The 2012 Global Financial Crisis
Introduction
The 2008 Global Financial Crisis (GFC) was the worst crisis in history, and has wide range and deep
effects on the world financial system and relations (Peihani 2012). The vulnerability of the world
financial system was exposed from the 2008 GFC (Mohamed 2011). Hence, countries are trying to
find a solution for the heavily market relied global financial system, and protectionism has drawn the
attention from a great portion of countries and researchers (Viju and Kerr 2011). Mohanmed (2011)
defines protectionism as to support domestic production development, and protect it from global
competitions, normally through the methods of Quota and Tariff.

The Congress started to increase the rate of tariff ever since, and reached its peak in 1828 of the rate of
nearly 49%. Moreover, after experiencing few ups and downs from 1832 to 1842, the Congress started
to decrease the rate of tariff from 1846 to 1857, to the average rate of 20%. The raise of tariff was
mean to protect the local production of goods manufactured from wool, iron, hemp, lead, and glass;
however, the tariff didn t achieve its goal of promote domestic infant industries (Bruce 1998).
Although the tariffs haven t treated the American well, however the Republicans was insists on
embrace protectionism. Moreover, America citizens were also opposed free trade due to the fact that
protectionism could restrict imports and lower the unemployment rate (Bruce 2011). Benjamin
Harrison defeated Grover Cleveland in the election of 1888, and passed the McKinley tariff in 1890
(Bruce 1998). The protectionists were arguing that not only infant industries need protections, but also
mature industries. Furthermore, due to the fact that tariff was the principal source of revenue for the
federal government (Bruce 1998), the Congress often avoid to use tariff for protectionist purpose,
which might reduce the number of import and less the revenues (Bruce 2011). The situation has turned
around since President William Howard created federal income tax (Bruce 1998), and it has soon
replaced the tariff to became the principle revenue of U.S.

Galinese Cockfight Analysis
In comparing Zora Neale Hurston s Of Mules and Men and Clifford Geertz s Balinese Cockfight a
direct difference between insider verses outsider is portrayed. Hurston s approach of going back and
immersing herself into the culture she grew up in and Geertz s approach of immersing himself into a
foreign culture results in a clear distinction in their ethnographic approach, focus of observation and
consequently their findings.
The ethnographic approach taken by both Zora Neale Hurston and Clifford Geertz is that of
participant observation. Both Hurston and Geertz immerse themselves in the culture they have chosen
to study. Although this is a clear similarity in the two texts both authors go about it in different
manners. Geertz is also seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Geertz recognised that he and his wife were outsiders to the rest of the Balinese people until they ran
away from the authorities at the cockfight. The cockfight therefore forms the turning point in Geertz s
research as thereafter he was welcomed by the Balinese people because they saw him running away as
a form of solidarity with the Balinese people. This event formed the beginning of Geertz s actual
participant observation of cockfights and his fascination with the connection between cockfights and
the Balinese village society. Geertz s in depth description of cockfighting and all that comes with it
gives insight into the amount of field research he did. From the gambling aspect to the structured rules
we get a clear idea of extensive research done.
In a broad comparison between Hurston and Geertz s there are distinct differences in their approach to
the focus of their observation and the manner they went about achieving the aims of their research.
Hurston was studying her own culture and therefore had an insider s perspective going into her study
whereas Geertz entered a foreign culture with an outsider s

Input, Output, and Connectivity Input, output, and connectivity are some of the most important
considerations to make when choosing a computer. Without input and output our computers would not
be able to function as they properly should, therefore making decisions on these sections are an
important part in choosing a computer. In my last paper I broke down the main operating factors to
consider when shopping for a computer: CPU, auxiliary storage, and RAM. These were the heart of
the computer, but now we have to decide on the functionality that can be represented through input
and output options. Through this paper we are going to try and rule out the obsolete ... Show more

Bluetooth keyboards are so convenient to have as they help make the general experience more
efficient, and they save space; having wires hanging all over the place is very inconvenient when
considering portability and function. Also the keyboard would have to be pretty large, as it is much
easier to type papers on a large keyboard. To go along with the size of the keyboard, it should also be
back lit. There are many times when it is more comfortable to work in the dark, and without a back lit
keyboard typing in the dark is going to be a major strain on your eyes and patience. To re cap, the type
of keyboard that I would choose would have to be comfortable to type on, have a back lit keyboard,
and in the case of not being already attached to the PC I would want to be connected via Bluetooth.
The next type of input that I would consider for my PC is a computer mouse. This is another very
important piece of equipment, and a lot of times it is one of the under considered pieces when it comes
to choosing input equipment. There are not a lot of different types of mice to compare and consider,
but choosing the right type of mouse is going to be an important factor in how much enjoyment and
efficiency that you are going to receive from your PC. There are three different types of basic
computer mice: optical mouse, mechanical mouse, and Infrared or radio wave cordless mouse. A
mechanical mouse has a ball attached inside of the bottom of the base, when the mouse is

The Role Of The Social Worker
A dignified life is the undeniable right to all members of a community. Regrettably, their is a sizable
population of individuals who have difficulty accessing resources that could potentially enhance their
opportunity for self determination. Basic human needs and services catalyze dignity and self
determination. The role of the social worker is quintessential in connecting individuals in need with
helpful and life altering resources. Social workers have the difficult task of developing institutional
knowledge of resources and services associated with their field. The task is further compounded with
ever changing institutional policies. However, resource allocation is just a one part of the social work
profession. Every client has a distinctive need and set of circumstances which require careful
inspection. Social workers engage in dynamic problem solving and individual analysis to determine
the proper recourse for each and every individual client. Analysis, research, and interviews are
paramount in understanding the needs of every client. Aside from an individual evaluation, social
workers need to determine the greater conditional forces. Part of the dynamic process is understanding
the socio economic aspect that contributes to inequity. Understanding diversity and socio economic
challenges of various group provides context from which the individual s issues complications can be
better assessed. The entirety of this analysis provides an individual with their own

The World with Journalism
Career Research Project Essay
Without journalism, we would not be living the life we have today. At the end of the 20th Century
there was a poll on what was the greatest invention of the last millennium. The top invention was the
printing press invented by Guttenberg. The reason for the selection was the written word preserved
knowledge. Prior to this everything we learned was passed by word of mouth. Many disasters and
disease caused knowledge to be lost. Essentially mankind had to relearn things over and over again.
Journalism has been around since before the printing press was even invented. People have always,
naturally spread information. There were many peoples who had elders who would give the oral
history of their people and who would tell heroic tales. Homer told the story of the Iliad for the
Greeks. African chiefs told tales of bravery of their peoples. The same occurred throughout the World
from the American Indians, the Mayas and Aztec to the Aboriginals of Australia. Journalism is the
passing of knowledge and ideas between people.
From the creation of the printing press and Gutenberg s Bible, print journalism evolved to include
included reporting in newspapers, magazines and anything else that is printed. Print journalism later
expanded to broadcast journalism, photojournalism, gonzo journalism and many other forms of
journalism.
For example there are reporters who report news. This type of journalism can be news reporting for

The Success Of The City
A person would think that with all of the money this company has earned, we would have a better
view of the city. He thought to himself as he sat in the outer office and stared out of the windows
while he waited for his 8:30 A.M. meeting with the boss. The Boss secretarial assistant, at her desk on
the other side of the room, typed quickly on her computer keyboard and answered the phones as he
shifted his position in the chair and uncrossed his legs.
Thinking about the company he worked for, He thought, We were the largest and only newspaper still
being published daily here in DC. That fact gave us the ability to boast that we have enough coupons
printed in our Sunday edition alone, that the average subscriber would be able to save enough money
to pay for the weekly subscription of the daily home delivery and have something left over. Sure, the
popularity of the Internet, with it s on line coupons, and special sales ads were cutting into our bottom
line, but where else could one find the personal touch of a local reporter. One who is from here and
lives here and understand the dynamics of the culture and politics of the residents of this world famous
city. We don t just print the Pre written stories that come down the pipe from the giant news agencies.
They all seem to sound the same, without any of the Flavor of our local community. The stories that

endangered by wwf (world wide fund for nature) and endangered by lucn (International Union for
Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources)
Description: it is called leatherback sea turtle because of its tough and leather like shell, it has four
limbs, can grow up to 180 cm long and weigh up to 500 kg, out of the 7 different types of sea turtles it

On the other hand the negative impacts are that the Jellyfish population will increase and this is bad
because jellyfish consume large amounts of fish larvae (baby fish) and without the leatherback sea

Beach/dunes vegetation will decrees because there will be no eggs to give it nutrients and this is
important because Beach/dunes ecosystems get very little nutrients and they need the nutrients to
grow plants and keep the soil in place thus there will be an increase in soil erosion. Unmaintained
seagrass beds are amongst the negative impacts that would occur should the leatherback sea turtles
become extinct. Maintained seagrass beds are important because many species of fish, shellfish and
crustaceans live and bred there so if there were no leatherback sea turtle to do this many species of
fish, shellfish and crustaceans that live and breed there would die and the population would decrees. If

The Issue Of Capital Punishment Essay
Today, one of the most debated issues in the Criminal Justice System is the issue of capital punishment
or the death penalty. Having said that, crime is imminent. We could have an unexpected encounter
with a criminal committing crime on a daily. Criminals have become a part of our daily lives. Does
this mean we should let them prevail in our society? No, absolutely not. Eliminating crime and
criminals is our duty, and we must not ignore it. Getting the rightly accused to a just punishment is
very important. Some criminals commit a crime because they have no other option to survive, but
some do it for fun. I do not advocate death penalty for everybody. A person, who stole a piece of
clothing from a department store, definitely does not deserve the death penalty. However, a serial
killer, who kills people just because or for malicious reasons, definitely deserves the death penalty.
The death penalty should continue, in order to eliminate the garbage out of our society. Not everybody
deserves to die, but some people definitely do. I support the death penalty for several reasons.
Primarily, I believe that the death penalty serves as a deterrent and assists with reducing crime.
Moreover, the death penalty assures safety to our society by eliminating these criminals.
As stated in our text, deterrence is a sentencing goal or a crime prevention strategy that seeks to inhibit
criminal behavior in either the offender (specific deterrence) or in the others (general deterrence by

STRENGTHENING RETENTION, IMPROVING INCLUSION AND EXPANDING COVERAGE
IN HEALTHY FEEDING PROGRAMS ACROSS TEXAS DISTRICTS This letter seeks to provide a
detailed exposition of a multi faceted aspect of the challenge of food insecurity in Texas and a
proposal of clear cut practical solutions. The hope is that through the publication of this piece, the
issue will assume centre stage and attract the needed response. Over the years, notable healthy feeding
intervention programs across different government and community levels have been channelled to
Texas in response to the much documented challenge of widespread food insecurity across the state.
These programs have contributed in varying degrees to mitigating the crisis of food insecurity in the
state (Children at Risk, 2016). However, progress in retention of beneficiaries and expansion of
coverage has remained a real challenge. For there to be a sustained substantial reversal of food
insecurity in Texas, a clear determination backed by concrete plans to remove obstacles to continued
coverage and expansion for further inclusion must be prioritized. It is important to renew critical focus
on the devastating impact of food insecurity and its vast spread in the United States in

Declaration Of The Rights Of Man And Citizen Essay
Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen is a
direct response to the ignorance of the two other estates and the King. At the beginning of the French
Revolution, the people taking part had a good idea of what they want in the new form of government
they are demanding. They wanted more rights, less restriction, and an equal voice in everything from
day to day operations, all the way up to the Estates General. So, when they piled up all of their ideas
into one document, they were able to muster a declaration much like the one created by the Americans
earlier in 1776. Prior to the revolution the third estate, which included the bourgeoisie and all the
commoners in France, was very upset that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a direct response the the ignorance of the two other estates because it is giving the third estate

the right to religious freedom, No one is to be disquieted because of his opinion, even religious, before
this christianity held all the power, it was the first estate, now all regions are aloud. So, if they were to
keep the estate system, now the first estate would consist of the clergy from christianity and
representative from other religions. The Declaration also gives rights to those who have been
convicted of a crime, every man is presumed innocent until declared guilty . Before this the king
would say you are going to prison, or you are going the be drawn and quartered, because all those who
are convicted receive the same rights they did before they were arrested until they are convicted. I feel
that The Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen truly is a direct response to the blatant ignorance of
the two estates and king based of

the Lesser Antilles from a well defined Atlantic tropical wave in that area, and became Tropical Storm
Irene on August 20, 2011. Irene reached its highest point as a 120 mph Category 3 hurricane. Irene
was ranked the seventh costliest hurricane with damages that cost around $15.6 billion in the United

examine, manage, and present all types of geographical data. In order to use the GIS they first had to

from the six hourly positions of Irene were entered into the GIS and the points were then transformed
into a line feature. This line feature represents Irene s track and it was buffered by 200 kilometers to
allow for the tropical cyclones to be analyzed in this study region. The tropical cyclones that were

William F. Buckley, American people everywhere have refrained from trying to rectify irrational
vexations . In Buckley s essay, Why Don t We Complain? he explains some situations that he was
involved in where no one would complain to repair an uncomfortable situation. Throughout the essay,
Buckley uses his experiences and strong reasoning to show why he believes that the American people

Should people be afraid to complain or should they always be free minded about an unjust cause? The
second reason why I agree with Buckley s ideas about assertiveness and helplessness is because
throughout time many inventions are that replace simple jobs that cause a sense of laziness. The
people will often portray themselves as lazy in society as new technological inventions are created to
do their tasks. Many people will then develop a habit due to them relying on other things to do their
task for them. For example, back then when machines weren t created, people did manual labor and
relied on themselves, but now as we rely on newly made machines; we rely on the equipment to do
our work. This forms a habit for Americans as we begin to rely on other things than ourselves. The
third reason why I agree with Buckley s ideas about assertiveness and helplessness is shown through
as Buckley states that the government is taking rights away from the people. He states, Every year,
whether the Republican or the Democratic Party is in office, more and more power drains away from
the individual to feed vast reservoirs in far off places; and we have less and less say about the shape of
events which shape our future . He also says that we accept the government s power to hold upon us .
The government is responsible for the great number of American deaths in Korea and is now
responsible for billions of tax dollars spent every year. However,

Needing a Smartphone Today

Apple was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne on April 1, 1976. The first
iPhone was announced on January 9, 2007 at the MacWorld convection in San Francisco, California.
In the late 1970 s, Steve Jobs alongside co founder Steven Wozniak s introduced the first Apple

until 1984, where the first advertisement for Apple s Macintosh computer came into great success. In
April 2003, Job s expressed his beliefs that tablet PCs were not good choices as high demand markets

Meeting Of Linden Knoll Condominium Units Owners
Bob,
Your March 5 dated Notice of Meeting of Linden Knoll Condominium Units Owners had as it stated
purpose a single agenda item: Budget vote to ratify or reject the Operating Budget Fiscal Year June 1,
2016 to May 31, 2017 .
Subsequently, on Friday, March 11, 2016 another Notice of Homeowner Budget Meeting was posted
on the townhouse bulletin board, listing a different agenda to include: HVAC upgrades phase 3
(buildings 3 and 4), Elevator upgrades engineer VTX, Townhouse Roof proposal update, Ongoing
Assessment, Budget 2016 2017 Operating budget ratification of budget adopted by Council on

The meeting was called to order and a Roll Call of Council Members taken, presumably to determine
the presence of a quorum of Council. What was the purpose for the Roll Call if this was a unit owners
meeting? The meeting then proceeded with discussions of the HVAC phase 3 upgrade cost ($94,880)
and the elevator engineer phase 1 and 2 costs, $4,662 and $8,609 respectively. With respect to each
separate item motions were made, seconded and passed by Council to authorize these expenditures. At
no time was input on these motions sought from homeowners.
Next, some comments were made about the townhouse roofs but no action was taken. Recollection is

The Outcasts Of Poker Flat Analysis
In Bret Harte s The Outcasts of Poker Flat (1869), the mining camp of Poker Flat believes the only
way to become a town is to banish a group of people called the ¨outcasts¨. However, many of the steps
taken to get rid of this group are just as wicked as the crimes committed by the outcasts . Through
conflicts between different groups of people, the story conveys the theme that hypocrisy leads to the
realization of truth. Some of the main hypocritical events in The Outcasts of Poker Flat are when the
townsfolk want to rob Oakhurst, when Oakhurst helps Tom Simson, and when the Duchess and Piney

gambler and a careless gambler reveal John Oakhurst s true identity as a kind, caring man. The third
conflict in the story is between lustful women and innocent women. The Duchess, who represents the
lustful woman, and Piney, who represents the innocent woman, are found dead in each other s arms at
the end of the story. Harte writes, when pitying fingers brushed the snow from their wan faces, you
could scarcely have told them from the equal peace that dwelt upon them (8). This event is extremely
hypocritical in that a prostitute and a virginal woman, who would not typically be associated with each
other, cannot be told apart from one another. This exposes the truth about death; that all are equal. The
main hypocritical events in The Outcasts of Poker Flat reveal identities as well as ideas about death.
From this analysis, it is shown that not everything is at it appears. These actions reinforce the theme in
that hypocrisy leads to the realization of

Literary Analysis Of To Homer By John Keats
Homer had a way of illustrating the natural world in exquisite detail. To him, the irregular shapes and
bold colors that surrounded him told stories only he could fathom. No one could have guessed that
Homer was blind. Every reader makes a choice to either read the top layer of his work and visualize
what their brain desires, or absorb the creativity and stand in the middle of his flamboyant visions, not
realizing that they have been changed forever. John Keats expresses how Homer s writing had a way
of healing his own ignorance, and changing his life from the moment he read it. Keats writes about
how he was most definitely not the same person he was before his exposure to Homer. The poem, To
Homer by John Keats explicates the idea that although Homer was physically blind, he enabled a man
blind with ignorance (Keats), to see the world through his literature.
The first part of the poem explains Keats ignorance before reading, as well as the greek gods revealing
elements of sky, sea, and land to Homer and then Keats. The first few lines express how Keats was
ignorant because of him not understanding Homer s writing. Later he explains how he has heard of
Homer, and how Homer wants to see, dolphin coral in deep seas. The importance of mentioning coral
here is that coral is known for its bright colors and funky shapes, something one can only witness with
their eyes, which Homer wishes he was able to. Then, Keats blatantly mentions how Homer is blind,
but then says, the

Case Analysis Of Hulu
Introduction
For the past ten years, Hulu has been among the most competitive online streaming services.
Beginning as a joint venture created by 21st Century Fox and NBCUniversal to distribute their
television programming over the Internet, (Harvard 2017) Hulu has expanded generously, offering the
four largest broadcasting networks. In the wake of a new television era, Hulu has the potential to serve
as a Multichannel Video Programming Distributor (MVPD). The following write up includes an
analysis of Hulu s current market standings, including an investigation of growth statistics as well as
the company s overall marketing situation.

Although competition has begun delving into the realm of original programming, Netflix, Amazon,
and HBO have spent millions of dollars to create original content for their subscribers. Hulu should
have saved the money allocated to original programming and relied on the content created by the
entertainment giants that created it, 21st Century Fox and NBCUniversal. With live streaming
subscriptions available, Hulu has already differentiated itself from most of its direct competition. They
should have established a stronger position in the brand new market of alternative live streaming

Elder Assessment Findings General Assessment General assessment of Mr. McKay raises a few red

takers are neglecting to tend to him on a more frequent basis. Pre albumin and albumin are used to
interpret individual s nutritional status. Mr. McKay s pre albumin was within a normal range with 16.0
to 35.0 mg per dL being the norm (Beck Rosenthal, 2002). His albumin level, used to monitor long

Children At A Local Fitness Center
For my observations, I interviewed Penny who teaches gymnastics to children at a local fitness center.
She teaches classes every Friday and Saturday to children ranging from 2 14 years old. I observed her
multiple times and recorded 6 hours of observations. After talking to Penny Lane, I found out she did
gymnastics as a child at her local fitness center. She was a student for there for about 8 years, while
growing up. Then while she was in high school she was asked to teach for students at her fitness
center. She enjoyed it so much that when she moved up to Bellingham, she asked the fitness center in
town if she could teach some lessons. At the time, no one was teaching gymnastics and the fitness
center said that she could teach. She was able to create her own lesson plans and has been working at
this location for 2 years. This is how she was able to get involved with this type of work. She did
mention a few struggles with the job such as the fitness center does not have a lot of funding and that
sometimes hinders the lessons and she explained that older students tend to drop out and go
somewhere else. When I asked her how she felt about her work she said that it was easy and fun. She
really enjoys working with kids and feels comfortable teaching gymnastics. She wants to keep this job
throughout her schooling because she wants to be an elementary school teacher once she graduates
from college. She doesn t make very much money so, I would say based off of my observations

Homework Assignment Analysis
Writing has always been a passion of mine. I love sitting and putting my thoughts on paper. I make
lists, write God letters, send people cards, and pour my thoughts and feelings out through the scribble
of a pen. Since I love to write, I am always encouraging my grandkids to write as well. I have found
that journaling is a great way for us to spend time together sharing ideas. It also gives me a chance to
learn what they are thinking and feeling.
Be excited about this new adventure and let the child know it is a big deal not just another homework
assignment. Start with a trip to the store and let your grandchild pick out the journal or note book that
they would like to use for this particular project. I think a special pen is also an important part of
writing in the journal. It might have a fun ink color or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seeing you write in your journal sets an example for them and can also peak their interest. Another
benefit of working on the journal together, at least in the beginning, is that you can help the child
arrange their thoughts and coach them along as they attempt to put them on paper. My rule is spelling;
grammar and punctuation are not being graded so the child is free to be creative without fear of being
judged for their mistakes.
There are many different styles of journals these days, but I prefer the ones that are not dated. If the
child gets busy and skips a few days it can be discouraging to go back and start writing again. If there
is no date no big deal just start writing. I do recommend that you start each new entry with a date; this
will help in years to come to remember when you wrote the entry.
Personal diaries or journals are a fun way of recording things going on in your life. Encourage your
little writers to put down how they are feeling; what makes them happy or sad and special people they
have interacted

Comparing Hughes s Essay The Negro Artists And The Racial...
In his essay The Negro Artists and the Racial Mountain, Langston Hughes shared his thoughts with
the readers regarding racial identity. He believed that every individual should be proud of who they
are and stand by their race. The idea of passing would be considered extremely offensive and even an
action of betrayal by him. Instead of following the steps of the socially superior group whites in this
case, Hughes suggested that the minority groups need to stay true to them selves and their culture, and
they need to united and fight for their rights. It is only through doing so that the minority groups can
rise up to the equal of the superior group, not by submitting to it. His arguments are reflected in Nella
Larsen s Passing through the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his essay, Hughes suggested that one should never to fear his/her identity, and never to be
ashamed of it. He ends one of his paragraphs with a very powerful statement: Why should I want to be
white? I am a Negro and beautiful. (The Negro Artists and the Racial Mountain). In the novel, this
idea is again challenged by Clare, who represented the opposite of what Hughes stood for. Clare was
in fear. She was always in fear, because she was not who she claimed to be. Clare wanted to enjoy
rights she did not have, but yet she did not wish to fight for it. Clare was always in fear, because she
had chosen to join the enemy . She married a man that bare hatred to her race, and ignored her own
people for years. In order to be able to live the life she had, she cut all ties with her family, and finally
connected with them after she accidentally ran into Irene. But she was still not onboard with Hughes
ideas by then. Even thought Clare discovered her longing for her other identity and people, she
initially did not wish to give up her other life either. She acted among the black community in a
secretive way, which is due to her fear of being recognized. However, many from her own community
would probably share the same feelings as Hughes would have, a sense of betrayal and ashamed for
Clare for she can not face her true self. Thus, Clare was caught in between the fear of her identity
being compromised by the whites, and also the fear of the despise from her own people. Clare lived a
double life, but yet neither life truly belonged to her. She thought she could be part of something she is
not, but Clare ended up getting caught in between, losing both. She was no longer part of either group,
and she feared the disapprove of her identity from both groups because of her

DI does not thwarts teacher creativity through the teacher student interaction guided by scripts in the
Teacher Presentation books. In fact, DI requires a great deal of teacher creativity in attending to the
needs and progress of all students and in designing expansion activities. Many educational
professionals see that DI focuses only on basic or rote skills, but on the contrary, DI curricula quickly
moves from foundational skills to very high level concepts and cognitive strategies. The last most
common action as to why DI is disliked by teachers and students is due to the lack of knowledge of
the workability, ease, and accommodating criteria that allows teacher and students to excel in all areas.

October 13, 2014
The blood in the body is made up of many different components. The components of the blood include
red blood cells, plasma, and platelets, each having a specific function. In this paper I will explain the
difference between the three and the specific function they carry out within the human body, as well as
how the relate to the scenarios in this week s assignment. Red blood cells are the most needed of the
three components. Basically, the main purpose of red blood cells is to transport oxygen throughout the
body (BloodSource, 2014). A person who is experiencing extreme blood loss would definitely need
red blood cells in order to survive. The liquid part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iron deficiency anemia is due to an insufficient amount of iron (Mayo Clinic, 2014). If there is a lack
of iron the body cannot produce enough substance in red blood cells in order to transport oxygen
(Mayo Clinic, 2014). As with any condition there are always symptoms. The symptoms for iron
deficiency anemia includes extreme fatigue, pale skin, weakness, shortness of breath, chest pains,
frequent infections, headaches, dizziness, cold and feet, poor appetite and the list goes on (Mayo
Clinic, 2014). All of Lily s symptoms can be compared with the ones that I just mentioned. Despite the
symptoms iron deficiency anemia can usually be corrected with iron supplements. However, it is
important that Lily s mother takes her to see a doctor so that she can be properly diagnosed before
giving her any types of supplements. There maybe be other test or treatments that the doctor may want
to perform. Next there is Davon, a 5 year old African American male who carries the sickle cell trait.

odd puggle. I was only 2, but I have heard the story one too many times. So I feel as if the memory is

Living in Michigan, we are exposed to snow; a lot of it; so having my siblings home due to a typical
winter storm was not unusual. However, this day proved to be the exception.
I remember sitting at the kitchen table staring into space. My Mom was calling Lucy our little Puggle
inside. My mom was afraid she might be lost in the snow .
Joey! Could you see if Lucy is in the front? She was playing with Finn so... mom s voice trailed off.

Gram Staining Lab Report
This week in Lab 3 we will be discussing and practicing simple and gram stains. Staining is the
process of making bacteria visible to isolate and experiment with. Staining helps to show the bacteria
in a color so it is no longer clear by increasing the contrast of the specific organism. Staining is used in
the medical field not just to look at bacteria and cultures but also for diagnostic purposes. It can be
used to highlight certain tissues and even specific parts within a tissue. There are many different types
of staining, including: Acid fast staining ( Ziehl Neelson Technique), Acridine orange stain, Auramine
Rhodamine technique, Calcofluor white stain, Capsule stain, Cytoplasmic inclusion stain, Endospore

The smear concentration will directly affect the gram results by making a false positive or false
negative gram positive stain. Take the slide smears and put them in crystal violet solution for one
minute. Rinse all of the stain off with water. After all the water has been removed from the slide, place
it in the mordant which is Grams iodine solution. A mordant is an inorganic oxide that chemically
reacts with the dye and affixes to the cell. Rinse the solution off with water the same way we did
before and then place the slide in a decolorizing agent for 10 12 seconds. As not to wait for a long
time, rinse this off with water as well. Waiting to wash the decolorizing solution off will clear all the
dye of off the previously dyed cells. Put the slide in the counter stain safranin for one minute and rinse
with water. Place the slide on bibulous paper and wipe an access water of the slide being careful not to
disrupt the bacterial culture. Now that the slide is done, put it under the microscope with an oil
immersion to view under 100x magnification. Gram positive bacteria is blue or purple and gram
negative bacteria is red or

Bret Easton Ellis Essay
Bret Easton Ellis is one of the great American writers of our time. Some of his famous works include
his debut novel, Less Than Zero (1985), and his opus, American Psycho (1991), which are household
names for any literary or cinematic buff. Although the man behind the mask may not be identifiable
by all, almost everybody knows the name Patrick Bateman, and recognizes the famous role played by
actor Christian Bale. Although Ellis literary prose might lead you to believe he was a dedicated
scholar, his extracurricular activities would definitely prove you wrong. He was actually known for
partying, sex, and drugs, the hamartia of almost every human. That exact humanness shows itself in
his style, which is harsh, honest, and borderline sordid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was at the young age of twenty one that he wrote his first book, called Less Than Zero, which
centers around a main character who returns home one day to discover his girlfriend addicted to
cocaine. The novel explains in detail the effect of drugs on individuals, and the darker parts of life.
Less Than Zero was Ellis debut novel, and it quickly rocketed him to fame. The success of his first
book provided him with enough momentum to release his second novel, American Psycho. Although
this would become known as his most famous work, at the time it made him a leper to the literary
population. The level of violence and brutality caused people to condemn his work, and it wasn t
really until the movie adaptation that it gained acclaim. After that his career skyrocketed. In addition
to drafting more novels, he wrote screenplays for movies such as The Informers and The Canyons,
directed films like The Deleted, All That Glitters, and Orpheus, and was an actor and producer. There

  • 2. The 2012 Global Financial Crisis Introduction The 2008 Global Financial Crisis (GFC) was the worst crisis in history, and has wide range and deep effects on the world financial system and relations (Peihani 2012). The vulnerability of the world financial system was exposed from the 2008 GFC (Mohamed 2011). Hence, countries are trying to find a solution for the heavily market relied global financial system, and protectionism has drawn the attention from a great portion of countries and researchers (Viju and Kerr 2011). Mohanmed (2011) defines protectionism as to support domestic production development, and protect it from global competitions, normally through the methods of Quota and Tariff. This paper is going to expand the findings of my previous briefing paper about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Congress started to increase the rate of tariff ever since, and reached its peak in 1828 of the rate of nearly 49%. Moreover, after experiencing few ups and downs from 1832 to 1842, the Congress started to decrease the rate of tariff from 1846 to 1857, to the average rate of 20%. The raise of tariff was mean to protect the local production of goods manufactured from wool, iron, hemp, lead, and glass; however, the tariff didn t achieve its goal of promote domestic infant industries (Bruce 1998). Although the tariffs haven t treated the American well, however the Republicans was insists on embrace protectionism. Moreover, America citizens were also opposed free trade due to the fact that protectionism could restrict imports and lower the unemployment rate (Bruce 2011). Benjamin Harrison defeated Grover Cleveland in the election of 1888, and passed the McKinley tariff in 1890 (Bruce 1998). The protectionists were arguing that not only infant industries need protections, but also mature industries. Furthermore, due to the fact that tariff was the principal source of revenue for the federal government (Bruce 1998), the Congress often avoid to use tariff for protectionist purpose, which might reduce the number of import and less the revenues (Bruce 2011). The situation has turned around since President William Howard created federal income tax (Bruce 1998), and it has soon replaced the tariff to became the principle revenue of U.S. ... • 3. Galinese Cockfight Analysis In comparing Zora Neale Hurston s Of Mules and Men and Clifford Geertz s Balinese Cockfight a direct difference between insider verses outsider is portrayed. Hurston s approach of going back and immersing herself into the culture she grew up in and Geertz s approach of immersing himself into a foreign culture results in a clear distinction in their ethnographic approach, focus of observation and consequently their findings. The ethnographic approach taken by both Zora Neale Hurston and Clifford Geertz is that of participant observation. Both Hurston and Geertz immerse themselves in the culture they have chosen to study. Although this is a clear similarity in the two texts both authors go about it in different manners. Geertz is also seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Geertz recognised that he and his wife were outsiders to the rest of the Balinese people until they ran away from the authorities at the cockfight. The cockfight therefore forms the turning point in Geertz s research as thereafter he was welcomed by the Balinese people because they saw him running away as a form of solidarity with the Balinese people. This event formed the beginning of Geertz s actual participant observation of cockfights and his fascination with the connection between cockfights and the Balinese village society. Geertz s in depth description of cockfighting and all that comes with it gives insight into the amount of field research he did. From the gambling aspect to the structured rules we get a clear idea of extensive research done. In a broad comparison between Hurston and Geertz s there are distinct differences in their approach to the focus of their observation and the manner they went about achieving the aims of their research. Hurston was studying her own culture and therefore had an insider s perspective going into her study whereas Geertz entered a foreign culture with an outsider s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Using Information Technology For A Computer Stephen Bond 11/15/15 Using Information Technology Professor Kenneth Lee Input, Output, and Connectivity Input, output, and connectivity are some of the most important considerations to make when choosing a computer. Without input and output our computers would not be able to function as they properly should, therefore making decisions on these sections are an important part in choosing a computer. In my last paper I broke down the main operating factors to consider when shopping for a computer: CPU, auxiliary storage, and RAM. These were the heart of the computer, but now we have to decide on the functionality that can be represented through input and output options. Through this paper we are going to try and rule out the obsolete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bluetooth keyboards are so convenient to have as they help make the general experience more efficient, and they save space; having wires hanging all over the place is very inconvenient when considering portability and function. Also the keyboard would have to be pretty large, as it is much easier to type papers on a large keyboard. To go along with the size of the keyboard, it should also be back lit. There are many times when it is more comfortable to work in the dark, and without a back lit keyboard typing in the dark is going to be a major strain on your eyes and patience. To re cap, the type of keyboard that I would choose would have to be comfortable to type on, have a back lit keyboard, and in the case of not being already attached to the PC I would want to be connected via Bluetooth. The next type of input that I would consider for my PC is a computer mouse. This is another very important piece of equipment, and a lot of times it is one of the under considered pieces when it comes to choosing input equipment. There are not a lot of different types of mice to compare and consider, but choosing the right type of mouse is going to be an important factor in how much enjoyment and efficiency that you are going to receive from your PC. There are three different types of basic computer mice: optical mouse, mechanical mouse, and Infrared or radio wave cordless mouse. A mechanical mouse has a ball attached inside of the bottom of the base, when the mouse is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Regrettably, their is a sizable population of individuals who have difficulty accessing resources that could potentially enhance their opportunity for self determination. Basic human needs and services catalyze dignity and self determination. The role of the social worker is quintessential in connecting individuals in need with helpful and life altering resources. Social workers have the difficult task of developing institutional knowledge of resources and services associated with their field. The task is further compounded with ever changing institutional policies. However, resource allocation is just a one part of the social work profession. Every client has a distinctive need and set of circumstances which require careful inspection. Social workers engage in dynamic problem solving and individual analysis to determine the proper recourse for each and every individual client. Analysis, research, and interviews are paramount in understanding the needs of every client. Aside from an individual evaluation, social workers need to determine the greater conditional forces. • 6. The World with Journalism Career Research Project Essay Without journalism, we would not be living the life we have today. At the end of the 20th Century there was a poll on what was the greatest invention of the last millennium. The top invention was the printing press invented by Guttenberg. The reason for the selection was the written word preserved knowledge. Prior to this everything we learned was passed by word of mouth. Many disasters and disease caused knowledge to be lost. Essentially mankind had to relearn things over and over again. Journalism has been around since before the printing press was even invented. People have always, naturally spread information. There were many peoples who had elders who would give the oral history of their people and who would tell heroic tales. Homer told the story of the Iliad for the Greeks. African chiefs told tales of bravery of their peoples. The same occurred throughout the World from the American Indians, the Mayas and Aztec to the Aboriginals of Australia. Journalism is the passing of knowledge and ideas between people. From the creation of the printing press and Gutenberg s Bible, print journalism evolved to include included reporting in newspapers, magazines and anything else that is printed. Print journalism later expanded to broadcast journalism, photojournalism, gonzo journalism and many other forms of journalism. For example there are reporters who report news. The Boss secretarial assistant, at her desk on the other side of the room, typed quickly on her computer keyboard and answered the phones as he shifted his position in the chair and uncrossed his legs. Sure, the popularity of the Internet, with it s on line coupons, and special sales ads were cutting into our bottom line, but where else could one find the personal touch of a local reporter. • 9. The Issue Of Capital Punishment Essay Today, one of the most debated issues in the Criminal Justice System is the issue of capital punishment or the death penalty. Having said that, crime is imminent. We could have an unexpected encounter with a criminal committing crime on a daily. Criminals have become a part of our daily lives. Does this mean we should let them prevail in our society? No, absolutely not. Eliminating crime and criminals is our duty, and we must not ignore it. Getting the rightly accused to a just punishment is very important. Some criminals commit a crime because they have no other option to survive, but some do it for fun. I do not advocate death penalty for everybody. A person, who stole a piece of clothing from a department store, definitely does not deserve the death penalty. However, a serial killer, who kills people just because or for malicious reasons, definitely deserves the death penalty. The death penalty should continue, in order to eliminate the garbage out of our society. Not everybody deserves to die, but some people definitely do. I support the death penalty for several reasons. Primarily, I believe that the death penalty serves as a deterrent and assists with reducing crime. Moreover, the death penalty assures safety to our society by eliminating these criminals. As stated in our text, deterrence is a sentencing goal or a crime prevention strategy that seeks to inhibit criminal behavior in either the offender (specific deterrence) or in the others (general deterrence by using ... University of North Texas Health Science Centre School of Public Health, Fort Worth, Texas, EOHS 5313 The Editor, Fort Worth Star Telegram, 400 West Seventh Street, Fort Worth, Texas Sir/Madam, STRENGTHENING RETENTION, IMPROVING INCLUSION AND EXPANDING COVERAGE IN HEALTHY FEEDING PROGRAMS ACROSS TEXAS DISTRICTS This letter seeks to provide a detailed exposition of a multi faceted aspect of the challenge of food insecurity in Texas and a proposal of clear cut practical solutions. The hope is that through the publication of this piece, the issue will assume centre stage and attract the needed response. Over the years, notable healthy feeding intervention programs across different government and community levels have been channelled to Texas in response to the much documented challenge of widespread food insecurity across the state. These programs have contributed in varying degrees to mitigating the crisis of food insecurity in the state (Children at Risk, 2016). However, progress in retention of beneficiaries and expansion of coverage has remained a real challenge. For there to be a sustained substantial reversal of food insecurity in Texas, a clear determination backed by concrete plans to remove obstacles to continued coverage and expansion for further inclusion must be prioritized. It is important to renew critical focus on the devastating impact of food insecurity and its vast spread in the United States in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Declaration Of The Rights Of Man And Citizen Essay Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen is a direct response to the ignorance of the two other estates and the King. At the beginning of the French Revolution, the people taking part had a good idea of what they want in the new form of government they are demanding. They wanted more rights, less restriction, and an equal voice in everything from day to day operations, all the way up to the Estates General. So, when they piled up all of their ideas into one document, they were able to muster a declaration much like the one created by the Americans earlier in 1776. So, if they were to keep the estate system, now the first estate would consist of the clergy from christianity and representative from other religions. The Declaration also gives rights to those who have been convicted of a crime, every man is presumed innocent until declared guilty . Before this the king would say you are going to prison, or you are going the be drawn and quartered, because all those who are convicted receive the same rights they did before they were arrested until they are convicted. Throughout once in your life, you may have been confronted with a situation where you accept inconveniences instead of taking action. According to William F. In Buckley s essay, Why Don t We Complain? he explains some situations that he was involved in where no one would complain to repair an uncomfortable situation. Should people be afraid to complain or should they always be free minded about an unjust cause? The second reason why I agree with Buckley s ideas about assertiveness and helplessness is because throughout time many inventions are that replace simple jobs that cause a sense of laziness. The people will often portray themselves as lazy in society as new technological inventions are created to do their tasks. Many people will then develop a habit due to them relying on other things to do their task for them. For example, back then when machines weren t created, people did manual labor and relied on themselves, but now as we rely on newly made machines; we rely on the equipment to do our work. This forms a habit for Americans as we begin to rely on other things than ourselves. The third reason why I agree with Buckley s ideas about assertiveness and helplessness is shown through as Buckley states that the government is taking rights away from the people. He states, Every year, whether the Republican or the Democratic Party is in office, more and more power drains away from the individual to feed vast reservoirs in far off places; and we have less and less say about the shape of events which shape our future . The Outcasts Of Poker Flat Analysis In Bret Harte s The Outcasts of Poker Flat (1869), the mining camp of Poker Flat believes the only way to become a town is to banish a group of people called the ¨outcasts¨. However, many of the steps taken to get rid of this group are just as wicked as the crimes committed by the outcasts . Through conflicts between different groups of people, the story conveys the theme that hypocrisy leads to the realization of truth. Some of the main hypocritical events in The Outcasts of Poker Flat are when the townsfolk want to rob Oakhurst, when Oakhurst helps Tom Simson, and when the Duchess and Piney are thought of as equal when found dead. Tim Simson, a man that Oakhurst took money from in gambling, showed up with his fiance Piney at the outcasts camp. Oakhurst won the entire fortune . . . then handed [Tim] his money back (3). This represents Oakhurst as a hypocrite himself because a gambler s purpose is typically to earn as much money as possible, and instead he gives the money back. This transaction of money between a good gambler and a careless gambler reveal John Oakhurst s true identity as a kind, caring man. The third conflict in the story is between lustful women and innocent women. The Duchess, who represents the lustful woman, and Piney, who represents the innocent woman, are found dead in each other s arms at the end of the story. Harte writes, when pitying fingers brushed the snow from their wan faces, you could scarcely have told them from the equal peace that dwelt upon them (8). This event is extremely hypocritical in that a prostitute and a virginal woman, who would not typically be associated with each other, cannot be told apart from one another. This exposes the truth about death; that all are equal. The main hypocritical events in The Outcasts of Poker Flat reveal identities as well as ideas about death. Keats writes about how he was most definitely not the same person he was before his exposure to Homer. The poem, To Homer by John Keats explicates the idea that although Homer was physically blind, he enabled a man blind with ignorance (Keats), to see the world through his literature. The first part of the poem explains Keats ignorance before reading, as well as the greek gods revealing elements of sky, sea, and land to Homer and then Keats. The first few lines express how Keats was ignorant because of him not understanding Homer s writing. In his essay The Negro Artists and the Racial Mountain, Langston Hughes shared his thoughts with the readers regarding racial identity. He believed that every individual should be proud of who they are and stand by their race. The idea of passing would be considered extremely offensive and even an action of betrayal by him. Instead of following the steps of the socially superior group whites in this case, Hughes suggested that the minority groups need to stay true to them selves and their culture, and they need to united and fight for their rights. It is only through doing so that the minority groups can rise up to the equal of the superior group, not by submitting to it. His arguments are reflected in Nella Larsen s Passing through the two ... He ends one of his paragraphs with a very powerful statement: Why should I want to be white? I am a Negro and beautiful. (The Negro Artists and the Racial Mountain). In the novel, this idea is again challenged by Clare, who represented the opposite of what Hughes stood for. Clare was in fear. She was always in fear, because she was not who she claimed to be. Clare wanted to enjoy rights she did not have, but yet she did not wish to fight for it. Clare was always in fear, because she had chosen to join the enemy . She married a man that bare hatred to her race, and ignored her own people for years. In order to be able to live the life she had, she cut all ties with her family, and finally connected with them after she accidentally ran into Irene. She acted among the black community in a secretive way, which is due to her fear of being recognized. However, many from her own community would probably share the same feelings as Hughes would have, a sense of betrayal and ashamed for Clare for she can not face her true self. Thus, Clare was caught in between the fear of her identity being compromised by the whites, and also the fear of the despise from her own people. All of Lily s symptoms can be compared with the ones that I just mentioned. Despite the symptoms iron deficiency anemia can usually be corrected with iron supplements. However, it is important that Lily s mother takes her to see a doctor so that she can be properly diagnosed before giving her any types of supplements. Waiting to wash the decolorizing solution off will clear all the dye of off the previously dyed cells. Put the slide in the counter stain safranin for one minute and rinse with water. Place the slide on bibulous paper and wipe an access water of the slide being careful not to disrupt the bacterial culture.
