The Attitude of a Hacker in Kevin Mitnick s The Art of...
Kevin Mitnick, The Condor, The Darkside Hacker, The greatest hacker alive, whatever name he was
given that pins him down as a perpetrator of the law, Kevin Mitnick still serves as an educator to
enthusiasts in the world of Information Security. He unveils many secrets of the hacker in The Art of
Deception. The Art of Intrusion takes a different twist from its predecessor. It looks at the attitude of
the hacker and what drives them.
Personally the book lacked the full degree of intrusions one is capable of. Looking at the resume
Kevin Mitnick has, successful intruder, phenomenal social engineer, most wanted of the law, caught
and convicted criminal, security consultant and finally company CEO, one would have expected his
personal experiences and intrusions that finally landed him as the greatest hacker ever known by the
media. With this the book lacked some sort of uniqueness because it was based on other stories of
intrusions.
Mitnick took different stories and merged lots of information through them which in turn ended up
being more of an introduction course to types of security breaches than an in depth look at how
hackers can breach security. This showed some form of incompleteness especially to a technical
audience. For the non technical it serves as a good read but not much is learnt and gained by the
technical audience so I feel the target audience was blurred out. The stories seemed very fictional
which again raised the suspicion of whether they were really true or

The Decline Of Human Cultural Diversity
Languages are being rapidly lost, at a rate of extinction. Serious concerns over the impending loss of
human cultural diversity have caused many organizations to actively start engaging in the upkeep of
languages. Early studies have identified areas with a high number of endangered languages, and
preformed investigations. What they came across was the population size of the culture, and how vast
of an area the language is spoken in, are key factors to the decline of languages. Other factors include;
mass genocide, evolution, economics growth or decline, religion, a change in culture can be a partial
cause for the endangerment or extinction of a language. The main factor is usually when a more
powerful and pronounced language over takes the smaller subdivision languages, somewhat related to
what the Lingua franca. An example of this would be in Canada. In parts of Canada such as Quebec
the primary language is French, but in other many places in Canada, Toronto, Thunder Bay, Montreal,
the primary language is English, so French is become less common throughout the country. The more
powerful and know language allows for less language barriers, and allows easier communication. So
what does it mean for a language to become endangered? It means extinction may be in the near
future. Only a few people still speak the language and when they become deceased the language will
soon cease to exist, unless they preserve documents or it continues to get passed on. How many
languages

Counting on World Domination
WORLD DOMINATION
Waiting in the dark, waiting for the end. We heard footsteps outside the door, then they stoped. I was
clutching my mother and my baby sister in fear. No no no no. Not like this, I thought. Then we heard a
man say something in Russian. The door knob turned until the man realized it was locked. He slowly
walked away. It was finally safe. Australia was a great place to live until the Russians reunited the
Soviet Union. They launched nukes at the USA and then started to take over the rest of Asia. They
conquered Asia in less than five months and then moved on to Europe. They had no problem taking
over Europe except for Germany who held strong. The SU, Soviet Union, eventually gave up and
nuked Germany. The only real problem was when they moved onto Africa. The people of africa had
the advantage because the SU wasn t used to the climate. Obviously the SU had to enter Africa from
the North, so they went threw the Sahara Desert. The Africans had a defensive line set up in South
Sudan and shot down the SU s copters and planes and wiped out the ground forces with mortars. The
SU just went around the line and headed into a deathtrap. Most of the ground forces got slaughtered
by elephants and lions. They knew they couldn t go on like that and just made a truce with Africa. The
reason they didn t nuke Africa was because they ran out of missiles. The SU was too weak to attack
South America so the also made a truce with them. After 5 months of recovering they

San Juan And The Spider Monkeys Analysis
One of the greatest single traits shared by men and women who have been successful in business and
in pursuit of their life goals is persistence. I like to call that quality stickability, which the great
Napoleon Hill, the father of the modern philosophy of success, recognized in these words: One reason
why most men seldom accumulate fortunes until they have passed well beyond the 40 year goal post
of life is that they must undergo failures and adversities and overcome sufficient obstacles to develop
in them sufficient knowledge to accumulate wealth. In other words they must a strong and
unmistakable commandment persist in following their dreams, their most cherished ideas through to
the end. Of course, exceptions to every rule abound (think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They witnessed fear in the eyes of the creatures as they came closer, but surprisingly enough the
spider monkeys didn t let go of the nuts. They were unable to adapt to this strange, unforeseen
circumstance. They were unable to change course and elude their human predators. The hunters
simply snatched them up and threw them in a cage. San Juan was a hero. He had done something
nobody had ever done before. The monkeys could not see a solution beyond their challenge. They
simply sat there with their hands stuck in the containers until the hunters captured them. They ended
up as captives due to their inability to be flexible and adapt to the situation and paid for it with their
lives. Could it be that we are no different than the spider monkey? It s a matter of scale, of course, as
most folks would simply let go of the nut. Is it possible that we may be holding onto something that
should be let go of? Whether it s a bad relationship, job, guilt, remorse, anger, house, car, or worse.
Can it be that over time we too have confused stubbornness and stickabilty and at the end of the day...

Osmosis In Potato Lab Report
I. Title: The Water Potential of Potato Cells.
II. Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effect of the change in concentration of sucrose
on the rate of osmosis in cylinders of potatoes.
This would happen by using similar sizes and lengths of potato cylinders and applying the into
different concentrations of sucrose (0,10%,30%, 50%, 70%) in foam cups then measuring the change
in mass of the potato cylinders afterwards. Maintaining all variables unchanged such as pH, same size,
covered solutions, and a constant temperature. The time taken for all potato cylinders will be 24 hours.
III. Introduction:
In animal cells, the movement of water into and out of the cell is influenced by the relative
concentration of solute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, type of tissue was controlled by using only one type of tissue which is the same potato.
The hypothesis is that when cells are put in a solution with a different water potential than inside of
them, cells will gain or lose water. If concentration of solution is the same, there will be no change in
mass.
IV. Procedure
Materials
5 Foam cups.
5 labels
A potato
Cork borer
5 solutions
Plastic wrap
Weighing scale
Paper towels
Plastic knife
Procedures stated
1. 5 sucrose solutions were made of increasing molarity: 0.2 M, 0.4 M, 0.6 M, 0.8 M, 1.0M. 2. 50 mL
of each unknown solution were poured into 5 separate cups. A slice of potato was placed into 5 equal
cylinders. 3. The mass of the 5 potato cylinders were then recorded. 4. The cylinders were placed into
the foam cups with solution and covered with plastic wrap. It is to be left overnight. 5. The room
temperature was recorded in Celsius. 6. The cylinders are then to be removed from the cups and
carefully blotted of any excess solution. 7. The mass of the potato cylinders were recorded afterwards.

The Benefits Of Virtual Coaching
It has long been established by research that clinical internships and student teaching have one of the
most profound effects in the preparation of competent teachers (Darling Hammond Baratz Snowden,
2007). The research literature on virtual coaching provides evidence that virtual coaching is a
promising method for providing teacher candidates enrolled in an alternative route teacher program
with the support they need during their clinical internship to become effective teachers. Virtual
coaching is cost effective option that improves clinical internships for all stakeholders, and enhances
the systematic process of preparing future teachers by levering emerging technologies.

Over the years virtual coaching has successfully been accomplished by the use of two way radios,
computer mediated communications, video taped observations, feedback delivered via email, complex
videoconferencing systems, and more recently through the use of web 2.0 tools and mobile devices
(Barnett, 2006; Beck et al., 2002; Billingsley Scheuermann, 2014; Johnson et al, 2006; Rock et al.,

How Motivational Appeal Can Be Using Deceive Others Essay
There are many ways motivational appeal can be utilized to deceive others. In the film Promised Land
two of the main characters, Sue and Steve, utilize the motivational concept of fear to enact deception.
However, Frank Yates (a respected member of the community who opposes the town s acceptance of
Global) employs fear and ingratiation to undermine the natural gas company and expose the deception
that Global has employed, not only to the town but to Steve Butler as well. This paper will illustrate
how fear, warmth, and ingratiation play a vital role in the development and ultimate detection of
Global s deception.
Steve Butler and Sue Thomason are two sales executive from the natural gas company, Global, they
visit the town of Mckinley with the intentions of leasing the town for natural gas drilling; in order to
accomplish this Butler and Thomason enact deception to convince the residents of the town that
natural gas is their only option. Butler and his partner Sue Thomason make their first pitch to lease
land to the Allen family who have two young children. Thomason, a mother of a teenage boy herself,
utilizes fear to deceive Mrs. Allen (from whom they are trying to lease land) that the only way Mrs.
Allen s young son will have a bright future is if they allow Global to come into their town and lease
their land for drilling. While trying to convince the family that leasing their land is the right decision
Thomason says to Mrs. Allen, Even before the drilling, the

today I am joined with the Indigenous rights and cultural experts, Bella Simmons and Sarah Nel.
Today on Aboriginal affairs, we will be exploring the representations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander people within the Australian docudrama TV film, Mabo . Released in 2012, Australian
Broadcasting Corporation and Blackfella films have created a film that reflects the trials and
tribulations Indigenous and torres strait islanders had to face. Rachel Perkins, Director of the film

Perkins represented a strong connection between Mabo and his land. To introduce the film, Perkins
used a wide angled photographic image of the mountainous land and the vastness of the sea to capture
the beauty of the land as well as Land is Me attitude of the Murray Islanders. To Mabo, the land is not
just a territorial piece of physical land but was a place of cultural, spiritual origin and pride.
Culture
Bella or Sarah :Yes, I completely agree. The producers, Darren Dale and Miranda Dear depict the
relationship between the Torres straits and their love towards the land through various film techniques
to accentuate cultural difference. The establishing shot at the beginning of the film were flashbacks of
Eddie and , his Uncle who acted as his adopted Father, walking along the beach of Murray Island
while he spoke to Eddie. Everything here is yours, this is who you are , This statement clearly
highlights the Torres Strait Islanders strong connection with the land and sea. To emphasise this
statement, Perkins used bird s eye view close up shots to represent how young Eddie was when his
father started to ingrain cultural identity to him . While this is happening, Rachel Perkins has chosen
cultural indigenous music in the background, to reinforce Mabo s cultural identity in the Meriam
people.
Sharon: Yes I believe Cultural identity is continually established throughout this movie. During tough

Unicorn Tapestry Research Papers
The Hunt of the Unicorn (1495 1505), also know as The Unicorn Tapestry, is a series of seven
tapestries depicting the hunt, capture, and killing of a unicorn. Because each tapestry is different their
size varies, ranging from 368 x 378 cm. to 368 x 261 cm. Through out the series of tapestries, the
colors of the tapestry are vivid and rich despite their age. Woven from silk and metallic threads, the
colors range from blood red to hunter green to pale blue and ivory. No space is wasted or devoid of
embellishment. Vegetation surrounds the figures of animals and humans alike, reaching to the ends of
the fabric. No matter the conflicting seasonality of the fruit or flower, every plant and tree is seen at
their peek, in full bloom. The men of hunting party are dressed in their finest clothes, perhaps
unsuitable for the task at hand. The dogs are shown in vigorous action leaping at or away from the
unicorn, and are always seen frozen in a moment of activity. The seven tapestries are displayed in a
specific order: The Start of the Hunt, The Unicorn at the Fountain (fig. 1), The Unicorn Tries to
Escape, The Unicorn Defends Himself (fig. 2), The Unicorn is Tamed by the Maiden (fig. 3), The

The obvious expense put into this work would only support this claim, as benefactor would
presumably want the best artisans working on their investment. The creation of the tapestries involved
more than just a collection of weavers. The concept would have been the work of one person, with the
sketching done by another and the reference painting by yet another artist. Additionally, the threads
would have been specifically dyed for this work, while the metallic threads would have been crafted
by another set of artisans. Together, these separate groups composed the pieces needed for the weavers
to actualize this stunningly complicated and detailed

The Meuse Argonne Offensive Of World War I
The Meuse Argonne offensive of World War I began in the fall of 1918. The offensive began in the
dawn of 26 September 1918 and concluded on 11 November 1918 after forty seven days. The massive
and bloody offensive pitted the newly formed American Expeditionary Force (AEF) referred to its
allies as the Doughboys led by General John Black Jack Pershing against a heavily fortified German
force entrenched between the Meuse River and Argonne Forest located northwest of Verdun in the
Alsace Lorraine region. The battle became the bloodiest and deadliest in the Army s history. This
battle analysis will examine the Meuse Argonne offensive.

The victory at Meuse Argonne on 11 November 1918 led to the armistice that ended the Great War.
The weather in the Meuse Argonne region in the fall of 1918 presented cold rain, heavy fog, and mist.
All three reduced visibility affecting maneuver, aerial support and artillery support. However, the rain
presented a greater challenge resulting from flooded trenches and roads, muddy ground that slowed
maneuver, and reduced morale and increased in cases of pneumonia due to the wet conditions.
The terrain in the Meuse Argonne region in its natural form and after three years of fortification
favored the German Army. The battlefield resembled a funnel with the wide end serving as the start
point for the AEF to begin its maneuver towards the spout where fortified positions awaited to the
north. It naturally afforded the defending Germans clear observation and fields of fire for German
machine guns to engage approaching Allied troops.
To the western edge of the AEF s front line, the dense Argonne Forest ran generally north northwest
while twenty miles to the eastern edge of the front line stood the impassable Meuse River running
north to south; both reduced the avenues of approach forcing the AEF to advance towards the
seemingly impregnable defense. Key terrain offered a wooded landscape along the hills, ridges, and
valleys provided the Germans natural concealment. Obstacles such as streams and low ground

Loyalty, By George Orwell
Loyalty Questioned, and Humanity Revealed Loyalty is a bond a mutual trust, the most personal and
sacred bond in human history. You must have loyalty before you can have friendship, or love. Loyalty
means someone can count on you, someone can trust you to be there when in need. Loyalty is a major
theme of George Orwell s novel 1984. In a totalitarian world where loyalty, love, and any other
personal feelings are outlawed by the vicious Party, some are still trying to find the strength to rebel.
Winston, a silent rebel of the party, lives in constant fear of being captured and tortured for his
suppressed protest. He yearns to live, to feel, and to make love. After he meets a beautiful girl named
Julia, who shares his disdain for the Party, he knows she is the key to his dreams. The love story
between these two revolves around loyalty and rebellion. This novel focuses on the importance of
loyalty, and why it must be suppressed if a totalitarian society is to be achieved. It also focuses on how
even the strongest of loyalties can be broken under extreme stress. No loyalty is safe when torture, and
constant torment are forced on an individual. This is a heartbreaking and depressing novel that sheds
some harsh reality on loyalty and betrayal. The importance of loyalty, and the breaking point of trust
are both major themes of the novel 1984. Loyalty is incredibly important to any kind of relationship,
and it is of particular importance to Winston and Julia in 1984. The love

Problems With College Bathrooms
College dorms are always a great experience for your first year of college because we get to meet new
people. There is just one problem the bathrooms they could be changed. There should be no CO ED
bathroom, install more showers, give each room their own bathroom, or put locks on the shower. This
is a problem for me because I am not used to someone I don t know coming in the bathroom while I m
in the shower. I feel uncomfortable knowing that someone else is in there. There should be a change in
residence hall bathrooms that make students feel more comfortable and safe while being in the
bathroom.
As a college student, I feel as if in each dorm room should consist of a bathroom with a shower, sink,
and toilet. Each dorm should have their own bathroom because it would be more sanitary than sharing
a bathroom with 10 or more people every day. Schools should extend dorm rooms by taking out the
public bathrooms that way they can expand the rooms to fit the bathrooms. It would also be more
convenient to students because they wouldn t have to rush to be the first one in the shower in the
morning it would be right there in the room. You also won t have to worry about dirty showers or hair
stuck in the drains. To get this put into place students could start a petition for this to happen and if we
have enough hopefully the school will take it into consideration. This would be the best solution
because students would feel more comfortable using a bathroom in their room it could make

Essay on Communism and Socialism in George Orwell s Animal...
Communism and socialism in animal farn
Communism and socialism plays an important role in Animal Farm by George Orwell. All of the
events that occurred in the book represent actual events that happened to a communist country, now
known as Russia. Both communism and socialism have similar beliefs but still have their differences.
There has never been a communist society where people were happy and treated as equals to high
ranking government officials. There has been a time in Animal Farm when all animals were treated
equal, but that was only in the start of the post revolution. In the end of the book however, there is a
different story. The motif of the book is that any attempt to achieve the goals of a communist and
socialist society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pigs were without a doubt the leaders of Animal Farm. They could do anything to you, they could
make you live and could make you die. The socialist system is that the production and distribution of
products is maintained by the community. In Animal Farm , the animals were put in even more smaller
communities by species. There was groups made during the early post revolution like the Egg
Production Committee, the Clean Tails League and the Whiter Wool Movement. Also all political
actions are done by the community. There was the Meeting every Sunday where all the animals met in
the barn. What they did in the barn was they planned what to do next week and also debate
resolutions. The resolutions were put by pigs who were the only ones with the ability to make them.
Soon Napoleon and Snowball were debating against each other and were trying to get majority for
themselves. All the other animals couldn amp;#8217;t think up of anything for themselves but both of
the pigs were throwing many at them. They soon got out of their Socialist ways and started to become
closer to communism. An example of the complete end of Socialism in Animal Farm was when
Napoleon ordered the hens to lay a certain amount of eggs. The hens refused to do so but was forced
to which is definitely not socialistic. It isn amp;#8217;t socialistic because the production of products

Child Atrocities
GONE are the days when children were considered as gifts from God and women were revered as
mothers and sisters. Now girl children have sadly become lucrative business options for many in India
s most literate state.
The alarming rise in the number of child rape cases is a pointer in that direction. Children as young as
4 years are being raped and brutally killed and the convicts walk free for want of evidence or
exploiting the shoddy rape laws.
As many as 174 cases of rape of the minor girls were registered with the police during the six month
period from January to June 2011, according to figures released by the state police. The number is
very high compared to last few years. The number during the 12 month period in 2010 was 208 and ...

Challenges South African Americans Faced
South African ecologists currently face many challenges relating to the conservation of biodiversity
and the growing economy. Excessive hunting and land development, as well as unemployment, all
remain growing concerns for this struggling country. Jan Hendrik, a South African who made contact
with us, stated, South Africa has lots of social and economic problems because most people are poor.
To get them to middle class requires the economy to grow through mines and the expansion of living
areas (Hendrik). The growth of South Africa s economy often occurs at nature s expense. Mining,
fracking, expansion of living areas and big game hunting all benefit the economy. Unfortunately, each
have detrimental effects on the land and animals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to effectively combat these issues, leaders must implement new courses of action that involve
fundraising and awareness through the use of rhetorical sensitivity. According to Lloyd F. Bitzer,
associate professor of speech at the University of Wisconsin, a rhetorical situation arises when a
circumstance requires the attention of an audience. The audience must overcome obstacles to achieve
a certain goal set forth by the leader utilizing rhetorical discourse (Bitzer 9). Fundraising provides one
way for South African eco tourism companies to maintain their business and promote more jobs for
local people. In order for fundraising to yield the best results, leaders must be aware that there is no
reason to apologize for asking for a gift to a worthwhile cause (Rosso 6). Essentially, leaders must
have confidence in their cause, whether it includes the preservation of South Africa s wildlife, the
protection of its animals, or the promotion of employment among members of the community. This
positive attitude encourages tourists to donate more money or time to the companies, aiding in
achieving the goal s fulfillment. Rhetorically sensitive fund raisers may present the exigence and
constraints to their audience. In the case of ecotourism, the audience consists of foreign tourists who
bring new money to circulate throughout the struggling South African communities. If leaders do not

The Patriarchs were the forefathers of the Jews, first was Abraham, followed by his son Isaac, his
grandson Jacob, and Jacob s 12 sons from whom the 12 tribes of Israel originate (Wilkinson 76). The
story of Abraham is that he came from Mesopotamia at some point within the 2nd millennium BCE
because God had made a covenant, or agreement with him that he would be faithful to the people of
Israel, who must serve him and obey his laws. Abraham settled in the land later known as Israel and
during his time he wondered how God s promise could be fulfilled. Abraham was a man of great faith
and obedience to the will of God, so when Abrahams son Isaac was born God asked Abraham to
sacrifice his one and only son, in the moment when Abraham was going to kill his son, God
interrupted and told him to kill a ram instead. Later the Jews spent years in exile as slaves in Egypt,
Moses their prophet, was the one who led the Israelites out of Egypt. The ten commandments are what
God gave to Moses including the Torah. The writings decrypted on the tablets included the laws by
which all Jews must live. The ten commandments include things such as You shall have no other gods
before Me, you shall not make idols, you shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain,

Discrimination Is A Problem Since The Beginning Of Time
Discrimination has been a problem since the beginning of time. Discrimination is mentioned in many
pieces of classical literature such as Shakespeare s Othello. In this classical play the main character
Othello is never truly accepted into the Venetian society because he is a Moor from Northern Africa.
His skin color caused people to view him differently and also presented problems when he tried to
find a wife. After he eventually found and married Desdemona her father Brabantio still did not
approve of him; he said She, in spite of nature, Of years, of country, credit, everything, To fall in love
with what she feared to look on! It is a judgment maimed and most imperfect That will confess
perfection so could err Against all rules of nature (Act I, Scene 3). Brabantio saw this love as
unnatural because he believes Desdemona would never fall in love with a black man who she was
afraid to look upon. Before Othello married Desdemona Brabantio saw him as an honorable leader
and great man, but after their marriage he accuses him of black magic and urges their marriage to be
annulled by the Duke. This discrimination led to Othello s doubt and self conscience attitude which,
ultimately leads to his demise at the end of the play. Discrimination continues to exist today as it did
400 years ago in Shakespeare s time. Today people are still discriminated against and persecuted
because of their race or their religious views. The problem of racial discrimination was increasingly

Aphrodite Remedies
Now that we have looked at the symptoms, remedies, and agencies of Ἔρως, we ought to find a
decent definition of what Ἔρως is based on The Symposium. I think a helpful method of trying to find
the definition of Ἔρως is to look at the agencies, symptoms, and remedies. As shown earlier, we can
say that the agent of Ἔρως is Aphrodite. Aphrodite is the goddess of love. This being the case, we can
say that Ἔρως is either love, or a form of love. In order to see whether or not it is love or a form of
love, we must look at the symptoms. The symptoms as stated earlier of Ἔρως are courage, desire, and
being a pursuer. It seems that although these three symptoms are different, they all tend to be similar
to the idea of desire. This is shown because all people do things in order to achieve an apparent good
(which may or may not be good in reality.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From this then, we can say that Ἔρως produces desire in people. Finally, we will analyze the remedies
of Ἔρως. It has been stated earlier that the remedy of Ἔρως is to fulfill one s desires. The fulfillment
of one s desires seems to be a plausible remedy for Ἔρως because a symptom of Ἔρως is desire. We
say we know a thing based off of it s function. For example, we say that an axe is an axe if it can cut
down a tree by swinging, or a chair is a thing we sit on. If we change the function of a thing, then we
also change what the thing is. (If I sit on a table, I would argue that the table becomes a chair, since it
is serving the purpose of a chair.) For the case of Ἔρως, it seems that the function of Ἔρως is desire.
This being the case, we can say that Ἔρως is some sort of desire, and thus giving us a definition of
Ἔρως in regards to the

A Case Study of One Student s Approach to Reading The Divine Image
Hypothesis
When Marielle, an English 2 student, was given a series of critical thinking tasks, her first response to
the poem, The Divine Image, by William Blake changed as she followed the direction of each task and
built on her previous understanding of the poem. I describe her responses to the eight learning paper
tasks and her dissection of the poem for hidden meanings.
The Tasks and Various Interpretations
For each learning paper, Marielle was given eight different ways to interpret
The Divine Image, by William Blake. Learning paper 1 asked her to read the poem out loud, write
down any ideas that came to mind, then write a summary of what the ... Show more content on

For learning paper 2, she had to reread the poem, then detect and define key words that made a strong
impact on her. What Marielle did was define some of the words she felt were strong Mercy, Pity, Love
and Peace. She then reread the poem and was asked to reinterpret it. After she identified key words,
she felt that this poem is trying to reinforce the importance of being kind to others and treating them as
God would. Mercy, Pity Peace and Love are being reinforced as necessary human qualities. She
looked up the literal meanings of the key words, wrote them down, and added comments next to the
definitions. After defining and commenting on these key words, her opinion differed.
I am able now to see the correlation between the title the Divine Image and the song itself. The divine
image is expressed in its human form through the actions and feelings of Mercy, Pity, Peace and Love.
The Divine Image is referring to God, humans can be Godlike by performing these four feelings and
actions.
She now felt that humans were considered Divine only if they use Mercy, Pity, Peace and Love. In the
beginning, though, she felt that one had to treat others with the same respect like God and that the
characteristics were simply important for humans. Even though her opinion changed, she didn t use
the dictionary s literal meanings to write a translation of the poem, rather she constructed her version
of the poem with the words of the

Comparing A Dystopian Society In Fahrenheit 451 And Night
In two stories from different decades have one similarity in common. They both are stories that show
and take place within a dystopian society. The book Fahrenheit 451 is the story of a firefighter that
lives in a dystopian society that does not allow books to read for a source of media. Along with the
book Night, a teenage boy named Elie who lived through the Holocaust. Even though that the
Holocaust was an actual event in our world s history, it is still considered a dystopian society. Despite
the thoughts of many individuals within these dystopian societies, the governments try to take over
and control these persons thoughts on the way society works. The two books Fahrenheit 451 and
Night are similar in many ways, because of the fact that both governments try to control the way the
people within them live.
The first similarity is the rules and regulations that these people are living with. In Fahrenheit 451
there were rules that any person who had any type of book in their possession were to be imprisoned
or even killed in some circumstances. These rules were to protect the government from being
overthrown by the fantasies that these books create and give some type of a better life for the people.
Night was a story about a Holocaust survivor. Elie and his father had been brighten to a concentration
camp where they had lived under a harsh environment. The Nazi government had created strict rules
that the ss officers had to enforce. Some of these rules were to treat the

It s Not Difficult To Hack The System Case Study

It s Not Difficult to Hack the System
It s not difficult to hack the system is what you hear from multiple professionals that work in the
energy security profession. A study found by University of Maryland department of engineering there
is a hacker attack every thirty nine seconds, affecting one in three Americans each year.[1] This data
was published in 2007 and has increased in the past decade. When Americans think of a cyber attack,
one would think of it being financial attack such as stolen credit card information. What if cyber
criminals took control of the power grid? The threat is real however and within 2011 to 2014 there
were 362 known targeted cyber attacks against the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This cost the economy from 6.5 10.8 billion of dollars with over a hundred fatalities in the hospitals
due to lack of power.[5]
With technology corporations knowing the risks involved with cyber attacks, research and innovation
have taken steps to prevent this apocalyptic scenario from happening again. The Department of
Energy has created localized grids that are normally connected to our traditional grid, but has the
option to be disconnected to support reliability and resiliency.[6] Microgrids use advanced smart grid
technologies and integrate distributed energy resources.[4] At time, they can be used when there is a
severe outage to offer local regions with reliable power even when a physical or cyber threat occurs.
[4]
Since we already have the technology to build a grid that is more resilient and less of a target for
adversaries, all Americans need to push for this to remain a priority and find ways to support
legislation for a rebuilding of the infrastructure system. With companies such as Intel who are in the
energy and security sectors but also researching artificial intelligence and self automated vehicles and
robots, there is a possibility that a rebuilding of the infrastructure system is plausible. With individuals
boarding millions of dollars into creating smart cities who knows what opportunities can occur. As of

Another option is the issuing of preferred stock, the company s common stock is already overvalued in

proceeds. Common stock: rights offering Golden Gate Aircraft Corporation Issuing additional debt to
finance the company expansion would worsen the company s debt ratio as it is already more than
average. The company envisions to be profitable by raising capital from existing stockholders by
issuing common stock through rights offering. Convertible debentures Teller Pen Corporation The
company s leverage ratio is 28% 72% of its assets are financed by common equity and the company
was profitable in the last reporting period. The company should easily raise additional funds from
creditors and a convertible debenture will be an appealing venture for creditors who would want to
purchase stocks of the company in the future. Factoring Ripe and Fresh Canning Company The

Factoring would provide a short term solution to reduce the gap between average collection and

The Use Of Nigger
The use of the term nigger can be used as a amicable greeting between two blacks, or as a hideous
pejorative (Marriott 94) towards blacks. Marriott notes that the use of nigger is usually condoned and
used by younger blacks as a term of endearment (98), in hopes to gradually alter the meaning of the
word. Their goal is to normalize the usage of nigger between blacks to dull its edge whenever whites
use it (Marriott 95). This has been proved somewhat efficient, as most whites dread the word and
express feelings of disgust whenever it is heard from the mouth of whites. Many younger blacks
believe their efforts are stimulating a progression in society, but older blacks and the majority of
whites assert just the opposite it illustrates anything

installing modern weaving machinery as well as gradually eliminating the pro decentralised sector

The new Textile Policy of 2000 set the ball rolling for policy reforms in the textile sector, dealing with
removal of raw material price distortions, cluster approach for powerlooms, pragmatic exit of idle

Socrates Self Confidence
Socrates was a philosopher in c. 470 BCE c. 399 BCE. He was a pioneer in an education method,
which focused on discovering answers by asking question from his students. Charleston College, 2018
pointed out that Socrates believed that the disciplined practice of thoughtful questioning enable the
student/scholar to examine ideas and be able to determine the validity of those ideas The focus point
of the Socratic Thought, is to challenges student to feel confident and worth of question what is
validated and accepted as norms. One of the strength of Socratic Thought was and as is today, in not
just accepted what is stablished, is to go deeply under the surface and analyzing reasons, consequences
and the impact that those assumption make to group and individuals (Alain de Bottom 2013). Is very
clever the name of the documentary Socrates Self Confidence , and if the name is staking to a more
serious level, anyone that questioning the norms and rule of what is stablished, have to be really

Dramatic Irony In The Cask Of Amontillado
In the Cask of Amontillado a short story by Edgar Allen Poe the protagonist of the story, Montresor, is
a very clever man. For instance, the story is told from Montresor s point of view and it begins with
Montresor talking about how he s going to get revenge on his friend, Fortunato. The thousand injuries
of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge...I
continued, as my wont, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now was at the
thought of his immolation. Here Poe uses dramatic irony to show the readers that Montresor is
devising a plan to get revenge on Fortunato, and Fortunato isn t aware of what Montresor is planning.
Montresor then coincidentally sees Fortunato at Carnival. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Incidentally, most of the story is set in the catacombs (which symbolizes death) of the Montresors. I
drink, he said, to the buried that repose around us. And I to your long life. He again took my arm, and
we proceeded. These vaults, he said, are extensive. The Montresors, I replied, were a great and
numerous family. I forget your code of arms. A huge human foot d or, in a field azure; the foot crushes
a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in the heel. And the motto? Nemo me impune lacessit.
The author uses more irony when Montresor toasts to Fortunato s long life but the readers know
Montresor is going to get revenge on Fortunato, and Montresor does not really mean what he s saying.
Then they discuss the Montresor code of arms and the motto. The motto means Nobody provokes me
with impunity. This tells the readers why Montresor has to get his revenge. In fact, Montresor was
planning on redressing

Sister Carrie Character Analysis
In Sister Carrie, Dreiser uses very detailed descriptions of characters and their appearance. These are
not empty descriptions, each description of the clothes is so convincing that it plays with the readers
senses allowing them to visualize a dynamic cinematic picture (Stankovic 79). For example, Carrie s
total outfit consisted of a small trunk, a cheap imitation alligator skin satchel, a small lunch in a paper
box, and a yellow leather snap purse, containing her ticket, a scrap piece of paper with her sister s
address in Van Buren Street, and four dollars in money (Dreiser 1). Such a description describes a
person who is leaving in a rush with little money and only a scribbled address, but someone who longs
for more, as the imitation alligator skin satchel suggests. She wants to convey a bit of wealth in her
appearance and impression even though the bag is imitation. Each of these men become the lovers of
Carrie in the novel, and she was drawn to each of them by her impressions of their appearance, but
first impressions can be wrong and appearances can be falsely portrayed. Carrie first succumbs to
Drouet, becoming his mistress acting falsely as his wife. She is later drawn to Hurstwood because of
his appearance. When Carrie meets her lover Drouet, and later Hurstwood, she compares them,
measuring their financial situation by looking at their clothes (Stanovic 81). Notice that Carrie
describes Drouet s business look as appealing, but Hurstwood s includes the

The Effects Of Athletic Participation On Academic Performance
The purpose of the literature review was to determined the effects of athletic participation on
academic performance and if there were differences between the male and female athletes of the
Mennonite High School. In order to determine whether participating in sporting events have an impact
on the student s academic performance, the researcher collected existing data during the sport season
period, there the participants assessment grades (AG) were calculated. These scores were compared
with the immediate post season average to see whether there was a significant difference between the
scores received during and after participating in their various sporting activities. There were studies
done that found that the participation of student athletes may not only have positive effects on their
academic achievement but there may also be positive effects in other areas of their adolescent life.
According to the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS), students who became
involved in sports or extracurricular activities promote lifelong lessons in teamwork, self discipline;
facilitate the emotional development of the youths. The National Federation of State High School uses
several sources to support their claim that students who participate in activity programmes have better
academic averages, better attendance records, a lower dropout rate and fewer discipline problems
(NFHS, 2002, p.2). March (1992) found that students who participate in extracurricular

another filmmaker who takes pride in the title of auteur director. His films are a hit all around the

Nolan was first recognized for his offbeat productions like Memento (2000) and is now responsible

Nolan s brainy blockbusters have earned him love not seen since Spielberg (2010). Nolan is very
popular right now among many different types of audiences. The reason for this is because Nolan does
not only provide audiences with big action pictures, but he does so on an intellectual level. A film like
Transformers (Michael Bay, 2007, USA) for example, which is solely about the action, and thus
entertainment, is not considered to be very high in its overall purpose. Nolan s films then stand out

Human Actions In David Suzuki s The Pain Of Animals
Over the past few decades, the impact of human behavior has had a profound effect on the rest of the
world. In David Suzuki s The Pain of Animals , he explores how he came to understand the results of
human actions on other living creatures. Reflecting on his work in genetics, as well as personal
experiences, David argues that humans act as though they are born with an inherent right to exploit
other living organisms as we see fit (Suzuki, 1989). He does this by exploring the emotional toll
humans have on animals and illustrates the effects of their use in research. I believe that animals are
born with an inherent right to life and should be treated with value and respect. On the other hand,
without the study of genes and biomedical research, healthcare would not have the medical
advancements that it has today. Previous laws on the use of animals in research were insufficient in
how researchers ought to treat their test subjects; they merely forbade cruel, deliberate harm from
being inflicted (Gilbert Kaebnick Murray, 2012). With increased ethical policies set in place, and
enforced, animal testing can continue as a beneficial tool in the advancement of healthcare.
Emotional Expressions of Animals
When debating over the ethics of animal testing the first thing to consider is the emotional expressions
of animals, particularly those elicited through human interactions. David s first experience of his
impact on animals was as a young child when he went hunting in

  • 2. The Attitude of a Hacker in Kevin Mitnick s The Art of... Kevin Mitnick, The Condor, The Darkside Hacker, The greatest hacker alive, whatever name he was given that pins him down as a perpetrator of the law, Kevin Mitnick still serves as an educator to enthusiasts in the world of Information Security. He unveils many secrets of the hacker in The Art of Deception. The Art of Intrusion takes a different twist from its predecessor. It looks at the attitude of the hacker and what drives them. Personally the book lacked the full degree of intrusions one is capable of. Looking at the resume Kevin Mitnick has, successful intruder, phenomenal social engineer, most wanted of the law, caught and convicted criminal, security consultant and finally company CEO, one would have expected his personal experiences and intrusions that finally landed him as the greatest hacker ever known by the media. With this the book lacked some sort of uniqueness because it was based on other stories of intrusions. Mitnick took different stories and merged lots of information through them which in turn ended up being more of an introduction course to types of security breaches than an in depth look at how hackers can breach security. This showed some form of incompleteness especially to a technical audience. For the non technical it serves as a good read but not much is learnt and gained by the technical audience so I feel the target audience was blurred out. The stories seemed very fictional which again raised the suspicion of whether they were really true or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Decline Of Human Cultural Diversity Languages are being rapidly lost, at a rate of extinction. Serious concerns over the impending loss of human cultural diversity have caused many organizations to actively start engaging in the upkeep of languages. Early studies have identified areas with a high number of endangered languages, and preformed investigations. What they came across was the population size of the culture, and how vast of an area the language is spoken in, are key factors to the decline of languages. Other factors include; mass genocide, evolution, economics growth or decline, religion, a change in culture can be a partial cause for the endangerment or extinction of a language. The main factor is usually when a more powerful and pronounced language over takes the smaller subdivision languages, somewhat related to what the Lingua franca. An example of this would be in Canada. In parts of Canada such as Quebec the primary language is French, but in other many places in Canada, Toronto, Thunder Bay, Montreal, the primary language is English, so French is become less common throughout the country. The more powerful and know language allows for less language barriers, and allows easier communication. So what does it mean for a language to become endangered? It means extinction may be in the near future. Only a few people still speak the language and when they become deceased the language will soon cease to exist, unless they preserve documents or it continues to get passed on. How many languages ... • 4. Counting on World Domination WORLD DOMINATION Waiting in the dark, waiting for the end. We heard footsteps outside the door, then they stoped. I was clutching my mother and my baby sister in fear. No no no no. Not like this, I thought. Then we heard a man say something in Russian. The door knob turned until the man realized it was locked. He slowly walked away. It was finally safe. Australia was a great place to live until the Russians reunited the Soviet Union. They launched nukes at the USA and then started to take over the rest of Asia. They conquered Asia in less than five months and then moved on to Europe. They had no problem taking over Europe except for Germany who held strong. The SU, Soviet Union, eventually gave up and nuked Germany. The only real problem was when they moved onto Africa. The people of africa had the advantage because the SU wasn t used to the climate. Obviously the SU had to enter Africa from the North, so they went threw the Sahara Desert. The Africans had a defensive line set up in South Sudan and shot down the SU s copters and planes and wiped out the ground forces with mortars. The SU just went around the line and headed into a deathtrap. Most of the ground forces got slaughtered by elephants and lions. They knew they couldn t go on like that and just made a truce with Africa. The reason they didn t nuke Africa was because they ran out of missiles. The SU was too weak to attack South America so the also made a truce with them. After 5 months of recovering they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. San Juan And The Spider Monkeys Analysis One of the greatest single traits shared by men and women who have been successful in business and in pursuit of their life goals is persistence. I like to call that quality stickability, which the great Napoleon Hill, the father of the modern philosophy of success, recognized in these words: One reason why most men seldom accumulate fortunes until they have passed well beyond the 40 year goal post of life is that they must undergo failures and adversities and overcome sufficient obstacles to develop in them sufficient knowledge to accumulate wealth. In other words they must a strong and unmistakable commandment persist in following their dreams, their most cherished ideas through to the end. Of course, exceptions to every rule abound (think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They witnessed fear in the eyes of the creatures as they came closer, but surprisingly enough the spider monkeys didn t let go of the nuts. They were unable to adapt to this strange, unforeseen circumstance. They were unable to change course and elude their human predators. The hunters simply snatched them up and threw them in a cage. San Juan was a hero. He had done something nobody had ever done before. The monkeys could not see a solution beyond their challenge. They simply sat there with their hands stuck in the containers until the hunters captured them. They ended up as captives due to their inability to be flexible and adapt to the situation and paid for it with their lives. Could it be that we are no different than the spider monkey? It s a matter of scale, of course, as most folks would simply let go of the nut. Is it possible that we may be holding onto something that should be let go of? Whether it s a bad relationship, job, guilt, remorse, anger, house, car, or worse. Can it be that over time we too have confused stubbornness and stickabilty and at the end of the day... find ourselves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Osmosis In Potato Lab Report I. Title: The Water Potential of Potato Cells. II. Purpose: The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effect of the change in concentration of sucrose on the rate of osmosis in cylinders of potatoes. This would happen by using similar sizes and lengths of potato cylinders and applying the into different concentrations of sucrose (0,10%,30%, 50%, 70%) in foam cups then measuring the change in mass of the potato cylinders afterwards. Maintaining all variables unchanged such as pH, same size, covered solutions, and a constant temperature. The time taken for all potato cylinders will be 24 hours. III. Introduction: In animal cells, the movement of water into and out of the cell is influenced by the relative concentration of solute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lastly, type of tissue was controlled by using only one type of tissue which is the same potato. The hypothesis is that when cells are put in a solution with a different water potential than inside of them, cells will gain or lose water. • 9. How Motivational Appeal Can Be Using Deceive Others Essay There are many ways motivational appeal can be utilized to deceive others. In the film Promised Land two of the main characters, Sue and Steve, utilize the motivational concept of fear to enact deception. However, Frank Yates (a respected member of the community who opposes the town s acceptance of Global) employs fear and ingratiation to undermine the natural gas company and expose the deception that Global has employed, not only to the town but to Steve Butler as well. This paper will illustrate how fear, warmth, and ingratiation play a vital role in the development and ultimate detection of Global s deception. Steve Butler and Sue Thomason are two sales executive from the natural gas company, Global, they visit the town of Mckinley with the intentions of leasing the town for natural gas drilling; in order to accomplish this Butler and Thomason enact deception to convince the residents of the town that natural gas is their only option. Butler and his partner Sue Thomason make their first pitch to lease land to the Allen family who have two young children. Thomason, a mother of a teenage boy herself, utilizes fear to deceive Mrs. Allen (from whom they are trying to lease land) that the only way Mrs. Allen s young son will have a bright future is if they allow Global to come into their town and lease their land for drilling. While trying to convince the family that leasing their land is the right decision Thomason says to Mrs. Allen, Even before the drilling, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Your back today with your very own host, Sharon Samuel, and today I am joined with the Indigenous rights and cultural experts, Bella Simmons and Sarah Nel. Today on Aboriginal affairs, we will be exploring the representations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the Australian docudrama TV film, Mabo . Released in 2012, Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Blackfella films have created a film that reflects the trials and tribulations Indigenous and torres strait islanders had to face. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perkins represented a strong connection between Mabo and his land. To introduce the film, Perkins used a wide angled photographic image of the mountainous land and the vastness of the sea to capture the beauty of the land as well as Land is Me attitude of the Murray Islanders. To Mabo, the land is not just a territorial piece of physical land but was a place of cultural, spiritual origin and pride. Culture Bella or Sarah :Yes, I completely agree. The producers, Darren Dale and Miranda Dear depict the relationship between the Torres straits and their love towards the land through various film techniques to accentuate cultural difference. The establishing shot at the beginning of the film were flashbacks of Eddie and , his Uncle who acted as his adopted Father, walking along the beach of Murray Island while he spoke to Eddie. Everything here is yours, this is who you are , This statement clearly highlights the Torres Strait Islanders strong connection with the land and sea. To emphasise this statement, Perkins used bird s eye view close up shots to represent how young Eddie was when his father started to ingrain cultural identity to him . While this is happening, Rachel Perkins has chosen cultural indigenous music in the background, to reinforce Mabo s cultural identity in the Meriam people. • 11. Unicorn Tapestry Research Papers The Hunt of the Unicorn (1495 1505), also know as The Unicorn Tapestry, is a series of seven tapestries depicting the hunt, capture, and killing of a unicorn. Because each tapestry is different their size varies, ranging from 368 x 378 cm. to 368 x 261 cm. Through out the series of tapestries, the colors of the tapestry are vivid and rich despite their age. Woven from silk and metallic threads, the colors range from blood red to hunter green to pale blue and ivory. No space is wasted or devoid of embellishment. Vegetation surrounds the figures of animals and humans alike, reaching to the ends of the fabric. No matter the conflicting seasonality of the fruit or flower, every plant and tree is seen at their peek, in full bloom. The men of hunting party are dressed in their finest clothes, perhaps unsuitable for the task at hand. The dogs are shown in vigorous action leaping at or away from the unicorn, and are always seen frozen in a moment of activity. The seven tapestries are displayed in a specific order: The Start of the Hunt, The Unicorn at the Fountain (fig. 1), The Unicorn Tries to Escape, The Unicorn Defends Himself (fig. 2), The Unicorn is Tamed by the Maiden (fig. 3), The Unicorn is Killed and ... The offensive began in the dawn of 26 September 1918 and concluded on 11 November 1918 after forty seven days. The massive and bloody offensive pitted the newly formed American Expeditionary Force (AEF) referred to its allies as the Doughboys led by General John Black Jack Pershing against a heavily fortified German force entrenched between the Meuse River and Argonne Forest located northwest of Verdun in the Alsace Lorraine region. However, the rain presented a greater challenge resulting from flooded trenches and roads, muddy ground that slowed maneuver, and reduced morale and increased in cases of pneumonia due to the wet conditions. The terrain in the Meuse Argonne region in its natural form and after three years of fortification favored the German Army. The battlefield resembled a funnel with the wide end serving as the start point for the AEF to begin its maneuver towards the spout where fortified positions awaited to the north. It naturally afforded the defending Germans clear observation and fields of fire for German machine guns to engage approaching Allied troops. To the western edge of the AEF s front line, the dense Argonne Forest ran generally north northwest while twenty miles to the eastern edge of the front line stood the impassable Meuse River running north to south; both reduced the avenues of approach forcing the AEF to advance towards the seemingly impregnable defense. Key terrain offered a wooded landscape along the hills, ridges, and valleys provided the Germans natural concealment. Obstacles such as streams and low ground ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Loyalty, By George Orwell Loyalty Questioned, and Humanity Revealed Loyalty is a bond a mutual trust, the most personal and sacred bond in human history. You must have loyalty before you can have friendship, or love. Loyalty means someone can count on you, someone can trust you to be there when in need. Loyalty is a major theme of George Orwell s novel 1984. In a totalitarian world where loyalty, love, and any other personal feelings are outlawed by the vicious Party, some are still trying to find the strength to rebel. Winston, a silent rebel of the party, lives in constant fear of being captured and tortured for his suppressed protest. He yearns to live, to feel, and to make love. After he meets a beautiful girl named Julia, who shares his disdain for the Party, he knows she is the key to his dreams. The love story between these two revolves around loyalty and rebellion. This novel focuses on the importance of loyalty, and why it must be suppressed if a totalitarian society is to be achieved. It also focuses on how even the strongest of loyalties can be broken under extreme stress. No loyalty is safe when torture, and constant torment are forced on an individual. This is a heartbreaking and depressing novel that sheds some harsh reality on loyalty and betrayal. The importance of loyalty, and the breaking point of trust are both major themes of the novel 1984. Loyalty is incredibly important to any kind of relationship, and it is of particular importance to Winston and Julia in 1984. The love ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is just one problem the bathrooms they could be changed. There should be no CO ED bathroom, install more showers, give each room their own bathroom, or put locks on the shower. This is a problem for me because I am not used to someone I don t know coming in the bathroom while I m in the shower. I feel uncomfortable knowing that someone else is in there. There should be a change in residence hall bathrooms that make students feel more comfortable and safe while being in the bathroom. As a college student, I feel as if in each dorm room should consist of a bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet. Each dorm should have their own bathroom because it would be more sanitary than sharing a bathroom with 10 or more people every day. Schools should extend dorm rooms by taking out the public bathrooms that way they can expand the rooms to fit the bathrooms. It would also be more convenient to students because they wouldn t have to rush to be the first one in the shower in the morning it would be right there in the room. You also won t have to worry about dirty showers or hair stuck in the drains. To get this put into place students could start a petition for this to happen and if we have enough hopefully the school will take it into consideration. This would be the best solution because students would feel more comfortable using a bathroom in their room it could make ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All of the events that occurred in the book represent actual events that happened to a communist country, now known as Russia. Both communism and socialism have similar beliefs but still have their differences. There has never been a communist society where people were happy and treated as equals to high ranking government officials. There has been a time in Animal Farm when all animals were treated equal, but that was only in the start of the post revolution. In the end of the book however, there is a different story. The pigs were without a doubt the leaders of Animal Farm. They could do anything to you, they could make you live and could make you die. The socialist system is that the production and distribution of products is maintained by the community. In Animal Farm , the animals were put in even more smaller communities by species. There was groups made during the early post revolution like the Egg Production Committee, the Clean Tails League and the Whiter Wool Movement. Also all political actions are done by the community. There was the Meeting every Sunday where all the animals met in the barn. What they did in the barn was they planned what to do next week and also debate resolutions. The resolutions were put by pigs who were the only ones with the ability to make them. Soon Napoleon and Snowball were debating against each other and were trying to get majority for themselves. All the other animals couldn amp;#8217;t think up of anything for themselves but both of the pigs were throwing many at them. Excessive hunting and land development, as well as unemployment, all remain growing concerns for this struggling country. Jan Hendrik, a South African who made contact with us, stated, South Africa has lots of social and economic problems because most people are poor. To get them to middle class requires the economy to grow through mines and the expansion of living areas (Hendrik). The growth of South Africa s economy often occurs at nature s expense. In order to effectively combat these issues, leaders must implement new courses of action that involve fundraising and awareness through the use of rhetorical sensitivity. According to Lloyd F. Bitzer, associate professor of speech at the University of Wisconsin, a rhetorical situation arises when a circumstance requires the attention of an audience. The audience must overcome obstacles to achieve a certain goal set forth by the leader utilizing rhetorical discourse (Bitzer 9). Fundraising provides one way for South African eco tourism companies to maintain their business and promote more jobs for local people. In order for fundraising to yield the best results, leaders must be aware that there is no reason to apologize for asking for a gift to a worthwhile cause (Rosso 6). Essentially, leaders must have confidence in their cause, whether it includes the preservation of South Africa s wildlife, the protection of its animals, or the promotion of employment among members of the community. This positive attitude encourages tourists to donate more money or time to the companies, aiding in achieving the goal s fulfillment. Rhetorically sensitive fund raisers may present the exigence and constraints to their audience. • 21. Discrimination Is A Problem Since The Beginning Of Time Discrimination has been a problem since the beginning of time. Discrimination is mentioned in many pieces of classical literature such as Shakespeare s Othello. In this classical play the main character Othello is never truly accepted into the Venetian society because he is a Moor from Northern Africa. His skin color caused people to view him differently and also presented problems when he tried to find a wife. After he eventually found and married Desdemona her father Brabantio still did not approve of him; he said She, in spite of nature, Of years, of country, credit, everything, To fall in love with what she feared to look on! It is a judgment maimed and most imperfect That will confess perfection so could err Against all rules of nature (Act I, Scene 3). Brabantio saw this love as unnatural because he believes Desdemona would never fall in love with a black man who she was afraid to look upon. Before Othello married Desdemona Brabantio saw him as an honorable leader and great man, but after their marriage he accuses him of black magic and urges their marriage to be annulled by the Duke. This discrimination led to Othello s doubt and self conscience attitude which, ultimately leads to his demise at the end of the play. Discrimination continues to exist today as it did 400 years ago in Shakespeare s time. Today people are still discriminated against and persecuted because of their race or their religious views. • 22. Aphrodite Remedies Now that we have looked at the symptoms, remedies, and agencies of Ἔρως, we ought to find a decent definition of what Ἔρως is based on The Symposium. I think a helpful method of trying to find the definition of Ἔρως is to look at the agencies, symptoms, and remedies. As shown earlier, we can say that the agent of Ἔρως is Aphrodite. Aphrodite is the goddess of love. This being the case, we can say that Ἔρως is either love, or a form of love. In order to see whether or not it is love or a form of love, we must look at the symptoms. The symptoms as stated earlier of Ἔρως are courage, desire, and being a pursuer. It seems that although these three symptoms are different, they all tend to be similar to the idea of desire. This is shown because all people do things in order to achieve an apparent good (which may or may not be good in reality.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From this then, we can say that Ἔρως produces desire in people. Finally, we will analyze the remedies of Ἔρως. It has been stated earlier that the remedy of Ἔρως is to fulfill one s desires. The fulfillment of one s desires seems to be a plausible remedy for Ἔρως because a symptom of Ἔρως is desire. We say we know a thing based off of it s function. For example, we say that an axe is an axe if it can cut down a tree by swinging, or a chair is a thing we sit on. If we change the function of a thing, then we also change what the thing is. (If I sit on a table, I would argue that the table becomes a chair, since it is serving the purpose of a chair.) For the case of Ἔρως, it seems that the function of Ἔρως is desire. After she identified key words, she felt that this poem is trying to reinforce the importance of being kind to others and treating them as God would. Mercy, Pity Peace and Love are being reinforced as necessary human qualities. She looked up the literal meanings of the key words, wrote them down, and added comments next to the definitions. After defining and commenting on these key words, her opinion differed. I am able now to see the correlation between the title the Divine Image and the song itself. The divine image is expressed in its human form through the actions and feelings of Mercy, Pity, Peace and Love. The Divine Image is referring to God, humans can be Godlike by performing these four feelings and actions. She now felt that humans were considered Divine only if they use Mercy, Pity, Peace and Love. For example, Carrie s total outfit consisted of a small trunk, a cheap imitation alligator skin satchel, a small lunch in a paper box, and a yellow leather snap purse, containing her ticket, a scrap piece of paper with her sister s address in Van Buren Street, and four dollars in money (Dreiser 1). Such a description describes a person who is leaving in a rush with little money and only a scribbled address, but someone who longs for more, as the imitation alligator skin satchel suggests. She wants to convey a bit of wealth in her appearance and impression even though the bag is imitation. Each of these men become the lovers of Carrie in the novel, and she was drawn to each of them by her impressions of their appearance, but first impressions can be wrong and appearances can be falsely portrayed. Carrie first succumbs to Drouet, becoming his mistress acting falsely as his wife. She is later drawn to Hurstwood because of his appearance. When Carrie meets her lover Drouet, and later Hurstwood, she compares them, measuring their financial situation by looking at their clothes (Stanovic 81). Notice that Carrie describes Drouet s business look as appealing, but Hurstwood s includes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Effects Of Athletic Participation On Academic Performance The purpose of the literature review was to determined the effects of athletic participation on academic performance and if there were differences between the male and female athletes of the Mennonite High School. In order to determine whether participating in sporting events have an impact on the student s academic performance, the researcher collected existing data during the sport season period, there the participants assessment grades (AG) were calculated. These scores were compared with the immediate post season average to see whether there was a significant difference between the scores received during and after participating in their various sporting activities. There were studies done that found that the participation of student athletes may not only have positive effects on their academic achievement but there may also be positive effects in other areas of their adolescent life. According to the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS), students who became involved in sports or extracurricular activities promote lifelong lessons in teamwork, self discipline; facilitate the emotional development of the youths. The National Federation of State High School uses several sources to support their claim that students who participate in activity programmes have better academic averages, better attendance records, a lower dropout rate and fewer discipline problems (NFHS, 2002, p.2). Nolan is very popular right now among many different types of audiences. The reason for this is because Nolan does not only provide audiences with big action pictures, but he does so on an intellectual level. A film like Transformers (Michael Bay, 2007, USA) for example, which is solely about the action, and thus entertainment, is not considered to be very high in its overall purpose. Nolan s films then stand out and he is able to keep audiences engaged in his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Human Actions In David Suzuki s The Pain Of Animals Over the past few decades, the impact of human behavior has had a profound effect on the rest of the world. In David Suzuki s The Pain of Animals , he explores how he came to understand the results of human actions on other living creatures. Reflecting on his work in genetics, as well as personal experiences, David argues that humans act as though they are born with an inherent right to exploit other living organisms as we see fit (Suzuki, 1989). He does this by exploring the emotional toll humans have on animals and illustrates the effects of their use in research. I believe that animals are born with an inherent right to life and should be treated with value and respect. On the other hand, without the study of genes and biomedical research, healthcare would not have the medical advancements that it has today. Previous laws on the use of animals in research were insufficient in how researchers ought to treat their test subjects; they merely forbade cruel, deliberate harm from being inflicted (Gilbert Kaebnick Murray, 2012). With increased ethical policies set in place, and enforced, animal testing can continue as a beneficial tool in the advancement of healthcare. Emotional Expressions of Animals When debating over the ethics of animal testing the first thing to consider is the emotional expressions of animals, particularly those elicited through human interactions. David s first experience of his impact on animals was as a young child when he went hunting in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
