Waste and Pollution
Waste
Nearly everything we do leaves behind some kind of waste. Households create ordinary garbage,
while industrial and manufacturing processes create solid and hazardous wastes.
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) more commonly known as trash or garbage consists of everyday items
we use and then throw away, such as product packaging, grass clippings, furniture, clothing, bottles,
food scraps, newspapers, appliances, paint, and batteries. This comes from our homes, schools,
hospitals, and businesses.
Each year EPA produces a report on MSW generation, recycling and disposal. In 2010, Americans
produced about 250 million tons of MSW, or about 4.3 pounds of waste per person per day.
EPA encourages practices that reduce the amount of waste ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consider the problems which may arise if zoning/zoning change is required. Do not locate in a 100
year flood plain. After finding a number of sites which meet the necessary criteria, submit a letter with
the legal descriptions of the properties being considered, so the North Dakota Department of Health,
North Dakota Geological Survey, and the North Dakota State Water Commission can evaluate the sites
with respect to topography and relief. No soil borings should be made until the Department has
determined if the proposed site is acceptable with respect to topography and relief (this will save time
and money). The Department will also determine at that time the compliance of the site location with
state and federal laws (i.e., landfills must be one mile from an airport [airstrip] in which propeller
driven aircraft operate two miles for jet aircraft). No landfills will be sited in areas that may adversely
affect endangered and threatened species or critical habitat. A good working knowledge of the North
Dakota Solid Waste Management Rules is needed so sites which obviously do not meet the rules can

Theme Of Babylon Revisited
F. Scott Fitzgerald s short story Babylon Revisited, (rpt. in Greg Johnson and Thomas R. Arp, Perrine
s Literature: Structure, Sound, and Sense, 12th ed. [Boston: Wadsworth, 2015] 199 216) begins in
Paris at Ritz Bar when a character named Charlie Wales is introduced. Charlie Wales, is described as a
renewed father who tries to regain custody of his daughter Honoria after his previous life of drinking
and recklessness. Charlie s old life of drinking and partying caused him to partake in numerous
regretful activities, resulting in the death of his own wife, Helen. Due to Charlie s actions, Honoria
was put in guardianship with Helen s sister, Marion. While Charlie claims to be over with his old
habits, Marion questions if he actually is. F. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the 1920s, many partied and drinked in a fast paced lifestyle which can be related to Charlie s
original lifestyle. Later, during the 1920s, the stock market crash occurred, causing many to suffer
with insufficient funds. The stock market crash also correlates to Charlie and his luck with the stock
market, however, later losing all of his money. The Great Depression lasted from 1929 to 1939, and
was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world. . .when the Great
Depression reached its lowest point, some 15 million Americans were unemployed and nearly half the
country s banks had failed (History.com Staff, 2009). Another real world event is the Great
Depression, caused by the stock market crash. At the time of the Great Depression, Americans lost
everything, whether it was money, a house, cars, or beds, and were left with a low budget for food and
clothes. Readers can infer, the author s attempt to display the typical behaviors during his time period
in America and its relation to Charlie s. The Ritz Bar is another element in the author s message to the
readers. The Ritz Bar is an actual location in Paris, France, designated as a luxurious area for high
class people. The term still holds its place in common parlance, and American dictionaries define it as
luxurious, fashionable, elegant (The Ritz Bar, 2018). The bar s

‘DEBATE WHETHER GALTUNG AND RUGE S (1967) MODEL OF THE NEWS VALUE IS
STILL RELEVANT IN AN AGE OF NEW MEDIA, CITIZEN JOURNALISM AND USER
GENERATED CONTENT.
The media in Western society provides a ‘fourth estate that alleges a neutral, objective and balanced
perspective, independent of political input. The news forms the basis of this ‘fourth estate , playing
an important role in keeping the public informed and therefore promoting democracy (Marris and
Thornham, 1996).
Daily there are millions of possible news headlines of which, only a small sample are published
(Harcup and O Neill, 2001). Journalists appear to have an unvoiced compilation of guidelines or news
values passed down through education as well as industry experience, which ... Show more content on

It is this judgement and the reasons behind it, which was studied by Galtung and Ruge and so it is
arguable that their theory is still highly relevant.
However, it is undeniable that since the production of Galtung and Ruge s paper in 1967, journalism
has frequently been reported to be suffering a significant deterioration (Ursell, 2001) in terms of
quality and production. This view is reinforced by Franklin (1997) whose study discovered a
movement from traditional news such as politics written to inform, towards news written with the
purpose of entertainment. Franklin s findings support his suggestion that broadsheet newspapers have
an increasingly tabloid agenda, which may be a result of user generated content being used to inform
journalists what the readership wish to read about. E.g. coverage about celebrities instead of politics
(Franklin, 1997 cited in Ursell, 2001). Using Galtung and Ruge s news values, this particular example
would fall under the category of ‘Elite People (see AX p. 10) yet the coverage of celebrities although
prominent in today s society, was not the intended news story that this category was created for. This
emphasises that while the categories may be broadly

Representatives of 50 nations met in San Francisco in April through June 1945 to complete the
Charter of the United Nations.
(Messerli,Joe. 2017) The Roosevelt Administration strove at their best and strongest ability to avoid
the mistakes Woodrow Wilson made in the failure of the League of Nations and as well as selling the
League of Nations to the Senate of the United States Of America. This oddly sought bicameral support
from the Republican Party ( Roosevelt s Administration was purely Democrat ) and the Republican
Party endorsed the United States participation in a postwar international organization, in which
Congress overwhelmingly endorsed participation, with a 77% approval rate from Congress itself.
Roosevelt as well sought to convince the public that an international organization was needed and it
would be the best interest to prevent future conflicts in the future. The Senate approved the UN
Charter on July 28, 1945, by a vote of 89 to 2. The United Nations came into existence on October
24,1945, after 29 Nations had ratified the Charter.
The United Nations started on a steep downward trajectory from the high expectations that surrounded
it at its birth. The global security organization envisaged in the Charter of the United Nations, based
on a perpetuation of the victorious alliance against Nazi Germany, was stillborn because of the rapidly
developing rift between the Soviet Union and its Western allies. The

The Western Media Democratic Promotion Against The East
The 2010 airing of the Nobel Peace Prize awards ceremony was met with controversy from numerous
ends of the world, as its recipient was the jailed Chinese activist Liu Xiaobo. It has been argued by the
Chinese government and outlets that this event is a product of the media and by doing so critiques the
broadcast as a representation of western imperialism and as such highlights the limits of the liberal
political press model. The communist party ran newspaper Global Times attacked the broadcast as a
political tool of Western interests , and whether agreeing or not with this accusation, it is easy to
understand why such a conclusion can be made. This case can be analysed in some ways as a case of
the western media democratic promotion against the east.
The idea of democratic supremacy can be argued thoroughly when deliberated through a political
ideological perspective. The Nobel committee noted that the Chinese government had labelled Liu
Xaiobo as a criminal and saw his prize as provocative to their judgment and rule. Though the program
places itself in direct opposition to this, with Thorbjørn Jagland stating in his speech that it is one of
the most important decision in the peace prizes history . He labels the Chinese punishment of Liu as
severe and calls Liu the central spokesman for human rights and an international symbol for the
struggle against China. This can in turn be viewed as a critique of the other and a direct promotion of
the western model of

Decentralized Organizations And Its Impact On...
While organizations once typically held centralized structures, the more recent trend is toward
decentralization. Centralization is the extent that and organization s decision making is made at a
single point or by a single person. In centralized organizations, top managers make all of the
decisions, while lower level managers and employees follow their instructions. In decentralized
organizations, decision making is delegated to work groups or the managers who are closest to the
organization s day to day actions. Centralization affects employee/manager relationships by providing
a more stable environment and clarity regarding whom to go to for directions, while decentralization
allows employees to feel less isolated from decision makers and have more autonomy. In terms of its
impact on organizational strategies, decentralization allows for problems to be solved more quickly by
those who have more direct knowledge about the specific customer base, while centralization lets
companies avoid bad choices and maintain a stable environment.
Centralization affects employee/manager relationships by providing clarity about the relationship.
Because it is so structured, it provides a more stable environment with a clear hierarchy. As a result,
centralization provides an unambiguous relationship between managers and their employees. In
centralized organizations, there is no confusion about who to report to or whose instructions to follow.

Persuasive Essay On Chimney Cleaning
All across Johannesburg and Pretoria, majority of homeowners depend on the heat from fireplaces to
keep their family warm during the winter season. As such, it is very important to keep the fireplace
working optimally by ensuring you have a clean chimney. Regrettably, if you do not have your
chimney cleaned it can lead to many major issues. Majority of these issues can be avoided by simply
scheduling a periodic chimney cleaning with a professional. By having your chimney cleaned, you
give it adequate air combustion, thereby resulting to clean burning fire.
How To Tell If You Need a Chimney Cleaning
The main purpose of a chimney is to allow smoke and carbon monoxide to exit your home. This will
allow you to delight in the benefits of a fire with neither of the risks. While many chimney sweeps
recommend that you have your chimney cleaned at least once in a year, sometimes it may need more
than that.
Factors like type of wood burned and how regularly you use your fireplace play a role in determining
how often your chimney should be cleaned. But that s not all, there are also some tell tale signs that let
you know when your chimney needs a cleaning. They include:
*Too much smoke filling the room once the fire is lit.
*Bad odors or a rush of cold air emitting from your chimney when you are not using your fireplace or
stove.
*Your fire not burning brightly as usual or the fire starting very slowly.
*If your chimney is filled with nests, leaves, small animals and other debris.

Participatory Sensing And The New Era Of Technology
After reading and gathering information about this article participatory sensing, my first initial thought
was what is participatory sensing? Participatory sensing is an approach to data collection and
interpretation in which individuals, acting alone or in groups, use their personal mobile devices and
web services to systematically explore interesting aspects of their worlds ranging from health to
culture. There are many authentic forms of participatory sensing, but one in particular is the article
written by Katie Shilton. As Shilton expresses the use of participatory sensing through forms of
privacy, mobile phone, and ubiquitous data collection. Based on these forms of technology about
participatory sensing, how would it improve our lives and our communities, but at what cost, we are
willing to have our privacy be out there in many databases? As we move into the new era of
technology, the thought of our personal information being place into database collection have many
concerns, but few are left untold about the truth of their information. The database is derive from
many information like mobile phone as they are used to analyze the research behind the use of mobile
phones communication. The use of mobile phones is used to collect data for personal or social projects
for the mobile and urban coverage. Moreover, Participatory sensing is meant to enable and encourage
anyone to gather and investigate previously invisible data. An example, through the mobile phone
database,

The Moral Principle Of Mortality
In regards to the Principle of Mortality A reasonable moral principle, whether applied to acts or rules.
How our behavior affects should be of moral concern to us. Moreover, we want our moral rules to
make our society a good society, and it is hard to argue against the claim that a happy society is better
than unhappy society . Society often governs that way think by categorizing us with race, religion,
ethnicity, but most importantly gender always separating us all in some way. Society is controlling the
way we think not necessary are actions, they control the way we think in such a way we don t even
know we re being controlled. By rewarding us when we conform to the rules, and penalizing us when
we don t conform. Not allowing transgender students the right to facilitate locker rooms that
correspond to their inner gender identity is pure discrimination. if we aren t accepting and keeping are
transgender students safe by accepting who they truly are by allowing them to access bathrooms
neither will engender students how they gonna accept them if we aren t setting a good examples
school should be a place to learn about all types of things and make everyone feel comfortable and

The Events That Helped Build Spain s Foundation After The...
There were many important people and events that helped build Spain s foundation after the Spanish
Civil War. One of the people I m going to write about is Juan Carlos I, an event that I m going to write
about is the Olympic games in Barcelona in 1992, and last is the education in Spain. Spain has come a
long way since the Spanish Civil War and today is one of the more beautiful tourist spots for people
around the world. Spain is the second largest country in the EU, from the beautiful Spanish language
they speak, to the amazing cultural foods. Spain has become an amazing country and the history to
how they got here was hard fought. First, Juan Carlos I has played a pivotal role in the transformation
of Spain from an arguably state of repression into what it has become today: a thriving vibrant
democracy (Afzali 3). Juan Carlos I s full name was Juan Carlos Alfoso Victor Maria de Borbon y
Borbon Dos Sicilias. He was born January 5, 1938 in Rome. His grandfather is Alfonso XIII had a
blood line that produced kings of France since Henri IV so Juan Carlos I was pretty much destined to
be a king because it ran in the family. Another important person that played a big role in the
transformation of Spain is Francisco Franco. Francisco Franco was interested in young Juan Carlos.
He decided to move Juan Carlos to Spain to receive a pro Franco education. Once Juan Carlos
received his bachelor s degree he got military training at the Zargosa General Military Academy from

Though the poetry in this unit differs in subject and tone, all the poems are connected by the way the
authors have tried to express their thoughts. Each poet utilizes tone, rhythm, meter, etc. to turn an
event or feeling into a poem. All the poems are based on strong emotions that the author uses
symbolism and metaphors to express. In some cases, such as the Ballad of Birmingham, the author has
chosen to write about an event that they may not have personally experienced. However, the event is
often still relevant to the author s life. Dudley Randall was an African American man who wrote the
Ballad of Birmingham during the civil rights era. Though Randall did not personally experience the

Carrie is a story about a girl who has never fit in at school. All the other kids were always mean to her.
They ether never thought of her feelings, or didn t care. One day, in the girls locker room, the teasing
got out of hand. This time, a teacher caught them. This time, revenge was in order. At least, that s what
Chris Hargensen thought. The punishment for their crime, no prom. Chris wasn t going down without
a fight, but she sure went down. When a vicious prank is pulled on Carrie at the dance, she snaps and
unleashes he telegenic power on all the kids, teachers, parents, and the rest of the town. The town will
burn with Carrie s revenge, but will she burn with it?
Carrie White Carrie is the main character (you can tell by the title), but I would also say she is
partially the antagonist. Her mother raised her to be very religious and told her almost everything she
did was a sin. When Carrie wasn t like the other kids, they made fun of her. When they would make
fun of her, she got mad. And when she got mad, bad things happened. Carrie learned she had
telekinesis. The older she got the more interested she became in her power, so she learned to control it.
But a horribly treated girl and a dangerous power don t mix.
Sue Snell Susan Snell is the perfect girl every parent wants as their daughter. Good grades, nice to
everyone at school, and very pretty and popular. But when the teasing broke out in the locker room
she joined in.

Wozniak s spare time, it eventually developed into the first product of Apple Personal Computers Inc.,
launching in 1976. It a utilized a 6502 processor: a clone of the 6800 by MOS Technologies, soon to

In 1974, Federico Faggin a member of the team that had worked on the original Intel 4004 MPU left

Analysis Of Doubt By John Patrick Shanley
Have you ever had a feeling of doubt? In the play Doubt by John Patrick Shanley the reader is left
with a lot of doubt because Father Flynn, one of the main characters, is being persecuted for sexually
harassing a young boy in his class. In this play a pastor by the name of Father Flynn is being
investigated because Sister Aloysius is suspicious that he has been sexually harassing a young boy by
the name of Donald in their school. Based on the evidence in Patrick Shanley s play, Doubt: A Parable,
I conclude that Father Flynn is not guilty, because Sister A does not like Flynn and Sister A doubts all
of her wrong doings after all of this commotion. There are also a lot of small reasons why he should
be not guilty. The first reason why I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Sister A is talking to Sister James she ends the conversations by saying, I have doubts! I have
such doubts! (Shanley 58). During this conversation with Sister James, Sister A explains how she has
many doubts with this situation with Flynn and how he has left the school. This is important because
this has more evidence to why I think Flynn is innocent. Sister A explain show she has many doubts
after this situation has gone through. A sub point to this argument is that Sister A explains that she lied
about making a phone call to the previous church Flynn went to: I was Lying. I made no such call
(Shanley 58). Sister James had thought that Flynn left because Sister A made a phone call that
explained that Flynn had a bad history at previous churches. This is an example of why Flynn is
innocent because Sister A had lied about the phone call she made, so there was no true evidence that
Flynn did anything bad a previous churches. With these two context clues you can conclude that Flynn
should be innocent because there is no clear evidence as to why he should be guilty. On the other hand
others may argue that Flynn is guilty because he had a private discussion with Donald who was a
student in the class. When Donald came back to class, he was acting strangely and he had alcohol
under his breath: The boy acted strangely when he returned to class...there was alcohol under his

Marx s Theory On Class Conflict And Society Essay
Since the french and industrial revolution in 18 century, the world had come to a new era: capitalist
society. Capitalism represents a big step forward in human productive abilities compared with
previous forms of society. Along with the social development, there was a new group of people who
was called the sociologist who analyze and try to understand how this society works. Marx was one of
them and his ideas were influential. His theory mostly emphasis on class conflict and the society from
economic aspects. This essay will first analyze Marx s theory in detail. Then I will explain how
economy and social conflict related to Marx s theory along with the role of these factors in the
capitalist society.
Marx defined social class as the class which sets the scene and moves things forward. He sometimes
talked about there are only two classes: Bourgeoisie and proletariat, the class in itself and the class for
itself, sometimes talked about there are many numbers of classes such as capitalist, working class and
landowner. There is no simple unambiguous, and universally accepted body of Marxist doctrine. As
Bob Jessop said, the thoughts of Marx in his life time were various and far ranging. In general, Marx
refers bourgeoisies as capitalists and they are major class in that period leading into industrialization.
And he thinks the petty bourgeoisie as middle classes who cannot see themselves as part of class, only
as individual. The last one, the proletariat, was described by

Compare And Contrast Utopia And Dystopia

life that is free from disasters. This word Utopia is derived from Greek roots by Sir Thomas More
which means a good place (More 37). Merriam Webster defined Utopia as an imaginary place, all life
aspects are perfect, as the world suffers from nothing (Webster 19). while Dystopia is defined as an
imagined universe in which the unequal society controls the fancy of an ideal society which are

W. E. B. Dubois Dark Princess
People, no matter their race or color, have always wanted to be successful, live comfortably, and
provide for their families. While the definitions for success and comfort have changed over time, a
constant truth is that hard work and sacrifice are required to reach these goals. Moving from an
individual to the societal or political level, for many races and nations, progress can measure success.
Ethnic groups want progress towards equality, while nations, particularly those in Asia, Africa, and the
Middle East, want progress towards economic and industrial progress towards leveling with the West;
they also wish for political respect and autonomy. Since the end of the colonial era, there has been a
massive struggle by previously colonized nations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examining W.E.B. Dubois novel Dark Princess, the characters of Sammy Scott and Sara Andrews
exemplify individualism completely. The honorable Sammy Scott was a leading black politician in
Chicago. Dubois described Sammy s beginnings: ...in 1910 by selling the right to gamble, keep houses
of prostitution, and commit petty theft, to certain men, white and black, who paid him in cash (Dubois,
pg. 82). Sammy is completely corrupt, wanting power and money for himself. He misses his
opportunity as a politician to help his district, make positive changes that could improve the lives of
the black people all around him. Instead he chooses to be a gangster, promoting gambling and
prostitution, and maintaining a criminal undertone in Chicago. Sara Andrews was equally calculating.
Dubois describes Sara on page 84 as having a good intellect without moral scruples and a clear idea of
the communal and social value of virginity, respectability, and good clothes . Dubois is saying she is
cunning, and in tune with what is expected in society. She knows what she needs to do to be
successful, and like Sammy, she wants all of the power for herself. Sammy and Sara both lived a dog
eat dog existence, and were willing to sacrifice others on their way to the top. It is important to note
that Dubois recognized individualism as a major obstacle for racial progress, and Sammy and Sara
demonstrated the issues stemming from individualism in Dark Princess. Unfortunately, others failed to
capitalize on Dubois foresight. Today there is an equal lack of cohesiveness amongst African
Americans, due to varying socioeconomic levels. At the time of civil rights, a black middle class was
able to forge ahead and have success. This professional level is still here today, but what also exists
today is the bottom of

Comparing Hinduism And Shintoism
Hinduism, Buddhism, and Shintoism
Both Hinduism and Buddhism originated in India. Hinduism originated first when around 1500 B.C
the Indian civilization was overtaken by an invasion of pastoral nomads from around the Caspian Sea,
north of Persia. These nomads continued to invade the region over several hundred years, conquering
and settling among the native people. As a result of the clashes between these two cultures Hinduism
emerged as a result of the fusion of the beliefs that the native people of India and the new arrivals had.
Hindu priests created a caste system to deal with the problems caused by racial tensions between the
new arrivals and the native Indians. The caste system divided the population into groups in which
highest caste were the Hindu priests, who were followed by the warriors, the farmers and merchants,
the servants and laborers, and ultimately the lowest caste were the war captives and slaves.
The first encounter between Hinduism and Buddhism occurred consequently when Buddhism was
created, since a Hindu prince named Siddhartha Gautama (also known as Buddha or The enlightened )
created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first conflict in which there was significant violence occurred in the third century B.C. when the
Mauryan emperor Ashoka embraced Buddhism and banned animal sacrifices. This action angered
many Hindus who in return persecuted Buddhists after the Mauryan Empire fell. After these events the
relationship between Hindus and Buddhists became very hostile until finally in the 13th century
Buddhism became extinct in India, however, Buddhism kept spreading in Asia. Another more recent
conflict between Buddhists and Hindus can be appreciated in Sri Lanka. This conflict was a civil war
between the Sinhalese (which are mostly Buddhist) and the Tamil (which are mostly Hindus) that
started on 1984 and ended in

Why Did Giuliani Happen
As Giuliani was walking the streets he wanted to get in touch with the news to give out a statement
regarding the terrorist attack. He went to a fire station that was locked and had to break in using a
piece of wire that one of his aides had. From then, him and his aides were on the phones with their
loved ones and were talking about their emergency plans, when three other people walked in the
station. They told them that two of the most experienced firemen had been killed when the buildings
collapsed. As soon as he was told this, they established communication with the news via telephone,
two hours after the first tower was hit. He started his speech by telling everyone to stay calm, to
evacuate lower Manhattan, and that they have been in

Natural Selection Vs Artificial Selection
The Darwinian view of life came into focus in 1859, when he published one of the most important
books called On the Origin of Species by Mean of Natural Selection . Back in Darwin s time in the
19th century historians were being to think of evolutionary change as an explanation for patterns
observed in the future. He did not invent this idea however he carried out the necessary research to
document the idea. He made this book to make two valid points, descent and modification and process
natural selection . Descent and modification described the evidence and support that he gathered about
species. It is an insightful phrase, as it captures the duality of life s unity (descent) and diversity
(modification). Simon, Eric J., Jane Reece, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, natural selection is the process in nature by which organisms better adapted to their
environment tend to survive and reproduce more. A good example would be a tree frog, they are
sometimes eaten by snakes.Gray Tree frogs bend well in the darker wooden areas, as for green Tree
frogs blend better with the greens. If a green tree frog is on a barks its easier for a predator to find than
compared to a green tree frog on a green leaf. Green tree frogs that go into habitats where they are not
camouflaged are most likely going to eaten by they re predators, which in conclusion tree frogs that
have been eaten by they re predators do not have the chance to have more babies. Animals and plants

Selfishness By Lisa Firestone, Ph. D.
Selfish: lacking consideration for others, concerned chiefly with one s own personal profit or pleasure.
Ever since a friend of mine contacted me about a problem she was facing I ve felt so amazed of how
words can affect one another. She was going through some things and didn t know how to express
them to me because of personal reasons, but it didn t stop her from getting help from me. It wasn t
about if I knew what the problem was, it was about problem solving and helping someone who in need
and she needed help on how to approach certain things and the manner you should approach it in. I
was more then welcome to help her overcome these flaws and I spoke with her until I broke down

People s actions don t come out of nowhere, there is something that strives them to act or behave the
way they do. We must have a healthy psychological well being to create healthy friendships and
relationships with society, according to HelpGuide.org. What I think their trying to imply here is that
people should take care of their mental and emotional well being to create more positivity all around
them, whether it s for friends, family, or an outsider. When we as a society achieved this goal, we
wouldn t think helping others as being selfish. This is because everyone would have that identical
mentality within them to spread positivity and when they all do that, it makes it easier to claim that
someone committed an act of kindness toward someone because they cared about the effect it would
have on the victim rather than the joy you feel after helping

A Summary Of Data Analysis
There are numerous ways to represent this data visually and numerically, the first graph I did was the
stem and leaf plot where you can see the frequency much clearer since the original data numbers are
shown as in compare like a histogram where the frequency is easy to see, the original data points have
been lost. For an example the grades, there are 13 values that were in the seventies, but is hard to
determine from the histogram what those values might have been. In the stem and leaf plot shows the
original values way easier, which is perfect to show to younger students because the horizontal leaves
in the stem and leaf plot is the same to the vertical bars in the histogram, and the leaves have the
heights that equal the numbers in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the box and whisker, the median is 78, almost 80, and that fifty percent of the students scored
between 67 and 86 points, and seeing the plot is skewed to the left means that there are more values in
the highs rather the lower numbers. The histogram and stem and leaf plot also shows how students
passed the test by seeing the median and mode on the graph.
The assigning of the scores I decided to have five letter grades which were, A, B, C, D, and F. Letter
grade A is 90 100, B is 80 89, C is 70 79, D is 60 69, and F is 59 0. The reason I chose this grade
assignment is because I wanted to know how many students have passed the exam beyond average or
below. The average is a 70 79 and having five categories can show which students actually know the
subject or need to work on it, whether over the average or under the average.
Describing the middle of the data is that the central tendency by using the mean, median, or mode.
The mean gives us the average, the median gives us which is the number in the middle of the set,
while mode show us the most frequently occurring value in a data set. The box and whisker and
histogram, it s better to use the median to describe the middle because since the mean is less than the
median, that s why it s skewed because the high scores influence the direction of the graph. In this
case, the median may be a better option to represent the typical grade on the test.
To describe the overall

Importance Of Erformance Tuning And Partitioning
erformance tuning and partitioning go hand in hand, in that partitioning is one you can take to tune
performance from a database level, so I will start out with explaining tuning and then go into detail
about partitioning.
Performance tuning can take place from a DBA perspective, at the full database level, or from a
Developer perspective, on the level of individual packages/procedures/functions and SQL queries.
Before initiating performance tuning, you need to know where your performance bottlenecks are.
There are a number of ways a DBA can determine where the bottlenecks are, including AWR reports,
which can show the DBA what areas show the highest wait times. Once the specific SQL statements
or PL/SQL code has been targeted, we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once a table is partitioned, it is easier and faster to access the data in the table, because a query can
access just one or a group of partitions on the table, rather than accessing all of the data in the parent
table. You can even specify a partition to use in your query. Queries can also work in parallel on the
table, running through multiple partitions at once, which is especially helpful if you find you can t
avoid a full table scan. So, even if your partitions aren t set up logically to your query, there is a
performance improvement to partitioning. There are several options for the type of partitioning you
can do. One common method is to partition by a range of data, for instance a date range. This is
helpful if your table has a lot of historical data, and only the newest data is normally accessed or
updated, rather than accessing ALL of the historical data, you can access just the latest data. It s
possible, on the other hand, that your table is usually accessed by a column with distinct values, such
as a department id, in which case it might be better to use list partitioning, or you could have a
composite partition, such as a range list partition, such as organizing the partitions by department id
and a date. There is a drawback to partitioning in that you have to specify each of the partitions. If you

High School Is An Exciting Time Essay
For many middle school students across the nation the transition from middle school to high school is
an exciting time. It is the beginning of the end, their last hurrah before they go off on their own as
college students. While students may be ecstatic to experience all that high school has to offer, some
parents are apprehensive. They know the next four years will play a vital role in their child s future.
Parents wonder whether their local high school will prepare their child for the difficult transition from
high school to college. This type of thinking may lead parents to seek out other academic options for
their children. Marian High School, a private school located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, draws in
approximately 120 incoming freshman every year; they attain this number through the use of powerful
rhetorical appeals on their website. Marian entices parents looking for an alternative to their local high
school by tugging on emotions that are entangled with religion, using convincing numerical statistics
and by exhibiting the accomplishments of their graduates. As a result of the US Constitution s
ambiguity, national laws are perplexing when it comes to religion in a public high school. In terms of
speaking on religion teachers are frequently walking a fine line between legality and illegality, and for
this reason public schools tend to abstain from any religions conversation. For most, religion is a
profoundly personal and consequently emotional topic. Some

A Study On Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
The summer of 2010, my sister was diagnosed with a tumor the size of a walnut pressing on the
frontal lobe of her brain. With a hopeful prognosis of slow growth and surgery scheduled in late fall,
the outlook was promising. When she went in for surgery the doctors found a lesion instead of the
tumor they had diagnosed her with. The seemingly positive news turned dark as they explained they d
need to biopsy the tissue to understand what had caused it. In the middle of my second fall semester at
Edmonds Community College, my sister underwent endless scans and tests. When she began
experiencing severe migraines, aural hallucinations, seizures, and severe mood destabilization, I drove
to as many of her appointments in Seattle as I could and spent weekends with her where she lived with
my mother in Centralia. Though we avoided discussing her condition, I couldn t stop imagining the
potential fatal outcome. Previously diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, they advised my
sister to start an aggressive treatment approach as her O.C.D. was possibly a result of a lesion and
their growth would aggravate the disorder. The doctors expected lesion growth and possible
appearance of more lesions over time alongside a decline in her cognitive function. Neither my sister
nor I handled this news well. While her decline was sharp and her depression set in quickly, I
struggled with making it to class and completing my assignments. Each day I pushed myself to be

Process Experiential Emotion Focused Therapy
Process Experiential Emotion Focused Therapy (PEEFT) is an approach used to improve the
regulation, expression, acceptance, integration and transformation of emotional experiences. Emotions
govern the way we interact with the world around us and serve as the primary driver of decision
making, allowing us to identify potential risk and understanding personal needs and desires. The
process of Emotion Focused therapy (EFT) is essentially to improve overall emotional intelligence by
working with the clients current emotional experiences, understanding maladaptive emotional scheme
that may be preventing the clients personal growth and impeding on their everyday life and
experiencing. The EFT therapist guides the client through a process of awareness and expression of
emotions that can then be understood, reflected upon, integrated and transformed to add meaning to
their personal experiences. This review focuses on two 10 segments extracted from a counselling
session based primarily on the use of the intentional Emotion Focused Therapy, counselling
interventions. The first transcript models a more constructive use of the EFT approach, whereas the
second segment highlights a less effective use of the EFT interventions, which can be seen in the
client s storytelling and the stagnation in the session during the second segment. The client in this
session presented with a desire to become more of an authority figure in various aspects of his life. His

Suppliers would also be a factor to include when considering customers and competitors. There are
companies that suppliers are treated as partners because they have a close relationship with
organization. When the supplier has been providing raw materials or other products they become part
of the operation. For example, there are some Japanese firms that have partnered with their suppliers.
The community and special interest groups can also have some influence on the system design for an
organization. The influence they exert cannot be ignored. Being a corporate citizen in a community
can be important especially when managers live in those communities. Corporate citizenship: For
many, it remains a diffuse concept, but generally it speaks to companies voluntarily adopting a triple
bottom line, one that takes into account social, economic, and environmental considerations as well as
financial results (Richardson, 2007, p.92). When management designs a system its strategy and goals
and objectives it will include its plan to participate in the community. These are areas that the
organization can have some control and plan to integrate into its overall corporate strategy. The
amount of participation that can be provided ranges from supporting individual employees to the
company creating foundation to reach out to a larger audience. Internally, you need to consider

Summary Of Gonad The Barbarian And The Venus Flytrap
Anne McClintock s Gonad the Barbarian and the Venus Flytrap , focuses a lot of attention on how
from the beginning of history, women have been denied some of the basic rights and freedoms that
have been essential to the way that men live. Starting back from the times where they couldn t vote
and when women were basically seen as property when wedded. Women today and even in the earlier
days could not express their sexuality and could not show that they were sexual beings. Anne
McClintock gives the idea that women should be able to have the things that men have and they
should be able to express it in the same way as men. In this essay, I will analyze how Anne
McClintock views pornography as a form of pleasure that is mostly consumed by men and how
women are incorporated into the employment of the industry and even in the home setting. Anne
McClintock first talks about how women s sexuality has always been suppressed in many cultures and
societies around the world. There is a huge focus on making sure that men are taken care of sexually
and that they are able to go out and show their sexuality and not be ashamed of it. Men are able to
enjoy pornography and not feel guilty about enjoying it because it is apart of their nature. Everyone
knows that men masturbate and they are not really shy with talking about it but when it comes to
women it a foreign topic that if talked about makes you seem to promiscuous.
Anne McClintock shares her story of how she leaves South Africa and

It s always good to have options. But what happens when there are too many? This is the situation in
the eyewear industry today. There s an overwhelming number of options in frame choices, tints,
coatings, and lens materials. Of these option categories, choosing the right lens material is possibly the
most confusing. As you look through the pros and cons of the candidates, there s no overwhelming
winner that s superior in all the qualities (including cost) that go into a good lens. How do you make
an informed choice? By knowing exactly how you will use your prescription glasses and then picking
the lens material with the properties that make the best match. Are the glasses intended for mostly
indoor or outdoor use? Is the user an adult or a child? How meticulous is the user about taking good

In fact, breaking a thin polycarbonate lens would require bending it back and forth several times. This
is the reason for its superior impact strength (about 10 times higher than CR 39) and why it s used for
safety and sports glasses. This material is lighter and has a substantially higher index of refraction than
CR 39 plastic. This means the lenses are thinner and lighter. Another important property is that
polycarbonate naturally blocks 100% UV light. On the other hand, its optical quality is inferior to CR
39. Polycarbonate makes sense as an outdoor eyewear material. It s a good pick for sunglasses, which
should have UV protection. On the other hand, CR 39 plastic would require a special UV protection
coating for outdoor use. This increases its cost. The optical quality of polycarbonate is good enough
for driving, walking, and other outdoor activities. Polycarbonate s lighter weight and toughness are
perfect for athletic activities. However, this material is relatively soft and will require a scratch

  • 2. Waste and Pollution Waste Nearly everything we do leaves behind some kind of waste. Households create ordinary garbage, while industrial and manufacturing processes create solid and hazardous wastes. Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) more commonly known as trash or garbage consists of everyday items we use and then throw away, such as product packaging, grass clippings, furniture, clothing, bottles, food scraps, newspapers, appliances, paint, and batteries. This comes from our homes, schools, hospitals, and businesses. Each year EPA produces a report on MSW generation, recycling and disposal. In 2010, Americans produced about 250 million tons of MSW, or about 4.3 pounds of waste per person per day. EPA encourages practices that reduce the amount of waste ... No soil borings should be made until the Department has determined if the proposed site is acceptable with respect to topography and relief (this will save time and money). The Department will also determine at that time the compliance of the site location with state and federal laws (i.e., landfills must be one mile from an airport [airstrip] in which propeller driven aircraft operate two miles for jet aircraft). No landfills will be sited in areas that may adversely affect endangered and threatened species or critical habitat. [Boston: Wadsworth, 2015] 199 216) begins in Paris at Ritz Bar when a character named Charlie Wales is introduced. Charlie Wales, is described as a renewed father who tries to regain custody of his daughter Honoria after his previous life of drinking and recklessness. Charlie s old life of drinking and partying caused him to partake in numerous regretful activities, resulting in the death of his own wife, Helen. Due to Charlie s actions, Honoria was put in guardianship with Helen s sister, Marion. While Charlie claims to be over with his old habits, Marion questions if he actually is. F. ... Later, during the 1920s, the stock market crash occurred, causing many to suffer with insufficient funds. The stock market crash also correlates to Charlie and his luck with the stock market, however, later losing all of his money. The Great Depression lasted from 1929 to 1939, and was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world. . .when the Great Depression reached its lowest point, some 15 million Americans were unemployed and nearly half the country s banks had failed (History.com Staff, 2009). Another real world event is the Great Depression, caused by the stock market crash. At the time of the Great Depression, Americans lost everything, whether it was money, a house, cars, or beds, and were left with a low budget for food and clothes. Readers can infer, the author s attempt to display the typical behaviors during his time period in America and its relation to Charlie s. The term still holds its place in common parlance, and American dictionaries define it as luxurious, fashionable, elegant (The Ritz Bar, 2018). The bar s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The media in Western society provides a ‘fourth estate that alleges a neutral, objective and balanced perspective, independent of political input. The news forms the basis of this ‘fourth estate , playing an important role in keeping the public informed and therefore promoting democracy (Marris and Thornham, 1996). Daily there are millions of possible news headlines of which, only a small sample are published (Harcup and O Neill, 2001). Journalists appear to have an unvoiced compilation of guidelines or news values passed down through education as well as industry experience, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is this judgement and the reasons behind it, which was studied by Galtung and Ruge and so it is arguable that their theory is still highly relevant. However, it is undeniable that since the production of Galtung and Ruge s paper in 1967, journalism has frequently been reported to be suffering a significant deterioration (Ursell, 2001) in terms of quality and production. This view is reinforced by Franklin (1997) whose study discovered a movement from traditional news such as politics written to inform, towards news written with the purpose of entertainment. Franklin s findings support his suggestion that broadsheet newspapers have an increasingly tabloid agenda, which may be a result of user generated content being used to inform journalists what the readership wish to read about. E.g. coverage about celebrities instead of politics (Franklin, 1997 cited in Ursell, 2001). Using Galtung and Ruge s news values, this particular example would fall under the category of ‘Elite People (see AX p. 10) yet the coverage of celebrities although prominent in today s society, was not the intended news story that this category was created for. This emphasises that while the categories may be broadly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Representatives of 50 nations met in San Francisco in April through June 1945 to complete the Charter of the United Nations. (Messerli,Joe. 2017) The Roosevelt Administration strove at their best and strongest ability to avoid the mistakes Woodrow Wilson made in the failure of the League of Nations and as well as selling the League of Nations to the Senate of the United States Of America. This oddly sought bicameral support from the Republican Party ( Roosevelt s Administration was purely Democrat ) and the Republican Party endorsed the United States participation in a postwar international organization, in which Congress overwhelmingly endorsed participation, with a 77% approval rate from Congress itself. • 7. The Western Media Democratic Promotion Against The East The 2010 airing of the Nobel Peace Prize awards ceremony was met with controversy from numerous ends of the world, as its recipient was the jailed Chinese activist Liu Xiaobo. It has been argued by the Chinese government and outlets that this event is a product of the media and by doing so critiques the broadcast as a representation of western imperialism and as such highlights the limits of the liberal political press model. The communist party ran newspaper Global Times attacked the broadcast as a political tool of Western interests , and whether agreeing or not with this accusation, it is easy to understand why such a conclusion can be made. This case can be analysed in some ways as a case of the western media democratic promotion against the east. The idea of democratic supremacy can be argued thoroughly when deliberated through a political ideological perspective. The Nobel committee noted that the Chinese government had labelled Liu Xaiobo as a criminal and saw his prize as provocative to their judgment and rule. Though the program places itself in direct opposition to this, with Thorbjørn Jagland stating in his speech that it is one of the most important decision in the peace prizes history . He labels the Chinese punishment of Liu as severe and calls Liu the central spokesman for human rights and an international symbol for the struggle against China. This can in turn be viewed as a critique of the other and a direct promotion of the western model of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Decentralized Organizations And Its Impact On... While organizations once typically held centralized structures, the more recent trend is toward decentralization. Centralization is the extent that and organization s decision making is made at a single point or by a single person. In centralized organizations, top managers make all of the decisions, while lower level managers and employees follow their instructions. In decentralized organizations, decision making is delegated to work groups or the managers who are closest to the organization s day to day actions. Centralization affects employee/manager relationships by providing a more stable environment and clarity regarding whom to go to for directions, while decentralization allows employees to feel less isolated from decision makers and have more autonomy. In terms of its impact on organizational strategies, decentralization allows for problems to be solved more quickly by those who have more direct knowledge about the specific customer base, while centralization lets companies avoid bad choices and maintain a stable environment. Centralization affects employee/manager relationships by providing clarity about the relationship. Because it is so structured, it provides a more stable environment with a clear hierarchy. As a result, centralization provides an unambiguous relationship between managers and their employees. In centralized organizations, there is no confusion about who to report to or whose instructions to follow. Simple structures, bureaucracies, and virtual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Participatory Sensing And The New Era Of Technology After reading and gathering information about this article participatory sensing, my first initial thought was what is participatory sensing? Participatory sensing is an approach to data collection and interpretation in which individuals, acting alone or in groups, use their personal mobile devices and web services to systematically explore interesting aspects of their worlds ranging from health to culture. There are many authentic forms of participatory sensing, but one in particular is the article written by Katie Shilton. As Shilton expresses the use of participatory sensing through forms of privacy, mobile phone, and ubiquitous data collection. Based on these forms of technology about participatory sensing, how would it improve our lives and our communities, but at what cost, we are willing to have our privacy be out there in many databases? How our behavior affects should be of moral concern to us. Moreover, we want our moral rules to make our society a good society, and it is hard to argue against the claim that a happy society is better than unhappy society . Society often governs that way think by categorizing us with race, religion, ethnicity, but most importantly gender always separating us all in some way. • 14. The Events That Helped Build Spain s Foundation After The... There were many important people and events that helped build Spain s foundation after the Spanish Civil War. One of the people I m going to write about is Juan Carlos I, an event that I m going to write about is the Olympic games in Barcelona in 1992, and last is the education in Spain. Spain has come a long way since the Spanish Civil War and today is one of the more beautiful tourist spots for people around the world. Spain is the second largest country in the EU, from the beautiful Spanish language they speak, to the amazing cultural foods. Spain has become an amazing country and the history to how they got here was hard fought. First, Juan Carlos I has played a pivotal role in the transformation of Spain from an arguably state of repression into what it has become today: a thriving vibrant democracy (Afzali 3). Juan Carlos I s full name was Juan Carlos Alfoso Victor Maria de Borbon y Borbon Dos Sicilias. He was born January 5, 1938 in Rome. His grandfather is Alfonso XIII had a blood line that produced kings of France since Henri IV so Juan Carlos I was pretty much destined to be a king because it ran in the family. Another important person that played a big role in the transformation of Spain is Francisco Franco. Francisco Franco was interested in young Juan Carlos. • 17. Carrie By Stephen King Analyse Lauren Ciha Carrie Stephen King Horror Carrie is a story about a girl who has never fit in at school. All the other kids were always mean to her. They ether never thought of her feelings, or didn t care. One day, in the girls locker room, the teasing got out of hand. This time, a teacher caught them. This time, revenge was in order. At least, that s what Chris Hargensen thought. The punishment for their crime, no prom. Chris wasn t going down without a fight, but she sure went down. When a vicious prank is pulled on Carrie at the dance, she snaps and unleashes he telegenic power on all the kids, teachers, parents, and the rest of the town. The town will burn with Carrie s revenge, but will she burn with it? Carrie White Carrie is the main character (you can tell by the title), but I would also say she is partially the antagonist. Her mother raised her to be very religious and told her almost everything she did was a sin. When Carrie wasn t like the other kids, they made fun of her. When they would make fun of her, she got mad. And when she got mad, bad things happened. Carrie learned she had telekinesis. In the play Doubt by John Patrick Shanley the reader is left with a lot of doubt because Father Flynn, one of the main characters, is being persecuted for sexually harassing a young boy in his class. In this play a pastor by the name of Father Flynn is being investigated because Sister Aloysius is suspicious that he has been sexually harassing a young boy by the name of Donald in their school. Based on the evidence in Patrick Shanley s play, Doubt: A Parable, I conclude that Father Flynn is not guilty, because Sister A does not like Flynn and Sister A doubts all of her wrong doings after all of this commotion. While Sister A is talking to Sister James she ends the conversations by saying, I have doubts! I have such doubts! (Shanley 58). During this conversation with Sister James, Sister A explains how she has many doubts with this situation with Flynn and how he has left the school. This is important because this has more evidence to why I think Flynn is innocent. Sister A explain show she has many doubts after this situation has gone through. A sub point to this argument is that Sister A explains that she lied about making a phone call to the previous church Flynn went to: I was Lying. I made no such call (Shanley 58). Sister James had thought that Flynn left because Sister A made a phone call that explained that Flynn had a bad history at previous churches. This is an example of why Flynn is innocent because Sister A had lied about the phone call she made, so there was no true evidence that Flynn did anything bad a previous churches. With these two context clues you can conclude that Flynn should be innocent because there is no clear evidence as to why he should be guilty. On the other hand others may argue that Flynn is guilty because he had a private discussion with Donald who was a student in the class. • 22. Marx s Theory On Class Conflict And Society Essay Since the french and industrial revolution in 18 century, the world had come to a new era: capitalist society. Capitalism represents a big step forward in human productive abilities compared with previous forms of society. Along with the social development, there was a new group of people who was called the sociologist who analyze and try to understand how this society works. Marx was one of them and his ideas were influential. His theory mostly emphasis on class conflict and the society from economic aspects. This essay will first analyze Marx s theory in detail. Then I will explain how economy and social conflict related to Marx s theory along with the role of these factors in the capitalist society. Marx defined social class as the class which sets the scene and moves things forward. He sometimes talked about there are only two classes: Bourgeoisie and proletariat, the class in itself and the class for itself, sometimes talked about there are many numbers of classes such as capitalist, working class and landowner. There is no simple unambiguous, and universally accepted body of Marxist doctrine. As Bob Jessop said, the thoughts of Marx in his life time were various and far ranging. In general, Marx refers bourgeoisies as capitalists and they are major class in that period leading into industrialization. And he thinks the petty bourgeoisie as middle classes who cannot see themselves as part of class, only as individual. The last one, the proletariat, was described by ... While the definitions for success and comfort have changed over time, a constant truth is that hard work and sacrifice are required to reach these goals. Moving from an individual to the societal or political level, for many races and nations, progress can measure success. Ethnic groups want progress towards equality, while nations, particularly those in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, want progress towards economic and industrial progress towards leveling with the West; they also wish for political respect and autonomy. Dubois novel Dark Princess, the characters of Sammy Scott and Sara Andrews exemplify individualism completely. The honorable Sammy Scott was a leading black politician in Chicago. Dubois described Sammy s beginnings: ...in 1910 by selling the right to gamble, keep houses of prostitution, and commit petty theft, to certain men, white and black, who paid him in cash (Dubois, pg. 82). Sammy is completely corrupt, wanting power and money for himself. He misses his opportunity as a politician to help his district, make positive changes that could improve the lives of the black people all around him. Instead he chooses to be a gangster, promoting gambling and prostitution, and maintaining a criminal undertone in Chicago. Sara Andrews was equally calculating. Dubois describes Sara on page 84 as having a good intellect without moral scruples and a clear idea of the communal and social value of virginity, respectability, and good clothes . Dubois is saying she is cunning, and in tune with what is expected in society. She knows what she needs to do to be successful, and like Sammy, she wants all of the power for herself. Sammy and Sara both lived a dog eat dog existence, and were willing to sacrifice others on their way to the top. It is important to note that Dubois recognized individualism as a major obstacle for racial progress, and Sammy and Sara demonstrated the issues stemming from individualism in Dark Princess. Unfortunately, others failed to capitalize on Dubois foresight. Today there is an equal lack of cohesiveness amongst African Americans, due to varying socioeconomic levels. Hinduism originated first when around 1500 B.C the Indian civilization was overtaken by an invasion of pastoral nomads from around the Caspian Sea, north of Persia. These nomads continued to invade the region over several hundred years, conquering and settling among the native people. As a result of the clashes between these two cultures Hinduism emerged as a result of the fusion of the beliefs that the native people of India and the new arrivals had. Hindu priests created a caste system to deal with the problems caused by racial tensions between the new arrivals and the native Indians. The caste system divided the population into groups in which highest caste were the Hindu priests, who were followed by the warriors, the farmers and merchants, the servants and laborers, and ultimately the lowest caste were the war captives and slaves. The histogram and stem and leaf plot also shows how students passed the test by seeing the median and mode on the graph. The assigning of the scores I decided to have five letter grades which were, A, B, C, D, and F. Letter grade A is 90 100, B is 80 89, C is 70 79, D is 60 69, and F is 59 0. The reason I chose this grade assignment is because I wanted to know how many students have passed the exam beyond average or below. The average is a 70 79 and having five categories can show which students actually know the subject or need to work on it, whether over the average or under the average. Describing the middle of the data is that the central tendency by using the mean, median, or mode. The mean gives us the average, the median gives us which is the number in the middle of the set, while mode show us the most frequently occurring value in a data set. The box and whisker and histogram, it s better to use the median to describe the middle because since the mean is less than the median, that s why it s skewed because the high scores influence the direction of the graph. Performance tuning can take place from a DBA perspective, at the full database level, or from a Developer perspective, on the level of individual packages/procedures/functions and SQL queries. Before initiating performance tuning, you need to know where your performance bottlenecks are. Once a table is partitioned, it is easier and faster to access the data in the table, because a query can access just one or a group of partitions on the table, rather than accessing all of the data in the parent table. You can even specify a partition to use in your query. Queries can also work in parallel on the table, running through multiple partitions at once, which is especially helpful if you find you can t avoid a full table scan. So, even if your partitions aren t set up logically to your query, there is a performance improvement to partitioning. There are several options for the type of partitioning you can do. One common method is to partition by a range of data, for instance a date range. This is helpful if your table has a lot of historical data, and only the newest data is normally accessed or updated, rather than accessing ALL of the historical data, you can access just the latest data. It s possible, on the other hand, that your table is usually accessed by a column with distinct values, such as a department id, in which case it might be better to use list partitioning, or you could have a composite partition, such as a range list partition, such as organizing the partitions by department id and a date. There is a drawback to partitioning in that you have to specify each of the partitions. If you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
