I do not own the Time Crisis series or Infinite Stratos. Those belong to their respective owners.
The only thing I own is this Fanfiction. Summary: 6 days after Phantom Task invaded the IS

once an agent of the Vital Situation Swift Elimination (V.S.S.E) Agency and wants to find out the
answers to his past. Now he s working with the V.S.S.E s best agents to find out the truth and get

Ronald Reagan s Foreign Policy
Ronald Reagan was an actor and cowboy that must of the world didn t take serious at first! But
once he took the oath of office; he would get the world s attention. He enters into office with the
United States in an economic and military mess. He would fix the economic mess by cutting
taxes and jump starting the economy. The military would be fixed by his Doctrine. The Reagan
Doctrine was an aggressive foreign policy from 1981 87 in his first term as President he
designed a plan to roll back Communism at its weakest points, and weaken the U.S.S.R by
targeting the overthrow of its marginal allies in the non industrialized World. Many pundits argue
that it was a smashing success and dramatically undermined the power of the U.S.S.R, forcing it
to retreat, and collapse by 1989. Reagan s foreign policy could be stated by his view of the
U.S.S.R as the Evil Empire that is an illegitimate state. He rejected the dГ©tente policy that Richard
Nixon, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter had pursued until 1979, when the U.S.S.R invaded
Afghanistan proved its failure. Reagan long had opposed the containment strategy. Reagan instead
proposed Rollback, a strategy to steadily reduce and eventually eliminate the Communist threat. In
1981 the newly elected Reagan rejected Henry Kissinger and other advocates of dГ©tente and
brought in hard liners, many of them previously associated with Democratic Senator Henry
Jackson. The Reagan Doctrine in fact operated as early as 1981, without a name, but

Italian Cinema Paper
Blow Up, his second colored film, investigates how man deals with the flux even though he is
separated from it. The viewer is first introduced to downtown London. A grayish black jeep,
teeming with shouting young adults, crawls over a cobble stone hill into a gray blue sky and
turns the corner. The jeep reappears in a wide street, young adults, painted as mimes, pour from
the vehicle and flood the road. A small group passes by the protagonist Thomas, who hands one
begging girl a crumpled bill from the back seat of his car. The cameraattaches to Thomas, and the
viewer stares down at him as he drives through a tunnel. Unlike L Eclisse, Thomas is immediately
depicted as a moving factor in the flux of reality. The viewer knows his landscape before they
know him, and Antonioni tells the viewer they will not know Thomas when the viewer does not
see the jeep turn a corner. The viewer is driving blindly into Thomas s story and will have to make
conclusions based on separate pieces of information. They are further separated from Thomas
because Antonioni gives us permission to figuratively judge him by literally looking down at him.
Thomas s ground position suggests Thomas is a man who functions in human utility and even the
viewer, who Antonioni does not know, is closer to reality than his character. Antonioni gives
grounds for these assumptions when the viewer watches Thomas, a photographer by profession,
shoot two photo shoots. Thomas hovers and yells at his model,

Voltaire’s Candide
The Human Tissue Act 65 of 1983 regulates all aspects regarding organ transplants. This
Act was last amended in 1989. Since then medical science has developed so big in size and to such
an extent that organ transplants today are almost routine operations in many hospitals.
Unfortunately the current methods of procuring human organs are not supplying the demand. A
new approach, the commercialization of human organs for transplantation is a possibility with the
potential to supply one hundred per cent of the demand for organs. There are however many
arguments against the commercialization of human organs. Ethical aspects concerning
commercialization of human organs also need to be investigated, in order to reach a conclusion ...

Such cases may be motivated by the desire to discharge a religious duty, to correct a wrong done
in the past, to gain mental or moral satisfaction, or to be seen as a good
Samaritan.
Once the practice of organ donation by the genetically related and also by strangers, based on
altruism, has been accepted as ethically sound the following components of organ removal
stand morally vindicated. Here are 2 of which they are talking about: (a) A person s expectation
to enjoy life with the help of organs belonging to others is valid, and(b) the breach of a donor s
bodily integrity and the consequent harms are permissible. Judged on these values a person s
act of severing his/her organ in order to liberate a fellow being from a terminal illness or to save
his/her life cannot be dubbed as immoral simply because the act is accompanied by a reasonable
material consideration. When a person sells an organ he or she acts both selfishly, in advantaging
him or herself, and altruistically, in contributing to a public good. The presence of considerations
is not a sufficient reason to transform a simple act into a sin. Otherwise, selling water to the thirsty
would be an equally big sin in fact rather a bigger one (Marino 2002).
Policies on organ transplantation reflect a unique social paternalism. Objections against the sale of
organs such as the dilution of altruism in society, the risk that

Classroom Management In The Classroom
Classroom management is one of the most essential elements of teaching. Classroom management
refers to the wide variety of skills and techniques that teachers use to keep students organized,
orderly, focused, attentive, on task, and academically productive during a class . Therefore, without
good classroom management the classroom will not be an environment of learning, rather it will be
an environment of chaos. My personal philosophy of educationpulls elements from three different
models assertive discipline, CHAMPS, and capturing kids hearts. The main goal of the assertive
discipline model is to put the teacher in charge of the classroom. However, teachers are also
expected to treat students as their allies in the learning experience. Although there are elements of
assertive discipline that I do not agree with, my idea of discipline in the classroom aligns best with
this model. When using assertive discipline, the teacher decides on the class rules before school
begins. The teacher also has a system of both positive and negative consequences in place.
Additionally, consequences occur in a hierarchy system, known as the discipline hierarchy. The
discipline hierarchy is a system of between 3 6 different consequences that become harsher as a
student continues to misbehave. For a first offense, the student is simply given a warning. If the
student continues to misbehave than the second and third time they are taken out of an activity.
The fourth time the parents are

Three Main Ideas From The Communist Manifesto
Foundations of Sociology essay (Soc 10010)
Describe the three main ideas from the Communist Manifesto.
In this essay I will discuss three of the main ideas from Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto . I
have chosen to look at class struggles, the abolishment of private property and the idea that states
look after the dominant classes in societies. I chose these as I found them to be the three main
ideas that stood out to me most after reading the book. I have delved into each one and shown why
I think they are the three main ideas. I found them to be very interesting ideas which Marx has
communicated very well.
Class struggles are a key idea in Marx s Communist Manifesto . Marx opens his Manifesto with the
line The history of all hitherto existing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are never really major reforms to help all, after revolutions. The bourgeoisie, in France, had
been oppressed and after overthrowing the very distinct upper class they now held the power.
During the revolution they campaigned for liberty, equality and fraternity. This did not materialise
afterwards as stated by Marx:
The modern bourgeois society that has sprouted from the ruins of feudal society has not done
away with class antagonisms. It has but established new classes, new conditions of oppression,
new forms of struggle in place of the old ones. Marx (1848, p.74)
Marx proves that even when societies have fought for something like freedom, it does not always
last. The bourgeois brought in capitalism, which brought freedom, but it brought freedom to the
bourgeois and left the other classes behind with very little or nothing. This shows that economics
have a massive hold on where the power in societies

My Antonia Racial Prejudice
Immigrants constantly face racial prejudices unknown to the privileged. These immigrants are only
trying to have a life for themselves and/or for their children. My Antonia by Willa Cather entails the
trials and tribulations of those who seek success told through the perspective of Jim Burden. The
novel consists of people out of the country wanting a better life for themselves; That s what they
want most of all. The immigrants that Jim comes to know go through hardships that they overcome
to finally become successful in the end. First and foremost, Jim meets the Shimerda familywho
constantly face hardships through their tough journey to what they view as success. They are
immigrants from Bohemia trying to find a life for themselves.... Show more content on

Antonia knows the struggle firsthand since she has faced the harsh conditions of starting off in
a new country since she is a Shimerda. Antonia tells Jim, If I live here, like you, that is different.
Things will be easy for you. But they will be hard for us (Cather 90). Antonia knows the racial
difference between her and Jim. She has to work harder than the native speakers to be able to
achieve what might come easily to them. Later on in the novel, Antonia goes off with a guy
named Larry Donovan he informs her that his job has moved. This ended up being a lie. He
leaves her whilst she s pregnant, so she becomes a single mom. Jim expresses his thoughts, I was
bitterly disappointed in her [ГЃntonia]. I could not forgive her for becoming an object of pity
(Cather 192). Jim expresses his dismay that Antonia has basically ruined her life by putting faith
into a man of words. Antonia s reputation fell drastically after this and it appears as though it
would be hard to pick up. However, when Jim returns, he ends up being wrong. In the literary
criticism, Anthony M. Dykema VanderArk states, She appears at the end of My Antonia as a figure
who has triВumphed over the hardships of her life through stalВwart struggle...ensuring an easier
future for her children (Dykema VanderArk 211). Antonia has gone through a lot throughout her
life. Her father s death to ruining her reputation by being oblivious. Her race caused her to be

Betrayal In Othello And Jane Austen s Persuasion
Thesis: Betrayal is a common factor in many pieces of literature including Shakespeare s
Othello, William Blake s A Poison Tree, and Jane Austen s Persuasion. Questions: What
spawned the first acts of betrayal? The first acts of betrayal in Othello and A Poison Tree occur
before the story starts. Iago in Othello s eyes was a dear friend and honest man that would never
betray him, however as the story progresses the reader finds out that Iago is holding a grudge
against Othello for passing him up for a position he was more than qualified to hold. This occurs
frequently today where a highly qualified person may be passed up for a position that was given to
a man with connections. In A Poison Tree the speaker is upset with someone dear to him about
something that happens before the story begins. Similar to modern times a person in a relationship
may loose trust in their significant other due to a miscommunication where the victim may not
know what happened exactly but still may feel betrayed. Each incident starts a chain reaction that
helps the plot move forward.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only thing the reader is able to collect is that the speaker is upset with someone before hand
and is trying to deal with his inner termoil. Where as Iago felt betrayed from the very beginning
putting him in the mindset of a villian scorned. Othello s betrayal sets the stories antagonists
into motion giving him the motivation to plot against everyone else. In A Poison Tree the same
thing takes place, the narrorator is put into the thoughts of his enemies demise. Unlike Othello
the speaker in A Poison Tree tries to keep himself from going down the dark path whereas Iago
embraces his darker side. Nowadays a majority of people would try to be more like the speaker in A
Poison Tree and try to be more forgiving, however there are some who take Iago s path and seek

Essay on Voting should be an obligation not a choice
Voting should be an obligation not an option
Living in America gives each person individual freedom. The freedom is yours to express your
own opinion and to vote. Whether or not we choose to exercise these rights is the decision that
every American citizen makes. Participating in our government is the single most important power
that we as Americans have. Whether it is to elect officials or to amend a law, votingis not only a
necessity, but a responsibility. It is frightening how many of us today have closed ourselves off
from the so vital process of learning about candidates for office and making our voting selections
based on actual information (as opposed to sound bites and attack ads) and/or not voting at all.

Currently, there are 17 states allowing certain elections to be held by mail. As of today, there are 27
states that offer no excuse absentee voting, allowing any registered voter to request an absentee
ballot without requiring that the voter state a reason for his/her desire to vote absentee. (Wendy
Underhill)
If you are not going to participate in electing the officials, then you should not have the opportunity
or privilege in criticizing how they do their job. Some people argue that non voters do not vote
because they are happy with the government. This does not seem to be the case. The 1996 National
Election Study showed that nonvoters were less positive than voters.
There are a variety of characteristics between nonvoters and voters. Citizens with a college
degree are more likely to vote than people without a college degree. Older people are also more
likely than younger people to vote. Polls show that young people are more dissatisfied with the
government than older citizens are. Then why don t younger people vote? Some do not vote
because they do not know who to vote for. A quarter of nonvoter s will lie on polls saying that
they did vote. If you are going to be ashamed by not voting and afraid to tell someone why, then
you should vote. It is very simple. Democracy is starting to be weakened by low turnout at the
polls. Steps need to be taken to help

Should Music Programs Be Mandatory Essay
I believe that music programs should be mandatory in high school. I say this for a number of
reasons, not all of them relating to music. Music programs can do so much more for a student than
allow them to learn to read music or play an instrument; music programs teach the student life
skills. Again, musicprograms should be mandatory in high school. To begin with, music programs
are not normal classes. What other class requires the complete integration of every student? What
other class encourages healthy competition? What other class has a teacher who is required to
have such patience? Music programs allow students to learn skills not taught in other classes.
They allow straight A students who have problems connecting with other people to amend that.
They allow failing students to learn the merits of trying harder. Any student who is in a music
program has to think about who takes the hit for an error or lack of motivation on their part. This
kind of thinking applies to the real world more than a good or bad grade does, as not being the
best student or person you can be puts weight on others as well as hindering your success.
Secondly, music stimulates parts of the brain and body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, students who d rather not do music usually face other problems and don t want the added
stress. This stress can be remedied by learning how to apply structure to time, and this can be taught
by music programs. Second, one might argue that music programs don t have any impact on other
aspects of a student s education. As I ve shown, studies conducted on the subject indicate that music
programs universally raise academic ability. Lastly, one might argue that music is a drain on
school funding that would be better spent on other programs. So, I ask, what programs boast the
educational benefits of a music program? When you have that program, you have a valid

The topic of my paper is to research how effective the Fifth Army Mobile Radio Station was at

How To Build A Golf Cart
If you own a golf cart, or are thinking about purchasing one, you want to get the most out of your
investment. Adding some useful accessories is a super way to accomplish that objective. Here are
four handy items you can add to your golf cart to increase its usefulness.
Covers and Enclosures
No matter how often you use your golf cart, you want to keep it good condition. An excellent way
to ensure your cart stays looking like new is to add either a functional enclosure, or a custom
cover. The enclosure does more than just preserve your cart s condition. Enclosures allow you to
use your cart in all weather conditions, plus they protect the inside of your golf cart.
Covers will completely protect your golf cart when you re not using it. Just because you add an
enclosure, that doesn t mean a cover is also not a good accessory to have. A golf cart cover is a
protective blanket over your entire cart. It keeps dirt, grime and weather off your investment.

There are both mini heaters and fans specially designed to fit in the cup holders on your golf cart.
A source of heat will open up your golf cart for use in cold weather, and a fan will be essential if

keep you bottom warm when the temperatures drop.
Lights, Signals and a Horn
These accessories are group together, because they will be critical if you want to use your golf
cart for more than just transportation around the links. Each of these items is essential to drive
your cart in any situation where there are other vehicles or pedestrians. Beyond just being legal
requirements, they help to keep the driver, riders and others

Imagery In The Help
Don t you ever wish you could change things? (10). In Jackson, Mississippi during the 1960 s,
woman ahead of her time, Miss Skeeter, proposes an idea to write a book about the lives of
colored maids in Jackson. Aibileen and Minny, two maids, are among the first ones to agree to help
Skeeter, despite the potential danger to themselves. In The Help, Kathryn Stockettcreates an
engaging and immersive world that explores racism and social injustice by using well developed
writing, the ideal amount of imagery, and strong characters.
Often times authors, especially new authors, make the mistake of crafting paragraphs that don t

In writing, an author should be mindful of what they are trying to accomplish with what they
are describing. Stockett is able to accomplish this when she uses imagery thoughtfully. In the
lounge, the air seems to still. Husbands drinking their whiskeys stop in mid sip, spotting this
pink thing at the door. It takes a second for the image to register. They stare, but don t see, not

their wives, also starring, digging into their arms, their foreheads wrinkle. Their eyes hint

(why didn t I go to California that summer?), first loves are recalled (Roxanne . . .). All of this
happens in a span of about five seconds and then it is over and they are left just staring (321).

Insider Trading And Trading Of A Public Company
Before we can delve into the topic of Insider Trading it is important to understand what insider
trading and what are its implications. Let us begin with the definitions of insider trading:
Insider trading is the trading of a public company s stock or other securities (such as bonds or stock
options) by individuals with access to non public information about the company. In various
countries, insider trading based on inside information is illegal. This is because it is seen as unfair
to other investors who do not have access to the information. Wikipedia, 2014
Insider trading is defined as a malpractice wherein trade of a company s securities is undertaken by
people who by virtue of their work have access to the otherwise non public information which can
be crucial for making investment decisions.
ET, 2014
We must note here that insider trading has two aspects: legal insider trading and illegal insider
trading :
Insider trading can be illegal or legal depending on when the insider makes the trade: it is illegal
when the material information is still non public trading while having special knowledge is unfair

Liebeck Vs Caveat Emptor Essay
Liebeck vs. Caveat Emptor A.Villasmil University of the People PHIL1404 AY2018 T4
Professor: Cecil Blount Liebeck vs. Caveat Emptor In 1992 there was a case between a patron,
Stella Liebeck, and McDonald s Corporation (Brusseau, 2012). The case involved a hot cup of
coffee that Stella opened, by gripping the cup in between her legs, and resulted in the hot coffee
spilling and severely burning her. Fast forward to the end of the case, and we see McDonald s
Corporation held liable for the damages and forced to pay Stella Liebeck. During that time, the
media had many opinions on who was right or wrong in the case. Many echoed an opinion that the
hot coffee should have been an obvious indicator that the contents could cause harm. After all, when
one is young they learn the difference between hot and cold and the dangers that come with each. It
seems the notion of caveat emptor would fit the situation well.... Show more content on

In terms of this doctrine, Stella Liebeck would be held fully responsible for spilling hot coffee
on herself, which resulted in severe burns. It would mean that she was aware she was purchasing
hot coffee and by that purchase would be held to logical use of the coffee because of the hot
contents. An argument of age could be brought into the picture, given that she was an older adult,
and she may not have understood or remembered what could have happened if hot coffee spilled
on her. However, that would be discriminatory against her and would be offensive to imply she
was not able to make a logical decision due to

Pros And Cons Of Flat Tax
Is flat tax beneficial for the society?
Flat tax may bring about a transformation to the society.
Pros:
It is fairly simple easy to understand and comply with, thereby reducing errors and tax fraud It
promotes sustainable development
Key advocates of the flat tax rate believe that people can be encouraged to work harder to earn
one`s fortune because they won t be afraid of a larger tax penalty for a bigger income. In addition,
more businesses will be more willing to invest. This may bolster progress in more stable economic
growth and higher overall tax revenue.
Cons:
It favors the wealthy.
Those who are earning bigger income can enjoy paying less tax, so they end up with more money,
further widening the gap between the rich and the poor.

Minimum wages may raise the challenge of inequality. Why it is so?
The minimum wage is not related to job cuts.
I will provide a case in point.
According to the study of fast food restaurants by David Card and Alan Krueger in 1992 after
increasing the minimum wage, employment in restaurants also increased. Thus raising the
minimum wage did not reduce employment.
The minimum wage leads to an increase in the standard of living. According to the International
Labor Organization, the existence of the minimum wage in the country provide an incentive for
getting a job, rather than live on unemployment benefits. If the state introduces a minimum wage,
then there is a narrowing of the gap between the rich and the poor.
Minimum wages do not raise the challenge of inequality. Why it is so?
The minimum wage leads to unemployment.
According to the Economist, the introduction or increase of the minimum wage results in
companies being forced either to reduce investments in the development of employees or to fire
them. The growing number of unemployed people certainly can not lead to a narrowing of the gap
between the rich and the

All Quiet On The Western Front Comradeship Analysis
We all share the same fear and the same life;we are nearer than lovers, in a simpler, a harder
way;I could bury my face in them, in these voices, these words that have saved me and will stand
by me . Comradeship is vital in war, because it keeps soldiers human. The theme of comradeship in
All Quiet on the Western Front is embraced when the soldiers rescue each other during battle, stick
together and not become separated, and keep each other s spirits up in the darkest of days.
Soldiers rescuing each other during battle shows comradeship. While fighting on the front line,
Paul becomes separated from his comrades and cannot search for them for fear of being shot
down. It is Kat and Albert who have come out with a stretcher to look for me, (Remarque 227).
Paul s friends coming to search for him shows comradeship because they are being brave and
risking their lives to find their friend. Going out to look for Paul shows that they care about and
value him. During a bombardment, new recruits are traumatized, scared, and helpless because they
do not know what to do, so veterans quickly teach them. We teach them to fling themselves into
holes as quick as lightning... (Remarque 134). The soldiers try to help each other during battle,
which displays comradeship because veterans want to help them live. They aren t doing this to
have bodies to fight, but to save human souls. Comradeship is embraced by soldiers rescuing and
teaching each other during war.
Comradeship is also shown when

potential solutions for the provided business scenario. Furthermore, the case method can also be
described as something that gives you a detailed explanation of a company, industry, person, or

D) PREPARATION In order to be well prepared for a case studypresentation, it is crucial to
familiarize with the case and its context individually. To fully understand the case, it must be
read several times while emphasizing different key elements. Taking notes while reading the
case can also increase productivity, which would make the preparation process more efficient.
By reading the case several times and taking notes, students will get a full understanding on the
problems discussed in the case as well as the people or key players involved in the case. It is also
important to research the company for which you are presenting the case for, which would allow
you to back up your presentation with facts and realistic action plans. Use of visual tools during
the preparation, such as graphs and charts, will also help get ideas across more efficiently to the
audience. Lastly, it is important to focus on the objective and goal of the company in order to come
up with an action plan, which can be implemented to attain the company s objectives.

The Effects of Falling Gas Prices on Operation Management Decision Making
Dylan Knight
Robert Morris University
Abstract This paper briefly takes a look at how the price of gas has changed over the past ten
years and what has caused the drop in fuel prices within the past few years. It then looks at the
fuel price s effect on business operation through the eyes of the Operations Manager and the key
aspects in decision making that they have to consider when the gas prices fall, like they have
recently. I then give you an idea of how the falling prices effect the ApartmentManagement
industry and the operations involved in renting and renovating apartments.

The one downfall of the increased production here in the United States is the drilling has slowed
down drastically leaving many oil workers without a job and forcing some companies out of
business. (Krauss) Another cause of the gas prices dropping, according to an article on CNN, is
the economic slowdown of the Chinese economy. They also mentioned the increased production
in the United States and finally the tentative nuclear deal which would make their oil more
readily available to our country. In the article they also predicted that by the time football season
came around that tens of thousands of gas stations across the country will be below the $2 a
gallon mark. (Isidore) Even though we have seen it come close here in Pennsylvania, it has not
gone below $2 here in the greater Pittsburgh area. A few times that I have been home in Ohio I
have seen it drop below $2 but it ultimately just depends on which area you are in. With winter
quickly approaching gas prices are expected to continue to drop as stations mix a less expensive
blend of gas for the winter months. (Isidore) So it is a possibility that we could see prices here in
the Pittsburgh area fall to the $2 a gallon area. If I were placed as the Operations Manager in any

The Economic Background Of A Student
Economics:
The economic background of a student has an impact on where he or she decides to live after
school. Even if a student does not move out after high school, there is a chance that they will move
out of a parent s house after college. Research shows that 85% of students returned home after
college especially during the time of recession back in 2011. This information is from Boomerang
kids: 85% of college grads move home by Jessica Dickler, who is a staff writer for CNNMoney.
Today a college graduate has really slim chances of finding a job as soon as graduating from
college. College Graduates Tackle Depressed Job Market by David Faulk stated, when the
economy is poor, the trend would be to try to stay near one s support system, students already
have their friends and family to rely on, and moving is expensive, Faulk states. This shows that
when times are tough it is easier to rely on your family and loved ones to help support you which
is why students move back home after graduation.
In the Opinion article, Growing Up, Then Going Home, The New York Times revolves around
various college graduates stories about moving back home after graduating. All the stories revolve
around the same concept, how one feels after being independent in college but moving back in with
your parents after graduating. All had the same feeling, as if they were a burden to their parents and
questioned if their parents even wanted them there. One writer, Rachel, writes At 22, being taken

Geo World Cities Economic and Cultural Authority Essay
Question: Demonstrate why world cities are powerful centres of economic and cultural authority
A world city is a large city that has been outstripped its natural urban network and become part of an
international global system. World cities have become the central connecting point for the
multiplicity of linkages and interconnections that sustain the contemporary world economy, and its
social and political systems. According to the 2004 GaWC studies world cities can be ranked
based on their provision of advanced producer services such as accountancy, advertising, finance
and law. In 2008 the rankings according to the GaWC determined that London and New York were

Hence, world cities influence the flow of both finance and investment throughout the world thus
resulting in economic authority.
World cities are markets for a vast range of goods and services as they are areas of massive
accumulations of wealth and have extraordinary purchasing power. The importance of these cities
as markets is shown by patterns of concentrated retailing in high order consumer goods, such as
clothing, jewellery, and art. Streets such as Fifth Avenue in New York are famous for their retailing
of very expensive goods.
Cultural Authority
World cities are centres for a range of cultural facilities and world entertainment. They have
theatres, opera houses, large entertainment. They host major cultural and sporting events ranging
from art exhibitions to tennis tournaments. The 2008 Beijing Olympics and Fifa s world cup in
Munich both were viewed by over a billion people worldwide. New York for example has a very
strong cultural authority with the New York Times reporting that in 2010 48.7 million people
visited New York spending $31 billion, which is almost 7% increase when compared to the 45
million in 2009. New York is home to a range of museums such as the museum of modern art and
the Guggenheim, Broadway, famous universities such as Colombia and NYU, and centres for the
arts such as the Julliard School and Lincon centre. Therefore the cultural authority of a world city
stems from its ability to provide

1.2 Asanas
Asana practice and yoga practice are not one and the same. Asana is but one part of what yoga is
about. (see 1.1 introduction).
Asana practice covers the main task of hatha yoga (see 1.3 different approaches to yoga) and is the
third part of PataГ±jali s eight steps to attain the highest state of consciousness.
Traditionally ДЃsana means sitting condition or posture , it contributes to the steadiness of the
body and the mind and to a sense of well being. The term posture does not fully cover the meaning
of ДЃsana though. In a posture the state of mind is not of importance. Postures are created and held
below the level of consciousness. e.g.: involuntary lifting of the shoulders while under stress,
although the person is sitting quite comfortably in a chair.
Asana is acquired voluntarily. A thought process is avoided, one is supposed to concentrate on the
breathing or the universe while maintaining the ДЃsana. In ДЃsanas exercises the muscles, joints
and nerves while being maintained in a steady manner. When ДЃsanas are done accordingly, the

Nick s Love for the Gatsby in The Great Gatsby
During the 1920 s American culture was centered around status and wealth, especially in the
east, in hopes of living the true American dream . Although most people became shallow, empty,
and careless in their paths to wealth, often hurting those who have less then them, and making
them pay the consequences of their immoral actions. But Jay Gatsby was unlike every other
hollow person in the East, because he had something to live for, fight for, and dream for; Daisy
Buchanan. His love for her gave him the strength to keep believing in the American dream and
the drive to accomplish it. Gatsby restores Nicks faith in the people of the 1920 s by showing
him that not everyone is shallow and selfish, and that in order to live the American dream, hope
and determination can not be lost. Nick s love for Gatsby became more and more apparent
throughout the novel. Gatsby was an: extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness such as

Compare A Christmas Memory And The Gettysburg Address
The Great Depression was set off by the stock market crash of October 29, 1929. During the next
ten years, one in four people were unemployed, and begging for food, shelter, and other
necessities was widespread. A Christmas Memory, by Truman Capote, takes place during the
height of that period. Buddy and his friend, a mentally disabled older cousin of his, have to learn
how to survive and be joyful during that period. The story takes place during the holiday season,
where Buddy and his friend have to scrape together enough to have a good holiday. One lesson the
story suggests is that when people persevere, they may be able to find bliss even in the worst and
most trying times. Similarly, The Gettysburg Addressalso expresses the same theme of perseverance
through the fiery words of Abraham Lincoln.
The theme of perseverance is shown from the beginning of both A ChristmasMemory and The
Gettysburg Address . In A Christmas Memory, Buddy and his friend scramble to make fruitcakes
for their friends, even though there is no money for them to use, and alcohol, a key ingredient, is
prohibited. An example of their perseverance is when they go to Haha Jones, an illegal alcohol
dealer, to buy the final ingredient, whiskey. This shows perseverance because they needed to make
fruitcakes, so they went to extreme lengths to be able to produce them. In The Gettysburg Address,
Lincoln states, Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so

better? What main impression does each writer want to convey? How did the writers attitudes
toward the subjects affect my reaction?
The first question to answer is how does Carl Sandburg and John McPhee convey why his subject is
important? The writing of A Lincoln Preface is a upstanding writing that Carl Sandburg wrote.
Carl describes extremely well what Lincoln looked like and how Lincoln was a good person.
Carl also put his own interpretation into his writing. For example on page 456 Carl wrote He is
the chosen spokesman you can tell that he loved the way Lincoln spoke and he put his own
opinion on it. John McPhee did the same thing in his writings. John knew how his character was it

Patterns Of Spanish Exploration And Conquest
Patterns of Spanish Exploration and conquest, in 1527 a group of Spaniards set sail out of CГЎdiz,
Spain in the control of PГЎnfilo de NarvГЎez to discover a mysterious land called La Florida.
PГЎnfilo de NarvГЎez had around 500 Spaniard men in his control, little did he know only four
men would make it out of this strenuous journey. Those four men were Cabeza de Vaca, AndrГ©s
de Dorantes de Carranza, Alonso Castillo Maldonado, and an African slave, Esteban. Although
these men were expecting to come as conquerors, they instead where held as captives and forced
to complete tasks, for example, grubbing roots in coastal waters and in cane beds. Cabeza
documented his labors in La RelaciГіn in 1542 and in Naufragios in 1555, where he described how
much he was worked by his capturers, he said that his figures were worked so hard that if anything

Congestion Of Congestion Based Fees
Congestion, particularly in urban centers, has received much attention due to the resulting higher
absolute travel times and lower travel time reliability, that lead to higher fuel consumption and
significant environmental impacts. In response to the high congestion delays and costs, researchers
and policymakers have studied the need and the implications of implementing congestion based
fees in a bid to alleviate congested network links and/or areas, and divert traffic as needed,
temporally, spatially and modally, known as triple divergence (Downs, 1992). Proper evaluation of
any congestion management strategy requires explicitly setting performance measures that can be
used as indicators of how well the policyperforms, and whether or not the initial goals are reached.
Congestion pricing is a widely used policy aiming to mitigate congestion along heavily congested
facilities. The rationale behind congestion pricing is that users are charged a toll fee in order to use
the facility, in a bid to alleviate congestion and improve travel time along this facility, and/or collect
revenue to be allocated in congestion mitigation projects that would enhance the users experience
and the system performance overall. There are different implementation schemes, depending on the
level of sophistication that the agency wishes to achieve: unique vs. differentiated toll by vehicle
type/class, fixed vs. dynamic toll rates based on the traffic conditions, tolled lanes in conjunction

Essay about The Imporance of Polymers Today
A polymer is a large molecule consisting of many smaller subunits known as monomers. There
are different types of polymers and many uses for all of them. Even though people may not
realize it polymers play an essential role in our everyday life. For polymers range from plastics,
PVC, and Styrofoam to key structures in the human body like DNA and proteins which are key
components to the human body that makes it possible for each of us to live and be unique. So
with out polymers in our body we would be dead, and with out them in our society it would be a
drastically changed for the worse to say the least
Polymers are also commonly referred to as plastics so now you can put in to perspective how much
we use polymers. You can also realize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ON the other hand if it is properly recycled we are able to reuse the same plastic over and over again
for long periods of time while at the same time keeping a low production cost This is why plastic
is cheap even though it contains oil a very high priced item, for as long as people do their best to
not waste plastic and recycle it there really is not a need to waste our precious oil and manufacture
more of it.
Polymers effect every ones life almost every day allowing us to make many valuable items that
can help make our lives easier including plastic, PVC, and shellac there are also natural
polymers that we benefit from such as rubber and amber. Polymers are truly a great and very
beneficial item to everyone for they are tough, durable, and cheap but they are also recyclable
which can be very beneficial to our environment and societal needs. The only negative effect is
when it is not properly disposed but this is really the users fault not the actual item its self
Though polymers are a very beneficial thing now, but In the future I believe that at the very best
that they will only hold the same value to society. I say this because polymers are not a very
complicated item and it would be difficult to better this technology in a drastic way. The only
further advancements I see are people discovering ways to make polymers stronger, more durable
and better suited for extreme and

The Death Of Artemio Cruz
The Death of Artemio Cruz is a novel written in 1962 by Carlos Fuentes chronicling the singular
life and destiny of a man raised in the lower classes of Mexico, who manages to rise into political
and economical power through intrigue and Manichean maneuverings. The following book critique
will contain a summary of the novel and provide some examples and parallels on core course
concepts evident in the story, hopefully demonstrating what learning was obtained using the lens of
global healthmatters. Some of my personal musings and reflections will be included in the paper,
and provide food for thought, reflections on universal problems commonly known if not shared by
us all.
Book Summary Beginning with his participation in the Mexican Revolutionary War as a young
soldier embracing Marxist ideals bent on overthrowing the established, corrupt political structure in
place, The Death of Artemio Cruz details the gradual rise in political and economical influence of
our character in the aftermath of a successful revolution. The main plot underlines a striking
contradiction, as the protagonist eventually espouses principles he has long eschewed, becoming
the exploiter instead of the champion of the downtrodden, betraying the principles he had fought
so long and hard for. The narrative begins while he lies helplessly on his deathbed, in the throes of
drug and disease induced delirium, and through a series of flashbacks features his somewhat addled
reminiscences of a (n) (in)

Advantages And Disadvantages For The Idea Of Single...
Q2. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for the idea of single language for all programming
do mains?
Developing a single programming language for all programming domains would be extremely
difficult and would require a method of logic unlike anything currently available because number
of domains have different requirements, different characteristics and criteria. It would also be
quite a feat to combine a functional language with an imperative language since by definition they
are nearly opposites. Scientific applications require features found in other languages, but
FORTRAN is suited to process the information more efficiently. Business applications have
evolved from COBOL to Visual Basic, but a language like FORTRAN does not allow for the GUI

Programming language should have Syntax, documentation, and error message, and exception
handling are the most important features in a perfect programming language.
Syntax that is meaningful and easy to understand. Even a very large and complex programming has
a very simple syntax structure .
Documentation should be easy to read, well indexed so that it s easy to find the relevant commands
and should have examples of each variation, sub command, etc.
Error messages should give enough information to actually due to this make debugging easy to do
rather than short cryptic messages that don t even give a proper information about the errors and
clue about what the problem was.

Ronald Dworkin Chapter 3
In Reading Three, Ronald Dworkin examines rights to autonomy and the resources those with
advanced alzheimer s should or should not have. He explains the decision processes that normal
average people have and if those with alzheimer s should have the same rights to making these
decisions. Summing up the example he gives about Margo Margo when competent could
express wishes to have her belongings donated and executed if she were to develop alzheimer s,
but then, when she does develop the disease and is no longer seen as competent her wishes may

Annotated Bibliography Summary
This annotated bibliography focuses on the traditional Southeast Asian healing technique known as
coin rubbing. The term coin rubbing goes by different variations of names in each different region
using the healing technique and although they have different names, the healing technique works
the exactly the same in all regions to mostly treat headaches, flu, colds, and relief pains and
symptoms. The most common name can be found in literature are Cao gio, Gua sha, Beating the
wind, or Scarping/Scratching the wind. Although, Cao gio has been found on case reports in
Western literature, there are no data or studies to prove the physiological effects of the therapeutic
therapy. Therefore, this annotated bibliography will explore the culture beliefs... Show more content

Parents are being wrongfully accused and trail for abusing their children when they have
attempted to use traditional healing techniques on their sick kids. Many Americans are alarm to
find the folk remedy to appear harsh, abusive, and hurtful, but are unaware that the healing
practice cures a particular sickness or disease and pain like a child common cold, stomach
problems, or a little headache. This book relates to my topic because it is found that more and
more people are now not using cao gio when they live in western society in fear that they might go
to jail and at the same time, they are not seeking other health care because they re not familiar to
the western health care system, especially to those who newly immigrated into the country. In the
article by Davis, Ruth E, the author suggest that physicians, doctors, as well as teachers, friends,
and neighbor should have knowledge of these cultural practices to be culturally aware of cao gio,
rather than pointing fingers of bad parenting which then takes it to far, tears the family apart, and
would only be hurting the kids

Secret Intelligence Service and Espionage
To what extent have spies and covert operations shaped the course of history?
Espionage plays a big role in our history and there are many examples that show it. The
importance of espionage in military affairs has been recognized since the beginning of recorded
history. The Egyptians had a well developed secret service, and spying and subversion are
mentioned in the Iliad and in the Bible. The ancient Chinese treatise (c.500 B.C.) on the art of war
devotes much attention to deception and intelligence gathering, arguing that all war is based on
deception. In the Middle Ages, political espionage became important. Joan of Arc was betrayed by
Bishop Pierre Cauchon of Beauvais, a spy in the pay of the English, and Sir Francis Walsingham...

Egyptian spies made significant contributions to espionage tradecraft. As the ancient civilizations
of Egypt, Greece, and Rome employed literate subjects in their civil services, many spies dealt
with written communications. They had to develop codes and disguise writing. Egyptian spies
were the first to develop the extensive use of poisons, including toxins derived from plants and
snakes, to carry out assassinations or acts of sabotage.
Greece
The rise of the Greek civilization brought forth new concepts of government and law
enforcement. Between 1500 B.C. and 1200 B.C., Greece s many wars with its regional rivals led
to the development of new military and intelligence strategies. The early Greeks relied on
deception as a primary means of achieving surprise attacks on their enemies. So renowned were
Greek employments of deceptive strategies, that Greek literature from antiquity celebrated its
intelligence and espionage exploits. The legendary incident of the Trojan Horse, a wooden
structure given to the city of Troy as gift, but which contained several hundred Greek soldiers
seeking safe entrance into the heavily fortified rival city, became the symbol of Grecian intelligence
prowess.
In the era of democratic Greek city states, espionage was chiefly employed as a political tool.
Agents of espionage spied on rival city states, providing rulers with information on military strength
and defenses. The most

Analysis Of Gabriell Needham s The Killing Fields
Gabriell Needham, Making of the Modern World I found the film, The Killing Fields , very
moving. There were countless scenes where my heart melted and I felt as if I could feel the pain
of the innocent Cambodians in a minute sense. There is absolutely no way I could ever imagine
what it was like to live though such a brutal and emotional part of history. The actors who portrayed
individuals in the film seemed to be very connected and the relationship between Pran and Sydney
was brilliantly displayed. Throughout the movie, I was genuinely intrigued. I think that the
friendship between Pran and Sydney captured my attention well and it made the rest of the movie
very emotional and meaningful. Even though Pran could have... Show more content on

Lastly, I feel as if Pran finished the movie as a hero. After Pran escaped from the re education
camp, he came across a family consisting of Khmer Rouge official and his son. Even though the
official knew Pran was against the revolution, which would normally be very deadly knowledge,
he let him stay because his son had grown attached to him. The official thought that it was time
for his son to leave because the war was starting to get worse so he left him under the care of
Pran. The boy s father was eventually killed and Pran took the young boy and carried him
through a mine filled jungle along with a few other soldiers in hopes of giving him a new life. I
was surprised by the fact that the Khmer Rouge official allowed Pran to be around his son in the
first place. I found the leader to be very easy going considering that he did not have Pran killed
when he learned that he could speak French. I feel as if the official knew that the war was turning
into something that had gotten way out of control and before he could stop the madness, it was too
late.
Cambodia was torn to shreds when Pol Pot s regime took over. As seen in the movie, so many
innocent people were killed by ruthless soldiers and U.S. bombs. Cambodians were forced to
leave their homes with as little as possible. They were assured that they would be taken care of
and that they did not need to bring much of anything since Angkor would provide for them.

Optic Neuritis Case Studies
Optic Neuritis
Introduction
Optic neuritis (ON) is a disease related to the eye that causes visual impairment. ON arises due to
the inflammation and demyelination of the optic nerve, affecting interpretation of visual signals
causing blurred, grey or dim vision. More often than not, ON is monocular in scope however
there are cases where both eyes are affected. ON has been known to be highly associated with
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) however an individual does not have to have MS to be diagnosed with ON.

Epidemiology and Pathology
Optic Neuritis has been found to persist more commonly in young healthy adults, with females
having a higher incidence rate than males. ON is the most common optic neuropathy in individuals
under the age of 50 years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acute ON usually involves a singular eye being affected whereby 90% of ON cases take place;
the other 10% of cases occurring in both eyes is found to occur more frequently in children
under the age of 15. The Optic Neuritis Treatment Trials (ONTT) identified vision loss and eye
pain as the most common symptoms found in patients with acute unilateral ON. Vision loss was
found to occur steadily over a period of a few hours to a few days, with a peak in between 1 2
weeks, whilst eye pain occurred in 92% of those affected and would worsen through eye
movement. These visual defects however would usually resolve itself with care, with the ONTT
presenting 56% of participants being clear after one year and 73% cleared after 10 (Cleary et
al., 1997). In other cases, a patient may become affected with papillitis (intraocular ON) causing
hyperemia leading to the swelling of the optic disc; a point of exit for optic ganglion cells. This
area is important for the major blood vessels to supply the retina and thus aid in interpreting visual
signals to be passed through the optic nerve into the brain. пѓ

process is about the design traffic (ESA). To design the traffic, traffic loading is the main
parameter to be known. Traffic loading contains four type of design such as seal design,
highway pavement design, airports design, ports and log handling yards. Seal design is using the

How Does the Embryo Take Form and Differentiate to Become...
Throughout this discovery process there have been many questions that have guided the scientific
community towards finding answers. One of the earlier questions was how does the embryo take
form and differentiate to become an organised organism?
This question began to be answered in 1924, when H Spermann and H mangold published a paper
describing their experimentation with newt embryos. They discovered that by taking the dorsal lip
and transferring it to the ventral side of a new embryo; it would form a new embryonic axis by
instructing surrounding cells to undergo neutralisation and dorsalisation alongside a pre existing
embryo (Spermann Mangold, 1924). The reason this had such large implications was because it
proved that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nobutaka Hirokawa 1998
They were able to prove that the motile cilia in the node where in fact motile through the use of
electron microscopy and show the cilia beating the extra embryonic fluid in a leftward direction,
which they named the nodal flow (Nonaka Tanaka, 1998). Furthermore, they were able to
emphasise the important role of KIF3B in L R determination (Nonaka Tanaka, 1998). A number of
methods were used to show this discovery. Embryos were analysed during a whole mount in situ
hybridisation, and also by histological techniques (Nonaka Tanaka, 1998). To view the nodal cilia,
fluorescent microscopy using a confocal laser microscope, and immunoelectron microscopy using
electron microscopy was used without electron staining (Nonaka Tanaka, 1998). Electron
microscopy was also used with electron staining to view the embryo (Nonaka Tanaka, 1998).
Fluorescent latex beads were used to visualise nodal flow, and the image was projected to a
camera, where the fluoresced beads could highlight the nodal flow and differentiate it from all
other structures (Nonaka Tanaka, 1998). By comparing wild type mice with KIF3B deficient mice
that lacked nodal cilia, they were able to show the importance of the motile cilia, and that the initial

Ichika then said I don t think so, but I found a file with your name on it, with the letters V.S.S.E, so what aren t you telling me? Chifuyu sat down next to her little brother and began to talk with him, Ok Ichika, but you re not going to believe me. Ichika then sat next to her Try me, I m still a very good listener. He said. Chifuyu then began to tell her story, Before I came to pilot an IS, I was once an agent of an elite international intelligence agency, the V.S.S.E, which was short for Vital Situation Swift Elimination. The agency was involved in eliminating any terrorist threat to the security of the world. I was a part of the Field Operations Unit which was comprised of the best agents in the world. After I left the agency, I left most of the shares to you. I m sorry that I didn t tell you Ichika. You weren t ready for the truth. Ichika was shocked about what he heard. • 3. Ronald Reagan s Foreign Policy Ronald Reagan was an actor and cowboy that must of the world didn t take serious at first! But once he took the oath of office; he would get the world s attention. He enters into office with the United States in an economic and military mess. He would fix the economic mess by cutting taxes and jump starting the economy. The military would be fixed by his Doctrine. The Reagan Doctrine was an aggressive foreign policy from 1981 87 in his first term as President he designed a plan to roll back Communism at its weakest points, and weaken the U.S.S.R by targeting the overthrow of its marginal allies in the non industrialized World. Many pundits argue that it was a smashing success and dramatically undermined the power of the U.S.S.R, forcing it to retreat, and collapse by 1989. Reagan s foreign policy could be stated by his view of the U.S.S.R as the Evil Empire that is an illegitimate state. He rejected the dГ©tente policy that Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter had pursued until 1979, when the U.S.S.R invaded Afghanistan proved its failure. Reagan long had opposed the containment strategy. Reagan instead proposed Rollback, a strategy to steadily reduce and eventually eliminate the Communist threat. In 1981 the newly elected Reagan rejected Henry Kissinger and other advocates of dГ©tente and brought in hard liners, many of them previously associated with Democratic Senator Henry Jackson. The Reagan Doctrine in fact operated as early as 1981, without a name, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Italian Cinema Paper Blow Up, his second colored film, investigates how man deals with the flux even though he is separated from it. The viewer is first introduced to downtown London. A grayish black jeep, teeming with shouting young adults, crawls over a cobble stone hill into a gray blue sky and turns the corner. The jeep reappears in a wide street, young adults, painted as mimes, pour from the vehicle and flood the road. A small group passes by the protagonist Thomas, who hands one begging girl a crumpled bill from the back seat of his car. The cameraattaches to Thomas, and the viewer stares down at him as he drives through a tunnel. Unlike L Eclisse, Thomas is immediately depicted as a moving factor in the flux of reality. The viewer knows his landscape before they know him, and Antonioni tells the viewer they will not know Thomas when the viewer does not see the jeep turn a corner. The viewer is driving blindly into Thomas s story and will have to make conclusions based on separate pieces of information. They are further separated from Thomas because Antonioni gives us permission to figuratively judge him by literally looking down at him. Thomas s ground position suggests Thomas is a man who functions in human utility and even the viewer, who Antonioni does not know, is closer to reality than his character. Antonioni gives grounds for these assumptions when the viewer watches Thomas, a photographer by profession, shoot two photo shoots. Thomas hovers and yells at his model, ... • 5. Voltaire’s Candide The Human Tissue Act 65 of 1983 regulates all aspects regarding organ transplants. This Act was last amended in 1989. Since then medical science has developed so big in size and to such an extent that organ transplants today are almost routine operations in many hospitals. Unfortunately the current methods of procuring human organs are not supplying the demand. A new approach, the commercialization of human organs for transplantation is a possibility with the potential to supply one hundred per cent of the demand for organs. There are however many arguments against the commercialization of human organs. Ethical aspects concerning commercialization of human organs also need to be investigated, in order to reach a conclusion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such cases may be motivated by the desire to discharge a religious duty, to correct a wrong done in the past, to gain mental or moral satisfaction, or to be seen as a good Samaritan. Once the practice of organ donation by the genetically related and also by strangers, based on altruism, has been accepted as ethically sound the following components of organ removal stand morally vindicated. Here are 2 of which they are talking about: (a) A person s expectation to enjoy life with the help of organs belonging to others is valid, and(b) the breach of a donor s bodily integrity and the consequent harms are permissible. Judged on these values a person s act of severing his/her organ in order to liberate a fellow being from a terminal illness or to save his/her life cannot be dubbed as immoral simply because the act is accompanied by a reasonable material consideration. When a person sells an organ he or she acts both selfishly, in advantaging him or herself, and altruistically, in contributing to a public good. The presence of considerations is not a sufficient reason to transform a simple act into a sin. Otherwise, selling water to the thirsty would be an equally big sin in fact rather a bigger one (Marino 2002). Policies on organ transplantation reflect a unique social paternalism. Objections against the sale of organs such as the dilution of altruism in society, the risk that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Classroom Management In The Classroom Classroom management is one of the most essential elements of teaching. Classroom management refers to the wide variety of skills and techniques that teachers use to keep students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on task, and academically productive during a class . Therefore, without good classroom management the classroom will not be an environment of learning, rather it will be an environment of chaos. My personal philosophy of educationpulls elements from three different models assertive discipline, CHAMPS, and capturing kids hearts. The main goal of the assertive discipline model is to put the teacher in charge of the classroom. However, teachers are also expected to treat students as their allies in the learning experience. Although there are elements of assertive discipline that I do not agree with, my idea of discipline in the classroom aligns best with this model. When using assertive discipline, the teacher decides on the class rules before school begins. The teacher also has a system of both positive and negative consequences in place. Additionally, consequences occur in a hierarchy system, known as the discipline hierarchy. The discipline hierarchy is a system of between 3 6 different consequences that become harsher as a student continues to misbehave. For a first offense, the student is simply given a warning. If the student continues to misbehave than the second and third time they are taken out of an activity. The fourth time the parents are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Three Main Ideas From The Communist Manifesto Foundations of Sociology essay (Soc 10010) Describe the three main ideas from the Communist Manifesto. In this essay I will discuss three of the main ideas from Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto . I have chosen to look at class struggles, the abolishment of private property and the idea that states look after the dominant classes in societies. I chose these as I found them to be the three main ideas that stood out to me most after reading the book. I have delved into each one and shown why I think they are the three main ideas. I found them to be very interesting ideas which Marx has communicated very well. Class struggles are a key idea in Marx s Communist Manifesto . Marx opens his Manifesto with the line The history of all hitherto existing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are never really major reforms to help all, after revolutions. The bourgeoisie, in France, had been oppressed and after overthrowing the very distinct upper class they now held the power. During the revolution they campaigned for liberty, equality and fraternity. This did not materialise afterwards as stated by Marx: The modern bourgeois society that has sprouted from the ruins of feudal society has not done away with class antagonisms. It has but established new classes, new conditions of oppression, new forms of struggle in place of the old ones. Marx (1848, p.74) Marx proves that even when societies have fought for something like freedom, it does not always last. The bourgeois brought in capitalism, which brought freedom, but it brought freedom to the bourgeois and left the other classes behind with very little or nothing. This shows that economics have a massive hold on where the power in societies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. My Antonia Racial Prejudice Immigrants constantly face racial prejudices unknown to the privileged. These immigrants are only trying to have a life for themselves and/or for their children. My Antonia by Willa Cather entails the trials and tribulations of those who seek success told through the perspective of Jim Burden. The novel consists of people out of the country wanting a better life for themselves; That s what they want most of all. The immigrants that Jim comes to know go through hardships that they overcome to finally become successful in the end. First and foremost, Jim meets the Shimerda familywho constantly face hardships through their tough journey to what they view as success. Antonia knows the struggle firsthand since she has faced the harsh conditions of starting off in a new country since she is a Shimerda. Antonia tells Jim, If I live here, like you, that is different. Things will be easy for you. But they will be hard for us (Cather 90). Antonia knows the racial difference between her and Jim. She has to work harder than the native speakers to be able to achieve what might come easily to them. Later on in the novel, Antonia goes off with a guy named Larry Donovan he informs her that his job has moved. This ended up being a lie. He leaves her whilst she s pregnant, so she becomes a single mom. Jim expresses his thoughts, I was bitterly disappointed in her [ГЃntonia]. I could not forgive her for becoming an object of pity (Cather 192). Jim expresses his dismay that Antonia has basically ruined her life by putting faith into a man of words. Antonia s reputation fell drastically after this and it appears as though it would be hard to pick up. However, when Jim returns, he ends up being wrong. In the literary criticism, Anthony M. Dykema VanderArk states, She appears at the end of My Antonia as a figure who has triВumphed over the hardships of her life through stalВwart struggle...ensuring an easier future for her children (Dykema VanderArk 211). • 9. Betrayal In Othello And Jane Austen s Persuasion Thesis: Betrayal is a common factor in many pieces of literature including Shakespeare s Othello, William Blake s A Poison Tree, and Jane Austen s Persuasion. Questions: What spawned the first acts of betrayal? The first acts of betrayal in Othello and A Poison Tree occur before the story starts. Iago in Othello s eyes was a dear friend and honest man that would never betray him, however as the story progresses the reader finds out that Iago is holding a grudge against Othello for passing him up for a position he was more than qualified to hold. This occurs frequently today where a highly qualified person may be passed up for a position that was given to a man with connections. In A Poison Tree the speaker is upset with someone dear to him about something that happens before the story begins. Similar to modern times a person in a relationship may loose trust in their significant other due to a miscommunication where the victim may not know what happened exactly but still may feel betrayed. Each incident starts a chain reaction that helps the plot move forward.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Othello s betrayal sets the stories antagonists into motion giving him the motivation to plot against everyone else. In A Poison Tree the same thing takes place, the narrorator is put into the thoughts of his enemies demise. Unlike Othello the speaker in A Poison Tree tries to keep himself from going down the dark path whereas Iago embraces his darker side. Nowadays a majority of people would try to be more like the speaker in A Poison Tree and try to be more forgiving, however there are some who take Iago s path and seek ... Yang now has to prove he can boost Yahoo! s share price and justify his board s decision. Ballmer wrote: Our discussions led us to conclude that you would take steps to make Yahoo! undesirable. We regard with particular concern your plan to respond to a hostile bid by outsourcing to Google key paid internet search facilities currently offered by Yahoo! Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP, an advertising agency, who wants to see a stronger rival to Google, commented: Microsoft showed self discipline by not bidding higher. • 11. Essay on Voting should be an obligation not a choice Voting should be an obligation not an option Living in America gives each person individual freedom. The freedom is yours to express your own opinion and to vote. Whether or not we choose to exercise these rights is the decision that every American citizen makes. Participating in our government is the single most important power that we as Americans have. Whether it is to elect officials or to amend a law, votingis not only a necessity, but a responsibility. (Wendy Underhill) If you are not going to participate in electing the officials, then you should not have the opportunity or privilege in criticizing how they do their job. Some people argue that non voters do not vote because they are happy with the government. This does not seem to be the case. The 1996 National Election Study showed that nonvoters were less positive than voters. There are a variety of characteristics between nonvoters and voters. Citizens with a college degree are more likely to vote than people without a college degree. Older people are also more likely than younger people to vote. Polls show that young people are more dissatisfied with the government than older citizens are. Then why don t younger people vote? Some do not vote because they do not know who to vote for. A quarter of nonvoter s will lie on polls saying that they did vote. If you are going to be ashamed by not voting and afraid to tell someone why, then you should vote. It is very simple. • 12. Should Music Programs Be Mandatory Essay I believe that music programs should be mandatory in high school. I say this for a number of reasons, not all of them relating to music. Music programs can do so much more for a student than allow them to learn to read music or play an instrument; music programs teach the student life skills. Again, musicprograms should be mandatory in high school. To begin with, music programs are not normal classes. What other class requires the complete integration of every student? What other class encourages healthy competition? What other class has a teacher who is required to have such patience? Music programs allow students to learn skills not taught in other classes. They allow straight A students who have problems connecting with other people to amend that. They allow failing students to learn the merits of trying harder. Any student who is in a music program has to think about who takes the hit for an error or lack of motivation on their part. This kind of thinking applies to the real world more than a good or bad grade does, as not being the best student or person you can be puts weight on others as well as hindering your success. Secondly, music stimulates parts of the brain and body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I ve shown, studies conducted on the subject indicate that music programs universally raise academic ability. Let us begin with the definitions of insider trading: Insider trading is the trading of a public company s stock or other securities (such as bonds or stock options) by individuals with access to non public information about the company. In various countries, insider trading based on inside information is illegal. This is because it is seen as unfair to other investors who do not have access to the information. Wikipedia, 2014 Insider trading is defined as a malpractice wherein trade of a company s securities is undertaken by people who by virtue of their work have access to the otherwise non public information which can be crucial for making investment decisions. Liebeck Vs Caveat Emptor Essay Liebeck vs. Caveat Emptor A.Villasmil University of the People PHIL1404 AY2018 T4 Professor: Cecil Blount Liebeck vs. Caveat Emptor In 1992 there was a case between a patron, Stella Liebeck, and McDonald s Corporation (Brusseau, 2012). Fast forward to the end of the case, and we see McDonald s Corporation held liable for the damages and forced to pay Stella Liebeck. During that time, the media had many opinions on who was right or wrong in the case. The importance of these cities as markets is shown by patterns of concentrated retailing in high order consumer goods, such as clothing, jewellery, and art. Streets such as Fifth Avenue in New York are famous for their retailing of very expensive goods. Cultural Authority World cities are centres for a range of cultural facilities and world entertainment. They have theatres, opera houses, large entertainment. They host major cultural and sporting events ranging from art exhibitions to tennis tournaments. The 2008 Beijing Olympics and Fifa s world cup in Munich both were viewed by over a billion people worldwide. New York for example has a very strong cultural authority with the New York Times reporting that in 2010 48.7 million people visited New York spending $31 billion, which is almost 7% increase when compared to the 45 million in 2009. New York is home to a range of museums such as the museum of modern art and the Guggenheim, Broadway, famous universities such as Colombia and NYU, and centres for the arts such as the Julliard School and Lincon centre. During the next ten years, one in four people were unemployed, and begging for food, shelter, and other necessities was widespread. A Christmas Memory, by Truman Capote, takes place during the height of that period. Buddy and his friend, a mentally disabled older cousin of his, have to learn how to survive and be joyful during that period. The story takes place during the holiday season, where Buddy and his friend have to scrape together enough to have a good holiday. One lesson the story suggests is that when people persevere, they may be able to find bliss even in the worst and most trying times. Similarly, The Gettysburg Addressalso expresses the same theme of perseverance through the fiery words of Abraham Lincoln. The theme of perseverance is shown from the beginning of both A ChristmasMemory and The Gettysburg Address . In A Christmas Memory, Buddy and his friend scramble to make fruitcakes for their friends, even though there is no money for them to use, and alcohol, a key ingredient, is prohibited. An example of their perseverance is when they go to Haha Jones, an illegal alcohol dealer, to buy the final ingredient, whiskey. This shows perseverance because they needed to make fruitcakes, so they went to extreme lengths to be able to produce them. • 38. Congestion Of Congestion Based Fees Congestion, particularly in urban centers, has received much attention due to the resulting higher absolute travel times and lower travel time reliability, that lead to higher fuel consumption and significant environmental impacts. In response to the high congestion delays and costs, researchers and policymakers have studied the need and the implications of implementing congestion based fees in a bid to alleviate congested network links and/or areas, and divert traffic as needed, temporally, spatially and modally, known as triple divergence (Downs, 1992). Proper evaluation of any congestion management strategy requires explicitly setting performance measures that can be used as indicators of how well the policyperforms, and whether or not the initial goals are reached. Congestion pricing is a widely used policy aiming to mitigate congestion along heavily congested facilities. The rationale behind congestion pricing is that users are charged a toll fee in order to use the facility, in a bid to alleviate congestion and improve travel time along this facility, and/or collect revenue to be allocated in congestion mitigation projects that would enhance the users experience and the system performance overall. There are different implementation schemes, depending on the level of sophistication that the agency wishes to achieve: unique vs. differentiated toll by vehicle type/class, fixed vs. dynamic toll rates based on the traffic conditions, tolled lanes in conjunction with ... The main plot underlines a striking contradiction, as the protagonist eventually espouses principles he has long eschewed, becoming the exploiter instead of the champion of the downtrodden, betraying the principles he had fought so long and hard for. Throughout this discovery process there have been many questions that have guided the scientific community towards finding answers. One of the earlier questions was how does the embryo take form and differentiate to become an organised organism? They discovered that by taking the dorsal lip and transferring it to the ventral side of a new embryo; it would form a new embryonic axis by instructing surrounding cells to undergo neutralisation and dorsalisation alongside a pre existing embryo (Spermann Mangold, 1924).
