The Status Quo of Higher Education in the United Kingdom
Literature review 4000 less p.3
The status quo of higher education in the United Kingdom (UK): internationalized, leading but
critical. The first part of this literature review aim is to use exhaustive evidence to critically evaluate
the position of higher education stands in the UK, and in turn try to expose the ambivalent issues that
are caused by globalization from a macro perspective.
The second part is based on international students experiential point of view, look into the purposes of
studying abroad and demonstrate the nostalgic mentality of being away from home.
Internationalization of Higher Education in UK
In the 19th century Great Britain was known as the empire on which the sun never sets , especially in
the Victorian Era (1837 1909), the higher education system grew rapidly due to the English industry
revolution in order to fulfill the demand of talents. The oldest university in UK also in the English
speaking world is University of Oxford which established around 1096 (Oxford 2014). Education city
(Wildavsky 2010, p.53), city like Oxford and London, cities built surround by the best education
institutions, open attitude to different culture and the high level of civilization. For 800 years, UK has
been keeping the highest looked upon education status as the leader of the world, This is because
education is also an essential element in firming the power of a nation state besides economy, military
and politics (Green 997, p.137). Higher education

Colonialism and Dependence Essay
Colonialism and Dependence
In quot;Imperialism, the Highest State of Capitalism quot;, Lenin warned, in refuting Kautsky, that the
domination of finance capital not only does not lessen the inequalities and contradictions present in
the world economy, but on the contrary accentuates them.
Time has passed and proven him right. The inequalities have become sharper. Historical research has
shown that the distance that separated the standard of living in the wealthy countries from that of the
poor countries toward the middle of the nineteenth century was much smaller than the distance that
separates them today.
The gap has widened. In 1850 the per capita income in the industrialized countries was 50 per cent
higher than in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lenin described the reality of his time, saying that quot;naturally...finance capital finds it most
convenient , and is able to extract the greatest profit from a subordination which involves the loss of
the political independence of the subjected countries and peoples quot;.
In his report to the Twenty second Congress of the CPUSSR in 1961,
Nikita Khruschev reached the conclusion that quot;imperialism has irrevocably lost its control over
most of the peoples of the world. quot;
According to his report, 40.7 percent of the population of the world, without counting the socialist
countries, had won their independence after 1919, and the total number of people living in colonies,
semi colonies, and dominions included, at the beginning of the 1960s, less than 3 percent of the world
s population. quot; The revolutions of national liberation have dealt a demolishing blow to the colonial
Bastille quot;,
Khruschev said. quot;Forty two sovereign states have emerged on the ruins of the colonial empires.
quot;
In this connection, it can well be said that Latin America is a prophetic zone within the Third World.
The political independence of almost all the Latin American countries dates back to the beginning of
the nineteenth century. IT WAS AS A RESULT OF THAT INDEPENDENCE,
HOWEVER, THAT LATIN AMERICA CONSOLIDATED ITS DEPENDENCE. Power passed from
the quot;foreign quot; viceroys to quot;national quot; merchants

Quality Matters Related Issues And Course Design
ENV 1053 and ENV 1073
Quality Matters related issues/course design:
There are no major issues related to Quality Matters; I will touch upon a few of the design issues that
came up during the review.
One of the really good things about these courses is in the incorporation of case studies. Each week or
chapter features a case study that s taken right from the course textbook. I ve advocated in other
courses for the use of case studies and I think this course serves as a starting point to incorporate them
into these other courses. The challenge I think here is that while the case studies are incorporated into
the students final grade, the stakes are so low that students may complete only a few or none of the
case studies. However the overall grade for discussion forums/case studies is only 4% of the final
grade. As such students can complete none of the discussion forums/case studies and still receive a
strong grade in the course. My suggestion would be to limit the number of case studies to four, and
create case studies that combine several of the weeks for units into one, each worth 2 1/2% of the final
grade. Students not completing any of the case studies as a result we ll lose 10% of their final grade.
This is enough to make or break a student s grade, between b and a. My suggestion is similar for the
critical thinking questions that are part of each week s activities. There are a lot of them and they
count for very little in terms of course grade(s).

The Feminist Analysis
For decades, women have been continuously fighting for equality with men and because of their
reluctance to never give up their fight, women have gained many more rights throughout the years.
The feminist ideology is incorporated in Pride and Prejudice through Elizabeth Bennett and her blatant
reluctance to marry a man any reason other than love. Feminism is still incredibly relevant in today s
society and is very important because to this day, men and women are not considered and treated as
equals. The feminist movement is such a great movement because it has so many pros to it. A pro of
the feminist movement is that it raises awareness to the unequal treatment of men and women. If the
feminist movement never started, there would hardly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The feminist movement has positively impacted society by giving women and girls their natural born
rights and it is still needed today so that men and women will eventually be considered and treated as

Inventory Segmentation Of The Amazon Warehousing
Amazon Warehousing
In the process of developing its network to support its services, Amazon.com has built out an
infrastructure that includes 145 warehouses around the world (84 in the United States, 29 in Europe, 4
in Canada, 10 in Japan, 15 in China and seven in India) that together account for more than 40 million
square feet of space. Additionally, Amazon has made significant investments in material handling
systems, including the acquisition of Kiva Systems for $775 million in 2012, which is working now as
an Amazon subsidiary designing robots, developing software and other hardware that has been used in
the distribution facilities of companies such as The Gap, Office Depot, and Staples (Lieb, 2014).
Getting into this enormous Warehousing infrastructure, four main elements can be explained to picture
how things work in an Internet retailer; Inventory Segmentation, Order Profiling / Item Activity,
Distribution Center Inbound and Order Fulfillment.
Inventory Segmentation
Inventory segmentation represents a substantial challenge due to the hardy product selection
requirements for Internet retailers. Determining the products that must be handle in one s own
distribution centers, versus wholesaler distribution centers and producers places has an impact on cost
service structure of Internet retailers (Chiles Dau, 2005).
Amazon.com has built the relationship with its customer based on a particular shopping experience
that is tight to three levels in the supply chain

Reynolds) and: his mother (played by Mary Steenburgen), his father (played by Craig T. Nelson), his
grandmother (played by Betty White), and his ex girlfriend (played by Malin Akerman). In The
Proposal (2009), Andrew (played by Ryan Reynolds) visits his family in Alaska accompanied by his
wife to be, Margaret (played by Sandra Bullock). Soon after their arrival, the viewer can detect the
differences in personal relationships between Andrew and his mother, father, grandmother, and ex
girlfriend. Andrew and his father have the most strained relationship. Andrew s father has never
approved of him moving away from home to follow his dreams of being an editor. When the two of
them start talking about this topic, they both end up frustrated and have to walk away from one
another. Andrew and his mother have a typical mother son loving relationship. There were multiple
scenes where Andrew would fight with his dad, and his mom would attempt to neutralize the situation
by speaking to them both separately. She mentioned to his father that Andrew would not want to ...

Adaptive Delta Causality Control With Prediction
Adaptive Delta Causality Control with Prediction in Networked Real Time Game Using Haptic Media
Haptic relating to the sense of touch, in particular relating to the perception and manipulation of
objects using the senses of touch and proprioception. MU The game is based on a peer to peer (P2P)
model. Each terminal refreshes a screen at 60 Hz and sends media units (MUs), each of which
includes information about the position, velocity, and time stamp, to the other terminal. We have two
types of MUs: One has the position information of the mallet, and the other has that of the puck.
Networked Air Hockey using Haptic media Improve interactivity of the air hockey game through
applying prediction logic to adaptive delta causality control. The value of ∆ is dynamically changed
according to the network delay for MUs of the mallet, and is shared among terminals Then, each
terminal sends a changed value of ∆ to the other terminals. The terminal selects the largest value from
among the changed values as a new value of ∆. The adaptive delta causality control scheme with
prediction outputs each Media Unit by predicting the future position later than the output time of the
received MU by the prediction time Tpredict ( ≥ 0) ms to keep the interactivity high. Measured
through Quality of Experience assessment. Conclusion In this paper, we proposed the adaptive ∆

Nathan Bedford Forrest During The Civil War And...
Nathan Bedford Forrest was a very influential leader during the Civil War and African American
movement. Lincoln came to power during the time around the Civil War and guided the events that
took place during that time as well. However, Lincoln had more influence over the Union because of
his leadership and position as president. Lincoln s position as president gave him more power that
Forrest would never have. Though they both had strong qualities that made them successful during
that era, Lincoln s surpassed them all. Considering each man s background, coming from a humble
family and both without an education, they became very successful and motivational symbols to the
citizens at the time. Individually, they encouraged unity and progression in the growth of the American
society.
Lincoln encouraged unity and equality, as did Forrest, but in his own way. Lincoln was a true advocate
for all races to be equal, though he agreed the white race was the superior race. I am not, nor ever have
been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black
races, that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of
qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this
that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever
forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality ... I will

Factors Influencing The International Expansion Of...
As discussed earlier, research on the internationalisation of Nigerian firm s is still under explored and
scant in the literature. In fact, few studies have research internationalisation phenomenon have studied
it on the perspective of the banking sector (Amungo in Adeleye, White, Boso, 2016, pp. 69 91),
examining the factors influencing the international expansion of Nigerian banks finds that Nigerian
banks internationalisation is influenced by home country regulations and the domestic competitive
pressure, managerial intentionality and risk diversification. Similarly, Boojihawon and Acholonu
(2013) on the study of the internationalisation of African banks shows that the consolidation and
recapitalization program in the banking sector 2004 motives Nigerian banks embark on foreign
expansion. This is an indication that SSA firms deserves a focus in the international business research,
because of the region diversity in terms of resources, political systems, cultural diversity and
economic structures (Initiative for Global Development and Dalberg Global Development, 2011).
As a result this study focus is on the motivation and patterns of Nigerian firm s internationalisation.
The open economic policies adopted in Nigeria in the early 2000,s created an opportunity for the
Nigerian firms to emerge as large domestic firms to embark and become a regional player. This also
strengthened the firms abilities to expand their operations beyond Nigeria, especially in the

Essay On Hobbies
A hobby is something that you enjoy doing in your spare time. It is an interest, a recreation or activity
that you spend time on for pleasure and for relaxation.
When you retire from work you will have time to indulge in your favourite hobby or pastime that will
help to overcome your boredom. You may also want to try out new hobbies and learn new skills.
There are many hobbies and interests surrounding us every day. There are craft hobbies, extreme
hobbies, fun hobbies, world hobbies, great hobbies, action hobbies. Hobbies include the familiar, the
unusual or weird, unique and popular. It is like a hobby lobby in the middle of the world.
You can learn most of the skills from books, DVDs or attend classes that teach them.

You will discover that a hobby is something you enjoy primarily for personal rewards. Therefore, what
is your personality type? Not the person that you show to the public, but the real person within.
For example, you may communicate to others that you enjoy the outdoors, however, when invited to
join your friends on a camping trip; you make other arrangements to be elsewhere.
You enjoy the company of your friends, but your interest has changed. Camping is not your hobby, but
being at home airbrushing a design onto your motorcycle is your preference. This is the reason for
making a personality list in order to make finding a hobby an adventure for yourself.
Have you begun to notice how our business, educational, and lifestyle interests may change slowly or

Kafka The Trial Essay
This thesis specially deals with the question how does deconstruction make a space to let absurdism
come into the prison house of text? In Franz Kafka the Trial (1925) Kafka s language and techniques
has reformulated the relationship between deconstruction and absurdism and changed the manner in
which they are related through his novel The Trial. According to Derrida, literature stands on the edge
of everything, almost beyond everything, including itself. (Derrida s, Act of Literature, ed. by Derek
Attridge (New York: Routledge, 1992), p.47. For deconstructive thinkers such as Jacques Derrida,
Gilles Deleuze, and Emmanuel Levinas, deconstruction can be seen as the act of questioning and
looking at limits and borders, but according to Spivak, who has given a general explanation of
deconstruction, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be understood in the context of Jacques Derrida s concept of deconstruction and the idea of
difference in addition to the principles of absurdism which include double negation, lack of reason,
incongruity and lack of order. It is due to these concepts especially deconstruction , which means to
disassemble the parts of the whole or to lose its construction besides most of the themes adopted by
absurdism are presented through the trial: the absurdity of the world, the contingency of events and the
political oppression that helped in better understanding to Kafka s The Trial where the udecidability of
the text looms predominantly. According to Derrida s own words, the undecidability is not only an
oscillation between contradictory rules which are very well determined and both equally peremptory .
This study will discuss how the language of deconstruction opens the space for absurdism in Kafka s
The Trial. In the opening chapter Joseph K. is arrested and this arrest process took place not at
physical standard but at mental standard. Mr. K.

Erasmus And The Renaissance Humanism
Desiderius Erasmus, believed to be the illegitimate son of a Priest named Gerard, was born around
1466 in the Netherlands. He is also believed to have been born with a different name, and his birthday
is unknown because he was born out of wedlock. Despite this, his father made sure he had a good
education by sending him to a prestigious Latin school when he was 9 years old. However, when
Erasmus s parents died, he was sent to live with guardians who strongly believed that he should
become a Monk. During this time, Erasmus gained a personal relationship with God but was opposed
to the strict rules and teachings of the school. Poverty eventually forced Erasmus into a monastery in
1492, where he was ordained a Catholic priest. He then became the secretary for Henry de Bergen, the
bishop of Chambray, which allowed him to travel across Europe for the next ten years to study Latin
and literature. These studies led to his discovery of Renaissance humanism. In the early 1500s, not
long after his travels, Erasmus was invited to lecture in theology at the University of Cambridge and it
was during this time that Erasmus began to publish literature showing his some of his new ideas and
criticisms of society and the church. These ideas started to become well known after he published one
of his early works, Praise of Folly. His ideas stood out from others of the time and sparked debate all
over Europe. These ideas are strikingly similar to those made famous by Martin Luther, however, as

ocean, and the way we exist in the physical environment. In knowing the similarities and differences
in each metaphor, the manager of the organization will be able to use the organism in the area that it is

Presidential Success And Its Impact On The State Of Nation
Throughout history, presidents have or have not wielded the powers and tools available to them to
further their goals. Examining presidential power and success is to understand presidential leadership.
These top tier individuals elected to the presidency uses the resources and personal characteristics to
lead them to success and greatness, in some cases, some more than others. I have provided a case
study between Presidents Van Buren and Roosevelt to show how the internal and external factors lead
one president to be one of the greatest and most successful presidents in U.S history, while the other is
regarded as one of the more unsuccessful and worst presidents. Presidential success is distinguished
between internal and external factors. We should care about presidential success and greatness because
it significantly impacts the state of nation. I argue that both internal and external factors are most
important in determining presidential success.
External Factors
Building a coalition with Congress is vitally important. Presidents want to leave a legacy with
essential legislation. Public policy legislation is especially important to the president because they
want ground breaking policy. Presidents cannot manage the nation by themselves. It is necessary for
Presidents to partner with Congress, even though it is frequently very difficult. The legislative and
executive branches are responsible for compromises that consist of passing laws, adopting budgets,
treaties,

Why Do We Have The Right To Bear Arms
The Second Amendment states, A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a Free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The Second Amendment was
adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the first ten amendments in the Bill of Rights. Many
arguments have been thrown around saying that the terminology of the Second Amendment is very
outdated and the Second Amendment needs to be rewritten or repealed altogether. The right to bear
arms gives the people the power to resist a tyrannical government.
The Right to Bear Arms has been a fundamental right just as the freedom of speech and the rest of the
amendments since the Bill of Rights have been ratified. Some people think and feel that law abiding
citizens should not be able to own any guns and that we are supposed to allow the government to keep
us safe. Some think that the Second Amendment is the most important amendment because it keeps
the government from being able to impose tyranny. As we look at history, many governments have
unarmed their citizens and terrible things happened. The Second Amendment prevents that from
happening in the United States if gun control advocates got their way of getting all guns banned only
police would have weapons, then we would live in a dictatorship. ... Show more content on

Frida Kahlo
At one point or another, we all have been exposed to unconventional woman in art who has been more
recognizable by her signature unibrow and flower headdresses. This woman is known as Frida Kahlo,
a well known Mexican American surrealist artist who went through many struggles in dealings with a
challenging upbringing in a time of revolution and a lifetime of pain. But with a challenge, there is
also strength. Kahlo possessed many strengths that allowed her to prevail against these factors that
went against her and become an icon in art.
Born on July 6, 1907 in Coyocoán, Mexico, Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón or more
known as Frida Kahlo (Herrera, 1983, pp. 10). She was born to her parents Guilermo and Matilda
Kahlo, being their third daughter (Smith, 1999, pp. 206). But three years after Kahlo s birth, the
Mexican Revolution of 1910 began (Herrera, 1983, pp. 11) due to the corrupt nature of Mexico s
government at the time; more exact was with the former President/Dictator Porfirio Díaz, who was in
power to a time of 34 years (Merrill Miró, 2011). According to Merrill and Miró (2011), Díaz violated
several principles in the Constitution of 1857 and The Mexican Revolution intent was to create a more
democratic Mexico and establishing limits to presidential terms to prevent what occurred with Díaz.

Assess The Impact Of Globalization On The Chinese Economy
Globalization is a process that refers to the increased integration between different countries and
economies as well as the increased impact of international influences on all aspects of life and
economic activity. Over the last 50 years, globalization has had a tremendous impact on the Chinese
economy. The impacts brought forth by globalization can be both positive and negative and effect both
economic performance, economic growth and the development of China s economy. Globalization is
the main factor responsible for China s significant growth that has taken place over the last two
decades. However, globalization itself is not entirely responsible. The Chinese economy has also
implemented strategies which have been very effective in promoting economic growth and
development. These strategies include the implantation of Open door policy , Reformation of China s
agricultural system and joining the World Trade Organisation.
The impact of globalization on the Chinese economy can be seen through the increase in economic
performance. Over the last two decades, the Chinese economy has experienced significant economic
growth due to globalization. Globalization is responsible for reducing the barriers to trade and
increasing the integration between different countries and economies. The reduction of trade barriers
as well as the increased integration between different countries and economies resulted in an increase

is finally showing that he is afraid and worried for his life. Transforming into a bug has taught Gregor
many things. He has learned that his family isn t really there for him too much, he found that he is
different from everyone else psychologically, and now he has learned that he needs to protect himself.
As Gregor runs from his father, he shows fear. He is afraid that he harmed or possibly killed his
mother, he is afraid that he shocked Grete, but overall, he is afraid that his father is going to kill him.
Gregor hasn t really communicated with his father in a loving way, whenever the father is around,
their interaction seems forced or very business like. He was not concerned when Gregor was trapped
in his room, he just did not want Gregor to lose his job. Now, while the father knows that there is a
very high probability of this bug being his son, he still attempts to kill and harm him. The father lifts
his shoes high, most likely to frighten Gregor or to try to crush him beneath the soles. Later, he throws
fruit at him, and an apple even becomes lodged in Gregor s shell, handicapping him for a few days.
This leads me to ask this question; What are the father s feelings towards Gregor? Does he actually
view him as a son or is he only a source of money? Is he disappointed in Gregor? Would he prefer a
harder working, more confident son? The father is actually quite tough on Gregor, the same way Franz
Kafka s father was mentally and physically tough on him as a boy. Kafka s father was disappointed in
his son, but he still pushed him. The large soles of the father s shoes could symbolize how Kafka felt
like his father always metaphorically stepped on him and crushed his self confidence. The way Kafka
describes how large and strong the father looks is definitely symbolic of Kafka s own father,

The United States 1932 Election Essay
The United States 1932 Election Many historians believe that the 1932 election was a popularity
competition, with the prize being the chief of the white house. This is because they thought that
Hoover s inability to revive the depressed economy, and his lack of a personality that reaches out to
the average American, provided Roosevelt (who was very popular) with a path to victory. I shall
discuss this view, with points in favour and points that argue Roosevelt had an appealing policy and
opinions that ensured his triumph which did not rely on Hoover s incompetence and lack of charm.
Beginning with the points in favour, it becomes easy to understand the principle behind the
aforementioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another point, which greatly affected Hoover s chances of winning, was his inconsistency in methods.
At first, he was dependant on voluntarism (charities and businesses helping at their own will) to solve
the problem of the depression. Hoover implemented the POUR organisation to help the unemployed,
but it only used donated money. The charity Red Cross, by 1931 could only provide 75 cents a week
for hungry families. The situation had developed far beyond the ability of private charity to cope
(source 3). His inconsistency is shown when he alters his approach from opposing direct government
aid and laissez fair (to leave alone), to intervention. He personally gave up a fifth of his income. In
January, congress provided $2 billion in funding a new agency, the reconstruction finance corporation
(which makes loans to large economic organisations) and in February, Hoover signed the Glass
Steagell act, which allocated £750 million of gold reserves to businesses. However, what he did was
too little too late. Roosevelt s strength was that he was quick to capitalise on the republicans failures in
their approach of voluntarism and this gave him an advantage, as the American public was willing to
try something new. Roosevelt once said in a speech for his election campaign in 1932: Whatever

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Contraceptives
There are many different contraceptives available to today s youth.
The first and major one would be the Birth control pills. There are two types of these pills, the first
being the Combined Oral Contraceptive Pills which contain two hormones, an oestrogen and progestin
and the second being the Progestin only pills which contains one hormone being progestin. The
Combined Oral Contraceptive pill works by stopping ovulation (release of an egg) and by inhibiting
the movement of sperm. Among common couples who start utilization of combined pills around eight
percent of women encounter an incidental pregnancy within the first year. Whereas if the pills are used
constantly and effectively, only three in 1000 women will become pregnant. Condoms are ... Show

They also reduce PMS symptoms, menstrual blood loss, anaemia and they stop endometriosis. The
disadvantages of the combined pill is that they do not protect against the contraction of HIV/AIDS or
other STIs; a women must remember to take the pill at the same time; every day, some women
experience headaches, depression or decreased enjoyment of intercourse. The Progestin only pills
work by making cervical mucus thicker so that the sperm cannot get to the egg and the also make the
lining of the uterus thinner, sometimes they even stop ovulation. The effectiveness against pregnancy
and the contraction of HIV/AIDS is the same as combined contraceptive pills. Some of the advantages
of choosing progestin only pills are that the amount of progestin in these pills in less than in combined
pills; these pills cause light menstrual flow and less anaemia and they also reduce menstrual cramps,
pain, headaches, mood swings and breast tenderness. The disadvantages of choosing progestin only
pills is that they cause your menstrual cycle to be irregular; like the combined pills, they do not protect
against HIV/AIDS or other STIs and a condom is recommended to be used at the same time.

Persuasive Speech On Animal Testing
As a huge animal lover, I was disgusted to hear about Ebbie s story. Ebbie was a beagle rescued from
an animal testing lab in Spain. When he was rescued by an organization called Beagle Freedom
Project, he was deathly ill, emaciated and had tumors all over his frail body. Before being rescued, he
had spent his entire life in solitary confinement where humans tested many deadly chemicals on him.
When he first moved into his new home after being rescued, he just spent his days lying on the floor
and was unwilling to interact with humans in anyway. It s truly incredible that after months of love
and compassion from people that fostered him, he learned about love and trust towards humans after
being so dramatically traumatized from the abuse he received in a lab. I stand here today to present
you with the issue that needs to be addressed immediately: the abuse of millions of innocent and
defenseless animals through animal experimentation. Millions of animals are in agonizing pain while
being kept in tiny cages of labs while scientists inject dangerous substances in them and perform risky
surgeries on them. Such immorality of scientists is allowed because there are no laws that prohibit this
torture and protect the quality of life of these innocent animals. The root of animal testing started
thousands of years ago when scientists studied animals. During the early twentieth century, more
people became curious about biology and body systems; therefore, studied on animals. As

Book Review Of Woman At Point Zero
Discuss the work of fiction you have read which has helped you most to understand the complexity of
the world. (100 300 words)
In my junior year of high school, I had read the book Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi, an
Egyptian author. The book depicts an Egyptian woman who grew up in a poor home and experiences
difficulties with a obtaining a higher education before she results to other methods to obtain power.
Prior to reading this, I was largely ignorant of the lasting impacts of gender on education in foreign
cultures. I had known the lessons of the American Dream , which states that everyone has equal
opportunity for success. However, based on the novel, my global understanding had grown to realize
that the circumstances are quite different around the world. The book had shown me the links between
gender and education, and that the cultural treatment of women is sometimes brutal. In the United
States, I had seen that men and women have equal opportunity for education, however the cultural
context of Woman at Point Zero displays that traditional gender roles largely impact an individual s
education. The novel showed me that some cultures value men above women and, thus, their
educations are prioritized. The protagonist of the novel is, consequently, left with a limited education
as a result of her gender, while a predominantly male college is referenced in the novel. Overall, the
novel contributed to my global understanding of the treatment of women, and showed

HCAHPS Survey Analysis
When reviewing the HCAHPS survey results it is important to look at the demographic of the
community the organizations service area. The HCAHPS survey is distributed to a random sample of
adult patients discharged from the hospital. The survey has twenty seven questions, categorized by ten
domains. The domains address communication, pain control, cleanliness of the rooms, an overall
hospital rating, and if patients would recommend the hospital. Even though it is well established that
patient centered organizational change has the most influence on HCAHPS scores, there is evidence
that ethnicity and lower socioeconomic standing lowers HCAHPS scores and the patient s perception
of care (Elliott et al., 2015).

Management Theory and Practice
Who has not dreamed of being a manager? Being in management for some people can be a love hate
relationship. Some will say it is an easy job and others will disagree. The author (Nichole) will select
one of the management theories in the textbook then she will explain the elements that are the
foundation of the management theory she selected. Furthermore, she will explain how the theory
identifies the roles and skills of the manager. Then she will describe three management skills
necessary for the effective management of an organization. Lastly, she will outline three management
roles in relation to the management of people and organizational processes.
The theory chosen was classical management theory. Classical management theory according to the
book was originated during England s Industrial Revolution, which began in the late 1700 s with the
invention of reliable steam powered machinery (Plunkett, Allen, Attner, 2013, p. 37). The classical
management theory focused more on the one best way to perform and manage tasks (Plunkett et al,
2013, p. 37). Using the steam powered machinery made it possible for manufacturers to not depend on
water and wind. Using steam powered machinery also made it possible to produce more products. The
more products a factory can make the more people they will be able to sell the product to. This means

Comparing Death And It Was Not Death, For I Stood Up
Write a critical commentary comparing and contrasting the two poems Death and It was not Death, for
I stood up
Indeed. in their respective poems it is evident that the poets George Herbert and Emily Dickinson are
writing in two different centuries. Both differ in terms of style, language and the different way in
which they approach the concept of death. However, despite their differences, both Death and It was
not Death, for I stood up signify the fundamental features of death in the poems which reiterates death
as biological despite some poems viewing death as an abstract being . In Death , Herbert explores an
abstract interpretation of death and compares it to the literal features of death. In the first line death is
referred to as an [U]ncouth hideous thing, (line 1), the word uncouth personifies death as a being as
death is being described as lacking good manners. Death as being mannerless highlights the
conventional image of death as a being that takes lives rather than being a natural thing. This image of
death as a physical being can be argued as a conventional medieval ideology about death. Yet this
fictitious interpretation of death is juxtaposed with the literal image of death as Nothing but bones
(line 2). The biological decay to bones as a result of death contradicts this idea of death as an evil
coarse being taking lives. However despite that abstract death being contradicted by biological
features of death, abstract interpretation of death

Week 4 Individual Assignment Interventions Case Study Essay
Interventions Case Study Matt Gunther BSHS/445 Amanda Williams The case of Sean The case study
chosen is about Sean which comes from chapter 7 in the Crisis Intervention Case Book. Sean is a 19
year old sophomore who is currently on disciplinary probation for getting in a fight during freshman
year and breaking the other students jaw. Sean admits to drinking and also smoking marijuana since
high school and occasionally on campus. Currently Sean was brought to the emergency room by a
friend after passing out on the lawn at a beer party. His friend had seen that Sean vomited all over
himself and would not wake up. His friend then called 911 and an ambulance came. At the emergency
room Sean s stomach was pumped and a blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When speaking to the counselor Sean admits that, he does not remember what happened last night or
how he came to be at the hospital. He remembered being at the Sigma house and playing a drinking
game around 10:00 pm and did not remember much after that. He even mentioned a story about
drinking when he was in high school. Sean was very worried that his parents would find out and that
they would make him come home. He seemed to be very nervous about not knowing whether his
parents were called or not. Sean admitted to smoking marijuana before the party. He also stated that a
friend gave him oxycontin. Sean mentioned that his father was an alcoholic and used to come home all
the time drunk, which caused tension between his father and mother. His father would come home
slurring his speech, coming home buzzed or sometimes not coming home at all. His father attended
AA meeting and he no longer drinks. The counselor asked Sean if it would be okay to set an
appointment for him at the outpatient center at the medical center, which Sean seemed willing to do
anything to stay in school. The counselor also agreed to meet with Sean s parents to discuss the plan
they have made to make it easier for Sean to confront them. There are other intervention strategies that
could have been provided such as a support group that Sean can be involved in with other students
who are in the same situation as Sean or who have been there. When trying to stop

Translation Of Translation And Language Variants
Translation and Language Variants
Yer bum s oot the windae. Gonnae no dae that! If you don t know what this means and you are an
English speaker, what appears to be the problem? The problem is that the Scottish variation or dialect
of English is not the same as the American, the Irish, the British, the Australian, etc. In case you were
wondering, in American English, the phrase says, You re talking rubbish. I m not going to do that!
This is more than just a local dialect (Scotland had a number of those, too: Aberdonian, Glaswegian,
Edinburgh, Fife, Perthshire, Dundonian), this is an example of an entirely different variation of
English.
During your localization process, it is important to understand if you are working with a language that
has a significant linguistic variation within a major language. While most speakers of the local
variation can comprehend the main language, others may not understand them, and they would know
in an instant that the text was not written or addressed for them (one of the main purposes of
localization).
Consider another example. Suppose somebody asked you to pop your bonnet and let them check out
your dickie. In America, you might get punched in the nose for such language. In England, this is
simple car talk you might hear at the mechanic. You are supposed to open up the engine compartment
(pop the bonnet) and open up the rear compartment or trunk (check out your dickie), likely to see if
you have a spare tire or a car jack.

  • 2. The Status Quo of Higher Education in the United Kingdom Literature review 4000 less p.3 The status quo of higher education in the United Kingdom (UK): internationalized, leading but critical. The first part of this literature review aim is to use exhaustive evidence to critically evaluate the position of higher education stands in the UK, and in turn try to expose the ambivalent issues that are caused by globalization from a macro perspective. The second part is based on international students experiential point of view, look into the purposes of studying abroad and demonstrate the nostalgic mentality of being away from home. Internationalization of Higher Education in UK In the 19th century Great Britain was known as the empire on which the sun never sets , especially in the Victorian Era (1837 1909), the higher education system grew rapidly due to the English industry revolution in order to fulfill the demand of talents. The oldest university in UK also in the English speaking world is University of Oxford which established around 1096 (Oxford 2014). Education city (Wildavsky 2010, p.53), city like Oxford and London, cities built surround by the best education institutions, open attitude to different culture and the high level of civilization. For 800 years, UK has been keeping the highest looked upon education status as the leader of the world, This is because education is also an essential element in firming the power of a nation state besides economy, military and politics (Green 997, p.137). • 3. Colonialism and Dependence Essay Colonialism and Dependence In quot;Imperialism, the Highest State of Capitalism quot;, Lenin warned, in refuting Kautsky, that the domination of finance capital not only does not lessen the inequalities and contradictions present in the world economy, but on the contrary accentuates them. Time has passed and proven him right. The inequalities have become sharper. Historical research has shown that the distance that separated the standard of living in the wealthy countries from that of the poor countries toward the middle of the nineteenth century was much smaller than the distance that separates them today. The gap has widened. In 1850 the per capita income in the industrialized countries was 50 per cent higher than in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lenin described the reality of his time, saying that quot;naturally...finance capital finds it most convenient , and is able to extract the greatest profit from a subordination which involves the loss of the political independence of the subjected countries and peoples quot;. In his report to the Twenty second Congress of the CPUSSR in 1961, Nikita Khruschev reached the conclusion that quot;imperialism has irrevocably lost its control over most of the peoples of the world. quot; According to his report, 40.7 percent of the population of the world, without counting the socialist countries, had won their independence after 1919, and the total number of people living in colonies, semi colonies, and dominions included, at the beginning of the 1960s, less than 3 percent of the world s population. quot; The revolutions of national liberation have dealt a demolishing blow to the colonial Bastille quot;, Khruschev said. quot;Forty two sovereign states have emerged on the ruins of the colonial empires. quot; In this connection, it can well be said that Latin America is a prophetic zone within the Third World. The political independence of almost all the Latin American countries dates back to the beginning of the nineteenth century. IT WAS AS A RESULT OF THAT INDEPENDENCE, HOWEVER, THAT LATIN AMERICA CONSOLIDATED ITS DEPENDENCE. Power passed from the quot;foreign quot; viceroys to quot;national quot; merchants ... • 4. Quality Matters Related Issues And Course Design ENV 1053 and ENV 1073 Quality Matters related issues/course design: There are no major issues related to Quality Matters; I will touch upon a few of the design issues that came up during the review. One of the really good things about these courses is in the incorporation of case studies. Each week or chapter features a case study that s taken right from the course textbook. I ve advocated in other courses for the use of case studies and I think this course serves as a starting point to incorporate them into these other courses. The challenge I think here is that while the case studies are incorporated into the students final grade, the stakes are so low that students may complete only a few or none of the case studies. However the overall grade for discussion forums/case studies is only 4% of the final grade. As such students can complete none of the discussion forums/case studies and still receive a strong grade in the course. My suggestion would be to limit the number of case studies to four, and create case studies that combine several of the weeks for units into one, each worth 2 1/2% of the final grade. Students not completing any of the case studies as a result we ll lose 10% of their final grade. This is enough to make or break a student s grade, between b and a. My suggestion is similar for the critical thinking questions that are part of each week s activities. There are a lot of them and they count for very little in terms of course grade(s). There is ... The Feminist Analysis For decades, women have been continuously fighting for equality with men and because of their reluctance to never give up their fight, women have gained many more rights throughout the years. The feminist ideology is incorporated in Pride and Prejudice through Elizabeth Bennett and her blatant reluctance to marry a man any reason other than love. Feminism is still incredibly relevant in today s society and is very important because to this day, men and women are not considered and treated as equals. The feminist movement is such a great movement because it has so many pros to it. A pro of the feminist movement is that it raises awareness to the unequal treatment of men and women. If the feminist movement never started, there would hardly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inventory Segmentation Of The Amazon Warehousing Amazon Warehousing In the process of developing its network to support its services, Amazon.com has built out an infrastructure that includes 145 warehouses around the world (84 in the United States, 29 in Europe, 4 in Canada, 10 in Japan, 15 in China and seven in India) that together account for more than 40 million square feet of space. Additionally, Amazon has made significant investments in material handling systems, including the acquisition of Kiva Systems for $775 million in 2012, which is working now as an Amazon subsidiary designing robots, developing software and other hardware that has been used in the distribution facilities of companies such as The Gap, Office Depot, and Staples (Lieb, 2014). Getting into this enormous Warehousing infrastructure, four main elements can be explained to picture how things work in an Internet retailer; Inventory Segmentation, Order Profiling / Item Activity, Distribution Center Inbound and Order Fulfillment. Inventory Segmentation Inventory segmentation represents a substantial challenge due to the hardy product selection requirements for Internet retailers. Determining the products that must be handle in one s own distribution centers, versus wholesaler distribution centers and producers places has an impact on cost service structure of Internet retailers (Chiles Dau, 2005). Adaptive Delta Causality Control With Prediction Adaptive Delta Causality Control with Prediction in Networked Real Time Game Using Haptic Media Haptic relating to the sense of touch, in particular relating to the perception and manipulation of objects using the senses of touch and proprioception. MU The game is based on a peer to peer (P2P) model. Each terminal refreshes a screen at 60 Hz and sends media units (MUs), each of which includes information about the position, velocity, and time stamp, to the other terminal. We have two types of MUs: One has the position information of the mallet, and the other has that of the puck. Networked Air Hockey using Haptic media Improve interactivity of the air hockey game through applying prediction logic to adaptive delta causality control. The value of ∆ is dynamically changed according to the network delay for MUs of the mallet, and is shared among terminals Then, each terminal sends a changed value of ∆ to the other terminals. The terminal selects the largest value from among the changed values as a new value of ∆. The adaptive delta causality control scheme with prediction outputs each Media Unit by predicting the future position later than the output time of the received MU by the prediction time Tpredict ( ≥ 0) ms to keep the interactivity high. Measured through Quality of Experience assessment. Conclusion In this paper, we proposed the adaptive ∆ causality control scheme with prediction and investigated the effect of the proposed scheme by QoE assessment in a ... • 9. Nathan Bedford Forrest During The Civil War And... Nathan Bedford Forrest was a very influential leader during the Civil War and African American movement. Lincoln came to power during the time around the Civil War and guided the events that took place during that time as well. However, Lincoln had more influence over the Union because of his leadership and position as president. Lincoln s position as president gave him more power that Forrest would never have. Though they both had strong qualities that made them successful during that era, Lincoln s surpassed them all. Considering each man s background, coming from a humble family and both without an education, they became very successful and motivational symbols to the citizens at the time. Individually, they encouraged unity and progression in the growth of the American society. Lincoln encouraged unity and equality, as did Forrest, but in his own way. Lincoln was a true advocate for all races to be equal, though he agreed the white race was the superior race. I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races, that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality ... In fact, few studies have research internationalisation phenomenon have studied it on the perspective of the banking sector (Amungo in Adeleye, White, Boso, 2016, pp. 69 91), examining the factors influencing the international expansion of Nigerian banks finds that Nigerian banks internationalisation is influenced by home country regulations and the domestic competitive pressure, managerial intentionality and risk diversification. Similarly, Boojihawon and Acholonu (2013) on the study of the internationalisation of African banks shows that the consolidation and recapitalization program in the banking sector 2004 motives Nigerian banks embark on foreign expansion. This is an indication that SSA firms deserves a focus in the international business research, because of the region diversity in terms of resources, political systems, cultural diversity and economic structures (Initiative for Global Development and Dalberg Global Development, 2011). As a result this study focus is on the motivation and patterns of Nigerian firm s internationalisation. In Franz Kafka the Trial (1925) Kafka s language and techniques has reformulated the relationship between deconstruction and absurdism and changed the manner in which they are related through his novel The Trial. According to Derrida, literature stands on the edge of everything, almost beyond everything, including itself. (Derrida s, Act of Literature, ed. by Derek Attridge (New York: Routledge, 1992), p.47. • 13. Erasmus And The Renaissance Humanism Desiderius Erasmus, believed to be the illegitimate son of a Priest named Gerard, was born around 1466 in the Netherlands. He is also believed to have been born with a different name, and his birthday is unknown because he was born out of wedlock. Despite this, his father made sure he had a good education by sending him to a prestigious Latin school when he was 9 years old. However, when Erasmus s parents died, he was sent to live with guardians who strongly believed that he should become a Monk. During this time, Erasmus gained a personal relationship with God but was opposed to the strict rules and teachings of the school. Poverty eventually forced Erasmus into a monastery in 1492, where he was ordained a Catholic priest. He then became the secretary for Henry de Bergen, the bishop of Chambray, which allowed him to travel across Europe for the next ten years to study Latin and literature. These studies led to his discovery of Renaissance humanism. In the early 1500s, not long after his travels, Erasmus was invited to lecture in theology at the University of Cambridge and it was during this time that Erasmus began to publish literature showing his some of his new ideas and criticisms of society and the church. These ideas started to become well known after he published one of his early works, Praise of Folly. His ideas stood out from others of the time and sparked debate all over Europe. These ideas are strikingly similar to those made famous by Martin Luther, however, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Presidential Success And Its Impact On The State Of Nation Throughout history, presidents have or have not wielded the powers and tools available to them to further their goals. Examining presidential power and success is to understand presidential leadership. These top tier individuals elected to the presidency uses the resources and personal characteristics to lead them to success and greatness, in some cases, some more than others. I have provided a case study between Presidents Van Buren and Roosevelt to show how the internal and external factors lead one president to be one of the greatest and most successful presidents in U.S history, while the other is regarded as one of the more unsuccessful and worst presidents. Presidential success is distinguished between internal and external factors. We should care about presidential success and greatness because it significantly impacts the state of nation. I argue that both internal and external factors are most important in determining presidential success. External Factors Building a coalition with Congress is vitally important. Presidents want to leave a legacy with essential legislation. Public policy legislation is especially important to the president because they want ground breaking policy. Presidents cannot manage the nation by themselves. It is necessary for Presidents to partner with Congress, even though it is frequently very difficult. • 17. Why Do We Have The Right To Bear Arms The Second Amendment states, A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The Second Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the first ten amendments in the Bill of Rights. Many arguments have been thrown around saying that the terminology of the Second Amendment is very outdated and the Second Amendment needs to be rewritten or repealed altogether. The right to bear arms gives the people the power to resist a tyrannical government. The Right to Bear Arms has been a fundamental right just as the freedom of speech and the rest of the amendments since the Bill of Rights have been ratified. Some people think and feel that law abiding citizens should not be able to own any guns and that we are supposed to allow the government to keep us safe. Some think that the Second Amendment is the most important amendment because it keeps the government from being able to impose tyranny. As we look at history, many governments have unarmed their citizens and terrible things happened. The Second Amendment prevents that from happening in the United States if gun control advocates got their way of getting all guns banned only police would have weapons, then we would live in a dictatorship. ... In the end, 13 million Jews and other perceived lesser races were killed by Hitler and the Nazi Party (Heyes 2013). These examples are exactly why our founding fathers wrote the 2nd ... • 18. Frida Kahlo At one point or another, we all have been exposed to unconventional woman in art who has been more recognizable by her signature unibrow and flower headdresses. This woman is known as Frida Kahlo, a well known Mexican American surrealist artist who went through many struggles in dealings with a challenging upbringing in a time of revolution and a lifetime of pain. But with a challenge, there is also strength. Kahlo possessed many strengths that allowed her to prevail against these factors that went against her and become an icon in art. Born on July 6, 1907 in Coyocoán, Mexico, Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón or more known as Frida Kahlo (Herrera, 1983, pp. 10). She was born to her parents Guilermo and Matilda Kahlo, being their third daughter (Smith, 1999, pp. 206). But three years after Kahlo s birth, the Mexican Revolution of 1910 began (Herrera, 1983, pp. 11) due to the corrupt nature of Mexico s government at the time; more exact was with the former President/Dictator Porfirio Díaz, who was in power to a time of 34 years (Merrill Miró, 2011). According to Merrill and Miró (2011), Díaz violated several principles in the Constitution of 1857 and The Mexican Revolution intent was to create a more democratic Mexico and establishing limits to presidential terms to prevent what occurred with Díaz. On May 25th, 1911, President Díaz had resigned and left to France after months of revolution again Díaz and turned power over to the provisional government (Merrill ... The steps and process taught in Intro to Coaching Theories and Application at Queens University provided me a logical path for taking a client through a productive coaching conversation. Truthfully, while the process is straight forward and simple, the execution was not as easy as it looked. But I trusted the process and with a help of a gracious volunteer coaching client, I m growing into a better coach. Finding a coachable client made the following the process easier and perhaps a better experience for the client. My client, Geneva, is a Project Manager in the Human Relations Department at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. She s a co worker of my daughter, Kathleen, who suggested that Geneva would be a good volunteer coachee for this project. Kathleen made a brief introduction and then I followed up with an email to Geneva explaining the project and asking about her interest in participation. She eagerly accepted my invitation and we set up our first coaching session. The first meeting laid some important ground work for our future interactions. In advance of that first session, I sent Geneva some thought starter questions. These questions were designed to help me get to know Geneva a little better and customize my coaching style in ways that would benefit her. What had been her experience with coaching? What were her strengths? How did she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Dehumanization In Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis This is, for sure, a symbol of Gregor s dehumanization. Although he still thinks that he has the mindset of a human despite his transformation into a vermin, he is losing his human like interests. In the passage before this one, Gregor was complaining about how hungry he was because he hadn t eaten since before he had transformed, but when he is presented which something to consume, he refuses it. Not only does he refuse it, but he is disgusted by it. Kafka even goes as far as to say that Gregor loathed the milk. Milk was once Gregor s favorite beverage, but he no longer wants it, perhaps because he transformed into a giant vermin. The passage goes on to explain how Gregor is completely revolted by the fresh fruit and how he prefers to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the whole story so far, Gregor has felt nothing but fear or concern for his family. Now, he is finally showing that he is afraid and worried for his life. Transforming into a bug has taught Gregor many things. He has learned that his family isn t really there for him too much, he found that he is different from everyone else psychologically, and now he has learned that he needs to protect himself. As Gregor runs from his father, he shows fear. He is afraid that he harmed or possibly killed his mother, he is afraid that he shocked Grete, but overall, he is afraid that his father is going to kill him. Gregor hasn t really communicated with his father in a loving way, whenever the father is around, their interaction seems forced or very business like. He was not concerned when Gregor was trapped in his room, he just did not want Gregor to lose his job. Now, while the father knows that there is a very high probability of this bug being his son, he still attempts to kill and harm him. The father lifts his shoes high, most likely to frighten Gregor or to try to crush him beneath the soles. Later, he throws fruit at him, and an apple even becomes lodged in Gregor s shell, handicapping him for a few days. This leads me to ask this question; What are the father s feelings towards Gregor? Does he actually view him as a son or is he only a source of money? Is he disappointed in Gregor? Would he prefer a harder working, more confident son? The father is actually quite tough on Gregor, the same way Franz Kafka s father was mentally and physically tough on him as a boy. Kafka s father was disappointed in his son, but he still pushed him. The large soles of the father s shoes could symbolize how Kafka felt like his father always metaphorically stepped on him and crushed his self confidence. The way Kafka describes how large and strong the father looks is definitely symbolic of Kafka s own father, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The United States 1932 Election Essay The United States 1932 Election Many historians believe that the 1932 election was a popularity competition, with the prize being the chief of the white house. This is because they thought that Hoover s inability to revive the depressed economy, and his lack of a personality that reaches out to the average American, provided Roosevelt (who was very popular) with a path to victory. I shall discuss this view, with points in favour and points that argue Roosevelt had an appealing policy and opinions that ensured his triumph which did not rely on Hoover s incompetence and lack of charm. Beginning with the points in favour, it becomes easy to understand the principle behind the aforementioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another point, which greatly affected Hoover s chances of winning, was his inconsistency in methods. At first, he was dependant on voluntarism (charities and businesses helping at their own will) to solve the problem of the depression. Hoover implemented the POUR organisation to help the unemployed, but it only used donated money. The charity Red Cross, by 1931 could only provide 75 cents a week for hungry families. The situation had developed far beyond the ability of private charity to cope (source 3). His inconsistency is shown when he alters his approach from opposing direct government aid and laissez fair (to leave alone), to intervention. He personally gave up a fifth of his income. In January, congress provided $2 billion in funding a new agency, the reconstruction finance corporation (which makes loans to large economic organisations) and in February, Hoover signed the Glass Steagell act, which allocated £750 million of gold reserves to businesses. However, what he did was too little too late. Roosevelt s strength was that he was quick to capitalise on the republicans failures in their approach of voluntarism and this gave him an advantage, as the American public was willing to try something new. Roosevelt once said in a speech for his election campaign in 1932: Whatever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Combined Oral Contraceptive pill works by stopping ovulation (release of an egg) and by inhibiting the movement of sperm. • 26. Persuasive Speech On Animal Testing As a huge animal lover, I was disgusted to hear about Ebbie s story. Ebbie was a beagle rescued from an animal testing lab in Spain. When he was rescued by an organization called Beagle Freedom Project, he was deathly ill, emaciated and had tumors all over his frail body. Before being rescued, he had spent his entire life in solitary confinement where humans tested many deadly chemicals on him. When he first moved into his new home after being rescued, he just spent his days lying on the floor and was unwilling to interact with humans in anyway. It s truly incredible that after months of love and compassion from people that fostered him, he learned about love and trust towards humans after being so dramatically traumatized from the abuse he received in a lab. I stand here today to present you with the issue that needs to be addressed immediately: the abuse of millions of innocent and defenseless animals through animal experimentation. Millions of animals are in agonizing pain while being kept in tiny cages of labs while scientists inject dangerous substances in them and perform risky surgeries on them. Such immorality of scientists is allowed because there are no laws that prohibit this torture and protect the quality of life of these innocent animals. The root of animal testing started thousands of years ago when scientists studied animals. • 27. Book Review Of Woman At Point Zero Discuss the work of fiction you have read which has helped you most to understand the complexity of the world. (100 300 words) In my junior year of high school, I had read the book Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi, an Egyptian author. The book depicts an Egyptian woman who grew up in a poor home and experiences difficulties with a obtaining a higher education before she results to other methods to obtain power. Prior to reading this, I was largely ignorant of the lasting impacts of gender on education in foreign cultures. I had known the lessons of the American Dream , which states that everyone has equal opportunity for success. However, based on the novel, my global understanding had grown to realize that the circumstances are quite different around the world. The book had shown me the links between gender and education, and that the cultural treatment of women is sometimes brutal. In the United States, I had seen that men and women have equal opportunity for education, however the cultural context of Woman at Point Zero displays that traditional gender roles largely impact an individual s education. The novel showed me that some cultures value men above women and, thus, their educations are prioritized. The protagonist of the novel is, consequently, left with a limited education as a result of her gender, while a predominantly male college is referenced in the novel. Overall, the novel contributed to my global understanding of the treatment of women, and showed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being in management for some people can be a love hate relationship. Some will say it is an easy job and others will disagree. The author (Nichole) will select one of the management theories in the textbook then she will explain the elements that are the foundation of the management theory she selected. Furthermore, she will explain how the theory identifies the roles and skills of the manager. Then she will describe three management skills necessary for the effective management of an organization. Lastly, she will outline three management roles in relation to the management of people and organizational processes. The theory chosen was classical management theory. Classical management theory according to the book was originated during England s Industrial Revolution, which began in the late 1700 s with the invention of reliable steam powered machinery (Plunkett, Allen, Attner, 2013, p. 37). The classical management theory focused more on the one best way to perform and manage tasks (Plunkett et al, 2013, p. 37). • 30. Comparing Death And It Was Not Death, For I Stood Up Write a critical commentary comparing and contrasting the two poems Death and It was not Death, for I stood up Indeed. in their respective poems it is evident that the poets George Herbert and Emily Dickinson are writing in two different centuries. Both differ in terms of style, language and the different way in which they approach the concept of death. However, despite their differences, both Death and It was not Death, for I stood up signify the fundamental features of death in the poems which reiterates death as biological despite some poems viewing death as an abstract being . In Death , Herbert explores an abstract interpretation of death and compares it to the literal features of death. In the first line death is referred to as an [U]ncouth hideous thing, (line 1), the word uncouth personifies death as a being as death is being described as lacking good manners. Death as being mannerless highlights the conventional image of death as a being that takes lives rather than being a natural thing. This image of death as a physical being can be argued as a conventional medieval ideology about death. Yet this fictitious interpretation of death is juxtaposed with the literal image of death as Nothing but bones (line 2). The biological decay to bones as a result of death contradicts this idea of death as an evil coarse being taking lives. However despite that abstract death being contradicted by biological features of death, abstract interpretation of death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you don t know what this means and you are an English speaker, what appears to be the problem? The problem is that the Scottish variation or dialect of English is not the same as the American, the Irish, the British, the Australian, etc. In case you were wondering, in American English, the phrase says, You re talking rubbish. I m not going to do that! This is more than just a local dialect (Scotland had a number of those, too: Aberdonian, Glaswegian, Edinburgh, Fife, Perthshire, Dundonian), this is an example of an entirely different variation of English. During your localization process, it is important to understand if you are working with a language that has a significant linguistic variation within a major language. While most speakers of the local variation can comprehend the main language, others may not understand them, and they would know in an instant that the text was not written or addressed for them (one of the main purposes of localization). Consider another example. Suppose somebody asked you to pop your bonnet and let them check out your dickie. In America, you might get punched in the nose for such language. In England, this is simple car talk you might hear at the mechanic. You are supposed to open up the engine compartment (pop the bonnet) and open up the rear compartment or trunk (check out your dickie), likely to see if you have a spare tire or a car jack. The ...
