2. Fetal Viability Case Study
Mary is a 28yo, G1 P0, who was seen for a follow up ultrasound assessment for fetal viability. As you
know, her pregnancy is complicated by a fetus with multiple anomalies including heterotaxy, an
AVSD, fibroelastosis of the ventricle musculature, complete heart block, and hydrops. On today s
evaluation overall, the patient has no obstetrical complaints and still does have positive fetal
movement. On arrival her BP was 134/90 and her urine was trace protein. Recheck of her BP about 5
minutes later was 130/88. She has gained 5 lb in the past 2 weeks but denies headaches, blurred
vision, or any signs of preeclampsia. We did obtain lab work today and will forward these to your
office upon return. By dates, she is 23 ½ weeks. Fetal cardiac

3. Feral Children Research Paper
Feral Children: Examples of Extreme Neglect Socialization is the lifelong process of social interaction
through which individuals acquire a self identity and the physical, mental, and social skills needed for
survival in society (Kendall 87). In other words, this is the time when the individual figures out who
they are, what they feel, and what they think in order to participate in society. This is where we learn
role taking, how to control our behavior, and how to communicate with others (Kendal 87). A feral
child is a child who has lived isolated from human contact, experiences little to no human care, love,
or social behavior, and human language. Some feral children, as stated by the Free Dictionary, this
child abandonment is normally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything the child sees, they imitate. During this time, they learn to walk, talk, learn, and develop
their own personality. A critical part of socialization comes from George Herbet Mead s Role Taking
and Stages of the Self theory (Kendall 95 96). The first step is the preparatory stage where children
learn to imitate the people around them, usually parents and other family members. The second stage
is the play stage where children start to develop language skills and take the role of another person
that they look up to. The final stage is the game stage, where children begin to understand who they
are, and who other people are as well. In this stage, children learn to play sports and participate in
other activities that require them to have an idea of what society expects of them (Kendall 95 96). If a
child is denied the ability to go through these stages, they do not receive the proper socialization that
they will need to survive in the world. Socialization among children is very important. A child must
learn how to walk, talk, eat, use the restroom, read, write, and do many other important skills. Without
socialization, these children will not be able to develop intelligence and will not learn how to perform
basic daily functions. Children must be taught and know the values, beliefs, and norms of the
surrounding culture in order to know what is expected of them

4. 30 Years War
Kaden: Today we are gonna talk about the 30 years war. This war, was fought by many different
countries, and next to world war two is the biggest conflict Europe has had. And it s not World War I!
Intro:
Ben: The 30 years war was fought in response to the Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand the Second
attempting to restrict the rights of the protestants in europe.
Kaden: the countries involved were Spain,Netherlands, Denmark, the Catholic and protestant parts of
germany,Sweden,the french and the british.
Kaden: It started off in the 1590 s actually when Ferdinand the second and the duke maximilian
stamped out protestantism in austria and bavaria, and following that in 1607 when they furthered the
abuse with letting christians occupy protestant land, the protestants rioted and began to walk out of the
places they lived, and stopped farming and such, thus causing issues for the empire. ... Show more

5. Advanced Technology In Corrections
The use of advanced technology in corrections is inevitable. With continued overcrowding, reduction
in budgets for manpower and new facilities, and push to keep the worst locked up and less violent
offenders back out on the street, technology will play a bigger role. Aside from the advantages and
disadvantages presented in the text by Siegel and Bartollas (2011), there are other concerns that may
arise which could have an impact on case law and law enforcement across the country.
Once technology is used by the government to monitor people s movements and locations (insert
Orwellian theories), questions of Civil Rights/Civil Liberties violations, or potential for violation will
arise, as alluded to in the text. For example, the unanimous

6. Discrimination In Classical Conditioning
1. Classical conditioning:
When I was younger, my parents argued a lot! The more it happened, the more I thought it was
normal. As a child, I believed that everyone argued in such a manner.
2. Discrimination in classical conditioning:
According to Carver (2010), discrimination stimulus is a cue that controls the occurrence of behavior.
In softball, there were different signs that my coach would give me. Certain signs meant to steal the
base on bunt. We he didn t want me to anything he would throw out random signs that meant nothing.
These signs would confuse the other team, so that they could not pick up on what we were
communicating.

In school, I was motivated to read books as a child, not necessarily because I enjoyed them, but
because I was rewarded when I finished. If I finished the book and passed the test I would get points,
which I could exchange for pencils or other nik naks.
5. Negative reinforcement:
As a child, I would refuse to clean my room. If I didn t clean my room, my mom wouldn t let me
watch TV or play with my friends. Needless to say, I quickly changed those habits.
6. Discrimination in operant conditioning:
As I said earlier, my coach would use signals to tell me what to do when I was playing softball. I knew
which signal meant bunt and which meant steal. This is an example of discrimination, because I can
distinguish between the different signals.
7. Generalization in operant conditioning:
My grandmother taught me how to cook in her kitchen. Now, I can cook a meal in any kitchen.
8. Shaping in operant conditioning:

8. Dr Harry Harlow Influence On Child Psychology
Dr. Harry Harlow (1905 1981) was a groundbreaking psychologist whose experiments helped reshape
the scientific attitudes toward child psychology and proper development. Our understanding of these
subjects in the early 20th century were quite different from what we know today. At the time, it was
said that love between children and parents started from the physical needs of the child and that
emotions were irrelevant. It was also thought that contact between mother and child should be limited,
if not avoided altogether, so as not to spoil it. Dr. Harlow challenged these established theories. He
hypothesized that emotions and contact were essential for proper child development, and he
established the Psychology Primate Lab at the University of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

how they were affected. Some monkeys were confined to a darkened room (the pit of despair , as
Harlow called it) for a whole year with no outside contact. Once released, the monkeys were
depressed, psychotic, and apathetic to the other sex. In another test, some females monkeys were tied
to a rape rack and forcefully impregnated. When freed from the rack, the females were too
psychologically damaged to care for their young. The goal of these experiments was to further prove
that children require love and affection to grow healthily. Based on his results, it seems that Dr.
Harlow s hypotheses were

9. Comparing A Raisin In The Sun And Death Of A Salesman
What happens to a dream deferred? Is a question from Langston Hughes, A Dream Deferred asks one
what happens to a forgotten dream. This idea connects two well known American plays, A Raisin in
the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry and Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller, in the sense that each
character has a dream deferred. A dream deferred is a forgotten dream or one that has been left behind.
The two father figures, Walter and Willy, share many comparisons such as having a big dream
reaching for success in business, leaving them behind, and their reactions. Walter Younger and Willy
Loman both have big dreams to pursue big careers in business. In A Raisin in the Sun, Walter says You

. In A Raisin in the Sun, Bobo, one of Walter s business partners, says, Yessss! All of it... It s all gone...
Walter has just found out here that the money he gave to Willy for the liquor store was stolen by Willy,
his other business partner. The money was supposed to be deposited into a savings account for
Beneatha s school, and the rest was expected to be saved for the future. This contributes to the idea of
a dream deferred because this is where Walter finds out it is over for him. He no longer has the ability
to invest money in the business because the money is gone. This is where Walter learns his dream is
dead. Similarly, in Death of a Salesman, Howard Wagner, Willy s boss, tells Willy, I don t want you to
represent us. I ve been meaning to tell you for a long time now. In this scene, Willy is fired from his
job as a salesman because Howard believes he is too old and tired. This contributes to the bigger
picture of Willy no longer being able to pursue the dream of being a salesman. Like Walter, Willy s
dream is taken away from him and has no option but to leave it

10. Progressives versus Populists
The onset 20th Century holds two main movements: The Populists and The Progressives. These two
parties are similar, but their policies and philosophies hold diversities. The Populists party comprises
of farmers and poor whites in the south; they focus on eastern interests i.e. railroads and banks. The
Populists also call for government action, to intervene and to create an efficient society which includes
a flourishing middle class. The Progressives include educated middle class men and men of
universities, they too demanded for reform, but accomplish their goals through legislation and the
judicial system. The Progressives focused on reform as well as destroying the Robber Barons. Some
Progressives were actually a part of the Populist Party; they weren t contradictory parties. To simplify
the matter The Populist party held picnics in order to present discussions, while the Progressives hold
educated and sophisticated men of great esteem who were much more formal. The Populist Party was
the people s party, hence the name Populist, the party was created in the late 1800s when the Southern
Famer alliance contacted Powderly, the head of The Knights of Labor. The party s first platform was
called the Omaha Platform which called for the abolition of the national bank, graduated income tax,
direct election of senators, civil service reform, an eight hour work week, and the gov t control of
railroads, telegraphs and telephones. The Populists supported the Prohibition

11. How Does John Stuart Mill Achieve Happiness
Have you been your true, happy self lately? Finding happiness is one of the most challenging things to
do, and just saying that you are happy can be a total lie. Happiness is something you have to find, and
it will eventually some to you even if you aren t in search of happiness. I agree with John Stuart Mill
because he states that you can achieve happiness if you do what you love, and to just let happiness
come to you rather than chasing it.
John Stuart Mill was an English philosopher, political economist, feminist, and civil servant. He
became known as one of the most influential thinkers in the history of liberalism, and he contributed
widely to social theory. John Stuart Mill was also one of Thomas Carlyle s sometime friend and long
time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John Stuart mill states that you can achieve happiness by helping people out even if they are a total
stranger. From my personal experience, self interrogation can be the thief of happiness because
whenever I fail at something I blame myself, and that takes me further away from achieving my goal
of happiness. If you blame yourself for everything and don t view your failures as mistakes that you
can learn from than you will never achieve happiness. You can t ever truly be happy until you love
yourself and view yourself as a worthy person of achieving happiness. Happiness will eventually
come to you if you are happy with yourself, and if you are never capable of accepting yourself then
you can say goodbye to happiness. I have learned to accept myself for who I am because I see myself
as one of a kind, and I can t change who I am. If I mope around then I won t live life to the fullest, so
you have to understand that you can t change who you are.
Many people have different ideas on how people can achieve happiness, and today happiness is
viewed in many different ways. People may disagree with John Stuart Mill because everyone has their
own ideas and thinks in their own way. Those who disagree may believe that happiness is something
that you have to get yourself, and that happiness just magically doesn t come to you and that you have
to chase happiness if you want to be happy. Many people including myself try to force happiness,

Facebook Uncovered
Facebook has always strived on the belief that this social network is where users connect with not just
friends but with the expansive world around them. Recently in the last several years, some Facebook
users have been expose to a world that they were not prepared or intend to see. Gory visuals of a
sinister and graphic nature that document this reality of debauchery has become viral on some user s
news feed. Images and videos of dead bodies, bloody car accidents, mutilations and animal cruelty are
a fragment of what users were exposed to during the November 2011 gore porn link spam attack
(Sarachik 2011). Facebook was able to close the exploit with the help of Facebook s own technician
after being informed of the problem. Still images and videos depicting real life blood and gore still
finds their way on Facebook, where they can potentially be seen by hundreds of millions of users.
Shortly after images of the execution of James Foley by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)
appeared online on Facebook, a safety advisor for the company calls for the implementation of safety
measures that would prevent users from accidentally accessing the images (Kelion 2014). In recent
years Facebook have been increasingly used by some users on the social network to post graphic
content and obscene pornographic material and the reason for this is because the social network is not
effectively regulating and monitoring the content. The reasons for why Facebook needs

There is a huge number of missing women in Canada, and an extremely large number of these women
are Aboriginal. Why do Aboriginal women seem more vulnerable? The majority of these missing
Aboriginal women were living on the streets, living in poverty and working in the sex trade industry
before their disappearances. Why were all of these women in the same situation? I believe that the
Conflict Theory explains the hardships, the abuse and the discrimination that each of these women
faced before they went missing. The Conflict Theory states that society is marked by power struggles
over scarce resources; inequities result in conflict; social change is inevitable. Since the theft of
Aboriginal land and destruction of traditional ways of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The damage done by residential schools is evident today as Aboriginal people, long deprived of

accelerated with the breakdown of Aboriginal cultural values and the abuse suffered by Aboriginal
children in the schools contributed to family breakdown. This began a cycle of abuse in Aboriginal
communities, with women and children being the primary victims. Aboriginal women and their
children suffer tremendously as victims in contemporary Canadian society. They are the victims of
racism, of sexism and of inconceivable levels of domestic violence as well as incomprehensible
crimes like murder. The tragedy of missing Aboriginal women runs deep into the history of Aboriginal
dispossession and discrimination; it s not just about missing Aboriginal women; its health issues,
housing issues, economic security, drug and alcohol abuse, mental health, racism, and all of those
social factors that create a situation of Aboriginal women becoming victims. Canada contributes to the
issue of missing women by failing to address human rights issues for women. Canada has failed to

poverty, lack of adequate housing, and violence especially for abuses suffered by

16. The Standpoint Theory On Human Relationships
The standpoint theory is an approach that seeks to demystify subjects concerning human relationships.
Such relations occur within diverse environments that influence though processes and the subsequent
perception of life. Further, this body of knowledge regards the manner in which authority is vested in
individuals within various forms of social systems. The standpoint theory provides that individual
perspectives are molded by their experiences. Additionally, this touches on the aspects of people s
political environments as they strive to exist within their habitat sustainably. Individual environments
affect the manner in which people interact with each other (Hägerstraand, 1970). Various determinants
come into play when social structures are established. Ethnicity has been found to be a substantial
factor that affects the establishment of connections between people from various backgrounds. Social
classes create the distinction between people s perspective of the world (Marton, 1980). Critically,
people with privilege have particular attributes that place them above the persons they oppress.
Structurally, human societies are established by sets of institutions. These institutions vary in
relevance and scope. Important social institutions include education systems, the law and religion.
People perform daily activities based on the various notions they hold about the societies they occur.
Society serves various functions. First, it controls people s behavior and thus the

17. Avengers Stereotypes
Female Superheroes in Cartoons and Comics
It is extremely difficult to think of the modern world being without entertainment of any kind. People
have developed the cult of music, literature and visual art. One of the greatest entertainment pieces are
drawn comic books, which gave rise to an entire industry.
Although most of the comic books represent both female and male superheroes, in Marvel s Avengers,
the women are shown as sexual objects and minor characters while men are depicted as intelligent and
powerful heroes.
Since the inception of the comic book industry there have been a lot of controversies surrounding
female figures, especially, their physical appearance, gender roles and stereotypes. A strong hero,
leader and a desirable woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in Marvel s Avengers Natasha Romanoff was abused during the interrogation with
Russian mobsters as she refused to give out the information. It is crucial to note the way she sits on a
chair which was done on purpose as it creates the whole picture of her sexuality. Such scenes have an
enormous effect on society as they generally are representing hatred, discrimination, and
objectification. Since women are referred to the weak ones even though, super heroines, they are still
quite frequently victims of abduction.
All papers claim the same things about female roles in the comic books and its displaying on the
screens. Women are usually portrayed as inferior, unbelievably attractive, seductive and passive
characters. In comparison to Natasha, other females in Avengers are somewhat softer and
romanticized. Every frame with Betty is soft in the movie. Even when she was hurt and passed out she
was lying in a beautiful pose, just like a model who is also a subject of objectification in the real
world, with minimal damage to her pretty face which serves as bright contrast to the blood covered

agree with me that filling up seats is a good thing, correct? Even if that means giving away tickets for
free, it leads to more parking revenue, sales of concessions, and a greater overall atmosphere inside
the stadium. We aren t going from having the least amount of fan attendance to a sold out stadium
overnight. I suggest we continue down this path of giving away free tickets for a while to help fill
more seats. Give them to different groups per game. Besides the veterans, some examples would be
sponsors, nearby companies, little league teams, etc. Bringing these people in would give them a new
experience that they could share with their friends. Think about it. If a kid comes home from baseball

Everything within this world is manufactured and lacks the sensory experience of things in the natural
world. The use of onomatopoeia She d reached out and touched this, her artificial nails clicking

experience towards natural elements due to the reliability towards artificiality. The absence of nature
and artificiality suggests that society has ruined, damaged and completely destroyed natural resources.
This is demonstrated in the visual imagery The sky above the port was the colour of television, tuned
to a dead channel , where technology plays an essential role within Neuromancer society, that they
neglect natural elements. The world has now turned to medical intervention, technology and Science
to preserve life through artificial means. Gibson assesses the use of technology within society, setting

The Use of Foreshadowing and Symbolism in A Good Man is Hard to Find When an author writes a
story, he or she will generally use different writing techniques to create the piece. These techniques
have the ability to turn a story into something truly unique, as they allow the story to unfold in it s
own way. In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , author Flannery O Connor used the
techniques of symbolism and foreshadowing throughout the entire piece to create a deeply captivating
story, as so many of the details mentioned in the beginning of the story are glimpses of the end. The
foreshadowing in A Good Man is Hard to Find can be seen almost immediately. Within the first

This is very specific foreshadowing, because in the end of the story, all five on the trip die, and it
seems that will lead to the end of their family line. O Connor also explains how the Grandmother
dressed for the trip; she wore a navy dress, white gloves, and a formal hat. The reading states In case
of an accident, anyone seeing her dead on the highway would know at once that she was a lady. (O
Connor 496). Not only is this foreshadowing, but the grandmother s outfit can also be seen as a
symbol of her skewed moral code and selfishness. When the grandmother carefully chose the outfit for
this trip, she was solely concerned with how she would appear in the event that she died on her trip.
She was not at all disturbed by the fact that, in the event that there was an accident, her son and
grandchildren would die as well. In the same paragraph that discusses the grandmother s outfit, the
colors red, blue, purple, and green are introduced. These colors are mentioned for the first time when
discussing the grandmother s clothes and the mother s kerchief, and they repeated throughout the
entire story. A connection can certainly be seen with the grandmother s blue dress, because when the
reader is first introduced to The Misfit, he is wearing blue jeans, and after his sidekicks kill Bailey,
they take his shirt embroidered with blue parrots. It may not be easy to pick up on the repetition of
these colors, but they are most

21. Compassion Fatigue In Nursing Research
The oxford dictionary defines caring in two ways. First, as displaying kindness and concern for others
. Second, as the work or practice of looking after those unable to care for themselves, especially on
account of age or illness . Based on these definitions caring can be seen as an integral part of nursing
practice. In fact in the article Applying the Ethics of Care to Your Nursing Practice Vicki D. Lachman
states that caring and nursing are so intertwined that nursing always appeared on the same page in a
Google search for the definition of caring (2012). Caring is demonstrated by actions, not just in kind

These are just the effects on the nurse, but patients too feel the repercussions when they have a nurse
experiencing compassion fatigue. Compassion fatigue and burnout have been associated with
decreased patient satisfaction and even medication errors. As previously mentioned compassion
fatigue is common in nurses who have patients whose conditions do not improve. According to Dr.
Todaro Francheschi the most troubling thing for a great number of nurses... is to face death (p.85). A
second factor that can contribute to compassion fatigue and burn out is bullying in the workplace.
Bullying can come from peers as well as superordinates. A third factor is moral distress. Moral distress
happens when an individual wants to do the right thing but it is almost impossible to do so. Moral
distress can stem from limited resources or environments where nurses feel that they are not heard.
One example of moral distress, is the nurse that leaves work questioning whether or not she did
everything she possibly could for her patient due to limited resources. Other predictors of compassion
fatigue include, stress, age, mindfulness, apathy, and continuous exposure to

something to totally avoid and get rid of. Parents most especially with newly born babies and young
children tend to be overreact at the mere thought of germs. But can we blame parents when things like
how to properly look after their child, when to give him antibiotics or how often they should sterilize
his pacifier, bog them? Well. thanks to Jack Gilbert, the co author of a new book called Dirt is Good:
The Advantage of Germs for Your Child s Developing Immune System for presenting answers to
many of our questions about these microbes. Gilbert, a scientist who studies microbial ecosystems at

Over sterilizing the kids environment is not advantageous. 2. Keeping the children from ever getting
dirty, like preventing them from going out into the backyard and playing in the mud, is not helpful.
Just make sure that as they become filthy, bring them in and sterilize their hands with antiseptic wipes,
and then remove that dirt gets from their faces. 3. Keeping the kids away from animals is not good
either. It s fine to wash their hands if there s a cold or a flu virus around, but if they re interacting with
a dog, and the dog licks their face, that s not a bad thing. In fact that could be extremely beneficial for
the child s health. 4. Using sanitizers is usually bad.. Hot, soapy water is fine. Even mildly warm,
soapy water is okay, and it is probably less damaging to the child s overall health. 5. Observing the
five second rule is baseless. The idea that if something falls on the ground and is there for under five
seconds, it s clean. The five second rule doesn t exist. It takes milliseconds for microbes to attach
themselves to a sticky piece of jammy toast, for example. But it makes no difference. Unless you

which in every modern American home is virtually impossible, then there s no risk to your

Free Weights vs. Machines Weights
People have enjoyed working out for a long time. The going to the gym and working out trend is
gaining popularity every year. Right now working out is the rage. Health clubs are getting built and
remolded. There is still one question that the average working out Joe wants an answer for. Which is
better? Free weights or machine weights? Does it really matter?
When a person works out with free weights it is necessary for him to have a spotter (a person to watch
him in case he fails to lift the desired weight). The only time one could work out without a spotter is if
he/she is lifting extremely light/weights. Even this could be dangerous. No one I know recommends

There is not one exercise that a person of larger size cannot do. All free weight equipment is open,
while machine equipment is in closed. Both machines and free weight benches can be adjusted to get
the proper angle one desires. There are two exercises that can only truly be done using free weights
and that is the parallel squat and power clean. There are a few weight machines that try to mimic the
squat but there is really no substitute. The squat is the king of all exercise. It builds thigh and hip
development and strengthens the lower back. It also strengthens all the tiny stabilizer muscles in the
body. The power clean is a full body exercise that strengthens and builds all the major muscles in the
body like shoulder, back, legs, and arms. There is a downfall of free weights. One has to pick them up
and return them to the tree (rack) after they are completed in their exercise routine. Using free
weights, a person will achieve greater mass than he would if he did the same exercise using machine
equipment. Free weights use the person s natural range of motion and strengthen their stabilizer
muscles. If one switches from machine weights to free weights they will notice that they will shake a
lot. Once that person becomes adjusted to the feel of free weights his stabilizer muscles will get
stronger and he/she won t shake as much if at all. An advantage of machine weight exercise is that
they give the ability to tone and allow a

24. Acquainted With The Night And Stopping By Woods On A Snowy...
Robert Frost was one of America s most influential poets. He won countless awards for his work,
including four Pulitzer Prizes. Many of Frost s writings discuss nature and its effect on man. Two of
his poems, Acquainted with the Night and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening exemplify his
frequent use of nature. While both poems are similar in topic and contain similar aspects of nature, the
speakers differ on their responsibilities, and views of isolation. Firstly, the effect of the surroundings
on the speakers differs. In Acquainted with the Night, the physical darkness contributes to the speaker
s feeling of loneliness and emotional darkness throughout the poem. The mention of walking out in
rain and back in rain suggests that the speaker only goes out at night, furthering his solitude. The one
person that he does come in contact with is the watchman but is unwilling to explain. In Stopping by
the Woods on a Snowy Evening, the falling snow gives the speaker a sense of serenity. Winter

poem suggests that the speaker is wandering through the streets with nowhere to go and no one to see.
In Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, the speaker has stopped to watch the snow on his way
home from work. He has been so captivated by the sight that he almost loses track of the time and

25. Alexander Mackay s Journey To The New World
The United States during the mid 19th century was a country that was just beginning to develop. To
capture what the country was like at this time, a man named Alexander Mackay journeyed from
Scotland to the United States to stay for an entire year. He argued that staying for weeks or even
months at a time was inefficient to understand the political, cultural, and environmental aspects of the
country. Therefore, a year s time was devoted to travel across the Eastern side of the United States
while visiting all of the major cities including Richmond and New York City. Being an outsider, he
strived to maintain an unbiased perspective on many things such as the slave situation in the south to
give the reader an accurate and clear picture of the states. Spending this much time there, he was able
to live with the people as opposed to existing along beside them. In ... Show more content on

From his description, a general comparison can be made of the two cities from this time period. The
two cities differ greatly in many ways. Mackay describes Richmond as ...a small, but certainly a very
pretty town (251). When visiting New York City, he ends up visiting an observatory which grants him
a view of the entirety of the city area. The sight he sees was described as grand and busy with activity
around the bay. His initial reactions to each city very much contrasts one another which tells us a lot
about the overall feel that each city has. Mackay takes time to describe the James River s falls and
how it gives Richmond an abundant source of water power. Previously in his trip he noticed how the
water surrounding New York gave it access to trade and incoming immigrants. New York City is
located near the Erie Canal which connects it to the Great Lakes and as a result the Mississippi River.

26. The Two Endings of the Gospel of Mark
The Gospel of Mark has three different endings rather than one known ending like the other Gospels.
The other Gospels are easily ended with an ending that fits. The Gospel of Mark is also much shorter
than the other ones, but the most important difference is how he chose to begin and end it. There are
many scholars giving reasons for how or why this one ended the way it did, and also where they think
the correct ending appears. They too have different views, so they must leave it to the readers to
decide what they each personally think. The two extra ending that were added have major differences
from the original. But with more than one version of the correct ending, it shows there is a problem.
The original ending of this gospels stops at Chapter 16, verse 8. At the ending of verse 8 the three
people that came to visit Jesus tomb had decided they would not tell anyone what the young man
dressed in white on Jesus tomb had said about how Jesus has risen. Some say it ended at this point
because the other part was lost, or something had happen to the author so verse 8 was the last thing he
wrote. No other documents with a reliable documentation were found with it so that may be a reason
why it ended at 16:8 (Dart). Another reasoning that something had happened to the author so he was
not able to finish, resulting in someone else finishing it later on. If the author did mean to stop it there,
it is unknown how people would have found out about Jesus rising (Knox). The

have set Tupac up? Suge is the executive producer of Death Row Records. With Tupac dead, the
profits go to him. Is that reason enough for Suge to have Tupac shot? The suspicions behind Suge s
involvement are not the only things that seem bizarre. The entire situation during the night of Tupac s
shooting seemed odd. There were a couple cars filled with Tupac s entourage directly behind the car
that Tupac was riding in. The entourage was a group of Tupac s friends. One would assume that they
were friends that would be willing to protect Tupac, especially, Tupac s bodyguard. So when the
shooter in the white Cadillac finished shooting at Tupac, it is particularly speculative that no one
sought to figure out who the murderer was shortly after the incident. The murder took place in Las
Vegas, which is adjacent to a huge desert. Why was it so easy for the assailants to get away? There
was only one witness to the shooting. His name was Yafeu Fula and he was found shot to death on
November 10th in a hallway of an apartment building in East Orange, NJ. First, it is not likely that

In the 1600 s, there were approximately 220 million acres of wetlands in the forty eight states (Dahl

The Influence of Gun Violence in America Will there ever be an end to gun violence? Bowling for
Columbine is a documentary by Michael Moore that demonstrates how gun violence is transforming
America into a dangerous country. Michael Moore plays with the emotions of the American public by
centering his documentary on the tragedy of Columbine. He explores the reasons as to why gun
violence is at an all time high in America by listing his ideas in a personal way rather than being
professional like in most documentaries. However, the way that he directs his film captured my
attention and made me question as to why there is so much gun violence in America. Although, the
film does center on the affects of Columbine, Moore looks deeper into the cause of gun violence. His
documentary style is to hit the emotions of the public and to wrap the facts into his point of view.

their duty to protect the ones they love and to be equipped for their safety. When they were asked
about just contacting the police a woman declared that it was better to cut out the middle man and

generalization. For example, when the public, mainly the religious groups, blamed Marilyn Manson as

Moore could have done more research for the film instead of forcing emotion throughout the entire

Walden, a series of 18 essays by Henry David Thoreau published in 1854, is a record of Thoreau s

is a theme that Thoreau experiences while at Walden Pond. Even though Thoreau makes some
elaborate claims as to why industrial progress is destructive, the exact opposite is true; as such
advancement does much to benefit the relationships, economy and safety of any society. Thoreau s
overall philosophy condemns industrial progress. Thoreau believed that simplicity is good for the soul

inventions that would radically change the world. In the mid nineteenth century he saw the invention
of the power loom, railroad and the telegraph, the industrial revolution. In Thoreau s view, technology
provoked an excitement that was counterproductive because it served as a distraction from the
important questions of life. Perhaps we are led oftener by the love of novelty, and a regard for the
opinions of men, in procuring it, than by a true utility. (Walden, 21). Our inventions are wont to be
pretty toys, which distracted our attention from serious things. They are but improved means to an

Capitol Punishment: Toy of Evil Men
One might believe that because capital punishment plays such a large role in Charles Dickens A Tale
Of Two Cities, that Dickens himself is a supporter of it. This just simply is not true. Dickens uses
capitol punishment as a tool to define the evil embodied in both the French ruling class, and the
opposing lower class during the French Revolution; as well as comment on the sheep like nature of
humankind.
In the beginning of the novel, capital punishment serves as the quot;cure all quot; for France s social
problems. After all, quot;death is nature s remedy for all things, and why not legislation s? quot; (62).

quot; They are murdering the prisoners, quot; says Mr. Lorry to Darnay after arriving in France (260).
Again Dickens uses capitol punishment as a way to show the reader the atrocities that humanity can
create when consumed with hatred and evil. Dickens can be seen approaching the subject of the
guillotine with cynical sarcasm when he writes, quot;it was the popular theme for jests; it was the best
cure for headache, it infallibly prevented the hair from turning gray...who kissed La Guillotine looked
through the little window and sneezed into the sack quot; (271). Just as with the Aristocrats, Dickens
does not condone the Jacques use of capital punishment. His disdain is apparent in his tone; which
gnaws away at any inkling the reader may have that the treatment of the prisoners is fair.
Capital punishment is also used as a social commentary by showing how people cling to the popular
attitudes and beliefs of the day. People are quick to adopt the guillotine as their new savior. Dickens
articulates the common attitude towards this when he writes, quot;[the guillotine] was the sign of the
regeneration of the human race. It superseded the cross quot; (271). These quot;followers of the
guillotine quot; are ruthless in their quest for blood as they shout quot;Take off his head...an enemy to
the republic! quot; (280). By showing the ridiculous manner in which the people of France behave,

(I.i.70). He was considered a good man that was seen as a great leader by King Duncan. Historically,
he had killed many people in battle and was looked at as great by that, but later in the story, Macbeth
was called Devilish Macbeth (IV.iii.118) by Malcolm and was seen by many as a tyrant and cruel man
after killing King Duncan, Banquo, and Macduff s family. On the

Payments 50% Over the course of the past 7 months I have worked diligently with the Research
Program Officers and Finance Team to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our weekly payment
request process. In doing so, I have positioned myself as the front line of communication between the
finance and research team to answer inquiries relating to payments. I have strived to work with the
research program officers to ensure that payments are being scheduled accordingly in regards to their
contracted payment schedules. In the case where the scheduled and subsequent payments are delayed I
work with the research program officers to send an updated payment schedule to accounting. During
my tenure I have made some revisions to the payment requests process that has made the overall
process more efficient. One change that I have introduced is adding the grant request ID to the
payment requests giving accounting and the research team a uniform jargon when referring to grants. I
have created the FedEx Outgoing Checks spreadsheet which is an extensive list of checks that have
mailed out since September. This spreadsheet has been highly useful as it has served as a resource for
the Research Team to easily track the shipment of checks to their awardees. I have proven to be
efficient with communicating the status of payments as well as providing a timeline for payments to
Research Program Officers and awardees. I have also been proactive with solving dilemmas regarding
payments. This

Abstract
This paper will discuss the effects perfusion has on the body as well as the multiple body systems that
are effected from poor perfusion. We will be looking at the relationships between profusion as it
relates to ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, and tuberculosis. This paper will use online journal
entries from EPSCO as well as off line entries from Lewis to help us find a better understanding into
the related topics at hand. Lastly I will discuss stroke in depth as it pertains to my clinical experience
and explain the strong link profusion has on ischemic stroke and the measures used to retain brain
tissue. We will look at research done by Agarwal, Smriti (2015) that looks at the effectiveness and
time saving procedures researched by his team when detecting stroke as well as research done by
Dong, Hongli (2015) that shows a strong correlation between vitamin b12 and folic acid and the
prevention of an ischemic event.

43. The Philosophy Of Osteopathic Medicine
I shadowed multiple physicians from various specialties, as I worked to confirm my desire to become
a physician. Out of all of them, Dr. Brian Loveless, a family practice physician who utilizes
osteopathic manipulative medicine, stood out to me the most. My time shadowing him at The Patient
Care Center at Western University of Health Sciences exposed me to the philosophy of osteopathic
medicine. Using osteopathic manipulative treatment techniques like high velocity, low amplitude, he
was able to relieve patients of their pains or aches during the visit, without providing any medications.
It was these moments that taught me the effectiveness about the philosophy of osteopathic medicine.
As Dr. Loveless stated regarding one patient, he was treating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

My past experiences in Asian Pacific Health Corps serving those in the San Gabriel Valley and Kids
Come First Community Health Center serving those in the Inland Empire have inspired me to become
a physician who is dedicated in making a difference amongst medically underserved populations.
These experiences have exposed me to the unique health issues those in Southern California are facing
and introduced me to the diverse population I want to ultimately serve. I am excited at the potential to
further develop this passion at a medical school committed to service, as I have seen medical students
from WesternU COMP volunteering their time to perform osteopathic manipulative treatments at
APHC s health fairs. I look forward to volunteering as a student leader in organizations at WesternU
COMP, such as Pomona Homeless Outreach Program, and encouraging my classmates to get involved
with community service projects to extend their learning beyond the classroom. WesternU COMP s
innovative curriculum, early clinical experiences, supportive environment, and state of the art facilities
will prepare me to be a well rounded leader in the ever evolving field of medicine. With a reputation
of graduating students matching into their residencies of choice, I can be assured that WesternU
COMP will help me to reach my career

44. Figurative Language And Symbolism In Sailing The Byzantium
Literature is always personal, always one man s vision of the world, one man s experience (W.B. Yeats
n.d.). Such perspicacity is evident in the works of William Butler Yeats, whose collection of poetry,
The Tower, reflects his fascination with mysticism and the days of yore. The poem Sailing the
Byzantium illustrates how William Butler Yeats use of artistic diction and symbolism reveals the
parallels of ancient civilization and the cycle of life and communicates the dual themes of
obsolescence and perpetuity. Yeats elegy, details a metaphoric spiritual journey of renewal to the holy
city seeking intellectual refuge within an artifice of eternity (Yeats, Lines 16,24). His use of figurative
language elicits both the somber and nostalgic tones evident throughout the poem. Metaphorically, the
speaker emphasizes the theme of obsolescence by alluding to his own physical limitations and concern
for his own mortality living in a country unfit for old men among ... Show more content on

Modernist poet, William Butler Yeats, use of figurative language and symbolism expresses his own
trepidations of aging and mortality, as well his longing to sail beyond the physical temporal world into
the antiquity of Byzantium. The holy city exists as an infinite elusive realm out of nature ; a mystical
place where a numinous spirit triumphs over the dying animal and through empyrean wisdom and
intervention, he emerges from the gyre...an artifice of eternity (Line 19, 24). Revelations 21:1 2
reminds Christians they too will journey to such place when the first earth has passed away...the holy
city, New Jerusalem, [coming] will come down out of heaven from God . Just as we have borne in the
likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven (1 Corinthians
15:49). Christians discover the greatest Truths, not by human intellect, but through Divine

Research Paper
Even though the black market seems like a good place to get the things you need for a cheap price,
there is a bad side to anything you may find on the black market. The black market is a bad place and
is full of illegal drugs, human trafficking, and ancient artifacts.
Through the 1950s most black market sales took place at outdoor markets or bazaars. Having emerged
during World War 1 in response to the regulation of prices and supplies, the black market burgeoned
after the Bolshevik seizure of power.
Some pros of the whole market is it helps make people money, helps people get the things they need at
a cheaper price. Some people depend on the black market to live. ... Show more content on

Due to the difficulty of sizing up explicit drug sales, there s not even a cheap picture of just how large
colorado s marijuana black market was before legalization, making it all the harder to evaluate how
legal sales have affected it.
In the case of Richard Sacra, U.S. based physician Kent Brantly donated his personal blood to help
fight off the virus(Ebola). These developments highlight a larger market of pharmaceuticals,
treatments, and biological material. Administered early and with a high level of medical intervention,
serums such as ZMAPP may help lower the mortality rate for Ebola. However data is insufficient at
this stage. Those with desire and resources are buying blood in hopes of curing current infections or
stockpiling for future infections. Recent report illuminate a growing black market trade in blood from
Ebola survivors.

46. (Descriptive Essay) (Title) A SWIMMING ADVENTURE
A SWIMMING ADVENTURE By Misty Moore Awaking early, I decided to sit on the screened porch
and watch the Florida sun come up. Within a very short time as I sat there, the sun peaked on the
horizon as it gradually awakened from its night of slumber. The dew sparkled like diamonds as the sun
s rays tenderly caressed the grass. Off in the distance, I could hear the world spring to life as the birds
began to sing a spectacular melody, growing louder and louder as each bird began to chirp in unison,
like a choir singing in church on Sunday morning. A new day had dawned and I remember thinking
how magnificent the birds song was and what a wonderful day it was going to be. Returning to my
duties as a mom, I started making breakfast for my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I stand there in about three feet of water when my children come up with another exciting game; they
start swimming through my legs playing mommy is a bridge. I remember thinking boy! I wish I had
their energy. After resting a few minutes I picked them up, placed them one at a time on my back and
began to swim; we slowly swam under the blue water and up again and I could hear them giggle with
excitement and say Do it again mommy, do it again . A short time later a commotion broke out
interrupting our games, I struggled to hear what everyone was shouting about and saw people running
to the water s edge and pointing about fifty feet from where the children and I were playing. Looking
in the direction they were pointing, a man with his daughter in tow yells, SHARK! without hesitation,
I yelled to my son, Michael, get out of the water! I grabbed Laura and Misty and headed to shore. My
adrenalin pumping we reached the shore incredibly fast, like a bolt of lightning streaking across the
night sky. Only when we were safely on shore did we look back to see three fins just skimming the
surface of the water. I stood there stunned and shocked watching the fins, wondering what kinds of
sharks they were and very grateful that everyone was in one piece. A few minutes later, the fins
disappeared beneath the surface and everyone was treated to a wondrous sight, there off in the
distance, were three dolphins jumping high into the air and making a big splash as they entered the

47. Comparing Mary Shelley s Frankenstein and the Prometheus...
Comparing Mary Shelley s Frankenstein and the Prometheus Myth
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is subtitled The Modern Prometheus , and rightfully so. Prometheus, the
Titan of Greek mythology that created man and gave them fire, is a fitting symbol for Victor
Frankenstein, the man who created a monster and gave him life. The most obvious aspect of the
similarity between Frankenstein and the Prometheus myth is the underlying theme both stories deal
with ill fated actions with tragic consequences. The classic Prometheus stories, as told by Aeschylus,
Percy Bysshe Shelley and summarized by Edith Hamilton, contain symbolic and thematic elements
that closely parallel Mary Shelley s modern Prometheus.

Another similarity between the two figures is their intention or goal. Both characters had supposedly
good intentions that were tainted through the fulfilment of their cause. Frankenstein believed that, a
new species will bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would owe their
being to me (32). Prometheus insists that his actions had a similar impact I risked the bord attempt,
and saved mankind / From stark destruction and the road to hell... And in a single word to sum the
whole / All manner of arts men from Prometheus learned. (Aeschylus). In both cases, these ideas,
deluded or realistic, were not the actual or only outcome of their gifts . In Percy Bysshe Shelley s
interpretation of the Prometheus myth, Prometheus is faced with the consequences of his gift of fire
(and of creating the human race).
