high school
they are working at low end jobs and are having trouble making enough money to support
themselves. In 1930 tuition was fairly low, and students could attend wharton Business school
for $250 (best online colleges). This relates back to the thesis about how less kids are going to
college because of how much money it. back in 1930 almost 70% of kids went to college. In
2013 only about 50% of high school grads are going to college. And for the 50% of kids who are
going to college, most of them are coming out with huge amounts of debt that is taking them year to
pay off.
Because of the drastic rise in college tuition, it has made it so that the kids who are going to college
are coming out with more debt than they can handle. Between

Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon

experience of the text... I want him to respond on the same plane as an illiterate or preliterate
reader would. I want to subvert... [ the reader] in the company of his own solitary imagination
Morrison proclaims in Memory, Creation, and Writing( Memory, Creating and Writing 387 ). Toni
Morrison has a unique and distinctive style of writing that allows her to stand out from other
authors. In her pieces, Morrison incorporates various writing techniques that allow her and the
readers to construct the meaning of her work. One type of stylistic approach Morrison takes to her
writing is that she draws extensively from fables and folklore. In her... Show more content on

The most prime example of the Gullah tale in the text is in the foreword section of the novel.
Morrison tells a story of a story where a man named Solomon escapes slavery while at the same
time abandoning his family. This allusion is a connection to the Gullah stories of the slaves who
would fly back to Africa to free themselves. The allusion appears throughout the rest of the novel.
For instance, in the first chapter, an insurance agent by the name of Robert Smith announced
that he would fly off the roof of Mercy, a local hospital, to the other side of Lake Superior. I will
take off from Mercy and fly away on my own wings, he said ( Song of Solomon 3). More
references to flight and the Gullah tale are made in the novel; Song of Solomon ends with the
flight of Milkman Dead off Solomon s Leap. Milkman stopped waving and narrowed his eyes.
He could just make out Guitar s head and shoulders in the dark...Without wiping away the tears,
taking a deep breath, or even bending his knees he leaped (SOS 337). The reference to the tale in
the novel helps to establish equivalence between the characters and the readers. In other words, by
renewing the tale in her novel, the message of the tale becomes more comprehensible to the
readers especially to a new generation of African American readers who can learn about and relate

Elite Running Research Paper
Introduction:
For my Internal Assessment, I am going to investigate the characteristics of elite runners. As a high
school track and field and cross country athlete, I am amazed by the abilities of elite runners, who
seem to glide through the air effortlessly. By researching the characteristics of their running, I
believe that I can become a better runner by implementing some of their mechanics. In theory,
running may seem like a simple motion. However, maintaining proper form while physically
exerting every muscle in your lower body is no simple task. Every four years, the best athletes from
around the globe come together to compete in the Summer Olympic Games. Earlier this year,
athletes from just under 200 countries competed in track and ... Show more content on

To start, I explored the relationship that existed between distance and speed. The speeds of the top
three male and female athletes at each distance have been plotted. For both men and women, there
is an inverse exponential relationship between the speed of the athlete and the event distance. This
trend shows a logical relationship because as the distance of a race increases, the athletes are
going to be slower because running for a longer amount of time requires energy to be conserved.
In order to develop an equation which represents this relationship, I am going to graph the speed
of each athlete against the log of their distance. Because this is an exponential relationship, the
log of x is proportional to speed. This means that when log of distance is plotted along the x axis,
a linear trend will be produced. Once these points are plotted, I will calculate a regression line
using linear regression. Once this equation is found, log x can be substituted into the equation for
the value of x, this new equation would be the regression line for the correlation between speed and

African Americans Allowed To Vote
Every Voice Matters
America has been built on the idea that as citizens, we have the choice to decide what is the best
for our country. Millions of Americans cast their vote every election day to make sure their voices
are heard on who is going to run their country and what new policies they will bring with them. As
stated in Anny Shin s article, Takoma Park 16 year old savors his history making moment at the
polls, voting is a, valuable privilege, in which many don t realize. In the United States, not every is
allowed to vote, only 18 year old citizens are allowed to vote. However the number of 18 year olds
voting is very low and this has been an issue in the political for quite a while. The concerns and
desires of most millennials are not being expressed as many are not voting. Many, like the city of
Takoma have proposed to allow 16 and 17 year olds to vote as they believe that voting among
millennials will increase. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
African Americans were once not allowed to vote, and neither were women. Voters also had to
be of greater age, and had to take a literacy tests. As the years progressed, the voting age was then
lowered to 18 year olds through the 26th amendment, for all American citizens. However, citizens
of Takoma have come to the realization, that the voting age should be even lower in order for
society to have change. Although voting is a national privilege, 16 and 17 year old citizens should
be allowed to vote as this will allow them to be more connected to the community, it will establish a
culture of voting with higher turnout, and allow these individuals to be politically

Analysis Of The Movie Fried Green Tomatoes
My first impressions of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes was that it was a fluff and light movie.
The previews of the movie would lead one to believe that myself included. I was wrong. The
first part of the movie was set in 1930 s. This part of the movie addressed the issue of racism and
ageism before the time of the Civil Rights Movement. When the movie moves in to present day,
the story covers the struggles Evelyn is experiencing with menopause, or as it was sometime
called; the change of life. Fried Green Tomatoes is a story that bounces through generations of
women and the people around them. This is a classic story of Americana. The stories are used to
weave a web to make a point and draw people in to the events that shape the lives... Show more

to an unappreciative husband is the catalyst that brings about the change from a victim of low
self esteem to Towanda the Avenger . This is her avenging persona that rights the wrongs
inflicted upon women everywhere. When Ninny is first met by Evelyn, the first perception is
that she is a senile old lady, which is a typical view of ageism and the disregard society has of the
elderly. This is typical of ageism, systemic stereotyping of and discrimination against people
because they are old (Touhey, 2016, p.66). Ninny s reminiscing cultivates a sense of security
through recounting of comforting memories (Touhey, 2016, p. 68). But as the time passes,
Evelyn hears the stories of the strength of her feminine predecessors gaining the strength to fight
through the issues that plague her. Ninny gained a friend and a sense of security while Evelyn

Unit 9: Stoichiometry
Practice
1.Differentiate between the significance of the coefficients in a balanced chemical equation and the
significance of the subscripts in a chemical formula.
В·Coefficients show the correct proportions of atoms and molecules in a chemical reaction. They
are normal sized numbers placed at the beginning of the chemical formulas in a chemical reaction
during the process of balancing. They tell how many of an entire chemical formula is in a reaction.
В·Subscripts show the correct proportions of atoms/ions in a chemical formula. They are the small
numbers within the chemical formula. They tell how many individual atoms/ions are present.

7.What is plasma?
В·Plasma has neither a definite volume nor a definite shape.
В·Plasma is often seen within ionized gases.
В·Plasma is distinct from a gas because it possesses unique properties: oIt contains free electrical
charges (not bound to atoms or ions) oIt can be produced by heating and ionizing a gas. В·Plasma
is often found in areas of the planet/universe where extremely high heats are possible and gases
exist to help create the plasma.
8.Put hydrogen bonds, dispersion forces and dipole dipole forces in order of how strong they are
and give an example of each type of attraction.
В·Strongest = Hydrogen bonds which have hydrogen attached to a fluorine, oxygen, or nitrogen
(Example: Oxygen s attraction to other hydrogens in a bunch of H2O s)
В·Medium Strength = Dipole Dipole bonds which occur between the slight positive end of one
polar molecule and the slight negative end of another polar molecule (Example: Nitrogen s
attraction to other hydrogens in a bunch of NH3 s)
В·Weakest = Dispersion forces which occur in any covalently bonded molecule (Example:
Hydrogen s attraction to other hydrogens in a bunch of CH4 s) Г Note 1: These are
intermolecular forces of attraction so they occur OUTSIDE of the molecules! Г Notes 2: One
covalent bond can be all three types at once.

Pompey s Use Of Evil In Measure For Measure
In this short passage of Measure for Measure, the theme is evil is persuasive. Shakespeare uses
repetition to convey this idea. Evil is being represented by Pompey who Elbow calls, O thou
caitiff, O thou varlet, O thou wicked/ Hannibal! (2.1.156 157). The words caitiff, varlet, and
wicked are repeated many times throughout the passage to give emphasis to Pompey s evil,
cheating character. Pompey is brought to court to explain why he used Elbow s wife as a
prostitute by pimping her out to Master Froth. He uses persuasion to try to get away of
imprisonment for his crime. First he says, Once sir? There was nothing done to her once
(2.1.128) He starts the conversation by trying to say that what he did was a good thing, or else it
would not have happened more than once. Then, instead of just telling Escalus what happens, he
says, I beseech your honour, ask me? (2.1.130) He is dying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Only an honest Christian would take an oath upon a bible, so he uses this idea to trick everyone
in believing in what he is saying. He then refers to Froth as Master, a word usually used in
reference to God. Early in the passage Pompey says, How could Master Froth do the constable s
wife any/ harm? (2.1.42 43). One can again relate Froth to God, as not only is he being called
Master, but he is being seen as someone who can do no harm, only good. Pompey seems to
portray Elbow s wife s prostitution as a sacrifice to God (Froth). However, he is completely
aware that he has committed a crime. This awareness can be understood in his repetitive use of
the word beseech, which mean to implore. When someone is imploring, he or she is asking for
mercy and only someone who has does not deserve mercy will ask for it. Therefore, Pompey knows
he needs to ask for mercy because it will not simply be handed to

With the ulumas desire to purify Islam from the occult, and contemplating that talisman would lead
to idolatry, surely then it would be inaccurate to conclusively claim that the occult science
deteriorated during the MamlЕ«k period as has been the conventional historical paradigm. Michael
Dols, through an analysis of numerous sources, has contended that the use of the occult science in
Medieval Islam was more prevalent than previously acknowledged in the scholastic field. Al Saleh
corroborates with Dols, by arguing that the continuous conquests in the name of Islam engendered
an increase in Islamic magical beliefs, because cultural encounter and exchange were inevitable.
Similarly, to the refutation of astrology, the discontentment shown towards talisman by the
traditionalist implies that the practice and belief of talisman had reached levels of apprehension for
the traditionalist. Livingston acknowledges this by highlighting that in the 14th century, a popular
belief in the occult science had been seen by some to endanger the religious foundation of Islamic
MamlЕ«k. Furthermore, some historians suggest that there was a belief among the amД«rs in the
talismanic influences of ancient carved statues, conceivably of pharaonic origins, within the
MamlЕ«k period. Indeed, then the use of the talisman and the occult was part of the mainstream
medieval MamlЕ«k culture. It may have not been acknowledged previously, as the number of
published textual sources concerning the occult science during MamlЕ«k period is difficult to
come across. Moreover, deliberating the visual and material evidence discussed in this chapter, we
come see that the occult manifested in many forms, ranging from paper scrolls to jewellery.
Remarkably, textual occultist treatises were far

Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies Essay
William Golding kills off everything important to survival and by this he means that the world
is doomed. So many significant objects are broken by the end of the book, The Lord of the Flies
by William Golding, which is a novel about a bunch of inexperienced boys being trapped
together on an island and are forced to find means of survival. There are a lot of symbols in this
book that all represent the only way they can survive. Each symbol represents a piece of the world
and how it functions. Without all of these pieces, the world can t function. William Goldingclearly

God sent them a dead parachutist as a sign. Which represents that their is not very much hope for
them if that is all he could send them. Another thing that represents all forms or Christianity begin
dead is when Simon dies. Jack leapt on to the sand. Do our dance! Come on! Dance! (151). As all

happened to crawl out of the forest to come and tell them all what the actual Beast was. They all
thought he was the beats and torturously ripped, clawed, and bit him to death. Simon is the Christ
figure of the group, and in this moment, Christ had died. In the Bible Jesus suffered a very
painful and torturous death, as did Simon in the book. This represents the world being doomed
because God created the world and without him, their is no hope for anyone to live or survive.

The Reign Of The Carolingian Dynasty
Although the reign of the Carolingian dynasty occupied only a brief part of the entirety of the
medieval era, the Carolingian Empire that was established during that period made both a historical
and cultural impact on medieval society that would resonate for years to come. Until the empire
fell in 888, the Carolingian House of the Franksinitially brought stability and progress to most of
Europe, as well as pioneering a cultural and intellectual renaissance that influenced the remainder of
the Middle Ages. Although there were various Carolingian rulers who aided these advances, it is
fair to say that Carolingian developments reached their peak during the reign of Charlemagne, a
leader and reformer of the church who fully appreciated the importance of learning and education.
Throughout his reign, he established himself, as a ruler, and his empire as an example that
subsequent Kings of the Middle Ages would aim to obtain and uphold. In addition, Charlemagne
created a cultural legacy that allowed the empire to prosper and formed links between the
medieval world and the ancient world. With this in mind, this essay will principally explore the
positive aspects of the Carolingian legacy and the ways in which they were fundamental to the
development of medieval society, focusing on the most significant successes during the reign of
Charlemagne. It will also briefly touch upon the role of other Carolingian leaders as well as the
societal impact of the eventual dissolution of the

In 1989 the oil tanker Exxon Valdez ran aground on Bligh Reef located off the coast of Alaska.
The Exxon Valdez spilled thousands of barrels of oil into Prince William Sound, which was the

places high for ease of settling in World rankings as well.
Poverty
Mexico has a poverty rate that s reported to be around 46.2% between 2012 and 2014 translating
into an increase of .07%. During this time, the Mexican Government reported that two million
Mexicans slipped into poverty. The poverty level has risen slightly due to access to education,
health, clean water and income as the basis of the problem.
Statistics show that in Latin America, Mexico is one of the only countries not showing any
decreases in poverty levels. Mexico is struggling with slow economic growth but has large
disparities when it comes to the distribution of wealth. Between 2012 and 2014 the average
income earned by Mexicans also fell. The average household income in Mexico is about 13,000
pesos per month which equals to $800 US as of 2014. The disparity between top 10% of earners is
that they earn 30 times more than lower earners make Mexico.
Mexico s stagnant wages and declining purchasing power also contribute to the reality of poverty
for many Mexican nationals. Recently the Mexican government raised the daily minimum salary
from 73.04 pesos to 80.04 pesos. This increase would equal to about 30 cents in US currency. The
Mexican government reports that the increase is approximately 12.8%.

New Zealand Women s Rights
INTRODUCTION New Zealand women in the 19th century became part of an international
movement to achieve equal rights. Women campaigners, and the men who helped them to
achieve their goal, were raising the point of inequalities in marriage, education, paid
employment and politics. Most of those who didn t support in favour for women s rights,
strongly valued the differences between men and woman. A woman s place was seen a mainly
domestic one. As they were seen as the mother and homemaker, the source of love and moral
guidance. Whereas men were seen to be more in charge of the public world of business and
politics. It was considered the task of men to start building the new colony. At the same time, a
large percentage of women strongly believed that if they had access to education and training men
received. They could achieve as much as men did. Both beliefs became apparent, especially when
women campaigned for change. Their argument was that their positive moral influence on general
public life was needed to ensure the protection of women, children and home life, and they also
asserted their right to have access to the privileges of citizenship that men enjoyed.
BACKGROUND Starting in the 1870s, Large numbers of women started to join organisations.
They were motivated by the desire for a secure home, and to acknowledge their concern about the
damage done by men, caused by alcohol abuse. Many members of these organisations either
belonged to Baptist, Methodist or

The Inertial Navigation System ( Ins )
The inertial navigation system (INS) is a highly complex device which utilises very sensitive
sensors to generate movement information and a computer to develop an algorithm of motion
over time. The INS can be described as very sophisticated dread reckoning. The sensors which
are used in an INS are accelerometers and gyroscopes which are further linked to a computer.
The main consideration is that these highly sensitive and advanced sensors used in an INS still
have errors from accuracy limitations in units of basic design or original outdated concepts. The
accuracy can be improved with more complex and updated integration which includes the use of
the better and more advanced components. To understand the errors associated with INS, a
closer look into the flow of information is essential. The north facing accelerometer is mounted
to a platform which is supported by gyroscopes. Any accelerations detected are given to the first
stage integrator which uses the time component to develop velocity data. The second integrator
uses the velocity data and time to calculate the distance travelled which is then added to the
present position to generate a new present position. The system uses a backwards feedback loop
of velocity data to the gyroscopes to make accelerometer platform perpendicular to the local
gravity vector. This model is used for both north facing and east facing platforms and combined
with the secant multiplier. The basic system designs would carry a greater error but

In Vivian Sobchack s The Address of the Eye: A Phenomenology of Film Experience she discusses
the consciousness ability to associate a visible representation of metaphorical constructions that
humans are accustomed to in everyday life can translate on the big screen. The images that one
sees in everyday life is manipulated according to the body and mindof the observer similar to the
way imagery in movies affects the viewer personally. Sobchack creates an interesting argument
when she speaks on the way new life such as an infantile or an unhuman figure such as a cat would

One must assume that the context of visual activity is familiar to the psychological state of a
human being there must be a consciousness there to create reasoning. For one to truly understand
the visible world one must adapt what they see. In Denis Villeneuve s Arrival Sobchack s theory on
the way visibility associates with reflexive consciousness agrees with the way humans interact with
the world around him. The example Sobchack uses about the young infant is prevalent when
comparing the Aliens and the relationship between humankind. The character Louise Banks has
discovered that this form of extra terrestrial life is forming a way to communicate with the humans
that is not verbal but in forms of symbols. In this scene viewers see her trying to decipher and
record the alien calligraphy in order to create an understandable language amongst the two species.
There are several forms of invisible conditions that happened to share metaphorical reasoning.
Viewers learn through the film that Louise learning the aliens form of communication is vital to the
survival of both their kind. With Louise being incapable of formulating a previous correlation to the
symbols that viewers see as well for the first time, the viewers and Louise are now infantile to the

The Impact Of The Roaring Twenties
F. Scott Fitzgerald once stated, The parties were bigger, the pace was faster, the shows were
broader, the buildings were higher, the morals were looser, and the liquor was cheaper. The time
after the war known as the Roaring Twenties harbored change for not only the economy but for the
people also. Credit materialized, becoming available for citizens to use on new products such as the
vacuum cleaner and the materializes, washing machine which allotted more time for the people to
have to themselves. The 1920s, a time of celebration and prosperity, eventually ended as a result
of a sudden economic crash, because of the effects from the times. During the World War I (1914
1918), women accepted the jobs that men had been working before they went on to fight for the
U.S. Many women worked in factories, with heavy machinery, on farms, or even in offices as
clerks. After the war, many women kept their jobs as clerks and secretaries. They obtained the
right to vote in 1920 with the 19th amendment, which set loose the ideas of even more
independence and a need to change the ideals of women. Post war prosperity gave way to credit
being opened for the people to use. Research showed, Low prices and generous credit made cars
affordable luxuries at the beginning of the decade; by the end, they were practically necessities (
The Roaring Twenties). Citizens were now allowed to buy goods they previously could not

The Story Of The Western Wing, The Peony Pavilion, And The...
In traditional Chinese theater, females, and particularly young girls, are perceived as property.
Their role in society is to get married to a male from another family of equal or higher social
status. In fact, the role of a woman is so set and stone that no matter how they were brought up,
whether or not they are noble or educated, does not seem to contribute to their destined fate. The
traditional Chinese society is so specific and consistent in determining the fate of females based
on social hierarchy that females seem to have no choice in the matter. Often, the decision is made
by their parents and the females are forced to simply comply. In three classic Chinese operas, The
Story of the Western Wing, The Peony Pavilion, and The Peach Blossom Fan, the main female
characters strive to move against societal norms by choosing their own destinies, hence choosing
their male partners. The classics make this freedom so valuable to the point that it is almost
unachievable. By creating female leads who fight against their own destinies, authors of each play
use irony to criticize traditional Chinese social structure. To show this irony, three heroines whom
are all upper class, educated, and very sheltered by their families and societal role of a womanare
struck by grief when deciding to choose their own fate. Although the freedom and approval of love
should be considered a premium lifestyle for its time, the impossible nature of the opportunity leads
to unconceivable

The Photographer Into Afghanistan With Doctors Without...
In The Photographer Into War Torn Afghanistan with Doctors Without Borders, one of the themes
evident within the book is the difference between the stereotypes of Afghan people and who they
actually are. The photographer, Didier Lefevre, is fueled by, a profound respect and love for the
people of Afghanistan, and a belief in the importance of their work ( Lefevre x). The importance in
that work was to show humanity in the faces the media portrays as terrorists. The media also
portrays Afghanis for being uneducated, sheltered, and driven by religion. Throughout the book
there are examples of Afghans that deserve empathy, but one page stood out from the rest: page
176. It displays Bassir Khan s businessmen and bodyguard sitting unamused in the first panel, with
the follow up panels of them leaving Didier in the room. The first panel in specific represents
both the humanitarian and sheltered themes of the book. What is most interesting about the first
panel, is the image itself confirms racial ambiguities. The men shown are of darker complexions,
which is perceived as being inferior to whites. On top of that, it confirms that non whites are
violent, as one of the men are holding a gun. They are all men, wearing turbans and hats and worn
down jackets. Peering at the first panel makes readers think Lefevre failed his mission to humanize
Afghanis, but a closer look at the narrator s block tells another story.

Atomic Bomb Essay
The Atomic Bomb was the deadliest weapons in the history of war. Throughout World War II one of
the most stubborn countries to surrender was Japan who relentlessly fought against the United
States of America. After failing to defeat America, Japan was overwhelmed by allied forces.
Staying with tradition however, Japan would rather die in battle than to surrender. The Soviet
Union also fought against America but that was towards the end of the war. The United States
dropped both of the Atomic Bombs in order to intimidate the Soviet Union and to make Japan to
surrender unconditionally.

To be captured was a disgrace and extremely frowned upon in Japan. America gave Japan fair
warning about an explosive device and if they did not declare a surrender, America would use it
against them. Unfortunately they do not heed warning. On August 6, 1945, during World War II
(1939 45), an American B 29 bomber dropped the world s first deployed Atomic Bomb over the
Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately
killed 80,000 people; tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure (History.com)
America kept its word and the first bomb struck Hiroshima. Many casualties were taken in Japan
and it severely hurt Japan s spirit and the nation s physical abilities. Japan however did not stop
fighting until a second Atomic Bomb was dropped in Japan. Three days later, on August 9, a
plutonium implosion type (Fat Man) bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Within the first two to four
months following the bombings, the acute effects of the Atomic Bombings had killed 90,000
146,000 people in Hiroshima and 39,000 80,000 in Nagasaki; roughly half of the deaths in each
city occurred on the first day. During the following months, large numbers died from the effect of
burns, radiation sickness, and other injuries, compounded by illness and malnutrition. In both cities,

Current Trends Of Data Mining
Current Trends in Data Mining
Sardor Khodjaev
I. INTRODUCTION
Data itself is useless, until it is mined and transformed into a valuable source of knowledge
discovery. Due to its conversion into useful information, data mining has become the leading source
being used in many fields worldwide. Data mining is based on complex algorithms that allow for the
segmentation of data to identify patterns and trends, detect anomalies, and predict the probability of
various situational outcomes. [1] Many organizations from healthcare to multimedia and more are
relaying on data and getting developed through the use of it. Regardless of how, data warehouse
changed its rhythm and dimension in terms of measurements such as: variety, volume and velocity.
Today, one can see the current trends of data mining in different fields such as social networks,
healthcare and businesses. As data mining is giving the opportunity for those fields to get
advanced, Big Data is also opening up new doors within itself as the new trends emerge.
However, Big Data suggests something more than just an analysis of huge volumes of information.
The problem is not that the organizations create high volume of data, but the fact that most of them
are presented in a format consisting with traditionally poor structured form of database such as: a
web based magazines, images, videos, text documents, machine code and geospatial data . All of
these are allocated in a distributed storages, sometimes even

Comprehensive-Comprehensive Budgeting Analysis
Budgeting is an essential component in maintaining the finances of an organization, especially
within the healthcare industry. Healthcare administrators must be adept in financial skills in order
to maintain their organizations and to meet the new demands of the changing healthcare laws.
Budgeting is the process of converting the operating plan into monetary terms and are a control
standard against which superiors can easily measure the performance of subordinates (Nowicki,
2015, p. 281). Once strategic and operational plans are completed, an extensive budgetary plan
should be devised, including accounting and informational systems that contain an organizational
structure to ensure financial responsibility and assist managementwith budgetary... Show more

This approach is beneficial for areas that change rapidly but can be difficult to implement because of
the large time commitment to develop, increased anxiety with staff members, and other
administrative and communication requirements (Nowicki, 2015). For organizations that have
limited budgets and staffing, this approach could be problematic to implement.
Comprehensive Comprehensive budgeting integrates all budgets for the organization into one large
methodology (Nowicki, 2015). Seeing as many organizations utilize a top down approach with
budgeting, a comprehensive approach would be maintained by senior management while junior
management would focus on performance instead of budgetary issues.
No matter the design approach, all of management should understand the concepts of the budget and
monitor performance. Ultimately it is the responsibility of the CEO, CFO, and/or senior
management to monitor and evaluate if the organization is maintaining the budget through
operations. The board of directors should review the organization s budget for the year, oversee
major expenditures, and ensure that strategic goals are being met by the organization. With the
combined approach from all of management and the board of directors, a suitable budgetary plan
can be implemented to ensure the efficiency of the organization and accomplishment of strategic

come around. The Z1, originally created by Germany s Konrad Zuse in his parents living room in
1936 to 1938 and is considered to be the first electro mechanical binary programmable (modern)
computer and really the first functional computer (Computer Hope).
Today s mobile computing consists of an ever growing number of devices and it seems like a
new type of device comes out every few years or so. One of the great advantages mobile
computing has been able to enjoy is playing off the existing technologies. Without advancement in
computer field the mobile world would not exist like it dose.
Mobile computers can usefully be divided into a number of categories. Firstly, many mobile

Creatine Monohydrate Essay
Creatine Monohydrate
Creatine monohydrate is a body building supplement. Many athletes and trainers use it to enhance
athletic performance. College athletics are an advocate for creatine when it comes to exercising and
strength conditioning, But what is creatine? Creatine is a naturally occurring metabolite found in
red muscle tissue. It is a powerful ergogenic aid that plays an important role in energizing muscle.
Creatine increases the body s ability to do work. It is high powered and generates the muscles
ultimate energy source ATP (adenosine triphosphate) ATP produces the contractions of a muscle s
proteins. When muscles are performing work ATP is being broken down into ADP (adenosine
diphosphate) and energy is given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Journal of Applied Physiology published a study to determine the importance of a loading
phase of creatine. In the study four separate groups were used and each group was given a different
amount of creatine. The study lasted 28 days and the muscle creatine levels were tested. The four
doses went like this: Group I 20 grams for six days and nothing; Group 2 20 grams for six days
then 2 grams per day; Group 3 3 grams per day for 28 days; Group 4 was given a placebo. After 28
days, muscle biopsies were taken and groups 2 and 3 proved that loading was not necessary to
achieve results from creatine. Groups 2 and 3 showed the same amounts of creatine increases. The
exercise that was used was not presented in Joe Wieder s article.
There have also been other studies conducted on creatine. One of the better ones was by a group
of students out in Texas. The effects of creatine on muscle power and strength indices of ten
subjects, all male, were tested. The amounts of creatine were not given but more than likely each
subject was given the same amount. The training that was used consisted of 3 consecutive 30
second Wingate bike tests with 5 minutes rest in between, and a bench press workout. For each
individual a one rep max for the bench press was taken then sets were performed at 70% of the one
rep max. Eight subjects completed the

The Clarinet Research Paper
The clarinet is a single reed woodwind instrument with a cylindrical tube. The clarinet is a very
interesting instrument that plays good music. It is typically used in band ensembles. It is made out
of either plastic or wood. The reed is a part of the clarinet that it can t be played without. The
clarinetwas originated a long time ago and it has an interesting manufacturing process.
The clarinet originated around 2700 B.C. in Egypt. The Egyptians created this instrument called the
zummara (sometimes called the memet). The zummara was a single reed instrument, much like the
modern day clarinet. Different than the clarinet, the zummara had two tubes instead of one. The
first true single reed instrument was called the chalumeau. The chalumeau ... Show more content on

First they they cut logs to 3 4 feet long then they have to season the wood. To season the wood
they either have to keep it in open air for several months or they dry it in a kiln. Then the logs
are split and sawed to the correct lengths of the clarinet body pieces. The body pieces look like
long rectangular blocks and pyramidal shapes for the barrel. These pieces are called billets. When
the manufacturer receives the billets, workers inspect the lot. Then skilled workers place the
billets on a borer, which drills a hole lengthwise through the center of each piece. (Clarinet). After
they drill it, the wood then is shaped like a cylinder. Then they make the wood smooth and they
season the wood again. When the wood is seasoned again they then cut it into the size of the actual
clarinet. Then they paint it with black dye. On the plastic models, they make the body parts for the
clarinet through injection molding. Then they melt plastic pellets and put them in the molds. Then
they may have to fix it up a little unless it came out of the mold perfectly. The next step is boring
the holes. They use different drill bits for this because not all the holes are the same size. Then they
begin to construct the keys. They usually use casts for this step. When the keys are finished they
have put the pads on them. Then they mount the keys on small posts and put them on the clarinet.
They then put the final touches on the clarinet

The Nature Of Face Processing Impairments
PY3003 Autistic Spectrum Disorders
What is the nature of face processing impairments in autism?
Student ID: 1310023
Word count: 1257 Face processing deficits in ASD are not a result of inability how well faces are
processed but rather a matter of mechanism in what way this is accomplished. Although some have
found no differences in performance compared to controls (Adolphs, Sears Piven, 2001; Neumann
et al., 2006; Celani et al., 1999), abnormalities on the behavioural (e.g. Langdell, 1978; Joseph
Tanaka, 2002;) and neural (Schultz et al., 2000; Pierce et al., 2001) level are consistently observed.
Abnormalities might not always be detected, since autistic individuals could utilise compensatory
mechanisms, thus performing similarly to controls on some tasks (Harms, Martin Wallace, 2010).
Methodological differences, higher functioning and older samples, and lack of consistency in
controls could also account for the conflicting results. Still, the literature mostly suggests that
autistic people process faces in a qualitatively different manner.
Insight into the causes of this alternative mechanism can help reverse its effects to an extent, or
possibly diagnose autism earlier. Moreover, face processing deficits might underpin the social and
affective difficulties associated with autism, in which case improving face processing abilities
could ameliorate these difficulties. Understanding of the deficits causes is only possible in the
context of typical face

Case Study Of The Iran Nuclear Program
To: Secretary of State
From: Gregory J. Abide
Date: November 27th, 2017
PROBLEM:
The current IAEA inspections to verify compliance of safe nuclear activities under the NPT do not
provide timely enough detection to safeguard against military conversion by countries such as Iran.
SOLUTION:
The United States uses the Iran Deal and its attempted strengthening as the mechanism to modernize
IAEA safeguards for all countries in order to save the NPT.
BACKGROUND:
The issues that have been encountered with the Iran nuclear program are symptoms of a larger
problem when it comes to enrichment, reprocessing, bulk holding of nuclear fuel, and other
activities deemed safe by the IAEA. Due to the inherent danger and dual purpose of current safe ...

Shortly after ratifying its agreement with the IAEA in 1992, North Korea refused requests for
IAEA inspections in 1993 of two sites based upon evidence that North Korea had been cheating on
its commitments and had a small stockpile undeclared plutonium. Following this, the US
negotiated the 1994 Agreed Framework with North Korea and the IAEA. Throughout the decade,
North Korea s nuclear program seemed to abide by the program, despite multiple violations of
banned ballistic missile research and testing. North Korea declared its withdrawal from the NPT in
2003 following allegations of clandestine nuclear research in 2002, and eventually conducted its
first successful nuclear weapons test in 2006.
Iran has pursued what it claims to be a peaceful nuclear program since prior to the Iranian
Revolution of 1979. The Iranian Revolution ended U.S. support for the program, which was further
setback by Iraq bombing the Russian built Bushehr reactors as they were undergoing construction
in 1988 1989 during the Iraq Iran War. In the early 1990 s, Iran signed separate nuclear support
agreements with China and Russia in continued pursuit of peaceful nuclear energy, which it
continued through the decade.

the NPT, leading to Iran agree with the EU3 (Britain, France, and

Comparing Sacrifice In Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
When deciding between two items, their benefits are weighed against each other, and the more
favorable selection is seen as the better. The 1937 publication of the book Of Mice and Men by
John Steinbeck provides a story about friendship and sacrifice, through the connection between two
unlikely travelers, George Milton and Lennie Small. With a parallel story, the 1992 MGM film
adaptation of the book directed by Gary Sinise offers a second perspective to the same subject. Each
with its own strengths, both forms generally convey a similar story, but with slightly different
elements. As each to their own, a portion of the divided crowd favors the novel, rather than the film.
Although the reasons are plentiful, some argue that the events and emotions... Show more content

Rather, the depth created by the scenes absent from the film outdoes that created by the
additional scenes present in it. For example, when the workers are away at town, Lennie and
Candy find themselves in Crook s room, where the three converse about the possibility of
owning land. However, Curley s wife enters and, when Crooks demands that she leave, she
belittles him, telling him, you keep your place then, Nigger. I could get you strung up on a tree
so easy it ain t even funny (Steinbeck 81). Her diatribe at Crooks clearly shows the distinction
made between herself, as a white woman, and Crooks, as a colored man. In an attempt to raise
herself, she shows that he is inferior and powerless, due to the color of his skin. Also, with the use
of the word Nigger, Steinbeck communicates how the society within the book perceives African
Americans as subordinate. With the inferiority brought unto Crooks, he emphasizes upon racism,
in such a way that the modern audience is reminded of the past acceptance of the concept. By
focusing on racism, Steinbeck also focuses on the social hierarchy present on the ranch, in which
African Americans are considered to be the lowest, in spite of one s gender and capabilities.
Through this one event, Steinbeck conveys the ideas of racism and social hierarchy, to which the
film lacks. Thus, by providing the story with

Personal Reflection Of Journalism As An Elective Class
When I first selected Journalism as my Elective class I would be challenged in ways I had never
experienced in the conventional classroom before. After a full year of the class, I found that
while this was demonstrated to be true, the real challenge came from learning how to channel my
self motivation and intrinsic passion as opposed to external pressures like harsh due dates and
grading. I have never before in my life been given the opportunity to write about my passions and
interests for a grade, nor have I had the chance to write on behalf of a respected school institution.
My motivations in journalismwere essentially flipped from those of the conventional classroom,
where my grades are motivated by the institutional pressures of the school, and my actual learning
of the subject is motivated by my personal interest in the class. Instead in journalism, my grades
are dependent on my personal interests, and my actual learning of the subject is dependent on the
institutional pressures of working for such an esteemed organization. This has provided me with a
much more realistic educational experience, relative to the professional world, as I am motivated
internally to produce content at the job of my choice and externally to conform to the expectations
of my employer. I chose to take journalism to see if I could accountably manage my work without
many of the guidelines and structure presented in most classes, and I feel that, 12+ quality articles
later, I have

Terrorism and the Just War Tradition Essay
Terrorism and the Just War Tradition
ItВґs important, at the outset, to understand what the just war tradition is, and isnВґt. The just war
tradition is not an algebra that provides custom made, clear cut answers under all circumstances.
Rather, it is a kind of ethical calculus, in which moral reasoning and rigorous empirical analysis are
meant to work together, in order to provide guidance to public authorities on whom the
responsibilities of decision making fall. This essay will study the tradition and apply it to the Sept.
11 aftermath.
From its beginnings in St. Augustine, just war thinking has been based on the presumption better,
the classic moral judgment that rightly constituted public authorities have the ... Show more content

Have other remedies been tried and found wanting or are other remedies prima facie unlikely to be
effective? Is there a reasonable chance of success?
It is only when these prior moral questions have been answered that the second set of just war
criteria what scholars call the ius in bello or war conduct law come into play, logically. The
positive answers to the first set of questions, the war decision questions, create the moral framework
for addressing the two great war conduct issues: proportionality, which requires the use of no more
force than necessary to vindicate the just cause; and discrimination, or what we today call non
combatant immunity.
Under the moral pressures created by the threat of nuclear war, our attention focused almost
exclusively on war conduct questions in the decades after World War II. This, in turn, led to what
can only be described as an inversion of the just war tradition: the claim, frequently encountered in
both official and scholarly commentary today, that the just war tradition begins with a presumption
against violence.
It does not. It did not begin with such a presumption historically, and it cannot begin with such a
presumption theologically.

The Fictional Character Cleopatra Essay
The Fictional Character Cleopatra The fictional character of Cleopatra has captured the
imaginations of people the world over. Helen of Troy was said to have had the face that launched
a thousand ships. Cleopatra was not simply a beautiful and passive face, but indeed commanded
navies as well as the heart of the powerful Mark Antony. Looking at these two facts from the play
one may see the political brilliance in her affections, but also the dichotomy. Which one of her
loves is true, and which is of an illusory nature? There is a constant battle between her passion
towards the mighty Roman and her yearning for sovereignty and the glory of Egypt on her own
terms. This question certainly embroils the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the virgin queen she bore no heirs, and curiously Shakespeare s works have a distinct lack of
mother characters. Cleopatra, historically the mother of Julius Caesar and Mark Antony s children,
is only referred to as a matriarch once and briefly in this particular play. Motherhood was not a new
theme for women characters, but power, lust, learnedness, intelligence, and ambition were
somewhat more novel.
Cleopatra is seen by people of the 21st century as the last symbolic link with the glorious and
opulent empire of ancient Egypt. This view would have been largely shared by the audience of the
17th century as well. There has always been a human fascination with power and abundance.
Antony and Cleopatra is richly endowed with imagery of this.

something that people achieve a particular exceptional skills that others cannot. Today s world
some people believe that talent is given by God when a child comes to this world, and all you
need to succeed at anything is talent. It is clear that everyone is gifted with a talent by God but
the level of it differs. Some other, on the other hand, claim that any person can be trained to be
talented; therefore, your talent is your choice. Geoffrey Colvin wrote, The critical reality is that
we are not hostage to some naturally granted level of talent. We can make ourself what we will .

For them, how else could the divine music that poured out of a child size body be explained? The
idealization of Mozart s genius was complete by the end of the nineteenth century. Mozart
composes with his violin in one hand and music has appeared miraculously on his stand in the
other. The message is unmistakable: Mortals use quills, Mozart simply wills (Solomon) On the
Road The temptation to take his two prodigies on the road proved irresistible to Leopold, who
assumed sole responsibility for Mozart s education. Between 1762 and 1766, the Mozarts
appeared at almost every major court in Europe. Wolfgang dazzled audiences with his ability to
read difficult music at sight and to improvise. In London, as elsewhere, the Mozarts hobnobbed
with the leading musicians. Probably the most important of these was Johann Christian Bach, the
youngest son of Johann Sebastian. It is no accident that Mozart s early symphonies, composed in
London, are often stylistically indistinguishable from those of J. C. Bach. When Mozart was 13,
his prowess as a keyboard player, violinist, improviser, and composer were already legendary.
When Mozart was 21 he wrote Paris Symphony, N31 while he was in Paris looking for a music
position. He was thoroughly disenchanted with the French and their music (Internet). From 1768 to

The Importance Of The Aging Population In The United States

Social definition of aging and the elderly It is considered senior to any person who is 65 or
older. However, it is necessary to warn about the arbitrariness of this decision: why are not
estimated 60 years, or 70, as the lower limit when classifying this population group?. The
relieved exercise of combining from the age of 65 to the elderly with the retirees cannot be
taken as a solid criterion since it has become a common practice in our societies to invite many
workers to leave the labor market at a later age early; not forgetting that there are plenty of
people who never retire because, either materially or formally, they have never been inserted in
such a market. In any case, does anyone who has 65 years of age respond to the same
sociological profile (characteristics such as his health, educational level, economic position,
family network, even his appearance) than the one who had the same age a couple of decades ago
?. Absolutely. In addition to being arbitrary, it is an artificial decision because no one gets up one

Argumentative Essay On Federalist 10
The purpose of the federalist paper is to convince people whether or not they are going to ratify the
new constitution. The founding fathers of the US constitution, whom are James Madison,
Alexander Hamilton and John Jay had as purpose the ratification of the constitution by the US
citizens. Indeed, Federalist paper are a compilation of 85 articles. Federalist paper number 10 has
been written by James Madison. In this paper the main question that Madison s tries to answer and
gives arguments to is: Why have a union?
In federalist 10, the word faction is often used. Madison gives a definition to faction. Faction is
something bad that violates rights. As he says it is a number of citizens that has common impulse

From my point of view some arguments that Madison takes into consideration might be wrong.
His arguments are biased it is the good from the side and the evil from the other. Large republic,
means liberty, freedom of opinion and sleekness of the common interest whereas in the other hand
small republic is the pursuit of its own interest and where it is easier to execute oppression since it
is a smaller group with the same opinions. However, I honestly think that the best system for the
United States is a large republic, in other words a union of each states. My statement takes into
consideration the fact that the United States is a big country (size speaking), with diverse people
and its wealth is spread in different states. Politically speaking, a system based on a union can only
help the country to share its goods, where people think about the common interest and where their
acts are not based on their passion but their reason. Besides, it doesn t mean that each states cannot

  • 2. German Stereotypes In WWII Films German Stereotypes carried on by WWII films Cold, Nazi, heavy accent. Those are some of the common stereotypes of German in typical everyday life. These stereotypes are not the truth about Germans and Germany as all other stereotypes aren t the truth or the only truth. The strangest thing about the typical German stereotypesis that all of the common ones can be traced to WWI, WWII or are revivals of actions of those times through war films or stories. The definition of a stereotype from Google is: a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing (Definition). This definition makes it very simple for us to see how stereotypes can come about and also how they can effect someone. If you have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is also due with most movies in that they often play along with a trope or stereotype to try a compact or make a character more relatable or identifiable. War films since they became pretty popular in world war times, due to the necessary need to get people in support the war and supports the troops so most use the common stereotypes and I would also argue made them more popular. When you have a formula you can follow in a script which will lead to your audience being able to easily identify the bad guy, it makes it easier for a film to be successful. So for example in the Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark film you have the typical German stereotype with the Nazi team searching for the Ark of the Covenant to make Hitler s army invincible. That idea of cold heartless team of people only working towards helping Hitler and the war is something that many people of the time wouldn t have a hard time identifying as bad. Raiders of the Lost Ark doesn t quite fit in the war film genre but still has the same use of stereotypes to create the big evil for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Difference Between Liberalism And Anarchism The multiple strands of both liberalism and anarchism prevent any continuous agreement between the main ideas of the two ideologies. The fundamental belief that mankind comprises rational free thinking individuals is common to both view points. However, the level to which the individual can be trusted differs between the two. Anarchists place greater emphasis on the ability for individuals to excel without the interference of an overarching body. Liberals argue that the state is a needed device to ensure that the liberty of each individual is maintained and not limited by other individuals. Liberals believe that individuals are rational and able to recognise their own self interest, this being the main reason why liberals support high levels of individual freedom only constrained to some extent by the state. Liberal individualism, especially within classical liberalism, means that individuals are atomistic and that they will act rationally in support of their own self interest rather than in the interests of society as a whole. Although the liberal adoption of laissez faire economics promotes an atomistic view on individuals, it also argues that an atomistic approach to economics will benefit the entirety of society. However, modern liberals have developed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, both ideologies struggle to have a distinct set of agreed ideas and therefore a clean comparison of the key ideas of each ideology is difficult. The various anarchist views of economic systems fundamentally disagree with the economic principles of both classical and modern liberalism. Although both have a positive outlook on human nature they disagree on the extent to which humans require a structure within which to operate. Anarchism can therefore be seen as the extreme liberal and extreme socialist forms of liberalism. Anarchism, in all forms, is the critique of the centrist liberal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Differences in Cultural Cultural Differences between Japan and U.S. There are many cultural differences between the U.S. and Japan. Each country has their culture and lifestyle. While we may feel that Japanese cultural and lifestyle seems strange, they likewise look at Americans as being different. It is important to realize that Japanese and American cultureis swayed by the society of people. Americans belong to a number of subcultures due to immigration, while Japanese society has less immigration and is not as diverse when it comes to subcultures. Since there are so many cultural differences between Japan and the U.S., we cannot discuss its entirety but review a few differences as it relates to the family, greeting, business, and government. First, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... American schools have more access to new technology then Japanese school and students are able to advance more rapidly in technology. Another noticeable culture difference between America and Japan is business practices. In Japan, business relationships begin with an exchange of business cards. To be acceptable to Japanese, the card should have English on one side and Japanese on the other. The card is accepted with both hands and with a bow. It is read with interest otherwise the Japanese consider you as being rude and it may damage the business relationship. Business practices are different than American business practices because Japanese emphasize teamwork and Americans are more concerned with individual enterprise. Punctuality and reliability is valued greatly in Japan. Although it is changing, seniority has traditionally been more important to Japanese business than achievement or skills. Japanese believe strongly in loyalty to the company. The company s needs come first and individual needs are secondary. Whereas Americans feel they have rights and these rights and come before loyalty to the company. If their rights are not met, they go to higher powers or file complaints. One important value the Japanese has is the process of greeting individuals. They believe greetings heightened sense of formality and professionalism, which underlies respect. • 5. The High Cost of College Tuition College Tuition The cost of college education in the 21st century is absolutely ridiculous. although colleges have to make money to support things like sports, it is making it so more and more kids aren t going to college, and the kids who do go are coming out with huge amounts of debt. People who go to college aren t coming out with the job that they think they deserve, which is leading to lower income, and a harder time paying off their college debt. The first part of this paper is going to be talking about how college is so over priced and why it shouldn t be so expensive. By colleges making the price of their tuition so high it is making it so that less kids are able to go to college, which makes it so that when kids come out of high school they are working at low end jobs and are having trouble making enough money to support themselves. In 1930 tuition was fairly low, and students could attend wharton Business school for $250 (best online colleges). This relates back to the thesis about how less kids are going to college because of how much money it. back in 1930 almost 70% of kids went to college. In 2013 only about 50% of high school grads are going to college. And for the 50% of kids who are going to college, most of them are coming out with huge amounts of debt that is taking them year to pay off. Because of the drastic rise in college tuition, it has made it so that the kids who are going to college are coming out with more debt than they can handle. Between ... [ the reader] in the company of his own solitary imagination Morrison proclaims in Memory, Creation, and Writing( Memory, Creating and Writing 387 ). Toni Morrison has a unique and distinctive style of writing that allows her to stand out from other authors. In her pieces, Morrison incorporates various writing techniques that allow her and the readers to construct the meaning of her work. One type of stylistic approach Morrison takes to her writing is that she draws extensively from fables and folklore. In her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most prime example of the Gullah tale in the text is in the foreword section of the novel. Morrison tells a story of a story where a man named Solomon escapes slavery while at the same time abandoning his family. This allusion is a connection to the Gullah stories of the slaves who would fly back to Africa to free themselves. The allusion appears throughout the rest of the novel. For instance, in the first chapter, an insurance agent by the name of Robert Smith announced that he would fly off the roof of Mercy, a local hospital, to the other side of Lake Superior. I will take off from Mercy and fly away on my own wings, he said ( Song of Solomon 3). More references to flight and the Gullah tale are made in the novel; Song of Solomon ends with the flight of Milkman Dead off Solomon s Leap. Milkman stopped waving and narrowed his eyes. He could just make out Guitar s head and shoulders in the dark...Without wiping away the tears, taking a deep breath, or even bending his knees he leaped (SOS 337). The reference to the tale in the novel helps to establish equivalence between the characters and the readers. In other words, by renewing the tale in her novel, the message of the tale becomes more comprehensible to the readers especially to a new generation of African American readers who can learn about and relate to ... • 7. Elite Running Research Paper Introduction: For my Internal Assessment, I am going to investigate the characteristics of elite runners. As a high school track and field and cross country athlete, I am amazed by the abilities of elite runners, who seem to glide through the air effortlessly. By researching the characteristics of their running, I believe that I can become a better runner by implementing some of their mechanics. In theory, running may seem like a simple motion. However, maintaining proper form while physically exerting every muscle in your lower body is no simple task. Every four years, the best athletes from around the globe come together to compete in the Summer Olympic Games. Earlier this year, athletes from just under 200 countries competed in track and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start, I explored the relationship that existed between distance and speed. The speeds of the top three male and female athletes at each distance have been plotted. For both men and women, there is an inverse exponential relationship between the speed of the athlete and the event distance. This trend shows a logical relationship because as the distance of a race increases, the athletes are going to be slower because running for a longer amount of time requires energy to be conserved. In order to develop an equation which represents this relationship, I am going to graph the speed of each athlete against the log of their distance. Because this is an exponential relationship, the log of x is proportional to speed. This means that when log of distance is plotted along the x axis, a linear trend will be produced. Once these points are plotted, I will calculate a regression line using linear regression. Once this equation is found, log x can be substituted into the equation for the value of x, this new equation would be the regression line for the correlation between speed and ... Millions of Americans cast their vote every election day to make sure their voices are heard on who is going to run their country and what new policies they will bring with them. However, citizens of Takoma have come to the realization, that the voting age should be even lower in order for society to have change. • 9. Analysis Of The Movie Fried Green Tomatoes My first impressions of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes was that it was a fluff and light movie. The previews of the movie would lead one to believe that myself included. I was wrong. The first part of the movie was set in 1930 s. This part of the movie addressed the issue of racism and ageism before the time of the Civil Rights Movement. When the movie moves in to present day, the story covers the struggles Evelyn is experiencing with menopause, or as it was sometime called; the change of life. This is her avenging persona that rights the wrongs inflicted upon women everywhere. When Ninny is first met by Evelyn, the first perception is that she is a senile old lady, which is a typical view of ageism and the disregard society has of the elderly. This is typical of ageism, systemic stereotyping of and discrimination against people because they are old (Touhey, 2016, p.66). Ninny s reminiscing cultivates a sense of security through recounting of comforting memories (Touhey, 2016, p. 68). But as the time passes, Evelyn hears the stories of the strength of her feminine predecessors gaining the strength to fight through the issues that plague her. Ninny gained a friend and a sense of security while Evelyn gained self confidence. • 11. Pompey s Use Of Evil In Measure For Measure In this short passage of Measure for Measure, the theme is evil is persuasive. Shakespeare uses repetition to convey this idea. Evil is being represented by Pompey who Elbow calls, O thou caitiff, O thou varlet, O thou wicked/ Hannibal! (2.1.156 157). The words caitiff, varlet, and wicked are repeated many times throughout the passage to give emphasis to Pompey s evil, cheating character. Pompey is brought to court to explain why he used Elbow s wife as a prostitute by pimping her out to Master Froth. He uses persuasion to try to get away of imprisonment for his crime. First he says, Once sir? There was nothing done to her once (2.1.128) He starts the conversation by trying to say that what he did was a good thing, or else it would not have happened more than once. Then, instead of just telling Escalus what happens, he says, I beseech your honour, ask me? (2.1.130) He is dying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only an honest Christian would take an oath upon a bible, so he uses this idea to trick everyone in believing in what he is saying. He then refers to Froth as Master, a word usually used in reference to God. Early in the passage Pompey says, How could Master Froth do the constable s wife any/ harm? (2.1.42 43). One can again relate Froth to God, as not only is he being called Master, but he is being seen as someone who can do no harm, only good. Pompey seems to portray Elbow s wife s prostitution as a sacrifice to God (Froth). However, he is completely aware that he has committed a crime. This awareness can be understood in his repetitive use of the word beseech, which mean to implore. When someone is imploring, he or she is asking for mercy and only someone who has does not deserve mercy will ask for it. Therefore, Pompey knows he needs to ask for mercy because it will not simply be handed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is believed that this talismanic object and 32 other bracelets like this one, comes from Upper Egypt and began to be made during the MamlЕ«k period. Michael Dols, through an analysis of numerous sources, has contended that the use of the occult science in Medieval Islam was more prevalent than previously acknowledged in the scholastic field. Al Saleh corroborates with Dols, by arguing that the continuous conquests in the name of Islam engendered an increase in Islamic magical beliefs, because cultural encounter and exchange were inevitable. Similarly, to the refutation of astrology, the discontentment shown towards talisman by the traditionalist implies that the practice and belief of talisman had reached levels of apprehension for the traditionalist. Livingston acknowledges this by highlighting that in the 14th century, a popular belief in the occult science had been seen by some to endanger the religious foundation of Islamic MamlЕ«k. Furthermore, some historians suggest that there was a belief among the amД«rs in the talismanic influences of ancient carved statues, conceivably of pharaonic origins, within the MamlЕ«k period. Indeed, then the use of the talisman and the occult was part of the mainstream medieval MamlЕ«k culture. It may have not been acknowledged previously, as the number of published textual sources concerning the occult science during MamlЕ«k period is difficult to come across. Moreover, deliberating the visual and material evidence discussed in this chapter, we come see that the occult manifested in many forms, ranging from paper scrolls to jewellery. Remarkably, textual occultist treatises were far ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So many significant objects are broken by the end of the book, The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, which is a novel about a bunch of inexperienced boys being trapped together on an island and are forced to find means of survival. There are a lot of symbols in this book that all represent the only way they can survive. Each symbol represents a piece of the world and how it functions. • 16. The Reign Of The Carolingian Dynasty Although the reign of the Carolingian dynasty occupied only a brief part of the entirety of the medieval era, the Carolingian Empire that was established during that period made both a historical and cultural impact on medieval society that would resonate for years to come. Until the empire fell in 888, the Carolingian House of the Franksinitially brought stability and progress to most of Europe, as well as pioneering a cultural and intellectual renaissance that influenced the remainder of the Middle Ages. Although there were various Carolingian rulers who aided these advances, it is fair to say that Carolingian developments reached their peak during the reign of Charlemagne, a leader and reformer of the church who fully appreciated the importance of learning and education. Throughout his reign, he established himself, as a ruler, and his empire as an example that subsequent Kings of the Middle Ages would aim to obtain and uphold. In addition, Charlemagne created a cultural legacy that allowed the empire to prosper and formed links between the medieval world and the ancient world. With this in mind, this essay will principally explore the positive aspects of the Carolingian legacy and the ways in which they were fundamental to the development of medieval society, focusing on the most significant successes during the reign of Charlemagne. It will also briefly touch upon the role of other Carolingian leaders as well as the societal impact of the eventual dissolution of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women campaigners, and the men who helped them to achieve their goal, were raising the point of inequalities in marriage, education, paid employment and politics. Most of those who didn t support in favour for women s rights, strongly valued the differences between men and woman. A woman s place was seen a mainly domestic one. As they were seen as the mother and homemaker, the source of love and moral guidance. Whereas men were seen to be more in charge of the public world of business and politics. It was considered the task of men to start building the new colony. At the same time, a large percentage of women strongly believed that if they had access to education and training men received. They could achieve as much as men did. Both beliefs became apparent, especially when women campaigned for change. Their argument was that their positive moral influence on general public life was needed to ensure the protection of women, children and home life, and they also asserted their right to have access to the privileges of citizenship that men enjoyed. • 23. The Inertial Navigation System ( Ins ) The inertial navigation system (INS) is a highly complex device which utilises very sensitive sensors to generate movement information and a computer to develop an algorithm of motion over time. The INS can be described as very sophisticated dread reckoning. The sensors which are used in an INS are accelerometers and gyroscopes which are further linked to a computer. The main consideration is that these highly sensitive and advanced sensors used in an INS still have errors from accuracy limitations in units of basic design or original outdated concepts. The accuracy can be improved with more complex and updated integration which includes the use of the better and more advanced components. To understand the errors associated with INS, a closer look into the flow of information is essential. The north facing accelerometer is mounted to a platform which is supported by gyroscopes. Any accelerations detected are given to the first stage integrator which uses the time component to develop velocity data. The second integrator uses the velocity data and time to calculate the distance travelled which is then added to the present position to generate a new present position. The system uses a backwards feedback loop of velocity data to the gyroscopes to make accelerometer platform perpendicular to the local gravity vector. This model is used for both north facing and east facing platforms and combined with the secant multiplier. The basic system designs would carry a greater error but ... The 1920s, a time of celebration and prosperity, eventually ended as a result of a sudden economic crash, because of the effects from the times. During the World War I (1914 1918), women accepted the jobs that men had been working before they went on to fight for the U.S. Many women worked in factories, with heavy machinery, on farms, or even in offices as clerks. After the war, many women kept their jobs as clerks and secretaries. • 30. The Story Of The Western Wing, The Peony Pavilion, And The... In traditional Chinese theater, females, and particularly young girls, are perceived as property. Their role in society is to get married to a male from another family of equal or higher social status. In fact, the role of a woman is so set and stone that no matter how they were brought up, whether or not they are noble or educated, does not seem to contribute to their destined fate. The traditional Chinese society is so specific and consistent in determining the fate of females based on social hierarchy that females seem to have no choice in the matter. Often, the decision is made by their parents and the females are forced to simply comply. In three classic Chinese operas, The Story of the Western Wing, The Peony Pavilion, and The Peach Blossom Fan, the main female characters strive to move against societal norms by choosing their own destinies, hence choosing their male partners. The classics make this freedom so valuable to the point that it is almost unachievable. By creating female leads who fight against their own destinies, authors of each play use irony to criticize traditional Chinese social structure. To show this irony, three heroines whom are all upper class, educated, and very sheltered by their families and societal role of a womanare struck by grief when deciding to choose their own fate. In The Photographer Into War Torn Afghanistan with Doctors Without Borders, one of the themes evident within the book is the difference between the stereotypes of Afghan people and who they actually are. The photographer, Didier Lefevre, is fueled by, a profound respect and love for the people of Afghanistan, and a belief in the importance of their work ( Lefevre x). The importance in that work was to show humanity in the faces the media portrays as terrorists. The media also portrays Afghanis for being uneducated, sheltered, and driven by religion. Throughout the book there are examples of Afghans that deserve empathy, but one page stood out from the rest: page 176. It displays Bassir Khan s businessmen and bodyguard sitting unamused in the first panel, with the follow up panels of them leaving Didier in the room. The first panel in specific represents both the humanitarian and sheltered themes of the book. What is most interesting about the first panel, is the image itself confirms racial ambiguities. On August 6, 1945, during World War II (1939 45), an American B 29 bomber dropped the world s first deployed Atomic Bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people; tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure (History.com) America kept its word and the first bomb struck Hiroshima. Many casualties were taken in Japan and it severely hurt Japan s spirit and the nation s physical abilities. Japan however did not stop fighting until a second Atomic Bomb was dropped in Japan. Three days later, on August 9, a plutonium implosion type (Fat Man) bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Within the first two to four months following the bombings, the acute effects of the Atomic Bombings had killed 90,000 146,000 people in Hiroshima and 39,000 80,000 in Nagasaki; roughly half of the deaths in each city occurred on the first day. INTRODUCTION Data itself is useless, until it is mined and transformed into a valuable source of knowledge discovery. Due to its conversion into useful information, data mining has become the leading source being used in many fields worldwide. Data mining is based on complex algorithms that allow for the segmentation of data to identify patterns and trends, detect anomalies, and predict the probability of various situational outcomes. [1] Many organizations from healthcare to multimedia and more are relaying on data and getting developed through the use of it. Regardless of how, data warehouse changed its rhythm and dimension in terms of measurements such as: variety, volume and velocity. Today, one can see the current trends of data mining in different fields such as social networks, healthcare and businesses. As data mining is giving the opportunity for those fields to get advanced, Big Data is also opening up new doors within itself as the new trends emerge. However, Big Data suggests something more than just an analysis of huge volumes of information. The problem is not that the organizations create high volume of data, but the fact that most of them are presented in a format consisting with traditionally poor structured form of database such as: a web based magazines, images, videos, text documents, machine code and geospatial data . Healthcare administrators must be adept in financial skills in order to maintain their organizations and to meet the new demands of the changing healthcare laws. Budgeting is the process of converting the operating plan into monetary terms and are a control standard against which superiors can easily measure the performance of subordinates (Nowicki, 2015, p. 281). This approach is beneficial for areas that change rapidly but can be difficult to implement because of the large time commitment to develop, increased anxiety with staff members, and other administrative and communication requirements (Nowicki, 2015). For organizations that have limited budgets and staffing, this approach could be problematic to implement. Comprehensive Comprehensive budgeting integrates all budgets for the organization into one large methodology (Nowicki, 2015). Seeing as many organizations utilize a top down approach with budgeting, a comprehensive approach would be maintained by senior management while junior management would focus on performance instead of budgetary issues. No matter the design approach, all of management should understand the concepts of the budget and monitor performance. Ultimately it is the responsibility of the CEO, CFO, and/or senior management to monitor and evaluate if the organization is maintaining the budget through operations. The board of directors should review the organization s budget for the year, oversee major expenditures, and ensure that strategic goals are being met by the organization. It is typically used in band ensembles. It is made out of either plastic or wood. The reed is a part of the clarinet that it can t be played without. The clarinetwas originated a long time ago and it has an interesting manufacturing process. The clarinet originated around 2700 B.C. in Egypt. The Egyptians created this instrument called the zummara (sometimes called the memet). The zummara was a single reed instrument, much like the modern day clarinet. First they they cut logs to 3 4 feet long then they have to season the wood. To season the wood they either have to keep it in open air for several months or they dry it in a kiln. Then the logs are split and sawed to the correct lengths of the clarinet body pieces. The body pieces look like long rectangular blocks and pyramidal shapes for the barrel. These pieces are called billets. When the manufacturer receives the billets, workers inspect the lot. Then skilled workers place the billets on a borer, which drills a hole lengthwise through the center of each piece. (Clarinet). After they drill it, the wood then is shaped like a cylinder. Then they make the wood smooth and they season the wood again. When the wood is seasoned again they then cut it into the size of the actual clarinet. Then they paint it with black dye. On the plastic models, they make the body parts for the clarinet through injection molding. Then they melt plastic pellets and put them in the molds. Then they may have to fix it up a little unless it came out of the mold perfectly. The next step is boring the holes. They use different drill bits for this because not all the holes are the same size. Then they begin to construct the keys. They usually use casts for this step. When the keys are finished they have put the pads on them. Then they mount the keys on small posts and put them on the clarinet. They then put the final touches on the clarinet ... Student ID: 1310023 Word count: 1257 Face processing deficits in ASD are not a result of inability how well faces are processed but rather a matter of mechanism in what way this is accomplished. Although some have found no differences in performance compared to controls (Adolphs, Sears Piven, 2001; Neumann et al., 2006; Celani et al., 1999), abnormalities on the behavioural (e.g. Langdell, 1978; Joseph Tanaka, 2002;) and neural (Schultz et al., 2000; Pierce et al., 2001) level are consistently observed. Abnormalities might not always be detected, since autistic individuals could utilise compensatory mechanisms, thus performing similarly to controls on some tasks (Harms, Martin Wallace, 2010). Methodological differences, higher functioning and older samples, and lack of consistency in controls could also account for the conflicting results. Still, the literature mostly suggests that autistic people process faces in a qualitatively different manner. Insight into the causes of this alternative mechanism can help reverse its effects to an extent, or possibly diagnose autism earlier. Moreover, face processing deficits might underpin the social and affective difficulties associated with autism, in which case improving face processing abilities could ameliorate these difficulties. Understanding of the deficits causes is only possible in the context of typical face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With a parallel story, the 1992 MGM film adaptation of the book directed by Gary Sinise offers a second perspective to the same subject. Also, with the use of the word Nigger, Steinbeck communicates how the society within the book perceives African Americans as subordinate. With the inferiority brought unto Crooks, he emphasizes upon racism, in such a way that the modern audience is reminded of the past acceptance of the concept. By focusing on racism, Steinbeck also focuses on the social hierarchy present on the ranch, in which African Americans are considered to be the lowest, in spite of one s gender and capabilities. Rather, it is a kind of ethical calculus, in which moral reasoning and rigorous empirical analysis are meant to work together, in order to provide guidance to public authorities on whom the responsibilities of decision making fall. The positive answers to the first set of questions, the war decision questions, create the moral framework for addressing the two great war conduct issues: proportionality, which requires the use of no more force than necessary to vindicate the just cause; and discrimination, or what we today call non combatant immunity. Under the moral pressures created by the threat of nuclear war, our attention focused almost exclusively on war conduct questions in the decades after World War II. This, in turn, led to what can only be described as an inversion of the just war tradition: the claim, frequently encountered in both official and scholarly commentary today, that the just war tradition begins with a presumption against violence. It does not. It did not begin with such a presumption historically, and it cannot begin with such a presumption theologically. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The aging population has become one of the most worrying issues in THE UNITED STATES. Their progress, observed in unison, and above all the speed that has been acquiring since the seventies, has caused some fear not only in the political field but also at the academic level. With a background dominated by medicine, economics, psychology, demography, sociology and other sciences (social and health) have usually addressed agingas a problem and characterize old, elderly, elderly, grandparents, retirees or senior citizens regarding passivity, burden or dependency. Here and there, old agehas been viewed negatively. A large part of the geriatrics or gerontology manuals published in the 1990s or earlier contained lessons on the deficits and disorders that accumulate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Social definition of aging and the elderly It is considered senior to any person who is 65 or older. However, it is necessary to warn about the arbitrariness of this decision: why are not estimated 60 years, or 70, as the lower limit when classifying this population group?. The relieved exercise of combining from the age of 65 to the elderly with the retirees cannot be taken as a solid criterion since it has become a common practice in our societies to invite many workers to leave the labor market at a later age early; not forgetting that there are plenty of people who never retire because, either materially or formally, they have never been inserted in such a market. His arguments are biased it is the good from the side and the evil from the other. Large republic, means liberty, freedom of opinion and sleekness of the common interest whereas in the other hand small republic is the pursuit of its own interest and where it is easier to execute oppression since it is a smaller group with the same opinions. However, I honestly think that the best system for the United States is a large republic, in other words a union of each states. My statement takes into consideration the fact that the United States is a big country (size speaking), with diverse people and its wealth is spread in different states. Politically speaking, a system based on a union can only help the country to share its goods, where people think about the common interest and where their acts are not based on their passion but their reason. Besides, it doesn t mean that each states cannot be independent and have their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
