How did the Second World War Influenced the Economy of Germany?
Introduction:
As war impacts all aspects of the country involved, economy is one of the most heavily hit, as seen in
Germany through WWII. Before the Second World War Germany was deeply separated due to the
Treaty of Versailles which cut Germany s industrial west from it populous east. However Hitler
through his political acts wished to unify these halves of the same whole. As an act of unifying the
country Hitler placed the Jews and other undesirables at the center of the blame for the happening in
the German economy. Additionally, the persecution of the Jews skewed the data that is represented
today because of the alienation of the Jews as citizens they were not included in the statistics collected
at the time. Additionally, women were taken out of the data collection furthering the false validity of
the statistics presented by the Nazi Party. How did the persecution of the Jews influence the
inaccuracy of the data and statistics taken at this time? What impact did Hitler have on the German
economy? How did Hitler unifying Germany aid in its economic recovery? How did Hitler s attempt
at European domination lead to the defeat of Germany during WWII? How did the money system in
place before the end of the war compare to the money system after the war ceased?

North America Geography Essay
Throughout the course of history, geography has always played an important role in the shaping of
civilizations. In the British colonies of North America, geography determined almost all aspects of
how they would develop. Questions like whether a colony would be agricultural or based on trade,
what kind of immigrants would come to each region, which colonies would develop an economic
backbone based off of slavery, how stable a colony would be, and what a colony s basic unit of local
government can be answered by geography because it was the primary factor in shaping the
development of these aspects of British North America in the seventeenth century. Due to the
geographic differences between the Northern and Southern colonies, the development ... Show more

In the South, its geography lent itself to the large scale production of crops, which as a result required
substantial amounts of labor to tend to large plantations and keep the South s economy running by
keeping up with the European demand for crops like tobacco. This demand for labor was first filled by
indentured servants, people who, for four to seven years, gave up their freedom in exchange for land
once their indenture was over and a passage across the Atlantic. As soon as the death rates began to
fall in the South began to fall though, slaves became the more profitable investment, and the switch
from servitude to slavery occurred. The number of African slaves sold by British dealers swelled to
20,000 annually (Davidson, et al 67). Masters could expect their slaves to work for them for more than
the four to seven years of a servant for nothing in return. On top of that, the masters would have
ownership to the children that the slaves had. It was because of the large amounts of farmable land in
the Southern colonies why slavery inevitably became indispensable to its economy (Davidson, et al
67). In the North though, because of its geography, large scale agriculture was impossible, so the need
for large scale labor was not present as it was in the South. As a result, the north s settlements
remained relatively homogenous (Davidson, et al 92) throughout the seventeenth

The Fall Of Napoleon And The French Revolution
After the Seven Years War and the American Revolutionary War, France was deeply in debt. Due to
unwanted taxation and suffering many years of bad harvest, the French Revolution erupted in 1789.
By 1799, the government of France was on the verge of collapse. It was then that the brilliant, young
French General Napoleon Bonaparte, having already won fame with a series of victories for
revolutionary France in Italy, began hearing of the chaos France while busy fighting a fruitless war in
Egypt. Napoleon decided to march his army back to France and he overthrew the French government
in an army coup. After securing power, he replaced it with a new form of government, the Consulate.
Napoleon self declared himself as the first Consul.

Analysis Of The Movie The Gum Advertisement
The gum advertisement is an Extra Gum commercial that was recently uploaded and aired on
YouTube on October 7, 2015 (Richards). This particular commercial has been called the most
romantic and best tear jerker commercial to date (Stern). The commercial follows the romantic story
of Sarah and Juan. Their story begins with them first catching each other s eye, to the two falling in
love and becoming high school sweetheart s, and then continues to show their relationship progress as
it goes on for several years. During each monumental moment in their relationship, a piece of gum is
exchanged and focused on. A numerous number of appeals are present throughout the commercial.
Appeals that the creators of this gum commercial used include appeals to memory, consistency,
creativity, and love to successfully portray that love will survive any life change or challenge. The first
appeal that really makes a mark throughout this commercial is the appeal to memory and flashbacks.
The entire gum commercial focus on the memories written down on each gum wrapper by Juan. Every
time a memory is made by the couple, Juan draws the memory on the back of a gum wrapper and
saves it, without Sarah knowing he is doing this. With him keeping every gum wrapper, it leads to the
big emotional finale when he displays each framed gum wrapper on the walls in a private room for
Sarah before proposing to her. Before proposing to her, a series of flashbacks occur every time she
looks at all the gum

What s Definition Of Intelligence And Tell Me What...
1. Please parse Wechsler s definition of intelligence and tell me what exactly did Wechsler mean? 2.
How did he come to understand intelligence as he did? Intelligence is the aggregate or global capacity
of the individual to act purposefully, to think rationally and to deal effectively with his environment
(Wechsler, 1939 p. 3). Wechsler explains that it is global because it characterizes the individual s
behavior as a whole, it is aggregate because it is composed of elements or abilities which are
qualitatively differentiable. Wechsler further explains that intelligence is not just a sum of these
abilities. Intelligent behavior is a result of the interaction of these abilities. Intelligent behavior can be
determined by other factors than intellectual abilities, such as drive and incentive. An excess of any
given ability may add relatively little to the effectiveness of a behavior as a whole. Wechsler
differentiates between intelligence and intellectual abilities. Although intelligence is no mere sum of
intellectual abilities, the only way we can evaluate it quantitatively is by the measurement of the
various aspects of these abilities .(Wechsler, Wechsler conceptualization of intelligence had been
influenced by Spearman who pioneered the concept of g as global intelligence. Although Spearman
was reluctant to call g global intelligence, Wechsler pointed out that g does equal intelligence because
it measured intellectual tasks exclusively. Spearman s g factor was the

Try ordering one course at a time. Too many courses lead to too many calories.
Look at other parts of the menu (Salads, Soups, side items, even breakfast items) for healthy starter

Research Paper On Christmas In Australia
What is a down under Christmas like? Australia is known as the land Down Under for its position in
the southern hemisphere. Australia is the world s largest island and also the world s smallest
continent. The seasons in Australia are opposite to the United States. Christmas festivities begin in late
November, when schools and church groups present Nativity plays. When Australians celebrate
Christmas on December 25, it is during summer vacation. Many of the traditions in Australia are
similar to the traditions in the United States. Homes are decorated, families enjoy a holiday meal,

On Christmas Eve, families attend church together. Some children expect Father Christmas to leave
gifts, and others wait for Santa Claus to visit and deliver gifts. After opening presents on Christmas
morning, the family sits down to a breakfast of ham and eggs. Then the family goes to church again.
Christmas Day is when families and close friends gather together from all over Australia. The
highlight of the day is the holiday meal in the middle of the day.
Finally, one of my favorite parts about learning Australia Christmas, is that they have huge bonfires at
the end of the day. They get together and hang out, they tell stories to each other. Also they gets laughs

Reform In The Austrian Empire, Russia, And Great Britain...
There were many efforts for reform in the Austrian Empire, Russia, and Great Britain between 1850
and 1870. In the Austrian Empire, Ausgleich created the Dual Monarchy of Austria Hungary. Each
state was granted its own constitution, legislature and governmental machinery for domestic affairs. A
single monarch was also established to hold the two states together. The Ausgleich was only
successful in allowing the German speaking Austrians and Hungarians to dominate minority groups
such as the Slavic people. In imperial Russia, Alexander issued an emancipation edict that freed
peasants allowing them to own property, freely marry, and bring suits to the law. This wasn t very
successful because the peasants were ultimately expected to repay the

Finding Truth In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
The Romantic Period was a time very different from that of the previous movement, the
Enlightenment. It was a time for creativity and it was a time of unity in nature and within themselves.
During the Enlightenment, science and reason prevailed. Everything had set rules on how it should be
and how people should act in their private and public lives. Truth was static and never changing until
the Romantic Movement. Truth changed and was based on an individual s experience. Whereas during
the Romantic period. Transcendentalists were people found during this time who, according to A
Handbook to Literature, believed in finding truth within oneself where individuals could hear the
voice of God. They believed each person should find his or her own path to walk with God instead of
relying on an institution. This differed from the ideals of the Enlightenment in that during the
Enlightenment, some believed that science was all the God one needed. Science was the place truth
and knowledge was found, and there was no place in science for God. Dionysus, the god of wine,
fertility, and music is found throughout the works of Romantic authors and is seen as an opposition to
reason from the Enlightenment.

American Funding Of Nazi Eugenics
American Funding of Nazi Eugenics
Eugenics is a complex term that has been studied and discussed internationally and throughout the
eras. A basic definition of eugenics is the scientific study of race improvement. The definition is then
broken up into two different aspects, positive eugenics and negative eugenics. Positive eugenics is
defined as improving a race by focusing on ways to increasing the better population. Incentives are
given to those superior races or populations to have children and get married. On the other hand
negative eugenics is decreasing the chances of the inferior race or population from having children.
This type of negatives eugenics is trying to stop those who are determined on having inferior genes
from passing on their inferior traits that would corrupt the population as a whole. The whole study of
eugenics is based on the theory that the gene a person is born with determines their outcome in life.
Using this theory some scientists are given a way to justify categorizing groups of people into superior
or inferior classes based on race. The study of eugenics was discussed around the world having the
main powers being in Great Britain, Germany, and the United States.
Nazi Germany is one of the most notorious cases of eugenics being put into practice on a large scale.
Before reading The Nazi Connection: Eugenics, American Racism German National Socialism by
Stefan Kühl, I knew that Nazi s used eugenics to justify killing off Jews, handicap

Anti-Slavery Society Vs. American Colonization Society
An objective for a group to free slaves and pay for them to be relocated in Africa, is a one of the most
influential ways to start an end towards slavery. This group is called the American Colonization
Society. If the support from local and state branches, churches, and federal government are
contributing to provide funds to this cause, it is one way to prove that this is something that should
happen. Think about it, African Americans could enjoy all the advantages of society, self government,
eligibility to office, and freedom from the degradation arising from an inferiority of caste.
I strongly disagree with slavery. It is clear that I am for the American Anti Slavery Society to
contribute funds for the colonization. Slavery has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One reason for someone to oppose is because for the slaves that were born in America are more
inclined to stay in the country they are from. This contribution could make the African Americans feel
forced to move to a country they are not familiar with. All the slaves that have worked hard to build
the land deserve the freedom where they are from. Others could say and believe that its true intent was
to drain off the best of the free black population and preserve the institution of slavery. Finally, when
people see that this plan could work it is going to cost money to buy substantial numbers of people for
their freedom. This means that the price of enslaved people will increase and soon after this situation,
it can create problems on how we are going to fund this contribution and who we are going to decide
that will participate in this or not.
To conclude, I completely agree with the American Anti Slavery contributing funds for colonization
and allowing its name to be used in this effort. Besides the reasons for people who oppose, this is one
influential way to slowly end slavery. This is showing the nation that not everyone is for racism,
everyone is changing and not everything is based on the color of your skin. Slavery has gone on for
way too long and from this point it is time to use any situation to help end this

Protecting the Australian Native Ecosystem
Ecosystem is an important part of the environment and to protect the Australian native ecosystem
many management plans are made to preserve it. Where the disruption occurred in the environment by
human activities is not only the factor of worry, but also the exotic plants which are trying to take over
the native species are a matter of concern too. The steps taken by humans to get rid of their own waste
from the environment as well as the weeds, come under management plans. On the excursion to
Buckley s Hole, Godwin Beach, Red Beach and Melaleuca Wetland, it was observed that these areas
come under the Buckley s Hole Management Plan. Where the abiotic and biotic factors interact with
each other and help in sustainability of better environment. But the Buckley s Hole Management Plan
is not quite successful plan to save the affected areas. The plan was implemented in 1998 (Department
of Environment Staff, 1998) and is useful to some extent but has not proved its effectiveness in all the
areas. The current hole was formed in 1980 in the tidal inlet known as Yabby Patch Creek and became
a breeding ground for the mosquitoes and a resting spot for the migratory birds (The Real Buckley s
Hole, 1980). The main reason for the execution of this plan was due to its great framework that could
preserve the Australian heritage of flora and fauna but it could be seen on the day that it was not that
applicable to fully protect the native species. However at the Buckley s Hole just at the

Tex Mex Vs. MexicanAll over the U.S companies and restaurants have made a lot of money selling
Mexican food. In fact, Taco Bell makes about 1.2 to 2.5 million dollars a day! Not just Taco Bell, but
many restaurants and fast food chains try to recreate the authentic tastes and flavors of Mexican food.
Tex Mex is the American version of the food from Mexico. Although it is all over America, it is most
common in the southern states closest to the border of Mexico. Tex Mex and authentic Mexican food
are definitely different. Although there are similarities, you can only find truly authentic Mexican food
in Mexico. Tex Mex is the imitation food of Mexican food. Tex Mex first spread to Texas in the 1950 s
when a lot of immigrants moved to the United States. Nachos were supposedly first served at a
concession at the Dallas State Fair in Texas in 1964. In 1972 a book called The Cuisines of Mexico,
was released and made the distinction between authentic Mexican food and Tex Mex. Diana Kennedy
(the author of the book) used the term Tex Mex and made it popular The term wasn t always used to
describe the food, it used to be an abbreviation for the Texas Mexican Railway. In the early 16th
century, Spain invaded Mexico. Spanish foods had a very big impact on the Mexican cuisine. They
introduced sheeps, pigs, cows, etc. They also brought new products like dairy, garlic, herbs, wheat,
spices, and more. Most Mexican food came from the indigenous people

The Possible Cause Of The Salem Witch Trials
The Salem Witch Trials began in Salem, Massachusetts, 1690. To this day it is not completely clear
why these trials began, but some believed that physical and/or mental illness, like hysteria, was the
cause. Others suggest that some of the local plants had been poisoned. The most reasonable cause was
that there was a pact amongst a group of girls that wanted revenge on some of the people in the town;
since they accused many and had similar accusations that could have been rehearsed. Other
explanations include that the Puritans, coming from the same views from Europe, believed that
witchcraft was possible. Because of the already implanted idea that witches were real, in Salem
witchcraft soon became the most believed cause for the trials. There

Indeed this is the most medals any athlete in the Olympics has ever been awarded, Michael Phelps had
to work extremely hard to achieve that world record. Behind the scenes, Phelps works hard day in and

like Phelps because if he can do it, they can do it too. In the commercial it shows Michael Phelps
behind the scenes of all the wins, it shows the trainings, the work outs, the therapy. The commercial
shows Phelps pushing himself past his usual limit, you can even see him push himself up onto the side
of the pool to throw up. His coach is yelling at him and he can hear his coaches demands as he s trying

Examination of Mrs Wright in Trifles by Susan Glaspell Essay
Examination of Mrs Wright in Trifles by Susan Glaspell
The play ?Trifles?, by Susan Glaspell , is an examination of the different levels of early 1900?s mid
western farming society?s attitudes towards women and equality. The obvious theme in this story is
men discounting women?s intelligence and their ability to play a man?s role, as detectives, in the
story. A less apparent theme is the empathy the women in the plot find for each other. Looking at the
play from this perspective we see a distinct set of characters, a plot, and a final act of sacrifice.

Former NFL official Jim Daopoulos, in an interview with ESPN on Monday morning, explained the
process in which footballs are managed. Two hours and 15 minutes before each game, officials inspect
12 footballs from each team and put a mark on them to indicate they meet the proper requirements and
are good for usage. Then those footballs are given to the ball attendant.
There also is a second set of six footballs, used specifically for the kicking game, that are marked
appropriately and remain in the possession of officials at all times.
Officials check balls as they go into the game, and if the ball doesn t feel perfect, they can throw it out,
Daopoulos said. There is always the possibility that balls can lose air due to the conditions.
A team can be fined if it is found to be knowingly altering the weight of the football.
The NFL s game operations manual states: Once the balls have left the locker room, no one, including
players, equipment managers, ball boys, and coaches, is allowed to alter the footballs in any way. If
any individual alters the footballs, or if a non approved ball is used in the game, the person responsible
and, if appropriate, the head coach or other club personnel will be subject to discipline, including but
not limited to, a fine of $25,000.

Margaret Atwood s Theory Of Feminism
Feminism is a movement aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic,
andsocial right and equal opportunities for women. Feminism is mainly focused on women s issues,
behaviorand belief of a feminist. It is a philosophy in which women and their contribution are valued.
Feminists view the world as being unequal. They want to see the gender gap and the idea that men are
superior to women decreased or even abolished. Different types of feminist theory add to this
interesting study and each has had a profound impact on women and gender studies. The study of
feminism could be split into three parts as Cultural Feminism, Individual Feminism and Liberal
Feminism.

Atwood in an interview says:
It s a human activity that has all kinds of symbolic connotations depending on the society and the level
of society. In other words ,what you eat varies from place to place, how we feel about what we eat
varies from place to place, how we feel about what we eat varies from individual as well as from place
to place. If you think of food as coming in various categories: sacred food, ceremonial food, everyday
food and things that are not to be eaten ,forbidden food, dirty food, if you like for the anorexic ,all
food is dirty food. (Lyons 228)
Atwood suggests that in conventional society, women are edible. They are swallowed up by their male
counterparts. Marian is aware of this fact and decides that if she must be eaten, then she will take
control of her own life and eat herself. Eating disorders in Atwood s works are therefore employed as
symbols of women s bodies responses to social pressure. Even before Marian returns to first person
selfhood, she sees that there might be a way out, that becoming trapped by a repressive or unsatisfying
role need not be the end of the matter. Atwood is urging women to assert their right to eat and re

Enlightenment Kant
Enlightenment, according to Emmanuel Kant is the rise of the human beings from the inability to use
their own understanding without relying on other people s guidance. It is the emergence of a person
from his/her immaturity or minority in terms of making decisions for him/herself. If this immaturity is
self imposed if cause lies not because the person lacks understanding, but because he/she lacks
courage and resolve to use his/her own understanding without the help from another person. A person
is said to be enlightened is he/she has the courage to use his/her own understanding to make a decision

A Company s Decision For Buy Navigation And Mapping Software
This scenario focuses on a company s decision to buy navigation and mapping software. The manager
of the company approaches their IT manager, Patrick, who is supposed to recommend the best

actions that he violates professional ethics. R Bradburn states that business ethics... is an oxymoron
suggesting that the idea of business can never coincide with ethics because business in itself is too
interested in expansion and selfish motives.
All IT professionals should meet the criteria of the British Computer Society Code of Conduct. The
BCS Code of Conduct states an employee should take into account Public Interests, Professional
Competence and Integrity, Duty to Relevant Authority and Duty to the Profession. The BCS Code of
Conduct seems to be based on Deontological Ethics as it states that it is an employee s duty to fulfil
these guidelines. Firstly, an interest in the effect on the public is vital to the maintenance of ethics
throughout a company. In a sense, a company cannot function properly without the support of the
public. Whereas, Professional Competence and Integrity indicates that an employee should try to gain
as much knowledge as possible to influence growth and improvement. This also indicates that those
seeking improvement within a company should encourage other employees to do the same. The BCS

Essay on The Implications of Technology in the Movie Her
About nine years ago I discovered a book called The Age of Spiritual Machines by a man named Ray
Kurzweil that demanded my immediate interest. I was captivated by his view of the future of
technology astoundingly positive and bright compared to most peoples negative or dystopian outlook
when it comes to the dangers of a society increasingly reliant on machines and technology. I recently
had the privilege of watching Spike Jonze s 2013 movie her. While focusing on the personal aspect of

Spike Jonze s recent movie her takes place in a future LA, but not one that you would expect, having
most popular visions of the future being dark and dystopian. The streets are clean and the people are
happy. Everything is basked in a pastel like glow, feeling nostalgically retro. Technology is used to
their advantage for convenience, but has not overtaken their lives and created a society of anti social
recluses. Jonze s vision of the future is decidedly positive and a refreshing take on what humanity can
do if they make the right choices. Enter Theodore, the protagonist who has separated from his wife in
the past year. He is a depressed, hopeful romantic clinging onto the thought that his wife will change
her mind and come back to him, evident in his reluctance to sign his divorce papers. While walking
down the street one day he notices an advertisement for a new operating system named OS1, touted as

Don John s Tragic Flaws Essay
Anyone with access to William Shakespeare s books knows that his plays are littered with characters
withholding tragic flaws; especially in Much Ado Ado About Nothing, where these personality
dysfunctions are most relevant. Despite the downfall a character may experience withholding a tragic
flaw in this book, these traits are most significant when it comes to developing the story; which is
especially the case with Don John, a major character who s tragic flaw paves way for the entire arc of
Much Ado About Nothing. As a result, Don John s tragic thirst for revenge and mischief eventually
leads to his own slow downfall in ways that are more impactful than thought of.
For example, the most noticeable impact of this tragic flaw is how strongly ... Show more content on

Handmaid Character Analysis
Throughout most of Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale, Moira is a character who refuses to be
beaten down and conform to the new society that Gilead had created. She is one of only characters
that is referred to by her real name, and this is because Moira never really becomes a Handmaid like
the others. In lieu of the passivity that the other Handmaid s come to have, she fights back against the
new system. Her resistance can be seen not only in her attitude while she is a Handmaid, but in her
two attempts at escape as well. Moira s refusal to conform to the society that the Republic of Gilead
created represents the rebellious spirit of humanity, as well as how an oppressive society such as
Gilead can break even the strongest of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This didn t change even after stricter rules were in place, as when Moira was first brought to the
gymnasium she wore a blue sweatshirt along with jeans, along with sporting a short haircut (71). Once
the Republic of Gilead was formed, the pressure to conform to society s new rules was harshly
enforced. However, this didn t stop Moira from continuing to rebel in whatever ways that she was
able. She was the polar opposite of what the majority of the Handmaids were like, as all of the other
Handmaids that have been introduced were seen to be very reserved and many had even accepted their
new role in life. These characteristics were the exact opposite of Moira s, with her attempting to
escape two times during her stint as a Handmaid. After Moira was caught during her first attempt at
escape, she was tortured severely. This was done by using steel cables on both the feet and the hands,
since these were seen as non essential parts of a Handmaid (91). Although she was caught quickly in
her first attempt at escape, the beatings that she endured only fueled her desire to find a way out of this
oppressive society even more. Along with her attempts at escape, she fought against Gilead in a more
subtle way, by showing true solidarity among her fellow Handmaids. Although the Republic of Gilead
was supposed to be about fostering this solidarity among women, in reality it made all of the women
suspicious of each other

Parallels in William s Life and A Streetcar Named Desire and Glass Menagerie
Tennessee Williams is one of the greatest American playwrights. He was constantly shocking
audiences with themes such as homosexuality, drug addictions, and rape. He broke free from taboos
on such subjects, paving the way for future playwrights. He also was a very good writer. One of the
things he is famous for is his dialogue, which is very poetic.
Williams wrote about his life. The Glass Menagerie is a very autobiographical play. A Streetcar

situations from his life. In both plays, the characters are drawn from his life. The other relationship ...

August Wilson s Century Cycle Analysis
August Wilson has been called by many one of the best playwrights of all time. August Wilson s
Century Cycle was sometimes referred to as the Pittsburgh Cycle. The Century Cycle has been
acknowledged as one of August Wilson s greatest works. The Pittsburgh Cycle was his series of ten
plays that charts the African American experience throughout the twentieth century. All of them were
set in Pittsburgh s Hill District except for Ma Rainey s Black Bottom, which was set in Chicago
(August Wilson). Each play was set in a different decade throughout the 20th century. These plays
showed the changing social and historical landscape of black America over 100 years (10 Plays, 100
Years Playwright August Wilson Reveals the History of a Community (From the Playbill)).
Wilson once said, I think the blues is the best literature that we as blacks have created since we ve
been here, and it s a lot of philosophical ideas. I call it our sacred book (Dyson). This genre of music
was created in the south of the United States by African Americans in the late 1800 s. The blues give
lyrical shape to the hurts and affections that stymie and transform black life. The blues tap comedy to
temper tragedy and to tame the absurd (Dyson). The blues music was popular among slaves living in
the deep south.
August Wilson stated around 20 years ago that he believes America doesn t need color blind casting. I
don t think his opposition to color blind casting is racist. I agree with his reasoning behind his opinion
to a certain extent. Wilson said that he opposes casting any blacks in roles written for whites and that
it detracts from the humanity of the actor. Likewise, I would be opposed to casting whites in my plays
(Shirley). However, I also agree with a statement made by Ambush saying he appreciates the historical
underpinnings of his assumptions and his arguments. Nonetheless, Ambush believes that minority
actors should be able to play roles designed for whites as long as it is color conscious or culture
conscious casting instead of colorblind. According to this policy, directors can cast nontraditionally
but should not pretend that an actor s race does not matter (Shirley). I think casting based on race
depends on the role

Differences Between European Spanish And Latin American...
There are numerous variations of Spanish, of course, and a native speaker is expected to understand
all those variations, but for a new learner it can be confusing, since each Spanish speaker country has
their own accent, dialects, how to people address each other, and the way they conjugate the verbs.
The purpose of this essay is contrast and compare the differences between European Spanish and
Latin America Spanish when it comes about pronunciation, vocabulary, phonological differences and
so on. The most notable difference is Ustedes vs Nosotros. European Spanish has two plural forms for
the English you when address two or more people, which is Vosotros and Ustedes. In Spain, both are
used. Vosotros is the option for informal conversations, while ustedes is used in formal context. In
contrast, in Latin America you will always use ustedes to refer to a group. It does not matter if you are
talking to your friends, bosses, or your parents (Nagel). Subsequent the last point, we are going to
discuss Usted versus Tu versus vos. In Latin America, usted is more common to hear, but, once people
is getting more comfortable with each other, they may request you to use the tu form, which is
reserved for family and friends. But in some countries, such as Paraguay, El Salvador, Argentina and
Honduras they use vos instead of tu, which is equally informal. Same case in Spain, usted is reserved
for very formal situations. Instead, tu you can use it with younger people or informal

Racial Gap And Social Mobility
Talking of race or rather ethnicity in line with its effects in today s attainment of life chances and
opportunities by individuals for social mobility, we are prompted to conceptualize on matters
appertaining to civil rights of individuals in various fields ranging from job allocations, medical
attention, education, and distribution of resources. Social mobility refers to a tier in an open system of
social strata that involves movement of various categories of people in a societal set up and majorly
highlights issues to do with these people s status characteristics. The most pernicious racial divide in
the current world is in social mobility. This is in reference to the gap that coexists between a child
born white, and a child born black. Racial gaps today are rampant in various sectors and thus pose a
reflection of disproportionate representation of black families at the lower scale of income appendage
(de Souza Briggs, 37 42). The chances of moving up or down the family income ladder by race and
parent s quintile is unequal based on the skewed income distribution by race. A society can be in a
position of high absolute mobility and also low relative mobility. The availability of at least some
social mobility is key in providing conduits to greater equality in societies with high social inequality.
Social mobility however can typically be hypothesized in terms of its direction and distance based on
the quantity of the movement. There is complexity in trying to analyze the

Beowulf s strength is beyond any of human comparison and has allowed him to accomplish tasks that
would have obliterated lesser men and gain renown throughout the world. Beowulf s boasts of his
strength are not to be received as prideful or egotistical but rather as a true representation of his power
as Beowulf always fulfils his boasts. When Beowulf pledges to vanquish Grendel, he does not take it
lightly and tells Hrothgar and his wife, Wealhtheow, that ..I shall fulfil that purpose, prove myself with
a proud victory or meet my death here in the mead hall. (636 638), showing that he is prepared to die,
if needed, to defeat this hellish creature. Later that night, in his battle with Grendel, Beowulf showed

and allowed his to go on the offensive against a foe that had ravaged Heorot for years and thus
allowed him to fulfill his boast. Beowulf power is brought out in his recitation of his deeds and again
later actions against the mother of Grendel and a fire breathing dragon that threatens his home. In all

Examples Of Superiority In To Kill A Mockingbird
Have you ever wondered how people prove superiority? Superiority is when people try to prove to
others that they are superior. This is something that people think is a lot less common than it actually
is. It happens everyday and can have lifelong effects. Even though our society says that it does not
approve of those who judge someone by their skin color, religion, culture, age, or gender, people often
act out these prejudices with violent behavior because they want to prove their own superiority.
People of various cultures have tried to prove superiority violently. A good example of this is in Night

The factors in which contributed to the difficulties in sustaining log distant trade of the societies in

about how people of Micronesia used leaf kites to carry bait far out over the

In the British colonies of North America, geography determined almost all aspects of how they would develop. Questions like whether a colony would be agricultural or based on trade, what kind of immigrants would come to each region, which colonies would develop an economic backbone based off of slavery, how stable a colony would be, and what a colony s basic unit of local government can be answered by geography because it was the primary factor in shaping the development of these aspects of British North America in the seventeenth century. In the South, its geography lent itself to the large scale production of crops, which as a result required substantial amounts of labor to tend to large plantations and keep the South s economy running by keeping up with the European demand for crops like tobacco. This demand for labor was first filled by indentured servants, people who, for four to seven years, gave up their freedom in exchange for land once their indenture was over and a passage across the Atlantic. As soon as the death rates began to fall in the South began to fall though, slaves became the more profitable investment, and the switch from servitude to slavery occurred. The number of African slaves sold by British dealers swelled to 20,000 annually (Davidson, et al 67). Masters could expect their slaves to work for them for more than the four to seven years of a servant for nothing in return. On top of that, the masters would have ownership to the children that the slaves had. It was because of the large amounts of farmable land in the Southern colonies why slavery inevitably became indispensable to its economy (Davidson, et al 67). In the North though, because of its geography, large scale agriculture was impossible, so the need for large scale labor was not present as it was in the South. As a result, the north s settlements remained relatively homogenous (Davidson, et al 92) throughout the seventeenth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. What s Definition Of Intelligence And Tell Me What... 1. Please parse Wechsler s definition of intelligence and tell me what exactly did Wechsler mean? 2. How did he come to understand intelligence as he did? Intelligence is the aggregate or global capacity of the individual to act purposefully, to think rationally and to deal effectively with his environment (Wechsler, 1939 p. 3). Wechsler explains that it is global because it characterizes the individual s behavior as a whole, it is aggregate because it is composed of elements or abilities which are qualitatively differentiable. Wechsler further explains that intelligence is not just a sum of these abilities. Intelligent behavior is a result of the interaction of these abilities. Intelligent behavior can be determined by other factors than intellectual abilities, such as drive and incentive. An excess of any given ability may add relatively little to the effectiveness of a behavior as a whole. Wechsler differentiates between intelligence and intellectual abilities. Although intelligence is no mere sum of intellectual abilities, the only way we can evaluate it quantitatively is by the measurement of the various aspects of these abilities .(Wechsler, Wechsler conceptualization of intelligence had been influenced by Spearman who pioneered the concept of g as global intelligence. Although Spearman was reluctant to call g global intelligence, Wechsler pointed out that g does equal intelligence because it measured intellectual tasks exclusively. Spearman s g factor was the ... It was a time for creativity and it was a time of unity in nature and within themselves. During the Enlightenment, science and reason prevailed. Everything had set rules on how it should be and how people should act in their private and public lives. Truth was static and never changing until the Romantic Movement. Truth changed and was based on an individual s experience. Whereas during the Romantic period. Transcendentalists were people found during this time who, according to A Handbook to Literature, believed in finding truth within oneself where individuals could hear the voice of God. They believed each person should find his or her own path to walk with God instead of relying on an institution. This differed from the ideals of the Enlightenment in that during the Enlightenment, some believed that science was all the God one needed. Science was the place truth and knowledge was found, and there was no place in science for God. • 15. American Funding Of Nazi Eugenics American Funding of Nazi Eugenics Eugenics is a complex term that has been studied and discussed internationally and throughout the eras. A basic definition of eugenics is the scientific study of race improvement. The definition is then broken up into two different aspects, positive eugenics and negative eugenics. Positive eugenics is defined as improving a race by focusing on ways to increasing the better population. Incentives are given to those superior races or populations to have children and get married. On the other hand negative eugenics is decreasing the chances of the inferior race or population from having children. This type of negatives eugenics is trying to stop those who are determined on having inferior genes from passing on their inferior traits that would corrupt the population as a whole. The whole study of eugenics is based on the theory that the gene a person is born with determines their outcome in life. Using this theory some scientists are given a way to justify categorizing groups of people into superior or inferior classes based on race. The study of eugenics was discussed around the world having the main powers being in Great Britain, Germany, and the United States. Nazi Germany is one of the most notorious cases of eugenics being put into practice on a large scale. This group is called the American Colonization Society. If the support from local and state branches, churches, and federal government are contributing to provide funds to this cause, it is one way to prove that this is something that should happen. One reason for someone to oppose is because for the slaves that were born in America are more inclined to stay in the country they are from. This contribution could make the African Americans feel forced to move to a country they are not familiar with. All the slaves that have worked hard to build the land deserve the freedom where they are from. Others could say and believe that its true intent was to drain off the best of the free black population and preserve the institution of slavery. Finally, when people see that this plan could work it is going to cost money to buy substantial numbers of people for their freedom. This means that the price of enslaved people will increase and soon after this situation, it can create problems on how we are going to fund this contribution and who we are going to decide that will participate in this or not. To conclude, I completely agree with the American Anti Slavery contributing funds for colonization and allowing its name to be used in this effort. Former NFL official Jim Daopoulos, in an interview with ESPN on Monday morning, explained the process in which footballs are managed. Two hours and 15 minutes before each game, officials inspect 12 footballs from each team and put a mark on them to indicate they meet the proper requirements and are good for usage. Then those footballs are given to the ball attendant. There also is a second set of six footballs, used specifically for the kicking game, that are marked appropriately and remain in the possession of officials at all times. Officials check balls as they go into the game, and if the ball doesn t feel perfect, they can throw it out, Daopoulos said. There is always the possibility that balls can lose air due to the conditions. A team can be fined if it is found to be knowingly altering the weight of the football. The NFL s game operations manual states: Once the balls have left the locker room, no one, including players, equipment managers, ball boys, and coaches, is allowed to alter the footballs in any way. The BCS Code of Conduct seems to be based on Deontological Ethics as it states that it is an employee s duty to fulfil these guidelines. Firstly, an interest in the effect on the public is vital to the maintenance of ethics throughout a company. In a sense, a company cannot function properly without the support of the public. Whereas, Professional Competence and Integrity indicates that an employee should try to gain as much knowledge as possible to influence growth and improvement. However, this didn t stop Moira from continuing to rebel in whatever ways that she was able. She was the polar opposite of what the majority of the Handmaids were like, as all of the other Handmaids that have been introduced were seen to be very reserved and many had even accepted their new role in life. These characteristics were the exact opposite of Moira s, with her attempting to escape two times during her stint as a Handmaid. After Moira was caught during her first attempt at escape, she was tortured severely. This was done by using steel cables on both the feet and the hands, since these were seen as non essential parts of a Handmaid (91). Although she was caught quickly in her first attempt at escape, the beatings that she endured only fueled her desire to find a way out of this oppressive society even more. • 35. August Wilson s Century Cycle Analysis August Wilson has been called by many one of the best playwrights of all time. August Wilson s Century Cycle was sometimes referred to as the Pittsburgh Cycle. The Century Cycle has been acknowledged as one of August Wilson s greatest works. The Pittsburgh Cycle was his series of ten plays that charts the African American experience throughout the twentieth century. All of them were set in Pittsburgh s Hill District except for Ma Rainey s Black Bottom, which was set in Chicago (August Wilson). Each play was set in a different decade throughout the 20th century. These plays showed the changing social and historical landscape of black America over 100 years (10 Plays, 100 Years Playwright August Wilson Reveals the History of a Community (From the Playbill)). Wilson once said, I think the blues is the best literature that we as blacks have created since we ve been here, and it s a lot of philosophical ideas. I call it our sacred book (Dyson). This genre of music was created in the south of the United States by African Americans in the late 1800 s. The blues give lyrical shape to the hurts and affections that stymie and transform black life. The blues tap comedy to temper tragedy and to tame the absurd (Dyson). The blues music was popular among slaves living in the deep south. August Wilson stated around 20 years ago that he believes America doesn t need color blind casting. I don t think his opposition to color blind casting is racist. I agree with his reasoning behind his opinion to a certain extent. Wilson said that he opposes casting any blacks in roles written for whites and that it detracts from the humanity of the actor. Likewise, I would be opposed to casting whites in my plays (Shirley). However, I also agree with a statement made by Ambush saying he appreciates the historical underpinnings of his assumptions and his arguments. Nonetheless, Ambush believes that minority actors should be able to play roles designed for whites as long as it is color conscious or culture conscious casting instead of colorblind. According to this policy, directors can cast nontraditionally but should not pretend that an actor s race does not matter (Shirley). I think casting based on race depends on the role ... There are numerous variations of Spanish, of course, and a native speaker is expected to understand all those variations, but for a new learner it can be confusing, since each Spanish speaker country has their own accent, dialects, how to people address each other, and the way they conjugate the verbs. The purpose of this essay is contrast and compare the differences between European Spanish and Latin America Spanish when it comes about pronunciation, vocabulary, phonological differences and so on. The most notable difference is Ustedes vs Nosotros. European Spanish has two plural forms for the English you when address two or more people, which is Vosotros and Ustedes. In Spain, both are used. Vosotros is the option for informal conversations, while ustedes is used in formal context. In contrast, in Latin America you will always use ustedes to refer to a group. It does not matter if you are talking to your friends, bosses, or your parents (Nagel). Subsequent the last point, we are going to discuss Usted versus Tu versus vos. In Latin America, usted is more common to hear, but, once people is getting more comfortable with each other, they may request you to use the tu form, which is reserved for family and friends. But in some countries, such as Paraguay, El Salvador, Argentina and Honduras they use vos instead of tu, which is equally informal. Same case in Spain, usted is reserved for very formal situations. Racial Gap And Social Mobility Talking of race or rather ethnicity in line with its effects in today s attainment of life chances and opportunities by individuals for social mobility, we are prompted to conceptualize on matters appertaining to civil rights of individuals in various fields ranging from job allocations, medical attention, education, and distribution of resources. Social mobility refers to a tier in an open system of social strata that involves movement of various categories of people in a societal set up and majorly highlights issues to do with these people s status characteristics. The most pernicious racial divide in the current world is in social mobility. This is in reference to the gap that coexists between a child born white, and a child born black. Racial gaps today are rampant in various sectors and thus pose a reflection of disproportionate representation of black families at the lower scale of income appendage (de Souza Briggs, 37 42). The chances of moving up or down the family income ladder by race and parent s quintile is unequal based on the skewed income distribution by race. A society can be in a position of high absolute mobility and also low relative mobility. The availability of at least some social mobility is key in providing conduits to greater equality in societies with high social inequality. Social mobility however can typically be hypothesized in terms of its direction and distance based on the quantity of the movement. There is complexity in trying to analyze the ... The earliest known account of kite flying was around 200 B.C. when the General Han Hsin of the Han Dynasty flew a kite over the walls of a city him and his troops were attacking to see how far his army would have to travel to reach past the enemies defenses. Kite flying was soon spread by Chinese Kitestraders from China to Korea, and through Asia to India. As it spread, people developed new ways of lying them and reasons for flying them.
